Cpu Coolers - thermal compound, arctic silver

im a pc gamer and my processor is slightly over clocked...amd4400 X2 at 2.53GHZ and a Zalman am2 lives on top of it..along with that i also have two large zalman fans livig on top of 2 7950 BFG's- all of the gear has had this thermal compound on it for a year... performance wise the grease works great and will significantly drop the cpu temp, with the standard tape it was pushing 50c, with the thermal compound it dropped it to 30c, over time the cpu likes to sit at around 33-35 constantly with full load..same deal for the cards, they were around 53C before and then 37-40c afterwards..

1.the good: the grease is a liquid that can be brushed on..

application is super easy-and the grease comes off easy too..

2.the bad: grease does not keep over time-dries out and hardens in the bottle in about 6 months..even with the lid shut tight....

in the past i have used artic sliver..and all the others..by far..i like this one the most..primarily for its easy ability to be applied..but having it dry out on me..is a real bummer..and its happened to me twice!.. Zalman ZM-STG1 Super Thermal Grease

There is not a lot to say about this Thermal Paste. The Convenience of having a small brush to paste the grease brings a lot of ease in the process. I actually enjoyed doing it. It aided my Cooler Master V8 in dropping my CPU temp down 20C (from 52 to 32)

The amount is very little, though. If you're planning to go through a lot of heatsinks, it's recommended to buy a second or a third. I can't quite say whether its performance beats others like the Arctic Silver, but the application is definitely a thousand times easier.

Product image is accurate.

Product seems to work fine for my CPU and GPU, but I don't over-clock.

It applies smooth like finger nail polish and easy to spread evenly with the included applicator brush. The other thermal paste I have used applies like a paste instead of a thick liquid like this. The only downside is you only get enough fluid for about five full applications.

I bought this Zalman ZM-STG1 Super Thermal Grease to use with a new Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 processor (CPU) and it worked extremely well.

I loved having the brush because I was able to apply the thermal grease easily and without mess and without getting it on my motherboard. My new CPU idles at 35C and runs no warmer than 50C when under full load (running several programs, watching videos, and playing games).

This was the perfect choice for me.

It is really good. I used it for my new T9600 on my Asus G51VX-RX05.

That was my first time that i've ever changed a CPU for a laptop and the brush of this item helped me a lot.

It does realy good in cooling down the CPU. I would recommended this item to others.

My laptops fans where on a lot, and so I used this thermal paste, and compared it to arctic silver. The fans took forever to come on to cool down the cpu, and thats cause it didn't heat up as fast. The laptop was running smoother, quieter, and better. When the fan did kick on for the cpu it wasn't as loud cause it wasn't working as hard.

With the arctic silver the fans turned on sooner, but where quiet still. Zalman is better, but more expensive for a little amount.

Also lasted me about 2 years. Even in below zero temps. I had the cleaning stuff for the thermal paste on the cpu, and that stuff froze, but zalman still worked. I was going to a customers house, and left the zalman in the car with the thermal compound remover cause I didn't know if I would need it or not.

This is the second time I've bought this product for my computer because its a solid performer and one of the best thermal grease applicator. This along with the Corsair H50 Hydro liquid cooler keeps my overclocked i7 860 (3.63) around 40-55 degrees Celsius. - Cpu Grease - Thermal Compound - Arctic Silver - Zalman'

Computer Backup - computer power backup, uninterrupted power supplies

My home and home office contain many sensitive electronic devices. We have several personal computers, a PC server, NAS drives, routers, switches, printers, cordless phones, security system, etc. All of these things (and more) plug into the AC mains and are therefore vulnerable to voltage sags or spikes and the occasional power outage. When a person invests a lot of money in electronic hardware, it only makes sense to do everything you can to protect it. That is why I always discourage people from plugging these sensitive devices directly into the wall. I currently have a total of 10 UPS systems and two line conditioners in my home, which protect my most valuable computer, security and A/V equipment.

Over the years the cost of power conditioners and Uninterrupted Power Supplies has dropped drastically, and yet the overall reliability and performance of these have improved a great deal. A typical UPS used to be thought of as a simple battery backup device. But today the majority of UPS systems also help to condition the power, to a degree, using technologies such as AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation). There are several different types of UPS systems available, offering a wide range of output capacities and power conditioning capabilities. Of course the price goes up as your need of greater output and more sensitive voltage protection increases. But for some devices you can get by with a modest UPS system, to simply provide a moderate amount of power protection and battery backup time. This "modest" category is where the CyberPower CP850AVRLCD UPS fits in.

Model numbers of these UPS systems can be a little confusing, as many people think that the model reflects the output level of the device in watts. The model number of most UPS systems actually reflects the volt-amp rating, whereas the continuous watt load the unit can handle is usually a fraction of that VA rating, in terms of AC output. Calculating the exact watt output the UPS can sustain, strictly based on the VA rating, can be a little tricky since the AC load is not usually in precise phase. However, if you look up the specs of a given UPS system, the manufacturer usually indicates the maximum watts that the device is meant to sustain. In the case of the CyberPower CP850AVRLCD, the VA rating is 850 but the watt output rating is 510. That is a 60% difference between the VA and Watt rating.

This CyberPower UPS provides Automatic Voltage Regulation, shown by the letters "AVR" in the model number. This means that the UPS is capable of decreasing (Buck) or increasing (Boost) output voltage, slightly, in order to "clean" the power it is passing through to your electronic equipment. This is, or course, while the UPS is receiving AC power through your mains. If the voltage exceeds the minimum or maximum voltage tolerance, the system will automatically switch over to battery power, in order to protect your electronic equipment. The included PowerPanel Personal Edition software allows you a modest adjustment to these minimum and maximum voltage tolerance levels. The software also clearly displays the current status of the UPS, including voltage supplied, voltage condition, remaining battery capacity, battery status, remaining battery runtime and the current battery backed up load on the system. PowerPanel Personal Edition allows you to adjust the amount of time that your computer will remain running on battery power before shutting down. Of course you can choose to set the UPS to allow your computer to run as long as possible, but the UPS will still shut down your computer when it is down to only 5 minutes of remaining time. Therefore you will need to consider how much of a load your current equipment will put on the UPS, as too much load could cause the UPS to shutdown your computer almost immediately after an AC power failure. There is also a configuration screen for alert sounds, which allows you to enable or disable the beeping sounds this UPS would normally make during power events. There is not much more you can do with this software, which really limits its overall usefulness.

The majority of my UPS systems are made by APC. However, I wanted to try a CyberPower unit, so I purchased this smallish 510 Watt unit to provide conditioning and battery backup for a DSL modem, an Ethernet Router, a wireless access point, and a 16-port Gigabit switch. The total load of this attached hardware is only about 45 to 50 watts, at full working load. Therefore this UPS should provide battery backup long enough for me to do some moderate Internet browsing from another UPS powered PC or wirelessly from a laptop. Setup of the CyberPower UPS was completely effortless. You don't even have to hook up cables to the internal battery, which is something that all APC units require. Upon powering up the CyberPower UPS I was greeted with a nice blue LCD display, which can be toggled to show current load level, estimated run time, input voltage, output voltage, output frequency, battery capacity, and the current status of the UPS (normal AC, battery in use, AVR in use, if system overload is detected, if audible sound is enabled or disabled, or if there is a household wire fault). I think this LCD status display is very useful. However, CyberPower has decided that the consumer does not need the LCD to remain lit, for real-time monitoring. Therefore you will find that the LCD will shut itself off after about 20 seconds, unless you push the toggle button, which lights it back up again as you switch between status screens. I find this extremely annoying, as I like to be able to monitor input voltage and current power load by just glancing at the display. All of my APC UPS systems, with LCD displays, allow me to set the backlight to remain lit at all times. I just don't understand why CyberPower would not provide this ability. I don't like it when a manufacturer makes a decision for me that I don't need something, even though I specifically paid for a UPS with an LCD display. Since I paid for it, I want to see it. I don't want to have to crawl under the desk to push the doggone toggle button, just to activate the backlight so I can see the display. The engineer that designed this shortcoming should be fired!

Overall I am quite pleased with the CyberPower CP850AVRLCD UPS. It offers a reasonable amount of useful features, has plenty of backed-up (5) and surge-only (4) outlets, includes Automatic Voltage Regulation, and has a compact footprint. The battery runtime is rather low, especially when used for a mid-level or high-end PC and monitor. But for my low wattage needs, this UPS should keep my DSL modem, router, wireless access point and Ethernet switch up and running for quite some time. The LCD display shows, under the average 45 watt load I have, it will run for approximately 94 minutes. I almost expect that it will likely last even longer than that. My biggest complaints with this UPS are the weak software that CyberPower provides, as well as the unchangeable sleep mode that the LCD display goes into. CyberPower has really dumbed down this otherwise impressive UPS device. The product itself is a worthy, full-featured UPS system, but CyberPower has restricted user configuration to the point that it just can't compete with other big players in the market, like APC. For a very basic computer user, this UPS could be a good, low cost solution. But for advanced users, who demand more control of their UPS settings and features, the CyberPower CP850AVRLCD simply falls short. I think the folks at CyberPower should consider updating their PowerPanel Personal Edition software, to allow more control of voltage tolerances, automatic computer shut down, LCD backlight mode (choices for sleep mode and always on), and the ability to setup a computer hibernation rather than simply shutting down the computer. Maybe some of their higher end (more expensive) UPS systems allow for these settings, but I definitely feel that they should consider adding these abilities to models like the CP850AVRLCD as well. I could easily give this UPS 5 stars if the software was more useful and the LCD display were user controllable, but as it stands now I can only give it 4 stars at best. Everything else about this UPS is solid and well designed, so I recommend it for basic computer users that do not require power user features and configurability. Cd Storage System - cd storage system, cd storage

This product is very poorly made. The snaps barely hold together. You really need to make sure you don't even look at the box wrong or the snaps will come undone. I put the box together and let it sit overnight. The inside center separator has glue on it that holds the snaps on the end of it. This had completely come apart by morning. I ended up having to super glue it myself. It is also not perfectly square thanks to the divider. I found that CDs fit loosely on one side and tight on the other.

Bottom Line: I would avoid this box and look for another solution. Snap-N-Store SNS01658 Double Wide CD Storage Boxes Holds up to 330 CDs (Glossy Black with Chrome Accents)

THE SNAPS DO UNSNAP AND THE BOX COMES APART EASILY. I PUT GORILLA GLUE ON ALL OF THE SNAPS AND NOW IT IS PERFECT. I FILLED BOTH SIDES OF THE BOX AND NOTHING COMES UNSNAPPED. I DON'T THINK I COULD UNSNAP IT IF I WANTED Snap-N-Store SNS01658 Double Wide CD Storage Boxes Holds up to 330 CDs (Glossy Black with Chrome Accents)TO. I CAN MOVE THE BOX AROUND AS MUCH AS I WANT TO AND IT STAYS PERFECT ! ! !

WITH GORILLA GLUE IT IS A SNAP ! ! !

CHERYL

Avoid this item. I will not buy anymore of these. It looks nice, but the snaps are not properly aligned and pop out. It would be better to have velcro or double sided tape. I will take out the snaps and just tape it together. As another wrote, it is just a glorified shoe box.

The storage box is fine. It holds up to 330 CDs/DVDs (in paper or poly sleeves) which is great. However, I have doubts how it will hold up under that load. I now have about 50-60 discs in there and I already have to be careful how I pick it up. - Dvd Storage - Cd Storage - Cd Storage System - Media Storage'

Baby Wipes - sensitive skin, wipes

We've tried Pampers, Huggies, Tushies, and Nice N Clean wipes. We prefer the Nice N Clean wipes because they are soft, thick, and unscented. Pampers and Huggies while soft and thick have a strong unpleasant odor (even the "unscented" versions) and Tushies are too thin and not soft. We wanted to use the Tushies since they seem to contain the safest ingredients, but the Nice N Clean work the best to get the job done - clean the baby's tushy without any irritation using the least number of wipes.

These wipes are soft, gentle and hypoallergenic. All of those are important characteristics if your little one has a sensitive bottom. The packaging makes these wipes a great choice for stashing in the car. The lid snaps shut securely to keep the wipes moist. We use wipes in a refillable plastic container at home, but we like these wipes for stashing in the car when we're out and about.

I was looking for a wipe which is larger than what appears to be a common size 6x5 (Cottonelle, Wet Ones, Scotts) and that is truly unscented. This wipe accomplishes the size and no smell requirements quite well. However the material of the wipe itself is thinner than I expected. It is made out of some sort of stretchy material. Stretchy and thin was not what I was looking for, so I don't think I will buying this product again. I am attaching a photo which hopefully shows the thinness as you can see through the wipe itself.

We got those wipes when I gave birth to my son, when we got home we used pampers and huggies and all store brands wipes, he had diaper rash that will not go away. and finally I ordered those from amazon and he had no diaper rash since then.

I ordered 3 boxes and he is 4 month now and I still have about 6 month supplies, when comparing htose to reguler brands, I am not spending more overall, becuase those are more moist so i don't have to use 10 wipes with every diaper change.

I love them.. and being MD my self now I advice all my patients to use them.

Bought these to have on hand for the grandbabies. Didn't expect much because the price was so low, but thought they'd be good to have on hand. OH MY..these wipes are wonderful. My daughter in law puts Huggies wipes in the baby's diaper bag when they visit me but I told her to keep those Huggies wipes at home as the Nice 'N Clean wipes were a much better product. Very satisfied. - Sensitive Skin - Unscented - Wipes'

Video Production - headphone splitter, y cable

The item is unusable as a splitter with 2 sets of stereo headphones - the white jack connects to left channel (tip) only and the red jack connects to right channel (ring) only. Yet a careful look at the jacks provided shows they are stereo jacks.

Frankly, I'm not sure what the application is intended to be...I'm unable to come up with any use for it, unless you're a couple who happen to be hearing-impaired in opposite ears. Belkin F8V234 Speaker and Headphone Splitter

I ordered this thinking that i would get a splitter so that i could use two headphones for one jack. All the product did was split the audio into a left and right channel. I could only hear the left side of my headphone that was connected to the white side and vice versa.

This Belkin splitter perfectly split a stereo headphone jack into two stereo headphone jacks. The sound is great, it appears well built, and all the connections are solid. I can't ask for more.

Note that the image above is incorrect. The headphone splitter is actually all black, and looks much better for it.

I was specifically looking for a left-right channel splitter, just like the picture; one regular stereo 3.5mm jack to two separate 3.5mm jacks - one red and one white, for the left and right channels. Many reviewers complained about this cable only splitting the audio into the two separate channels, and that is exactly what I was looking for: a left-right splitter.

I ordered this assuming I would receive the pictured product, the same one the reviewers were complaining about. What I got was a simple stereo Y-splitter, which isn't what I needed or wanted to purchase.

If this seller actually has any 3.5mm left-right splitters, I would love to know and would gladly purchase one.

Like the previous reviewer, I received an all-black splitter.

Every couple of days, I lose the left channel of my speakers. I have to fully unplug and replug the connector to the splitter to get the sound working again. I believe it's the splitter because this does not happen when I don't use the splitter.

When it is working, it sounds fine, but I'm no audiophile. Oh, well. Three dollars.

This is a jack splitter, works fine, and though i do have a use for this (thus the 3 stars), this is not what i intended when i ordered it.

What i was looking for was a 3.5mm to RCA Stereo Female Cable, which is what the picture details, this is not one of those, this is merely a jack splitter, which in itself is fine, however if your like me and aren't overly experienced in tech terminologies, you might look at the picture and purchase the wrong product like i did, so be aware of what this is.

The product is 5 stars, however amazon get's 1 star for not showing the actual product, and thus the 3 stars.

I've only had the product about a month, but it's working as expected and performing fine. I can now have both my computer's speaker combo and the transmitter for my wireless headphones plugged into the same audio jack on my computer, depending on my listening preference at any given moment. (One of my computer's 2 audio jacks got messed up, that's why I needed to buy this product.) Well worth the money spent, IMO.

I really needed this to share music with a friend. After I plugged it in, it worked but was distorting the music. I would consider a higher quality one but if you are looking for an inexpensive headphone splitter, this is OK for a gift or for just sharing music with a friend. - Headphone Splitter - Audio - Cables - Y Cable'

Kindle Screen Protectors

When I was given a Kindle for my birthday (holy cow, best gift ever), I kept it in its plastic wrapping until I could get a screen protector for it. Call me nutty, but I've had to deal with the uphill battle of trying to get every last microscopic speck of stuff off of screens (and failing), so I didn't want to risk it.

What surprised me was the fact that Amazon didn't seem to carry a non-reflective/antiglare screen protector that was also firmer rather than a "film." I've had less than stellar experiences with thin protectors (namely, those suckers ALWAYS peel off around the edges) so I was set on getting a firmer protector. Amazon only seemed to carry the film type ones, and the reviews were (as expected) cruddy. But then, lo and behold, I saw this one from a company in Germany--more expensive, but also firmer, with an antiglare finish. No reviews, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway.

Superb! It arrived faster than quoted (I was quoted nearly a month, and it came in about a week) and was relatively easy to apply and position. I got all but a few tiny flecks off, even being OCD about it, and unlike some protectors this doesn't have a permeable gas membrane to make those "disappear." Still, that's not the product's fault.

Only reason I'm giving it four stars is the fit is just fractionally too small; that might be on purpose, to enable removal later. We're talking a space maybe the thickness of two standard paper pages on two edges, so very unnoticeable. We'll see how easily it comes off when it's time to replace it, but I think with the thickness of the protector (really nice) and the non-glare finish, I'm going to get a lot of life out of this. :) FoliX FX-ANTIREFLEX Antireflective screen protector for Amazon Kindle 3 / Kindle3, Kindle-III - Anti-glare screen protection!'

Replacement Battery - power adapter, power adaptor

This charger is really cheap and works with my DV4 series laptop. It charges the battery and does everything a normal charger should do for a fraction of the price compared to the chargers available at retail stores. It also does have a light on it to tell you if it is on. However, it does have some major drawbacks. One, the cord is a bit shorter than the original. Not a big deal, but it is annoying sometimes. Two, when I plug this charger into my laptop, I can hear a high pitched noise emanating from my computer; this is certainly not the case with my other original HP charger. When I plug any of my monitors into my laptop with the new charger in, the screen becomes shaky and unstable, like it is receiving interference. When I use my regular HP charger, the problem goes away. Thus, this leads me to believe that there is a problem with the way the chargers are manufactured.

Even though the price was really good, it makes me hesitant to use this charger because I am afraid that it might destroy my laptop in the long run. I would say this is a good charger to use only when no other options are available. If I knew this information when I bought the charger, I wouldn't have bought it. New Replacement AC Adapter Laptop Charger for HP Pavilion DV4 DV5 Series; HP G50 G60 Series

I was skeptical with this being $15 cheaper than others but it works fine. I got a second one for work. Now I have one for work and home offices that I don't have to unplug. I keep the original in my laptop case for the road.

Only thing to be aware of is the cord is slightly shorter than original. It is not too short by any means but it is shorter by a foot or so. So if you need this for a lengthy reach then make sure you get an extension cord or buy something else.

Hope this helps!

Perfect condition, good packaging.

Not a whole lot to say, the charger came new.. you can't beat that for this price.

I prefer it to my original adapter as the one MoonTech shipped me had an LED display for when the charger was plugged in..

Thank you, good buy if you need a replacement.

I got this adapter as a replacement for my sons laptop 3 months ago. A few days ago it started making noise and overheated and melted! Good thing we were home, it would have burned the house down. This is a piece of junk. STAY AWAY!

THIS ADAPTER CAUSED MY LAPTOP TO SHORT CIRCUIT AND CATCH FIRE!

Just because an adapter is listed to be compatible with your laptop DOES NOT MEAN IT IS! I'm not an expert and cannot properly explain it, but a technologically capable friend of mine told me that the voltage of this adapter wasn't the same as my old adapter, and the difference caused my computer to short circuit and go up in smoke. And because this happened with a replacement adapter and not the original given to me by HP, my warranty doesn't mean a damn thing. So please check to make sure the voltage is the same, I'd hate for someone to go through what I just went through!

GO WITH THE SURE THING! I really wish I would have spent the money on one approved by HP! I TRIED TO SAVE FORTY BUCKS AND NOW I HAVE TO COME UP WITH 700 FOR A NEW COMPUTER! I AM SO FULL OF RAGE.

What I paid for, and expected, was a charger that would perform up to industry standard and last AT LEAST six months. That didn't happen.

The product is horrible. Charged the laptop just fine(although it did overheat) for the first two weeks, developed a short in the next week, stopped charging completely within a month. Even the housing around the innards was poor, the cords couldn't stand up to BASIC wear and tear. Do yourself a favor, and just spring for the expensive HP replacement.

i bought this charger amazed at the price and when i received it, it worked great for around the first month but then it stopped fully charging my laptop and now doesnt even work!! then i contacted the seller and they havent answered me so i dont know what to do because i have a 12 month warrenty and i cant use it because the seller will not contact me back!!!! i am sooooo dissappointed with this product and strongly suggest you DO NOT BUY IT!!

I purchased this product because it was cheap and I didn't do much research on AC adapters. Next time, I will be more conscious about what I purchase. Not only was I shocked every time I plugged in the cord, the cord would generate an excessive amount of heat. After only a few uses, my computer started running slower, and now over-heats. Upon further inspection by an expert, I found out the plug was not properly grounded (despite having a 3rd prong), and the amperage it was outputting was much higher than it claimed... thereby melting my computer. Awesome right?

Anyway, I have since returned this cord, and have purchased a much better one. In my opinion this AC adapter is a waste of time and money. For the safety of your outlets and your computer buy something else.

I ordered this replacement charger in October and it worked fine until last week. The charger began getting very hot and eventually stopped working. I actually watched it as it sizzled and made a spark. Now it doesn't work at all. I'm just thankful that it didn't harm my laptop or worse, burn my house down.

The price is low for this charger, but the risk is not worth it. - Hp - Laptop - Power Adaptor - Power Adapter'

Gaming Headphones - fatality, headset

I play lots of video games on my PC and they've been a lot more enjoyable since getting this headset. The first thing I noticed when I put these on was that they were extremely cushiony on my head. This is both a good and bad thing because it makes them very comfortable, but they blocked out so much noise that I had a hard time hearing even my doorbell or phone ringing. The headset is a bit tight on my head, but I think that'll wear off as I wear it more. The earcups actually swivel a bit in place which makes them more comfortable for people that don't have perfectly symmetrical heads such as myself.

This headset is great for gaming. In fps's like Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike Source, this headset let me hear the direction shots were being fired from with a lot more precision than my previous headset. I could also hear small details in the sounds that I couldn't hear before. The sound in the headset sounded odd at first, like they were quiet or like they were coming from behind me, but after a while they felt more realistic and accurate. I am guessing this is because I am used to wearing any old lousy headset.

The headset is also great for music. I noticed a huge improvement in the quality of the bass from my old headset(the headset I used before, a Logitech Extreme Gaming Headset had almost no bass). I'm not a huge music person, but I notice the little details a lot more easily than with my old headset

The microphone with this headset is pretty good. When voice-chatting on MSN/live messenger, the voice quality is better than when talking to someone with my phone. The in-line controls are in a good position and easy to reach while wearing the headset. The microphone-mute button works fine and the volume control has a good range. One nice thing about it is that you can remove the microphone, which is useful for people like my little brother who rarely need a microphone and don't want it in their way (one thing to note is the first time I tried attaching the mic, I didn't realize it has to fit a specific way into the slot on the headset and accidentally chipped a piece of the plastic by forcing it in the wrong way, but it still works perfectly fine).

This headset is not perfect however. I've found one tiny problem that may occur, though it's not really something to worry about. I have this headset plugged into my speaker, which is then connected to the back of my computer so it probably wont affect you unless you have a similar setup. If I have the volume set to the absolute max on my speaker but lowered all the way on my headset, I can sometimes still hear sound playing quietly through my headset. This only occurs under these specific conditions though, so you should never really have this problem unless you really push your headset's limits.

Overall the headset does not have many flaws and feels great to work with. It's very comfortable and is easily adjustable for different uses. Don't be fooled, even though this headset is a lot cheaper than the other fatality headsets, it still has excellent sound quality at an affordable price.

PS: One thing they don't note on the box for this headset is that it comes with a neat little pouch. It's a bit odd, because although you probably could fit the headset in there, it's not exactly shaped for one so it would look and feel a bit odd to store it there. It's nice quality, measuring about 9x10 inches, but would probably be used for other things besides the headset. It's nice to have laying around the house anyway. Creative Labs 51MZ0310AA005 HS-800 Fatal1ty Gaming Headset (Black)

I'm not sure why but mic/headphones don't seem to be easy to make- they tend to be expensive or lousy or both. This one is the first pair I've bought that I've been happy with.

The ear muffs are comfortable for relatively extensive use. I've used them for about two hours straight without my ears or head starting to hurt or get sweaty. The muffs also muffle out a lot of the ambient noise- it's not noise canceling but it's easy to hear conversations even when the TV is playing in the other room.

The mic works well also- people don't hear me breathing but can still hear what I'm saying well. It doesn't get in the way although the connector to the removable mic does get loose about once a week- you just push it back in and it's fine. I have noticed that Skype thinks the volume of the mic is too low but people I'm talking to say it works just fine.

Now to some of the relatively minor downsides- the mic switch is hard to see if you wear glasses but don't have them on. The writing and icons are small and written in silver so you basically just have to memorize which way is which same with the volume control which is a small wheel in the same plastic bobble on the headset cord.

The cord is of good length and good quality- no intermittent breakups or breakages yet which is something I can't say about all headsets. - Headset - Gaming Headphones - Creative - Fatality'

Nintendo Ds Docking Station

I bought this charger for my son's DS Lite. He kept loosing his wall charger so I thought he would have better luck keeping this one. So far so good. I like that he can keep it on his desk to charge overnight. The only bad thing is that you still need the wall charger to hook up to this charger so it can work. Black Charger Dock Stand Station For Nintendo DS Lite Console

After one time on this charger, my daughters DS was trashed. It charged on the charger, but then never turned on again. I had to spend just under $100 to have it fixed by Nintendo who told me that this particular charger was NOT verified with their company. Nintendo actually even went on Amazon w/ me on the other end of the line and we looked up this charger together, they were not taking a stab in the dark on it being verified by Nintendo. They could not confirm that the charger was what did it, but said it was more than likely. The DS was not even fixable, they sent me a new DS. This charger was a waste of money and I just threw it away. Cool concept, but stick with Nintendo brands or Nintendo certified products. If certified, they will say so or you can call Nintendo and they will tell you. Lesson learned.'

Dont Waste Your Money - adapter, travel

This is a nicely designed adapter that handle multiple plugs from either end (not all adapters do this). It is unfortunate that people do not undertsand the difference between an adapter and a transformer, and cannot read the labels on electrical appliances. If something is rated as 110/120V and you use the adapter to plug it into a 220/240V source, one should not be surprised to see smoke. Transformers are bulkier and more expensive, but not needed for most electronics whose power supply will handle 110/120/220/240V. If unsure, READ THE LABEL. Tripshell International TR-Adap-BK Travel Plug Adapter With Surge Protection, Retail Package (Black)

After reading the reviews, I decided to order the adapter with the Amazon for my 10 day trip to Paris and London. I was extremely pleased with this product. I used it to charge my camera's battery and phone every night and it worked beautifully. I highly recommend this adapter and the price is a steal! Get it! You won't be disappointed.

China is a country that has various different electrical outlets depending on the region of the country traveled. The Tripshell Travel Adapter offered the use of electricity as we traveled from region to region for the past month. It is easy to use and to carry.

This worked quite well in a couple of countries. It is easy for small or large hands to grip and change prongs. It also appears to have the option of connecting to USB devices, but did not come with the appropriate connector.

One of the better plug adapters I have used.

I took this surge protector with me to China, where I was working for 6 weeks. It was just what I needed: it was a surge protector, and allowed me to plug in all of my devices (laptop, cell charger, and phone battery charger). It has 4 different types of plug adapters too, so I can't wait to try it in another country! - Power Plug Adapter - Surge Protector - Travel - Adapter'

Hearing Protector - radio, hearing protector

I tune and rebuild pianos as a hobby, so you can imagine how much I value my hearing. I never even swing a hammer without hearing protection, so I have a pair of earmuffs on pretty much all the time while in the shop.

Of course, I also love music. Since I got the Worktunes headphones, I can listen to my music clearly without having to blast it over the sounds of power equipment.

Pros: Digital tuning. Memory presets. Lasts 2 solid days on AA batteries when listening to the radio. Pretty durable. Great reception in rural areas (as good as can be expected from an antenna of this size). Speaker sound quality and dynamic range from an external MP3 player is excellent - much better than I expected.

Cons: In cities and areas of strong signals, the receiver frontend saturates easily and you will hear several stations poorly at once (intermodulation). This is a common problem for many simple FM receivers.

The volume knob doesn't function for the MP3 input... it would be nice if I could change the volume of my music without fidgeting with the MP3 player. This also means that the MP3 input bypasses the amplification circuitry. The power for sound comes from your tiny MP3 player's battery rather than the cheap robust AA batteries in the headphones. That was poor engineering, as it would have been very easy to pipe in the input through the audio amp - sparing the tiny MP3 battery and utilizing the volume knob. In fact, I will modify the input in this manner very soon.

With the radio and the noise reduction, you really can't hear a darn thing that is going on. That could be good and bad. Someone could be robbing your shop in a bulldozer and you'd never know it. Two people have already snuck up on me while wearing these. Be aware of your security. I would not recommend using these while working in a bad neighborhood, or in a situation where a partner will be depending on you to hear screams for help.

Summary: For the price, don't expect anything perfect. The radio problem is minor and common. The noise reduction is excellent. This product exceeded my expectations. If I break these, I will gladly buy another pair. I don't know how I lived without them!

This Worktunes AM/FM headphone radio (#90541) isn't worth buying, even at the reduced price Amazon is selling them for. They are junk.

I was persistent and tried out two(2) of the Worktunes from Amazon, thinking the first one was just defective from the factory. Amazon was good at replacing them promptly.

I think the unit is good for hearing protection against outside loud sounds or perhaps as a MP3 only listening device (I hadn't tried that) and, though tight on the head, it fits around ears well(a little tight) and is fairly comfortable. But, as a digital AM/FM radio, it is the poorest radio I've ever owned. I've seen similar comments from others hear.

I have a similar digital AM/FM (with an input jack) headphone radio that I purchased about 10 years ago from Radio Shack that is three (3) times better for listening to AM/FM stations while working. I wanted to replace it because the outside noise wasn't being blocked enough when I cut my grass or worked in the woodshop and the earmuff part of the headphone was getting pretty ragged. I like the digital tuning part of the radio.

I owned a "dial-type" tuner AM/FM headphone radio once that kept getting knocked off station every time you bumped the radio's tuner dial. This would happen while bending your head and the radio touching your shoulder, or your forearm touches the dial while working-I'll never buy the dial-type one again for listening while working.

I have the same local AM and FM stations that I can pickup very well with my table top radios, the Radio Shack AM/FM headphone radio, and an undercounter radio, that this radio picks up either poorly or not at all. The local FM station (~15-20 miles away) sounds good unless you turn your head. It starts to fade into other FM stations. The only way to then get the signal back is to either turn your head back where it was or put your hand on it's whip antenna. This shouldn't happen on a FM channel. There is definitely something wrong with the FM antenna system (probably AM, too) on this radio.

The AM station's reception is similar to my Radio Shack unit. You face one direction, you get the station. You face another direction, the signal goes away. The only difference with the Worktunes, compared to my Radio Shack radio, is that the Worktunes won't even pickup, at all, a station about 30 miles away.

This radio has antenna, perhaps internal radio circuitry problems. I expected more from a Peltor radio. I tried to find information on the Net about these reception problems, from the company that makes the radio, without luck.

I returned my last Worktunes to Amazon within the 30 days and am awaiting a full refund.

I'll keep an eye out for another company making a digital AM/FM headphone radio, or for Peltor to come out with a redesigned digital AM/FM headphone radio before buying one again.

Hope this helps others decide on their purchase of this radio. - Hearing Protection - Radio - Hearing Protector - Noise Reduction'

Elliptical Trainer

I ended up buying this at a local sports store and like the previous two reviewers was a bit wary to buy it because there were no reviews. I ended up finally buying it because of the reputation that Schwinn has with its other ellipticals and was not disappointed.

I had no difficulty putting it together by myself but it would be best to have two people. Thank you reviewer Toasty for informing me that the water bottle holder is not included. I'll stop searching my house for the damn thing now. I thought I lost it. The bolts, screws, and washers come on two cardboard sheets along with two wrenches and a hex/screw driver. You will have the screws left over for the water bottle holder. The programming was pretty straight forward until I got to the custom program level. I'm still not sure how I got past that screen.

The elliptical itself feels sturdy and well built. I am 300 pounds and it supports my weight without shaking or wobbling. The 18" stride and the handles feel comfortable for my 5'10" frame. I heard some complaints from the salesmen at the sports store that the handles were to far forward but I did not have that problem. The console is pretty basic but what was expected for the price.

Bottom line is if you are looking for a sub $600 elliptical that is well built, this is the one for you. Schwinn 420 Elliptical Trainer

I was wary if purchasing a product with no reviews on Amazon, but I found other reviews of this machine online and decided to take a risk. I'm glad I did. So far, this machine has met all my expectations.

Setup

Took about 1.5 hours total with 2 people (don't even attempt to do this with 1 person). As I expected, some parts were harder to do than others because of the way the holes line up, but in the end I managed to put it all together. Don't make the mistake of adjusting the levelers before you put it all together like I did; otherwise you'll have to put them back at factory setting to realign the holes so the bolts can go through. I also made sure to spray all the moving parts with silicone lubricant as I was putting it together.

Note that you may want an actual wrench of some sort, in addition to the tools they provide you with. Also note that the cupholder they describe in the instructions is not actually included. (even though it is in the product description, an addendum to the instructions says it is not included) The touted "magazine rack" is also just a lip on the console, so don't expect anything fancy.

Console

The interface is very confusing (and I work in computers, so I'm not a novice with technology). I still haven't managed to figure out how to do a customized program, despite running through the instructions step-by-step. However, since I rarely do programs anyway, I don't really care about this feature. There is also no backlight.

The heart rate monitor takes a while to settle at your "real" heart rate, almost a minute, so either always keep your hands on the monitor or don't count on using it too often.

Use

This machine is super-quiet, with no squeaking so far. I can watch TV at normal volume while doing my workouts. There were several complaints that on the 430 (the predecessor to this model), the easiest level was acutally pretty difficult, and I don't find that to be the case here at all even though I haven't worked out at all in months.

The stride works for me, as I'm short (5'0"). The handlebars are also fine for me, but just barely. Any further and they would be very awkward to grip.

***UPDATE*** after almost 2 years of use <Aug 19 '11>:

Just wanted to update my review, as my husband and I have used this machine 3 times/week each for almost 2 years. It still operates smoothly, no strange noise or stiffness anywhere.

I really like the fact that this machine doesn't stop counting the work-out time when I pedal backwards (some machines don't know what to do with that, and stops counting the distance etc.) We're STILL very happy about this purchase. Thought I'd update the review and let you all know that as this is a large purchase (at least for us).

<Sep 25 '09>

As Toasty mentioned, I was also unsure of purchasing this machine without any reviews posted but I did anyway. I've been working out with Precor elliptical machine at a nearby gym and I quite liked it but decided to purchase Schwinn 420 for my exercise room at home (did not want to pay thousands of dollars).

The assembly took just under 2 hours and you do need 2 people. The package is quite heavy as well so do not attempt to build this on your own. The workout is smooth and quiet which is a real treat. I also found setting the custom work-out was a bit hard but I figured it out eventually.

And no, the WATER BOTTLE HOLDER is NOT INCLUDED in this purchase.

Overall you will not be disappointed with this machine especially at this price. It looks good, makes you work out hard and keeps you in shape. I'm short (5' 2") and my husband's 6' but we both find the size of this machine suiting.

We enjoyed our Schwinn 420 for almost 6 whole months before it died. We came home from vacation, and it was making a loud knocking noise from the motor housing. Thereafter, it gave the dreaded E-2 error...

We are extremely disappointed with the quality of this machine, which has only been exacerbated by the poor service we have received while trying to repair it. To start, every phone call to Nautilus takes about an hour to get a human being. After the first phone call, they were sure it was the console that had failed and I waited two weeks for the replacement. Of course the new console gives the same error. Another hour of sitting on hold and re-explaining how the device failed, and now they are certain it must be the motor. Oops, they don't actually carry that part; I'm supposed to wait for 3-4 weeks while they see if they get replacement parts (then wait for another two weeks for shipping). If and when it does arrive, I'm supposed to go to a bike store so I can buy a crankshaft puller (somewhere in the $20-30 range) and spend my weekend pulling apart my gently used 150 pound paperweight.

You might guess I was less than enthusiastic about the above scenario, so I asked that they simply replace the elliptical since they didn't have the parts necessary to fix it and certainly could not guarantee that this new part would actually make it functional. That replacement request also carries a 2 week waiting period. After two and a half weeks, I sent them an email asking whether they would grant this request for a replacement elliptical. Of course that email to the person who said it would take two weeks and would certainly contact me with the result was ignored. It's been about 5 weeks total now without our elliptical, and I don't have much hope of that changing anytime soon.

Our last elliptical from Eclipse lasted for over 5 years and cost less than this Schwinn by a couple hundred dollars. I don't think I will buy another Schwinn or Nautilus product and hope you don't have the misfortune of having to deal with their product support.'
