Angle Grinders

Being a welder at work, I need to grind weld beads flush at times. I was especially impressed with this product when used on stainless steel, it not only grinds fast but leaves a smooth finish when done. DEWALT DW8308 4-1/2-Inches x 7/8-Inches 60 Grit Zirconia Angle Grinder Flap Disc

Used a few of these flat wheels to refurbish a rusty mower. Worked slick and so much better then a flexible abrasive disc. Anyone with a 4-1/2" grinder should have a few of these to go with the other discs.'

Tv

After 3 years of BREAKING BAD, I'm still amazed and bemused that I've grown to care so very much about a meth manufacturer and his messed-up, addictive young assistant. In Season One, Walter White (Bryan Cranston, in one of the best performances of the decade) was a mild-mannered high school science teacher who finds out he's likely dying of cancer, and uses his knowledge of chemistry to concoct a really excellent form of meth. He turns to a former student and druggie, Jesse (Aaron Paul, in one of the other great performances of the decade) to help him sell the stuff. The two form an awkward bond, punctuated by nearly comedic moments when their ineptitude causes endless trouble for them. Walt struggles to hide his double life from his wife Skylar, his sickly teenage son and his brother-in-law Hank, who happens to be a DEA agent.

In Season Two, the success of Walt's meth draws unwanted attention from various law enforcement types, as well as those on the wrong side of the law. Walt's secret becomes harder to hide, and Jesse and Walt grow estranged as several bad turns force a wedge between them. Jesse falls in love, but he and his girl, a recovering addict, don't exactly help each other out. Walt & Jesse are further "assisted" by a new attorney (Bob Odenkirk, offering probably the only comic relief to be found anymore) who tried hard to help these two launder their money. The season ends badly, with tragedies both personal and widespread...and Walt's marriage is in shambles.

Season 3 introduces us to a new Walt, one that has been evolving since the beginning. He's now a hardened criminal, still showing his mild-mannered side...but also fully turned over to his darkness. In Season Two, he committed a couple of acts that were so horrific that he can no longer really look himself in the mirror and see the "good guy" he once was. He partners with a local drug kingpin (wonderfully played by Giancarlo Esposito) and begins to manufacture on a scale he had scarcely imagined possible. Jesse struggles with loss and addiction, and it's a long time before these two old partners come together again.

There are many wonderful things about the show and Season 3. First, the character evolution is better than on almost any other show on TV. You can actually track the changes to these folks in a way that makes you realize that most other TV characters basically remain unchangeable. You see that Walt has become a crafty "bad" guy...he has truly broken bad. His wife has evolved. His son. Hank. And poor Jesse. They hardly resemble the characters we first met...and time has not been kind to any of them. And with the excellent writing, directing and acting...we can practically feel the guild and corruption pouring off of them.

The show introduces some great new characters, and develops Esposito & Odenkirk to a great extent. I particularly enjoyed the two hit men from south of the border. These two cousins are vicious killers who never speak a word...and you'd be hard-pressed to find two creepier characters in recent TV history. They are introduced in the squirm-inducing first scene of the season...setting you up perfectly to be on edge for just about anything all year. Midway through the season, Hank and these two cousins have a brief scene together that is easily among the most exciting, tense, jaw-dropping few minutes in television history. I rarely find myself needing to yell at the television and the characters on it...but any viewer of BREAKING BAD will be hard-pressed not to jump up and down and yell. That five minutes alone make the season worthwhile...it's almost like the final 6 minutes of SIX FEET UNDER made watching that whole series worthwhile.

I really don't want to spoil anything, but suffice it to say that Walt and Jesse are headed to some very dark places. Walt has few redeeming qualities left to him...but his concern for the moral life of Jesse is one very touching quality he retains. Because he feels so irredeemably corrupted himself, he "runs interference" against some of Jesse's self-destructive tendencies. And near the end, when that concern is also twisted by fate and circumstance...it becomes almost unbearable for the viewer. When was the last time you sat on the edge of your seat over a MORAL DILEMMA?!?!

The quality of this show is nearly unsurpassed. It is very thoroughly only for adults though. There is almost no behavior to admire. It is brutal and blunt and gritty. (It also uses Albuquerque, my town, VERY well...which gives me an extra dose of love for the show. We see real locations, real local restaurants, even real local pizza carryout joints.) But it is so tightly constructed from both a plot and character standpoint that it provides intelligent, gripping entertainment. And the work of Aaron Paul, and particularly Bryan Cranston, is so superb that any appreciator of fine acting really should tune in.

If you haven't seen the show before, PLEASE go back and start from the beginning. It truly has been like one long journey, and it begs to be appreciated from its starting point. But for heaven's sake, SEE IT! Breaking Bad Season 3 [HD]

I watch alot of series but Breaking Bad takes the proverbial cake. This season we really get down and dirty with Walt going through his divorce and Skylar's anger causing her to react in all sorts of ways. I love the show mainly because it is about good people having to do bad things for different reasons. It makes the viewer really think. There are alot of grim moments this season, it is a grim show overall, always has been, but that is what makes it so genius. Season three is highly addictive and moves quickly with edge of your seat suspense in every epidode. There are never boring moments in Breaking Bad. Not only do we get to really get in Walt's mind, but Jesse gets a more pivotal role this season and I have to say I am glad. Jesse is one of my favorite characters and he has to makes hard decisions as so much is going on in his life. I find myself very drawn to Jesse's character and his turmoil. Walt is a sort of father figure to Jesse and something major happens that really shows the viewer what lengths Walt will go to for Jesse. How their relationship develops is touching at times and frustrating at others. A new druglord is introduced which gives the show an overall tenseness and of course with Walt's brother in law's involvement it makes for some tense moments as well. The show is not light on violence and never sugarcoats what being a meth cooker would be like. There are all kinds of dilemmas and moral decisons to be considered. All in all it is a high octane season and every time the episode ends you just want more. I found myself crying throughout the procession of this season as there are alot of heavy circumstances. I love this show and can't wait until Season Four. The series finale leaves the viewer hanging so badly that I felt like screaming. Enjoy!!'

Hitachi Brad Nailer

This is one of the best tools I have ever had. Operates flawlessly every time. I use Bostich nails/brads because they are easier to find (all sizes up to 2") and the nailer works perfectly. The "height" adjustment is easy. The "jam release" mechanism is great - but the tool has never jammed. Excellent Product! James Willard Hitachi NT50AE2 18-Gauge 5/8-Inch to 2-Inch Brad Nailer

This is by far the best brad nailer I have ever used in my 20 years as a trim carpenter. It is very light weight ,powerfull, and looks great too! Hitachi has always been a pro-quality grade tool and this brad nailer is a great addition to there collection of pro-quality tools.

The one thing that swayed me to this model was definitely a key advantage. With this nailer, the safety slide peg is mounted behind the nail channel, which means you can get nails into tighter spots with this model than you can with others. The Bostich and others have the slide out in front of the nail channel which means the brad comes out about a quarter inch back from the forward-most part of the tool tip. With this Hitachi the brad comes out at the very front, which is very nice when putting nails in tight corners.

This tool is so handy and does such a nice job, I wonder what would ever make me buy a finish nailer. I'm pretty sure this brad nailer would do those jobs for me too.

Three minor disadvantages drop this to a 4-star rating (reallly 4.5), but it's not because I think there's a better one out there, it's just that there's room for improvement.

1. It's not oil-free. Not a big deal but it would be nicer to not have to bother with oil.

2. The lightest (shallowest) nail depth setting is still a little too powerful. With short brads in soft material many were penetrating too deep. It would be nice to be able to go a little shallower by a step or two.

3. The case is compact and handy, but there's no extra space in there to put nails or oil. Luckily they molded a spot for safety glasses (included) which I have emptied out to store my oil and a few brads there instead. I always have safety glasses with me anyway so that space is better used for nailer-specific items. There is extra volume inside there but its molded over in plastic so you can't use it. Again, nobody else seems to do a better job of this, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be improved.

In summary, a great tool. I can't believe I lived so long without it. A brad nailer makes many jobs much easier, allowing me to do things I couldn't do before with just two hands.

The price was more than right. This is an excellent deal. I used Milwaukee brads for it, and no jams so far. It would be nice if it had a better tip on it though. Comparing price and value with other brands, I would buy this one again. Up until 6 months ago I never knew Hitachi made good tools. Hitachi is my preferred brand for pneumatic right now. The only guns I probably wouldnt buy are their framing nailers, only because the PC is so much cheaper and does the job so well. Buy this gun, you can't go wrong. Along with the tip, the thing that really puzzles me is, I can go buy a $20 no name gun kit, and IT INCLUDES OIL IN THE CASE! (not to mention a couple thousand nails) Here I buy a Hitachi, and not a drop. How about including a small bottle of oil guys? The fifty cents it would cost the company would be well worth it to build greater brand loyalty.

I got this brad nailer as a back up to my Stanley Bostitch nailer and it feels more balanced than my Bostitch.

As others have mentioned, the the gun ships in a case without oil! I don't really mind it at all because I have lots of oil lyring around. But for those who are just starting out with pneumatic nailer, you should get some oil before you start firing nails with it.

I like that fact that it has the sequential trip and the bump fire built into the gun at the flip of the switch, a feature that my Bostitch does not have. It sinks nails well and countersinks it to the right depth once adjusted properly. I use combination of Porter Cable as well as Bostitch brand brads and not had a jam or misfire yet. I have test fired it very rapidly (3-4 brads per second) in sequential fire and bump fire mode and also not jammed.

I would have given it 5 stars if not for 2 small things which I found can be improved. The depth of drive adjustment wheel is easier to turn. It's located between the magazine and the nose. Not the easiest to turn if your fingers are not dexterous. My Bostitch had the adjustment wheel located in front of the nose. Secondly, the exhaust swivels 360 with some detents. But I think the exhaust can be improved because it 's only a cheap piece of plastic held in place by a ring groove. Not very easy to adjust the exhaust unlike the bostitch which has the exhaust adjustment incoporated into the top cap.

But overall, it's a well built gun and will buy it again and will recomend to friends if the sale comes around once again. Much better than some POS that is made in cheap china factory with no QC.

I had used a Bostich brad nailer of the same configuration and I found the Hitachi to have a better feel to it; it is lighter and packs a nice punch. There is one feature the Bostich has that I wish the Hitachi had and that is the oiling; the Bostich does not require oiling while the Hitachi does; no big deal, it is just not convenient and easy to feorget.

Pro: Excellent feel and worked flawlessly during two weeks of remodeling. Great on baseboards, moldings, cabinets, etc.. This is the perfect nailer for working around the house. Got this from Amazon for less than $60 with no tax and free shipping. $90 + tax at Lowe's.

Con: The no-mar tip could be better because it made very small dents. No oil included. A bit loud.

Still 5 stars because it's a wonderful tool compared to other nailers I used before.'

Wedding Present - knife set, bamboo block

The Good:

Excellent knives for $119. Good weight and balance of handle and blade. It feels great in your hand. Razor sharp but sharpening is a must before each use (or at least every other use). It may not have the prestige presence of a Wusthof or Henckels set on the kitchen counter, but it DOES NOT look cheap. Its Japanese design and bamboo block make it more of a resemblance of a Shun knives set. And Shun is actually more expensive than the two more popular brands.

The Bad:

Handle's finish becomes very flat and dull after wash. Dab a little oil on a paper towel and rub it on the handle and it will look fantastic without being slippery.

The Ugly:

The Ginsu name seems to make it sounds like a cheap TV offer knives set. But believe me it looks and performs like a $500 set.

***Best knives set for your money. You will not find a better knives set for $120 unless you find a set of high end Shun, Wusthof or Henckels for 85% off at a closeout sale somewhere. Ginsu 7112 Chikara 12-Piece Stainless Steel Knife Set with Block

Don't let the name Ginsu fool you: This is a beautiful, professional-level knife set that screams quality--at an exceptionally low price (list price = $169.95). Ginsu has really upped its game (note that there are a lot of cheap knock-off knives out there that call themselves Ginsu, especially Ginsu 2000 and 3000, which are total junk). Several other points: 1. This set recently won a best in category Housewares Design Award; 2. The knives and block are made in China (just an fyi); 3. The company is actually owned by Berkshire Hathaway, i.e., Warren Buffet; 4. You should not run these through the dishwasher; 5. You will need to think about a sharpening system in addition to usual honing steel that comes with the set (I suggest the Edgemaker Pro system, which, if you search hard enough on the 'net, can be had for as little as $22.95 with free shipping). Shipping was very fast from this merchant.

I have been a professional chef for over twenty years and have always reserved my good quality knives for use at work. I have had a few budget sets for home use over the years (since I worked a lot I didn't do enough cooking at home to justify spending $200-$300 for a high quality block set for the house). When I saw this set on Amazon, I was very skeptical; and as a chef, I really didn't want a set of "Ginsu" knives sitting on my counter. So I researched these knives on several different sites and decided to give them a try.

I am extremely satisfied with the performance of these knives and I am recommending them to all of my aquaitances. I was truly shocked to get such a high quality set of knives with great such great weight, strength, and balance for under $120.

Buy these knives.

I first bought just the santoku knive and absolutely fell in love with it, so I decided to buy the full set, figuring an extra santoku knife certainly couldn't hurt considering how useful it is.

First, if you are a fan of Japanese knives like Shun, these give you an equally handsome and *far, far less* expensive option. I am not saying the blades have the same beauty and quality of Shun Damascus steel, but they are sharp, keep their edges well, and are easily sharpened. More importantly, they work very well, so well that I have stopped using my other knives.

This set would also make an excellent graduation or wedding present. And the Ginsu name also gives a fun, kitsch quality.

Excellent product at a very good price. Have previously owned knives costing much, much more, and these are just as good--if not better. Definitely worth considering. Check out Consumer Reports--that's what gave me the idea. They compared very favorably with knives costing $100's more.

All i have to say is WOW! These knifes really cut professionally and they look like they cost about $500 sitting in my kitchen. I think thses Knifes are the second best Ginsu has to offer and they are amazing. I used the biggest knife to cut up a watermelon seamlessly, and the smallest paring knife to make and orange "fall" apart. To get them for a lil over [...] is a steal. Well worth it and its actually fun to wash and take care of them!

The pro:

1) They are really sharp. I have a 8" Wusthof classic chef knife which is a great knife. But in terms of sharpness, the chef knife from this set exceeds my Wusthof.

2) The balance of the knives are also excellent.

3) The whole set looks beautiful on the countertop.

The con:

1) the material and detail finish of the handle is not top quality and the color is dull

2) the vertical opening of the knife block is not convenient in the limited space between kitchen cabinet and countertop.

Overall, it is a great buy in its price range especially for those who focus on the knife functionalities.

OK, this knife set is excellent, in this price range it's almost impossible to find anything better. Very sharp like razor (I mean real razor), very good quality, beautiful design, well balanced. Do not leave them in the water overnight or they will rust, I actually done that they did rust just a little. Well just a little care for your goods is always a good choice. I love this set a lot. I would give it 10 stars if I could:)

I'm an extremely obsessive buyer; I research all my purchases to make sure I get the best product possible that fits in my price range. When I was shopping for knives I had a few qualities in mind that I wanted the set to have. I wanted forged (these are); I wanted a chef's knife, paring, utility, and honing steel (this set has it); I wanted them to be very sharp (this set is!); I wanted them to look stylish (this set looks great); I wanted a block (this set has a decent block); and I wanted to spend less than 250 (this set was only 90 bucks!).

When shopping for knives I discovered that I really like the Japanese style. I was going to either buy shun or global and piece my set together. Shun is a higher quality knife than these, but for every day use in the kitchen, there is really no difference in functionality between the shun and ginsu chikara (some elitist chefs are going to kill me for saying that). The main difference is that one knife from shun will cost more than this entire set. The Ginsu chikara knives also look very similar to the shun (they probably copied the design) and are much sharper than the wusthof knife my roommate has.

I really like the santuku knife and the steak knives. I find myself cutting my food more because they are so much fun to use. I picture myself as a samurai and try to cut my meat with one stroke (cheesy I know) Anyway, I recommend these if you are looking for an awesome quality knife for a low price. Yes, you could spend 5 times as much and get a slightly better set but the knives will only be one notch better.

Take care of the knives. I read some reviews about rust yet mine haven't rusted at all. I wash them by hand and dry them off after. Also the top loading block could have been improved. I need to put the set at the end of my counter so I have enough room to pull the knives up. At least the thing looks good, especially with my bamboo floor.

I recommend this set. - Knife Block Sets - Bamboo Block - Knife Set - Knife'

Scuba Diving - snorkeling, fins

Very happy with these, with some caveats:

Size runs large; I wear size 11 running shoes and the 10/11 fins were too loose; the next size down, 8.5/9.5, fits perfectly: toes have plenty of room, yet heel does not slip out.

These are a perfect length for pool work: longer than zoomers and shorter than most other fins, and lighter too.

They are advertised as being good for bad knees, which is why I got them, but they are a little stiff for that claim. They are made from a much stiffer plastic than most fins, plus there are two thick plastic ribs extending out along the bottom of the fin, making them very stiff. I was able to shave these ribs down and get better flex, fine for my knees now, but this may shorten the life of the fins. Cressi Light Swim Fin, Pool and Training Short Blade Full Foot Fins, 8.5/9.5

I was looking for fins that would be easier to walk with when going into or out of the water when snorkeling at a beach, while still providing a thrust boost over bare feet, and these did the job nicely. Comfortable fit.

I purchased these fins for travel to Mexico and utilized them for snorkeling. Because they are smaller, they pack well and fit perfectly. I would highly recommend them and they are a bargain compared to other fins.

I purchased these fins for travel snorkeling based on the amazon reviews. For the most part I am satisfied with the fins in the water, although I would say they are a bit to stiff. I was hoping that with some wear they would loosed up, but this has not been the case.

Sizing on the other hand leave much to be desired. I typically wear a men's size 9.5-10.0 shoe and purchased the 8.5-9.5 fins. Upon purchase, I noticed the fins are labeled 43-44 (European), which I have found typically translates to a 9.5 to 10 or sometimes a 10 to 11 shoe size in the U.S. Still the length of the fins are not altogether that far off. the width however is considerably looser than desired - I would expect they fit an individual with wide(er) feet. I tend to wear standard width shoes with a bias towards narrower fits. The loose fit causes me to experience foot cramping very quickly in open water. I bought a pair of 3mm fin socks and paired the two together. With the socks, the fins really seemed to hit a groove. They were much more comfortable and did not cause any cramping (90+ minutes of continuous use in open water).

Conclusion: fit seems to be the biggest issue with these fins. If you can find a good size for you, they can be great travel fins. I would just prefer a bit more flex in the fin blade.

I bought these solely based on the Amazon reviews and they turned out to be just as good as advertised. I took them to Chankanaab Park in Cozumel Mexico and they were fantastic for snorkeling there. They fit well and because they are smaller they packed very easily and are easy to carry. For what its worth, I wear a size 11 shoe and the 10 - 11 size fit perfectly. Highly recommended.

My young children have had swim fins of their own. I have used fins belonging to others before, but I have never owned a pair of my own until now.

Love Em! I swim laps in an Olympic Pool as my children attend their swim classes. I wear a men's 10.5 to 11 -depending on the shoe; These fins fit great!

I have rediscovered how fun it is to swim under water. -Dolphin Kick style like "Patrick Duffy's 'Man from Atlantis'" tv show I saw as a kid. Ha!

Note: These are training fins. They are not as stiff nor as large as diving fins. They would be fine for most snorkling outings though I'm sure.

These fit my seven year old perfectly, but the white part you see in the product description is so incredibly short that basically the flippers do not propel you through the water. They're more like oversized shoes than flippers. My daughter found it much easier to swim barefoot. My wife and I have been snorkeling for years, we got a great mask and snorkel for our daughter, but these flippers were very disappointing. - Snorkeling - Training Fins - Swimming - Fins'

Blue Topaz - gift idea, pendants

It's a nice piece that I bought for my gf, who likes it a lot. Only comment is that it's small. About the size of a dime. And there's a bit of fine print engraving on the side about generic manufacturing info, but that's hardly noticeable when it's worn. Sterling Silver Blue Topaz Heart Pendant, 18"

I bought this as a gift which it was well liked. The actually heart pennant is smaller than a dime and the stone in the middle is very small but still altogether a very nice looking piece of jewelry. The chain seems to be made well and comes with the traditional locking clamps in the back.

I read the other comments about the size and writing on the side which I was fine with, however the stone is NOT blue (it is clear). Doesn't look like the photo on the website. When I ordered this I didn't see the other comment about the stone color.

I ordered this necklace as a bridesmaid necklace, and though it was really cute and would have gone with the dress well, it was much small than I thought it would be. It is probably the size of a penny, so keep that in mind when buying this product

how can this be, its says china on a side, its brake all the beauty style its got, its not big deal but god, it says china hehehehe, and... i dont know how but, topaz its a grade 8 hardness gem and mines come with a really depressing

scrach and looks mistreated.. i dont known if this was cause of the ship or a bad cut from the jeweller....beside this good product.. - Heart Necklace - Pendants - Heart Pendant - Gift Idea'

Hdtv - hdtv, panasonic

To preface this I have had 2 P50ST30s (one replacement because of the problems I will talk about below) and Amazon was awesome with the whole return and replacement. One of the best companies I have dealt with. This is a very long review as I would like you to understand what you are buying beforehand.

ALL VERSIONS OF PANASONIC 2011 TVs ARE EXHIBITING THIS PROBLEM.

I was excited when I first set up my TV and took the time to age the phosphors in the TV for 150 hours by running slides (a step that can be skipped but the phosphors degrade in the first 100 hours faster than the rest of it's life). I set up the blu-ray player and after dialing in the settings it looked awesome. Then the brightness fluctuations happened.

The best way I can explain brightness fluctuations ( Fluctuating Brightness or FBr) is will be a leap in lighting. When you have a dark scene the whole picture will darken some to give more detail to a shadowed area. It is necessary to give great picture quality in any plasma. Normally what will happen is that it will gradually fade into darker or lighter, this TV does it all in one step. A drastic comparison would be a pitch black room where you turn a light on vs turning a dimmer light on gradually. What you see on the screen is picture that will switch from dark to lighter. It is most noticeable when you have 2 scenes switching back and forth (think dialogue between 2 characters where it switches between ones face to the other) and one scene is darker than the other. You can easily see this in the movie Hereafter around minute 40.

This problem is exacerbated by a delay in the video processing of the switch between darker scenes and lighter scenes. In almost all video they will have scenes cut and pasted together. When this happens the lighting usually will change for various reasons. When the scenes cut from one to another this TV will take about 0.5-1 second to process the lighting difference to adjust to give more detail to shadowed areas. Given that it does it in one leap as mentioned above, it severely distracts you from watching the movie and enjoying it.

Darker Movies will usually bring out these symptoms to it's max. When I went to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, I came to the point where I started counting the fluctuations instead of watching the movie. I counted 56 total in one watching. My wife didn't watch HP with me but she commented on it while watching Castle a few times, then more and more on other shows.

The reviews are definitely favorable as it has a great picture quality without doubt. Most professional reviewers mention fluctuating brightness problem, but gloss over it. Why they did I am not sure. It seems that some sets show this dramatically, while others don't. My first one (the one I counted 56 fluctuations on for HP) I would say was very bad compared to a slightly less worse one that I got the second time around. I re watched HP on the second one to see if I could just enjoy the movie, got to the point I started counting again and only counter 32 which were more tame but still easy to spot without even looking for them. To make sure it just wasn't me seeing things because I knew when they were, I made (yes she wasn't to happy about it) her watch Tron with me. We first started Tron in 2d and she saw it some; then I popped in the 3d disc and she was pointing it out in every other scene.

I placed a complaint with US Panasonic as this was unacceptable, trying to explain it the best as I am now. I was walked through changing multiple settings (CATS off, trying all modes, changing contrast and all other settings, using 3 different HDMI cables along with composite and component cables) with nothing relieving the issue. Their response was that this is a feature of the TV and that it was working properly. Some of their exact words in the email I later received were " the picture dimming (fluctuating brightness) is negligible and should be considered within the TV's design specification."

In Spain a gentleman Documented this for Panasonic to prove that something was wrong. If you would like to see how bad this is; there has been a video posted by a member of a great forum for high def junkies that shows this instance (Google " VT30 hereafter " and it will show in the youtube vids) if you would like to see exactly what I am talking about. The TV here was the VT series which is Panasonic's flagship model and cost well over $1,200 of this TV.

Since the posting of the above video Spain got a firmware update to 1.520. The same person posted the exact same scene with the same setup which you can also view by clicking on his name or clicking on it on the right hand side. It eliminates this problem, since then Europe Panasonic have acknowledged that there is something that they are looking into (circumventing saying there is a problem). But US Panasonic calls this a feature that is working as intended. Unlike US Panasonic which I have opened 2 cases with them about this problem, one for both TVs, and just receive it's a feature of the TV which is working properly...

I am hoping that this is heeded as a warning to many as I feel terrible about Amazon being outstanding in it's Customer Service trying to rectify what is obviously not their fault. I am a man that researches any large purchase to the T to try to avoid these problems. I weighed my options and since the professional reviewers either made no mention of this problem or said it was a minor problem; I decided to buy this Panasonic. I post this in hopes that those that do their research won't feel gypped as I do.

If you would like to read more comments a Facebook page was created in hope that it would have an effect as it did with Sony. It is on facebook under "My 2011 Panasonic TV is Defective".

UPDATE 7/26 : Various Panasonic emails have said that there will be an announcement this Wednesday 7/27. Also a A reliable higher up in Panasonic NA has said that there is a FW that will be aimed at fixing "panel dimming" very soon (this term has a different meaning then Fluctuating Brightness, but all other FW fixes in Europe that fixed the FBr were released to fix another problem). This could or could not be a fix to the above problems, but hopefully putting 2 and 2 together means we will be getting a FW fix this Wednesday. Whether this is a fix to the above problems or not remains to be seen. Since I published this report it has been confirmed that all European models are now shipped with the Firmware that fixes FBr, while here in NA it hasn't been addressed. Here is to hoping for a statement Wednesday.

*UPDATE* 8/6/11 : First there has been no true announcement from Panasonic NA as of yet. But after getting all the data collected and sent forward to the engineers (yes many people that owned the TV put in this work), the engineers were able to replicate the problem. Since then there is now a patch. This is not a Firmware update, instead it changes other "software" in the TV like the EEPROM. Since it is not strictly a Firmware update they cannot simply have your tv download it from the internet like normal. It REQUIRES, at least as of right now, a tech to come out to install it on your TV.

Note that this fix has been confirmed to be loaded on TVs coming from the factory now. When this change occurred I cannot tell you neither can anyone that you can talk to, so please do not hound amazon, Panasonic or any other retailer. I assume the earliest we will see TVs with this update will be very late July produced TVs if not August. If you decide to buy a TV from Amazon please just allow them to come out and patch the TV instead of sending it back. If you send it back Amazon has to eat the shipping and this is one company that tries it's hardest to help the customer. So please do not make them eat the cost or else they WILL eventually have to change the policies they have. It may take a few weeks to get the rep out, butit is worth it to allow amazon to keep its very lax and customer happiness driven CS.

Now onto the results :

I have had this patch on my TVs for 2 days now. I compiled a list of FBr material that was bad during the data collection phase before we passed this on to the Panasonic Engineers so I had a list prepared to test this afterward to see if it was fixed or not. Running through 20 of the worst scenes over 6 movies (Harry Potter Deathly Hallows 1, Tron, Casino Royale, Hereafter, Battlefield LA). In these movies I saw not 1 noticeable FBr ( I say noticeable because FBr is in the driving mechanism of this TV). I noticed only 1 instance of a small FBr in the movie The Rite, but it was under extreme circumstances (dark background to near white background with a shadowed face in a scene change). Besides that I also watched some streamed video (Master Chef, True Blood, Band of Brothers etc) and got the same results of no FBr. Gaming (Fallout 3, Dragon Age Origins and Gears of War 2) was also the same, no FBr.

Overall it fixed the problem almost completely, if not completely. This patch surpassed my expectations and Panasonic owned up and fixed a glaring problem. There have been 3 forum users that have this fix and posted about it. They all report the same thing.

If you have purchased this TV or any other Panasonic NA ST30, GT30 or VT30 and have the problems mentioned above please call 1-800-973-4390. This is Panasonic Concierge and this is the number that was requested to call by the engineers. Tell them you have Fluctuating Brightness. Low end techs have been sent a memo regarding this. Many are now receiving emails to set up appointments.

Because of this fix I have amended my score of the TV. For this price this TV is amazing. I reserved 5 stars for the Pioneer Kuro (the gold standard), 4 1/2 stars for the VT series and dk8000. This TV 4 stars is an undervaluation, but it is all I can do on here. Honestly it would be 4.25 taking into account the above TVs superiority. I cannot express how happy I am with this TV now that it is fixed.

****UPDATE 8/22/11****

They have a limited amount of panasonic qualified techs that can install the update via SD card and will NOT give out the SD card for local non-panasonic techs to install as it has proprietary software on it. To alleviate the problem they send a new a-board to local techs that has the patch preloaded. The tech can then come out and install the new a-board under warranty claim (all free to you).

It is a simple procedure and only takes 15 minutes. This a-board replacement doesn't void any warranty as it is done by Panasonic under Panasonic's warranty by a qualified tech.

*WARNING* the a-board swap AND the SD patch will wipe your calibration and the ISF day/night mode (ISF day/night is only available if you have the TV calibrated and the tech turns it on in the Service menu), if you had one done. If you decide to do either of the fixes I would suggest buying a backup program (like controlcal) to save your settings. You can then reload them after the patch. It has been noted by calibrators that after either of the fixes that you will get close to the same results with the old calibration, but they say you will need a touchup to gray scale and colors to be as accurate as possible.

From good sources it has been said that any August build TVs should have the fix pre-installed. Unfortunately the build date isn't on the outside of the box in the US. There is another way to check if it has been factory installed though. The 3-6 numbers in the serial number designate whether it has been fixed or not. These 4 numbers need to be 1215 or higher for the fix to be pre-installed. It will look like : xx1215xxxxxx .

Again if you order from Amazon, or any other online type store, they have no direct control on what comes out of the warehouse and you CANNOT request that it is an August build as they have no control on what goes out. If you want to be sure of what you get, you should buy local and specifically state you will only buy it if it meets those criteria.

The fix is easy enough to get that you should feel comfortable ordering this product. Don't order this product and expect a 1215. Instead order this product expecting to have the tech come out. You may get a set pre 1215 that has no FBr as about 50% of the people report that they have no problem without the patch or you may get a 1215 build, but you should go into it expecting what you will most likely get. Then anything else is a bonus. If you don't feel good about buying the TV and possibly getting a FBr one then I suggest not buying from online stores.

To those outside of the US. Panasonic divisions are completely separate as they use different components, different firmware etc so this fix is for US only. The US division is sharing this info with EU, Canada, Australia etc to try to get this problem fixed with those TVs also. The other countries are still in the beginning stages so don't expect them to be exactly where the US is as the other countries have to test, document, confirm, create a fix (using different components/software mean they just can't copy/paste the US fix to theirs) and then test the fix. I cannot give you an update on outside of US, but I would suggest that you make your voice heard by opening tickets and speaking out about the problem.

Lastly for those that do have the TV or those that are willing to buy the TV and get the fix after. Call up Panasonic Concierge at 1-800-973-4390 . Allow them to walk you through the steps they have and try them as it is possible that it could fix your problem. If they walk you through that and you still see the FBr they should have received info on how to push it to the next level. To make sure here is the Document that they can look up regarding this issue :

Service Hint ('A' Board replacement to fix the 'brightness fluctuation" in the ST30/GT30/VT30).

I bought this watch as a gift for my son. It is thin, light and classy. I paid even less on Amazon than it is offered for now. The current price is a steal so, I really got away with a huge bargain. If you want an expensive looking watch that is perfect for the most formal dress occasions, I recommend this Stuhrling.

By the way, the average star rating on Amazon is deceptively lower than it should be because someone posted a one star review of another brand of watch to this listing. Amazon should remove that review and then, this watch will be a solid four or five stars! Stuhrling Original Men's 601.3345K1 Classic 'Ascot' Slim Swiss Watch

I purchased this watch and it worked fine until I had to change the battery. I opened the rear cover and put the battery but could not put the cover back because it is so tight, even a watch repair person could not do it.

This watch is simple, light-weighed, elegant and classy. The only thing that I find that could be more substantial is the watch band. The band looks like crocodile skin rather than calfskin and is very thin. I hope it will last.

Looks beautfiul - as another reviewer suggested the picture isn't quite what is in the box - the matt looking dial surround is actually more glossy and shiny, the batons which are quite bright in the photo are not so, they are more dull.

Nevertheless, it's a lovely piece, sleek and slim, beautiful black dial, understated but classy.

I bought a similar watch--Stuhrling 'Ascot' but with a white face--about 8 months ago. I wear it every day no matter what I'm doing. It keeps time perfectly. It is light and comfortable to wear. It looks fantastic, and it was a great bargain.

I was very happy when I bought this movado watch for over $[...] The true is that works for six months and then I have to pay another $[...] to the Movado Store to fix it. So at the end I psy almost full price for an old watch. - Stunning'

This pencil is great and even though Amazon took 2 months to send it to me i cant complain, much. It worked perfectly for a few weeks and unlike others who don't like to take off the metal cap i have no problem. After a few weeks however the elongated metal tip actually snapped off. I don't know if it was because of my writing style or manufacturer defect but I'm writing and the tip tears off. Im not sure if to order again but it has been a real problem because it wont write now. I say buy it, but be careful. Pentel(R) Sharp™ Automatic Drafting Pencil, 0.5 mm, Black

What can I say? this is the classic Pentel P205. It's a wonderful pencil. So much good has been said about it I can't really add to that, so I'll point out some cons:

Eraser is sub-par. I understand some people who claim to be pencil enthusiasts believe you should never use the eraser on a quality pencil. This is nonsense. There are great pencils, Staedtler, Faber-Castell, etc, that have great erasers. It's not the size I have a problem with, the size is great and they are easily replaceable, but the compound used in the eraser is just not very good.

The body is plastic. It feels like it gives quite a bit while writing. Perhaps some people like this as it softens writing, but it feels somewhat flimsy and it not my kind of thing.

The mechanism could use some improvement. It's unfortunate no progress seems to be made on these pencils in 20 years. There is still the glaring and unforgiveable problem of how when a piece of lead is about used up the last few centimeters get stuck in the tip, outside the advancer, so you have to pull it out. This is absurd and ridiculous, and so many pencils still do this. The pentel eSharp is pretty good at keeping lead alive longer, but it's an even cheaper pencil and rather unattractive.

I can't give the product five stars because the old adage "don't fix what ain't broke" doesn't apply here: there are some big improvements that should be being made about pencils, and unfortunately Pentel is resting on its laurels.

I am, by no means, a pencil expert. That being said, this is the best pencil I have ever used! I have used the same pencil for about a year, and it shows no signs of breaking down.

In a moment of boredom, I shoved a gum wrapper in the metal cap that covers the eraser. Whenever I attempted to put the cap on the pencil, the eraser would be shoved into the pencil. I originally decides to retire the pencil after many failed attempts to remove the wrapper. But after using many other inferior pencils, I desperately returned to fishing out the wrapper in the cap. Several minutes later, I succeeded and was able to have the cap and an eraser at the same time.

I will definitely be buying more of these pencils!

I discovered Pentel pencils back in art school. I do fine detailed drawings and this is my pencil! I have tried other products but nothing works as well and you can't beat the price for value. I would recommend this product to anyone that needs to use pencils for work... it will not fail you.

For 4 years of engineering this was my *second* most favored drafting/writing instrument. It was the also one of the most sought after mech-pencil in engg schools from 10yrs ago till date.

But for $ value it is tough to beat.

Rotring Tikky is considered holy grail of mech-pencils by a lot of engineering graduates:

perfect balance/weight, great build quality (built like a tank), ideal grip and thickness.

This one is nearly the same except it is light but better than the rest of the mech pencils with its near perfect balance (cap end is slightly heavier)

Built out of plastic makes it the only reason i dont prefer it over the Tikky.

The P205 pencil feels great and writes well. However, the price and the extremely small eraser make this product not worth it. Within one week and very little use, the eraser had buried itself within the pencil. My guess is because I did not put the metal tip back on the eraser when I pushed to extend the lead. But the idea of the metal tip cover doesn't make sense since a pencil should be efficient. So why would anyone want to remove the tip every time they need to erase something? One could argue just don't make mistakes, but if that's the case, why use a pencil at all then? Currently, the eraser is nested within the pencil and I'll need tweezers to get it back out. Again, the handling of the pencil is amazing! But the eraser head lasted less than a week, making this pencil pretty useless in the end. I'm still searching for the best writing utensils!'

The Dashiki tribal shirt is a great buy! It is very cool and for such a low price! I highly recconmend this item to anyone who needs a fashion upgrade. My only complaint is the smell. It was bad. However, after washing, it smelt perfectly fine. Thanks for making my dreams come true with this awesome shirt! Traditional Print Unisex Dashiki - Many Colors Available, White

Its hard for me to find shirts that fit. Especially since I'm vary tall with 38 inch arms. So I was nervous when I made this purchase but to my suprise, its fits just right. And I'm not sure how they got this to me so fast... They must live in the house next to me or something. Overall, I am pleased with my order and will shop here again.

Fondly,

Very tall guy

The dashiki's are great! We,some men in my church and I, purchased them for our singing group. They really went over big! Thanks to Rita, whose website these were purchased from. She was a joy to do business with. Very helpful and accomodating.

I love my dashiki! Gonna order a bunch more. Nothing is better letting The Man know who's in charge than a dude in a dashiki, especially a fat middle-aged white man like me!!! They are very comfortable in hot muggy weather, so they are pleasant for lounging on the porch and drinking forties with my friends. The one I purchased from this company are a tad bit short, so just remember to wear pants/underwear with them! They are perfect for concealing a pistol on hot days, too. Young white girls don't seem nearly as attracted to me as they do in those Pam Grier movies. Well, life is not a movie, but dashikis are comfortable fun. The pockets are perfect for my Newports.

My one complaint was the hat. It was too small for my big head. Actually, I worry about the size of anyone's head that would fit in there other than very small lady.

needed this type of shirt for son's choir performance. Shirt is very thin and is see-through and light weight. Picture is true to product. Cap that came with it is small - would not fit son's head - 7 3/4 hat size.

When I received the Traditional Print Unisex Dashiki in Yellow, it had numerous stains on it. I asked for a replacement dashiki and received a second dashiki with stains on the outside and massive staining on the inside of the garment. I was very disappointed. I have returned the garment and I am awaiting a full refund. - African American Culture - Top - Unisex - Peasant Blouse'

Woodworking - bosch, dado set

I've purchsed Freud blades for my contractors TS before and have been very pleased, so I decided to buy their dado. The quality of this blade is excellent! The case which holds the outter blades, chippers, and shims is a thin plastic but firm foam lines the inside to keep everything supported and in-place. The blades and chippers are kept separated, while they're in the case, by a dimped plastic disks; they seem to do a decent job. As for the cut - smooth and glasslike on both the sides and bottom!! The only thing that bothers me is that the chippers are not labeled. To choose which configuation of chippers for a particular thinkness requires you to mic them.It cleanly and easily cuts through oak to particle board. No chipping or tear out.The only improvement to this dado blade would be to stamp the chipper with its thickness. Otherwise it is a very good purchase. Freud SD206 6-Inch Professional Dado

Having two dado sets already, I was frustrated that I couldn't get a chip-free cut in oak plywood. Even though I felt that the $154 price of this set was steep, I decided to try it. What a pleasure! I only have one suggestion: color code the shim stock so that quick placement is possoble. As it is now, you have to mic each shim to get what you want. I used some nail polish to color-code each one, but Freud could do us all a favor and identify each different size when the product is made. I would certainly recommend this dado set to anyone-beginner or experienced!

I purchased this dado set on the recommendations of my brother, who is a professional finish carpenter and cabinet maker. He only uses Freud blades. I had previously had another brand that was fine for ripping dadoes but destroyed any wood during crosscut dadoes. The set arrived last saturday and I dropped what I was doing and had to try it out. I spent two hours "playing " with the set, cut dado's in melamine, birch plywood, oak plywood, solid maple and oak, mdo and mdfb. Man, this is a great little set. Though smaller than the set my brother uses (same set my Dad used for years), it suits my so called "underpowered" saw. Every dado was as clean as anyone could hope to accomplish, even on crosscuts. The tearout was so minimal, it's not worth talking about. The channel is clean and flat, every bit as nice as any dado I ever cut with a router. No burning and the feed rate is consistant with what I would use for crosscutting veneer plywood. After recieving the set, I recieved my latest copy of "American Woodworker", they had just done a review of dado sets and the SD206/208 was rated "Best Buy". For those of us that do this for fun, this is definitly a "Best Buy".

I recently purchased the SD206. It fit my needs well as a part time wood worker. Lots of meat on the carbide, very accuarate when set up correctly. Set up on my BT3K, Ive used it on poplar, white oak and plywood. Great results. Freud could beef up the instructions a bit, and I purchased magnetic shims. Overall. great value for performance, Id recommend to anyone.

After finally giving up on my inexpensive Craftsman dado set, which burned more wood than it cut and had more gum on it than blade, I went looking for something that would make dadoes that (gasp) were actually flat on the bottom, at a price I could afford, and that would work on my smaller saw, a Ryobi BT3000. This Freud set filled the bill nicely. It cuts a nice flat-bottomed dado, is highly adjustable with the included set of shims (though there's little way to tell which shim is which) and has been resistant to gumming up. The triple-angle rake on the outside blades has been great for sharp, flat sides to my cuts. This is not the ultimate dado set; with few teeth and a negative chipper angle, it tends to get pretty hot and slow cutting a 3/4" wide, 1/4" deep slot in hardwood. Multiple passes may be in order. However, the size and price and cut quality were all I was looking for, and I'm completely satisfied. Unless you have a bigger saw or require faster production, this is probably all the dado you'll ever need.

It is reasonably priced for weekend wood workers. It works well for my Delta contractor saw (1.5 hp), which is supposedly "underpower". The Tool-Crib rep said that 8 in. dado blades could be a bit too much for my saw. It came with a sturdy plastic storage case. Ah, not much instruction came with the set.

I was having huge problems crosscutting birch plywood. The wood kept splintering and I could never make a clean cut. I read a review in a woodworking magazine that recommened the SD206 as the best value for the money and decided to give it a try. When I received the blade I tested it out and discovered that if I took small depth cuts, not more than 3/8" at a time, there was no splintering and the dado was perfectly square. I highly recommend this blade.

I got this dado blade for Christmas, and WOW! is it fantastic. The fit and finish of the blades is wonderful, although the case seems a bit flimsy. The plastic is pretty thin and hard. It think it would crack pretty easily. I think I'll make myself a wooden carrier in the next few weeks...I started out by testing it out on some scrap 1/2" Baltic birch plywood. I used the included guide for sizing a 1/2" dado and went to town cutting. Unfortunately, the dado was a bit undersized. BUT, instead of having to remove the outer blade and start adding shims, I just measured the size difference between the dado and the plywood. Each click of the dial is .004" so I divided the difference by .004 and came to 5.5 clicks. I rounded that up to 6 clicks, loosened the nut on the blade, clicked 6 times, tightened and cut. The dado fit perfectly, and it took less than 5 minutes from installing the plates to final cut! This system really works!

As a carpenter who cuts a lot of plywood, I was interested in upgrading from a 'wobbly' dado to this system. In general I was impressed with this set. The plates and chippers are all substantial. They are manufactured out of nice thick, flat stock, with large carbide teeth and a nice clean black finish.

I do my work on a Craftsman Professional 10" tablesaw with a 1-1/8" long threaded arbor.

The first thing I had to do was reassemble the outer plates to change the setup from a right-tilt, to a left-tilt configuration. Before making dado cuts the user must consult the manual and determine the appropriate type and number of chippers to install between the outer plates. A little color coding or some stenciled part numbers on the components would simplify the process, but if a person can read, they should be able to figure this out.

I found slipping the assembly over the arbor threads to be a little bit of a challenge due to the thickness of the components. There is no 'slop' in the 5/8" arbor hole so you need to have room to slide them on square with the arbor threads.

Practical Feedback:

This system works nice. Pretty quiet for a dado and very clean, flat cuts. I found the dial settings recommended in the manual to be only approximations. Adjust your settings and make notes for future reference.

On the negative (and its a significant point) I found I could not safely utilize the wider settings on this dado. When I installed the components required for a 3/4" dado I found I couldn't even get a full turn of the arbor nut when tightening up everything. ...and that still leaves one chipper in the box. So, using this set for wider dados will require me to make two separate passes at different settings. (Seems like it kind of defeats the purpose of a dado, doesn't it?)

I don't know whether to place responsibility for this problem with Craftsman or Freud, but as a buyer it seems like a little more up front information would be helpful.

In summary, this is a great product if your tablesaw arbor threads are long enough to accept the unit(1-3/8" or over). If not, keep looking.

Just a followup note: One of the primary benefits of these reviews is to alert other potential customers to salient issues. Based upon the number of forum comments, it would seem that buying one of these, only to find they aren't fully functional on a specific table saw is not an uncommon issue. When, as I did, customers consult point of purchase materials, Amazon promotional write-ups, and tablesaw manuals without finding any illumination on the topic, its probably a point others would like to know. That said, I still think this Dado is excellent for those with the appropriate platform. - Freud - Bosch - Woodworking - Dado Set'

I'm primarily interested in the storyline differences between special sets and their theatrical counterparts, so here are the differences between the two (NOTE: SPOILERS FOLLOW).

The extended collector's edition runs 16 minutes 28 seconds longer than the theatrical cut, and listed below are the major differences.

1) The opening scene is different, and starts with Jake in a wheelchair on Earth, in a Blade Runner-esque Earth city. The scene moves to scenes of Jake in his apartment, then taking liquid shots in a bar. Jake's narration of "I told myself I can pass any test a man can pass" and "They can fix the spinal if you got the money. But not on vet benefits, not in this economy" are inserted during this new opening scene.

Jake beats up a bar patron who is mistreating a woman, and then Jake and wheelchair are unceremoniously thrown outside by bouncers into an alley. While in the alley, Jake meets the two RDA representatives who bring him news of his brother's untimely death. Then the movie cuts back to the original theatrical cut where Jake sees his brother's body cremated, then awakes in space.

2) During Jake's initial flyover of Pandora in his avatar, they witness a herd of Sturmbeasts, buffalo-like creatures.

3) After seeing the Sturmbeasts, Grace, Jake, and Norm stop by Grace's old English school for the Na'vi. The school is now closed, abandoned, and some walls are riddled with bullet-holes. Norm finds a Dr. Seuss book, "The Lorax", on the ground. This scene explains how Neytiri knew English so well, and certainly gives some further backstory into Grace Augustine's character.

Interestingly, The Lorax can be seen as a metaphor for the Pandoran story. Recall that the seemingly simple Seussian book is actually a lesson on the plight of the environment and industrialization.

4) We see some other different Pandoran flora and fauna, particularly with scenes of the luminescent forest floor.

5) Jake's first dinner with Neytiri is longer and extended, and it's here that she tells him her full name.

6) When Jake, Grace, and Norm first visit the Hallelujah Mountains on the way to the remote uplink station, Grace explains (in a Jake voiceover) that the mountains are levitated [via the Meissner Effect], because Unobtanium is a superconductor. There's a pretty spectacular CGI shot as the characters look around in awe at the suspended mountains.

7) Pictures of Grace and Na'vi children at her previously functioning school. Dr. Augustine tells Jake that she previously taught Neytiri and her sister, Sylwanin. However, one day, Sylwanin and some hunters destroyed an RDA bulldozer, and RDA SecOps troopers killed them at the school, which explains why the school walls were previously seen pockmarked with bullet holes.

8) Sturmbeast hunting scene after Jake tames a Banshee. After Jake successfully kills a Sturmbeast with an arrow, he and Neytiri chortle a "Heck yeah!" and whoop.

9) Jake and Neytiri's love scene comprises them linking braids together. Some kissing, nothing explicit.

10) Tsu'tey leads a war party that destroys the RDA's autonomous bulldozers, as well as the RDA SecOps squad that was guarding them. Corporal Wainfleet leads the search party that uncovers the evidence, via real-time helmet cam footage. Not sure why they cut this scene from the theatrical cut, as it persuades Selfridge to attack the Home Tree.

11) Attack of Hammerhead Titanotheres on RDA forces has been extended slightly; additional scenes of AMP-Suits getting destroyed.

12) Fight between Colonel Quaritch in AMP Suit and Neytiri on Thanator slightly longer.

13) Tsu'tey's death scene; in the theatrical cut, he falls off the RDA shuttle's aft ramp to his death. In the Collector's Edition, he falls to the forest floor, mortally wounded. He passes on leadership to Jake, and asks Jake to ceremonially kill him e.g. hara-kiri, so that Jake will be the last shadow that Tsu-Tey sees. Jake does so.

I preferred the original Tsu'tey death scene, which was more dramatic. Jake, had afterall, already become the de facto clan leader by that point in the movie, so further formal transfer by Tsu'tey (a minor character) seemed unnecessary. Avatar (Three-Disc Extended Collector's Edition + BD-Live) [Blu-ray]

There are many low score reviews purely based on the fact there was a release of this movie earlier this year and now the extended version comes out feels like a marketing game. When the first release happened it was known an extended version was coming, but some people just had to have it now. I just watched it on Netflix and waited for the extended version. I agree if you bought the first release version you have little real reason to buy the extended version, unless you love this movie and want the bonus features.

Some of the other low scores talk about the 3D version coming, but that is weak reason for most people because most do not own and will not own a 3D TV set. If you do your research on 3D TVs you will find they clunky and costly. Unless you are among the few who have a 3D TV, then there is no reason to wait to buy this release of Avatar if you enjoyed the movie.

For the few who have never seen the movie, the key factors to consider is if you are a science fiction fan, enjoy action movies, and if you consider yourself picky about dialog/originality, Avatar breaks no new ground when it comes to story, but it does take many of successful elements from other stories and rolls it into this one. The bashing on acting is overkill. In general they did a fine job, not exceptional, but anyone who loves science fiction will find the acting a step above the normal for this type of movie. The dialog is nothing special. There are mostly cliche characters and situations. The key is the entire package is very well done. No movie is perfect and as much as some people bash this, just look at the box office sales. Bad movies would have never set top sales records no matter how much marketing was behind it. This movie is not for everyone, but it is good to great entertainment for many.

BOTTOM LINE: If you loved the movie and do not own it, you might want to get this. If you have never seen the movie, rent it or barrow it first. It is a science fiction classic worth consideration for most people. - Science Fiction - Blu-ray - James Cameron - High Definition'
