Planer Stands - planer stands, dw735
In all likelihood the first reaction of someone considering the purchase of the DW735 Planer is going to be that the stand is simply too expensive. And it is dear. I didn't buy this table at first, but used a standing table I had in the shop. The only problem was that moving the planer about in a small shop rapidly becomes a weightlifting exercise. The DW7350 is the heaviest of the portable planers. To solve this DeWalt as brought out this heavy-duty, rigid table that moves easily on its casters. Once you break down and decide to purchase it you are going to wonder why you didn't have it right from the start. Mine came with a midway shelf, which doesn't appear in the picture. Working height is excellent. Assembly is pretty straightforward as well. DEWALT DW7350 Planer Stand with Integrated Mobile Base
I received this mobile planer stand for Christmas and I am very pleased with it. The packaging was adequate and the assembly instructions were basic and easy to follow. Working alone I had this stand assembled in about 45 minutes. I was amazed that all of the pre-drilled holes were precisely where they needed to be. None were off even a little bit! Although the picture here on Amazon shows this planer stand without the (included) lower shelf installed, I went ahead and installed mine. I think this is a great feature to include with this product as it adds an extra storage spot and it also adds rigidity to the stand (although it felt very sturdy anyway). For now I have put my Delta planer on the stand and am pleased with the utility of this product. The only thing I can think of that could be improved a bit, and this is minor, is the particle-board top of the stand. I felt it was a bit undersized and also a bit too thin. If I were redesigning this tool I would have made the top twice as thick to add strength as well as weight to cut down on vibration. As I said though, this is a very minor criticism. Overall I highly recommend this mobile stand as a quality product and a good value for the money!
This is a rugged, sturdy table for benchtop type of planer. You wouldn't wnat to run 12" 8/4 board through it without using a roller stand on both sides lest you risk tipping the planer stand over. But otherwise, it's a very useful item.
If you asemble one, follow the descriptive text for assembly, noting the letters used to denote each part (washer "P" or "O", etc. IF you do that, asembly shouldn't be difficult.
I found the that the bolts for attaching the planer to the stand were bagged separately from the other nuts and bolts so there was little chance of using the wrong bolts.
I used a 1/2" wrench and a 1/2" socket without any problems. You do need a socket for tightening some of the nuts.
Assemble in a clean area; if you drop a nut or washer, you want ot be able to find it as there are just enough of each parts, including nuts, bolts and washers to put the stand together. Don't count on there being spares if you drop one into the pile of waste cuts you haven't gotten around to picking up.
I find that the top panel is more than sufficient for it's purpose. Some have said that it could be thicker, but the weight of the planer rests near the perimeter so you shouldn't expect to notice any flexing in use. Also, near the perimeter, the panel rests on front, back, and side bars, which at the top extend several inches toward the interior.
A plus, the panel is predrilled and marked for the DeWalt planers, although you can countersink and drill holes to hold other benchtop planers.
The stand is rigid and uses lockwashers on all of the nuts where lockwashers would matter. I expect to get a long useful life from this stand, and I know my back is going to appreciate it. ;-)
I would give a 5 star rating except for two problems in the assembly instructions. First I do not recommend mounting the foot pedal inside the frame. You cannot get to it with your foot. Secondly the longest bolts do NOT mount the wheels. Instead use the next shorter ones provided. The longest bolts are what work to mount the planer to the stand.
One last item, I also purchased the extention plates. It would have been nice to know in the stand assembly instructions the planer cannot be mounted to the stand BEFORE you install the extentions.
The above mis-information added about two extra frustrated hours to assembly.
This is a very substantial stand for the 735 planer. The package comes complete with all of the nuts, bolts, washers, and screws needed for proper assembly. The overall workmanship is excellent (no unfinished or rough edges or corners - a typical fine DeWalt product).
The negative aspects of this stand involve the lack of coherent directions for assembly. All of the nuts and bolts are metric (no mention of this in the assembly instructions), the assembly of the footstand for elevating the entire planer stand is left to the imagination of the assembler, the placement of the feet is vague, and the length of the shoulder and carriage bolts in the various applications is left to trial and error.
Making the assembly instructions more user-friendly would greatly enhance the rating level of this product.
A good solid stand for a planer. However, the assembly instructions suck.
1. Nuts and bolts are really 13 mm, not 1/2".
2. Very poor illustration.
3. The foot pedal is a hazard mounted 'outboard'. It is much better mounted 'inboard' and actually functions better in that position. To make the foot petal easily usable 'inboard' you must reverse the actual foot petal on the pre-assembled unit. Remove the retaining clip (split ring pliers do not work, use a screwdriver) and just reverse (180 degrees) the petal.
All parts will be used with none left over, so read the instructions carefully. - Planer Stands - Dw735 - Dw7350 - Dewalt'

Vehicle Mounts - garmin nuvi, suction cup
Left my previous suction cup + bracket in a rental. Purchased this item and just received it. It comes in a Garmin box ("Authentic Garmin Accessory") and comes complete with suction cup and bracket. Exactly as pictured. As indicated on the box, it fits the Garmin 200/205 series. Garmin Suction Cup Mount
I received only the suction cup mount, but not the bracket shown in the picture, my order looks like item 010-10747-00 from Garmin, which is only the mount. This obivously makes the mount useless, since I'm purchasing this mount to replace one that was stolen. I'm still trying to figure out if it was a mistake from Amazon, or the item does not come with the bracket. I would rather have purchased this directly from Garmin, since now Amazon is giving me headache and money loss from having to return the item for refund.
Garmin Suction Cup Mount (010-10936-00)
I know a lot of people had a concern about whether this ships with the bracket. I was anxiously waiting for the product to arrive since I wasn't sure if the bracket was included...worry no more the package just arrived and it included the bracket as well. It's in Garmin packaging, just need to stick it on the windshield and see if it stays on as well as the one I just misplaced in a rental car.
Vevek
The suction cup works fine, however, this suction cup mount is only for certain nuvi devices, something that is not made clear in the product description. It works with the 205w, 200w, 205 and 200 series. I have a 350, and the antenna flap cannot be put in the horizontal position with this mount.
If you're having problems with the suction cup, be sure to clean the rubber suction cup, as film from the windshield will accumulate and the unit can fall off the window.
Also, if the suction cup is applied near sea level and you drive into the mountains, don't be surprised if the unit falls off.
Before buying this product, I read some earlier reviews stating it was a knock off and not a Garmin product, you don't get the suction cup, you don't get everything pictured, etc. All of those reviews are pure garbage. It is a Garmin product, and you get exactly what is pictured. The only thing you don't get (and you should) is slapped for leaving the original in the rental car.
No sooner had I mounted the new garmin GPS in my car than the rubber suction cup cracked rendering this whole device worthless. It lasted me all of 15 seconds before it failed. I felt totally ripped off. - Vehicle Mounts - Garmin Nuvi - Suction Cup - Friction Mount'

Random-orbit Sanders - sander, dewalt
Let me start by saying that I have LOVED all my Dewalt tools. But, this sander sucks! At least the one I received. I have an eight year old DW 421 ROS that has served me well with my only complaints being the rubber sealed switch that has always been tempermental and it being underpowered. I have been shopping for a new ROS for a while now with variable speed and more power being two requirements. The highly rated Porter Cables never quite felt right in my hands and the Bosch sanders seemed to have too much vibration when in use. I was excited to see the ad about the new Dewalt sanders- bigger motor, cool new look, and it is a Dewalt!...I was on the list to receive one of the first ones. It finally came, it looked a little plasticy, but still cool. I plugged it in and turned it on (same lame sealed switch but not worn out like my old one) and the sander came to life- it had a wierd high pitched kazoo-like sound that had me concerned but I was going to see how it sounded in action. The variable speed control was really hard to turn, but I suspect that would get easier as it wears.
I put on a new 150 grit sheet and tested it out. It didn't feel good in my hands, the top was big and odd shaped. The high pitched vibration sound was still there. It sanded as well as my old sander but not better. I decided to do a three way comparison with my old DW421 2.0 amp, my friends Bosch 1295 DVS 2.2 amp, and the new D26453K. The Bosch had both Dewalts beat on build quality and power when sanding but without the CFS it just doesn't sand as well (I think what I'm sensing is consistent pad speed on and off the wood that the CFS provides for the Dewalts) The Bosch had more vibration than my old Dewalt but less than the new one.
The pad on the new Dewalt stalled as easily as my old one and as I previously mentioned I couldn't tell that this sander was more powerful. I could not rotate the variable speed switch with my thumb while operating it- too stiff. And that horrible sound!!
I'm sure I got a less than perfect copy, but I am still disappointed in Dewalt for either poor quality control or if they are all like that, for a sucky new ROS. DEWALT D26453K 3 Amp 5-Inch Variable Speed Random Orbit Sander Kit with Cloth Dust Bag
I purchased this random-orbit sander to finish a huge porch. This machine is not heavy and is easy to use(I'm a retired woman). I was pleased with the results. There are no sand marks because of the random-orbit rotation. My son in law has borrowed it and likes it too. Before I bought this sander, I used a friends which was another brand. His was heavy and much harder to use. It is easy to go to one of the home building stores to get the replacement sand paper but cheaper to buy it on Amazon. I used this machine a lot and made the mistake of not changing the sandpaper one time and ruined the underneath side but was able to buy a replacement locally. This sander was shipped immediately and arrived in pristine condition. I think it does such a good job that I am planning to finish my dining room table with it.
This is a great sander. Much better than my Porter Cable. My only wish is that it would have a little longer cord. It doesn't hurt my hands to use this tool. I would buy it again. The dust collection system work great and is easy to clean out. A little comprssed air and the unit looks like new.
I purchased this sander to do edges and touch-up spots for restoring some hardwood floors. This job required hours of work, but the machine kept up with it quite handily. Even after over 3 hours of continuously using it, my hand was comfortable and the machine was cool to the touch. It did not clog once during the entire project both using the vacuum or just the bag.
If I were pressed to mention flaws, there are two that come to mind: the power switch and the vacuum adapter. The power switch is very finicky, both in that it is hard to quickly reliably switch power manually and that it is easy to accidentally switch power. The vacuum adapter is built in which is great, but it does not seem to hold the end of my vacuum (Ridgid WD4070 4 Gallon Portable Vacuum) very well on its own, relying on the suction of the vacuum to do the "fitting".
I purchased this sander to help out with drywall sanding of joint spackling compound in a townhouse remodel. It worked great for that purpose. You will need to detach the small dust bag that comes with the unit and attach the suction hose of a vacuum cleaner to it. Of all choices of vacuum cleaner I used a Rug Vacuum Cleaner - The Hoover Windtunnel Floor Upright. Albeit that vacuum cleaner didn't lead to the most convenience it was the only vacuum I had and it worked pretty well as long as you were patient to move the vacuum as you sanded. The dust was held down considerably with the vacuum attached. In my opinion, the sander was easy to control and the dust was vacuumed away sufficiently. Be careful to make sure the vacuum hose stays attached because the sander itself will spew the materials out the back all by itself. Since there is a lot of noise with both the sander and vacuum on at the same time you will have trouble hearing the hose come off. I had no problems with the ON/OFF switch or weight of the unit. It was a little heavy but it is also a very rugged model. Sandpaper for it is sold both at Home Depot and Loews. I'd by the economy pack to stock up. The carrying case it comes with can store the sandpaper. I had owned a square vibration sander prior to this one that shook my hands way too uncomfortably. This model is pretty smooth. It probably has a lot of uses other than drywall but if that's your purpose - it works great for that. I'm happy I purchased it. It was worth the cost to me. Good Luck.
I researched this tool for months. I finally met some folks who actually have this model as well as other brands in their shops. Everyone said they preferred the Dewalt. Overall feel of the machine and the work accomplished made the Dewalt their ROS of choice.
I bought one of my own. I totally agree! My first job was restoring an antique drop leaf table. (there so many layers of paint and dings, I wasn't sure there was even wood underneath.) The variable speed come in handy for fine sanding. I borrowed two other brands from my friends, they don't compare to the Dewalt. I would easily recommend this to anyone looking for a great ROS.

Lithium Battery - lithium-ion, lithium battery
These batteries are a great value because they last a lot longer than other 18V batteries. I have crews using these tools for metal framing and such and the less time they spend getting down off of scaffolds looking for a charged battery, the more money I save. I personally used the 18V driver to install 18 sheets of Durock and I went thru over 300 fasteners on a single charge. I kept reaching for more fasteners wondering when the battery would go dead and it just kept on going. The 3 amp hour design is awesome. In this case, I say you get what you pay for...and maybe a little bit more. Makita BL 1830-2 18-Volt 3.0 AH Battery, 2-Pack
I have used a lot of different tools/batteries. These outlast all the guys at work who are using dewalt. The batteries actually make a cordless sawszaw a useful tool. Even my boss was impressed. The only draw back is they are not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
if clothes make the man these batteries make the tool. just don,t leave the battery in the tool when you put then in the bag that the tools came in. the sligest touch to the trigger and the lite stays on and the battery willl be drained when you go to use it.
These batteries are important if you own a makita li-ion set. With the supplied two batteries you have to switch a single battery among the tools you are using while the second battery is charging, agrhh. This was very annoying when you are trying to make money on the job site. Armed with four batteries you can run three tools while one is charging, now you can make money!
These along with any of the tools made by Makita are the best on the market. I have used Makita's 14.4 Nicd stuff for years and actually sold them to a buddy and he is still using and lovin them.
Thank you Makita keep up the good work.
I was using the much smaller 1.0ah batts that came with the tool, and they'd last less than an hour.
This 3.0ah is so much better and lasts for a good couple of hours (having 2 is also great). Plenty of torque, super-fast recharging time and THE CAPACITY TO GET THINGS DONE.
Also, the Lithium technology is far superior to NiCd (and even NiMh); smaller, lighter, no degrading capacity (memory) effect, stronger torque, faster recharge and longer lasting.
I purchased the 18 volt Makita Drill and Impact Driver with the 1.4mAH batteries. Due to the amount I use them at the same time I purchased two 3.0 mAH batteries and these batteries have significant improved capacity over the 1.4's. I would recommend spending the difference if you use these tools frequently.
We normally buy Dewalt cordless tools, but when we find deals, we will buy other brands and we figured we'd give the Makita's a try.
The pluses: these batteries do last longer between charges than the old Dewalts nicads we had. If we have 2 guys doing the same job, the Dewalt would lose its charge in 3 hours, while the Makita would last at least 3.5 hours doing the same job.
The downside...the batteries cost you more in the long run. They aren't cheap, and they do last longer between charges, but we seem to have to buy new replacement Makita batteries more often than we do for our Dewalt products.
So, these batteries are great in that they are probably the longest running 18v cordless batteries we have had for our tools, but in the long run we probably won't stick with them because they need to be replaced every 4-6 months (we use them everyday), while our 'other' branded batteries are lasting almost a year under the same workload.
Having gone through several batteries with DeWalt products, I decided to shop around and see if I could find a "better mouse trap". I purchased these extra batteries thinking that they would be on par with the DeWalt's. Boy was I wrong!!! The charge on these last a long time. I have a four man crew with two impact screw guns, a chordless sawzall and a heavy duty drill. We have five batteries total and one single charger. I cant think of a time that anyone of us was waiting on a "hot" battery! Very satisfied!
extra batteries simply make sense for a serious worker. the one or two which normaly come with a set will not keep you working indefinitely and being able to cycle through four means constantly having power. even if your buddy keeps borrowing your impact driver. - Lithium - Battery Packs - Lithium-ion - Lithium Battery'

Hitachi Brad Nailer - senco, brad nailers
I have a Dewalt cordless 18-guage nailer that I use for quick handyman projects. I keep this assortment kit inside the tool's case. It is small, clear and has everything from small to large for every need. I refill it from one-size packs of 1000+ nails that I can't fit in the tool's case. Senco A209909 18-Gauge-by-1-2-Inch Electro Galvanized Variety Pack Brads
Variety pack supplied a good selection of brads for most projects. Once you determine the type you need, you can order a box of them. Better than buying a box and finding out they aren't suited for your project.
I bought these nails for use with the Hitachi brad nailer I bought on Amazon at the same time. The nails came in a variety of sizes and functioned flawlessly. I did not experience any miss fires or loading problems. I don't know how much credit goes to these nails or or the great Hitachi brad nailer, but both work great together. If you need just one size, I would only order the single size pack, however this variety pack was great for my needs and included plenty of nails in each size. - Brad Nailers - Nails - Brad Nailer - Senco'

I bought this shirt after reviewing another comment. i love the shirt it's super cute. However, this companies sizing charts are way, way off. By at least three sizes. I wear a 2X and had to buy a 5X for it to even fit and look cute. If someone who is really a 5X buys this shirt thinking it's going to be comfy and look cute, think again. It would not be pretty. Plus size Black Low cut v-neck Hoodie top - 1X
So comfortable and cute! I wear a lace cami or white long sleeve underneath since I am a mommy of two little girls and dont want my other two girls exposed that much. hahaha The design is on the front and back. NOT super huge so it looks gaudy but just up by the shoulder area. Also I love the black jewel accents on the printed design. Gives it a something little extra without too much bling. I wear a 1x and ordered a 1x and it was the right size for me. I wonder why the other customer had a problem with size? I also ordered it in grey!
I received my shirt yesterday after having ordered it about a week ago; so the delivery time was good. The material was a better quality than I expected for this type of top. Also, it is very figure flattering. The elastic in the empire-style waist band does not extend around the back, which is good because this could cause unsightly rolling. Very nice. I hope this is available in a different color...
I absolutely love this shirt! I just wanted to let potential buyers know that they will have to go up TWO sizes to get the right fit...if you're a woman. If you're getting this for a Junior...disreguard this. (Normally I wear a 3x and I purchased a 5x and it's a great fit)
It accentuates the positive (might need a pin to be a little more modest...the V ends where the 'bottom band' of your bra is...haha just sayin!) The arms are enough of a sleeve to make those of us gals who are less than thrilled with the upper arm feel comfortable, and the empire waist with a little flair doesn't cling to the tummy area (SCORE!!)
It's cute and flirty and flattering on a bigger gal's body :)
Hope this helps!
I received this shirt today and I absolutely LOVE it! It is very flattering! I usually wear a 2x (as someone mentioned) but after reading the reviews, I decided to order a 5x. I am glad I did because the 5x is a perfect fit!
If you read the product description, it clearly states, "Available in 1X, 2X, 3X junior plus sizes." The keywords: Junior Plus Sizes (I wouldn't let my teen wear this but that's just me).
So for any adult complaining about the shirt being too small, you should have read everything before you ordered it. It's not the company's fault, it's yours.
I just ordered this over the christmas season and loved it as I pulled it out of the package. Fits true to size but is made for juniors for warning. Some may need to go up a size if bigger in the bust.
I purchased this hoodie with the expectation that it would be oversized -- I normally wear 3x, but I wanted a lager size for wearing with a cami. This is about a 1x sized top. also I had hoped the printing would be a bit nicer, but the top has just basic printing nothing exceptional. I gave it a 1 star for the poor sizing. - Cocktail - Evening Dress - Tops - Evogues Apparel'

Digital Camera Battery - digital frames, digital camera case
I bought this as a gift for my mom to replace her nice, but bulky digital SLR. Her requirements were the camera must take excellent pictures, be user friendly or intuitive, and also be easy to grasp and hold while taking a photo.
The Sony DSC-H70 passed all three by me, and more importantly by my technologically declined mom.
The 10x optical zoom on the camera is sweet, while it isn't as flawless as the alpha models lenses or carl zeiss lenses it comes really close. It has a very high-quality lens and internal components. For the price/quality tradeoff I think this camera beats out all camera's under $300 currently on the market. I think the 16 MP is probably overkill, but it doesn't seem to sacrifice image richness so the more the merrier. Also, the blue color looks classy.
A huge selling point is the smart design of the camera. It has a groove for your thumb on the back, and the front has a slightly raised and concave area opposite of the lens side to grip. With the really thin cameras it seems people end up pinching the edges or hold the camera in an awkward position. You can grip this with a more natural grasp which helps keep the camera steady (although it does have a really good image stabilizer on it).
I was instantly a fan of the option for the auto setting that takes two shots at slightly different settings when light conditions are low or there is abnormal backlight conditions. When I tested it under a variety of poor light conditions one of the two pictures always turned out great (the other was good too, but one was just more ideal). That feature alone is worth buying the camera for. Saves a ton of time knowing you'll have a good snapshot when light conditions are less than ideal. The smile recognizer actually does work well and I can see it coming in handy quite often. The panorama setting works better than any camera I've seen to date. I weebled and wobbled the camera on purpose and the panorama still would turn out really well.
Those are the main items noticeably better than other digital point-and-shoots. It does come with an digital instruction manual on the camera if your curious about what something is when you are away from home.
I've been playing with my FujiFilm 3D camera recently, which if you are a photography geek I recommend scoping out. I went with 3D over high-quality 2D, but after seeing this in action I'm seriously considering the H70. Before this I was eyeing the alpha line (a55) from sony, which is an amazing camera in its own right. Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H70 16.1 MP Digital Still Camera with 10x Wide-Angle Optical Zoom G Lens and 3.0-inch LCD (Black)
This is my 3rd Sony camera and like the others it takes great pictures. What I mainly like about the camera is the SteadyShot stabilization and the Active mode that is available for videos. Other cameras usually only have an electronic stabilization which doesn't really do anything. Sony's actually physically moves the sensor. Getting up in years, my hands are not as steady as they used to be and at full zoom, taking a picture or video with other cameras at full zoom is very jumpy. Another cool feature is the Sweep Panorama which creates some great shots. Unfortunately the only way I have found to view them in sweep mode is using the included PMB software. Viewing them in a slideshow only gives a static image though. All-in-all, you can't go wrong with this camera.
PRO's - Steadyshot, great pictures. zoom range
CON's - Zoom noise is very prevalent in videos
Bought this camera five days ago. Paid full retail which was around $229.00 and I had to buy a memory card, it did not come with one. The picture quality is great and it is very simple to use. The panorama actually works pretty good and I got it to take a panoramic photo on the 3rd try. The movie quality is outstanding, and again, easy to use. There are some settings I've yet to figure out. To me, it seems like a lot of camera fo the money. Plus, I've not had many problems with Sony products.
I bought the camera this past weekend, used it at my sons baseball game the pictures came out nice, just wish the zoom was a little bit longer, for having 10x zoom the camera is small and slim, it might not have touch screen and all the other little nice features but it does what a camera should do take nice pictures. I use to use a olypmus 10x zoom and a kodak 10x zoom but this little camera in my opinion takes nicer looking photos and is a lot smaller then those other bulker cameras i use to use, I think this camera is a bang for the buck.
I really like this Sony. I bought it because I needed a portable camera. I use a Canon S10 IS but it is too big to carry around on vacation or casual events. I was wary because the reviews on Amazon were varied but a digital camera review site gave it extremely high marks. After having this camera for 3 weeks, here are the pros and cons:
PROS:
The best auto - mode I have seen anywhere. I took pics in Disney world in daytime and low light conditions, indoor and out, and the pictures came out great with no flash needed...ISO adjusted automatically
Burst mode - press and hold button to take 3 consecutive shots
10x zoom - almost unheard of for a camera this small
Shutter speed is great, yes really. But if you are in auto mode and the setting has changed (daytime to twilight for example) your first shot will be delayed while it changes to the new mode
Portrait mode will recognize up to 8 faces in your picture, great for families or group shots
Sony now has a slot for an SD card in addition to their Memory Stick, this was a big selling point for me
CONS:
Shutter speed for changing modes as above. You can manually set the mode to bypass that.
I have not yet figured out how to stop the preview after a pic. Not sure that is Sony's fault.
No optical viewfinder. They are more rare in small cameras but help when it's sunny out.
This camera takes some practice. Not a lot, but you really do need to look at the online manual to get the best use from it.
MY CONCLUSION:
Overall I am very happy with my purchase. If you want a point and shoot that is easy out of the box, there are better suited cameras out there. If you want a camera that's a few steps up from a basic point and shoot, this one is great if you are willing to take the time to learn how to use it. Once you do, changing the settings is fast and easy. - Digital Frames - Digital Camera Case - Digital Photo - Sd Cards'

Home Security Systems - home security, fake security camera
This "camera" works as advertised. Although totally made of plastic, it looks realistic enough (the "lens" is black and reflects some ambient light, like the glass of most cameras out there).
When it detects moviment nearby, it moves in both directions (that is, it pans back and forth) a couple of times, as the red LED light blinks. It uses three "AA" batteries that can last for several months (assuming it is activated around 4 times a day). There's an ON/OFF switch outside. No wiring needed for installation (it has an actual white wire behind it, faking its insertion into the wall).
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that it doesn't react to movement everytime. Most times it works, but sometimes it just doesn't (as if it had an automatic on/off timer). But this is not a big issue because even without moving and blinking, it is still there and do intimidate intruders and thieves sucessfully (well, I hope so). Additionally, one of the 3 units I bought just don't move or blink at all.
If you want a fake camera that really looks like an original surveillance camera, look for those models with the lens built-in inside a metal body, without movements, sounds or blinking LEDs. SE Fake Surveillance Camera with Sensor
I bought 6 of these cameras for our various offices and they are very noisy. They move alot, but due to the noise they make one would not be able to use them in an office environment. When they move back and forth they don't really focus at the person who activated the motion sensor, so that appeared to be very unrealistic. Their appearance from a distance might fool some, but they look very much like a toy.
Piece of junk from China! Amazon should be embarrassed to even show it on their web site. Sensor won't detect motion more than 6" if at all. All screws strip out to access battery box then you can't keep it together. Not water proof for outdoor use. Shipping costs more than product. Very misleading ad with lack of honest information. I was one of the suckers born every minute on this item. If I could rate it a ZERO I would. Anything that even looks like this one is junk! I learned my lesson. Avoid these like the plague.
As posted by the other person, this is a piece of junk. Don't waste your money. It's supposed to have a motion detector, but it's like a light sensor or something that only flashes the LED when something moves 3 inches in front of it. USELESS!. I ordered 3 of them and NONE of them worked. The sensor is supposed to make the camera swivel around like it was a real one. Nope... didn't work. Buy if you just want a fake camera to sit there but don't expect the electronics to work. - Dummy Camera Surveillance - Home Security - Fake Security Camera - Security Camera'

The Port Authority black denim jacket was much better than I had expected. Not being able to try it on, I was concerned about the fit.(I weight-train five days a week)Putting it on after it arrived, I was thrilled at the ample room still left after covering my 215 pound frame. No need for an XL unless you're really big. Get one while you can! I'm going to order another one! NEW Port Authority - Authentic Denim Jacket Black-XL'

Top Gear - bbc
I was kind of reluctant when reading the reviews here but my love for Top Gear took over. The book is good. Simple. There's a ton of material about driving and half of the book describes Ben's 8 years long career with Top Gear. You won't find however anything surprising and I can hardly think of any reason why BBC put so much effort into blocking this book out.
-- SPOILER ALERT --
You will read about Ben's beginnings, his ambition to race at any conditions and any price. After joining TG team the story becomes familiar and you get a sense how massive was the amount of work put into each episode. I was expecting to find out some backstage opinions on the presenter trio (Clarkson being an arrogant type for example) but nope - seems they're the same as on the telly. You will get very detailed information about how the celebrities were taught and what was their approach to driving on the TG track. You will also find out how the driving and pass-by sequences were made and how hectic the job of Stig could be. Most of the chapters copy the epizode flow so you'll read about Veyron race from Italy to London, the charity race in Mallorca, 24 hrs endurance race in diesel BMW and so on, including all the details possible.
The Stig job must have been (and probably still is) very demanding as Andy Willman (exec producer) seems like crazily tough guy, who's been pushing the show forward together with Clarkson. There's an urgent sense of split personality when Ben Collins acted as a Stig and as well as himself during several episodes. Not to mention the fact how crazy was the TG team to keep Stig's identity secret.
The book covers the era from beginnings of white Stig until the episode with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.
-- SPOILER ALERT END --
Ben's not a writer, which is obvious after several pages, however the style of narration and description is not bad at all although you must be a petrolhead to appreciate it. For someone not keen into cars or TG, this book may probably be a huge disappointment. For me, the book changed a bit my view on Collins' departure from TG. But just a bit, I'm not that disgusted as I used to be after reading the news :).
One last thing that I found a bit annoying in the book - it's Ben's total self-focus with always right opinions, plus the fact that he never made a mistake (followed by a huge crash) during his driving career. He was in several critical situations with almost no control over the car but he always, always found a way how to make it and beat everyone else's time and amaze everyone around. That seemed a bit sci-fi to me. Only a small drawback though. The Man in the White Suit: The Stig, Le Mans, The Fast Lane and Me
Having watched the TV series like most people for a number of years, I initially thought I would not buy the book due to how Ben Collins handled his departure from Top Gear. Curiosity got the better of me and I decided to buy the book.
Ben goes into detail into his earlier year and gives some interesting insight into the career of a racing driver from a young age. However he does go into minute details of certain laps within races that you wonder how he can remember such things after years of racing. The book also gives the impression that he prevails over what ever odds, but then again he is the Stig! (or was)
Its a very light read and I found that it was interesting to hear about his life outside of Top Gear.
I would have liked to have read more about the other Top Gear presenters and background to the departure from the show.
The book isnt an expose but provides some colour to the man behind the Stig.
Ben Collins, born in 1975, has competed in motorsport since 1994. He worked with Top Gear (both as the anonymous `tame racing driver' -The Stig - and also as himself since December 2003.
This is his story.
Ben Collins was born in Bristol, has competed as a junior Olympic standard swimmer while living in California and wanted to be a fighter pilot. When this career was ruled out because of his eyesight, he switched to cars. Ben won races in nearly every category he competed in: from Formula Three to LeMans Sportscars, and GT. In 2003 he won the European ASCAR title while racing for RML Motorsport. When his racing career was temporarily curtailed by a lack of funding, Ben joined the Army reserves. He also began a new venture working as a Hollywood stuntman.
In 2003, Ben became the fourth presenter on BBC TV's `Top Gear.' As `The Stig', he test drove exotic cars, coached celebrities how to get the best out of the `reasonably priced car' around the now legendary Top Gear test track. As `the man in the white suit', he was recognised by millions of Top Gear fans around the world.
This book makes for interesting reading both for Top Gear fans curious about the identity of The Stig, but also for those interested in Ben Collins as an accomplished racing driver.
I found this an easy and interesting read, especially the descriptions of his driving experiences. As an Australian, I enjoyed his reference to the yellow flags (specifically in relation to kangaroos) at Bathurst.
Jennifer Cameron-Smith
Was a good book, it got a bit boring in some spots mainly where he wrote about his military training, but other then that I liked it. If your a Fan of Top Gear, its definitely interesting to find out what he was going through with some of the challenges and episodes, and they are kinda fun to watch again knowing what was going on in his mind at the time. Like during one of the challenges that he raced the other presenters where he took public transportation, he had just broken 4 ribs a week or two before. That said, its not all about Top Gear, so don't go in expecting that.
He obviously knows a lot about racing, so you can definitely learn something there as well. - Bbc'

Photography - memory card, photography
Contrary to the rating given by the previous reviewer, having a camera that is incapable of keeping up with the speed of the card is not a basis for a mediocre rating on the card itself. I've got an EOS 20D and I find this card much faster than my 512 Mb Sandisk Ultra II card. I highly recommend the card for those with cameras that have a high speed buffer. It allows many more pictures in a burst than the manufacturers claim because they base their estimates on slower cards. This card is well worth the money if you shoot a lot of high speed activities like sports, racing, airshows, fast moving animals, etc. SanDisk Extreme III 4 GB CompactFlash Memory Card SDCFX3-004G-A31
I thought I was dreaming a nightmare when I read a review that gave 3 stars to this product because of a limitaton in the product it was used in. I have several SanDisk Extreme III CF and SD (1 gig SD) cards, and they are nothing less than rock solid awesome. I use the SD cards in a Canon S2 IS, and a 1D Mk II N. The CF cards live in the 1D pretty much all of the time.
Other companies make pretty fast and durable flash cards, but SanDisk Extreme III cards are the fastest, and damn near bullet proof to boot. In my humble opinion, they are the best you can buy at the present time. If I happened to have an older camera that is limited in it's data transfer speed by virtue of it's vintage, I would still buy the most reliable, and fastest flash media available for it.
The day will come when a new camera tickles your fancy, and it would be a shame to have to discard your current collection of flash cards just because they are too slow to work with your new camera. CF and SD flash cards are here to stay for awhile. They have a lifetime of very active use rated at better than ten years. I can only speak for myself, but in a ten year period, I might buy several cameras.
Go for the best price, but go for the best product too. The SanDisk Extreme III cards cost as little as fifty Dollars per gig, and leave plenty of room for future camera updates.
This card has the best rated speed for the Olympus E500, and the performance was great for about 5 months. In that last couple weeks, however, it has failed twice. The first time was when trying to transfer photos to the computer, and the computer could not recognize the card. After my husband reformatted it (and losing pictures in the process), it was working fine. The second time was fortunately while practicing with a new filter. It gave a "card error" message. At this point, I'll contact SanDisk. I will update here with the results.
Customer service update:
SanDisk was good about replacing this. They were a little resistant initially and required I perform some tests to prove to them that it was failing, but after I jumped through their hoops, they provided me with a UPS number, I took it into UPS for shipping to their technicians, who promptly had me sent a new one.
Update Sept 2007:
If possible, I would now upgrade my rating from 3 to 4 stars. The new card has been in use for 9 months with no problems. So, I would purchase this again, especially for an Olympus Evolt. I would just take lots of practice pictures with the card before relying on it for anything important.
Update Nov 2008:
The replacement card has worked without fail.
SanDisk is known as a reliable name in flash memory cards. I have purchased SanDisk memory cards for years and have never had any of them fail on me. So when I recently purchased a new Canon EOS 40D digital SLR camera, I knew that I wanted a SanDisk CompactFlash card, to record all of my precious photos. I looked up the specs of the many choices that SanDisk offers. I also read many reviews, right here on Amazon, and decided that the Extreme III series CompactFlash was what I needed.
Wanting the ability to store several hundred photos on a single card, I chose the 4GB Extreme III CompactFlash card. I inserted the 4GB Extreme III into my new digital SLR camera and formatted it. At 10.1 megapixels, and at the largest JPG setting, my camera shows that the card will hold roughly 900 pictures. I began snapping pictures and was instantly amazed at how quickly the data saved to the card. After I had about 50 pictures on the card, I removed it from the camera and inserted it into the card reader attached to my PC. I copied all of the photos from the card onto my PC hard drive. Again I am amazed at how quickly this memory card can move data. This card is awesome! I have always thought that the many claims of faster speed in memory cards was purely hype, to get consumers to plunk down extra cash. Well I can honestly tell you that there IS a difference. Compaired to an older 512 MB CompactFlash card that I use in a different camera, this Extreme III series card is at least 2 to 3 times faster in transferring digital photos.
I have noticed a few low scoring reviews, here on Amazon, from people that have had their SanDisk memory cards fail. I am sorry to hear that others have not had as much luck with their SanDisk cards as I have. I suppose there is always going to be a certain amount of failure with any electronic device on the market. All I can say is that I have been using SanDisk flash memory devices for years, including SD, Memory Stick Pro, MicroSD (transflash), CompactFlash, and even several different Cruzer USB flash drives, and have never had one case of failure. I have worked in the I.T. field for over 20 years and I can asure you that I am not a light user by any means. Any data storage media I own is used frequenty and intensly. In my book there is no better manuafacturer of portable memory media than SanDisk, and I will remain a loyal user until they decide to cut back on quality and I start to experience failures and lost data.
I highly recommend this Extreme III series CompactFlash card by SanDisk. I also recommend that you purchase it from Amazon. I made the mistake of buying mine from a local electronics store, which charged me nearly twice the price of what Amazon is selling it for. I was in a hurry and needed it right away, and boy did I pay a premium! Amazon has a great price on this excellent memroy card, and their return policy and customer service are top notch. - Photography - Cf Card - Memory Card - Sandisk'
