Micro Pinner

Our shop did not know about the micro pinner until I saw it in your magazine. After the kit arrived,I gave it to the shop and it has been used every day since then.I found the price to be better than any place locally, plus it was delivered to my door.Thank you. Senco PC0974 Micro Pinner Compressor Combo Kit

The small compressor and the 23 guage micro pinner gun are great.

The compressor is light weight and is easy to transport to a job site. The micro gun works great for attaching screen mouldings, panels, and small crown on cabinets with minimal filling. I have been using the gun on the job site for about 2 years now and it has only jammed a few times. I think this is to be expected when you take in concideration the types of wood, pressure settings, and accidental double trigger hits. I do recommend this compressor combo kit to my friends and family.

Great Little Compressor. If you haven't seen one of these I can't stress how small and light these things are.

I'm a general contractor and let all the guys use this towards the end of the project when I don't want them hauling a 40lb compressor through the finished house. works great with the micro pinner and will run a Senco finish nailer no problem. Don't use it for production with a 16g gun but it is fine for pick up, or that casing that you forgot to nail off properly.

The micro pinner is a gem, you barely know there is a fastener, one coat of finish either paint or a clear finsh and they fill in.

The painters love them because they are so easy and FAST to fill or just paint over.

This isn't the first nail gun or compressor you should buy, unless you ar a hobbyist doing craft work, but it is a very nice tool.

while the kit is comprehensive and the compressor works well, the micro Pinner is junk. This is the second Senco mirco pinner that I have purchased and the second to fail. This gun refuses to set 3/4" pins at all. It leaves the heads sticking out on every shot. My first senco lasted about 2 months before it jambed and refused to work. I purchased a Fastco micro pinner 3 years ago for twice the price but I've never had a problem. It seems product quality for senco has taken a back seat to economy and unreliablity( As there fiasco with the AIR FREE 40 cordless nailers proves.) I am a licensed Contractor who only does finish work. My tools must be the best and this product is not.

It's a great little machine for my woodworking hobby. I couldn't be happier with it and it's performance. The safety trigger is a pain, but because there are no children around our home/shop area, I worked around that.'

There is nothing really wrong with this product yet, since I haven't used them that long. However, my only gripe is that on the package, just like the 5 color ones I bought made by Ultro-Pro, it states 100 count sleeves. After sleeving a couple of my decks that are 100 cards total, I've discovered that there were only 99 sleeves. I counted the other ones I ordered. Also 99 sleeves. This is really annoying because now I have to order extra just to sleeve the 100th card in two of my decks. The other ones I'm not worrying about because those decks have maybe 80 or less cards in each, so not having 100 sleeves is fine there.

Other than that, the quality of the sleeves seem decent, but this can just serve as a warning to any buying these sleeves for decks with 100 cards in them. I will attempt to contact Ultra-Pro about these to see if they can amend this somehow. 100 Count Blue Deck Protector Sleeves

I ordered these since it's overall a better deal than buying 2 separate packs of 50 ct. sleeves. Ultra Pro are very nice sleeves for my decks. I have never had problems with them ripping or tearing. Just shuffle easy and not so hard. But anyway, the sleeve color is a nice dark blue, it does look like the picture, that's a pretty much exact match on color.

The sleeves are a bit textured. If you've ever used Ultra Pro sleeves you'll know what I'm talking about, if you haven't used them before there's a small little bit of grit on the back that makes them easy to handle. As a player I like it, it makes them easy to shuffle and play with.

The sleeves do have the small insignia on the front of the sleeves, but it doesn't really obstruct the view of the card. All around though, I am very satisfied with this purchase!

I was really excited to get Ultra Pro sleeves, because I think they look sharp. I play a lot of CCG's, so there's always a need around my house for them.

When they arrived, I immediately put some of my naked decks into them, and the first thing I noticed is how slippery they are. Holding a standard 60-card deck by the top and bottom card, the middle of the deck came sliding out and cards went everywhere! So that's annoying, but not a deal breaker.

The deal breaker was when I went to shuffle the deck - not with a bridge, but edge-to-edge - and the corners of the open end tore open on a couple cards! My FIRST time shuffling the deck! I've used the sleeves with pictures on them before, and I've never seen them tear like that!

Very disappointing. Only buy these sleeves if you're looking for something cheap (in both senses of the word). - Mtg - Ccg - Magic The Gathering - Card Holder'

Hitachi Framing Nailer - nail gun, hitachi framing nailer

I have always been a fan of the cordless nailers, I have two each of all of the Paslode guns. You can frame and finish a whole house w/ a gas framer, finish, and brad gun. I added the Hitachi Round Head to the mix just to have more flexibility in nails; if I run out and the closest supplier has one or the other styles I'll be covered both ways.

The comparison: I think the Hitachi has a better balance point in your hand. The Paslode is, I think, heavier in the nose, and so feels heavier. I like the Hitachi battery set-up better. If you get a piece of debris jammed in the Paslode along with the battery, it can be a bear to get out. The Hitachi is also easier to adjust depth of drive, although once you have it set, you rarely have to change it, unless you go from wood to microlams and back.

As far as the basic nailing, both guns perform the same. As other reviewers have noted, one down side to the gas nailers is that they require more pushing force to activate (so you can't use it as a gun like Danny Glover did in Lethal Weapon!). So if you have aligned two work pieces and are trying to nail them, you have a tendency to move the work when trying to activate the nailer. You also have to be careful not to leave the gun lying around with the battery in; it will run down.

The one performance issue on these guns is in extreme cold weather, especially if you are trying to nail over your head with the gun upside down. They won't fire. In those conditions, I kepp one gas canister in my pocket where it keeps warm, and I switch them when the one in the gun gets too cold. Note that in these conditions, you are also likely to have problems with your compressor, so the one is no worse than the other. Also, note that a pneumatic stick nailer probably holds 3-4x as many nails as either gas nailer, so you do have to lug around a lot of nails, and reload frequently.

All in all, I don't understand why I don't see these on every job site. Who wants to drag a hose through the truss webs if you don't have to. You can just hook this baby on your tool belt and climb around freely. And for the DIYer, I would highly recommend it. No compressor needed! Hitachi NR90GR Round Head 2-inch to 3-1/2-inch Cordless Gas Framing Nailer

This is a gun that is not as easy to use as an air driven one and does take some getting used to, I think that is where people have problems. Good balance and power and does not take the expensive, more limited Paslode round modified nails and will take up to a 3 1/2", 3 1/4" is not code in some areas and that is as long as the Paslode IMCT will shoot. I like not having to but anothe set od nailer for this gun as the Std. Senco style .

The fuel rod has to be in place correctly or the gun will not work correctly, sometimes you have to reinsert it if it does not seat the first time before closing the cover. There is a lock out on the nail strip to prevent dry fire so you need at least a 10 nail strip to start. You can not bump fire like so many like to do, wildly place nails all over, it is a sequential fire so you must place the nose on contact then let the fan start and fire, rated 2-3 nail/sec.. It takes some experience to learn how to use it. Go for an air driven nailer if you want to shoot it like a machine gun and have nails thru sheathing into air space like is the case in so many homes. I know bump fire can be done correctly but more often than not I see careless building results.

I have a Paslode finish nailer and it works fine, has its issues too, especially in having to be kept clean and use specific products for maintience as this gun has too.

The rubber grip on this tool and the balance is very good, hold the Paslode too you will see how much better this is. This is Made in Japan and not a cheaply made tool as so many tools are today. The fuel rod is from Germany, and does not have an expiration date like the Paslode fuel which will work too[Red rod]. They did have problems with the early Hitachi fuel but that is corrected now.

I do not like the depth adjuster and jam removal screws because you need a 5mm allen key that is supplied but does not have any onboard storage [it does have a spot in the nice case]. The depth adjuster should be tooless, I really dislike those 2 issues . There is also no rubber protector boot for siding or decking but again the Pasload boot will fit if you buy it. For the price it is a great tool IF you follow instructions and do not have expectations that it will act like an air framing nailer. I hope Hitachi will decide to make some finish nailers too.

When it works, this tool is a jewel; powerful, easy to handle, and it drives a true round-head nail. It's just that it doesn't work very long. The original unit acquired via Amazon lasted for somewhere in the neighborhood of a hundred nails, and then died. The local Hitachi dealer's service department could not revive it, so it was replaced with a new tool. The replacement lasted somewhat longer (200 hundred nails, perhaps) before it too ceased to fire.

The problem seems to be a flaw in the triggering mechanism that shows up after relatively moderate use. The dealer's service shop tried to repair the tool, and it worked for a dozen nails or so and then quit again. The dealer has been trying to get Hitachi to once again replace the gun, but the Hitachi rep. has apparently been unrepsponsive. In any event, unless the flaw is fixed at the factory, simply getting a new gun is no solution.

If my experience is anything to go by, purchasers of this Hitachi tool may be doubly cursed, first by a poor product design, and thereafter by poor customer service. My suggestion is to buy something else(which it looks like I'm going to have to do).

I've only had the nailer about a week, and haven't used it alot other than just trying it out- 'bout 1 strip of nails. So far it seems to work pretty good. It hits really hard and is well balanced. Not too much heavier than an air nailer. The cons: really could use a tooless depth adjustment. You really have to push hard with the nose to fire a nail. Cleaning instructions and maintenance are not in the users manual, you have to go to Hitachi's website and download a pdf file for the instructions and recommended schedule. It doesn't have a bump fire feature so you won't be firing nails as fast as a pnuematic gun. - Hitachi Framing Nailer - Cordless Nailer - Cordless - Nail Gun'

Square Enix

My gaming setup: AMD X6 1090xt, Windows 7 Ultimate x64, GTX 480, 256GB RAID 0

Crucial M4 for the game partition, 16 GB 1866MHz DDR3.

Here's a very brief background of how much time I spent playing the original

Deus:Ex. I beat the game 5 times including once where I just killed 3 targets

total and used stealth / darts. I loved the original and it's the only game

for the PC that I've bought twice (the CD got damaged during a move). With

that in context, I groaned when I heard about this game. DE: Invisible War

was such a failure that I didn't really expect anything from this game.

Then I read the reviews on metacritic and as I don't trust most reviews anymore,

I wasn't sure what to think. I figured I'd bite the bullet and play the game and

find out. I started playing the game wanting to prove myself right and wanting to

hate the game. That wasn't hard in the first 10-15minutes. The combat system was

not what I expected (this is during the first action sequence) - the AI shot straight

and it didn't take a lot of bullets in "normal" mode to bring you down. My ego

satisfied about how I was right about this game being "meh", I figured I'd play for

a little longer and then the spirit of the original Deus Ex showed itself.

I kept playing for 5 hours and was completely hooked. I was wrong about my

assumption but I didn't care. I didn't even care for the main story-line at one point.

Oh "steal stuff from morgue?" I'll get to it. I love exploration and side-quests and

there's plenty of that. There's innovating hacking that rewards you for taking risks.

The game environment is pretty well done although not as good as the original DE. The

interface for weapons/quests/map is a well-designed one. You make choices and they have

consequences. They really do. There are also lots of references to the earlier game

and to general humor (Nigerian email scam for e.g.,).

Combat seemed a little off as if the developers intentionally want you to use assault

as a last resort. The game rewards you for finding hidden passages in general. You get

rewarded for merciful takedowns where you don't kill your enemies. You get rewarded if

no one spots you when you are on objectives where you walk into enemy dens. You are

rewarded if you trigger no alarms during an objective (or quest). Rewards are usually

XP, money, hacking tools. Maybe I need to get better with cover but this isn't Gears of War!

I didn't pay a lot of attention to the music which means it didn't annoy me. I was not

happy with the graphics in general. There are plenty of graphical glitches- some hard

to spot, some obvious but they don't really detract anything from the gameplay. The engine

seems to be outdated (probably explains the low hardware requirements) and graphics aren't

as shiny as trailers / screenshots led you to believe. The controls have a console-ish feel

to them. The fact you have to hold / tap a key to achieve different results is disappointing.

This is the PC for crying out loud - let us assign different keys if we want to.

Yes, this game requires Steam. Yes, you can quick save and quick load using F5 and F8

respectively. Saving is really fast but loading takes too long (the game is installed

on a RAID0 128GB Crucial M4 SSD set) and load times get progressively worse the longer

you keep playing the game. This is ironic and annoying because it's hard to stop playing.

Poor memory management? Please patch :(. I got about 3 hours of sleep last night.

To summarize...

Pros:

+ Excellent gameplay, improves on many (not all) game elements from the original

+ Innovative rewards for taking additional risks during gameplay

+ Open sandbox style gameplay with a good number of side quests and exploration opportunities

+ Plenty of replayability / replay value in this game

+ Decent AUG tree / advancement system (see Cons)

Cons:

- Graphics are disappointing. I wasn't expecting a Crysis but the engine looks old and the

glitches don't help

- AI suspicious / warning system feels half-baked

- The character advancement system feels inferior compared to the original Deus Ex (it's an RPG!)

- Gun combat is disappointingly weak and badly done (despite the "take cover" idea)

Other thoughts:

* Not sure why every female model in the game is busty - the way of the future? AUG implants? (harr harr)

* The futuristic cars/bicycles look silly at best but I guess cyberpunk is forgiving to a large extent

In conclusion, I was going to give this game 4 stars but with the amount of time and

enjoyment I'll get from this game, I might as well be honest with myself. This game is

nothing like the original but comes close enough. I know several years from now I'll pick

up a copy of Deus Ex to play again because that game was/is a cult classic. Human

Revolution probably won't make it to that category but is a strong contender for Game

of the Year 2011.

Update: The long loading times is now patched. The other thing I wanted to add is that the boss

fights can be really annoying to begin with. The first boss isn't walk in the park and can be very

annoying since you don't have a lot of augments and if you are like me, all your advancement is

in hacking and you carry around a tranquilizer rifle. That won't help against bosses where you

need a minimum amount of firepower. So be ready for a good amount of headache against boss-fights

at least in the first few hours... Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Like a lot of people, I was skeptical when I heard about a new Deus Ex game. The last game, Invisible War, wasn't very good, to say the least. Plus, this new game was made by an all new development team, just formed. Did they have what it took to make a great Deus Ex game? It turns out they did.

Deus Ex is about choice, and Human Revolution hits that out of the park. Do you want to sneak past your enemies with a cloaking augmentation after watching your enemies move routes through walls with the eye aug, or do you want to sneak around and pick off each enemy with tranquilizer darts, hiding each body from view like a silent predator? Do you want to augment yourself to be Cyberpunk Rambo? You can. Grab a machine gun and utilize your defense aug, making your skin hardened against bullets. Do you want to be a weird Hulkified dude who's obsessed with throwing fridges and dumpsters at your enemies? Put some points into strength augs. Want to be a hacker and use hostile security terminals, turrets, and robots against your enemy? Done. Like to talk your way out of situations? Invest in the cerebral aug that lets you better read people's expressions, helping you find each conversation's weak points.

There is so much choice in this game, and there are so many paths in each level to take, that I think Human Revolution rivals or even surpasses Deus Ex. It's that good. The levels are huge - especially the city hubs where you can talk to various NPCs and get a bunch of sidequests.

The gunplay feels nice, the stealth is good (with nice little touches like patrols that turn around and walk backwards for a few moments). The hacking minigame is actually fun and involved, unlike most minigames. It also evolves as the game progresses, becoming more difficult and varied, with more ways to hack as well.

It does have a few downsides, though. First, while it has an amazing art direction, the graphics aren't too great. Plus there's some graphical glitches and bugs. But those are pretty small complaints. The good things about this game absolutely dwarf the bad.

Everyone should buy and support this game. We need more like it. I don't want to wait another 10 years for a new great Deus Ex game.'

Replacement Water Filters - maytag, filters

This filer seems to work fine. I think I noticed the water had a bit of different taste, but it could very well have been my imagination.

This filter is a bit smaller than the original Maytag filter and smaller than the Brita filter I ordered through amazon.com last year. These were both 1 year filters and I am a bit disappointed that this is rater for 6 months.

I paid about $25.00 for the Brita a year ago and now see it is $38.00. Is there a water filter shortage I am not aware of?

Anyway, look at the Brita MYRF-100 Refrigerator Replacement Filter filter for a few dollars more and rated to last a year. Maytag UKF7003 PUR PuriClean Cyst-Reducing Refrigerator Water Filter, 1-Pack

Few days back I ordered this product; and it was delivered in 3-4days. The installation was super easy with the given instructions. Planning to order the same in few months again!!

The only reason I am not giving 5/5 is due to missing instructions for turning off "Change Filter" light; I found these instructions on some blog. For MayTag refrigerator, the light can be turned off by holding "Light"+"Lock" pads on the door until the "Change Filter" light blinks (approx 4-5 seconds).

I was a little hesitant to purchase on-line as I had always got the replacement from the manufacturer. Didn't need to worry. The product was the same as I had always purchased. It was eay to get the old one out and easy to get the new one in.

the product recieved was not a maytag filter but a water sentile brand with a sticker that had a maytag # on the box i installed it and then realized it was a six month filter not a year filter like the maytag unit so now i need a new one in half the time that a original would have worked for this ends up costing twice as much for a unknown quality filter very disapointed with it - Maytag Filter - Maytag - Filters'

Reciprocating Saws - tools, sawzall

Order - Excellent

Price - Excellent

Delivery Time - Perfect/Excellent

Container Received - Average (A little beat up...enough to be concerned about the item)

Hardware Condition - Excellent/Perfect

1st cut through wood fence runner - Excellent

2nd cut through metal nail - Excellent

3rd cut small wood tree branch - Good (This saw is not a chain saw....balance is not the same)

Blade Set up or Insertion lock - Good (Must be perfect or will not lock, this is good for

safety but annoying when it will not lock)

After opening the package, I attached a Dewalt XLT 18V Battery and tried it out. I was surprised on the overall

weight 8 pounds with the battery. When I pulled the trigger, the saw slightly twisted in my hand.... making me

wonder how it was going to cut. The saw is not short on torque. Nice suprise for a battery operated tool.

I then purchased some new wood and metal blades. I successfully locked the blade into place after a couple attempts.

My first cuts were on a wood fence runner and metal (nail). The saw cut through both items like butter. This battery

operated reciprocating saw/sawzall tool is a good fit for quick cuts in remote places. I have not used it in long

duration applications....yet.

I would recommend this item to a Male friend....but not my Wife. Bare-Tool DEWALT DC385B 18-Volt Cordless Reciprocating Saw (Tool Only, No Battery)

Purchased this saw a little while ago, decided to try it out on a small tree (25' tall with a an 8" diameter trunk) saw worked great! Used two battery's but cut right through everything. Its well built with plenty of power!

This is a great saw. If you already have 18v Dewalt tools, this lets you only buy what you need - no extra batteries or cases. The tool is brand new and comes with instructions, warranty and single 5/6 starter blade.

I used this all afternoon cutting fallen tree branches. It worked in the rain - getting quite wet and abused - like a champ. It never burned out or even slowed down. When the battery is just about done, it goes from 100% strength to 15% strength within about 5 seconds.

This is fairly heavy, so one handed use is possible but not fun in the long term. The blade can be set in all four directions.

This is really a quality tool and I highly recommend it. - 18v - Tools - Dewalt - Sawzall'

I purchased this at the advice of my plastic surgeon. I no longer need the medical grade compression garment so they told me to get spanx or something similar.

Because I am tall I needed something long enough. I tried others that were just too short and would roll up. This one is great. It holds me in similar to the medical compression garment and looks nice under clothes and... it NEVER rolls up on me. Lipo in a Box "Original Firm Control" Soft Cup Long Shaping Tank, Black 2X

i love my long tank! i have it in black and looks just like an undershirt and no one knows i need it for control! i have a very long torso and this top was very helpful in providing sufficient support in all my trouble areas. the tank smooths out my tummy area and all the trouble spots on my back. i wear the tank with our without a bra. i wear the smart cups from lipo in a box when i dont wear a bra and i look completely natural

I got this tank because my favourite line (La Senza Spirit) stopped. I loved their tanks for sports and for use as everyday undershirts. I was very excited when I received this tank but just as I'm trying it (I'm wearing it at the moment) I found out that not only it rides up, it actually rolls up and sits at mid-waist! I wear M and sometimes S, so the 'rolling' isn't caused by the shape of my body. The minutes I sit down, it rolls up causing immediate discomfort. I'm not please with this product at all.

I'm aware that anything meant to suck in your lumps & bumps & what not is supposed to be tight but when reading the sizing charts on this I fell into the XS category which was wrong because it was way too tight and therefore rolled up when I sat down. My advice go a size up, simply so you can breathe, but I think in the right size it'll work just fine. - Shaper - Tank - Barely There - Strapless Slip'

Well folks, now that the dust has settled from the Sony vs. Immersion lawsuit, Playstation 3 owners are finally able to feel the vibe again!

I purchased this controller today and I knew the only way to properly road-test it was on the game that made the Dualshock famous, Metal Gear Solid. After booting up the game, I walked down the hallway and got spotted by a guard. As he shouted, "WHO'S THAT?" the controller jumped in my hand - and I knew this was a smart purchase. As the guards shot at me, I felt the feedback of the bullets, just as I had 10 years ago on my Sony Playstation.

I picked out another old school Playstation game, Tenchu: Stealth Assassins. From Ayame's blades to Rikimaru's sword, each sword swipe and jump had excellent feedback.

Okay, so my Playstation games worked out. But what about my Playstation 2 library?

I popped in God of War, knowing I had to feel the swing of the Blades of Chaos. The controller vibrations felt a little lighter here, but the vibrations still occurred at the appropriate times.

Then I chose Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction. Who better to test a vibration controller than the Sultan of Smash? All the power jumps and smashes had the vibrations intact, but they still felt a little on the light side.

All right, so far I was two for two with my Playstation and Playstation 2 test subjects. But what about my Playstation 3 games? Could I possibly hit a trifecta?

I put in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and I decided to jump right into a heated firefight. The controller gave me feedback while shooting weapons and getting hit by enemy fire, but I knew my purchase was justified when Drake was near death: I FELT THE DUALSHOCK 3 PULSING IN SYNCH WITH DRAKE'S HEARTBEAT. It's one thing to hear that noise and know he's near death, it's quite another to feel the pulse in my own hands.

Okay, so the feedback on the older games was there, but a little lighter than I remember. The reason? Well, when I decided to go wireless on my Playstation 2 system, I bought a Logitec Dualshock controller. It turns out, that controller takes two "AA" batteries, and the vibration motors inside the controller handles are slightly larger than the ones in the Dualshock 3. That's where I felt the difference.

The Dualshock 3 vibrations may be slightly less than the Logitec controller, but it doesn't require the purchase of batteries.

The Dualshock 3 may be slightly heavier than the SixAxis, but it doesn't take up any extra space at all.

Sure, the price is about $15 more than the SixAxis, but it's a worthy upgrade for the Playstation 3 gamer who kicks it old school as well as new school. The only other drawback is the lack of an additional USB cable - but we can use the one that came with the system itself.

So what's the final verdict?

Order it, plug it in, charge it up, and get ready for the inevitable downloads from the Playstation Store to make the older PS3 games Dualshock 3 compatible.

I wouldn't recommend a feedback peripheral without providing my own feedback...

Enjoy! PS3 DualShock 3 Wireless Controller - MLB 11 The Show Edition

I was already extremely happy with the Sixaxis controller, but I could not resist getting the DualShock 3. Not only do you get the rumble, but also, it feels much better in your hands, even for those games that do not use this feature. The rumble function is fun, but on top of that, it helps with gameplay, because "feeling" what is happening provides a lot more feedback than just watching how your character or car reacts to the environment.

The biggest surprise of all was that the rumble works with PS 2 games in the PS 3 system. I am currently playing through "God of War", a game which had the rumble capability in PS 2. I thought that it was unlikely that I was going to get this feature with this new controller in the PS 3, but it worked perfectly.

I know that having to buy a new controller and basically discard the one that came with the system is not the ideal situation, but I have to say this product is really worth shedding the extra bucks.

The Playstation 2's highly regarded DualShock 2 controller was considered by many to be the best videogame controller of all time. So when you've got a winning design there's no need to change anything. However, because of a legal battle with Immersion over rumble technology, Sony was forced to offer their Sixaxis controller without rumble. The Sixaxis had the same Dualshock design but it felt too lightweight and cheap. Thankfully the lawsuit has been settled and rumble has come back to the Playstation.

For the most part, the DualShock 3 is almost identical to its PS2 precessor. But it has all the features of the original Sixaxis controller in addition to rumble. The controller is still wireless, can be charged by plugging it into your PS3 (or PC), rumble is compatible with all PS1 and PS2 games, and the PS3 supports up to 7 controllers at the same time via bluetooth. Rumble in the DualShock 3 seems more responsive in regards to the location of its vibration depending on which side you get hit on during the games. I don't know if this is something in the design or if it's the developers doing it for the games but I welcome it.

All in all this is currently the best designed controller on the market right now. The PS2's DS2 was incredible so "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here. I'll be enjoying rumble in my PS3 games from now on.

Do not buy the pink controller from Digistore, It is a fake, the joysticks are very stiff the buttons are taller and with dull ink, it also has a hard time syncing with console. Battery last 5 minutes tops. The sticker on the back is simply paper, not the plasticized decal on authentic sonys. Apearence-wise its a good fake, but use it and you'll know All the classic signs of a counterfeit. this isn't worth $5, much less $45 and two weeks of waiting. AVOID DIGISTORE, they are thieves who knowingly sell cheap knock offs.'

Car Battery Charger - car battery charger, automotive

Very impressed so far. Used it to recondition 2 batteries and charge up 2 others and it has worked flawlessly. Never impressed with Black and Decker tools but I think they got it right this time. Time will tell and I would have given it 5 stars if it holds up for a few years. Black & Decker VEC1093DBD Smart Battery 40/20/10/4 Amp Battery Charger

This battery charger is very versatile and powerful for its size. I am a mechanic and it is nice to have all the features of a full size battery charger in a unit that will fit in my toolbox. Looks big, but is fairly lightweight. Highly recommended.

I bought this to trickle charge my car that I rarely drive. This battery has "Float Mode" that is supposed to do this. The instructions say it should go into this mode automatically after fully charging. I waited days but it never switched to Float Mode; meanwhile the built in fan is running 24/7. So I emailed B&D for help. The gal who replied, Barbara Barr, didn't know the product, and on top of it, insisted all new batteries, my Die Hard included, are Gel type. I went back and forth with her for days, telling her that a Sears battery dept head told me they only make Wet type. What's more, I can take the caps off the cells and see the liquid. She insisted it was a Gel type. I gave up on the online support and called the help number on the instructions. Nobody at their call center knew much about this charger. They set up a call back from someone at their headquarters. It took a couple of days to talk due to time differences. This man, Robert, was helpful and knew the product. The instructions should have explained that the charger switches to Float Mode only after the you first fully charged it, then left it hooked up while the battery slowly loses its charge. Once it falls below 12.6v then it should go into Float Mode. In this mode, as its topping up the charge, the fan comes on, but should go off in between. The design flaw is, the built in fan stays on 24/7 until the charge falls below 12.6v even if this takes weeks. The fan is to cool the CPU, but should only need that when the charger is charging and generating heat. It should have been programmed to turn the fan off while its waiting to go into float mode. Or, it should go into float mode immediately after it fully charges. Or, they could give you a manual switch to put it in float mode.

They could of had a good product. Its so close. Yet, its flawed. I'll keep it because there are no good alternatives in the same price range. But you have to tolerate the bad design.

I BROUGHT THIS BLACK&DECKER CHARGER NEW EIGHT MONTH AGO AND HAVE USED ALL FEATURES. MY MOTORCYCLE BATTERY WAS DEAD FOR SIX MONTHS TOOK IT IN FOR RECHARGE THEY TOLD ME NO GOOD, I PUT IT ON RECONDITION MODE 24 HR LATER LIKE NEW SAVED $125.00 STILL IN USE SIX MO. LATER, MY WIFE LEFT HER LIGHTS ALL NIGHT BATTER TOTALY DRAINED THE BATTERY 6 HRS LATER LIKE NEW.CHEV ASTRO VAN SAT FOR TWO WEEKS BATTERY NO GOOD AGAIN RECODITION MODE 24 HRS LATER LIKE NEW.OUTSTANDING PRODUCT. FOUR YEAR BATTERY IN MY GARAGE FOR 8 MONTHS WOULD NOT TAKE A GHARGE NO PROBLEM RECONDITION MODE 24 HRS LATER WORKS LIKE NEW. NABORS CAR WON`T START SET TO ENGIN START QUICK START SAID HE WAS GOINING DOWN TO GET NEW BATTER I TOLD HIM TO RECONDITION IT FRIST 24 HRS LATER THAT`S RIGHT LIKE NEW STILL 4 MONTH LATER. HAD IT RESTESTED AFTER THEY FRIST TOLD HIM TO GET A NEW ONE THEY SAID IT WAS AS GOOD AS NEW.

An earlier review by Carolyn incorrectly stated that this device can start your vehicle when stranded on the roadside. It does not. That review was intended for a "jump start" device. This battery charger is to recharge weak batteries with the supplied power cord plugged into a 120 volt outlet. The only normal way this device would be helpful for someone on the road is if a 120 volt gasoline generator was available. Search for a "jumpstart" auxilary battery device if you seek a roadside assistance device to start your stranded vehicle.

I purchased this to charge a pair of very large AGM deep cell batteries I have hooked in series. It took them from near zero to full charge in a bit over 4 hours, topping them off slowly and then automatically shut down... perfect. It's light, easy to use, the cables, clamps and case are robust and should take a lot of use without failure.

One other thing of note, if you plug it into a small gas generator, on 4 amp charge it won't even bring the generator off idle. This allows you to charge batteries, and also run household items off the generator at the same time. Perfect for cabin or RV solar systems on rainy cloudy days when the solar panels won't provide enough and no "plug" is available.

This is an excellent product that seems to do exactly what it is supposed to do and it does it well. Sturdy and easy to handle do to the relatively light weight (compare the weight of this charger to ones with the more conventional transformer design). On the 40 Amp setting it rapidly charged my trailer batteries without breaking a sweat and it didn't seem to mind running on generator power (even though there is a microprocessor inside). The User interface may seem a little odd but it's easy to get used to and the digital display is nice. Nice built-in pocket too for storing the power cord and charging "clips". I'm happy I returned the 20 Amp iron-heavy charger I had bought that wasn't doing the job and discovered and bought this one. Shop around, though, the price really varies.

I bought this charger from Amazon a little over a year ago and use it about once a month. The fan became raspy when starting after about nine months but would sound ok once it it got going. Now it has stopped altogether.

Interestingly, I was Googling this charger and "fan" and this Amazon review site popped up. I see it's happened to others as well. A fan failure after a bit over a year shows very poor quality, especially since mine is not an isolated incident. How many people had this problem but bought them elsewhere or who don't post reviews? And the warranty issues are as I would expect.

While I have the floor, my policy on warranties is: If the item is expensive or I don't trust it, I go to a big-box/any-local store where I can return it for 6 months, no matter what. Other than that, on the internet, there is no warranty. This item is inexpensive; I can try a Schumacher next.

There's no way I'm going to find a box, pack it, trudge to a shipper/P.O., pay to ship it, hope.

Anything I buy on the internet is a done deal.

As an engineer, I'm going to open mine up and see if I can find a similar fan on DigiKey.

If I find one (and think of it), I'll post it here. Be prepared to perform surgery.

I've seen previous posts stating that the fan is only to cool the CPU. I doubt it. As light as this is and the with amps it can deliver, this is obviously using switcher technology which definitely has actual heat sinks or, probably, cooling surfaces (still heat sinks). A transformer-based charger would weigh MUCH more. The CPU would probably be the last thing to fail and the power semiconductors or any copper would be more likely. But, no matter; if anything fails, it's toast.

Also, DO NOT USE THIS CHARGER ON Odyssey batteries. I tested the AGM mode and it does go over 15 volts, which will destroy an Odyssey battery. At hundreds of dollars each, losing an Odyssey hurts. I haven't lost any due to this charger (because I won't use it) but have lost two to solar chargers. The solar chargers will only supply 100mA (.1 amp) but they can reach 20 volts, open circuit, which is enough to ruin an Odyssey. This may also apply to Optima batteries sold in auto stores as they are also made by Hawker. Aside from an "equalizing", which requires a nail in a hole on this charger, I don't think ANY charger should EVER go over 14.5 volts. There's no point.

I concur with other comments about the fact that it won't even try on a completely dead battery. I can see needing SOME voltage to detect a reversed connection, but give a guy a chance. Just say "voltage too low" (or reword the instructions) rather than declaring the battery shot. And provide an override button. There are two ways around this. 1) Charge with a "dumb" charger or a trickle charger for a while or 2)(cumbersome but faster) Use jumper cables to connect a good battery in parallel and start charging immediately. Remove the good battery and recharge it later.

Also, their "recondition" mode (I forget what they call it) does nothing. Plus, it stops after a day or so (I forget that, too). I have two "zappers" (desulfators) that I built and they work very well. But they take a month, or two, or three; no way should a zapper stop after a day or two.

I built my own but Jaycar (Australia) has a very similar kit, with improvements over mine. If the B&D "reconditioner" didn't stop so soon, it might work, who knows? There's no way anything could work in less than a few weeks, other than a very mildly sulfated battery.

Also, I don't know what kind of voltages this charger uses in recondition mode, but mine, at 80-100 volts, can damage your car's radio, engine-computer, etc. To be safe, remove the battery from the car; do not "recondition" an in-vehicle battery.

I'll digress here (if I haven't already) ... desulfating:

Wet-cell batteries (with lead plates/honeycombs) develop a sulfate coating on the plates when left discharged for a period of time. (This is why you should put float chargers on wet-cell batteries, but there's a catch). Constant float charging will dehydrate your battery, no harm done. Just add DISTILLED water and you're back in business. I put mine on a 24-hour timer and run them for 1 hour out of every 24. Back to sulfated batteries: everything is perfect, good lead, good acid but the sulfate coating acts as an insulator that prevents charging/discharging (use). The most obvious indicator is that a very dead battery will reach a full-charge voltage very quickly, too quickly.

Even a trickle-charger will bring it to full voltage is minutes, if not seconds.

The zappers work by pulsing the battery with 80-100 volts for 50 microseconds 1000 times a second (every millisecond). The theory is that this causes the plates to vibrate (somehow, it's a mystery) and break off the sulfate coating. It does work but it's extremely slow. You can't desulfate the battery from your daily driver overnight. You must buy a new one and then desulfate the old one for non-critical use.

So, would I recommend this charger to a friend? No!

1) An early fan failure is not acceptable. This is just trash, considering it's happened to others.

If you don't know to listen for the fan, your unit will eventually emit acrid smoke. Game over.

If you listen and hear no fan, stop - pull the plug. If you can't replace the fan, game over.

If it weren't for the fan failure, I could live with this charger. I am severely peeved.

2) No charger should go over 14.5 volts for reasons noted above. Even Harbor Freight trickle

chargers are set at 13.5 volts. I like them and use them.

3) Any reconditioning, desulfating, zapping operation should continue until the user terminates it.

A day or two is ludicrous.

Last word: If you're in the 99.9% of users who don't use Odyssey batteries and don't need to

desulfate old batteries, this is a very useable product. UNTIL THE FAN DIES. - Battery - Automotive - Smart Charger - Car Battery Charger'
