String Light - string light, good earth

I bought one of these 24-footers, it works great now but I was a little scared when I first put it up... One section of about 6-feet was blinking after I'd installed it along the ceiling crevice in my dining room, Eventually I got working ok just by repositioning it... but that's why I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5. Good Earth Lighting, Inc. G9524CLR-I 24-Foot Rope Lighting, Clear

Purchase process was easy. The product arrived in time. One of the 24 foot strings has a broken wire so about two feet does not light unless you twist and play with it. It is too small of an item to fool around trying to return, etc., so I just won't buy from that vendor again. I probably will not buy this type of product on line ever again. Live and learn.

I bought these to light up my hut in Afghanistan and thought they worked fairly well. I then strung the rope up and where the rope bent at a loose 90 degrees that section has burnt out.

I would also like to have an on/off switch for this product as well.

Just got these in the mail today, and as soon as I went to put them up 2 sections of the lights burnt out. If you jiggle them ALOT, they will turn back on for a minute, but then they go out again. It's not worth trying to mess with them constantly, so I'm going to return them. I would just go buy these types of lights in a store like Lowe's or something in the future, to avoid having to deal with the whole shipping drama for returns, etc. Cheap, cheap, cheap!

I bought these rope lights to run around the railing on my deck for ambient lighting at night. They worked great right out of the box, and I haven't had any problems with them in the two weeks that I have been using them so far. One nice thing about this set is that it about 3/8" in diameter, which is a little bit thinner than most other rope lights. This give them a slightly lower profile and makes them less noticeable when they aren't turned on.

My only complaint might be that the screws included with the mounting hardware are a bit weak. I managed to shear the heads off of about 6 of them while trying to mount them in the hardwood railings. If you don't mind picking up $1.00 worth of screws at your hardware store, then this a great set.

We bought these and waited a few weeks to put on our patio. At first we thought they were great but after two weeks, sections of the lights burned out. Since we had waited so long to hang them it was too late to return them. We bought two strings of lights and they both did the same. Have had other rope lights that lasted for years, feel these must have been defective.

My daughter needed these for a high school activity. Two of the three complete lengths of the rope light did not work. She had to purchase three additional lengths at the local ACE for the show.

Very poor quality control of this product. Would not purchase from this company in the future.

THESE LIGHTS ARE GREAT BUT IF YOU WANT A WHITE WHITE LIGHT THESE ARE NOT THE LIGHTS FOR YOU. WE BOUGHT THE CLEAR LIGHTS BUT THEY ARE REALLY MORE OF A PALE WHITE, DIRTY WHITE OR REAL LIGHT YELLOW LIGHT. WE HAVE SOME CLEAR LED LIGHTS IN THE YARD AND YOU CAN REALLY TELL THE DIFFERENCE BUT THE ROPE LIGHTS ARE GREAT, JUST NOT WHITE....... - String Light - Good Earth - Electric - Rope Lights'

Technology

This book is set up as a text book, with anticipatory guides, questions and activities for the reader to do. I was expecting a book with too many ideas, but instead this book is for those that aren't familiar with the arts or how to incorporate them into the classroom. There are better books out there, and this is more of a stroking of the authors' worth than anything else. I was very disappointed with this book.

If you have no clues about what art is or how to use it in your lessons, than this book is for you, but if you have any background using art at all, ignore this book. Teaching Literacy through the Arts (Tools for Teaching Literacy)

I have used this text in my undergrad course for the last couple of years. It is written in real language with lots of practical suggestions for elementary and middle school teachers. I wish I had had textbooks like this when I was in college!

I like this book and will use it with a class on arts methods in education. It divides the arts in four main domains: visual arts, theatre/drama, music, and dance, and each chapter is chock full of ways to use these domains in the K-12 classroom. At the end, they feature three lengthy integrated units that center around a single work or theme, kind of like Leonard Bernstein's arts-based curriculum. One of them is a unit on jazz study, which I thought was a great idea. A few of the explanations are tedious, some statements needed a few citations to hold up, and the anticipation guides could be answered correctly by anyone with a brain, but these are small quibbles. Mainly, it's a good book to get teachers thinking about the wide range of arts-based activities they can promote even without special training.'

Preschooler Activities - crafts, activities

I found this book to be very easy, it contains many crafts that you can do with little supplies, does not take a lot of time, and the kids love it. Also I found the singing and games to be useful for any mother who is trying to find her preschool or early elementary child something to do while they are at home.

Also the singing and games are great family activities.

A great value for the money. Sing! Play! Create!: Hands-on Learning for 3- to 7-year-olds (Little Hands Books)

I am a Pre-K teacher and have used this book so much in the classroom! I especially like it because it is very organized, has illustrations to go along with the theme. It has poems, fun facts, games, fingerplays and songs to go along with each theme! I highly recommend this book to any teacher, home schooler or mom who wants to get creative and keep your child busy!

I love this book! My 20 month old has done many of the crafts and songs in it (with help of course) and loves it. If she sees it we have to "sing and paint" (so sometimes it gets hidden...) but the crafts are really basic and easy to do in one session at home.

Simple instructions, great layout, good pictures, and I like the songs and stories that go with each craft

One of my favorite craft books. Songs, homemade games, and simple activities are included. The crafts are all that require nothing fancy and can be accomplished by all the kids (nothing too complicated, with just a few steps) so no one gets frustrated at the end of the afternoon. The whole book revolves around animals or insects.

This book provides activities, songs, and crafts that are all related in a theme or concept. For example, we made cardboard tube binoculars and then pretended we were in a boat and sang "Row, Row, Row your Boat" while we looked for mermaid, sharks, turtles and lost puppies. My daughter still asks to "go in the boat".

I am buying this book because my daughter has checked this one out from the library so many times that I think we should own it! It comes in handy for easy crafts with a lot of the same materials required (hooray for simplistic supplies) and my daughter even loves the cute little songs/rhymes you can sing that go along with your craft. She's already made 7 items and has many more bookmarked that she'd like to do! And I could easily see her repeating crafts later on as her art skills develop. For instance, when I was watching my nieces who are 6 & 8 yrs old -- they had a great time making the same craft that my 4 year old was making. Of course you could tell who made what, but they all enjoyed the activity very much! --- They learn to read directions, gather materials, make compromises when you might not have everything and that leads to even more creativity discovering what can work instead. Sounds like a small sprinkling of life lessons to me! And all that for making a caterpillar out of toilet paper rolls?!? You betch'ya ;) - Crafts - Activities - Family Activities - Preschooler Activities'

Garmin Nuvi Case - hard drive case, portable case

The case is well designed and made. The outer material feels durable, the inner shell soft and well padded. The overall case is well formed and seams look carefully done.

I bought this to be used with the Western Digital Passport II (black) WDXMSxxxx drives (5.1"x3.1"x0.6") and the case is a tad too big for it. The drive has a little too much wiggle room despite the elastic strap inside. I imagine the case will be better fitted for slightly bigger drives, e.g. Seagate's ST9xxxxx1U2-RK. Case Logic PHDC-1 Portable Hard Drive Case (Magenta)

I got this case in the blue color with a contrasting bright yellow interior. The material is all-around high-quality, and the case offers excellent protection for my external hard drive(s).

Since this is a universal drive case it cannot be a perfect fit for every portable hard drive out there. I own several different-size drives and here is how they fit:

- First generation WD Passport (silver colored, blueish rubberized bottom, Western Digital 80 GB Passport 2.5-inch External Hard Drive) fits perfectly. I suspect that this case was originally made for these drives.

- Newer WD Passport (various colors, non-rubberized bottom, WD Passport Portable WDXMSB1600 - Hard drive - 160 GB - external - 2.5" - Hi-Speed USB - 5400 rpm - buffer: 2 MB - metallic red): The case is too long and too wide, but because of the elasticized strap the drive still fits ok provided you don't stretch the strap by putting in thicker items before using it with this type of drive.

- Seagate FreeAgent Go (Seagate FreeAgent Go 160 GB USB External Hard Drive ST901603FGA1E1-RK: The drive is a tiny bit wide. On the other hand, because it is such a snug fit width-wise, the drive also doesn't slide around in the case. And the case still can be zipped shut with this drive.

If one doesn't have cables etc. to store in the accessory pocket in the other half of the case, this pocket can double as storage space for another drive, the case still zips shut, even with two of the largest of the above-mentioned drives in it.

I recommend this case to anyone looking for high-quality protection for portable hard drives and other electronics, such as PDAs or MP3 players.

I purchased this case for my Lacie Rugged Hard Drive LaCie 500 GB 7200 rpm Rugged All-Terrain FireWire 800/ FireWire 400/USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive 301900 and it's great! It fits the drive perfectly and protects it well. I shoot video and often edit on location, so I end up dragging my drive through the worst of conditions, but it's survived like a champ and this case has definitely helped.

Small External HD Case Black I bought this case to protect my Western Digital 250 GB portable USB hard drive, as I move the drive around a lot between home and work. I'm using the hard drive to back up my iTunes music collection, so I want to take care of it, hence I purchased this Case Logic case. The case is easy to use. When you open it up, you'll find two compartments (one on each side). One has an elastic strap that snuggly holds your hard drive in position. The other compartment has a mesh flap which acts like a pocket, so you can have a space to put a USB cable and maybe a flash drive or two in a pinch. As the case is small, it isn't really designed such that you can leave the hard drive in the case during operation. There isn't enough room for the connector to fit when it is placed in the drive, without the cable putting undue stress on the connector (not a good idea - duh!). In any event, the hard drive produces some heat during operation, so you probably wouldn't want to leave it in the case anyway. My only two complaints or observations are that a real hand strap could have been provided instead of the rubber thingy for carrying the drive more safely to and from a car, and that there isn't really a lot of padding in the sides of the case. I still wouldn't want to drop the hard drive while in the case onto concrete. Maybe from 3 feet onto carpet would be survivable. I guess I expected it to be lined with some styrofoam (I won't tell Al Gore) to provide more protection. Still, it does provide a nice place to keep your hard drive and cable together, without them getting all scratched up.

This is my second Case-Logic case for a portable hard drive, (original case is 1-1/2 years old and shows no wear). This PHDC-1 case fits the Seagate 1TB Go Portable drive like a glove. The sizes are misleading on the various sites. The PHDC-1 inside dims are: 3.5 wide X 5.25 long X 1.5 thick. Like another reviewed stated, it's a bit snug on the width, but no worries.

The case is made of a soft, yet rigid, material which fits the Seagate ST9160821U2-RK External 160GB Hard Drive like a glove. The elastic band helps hold the drive in place while the case is being opened and closed. There is a net inside for holding the USB cable as well. The zipper opens and closes nicely allowing the entire case to open and lie flat. So far, I've purchased three drives and cases for storing digital photographs and have been pleased with both products.

I got this for the Seagate 500 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive ST905004EXA101-RK (Black). It fits snugly and has enough room for the USB cable & probably couple of more cables/accessories. This is a great product not only for someone who is looking to carry the portable HDD but also to keep it in a protective place at home and don't have to fear about the HDD collecting dust or any other accidental breakage. I highly recommend this product ! - External Hard Drive - Hard Drive Case - Garmin Nuvi Case - Portable Case'

Subwoofer Cable - cables, blueproton

I ordered this adapter to use with the Acoustic Research AP053 Sub-woofer RCA to RCA Cable. I needed it since my sub-woofer is older, and had jacks for Left and Right channels. The cable is well-built and durable. I have always liked Acoustic Research audio products and this was a good price. There are cheaper adapters out there, but I was willing to pay a little more for AR quality. Acoustic Research AP040 Y Adaptor RCA female to 2 RCA male molded connectors

Well I purchased this item so I can run two subwoofers at the rear of the room. I ran a single sub cable to this y-adapter with one end into one sub and with the use of another rca coupler I ran another sub cable to the other corner where the other sub is placed. Very useful as I only needed to run (hide) a single cable from amp to behind the couch.

I have no buzz/hum coming from the subs so I figure the product is doing its job well.

The product itself is about 10" long... nice solid male and female connecters with tight fittings. I do not have any monster y-adapters to compare this product with but compared to the genaric rca splitters the AR cable is much much better. Not only in gold plated connections but cable quality is also much better... at least twice if not three times as thick.

On a side note I just want to tell you if you are going to purchase this item stay away from the seller Blueproton. Absolutely terrible seller with zero customer service!

Great Product if you have a need for one, you wont be disappointed. - Audio Cables - Interconnects - Blueproton - Cables'

Reconditioned Tools - nail gun, roofing nailers

I replaced the roof on my house with this wonderful tool. As far as I can tell, the only difference between the reconditioned Bostitch roofing nailer and a new one is the price. This nail gun works wonderful and really saved my forearms. It helped in quickly aligning the shingles and the driving force was easily dialed in. Very few nails needed to be finished off with the hammer. It is easy to load and use. Factory-Reconditioned Bostitch U/RN46-1 3/4-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Coil Roofing Nailer

I'm installing hardi-plank lap siding and needed a roofing gun. The Bostitch RN46 seems to be one of the most popular, and the reconditioned model costs about 5x of what the daily rental for is in my area. How could I go wrong?

The factory-reconditioned nailer arrived promptly and well packaged. (Gotta love Amazon Prime membership). When I took it out of the box, I would have sworn that it was a brand new unit. Not a scratch, mar, dent, or blemish - even the rubbery side slip-pieces (that keep it from sliding off a roof) were new. I attached a 1/4" brass air nipple (not supplied), added 3 or 4 drops of air tool oil to the air inlet, and let her rip.

Bang, Bang, Bang - this is a whole lot easier than attempting to nail siding by hand.

Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang, Hssssssssssssss. Oh crap....

After firing only 7 nails, the unit just died. Air would hiss out from around the trigger, but the firing pin wouldn't move.

I took out the nail belt, checked the nailing pin to see if it was stuck, checked the air pressure, jumped up and down, hit my head against the wall. Nothing would work.

So I logged back onto the Amazon web site and found that Amazon has a great replacement policy. Amazon shipped me another unit which arrived the next day free of charge. They supplied me with a free mailing label to return the defective unit.

If that was the end of the story, I'd be a happy camper. I appreciate a company that stands behind its sales. Unfortunately, the story has another chapter.

The replacement unit that I received looked like it had been used for several years, fallen off a roof or two, and was left out to weather just for affect! I'd would have thought twice about it if I found it at a yard sale for $10. While it did work fine (see below), I'm disappointed that range of "factory refurbished" products could quite so large. Perhaps I just experienced the two extremes, but I'm not sure I would call the 2nd unit "refurbished".

The web page says: "Reconditioned generally means that the tool has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the tool back to like new condition."

I'm not sure what "generally means" means, but it certainly doesn't mean "always means".

The 2nd unit works fine, and I've used it to install 40-50 courses of siding. 1-nail-in-15 will double-fire and result in a second nail being partially sunk next to the first one. Its easy to either remove it, or just pound it in. With constant pressure, 1-nail-in-10 will require an additional tap with a hammer to set it completely flush with the surface.

One tidbit that I didn't quite understand was the fact that this unit is a "bump-fire" unit (as it has a black trigger). These are great for roofing where you just want to hold the trigger and tap the nailer against the shingle several times. The grey-trigger units are "trigger-fire" units - in which you press the head against a surface, then squeeze the trigger each time you want to fire. This 2nd type of firing is slower, but allows you to better position the gun. I think for siding, a "trigger-fire" unit would have worked better than a "bump-fire" unit. For me. I have several Milwaukee nailers that allow you to switch between these 2 firing modes by just conveniently flipping a switch on the side of the unit, as opposed to swapping out trigger assemblies.

Now I'm not sure what to do. While the 2nd unit works fine, I don't think it arrived in "like new condition" as described in the product description. And now I've gotten 2 or 3 days of work out of the nailer.

I applaud Amazon for their handling of the return, but don't know whether I should be disappointed in Bostitch or Amazon for shipping out such a heavily used unit as "factory reconditioned".

My factory reconditioned roofing gun came in a nice box from the company. It looks virtually new. It has a few scratches here and there but very little. It looks like it went through about four hours of actual roof abuse. I received it about two days after ordering. I am extremly happy with the quality and price.

I purchased this reconditioned tool on 12/15/10, I used it for 2 days beginning 1/24/11, and it failed on 1/27/11. It bypasses air, when trigger is pulled, no nail. I called CPO, they no longer honor the 30 day warranty. I called Bostitch Service and they said take it to CO (287 miles away) or send it at my own expense to Louisville, KY. They also said I could take it to a Authorized Dealer in ABQ, NM so they could ship it to KY. I called the number they gave me and it has been disconnected. I looked up the name on the internet, got a different number and have been calling for 2 days, but they do not answer the phone (no message option available). I will never buy from Stanley Bostitch again, and do not recommend this tool.

I just got this and already did a roof. I've used a lot of different guns. this one is easier to load since it only has one door loading for the nails. It seems lighter and well balanced which means a lot when your on a roof all day. The only thing that got me at first only because I didn't read the instructions and just loaded it and tried to go to town. Was the nail magazine that holds the nails adjusts to the size of nail your using. you have to do this manually. After I did that it shoots purfect. Oh and with this gun no more losing that last nail. Out of the three guns I've bought this is by far the best one. - Reconditioned - Roofing Nailers - Reconditioned Tools - Nail Gun'
