Cordless Lawn Tools - black and decker, battery

It is amazing how one becomes accustomed, over time, to less that great performance when one has nothing to compare it to. Two of my six (several years old) old batteries finally gave up the ghost and would not recharge. I use them on a cordless drill, pole-extension type chain saw and pole-extension type trimmer. I finally decided to start replacing them while the design was still available remembering the demise of the B&D Versa-Pack batteries. My batteries arrived very quickly. I had either never experienced or had totally forgotten what my equipment could do on new batteries. The model number was different but they were the batteries used by my tools. It took only one battery to do the job normally requiring two to three of the older ones and I still had the power and torque on my tools to continue on to the next project. They must've upgraded the cells in these new packs.

Were my old batteries ever this good? I just don't remember and don't think so, but I am, none the less, a very happy customer with these new ones. Black & Decker HPB18 18-Volt Slide-Pack Battery

I'm not sure where Amazon gets a $60+ retail price - Home Depot's price for this is $34.97. I'd be better off going to Home Depot to get it and then I get a competitive price AND no shipping. But it is a good product.

I bought the whole B&D outdoor set (trimmer, blower, weedwack) a little over a year ago. It came with 3 of these batteries, which I faithfully kept charged as instructed in the manual. I used the tools less than the average person, yet the batteries already don't hold a charge, despite their claims of "no memory effect". Stay away from this product

I have only used these two batteries once. I charged them for a day and used them in a cordless weedeater. One battery lasted less than 5 minutes, the other less than 10.

I have several Black & Decker 18v tools, and they are useless without adequate batteries.

B&D advertises a longer-use battery but it appears to be unavailable.

I feel cheated by B&D.

I have a Black and Decker string edger and a Black and Decker hedge trimmer that both use this 18 Volt slide in battery pack. My old batteries were only lasting 10 minutes after a charge so I decided to replace them rather than buying new equipment (original batteries were 5 years old). The old batteries are the notorious Nicad type that has memory issues. I had hoped that the new batteries would be NiMh, but no such luck, Nicad batteries once again!! You have to wonder why Black and Decker would continue to use battery technology that everyone else has given up on due to poor performance.

The replacement batteries fit and they do hold a charge after being used three or four times (first charge only lasted 15 minutes instead of the 30 that they should). They are now holding their charge for about 28 minutes of use, so they are working the way they should.

I rated the batteries as a three instead of a five due to the use of NiCad again!!!!

This Black & Decker HPB18 battery is marginally acceptable. I think it is over priced and only lasts for 20 or so minutes--that's why I had to buy this (a second one) one. The original kept running down before I was done with my project. I already had $85.00 invested in the B&D tool so getting another battery as a backup was a cheaper option to buying another entire tool system.

I purchased a Black and Decker combination pack that had the need for more than one battery. I checked several places for an addition battery. It seems that you might as well buy a whole new drill whether than just the needed battery. When I saw the battery on Amazon for the price you charged, I knew that was a good deal and purchased it. Thank you. Richard Andrews

This type battery doesn't hold a charge for a weedcutter. I emailed this company and they responded almost immediately. They even went out of their way to call Black and Decker to find out what the problem was. They have sent a return label for shipping. I recomend doing business with this company. Thanks Jack and Gail!!!!

Shipping was fast. The price was right. I worked on my cellar door and the cordless tools worked good. Drilled through metal to wood and had to cut bracing boards. Got the job done without breaking out the corded tools. I've seen good reviews and bad ones. I'll have to wait with my next project to see if the batteries keep up the good work. - Battery Packs - Black And Decker - Cordless Lawn Tools - Battery'

Blackberry Curve Case - case, curve case

I really liked the design on this case. I wanted something pretty at a good price. Thankfully, the price I paid was quite minimal. It lasted maybe two weeks. I accidentally dropped my phone (is there any other way to drop a phone?) and the top corner broke and could no longer snap together. I dealt with it for a few days and then switched to the case my sister gave me. Again, disappointed at the low durability, but I didn't pay much for it in the end. FOR BLACKBERRY CURVE 8520 8530 HARD CASE PINK FLOWERS

once you put this one your blackberry dont plan on taking it off. the plastic fits together very well the first time and the design is very nice but when or if you take it off the the little plastics parts that hold it together break and you and it will never fit as tight as it did when you first put it on.

Just got the case I ordered. I was acually surprised when I saw that it wasn't the color (white) shown in the picture when I ordered it. I received a grey case instead of the white one that I liked. The shipping was fast and satisfactory and the case seems to be made out of a durable material. 5 stars if I actually got the case in a color that I was expecting.

This cover is excellent. I had ordered several other ones and this one was my favorite because it gave access to the side of the keyboard and did not make my device bigger. It fit perfectly and looks very nice. I would recommend this to all whom have the phone I do.

I bought this case for my phone and was so excited when I found it in my mailbox; but when I opened the package, it was broken! I tried to not let this affect my happiness; I used super glue. It doesn't feel durable (and it isn't, either). Everytime I dropped my phone the case broke in half and my phone got scratched. And after a few weeks the sides started to fall off. It's a flimsy case for every day use, but I suppose if you only want to use it maybe 2-3 days a week it's nice for decoration. But.. that's only what it's good for if you ask me.

I am very satisfied with this case it actually arrived sooner than I expected but that's a plus to me it's been five years since i've ordered online since one bad incident but everything went smooth and I will order from this site again - Blackberry Curve Case - Blackberry Curve - Case - Curve Case'

Finis

We just got these in today and my daughter loves them - so fun to use! They are helping her to kick correctly when she's swimming - and move fast across the pool! The fins are made from 100% rubber, the quality is outstanding. The fins will more than likely last years and years. They will NOT fall apart after a couple of uses like those cheap ones.

The only problem I have, but it's not the fault of the fins, is that my daughter's feet are very slim and small. Sometimes the fins come off. She's 4 1/2 years old and wears a size 7 shoe. So if your son or daughter is petite, I would suggest getting the Finis Fishtail Baby Fins (Blue). I ordered a pair today and I plan to pick these up until her feet grow a little bigger.

Excellent investment - I highly suggest them for your own kids! Finis Fishtail Junior Fins (Yellow)

Oh, I hate giving a not great review >< I really wanted these to work for us - I like the snap adjustments, the shape and color... I was so excited about them! When they arrived we went straight to the pool and tried them out. My son is over 3 1/2, but is very tall and about the size of a 5 year old. These were just too heavy and awkward for him to use, and kept slipping off even when we adjusted them very tightly. He kept trying and trying, he didn't want me to take them off, but they are quite stiff, heavy and unpliable. They ended up rubbing some of his skin off on the front of his ankle, and he just kept sinking with them. Now, having said this, I could see these probably working for an older kid (7-8 years old?) - AND I do love the good quality construction. They are sturdy and well-made. This is what led me to order a different pair of fins from this same company - the Finis Junior Floating Fins (the blue-green ones, size 8-11, were a nice fit). They are also good quality materials, they don't feel like they are going to fall apart or tear, and they are pliable and light-weight. He had success with them.

I bought these for my 6-year-old to practice free-style kicking. I don't see how it helped him at all. The traditional style, i.e. rubber one with long fins seem to work much better. These are too heavy and stiff. I don't think they feel comfortable either. I ended up returning them.'

Brita Filters - brita filters, water filters

We always kept two boxes of these on hand as replacements when we used our Brita filter pitcher (we went to an in-line because we drink so much filtered water --we'd go through 40 gallons in no time, but that is a LOT of water.) There are three "gotcha's" on these filters to be aware of:1. Do not let the filter dry out. When the pitcher is empty, you should refill the reservoir right away. When the pitcher is full or partly full, the bottom of the filter is in the water and keeping moist.2. The filter needs to be soaked and flushed exactly according to directions. Some of the charcoal packing comes off in the flushing process, and if you don't take care of it, you will have specks in the water. This is no big problem, just something to be aware of.3. Never put overly warm or hot water through the filter. If you follow the directions, you will have, as we did, gallons of water that cost a lot less and taste as good or better than the water you buy in plastic containers in the supermarket. Brita 35503 Pitcher Replacement Water Filter Cartridges, 3-Pack

I have been using Brita filters for over six years now and I have nothing but the best to say about them. Living in a part of the country where the tap water contains impurities resulting in poor taste, at first I resorted to bottled water. Besides being hard on the old wallet, I found that some brands had a burnt aftertaste to them. So I tried Brita. I was amazed at how it improved the taste of ordinary tap water. It tasted better than some bottled water I had been purchasing and it was crystal clear. I have been using Brita ever since. The only drawback initially is the cost of the pitcher, but once you have it the only other cost are the filters that are readily available at most stores. Each filter lasts about 40 gallons, which translates into getting bottled water quality for seventeen cents per gallon.

In California the water tends to be very hard. I purchased an under the sink two stage water filtration system and thought the problem would be solved. The water still tasted bad so I bought a Brita pitcher filter. Unbelievable! It tasted so good. I think it's because each filter has silver oxide particles mixed in with the charcoal and it softens the water very well. I wish I would have tried this filter first.Since moving to the east coast I still find that these filters do a great job at making the water taste as good or better than bottled water at a fraction of the cost.

The Brita pitcher water filtering system is a good idea if you have problems with your tap water. Filtered water is a much lower cost than bottled water and as long as your tap is running, you can have an almost endless supply.

I live in New York City. The water quality is variable at best. The city constantly monitors water and "adjusts" additives to combat bacteria and other pollutants. Often, especially in the summer months, the chlorine level is very high.

The Brita filter takes care of the chlorine problem and removes other additives, as well.

The result is clear, fresh & pure tasting water that is excellent for drinking, cooking, beverage making and ice cubes (bad ice cubes can ruin a drink.)

Heed the instructions about filter replacement. The filters are rated at 40 US gallons each. If you exceed the recommended filter "life", you will definitely notice diminished results. This is especially noticeable with chlorinated water. The smell returns and the filtered water does not taste as good any more.

All-in-all, this is an excellent filter, but it's no speed demon.

The only real problems I've noticed are with the pitcher timer breaking and the poor results if you leave the filter in the pitcher too long (beyond the 40 gallon estimated limit.)

Also, do not allow the filter to dry out once you've started using it.

Buying the larger packages of filters saves money and is worth it, in the long run.

The Brita filters are an excellent lower-end water purification system. They work quite well in most cases and these new filters come with a guide that indicates when it is time to change the filter. This is a marked improvement over the old method of going by calendar days based on the number of times you fill the pitcher per day.

I have been using this system for a couple of years now. Here's a tip to get rid of the little black particles...If you make sure to keep the water level above the level of the filter at all times, the carbon particles will not get into your water! Good luck!

Pleased with product, very good price (at ten bucks for a 3-pack). Definitely improves my tap water's taste.

I think these filters last 3 or 4 months easily -- there's no need to replace them after 2 months, as Brita suggests.

In fact, when I first started using Brita, the filter boxes and the reminder device that came with my pitcher stated 3 months...then suddenly they changed it to 2 months. Obviously Brita just decided to get a little greedy, and see how much more money they could make by changing that recommendation...

I noticed that the Brita cartridges did not take out a lot of color from the water I put in. Later I found out that it was rated Class 5 on NSF's scale - by looking up the NSF site, Class 5 means 85% reduction of particles between 30 to 50 microns. The scale is a 6-step scale with Class 1 being the best. After checking with the Greater Vancouver Water District, our sediment particle size in the water averages 2.5 microns - No wonder the water coming through the cartridges is still yellowish brown in color!

The Brita pitcher makes good water. I've tried a number of filters from whole house to faucet--singly and in combination. If your experience is like mine, convenience is a major limiting factor and here's how convenient these replacements are:

1. Rip, cut or tear open the plastic envelope.

2. Drop the filter in a dish or glass of cold water and let soak for fifteen minutes.

3. Remove filter from the soak and rinse it off under cold water.

4. Drop the filter into the hole in the top part of your pitcher (it's notched on one side so it fits only one way).

Buy these in multi-packs; they're most economical that way. You're going to need to replace the filter every two months so you'll need six filters for a whole year's supply of water.

Are you going to enjoy filtered water?? You bet! Tastes good?? Yep! Can ANYONE do this?? Definitely! Does it add any sodium to your diet?? Nope! Low-carb diet friendly, too.

One word of caution...there are always little carbon particles floating in the top part of the pitcher where you do the filling. There they are inconsequential because they can't get down to the bottom. I have seen a small amount of fine particles down in the bottom of the pitcher; the only solution I've found is to dump them out when I see them. - Water Filters - Brita Filters - Brita Water Pitcher - Brita'

Travel Tripod - camera accessories, flip video

I read the other reviews and thought I would try it. It worked well when I needed to attach the camera onto a railing fine, but it was not that steady for standing up. Part of it may have been that my camera has the hole to attach it on the side of the bottom instead of the middle. It was inexpensive (cheap really) but I'm glad I got it as a wrap-around-holder for when I'm using it in a place that is not flat or wide enough for the camera to sit safely. I did like that it was small & portable. Digipower TP-S010 flexible and sturdy ultra compact Mini Tripod with pocket clip for easy portability

I take a lot of model railroad photos, and needed a tripod that could be bent to accommodate various "terrain" and scenery on a model railroad layout. Having seen various pictures of the Gorilla tripods being bent into all sorts of ridiculous positions, I thought I'd be getting something similar by purchasing this tripod. Not so. It is flexible and sturdy, but it's flexibility is limited. For example, the Gorilla tripods apparently can be bent into a shape that allows them to be hooked over the edge of a tabletop. The Digipower tripod won't do that. Also, bending the legs leaves little black flecks of paint all over your hands.

This mini tripod will do the job it was intended for, it's flexible enough for my picture-taking needs. It's hard to get the camera level since there is no flexible head to adjust on top. And if you try and attach a camera that has the tripod fitting on the side, it will definitely tip over. I learned that the hard way with a previous tripod I purchased - and eventually misplaced. This one is for for light-weight plastic, ultra-compact cameras. Don't try and put a heavier camera on it no matter what location the fitting is on the camera, center or off-side.

But my main complaint with this tripod is the strong odor it emits. I have smelled this odor before - it's some type of chemical odor from whatever they use in China to make plastics or paint. The smell is the same. Currently I have this outside hoping the scent will dissipate. When it arrived in the mail, I put it in a drawer in my bedroom where I store my cameras, the smell of it quickly overtook the room. I tried washing it to no avail, maybe I'm just super sensitive to scents but in case you are also, just a warning that it does stink.

Edited to Add: It's been 3 weeks and the tripod still stinks!

Great tripod for any quick situation. Screw it on the bottom of your point and shoot camera and you can get a great picture without having to shimmy the angle with spare change and stuff. This product does the job very nicely and the price is right. Not for a large SLR camera but great for any point and shoot camera for those hard to prop up situations.

As someone pointed out this is not a Gorillapod, but it's more versatile than a rigid mini-tripod. It's surprisingly solid and the legs have grippy rubber balls for feet. The ordinary screw is fixed to the body.

To give you an idea of the size, it's roughly 12 cm (4-3/4") long closed. The legs can bend out about 7 cm (2-3/4") away from the center. This will give you a small base, so if you want to set any camera heavier than a point-and-shoot at high angles you'll need to improvise to keep it from tipping over. I wouldn't use it with anything bigger than a handheld miniDV.

I bought this mini tripod to do timelapse recording with a larger jvc camcorder. To my suprise this tripod works like a JEM! It keeps my jvc camera stable when you strech the legs far apart for the extra stability. The camera stays stable and works well every time. The tripod also seems pretty durable and for the price, if it ever breaks It's cheap enough to buy a few replacements which I doubt I will have to do. It is also small enough to fit right in the camera case without damaging anything else in the case. This tripod is a great idea and is a must for anyone who has a camera and camcorder!

I use this with my Canon T2i DSLR and 50mm lens, it's sturdy enough. It works even better with lighter point and shoots.

It won't hold the T2i with the 55-250 telephoto, it's way to heavy and unbalanced, but that's ok, I wasn't expecting it to. only problem with mine is that one of the legs is less sturdy than the others, but it still works fine for what it was designed for. it's extremely small and will fit virtually anywhere. - Flip Video - Camera Accessories - Travel Tripod - Flexible'

Milwaukee - milwaukee, bandsaw

This band saw is quite a bit smaller than the other 4.5 inch milwaukee deep cut band saw. After using the large one for a while I realize that I did not often cut that large of material. So the smaller and lighter band saw is perfect most of the time. And being corded it is much cheaper to buy than any other battery operated saw. Milwaukee 6242-6 Compact Band Saw Kit

Before this compact band saw became available, I had purchased a Milwaukee 6232-6N portable band saw. The big band saw is awkward and heavy for me to use. The compact band saw is much lighter, much more maneuverable, it is my go to band saw. I actually look for projects where I can use it. I am a retired carpenter, and am now a tool collector. Most of my power tools are Milwaukee, followed by Makita and Bosch. Once again, Milwaukee has made an incredible product, just like their Hole Hawgs and Sawzalls.

I bought this from Orchard Supply on sale, and wish I had discovered it years ago.

It's so much easier than hacksawing through pipes etc.

It's light weight and easy to use.

In my shop, I often clamp the handle in my swiveling vise and treat it like a little shop bandsaw, with the blade vertical. I'd like a table it would work with.

The main limitation is the maximum cutting size, which is not quite enough for handling nominal 4 inch lumber.

Parts are inexpensive and readily available (I bought some extra guide bearings, thinking I might make my own guide to allow its use for doing some ripping cuts, as opposed to the cross cuts it is intended for.

I love this portable bandsaw, but when I tried to used it with my Xantrex 1500 power box it did not work. I can use a dewalt or milwaukee fullsize bandsaw with a scissor lift to cut conduit and steel pipe from the ceiling of industrial plants after removing machinary. I hoped to use this bansaw, because it weighs less their is less fatigue. But it doesn't work with my power box. I guess it is the electronic switch. - Bandsaw - Milwaukee - Band Saw'

2009 Amazon Frustration-fre - bosch wiper blades, razor blade

I like rain-x. I figured they'd make good blades too. Easy to install (for a first-timer), works well. Inexpensive at Amazon. What else could you want to know? Installed 2 on my '06 Mariner hybrid and bought spares for my wife's '03 Odyssey. Rain-X Weatherbeater Wiper Blade - 18"

I replaced both windshield and the rear window wipers on my car. In the last week we've had more rain in Phoenix than all of last year total and the wipers have performed perfectly. I also took a trip up to Flagstaff in a snow storm and the blades did well in that environment as well. These wipers are excellent and I will buy them for our other vehicle as well.

I have installed these in both sides of my Mazda 3. The passenger side (18 inches long) came off on it's own. Fortunately it was on a local street and not highway speed. I found that the clip wasn't enough to hold the wiper in place, as a result the wiper can be uninstalled even without lifting the arm!! I bought Bosch 40918 Excel Micro Edge Wiper Blade - 18" as a replacement on both of my wipers and they are impossible to come lose once the wiper arms are set, they are also priced quite competitively for a name brand.

Stay away from these at all cost!!

do NOT buy from amazon. do NOT buy from seller U.S.S. Autoparts.

this wiper did not fit my car as the page stated it would. i contacted both amazon and the seller for a refund process. both stated to contact the other and gave me the run around and then ultimately offered a ludicrous refund "promo" return price.

Chargers - lithium, cordless

Having purchased both the M12 drill and Hackzall kits, I've had 3 of these chargers in my posession. Only 1 worked perfectly out of the package. The first charger (with the drill kit), thought both battery packs were defective. Amazon sent me a new kit - with it's charger, all battery packs charged fine. Wanting more batteries and another charger, I ordered the Hackzall kit. Inserting the first battery to charge again lit the faulty pack lights. Looking into the charging well, one of the extra 3 sensor contacts was bent down flat on the bottom of the well. Bending it back got the charger working. While it's great that it was a simple problem, a factory fresh charger should not have a problem with functioning.

When I took the charger with the bent contact apart (T10 security bit), the inside of the charger seemed well designed. The case seems to be made of polycarbonate and the circuit boards are the high quality glass variety. There is no potting compound over the circuit parts like in the V18/28 chargers though. Also, the plug on the M12 charger is not a pass through like on the V18/28 chargers.

If Milwaukee sorts out the bugs and sends you a working charger, it's probably a 5 star device (it even has slots on the back for wall mounting!). Milwaukee 48-59-2401 12-Volt Lithium-ion Battery Charger

I bought the 2401-20 driver drill. Nice, convenient tool. It came with this charger. Unfortunately the charger died (similar symptoms as another reviewer here). What really frustrated me was the warranty service. I called my local serivce center and they asked me to produce the receipt. Remember that this product has a 5-year warranty, and has been in the market for <1 year. I'm basically S*O*L unless I can produce the receipt. Very un-impressive for a company that used to produce the most rugged tools on a jobsite.

I bought this charger along with a new battery. Charges up the battery real fast, but the original battery I had, this charger shorted it out or something. Never could use it again after I one time put my original battery on. The battery I bought along with this still works great and charges up fine. Not sure what the problem was, but giving you heads up.

Two years ago I purchased the M12 driver kit for light home use. A few weeks back the charger failed (Red and Green lights blinking). But the batteries test OK. The charger reads 14 volts and then drops to 0 within 20 seconds. I ordered a replacement from Amazon. That one proved to be defective. They replaced it. Again, that one was also defective. Then I had a local service center return it to Milwaukee. Then that replacement was also defective. Now I wait for my fifth charger. In the future I'll be rather reluctant to buy a Milwaukee tool. However, I am not disappointed with Amazon's service. - Chargers - Cordless - Lithium - Cordless Tools'
