Replacement Blades - norelco, philips norelco

After 20+ years with my original Norelco, it finally broke. I was looking for a simple razor without too many bells and whistles. This is a simple design, does a great job and it is relatively inexpensive. I don't care for rechargable razors simply because I don't like them sitting on my bathroom sink all the time, I prefer one I can put in a drawer when I'm not using it. Philips Norelco 6940 Reflex Action Men's Shaving System

I like this shaver because it does just what I need it to do. I get a close shave with little fuss - not quite as close as a blade can give, but with absolutely no risk of a cut - and at about $44 it's much less expensive than almost all the other Philips Norelco shavers.

It's not rechargeable, so you have to plug it in every time you shave, and the cord isn't very long or flexible, so sometimes it will pull out of the shaver, interrupting the shave. Just reinsert it and carry on.

Since it doesn't run on a rechargeable battery the motor never slows down due to declining battery power, and you don't have to leave it plugged in to charge it up. My guess is that it uses less electricity overall than a rechargeable. Of course you have to have access to AC power to run it, but that's only a problem if you want to take it with you on camping trips - not a good idea anyway.

As most other Norelco razors are using batteries, this is one of only 2 models left that will work when the batteries die. Also, the HQ55 blades are every bit the equal of the HQ8 and HQ9; I have both and the only difference is that the newer versions are a little faster.

Norelco has very little info on this model; be aware that they will tell you that it uses the newer style power cord with the external transformer and that is not the case. It uses the old fashioned plain coiled cord.

Have had the Norelco for over a month now. Works fine. Probably not the best razor out there but a great value for the price. It does what it is supposed to and I have had no problems with it thus far. When I first turned it on, I was surprised at how quiet it is. I thought it was not working or something but as I said before, it does its job quite well. I would buy another one.

I looked around for a basic inexpensive razor. I realized that I hardly ever used my shaver on batteries so why pay for that feature. I figure I can buy a new razor every couple of years at this price rather than new cutting heads for for $30-35. For the price I am happy. The shaver has enough power and I did not expect the smoothness of a $100 shaver. The shaver seems sturdy enough. The shaver met my expectations.

Bought the product from Amazon.com seeing all the reviews about the product and since it was on sale and I got for a good price....

It is essentially a very basic model of the Norelco family of triple rotary shavers. Has no rechargeable battery and works while plugged in.

The first few shaves irritated as this was my first electric razor. However, in spite of continuous usage for 3 weeks, as recommended in the manual, I did not get a smooth/close and irritation free shave. In addition one of the blades started getting hot and the shave was not close enough. I contacted Philips and their excellent customer care people sent me a replacement blades within 2 days and after replacing the new blades I get a pretty close/smooth shave although the irritation of my skin is yet to disappear completely.....

Overall a decent product to start off with electric shaving.

This is my fourth Norelco razor. My last one was cordless. I replaced the battery roughly nine months ago. The battery is going bad again. With Norelco rotary razors, if the heads do not spin fast enough, you do not get a good shave. I was thrilled to be able to buy a corded razor. No batteries and no worrying about recharging and no worries about batteries going bad. This is a good no frills electric razor that will give most people a close comfortable shave.

Really like this shaver. Of course the reason it is so cheap is because it was not designed with a battery. It runs off an outlet. But when I was getting it, it occured to me that I never shave anywhere where there isn't an outlet anyway! And the lack of a battery gives several advantages too.

No battery to die on you, which is awesome.

(I have a different Norelco model with a battery that's not great. It shaves well but theres no battery meter of any kind, and if you're about to leave the house and you're shaving last minute and the battery dies (we've all been there before) then you're just screwed. Because that shaver, if the battery dies, will not work EVEN WHEN PLUGGED IN. You have to just wait until it's charged, to use it, which could be hours. Crappy designing on Norelco's part there. They should have made all shavers able to run on the power from the outlet while plugged in)

But this shaver is great, no battery to die or go bad over time.

And it's also more than powerful enough, because it uses power straight from the wall.

It's also very light, because of the lack of a battery.

Shaves well too, on par with other Norelco shavers that cost twice as much. Pretty close shave, comfortable, etc.

I like this shaver a lot. If you do not specifically need a shaver with a battery, get this. - Mens - Razor - Norelco - Philips Norelco'

Ipad Accessory - ipad leather case, case

I had originally bought the black case from Apple, for significantly more. I was not too impressed with it.

I bought this one because it was leather, it seemed to be protective, it has a place for business cards, which is great.

The only thing I think it lacks, and the reason for my not 'perfect' rating is, it would be great for a pen or stylus holder. I use my ipad in meetings and need a stylus. I currently just 'hook/clip' it inside, but a actually place for it would be perfect.

Also, sometimes in meetings I get handouts and writing on them is great. So carrying a pen/stylus separate can be a pain. I'm being tad picky, but those are my thoughts. NEW! PINK! Protective Leather iPad Case with Snap Flap for Security and Ease of Use. BUILT IN KICKSTAND great for Movie Watching and Book Reading!!

The price was right, the color was perfect and it arrived promptly. I really like it. The flap makes a great stand. However, it took me a time or two to realize that the side with the black ridges should be flat on the table/lap so the stand will fit nicely into the black ridges. The first few times I tried to get it to stand I had it upside down. Silly me. The iPad fits neatly into the case, Snaps shut and the Stylus pen fits perfectly into the fold when the case is closed.

This is pretty Ipad case but it is not convenient. The Ipad slips around when you use it, the kickstand is weak and doesn't hold up after a few uses is cumbersome when you leave your Ipad plugged in charging and try to use it with this case. Don't recommend if you use your Ipad often.

I like this item because it protects the back and sides of my iPad from scratching and it's perfect for reading e books. The only bad thing that I've found is the fact that if you're carrying the iPad with the cover opened, the iPad can slip out of the top. I wish it was more secure because if I pick up my iPad wrong it slips out and I have to catch it or it will fall to the ground. It's a minor irritation that could prove to cause damage to your iPad if not caught in time. Thanks

This Ipad case is a pretty shade of pink but that is this best thing about it. It does not work as dispalyed in the pictures, it is not sturdy and does not stand up correctly. It falls and does not hold up vertically at all! Dont buy if your planning to use it for the kickstand and its also not real leather

It's really cute and functional. It's not luxurious leather or anything but what can you expect for this price. Pretty great deal, the kids like the crazy bright color. good for family use, definitely not for work.

I ordered this along with a few others to try and find the perfect cover for my Ipad 2. This arrived quickly but I am not that happy with it. I knew it was not leather but the material looks way to much like cheap vinyl. I went for the pink color but it is much too bright. There is no closure at the top so when the case is open the Ipad can fall out if you happen to pick it up the wrong way. The kickstand doesn't work well at all. It's gonna cost me too much to return it so I'll keep it as a back up for the inexpensive price. Alas I am still on the hunt for the perfect pink case. Don't be fooled by the price. You get what you pay for.

Really like this case..a friend had it in black and I liked hers and since my Ipad2 is white..I wanted one with more color !! I think for the price it is well worth it, others are more pricey and are of the same quality, so save yourself some money and buy this one !! - Case - Leather Case - Ipad Leather Case - Apple Ipad'

Ipod Video Cable - ipod accessories, ipod cable

This cable works with the new iPhones and iPods, even after the OS 3.0 upgrade that required cables to have the apple anti-piracy chip. This isn't a cheap knockoff, it is quality and it works. What I didn't realize was that I could not just show what is on my iPhone screen on my TV using this cable. The output is -only- enabled during video playback. If you want to put movies on your TV or video screen, this is for you. If you hoped to put your games and apps up on the big screen for others to see, the Apple devices simply don't support that. No flaw in the cable, but I wanted you to understand the issue before you bought it. Scosche IPAV SneakPEAK Audio/Video Cable for iPad,iPod and iPhone - Synchronization Software - Retail Packaging - Black

I had previously bought a no-name non-licensed super cheap A/V for my 1st gen iPod Touch, it worked great (just like this one), but after upgrading the OS to 3.0 it stopped working ("This accessory not supported by this iPod" error). That's the lesson I learned from buying non-licensed Apple accessories (fortunately it was a cheap lesson).

Committed to not paying the outrageous sum of 50 dollars for the Apple av cable (since I knew they could make them for less than $5), I started to look for the cheapest licensed cable. The Scosche fit the bill for about half of the Apple cable (although a lot more than the generic and without the charging feature of either). A compromise... yes, but I really like to be able to share photos and videos when on the road, and the ability to watch movies on the TV is nice too.

With the iPod touch and this cable, you can: play movies, video podcasts, and photo slideshows.

You can NOT with this and the iPod touch: display the current screen (I don't think any do), pick a single photo from the gallery (you need to start the show and go next... next... next... until you get there) and you can't play plain music (you could get a headphone to RCA adapter cheap though if that's what you wanted to do).

I've since upgraded again to 3.1.1 and it still works. Overall I'd give it a 4 1/2 stars because I wish it would let me do the other things and was a bit cheaper, but it does the most important things well and is cheaper than most of the alternatives.

UPDATE 08/2010

-------------------------------------

For what it's worth, the cable is still working great on the iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch with iOS 4.x, so compatibility shouldn't be a problem.

If you own any iPod capable of playing video, or an iPhone, and you've always wished you could somehow play a video on a television or display, you'll want to read about Scosche's "showTIME."

I've owned an iPod Touch 2G for about three months and it really has become my favorite piece of electronics gear. Watching a movie is fine, especially on a plane or in a car (not while driving), but when you are in a hotel room, or visiting Aunt Martha, it would be great to display pictures or a movie from the iPod on the big screen. Scosche's "showTIME" cable (ST) will allow you to do just that.

The "showTIME" cable is simply a cable with an iPOD connector on one end and composite video jacks on the other end. To use the ST cable you plug one end into your video iPod, or iPhone, and plug the three connectors on the other end into their color corresponding jacks on a television. Most modern televisions have composite inputs that are color coded red, white, and yellow.

The ST cable itself is six feet long (1.828 meters) and is constructed with tapered metal composite (RCA A/V input) connectors that have colored bands around them which make it easy to match the correct connector to the television port.

The Scosche "showTIME" requires no software. When connected to a television it will play any movies or iPhoto pictures you have on your connected device, and if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch it will even play YouTube videos. The quality is very good on a 27" tube television screen; mileage may vary on large screen TVs.

The "showTIME" worked flawlessly during my testing with an iPod Touch 2G, iPod Classic, and even an iPod nano 3G. In addition, the ST works with the latest nano and the iPod with video (5G).

The cable is very easy to use and works exactly as advertised, and worked very well at that.

MyMac Rating: 5 out of 5

Buyer Beware ! ! !

I purchased this product because the advertisement describes functionality for iPod Touch (Gen3 & 4) and I wanted a cheaper solution to my Apple cables. This unit DOES NOT WORK & IS NOT COMPATIBLE with iPod Touch 3rd Generation or even the newer 4th Generation (iOS 4.2.1 - both units)! I tried each 3rd & 4th Gens on 6 different devises (2 Led HDTVs, 2 SDTVs, & 2 LCD Projectors) and none showed video (audio only). The site description misleads you into thinking it does work, but the actual packaging tells another story!!!

And before anyone tries to rebut; YES video out was on... on both units ! ! ! Both units work flawlessly with the Apple AV Cables; just wanted a cheaper comparable product for the two newer iPods bought for Christmas. I was also looking for smoother composite plug-ins (ones I don't have to force into the outlets). - Cable - Ipod - Ipod Cable - Ipod Accessories'

Lithium-ion - google, extra

The battery that ships is a Cameron Sino CS-HDE200SL. The photo clearly indicates that the battery is a 1400mAh (the same as the original stock Nexus One battery), however the product that ships is only 1200mAh. If I had known, I would have never purchased this battery. It took 2 weeks to ship to Canada. Deceiving/Borderline false advertising in my opinion. Standard Li-Ion Battery for HTC NEXUS ONE (Google)

Don't buy this battery. I think they found fake OEM stickers to wrap around this battery. Doesn't seem to be the same size battery. Nexus 1 = 1400 mAH battery This one = who know or cares, doesn't work properly.

And what I mean by not working properly is every time you take a picture with flash the phone freezes. Leaving you unable to reset unless you take the battery. I also notice irregular talk time and overall use for the battery life.

Anyways don't buy this battery. The "For Nexus One" fooled me. Buy the actual HTC battery and spend the extra couple of dollars.

This battery is a great option for those in need of a spare battery but it is in NO-way a replacement for the original HTC battery.

Everything worked great untilo I tried to take a photo and the camera flash powered up. It instantly caused the phone to reboot. This has been tried on two different Google Nexus One phones with the same result.

So if you just need a spare battery for calls and surfing the web, choose this battery. But if your a heavy photo user that needs the flash, I would recommend you find an alternate battery.

I was a bit skeptical about buying an aftermarket battery for my Nexus One, but this product simply works. I was travelling to Europe and knew I was going to need an extra battery. I found this one and based on the price was a little concerned that it wasn't going to work, but it worked out perfectly and now I have a solid backup while home in the States. Highly recommended.

I'm really happy with this battery because it lasts all day long with normal use and I can easily get a day and a half out of light use. Plus the price is more than reasonable compared to other batteries on the market. It does exactly what it said it would, with fast delivery, and at a great price. Yaaa!!!

Just over a month after purchase, the thing already won't hold a charge. Enough time on the charger to run a normal battery for hours will run this battery for only 4-5 minutes. This was not the case initially - at first, it worked great. In the month that it worked as expected, it ran through maybe a dozen, dozen and a half charge/discharge cycles (I have another fully functional batteries, and I switched them out regularly).

You get what you pay for with this one. I just hope at this point that I can save someone else from blowing their money on a battery that won't last.

Got a battery tagged 1400mah. Works great, lasts as long as factory battery when was new. Highly recommend, I'm actually commenting as I'm ordering another for a spare to carry in my wallet. Came on time within 24-48hrs after ordering

So far so good with the battery. I have the same problem as everyone else when is comes to taking pictures but, who cares? I'm only planning to text call and surf the web with it. If I need to take pics I have the original. It's better than carrying a charger with you at all times, plus no guarantee you find a socket. - Nexus One - Extra - Nexus - Google'

Portable Cassette Player - walkman, cassette player portable

This is the same item as the FX-290, now with a W added. Only difference is the absence of the TV audio band, which will be irrelevent next February. I ve had three of these walkmans in the past couple of years. One shattered upon impact to the ground. I didn't have the case on it, and with the other two the fast forward button, which I use quite a bit fell off.

That being said, this is probably the greatest walkman I ve owned. The radio cassette player is a dying breed and I m glad to see Sony put out a new version of an old favorite. With 35 hours on one AA battery, this is one of the great values. I still have hundreds of cassette tapes that I have taped from XM the last couple of years, and I still take my walks listening to those. Transferring to a CD is an option, but its too much of a bother. With the belt clip its so easy to just walk listening to a cassette, even though the sound quality is not as good as a CD,but it fits my purposes fine.

With AM and FM and all the presets, and a weather band this is a nice value for $30 and free shipping. I m glad I still have my other two units without the fast forward button. This is becoming a relic, and I want to make sure I have this walkman for some time to come. No MP3 for me. I m satisfied with this unit. Sony Walkman Digital Tuning Weather FM/AM Stereo Cassette Player (Silver)

My first prerecorded cassette was ELO's first album--that's how long I've been listening to them! We all know the day of cassette recording or playing is long gone; even CD's are considered done in this day of MP3's. However, that doesn't negate the millions, maybe billions, of cassettes that have been sold over the past 30+ years. Cassettes have their faults, but there are so many productions out there that aren't available on any other medium.

I've owned cassette players running $300 'way back in the 80's; these are gone also. The challenge now is to find a portable Walkman-type player that doesn't sound like crap, and that's last longer than a week or so. I came across a number of books on audio cassette at home and wanted to do a re-listen. Only a couple have been converted to CD.

I initially purchased a 'Craig' model for less than $20; it's also sold as a Jensen, a Coby, and various other names on Amazon. It was a piece of crap; see my review under the Coby name. Virtually useless radio because of tuner problems, and a cassette function that ran at whatever speed it felt like. Needless to say, an adventure for the book listener and worthless for music listening.

I came across this very inexpensive Walkman and didn't expect much for the $30 price. Have I been surprised! Now, the photo shown at the top isn't my model, as it has a TV band on it that mine doesn't have. Mine has AM/FM/Weather/cassette. It appears identical to the one shown.

Unlike virtually ever other cassette player I've owned, this one only uses 1 'AA' battery--not 'AAA' as other reviewers have stated. The great thing about this is that not only are 'AA' batteries ordinarily cheaper, but they last longer, too. I expected the battery life to be shorter as the result of only one battery, but I was wrong. Sony states they are using some new technology to extend battery life, and it's true. A decent 'AA' will last around 35-40 hours, and when running on cassette, around 30 hours. This will vary, of course, according to the quality of battery purchased.

Unlike the Coby/Jensen/Craig derivative, this machine uses digital tuning with an LCD readout. The tuner has functioned with complete band accuracy; none of that playing with a stiff little wheel trying to find the best signal. As stated in the item description, there are 33 presets for the radio. I live outside Houston and can't imagine needing 33 stations to store, but I guess it's good for someone. Additionally, the procedure for storing and revising stored stations seems unnecessarily complicated. Probably not for the younger, computer generation, but it does require a lot of steps. I will certainly be retaining the instructions! Actually, it seems equally easy just to set the thing on 'manual' and use the rocker switch to find stations. Regardless, through the included headsets, the sound is equal to those players I've had in the past costing 10 times as much.

The tape loads through the back, not visible on the photo above. It is a dark smoked plastic cover that flips open with a fingernail. The cover contains two little tabs that hold the cassette, then the cover and cassette flip closed to contact the tape heads. Again, much, much less fiddly than the Coby version.

Another advantage for this Walkman over some competitors is that it contains a 'rewind' button. Many players, compact and otherwise, have deleted it over the years. If one is listening to a book or music and needs to re-listen, those units require taking the tape out, flipping it, using the 'fast-forward' button, then reversing the procedure. The convenience of a 'rewind' button can't be overestimated.

I don't think there's any Dolby noise reduction on this machine, but I never liked using it anyway. I prefer a little hiss to the muddy sound of Dolby-B.

The tape mechanism has worked perfectly for me on a bunch of different cassettes, both well-used and new. Some players get touchy with used cassettes, and are weak with the power required. I have no doubt this Sony will weaken with age, but for now works great.

Headsets are an individual choice; I prefer earbuds. However, the included headsets give a fine sound, especially for their price.

One practical benefit of this machine is that there is an LCD battery life indicator included. For those of us who do a lot of listening it saves being stranded.

No doubt the market for these players will continue to contract. I'm thinking of buying another example of this little Walkman because I do have thousands of cassettes I still enjoy. Highly recommended for those shopping. - Walkman - Cassette Player - Sony Walkman - Cassette Player Portable'

Deus Ex

I played the original Deus Ex on my Mac desktop for a long long time. It is a remarkable game which rewards alternative approaches. The Mac became really obsolete and was replaced by a G5 with OS 10, not compatible with the game. I played the sequel several times on my wife's Windows laptop. In some ways it was more ambitious than Deus Ex, but most gamers regarded it as a disappointment. The DVD combines both games. There are some glitches and crashes, and some of the bugs still haven't been fixed but after a couple of years rest, it is very satisfying to revisit one of the great all time games. I am not sure I have enough disc capacity to launch the sequel but haven't got that far yet. What I have seen of the third release, technically a prequel, looks very promising and might be enough to get me to upgrade the wife's computer to Windows 7. For the price, this is a good deal. DEUS EX COMPLETE

I saw the release stuff for a new Edition of Deux EX and decided to play the original first. The best was that it came as Complete with both games released so far. I am playing it on an Intel Core i7 920 based System running 64 bit Vista Home Premium w/ ait Radeon HD4850 Video card and DX11. It is playing fine. The graphics are a bit dated and show it, but it doesn't really take away from the game itself. I have pretty much thrown the stealth stuff out the window when entering a base or whwerever other concentrations of bad guys exist. Seems to work better for me as by the time It reach my objective, I can then just walk out as I have pretty much eleiminated all the bad guys. The Sniper Rifle is a very good thing to have for this as well as the GEP gun for the Robotic Sentries, which are deadly. You start out at the Statue of Liberty and then move on to the Battery on the tip of Manhatten, From there you will go to Hell's Kitchen ( lower East Side ) and eventually to an airfield with a 747 to board and explore some. After that it is off to Hong Kong for further work, then back to Hell's Kitchen. From there you go the the Brooklyn Navy Yard and then on to Paris, France. This is as far as I have gotten so far and it has been fun. Like Fallout 3, it is hard to determine if it is RPG or Shooter, but I guess it is best described as a combo of both, with a strong emphasis on shooter. I think it will appeal to those who like RPGs like Fallout 3, as well as the FPS purists.

Here's a copy of the last letter I sent to Mastertronic: "Nope. Made no difference. The DVD is not detected. The installation failed every time I ran it, with a general protection fault, leaving some services running. I thought I had completed the installation satisfactorily, but I may not have. That is an alternative explanation to the idea that the DVD is being rejected.I would try to reinstall with UAC off also, but there's some obscure registry key I didn't find that's telling the installer that Deus Ex is already installed. If you can tell me the keys involved, I'm willing to try to reinstall this product.I will work with you to get this working, as long as you have constructive-sounding ideas to offer.I've had so many problems that I really think Mastertronic is obligated either to publish a reliable guide to installing Deus Ex under Win7, and possibly Vista as well, or else withdraw the claim that the product runs under one or possibly both of these operating systems. I am placing a caution in the user reviews for this product at Amazon, and will withdraw it or reinforce it, depending on how my work with you guys goes."It's occurred to me that I didn't tell Mastertronic that I'm running the 64-bit version of Windows 7. I will do so. I would suggest that Win 7 users, 64-bit at least, not buy this product until we can see how to install it so that it runs well.

I ordered this game and I installed it on my Windows 7 64 bit P.C.

Well, here are the results & warning:

Deus Ex installed fine.

Deus Ex Invisible War installed fine.

Problem:

Due to my newer P.C. both games ran VERY fast and was told be a friend to "Set Affinity to 1 core."

Well, When trying to Set Affinity to 1 core on my Quad Core 2 CPU, my task manager caused Deus Ex to crash.

I don't think this "Complete" version was meant to run on Windows 64 bit platforms,

but the description says that it will run on Windows 7 in the amazon.com blurb.

Be Forewarned: It might run on 32 bit Win 7 platforms but not on my P.C.

It looks like this will take a LOT of time to Set Affinity to 1 core of my CPU.

Wish me the best as I wish you the best.

Now to try to install this beast!

One of the greatest games of all time. Never played it, just picked it up last month. It is absolutely fantastic. It really holds up today. If you can get past the graphical shortcomings, you'll experience a story, and game world, that is simply engrossing. PLAY THIS GAME! You are not a true video game fan if you don't. Diamond Blades

I am building a retaining wall and was going through the composite masonary blades . . . decided to go to the Home Depot for a diamond blade.$40.00+ Went on line and bought this blade on eBay. Works fantastic! It will cut cement blocks like they are butter. Neiko 7" Diamond Blade Wet / Dry Turbo for Circular, or Wet Tile Saw Tools

I needed a way to trim square concrete flagstone blocks for the edge of a patio, and was unwilling to spend $65 for a diamond saw for a few cuts. I saw this product and decided to risk the purchase price, and I can't tell you how delighted I am. The blade cut through the 3-inch concrete like it was pine. Of course the dust generated is another story. I highly recommend this product for your circular saw, but also recommend using a paint mask and cutting outside. :-))

I needed to cut down granite countertop for use in my work shop. Since this was a piece left over from a kitchen remodel, I didn't think I could justify the cost of a name brand blade. Perusing Amazon, I found this and another diamond blade from Coast-to-Coast. Given the price, I felt I could not go wrong and I didn't. The blade cut without a hitch! Perhaps not the best blades for long term use BUT, if you have a simple, one time job, these blades are highly recommended!

I poured a 24 x 32 concrete pad for a garage but my forms bowed out a bit. Buleprints called for the siding to overlap from the wall to the concrete by 1/2". Because my pad was up to 2.5 inches to wide in spots there was no way to do this and have the walls plumb. I had to cut the whole thing back to square. I was all set to go to the rental store and rent a big saw to do this but instead stopped by amazon first and the rest is history. Mounted this blade on an old beater circular saw and went to town. Blade performed way above my expectations and helped save my project! That was a lot of cutting for one blade and its still got life in it. You can cut along a straight edge or even carve with the side edge of the blade. As stated by someone else the mounting hole will probably need filed to fit on saw spindle, do not use a nice saw or it will get trashed, and wear a dust mask. Great Great Value!

You get what you pay for. But it got the job done.

I bought this diamond blade for my 7-1/4 inch circular saw to cut through some stucco for a door framing project. It was one of the least expensive circular diamond blades listed on amazon. I needed it for just that one job only and decided to go for it. The packaging did not make a good first impression - the plastic cover was mis-aligned with the cardboard backing. When I tried to make the blade fit on my circular saw, the mounting hole on the blade wouldn't fit on the circular saw. I got a bit aggravated because I had everything lined up to get the job completed that day and I got hung-up on the very first step. The hole on the blade looked to be the right size so I tried again. That's when I noticed that the mounting hole on the blade was a bit uneven. I used a rat-tail file to even out the edge of the mounting hole on the blade and that made the blade fit snugly on the circular saw.

Now for the good part. The blade cut through the stucco very smoothly. For safety, I made two passes to make the cut - raised the blade a bit for the first pass, and then lowered the blade for the second pass to cut all the way through the stucco. No snags, no kick-backs. Throws off a lot of dust, as expected, so use goggles and dust-mask. Made a sharp, crisp cut.

The saw blade was coarse and it ripped through the rocks that I was cutting with ease. The price was good and it was a good value. The only bad point was that it did leave chipped edges on surfaces which I cut.

Advert says wet/dry, but item packaging only refers to dry. I bought it for a tile cutting saw replacement, but it is not really suitable for this. More of an industrial use for cutting such things as concrete blocks dry.'

Motorola Droid Verizon - motorola, verizon

I've own many of the Verizon Wireless (VZW) smart phones including the Treo, Moto Q, XV6700, Saga, Omnia, Touch Pro, Blackberry Curve, Storm1, Tour, etc. I also owned the first Droid (D1) and thought at the time it was the best VZW phone I've ever owned. Well, Droid X (DX) has changed all of that. The DX is now my favorite phone of all time. But is it actually "better" than the D1?!?!?!? Check out my review.

PROS

- The DX's X-tra large screen is beautiful. The touch interface is very responsive. I feels like a powerful computer in your pocket.

- DX is big but I don't think it's too big. I could actually "do" a 5 inch phone if VZW ever sold one. I use the DX one handed but I have big hands. ;-) YMMV, however.

- The screen size also makes typing on the screen easier. I usually hate virtual keyboards but I like this one.

- Web browsing on the big screen is a great experience. I can see myself not using my iPad as much now (I would take it along to the barber, doctor's office, etc.). When the DX gets Flash support, the iPad might be going to eBay. :)

- HD Video recording capability is super great.

- I actually like the new version of Moto Blur. The re-sizable widgets are cool. Plus you can remove anything you don't want to use. I guess this wasn't the case with the original Moto Blur. They just need to add a "close" button (or swipe to close) to the widgets so I don't have to reach down for the back button.

- Battery life seems pretty good, much better than the Incredible.

- FM Radio is actually pretty good.

- DLNA support will allow you to browse media stored on your computers, wirelessly.

- The DX is V Cast compatible.

- The DX has all of the standard Android functionality including the best, free voice activated GPS known to man. Need directions to "123 Main Street"? Simply press the search button and say, "Navigate to 123 Main Street". Want to know where the closest Pizza place is? Say, "Map of Pizza". Google voice navigation is unbelievably good.

- The DX includes full Microsoft Exchange support. I'm not sure if it includes remote wipe or other security features that were missing from the initial D1 release.

CONS

- I usually prefer physical buttons but the ones on the DX aren't that great. They feel cheap. Plus they are all the same height so you can't easily press the button you want without looking at the device. This takes away one of the biggest advantages of having buttons.

- Like many smart phones these days, DX doesn't have Send or End buttons. I don't understand why companies make PHONES that don't include buttons for starting and ending a PHONE call!

- Unlike D1, the DX power button is in the middle-top of the phone. This probably helps out the lefties (the D1 power button is on the top-right). However, I don't like the extra reach for the power button. I'm already reaching over a much larger device.

- Motorola has locked/encrypted the boot loader on the DX. Thus, it will be harder or impossible for third party developers to create custom roms for the DX. I think this is a mistake. Custom roms is one of the biggest reasons why the D1 was so popular. The d1 put Android on the map.

- "Free" wifi tether is not available at this time but hopefully soon.

- The syncing software that comes with DX is nothing to write home about. Syncing music, photos, and video to Android phones still remain a hassle. Google needs to develop something like iTunes ASAP. I read that they are working on a music service though...

- I find it hard to put the DX in its desktop doc.

- Haven't tried the camera much yet...

VS BLACKBERRY

I read that the growth of Android is more likely to hurt Blackberry (BB) than iPhone and I believe it. I tried many phones and always went back to the BB for it's reliable and efficient email experience. The keyboard, trackball, shortcuts, sleep case and more kept me very productive. Unfortunately, some of the BB advantages like push email, MS Exchange integration, unlimited messaging, etc. are now available on other platforms. Add to that, the BB doesn't have many of the nice features or apps offered on other platforms.

If 90% of what you do is send email and text messages, the BB is for you. Other than that, I can't really recommend a 5.0 BB device anymore. Hopefully BB OS 6 and the new web kit browser will change that.

VS INCREDIBLE

The INC has a nice screen but it's hard to see in day light. The INC also has incredibly bad battery life lol, possibly due to questionable signal strength. I have to laugh when I read about people disabling stuff on their INCs just to get the battery to last a day.

VS IPHONE

I think the DX is one of the best alternatives to the iPhone, if not the best. However, the advantage the iPhone has over the DX is really about the OS advantage. iOS offers better apps, better developer support, better integration with the desktop, and better overall user experience. The fact that Google leaves android owners to fend for themselves to sync data from the desktop is an epic fail. Sure, I can troll web forums, try several Market downloads, and get something to partially work. iPhone users don't have to do that. Within 10 minutes of getting their new phone home, iPhone owners can sync music, video, apps, photos, files, video podcasts, video rentals, files, etc. to their phone.

Also, custom roms are nice (DX doesn't even have this yet) but I don't think most consumers care about that. Flash might be a big differentiator but for all we know, Apple may soon allow flash to run on iPhone 4.

Until Google offers better desktop integration, the iPhone will maintain a significant advantage over Android phones.

VS DROID 1

This is a tough one... For me, it really comes down to how much you value the bigger screen over custom roms and/or having a keyboard. Some people may be interested in the DX's HD video recording as well. I can't say which is better because it comes down to what features are most important to you. I have to lean toward the DX being "better" at this point. The bigger screen and faster processor makes it better than the stock D1. If you hack the D1, all bets are off. However, if the DX gets custom roms, overclocking, etc., I think it will become the clear winner, at least until Droid 2 comes out. :-)

BOTTOM LINE

I think the Droid X is best stock VZW phone available. Its big screen makes it really a computer in your pocket. The HD video recording capability is great. DLNA support is great. I didn't even know an FM radio was included- nice! Battery life so far has been really good, especially considering its big screen. The DX offers just about anything you need in a phone sans the front facing camera. This one device may replace a standalone mp3 player, gps, camera, camcorder, netbook, and possibly, an iPad. The Droid X simply does it all.

Is it the best Android phone on any carrier? I haven't used the EVO so I can't say which I would like more. VZW's voice network and customer service are better than Sprint's so the EVO loses in that respect. The Incredible was crippled with poor battery life so that's a no-contest. The only real, current competition is a hacked Droid 1, if you care about hacking your phone. I personally don't care about custom roms. For these reasons, I think the DX is the best Android phone to date. However, the current champ may lose its belt to one of the many great phones that are coming out soon. But at the end of the day, the real winner is the Consumer. There will be many great devices to pick from and that's always a good thing.

TIPS

- Hitting the home button twice brings up the voice dial app.

- For free USB or blue-tooth tethering to your laptop/netbook, try PDANet.

- You can tether to your iPad! You have to jailbreak the iPad and install the blue-tooth dial-up networking. Search one of the iPad forums for details. Motorola DROID X Android Phone (Verizon Wireless) - Motorola Droid - Verizon - Motorola - Android'

Usb Cable Extension - usb, usb cables

Considering how bad the iPhone's battery life is, I am surprised Apple gave such a small chord to charge it, since you'd need to use it while charging so much.

I got this to fix that issue. Now I have nice long charging chord for my iPhone USB 2.0 Extension Cable Type A Male to Type A Female 6 ft, Black

Got two of these about a year ago. They work great as long as you tie it into another line that isn't too long. I never had a single problem with these in the year I used them. I just need more of them as now I have more tech in my house.

Just as simple as it seems! Remember if you are trying to go quite a distance, your USB cable needs to be less than 15' total or else you risk losing signal. So a 15' cable with a 4' printer cable (for example) would ut you at 19' and it probably wont work correctly. Thanks!

It got the stars mainly due to price. It works, but you get what you pay for.

The fact that USB extension cords in general have given my workspace much more flexibility is wonderful perhaps needs to separated from this review. Next time will probably splurge a few bucks more for one with more consistent functionality.

I bought two. One for the keyboard, one for mouse. The one for the keyboard kept losing the connection despite double and triple checks that things were in fact connected. I would randomly hear the 'ding' you get when you unplug/plug something from the USB slots. It really puts a cramp in your writing style if your keyboard disconnects every few minutes. The disconnection glitch lasts a second, sometimes more. That I could tolerate on the mouse since I don't use it very often. So I selected the best of the two for my mouse and ended up putting the keyboard back on a direct connection. It's been a couple of months and maybe the cord has warmed up or something. I still get a rare, second long stop in function, but the connect/disconnect problem hasn't happened in for a few weeks.

I wish that I had learned about the great prices on cables like this through Amazon long ago. I kick myself for wasting so much money in the past by going to the local B*** B** store. That big electronics chain charges over $20 for cables like this, compared to less than $3 here. The cables got to me two days after I ordered them. Kudos to Amazon and to their partner, YourCableStore.

I bought this because my 70$ logitech VX mouse, which I love, was super laggy (almost to the point of being garbage) if it was not right up close to the dongle. for 3$, I bought this cable, thinking I'ld try one last time to salvage such a nice mouse. plug-n-play on Windows 7 x64, now my dongle is up on my desk and my mouse works perfectly. would highly recommend something like this for someone frustrated with the crappy wireless connection of an otherwise superbly designed mouse.

I bought 2 cables to extend from my CPU to 2 flash drives. My flash drives work great when plugged directly into the CPU or when plugged into more expensive cables I already have, but don't work when using these cables. One cable worked for a day, then quit. The other cable didn't work at all. Cmple promptly sent a replacement. The replacement worked once, then stopped working. Then Cmple promptly sent me a complete refund. Cmple was excellent to deal with, but the product was worthless.

The nice thing about this product was it was cheap, and got to me fast the bad is it is a slow connection. I have been using it in combination with a high speed hub and the two together run in slow motion. At some points this equipment will recognize my external drives and usb devices and other times it wont.

Spite the constant problems I give this product a 3/5 cause its your typical Chinese crap you can get cheap on amazon. - Usb Cables - Usb Cable Extension - Usb Cable - Usb'

Lens Filter - lens filter, hoya

Looking through it with the naked eye reveals no distortions or imperfections. This is a genuine multi-coated UV filter (test this by looking at a reflection of a light source on its surface: a perfect reflection indicates no coating, a dim reflection indicates a single coating, and a green reflection indicates multiple coatings). Multiple coatings yield greater light transmission through the glass, and less glare, but (and this affects all multi-coated filters from all companies) also pick up dust, fingerprints, and condensation very easily (just holding it on the metal ring with your fingers causes condensation from your perspiration). Hoya 58mm UV (Ultra Violet) Multi Coated Glass Filter

Great filter, good build, glass, multicoated, not overpriced. Everything a filter should be. I've bumped the edge of this filter against hard surfaces more than once and it has not bent the aluminum ring or damaged the lens it was attached to. Good product.

This item turned out to be the right quality and the right price for me (I bought two of them for two lenses). Research convinced me to buy a lens filter that had multi coating on it to go with the lenses that are multi coated. These had good reviews and a reasonable price, so I gave them a try. They showed up in good shape, went on easily, and are now doing exactly what they should be doing... protecting my camera without me noticing the difference.

I bought this item after seeing all the rave reviews for it and have to say I'm a bit disappointed. While the filter itself is fine when brand new, it scratches and smudges easier than most filters I've had at this price point (though it is also optically superior). I have no complaints about the smudges as they come off with some cleaning which is needed for any UV filter at some point, but the scratches render this product useless very quickly. I recommend the Hoya Super HMC Haze UV(0) series over this one in a heartbeat. I don't believe the Super series costs that much more (~$45 for a 67mm filter), and it is much more scratch resistant due to the excellent multi-coated glass.

First thing is first: In terms of optical clarity, this filter gets a 5/5. If you have a good lens, you are screwing yourself if you put a cheap, uncoated filter in front of it. So in that respect, this is a great product.

But secondly, I knew the multi-coated surface was delicate, but, DAMN! I made every effort I could to be careful with the filter from the second I removed it from the case. I took it out in my back yard for about twenty minutes to test out both the filter and my new lens. By the time I got back inside, the glass was fine, but there was a thin 'scratch' in the multi-coating that I could see when I held it up to the light. I don't even know what happened to it because I THOUGHT I was being extremely careful. I haven't noticed anything in my photos yet, but it bugs me that part of the filter isn't multi-coated now. I'm now scared to take my filter anywhere outdoors!

Bottom line: Great filter if you're going to use it under very well-controlled conditions. But if you ever expect ANYTHING solid to accidentally brush the front of your lens, try to consider another solution (maybe an uncoated filter)

I hope I read other reviews about multicoated UV filter much early. I use a normal ... UV Haze filter on my kit lens since the first day, 2 years ago! I can take some sharp pictures, but always feel a masking over the picture and have to use software to touch up. To attack glare I even bought a flower shaped hood. With this Hoya HMC zipped on, I can tell it's more clear through now. Adorama standard shipping is lightning fast. From placing order to getting the filters only took 4 days, including a weekend.

The Hoya Multi-coated filter does not get in the way of excellent photograhps. Cannot detect any reflections or extraneous light from the glass, I cannot detect any difference in image quality in photographs taken with and without the filter. I consider it to be a high quality filter at least for the photo enthusiast.

Be careful with this company. There are several types of HMC UV filters, HMC UV(O), HMC UV(N) and HMC UV(C). The company confused us with UV(O) on the page and UV(C) as item being reviewed. I planed to order HMC UV(O) but they sent me a HMC UV (N) instead. HMC UV(N) is much cheaper than HMC UV (O) due to the build quality.

The Hoya is affordable and seems to be very good quality

This was the most affordable "multi-coated" filter I could find to protect my lens. The next time you're in a camera shop, do a visual comparison between a single and multi-coated filter.

My order with Amazon shipped fast and arrived in perfect condition

Here's an intersting discussion "Do I need multi-coated filters vs mono-coated?"

Usb Hard Drive Adapter - ide adapter, sata

I bought this after an old laptop stop booting. I didn't want to buy an enclosure and this adapter was the best choice after I opened the old laptop to extract the hard drive. It was very easy to work with this USB adapter since it gives you a lot of connection choices, virtually to are able to connect any ATA or SATA drive through it, after open the package it took me couple of minutes to hook up to my other computer and start to recover my data. I highly recommend this not only to recover data but if you have a hard disk around now you can use it without to buy an enclosure. One more thing, this adapter works with Windows and Macs. SATA/PATA/IDE Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter Converter Cable for 2.5 / 3.5 / 5.25 Inch Hard Drive / Optical Drive with External AC Power Adapter

The price was great and the shipping was fast.

My only problem was that the device didn't come with instructions and I think that may have caused me to corrupt one of the harddrives by unplugging it before turning the computer off. I recommend finding some instructions online before using but the product was exactly as advertised and simple to connect.

I needed a way to connect a 2nd hard drive to a laptop that had operating system problems. This kit did the trick perfectly. I was able to format and load Windows on to a new hard drive and then connect my old hard drive to the USB port to copy my important files to the new one. Great product.

Had an elderly IDE drive (10GB). Plugged the data/usb adapter into the drive, plugged the power cable into the drive, plugged the brick into the wall (let the drive spin up), plugged the USB cable into my PC and 20 seconds later viola! There was the drive in XP.

Idiot proof.

Take your time. It's easy to bend IDE connector pins. Old lab trick: use the opening of a Pentel mechanical pencil to straighten them out if you got cocky.

Cheers.

Jim

I got this for transferring data from an older laptop ATA hard disk to my new laptop. It worked great. The power supply didn't have anywhere to attach for the small laptop drive but it worked well anyway on USB power only. I had already bought an enclosure previously, that didn't work, and this was the replacement. The data transfer is slow but that's not a problem for a use like mine. (dumping the old hard drives info onto my new computer)

No instructions were included with my order, but thanks to the helpful reviews for the cable package and the WD SATA hard drive I was able to successfully use these products to bring my son's PS3 back to life. The promised manual would have cut down on the installation time. I researched every part to make sure I was using it correctly. The enlarged photos of each on the Amazon product page helped a lot.

At first the power connector wouldn't work...frustrated I finally shoved and pushed really hard cramming it together and it finally connected. I could hear the drive making noise as it spun. However, Windows XP Professional 64 wouldn't recognize the drive..(My PC is new even though I'm using XP so not sure what the problem is)..I messed with it for an hour or so and then tried my daughter's pc which has Vista Basic and it worked perfectly!

Bought this to access old PATA drives that would no longer fit in my new PC. The drives booted up immediately (several different ones) and was able to copy all the essentials off just like downtown. Why pay more for crap you dont need? Its not built to last forever - but Jeez ! look at the price ! works just great for what I needed and now it goes into the drawer for the next time. - Pata - Usb - Ide Adapter - Sata'

Iphone Cable - usb cable extension, usb cable

I bought this cable to extend the length of a Wi-Fi dongle, so I could get internet in my Bedroom. Just what i wanted and needed, no lag, full-speed, really thick cable to prevent interference, and extremely long cable, plus you cant beat the price of $5.

The only problem i had was that one of the metal edges to the tip was bent, so i just got some pliers and put in back in place. Mediabridge - Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Extension Cable - A-Male to A-Female (10 Feet)

I purchased a web cam and purchased the cable thinking I would need a longer cable. I did not the cable that came with it was long enought. I just keep it might need it later. I purchased it because it said people that purchase the web cam got that cable, why I don't know I believe it is the same length.

Bought for use at home/office. I've got a midi keyboard that sits next to my desk, and none of my usb cables are long enough to reach from the keyboard to my laptop. I found a 6ft extension cable, used that, and then I used it for a printer at my office. bought this to replace it, works great. It'a decent cable, a lot cheaper here than at the store.

In general, this cable is a very good value and is serving me reasonably well as a USB extension for my iPad2, one that makes charging and syncing much more convenient. The construction quality of the cable itself is very good.

However, the connectors have been something of a problem for me. One connector was slightly misaligned and had to be bent back into shape when it arrived. This shouldn't be too much of a problem in the future unless I have to repeatedly connect and disconnect the cable, in which case I might need to keep correcting the alignment. The other connector fits a bit loosely into the USB port on my computer, and I occasionally have to jog it to get a proper connection.

If these problems show themselves to be corrected with time, then I will upgrade my rating to four or five stars. - Usb Cable - Usb - Usb Cables - Usb Cable Extension'

Sonicare Brush Heads - accessories, sonicare

My best friend has been raving about his Sonicare Elite for over a year now-- encouraging me to try it. I did a little research and saw that OralB had a similar product and wondered which had a better product-- Sonicare or Oral B. My friend finally convinced me that the Sonicare product is superior, and then I read a review on Amazon from a hygenist who said that she went to a continuing education seminar and learned that Oral B was found to be superior...

At that point, I decided to do some research. I found a Northwestern University study conducted over a 6 month period. Patients with the Sonicare did much better, but don't take my word for it. Read the study results for yourself on the National Institute of Health web site:

[...]

"Overall, this study demonstrates that long-term use of these two electric toothbrushes improves periodontal health in adult periodontitis patients, and that the Sonicare brush is superior to the Braun [Oral B] brush in reducing gingival inflammation and probing depth. Moreover, 6 months' use of Sonicare led to actual improvement in probing attachment levels of periodontal pockets."

Spend $22.50 a year and save $10,000? How does that work? Well, a couple of my close relatives have spent well over $10,000 each having their teeth and gums repaired. If you've had periodontal work or had root canal, implants, crowns or bridges done, you know that figure is not an exaggeration, and you're lucky if your insurance covers even a little bit of it. Having seen my relatives go through that, I've decided that as I get older, I want to spend my money on vacations and real estate, and not on painful dental procedures.

That's why the Sonicare is the most frugal product I've bought. I too have had some costly dental work, and I'm determined to keep my fixed-up choppers in tip-top condition. This toothbrush is amazing. One thing very few people note about the Sonicare is that it not only cleans your teeth beautifully, it also keeps your gums in great shape, and that may be even more valuable. Here's the best testimonial to the Sonicare: I recently had braces for a few years. I mentioned to my orthodontist that I'd graduated from high school in 1983, and she said, "You're not that old." "Yes, I'm 40," I said. She actually checked my chart! "Well, your teeth and gums look like they belong to someone in their 20s!" she concluded.

Please invest wisely and don't skimp on dental care. I've had other electric toothbrushes (Oral B) and tried every kind of tooth cleaning brush, powder, and gimmick you can imagine. This is the one I've used for the last 5 years (I used the earlier Sonicare model for about 5 years before that), and this is the one I'm sticking with. My annual checkups confirm I've been making the right choice.

Incidentally (inci "dental" ly?), Amazon's price on these heads is excellent -- much cheaper than my local pharmacies. A two-pack will last a year, since these heads wear out like clockwork at about 6 months. That works out to a little over $1.85 a month. Heck, you could spend that on regular toothbrushes!

Replacement heads ARE expensive, but compared to dental visits and cavity repairs they're a drop in the proverbial bucket. The first few times you use an electric brush with these heads your mouth will likely feel as if it's all a-buzz. Don't panic and don't give up. Keep using the brush and it'll pass in few short days. My dentist praises my teeth now that I've been using this system for several years. My gums and teeth are cleaner, brighter, and cavity-free.

Sonicare Elites are better than average electronic toothbrushes, but you should know what you're getting into before you buy a kit. Electronic toothbrushes use the the Gilette model: sell the shavers for cheap, get them on the razor blades. Inkjet printers also use this model. All marketing hype aside, the truth of the matter is the actual cost of the consumables should be a fraction of what you're paying. For example, it is technically possible to create an inkhead that refills like a gas tank, but the printer companies would tell you otherwise because such a design would cut into their fat margins. So instead of paying less for ink bottles in bulk, you (the consumer) have to pay up the wazoo for relatively little amounts of ink in proprietary plastic boxes.Same with Sonicare replacement brushes: instead of paying a couple bucks for just a new brush head with bristles (costing about the same as a new manual toothbrush), you have to pay $10 for a toothbrush head that comes in its own cartridge. There is really no good reason why the manufacturer didn't integrate the brush cartridge and neck into the handle itself so that you'd just have to replace the tip, but there is a good reason why they chose not to.Always know what your money is going towards before you shop -- your wallet will thank you for it.

For 40 years I have had periodontal problems (gums receding). Recently I had to have surgery for the problem. At the same time both my dentist and periodontist suggested that I use the Sonicare tooth brush. I did and that has made all the difference in the world. In my last two visits to the periodontist, both complimented how much improvement I had made with my gums. Both encouraged me to do whatever I have been doing-which was brush with the Sonicare brushes. I find for myself that the compact brush head allows me to better reach all parts of my mouth. - Sonicare - Accessories - Power Toothbrush - Oral Hygiene'
