Non-skipping Gel Pens - retractable, gel pen

I am a connoisseur of sorts in stationery, and have been for as long as I can remember. I enjoy writing longhand for letters, notes, journal-keeping, etc., and I'm always on the lookout for a better pen -- ballpoint, rollerball, fountain...any will do.Well, I discovered Pilot's Extra-Fine Gel-Ink pens about 3 or 4 years ago, and my search is over. I have tried other new and different pens since then, but I keep going back. Nothing compares, and nothing surpasses them, even expensive varieties. These pens don't require a scribble to start the ink (or to restart it when you pause for a thought), they never skip, they never get ink globs around the point (a common pitfall for gel-ink pens, and fine-point pens in general), and they always write a smooth, clean line. I've even found they will write upside-down, like the Fisher Space Pen does, so they're also great when a wall is your only flat surface to jot a quick note!Other available colors include purple and green, as well as standard black, blue, and red! These pens are refillable too, so they are ecological AND economical. I have also started using the G2 refills in my more expensive pen barrels whenever they fit, since the cartridges that came with those expensive pens are horrible. The ONLY negative thing I can say is minor: the first time you use it, it may be a little scratchy until you wear the point to your angle of writing, but this "breaking in" is over quickly. If you want a pen that makes handwriting a pleasure, this is the one for you! Pilot G2 Retractable Gel Ink Roller Ball Pen, Extra Fine Point, Clear Barrel, Black Ink, 12-Count (31002)

Gel ink rules! If you like a ball point pen but you also enjoy the water based ink in rolling ball pens, the G-2 Gel-Ink pen is the one for you. I have found the ink to be water resistant, smear-proof, acid free and archival safe once it has dried. The colors of the Gel-Ink is more vivid than other pens. Since the pen is retractable, you can open and close it with one hand. Tired of losing caps - no problem here! The contoured rubber grip makes for a comfortable grip and flawless control. The pen has yet to slip out of my hands no matter how fast I write. Worried about how much ink you have? No problem, you can clearly see the level of ink left. You must have this pen!

I loved these pens. They are so comfortable and write so nicely; my preference is an extra fine point blue ink and these G-2 05mm extra fine points were my favorite by far. I used them for years and bought them by the box of 12. Until about a year and half ago and something happened to the way they are made and the extra fine point pens would suffer loss of ink flow from the start of use. I tried heating the tip, shaking them downward, every trick I could think of, but to no avail. I went through 2 boxes and several individual 3 packs over a period of a year and a half(so I know it was not a short-term one-batch problem) and no luck, they just would not write. Very frustrating as I have not found any extra fine gel ink pen as comfortable. I would say their motto now is "feels great, doesn't write for beans."

I much prefer the pilot G2 series to the 'equivalent' UniBall pens. While the G2 gel ink does dry faster it does not dry as fast as I would like.

_fyi_

* The G2 grip is round: much preferred to triangle variations of other brands

* grip has ridges nearer pen tip and slightly larger diameter smooth surface for those who prefer to grip further from the pen tip.

* I lose the pen before running out of ink [where lose usually means people permanently borrow without permission]

* prefer the 0.5 to the 1.0, but ultimately prefer the 0.38

* fine = 0.7

* x-fine = 0.5

* ultra-fine = 0.35

* I've never seen a refill kit in a BnM store for the G2 series though they allegedly exist

_pro_

* faster drying than uniball gel

* more comfortable grip than other gels I have used

* unlike an uncapped unibal gel the retractable (uncapped) pens do not self destruct because of prolonged disuse (after initial use)

* functions at narrow angle to paper

* does not "gum up" when certain people borrow to write on skin

* less tactile feedback from writing surface than uniball

_cons_

* ink does not dry as fast as I would like

** occasionally smearing- while inking my palm

* the dozen pack of 0.5 is three bux less at Office max

I absolutely LOVE these pens...IF they work! When you buy a package, you never know how many will be duds! When they work, they are smooth and the ink flows freely. I'm starting to reach a point though where I'm not willing to pay so much for cool pens to have several of them malfunction. Not sure if the ones that actually work are worth that price.

My favorite pens. Good quality, reasonable price. I buy them by the dozens. I like the 05 width (07 is too thick - I'm a doctor and have tiny writing, and 03 is too scratchy).

Only problem is that probably 1/7 pens gets ruined by some wired eventually coming loose and out of where the ball is. At that point, pen is ruined.

However, I absolutely love the other 6/7.

I started with the .07 g2 a little too thick fro all the tiny spaces to fill on documents medical ones I write all day the g5 is very good I purchase bulk when I can and have noticed the same with a few duds I also write kanji it does the job very well I wish they would look at QC a little more closely

I have used these pens - and no others - for 10 years! I love them. The black/blue have always worked - perhaps the person who said otherwise forgot to remove the small clear plastic ball at the end of the point. However, I have had the colored pens dry out before the ink runs out. - G2 - Retractable - Gel Pen - Pens'

Panasonic Blu-ray - streaming video, blu-ray disc players

The player is great. The menu system is the best I've used in a player and I returned both a Sony BD560 and a Samsung 6500 before getting this unit. Just a few notes for those that might be thinking of getting it this player.

#1 The internet options are extensive, new options to me like Amazon streaming and Skype, mixed with the mainstay apps like Netflix, Pandora, and many more. make this player very attractive to the streaming and online entertainment user.

#2 The firmware the unit currently ships with will not let you get into the Internet streaming apps or anything for that matter until you update the firmware. Updating the firmware from the 1.09 firmware it ships with will not work as of this date via wireless or wired internet connections. The secondary option is to burn the frmware to a disc. This you think would be straight foward, but it isn't. Using Windows 7 or Vista, you MUST create an ISO 9660 ONLY... I went through 3 coasters before this player could properly read the Firmware update disc I created to bring it up to 1.47. Using any other ISO format will fail.

#3, Netflix... I have 2 accounts, one old, one new and active. Got them mixed up during the install process and had my OLD netflix account essentially bound to the unit. No way to empty the cache, or sign-out and login with a new username and password (It doesn't use the code on screen method like a lot of players, you actually log into netflix from the machine) To wipe out the incorrect netflix ID, I had to factory reset the Blu-Ray player. Which meant setting everything up again. My shared drives (You can map a shared folder on your network to play files, very nice) Wireless, everything had to be set up again.

#4 No on board memory. It supports SD cards for Storage for Blu Ray online features and other apps, but it has no storage of its own. I personally found this to be nice, especially given I have many SD cards laying around from 1 to 8 gigs in size. But if you want to take full advantage of extras on Blue Rays, add the cost of an SD card to your price (Or possibly USB thumb drive??? haven't tested) in order to have on-board storage.

This player is fast, has an outstanding menu system. A very reliable network interface (Take note Samsung!) and has some nice next-gen features such as touch-less ejecting, kind of novel, but I did find myself liking it.... having come from the Samsung 6500 just recently, I found the fact that the player keeps you informed with on screen displays as to what it is doing if their are the common loading delays when first starting Blu-Rays for instance, a very nice change from the black of screen of questioning I always had with the Samsung model. And Sony's 560 had a very lame netflix interface so that wasn't an option for me after seeing it, given I use streaming a LOT.

For the 2011 models, I'd like to see the offerings from the competitors before I whole heartily recommend this one, but I'm very happy with my purchase. Panasonic seems to know what they are doing with UI's, UI user Feedback and general tech savyness in their Blu-Ray players. (aside from the current Firmware glitch) Panasonic DMP-BDT210 Integrated-Wi-Fi 3D Blu-ray DVD Player

To give a frame of reference, I replaced a Panasonic BD35 with this Panasonic DMP-BDT210 it is hooked to a Sony HD AV 7.1 receiver and to a Panasonic 50" Plasma TV, and I have a LinkSys Wireless Router (802.11n).

It arrived today and I opened the box at about 6PM, ready for what I expected was going to a long night, just seems to usually work out that way these days, figured it would be issues with getting it on the network, so I started in.

Nothing tricky for my hook-up, just one HDMI connection to the receiver and I used the one that was there from the BD35, and the power cord, that was it for wires.

Put the batts (supplied) in the remote and turned it on, pops up quickly to an Easy Set-Up menu that you can get through in a few seconds and start playing Blu-ray DVD's. I wanted to hook it to the network and I always like to look around at the options, so I opted to go to the other set-up menu.

The Easy Set-up takes you to the option to set up a network connection, if you are not going to use the network features you can just pick no and you are ready to watch a Blu-ray movie. I opted to set-up the network and this is what I thought was going to be the hard part, it asked, wired or wireless, I picked wireless, it found my network in about 15 seconds and put the name on the screen, I picked it and it knew it was a secure/encrypted network connection so it asked for the password, and put up a keyboard to put it in.

Once I gave it the password it started trying to connect to the network, a screen pops up with a number of pass/fail tests it is running, that took another 15 seconds to pass them all.

The rest of set-up can be skipped for the most part depending on your connection to the TV or in my case the player to the receiver and receiver to the TV through HDMI connections, so it knew the capabilities of the TV and set everything right.

If you want to more personalize it or need to set the screen size (standard/wide) then Set-Up offers that an a number of other options, like parental control, the display brightness, a number of audio options and 3D and 2D video options, all in all very nice set of options and again, most never need be messed with if you don't want to, it attempts to optimize itself. (Also, no matter how bad you mess it it, you can just tell it to go back to factory settings and do it again)

After spending about 5 minutes in set-up doing the network and looking around I had to pop in a disc and see how it looked and sounded. I did not really expect a noticable difference from my old one in picture and sound, and perhaps it is just percerption, but both seemed better to me.

However what you notice first is the speed it loads the disc, it is very fast. The BD35 was slow, so slow I would rather watch a bad movie than change discs, I had put in Tron 3D as the first test, killer, video and audio, and effects. Next, I put in Tron in 2D and tried the 2D to 3D, interesting and effective, looked pretty good but I am not a big 3D fan. There are also settings the change the 3D effects.

Next, I went to 2D and again the audio and video were just outstanding, not that the old one was bad at all, this was just better, enough to notice. So for picture and sound it is 5 stars all the way for the price.

The menu navigation is very clean and easy to follow while in the Panasonic menus, and very fast, navigating the disc is also fast, more that quick enough to make those options worth it. So overall navigation and easy of use I have to also give a 5.

Now for something I had not tried before on my TV other than Pay-Per-View via cable, I hit the VeraCast and there was YouTube, Amazon, NetFlix, VuDu, and a bunch of others. I tried out Amazon first and watched a free show, no issues at all. It played perfectly, no picture snags, stops, buffering, audio dropouts, it played as well as from the cable box. Same for NetFlix, the stuff all played fine.

I did notice sluggish menus while on the Internet Movie sites, it was clear that it was not the unit but the sites, and even then by sluggish I mean a few seconds delay on some selections, not like my old unit were somethings could take a few minutes.

So 5 stars on the internet movie, tv, and information features.

I guess no review would be complete with a unit with the ability to wave your hand over the top of the player to open and close the drawer, so here is its honorable mention, it works.

Well my prediction of spending half the night (3 hours) was correct, but it was not in getting it to work, it was watching YouTube and Amazon video's, and parts of a number of movies. A very enjoyable evening.

Overall I give this a solid 5, there was nothing I could find to knock it down, it was easy to set up, easy to use, and outstanding performance and features.

Electronics For Kids - toddler camera, kids camera

A cousin of mine had one and loved it, so I bought one for my 3-year-old son. He loves it. Since then, several other cousins, after seeing ours being used, have bought them. It's catchy.

I just happened to throw it in, when we went to a wedding reception and that kept my son entertained the whole night. I had so many comments about how cute it was that he was taking pictures too. He taught the other kids there, how to use it. They took pictures of each other. It was really interesting to see what he wanted to take pictures of. And, I had some decent pictures of the evening to keep.

As far as the quality of the pictures....not real great. It takes ok in low light. You have to be at just the right distance for it to turn out. Many of the pictures are fuzzy. Part of the fault lies in that a 3-year-old is taking the pictures, but even when I take them, they aren't as good as my adult camera. But that's obvious; it is built as a toy and to withstand a kid dropping it. My son hasn't once asked for the pictures that he took. He doesn't care about that part. He just wants to take the pictures. Much to my dismay, he actually has fun erasing them too. I wanted some of those pictures!!

Don't buy this to get great pictures. Buy it because kids have great fun with it and it teaches them how to handle a real camera in the future. When they prove they are responsible and with your supervision, give them an old camera of yours. Xbox 360 Component Hd Cable - hd dvd, xbox 360 component hd cable

These cables are very cheap and have a strong scent of plastic about them. Note: I have a 46 inch Samsung LCD TV at 1080p. Immediately after I turned my Xbox 360 on using these cables, I could see double (ghosting) of everything! The text on screen looked the worst, and was very difficult to read. The images were also doubled very badly. I also use Netflix on Xbox Live and the image quality of their HD movies looked very bad as well. Do not waste your time. As much as I hate to say it, you are going to have to pay for the official Microsoft cables unless you want this ghosting problem and bad quality. Returned immediately. NEW Xbox 360 Component HDAV High Definition HD AV Cable

I ordered this cable about a week and a half ago and have found no problems whatsoever. The cable [seems] authentic with the Microsoft holographic sticker and logo. I've been using the cable for about a week at 720p and haven't seen any ghosting, blurriness, delay, flickering, low fps, nothing. Great cable that is needed for all xbox 360 consoles , and at a great price.

As for the one bad review, defective products happen. Mass production is never perfect, believe me. Doesn't necessarily mean that the cable is fake, used, tampered, just got lucky with a bad one.

I had purchased this for my Mitsubish 60 in DLP. So far everything has worked out and have not seen "ghosting" or anything weird with these component wires. I as well as my kids will play Call of Duty and Halo more than 6 hours a day ( myself an hour or so a day), and not had any problems. The wire do look cheap and agree with the other review as far as the wire smelling like plastic but no problems here!!

The cable that came with the purchase of the xbox 360 has the word microsoft engraved on it with a reflective sticker that also says microsoft. It has a silver coating.

The cable from amazon doesn't have the word microsoft engraved on it, the reflective sticker and it has a gold coating.

The original cable was easy to plug in. But I had trouble with the cable from amazon. It seems like it's too big because I had to kind of force it into the plug in. No damaged though.

The cable seems new but it is not a microsoft cable. - Xbox 360 Component Hd Cable - Video Games - Hd Dvd - Video Cables'

Double Layer - tdk, dual layer

Always bought a competitor's blank media, but took a chance on this product and it's a WINNER. Excellent product at an economical price. Dual (or double) layer DVD recordable media is getting harder to find in the stores - at least a good brand is anyway. Picture and audio clarity are excellent and is just as good, if not, better than the more expensive Dual Layer recordables. Don't waste money on other name brands that give you less quantity for the same price or more. This product was purchased from an outside vendor thru Amazon. Shipping was clean and prompt. Would definitely buy again ! TDK - 50 x DVD+R DL - 8.5 GB 8x - spindle - storage media

I believe it is not fair to write a review destroying a product, claiming that it does not work at all. First, i've been burning cd's and dvd's containing all kind of files for years, and i've used almost every single brand of dvd's and i have to say that just a few brands which are very cheap never worked as i hoped they would. I bought 2 packs of these TDK DL dvds, each one containing 25 discs (product's description says its a single pack with 50 dvd's), and so far i've burned 14 disc without a single problem. I've burned movies, music, and made backups of my work and burned a few games too, and they all worked perfectly. I think some reviewers here should learn how to burn a dvd first, and then they should write a review. Google is out there, you can find whatever you are looking for there. But please, dont say that every single dvd didn't work. I used an ASUS SDRW-08D1S-U dvd writer, and burned the dvds at maximum speed allowed (6x) and depending on the amount of data burned, it took 16 mins to burn 7.6 GB. If you got a low performance pc, try to burn at the lowest speed possible, and dont run any other programs while burning a dvd. Plus, get a good burning software, and don't mess around with the options if you don't know what they are for. I used Nero Express and it did all the work by itself, i just had to drag and burn. And even if it sounds dumb, confirm if your dvd burner supports double layer dvds.

I give this product 5/5 since every single dvd ive burned, works perfectly. Dont blame this product for your lack of knowledge, something that may sound simple like burning a dvd could be very tricky if you dont do it carefully. I will definitely buy more once i finish with these ones.

I burn a lot of DVD+R's, and I used to be a loyal fan of TDK. But here in the last couple of years, TDK must have changed something in their DVD's, and I cannot burn any successful DVD's. The problem first started with their CD's. I could not burn a copy of my own CD's to keep in the truck so that my originals don't get damaged or scratched. Now the problem has moved over to their DL DVD+R's. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER TDK EVER AGAIN! I would suggest going with the Verbatim DL DVD's. They are still very good. It's too bad amazon doesn't offer their brand of DL DVD's anymore, because I always had good luck with those as well. If you buy TDK's, you are just throwing your money away! Run away from TDK as fast as you can! TDK doesn't even deserve the one star, but amazon's rating system doesn't allow zero stars!

I have tried 5 types of dvd+r dl and so far these are the best. I have not tried the verbatims because of their price but I bet these are as good. No coaster and no loading errors. These are good disc.

I'm working through my second spindle of this media and I've not had a single failure. Perhaps those who are reporting failures should take note: I always make sure I'm not running any additional software while I burn to media. This is the only media in DL that I purchase.

I've only been using Double layer media for a short period of time and from my experience, I can tell you that you have to have a good double layer burner and really quality double layer media and TDK have been the best thus far. I've tried various combinations and I must say Asus burners (multiple different models I've tried), Light-on, Sony NEC optirc (AD-7170A), and this piece of junk Light Scribe, are not very reliable. Plextor (don't know the model number) is alright, but slow. However, the HP DVD1270i with the TDK have been a great combination. I rarely get coasters! There are some TDK DL in the bunch that are not the best but compared to the results I was getting with the Memorex brand, I'll take the few I get from the 50 spindle. Memorex DL media absolutely are junk-DO NOT BUY THEM!! You will hate yourself for trying.

So bought my first batch of these TDK DLs since for some reason the Memorex weren't available for Prime. Used to the occasional bad batch spitting out 2 or 3, but have enjoyed about 4 months with no errors from Memorex. First disc off this TDK batch, write error. Got about a third of the way down and suddenly they all give write errors. Got a growing stack of coasters, so at least the furniture will benefit.

Each one fails at 50% burn, ie. right at the switch to the second layer, where it then spits out an illegal disc error. So if you like your double layer discs coming out as single layer with only have the material loaded and unfinished, then these are your media. Otherwise, avoid like the cheap Chinese crap they appear to be. - Dvd Dl - Dvd Dual Layer - Dual Layer - Tdk'

Nimh Batteries - battery aa rechargeable, sony battery

I have owned these for about four months. Mostly they are used in a DSLR camera.

I find that, when freshly charged, they are superb, giving lots of life and fast performance in the DSLR, which relies heavily on good battery power. They also charge fine, with no memory problems, in the Sony charger.

However, these batteries lose power when not in use. Most AAA rechargeables do, of course. But there are a new sort on the market that minimize the power drain when not in use. I have tried some, the eneloops.

They are just plain better than these Sony batteries. Eneloops fire right up and last longer even when they have not been in use for days or weeks. I find this makes a big difference because I don't have to recharge every time I start out a day with my camera.

Hope you find this helpful. Sony 2500 mAh AA Rechargeable Nimh Batteries, 4-pack

I've used these, Energizers, Duracells, etc. These have worked as well as any, and are often sold by Amazon at a very good price. Sony also makes a nice charger, the BCG-34HRMF4. When on sale, with 4 batteries, it's a great deal.

Be aware, though, that NiMH batteries all slowly lose their charge on the shelf, and will discharge in about a month or so, so don't use it for a device that sits around somewhere for long periods.

These are my first rechargeable batteries, so all I can say is that in comparison to alkaline, these are WAY better and longer losting. Alkalines stop working in digital cameras long before they are actually used up, because they can't supply the required current for high-demand devices. These Sonys last much more than 4x as long because alkalines only work for a few minutes. These Sonys maintain their voltage at a stable level. I am using them in an Olympus C-755 digital camera, and I charge them using the Sony BCG-34HE4 charger. I can't say exactly how many pictures you can take on one charge, because they last for so long I lose track. If you have a digital camera, you absolutely must use rechargeable Nimh batteries. Don't waste your money on the expensive "high-end" alkalines or non-rechargeable lithium, etc. Also, you are doing the environment a favor by not using toxic landfill filler.

It's best to charge your high-capacity (2500 mAh) NiMH batteries in an appropriate charger of the same manufacturer.

When I attempted to charge Sony batteries in my Monster charger, the batteries got very hot, never stopped charging, and killed the charger. I tried 2500 mAh Sony batteries in my cordless Logitech mouse, and when the mouse was placed in its charger, the batteries - and the mouse - began to get hot. Fortunately I removed the batteries before any damage was done to the mouse or its charger.

The Sony batteries are fine when charged in a Sony charger. Perhaps someone else will know whether the problem is mixing brands, or mixing capacities. Just be careful which batteries you put in what. -LR

Purchase this as an extra set after receiving Sony charger. The lesson came very soon. I had to rush to a nearby 7/11 minutes before an event. The Olympus DSC showed "low bat" on the 2700maH batteries (came with the charger) after few shots and didn't even like the 2500maH spares that were charged 2 to 3 days prior.

I have done some research and weekly experiments. I refreshed and re-charged repeatedly and measures in-between. The voltage dropped from the ~1.4V to ~1.2V within 3 days on all 8 of them. One tech paper stated that NiMH batteries do lose 1% of their charges in 24 hours at room temp when not in use. The Sony ones must have far exceeded the typcial case. It's winter time in Calfornia and the moisture doesn't come into play.

I read all the reviews before the purchases. I wondered if I were just unlucky until the reviews on the charger revealed the same issue with the batteries.

These batteries are not totally useless. They give you a good day of shooting if you charge the night before. What you lose is the freedom of "grab and shoot".

These batteries work great, but lose charge rapidly if not used right away. I have 4 batteries and when they are fully charged I have never run out of battery power for a full day of picture taking. When the batteries sit around not used for more than 3 or 4 days they lose their charge. Not sure if other brands do the same. All in all I am happy with these batteries. I just charge the batteries before an event. 2 in the camera and 2 spare.

Product is made in Japan. Took around 280 pictures with my Canon S5 and it was still going. The capacity of 4 batteries are shown as 2630, 2640, 2580 & 2710 mAh & the voltage is 1.47V in La Crosse BC-900 charger. It is one of the best price/performance ratio.

I've tested many different brands of rechargeable batteries, and have in total over 40 of them. These are the best so far.

As someone else already stated, they are relabeled Sanyo batteries - which is good!. Sanyo is one of the best batteries manufacturers there is.

When tested, every one of them is over 2300mAh. Consistent performance, long lasting, reliable, made in japan and cheaper than most of the other brands (which perform worse).

Highly recommended. - Battery Aa Rechargeable - Nimh - Sony Battery - Battery'

Whole Grain Baking

We all know about the benefits of Olive Oil so to see it applied to baking intrigued me. After trying many recipes I have to say that the author, Ms.Sheldon, has hit a home run. My family can't decide on a favorite yet. I have ordered SIX more copies to be sent out as Christmas gifts. I am grateful for this well thoughtout book.

Olive Oil Cake

I'm a huge fan of olive oil--just the smell of it when I open a bottle brings a smile to my face. I use it almost soley when I cook--it reminds me of my Italian grandmother's kitchen when I was a child. When this book was given to me as a gift I was little cynical because I know how healthy and good-tasting olive oil is for savory dishes, but with baking? I wasn't so sure. I gave it a try--the pumpkin cookies are a particular favorite. They're very moist and tasty. And you don't taste the olive oil--but you benefit from the nutrition! I can't wait to try more recipes. I also find the tips and information interesting.

It is our good fortune to have a friend who wrote her own cookbook and gave us lots of delicious things to taste. And now that the book is out, it's EVERYONE'S good fortune! Happily, the delicious things that have been coming out of Lisa's kitchen ever since we've known her now come out of OUR kitchen too, thanks to this book. Pancakes, pumpkin muffins -- everything we've tried has been excellent. We brought a double-batch of the apple muffins to our 2-year-old son's playgroup and they certainly passed the toddler test: The kids ate every single one! This book is our standard holiday gift this year.

Lisa Sheldon is a baking genius, bringing novelty and nourishment to the dessert plate. My 11-year-old son, partial to gingerbread from a boxed mix, thinks this gingerbread is the best ever! It improved on day 2, so it's a great make-ahead recipe. Substituting white whole wheat flour for the called-for whole wheat pastry flour works well.

"Olive Oil Baking" is a welcome addition to our well-stocked kitchen bookshelves. I'll be giving this book as a gift to several people, and Best-Ever Cinnamon Rolls will definitely be part of our holidays! What a winner.

So far every recipe I have made from this book has been great. Even my 8 year old says they are delicious. So far nothing has turned out oily or mushy. I got this book to help my family cut some of the saturated fats out of our lives.

I like baking. Maybe not every day. But enough to be potentially unhealthy! A low cholesterol kick looked like it could be the end of all that. But then I discovered this book. This truly fantastic, delicious book. OK, so it doesn't have any pictures. That's right - none. I know - bit of a shock! But once you're over that, you have a book packed full of delicious, healthy recipes (and some not quite so angelic) that work really well. How about the chocolate fudge brownies made mainly of courgettes (that's zucchini to some) and olive oil? You would never know -they taste properly indulgent! Love this book. And no, I won't lend it to you. Buy your own - I can't live without it!

I have tried and LOVED at least 3 cookie recipes, a chocolate zucchini bread, and an apple crisp from this book. I have yet to try a recipe that doesn't work out. I would recommend this book to anyone, whether they were trying to eat healthfully, or not. In the end what is important is that the food tastes good, and that's exactly what you get from the recipes in this book.

We just purchased this so I haven't used it much. We've made the modified "Nestle Toll House" chocolate chip cookie and the granola bars. Both items were delish and it was good knowing that they were somewhat healthier than traditional recipes. The one thing which I think is missing is nutritional information on the recipes. There are many people concerned with fat grams, calories, fiber, sodium content, etc..

I am surprised that the author does not provide nutritional analysis for the recipes. Ms. Sheldon probably could have easily provided some nutritional breakdown given that she is pursuing a master's in clinical nutrition. What happened? I would be very interested in knowing some elementary nutritional information without having to input the recipe into a program for basic anlaysis. Other reviews indicate the recipes yield good results so I am looking forward to trying some.

I was looking foreward to this, but learned why people don't use olive oil so much in baking: the cakes taste greasy. Another problem is the cake recipes are for 9" x 13" which is too large for a small family or couple.'

Xbox 360 Headset - xbox 360 headset, microsoft

I have been an xbox live subscriber for over 5 years now. I never minded the old xbox 1 headset but the plastic had a tendency to break (nothing a little duct tape couldn't fix). I was surprised when I bought the 360 as I found the new headsets actually went down in quality. They were uncomfortable to wear (reminded me of listening to my old Sony Walkman in the early 90's). The sound was terrible (full volume was about 75% of the xbox 1 headset's full volume). And worst of all is that they would continue to BREAK (only this time it was the wires, not the plastic). I actually went through 3... yes 'THREE' of the wired headsets before i had enough.

In comes the Microsoft wireless 360 headset. It was more than I wanted to spend but I figured it was cheaper than buying a new wired mic every month. First off, this thing is very comfortable. Anyone who uses blue tooth on their cellphone will feel right at home with this on. Second, the top volume is much louder, making listening much more easier. Also you can tell right away that the audio from the headset is 'crisper' and not so distorted, and from talking to others I understand that people will receive you voice as clear as a phone call. The charge will last about 6-8 hours (plenty of time for any gaming marathon) and as long as you remember to plug it in when you are done playing, you should never have a problem with the battery dying. The best part of all is that you will have to really try hard to break this sucker. The durability of this tiny device is impressive.

Now onto the negatives. There isn't much to say. I suppose for some the volume control and mute being on the unit can be awkward but you get use to it. Also, once in awhile I found that it will randomly disconnect for a moment, though it will immediately reconnect itself. Really the only bad thing to say about this is the obvious... the price. As much as I love this headset and praise it, it did not have to be priced at $60. It would have been more sensibly priced at $40 in my opinion.

Overall though, if you have the money and like to chat with friends online I highly recommend this.

Pros:

-Comfortable

-Light

-Modern Design

-Crisp audio in/out

-Rechargeable Battery (6-8 hour life)

-Surprisingly Durable

Cons:

-Awkward volume controls

-can occasionally 'cut out' for a second or two

-PRICE ($60?!) Xbox 360 Wireless Headset

I own one of these and i think it is a fantastic accessory. The only drawback is it doesnt detect your voice if you are softspoken. I have no problem because i talk at a relatively loud volume most times anyway. Not to say that screaming into it is necessary, but the meek should shy away from this headset. However, if you want the freedom that wireless-ness brings, this is a great addition to your collection. Being able to put my controller down and run to the kitchen or restroom or do anything else for that matter without having to take off my headset is great. The range is not a far as the controller+wired headset combo, but its still very good, probably about 25 feet. The battery life is not too shabby either, clocking in at about 8 to 10 hours on a single charge. I just plug it back in when im done with it and never worry about it dying in-game. It really is a great product, this is my second, seeing as how my dog ate my first...

The 360 Wireless headset isn't crisp clear audio quality like they suggest, but is a step up from the standard shipped headset.

It serves its purpose and is quite practical as it is much smaller, but unfortunately the '8 hour charge' sometimes becomes 2 hour inconsistencies.

The headset at first is odd to put on around the ear, but after awhile it becomes habitual and comfortable. Overall the headsets durable, somewhat good audio quality, and a bit less in your way oppose to other headsets.

The price doesn't make for such a worthy buy, if found cheaper this is a keeper.

I've had my 360 since Christmas 2007 and just went Live earlier this week. My corded headset crapped out the FIRST time I used it so I went out and bought this wireless unit.

The unit I purchased is one of the newer models that come with the USB charger. Not a bad feature, but I'd prefer an AC charger. Charge time is pretty slow, taking up to 6 hours for a complete charge. Fortunately I tend to play at night so if my headset dies, I just plug it in before I go to bed and it's ready to go when I get up.

The sound quality is pretty good. I hear everyone clearly and have had no complaints from other players about me sounding strange or about static over the connection. I would like to see future models add a quick mute function. I liked that feature in the wired headset. :)

My other little complaint is that the earpiece(s) don't fit my ears well. This could be user error, or it may be because my ears are a bit larger than average. The unit never seems to fit securely, but has yet to fall off so can I really dock it points?

All in all, despite a couple small complaints, this headset does what it sets out to do; give gamers the ability to communicate with others clearly, without the hastles of being wired to the controler. I would recommend this to any 360 Live users. - Microsoft - Xbox Live - Xbox 360 Headset - Xbox 360 Wireless Headset'

Data Cables - micro-usb, palm

I purchased this cable and wall adapter to use with an additional Touchstone for my Palm Pre. It's a little more expensive than some of the USB cables out there, but there are so many mixed reviews on them working with the Touchstone that I figured it was a safer bet. I was pleased when it arrived that the cable is not like the one pictured, but it is identical to the cable included with the Pre (minus the attached rubber cable tie). It fits right into the Touchstone with no alterations needed (I've read some reviews where the plastic had to be shaved off to fit). After plugging into the wall adapter it was good to go and charging perfectly! Palm Pre Original Smart Phone AC USB Wall Adapter + Original Palm PRE Charging USB 2.0 Data Cable

I just wanted to make it clear to people that this is an identical item (both the usb cable AND the wall charger piece) to the one that comes with the Pre.

It has the same distinctive palm branded circle, heavy duty cable, and even the little plastic thing that holds the cable together.

Things to know:

- The box is OEM not retail. Which means that packaging is less than impressive. (vibe cellular vendor)

- Works and looks just like the original, and hence it's touchstone compatible.

- I tried one knock off charger, and it would randomly not charge. So I would not recommend that route, especially given the price (around $15) you can get the real one for.

- keep one at home and one at work.

I received my Palm Pre charger from the seller BTO today, only 2 business days after ordering it. Thanks to the USPS for delivering it so quickly!

It seems to be an original charger, and was well-packaged in a small plastic bag and bubble wrap. My only disappointment is that this charger isn't as small as the one that originally came with my Verizon Pre Plus. Unfortunately, this means that the adapter I bought on Amazon can't be plugged in next to another plug on my power strip. This wasn't a problem with my original charger, so it's a little annoying. Without actually timing it, it seems to be charging the phone just as quickly as my original charger (at least, it's faster than charging via USB), but I'll have to test it later with my Touchstone, in case the charger itself isn't up to its own manufacturing specs.

It sounds like the particular charger you receive will vary depending on your luck and/or which seller you buy from. Another reviewer mentioned receiving the adapter which is physically smaller. I personally would have preferred that one, but for less than eight bucks, I can't really complain too much.

After doing some looking, I found that there are 3 model numbers for the Palm Pre chargers: 157-10108-00, 157-10124-00, and 157-10130-00. According to the Palm Pre Owner's Manual from Verizon Wireless, you can use any of the three chargers with the Pre, and the rated output for all of them is 5V 1A (1000mA).

The one I received was 157-10108-00. My original (smaller) charger was 157-10124-00.

I agree with the other 1-star Review. The product is probably fine. Just don't order it from AccesoryOne because their stock is not correct. You only get the charging cable - not the wall adapter. And you can't get them to send the wall adapter separate so you have to return it and buy it somewhere else. So beware who you order it from!

Hopefully it varies by vendor, but the product I received was only half way accurate.

I ordered from "The OEM Shop" and received the wall charger adapter, branded Palm, and seems genuine.

The problem is with the cable, which is nothing like what I received with my Palm product originally and is only about 1.5 feet long. There is no rubber piece attached to manage the cable and no silver detail on the micro-usb end. So it is definitely not OEM Palm.

Also, it is basically unusable unless you charge your phone on the floor next to the plug. Now I get to look for a cable that is long enough to extend from the wall plug to a table or desk.

Thankfully this was only a hair under $4, but watch out who you buy from I guess.

While it might have been designed for a Palm, this also makes a nice quality, compact, inexpensive black charger for an iPhone. It works on our iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. Of course, you have to supply the right USB-to-iPhone cable to plug into the USB charging port - the mini USB cable that comes with this won't work with an iPhone.

SOLID POWER: It's rated for output at 5V (of course - that's the USB standard) and 1.0A (which is 1000 mA) - higher than many other chargers. It can handle 100-240V, so it works overseas.

COMPACT AND GOOD FOR TRAVEL: The prongs fold in for travel, and snap in place when folded out.

They do come in different sizes. For the first one I bought, from BTO, the size of the body (without the prongs) is 1-3/16" (30 mm) in diameter and 1-7/16" (36 mm) deep from front to back, so it's compact to carry and use - it doesn't take up more than one socket as long as you insert it the right way. (I received part number 157-10130-00 from BTO, in case that's useful - another review says there are three possible models.)

The second one I ordered is larger - 1-13/16" (35 mm) in diameter by 1-7/8" (47 mm) deep. Apparently it is the international version, which can be used with various adapters - if you twist the end with the prongs counter clockwise, the US adapter comes off. It's part number 157-10108-00. I ordered it from The OEM Shop, and it came with a cable that is clearly not original "Original Palm PRE", if that matters to you.

QUALITY: Both versions are marked as being UL listed, with the smaller one made by Flextronics and the larger one by Foxlink. Both are large manufacturers, so the quality should be better than some of the cheap, no-name chargers.

CHOOSE A GOOD VENDOR: As with all products sold by third parties (that is, not Amazon) - check the seller's feedback and choose a good vendor, even if it costs a little more. A number of the reviews here mention problems with some of the vendors. Look for one rated 96% or higher. 90% may sound good, but it's an abysmal rating on Amazon.

By the way, since it does come with a mini-USB cable, it would work with the cable for lots of other phones, like LG. And if you supply your own cable to plug into the USB charging port it would work with even more phones. For example, lots of Motorola phones use USB-to-micro-USB cables. - Palm - Charger - Palm Pre - Micro-usb'

Garmin Case - nuvi case, case

This case is exactly what we wanted. The 4.3" 255w garmin fits in great along with the charger. Make sure you store you garmin face down in the case so that it is protected, especially if you store the charger in the case as well. With the charger in the case, it is a tight fit, but that is good so that nothing moves around gets scratched or broken. It is not so tight you have to force it shut. I would highly recommend this. Plus the black case has a dull shine so its easy to hide in your car, to keep unwelcomed eyes away. DARK BLUE Hard Shell Case For Garmin, TomTom, Mio GPS with 3.5" and 4.3" Screen

This case has a semi-rigid cover and some elastic nice straps inside to hold your 3.5" or 4.3" GPS in place. The only minor drawback is that I expected the inside of the case to be a little more "plush" and soft. But it's not worth subtracting a star. It's a good buy.

I would agree that the case is more of a semi-ridged case rather than a true hard case, but it is still a very good product, especially for the money! I use mine with a 4.3'' Garmin and it does not slide around while inside.

Purchased this case for a gift for a 265 Garmin. You cannot fit the Power Cord as described as the Power Cord has a big attachment. Unless you leave the cigarette lighter end out of the case or really jamb it in thre, it does not fit. These cases should be just a bit bigger. Won't last as the stitching is going to give.

It is WAY too small. It will hold a Garmin 4.3 size gps but forgot trying to put the cord in the case also. It will not zip. If it is was a bit bigger, this case would be terrific. It's nice quality, has a hard shell and seems very durable. It would be great for a smaller gps.

I don't understand why anyone would be negative about this case unless you paid at least twice the price. For 5 bucks you can't find anything better, in my opinion. It fits a 4.3 unit perfectly and provides good protection. If you are going to be rough and tumble with it then spend more money and get something heavier and thicker, but for average use it serves its purpose.

I would definitely not recommend this hard case. I bought this for my 4.3 Garmin GPS. This was a poor choice.

The unit does fit well, but that's about the only good thing I can say about it. The case is very bulky, the construction is very cheaply done, zipper is poor quality and I doubt it will last very long. I would have returned it if I could! I considered this a loss and went out and bought another case, one that is leather, slim design that would easily fit in glove box of the car or purse.

Used this with a Garmin 265. Case is great but you really have to stuff any cords in that side pocket to make it a carry-all for everything. So do I turn the screen towards the cords which are crammed in there or towards the outside where it might get hit??? Nice carry case for just the Garmin if you want to take it in-out of the car. - Case Logic - Gps Carrying Case - Nuvi Case - Case'

Blackberry - blackberry, unlocked phones

This is the upgrade on the storm 1 9530, and they seem to have made a much better phone. The touch screen works well, the sound clarity is good, the camera takes nice pictures for a blackberry and all the features work as expected.

For a full touch screen it is high end, not as good as a $500 HTC or iPhone but well worth its cheaper price tag. Blackberry Storm 2 9550 Unlocked Smartphone. 3.2MP Camera with image stabilization. 3.25in Touchscreen display (Refurbished)

This phone the Storm 2 is by far is better then my Storm 1.

The touch works so much better, the phone is so much faster, Wifi is awesome, you know some more memory doesn't hurt, overall this is a much better user experience, you don't feel like your in the stone ages of touch screen anymore.

Glass Tv Component Shelf - glass tv component shelf, shelf

This OmniMount wall shelf is great! This product is inexpensive, stylish and practical. It is extremely easy to assemble and mount. I mounted it in an area of my bedroom where space is limited. Instead of mounting it to the studs, I mounted it to an area of the wall that is hollow, using anchor plugs and screws. As you can see from the pictures, I have a DVD player and a cable box on the shelf and it is holding up very well.

Additionally, the black glass feature is extremely practical to the extent that if you chose to mount this shelf in a high area, you would not be able to see the bottoms of your components underneath and through the glass. The cable management system is also a big plus. Another attractive feature is that the shelf sits close to the wall (unlike the OmniMount ECSB Component Shelf for CRT TVs & Video Accessories, which protrudes much too far from the wall). I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a space saving wall shelf solution.Omnimount Tria 1 B 1-Shelf Wall Furniture (Black/Dark Glass) OmniMount Tria 1 B - 1 Shelf Wall Furniture (Black/Dark Glass)

Perfect if you have DVD Player only and don't need home theater or anything else to pur under your TV. Easy to install and adjust, and covers all wires. I would suggest to buy it from Amazon directly to avoid Shipping and Handling charges.

my only knock on it would be that there could be more wire concealer, but definitely not a dealbreaker especially for the price. It is strong enough to have a cable box and a dvd player stacked on it too, which is just what I wanted for child-proofing purposes.

I bought the Omnimount Tria 1 B 1-Shelf to hold my DVR and DVD player under my newly mounted 32" flat screen in my bedroom. It does the job I have asked of it! It took a bit longer to put together than I anticipated (I've put together loads of things before), but it was pretty easy (could have used better instructions, but that's a common complaint!). I couldn't put in a stud since I mounted it under center of my TV, but it seems sturdy using anchors.

My only complaint would be as another reviewer mentioned was the wire concealer. I have lots of wires and the mechanism for holding the wires in is a bit small and cumbersome thus making the cover a bit hard to snap in place. But other than that, it's pretty sturdy and looks good with my TV. So far it's holding a Tivo/DTV Receiver and a DVD player just fine.

I would recommend this product, but give yourself an hour or so to put it all together and get all the wires in place.

Ordered the Omnimount from a picture on Amazon and it arrived days before expected. It looks great on the wall. Easily mounted below my wall mounted HD TV in our billiard room. Good price, smart looking unit with dark glass shelf. Two screws and you are in. I give it 5 stars.

The shelves look great, and are very easy to install. They are sturdy, and can easily manage heavy and/or unevenly weighted equipment. My only comment is that each unit can hold up to 30 pounds, so if you are planning on using these shelves to mount multiple pieces of equipment, you should look into the Tria-2 Hanging A/V Shelf System (Two Shelves) - or the triple shelf unit. I bought three of these one shelves, but ended up combining two shelves on to one mounting brace since the two items didn't exceed the 30 lb max, and could easily stack without any height concerns (one of the tv units was my AV receiver, which is about 7 inches in height, so there was no spacing issue). - Wall Mount - Glass Tv Component Shelf - Shelf - Home Theater Component Shelf'

Clock Radio - alarms, alarm clock radio

The feature that automatically turns the display completely dark, then

illuminates it when a hand is waved over the device (no need to find a

button in the dark) convinced me to purchase this clock radio. There

would be no possibility to hear "That clock is too bright; I can't get

to sleep."

That works as designed. The problem is the clock beeps when the

display is activated. Want to check the alarm time? Wave your hand

three times: beep... beep...beep! It sounds like the alarm on my

watch, which is intended to catch my attention, but this is louder

than the watch. There is no option to suppress this sound, and it is

not affected by the volume control. This is a fatal flaw when there

is more than one sleeper in the room.

There is no station memory. If you want to tune a different station,

you have to manually turn a wheel to find the desired station. I am

accustomed to have at least half a dozen stations that can be set

once, then selected with a button press. This requirement for manual

tuning is a bother. No possibility of a quick change to hear a

weather or traffic report, then back to music or whatever.

This lack of station presets is especially bad when one wants an alarm

to start the radio instead of just make a noise. A better design

would let the user associate a specific station to be tuned when the

alarm time arrives. With this Jensen unit, if you use sleep mode to

play the radio while you fall asleep, you need to wake up and re-tune

to the station you want to hear at alarm time.

There is another problem this lack of digital station presets produces.

The manual tuning mechanism tends to drift. I found after I turned

off the radio, it would tune a slightly different frequency when

subsequently turned on. Sometimes, the drift would be large enough

that no station would be heard - a problem if the radio is silent when

it is supposed to wake you - a nuisance when you have to frequently

adjust the tuning just to hear the same station.

The volume control does not permit fine adjustment of loudness at low

levels. Perhaps the circuit designer did not consider an audio taper

potentiometer, or a packaging engineer did not realize only one of two

possible orientations for the volume control is correct. Whatever the

reason, I always had a hard time to find a setting between "silent"

and "too loud" in a quiet bedroom environment.

The single picture in the product description shows a silver case with

black display. In fact, most of the case is black plastic; only the

front half-inch or so is silver, the remaining two and one-half inches

is black. Black is not ugly, but it was an unwelcome surprise on my

brown wood table. Additional images that show side and rear views

would be helpful. I would contribute them, except I repacked my unit

in order to return it.

Why two stars with all these problems? The sound from this radio is

natural and better than I expected from a unit with this size and

price. Jensen JRC-275 AM/FM Dual Alarm Clock Radio with Wave Sensor (Silver)

I had to replace an older alarm clock that was zapped during a storm. I honestly was looking for best price for a dual alarm & came across this. Its a solid product. There are some neat features on here in addition to the dual alarm. The night light is semi-useful. I love the fact the display completely goes black if you want it too...this is great if you have trouble sleeping to the annoying glow of the clock numbers. The room temperature is also handy. Best feature hands down is the wave sensor/gesture. All you have to do is wave your hand over the top to have it snooze, or turn the clock on if its off. The only thing I'd like to see different is red digits/light. Otherwise, I'm digging it. Would highly recommend.

I was trying to find an alarm clock that was more modern looking and wasn't bulky. I found it in this alarm clock. VERY easy to set, small size (display is large and bright though), has the ability to dim light to lower setting. Wave your hand over the top once, the temperature in the room displays, wave your hand over 2 times and it will show you what the first alarm is set at, wave 3 times and it will show you what the second alarm is set at.

Volume control is very sensitive, sound is not the best but the stations that come in are fine with me. I'm not looking for superior sound quality for this price.

It works for me and I'm buying another for inside my bathroom because of the larger display and the compact size will fit right on my counter (I'm always running late because of shower time!)

first the positives:

- Well Made

- Stylish (somewhat)

- Great features (i.e Motion sensor)

But...

1. Extremely bright display, which lights the whole room at night (even with dimmer to lowest setting and with nightlight turned off). This could be overcome if you only use the motion sensor to see the time at night (though you will be blinded when it flashes on for a few seconds);

2. As mentioned in other reviews (and I stupidly ignored), when you do initiate the motion sensor to see the time, it always beeps. And not a soft, subtle beep, but a loud, sharp beep that woke-up my wife everytime, so that I was afraid to even check the time at night anymore. So really, what good is a clock if you can't turn it on to see the time?

Two fatal flaws to what could have been a really nice bedside clock... - Alarms - Alarm Clock Radio - Alarm Clock - Clock Radio'
