Battery Box

The only info to pass along is there are air vents on the top. That fact was not mentioned in the product description and the photo does not show the vents. I will be storing this outside in the rain so I'm going to seal those vents. Pretty hard to find a battery box that isn't vented on top. There is plenty of gap around the edge of the cover for venting. Otherwise it is a standard battery box made of a decent quality material. Seachoice 24 Series Battery Box'

Mac Software - office mac, os x

I don't know what happened between the last version of Office (which I hate, but use) and this new version (which I also hate, and ended up deleting and going back to old version) -- it is completely unstable.

This is not new to MS Office for Mac -- earlier versions (2004 etc) also crashed regularly, without saving your data, causing heartache and loss of data. That was generally fixed with MSO:M 2008 -- but guess what, the problem is back in MSO:M 2011 --

Very unstable - frequent crashes, and ultimately I had to delete this completely from my mac and reinstall my older versions of MS Office.

Not ready for prime time (even though it looks nice once you open Word or Excel). I would avoid this for now until we hear if this is fixed in future updates. Office for Mac Home & Student 2011 - 1 Pack

Running Word 2011 on a Macbook Air, I watched a 400+ page document turn completely into asterisks. Every single character. *********** I tried to undo typing with no luck (sometimes a word would show up, sometimes a sentence, but always the asterisks and never my entire document). I tried to copy and paste into a new document so I could reformat. I tried to autorecover--the entire Word 2011 autorecovery file was empty, though I've been using the update since it came out. I tried to use the auto back-up file from my desktop (for some reason, it only had data saved from two months ago). I called customer support (1-800 Microsoft), was disconnected twice, and finally emailed the pasted file to a woman who told me that the file was corrupted, that she had never heard of this happening before, and then she proceeded to lecture me about saving. When I told her that I hit save every five or ten minutes, back up to ME (cloud) twice a day, and that the data lost went back about an hour, she said maybe I should burn a disk as often as I can. And then I killed her. (Okay, I didn't kill her, but when I told her to have a good day, I didn't mean it BECAUSE I KNEW IT WAS NIGHT TIME IN INDIA WHEN I CALLED)

I am not normally the type to write product reviews, but I really felt compelled to warn others about this problem. I am back to my old Word program now. I don't trust 2011 not to crap out on me. This is absolutely the most frustrating and annoying thing that Microsoft has ever done to me. And that is saying a lot.

I eagerly anticipated the release of the new MS Office for Mac, but so far I have found nothing worth cheering about at all. In fact, the PowerPoint presenter feature doesn't work right at all on my MacBook Pro, and two universities' projection systems. I have been forced to use the old 2008 version which still works on those same said projection systems.

The improvements over Office 2008 are incredible. The Visual Basic toolbox is back, allowing many more functions (for example, a proper equation editor- essential for engineers).

The interface is almost directly in line with 2010 (for Windows)- very nice.

Also, its very quick. The applications launch MUCH faster than 2008 and everything is much snappier.

I have been using 2011 for 2 months now- never going back to 2008.

I remember when live was beautiful, everything was easy and amazing and you can do many statistical analysis in Excel, need a ANOVA analysis, no problem my Excel can do it, a regression analysis, no problem I can do it, and histogram or a uniform distribution, don't worried I can do that too. This happy days happened a long time ago in 2004. Then Microsoft lunch Office 2008 without warning us about the elimination of the visual basic in the new Excel spreadsheet, so many of us buy it and suddenly find we can not use macros, solver and the analysis tool pack, in other words all the coolest things that make Excel spreadsheet better than Open Office or Numbers or whatever. Then we have no other choice to remove the 2008 and install 2004 again what a joke and a total disrespectful way to treated us. Then we wait a long three years to see the come back of the visual basic in Excel, many wait patiently and when finally Microsoft announce this magnificent event is the year 2011 and surprise, surprise this 2011 office DON'T HAVE THE ANALYSIS TOOL PACK!!!!!!!

Come on!!!!!!!!! What happen with you guys in MacBu unit, what are you thinking my God, is anyone there pay attention in what we want or we have to wait another 3 years to see now the come back of the Analysis Tool Pack, come on, are you kidding, is this a terrible and sickness joke? And don't tell me I can use the garbage piece of crap StatPlus:mac LE. I want a native Excel program that runs in Excel in the same workbook I been using, come on I so angry, we wait for 3 years and this is what we get!!!!!!!! What a way to screw your costumers, I want my money back!!!!!! Why you just can't do it right for once in your live?

My copy of Office for Mac 2011 installed just fine, but when I got to the Product Activation step, I saw that there was no product key sticker anywhere in the packaging. It wasn't as though it was a used copy and the sticker had been ripped off; it a brand new copy, and it was clear that no product key sticker had ever been put on. Microsoft's customer service was the first phone call I made, and they were no help at all, so I ended up contacting Amazon and they allowed me to return it. Based on all the customer reviews here, I won't be ordering a new copy. I suppose Microsoft's defective packaging saved me from what sounds like a terrible software edition. On the bright side, Amazon's customer service in this case was really wonderful--prompt, understanding, and fair.

-The Good: Nice visual interface, some new functionalities are good additions, great compatibility with PC-made Office files (the only selling point that forced me to buy it);

-The Bad: High price. Most people don't use 40% of all the functionalities yet they pay full price. If I did not need perfect compatibility with my PC-using colleagues, I would have gone with the Apple softwares, which are enough for me and cheaper.

-The Ugly: I have at least one crash every single day, losing data and/or wasting time cleaning up the "recovered files". It looks like it happens often when I am Copying & Pasting several times in a row.

Overall, is it worth $120+? Heck no. - Excel - Office Mac - Word - Os X'

Point And Shoot - point and shoot, canon

...is one you'll have with you. The nice thing about the Canon ELPH series is they easily fit into your pocket, are well built/designed, don't cost a lot, come with a boatload of features, and take great pictures. The SD1300, the latest in the ELPH line continues in that tradition, adding considerable additional sophistication and sacrificing some useful functionality in the interest of cutting cost.

It is a small camera and carries with it the baggage that comes with the convenience of having to carry so little baggage. (sorry, couldn't resist) None of the issues raised, given that they comes as part of the convenience trade-off made me consider anything other than the 5-star rating this camera deserves.

- Many of the functions are only accessible through menus, sometimes several levels deep. The good new is the Automatic and scene modes are pretty good (as long as you spend a few minutes reviewing what they really do). This camera is not intended to be used in aperture or shutter priority, let alone full manual.

- The battery life might be shorter than you expect. That's a trade-off for having a camera that's small and light; you get a battery that is small and light. One thing you can do is get a spare battery. That is good advice for any camera. Another thing that will help is to keep the display off as much as possible. That means using the monitor as little as possible. The "sad" part is that Canon chose to drop the optical viewfinder in this model. That means a camera that is simpler and less expensive to make but will go through batteries quicker because you must use the display when taking picture.

- The camera response is a bit slow for effectively capturing children and pets. The trick for doing that is to either have a great sense of timing and a shutter that reacts instantly or a reasonably fast ( > 4x / sec ) burst mode. This camera has neither.

Some other suggestions that apply:

- Use the lowest ISO available given your requirement for either aperture or shutter speed. To avoid getting technical, higher ISO always introduces higher noise. At issue is when it becomes noticeable. In newer dSLR cameras you can get over 1000, maybe well over depending on the camera, before the noise becomes noticeable. For this camera keeping it at or below 200 is a good idea.

- Don't use in-camera sharpening. Digital pictures will almost always benefit from sharpening but you are better off doing it with a photo editing program. Computer-based algorithms tend to be more sophisticated and you can better judge the results on your monitor as opposed to the camera LCD.

- If you want more vivid colors and have the choice use sRGB instead of Adobe RGB. While you get fewer colors they are distributed over a wider range. They are also render better on computer monitors, many commercial labs, and any other place your pictures are likely to show up.

Finally, I've found the Caselogic QPB-1 Compact Digital Camera Case (Black/Gray) is just the right size for this camera. It's semi-rigid so you get a fair amount of protection but doesn't add a lot of bulk. It's made even better by using one of these, Nite Ize SB1-2PK-01 Size-1 S-Biner, Black, 2-Pack, to secure it to a belt loop.

BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews can take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and work hard to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and if there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it. Canon PowerShot SD1300IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 4x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD (Blue)

I will try to share some things I have discovered about this camera, these are just my thoughts, I hope they might be of help .

Some things I am compairing to a canon SD1200 and the SD940, SD1400.

I do not use the viedo enough to judge that part of the cameras.

** No SD memory card included with this camera **, see below

* Some will miss the eye viewfinder that the SD1200 has.

* Some will miss the HD 720p in the movie mode that the SD940,SD1400 has, The SD1300 has 640x480 at 30fps like the canon SD1200, G11 and S90.

* The SD1300 has ( no optical zoom while recording video ) just digital zoom.

* There is a date feature on the SD1300, see below

* The flat button arangement is the same as the SD1200 all but the (( Power Button )) on top is larger and easier to turn on and off, I like that ( but be careful ) it does not come on in your pocket, purse or in your soft camera case.

* I have not had any trouble using any of the buttons even with my big old hands. The flat buttons on the SD1300 are a ( tad larger than on the SD940 and SD1400 ).

* The menu screens are large and very easy to read and use.*

* You get a 2.7inch very clear LCD screen that has a (very good and wide viewing angle in all directions).

Note > when your LCD screen is set to a lower brightness you can push and hold down the display button for 1 second and it will go to the brightest setting and do that again and it will go back to the lower setting...

A 28mm x 112mm lens, a little better than the 35 x 105 on the SD1200 ( But no view finder on the SD1300 ).

* The SD1300 is very easy to use and small enough to carry every place you go for those spontaneous grand kid pictures like the SD 1200 was .

Just a very good basic camera.

* I like that the mic for the video is in the front of the camera instead of being on the top (where I put my finger) like the canon SD970 and others, it picks up less finger movement noise being in the front.

** Timing and Performance** ( Using program mode )> Very fast start up time of just over 1 sec.

I can not tell any difference in shot to shot or flash shot to shot times between the SD1300 and the SD1200 using them in the program mode, which is ( 2secs with out the flash ), and 3 to 4secs with the flash on, (( up to 6secs for full flash recharge )).

(Update > Some of review sites(C-NET) are getting around 2.7 to 3 seconds for the SD1300 between shots with out the flash so I grabed the two cameras and tryed the two again(SD1300 SD1200) with and with out the flash on and I had the same results both ways, ((I used program mode)) both times and they would focus and recharge the flash evenly also...)

Shutter lag is good for a canon point and shoot but if you ( pre focus ) that will help even more. To pre focas > > Push shutter button down half way untill camera beeps and green square apears on LCD screen, picture should be clearly in focas at this point, if not let up on the shutter button and repeat the steps again. these steps will also help take a good clear (in focas) picture, just something for you to try if your having trouble getting your picture.

I never tested the continuous shooting( but see my battery test) but canon says it is 0.9 per sec where the sd 1200 is 1.4 shots per sec, if that is important to you. UPDATE > The 1200 does seem to be faster, quicker than the 1300 in continuous mode, how much I dont know but you can tell the difference...

* (Battery) I did test the battery (NB-6L same battery as SD1200) by using continuous shooting mode ( with the flash on ) and got well over 400 pictures and it was taking ( 1 picture every 2 seconds or less in the continuous mode( flash on ) if that helps you out on the continuous shooting part, and when I turned the flash off it seemed to do prety good coming from a newer small canon point and shoot world.

* (Battery life). In real life I get around 300 or more pictures with some of them using the flash, your still need a second battery for a backup.

* The battery has a little larger capacity at 1000mAh in the SD1300, were as the canon SD940 and the SD1400 is a smaller capacity at 760mAh if that matters to you.

** A nice backup battery is a (power2000) for canon NB-6L (1200mAh)$19.00. I have used them for years.

I really like the battery charger that comes with the camera, it is small and charges quickley, about one and a half hours the very first charge and then one hour or less there after...

Some set back the brightness of the LCD a couple of notches to save some battery. I think your new battery will do better after the first couple of charges.

* 10/30/2010 At the Columbus zoo we shot 350 pictures and a lot of them with flash on with one charge...

** Very good image quality keeping the iso at 200 and below.

I am getting about the same image quality as the SD 1200 which is very good for this small size point and shoot camera.

* As point and shoots get better we often try and compare them to digital SLRs ( speed, noise, ISOs, picture quality ) but because of the point and shoots very small sensors and craming all those mega pixels into them it is just asking to much of the little cameras....

Fewer pixels mean there's more room on the sensor and the individual pixels can be made larger to gather more light, making the camera better able to record low-noise images in low-light situations.

This is just me, but I like using the program mode and 100,200iso best and I try not to use the auto mode indoors ((auto works good outdoors in good light though, Lighting is everything. Indoors alot of times auto seems to want to use a (very high iso)(and sometimes no flash) to get low light photos, but this just results in more noise, which makes your pictures look noisy grainy or snowy looking on larger prints,(or the yellow tint that some are talking about).

* I use program mode and set the iso indoors to (( 100iso ))in good light conditions or ( 200 iso ) in poorer light indoors for the best image quality indoors with out all noise in the picture. Again auto does good outdoors in good light but keep your eye on the iso in auto indoors...

* Portrait mode does better indoors than auto in keeping the iso down. It uses 200iso and below. not bad...

*They also have taken away the supper fine quality option for the last couple of years , you just have fine and normal now, I miss the supper fine option...

The more I use this camera the more I find myself useing ( 100iso in program mode ) in good light conditions indoors or outdoors). Again indoors you might have to use 200 to get the picture you like...

** Just a side note, before judgeing the camera and your picture quality on your computer or camera screen get some pictures printed out, why I say this I thought the pictures that I took at the rest home were just ok, but I took them to the store and had 8 by 10s made and they look so so much better, you can see these pictures on this site under (view and share images on the SD1300s home page). I wish you could see the printed ones...

* A lot of the review sites blow there pictures way up and look for defects, your likely to only make 5x7 or 8x10s and not see (what they see).

If you are going to make larger prints or need a better (low light camera) and still stay in a point and shoot you could go with a canon S90, S95 or the bigger G11, G12, but (much more money I know)! Just keep the iso down at 200 and below and you will do fine...)

* The SD1300 seems to have a nice sharp lens even at the telephoto end of the zoom.

Highlights sometimes tend to blow out in very bright sun (direct light source) as with all small cameras(small sensor) this size, you can see this in some of the pictures I posted on this sight for the 1300. ( But to be fair my G11 does this also ).

I do not use I-Contrast in the program mode while shooting, some times in play back I will try it but I am not a big fan of it even then, it will brighten the picture up in dark areas but seems to increase the noise a little, again this is just me alot of people seem to like it and have good luck with it see what you think...

In auto mode you have no controll of I-Contrast and can not turn it off or on...

* I just realy like the colors in the pictures that the canon cameras produce, again thats just me thinking out loud.

Not much problem with red eye in pictures useing the SD1300 unless in a very dim lit room and there are some times when it can not modify or fix it in red-eye correction,

I have many small newer canon cameras and it is no worse or better with red eye than the rest of my newer cameras with red eye correction.

The SD1300 has a touch more style, larger LCD and a little more virsatle lens than the SD1200, but the 1200 is also a very good camera.

The SD1300 does have a weak battery door cover like the SD1200.

*No Memory card * You do not get a (SD Memory Card) with the camera, they just do not include a card anymore, just be aware so you won't be with out one.

A 4gb card ( class 4 or class 6 ) would be a good place to start (if your going to use the movie mode any at all ).

You could get by with a 2gb ( which is good for about 632 pictures ) if not using the video mode much.

A 4gig SD card would be good for 1,231 pictures.

* If your new to this digital camera stuff remember to low level format the SD card first thing.

( Save your pictures first, doing this will also erase all your pictures. )

* I have used the SD1300 for about 12 months now and is holding up very well.

* There is a date feature on the SD1300, it shows up on the right side at the bottom of the picture.

You can see it when reviewing the photo...

Push menu button and scroll down, it is the very last idem there, You have 3 choices,(off), (date), (date and time)...

When you go to take your picture your screen will have the word (DATE) on the screen above the iso reading, right side at bottom so you will know it is on...

* I carry my camera in a little phone case that has a belt clip not a loop for fast & easy on and off the belt.

* OK, your right I could lose it that way...

I definitely recommend picking up a small camera case for protection, watch out for cases using velco, the velco likes to grab ahold of you camera strap and not let go.

I also like theLowepro Apex 20 AW (Black) CASE it has room for spare battery, sd card cable, cleaning cloth). It has a little rain coat also. Good for hikers and backpackers.

The Lowepro Napoli 20 case is very nice but no room for spare battery on this one and could let dust in case, not fully inclosed.

** Casecrown ( SD1300IS 12 MP Digital Camera Carrying CaseCrown Black ) < I like these alot > Canon PowerShot SD1300IS 12 MP Digital Camera Carrying CaseCrown Compact Travel Case (Black)

Canon PowerShot SD1300IS 12 MP Digital Camera Carrying CaseCrown Compact Travel Case (Crimson) < < See my reviews on these if you have the time > >CaseCrown Protective Compact Travel Camera Case (Grey) for Canon PowerShot SD1300IS 12 MP Digital Camera

Be carefull of some of the canon cases, the metal magnet catch on the flap might or could scratch the cameras LCD screen takeing it out or puting it in the case (just my thoughts).. I am sure alot people like them and have good luck with them, this is just my opinion, The canon case I have (Canon PSC-55 Deluxe Leather Compact Case) has no room for a spare sd card or spare battery if that would help you any.

These are very nice and roomy cases, with alot of storage > Case Logic DCB-302 Compact Camera Case (Black)

Case Logic DCB-302 Compact Camera Case (Gray)

One more case to look at Case Logic QPB-201 EVA Molded Compact Camera Case (Black) Only one zipper on this one and xtra battery seems to slide out of case a tad to freely .

* In the menu mode I set the I S mode to continous.

The display overlay to grid lines(the grid lines help me take straighter pictures, you may use it for the 1/3 rule also).

I set review to 2seconds,

AF-assist beam to on,

Review info to off,

Lens retract to 0 seconds.

White ballance to auto, if this would be of any help to you.

I like using continuous shooting mode alot also.

I like to set the AF (auto focas) frame

to center (some times) instead of face AiAF and just shoot (focas) on what ever that I am shooting , this is found in the main menu setting, Again this is just me dont take this advice to the bank but check it out if you want or have the time...

I posted some pictures on this site ( see > View and share related images on main page ) for the SD1300, to give you some idea about how your pictures would look (color - sharpness - moving shots - iso noise in pictures - zooms - modes - cropped pictures), if that would help.

* Please look at everybodys pictures to see what you think before you buy the SD1300.

(( Please if mine pictures are not helpful vote them down and I will delete those, I need to delete a lot of them, please help me out here, Thanks...)

If you have any questions I will try to answer them the best I can, no camera is perfect...well not many.

My favorite SD point & shoot was a canon SD550, SD850, SD880, I thought the SD1100 and SD870 were very good looking cameras but never had a chance to use one of them, what was your fav canon SD...

I mostly take pictures of bear in the Smokey Mountians (CADES COVE) and love chaseing the grand kids around taking their pictures. ( And this year the Outter Banks NC ).

Update 2/3/2011 > The new replacement camera for the SD1300 is being called a Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS 12 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 4X Optical Zoom (Grey)

Comes in 5 colors (Blue, Silver, Grey, Pink and Orange)

Note one of many changes is that they did change the battery used to a NB-4L 760mAh from the NB-6L 1000mAh battery if that would be any of help.

Many other interesting changes also, some are good and some not so good , Alot of bells and whistles on this one, check it out... - Canon - Powershot - Point And Shoot - Compact'

Garmin Nuvi 265wt - 255w, gps

I actually could not decide between the Garmin Nuvi 255w or the 750 model, so I decided to buy them both for comparison. I mounted them both to my car windshield and gave them various addresses to find together. I found that both models took the same routes and announced upcoming turns and street names at practically the same time. One thing I noticed about the 255w was that it was updating my position on the road more often, I'd say about 3 times as often as the 750. This made for smoother graphics on the 255w of the vehicle moving along displayed roads, where the 750's display was more of a "jerky" movement. I also found that the display on the 255w was a bit brighter, clearer, and more vivid than on the 750 in both daylight and at night. Another feature I like on the 255w is the graphic turn indicator in the upper left corner, which the 750 lacks. This is a small arrow which shows upcoming turns and the distance to that turn. It also show things like a fork in the road, (ie: a Y intersection), and which fork you will be taking. The 750 just displays text on the top line for upcoming turns without the arrow. It's just a little extra feature on the 255w which I happened to really like. The 255 also automatically adjusts the font size of displayed text so that even lengthy text will fit.

Another feature on the 255w is a display of the posted speed limit on the road which you are currently on right above your current displayed speed. I found myself not even looking at my car speedometer as I could easily see my current speed and the speed limit of my route at a glance. The 750 doesn't have this feature. I also like how they moved the zoom in (+) and zoom out (-) buttons on the 255w to the same side of the screen which makes it a bit easier. On the 750 the zoom buttons are on opposite sides of the screen.

Now there are some features on the 750 that the 255w does not have. The 750 can broadcast it's sound over your FM radio with the supplied cigarette lighter cable, and it has a headphone jack, which I found to be nice features. The 750 also has an MP3 player and an Audio-book player, which the 255w does not. Another really nice feature of the 750 is the car locater. This is a great feature if you are parking in a really big lot, such as at an amusement park or a fair. The 750 marks your location when you remove it from the car, then you take it with you and it remembers where you parked and takes you right back to your car. The 255w doesn't have the car locater.

I also thought the the voice prompts of the 750 where more pleasant sounding than the 255w's. The 750 sounds more like a real female voice, where the 255w sounds more robotic.

Another thing to consider was that I paid $50 less for the 750 and it came with the FM transmitter cable and a USB cord to connect it to your computer for updates and downloads.

My final decision was to keep the 255w and return the 750 because I really liked the graphic turn indicator and the posted speed limit and current speed indicators. I didn't find a need for the 750's MP3 player and Audio book player, but that is up to personal preference. Since the USB cable was not included with the 255w, I purchased it on this site for $10. I also intend to purchase the MSN direct cable when it is available in August 2008. Garmin nüvi 255W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator with Accessory Bundle

If you spend much time driving in unfamiliar territory, especially if you rent cars in big cities, a good portable GPS makes an amazing difference. And the Garmin 255W is the best one I could find in the $250 - $350 range.

First this thing just plain works. I haven't had any issues with mine. It was easy to set up and figure out right out of the box, and it's easy to use. It never has had trouble getting sufficient signal unlike earlier and cheaper models.

I chose the 255W for several reasons: It uses some of the newest and best maps available. It has one of the more usable touch screens for entering destinations. It's fast to acquire satellites. And Garmin almost always comes out on top in reviews--especially in routing.

Ultimately, you buy a car GPS to get you from Point A to Point B as easily and efficiently as possible. And that's what the 255W does best. If you've ever had a "Brand X" GPS take you on some strange route that adds 20 minutes to your trip, has you turn the wrong way down a one way road, tell you to turn AFTER you've passed the street, frequently loses the satellite signal, or has old maps missing streets, you know how important this stuff is.

The 255W has a really clear display that's easy to see in any light. It's small enough to use on foot. The windshield mount works great and it's easy to toss in the glovebox when you park. It even tells you the speed limit on most roads. The "points of interest" feature works very well to find places to eat by type of cuisine, gas stations, etc.

The difference between the 255W and 205W is the 255 speaks street names and includes Alaska and Canada. The 205 and 205W will tell you to "turn right in 500 feet" which isn't as helpful or obvious as "turn right on Ivy Street in 500 feet". The "W" models are widescreen which makes entering destinations easier due to having a bigger "keyboard" and also lets you see more map area while driving.

All in all this isn't the cheapest GPS in its class but it's one of the best. My only gripe is you need an expensive add-on to get live traffic data--something that's included with the Magellan Roadmate 1430 which is close to the same price. But the Garmin 255W is a better GPS in every other way. - 255w - Large Screen - Gps - Garmin Nuvi'

Sharpie - wandas evil scheme

I agree with other reviewer, these are more easily fitted to your hand. If you work a lot with Sharpies I recommend this type, they cradle right inbetween thumb and forefinger. And I think they may last longer considering they are larger, might have more ink inside? Sharpie Chisel Tip Permanent Markers: 2 Black Markers. Sanford Model 38262

I have always really liked Sharpies. Except for shape, size, color, they are pretty much the same. They make a Sharpie for every need. What sets these apart is that they are not round in shape so they may be more comfortable to use for some people. Other than that it's as usual a great permanent marker.

There's not a whole lot to say about these Sharpies. They get the job done on a larger scale basically. They are great for making signs and are useful to just have around in case you want to make a spur of the moment proclamation to the world on a piece of paper without the need for vocal aid. For instance when a friend of mine turned 20 I wrote a sign that said "Happy Birthday!" on a piece of copy paper, took a picture of it and sent it to her as an mms. She liked it and I can't be happier about the product. Bottom line, it's cheap and easy and you might find yourself missing out on all kinds of sign opportunities if you don't have some around! - Wandas Evil Scheme'

Shooting Glasses - shooting glasses, safety glasses

The Escort Safety Glasses work very well for me. I have a small to medium pair of framed prescription glasses and the fit is great. If you use bigger frames, I'm not sure the fit will be as good but another reviewer can answer that. I have been looking for awhile for a pair of these and decided to try the ones from Amazon. I'm glad I did. They wrap around nicely, don't cost very much and by far the most important, they protect my real glasses. A fine product and well made. Escort Safety Glasses Fits Over Most Prescription Eyewear Clear Lenses

I bought these thinking that I could use them to play squash or racquetball. They do fit over my regular glasses but unfortunately the frame blocks too much of my peripheral vision when I wear them. So I can not really use them.

For other purposes they do what they are supposed to do.

First of all, the product came very fast. The lenses are crystal clear, and they work really well over my glasses. They look a little funny, but most guys who are doing thing that require safety glasses don't really care what others think. For the price, you can't beat these. I have only used them indoor range shooting, so I can't tell you how well they can take a beating, but they are perfect for that use.

I struggle with how to review these glasses. First off, like any "safety glass" they look ugly. But I feel like I have to give extra minus points to these frames. They are the most ugly, god awful, GINORMOUS glasses I have ever seen.

I got these frames so I could go shooting or hunting with my glasses on. Alone in the woods is about the only place I can see me putting these on.

Functionally they work well. They fit my glasses nicely and I have an above average head. When you put them on there is hardly any play in my glasses. I have to shake my head really (really) hard to get them to wiggle. The frames are really wide and don't "wrap" so I am guessing they will not fit well with ear protection.

So I guess the glasses are good and work well (maybe not so much with ear muffs), but you will look like a total dweeb in public.

I bought the glasses for eye protection when shooting at an indoor range. These safety glasses work fine. Because they sit outside of my glasses, they don't fog up.

My only knock against them is they don't cover the entire lens of my glasses. My prescription glasses do not have small elliptical lenses. My glasses are large. However, I knew this was going to be the case when I bought them because of their size. Their being smaller than my lenses does not affect my shooting, so other than looking odd to someone else when they see me with them, there is no down side.

This is an inexpensive, easy solution for glasses wearers to get better eye protection in and beyond the shop. These are the nice cross between goggles (fog up too easily) and just wearing regular glasses (some chips and dust can get in the edges). I like 'em so much I bought a pair in smoke to wear over glasses in the yard, despite the jeers from neighbors and the love of my life that they look like eye surgery glasses. Since beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and I would like to keep mine, I think they look just fine.

I purchased these for protection over my prescription glasses while shooting at the indoor range.

These Escort glasses don't work for me as they don't fit my glasses well which makes them sit slightly off the face.

The gaps at the tops and sides this causes partially defeats the purpose of them to protect from ejected shell casings falling behind the glasses and striking the eye.

Also, due to them not fitting that well I am very aware of the heavy black framing in my peripheral vision.

The thick black framing also gives a 1950 era nerd look I don't like.

The Allen fitover shooting glasses I purchased are way better in fit, protection and looks and I'll be looking to give these Escorts away.

If you wear very small rimmed glasses that can fit under these Escorts so they fit close to the face and don't mind the nerdy look they will work fine for shooting protection, but if you have average to large framed glasses or are at all vain, pass these by. - Safety Glasses - Shooting Glasses'

Universal Laptop Charger - universal laptop ac adapter, notebook power adapters

My puppy chewed up my laptop charger and I needed a quick fix without having to spend too much. The shipping was extremely fast and the product was great, but after a week it stopped working. I have to spend about 20 minutes every time positioning my laptop so that it will charge. I would recommend spending the extra money for a better charger. Universal AC Adapter/Power Supply/Charger Cord for Toshiba Laptop 90w

I have owned this product for alittle over a month and I have not had any problems with it. My computer is about 5 years old and the battery doesn't hold charge, so I have keep the charger plugged in constantly. I have NOT had any problems with pieces being broken or loose as I had read previously. I am very happy with the use I am getting out of this computer charger. NO PROBLEMS HERE!

The item arrived fast and packaged well. It worked as one of the tips fit my laptop. You will need to be careful with it after a week or so of moving the laptop around and plugging and unplugging laptop the tip worked loose and no longer supplied power without alot of wiggling it around.

I looked at the product reviews before purchasing and I wasn't sure if i should have bought this charger especially since it was less than 10 dollars!

But now I own this computer charger now and it SUCKS!!! I have used 2 tips since 2 fit my computer and they both gave me the same problems. I have to move the tip around in circles to find where it will charge for the time being and it has to stay in that position the whole time without moving to make it charge.

I do not recommend buying this charger.

This product was a huge piece of garbage. The adapter would not stay plugged into the back of my computer. We had to keep moving the cords around in order for the lights to go on and charge the computer. It lasted about 2 weeks then we couldn't handle the dumb thing so we don't even try to use it any more. It basically will not charge my computer unless I hold the adapter plug just right into the back of my computer and let it charge. Waste of money.

I needed a universal charger cord for my Toshiba laptop when mine stopped working(they didn't sell one for my laptop anymore). I looked at multiple places but it was like $90. I'm very happy with this purchase it works great! - Battery Charger - Universal Laptop Ac Adapter - Toshiba Satellite Ac Adapter - Notebook Power Adapters'

32 Inch 1080p - 120hz, 37 inch

This set is way better than i expected. Picture quality, color and contrast are stunning. I purchased this set for my son after reseaching every set in the 40" range. Last years sony hx800,which blows away this years ex720,was the top contender until i found this set. I watched avatar 3D on this and the VT25 plasma and saw little difference. I also watched basketball in 3D on directv and experienced no motion blurr. I looked very hard for flashlighting and blooming but saw none. Positioning the leds on the top and bottom seems to work very well. My son played black ops and killzone 3 in 3D and we both were very impressed. I wish they made this in a 55'. I'm waiting on the xbr hx929 to come out. I saw the sammy und8000 at my buddy's house. I was not impressed. I like this panasonic better. The wifi dongle connected to my dir-655 flawlessly. The internet works but we we will never use it. My son and i both have htpc's connected to our sets which makes the tvs connection unnecessary. I am very pleased with this set and am glad i found it. It's not talked about very much but worth more than it costs. Top performer in my opinion. Panasonic VIERA TC-L37DT30 37-Inch 1080p 3D LED HDTV

I bought this tv to replace my bedroom tv, which was previously a 32" LG. The color on this TV is very vibrant and bright and has nice picture all in all.

The 2d->3d feature is borderline useless. It adds very little depth at the cost of brightness, clarity, and sharpness. The 3d feature itself is nice, however I have yet to watch an actual 3d Blu-Ray movie on it due to the limited selection presently. The only actual 3d supported media is with Black Ops and Killzone 3 (both ps3 games) and on those it adds a very nice 3d effect, but once again i find it more of a novelty as it doesnt actually help you in any way shape or form and just ends up tiring out my eyes, but still a nice feature.

The 240hz reduces motion blur alot more but doesnt get rid of it completely. It is leaps and bounds better than my old 60hz LG and 120hz Samsung however. (I had a side by side comparison with my LG and Samsung watching the Masters)

The picture options were plentiful and allows you to change all the hues and colors to your liking. The remote is sorta cheap (arent they always?) but it gets the job done. It is missing a profile button on the remote though (the button that changes from Standard, Cinema, Custom, Vivid etc...) and I find it annoying to go into the menu everytime to change it. (I like to play games on a higher brightness than when watching TV).

I do wish the power cord was independent of the TV but thats not really a big concern.

The slim frame of the TV is very nice and looks amazing if you hang it on the wall. The IPS Panel is very glossy and gets dirty VERY easily (fingerprint/dust magnet). I find this TV very glare resistant too, much more so than my old LG. The auto brightness calibrator is very good too, especially at night.

On a side note I also use to TV as my laptop monitor since my laptop has hdmi out and initially there was no sound and i had to update my VIDEO card drivers to get sound back. So if you have that problem try updating as this is a really new TV Model. (4/15/2011)

All in all for the $1044 its totally worth it and a fantastic 3d TV.

I originally ordered this set in Mid-May and had it shipped via Amazon Prime, It arrived in a very timely manner and I immediately unboxed it and hung it on my wall.

The first thing I did was plug everything in and make sure it works. It did without problem. I ended up having to go out and on the way home rented a 3D Movie to play via Playstation 3 to the television. I got home, popped it in, set up the 3D glasses and settings and was AMAZED at how great the picture was. The blacks are truly BLACK (To the point where all black screens made me do a double take, thinking I turned the television off) and the colors were vibrant. I bought this blindly thinking "Hey 3D Might be cool" but have to say I am completely hooked on it now!

The next day I plugged in my laptop via HDMI and ran a few tests, Input lag and dead pixels mainly (Input lag will be covered later). I noticed a problem...

Two dead pixels, One fully black on red images and the other black no matter the color.

I called Amazon and was met with a very nice representative who helped me get a replacement shipped under the agreement I'd ship the current set back when I received the replacement. She even upgraded my shipping to 1 day (Because I called on a Friday I guess and they couldn't ship until Monday).

I received the replacement 7 days ago and after unboxing it and testing (once again) for input lag, flashlighting (uneven backlight), or dead pixels I saw no issues. The original television I got must've been an uncommon mistake.

Over the course of the first few days having it I decided to get a calibration disk (after deciding I'd keep it) to REALLY see what this baby could do.

After 2-3 hours of calibrating I was WOWED once again by how beautiful and picture perfect the image quality, blacks, and colors were. Everything looks natural and "just right".

So, All in all I'm VERY impressed and happy with this product, The colors and image quality were far superior to anything I saw at my retail store (Which, ironically, sells this television for $400 more). Having now played through a few games on it, watched a few movies and done just about everything I could imagine myself doing I can't find a single REAL fault that would make me think twice about getting this again.

INPUT LAG: I know this isn't covered in most reviews and this is SPECIFICALLY why I went with this television. The input lag is non existent. That isn't me telling you "I don't see it while gaming"... That's me telling you after testing it thoroughly. Input lag versus a CRT in Game Mode was an average of 16ms, One frame or less of lag. I've used this with a mouse and keyboard (which should feel it best out of anything, though the tests say it themselves) and there was nothing. Nada. Fighting games? SSF4, Tekken, and Mortal Kombat all felt or saw nothing. FPS games had the same performance. This set has been ran for gaming on a PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 and all of them are brilliantly flawless in performance via HDMI. This was NOT the same experience of my former HDTV.

PROS:

-AMAZING Picture Quality

-Completely even backlighting

-NO Input Lag AT ALL

-IPS Panel

-Fully featured settings list

-3D Performance is mindblowing

-Not a single dead pixel on the replacement

-VERY Sturdy Construction compared to other designs

CONS:

-Power cable doesn't detach from the television, Not a problem for me but might be for others

-Original unit had multiple dead pixels

OTHER COMMENTS:

-Be sure to note that the screen and bezel are both GLOSSY, Some people are bothered by this but I personally think it looks great!

This has been rated 4 out of 5 stars because of the pixel problems with the original unit, though I fully recommend this set now that I have one of proper quality. - Led - 120hz - 37 Inch - 37 Inch Lcd'

Xbox 360 Headset - xbox 360 headset, headphones

--I needed a nice headset for late night gaming. (As to not wake the neigbors, and what not) I searched for the best, which would probably be the Astro headset. However, the price, at almost $300 put me off abit. The tritton 720's, a nice quality headset for a nice price. I bought these for my PS3 only. The features:

1) Sturdy quality

2) Microphone, solid and bendable

3) comfort level is a 9 (headset is a little heavy) but not terrible, no neck fatigue, or head aches, even after long hours of game play, but I do get up to fix drink, rest room...etc.

4) Speaker volume, microphone volume/mute (both are seperately controlled), very nice...sometimes you wanna play with your buds, sometimes you want strangers to shut up. *flip the switch...all you got is game sound!

5) I find the controls and set up very easy to use and manage. Nothing is complicated or cumbersome. *note this is NOT a wireless headset. The wire is nice and long, got the voice control velcroed to the side of my Lazy-boy. Plenty of wire to not compromise my mobility. On a surpising note...I can actually hear other things going on in the house, phone ringing, doorbell, etc... I thought for sure I would be closed off to the world..NOT SO!

6) Head phones are very nice and comfy. Surrounds the ENTIRE ear! One bad note, it seems the padding comes off a little too easy. So far it isn't anoying (yet) But I have to pull the head phones apart then take the set off. Do not recommend that you just pull them off of your head. --this almost cost it a star...it still might.

I have read over many reviews, including Amazon that the next version up of this headset, which is $200, is nothing but problems...that was a main decsion factor in my purchase of this headset. Also finding a PS3 compatible headset seemed to be kind of an issue. Other thoughts:

1) movie watching...very nice, sound quality is good, bass is nice...no complaints. Is it the same as your surround sound set? Hell no! But a wonderful compromise for late night gaming or movie watching in private.

2) Music? don't know, don't care...not the purpose of these headphones. Not what they are advertised for or for what they are intended. I play games and watch/listen to the occasional movie with them. For this purpose, they fit the bill, the price is right, the quality is solid.

Setup:

I found the installation to be easy and straightforward (PS3) Took all of 4 mins to install and play! Literally plug and play! The directions are superb!

Final thought: Two thumbs up. If you are looking for a quality, working, easy set-up gaming head phone, look no further. The price is perfect. These are my first headphones..so I am not sure about the others, but I like these and hope that they last awhile. If they dont, I will be getting the Astro's. I have had these for over two months, so far good so good. Tritton TRIAX-720 AX 720 Dolby Digital Surround Sound

I've been trying to decide on a gaming headset for Modern Warfare and other FPS for a while and researched many products. I even tried a few. I started out with the Ear Force X41 and while they were great for the surround sound effect, I found the quality very lacking (tinny) and sometimes painful (crackling, popping, hissing, you name it). I also liked that it was wireless... until I used it for a few days. After three, 3-4 hour sessions, the battery was dead. I have plenty of rechargeables but I just didn't like having the headsets go out during a match and then having to find replacement batteries (and getting killed in the process). Being wireless is a convenience and a nuisance at the same time.

Then I tried the Ear Force PX21 because it was able to connect to PC, PS3, and 360, all of which I play on. BUT, there was no surround effect to speak of.. at least none that I could detect. The quality was there but just in stereo. Not much else to say about it.

Lastly, I ordered the Tritton AX 720. What a difference from the PX21 and the X41. It's better than the PX21 because it does have surround and can connect to all 3 systems. It's better than the X41 in sound quality. I'm not an audiophile but these had much warmer lows and cleaner highs that was clearly noticeable from the X41. I immediately returned both of the previous headsets. The surround sound on the AX 720 is there and very noticeable. I found myself instinctively turning toward footsteps before I saw them. The only thing the X41 has is the chat boot feature... but I haven't had any issues talking to my friend in-game with the 720s.

Now, I set about 6 feet away from the TV in my office and the wire from the volume control to the audio processor doesn't get in my way. The wireless headsets out there including the X41 only removes that one wire from the volume control to the audio processor. You still need the volume control and the mic cable to your controller if you're on the 360. Not a big deal for me... the crackling, popping, and hissing was.

Aside for all that, here's the most important reason I like the 720s... I wear glasses and anyone who does can attest to the fact that over-the-ear headsets can be painful! The X41 are a good example. The cups pressed on my rather large ears and onto the stems on the glasses. At first, it was unnoticeable but after a couple of hours, I had to take my glasses off and hang them over the cups so I could still see (at an odd angle no less). My ears and the skin behind them were sore from the pressure. The PX21s led to the same effect.

I don't know what it is with the AX 720s but they designed a great headset for glass wearing geeks. They don't press on my ears or the stems on the glasses AT ALL! Most of the pressure (which isn't much) come from the top rim of the soft cups so the rest of the cup doesn't seem to apply that much pressure. I've gamed for 8hours with my glasses on without any pain. It's a miracle!

Just for those interested, I also was looking at the Tritton AX Pro for the discreet adjustments you can make on each channel. I'm wondering if that would make an even bigger difference in noticing the surround sound effects. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't sell them directly as well as costing $70 more, and returns with 3rd party sellers are a pain. I also, just yesterday, came across the Sharkoon Xstatic 5.1 which seems exactly like the Tritton AX Pro as far as the audio processor goes down to the volume control module (but about $30 less or $40 more than the AX 720) ...hmmm. They're either a sister company or someone's going to get sued for patent infringement. lol

All in all, you can't go wrong with the AX 720... especially if you wear glasses. - Surround Sound - Playstation 3 - Headphones - Xbox 360 Headset'

Garmin Friction Mount - garmin mount, dashboard mount

After doing hours of research for a dash mount for my Garmin Nuvi 205w, I decided to give this one a try, and so glad that I did. I looked at the bean bag one and this one, and really wanted a smaller footprint and less bulky mount to put up on my dash. I was concerned about this mount and it rolling, flipping, or tumbling off the dash. To my surprise and delight it never moved !! I have tried it in both of our cars, even used it in the van for our vacation. Fits all three and sits there holding it's position. Some have made notes about a residue that is left behind, I experienced this in 2 of our vehicles, but when I cleaned the car and wiped the dash down, the `residue' was gone. Most likely from the silicone bottom on the mount that holds it in place. Love the flexibility and the fact that you can bent this mount to contour to your dash, and then the swivel mount allows you to adjust the Garmin to see it at any angle. Mounted in my car I took a few corners hard to try and tumble the mount w/ the Garmin, but no luck, it just sat there telling me where to go "literally". Granted I am sure you can tumble it of the dash if you hit a hard core bump or drive erratically, but everyday driving & circumstances it does it's job. If the bottom silicone gets icky from lint, dirt, debris, all you have to do is wipe it down with a cloth and good as new !!

Love the look, the small foot print, and the flexibility. I would recommend this mount to anyone that is looking for a more stylish, but completely functional dash mount, that can go with you most anywhere and in any vehicle.

Loving my Garmin Mount & Garmin Nuvi 205W... Garmin Friction Mount

Got it to replace the Garmin bean bag friction mount. The base of this unit allows twisting to conform to the curves and contour of the dash.

This base will not move on the dash as it has a "sticky" base, however, the base and the mounted GPS toppled and rolled off my dash and landed on the front passenger seat when I cornered at moderate speed.

So while it won't slide, it can fly!

I already have the "bean bag" mount and was glad to see this new, updated design, so I ordered. It does look more "factory". Was unpleasantly surprised when it arrived. The main upper portion is a pliable plastic that molds to the contours of your dash. The bottom, though, is a strange feeling silicone, that leaves your fingers feeling like you just handled a silicone spray or lubricant. Right on the packaging, but hidden from view until you remove the mount, is a message about cleaning residue left behind on your dash. Indeed, it even left an imprint mark on my kitchen counter while I was reading the packaging! Who wants to clean up a silicone stain every time you use it. I've already sent it back and will stick with the bean bag.

I was skeptical about buying this product at first. When I got it I was even more doubtful that it would work well since it was so light weight and small. How could this stay in place? Boy was I wrong. The rubber has a piece of metal in it so you can mold it to the dash board. The backing is just like one of those rubber lint rollers with a tacky side. I took really hard turns on exit ramps and it did not fall over. It holds in place solid. I did get a residual wet mark on the dash board kind of like when you use armour all and do not blend it in well. It does just wipe off with the palm of your hand though. I would recommend placing it in a zip lock bag or something when you take it down so it does not collect junk from under the seat. Clean up is easy with just soapy water and let air dry when too much dust accumulates. This is better than the bean bag.

I would also like to add that the reviewers saying this product falls off their dash is most likely because they do not clean their dashboard. Just like a lint brush, you must remove the lint for it to work!

I almost returned this item as I thought it was too unstable with my Nuvi 255WT. While driving on normal roads, I noticed the GPS was shaking to the point that navigating with it became downright annoying. I found the problem to be the rear of the flexible/sticky base where the mounting arm is attached. While the front of the base stayed firmly in place, the rear could twist up slightly from side to side resulting in the GPS shake I was experiencing. I believe this is because the rear of the base is more narrow than the front and therefore not as stable. For comparison, I switched back to my old Garmin sandbag mount and there was absolutely no shaking with that one. But, I really liked the looks, lower profile and better non-slip design of the friction mount and decided to work with it a bit more. Fortunately, I found that I could eliminate the shaking by pressing one/both bottom corners of the GPS unit into contact with the rubber base. This worked perfectly and with the shaking gone, and that sticky base stuck to the dash, my GPS has never felt more secure (better than the sandbag). I would definitely recommend this mount to others and if you experience the shaking problem, just try the tip I mentioned above. - Gps Mount - Friction Mount - Dashboard Mount - Garmin Mount'

Camera Battery - accessories, battery

I use three batteries in rotation, as I am frequently travelling in places where there is no electricity. When I traded in my old PowerShot S410 for a new PowerShot SD750 I took a chance on buying two generic batteries ($12 instead of $42).

Both generics were slightly less than perfect, in that they would regularly activate the 'low battery' icon/light even when they were fully charged. Occasionally, they would even evoke the 'change battery' message. On these occasions I had to open the battery compartment, partially remove the battery, then re-install it, in which case I could now proceed to take pictures with the same battery.

My sense was that the total battery life of the generics was not dramatically shorter than the Canon original, although I did not attempt to measure this precisely.

As soon as I was able (about a month after I bought them, as I was travelling at the time) I returned the generics to Amazon and paid full price for the Canon original. Although the generics could be 'worked around' it wasn't worth it to me, as I discovered I was more interested in taking photos than in saving $30 (times 2). Canon NB-4L Lithium-Ion Battery (3.7v 760mAh) Li-Ion Battery for Canon SD1400IS, SD940IS, SD960IS and Other Select Canon Digital Cameras

This is the exact same battery that came with my Canon SD200 camera (digital elph). I wanted to have a spare, and while you can find the replacement batteries (generics) for about 1/2 the price I really didn't want to risk anything going wrong by using any other type of battery. It takes a charge well and has a nice life to it, I am satisfied.

The value of having a second camera battery cannot be overestimated because the battery cannot be charged on the camera on most models. Swapping out batteries gives you continuous coverage and if you have a 2 Gig memory you can take a thousand pictures should you choose to do so. Moreover, the battery has a neat little cap with a built-in indicator which allows you to easily tell a depleted battery from a fully-charged one and eliminates the chance of spare change in your pocket or purse from shorting out the terminals. Strongly suggest you have one of these.

It's hard to beat an OEM battery at about half the price you would have to pay at a local big box store. I have experienced satisfactory charge and run time for this battery in my Canon SD600.

One thing to note: This was ordered with the "Super Saver Shipping". No problem, but I did notice like many other Amazon reviewers, that the order was listed as "shipped" almost a week before it actually entered the mail system. Amazon tracking said "shipped" but USPS tracking said they had been notified of a pickup request but that the item was not yet in their posession. And, as it turns out, wouldn't be for another 5 days. Anyway, the point is that there is a slightly misleading perception being generated by Amazon that your order is on it's way when in fact it is really sitting on their loading dock (or elsewhere) waiting for a weekly bulk pickup. And once it is "shipped", according to them, you can't cancel it, no matter how long it takes for a courier to actually pick it up off the dock.

If you are in need of a handy back up or replacement battery for your Canon camera, order this. I have purchased the "knock off" batteries claiming to be as good as the original for 1/2 the price, but beware, you get 1/16 of the battery life! The "compatible" batteries do not hold a charge well at all and I unfortunately found out the hard way, on vacation with no charger around. The compatibles were useless, I almost thought I hadn't fully charged two extra "compatible" batteries, but when I returned home and attempted to charge them, they both lasted long enough for the camera to power on even after the charger gave them a green light! I won't hammer the name of the compatibles due to the possibility of some fluke, but I wouldn't risk any of them.

I just recently purchased the Canon SD 1000 camera and wanted a spare battery to cary. I also have an older Canon camera and when I wanted a spare back-up battery I bought a brand other than Canon. The off brand battery did not last as long as the Canon battery.

This time when I wanted a spare battery I bought the Canon as opposed to a cheaper off brand.

I am looking forward to equal quality performance of both batteries.

I would quess the old saying ,"You get what you pay for",would apply here. norrlip

It's just a battery, right? I ordered it and received it quickly, and it works as advertised. I suppose it's not that complicated.

I would add that I do have a preference for Canon brand batteries over the generics. Although they are so much cheaper, it just isn't worth it when you discover that they don't hold as muh of a charge and deteriorate more quickly over time. - Canon Digital Camera - Accessories - Camera Battery - Battery'

Baby Einstein - language, baby einstein

I'm not a huge fan of Baby Einstein stuff, but my son loved this octopus as an infant. We would play the songs for him again and again and he seemed to like it. One thing they don't show you is that the underbelly of the octopus is colorful and a baby likes to look up at the BOTTOM of the octopus, not just the face part. We hung this toy (has a velcro strap on top) over our son's bassinet when he was awake during the days. When we took it down to play with it with our son, we would sometimes spin it around while he looked at the bottom of it. It held his attention so he must have liked it.

It is soft and (I thought) a decent size. It's true that it doesn't "sit up" well for long. It ends up getting kind of floppy-headed and its head will lean back on its legs when it's set down on the floor. This doesn't affect its use in any way, it's just an annoyance for those of us who keep trying to get its head to sit up nice.

The songs are played by pressing on the head. It IS really sensitive, but that's so a baby can make it work. The color words are played by pressing the circles on the feet. They are too difficult for a baby to work.

I didn't mind the music, although I agree with one reviewer who said one of the songs reminded her of circus music. There is one song which is kind of frentic (I called this one "the crazy song"). The music is very electronic sounding, not soothing. This toy is definitely designed for play time.

My son is almost 2 now and we still have the Octoplush. Here are my observations after having this thing for so long:

1) The toy will go crazy when the batteries are low. Before they stop working, they seem to make the toy act bizarre and work in weird ways. If your Octoplush is acting up, it may be the batteries need to be changed.

2) The songs are long (as one reviewer pointed out). But you can stop the music at any time by pushing one of the buttons on the feet. It'll say "blue" (or whatever color you push) and then be quiet.

3) My son can barely get the feet buttons to work even now. I can get them to work just fine (it's not broken), but even a young child (not a baby) has trouble with it.

4) It's true that you can choose English, French, or Spanish for the color words. That's great, but I can speak enough French and Spanish to tell that some of these words are pronounced so poorly that it's hard to make out what the little electronic voice is saying (some of them make me laugh). Don't expect your child to "pick up" all these words while blithely playing with the Octoplush. The quality is not good enough for that. If the recordings were better (which would be easy for the company to do), then maybe so. This is the main reason why I don't give this toy a 5-star rating. I think this is its biggest fault...the poor quality of the recordings for the words (including the English too).

But that being said, this toy only costs about $12 so I think it's well worth the price.

My daughter received this toy for Christmas. It quickly became a favorite of hers and therefore my husband's and mine as well. Baby girl is 9 months old now, and this guy keeps her entertained during diaper changes, toweling off after a bath, or anytime we need to put her down for a second to grab a diaper or a change of clothes. She has really put him through his paces and he holds up well. He's been spit up on, chewed remorselessly, even chucked into the diaper pail and he always comes out unscathed.

My daughter is 4 months old and we have to take this toy with us whenever we visit friends of family. It plays music fine for her and the colors work. The only problem we have is that she listens to the music so often that the tunes get stuck in your head.

This toy is 3 languages, most toys are only English and Spanish and I specifically purchased this because it goes to French as well. My son's aunt is willing to teach French to him and this toy will help Mommy practice with him!

We received this toy at our baby shower, and were thrilled to get it. However, when we first started using it with baby, we noticed that it began to say the wrong color associated with the wrong foot. we would press the red foot, and it would say yellow. or press the white foot and it would say purple. Sometimes now, I'll just be walking by it, without pushing anything, and it will shout out a random color. Obviously, this isn't teaching our daughter anything!

Our twin boys loved 'Ollie the Octoplush' from one month onwards -- they believe Ollie talks to them, they respond to his cheerful face, babble back and brighten with wide smiles at the tunes. At six months they self-activate color buttons on Ollie's arms and hug him for comfort. Good to alternate between the 'color talk' and music, they'll learn colors in French and Spanish as they grow. The underside of each arm is satin fabric in its corresponding color. We are VERY selective with developmental toys and Octo is one of our best buys so far! - Octopus - Baby Einstein - Toys - Language'

My son is super skinny so I have to buy pants with adjustable waists in them, this is one of few pairs I found that have this feature in the 12 month size.

I bought these in both light and dark wash and the waist band in pair is shredding and falling apart but the other pair is still great. Levi's Baby Boys Painter Jean - Light Wrecked, 18 Months - Microfleece Sleeper - Baby Boy - Baby Clothes - Bodysuit'
