Cycling - hand tools, 2009 amazon frustration-fre

Very nice heay duty tool to help you change bike tires with out pinching the tubes as like in the old days with screw drives etc.Saves both time and your energy. I rate this product very high. Shipped to my door very fast also. Thank you Park Tool TR-1 Tire and Tube Repair Kit

As an avid cyclist, this thing comes in handy a lot. Makes repairs quick and easy and has definitely more than paid for itself with the time and money I've saved. Your results may vary on the repairs, but you'll most certainly end up with something to last you until you can get where you're going and they might just last a little longer. Have had some patched tubes last me longer than the tires themselves. Never had a problem with anything drying out but I probably go through these more quickly than most.

The levers seemed strong but the tip does bend after several uses. Also the patch seems to hold air after several weeks and gradually leak over a 2 month period despite proper patching technique. I find rubber cement patch kit work better than this tape patch even though it's more convenient on trails.

These were solid and got the job done. They are very low profile and stack together so they are easy to keep in a bike bag or tool box. Simple and all you need. DO NOT get metal tire levers if you have powdercoated wheels, they will scratch them. This set is perfect for powder coated wheels.

Great poduct and makes chaning a bike flat much easier. I also like that becasue it is made of hard plastic I don't have to worry about scratching my rims up really bad like when i used a screw driver.

Park makes some awesome tools and these tire levers are no exception. I always run Continental tires on my road bike which are super tight. Ordinary tire levers just won't work: the tips are too wide, they flex too much, or they just break. Park levers are the best I've tried: The tips are sharp enough (not too sharp), and they're stiff as steel.

This is the third type of lever I have used so far. It is, by far, the sturdiest brand that I have used. One weakness of this model is that it's hard to mount tires with these levers. I know I'm not supposed to use levers to mount tires, but I use tubes as rim strip, which makes it difficult to mount tires by hand. Other than that, it does its job at dismounting tires well.

As for the pre-glued patches, they will stick as long as you don't get your fingerprint all over them. They worked as expected.

I purchased this item needing to patch a tire on my childrens bicyle. The tools that is included in this kit made takeing the tire off the rim super easy. I mean I have used and fought a screwdriver before and this is a better way. Definately recommend buying this item. - Bike Tool - 2009 Amazon Frustration-fre - Bike Repair - Hand Tools'

Diamond Cutting Wheel - burr, bits

This is an excellent value. Each burr is a different size and shape, resulting in an assortment that works for almost every need. (Missing are the very small sizes, but those would need a much finer grit) As mentioned in the product title, these are designed to carve hard materials...ceramic, tile, glass and stone. A steel burr set would be a better choice for wood.

An earlier product headline stated that these are 120 grit. I was guessing 150 grit, but the spec seems to have disappeared. Whichever it is, it works for most applications. 50pc DIAMOND BURR SET- Ceramics Tile Glass Lapidary for ROTARY TOOLS

I wanted to carve animal tracks in a terracotta porcelain tile I was laying on a southwestern style portal. I ordered these bits to try, because the set was less expensive than the cost of one diamond bit I had looked at. I had heard that to keep the diamond bits in good shape, I should puddle a little water on the top of what I was carving. I did that, making sure I was grounded, wore a rubber glove to help protect the Dremel from the water..and they worked great! I was able to use the different shapes to carve realistic paw prints. As another plus: It was shipped very quickly.

I purchased this set of diamond burr because I was working on a project that involved mirrors. This set of tools was just want I needed; the other glass cutting instruments that I had were not working. I was able to drill holes through the mirrors for handles (eight to be exact) and shape my mirror pieces as needed. I would not have been able to do get the job done without the diamond burr set.

The only drawback for me, because I'm new at this, is that I did not know which tool is best for a particular job so it was trial and error. Some directions for usage (what's best for what type of job) would have been very useful.

Great variety and quantity for the price. I'm using mine on soft stones. When I ordered I couldn't find the grit in the description....I think it just says medium. FYI the packaging I recieved says 120 grit.

After trying to use a blade on my rotary tool to cut tile. I gave up and in desperation used this. This tool worked great. It ate through the tile makes about a 1/4 inch gouge but worked great for what I needed. I went through 3 blades before switching to this and only used 1 of these to make as more cuts as the blades did in less time. I am very impressed with this item so far.

I know they say ceramic and glass but for the fine detail work in metal that I do on my sculptures they work greatPro-Quality 20-Piece Diamond-Point Bit Set for Rotary Tool - Glass, Stone, Ceramic. 50pc DIAMOND BURR SET- Ceramics Tile Glass Lapidary for ROTARY TOOLS

I have only tried one bit (its winter and I can't get outside to do my work) but I tried it on some stones of various hardnesses and they worked beautifully. I am looking forward to trying out the rest come spring.

I am buying my second set of these, as the most used pieces are beginning to be worn out, which is amazing after months of pretty intense carving in limestone. The shapes of the bits are mostly perfect, with there being about 10 that i use constantly, and the rest occasionally. - Bits - Burr - Dremel - Arts And Crafts'

I like a lot of raw things; though I eat a regular diet, I've preferred a lot of my foods raw for years--definitely fruits and vegetables, and some other things that would probably upset a vegan or two.

Cornbleet's book was recommended to me by another Amazon reviewer, and I have to say, this is one book of recipes on raw foods that doesn't require a kitchen full of obscure appliances and a direct pipeline to Whole Food's exotic produce section. You can make most of these recipes from things you find in any grocery, with perhaps the addition of raw nuts like almonds, walnuts and cashews from the Indian grocery store (because they carry them in reasonably good-sized bags and are priced well, too.)

I tried the "Creamy Tomato Soup." This is a kind of gazpacho made simply with tomatoes, avocado, basil or dill, olive oil and some seasoning like salt, onion powder, garlic cloves and pepper. I made a batch, using Adobo powder because I was out of onion and garlic (this is a garlic salt with herbs used in Latin American cooking.) And, yes, think of it, I was out of onion salt and garlic but I did have an avocado and fresh basil. Pretty strange, I'll admit it. I tossed in the best of extra-virgin olive oil we had. Result? A creamy, frothy pink soup, served chilled that tasted like a buttery version of gazpacho. I had to keep from eating the entire batch in one sitting. It was refreshing and soothing. This soup can be lightly warmed if cold soups don't float your boat.

The book has attractive photography, which helps you choose some recipes like raw wraps, either in kale, cabbage or nori wrapping or you might go for the desserts which were numerous and very luscious-looking (fig cake, key lime mousse, berry crisp.) The "spaghetti" made of spiral-cut zucchini with a raw coulis of tomato, dried tomato and other herbs was served with walnut pate "meat balls." We can't eat wheat, and this was a beautiful presentation. Only problem is ONE of us doesn't eat nuts and this book is chock-full-o-nuts. I suppose you can use hemp seed or sunflower seeds if you are anti-nut, but this WILL present an issue for those who are allergic.

The author points out that raw food can be made with a blender and not much else but a cutting board and can be good for campers or motorhome travelers who may not want to go nuts with a stove.

This book has some very tempting but healthy recipes and is a nice way to get your five servings of veg a day without pounding down boring salads or boiled cabbage. Recommended!! Raw Food Made Easy For 1 or 2 People

I LOVE Jenny's new book! I have dozens of raw foods books, but this is the only one that makes raw foods cooking successful for me (and my family). The prep time that other books require is what has historically overwhelmed me (I work 80 hours per week) and this book requires virtually none of that. So far, we have fallen in love with Walnut Pate Sandwich, Garden Vegetable Soup, Spinach Apple Soup, Zucchini Hummus, and Brownies. As we try others, I'm sure we'll love them all! This is the book that will change our lives and I HIGHLY recommend it!

I've been reading about raw foods for years and acquired several books and recipes on-line. I attended the author's demonstration at Karyn's. Unlike some (not all) raw foodists, she looked very healthy and was amiable and non-judgemental. I must use this cookbook 3-4 times a week. I may have to buy a new copy because it is getting so dirty! I have made smoothies, salads, desserts and even actual entrees. With other cookbooks I might have made a smoothie or a soup here or there, with this one I'm creating full raw food courses meals. The zuccinni pasta is great as is the raw chocolate flourless cake and the blueberry tart is genius. It's nice to be able to make things for yourself vs. having to buy them from raw food restaurants (which I'm lucky to be near two). Since I have bought this book I have eaten more raw foods than ever before. I think the author is smart to realize that if the raw food trend is going to catch on, it needs to relate to busy people and communicated in a pleasant, non-preachy way. I can't wait for the next book she writes!

I went (mostly) raw a couple of months ago. I'm STILL excited about being raw (and I'm fairly creative in the kitchen), but when I needed/wanted recipes to expand my repertoire, I began to explore books. I think I've read/tried about 12 now. I love different books for different reasons, and I've learned something from each one.

THIS one I love because:

* It's the first one I've found that's written for a REAL person with REAL lives (we're not all chefs, we don't all have fancy/expensive equipment, we don't all have oodles of extra time, we don't all have easy access to exotic ingredients). It makes being and staying raw more do-able.

* Her instructions are CLEAR. She's a teacher, and it makes all the difference.

* I LOVE that she doesn't get preachy. Although she explains the benefits of raw foods in the intro, she doesn't go overboard and say the all the problems of the world will be solved if everyone ate raw foods. (I get so tired of that! It's not a religion, folks!) It's all about the recipes. She's just giving you great, do-able recipes.

* Even though the title says "for 1 or 2" I am doubling many of these for my family of four and they work great.

I've been turning my mom onto raw foods, and this will be the first book I give her.

My 3-star rating is relative to my level of experience preparing healthy food (very experienced). A beginner may rate the book higher.

Pros:

1) portions are geared for 1 or 2 - the sub premise for this book

2) Offers reason and how-to for food preparation (how to soak, clean, store foods).

3) Equipment needed is basic and low-cost. Great if your have limited space, income, time and/or food prep experience.

4) Recipes are laid out well: Yield, ingredients, equipment, variations and suggestions are included for each recipe.

5) Ingredients are readily available at most supermarkets

6) Glossary - explainations are a good education. Other indices of resources are Books and Videos, Educational Resources, etcetera.

Cons (sort-of):

The simplicity of some of the recipes make this book great for a beginner yet so obvious for someone like myself that is very adept in a healthy kitchen. Example Recipe -> Apple Juice: 4 apples - cut into chunks. Juice and serve immediately.

Overall Ms. Cornbleet delivers on her title. She gave me new ideas on how to use avocado -> Chocolate Mousse. Not bad!'

Driving Cap - driving cap, flat caps

I purchased this hat for my 82 year old brother-in-law. He was very pleased with it and wears it everywhere. The only issue I have is with the seller, in that the website does NOT tell you that this hat fits ALL head sizes because it has a hidden velcro band in the back that makes the hat completely adjustable. Other than that, it is a great hat and I might even order one for myself. Big Wool Blend Newsboy Cap-Brown W07S38E

plain and simple: I love this hat

I had to wait a while to review it as I bought it right before a heatwave hit my area so it wasn't convenient to wear at the time, but now that the weather's clearing up I can safely say this hat was worth every penny and then some. It's well made, sturdy, and it's very warm and comfortable. My only hangup is the button on the front which I wish could be a little more hidden as I feel it takes away from the hat, but seeing as how it was visible in the image I can't say it caught me off guard. Would highly recommend to hat lovers and someone looking for a nice Gatsby

In short, it's a pretty cool hat. I wish I could find one of the original newsboys, one without the adjustable rear made of Velcro. I mean, it's handy and all, but it sort of takes away from the hat. Anyway, it's a cool, comfortable hat and a must-have for fans of... that look. I'm not sure what That Look is, but you know it when you see it or hear it. You'll have to excuse my seeming apathy. It's the end of the semester, I've got a ton of work to do and frankly I'm feeling literally under the weather. So pardon my bluntness and apparent lack of interest. Buy the hat.

I wear this cap every day, every where! I don't care for the gap in back caused by the adjustable feature, but it is easily sewn shut. I have a very hard time getting a cap that is large enough and this one is. Will definitely buy more.

My grandson needed a costume for "Sherlock Holmes", a play he was in recently...he played "a natty safecracker", and had to look a certain way. The hat topped it off (no pun intended)and he was quite a success. The kicker is, he loved the hat and can now wear it when it's cold. The hat is of excellent quality and I. am very pleased. We had originally ordered from another company, they send the wrong color, and they would not return my emails or calls to make an exchange...anyone need a brown fedora???? - Womens - Driving Cap - Flat Caps'

Tight Active Pants

The fabric and compression are greats and in line with the Zoot CRX or CW-X stabilix but it's not "friendly" for medium builds. My waist is 38" (5'9") and the L size was unbearable at the waist - too much pressure. I changed to the XL but the pressure in the waist was still too much and the tight too long, so the L was to small and the XL was too big. Recommended only for athletics body types SKINS Men's Ry400 Recovery Long Tights , Black, X-Large

I'm 50 years old and training for my third marathon. The recovery time using this item reduces the time I usually need. This is a quality product and I would recommend it to any distance runner. I give it 4-stars and not 5 only because It is the first article of such gear I've purchased. I would buy it again.

Love the skins RY 400. I find them more comfortable then the skins sport-- which I have been using for a few months now. I do find the compression to be tight, but not as tight as my 2xu elite. Both tights fit me well, however I feel that the skins are more comfortable to wear-- which means I can, and do wear them longer and more often then the 2xu.

Both tights are good and do what they are designed for. I highly recommend the Skins.'

Awesome Speakers - speakers, awesome speakers

I've wanted to install outdoor speakers on the deck of my house, and after purchasing a pair elsewhere which I returned because of poor quality, I selected these, primarily based on reviews which had been submitted. Thanks everyone.

I installed these speakers yesterday and spent an evening on the deck listing to beautiful music coming from these speakers. They are excellent, sound is perfectly balanced between them, and I'm very satisfied.

They were easy to install and the packaging was very well done. Yamaha NS-AW150 2-Way Indoor/Outdoor Speakers (Pair, Black)

I own a restaurant and needed to get rid of my music provider and replace the sound system. They had big Bose speakers hanging in the ceiling. I replaced them with these. The Yamaha sound is ten times better then their Bose speakers. I bought them new with the free shipping. These are one of the best set of speakers for the sound. Bass is even there. I will be buying these for my rear speakers for my home theater as they will do the job. I'm glad I read the reviews and made this purchase. Can't go wrong for the price.

Easy to install, just needed a ladder and a cordless drill/screwdriver. A Wire stripper is also reccomneded for your speaker wires. Comes with mounting bracket. I put these under the eaves of our front porch, partly protected from the elements. We've had some good storms in the last 3 weeks and these are nice and strudy. They even come with an extra safety wire, reccomended to use in case the speakers ever come loose.

Sound is fantastic. I have these hooked up to an old cheap receiver and still great. Highly reccomended I will probably order another pair for our deck out back.

I return a pair of wireless speakers and bought these instead. I am very happy with the sound and the simplicty of operation (compared to wireless). I have them on my screened porch for music and NPR. Running the wires was not easy, but it was worth it.

I purchased these speakers for an outdoor theater I was setting up for the kids, they sound great! I have purchased more expensive speakers with far less sound quality than these. Definately worth the 75 bucks!

These speakers are great. We just enlarged our screened in porch and mounted the two speakers on the two corners of the porch. Mounting them was a breeze (according to my husband) and the sound is fantastic. For the price, you can't beat these speakers. We also installed an on/off/volume switch on the wall and can now listen to the house stereo and TV as low or as loud as we like.

For the price these speakers are absolutely great. I used 2 of them for a 10x25 concrete patio. Mounted each one on the inside patio corners of the house (I had to mount via vinyl siding/wood so you will need some extra mounted stuff - I just used a thin piece of wood to place behind the vinyl, so it would not buldge in, and some larger screws to anchor thru that into the wood along side the house - the speakers are not heavy). I angled the speakers facing towards the center of the patio, and they sound INCREDIBLE. We stream HD music out there and it sounds like a live concert. The 5" create outstanding bass. Thumbs up if your on a budget. Shipping was fast. - Awesome Speakers - Best Value - Speakers - Yamaha'
