Book Recommendations - jennifer weiner, comedy

I must confess that I was predisposed to like "Good in Bed," since I've been a big fan of Jennifer Weiner's newspaper columns for some time. I wasn't, however, prepared for how fine a first novel she has produced, or how moved I was by Cannie's story. The book begins with a hilarious hook: protagonist Cannie Shapiro, entertainment columnist for a large Philadelphia newspaper, realizes that her recently-ex-boyfriend has been hired by a Cosmo-like magazine to write a [adult] column. To her horror, Cannie realizes that the pseudo-anonymous woman "C." in Bruce's first article is her. To make this invasion of privacy even more humiliating, the column is an unexpectedly perceptive treatment of Cannie's weight problem and its effect on their relationship. At first glance, one might assume the snarky tone of the first few pages would continue as the novel spun out in a kind of lightweight revenge fantasy. But Weiner uses Cannie's heartbreaking invasion of privacy as jumping off point for so much more. We see Cannie grow and change, exorcising childhood demons (mostly), getting over Bruce (at last), and most moving of all, finally coming to terms with her place in life (and yes, her weight, too). If the plot is moved along by a few too many incredible coincidences, if the book seems almost too jam-packed with characters and subplots, well, these are minor criticisms of a finely-written and sensitive first novel. Just promise me, Jennifer, you won't let Camryn Manheim star in the movie version....... Good in Bed

I read many reviews here on Amazon about how great this book was so I decided to give it a shot...big mistake. The first part of this book was funny at times, clever, and made me want to read more. The farther along this book progressed I found myself hating the main character more and more. She was whiney, self absorbed, and rude to everybody she wasn't friends with.

The character of Cannie was so utterly bitter that I found myself actually hoping she wouldn't get the fairy tale ending we all knew she would get. I'm all for the idea of having a plus size main character, but she was absoultey horrid to anybody who wasn't plus sized in this novel. The writer made you sympathize for Cannnie with all of her weight struggles, but the way she made thin people into evil beings made me like Cannie even less. She went too overboard with the "woe is me, because I'm fat" issue. For instance, the thin nurse in the doctors office who was trying to be pleasent to everybody, the author made her out to be this horrible character all because she was thin. I really had it with this issue when she was at some ridiculous Hollywood party and she told some "size 0" movie star she liked her music and the lady responds with "If I had a nickel for every fat girl who said that to me..." *NOBODY* is going to be that rude, and that is the way all thinner people are portrayed in this book. I have no problem with having the main character be larger, and showing that bigger people can be successful and elaborating on the hardships and mean spirited ways people can be just because of a bigger size, but it's extremely condescending that the author turns around and does the same thing to thin people throughout the entire book.

The BIGGEST complaint with this book was the complete and total lack of realism. Meeting a multi-millionare actress in a bathroom and becoming best friends over a night of drinking? Having your movie script which nobody would touch all of a sudden being turned into a movie? Having a rich, handsome doctor fall madly in love with you? Going out to a lake with an incredibly attractive movie star who you've been lusting after for years? And then having him leave his sports car there for you to drive for the weekend??

This book went from starting off fresh and clever, to quickly becoming stale and repulsive by the amount of whining and constant references to her ex boyfriend on every other page, to becoming such a ridiculous fairy tale that not many would enjoy.

By the end of this book I couldn't stand Cannie and understood why Bruce didn't want her back.

This book started out good but quickly went downhill. The main character Cannie spends much of the book whining about how hard her life is because she is overweight. She tells you she hates skinny people and delights in trying to make them look foolish. Bruce Cannie's ex-boyfriend writes an insightful article about their relationship and her problems with her self image because of her weight, but Cannie is incensed because he calls her fat and overweight in a national magazine and misses most of what he is trying to convey in the article. We are also supposed to empathize with her because Bruce called her fat even though she describes herself as fat and overweight throughout the book. Besides since Bruce doesn't want Cannie we are supposed to believe he is a jerk ... . I couldn't understand why Bruce or any of Cannie's friends put up with her or wasted any time on someone who was so insecure, obnoxious and needy. Oh wait, as the author keeps telling us she's "funny" and fun to be around, although bitter would be a more accurate description of many of Cannie's not so funny one-liners. Cannie goes from being a promising character to a boring, self-involved, narcissistic, grating, selfish jerk. The author has the main character making so many one-liners it was hard to empathize with or get any real feeling of the character. When she was describing her relationship with her father all I could think was "okay, whatever." We are supposed to feel sorry for her because her father "forced" her to go to Princeton, and made her pay for some of her tuition. Cry me a river! She does a poor me story about her time at Princeton even though she got to write for the school paper and accomplished her goals. None of that mattered though because everyone at Princeton had "perfect bodies and shiny hair", oh the injustice of it all Poor Cannie. Dont let me get started on her childhood where she whines that her 5 bedroom house wasnt painted as often as the neighbors or the in-ground pool in her backyard wasnt well maintained after her father left. These are her childhood problems?! Give me a break!None of the other characters in the book were developed. Apparently they have no lives or problems of their own. They merely exist to be a sounding board for Cannie and to tell her how funny and wonderful she is. When the story turned Hollywood the author really lost me then. I am annoyed with myself for even bothering to finish this book. - Relationships - Jennifer Weiner - Beach Read - Comedy'

Digital Converter Box - digital tv converter, action

I have had this item over a month. It has performed well; installation was according to the enclosed instructions. A call to the support office was handled efficiently and warmly, a good surprise. To this day, this item hos provided the service as advertised; we are very please with this product. Coby ATSC Standard-Definition Converter Box DTV102, Black

Converter boxes will become increasingly scarce next few months. Prefered brands sold out on Amazon, so got this one. ALLOWS Analog PassThrough. It does have menu choise to set Time Zone, but NO option to Turn Off Day-Light Savings which may be issue in Arizona. The "Program Guide" will only go ONE program into future (some brands go 3 - 4 hours ahead) Big annoyance, is the COBY Remote that comes with it, TURNS OFF Sanyo TV its connected to, when you push "Up Channel" button! and other buttons on COBY remote cause various menus & input channels on TV to pop up at inopportune times! I've notice COBY remote for DVD player I have does same thing on TVs in Hotel Rooms! I DID like the menu option that lets you program screen orientation (widescreen, letterbox, full) to be "Set By Program" which is where I set it. One odd thing about this DTV box (I have 3 other brands and they just have visual) is for the Channel Signal Strength Bar it ALSO has audible BEEPING coinciding with signal strength! Was going to send it back because it interferes with TV set, but decided to work around problems and keep box, (push "Up Channel" button again, turns TV set back on!) as my preferred brands (GE, RCA) are sold out!

My Digital Stream box quit after 9 mos. so I bought this one. You should know that unlike the Digital Stream box, this one has no provision for operating the TV it is connected to. So you must use one remote to control TV volume and on/ off , and another to change channels. The COBY box did not pass analog channels as promised (yes, I turned it off). It also was not able to see some of the channels the Digital Stream box could. But the DS box costs more than twice as much as the COBY. I guess you get what you pay for.

This converter box works really well. It has a signal strength meter which is really cool, so you can actually see the signal strength increase/decrease as you move the antenna. The on screen menus and guides are set up very well. The box is absolutely perfect for any tv that doesn't have a built-in digital tuner.

My only complaint (and it's a common one with this product) is the remote. It really only likes to work in a few certain spots. So, sometimes you're just clicking away with no results on the screen. It's frustrating, but luckily I don't have a lot of channels to run through.

Of course, like most boxes, you really need that remote because the box itself doesn't feature a lot of buttons on it.

This box works as advertised. Unlike the first one we bought, the APEX unit.

Overall, the remote works better, the picture is better, and since we don't have an HD TV, we can set this box to eliminate that annoying little box display in the middle of our 32" TV.

So far it's a good product at a good price.

And for those with poor reception? It's NOT the box, it's your antenna.

The first one I received worked for about 5 minutes and then died. I received a new one about a week later and returned the defective one. The new one seems to be ok so far. The picture quality is pretty good, but I would have preferred that there be an S-video jack on the back in addition to the composite one. I don't know why that feature seems so hard to come by on these converter boxes. The menu is ok, but pretty basic. The lack of a volume control is annoying because you always have to have your tv or other remote handy to adjust the volume as needed. All in all it's not a bad converter box, but there are certainly better ones out there. In my opinion they're pretty much all overpriced. This one should be selling for about $15-$20, not $50, but it's a classic case of manufacturers knowing that they have you over a barrel because without one of these converter boxes, your old analog tv is basically a very large paperweight.

The unit works fine. I think my problem is my antenna. My reception is not as good as I would like on certain channels. I do not have a big choice of channels but I mainly wanted it for the local channels anyway. What is really nice is not having to pay for cable or satellite! - Digital Tv Converter - Dtv Converter - Converter Box - Action'

Polaroid Digital Camera - blueproton, compact digital camera case

I tried several cases for my new Canon S90 and this case had the best snug fit for the S90 without being too snug. It will provide a modest level of protection for the camera without adding unnecessary bulk. The outer pocket will hold an extra battery and/or memory card. Case Logic TBC-302 Ultra Compact Camera Case with Storage (Orange)

I recently purchased a Canon S90 to complement my 5DmkII on a safari in Tanzania. Throughout the trip I had the S90 on my belt for quick and easy access; the case isn't bulky and seemed to protect the camera well enough from the occasional knock as the land cruiser hit big bumps.

On my last day in Tanzania I was walking through the streets of Arusha when suddenly I felt a hard tug that almost spun me around. I turned to see a man starting to flee. I started off in pursuit--concerned more about the memory card than the camera itself--but after a few steps realized the camera was still at my side, only a slight rip in the strap indicating anything had happened.

Recommended as a sturdy carrying case with a reasonable amount of padding for impact protection (you won't want to drop it from very high or expose it to strong blows).

This case happens to be a good fit for the Canon S90. If you're hiking or are on vacation, it'll get you that crucial amount of padding plus room for 1 or 2 spare batteries and SD card. I particularly like the fact that the belt loop is fixed (not a clip), so once you put it on, you can be confident that it stays on, no matter which woods you're cutting your way through. Use a wider belt if you have one, the case wiggles a little with slim belts.

If you're out in Metropolis though, the "outdoor factor" may be just a tad over the edge. You can remove the metal hook and cut off the bright label with sharp scissors, but it'll still look a bit too dorky for, say, the opera or sushi gathering. For such occasions, you'll do better with Canon's PSC900 Deluxe Leather Case.

I read this was a good case to get for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 so I ordered one at the same time I ordered my camera.

I got them on the same day and was happy.

I like the case, it is padded and has a little pocket in the front, but I was hoping the pocket was a little bigger. You can't really fit anything in there.. maybe a SD card, but it can't have to bulky a case and there is no way a battery will fit in there.

As for the camera, I liked it at first, it has a snug fit and seemed perfect, but then I realized how unperfect it was. I put the wrist band on it and all the sudden it was way to hard to close, I was afraid I'd scratch it trying to get it zipped. I found a way around this by turning the camera backwards facing away from the pocket.

Another thing I noticed and I HATED was when it was turned the right way with the wrist band on (not sure about without it.. only noticed after I put it on) is that the fit was TO tight that sometimes when zipping it up the zipper hits the on off switch and tries to turn it on.. which isn't good cuz the lense has no where to go! Again, turning it backwards seems to help with this, but I still have to be real careful when putting it up to avoid hitting it...

I like the snug fit but at the same time I wish it was a little bit bigger, I'm afraid if I am in to big of a hurry I might accidently hit the camera with the zipper or something.

I just purchased a Canon SD4000 and wanted a good case to secure the camera. I went with Caselogic TBC-302 and I love the fit.

I had many different cases and every time I get frustrated of keeping the camera in the case because it doesn't fit in my pocket.

Usually, I would just keep the case in my bag and the camera in my pocket.

The TBC-302 size fits comfortably in a regular pair of jeans.

Enough room for a spare battery and SD card.

Purchased this on advise from other reviews for the Panasonic Lumix ZS7 I purchased. Case holds the camera and an extra battery in the main section, and the memory chips in the small section. Has a loop to be attached to your belt. It is very small and a tight fit for the above, but it is perfect for what I wanted. Sturdy construction and has a little bit of padding to keep the camera secure. Perfect case for this camera and the few esstentials you need to bring along.

I just purchased a Panasonic Lumix ZS7 from Amazon and am looking for a case to protect it. I read a few reviews on this case that referenced Panasonic Lumix and/or ZS7, so I ordered one. Don't make the same mistake I did!

This case is too small for the ZS7 (or any similar size model). Once you cram it into the case, it really takes some effort to get the zipper closed. I'm afraid of the zipper scratching the new camera. Since return shipping costs almost as much as I paid for this case in the first place, I'm stuck with it or selling it online elsewhere.

I'm giving the product a good rating because I do like the case, it just doesn't fit my specific camera, which I had no way of knowing until after ordering it. There could be more cushioning, so like others have mentioned, I wouldn't expect it to protect the camera very well if dropped from several feet. But to protect from scratches and average jostling around, it's decent enough.

Update: I checked out a few stores in my area, taking my camera along with me for a fitting.

If you like the looks of this case, but want one for your ZS7 or similar size model, check out the Case Logic TBC-303. The camera will fit, with room to spare, plus has the zippered storage pocket on the front. Similar to the TBC-302, it will hold the camera and offers some protection from bangs and scratches, but isn't likely to protect your camera much if dropped. The big-box store that starts with a "W" is selling it for nine bucks in my area.

If you want something with more cushion/protection, I would recommend the Case Logic QPB-202. It has a plush interior with thicker cushioning along with a hard molded front. It wil fit the camera inside and has a mesh pocket for memory cards and an extra battery. Definitely feels like it would better protect the camera if dropped from a few feet up. I'm buying it from Amazon for less than ten smackeroos. The "W" store didn't carry it and the office supply chain had a higher "Max" price, over thirteen bucks. - Camera Cases - Digital Camera - Compact Digital Camera Case - Blueproton'

Mp3 Player - ipod, music

Pros:

-typical 3.5mm male to 3.5mm female cable splitter

-fit any normal headphone or auxiliary port

-slimmer style male port so it would fit into my iPod with it's case on (BONUS!)

-cable lengths are about 5-6" so its a good length, not too long, but not too short

-cables are also nice and sturdy so they will not be damaged very easily. Highly durable

-the connections are solid, no static at all, and the male audio ports plug into the female ports easily and will not slip out.

Cons:

-(I ran into this problem only on one occasion): The splitter may reduce the volume to half it's maximum output. I split my TV into two different sets of surround sound to test the output quality and it only delivered half the volume it was supposed to to each of the surround sound systems. This only occurred on one occasion which is why it was 4 stars instead of five. You may run into this problem, but like I said, it has only happened once, and I ordered a large number of these splitters.

Overall:

I would rate this 5 stars out of 5 if it wasn't for the one instance of lowered volume. Otherwise, this is an exceptional product. I have tried many different splitters for my needs and this one has lasted the longest, and performed the greatest overall. For the cheap price, it outperformed any high priced guaranteed splitter out there! If you need a quick split, or just want to have it for any need, I would recommend this product! Belkin F8Z359tt06INCHP Y Adapter; Mini Stereo Plug

I bought this device to split the audio output on my computer so I could run 2 sets of speakers in 2 different rooms. This worked perfectly and was an inexpensive solution. This adapter does give full stereo sound on both sets of speakers. (Some don't)

I agree with the other reviewer - I got this splitter for under $3 and it does the job. My two pair of earphones fit securely and the splitter fit snugly into my media player. No decrease in sound quality from when I used the earphones directly to when I used the splitter. I didn't notice a drop in volume either. Simple product that works great - no need to pay more for this type of device unless you need one with volume control. This one suited my needs perfectly. - Mp3 Player - Iphone - Ipod - Music'

Faucet Water Filters - pur purifier, pur

I've been a previous owner of a faucet mount PUR filter that lasted for over 4 years before it finally broke. I purchased this particular model thinking that it would also last, but I was disappointed. A couple of months later, it deveolped a hairline crack just below the filter indicator. I thought I just might have accidentally hit the housing, so I purchased the same model again. Well, this same crack appeared, and now I have contacted P&G. I am seriously thinking of purchasing a different brand.

So this is my second PUR water filter mount. Both were this same model. Right out of the package they work great. It's not entirely necessary as our water is already clean out of the faucet, but it does remove any particulates that may reside in the distribution piping and home piping, as well as removing the chlorine residual that is in most tap water. After about a year, coincidentally just as the one year warranty expires, the valve that bridges between the faucet and the filter begins to degrade. Now even when the filter is turned off, water still flows through the valve and through the filter thereby dramatically decreasing the lifespan of the filter since water is always flowing through it. This is a POOR engineering design that should have been addressed by this company. This is the reason why I'm giving it one star. I figured my first filter was just a fluke, but this problem was confirmed yet again on my second filter.

My recommendation:

1) Go for a faucet mount that you don't have to physically turn to activate. I feel that the repetitive action of turning this up and down multiple times a day leads to premature fatigue of this product.

2) Don't worry so much about ancillary features like lights, etc. The filter is what you should be concerned about since this is what is polishing your water.

3) Look for NSF Certification. NSF 42 is for aesthetic effects. Even better is the NSF 53 is for removing health related contaminants. NSF 58 is for reverse osmosis filters which removes even more chemicals than the 53, however I feel this is a bit overkill for a home filter.

4) Go for a product that has at least a 3 year warranty. That way you don't have to keep spending $30+/- every year on the same darn product. I'm surprised that this product has a 5 year warranty when the same model in my local Home Depot only had a one year warranty.

After doing some more research, I've found this product here:

Bestfilters Countertop Superior Water Filter System - White - with 1 Micron Carbon Block Water Filter

Price isn't too bad and it is certified for NSF 53. The KX Matrikx PB1 filter has an ABSOLUTE pore size of 1 micron, which removes giardia and cryptosporidium as these guys are larger in size than 1 micron. Be careful of filters that claim a NOMINAL pore size of 1 micron as these can let 20-30% of particles greater than 1 micron through.

Hope this helps.

I was pleasantly surpised to see just how easily this filter installed on my kitchen faucet. Although I had great tasting water before its installation, I feel better now knowing that the water is "cleaner" than before. There are only two drawbacks that I see, namely, the filter often gets in the way when filling a pot for on the stove, and the replacement filters are not cheap---they each cost about as much as HALF the price of the original filter system. I have had my filter system for a bit more than three months, and the replacement indicator just became visible...time to spend money for a new filter cartridge!

I've been using this product for almost two years and it's been kind of a rough ride. The water tastes great and the cartridges usually last at least two months for my family, and we drink a lot of water.

The problem lies in the construction of the unit itself. I have to replace the little rubber o-ring inside the hinge of the filter unit every two months or so as it begins to tear and allows the faucet to leak considerably. Also, a leak has formed at the edge of the life indicator window, threatening to shoot the user in the abdomen every time the filter is used.

The water is great. The cardridges last an acceptable amount of time but are expensive (as are they all.) The construction is somewhat shoddy and you'll want to replace yours within a year or two.

While the filtered water from the Pur system tastes great it just isn't worth the hassle. After trying both vertical and horizontal styles I have given up on Pur. I have been through 5 of them and none has lasted through more than 3 filters. The unit will start leaking and spraying all over the kitchen and since it is entirely plastic there is no way to repair them. I personally have had good luck with contacting Pur. Twice they replaced the unit at no cost but the replacements broke within a couple of months. But replacing shouldn't be the answer. I don't know what to buy next as every other brand seems to have similar problems. And the companies don't seem to be trying to find a solution to the defects. - Pur Purifier - Pur - Faucet Water Filters - Green 3'

This product is nothing like the original hook that comes with your bluetooth. After two weeks, I have broken two of the six with very easy usage. The plastic is hard, cheap, and does not slide on or move around easily. 6 pc Ear Hook Loop Clip Replacement. Bluetooth Repair Parts (3-blk, 3-clr) One-size-fits-most for: Motorola H-series 270 371 375 385 390 560 620 680 681 685 690 695 780 790 12 15. Just when I was ready to throw out my blue tooth because my ear clip broke off, I found this one! Perfect! Without the ear clip the blue tooth is useless! Selling 6 ear clips like this is a great idea because they do wear out. I have not found them anywhere else. All the other stores just want to sell you a new blue tooth which can be expensive. Thanks for a great product!

I spent way too much time reading reviews on this little piece o' plastic. Who knew how important they are until I broke my original one?

So far my experience with this product has been the following: it fits the BT like the original, it allows movement of the BT (not too much, not too little), it's comfy on the ear. It doesn't look as smooth and finished as the original but who gives a rat's ass? It appears to be more flexible than the original one which might as well have been made of candy, it broke so easily. I haven't tried bending it double like the guy did in the video but I bet it would survive that unless I really got into it.

It arrived in short order. Packaging was no frills. Buy it. It solves yer problem and then some.

I ordered these ear hook loops to replace the one that originally came with my jawbone. When I received them I noticed that the U shaped part that is attached to the hook part didn't have a swivel joint in it! Consequently it was next to impossible to put the hook on my ear or for it to stay in place. How anyone would get this to work is beyond me. What a rip off. Since they were so cheap, postage and handling were more than what they cost, I pitched them. From the picture it was hard to determine, after I realized it didn't have the swivel piece, to see that part was ridgid. Very dissatisfied and discouraged. Definately would not recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Out of 6 ear hooks only 2 fit the bluetooth (Motorola H15)and the first of the 2 broke the 3rd time I used it.

I'm taking extra care with the 2nd so that it will last longer than a day.

Instead of mentioning that there are 3 clear and 3 black they should point out that there are clear and black in each of 3 different sizes giving you 2 usable (until they break) ear hooks.

Although in product description it says these earhooks fit Samsung Wep490 they DO NOT! I bought these for my samsumg bluetooth wep490 and they are too big they fall right off the bluetooth. Seems a little scamy to me.

I'm ordering the Samsung brand which is more expensive but should fit since its the manufacturer sending it.

No stars!!! - Accessories - Bluetooth - Motorola - Bluetooth Headset'

Motorcycle Battery Charger - accessories, battery chargers

I've owned several different car battery chargers in the last few years and all have been a disappointment. I need to charge my car battery several times each winter due to the extreme cold in my area which means I am very reliant on my car charger in order to get to work. I have spend hundreds of dollars on similar car chargers that have cost me a great deal more than this one and they have all caused problems for me. Two of the chargers I owned overcharged my batteries which resulted in me needing to purchase new car batteries and toss the chargers in the trash. Another charger just stopped working after a few uses. I have been using this charger all winter with no problems at all. This is quite a feat in my experience. The charger uses sensors to detect how to charge my battery without destroying it and the charger itself is very well built and sturdy. The user manual is very informative and easy to follow so that I was able to quickly make use of the charger soon after I got it in the mail. I highly recommend this charger to anyone who is sick of wasting money on chargers that fail or damage motor vehicle batteries. This is a great product at an extraordinary price. A+ NOCO G3500 NOCO Genius Gray 6V and 12V 3500mA (3.5A) Fully Automatic Battery Charger and Maintainer

I have gotten myself 5 of these chargers and plan to get a few more soon. These things are just more then what you can read about. To say the least these truly are very smart chargers. They also do really charge faster then any other charger I have ever used. I use them to charge all our power wheel batteries, I have to/try to keep up with 17 batteries. The kids can wear out a battery and this will have it back to 100% in 2 hours (nap time). All the safety feature are truly a must having these around the kids as well. I recommend these to anyone who owns any type of battery. As far as the charging of power wheels batteries go, make a quick connect you will thank yourself.

Great charger and very versatile, can charge multiple toys (i.e. car, motorcycle)

I liked (and neeeded) the cold/agm mode for charging agm batteries, very useful!

Its good that it is small and light weight so I can use it anywhere.

With the Noco there is no risk of overcharging my battery, it can be left connected to the battery indefinitely which I have done countless times and previously had problems.

Recommended

This is one of the best battery chargers I've bought, and don't think I'll ever need to look anywhere else for

a charger again. Not only does it produce some great, quality charge which helps return batteries to their

maximum capacity, but it does it quickly too. In terms of pricing, I would be happy to pay more for a charger

of this quality.

Nearly everything seems to need a battery in my home. I got so tired of buying overly expensive batteries that I decided to invest in this battery charger because it showed promise, unlike others I have tried. We used to have to purchase batteries frequently for our outdoor equipment. Now I realize how important having this charger is because it is convenient and saves us a lot of money and time.

The charger is not heavy like normal chargers as it is small and compact. That in itself is amazing! What's unique about it is that it uses a VosFX processor that determines when to charge the battery and when not to. My neighbor and I tested my car battery after we charged it, and to our surprise, it fully charged to 100% of the batteries capacity.

A great feature is that the charger is very easy to use, plus, it comes with an awesome manual that is filled with detailed information, including some great battery tips.

I bought this battery charger after buying a really cheap charger for my tractor, which killed my battery. It was a manual charger that never shut off and overcharged my battery. So i did some research and found this charger. It is more expensive than the cheap charger, but it was well worth the price. What really sold me on this charger was all the features, and, of course, it is fully automatic. This charger is awesome. I have this charger connected to my (new) battery and it is working great. I used the eyelet terminals that were provided to permanently mount the battery connectors to my battery. Now I can quickly disconnect and connect the charger after every use. I really liked the quick disconnect harness. Very fancy and easy to use. I leave this charger connected to the battery all the time, as it only charges my battery when its needs charged. This charger is really simple to use and the manufacturer provides an excellent manual. I also liked the charging LEDs on this charger. You can quickly tell if your battery is charged. I would recommend this charger to anyone, es[especially if you have a vehicle that is not used often. I am going to buy a couple more for my garage to charge my UTV and ATV.

If you have a vehicle that you dont use often, this battery charger is awesome. Charged my batteries fast and did not overcharge. This charger is perfect for anyone that has multiple toys (i.e. car, atv). Charges at 3.5A for cars and 900ma for atvs. A super versatile charger that everyone should own. I also really liked the manual. Honestly, could be one of the best manuals I have seen for a product of this class. Tech support is fast and very informative on any questions regarding their product and batteries. This is a first class charger. I highly recommend it.

I tried this brand out and I was not let down. This charger works just as advertised. I tried one to maintain my motorcycle and it kept my battery fully charged. My last charger cooked my battery. I was tried of those cheap chargers, so i sprung for this hi-end charger. Well worth the money. This battery charger is loaded with features. All I can say is wow! Plus, really nice packaging. They clearly went out of their way to design a top end charger. - Charger - Battery Chargers - Accessories - Battery Charger'

Dell 90 Watt Ac Adapter - e1505, dell 90 watt ac adapter

I suppose you get what you pay for. I bought this thinking it was a steal, but in fact Dell won't let it charge my E1705 Inspiron battery. Not sure if that's Dell's fault or the amperage, but keep this in mind if you want to buy this unit. It's not a suitable replacement for the Dell version of this, which apparently is also unreliable and costly. brand new AC Power Adapter for use with Dell Inspiron E1405, E1505, E1705 Series Laptop

First I will have to say the product works just fine so far, shipping was a couple days slower then anticipated, my problem is with the photo in the original ad. It clearly shows all 3 components of the adapter, the power cord the adapter itself and the cord going to computer, all I recieved was the adapter and cord to computer. I do know by research it is the computer cord part that goes bad on these units, but what if I had needed the powr cord section too.

I will call genuine adapters and tell them they should change photo or at least give you description of what you will recieve, as this is quite misleading

This is a revised review, the unit quit working 2 days after I recieved it, it does not charge it only goes to ac power, when I emailed company was told to send it back, I said send me another to try and I would return the old one in the new ones box. This was not acceptable to them, they wanted me to foot the cost of the shipping for there POS part, what crappy customer service, I feel they buy these by the truckload and sell them, if they work good if not to damn bad for us consumers

This is the 3rd time my adapter has broken. The part that plugs into the laptop keeps falling out or breaking off. The first replacement I got was from Dell, it didn't cost me anything because I was still under the 1-year warranty, but it always gave me an error message when I plugged it in. That is it would say that the adapter was not recognised and it could slow down my system performace. Anyway, I lived with it because it seemed to work fine anyway. However 8 months later, the metal fitting broke again! A replacement through Dell I learnt cost $80. This was a cheaper AND better alternative because not only does it work but I no longer get the error message when I plug it into my laptop. It's been a month and still going strong.

UPDATE: Although product worked well a month out, about three months later, the plastic casing started coming off, exposing the metal wire underneath. It broke at the point where the wire meets the metal adapter that is plugged into the laptop. Very dangerous situation. I had to have the adapter replaced yet again. Why can't anyone seem to make a decent plug for these things?!?!

I ALMOST didn't order this item because of the negative reviews. However, I was in a pinch and needed the item the next day or I wasn't going to be able to use my Dell laptop. I crossed my fingers and ordered...

This item is great at a price that can't be beat! I have no idea what the other negative reviewers are talking about. I took it out of the box, plugged it in and it started charging my laptop immediately. Performance wise it's as good as the original Dell charger. The only difference it that it's a little lighter in weight and doesn't say "Dell", although the labels are identicle except for the word "Dell". It does NOT come with the elastic strap to wrap up the cord like the original, but that's removable so just swap it out! In short, great item and don't be afraid to order.

************************************* Update 2/17/2011 **************************************************************************************************

This product stopped working completely. It was a five star product until it stopped working in less than one year... I'm going to order another charger (different from this one) from Amazon that will also work with my laptop and will update in a few days.

My original Dell power supply for my Inspiron E1505 model failed me after about four years, so I got this as a replacement. I've used this for three months.

Pluses:

1. The power supply does allow my laptop to take a charge.

2. It's inexpensive even with boosted shipping price.

Cons:

1. The cord is not as long as the original, but I find 9 feet to be enough normally.

2. Mine had no strap, so that was a bit misleading from the picture.

3. The cord wears off quickly and exposes wire. It did this on the detachable outlet-plug end for mine on both sides. Some electrical tape may be in order.

Overall, it was worth the purchase for me for the price. Given the other reviews, my guess is penny-pinching quality control. There may be issues charging with other models. If yours isn't working well, bother the seller.

Within a couple of weeks of regular use, this replacement AC adapter was falling apart; a month in, it was making scary explosive sounds and burning when I plugged it in. The power cable part from the wall is not made to wrap around the adapter, as the Dell original product design calls for. As a result, the plastic broke exposing the copper wire, which became frayed and torn. I can only hope that it has not damaged my laptop while I wait for an original Dell replacement to arrive. This product should be dropped from Amazon's catalogue, I would never buy anything from this manufacturer again and highly recommend against purchasing this charger. - E1505 - Dell 90 Watt Ac Adapter - Dell Inspiron - Dell Replacement Ac Adapter'

Bluetooth Headset - icon, aliph

I have an earlier model bluetooth that I liked, but it suffered from the same problem as all bluetooths I have had so far--it would turn itself on in my pocket. This would occasionally lead to my thigh making a call to a random person or the battery draining prematurely. That has changed with this model Jawbone. I LOVE the fact that this model has a rocker switch to turn it on and off. No more turning on by mistake! It also connects to the phone much faster than any other bluetooth I've had, the moment the switch it moved, there is only a half second before it connects to the phone. Also, the pairing of the device is quick and easy. I turned it on for the first time and it was already in discovery mode, so I didn't have to hold this button and that button for X amount of seconds to get to discovery. Call quality is excellent, as expected from a jawbone. Jawbone ICON-Series Thinker Bluetooth Headset (Black)

Jawbone Rocks!

Good: Unparralleled noise cancelling technology, voice tells you how much talk time is left, great invisible style and I haven't yet tried the voice dial apps.

Better next time: I'll buy a different color, it is too easy to lose the black/white combo - this headset is beautiful and tiny, I need a different color so I can spot it better when I put it down.

I was skeptical about paying big bucks for a headset, but I was more tired of my spouse constantly griping that he could not hear me on my previous headsets (Jabra and Plantronics mid-price products). This headset is worth every penny! Noise cancelling technology is excellent. I had to take a business call in the middle of a P.F. Chang's lunch (P.F.'s is the most acoustically deafening place outside of a hammer testing factory). My callers thought I was in my office! Even hubby has stopped complaining (worth the dough just for that :) )

Comes with numerous options to attach to your ear and for me the 'in ear' one works fine and does not fall out. Love this headset - I'm Jawbone from now on!

I have owned all of the Jawbone models since the first. All are small and I have lost several. I now carry it in a separate zipper case with my phone number inside.

I had difficulty with some previous models. I never could get a comfortable fit with the wire ear loops. Later I learned to use only the rubber ear piece.

The greatest problem with previous models was the use of the pressure sensitive areas of the Jawbone. Reaching to adjust the position during a phone call would sometimes terminate the call or to turn off the Bluetooth connections. Also pressure on it in my small case would sometimes turn it "On" depleting the battery.

The redesign of the Icon has solved these problems as well as improving noise cancellation.

For me the greatest improvement has been the elimination of the pressure sensitive points.

The Icon now has a small sliding switch on the inside surface. Sliding this switch, showing a blue dot, automatically connects the Bluetooth feature of the phone. In addition, pressing a small pressure switch on the top surface next to the ear, allows a voice to announce the remaining talk time available.

Other features include a redesigned charger.

I have also found that the Icon is louder than my Nokia phone earpiece permitting easily heard phone calls in a noisy environment.

Jawbone has corrected and improved on their design to the point that I can not find any problems.

After reading some bad reviews of this product I was skeptical of purchasing it, but i'm glad I did. This version of the icon has a matte finish so it's not too flashy. The device easily paired up to my 3GS right out of the box. At first the sound was weak but after I updated it using Jawbone's updater it was way better. A2DP works wonderfully with the iphone and they just updated it and made it louder. Make sure you have a C: drive on you're computer or else the jawbone software won't be able to install. So far sound quality on both ends is very good and it works well in loud environments. I would recommend this bluetooth to any iphone owner since it has the battery meter and works with voice dialing. - Bluetooth Headset - Icon - Aliph - Bluetooth'

Digital Camera - compact flash, cf card

Oh my freaking Bagel-making Goddess, I would not recommend this product to my worst enemy! If you are reading this, I was just like you at one time: Hoping to save a couple bucks and get a nice sized flash card for cheap. I ordered two of these craps; one for me and one for my girlfriend to use in our photography class. After I excitedly tore open the package and thrusted it into our Canon Rebel, I painfully found out that you really do get what you paid for.

We had just taken about 20 photos of us messing around outside, when I received the fateful error message notifying me of a "CF Error". At first I thought it was just because I forgot to format it correctly or something. I then formatted it through the camera and proceeded cautiously. Everything was working fine, so I started taking more photos of us. It wasn't long before I got the error message again. I was getting really worried and a little pissed. Our class project shoot was coming up and so was our anniversary. I wanted to be able to depend on this card to at least get us through that before returning it. I thought to myself, maybe I was doing something wrong. I was previewing pretty quickly after each shot. Maybe that was the cause of the problem . Oh how wrong I was.

I went home and tried to figure out what the problem was. I mean, there were some good reviews of this card. Some people got it to work. Why can't I? I tried everything. Shooting in bursts then previewing it, turning it off while it was transferring to the card, etc. The only time it got the error was when I previewed it too early. So I thought that was the problem. We went out for our anniversary and since the card hadn't given us any problems since I stopped previewing each shot, I thought it would be ok. I was still paranoid though and backed it up at home right after our date. It made it through the whole day without an error. And so we felt a little easier about our shoot the next day. I just about finished shooting 80 pics and was right about to back it up, when I got the soul-crushing, baby-punch-rage-filling message "CF ERROR".

It was a good thing my girlfriend took it away from me before I physically broke and destroyed it. And so here I am, a mere 6 hours from the incident writing this lengthy review. I have never written a review for anything before this, but I wanted to make sure that whosoever decides to read this be educated on the terrors of this product. If I had read a detailed sob-story such as this, I would have never ordered this danged wicked shedevil. So please, if you're smart you would either buy a high-quality card from Amazon.com or go to wal-mart (I hate walmart too..) and buy a 4gb Sandisk (30mb/sec!!!) for only a few bucks more. Kingston 4 GB CompactFlash Memory Card CF/4GB

I own 4 of these 4 GB memory cards for 2 of my trail cams. I swap the ones I've taken home and saved the wanted images on my computer for the ones that have new data in the cameras. They all have performed well to store images and/or video. My oldest set is about a year old and I've recently purchased a newer set.

I would consider myself within the "prosumer" photography market. You won't catch me buying a high end Canon 1D anytime soon, but as a graphic designer who has to shoot my own pictures sometimes (with my beloved 30D) having tons of storage for a good price is important. I originally purchased 2 of these cards for a 10 day trip to Poland, and because I wouldn't have access to a computer, I needed lots of storage. I popped the card in my 30D, hit the menu button then went to format card. The progress bar shot across the screen; everything A OK. Shot about 30 pictures on small JPEG, then switched to RAW and got about 50 shots in before I got the 'error' message other people reported. Turning the camera off, then back on again seemed to cure the ailment only temporarily however. Within batches of 25 shots I was getting error after error. Finally I could not continue shooting until I removed the battery, put it back in, and powered the camera back on.

I read that it is a VERY good idea to format new cards with your computer before using on a digital camera. I have formatted my card and it seems to be working much better now. I haven't shot 1000's of shots yet, so I cannot assure you that this is a bullet-proof fix. Other than this error issue, the price was excellent was better on amazon than ebay, newegg, or even any photography sites I checked. The speed seemed to be much better than my old Compact Flash card; I was able to shoot 5-6 RAW images in burst mode without getting a busy light. Keep in mind though that my camera is 8.1 megapixels, higher quality cameras will see degraded performance obviously.

Overall I gave this card a 4/5 because it works well... when it actually works. Just make sure you format with your computer BEFORE shooting.

I've used Kingston cards in ALL my dSLR's going back to 2002 including my older Fuji Finepix S1, S2 Pro and now my newer (Feb 2008) Nikon D300. Though I have much larger capacity cards now in the D300, The S2 pro only uses cards up to 2G so the Kingstons that I've used for years are STILL being used. I either use the Finepix S2 as a backup, or my young 'un uses the camera when we go out shooting together. I have NEVER, ever had a card fail or even hiccup. Basically, the same experience I had with the Transcend Memory cards extends to these. Either I've been really lucky, and/or the cards are fabulous, and/or I take care to FORMAT the card in camera after each download. Maybe a combination of all three I don't know. I do know I own four or five of the 2G Kingstons, and at least two 4Gig CF Kingstons. They are great just about fail proof.

And, in closing I would have to say that my 2 and 4G Kingstons have seen over 100,000 images through them over the course of several years. I trust them to do the job and never, ever have any qualms about popping them in the camera.

On a quick note I purchase my memory cards from various sources, not just Amazon. I shop for value, but I try to stick to the name brands of Kingston, Ridata, Transcend, and now own a couple of Lexar's. Shop around for the best price, but many times Amazone offers the best with the free ship options when available. - Compact Flash - Compactflash - Photography - Cf Card'

Braun Electric Razor - electric razor, braun razor

I have used electric shavers for almost 45 years and this is the best yet. I started shopping because local stores no longer stock replacement foils and cutters for my old Braun 3000.

I chose this mid-range product because the 7 series is way too expensive, the 5 series tilting heads seem too gimmicky and their replacement cutters cost more than $40 even though the foils seem to be identical in design to those of the 3 series.

The Series 3 370 is bigger and heavier than my old shaver, but the heft feels good and the handle design and rubberized gripping surfaces on both sides make it easy to hold and control.

I almost bought a series 3 340, but opted for the 370 for just $30 more because of the "lock" switch that lowers one foil and the middle cutter to make it easier to get at the area under the nose. I'm glad I did, because it really does work.

What surprised me most is how much more comfortable the shave is with the 370 than my old shaver with its single screen plus cutter bar. The independent movement of the foils and center cutter probably contributes to that comfort. The new foil design gives me a smoother shave as well, and the middle cutter does a good job of scavenging the odd long whisker that had evaded the old shaver. (At my age they're not black any more, so they're harder to spot and so may grow to some length before I see them.)

Especially in the neck area I notice that I'm shaving cleaner faster and with much less irritation than before.

The pop-up sideburn trimmer cuts well and rises high enough that it is easy to see where I'm trimming.

Because all of the series 3 models have an indicator light to show when the battery needs charging, I did not think it would matter that the 360 and 370 can be operated while the recharging cord is plugged in. That little bonus feature did turn out to be valuable though, when I forgot to charge it up and the battery went dead just when I was in a rush to touch up 5 o'clock shadow before heading out to a meeting. I did not have to wait several minutes for partial charge to get me through a cordless shave; just plugged in, finished my shave and headed out the door.

Another bonus is that the Series 3 370 is much quieter than the old shaver.

The only negative I have noticed is that this model comes with a nice zippered hard case, but there is no room for the cord in it, just the shaver.

By the way, the all-black 360 model is functionally identical, but comes with no case. Instead, it has a plastic snap-on foil protector that also shields the on/off button so it can't get turned on in your shaving kit while traveling. For some strange reason, the 360 model costs $20 more than the 370. Go figure.

Final note: There is another Series 3 370 model listed for less money on Amazon, but it is an older design with different cutters and is not featured among current models on Braun's web site. Braun Series 3 370 Men's Shaver

The 3 370 shaver glides over your face easily but that may be because it isn't shaving that close. My old Braun (model 5525) still shaves well but wasn't charging for as long as it used to so I bought this model.

I don't like the fact that it has to have its own unique cord. I bet they charge a fortune if you lose it. Shaver doesn't have a plastic head cover so you need to put it back into its hard plastic case to protect the shaving head. The case doesn't have room for the cord so it needs to be packed separately when travelling.

Easy to clean with running water for the head and a shaver brush (not included - keep your old one) for the shaver itself.

I purchased this shaver a couple of weeks ago. I was using an older 1000 series Braun before this one. It was cheap and worked well for the $40 or so I orginally purchased for. The bad thing is that the replacement head is almost as expensive as the original unit. So I began to look for a new unit all together.

I looked at most of the reviews and found that the earlier version of this same shaver wasn't exactly great. The new version seemed to address some of the flaws the old one had and I decided for the $80, why not. I've been using this for a little over a week and it is very smooth over my face. No razor bumps or irritation (I must note that I never got razor bumps or irritation on my other shaver, nor do I consider myself having extremely sensitive skin).

As all shavers though, it takes me multiple attempts to get the neck area. It's a pretty close shave for a shaver, I think it's simply impossible to compare it to a blade. Another interesting note that I observed when looking at other reviews is that it lacked the ability to get longer hairs. For example, if you didn't shave over the weekend and you let it grow out until Monday morning. I tested this out and to my surprise it actually performed the same as if I shaved the day before. naturally, it took a little bit more time, but that is always the case. I must note that my facial hair does not grow out like a grizzly so this may be part of the problem others had.

I opted out of buying theversion that had the base cleaner because I felt it was not worth the extra money. It takes you only a couple of seconds to run this under hot water. I do wish it came with a plastic cover for the shaver head, but that's minor. Overall, i'm satisfied with this product and would recommend it to others. If you are a reasonable person and understand that this electric shaver is not going to give you the same shave as a knife/blade than I can guarantee you will enjoy it. - Electric Razor - Braun Electric Razor - Braun 370 - Braun Razor'

Range Extender - extender, repeater

It came in the mail yesterday and I had it up and running in about 15 mins. So installation gets 5 stars. And it definitely works as an extender as I am now getting full signal strength upstairs in my bedroom while the router is in the far corner of the basement. All appeared to be good until I started to do more than surf the internet. I couldn't hold a connection to my company's VPN and I kept losing connection when I tried to download podcasts to itunes. I unplugged it and I haven't seen the problem since, so it has to be the extender causing the issue. It not only causes a problem with my laptop upstairs, but any computer on the network. The D-Link forum has several complaints with the same issue, but D-link has yet to respond to these complaints. The closest I saw to a recommended fix was in their Knowledgebase - they recommended changing the "Preamble" setting to "short" (default is "long") for busy networks or for downloading large files. I will try this when I get home tonight and see if this corrects the issue.

UPDATE: 5/26/2010 - I switched the Preamble to "short" and that did nothing to solve my problem. Back to the ol' drawing board! Next stop, tech support. Ugh!

UPDATE: 6/3/2010 - I emailed customer support a week ago and have heard nothing. Also, they have failed to respond to their own customer forum regarding this same issue. Lame, very lame. They leave me no option but to return this item. D-Link DAP-1360 Wireless N Range Extender

I recently purchased an iPad and was having some connection troubles in my upstairs bedroom. My main router, a D-Link gaming router, sits downstairs about as far away as possible, so I went looking for a device that would extend my network. At first I was looking at buying another wireless router for upstairs and would then just turn off DHCP and set it to be an access node, but then found this little guy and put it upstairs, but about halfway away from my main router.

PROS:

- Pretty simple setup.

- Worked as expected on the first try! (WPA-2 worked no problem.)

- I get a strong connection now to my downstairs router with my iPad and other wireless devices upstairs.

CONS:

- Lack of polish in the interface. One screen in the web interface has some text in Spanish, and there's a variety of grammar/spelling mistakes.

- This may be possible but I couldn't find it: A way to see the strength of the connection the device itself has to the home router, similar to what you'd see in Windows. Like I said, there may be a way to do it, but I couldn't find one.

- The website doesn't have any firmware entries for this device, so I'm assuming 1.02 is the only firmware available, so following the other reviews, be careful about the password stuff. I didn't have any problems with it.

- It's a little pricier than I think it needs to be if you were to compare it to a full-blown Wireless-N router that you could just turn features off on.

Summary: I'd buy this again in a heartbeat though as it works as expected, but I took a star off for the bugs in the web interface, some missing statistics that would seem useful, and the price.

While the above prior review is accurate, the password issue seems to be the ONLY issue. The configuration works well and is simple.

I believe the problem here is if you use a password that is either too long or has special characters.

When you put in such a password, then it does not flag the problem, rather it just takes you back to the login screen... and then you can't login!

I agree the firmware needs a patch for this, but apart from this it works as advertised and very nicely has improved (in repeater mode) the range and coverage of my WiFi.

I've only had it a few days, so can't comment on reliability of failure over long time of use.

Suggestion.. change your admin password when you first get it out of the box, that way you don't waste time configuring it, only to have to do a reset because of the password glitch if you put in one that doesn't work.

Finally.. I've had the same issue with Linksys camera, do don't "dis" Dlink alone on this one. as far as I am concerned, the whole industry including web based banking needs to open up unrestricted passwords with no character limitations and no maximum length (within reason, say at least 24 characters).

I tried to use this is a range extender and failed miserably. Although I am adept at configuring cabled and wireless routers, this one was a stumper. Almost no useful online help. Considering that my router is D-Link (DIR-655) I expected this to work but it does not.

I have returned this item to Amazon (simple and smooth), bought instead a D-Link DIR-628 wireless router, configured it as an Access Point (much better documented, basically disable DHCP and PnP) and I got my range extended! You could do this if you have a couple of wired spots where you could place this Access Point. In my case I has a wired spot on the second floor where I connected the second router (DIR 628) and I now get excellent Wi-Fi connectivity for the iPhone, iPad and Laptops used upstairs.

So two D-Link products, one designed to extend the range and, for me, was a waste of time (I would have given it zero stars if I could). The second is a versatile router that allowed me to extend the reach of my network with a few configuration changes. Both cost about the same... - Range Extender - Repeater - Extender - Wireless'

Home Theater Speakers - desktop speakers, pc speakers

I needed speakers for my office to play music through iPhone as well as PC. My first criteria was they must have full spectrum range (20Hz-20KHz) and that usually also means it need have dedicated bass speaker (i.e. 2.1 system). It just surprised me to no end that almost all 2.1 speakers in market including the expensive ones from well known companies like Logitech did not actually have full range! Infect after thoroughly looking at current line of products from Logitech and Creative I really think that they are ripping off customers by selling highly priced speakers but really weak in technical specs. Many time these companies actually don't even publish this fact visibly and you have to dig deep in to their websites to find technical data. The 2nd criteria was that the speakers should have at least 10W of power. In my view, speakers that you intend to keep 3-4 feet away and that have less than 5W of power don't sound much better than laptop speakers because they will need to run at 50-70% of volume and all the distortion that would occur at higher end. The 3rd criteria was magnetic shielding because speakers would be placed near computer equipment. Although with LCD screens this really doesn't matter but still having shielding is nice. My 4th criteria was price should be less than $100 although I was little flexible here to shell out more money for better speakers.

Now the ONLY speakers in market that not only meets all these 4 criteria but also exceeds them are Eagle Tech ET-AR504LR.

Sound Quality: These speakers are UNBELIEVABLE. Quite a few of my colleagues who came to my office and listen to these speakers were simply blown away with the clarity, quality of bass and crispness. For fun I asked them to guess the price and answers I got were in the range of $150 to as far as $350 :). When listening to lot of my old music on these speakers I can now clearly hear many background instruments that I didn't used to hear before. Bass is very powerful, deep and pleasant like what you would hear from high end home theater system. Also they have dedicated twitters so high pitch sounds have amazing clarity unlike many 2.1 desktop speakers which only focuses on deep bass.

Wattage: These babies sport 75W. To put it in perspective, I can literally hear music down the hallway 4 offices away and through many many walls (each office is about 12-15 ft wide)! The bass gets so powerful that you can see vibration in glass window! Even at 1/3th volume my colleague in next office can hear and feel that bass :). Good thing is that even at high volume they retain their sound quality. Most of the time however I play music at 10% to 18% of full volume.

Shielding: The build quality of these speakers is excellent. I have placed them near laptop, near PC, near LCDs and everything has worked fine as before. All speakers, especially the big bass one, are enclosed in high quality wooden construction.

Size: These speakers are about twice bigger than usual portable speakers you see on desktops. Bass speaker is even bigger and heavier. So these are not something that you can carry around with you all the time in your laptop bag. They are best for fixed desktop work space.

Stereo cable length: I feel it's bit shorter but I haven't felt yet need to buy that 3.5mm stereo extender from Radioshack. The built-in cable length works for my desktop table arrangement.

Other stuff: The front of these speakers have cool blue LEDs and electronic equalizers although I haven't found its use. It also comes with remote control which also I have never used but its nice to have.

Bottom line is that these speakers throws every other speakers in dust even those expensive ones in $100-$200 range. You would want to listen music just because of superb sound quality of these speakers! Eagle Tech ET-AR504LR-BK 2.1 Soundstage Speakers with Subwoofer & Remote

PROS: Very easy to setup & use. Trebles are clear and bass are deep, it sounds on par with the more expensive Z4 that I have hooked up to my wife's PC. Now that I am building another HTPC for myself, I decided to give Eagle a try and couldn't be happier. Couch potatoes like me will really like the wireless remote control (for those LOTR fanatics, you know how loud the movie can get and I needed a quick way to turn down the volume and/or to quickly boost treble/bass during the quieter part of the movie).

CONS: User manual had typos. The RCA audio cables coming from the satellites are too short. I mean come on!! my arms are longer than that... Okay - that was annoying but not a deal breaker since i just picked up a pair of RCA audio cables for less than $2 at local radio shack store. The other thing is that for some reason my speakers would turn ON with the volume all turned up. I later found out that it actually RESETS the digital EQ whenever power is turned OFF. What the [...] ARGGGG~ again, annoying but not a deal breaker since I just left them ON all the time, no biggie.

CONCLUSION: If you were looking to spend around ~$100 on a set of name brand speakers then this one will probably do the job just fine, while saving you some money. Amazon's free shipping makes this a complete steal. Mine arrived in 2 days & no shipping charges. Just wow! - Pc Speakers - Desktop Speakers - Eagle Tech - Great Value'
