Porter-cable - porter-cable, 23 gauge

I usually don't write reviews of a tool until I've used it quite a bit, but I'm going to make an exception in this case because there is only one other review. I would like to thank Jim, the first reviewer, as his comments inspired me to take the plunge and try this product.

This Hitachi NP35A is my first micro pinner, although I do own and use a few larger pneumatic tools (15 gauge nailer, 18 gauge nailer, 2 staplers). I typically prefer to use screws rather than nails, but there are occasions when the unique attributes of a power driver nail outweighs it's many disadvantages.

Here are my first impressions of the Hitachi NP35A 23 Gauge Nailer.

Pros:

o compact, lightweight, and comfortable to hold.

o high quality product, for example magazine slides in and out with smooth precision.

o trigger is comfortable, double trigger is relatively easy to get used to.

o the soft nose tip leaves no mark whatsoever on even soft woods.

o very quiet, pleasant to use (no hearing protection needed with this little guy).

o easy side loading of pins, and automatically adjusts to different pin sizes.

o using the soft tip, appropriate air pressure, and good technique, pins are driven to a perfect depth just below the surface (the depth is adjustable via the use of a hex wrench on the nose piece).

o surprising nice blow molded plastic case.

o an easy to see bright orange "low pin indicator" (of course, it doesn't work if one is not paying attention and doesn't look at it ... just one of my many faults I'm afraid....)

o although the minimum specified pin length is 5/8", I was able to use the 3/8" pins without a problem (this is quite a good thing, for my projects).

o made in Taiwan (often a significant step up in quality compared to China made goods).

Cons:

o the manual has a few typos (e.g. "all crews must be tightened..."), and it is bloated with the usual tedious and uninformative safety stuff (dictated by lawyers, presumably), but really, you can probably see that I'm nit-picking here.

Notes:

I have tested this product primarily with Western Fir (actually harder than many "hard woods"), and a sample piece of 100 year old clear white oak (recovered from a badly broken desk). As long as one presses the tip firmly to the wood all pins are driven flush, although one does have to crank up the air pressure a bit for longer pins and harder wood.

I used Grex 23 gauge pins (since they come in a convenient multi-size package, available here on amazon for about ten dollars).

The longest pin length I tried was 1". This gun is specified to be able to handle 1-3/8, and I do not doubt that it will, but for now I can't see myself needing or wanting to drive these incredibly tiny, thin little needles into anything that would require longer lengths. However I know that many people do use much longer pins. Perhaps as I become more comfortable and experienced with this tool I too will join the super-sized crowd.

As you probably know, these pins are much smaller than 18 gauge brads, and much less noticeable. However, they are not invisible, especially in lighter woods. Nonetheless, they are much less visually distracting than their 18 gauge cousins. Also, if you build small things (say drawer inserts using 3/16" thick dividers) an 18 gauge brad is simply too big - it would split the wood - whereas a 23 gauge pin works very nicely (along with a bit of glue).

Hope this information is helpful to you. Hitachi 23 NP35A Gauge Micro Pin Nailer

Had purchased a pin nailer from HF about 7 months ago and now finishing up a trim job on kitchen cabinets it decided to quit accepting 1 inch pin nails. Ran a search on Amazon and found this one. I have 2 other Hitachi nailers, so I ordered this for overnite delivery (Amazon Prime). Used it today and absolutely no problems. Its light, accurate and the nose pad protects the work piece. You do have to adjust the depth when using the nose pad. Adjustment is quick and easy. Hitachi makes some questionable quality items, but I have found their nail guns to be of a high caliber. If you need a high quality pin nailer, this is it.

11/4/2010

UPDATE:I guess I spoke too soon !! All of a sudden it started to jam. Tried various manufacturers pin nails and they all jam frequently. A real shame!! Gonna have to return it.

I bought this gun when my 5 year old Porter Cable gun gave up. What this gun does that the PC didn't is shoot 1 3/8" nails and set them below the surface in hardwoods. The PC was/is a good gun, but I feel this gun is better. It shoots bigger nails and costs less. As long as I get at the least the same amount of use from it as my PC, I'll be a happy woodworker.

excellent product for the money when compared to high end guns like grex or duofast.very light and comfortable to work with, not to mention easy loading.it's one of the few nailers in the $100 price range that shoots 5/8"-1 3/8" 23 gauge pins

I was so glad to get my micro pin nailer in the mail. It did let me down however. This nailer would consistently drive the nail too shallow despite trying to adjust the depth. I had to take off several moldings and trim pieces due to the remaining nails sticking out about 1/4 of an inch. I do not think this device was made to drive nails in that are greater than 1 inch despite what the manufacturers details may tell you. The product is made to drive fasteners up to 1 and 3/8" but in my experience this was not the case. I will return the product and save my money for the Grex micro pinner.

I bought this pinner a while back after deciding I wanted something that leaves smaller holes than 18 gauge brad nails and won't split delicate pieces.

I narrowed my choices down to the Hitachi and the Grex P635. I'm sure I would have been happy with the Grex, and kind of still want one, but the Hitachi was on sale and included a free polyurethane (the light, flexible kind) air hose. I placed my order and grabbed some Grex pins to go along with it.

The gun itself is very small and easy to handle. I have meaty fingers and never have any issues with the double trigger safety, a standard on pin nailers. It has a nice rubber nose piece to protect workpieces.

Pins are easy to load, but I can't say much for jam clearing, as I haven't had a jam with this pinner yet.

The main reason I bought this gun was to use it to pin hard maple corner blocks into place in the small arcade stick cases I build while the glue sets. Even with the cases made of hard maple or walnut, the gun has performed flawlessly. At 85 psi, with the gun firmly held to the work piece, it sinks the pins below the surface every time, and never splits the small 3/4 x 3/4 x 1 3/8" hard maple corner blocks. The pins hold tightly while the glue sets up.

It's not very loud either, but I can't imagine any of the pin nailers being loud.

To sum it up, it's a great pin nailer for the money, all things considered. It has a 5 year warranty too, which a lot of premium nailers don't even have (Grex is 1 year). It's handled everything I've needed of it, so as much as I'd like a Grex, the Hitachi will probably be my standby for a very long time. - 23 Gauge - Porter-cable'

Ubiquitous Computing - interaction design, donald a norman

His basic argument in this book is that the computer industry has matured to the point where it can no longer just cater to the early-adopter technologists and must appeal to the masses to continue growth. Unfortunately, the industry doesn't know how to do this and continues to deliver technology for technology's sake, leading to fat computers and technology that aren't that useful or appealing to most people, and are beginning to exhaust the technologists too. He introduces some recent, but standard models of technology adoption for discussing the problems, customer-centered design in cross-disciplinary teams (marketing, engineering, and user experience) for designing products that transcend the problems (explicitly discussing Contextual Design a few times), and "information appliances," multitudes of small, task-focused technology products that will replace our big, cumbersome, general-purpose (but not great at any) PCs.Norman's forte is definitely cognitive and experimental psychology in product design, and not being a technological or product development process visionary. I found very little new or interesting content in the book, and I don't think he articulated even some of the derived ideas very well. The whole book could have been condensed into a long magazine article. His prose is wordy and redundant, and the book is regrettfully lacking in many of the detailed case studies and examples he's used in previous books to elucidate his ideas. I want the idiosyncratic and outspoken psychologist professor back, such as he was in The Design of Everyday Things, or the powerful academic argument of Things That Make Us Smart. His short stint as a VP of HPs "Information Appliances" division, and his earlier work at Apple, was not enough to give him a deep understanding or insight into the problems of the current technology-product market. He does make some good book recommendations, however, and I'll add my favorite articulation of the problem, that I think articulate the problem and potential solutions much better:C. M. Christensen, _The Innovator's Dilemma: When New Technologies Cause Great Firms to Fail_, 1997. G. A. Moore, _Crossing The Chasm: Marketingand Selling High-Tech Goods to Mainstream Customers_, 1991. T. K. Landauer, _The Trouble With Computers: Usefulness, Usability, and Productivity_, 1995. The Invisible Computer: Why Good Products Can Fail, the Personal Computer Is So Complex, and Information Appliances Are the Solution

I'm a fan of Donald Norman's work so when I finally had achance to pick up "The Invisible Computer" I had high hopes.Unfortunately, this work didn't provide the same insight andfocus as his previous books such as "The Design of EverydayThings".Throughout the work Norman draws upon "Crossing the Chasm"and "Inside the Tornado: Marketing Strategies from SiliconValley's Cutting Edge" [both by Geoffrey Moore]. Alsoheavily emphasized are the ideas put forth by "TheInnovator's Dilemma: When New Technologies Cause Great Firmsto Fail." All of these books are interesting--but I wantedsomething from Norman himself.Chapter 7, "Being Analog", was more in line with what I hadcome to expect from Norman. He ends this chapter with this:"Alas, most of today's machines, especially the computer, force people to use them on their own terms, terms that areantithetical to the way people work and think. The result isfrustration, an increase in the rate of error (usuallyblamed on the user--human error--instead of on faultydesign), and a general turning away from technology. Willthe interaction between people and machines be donecorrectly in the future? Might schools of computer sciencestart teaching the human-centered approach that is necessaryto reverse the trend? I don't see why not." That's what I'mlooking for! If only the rest of the book had followed thatpassion.Instead focusing on human factors and man-machineinterface issues, Norman wanders discussing substitutablegoods vs. nonsubstitutable goods, a rehash of why softwareis hard to write (and the mythical man month), and even someembarrassing admissions now that he'd spent some time outsideacademia and worked a bit in industry: "Time, or rather thelack of it, I was starting to learn, is one of the greatestbarriers to quality". As my young nieces would say to me,"duh!"Finally, although written in the late 1990's with thepaperback edition published in 1998, I found the text toalready be a bit dated. You don't realize how quickly thecomputer industry moves until you find a book frozen in timelike this one.My recommendation is to read Norman's other works and theworks he recommends here (Crossing the Chasm, Inside theTornado, and Innovator's Dilemma). Finally, I recommend"Machine Beauty" by David Gelernter. It provides morepassion and keener insights than this work--and is generallymore fun to read!

The book is a rallying cry for the technology industry, a call to arms for the geek troops. Sure, the writing is like a beta version that the publisher decided to go live with, but the essential concepts and emotion come through loud and clear.Norman builds a solid foundation for his arguments, citing historical cases and several written works. The book was a fun, easy read. When I finished Invisible Computer, I felt the same sort of illumination and clarity that came after reading Alan Cooper's About Face. His vision of ubiquitous information appliances and devices will undoubtedly come true in ways none of us can imagine. But what will become of the PC? Will I have 100 individual devices replacing the 100 software programs I have installed? Hardly. But the book doesn't really address the ongoing need for a general purpose computer. In the end, I would recommend this book to anyone involved in technology. It definitely altered my personal perception of where tech products have come from and where they are headed. Time will tell if his ideas are strong enough to truly help shape the future of software and product development. - Ubiquitous Computing - Interaction Design - Product Design - Donald A Norman'

Aa Batteries - led, bright

This is by far, the most useful lantern I own.... The natural colored light is AWESOME.

1.) It's small, and easy to put in the backpack

2.) On low, (which is not much different from high) it runs a LONG time.

3.) It takes my rechargeable batteries easily (some lanterns are a bit too small such as my xb glorb).

4.) The light is NOT obnoxious, it has a tint that is just as good as an incandescent.

5.) The light output is appropriate for it's size (NO, It's not a gas lantern, but as far as LED's go, it's fantastic).

I have purchased two from this vendor and will purchase a couple more.

If you currently own old school LED's and hate the blueish light output, you won't regret purchasing this... It looks so close to normal light!

I just had a power outage due to some damage to lines, I was comfortable, able to navigate around my house, and suffered NO eyestrain. Two units were enough to give me ample light to take a bath, read, play cards, fix a sandwich and find batteries for my A.M. radio.

1/4/10 little lights are still going great, I love the color of the natural light. P.S. Eneloops will not last as long as long as 2650 mah batteries if you are using rechargeables. Small Package - Bright Light CREE XLamp Warm White Camping LED Lantern - 110 Lumens

This LED Lantern was just what I was looking for.

LED, thus a long battery life with low draw and low heat output compared to traditional bulbs.

Small Light Weight Package, that I hang from the Zipper on my Bimini top on my boat.

Bright 360 degree output for it's size, I run it on the low setting, but I wish there was an even lower level as option.

We hang this light from the Bimini Top on my 25' Boat and it easily provides a nice glow of light on the whole Open Cockpit. Much nicer than having to use a flashlight to make cocktails and find things. This latern just lights up the whole are.

My friend, just borrowed mine last week and he already ordered one for his Boat as well!!!

My only negative would be that the price seams high at first, but I don't regret paying it.

Very compact and very good built quality. Using 3 Eneloop AA-sized batteries, the light fades out after around 6 hours, not 12, when set to "High". On "Low" setting, it lasts closer to 9-10 hours, rather than the advertised 24 hours.

This lantern appears to be the rebadged (Chinese manufactured) Favourlight LTC-1613AA-W, which is a desirable lamp among "flashoholics." Has an aluminum body with rubber end caps and a CREE emitter. The lamp is available with either warm tint (as sold here) and there's another slightly brighter version of it available as a cool tint (that one is the LTC-1613AA) that's available at big box stores. Confusingly these lamps can be found under a variety of different brands. It's also possible to find a very similar looking lamp that does not have a Cree emitter (note the one sold here is clearly labeled CREE). There is another "pretender" lamp out there with the same look that has a plastic body. This lamp sold here on Amazon is "the real deal" and is the lamp that is widely sought after by people who do their research. This lamp is widely praised for its warm tint, which gives a much more natural rendition to green/brown outdoor colors...therefore good for camping. It's common for warm tints to be slightly dimmer than cool tints, and many people would gladly pay for the slight decrease in luminosity with a better tint, myself included. If you care to get more info on this light, you can search the candlepowerforums for a thread called the "Favourlight Mini Lantern Disambiguation Guide."

I have owned several LED lanterns, from little 5mm LED lanterns to the Apollo Black Diamond. This little gem is brighter than the Apollo at half the cost. You can read next to it effortlessly. It is lighter in weight than that expensive UCO candle lantern, and it is many, many times brighter.

The run time is about 6 hours at the brightest setting, and it will remain dimmer but still usable for a few hours after that. It might last a little longer at the brightest setting if it was regulated, but I would rather have it die gradually so I have time to replace the batteries, than have it last a little longer and have it the light die quickly. The build quality is superb with an anodized aluminum body and sturdy polycarb elsewhere. The top and bottom caps have protective rubber on them, and the top cap is easily removable to make a great, very wide flood angle flashlight with only a hint of a center hotspot. The end caps are sealed with O-rings so I would say that it is at least heavy rain proof, although I haven't tested this yet. I now own two of them and would love to buy two more. They are really that good.

I have seen this light criticized because of glare. Well, I don't find that a problem because I guess I don't look directly at it maybe? Not sure, but something that may help is wrapping the globe with something that diffuses the light a bit more. Scotch tape would work very well. That would be an easy fix if glare is a problem for you.

They are available in both the warm white and the cool white. Look around and you can find both. The cool white version used to be sold at Target under the River Rock brand name. I prefer the warm white. It's a little easier on the eyes and is a closer match to a typical incandescent light. The warm white is more of a natural light, whereas the white light is a bit too harsh, something like a cool white flourescent light.

After hours of digging on the internet, I found and purchased this light. Expecting a lantern not a little squirt light (only 5" tall), initially I was disappointed. This thing can't produce the light of my larger LED lantern, but side by side the squirt won! Not just the light output but the color of the light, nice and warm.

This will be perfect for camping/backup emergency light. A little pricey though. I claims 12 hours on high and 24 on low. Can't wait for the brighter verson, larger with more battery power. Just a note: the light is very bright concentrated light; it is very hard to look towards. - Bright - Led - Camping Lantern - Lantern'

Hp - laptop battery, hp

Purchased this battery for $36 as a replacement battery for my HP notebook computer, G60 series. The battery fits perfectly, and charged up well. I ran the calibration for the battery after charging the battery a couple of times. The battery seems to hold a great charge, seemingly lasting as long as the original battery did when the computer was first purchased, providing at least 2 hours of use with moderate use when using the HP recommendation power settings.

I don't know that there was an issue, however, about a week after installing the battery, my HP Total Care Advisor indicated problems with the battery. I recalibrated, and all has been good, and have checked the battery several times since then.

I noticed the battery dropped to $29 about a week or so after I bought it, which makes it an even better deal. I was even tempted to purchase an additional battery for that price. If this battery is still going strong in a month, and the price is below $30, I will more than likely do this, as even at less than $70 for two batteries, it is a steal, as I expected to pay $50 - $75 for a replacement battery when my original started going bad.

As a prime member, my 2-day shipping came on schedule, and the battery was well packaged. UPDATE, April 19, 2011: It is about 3 months later (since I initially reviewed this product) and I am back to change my rating from 4 stars to only 1 star. Unfortunately, the battery will no longer hold a charge above about 1/3, even with recommended recalibrations. It worked well until about a week ago. It was about then that I also started noticing freezing issues with my laptop, requiring hard reboots (forced power downs). Maybe I simply got a dud; however, I will not be buying another one from the same vendor (Superb Choice); I'll be buying one from a difference vendor via "Amazon Fulfillment (LaptopMate)." I'll be back to append this review is the return does not go well.

INITIAL REVIEW: I have not had any problems with this battery, except for one, minor glitch, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. My HP notebook did not readily acknowledge the new, non-HP battery at first. After a second reboot, it did. But then, a few days later when I ran the batter test program, it reported "Replace" in the condition results.

Having some experience with this type of thing in the past, I re-calibrated the battery, via allowing it to drain completely while using the notebook without A/C power, then using A/C power to recharge it completely. After running the battery test again, it reported "Good" for the condition.

Since then, several weeks ago, it has consistently reported the condition of the battery as "Good," and I have not had any issues. The charge lasts as long as the old HP (the one I replaced) battery did when the notebook was new.

My Girlfriend's laptop had a depleted 12 cell battery which could no longer hold a charge for longer than five minutes. It not only needed to be plugged in but weighted quite a bit making it not very portable. Getting a new battery made it easier to carry by lowering the weight and making it less cumbersome by not having the battery jut out of the laptop. The battery life is decent and I am glad my girlfriend isn't lugging such a heavy backpack around anymore. :)

The battery works just fine. My computer will not recognize it though. Im not sure where the problem is but in order for the battery to charge, I have to plug the power cord in, remove the battery for a second and then put it back in. The laptop will charge the battery just fine after that.

Small price to pay for a cheap replacement battery I guess... I could have spent a whole lot more.

The battery I ordered was a great price and the correct battery for my HP computer according to the product description. There was a problem with the battery, however. When the battery was put in it's compartment underneath my laptop, it fell right out once the computer was lifted. The battery DID power up my computer, but it would not remain latched securely in it's compartment. It was as if the battery was manufactured just a bit too small. Will not purchase from this company again. - Hp - Laptop Battery'

Inspire Case

This case by HandHeld does snap on and off easily and it is rubberized in its own way. I like that the cut outs are matched perfectly to the HTC Inspire (and Desire HD). It'll be fine for some people; others will move on to higher quality.

It doesn't cost much so don't be shocked by the cheap feel of the unfinished edges, the little bumps that remind one of paint spatter, or the dried oil feel of the tacky rubberized material while wondering why there's no soft interior to protect the phone's finish and looking for a non-existant screen protector. HTC Inspire 4G Rubberized Black Protective Hard Case Faceplate Cover for HTC Inspire 4G - AT&T

It's a nice case, if you don't plan on taking it off your phone. I removed it to put on a screen saver, and the plastic clips broke off. They wanted me to pay for shipping to return it, but it's not worth the postage.

The case is durable and fits well. No interior padding to protect the phone. The rubberized coating peels off after a few days of use. Would not recommend to a friend. Have placed an order for a higher quality case.

I bought this cover for a friend of mine, and it was everything I was looking for. Great black color and it feels wonderful. Easy to clean and it's a unique cover that not many people will have. Would recommend this cover if you have this phone! LOVE IT!

When I recieved the item it was chipped I didnt mind the chip to much so I kept the item and I dealt with it. Little did I know that it would grow bigger and bigger now the item does not stay shut because of the chip on the corner that grew larger. I would purchase a rubber one if your in the market for a case going to look for another case now.

I bought this case because it looked to be the best for the low price.

It was great when I bought it: it looked nice and fit well on the phone.

People complain about it being too hard to remove the faceplate but thats good protection for the phone so it doesn't come off easily.

However, after 2-3 weeks the corners of the faceplate start to chip away causing the faceplate to not stay securely attached and I handled this phone with care. I guess it was just normal wear and tear.

I'm gonna buy another one that is of good quality and lasts a lot longer.

But if you want a cheap case to last you a couple weeks, this is great.

This phone case is buy far the biggest waste of money. No wonder it was so cheap. You decently get what u pay for with this peace of crap. After only one week of using it all of the coating peeled off. It was ridiculous.'

Do It Yourself - power tool accessories, hobby

This is an excellent accessory for the already-versatile rotary tool. The trick to its use is to recognize the inherent limitation of all rotary tools.

They are high-speed, low-torque tools. The work is done in the same way that a dentist's drill works: Very light pressure lets the bit in effect shave away the material. As the manual says, you need to adjust the tool so the bit is very close to the workpiece, then slowly lower the bit into it.

This means you can't use the Dremel drill press the same way you would use a full-size drill press, where you can bear down on the lever and force the bit to dig into the work. If you try to use it that way, you'll get the "slop" that some other reviewers mention.

When it's used correctly-- and the manual makes it very clear how to do so-- this is a very good accessory to have. Dremel 220-01 Rotary Tool Work Station

This press is great for all those little odd jobs. As a hobbyist, I use this item often. The slop others mentioned in other reviews can easily be removed by adjusting the 4 set screws to snug things up and tightening the other nuts and bolts in the assembly. Any press will flex if its forced beyond its intended limits. When used as intended. This press does everything it claims and more. The fact it can be adjusted to work as a bench grinder only adds to it value. When combined with a cross-slide mini vise. It will also work as a mini bridgeport for light machining. I would have given it a 5 star rating. But because I had to take the whole thing apart and reassemble it the way it should have been done at the factory. I gave it a 4. All in all, its still a great addition for anyone that owns a Dremel.

Dremels' work station for their rotary tool is a great little station. You are able to bolt it onto your workbench if you prefer. Some folks don't think you need to but I like to work with different jigs and such and need a very stable base, so I bolt mine. And along that line of thinking is the fact that you can tilt the tool anywhere from 15° to 90° which will help you when you want to turn it into a sanding and polishing tool for more intricate work.

It has a great little tool "caddy" which they like to call the "Crows nest" that you can store some of your more favorite bits. Or the way I use it is to place the bits and collets I'm going to use for whatever project that I'm working on at the time because I put all my bits and things up when done and cover the station to prevent dust build up.

The telescoping tool stand holds the tool when you are using the FlexShaft(tm). The base of the station has both metric and standard symbols as does the depth gauge.

All in all it's a great station for the rotary tool. But, the one little drawback that I've found in my working with it is that with other stations like this one, the others usually have a strap to clamp the upper portion of the tool securely to the tool stand. I find this helpful when drilling fine holes into decorative stones that I tumble and polish. Without that strap, using the the fine diamond drill bits will sometimes try to "travel" across the stone which will cause scratch marks. But, the great feel that the handle gives you allows me to prevent that by very delicately bringing the bit down to the stone in minute strokes until the bit has the hole started and then it's drilling as usual when using a fine diamond drill bit. That's why I give this station a 4 out of 5. Really I'd like to give it a 4½ stars but that's not one of the choices! Also the great deal I got buying this tool through Amazon.com beats all other sites and stores. So guys, show the wife the tool, what can be done with it and the low price, and you'll be getting yours in the mail soon!

This tool works quite well for me as a light duty drill press in my activities as a silversmith. While I rarely drill through any thing much heavier than 24 gage [B&S] sterling silver with a bit any larger than 1/16", it works fine if you don't "hog it" and allow the bit to do the work. I have also used a #61 bit with equal success while drilling starter holes for pierced work, usually within close quarters where accuracy is important. In either case, ONE DOES HAVE TO FEED SLOWLY in order to avoid deflection in the bit itself. I have occassionaly used it for light duty grinding [of stones] although that is the usual domain of my Foredom flexible shaft tool.

I have a Delta drill press for woodworking. Each machine fills its own niche and does a good job in their respective roles. Just don't confuse their roles. I would recommend the Dremel for its intended design purpose. It would work great in most any reasonable hobby use such as model aircraft and/or model railroad construction, both of which I have enjoyed.

And, I am a retired mechanical and structural engineer that is pretty picky about his tools.

I purchased the 220-01 Workstation planning to use it as a drill press. After taking it out of the box, and assembling it per the instructions, I realized that it is horribly flexible, making it impossible to drill holes with ANY accuracy. I'm not that picky either -- I know that a $50 drill press/attachment will have its limitations, but even with the 1/8th inch drill bit, attempting to make a hole is impossible.

Trying to make a hole yields a disfigured slot. The tool holder will flex in one direction when you push down, and flex in the other direction when you pull back up. You end up with a disfigued slot that is of no use. It ruined a piece I was trying to work on.

The dremel tool itself is held tight ... It's the flimsy plastic tool holder that seems to have a lot of slop internally.

To make matters worse, the clamp that will let you rotate the tool holder 90 degrees (to use the dremel as a stationary sander, etc.) never locks tight, so if you aren't careful, the tool holder itself can rotate counter-clockwise.

This "workstation" is a waste of money if you plan to use it as a drill press, or want any sort of accuracy at all. - Hobby - Tools - Crafts - Power Tool Accessories'

Great  price - shimano, baitcasting rods

The rod and reel combo works great, I have no complaints. The features of the reel work excellent.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the product came with zero directions for the features of the reel. I would have liked to not have to look up videos on how to use a baitcaster reel. It was my first baitcaster so I wasn't sure exactly how to use all the features, but all in all it works great! Kindle Screen Protectors - kindle accessory, screen protectors

The item title says '3 Pack'. I received only 1 pack and the shipping cost me more than the product.

The product package says on the 'Features':

1) Washable and Reusable - Not Ture. Once you wash it, it is useless.

2) Dust Repelling - not ture!

3) Finger print free - not true!

4) Bubble Free - Not true also.

It is cheaper and easier to buy a regular LCD screen protector and cut it to size.

This product is a rip off! (3 Packs) Clear LCD Screen Protector for Amazon Kindle 2 E-Book Reader

This screen protector is NOT glare resistant. When installed, it makes the screen much harder to read without holding the Kindle at a very specific angle. I had previously tried out a small screen protector made for my cell phone and it worked pretty well (Too bad it was too small.). I thought this product would work the same as my trial, but 'no joy'.

Additionally, I was not able to install it on my Kindle without bubbles between it and the Kindle screen. Perhaps this is a generic problem with all protectors installed on such a large surface, or I'm a Klutz!!

This product gives the Kindle screen protection from dirt and grime and is easy to see through.......doesn't obstruct at all. The problem I found was trying to get a small tag off on the bottom right side of the protector. It is glued with very adhesive glue and makes smearing and later stickiness a problem. It needs to be removed in order to see Kindle print in that section of the reader.

These are sold in packs of 3 for less than $2.

They are poorly-cut and difficult to line up to the sides of the Kindle screen (the screen features rounded corners, these protectors have three 90-degree corners and a beveled one. I have no idea why...)

They are cheap. And they do your Kindle the courtesy of looking cheap, too!

Save your money.

After many frustrating tries we could not remove all of the bubbles. Unfortunately, the description of the product was misleading. I ordered a three-pack but received a one-pack. What's with this deception?? I agree that the shipping cost was more than the product. Would not order this again.

I found the product easy to install, but the glare from the surface was too distracting for my reading comfort.

It was like reading through a window.

The Kindle screen was much more user-friendly by itself.

I would go for a non-glare product in the future.

Not recommended. - Kindle Accessory - Kindle Screen Protector - Screen Protector - Screen Protectors'

Headphones - ipod, sport headphones

I was looking for a good pair of headphones to replace the ones that came with my portable (the kind that just barely cover the ear and then not very well--you know what I mean) when I came across these. I was a little skeptical because of the price (I was under the misconception that good headgear has to cost a bundle). Boy, was I surprised. The first time I put them on (riding on the commuter train) I was amazed at the sound quality. They beat the ones I had 100% in total sound reaching the ear canal. This helped block out the extraneous sounds of engine and multiple conversations. Plus, the bass was solid as well. As an added bonus, they are incredibly light and are plastic so the headband doesn't scratch your head (something that has irked me with other headsets). With this level quality, and for this price, you just can't go wrong. Sony Ultra Lightweight MDR-W08L Vertical In-The-Ear Headphones

I bought these for my Sony mini-disc player, and they are quite the powerhouse! The sound that comes out of these little guys is amazing. These little phones are a tad awkaward (FOR ME),though, because I always snag the wires on something, but it's my fault. I am never too careful with wires. Speaking of wires, the cable has a volume slide-control whuich is very convenient for when you don'r feel like pulling the player out of your pocket to turn up the volume. That is, when not using the remote.Sony always makes good products, and like always, I am pleased with my purchase. With good compactability, I can pack these guys in my backpack, and because they are so flexible, they still retain their shape and excellent sound and performance standards.Let's talk about bass. The bass expansion is great and because of the volume control slider, you don't have to go deaf because you forgot to turn down the volume (on your player) prior to using it.Not only ismodel MDR08L great for MD players/recorders, but it's also great for cassette and Discman's too! Especially when you don't want a heavy, cumbersome headset weighing you down while on the go. And, the plain black color goes well with any of the portable players today. So, for the price and the brand, get this headset or something similar by Sony today.Hope the review helped you.

Either I am insane or none of you are qualified to review this product. Personally, I've owned six pairs of these and use them for hours on end each week. I wear them on 3-hour runs and I wear them in the computer lab here at school, so I think I know what I am talking about. Firstly, the product design for these headphones is the best I've ever seen. These headphones weigh nothing. That is the reason these headphones are so great. I've looked at other similar products by Sony (they make a model that look similar but are yellow) and by Aiwa and Koss and none of them are as good as these. They're either a folding design, which is a definite no-no, or slightly bulkier and less comfortable. The sound is good. These would be the coolest, sleekest, lightest, most affordable headphones ever, except for one small problem. They don't work! That's right, after moderate use, the sound invariably goes out in one ear. This has happened in six of six pairs of these I've owned. One pair I had lasted for a year. Another was broken THE SECOND I TOOK IT OUT OF THE BOX. The Mean Time Between Failure for the six pairs I've owned is probably at or around 3 months. So, to sum up: These headphones are awesome. I'd gladly pay 30 bucks for a single pair that worked for year. Instead I pay 30 bucks for 3 pairs that, together, work for a year. I'd write Sony and alert them to the problem, but frankly for an eight dollar pair of headphones, I don't expect much. My advice is to buy six or seven pairs just to keep from running back and forth to the store. Hopefully they'll work out the quality issues on this one and jack up the price.

As a runner, I need lightweight headphones that don't jump/move/jar around. I hate ear buds (hate them!) as they are seemingly designed for people w/LARGE ear holes! These things are tiny, fit nicely IN your ear and provide great sound without annoying you on a long run! The price is fabulous too! Last time I ordered, I bought 4 pairs (whenever I like something it seems to be discontinued) and I just broke into pair #2 this week (after almost a year w/the others). I've run in these for 3 half marathons and countless training runs, inside and out. If I wouldn't wad them up and throw them in my gym bag, they'd probably last even longer, but eventually one side tends to give out.

Way too cheap for what they are. I didn't fully realize this until I got a player with a lot of equalization choices. Then I discovered that the changes didn't make much difference in the way the music sounded in all the various earphones I had around the house (because they didn't have enough frequency response to manipulate), except these. Everyone I've shown them to has loved them. The comfort issue someone else mentioned is real--it takes a while to build up the calluses to use them for really long periods of time, and you can't use them lying on your side. But it's worth it. - Ipod - Earphones - Running - Sport Headphones'

Hd Dvd - hdmi cable, hdmi to dvi

This is a great connector, but there was an unforeseen problem with my intended use for it. Hopefully I can save someone the trouble. I planned to connect a DVD upconverter (HDMI) to a computer monitor (DVI). Like I said, the connector is fine, I got everything hooked up, and when I turned it on a picture flickered on the screen and then it went blank. Turns out after reading through the manuals that the DVD player requires the monitor to be HDCP compliant. So it works, but since it's afraid I might be using it to make illegal copies of something it shuts off my picture immediately. I'm really rather frustrated that once again a DRM scheme has made something less convenient for a legitimate customer. So it's back to my 19" TV from 1995 until I can save up enough for a brand new monitor/TV with HDCP. Isn't progress great? I'm sure I'll find some other use for this nice adapter. New Gold Plated HDMI Female to DVI-D Male Video Adaptor

Works as described. If you have problems with your HDMI connection (TV) being recognized by your video card just uninstall the video card driver through Device Manager (My Computer - System Information - Hardware) then reboot computer. Turn off computer. Plug in monitor(s) you want to use with video card, turn on computer and reinstall driver for video card, reboot computer again.

I have a dual monitor Nvidia 6200 (1 VGA and 1 DVI). I now have a vga port for my 20" LCD computer monitor and the card recognized my HDMI connected LG 42" flat panel on my DVI port.

Very cool! Very good product and you can't beat the price.

i just plugged this into my HP p6774y DVI input and it worked with my HDMI LCD immediately..in fact I got an added bonus as I quickly learned that my PC supports dual monitor. Picture looks great so far, hope it lasts a long time.

i was given a hdlcd tv as a gift but it takes dvi-m plug this did the job of adapting so i could use hdmi cable too bad the old hd tvsdidn't run audio through the same input.takes lots of preshure to get screws in they needed to trim a little rubber off the post guides so it secures beter otherwise its great adaptor. HDMI cables stay in nicely.

I was really impressed with how nice and high quality this item appears to be when I received it, the pic doesn't do it justice, it didn't feel cheap as I expected for the price I paid. Much nicer than the ones I got from fry's. It works great. Everything fit snug and video quality appears great. I also got the hdmi cable with this connector and it's just as great.

THIS ADAPTER IS MUCH BETTER THAN THE DVI TO HDMI CABLE BECAUSE YOU CAN USE THE ADAPTER AND THEN USE WHICHEVER HDMI CABLE YOU LIKE/THINK IS THE BEST. IS USE THIS WITH THE CABLE MENTIONED BELOW TO HOOK MY COMPUTER UP TO MY 40" SONY BRAVIA HDTV, WHICH I USE AS MY MONITOR, AND BAM! I GET 1080p PICTURE RESOLUTION, WHAT MORE COULD I ASK FOR? (1440p!LOL)IT IS A VERY CHEAP ADAPTER(NOT THE ADAPTER QUALITY BUT THE PRICE IS CHEAP)SO THATS A PLUS. I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU USE THIS WITH THE NEW MEDIABRIDGE ULTRA 1.4 HDMI ON AMAZON FOR 9.99. THE CABLE WORKS GREAT, ITS "FUTURE PROOF", AND IT HAS A NICE LOOK TO IT. CHECK OUT MY PROFILE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BUYING ANY HOME THEATER OR SURROUND SOUND EQUIPMENT, MY PRICE IS LOWER THAN AMAZONS AND I SHIP FREE. - Dvi - 1080p - Hdmi Cable - Hdmi To Dvi'

Neck Pain - fitness, back pain relief

After reading about the benefits of inversion tables and doing some research, the 9250 along with a couple of other tables met our criteria: Inexpensive, folds for storage, wrap around handles, sufficient height adjustment. Opted for this one because the breathable mesh back area with a removeable head pillow looked most comfortable. Good choice! It is as it molds to the body more than a padded backrest. Assembly of the table took about an hour using ratchets instead of the included wrenches. The instructions and pictures are clear with each part numbered. The unit we received had a part lacking a crucial bolt hole (table was usable without that part installed). Contacted the manufacturer on Monday and had a replacement part here on Thursday. That's good customer service. After almost a week of using the Elite 9250 table, can report that it's effective. As soon as I invert, feel my spine aligning and there's a full body stretch. Lower back soreness has decreased to almost nothing already after a week of using it for a few minutes a couple of times a day. Good value for the money and good investment in "me". Elite Fitness Inversion Table

If you're looking on here, you don't need to hear about how great inversion tables are.

This one is not super easy to put together, but not very difficult either (took me a about an hour). The ankle clamps/pads are not easy to adjust but it is doable with a little force... WD-40 might help, haven't tried it yet. I just keep the ankle pads in the same position and slide my feet in the side.

Very comfortable for a machine that hangs you upside down by your ankles. The head rest is nice and the handles are convenient.

This inversion table works fine for the price. It's not a fancy table with infinitely adjustable angles (there are 3 different levels from about 10 degrees from horizontal to about 60 degrees), but it works well at what it does. The upper end of the table would be better if it extended a little further--I'm about 5'11", and the cushion pushes my shoulders out of alignment, but if I take off the cushion, the metal bar in the frame is uncomfortable on my head. It's not a game stopper for me, but it could be better.

This is a great inversion table for the price. It is well built, easy to assemble, safe to operate and great quality for the price. I like it so much that I bought a second one for my winter home. My neighbor used mine twice and bought her own.

I've never used an inversion table before, and I'm getting great results with this one. It was simple to put together (comes with wrenches, which I did use but it would have been MUCH easier if I'd just bought myself a ratchet wrench). It also comes with this safety bar, so there's 3 different levels of inversion to help you get used to it. Very comfortable and secure-feeling. Only thing is, it glides backwards easily when I put my arms over my head. But when I'm ready to come back up and put my arms at my sides, it doesn't flip back over. I have to use the safety handles to pull myself back up. This isn't a big deal to me; I'm not about to rate it down for that, and in all reality I probably just need to play with the height/weight settings. This is a safe, excellent little table and I wish I'd bought it years ago.

Been struggling with back pain for a while but this year has been above and beyond a struggle to get anything done through my pain. Been to the chiropractor alot lately and still wasn't helping so I decided to give this inversion table a try.

When I got it in the mail it had been shipped in its original packaging and the tape was ready to break on one side. But over all it shipped well and very quickly.

Had to wait for my husband to come home to put it together. I was hoping it would just come out of the box and kinda fold into place but it had a few parts that needed put together. It is well made and is made out of a heavy sturdy coated metal. All parts were included and he had it together within a hour or so.

My first inversion was a bit scarier than expected. It took me a couple of times to make it to the first and second level. It does have three different inversion levels. I have even inverted to the highest level now without freaking out. I think it was just the initial not knowing exactly what to expect.

Again the product is made well for its price. Its heavy made and mechanically works well. I haven't really had to much of a problem releasing the foot holder like others have complained about. But with it being heavy.. it is pretty heavy to move around. when you already have back pain it is much easier to leave it sit or you just might hurt your self more trying to move it back to a space big enough to use it. The mesh backing is also nice and works well It pretty comfortable. The pillow I am not sure about. But if you are ok with your neck laying at the angle that the pillow puts it you should be fine.

My back has been stiff still though. I was hoping for a miracle from this product. Hoping it would take most of my pain away or at least make me more mobile and easier to get everyday things accomplished. But it hasn't. My ankle and knee were both sore when I started using the inversion table and they still are so I haven't been able to hang past the first setting for more then 8 to 10 minutes at a time. I think it would work better if I could use the better angles. So if you are experiencing knee or ankle pain it is really hard to use. Almost all the pressure of hanging is felt in your ankles. The longer you hang you start to feel it in your knees. The first level also has a bar in the middle of your back so that is kind of annoying. The bar in the center of my back is one reason it got a 4 star rating and not a five.

I have noticed neck stuffiness since I started using it as well. Not sure why.... but My shoulders and neck are not liking it. It also tells you to lay with your arms above your head which would be a comfortable move if the top of the table was angled differently or gave you a place to lay your arms to rest.

Ok so this review is a little bit of everywhere but I hope it helps some one. It is made well. But isn't helping as much as I would have hoped for. - Good Value - Back Pain Relief - Inversion Equipment - Fitness'

Mapping Software - navigation, maps

I purchased the 2009 maps & streets w/gps & the gps would not work. I called Microsoft & was told they would send me a newer gps that will work with windows 7. The gps unit works fine with my old 2005 version of maps & streets. Microsoft ZV3-00019 Microsoft Streets and Trips 2009 GPS Mini

First, a comment on Tom's review that his receiver did not work with W7: mine works great on my little Toshiba netbook running Windows 7 Basic. It worked before i upgraded memory to 2GB, but a bit slow. it works flawlessly on 2GB. i also tried it with (a trial version of) Streets and Trips 2010, didn't see any problem. actually i believe 2010 version uses the same receiver. So it seems Tom simply got a defective one.

As for the future version of the software, i don't see any reason why the receiver would not work. gps receivers are standardized these days.

Let's go back to the product itself. i saw some negative comments about the receiver's reception. i used in a Jeep Liberty in mountains (if it matters). i brought a long extension usb cable with me just in case i would need to hand it on the rear view mirror. it turned out to be unnecessary. i got good reception throughout the trip in the mountains in Zion, Glen and Grand Canyon National Parks.

One good thing i like it especially is that it shows the elevation. you would really appreciate it when you travel in mountains. i think only very expensive car gps's do that.

I should admit that i also have a car gps in the vehicle mostly for urban areas. i bought the software for travels on foot, like when i fly to another city for a meeting, and to Europe (there is a Europe version of the software). i don't have a 4G mobile phone and don't want to pay the monthly data fee. i will always have my netbook with me, and feel this is the best solution. It would work well as a car gps if you can somehow put it on your dashboard (i can't do it on my dashboard), or perfectly well if you have a navigator sitting in the passenger seat. if i drive by myself or in urban areas, i would like to use a car gps, directly in front of me.

it saved us once when our car gps led us to a wrong entrance of the Glen Ntl Park, which is for people who have their own boat. with the quick zooming ability and larger screen (than the 4.3" gps), we quickly found what was wrong and got back to the main entrance. it turned out our Tomtom has quite a few places all marked as Glen Park, and it's really hard to tell on that screen whether it is right. The problem is Tomtom doesn't show all the entrances together. it somehow has a distance limit. i asked for "Glen National Park", it showed me only the closest entrance. with effort, it would show more, but they are all labeled the same. i should have done more homework before hitting the road, and the homework would be on my computer, using Google maps if i have wi-fi connection, otherwise, it means this product. That is the reason i bought it before the trip.

i deduct one star because i don't like the interface too much. well, that's typical Microsoft! always gets things more complicated that they are. in this aspect, i like Google better.

Overall, the quality of the maps in this version (2009) is fairly good.

I bought this version to get the GPS dongle, for a trip across Mexico. The Mexican maps and turn-by-turn directions are unexpectedly good. (There are several "use local road for..." instructions, but when one arrives there, it's self-evident.)

The problem with this application is that the lawyers had the last vote in the interface. Because of the prompts and "I Agree...." screens this application is truly dangerous to use in the car. For example, when the laptop goes to sleep, simply waking it up will not resume the application. One must "fiddle" with the controls to re-awaken the GPS function. So one must pull over, fiddle, wait and resume travel.

It's not a bad program, and I got it for very little money, so I suppose the lesson here is one gets what one pays for.

If I had to do it over, I'd go with a Garmin (for the Mexican maps) and be done with it. For travel / route planning, this application is decent. For enroute travel, not so much....

I love this program. I use it to plan my trips to So. Calif. for snowbirding

and all the stops along the way. The price was great. I wanted to put it on

my desktop and my laptop. The 2010 version evidently does not allow you to do

that.

I purchased this product after the most recent 2010 version was out to save a buck. I was very pleased but almost didn't bother with a review since it is unlikely that stock will be available for others to purchase.

The newer GPS devices are very good and any PC or tablet is going to be less convenient in a car. Certainly, it would be reasonable to use a GPS for travel and an online service for larger desktop views. Streets and Trips does not depend on an internet connection (after installation), which can be an advantage. Planning features are at least comparable to the best on the net. I've used it when either I or my GPS or both are confused on the road. The large screen view makes it more likely that you can quickly regain a feel for the area or overall sanity.

I have copies of Microsoft Streets and Trips 2000, 2001, 2006 and 2009 for the US and Autoroute 2007 for Europe and the UK . The 2001 version seems to the most complete as far as versatility is concerned but the later versions receive updates from time to time on listings of lodgings, etc. and also receive updates from time on road conditions. The 2000 version required loading the CD each time you use it, but the later versions do not require the CD once you have initially loaded it. I have found them to be very valuable tooks both for finding local addresses as well as planning cross-country vacation trips. The only glitch I have found is trying to use Rest Areas as way points in planning trips. (We try to average at most 100 miles or two hours between Rest Stops on our trips and Rest Areas have been most convenient.) Only the 2001 version lists these by Interstate Highway and Mile Marker, but if you schedule a particular Rest Area, instead of remaining on the route as you would, it routes you around by back roads and adds mileage and time to your travel estimates. I have found a way to get around this by using the nearest interchange as a reference point for the Rest Area. On the 2001 version you can tailor your actual travel speed habits more closely than the other versions . The GPS receiver I received with my 2009 version can also be used with the 2006 version and also with Autoroute 2007, which I have found very useful in planning trips in the UK. There are probably flaws in any of the versions for the nit picker, but overall, it's another of those things that you "Don't leave home without it." :-) - Gps - Navigation - Cartography - Maps'
