Hands On Math Activities - real world, math education

I like this book and highly recommend anything by the Muschla's. But this is a book of worksheets, not games. It does contain entertaining and challenging worksheets that are useful in the classroom. I more often will use their Algebra Teacher's Activity Kit or the Geometry Teacher's Activity Kit. Math Games: 180 Reproducible Activities to Motivate, Excite, and Challenge Students, Grades 6-12

While the title is misleading, I found this book a good way to get additional practice in my middle school math classes. The worksheets offer some "puzzle" type problems and "real world" word problems. Students like the worksheets and the format of them doesn't make it feel like everything is on top of each other like worksheets often do.

A good supplement to any classroom

As previous reviewers have noted, this is a book of worksheets, not games. Those hoping for math games should look elsewhere, such as Family Math : The Middle School Years, Algebraic Reasoning and Number Sense. That being said, this is a good book to use for extra practice and/or review of skills. It is well organized, so it is easy to find a worksheet on, for instance, the order of operations. I use it frequently in my tutoring of jr. high and high school students, a group for which it is often difficult to find materials. - Middle School - Hands On Math Activities - Math Education - Real World'

Dana Buchman

I am a special education teacher in New York City and I want to clear a few things up.

1. LD is NOT mild mental retardation, as another reviewer suggested. IQ is unrelated to specific learning issues. I have worked with students who tested in the gifted range, thus making their specific learning issues that much more obvious. Classifying a child as "cognitively impaired" implies that the child is performing up to capacity, and that the child's capacity is significantly reduced. That is not the case with an LD student. The definition of LD is that the child is unable to perform up to his or her capacity in an academic subject or subjects without appropriate remediation and accommodation.

From www.ldonline.com, an excellent resource:

THE IDEA DEFINITION

Since "learning disability" is an umbrella term, it seems most appropriate to use a broad and inclusive definition. The basic definition in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is set forth below:

(A) IN GENERAL- The term "specific learning disability" means a disorder in one or more of the basic psychological processes involved in understanding or using language, spoken or written, which disorder may manifest itself in imperfect ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell, or do mathematical calculations.

(B) DISORDERS INCLUDED- Such term includes such conditions as perceptual disabilities, brain injury, minimal brain dysfunction, dyslexia, and developmental aphasia.

(C) DISORDERS NOT INCLUDED- Such term does not include a learning problem that is primarily the result of visual, hearing, or motor disabilities, of mental retardation, of emotional disturbance, or of environmental, cultural, or economic disadvantage.

So for the reviewers who diagnosed Ms. Buchman's daughter as mentally retarded, it would seem that the law is not on your side. Nor is science. I recommend visiting LDonline and educating yourself about learning disabilities.

2. A number of people expressed what sounded quite like resentment that the author was able to get her daughter special appointments, treatments, and schooling, as though she was somehow unusual or special. Why should we accept that children live in situations where help is not available, where you need finanical resources in order to get evaluations and services? Instead of being angry at the author, why not do something about it?

3. Special education schools differ in their method of funding. Most children receive a free education provided by funds from the government, which are given to the school that can educate them most appropriately. While there are parents who choose to go outside of this system and pay privately, the fact is that children do not need to be rich to get into schools. At my first job, it cost $30,000 per child to provide adequate staff and resources, yet we serviced homeless and poor families. And this is as it should be. In the end, it would cost more to put children into institutions and group homes and hospitals and jails than to just do the right thing in the first place. Not to mention the loss of human potential and taxpayer money that would result from denying kids the education they needed. A Special Education: One Family's Journey Through the Maze of Learning Disabilities

As the parent of a child with a disability, I wanted to like this book more than I did. I appreciate Ms. Buchman's candor about all the events in her life and am glad that it has helped some parents. However, I could not relate to most of what she wrote.

Most parents of kids with disabilities don't have the extreme resources that she has, including live in nannies, access to training programs across the country, expensive private schools, whatever specialists, psychologists, etc America can offer and more. Plus if you're more in tune with your kids, more engaged with them and not emotionally closed off, you might find little in common with a lot of her personal struggles with her kids and husband. I was glad to read that she worked on those issues, but again, I could not relate.

Perhaps it has just come easier to me to not bottle in my feelings about my son's disability at least in front of my own family, and I have always felt strongly about being open and honest in a caring way with my other children, not being an emotionally distant family with pink elephants in the room.

I also have always been a type A overachiever, and yes it has been with some pain that I had to shelve the supermom within me to instead slow down and focus on my special needs family, but I just couldn't relate to her behavior. I also think, like another reviewer wrote, that the things she wrote don't make sense - the crazy hours she and her husband both work, plus constant travelling for work, just does not jive with all the "family time" and long weekend mornings and weeknight dinners she claims to have with her kids. The rosy colored glasses I think she's viewing her kids' childhood with may lead some readers to feel guilty unfairly. Some people may like this book, but I am glad I got it from the library instead of buying it.

I too have a child with LD two years younger than Charlotte. I know the heartbreak of LD and I cried because I experienced the same things Ms. Buchman experienced as a mother raising a beloved child with LD. I also, like Ms. Buchman have another child who is gifted and does not have LD. I know that having a child with LD,dyslexia,ADD,etc. changes your life forever. Parents with LD children will want to read this book and then give it to the many teachers that are not trained to understand what LD does to children and their families.Give this to gandparents, neighbors and close friends. People don't understand that LD children may look like everyone else but they have disabilities that are very real and painful to them and to the family as a whole. These disabilities can be in all academic areas as well as speech, sports, and social. Do not let the fact that Ms. Buchman is a designer keep you from reading this book if you have a young child with LD. Her feelings, emotions, marriage, etc. pretty much follows the same path of any parent in this situation. You will find common ground with a parent who is being honest about dealing with LD. I appreciated her honesty. I just wish this book would have been written years ago when my child was diagnoised. I believe she has opened some doors to understanding the LD child and their family and her book will bring the subject out into the light.'

Electric Air Pump - electric air pump, air mattress pump

Let's keep this short and to the point.

Pros:

- High air volume - inflated a 4 person (104", 3 air chambers) towable in about 5 minutes, with about 90 seconds of that attributed to moving from one air chamber to the next.

- Long cord - reached from the battery compartment over the back seat to the swim platform without an issue

Cons:

- A bit noisy - comparable to an electric drill (110 VAC plug-in style). Since the pump was not on for long, I didn't think it warranted subtracting a star.

- Gets warm fairly quickly - Again, not an issue since the pump does its job in a hurry. Kwik Tek Airhead High Pressure Air Pump (12-Volt)

Of all of the pumps out there, this is probably the best 12-volt of them all. I have two inflatable kayaks, one in California & one in Maui. I have one of these pumps in both locations. The other 12-volt pumps that are out there, plug into a cigarette lighter outlet and use a thin wire to conect the 12-volt power to the pump. That makes for insufficient voltage to completely inflate the kayak. As a result, you end up having to also have a hand-pump to top off the inflation. This pump connects directly to your 12-volt battery. As a result, it has the necessary voltage to completely inflate the boat, without the need for another hand-pump to top off the process.

This pump is strong enough to quickly blow up large towable toys. The only downside is that you have to connect this unit directly to the battery terminals rather than connecting it to a 12 volt outlet. Of course this is by specific design and allows for a higher volume of air.

The unit is loud, but because it is fast it won't be on long. If you have a large inflatible towable then this unit is for you otherwise you may want a quieter, slower 12v cigarette outlet model.

2010 UPDATE: We've had this Kwik Tek unit for two boating seasons now and it has proved quite durable. We blow up a large three man towable and the huge MantaRay with Wings towable (no longer on the market). The Kwik Tek is both fast and durable.

Like us, you should be prepared to loan out your Kwik Tek high pressure pump to other boaters while you're on the water.

I purchased this pump for inflating my kayaks (that needed 2 psi of pressure).

The pump is well-built and looks sturdy. It makes a lot of noise when in use, and it also gets hot quite fast (I am really curious if it will prove to be reliable).

I measured the pressure built up by the pump with a precision manometer: with car engine off it makes around 1.8psi, with car engine on (higher voltage), it is about 2.0psi. Anyway, this is not the claimed 2.5psi.

But in the end I can achieve the pressure I need for inflating my kayaks in a short time with it so I am overall happy.

I've tried many types of air pumps and nothing comes close to this one, it inflates my 4 person raft in under 2 minutes. It's great because it hooks up to the trolling motor's battery for inflation and then it can be stored on the raft taking up little room. I highly recommend this product.

This is a follow up after about one full season of moderate use. Two weeks ago the pump started giving off a rattling noise and the performance visibly reduced. The initial thought was that one of the bearings needed lubrication but the problem turned out to be more serious. The gear assembly is made out of plastic and over time tension on the belt allowed some slippage which caused friction and melted all the teeth completely off. The pump is now useless unless I can find replacement gears (for the record the pump was never on for more than 4 - 5 min. at a time).

For the price I paid it is not a major loss, but my initial expectation was at least 2 - 3 seasons of work. If I don't find another manufacturer with better quality product I will probably reorder the same unit since I have gotten used to the speed and pressure this pump delivers.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Original review:

The pump is litte yet powerful. Inflates devices without need to manually top off. Small size is a plus in terms of portability. Inflation rate and pressure both worked to my satisfaction. Cables are long enough and reach the car battery with plenty of slack. Inflation hose seems sturdy enough.

The only negative things found were the pupm tipping over from its stand while in process and the pvc clamp handle covers sliding off a little.

In short great and affordable little pump. Recommend.

I really like this pump. It's powerfull and comes with many fittings conveniently tied to the end of the hose for quick use. It made quick work of our big floaties with large air ports and blew them up nice and firm. Also did a good job of pulling air back out of them for storage. My only complaint is that it is quite loud. Also, I wouldn't try to do a large floatie that's only got a port for the needle fitting (see photo). It'll do it, but it will take quite a while. Best to do those by mouth. This is a real quality pump for better quality floaties with high-volume ports. Worth the extra $10-$15 over the cheaper pumps.

The kwik tek airhead pump works great has a few assorted inflation adapters to work with low pressure high volume inflatable water toys and has an adapter that keeps you from overfilling the chambers. Unit is really quick and powerful the components such as battery clips look like they will last a couple of seasons with no problem, it will not work with cigarette lighter adapter due to its amperage draw and must be connected directly to the battery I knew this going in so not a concern rather its a good indication of its potential power . The size is roughly 8x8x8 inches so small enough to keep tucked away in the boat without much problem. - Air Mattress Pump - Electric Air Pump - Airhead'

Dewalt Angle Grinder - grinder, angle grinders

I purchased this grinder with the Dewalt DW4945 4 and a 1/2 inch rubber backing pad and DW4525 35grit sanding discs. I used this setup to sand some house facing down to the wood because the paint was peeling. Scraping and orbital sanding were taking hours per square foot, but this setup moves right along. There is some danger to gouging especially when the disc is in the first 10 minutes. Possibly a larger diameter would be safer but I don't know. On the other hand the small size lets you zero in on stubborn spots. 50 grit might work better. I can't see any courser working well.

The bearings/gear system don't sound smooth like a router but at speed the vibration is no trouble. There are higher priced models; don't know exactly the benefit but they do have a different trigger system. This one has one lever high and in front which you can lock and then shut off with the thumb on the hand holding the grinder while your other hand is say on a ladder or something. Not bad. DEWALT D28110 4-1/2-Inch Small Angle Grinder

This is the best value I've found in a grinder. I've had mine for nearly a year. I've used it to sand, grind high spots in concrete, cut steel bolts, scrub other tools, cut graphite golf shafts, and destroy bad hard drives for my computer. The most extreme use was running it one day for 6 hours of continuous use on a big sanding job. I've abused this thing in ways that it is not designed for and it still won't quit.

Pluses: strong, versatile, easy to change attachments, good switch locks on, handle attaches to either side

Minuses: On the noisy side... not such a big deal when you using a grinder. This model has only the side lock on switch rather than a dead-man switch.

I use it more than I thought I would. Knowing what I know now I'd probably buy the 10 Amp model that comes with the case and deadman switch. Four and a half stars rounded up to five, because of performance and durability.

It's small, light weight, compared to professional use grinders, while delivering lots of power and lots of wheels and brushes available for various uses, including heavy duty diamond wheels. I found it very easy to use and control. The average home user will not likely find this unit lacking.

The grinder is tool-less, if you use their rubber backer DeWalt DW4945 4-1/2-Inch Rubber Backing Pad with Locking Nut for fiber discs and sanding disks or if you use their grinding and cutting wheels that have an integral nut, like this oneDEWALT DW4522 High Performance 1/8-Inch Metal Cutting and Grinding Wheel that has the 5/8 - 11 arbor. In both cases, the wheels can be installed and used with hand/finger tightening.

As far as I can tell, this grinder will accept every 4 1/2 grinding accessory wheel that is available. Many (most?)of them are marked with a 7/8 arbor, which will work fine. Just make sure that you install the 7/8 arbor wheel so that it is centered on the backer, which has a little lip at the 7/8 mark. Then install the locking nut, which also has a 7/8 lip to use on their 1/4 inch thick disc.

To use a rubber backer for sanding discs, polishing wheels, fiber discs, you have to remove the backing nut. It is retained by a rubber O ring and is easy to remove. The instructions are in the manual, but are easy to miss. There are no spanner wrench holes in the locking nut of the Dewalt rubber backer. That means you have to use finger pressure to tighten/remove it. There are other rubber backers that do have spanner holes in their locking nuts, like the Bosch MG0450 4-1/2-Inch Sander Backing Pad with Lock Nut which I think are easier to use. You'd probably need another spanner wrench for the 3rd party backers. I use this one, Adjustable Pin Wrench because it's cheap but works just fine.

You can also remove the guard, if needed to get at certain jobs. If you do, just remember that the on switch is locked on, so if you drop the tool, it could be chasing you around the room.

My only complaints are minor. I wish that there were a threaded socket on top of the grinder for the handle, in addition to the 2 on the sides. The arbor lock button is in a rather awkward place for me.

This grinder seems like a great value and I'm very pleased to have one.

I have owned several (other makes) of grinders. All have functioned for awhile but failed under heavy duty. I needed to get a replacement so I selected the Dewalt D28110. I almost didn't buy it because it seemed too inexpensive compared to others & I was concerned it would fail me early. I am glad I did buy this Dewalt grinder as it has worked perfectly so far and seems to be destined to work for many years.

It is well constructed and I would agree with Dewalt's claim that it is "Heavy Duty".

It satisfies all my needs for a 4 1/2 inch grinder with ease.

Rob

This is a great budget grinder. I used it with a diamond wheel to cut out grout on about 40 sf of floor tile. Put it through the wringer at load with lots of dust for a few hours and had no trouble. I've cut several other large pieces of metal, pipes, etc. Works like a charm. Bearings are a bit noisy but it doesn't seem to cause a problem.

I do NOT think this is "wrench free" as DeWalt claims. It includes a wrench and the instructions do not explain how to remove the wheel without a wrench. I don't think it can be done. (Please post and tell me how if it can!) My other complaint is that the instructions are terrible, like all DeWalt instructions. It's so confusing to try to figure out what applies to this model and what does not, what is the right type of wheel, when a separate guard not included might be needed, etc.

The grinding wheel that comes with it has a 7/8" arbor hole, but the grinder arbor is 5/8." There is a backing plate with a raised portion to enable acceptance of 7/8" wheels. However, THREADED 7/8" accessories won't work. I bought mine for wood carving with a Lancelot, which has a 5/8" arbor hole, which is very thick, and which required me to pull off the backing plate. Said plate is hard to remove (very tight fit; requires pliers) and first-time users might not even know that it is removable.

I'll write more later; just thought I should get this on the record in case someone needs to know, as it's not explained well in the manual. I've only had this thing a short time; so far, so good. No reason not to give it 5 stars if it pans out.

PS. I published the identical review for the reconditioned model, which is the one I bought, but everything I had to say about that applies to, and is useful for, this one. - Grinder - Carving - Angle Grinders - Light Weight Grinder'

High Gain Antenna - extra, wireless antenna

I got rid of my puny original router antennas and replaced them with these macho ones! They work! I have Internets! I tested the signal all around my house and walked out with my laptop across the street and the signal was still broadcasting strong--so I figure it has a broadcast radius of approximately an acre now--maybe even more. (I figured the woods across the street from my house was a good border at which to stop testing) Wireless Routers Extend Range Antenna For Linksys DLink

I thought that I could just screw this onto the back of Linksys wireless router(replacing the antenna).

This antenna has some sort of base(and it can't be removed from it, like it can't be unscrewed). . .i think it's for a wireless card, not a router.

I repeat! This is NOT the item in the picture.

I was interested in boosting the signal to one of my PCs at home. I have a Linksys wireless ethernet card and the signal was 4 bars. The boss was complaining the signal was "too weak" for her shopping (aka- too slow upon checking out). So, I was in search of an upgraded wireless card but stumbled upon people simply upgrading their antennas instead. I found this one and thought I would give it a try. Very inexpensive way to boost a signal.

I received the single antenna about 3 days later. The company I purchased from thru Amazon, Jacobs Parts was very prompt and I received an email the same day that the item had shipped. Here we are today, I received the antenna and installed it within 3 minutes. When I removed the previous antenna from the wireless card, I noticed that the length of the original antenna was a couple of inches taller than the one I received today. I had some hesitation about switching them out, but decided to give it a try anyway. Once the old antenna was removed the signal on my PC dropped immediately. After replacing it with the new antenna, I had to go into the network settings and click on 'trouble shoot' the wireless adapter (Win 7 32-bit Ultimate). Windows found the card with the new antenna and within 1 minute it found the signal. The PC immediately had full bars and upon doing a speed test, I noticed an uninterrupted download / upload test. The PC seem to go thru pages faster. I believe this product works really well for the price...very effective! My next test is to purchase 3 of these antennas for my D-link router. I'm curious now to see my router signal / range will be improved / expanded with the use of these antennas...I will report once I make the purchase and install...Good Luck!!

This was perfect for our needs, setup was easy, and delivery was super fast. Just took it out of the mailing envelope it had shipped in, and screwed it in. It's as simple as that. It had my wireless card up and working again from across the house. Our old antenna had been broken for awhile and I finally got around to ordering a new one.

Despite the product's name, I bought it to replace a broken rubber duckie for a computer's wireless PCI card. At the price, figured I could afford to be wrong about whether it would fit the socket or work properly. Lucky me! It fit fine and works well with my N-band router. Note that it's pretty big and fat, longer and fatter than the one it replaced or the antennas on my router.

I had to find an antenna by itself to replace the one on a wireless card for a desktop PC that I had broken. This was exactly what I needed and once screwed into the back of the card I had my signal again. I can't comment on the range really because the computer is directly above the router which is in the basement, it holds a constant signal.

these things pick up a signal when they feel like it. i would have to play with them and the wireless router was in the next room. grew tired of the bull so i went and bought a wireless-n 300 netgear and its working sooo much better with no flaws and its easier to put in. - Wireless Antenna - Antenna - Extra - High Gain Antenna'

Soccer Coaching - soccer

The board and magnets provide a practical way to visualize formations to my soccer team for pre-game and half time adjustments. I wanted to go with a small clipboard versus a white board as I already have a lot to carry. The magnets stick to the green field area. There is a small storage area for the magnets when they aren't in use. Plus I also can easily store pieces of paper that I commonly have at the match. There are extra magnets for the teams and one for the ball and two for the keepers. The board says it comes with a lifetime guarantee too. Kwik Goal Soccer Magnetic Board

I love this magnetic board! I can put the little round magnets on the board to demonstrate some plays, close it with the magnets in the position they're in, throw the clipboard in a backpack and drive home, open the backpack, and the magnets haven't budged from their position! Very cool!

Attached to the right hand side of the foldable clipboard is a button pouch that holds all of your round magnets (12 red, 12 blue, 2 yellow, 1 black).

The clipboard side contains a book's worth of practice sheets. On one side: A Training Session Planner, allowing you to write down the date, time, location and duration of your practice (as well as other info), and then below that is a chart where you can plot out what you're going to do in your practice, including the amount of time you'll allot to each drill or event.

On the back of the page you have a top and bottom half. The top half is a soccer field and the bottom half is a Notes area. There I'll take notes about the practice session, including notes on player performances, effectiveness of drills, etc.

It's nice and thin and I'm carrying it with me at all times in practice. Get one for yourself and be the talk of the town.

The total board is very helpful for game day organization and for demonstration purposes. The only thing I wish were differnt were the size of the magnets. I actually went out and bought larger ones that I can write the team memebers name on so I can place them in position during the game. Overall, great product.

I found this clip board very useful. I coach 2 AYSO U10 soccer teams. With this board, I can easily get my points acorss to the players. Even for the more abstract concepts, the kids get it right away when they can visualize it. I have spent the last season teaching my players about off-side plays on the field with just verbal instruction, with not so great results. But the board got them really engaged and next thing I knew, they were setting up off-side traps on the field on their own. It's amazing how well today's internet and video game savy kids respond to graphic cues. The board is also great for quick instructions and play setups during the game. I highly recommend it. - Soccer'

Wood Desk Caddy Cherry - wood desk caddy, desk caddy

First of all, I think this product is greatly improved over previous versions that have been sold by HandStands. I believe they are the manufacturer and have heard past reviews and made changes to improve their product. I did get one of their old models and now have a new one that is much more superior to the previous version.

Improvements:

1. If you ordered their old model, you may have had issues with the welds on that hold the cross-bar base to the main stand. The new model has a whole new connecting mechanism that gives more support and the welds are solid. I have no concern at all about this base holding up. I did see someone leave a review about this for this product, but I think he got the wrong item--for some time, the new and old listings were using the same photos--which really confused me, but I think this is the only one now--under their new brand "Windsor."

2. Other nice improvement is that both tables are adjustable up to 90 degree. This gives about 180 degrees in adjustability (not sure if this is a word), which means, if you have the tables flat, you can adjust them 90 degrees in either direction. I like this because it gives me a better option for storing the desk at home.

3. Another new option that is given with the new desk is that there are two install options on the smaller table. You can put the tables flush together (with a warning that it could be a pinching hazard--but if you're not concerned, its nice to have) or you can put it on with a space between the desks--as seen in the picture. Since I have a toddler that gets in to EVERYTHING, I prefer having the space so that if the desk were to give, it wouldn't pinch or smash small or large fingers.

4. The height adjustment mechanism seems to function better--I can tell its a different design, just not sure exactly how, but that it does seem more stable and able to hold more weight.

5. Instructions seemed a little clearer, for me at least. If you know how to read illustrations and drawings, these are very clear, just not a lot of explanation--which really isn't needed for this simple assembly. I did have a question with the last model and called the HandStands Customer Service, which was very helpful and answered my questions well enough. So if you have a question, give them a call, they will likely be able to answer any questions.

6. Packaging is very improved. The other model I ordered I had to get a replacement part for one that got damaged in shipping. Now the desk comes in a well fitted box and packaging set that protects everything well. I'm guessing their returns have gone down a tone with this new packaging. The old packaging was just asking to get punished during shipping, causing a lot of damaged parts when customers (like me) got them.

Places for future improvement:

1. As good as they've designed this--and I'd say its top-of-the-line now--I would like to see one change, and maybe I'm being picky. When the tables are at maximum height, the table does get a little wobbly. I'm wondering if there is anything that can be done to stabilize the desk more--this would be if you are standing and using it. If you are sitting and using it, its generally very stable.

Features:

Of course there are some of the same great features that I like.

1. I like the wheels--I move this thing around a lot. Sometimes I use it in the computer room when I'm working on something with my wife and other times I wheel it to the family room while I work in front of the TV or to the bedroom.

2. There is a height adjustment, which I like when I move from the chair in the computer room to the living room couch to the bedroom. This has no problem sliding under our bed, which makes it nice to use with the bed--if your bed is really high, it may not clear--you'll have to measure first.

3. I like the stoppers on both tables which help keep laptops, books, papers, computer mouse, etc. from falling on to the floor.

4. Colors--I have their new Black Cherry and I love it. Yes, it is pretty dark, but in the light it gives off a nice dark red cherry look. If you want something a little lighter (and more brown), I'd go for their other color--the regency walnut, which didn't quite go with our home decor.

Overall, this desk works well for our family. I use the new one with my laptop and my son uses the old one to do his homework on. I may need to get another for my wife, but for now she's content on using her lapmat/lapdesk on the could or in bed to keep her laptop off her legs. Windsor Laptop Stand (Black Cherry)

This table -- like most other laptop tables -- balances the large table top on a single pole with a base of legs. The design places pressure on the base of the single poll where it joins the base of legs. For this table, 4 screws stick up from the base of legs to a plate inside the single pole. Four little welds join the plate inside the single pole to the single pole. The strain on the 4 little welds is too great and the welds will break. In my case, the welds broke within 2 months - despite the fact that I was extremely gentle with it. Still, I will say that I used in on a carpeted floor, which would add pressure.

I took the table to a local community college and asked the welding department for help. The welding teacher devised a solution. As shown in this video, the table needs strong support inside the single pole and at the base where it attaches to the legs. My local community college implemented this solution approximately 6 months ago, I use the table for long hours every single day - dragging it back and forth on the carpet. As a result of the solution, the table has provided great support and great service ever since. I hope that the company will study this video and improve the product. Perhaps a community college welding team could help!?!

The table has many positive features including a nice wide area for the mouse, which can be used for *either* left-handed or right-handed users. Also, the table has a small lip on the adjustable part that holds the laptop ~ this feature keeps the laptop from sliding off.

I am pleased with my table, but only after the reinforcement solution to support the welds and distribute the tabletop strain was implemented. - Wood Desk Caddy - Wood Desk Caddy Cherry - Desk Caddy - Laptop Desk Caddy'
