Flash Memory - 32gb, sdhc

I am upgrading from A-DATA 16GB Turbo 150X Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) Class 6 Memory Card - Retail Package using a Pentax K200D 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with Shake Reduction (Body Only). The increase in performance is obvious from the first picture taken. RAW pictures are written to the card in less than a second. The camera does not hesitate due to the card when taking photos in RAW mode unless they are truly "rapid fire" photographs. This card writes RAW images as fast as the old card wrote JPEG files. In JPEG mode, the card speed doesn't become an issue until many (8+) rapid fire pictures are taken. In both cases, the camera flushes all pictures in around 3 seconds. The old card would take 15 seconds to flush the camera.

This card isn't cheap, but I can totally recommend it. It is both fast and large (over 1900 RAW pics, I would guess 5,000 JPEG pics). I totally believe in RAW. What is the point of the $1500 zoom or $500 prime lens if the detail is never saved to memory? RAW gives you far more editing and photo recovery options than JPEG. Taking JPEG photos with a cheap card is like putting a cheap non-coated UV filter on your expensive lens. Take a laptop/netbook and something like HP SimpleSave 2 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive HPBAAD0020HBK-NHSN (Gloss Black) and you are all set to take as many RAW pictures as you want.

Update May 13, 2010: Upgraded to Pentax K-7 14.6 MP Digital SLR with Shake Reduction and 720p HD Video (Body Only) camera. This card provides benefits over the lesser A-data cards, namely an extended RAW burst mode. Camera can capture roughly 1300 RAW or roughly twice as many in the best JPEG mode. In raw mode, camera took 15 pictures in full burst mode, then took 5 pictures in roughly 3-4 fps, and then was able to take pictures continuously at 2 frames per second (in RAW, with full memory). Camera took 10 seconds to write the buffer to the card. In comparison, the A-data card took 14 pictures in full burst mode, and then slowed down to approximately 0.66 fps (or 2 frames in approximately 3 seconds). It took about 15 seconds to write the buffer to the card. If you take fast action photos, this card in the Pentax K7 essentially gives you an extended burst mode feature. When shooting video, this card gives a similar speed increase when flushing the recording due to pause, which can be essential if you need to rapidly start it back unexpectedly. I have a second one of these cards on order.

I also have a point and shoot class Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Black), and this card provides little benefit for this camera. The JPEG files it writes are less than 5MB so the extra speed isn't noticed. The AVCHD encoding removes the need for speed when shooting HD video. I use A-DATA 32 GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card 32GSDHC6 (Blue) with this camera with no issues. You won't be happy if you put it in your SLR and try to shoot raw or record MPEG encoded HD video, as the K7 does. The A-Data 32GB card is actually slower than the 16GB A-data card referenced at the beginning of this review. For .JPEG cameras which have AVCHD capability, the A-DATA 32GB card is a cheap alternative with generous storage capacity (over 6000 pictures on largest and finest picture mode, or over 4 hours of HD video at maximum resolution and quality).

Tip for maintaining memory card speed: Once you have copied all the photos from your card to your computer or storage device, format the card in the camera you are going to use it in using the camera menus. This provides two benefits: all fragmentation is eliminated because you are starting out with a brand new file system with no data in it (filesystems with all files deleted can still suffer from directory and file allocation table fragmentation). Secondly, the camera will optimize the file system parameters (such a sector size) to work the most effectively for that camera. The SD card may take longer to copy to the computer, but that is OK: the important thing is to be able to have top performance in the camera. In-computer performance may be traded off for faster camera performance. SanDisk Extreme III - Flash memory card - 32 GB - Class 10 - SDHC

i just got my new card and canon vixia HFS100. since all of the canon literature on this site and canon's site stated a 'class 4 or higher' SDHC card was needed for the highest quality video modes (FXP and MXP), i purchased this card intending to use the camera's highest quality 24 fps mode. when i put the card in, i was able to use it, but only at the lower video quality settings. when i went to canon's support page (not the product brochure but the tech support section) it was the first time i saw that the camera is specifically looking for a 'class 4 or class 6' message to be sent from the card to the camera. i can only guess that is why my new $200 class 10 card is being treated like a class 2. i put in a sandisk class 4 16 gb card i usually use for my still camera and it works on the highest quality video mode - go figure.

haven't heard yet from canon, but hopefully they have a fix for this glitch. can't say much about the card itself - i'm sure it's great - it works fine in my still camera - this is canon's problem for sure but since many folks might be looking at this card for that camera, it's something to look out for.

I tested this card in two ways. First, I used it on a Sony Alpha A550 digital SLR firing 7 frames a second. The camera dumps the jpeg files into a high-speed buffer and simultaneously siphons them out of the buffer onto the SD card. In theory, the faster the card, the more frames should be fired at full speed before the buffer tops out and the camera has to slow down. I got no measurable benefit at all over a Class 4 SD card rated at 15 MB/sec. Considering that the camera is only generating files at about 40 MB/sec, I should have easily seen a huge improvement.

My second test was simply draging and dropping about 250 MB onto the card with the card plugged directly into my computer. My (averaged) results were that it took 26.2 seconds with the 15 MB/sec card and it took 19.7 seconds with this 30 MB/sec card. The test-to-test variance was less than one half second. The computer in question has a quad core Intel CPU, but I have no clue about the data bus speeds.

There are two possible explanations: first, the computer and the camera may have internal transfer rates that are holding things back. Second, the card is overrated. Either way, the benefit to me of the extra speed is zero on the camera, and half of what it should be on the computer. The 15 MB/sec Class 4 card that I used was made by SanDisk also. I understand that other brands of Class 4 SD cards are as much as a factor of 2 slower than the SanDisk Class 4, BTW. The SanDisk Class 4 card is a very good buy.

In summary, on the equipment that I'm using, the speed of this card is not worth the price. SanDisk tends to be honest about the performance of their cards, so I'll blame my equipment, but bear in mind that the A550 camera is Sony's very latest.

It is well documented that some video cameras actually run slower with the faster cards because of incompatibility issues, so if you're considering one of these cards for video application, check with your camera manufacturer first.

In the future, I'll buy SanDisk Class 4 cards -- at least until I own some equipment that gets more of the full benefit from the added speed of this card. I should add that the card does hold roughly twice as much data as my 16 GB cards, as, of course, it should. - Class 10 - 32gb - Sdhc - Sandisk'

Dewalt Replacement Batteries - battery, dewalt

I own/run a low voltage company in St. Louis. We pre-wire houses for phone/TV/networking, install intercoms, security, and central vacuum systems, and home theatres as well. We currently have 20+ DeWalt 18volt cordless tools and at least that many batteries. We are constantly asked by carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and competitiors how the tools hold up.

We can drill 100+ 3/4 holes on one battery every day with no problem. We can drill 10+ 2 1/4" holes with a DeWalt self feed bit on one battery. The recip saw, the circular saw, the angle grinder, and the flashlights all work flawlessly. We even have the vacuums so we can clean up after ourselves.

Now the old batteries (all black) last about 1 year for regular use. We have a few new batteries (yellow top) that are a little over a year old that show no sign of slowing down.

We have found that when it is cold they do not last as long. Also the charge needs to be in a semi warm area (not in a garage). Also, the battery needs to be drained most of the way before charging. Repeated recharging of a half dead battery dramatically reduces the life. But any battery manufacturer will tell you that. DEWALT DC9096-2 18-Volt XRP 2.4 Amp Hour NiCad Pod-Style Battery, 2 Pack

I'm hearing a lot of complaints about the batteries. Face it, the batteries are based on NiCad technology. NiCad are not known for infinite shelf-life, has a memory, and absolutely hates to be placed on a charger for extended periods of time.

Now knowing all the good and bad things about NiCads, these batteries are absolutely no different than you will find in any other system using NiCads. If you don't understand the why your batteries are dying off so quickly, it most likely can be explained by researching the things to do and not do to NiCads.

I've beat the hell out of the tools and the batteries and still manage to get an excess of 2yrs of service out of these batteries. If you open one of these up, all you find is a series of sub-C NiCad batteries in them. Count them up and just go price sub-C NiCad batteries with the same Amp-Hr rating. You will soon fine that even if you tried to replace the batteries into the existing battery case, it is still cheaper and easier to buy replacements.

Rechargable batteries of any technology do NOT have infinite life. With absolutely following standard practice care of the battery type, you can extend this life to the theoritical max. That is hard to do on the job site when you need to get the job done quick. I use the 15min. charger, which is great but at a significant cost in service life of the batteries. You are never supposed to charge the batteries while they are hot. This means if you run it down at the job site, you shouldn't be placing them into a rapid charger. You should have enough spare batteries to get you busy while letting a natural battery rotation occur that insures they are cool when you charge. Slow charging extends the life of the batteries as well by getting internal temperatures lower. You should never leave a NiCad on a charger. You should run down the NiCad battery before charging to help avoid memory.

You can mention any battery technology and there are do's and don'ts. I've had Lithium Ion batteries in a cell phone last less than 1yr.

It all depends on your battery usage habits. Once you understand what you are supposed to do to extend the batteries life, you can usually figure out pretty quickly why you are not getting the life you expected.

Good solid product. I'd buy them again without hesitation. And I have yet to see any group of cordless tool manufacture's use a standard battery interface so that you can use the same battery in different brands of cordless tools. So being locked-in to a particular cordless tool manufacturer is a given.

This is all the price you pay for being cordless. The only way around all this is to pull out the ole 50' extension cord.

IMHO

If you expect to buy these new in the package, you will be disappointed. ToolKing offers cheap prices by reselling you returned merchandise (I suspect)from their retail stores. I received my batteries used, you can tell by the brass connection points being ruffed up, and not in their original packages. One of the batteries takes forever to charge and this may be why it was returned. I also ordered a charger (not in the orig Package) where they were nice enough to place a crappy ToolKing inventory sticker over the vent holes. You know, the kind that peels off flake by flake. They dont return emails or phone calls. I was ripped off, so beware!

I wasn't going to bother to write a review for a couple of replacement power cells, until I saw some of the other opinions, here. I am very pleased with all the DeWalt equipment I use. The batteries do a fine job of powering everything except the circular saw - that one lacks guts.

I used my original power cells for a couple of years before they died of old-age and recharging. I am confident that they lasted for the number of rechargings that DeWalt promises. I followed the guidelines, and only occasionally hit the reconditioner button on the charging cycle. The people who get such short lives out of these power cells may not be bothering to use that feature of their DeWalt charger.

Yes, I am pleased with these replacements. They work well, and are the genuine DeWalt parts. Yes, I've had a really good experience with these power cells. Yes, I'd recommend them.

I have used Dewalt 18 volt tools for several years and a 24 volt saw for the last 3 years. Out of 5 18 volt batteries only one died after 2 years of use and it was used when I got it. The 24 volt saw has only one battery and it works as good as the day I bought it. These tools are used almost daily and I dont do a good job of taking care of them. - Battery - Dewalt - Rechargeable Batteries - Dewalt Replacement Batteries'

Kindle Book Light - kindle lighted leather cover, kindle accessory

I've noticed that like myself customers have been concerned primarily with two things regarding the new lighted case from amazon. These are: 1)The weight and 2) The uneven lighting. My review will briefly discuss these two things.

1)The Weight - The lighted leather case is a nice weight, sturdy and comfortable to hold. In ounces it is about the weight of the kindle itself however don't let that concern you. With the case on it feels like a medium sized paperback, however it is far much more comfortable to hold. It's easy to hold the case open like a book (nice for couch and table type reading) or to fold the front back and close it with the bungee so that the bungee doesn't hang around (this is good for bedtime reading).Closing the front back with bungee keeps the case folded in position and you don't have to worry about it bothering you. BTW THIS CASE FOLDS BACK 100% - Very comfortable. In sum very comfortable to read with the case and very sturdy.

2) The uneven lighting - Amazon's pictures don't do this case justice. The light hits the ENTIRE screen. Yes if you look closely it's brighter in the top right corner then in the bottom left but Amazon's pics make it look the top is lighted while the bottom is dark. There is good light all over the screen. Trust me I'm fussy about these things - the lighting will not bother you, your entire screen will be lighted and it is extremely pleasant to read in the dark.

*Final Thoughts - Great case, good quality, works well, kindle feels very secure and protected (I would feel comfortable slipping this case into my backpack or suitcase and I think it would sustain some mild impact). Lastly hinges are a non-issue, casing of the kindle will not get damaged with normal or even slightly aggressive use. You could damage the kindle by trying to pull the back of the case but you'd have to really force it to cause any sort of damage to your kindle. The hinges work fine and should not be a concern to any case user.

Update 1st December 2010:

Have now been using the case for 3 months. Leather still looks impeccable. Some people expressed concern that the bungee cord might loosen with use. I have not experienced any loosening so far. Quality of the product has proven outstanding. I've occasionally spilled or messed the cover, just a wipe with a damp cloth has cleaned it up, and the case looks like new. Have to admit I enjoy the feel of the case in my hand, there's just something great about taking your kindle to a coffee shop in this case, it just looks and feels so classy. Also with regard to the hinges: I have had no scratches on my kindle or any other issues, so I remain convinced that the hinges are a non issue. Kindle Lighted Leather Cover, Burnt Orange (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle)

I was hesitant to buy this cover mostly due to the pictures in its listing, which seem to show a light that doesn't even extend to the opposite corner. The fact that I have not been impressed with the Amazon's Kindle covers in the past didn't help. I went ahead and purchased it because the cover I wanted isn't available yet and I don't like to take my Kindle out and about without a cover. Now I am glad that I went ahead and bought it.

PROS:

1. The light is much better than I thought it would be. Using it in a darkened room I found that the light did the job very well. In a pitch black room, it performs even better. While the screen corner opposite the light is a bit dimmer than other areas, there is no problem reading the page at all.

2. The light gets its power from the Kindle itself, through the gold-plated hinges which attach it to the cover, so batteries are a thing of the past. When your Kindle goes to sleep, the light will go out as well. It will also turn off when you slide it back into the case.

3. The cover is slim, well-fitted and very easy to attach and detach using the hinges. The inside has good padding. The leather outer surface has a nice pebbled texture with the exception of a smooth area along the edge of the front. While stiff enough to protect the reader, the cover is slight flexible and the front easily folds behind when reading so you can hold your Kindle with one hand if you like.

4. A great plus is that the cover has an elastic cord that fits into a groove on the front of it. This holds your cover closed (unlike the original Kindle 2 cover that would flop open in your purse & let things slide into it) and easily distinguishes the front from the back--important as many owners of the Kindle 2 cover accidentally opened it from the back, which could cause cracking along the Kindle's spine.

CONS:

I haven't found any, really. The light Is a bit hard (stiff) to pull out of the cover, but then you wouldn't want it to be flopping out when you don't want to use it so that is more of a Pro than a Con.

The one concern I do have is about pulling the light in and out--I wonder if whatever wiring or conductor that is used to get the power from the hinges to the light will eventually break. But that is something to find out down the road. Right now, the more I use this cover, the more I like it. - Kindle Lighted Leather Cover - Kindle Book Light - Kindle 3 Case - Kindle Accessory'

Kid Craft

We used this product for a five year old party, which may have been biting off a little more than we could chew. Perfect for one or two kids who are interested in coloring and watching their creations shrink in the oven. Comes with several pre-printed designs and lots of "stuff" to make the finished product into keychains, magnents, etc. Shrinky Dinks Cool Gear

This was a great project for the whole family to get involved in. Very easy instructions, plenty of pictures to color- more than enough to create necklaces, braclets, and clips for backpacks. Would definitely buy another one.

Fun to do with my 8-year-old son, but some of the Dinks in this package that can be colored are some of the dumbest images. Whoever designed the images to be colored, I believe, did not complete either survey research or focus groups about what images 7- to 13-year-olds are into. As a result, almost half of the dinks in the package are left to the side because my son had no interest in coloring any of them because of how stupid some of the images were.'

Poor Customer Service - toddler suit, poor quality

We got this for our 2yr old for our wedding and it was just the cutest thing ever! We had to have it sized down a little and it turned out beautifully. The packaging it came in was just like an adult would get, so cute! He looked great and we loved the suit! Gino Wedding Toddler Boy Formal Suit Black Size 2 / 2t (2t)

This tuxedo is a good deal for the price, especially compared to what the tuxedo rental would have cost us. It is polyester and doesn't have the same look as a wool suit (not that it matters for a 2-year-old). The shirt is much too short and does not tuck in appropriately. This is mitigated by keeping the jacket buttoned but disappointing, none the less.

We purchased this suit for my 2 1/2 year-old son. He was the ring-bearer in a wedding and the suit was perfect! The price is great for what you get... the pants were a bit long on my very short little man, the shirt came untucked while he was playing, and the jacket has very broad shoulders. But overall the fit was great and the suit looked expensive and fit well! - Poor Quality - Formal Suits - Boy - Toddler Suit'

weight lifting gloves

Boy have I had a hard time finding a pair of weight lifting gloves! My previous ones were simple leather Saranac gloves, not much padding but they lasted for several years. The leather eventually rotted out forming huge holes. But I can definitely say that the Saranac gloves were awesome.

Now onto the replacement. I tried four different types of gloves.

Harbinger 143

Harbinger 1260

Harbinger 1215 Big Grip II

GoFit Diamond-Trac

The Harbinger 143 gloves were OK. They didn't have too much padding, but fit very snug and were difficult to get off. Also, the fingers were short.

The Harbinger 1260 and 1215 were both unusable due to having too much padding in the palm and knuckle area. The padding is comfortable for pressing exercises (e.g. bench press), but makes it all but impossible to do pulling exercises (e.g. pull ups, curls, deadlifts, rows, etc.). You can try them yourselves, but save some money and take my word for it.

The GoFit Diamond-Trac gloves are the best of the bunch for my needs. They have a little padding in the palm, but not enough to interfere with your grip. They are lightweight, so I'm not sure how long they'll last, but I'll reserve judgment on that. They do make my hands sweat, because the neoprene on the back doesn't seem to breathe well. They run a little larger in size than the other gloves. Also, I like that they have a finger tab to help you pull off the gloves.

UPDATE: I've been using the GoFit Gloves four times a week for the last few months, and they are very comfortable and showing no wear. So far so good!

Please be kind enough to indicate if reviews are helpful. GoFit Diamond-Tac Weightlifting Glove and Training CD (Medium)

I am a serious lifter, and lift heavy and hard. Padding? I wear gloves for one reason, to keep my hands from getting calloused (my wife appreciates this). These are durable, last me longer (6 months) than any other brand I've used. Fit is good, as well as comfort. I don't like a lot of padding, doesn't feel right. I can't believe some one has the audacity to say a glove isn't for serious lifters, over lack of padding. These gloves are a rock solid value. And have become the only brand I purchase.

I had to recently replace a pair of old Harbinger workout gloves. I had gotten a pair of Nikes, and absolutely hated them (they were so slick, I was scared of losing my grip on the bar).

Anyway, after reading the reviews of the GoFit Diamond-Tac gloves, I decided to give them and try.

I'm very glad I did. They were everything I read about in the reviews and then some. The grip extremely well, yet breathe better than any glove I've ever had. They're easy to take off (thanks to the slightly extra long index finger).

I didn't view the video that comes w/ it. The other reviewers said it wasn't very good, so I decided to take their word for it.

I heartily recommend them. You absolutely won't regret using these gloves.

The only other thing I should mention is that they do run a tad on the large side. So if you typically wear an XL glove, just get a large. If you typically wear a large, get a medium.

After a few weeks of working out with kettlebell weights, my hands became blistered and painful. After the blisters on my hands became so painful I could hardly get through a modest workout, I finally decided to buy these gloves. The gloves allow me to firmly grip the kettlebell, but at the same time it allows the weight to slide when I loosen my grip. Keep in mind that the skin on the base of your fingers and possibly part of your palm will still get rubbed and may tear open the skin using these gloves with the kettlebell weights. Although the skin may tear, it can always heal and become tougher. When you don't use gloves however, it will pinch the skin and cause blisters and contusions to form which are much harder to deal with.

The padding is in horizontal strips across the palms. When it lines up with the weights you're holding, it is helpful but I've found that to only happen on curls and vertical presses, not standard bench press. Instead the bar settle in between the padding and the gloves are only marginally helpful.

I just picked these gloves up today and used them at the gym for the first time.....and overall they were ok. The gripping strength is definitely there as I had no problems with grip for weight training. The only major problem these gloves have is that they have NO PADDING at all ....If you are a serious weightlifter using serious weights like me, then these gloves are not for you. If you do light weight or you are in the gym for lighter weight and more repetitions, then these gloves will definitely serve their purpose. Overall, for $12 bucks, these are a good deal, but Go Fit definitely does not impress on the comfort and padding level for the more rigorous weightlifters. I am not sure how well the duration holds up on these gloves since it was the first time at the gym but if they fall apart quickly I will make sure to update on that.

I have used these for about a half dozen workouts so far. I am not a body builder, but I workout hard for about an hour. They show no signs of wear. The pads seem very durable, but they are not so thick that they cause pinching (99% of the time).

I wear between large and extra large. I ordered XL. These seem true to size. I'm glad I rounded up. When your hands/arms are dead and the gloves are sweaty, a little larger size is easier to remove.

The main reason for buying these is that the material is synthetic so I can wash it without fear.

About the only nit is that there is a useless velcro closure which serves more of a purpose for advertising. I wish it didn't have it. I was not looking for gloves with wrist wraps. I wanted something simple on/off as sometimes I take a break to mix in some cardio exercises.'

Overall, the case was what I expected for the price. It was easy to install and it fit perfectly. My major issue was with the rubberized coating. After a few days, the coating will start to rub off around the edges revealing white plastic. The cover just makes your phone look old and beat up after normal wear. I would not recommend this cover unless you're just looking for a cheap quick fix.

The lesson learned is that you get what you pay for. Black Rubberized Hard Phone Cover for HTC EVO Shift 4G

This item took 2 months to arrive. I called customer service 3 times about this item and they pushed back the delivery date by several weeks every time it was overdue. There was no notification that this item was out of stock and back ordered before or after I ordered it. The initial delivery estimate was reasonable. It wasn't until the item was overdue and I called customer service to figure out what was going on that I was informed that it was out of stock. During that first call customer service also informed me that although the item I purchased was "shipped from and sold by Amazon.com", that my order would actually be fulfilled by some unknown third-party vendor. The following 2 calls to customer service (spaced several weeks apart) also yeilded negative results. I am very upset and disappointed with Amazon.com's communication and customer service on this transaction.

The item itself is not great and not terrible. The combination of rubber inside and hard plastic outside shells give me confidence that the phone won't get scratched or damaged if I dropped it, but the screen protector is difficult to apply without getting air bubbles in it, it de-sensitizes the touch screen and fingerprint smudges don't wipe away as well as the uncovered screen. The screen protector does give me peace of mind that the glass surface of the phone won't be damaged in my pocket with keys and other sharp objects near it or if dirt or sand got on it.

The case adds a lot of bulk and weight to the phone. It offers "water resistance" to the charging port, headphone jack, power button and volume buttons, but the flap that protects the charging port doesn't close very well and hangs open most of the time which defeats the purpose. The case also has gaping holes by the microphone, speaker, earpiece, camera and flash, not to mention the keyboard which isn't easily fixed given the slide design of the phone. Suffice it to say that this case offers little to no protection in the areas that are most prone to water damage.

All in all, I suppose it is better than nothing, but probably not worth the premium that Otter Box charges for its cases. I am going to give Speck a try on my next phone. They seem to be a little less popular, a little less expensive, but still recieve good reviews.

This phone cover is really good for the price. Make sure once you put it on your phone your not going to be taking it off anytime soon or have another one on order. I pulled the front plate off once to put a new screen protector on and the corner "grip" or tab whatever hold it to the phone it broke. Now when I close the keyboard the upper left corner talkes to me. The rest of it is perfect though. It fits really snugg and has been doing its job.'

Power Plug Adapter - international, power plug adapter

I can't claim to have personally tried every single outlet in Europe, but I can tell you that the majority of European plugs are recessed: that is, the actual socket into which the plug prongs go is set into a little round hole about half an inch deep. This adapter does not fit into that recess, and is therefore useless. I found this out the hard way in both Holland and the Czech Republic, and great was the wailing and lamentation on both occasions.

You can use this with an extender built for the purpose (see the Simran Plug Adapter on this site for an example), but if you're doing that, why not just get an adapter that fits in the first place? All-in-One Travel Power Plug Adapter for US, UK, EU, AU

I just got back from 10 days in France and Italy. Of the three of us on the trip, mine was the only adapter to work. It did a great job on plugs for the iPhone, hair dryer, flat iron, camera batteries and that was all we took with us.

What a lot of people don't realize is most of your modern stuff does not need a converter (plus this adapter). So we just used the adapter and all our stuff was rated for both US and EU use. Look on your equipment for 100 or 110V-240V, 50-60Hertz, if it says this it will work in the US and Europe.

I was visiting India and Europe. I had the choice of purchasing multiple batteries or this for my dSLR. Clearly, this was a wiser decision. The product feels a little flimsy, however, it works as described. I was able to charge my camera's batteries in India, Paris, Brussels and Venice. There were absolutely no issues. My brother borrowed it to run his laptop and reported no problems with it. It is also pretty cheap for its performance.

I have been living in Korea and needed a good adapter so that I could use my American electronics without using the bulky transformer boxes (almost all my gear has built in transformers, so I only needed an adapter). However, I found that when using the European setting, even the slightest nudge would cause it to lose connectivity. I even went as far as trying to tightly tape it into place, but it would still only hold for a few seconds.

in addition, when I first plugged it in and occasionally later on, it would make loud sparks. There are even scorch marks on it and the American surge protector I was trying to use with it. I've been reading more now, and realize that cheap adapters are very unwise in Korea and can cause fires.

my advice is to find a much more reliable adapter, especially if you're going to be using it in Korea.

I tried to use this all-in-one adapter on my recent trip to multiple cities in Europe. But, the coupling (connection) was loose in every socket, and hence I spent a lot of time trying to get this adapter to fit. Hence, I'd recommend against buying this adapter.

Luckily, I had also bought dedicated adapters for each country, and those worked extremely well. Here is the list for anyone who intends to travel to Europe.

x Lewis N. Clark Grounded Italy Adapter Plug - Italy only

x Power Bright PB-12 US to UK 3-Prong Travel Outlet Plug Adapter - UK only

x Grounded Adapter - CE Certified - USA to Europe - Heavy Duty Adapter - Most places in Europe

And, a power strip to connect multiple US style outlets

x Monster MP OTG400 BK Outlets To Go 4 Outlet Travel Power Strip (Black)

Ok, I should have believed the others who said it doesn't work. Here I sit in my UK hotel with three of these things and one of them occasionally works for a short time. In the 4 days I have been here, I have nearly gone nuts watching these adapters flash on and off. As an electrical engineer, I admire the concept, but I can see that there is some manufacturing problem or design defect so that the internal contact is fatally flawed. With the UK prongs popped out, and with it inserted into a UK plug strip, I can rock the body of the adapter very slightly and cause the internal connection within the adapter to make or break. Unfortunately getting an adapter to stay 'ON' or connected is nearly impossible. All three are the same. They snap open nicely, and plug in smoothly and then the LED on the adapter flashes for part of a second and then goes off. At that point, the body of the adapter is wobbly on the prongs, which are solidly pushed into the UK plug. So I try to rock the body to coax it into the ON mode and keep it there. If tape would hold it, i'd try that, but keeping it on is nearly impossible. If it were not for the 110 volt plugs in this hotel, I wouldn't be able to use the laptop to write this bad review. Whatever problems cause this - manufacturing defect, or design flaw, it doesn't matter. Of course, I will return these once I get back to the US, so that Amazon will know they should pull this product. - Power Plug Adapter - Universal Adapter - Converter - International'

Ipad 2

For the most part, this case does what it's supposed to do. When I initially heard about the Apple Smart Cover, I knew it wouldn't be for me because I've owned portable Apple products before. The exposed metal on the back will always, ALWAYS become scratched over time without proper care. The Smart Cover doesn't address that reality.

Anyway, after a few days of researching and sitting on the fence, I decided to go with this particular case. It has a fair amount of positioning options, and they all work out pretty well. When you fold the front cover back into the latch, you can either set it down for a keyboard-friendly layout, or prop it up into landscape mode for or a more monitor-like experience. I wouldn't recommend standing the iPad up in Portrait Mode with this case though, it's just too wobbly.

My biggest gripe with the case is how loose the iPad eventually becomes. You slide it into the case, and on the left side there's a piece of cloth that you have to tuck behind your iPad to keep it secure. Unfortunately, friction is the only thing keeping the cloth and your device in place, so it tends to lose its grip easily. The iPad will sometimes start to slide downward when the case is standing, and it tends to also move around when I'm changing the general position of the case, or just holding it with the cover folded flat to the back. Too often, I was finding myself reaching behind the iPad to tuck that piece of cloth back in so I wouldn't have to worry about the device trying to slip out. I eventually alleviated that issue by applying 2 velcro strips- one to the cloth, and one to the inside of the case so it would keep the iPad firmly in place. Once I made that adjustment, I had absolutely no problems with the case anymore.

When it's all said and done, it's a nice case for the money. It protects my iPad and looks pretty sleek while doing so. Build quality could be just a little better, and I really wish I didn't have to apply my own workaround to keep the iPad securely fastened, otherwise this would easily be a 4 star product. CaseCrown Apple iPad 2 Royal Standby Horizontal case (Black) for the Apple iPad 2 Wifi / 3G Model 16GB, 32GB, 64GB

I did not like the fact that Apple's own iPad2 cover did not do anything to protect the back, so I did not purchase their original cover and waited to get a case for it. I'm glad I did. This case is very similar to the original iPad1 case from Apple. It protects the whole iPad2, not just the glass front. I'm not too fond of the velvet lining, but I can get used to it. Even better is that the price for this is less than the iPad2 cover only.

The case is OK but has a design flaw. The mechanism for holding the ipad 2 in the cases does not work. Ipad tends to slip out when in the case so that the rear camera is not usable. I solved the problem with some Velcro on the flap that is supposed to hold the ipad 2 into the case. Now it works fine.

I also wanted a case that would protect the back of my iPad 2. while this case does do that, there is not much else to recommended it. They case stretches with use and my iPad is constantly slipping out. I use my iPad primarily to talk with my husband via skype while he is deployed with the military. The case rubs against the microphone making it impossible to use without the ear buds w/microphone, which of course must be purchased separately. Another issue with slippage is that the case frequently covers the front camera and for the back camera one must hold the back flap away. There should be some way to hold it in place. It seems as if they just adjusted the placement of the holes and otherwise didnt change this case from the one for the original iPad. In short, it's too big which causes all kinds of secondary issues. Also, it off gases FOREVER as I have had it for a month and the smell of it still gives me headaches.

In terms of appearance it looks good due to its simple design and does a good job protecting the device with it's felt lining inside. It was very easy to insert the iPad but it took me a while to adjust it so the rear camera and the controls are not covered. The quality of the materials is not the best and the cover feels cheap. The elastic band that is used to keep it closed is a good addition but it can stretch out easily. On the outside, the pleather looks sturdy enough to stand normal wear and tear. If you are looking for a good-looking, low-cost case to protect your iPad this case will do a good job.

First off, I am an Apple fanboy and love most everything they release. But from the first minute I had the smart cover, I hated it. My iPad would slide all over the passenger seat when I was driving and the back wasn't protected.

So I started my search for a replacement. I found this one on Amazon and ordered it before it was available.

Right when I put it on, I was in love. It's not perfect, but it is very similar the the original iPad case. I love it and I love the angle that it sits at on the desk. Makes typing MUCH nicer on the iPad 2.

Highly recommend.'

Dell Replacement Ac Adapter

NOTE THAT THIS IS THE 90W. Now that doest make a difference if you running most Latitude models of Dells laptop as the power inverter and charging unit in the laptop support either 65W or 90W. Just make sure that your model can support either charger by checking dells replacement part page for chargers as it should list both if you laptop is compatible. Getting this adapter does not in any way shape or form, cause your laptop battery to go dead or kill your laptop. Only other thing that I think should be mentioned is that the charger is not from Dell, but considering they charge $20+ and shipping for a new one the sub $10 range for a no name replacement that will either work or not is a great deal. Just for reference I'm a computer science major and have refurbished numerous Dell laptops to sell on the side. Replacement AC Adapter for Dell PA-12, 5U092, F7970, PA-1650-05D

The delivery of this product was great (it came early, and was well-packaged), and it even came with some printed material, which I didn't expect, but was happy to have. The price was great, too (especially when compared to the alternatives!!!). My laptop requires almost constant connection to the powercord, since the battery is very old and can only hold a charge for 20-25 minutes or so. But now, when the powercord is connected to the laptop, the mouse lags. When I unplug the powercord, the mouse works fine. I'm not sure why this happens.

I have both the OEM charger and bought this as a replacement. I notice no difference in the performance. However, there is a big difference in price vs. the OEM version. I Highly recommmend this product.

Best service from an internet transaction ever for me. Even fixed MY ERROR! It arrived very promptly--even before promised and seems to be a very reasonable price for a dependable component. I will definitely come her first for my next purchase.

I have been using it for a few months now with constantly "on" connecting to AC power. It works flawlessly from the beginning. When I check from my Control Panel - Power Option - Performance, I can see the battery is 100% charge after connecting it for a few minutes. (My battery is old already and can be used only for 20-30 minutes without connecting to AC power). Delivery is satisfyingly in time in a well- wrapped package.

This replacement cord worked perfectly in my Dell Inspiron 1501 for considerably less cost than other options. This product fits the computer just as well as the original part. I have been using it for a month and have had no issues.

Be careful. The item sent looked itentical to my original power supply. I used it for a while when I noticed the screen on my computer flashing. Later, the entire computer failed and an error appeared indicating the capacitors on my motherboard had failed. Upon further review, the power supply I was sent provided the 19.5 volts as required, but only 3.34 amps. The OEM power supply provided 19.5 volts with 4.62 amps. My computer was not powered as spec'd and ultimately suffered a catostrophic failure which took many hours to recover from. It ended up that my Dell 600M required a PM-10, not a PM-12 as indicated on the website.'

Computer Accessories - cooling, cpu coolers

Arctic Silver 5 is the best thermal compound on the market. There are other types that might be better for specific purposes (Arctic Céramique for example), but for cooling a CPU, this is the best. I've used it extensively for quite a few computer builds as well as a few 'special projects' like replacing the thermal compound on an Asus Formula X48 motherboard's Northbridge and Southbridge heatsinks.

The results are always a 4-10c drop in CPU temperatures under load. You will not notice a huge difference at idle. The real gains in heat dissipation come when the CPU is being pushed. Also, don't trust the board maker's proprietary software to tell you what your temperatures are; download a good program like RealTemp 2.41 or Everest for free (use google to find them). Either will give you more accurate numbers than Asus PC Probe, or whatever software your board manufacturer supplies.

There are some saying Arctic Silver 5 didn't lower their temperatures. That is almost certainly because they're using it incorrectly, which I can understand since the instructions provided are minimally useful. So for those of you who are not familiar with applying thermal paste, here is the process:

1. Remove the old thermal compound. This is accomplished by using Isopropyl alcohol to dissolve and loosen the old thermal paste. I recommend purchasing an ArctiClean kit. For minimal cost it will give you the compound remover, as well as an excellent surface preparer. Apply a several drops of the cleaner to the top of the chip and let it soak for 20-30 seconds. You might have to reapply more drops of cleaner again depending on how much thermal compound was present on the chip to begin with. Wipe all the waste off with a lintless cloth or cotton swabs.

2. Apply a surface cleaner. You can use more alcohol, or the surface preparer that comes in the arctic silver kit. Make sure there are no traces of the old compound: you can tell that the surface is perfectly clean when you can wipe it with a new q-tip and it comes away pure white.

3. Apply Arctic Silver 5. DO NOT USE TOO MUCH! If you do, it will squish outside the edge of the chip, get on your motherboard, the CPU locking mechanism, your hands, etc... It makes a real mess. Start with a small amount and add more if necessary. The idea here is to get a THIN, EVEN LAYER across the entire chip surface. A toothpick actually work's really well at spreading the paste around. You should not be able to see any part of the metal of the chip when you're done. Less is more in this instance; many people think they need to slather this stuff onto the chip, but trust me that does nothing but make a mess.

4. Install your heat sink and fan assembly. I recommend getting an aftermarket heat sink as those provided by Intel are notoriously poor. Zalman makes some great ones. Do NOT buy one that uses push pins to lock in place. You want one with screws and mounting bracket so that it is very securely attached to the motherboard and in turn, your CPU. This is probably equally important to applying the thermal compound correctly, because all the compound in the world won't help you if the heatsink isn't making solid contact with the chip's surface.

If you follow those steps, you will see a massive improvement in your core temps. Just remember that heat dissipation is achieved by the fans in your case and heatsinks, not the compound itelf. The compound simply allows for a much better transfer of heat from chip-->heatsink. I swear by Arctic Silver, and I promise you it works if you use it correctly. Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound

When i built my system i used the stock gel attached to my amd 64 heatsink.running at idle my computer recorded temps from 46-49 C and rising. At first i got a couple of case fans but still i had the same problem.According to amd these temps are normal but i heard of people with systems with much lower temps . i was afriad my system might shut down under heavy gaming. So i went out and bought AS 5 , i can tell you it is the best investment i made on my system. After removing my heatsink i removed the previous thermal gel compound and adding this , then i put my system back together and started up and .. Wow my idle temps dropped to 41 C and stayed there ,after playing half life for 15 minutes i found the temps only increased to 45 C.there is a break in period for the gel which is 200 hours, after that the gel is optimized and artic silver claims the temps will drop even more (4-12 C).It has solved my heat issue, for the cost under 10 dollars.I guess i don't need watercooling after all.Even if you arn't into gaming

this will protect your computer processor and help it run more effciently.

My cpu isn't frying, so I guess it's working.... I haven't noticed a significant drop in cpu temps like so many other people claim to have with this product. I have used this on at least 5 processors too. I've tried different methods of applying this stuff and re-seating the HSF, but I never can get results that many other people claim to get. - Thermal Paste - Cpu Grease - Cooling - Cpu Coolers'

2009 Amazon Frustration-fre - cyberpower ups, cyberpower

I live in a rural area on the top of a mountain. Electrical Service, unfortunately, is frequently interupted, usually for a few seconds only. But when it is, it can happen at very inconvenient times. Additionally, power surges, while not frequent, do happen, particularly during electrical storms. This means that my electronic equipment needs to be protected. I have 2 desktop computers in my home, both in constant use and both need a 24 hour internet connection.

I use a total of 3 Cyberpower UPS devices, along with additional Surge Protecters to protect my computers and other electronic appliances (including Televisions, DVRs, etc.). While neighbors have experienced major problems, the only problem I have experienced is a blown Surge Protecter (which obviously did it's job).

The model UPS shown has surge protection of (I believe)a bit over 1000 joules. This should usually be enough, but I use additional protection (rated 4200 joules) because of the location of my home. For most of you, the protection offered by this UPS will be sufficient. Cyberpower CP825LCD UPS - 825VA/450W LCD Display 8-Outlet RJ11/ Compact Design EMI/RFI

Totally satisfied with this, it replaced an older surge protector that was not a battery backup, so that is a plus.

A few days after I had it installed, the power to my house went out, and this worked great, it went on instantly and then when the power came back on, the UPS went back to normal. I purchased the 825Va, 450Watts, even though I only use less then 200 watts total, so that the battery would last a bit longer when the power goes off. This gives me over half an hour of back up power. It also protects my ethernet connection, and doesn't seem to make a defference in reception of my internet. I like the mode button on the front, I can push it and it tells me instantly what my watt usage is. For instance, right now, I am using 122 watts. This is for my computer, monitor, Uniden telephone, and my external hard drive (which is not on right now). These are all on the UPS side, which is the battery side.

Overall, I am pleased with it. I am thinking of purchasing a smaller one for my wireless phone in the kitchen.

I have only had this unit a short time and it has behaved as specified during three or more power failures. The setup is easy. My objective was to shut down a desktop computer within a few minutes and then continue to power a DSL modem and router that would be used by a laptop.

I chose this unit because:

- Capacity is pretty good

- Price is very competitive

- USB interface allows safe shutdown of attached PC

- Very cool LCD panel showing power load and minutes of charge remaining!

Note that 4 outlets have battery backup as well as surge protection, and 4 outlets provide surge protection only.

I have the following system hooked to the UPS on battery-backed outlets:

- Intel Core i7 920 CPU

- ATI Radeon HD 5770

- 25.5" ASUS LCD Monitor

- 19" Acer Monitor

- Wireless Router

The highest load number I could get (while playing a game) was 340 W. As I type this, I see about 235 W load.

This battery can keep the entire system running for probably 10-12 minutes. The wireless router by itself can be powered for about 70 minutes.

The bundled software is adequate. I highly recommend connecting your PC to the UPS via the supplied USB cable and configuring the CyberPower PowerPanel to shut down your PC in as little as one minute after power goes out.

The Cyberpower CP825LCD features an LCD status display as well as 825 VA protection the 8 outlets can mean that one doesn't have to append a plug strip or cheap surge-protector to handle one's personal computing needs. This is a rugged, dependable system that does everything I want. On my Mac there was essentially no setup. Simply bring up the UPS tab of the Energy Saver preference panel and the unit is discovered. I highly recommend this unit.

I am very pleased with the Cyberpower backup. Item is exactly as advertised. Simple to use. To test it, I unplugged the unit from the wall 3 times and the battery took over each time. I have no way to test the surge protection of course, nor would I want to.

The UPS was easy to unpack and setup. I did a quick battery test and everything worked as expected. It has been in use for over a week now without any incidents.

I'm also very happy with the spacing between outlets. Some of the "tower" UPS devices waste outlets due to different size transformers.

I had this item for couple weeks now and yesderday we had power down for 7 min. It worked great! Computer and wireless router worked great! It also has USB feed, when power is gone it beeps after every 5 seconds or so.Digital display light stayes on for 35 secons. Its great item for good value.Very compact and takes very little room. - Ups - Cyberpower Ups - Cyberpower - Battery Backup'

Storage Cases - dvd wallet, disk storage

This is a great holder for your CDs or DVDs. The size is right, it doesn't bulge when filled. The zipper does not bind either. The color is nice and so are the pages.

The only downsides are that the first and last couple pages are slightly bound when the case is full, and that the spine is a little stiff (doesn't open flat easily). These are minor problems and I would not let them dissuade you from buying this if you're looking for disc storage. Case Logic BNW-24 Polyester CD/DVD Wallet 24 Capacity (Black)

It isn't a hard shell case but easily sturdy enough to offer adequate protection to the CDs inserted. Any zippered case can potential scratch your CDs if you aren't paying attention when you insert CDs, even the most expensive cases, so the comment about the zipper possibly damaging the CDs was irrelevant. The sleeves hold CDs just fine.

If you want a CD case that hold up to 24 discs, zips shut so you can toss the case onto the car seat and jump in, then this case will work perfectly fine. Nothing in the case's construction suggests it will fall apart any sooner than any expensive case. It seems like a very good buy.

I own several Cage Logic camera cases and they never wear out, this CD case is no exception. Quality construction, 25 year warranty, easy-working zipper, there's nothing at all to hate about this case. I don't care that there is no place for a label, since I make my own CD labels. This fits the bill for my intentions, which is a small case to carry some CD's along with me in my car. It is a little larger in size than what I thought it would be, but that's OK, it still fits in my console. Also, the picture that is shown here shows a blue interior, it is black, not blue. I've seen this same case in local stores, the price here on Amazon is half what the stores charge for the same model case.

It holds my DVDs and CDs just fine. For the price its pretty good. Felt kind of cheap and flimsy at first but I see now it's pretty durable. I like it but if you have tons of CDs then I suggest you get one for more than just 48 CDs. Good luck!

Very nice storage wallet/zipper case for the money! Inexpensive, reliable, and necessary! Highly recommend this product! I have purchased these multiple times from same seller! A1 Product! You won't be disappointed!

This is the best CD/DVD case that I've owned personally. The construction is solid, it's easy to slip discs into (and out of) the envelopes, and the zipper closes the case tight to protect your discs. I own more than one of these cases, and if I ever need to store more CDs/DVDs - then I'll be buying another one. Awesome value for the money!

I love Books on CD and this has been the BEST thing I've done! I especially love the books on roadtrips and the ease of getting them out to play is wonderful!!!! As a storage unit...it's a WINNER!!!!!!!!

I store this case in my laptop bag whenever I travel, so that I can bring along my favorite collection of DVDs and Wii games. The 48 capacity might sound small compared to larger cases, but 48 is actually very generous if you're using this thing for traveling. It is a good trade-off between case size and capacity. If you just plan to store your entire CD/DVD collection in your bedroom or something like that, you might want to go up a size or two.

I have been very pleased with construction of the case; after several months of use, it has shown no signs of wearing down. The CDs are afforded good protection, and I never worry about them being damaged or falling out when I travel. It does not bulge or bend when completely filled. - Case Logic - Disk Storage - Cd Storage - Dvd Wallet'
