Slingbox Tuner - sling, placeshifting

I have been looking at Slingbox for awhile now but was afraid to purchase the first generation product for fear of a tough installation. I am a business travel who finally decided to purchase a Slingbox now that the second generation product has been released. To say the least, I am not disappointed. I have (regular) basic/expanded cable with a coax cable protruding from the wall and a WiFi DSL setup. Installation was easy EXCEPT I had a problem installing the software onto my laptop using their CD-Rom Disc (Which is why I give this product 4 stars instead of 5). The CD does not contain the software download, instead it guides your PC to obtain the download over the internet. My laptop would download up to 90% of the software and then hang. I ended up having to retreive the download directly from the Slingbox Website (no big deal). Once installed, the software automatically configured my router so I could use my slingbox from the outside (from the road anywhere there is a high-speed internet connection). The picture is pretty good when I use slingbox from within my house. On the road away from home, the picture is considerably more distorted. In order to get a better picture, I need to shrink my screen. I watch my local news on the road and plan to watch my local sport teams. I love this product and it helps me make the most of my cable which I pay too much for! If you are a non-techie like me, BUY IT! Do not be afraid of the installation, it was easy. Sling Media Slingbox Tuner ( SB220-100 )

I purchased the Slingbox so my wife could watch TV on her kitchen laptop (new Dell Inspiron) rather than buy a new Flat TV or an external PC tuner (and then run a cable). Product works well and as promised. Good, smooth picture quality across my wireless G. Easy to set up. I have not yet tried to view TV remotely, so I cannot comment on that.

Points of criticism:

1) It does not work well if you want to multi-task (i.e. watch TV while you do other tasks on the same PC) as it seems to be a resrouce hog. When I tried this I had synch problems between voice and audio. I did not try reducing the quality settings to rectify this (isn't a big deal to me).

2) The box runs HOT. The underside is not well enough raised from the resting surface. When I picked it up the other day, it was hard to handle it was so warm. I now have it sitting on a small, rasied wire cooling sheet for cookies and it seems to be much cooler.

3) You can't view on multiple PCs simultaneously. I understand that it has only one tuner, but it would seem feasible that two PCs could watch the same channel.

4) I think they should've added a coax input for the SlingBox AV like they have for the Slingbox Pro. I would've paid an extra few bucks for that. Not a huge deal for my situation, but it limits future options.

Please post a comment if you have any insight into the above cirtiques.

PS: If you have a Logitech DiNovo wireless keyboard, the cordless multimedia numeric pad works great as a remote control.

I bought the base version of Slingbox for about $100 to be able to watch US television in Europe. My friend set the Slingbox up on his cable TV system and router in Washington, DC. He said it was no problem to hook up on his end, just a couple cables and a log-in password. All he had to do for the TV signal was put a splitter on his TV cable like hooking up another TV, except the "other TV" is the Slingbox. He still has complete control over his TV set, and I have control over the Slingbox via my comptuer. In summary, the Slingbox was easy to set up and works exactly as advertised. I am a very satisfied customer.

I ordered this device based upon good reviews of the first model. Installation went fine and the device works almost as expected. The problem is that Slingmedia, without notifying customers or potential costomers has downgraded functionality.

The new devices (and the old models which incorporate new firmware) now utilize an encrypted stream. This breaks programs such as "At Large Recorder" which let me record my TV material for my review at a time of my choice.

Since I travel abroad a lot, I have a great need to be able to place and time shift. Sitting in a hotel in Tokyo at 6:00p.m., I'm not much interested in watching what is on in the US at 3:00a.m.!

I'd advise looking at other solutions. I think it is very irresponsible of Slingmedia to have introduced this dramatic reduction in function without telling customers they would be getting less than in the past!

I purchased the SlingBox Tuner last week to watch TV at work when I work late. It installed perfectly through my home network - a Netgear 16 port switch, but it did not work with the Internet feature for remote watching. I called tech support the next day and the courteous rep guided me a page where I agreed to their version of remote desktop control/management. He logged in to my older Netgear router which was connected to my switch, and he configured the Port forwarding properly. In 5 minutes it was done. He was patient enough to guide me through channel setup.

Other reviewers have discussed the great features, but I wanted to add how comfortable tech support works. After having it for a week at work, it's awesome. It seems to stay under 300k of bandwidth so we don't get in trouble with IT or being bandwidth hogs.

I was somewhat concerned that the SlingBox Tuner would not work in 2009 or whenever digital TV is coming for good. He mentioned that it was highly likely that SlingMedia would come out with an adapter so that the Tuner customers were not stranded. Still, for $99 on Amazon with no tax or shipping, I figure if it doesn't work after 2009, then it's still a good deal at $50 per year to watch TV remotely. If I do buy an updated HD / digital version of the new Sling Box in 2009, you know it will be better than the current versions too. Wall Plate - wall plate, home theater

I really like being able to buy two recessed cable plates and two low-voltage mounting brackets in a single kit form.

Overall, the product was easy to install and looks great. My only issue is with the metal mounting brackets. These brackets are secured in the wall by three bendable tabs that are designed to be tightened with sharply threaded drywall screws. The three-tab arrangement would be fine for other low-voltage applications such as A/V connections, TV cable jacks, etc., but for this application where cables are intended to move through the bracket, sliding behind the wall to another bracket, the sharp drywall screws threaten to shred the cables, making these brackets a poor match for the intended application.

There are plastic brackets available that have a moveable flap drawn toward to back of the wall with a small bolt that would not shred the cables in the finished installation, and I wish that the kit had come with these instead. Here's a link to brackets I would recommend instead (I have used the single-gang version of this bracket for a coaxial cable faceplate): Dual Gang Low Voltage Mounting Bracket

I ended up using the screws to tighten the metal brackets to the wall, removing the screws afterwards, but one of my thinner cables still got snagged on the metal tabs when I pulled it through.

Overall, I'm pleased with the look of the finished installation, but I would recommend buying the parts separately in order to get the plastic mounting brackets (even if it costs more). Datacomm 50-3332-WH-KIT Flat Panel TV Cable Organizer Kit (White)

I saw a video on the Datacomm website of a woman installing these. She explained it so well and in great detail, that I decided to purchase them. I'm glad I did. I looked at home improvement stores and they were a lot more since they sold them individually. They were even easier to install than I originally thought and they look great.

This is the best idea ever. It gives our wall a very clean look and will definitely help when we decide to sell the house in the future. I have been to many houses where the cables are just hanging or the owners try to hide it with on of those plastic wire tracks but having no trace of wires is the best look you can get. Sure, you can always just cut holes in the wall and shove the cables in without these plastic housings and it would have the same look, but it's ugly and unprofessional and can be problematic when you decide to sell your house.

Go check YouTube for the installation. The metal pieces that comes in the kit makes this very sturdy, when you screw the metal pieces in it actually tightens and holds onto the drywall, then the plastic piece connects to that so it is 100% secure.

Great and easy to install. Just watch out for whats behind your walls. I had to drill due to a floor/ceiling half way between the two outlets. If you have an open bay yours will be much easier. looks awesome. - Wall Plate - Home Theater'

Electrical - fellowes, surge protectors

I got this power strip to use with my media center, and it works pretty well.

Pros:

- Cheap and good quality.

- Dedicated ports for power bricks.

- Creative design saves a bit of space.

- Lengthy cord.

- Flat plug design.

Cons:

- The design of the plug means that it blocks the bottom wall outlet if you plug it into the top outlet. A right-angle plug would have been much better.

- The cord is stiff, making it difficult to position the surge protector.

- The creative design means that cables will cross over each other when you use all the outlets.

Overall, it's very good for the price, but if you're like me and you like to keep your cables neat, this surge protector can be a little tricky. Fellowes CRC99090 Mighty 8 Surge

I have been using this for my entertainmetn center for a few years and has performed as expected. The multiple angles allow for bulky transformers and cords coming from different angles but the end result is a tangled looking mess. Still it works and that is probably unavoidable. I always look for a flat plug so that is nice but the cord comes off straight down rather than to the side meaning it will block the outlet below. I just use the bottom plug so it is not an issue but it is something to consider if you have other constraints (plugs that are controlled by a light switch etc). this is a minor issue though. In all I have been happy with it...

I ordered that Fellowes 99090 to protect a new computer and the several peripherals that attach to it. Its most attractive features are the price, the compact form and the innovative design allowing for as many as eight plugs to attach to it. So far, I am happy with my purchase.

Here are the specs and features:

- 3 line protection

- right-angle plug

- 15-Amp circuit breaker

- 120V 60Hz

- Noise filtering 40-45dB

- Joule rating 1300

- UL 1449 Rating/Clamping Level 330

- 6 ft. chord

- Illuminated on/off switch

- LED surge indicator

- Up to 8 outlets

The warranty paper claims 'lifetime' for the item itself and up to $50,000 on connected equipment for 5 years.

The lifetime in 'lifetime warranty' promise is not the purchaser's life but the life of the product itself. To quote from the Fellowes warranty document, "the lifetime of the product is considered to be the time until the product naturally ceases to provide surge protection". In other words, there is a warranty on the product for as long as it works. To quote again, "when the LED fails to light, the product has performed its duty" and the lifetime warranty is no longer in effect.

As for the $50,000 connected equipment warranty, the paper enumerates 10 instances under which the warranty becomes null and void including "4. Fellowes determines that the equipment was not damaged by an Event or that no Event took place. 5. Fellowes determines that the Surge Protector was not properly installed, was tampered with, or was altered in any way."

To conclude, this is good value for the price but forget about the warranties. I am taking one star away for the warranty claims.

The layout of the outlets on the Mighty 8 are great for tight situations on stages. It can be tucked behind or in between equipment and it will still allow easy access to all eight outlets, even when power cords are routed in from many different angles. I had been using a Mighty 8 for over 5 years and it never failed me. That one is still going strong, but the warranty for the surge suppression expires after 5 years, so it was time for a new one. You should always replace your surge suppressors after that long anyway. This is great, durable product.

This is a well thought-out design for a power strip. I can fix 4-5 power adapters without wasting any other points. Good build quality and sturdy cord to the wall. The wall plug is 'bent' so that the thick wire runs parallel (instead of perpendicular) to the wall socket.

I love this design because it is compact, and allows for multiple power supplies to be plugged into it without interference. I also love the right angle plug because it allows you to position your computer desk or table close to a wall.

Finally a surge protector without wasted plugs. My straight power strips end up with half of their plugs covered by bulky or wide transformers. With this one I can use all available plugs, allowing me to use just one strip instead of two. The price is right too. I am impressed! - Fellowes - Surge Protection - Power Strip - Surge Protectors'

1-line Corded Phones

I'm amazed by the number of people these days who own nothing but cordless phones. Now, I like cordless phones; they're an indispensable part of modern life. But, unlike a simple phone like this Trimline, most cordless phones don't work when the electricity goes out. This phone requires no battery or AC power, and has a lighted keypad, and a ringer on/off switch--all of which make it a nice bedroom phone for emergencies. The sound quality is good, and the volume is adjustable. AT&T Corded Trimline Phone with 13-Number Memory (210)

I have two. I was pleased with the first one for a year and a half, but now the ringer works only when it is in the mood to. I have tried reprogramming it and double-checked that the ringer is switched on. Some days it just won't ring. The second one, I picked up a few weeks ago. It would be great if that one would allow me to dial the number nine, especially since the one number I want to be able to dial quickly from any phone is 9-1-1. I am not happy. Also, sometimes when it's on touchtone, it will only dial via pulse, so when I tried to do telephone banking, I had to run to another phone. No amount of toggling back and forth will get it to switch over to touchtone.

I was suspicious about the quality of this phone when I noticed the tricky marketing ploy: the phone has the AT&T logo - from the old American Telephone & Telegraph from which we could expect better quality, but AT & T has licensed its logo out to "Advanced American Telephones." These "American" telephones are made in China likely under the sorts of working conditions that would explain the shoddiness. I miss the days of quality manufacturing.

BTW, when I went to request a return number from DynaDirect (the company that ships this product), I was not pleased that the form that needed to be filled out was not a secure form. It asked for way too much personal info not to be an https site. I can't return the phone since after a week I threw out the box only to then discover that I had not yet dialed a number that contained a nine in it.

I recently bought this phone after several two more expensive models failed; his telephone by AT&T and Lucent works better than the other phones I bought when I had to get a new phone for my home. The construction of this telephone reflects great engineering; and it's very, very reliable for a price that's very inexpensive these days for a phone. Yes, it is corded; but when all you really need is a basic phone this really does the job. Besides, the fact that this is corded means you'll never misplace the cordless handset!

The phone has back lit buttons which are desirable for those of us who are elderly or in any way sight impaired. The buttons could be brighter but the back lighting does improve upon no lighting. The phone offers well known features including "last number redial," too. The phone has a mute feature, adjustable ringer volume and more. These functions never disappoint me. It also has a small knob that lets you switch between touch tone and pulse (rotary) dialing. I use touch tone dialing as most people do. I am particularly impressed that a phone in this price range even has a twelve number memory feature for speed dialing. Cool! However, as another reviewer correctly notes, when you program the phone to remember frequently dialed numbers, you need to actually dial the number--so hang up fast if you don't intend to speak with that person at just that moment! I don't care for that so I will take off one star for this.

If you want to take a nap without the phone ringing, just turn the ringer off by using the knob at the base of the phone. That's an incredibly useful feature!

I highly recommend this telephone for people who merely want a basic, inexpensive phone that still has a few "frills" to like including memory speed dialing and mute. The extra features give you all you truly need to make this a well constructed telephone at a rather inexpensive price. Sure, the back lighting for the buttons on the phone could be brighter; but overall this is still quite a good phone for the price. The phone takes up little space and it can even be wall mounted to completely save counter space in a kitchen or any other room.

I bought this phone as it seems to suit my needs: an inexpensive, basic corded phone. However, problems emerged as soon as I opened the box.

The cord attached to the phone is permanant! It cannot be removed. My phone needs to be about 12 feet from the nearest wall jack, so I bought a longer cord, since the cord that comes with the phone is only seven feet in length. However, to my surprise, the cord that is attached to the base is permanantly affixed to the phone. It does not plug into the base of the phone for easy removal like all other phones I have owned. I had to buy an adapter to go with my long cord and plug the seven foot cord into the adapter and then plug my long cord into the other side of the adapter.

The phone has three ring volume settings. However, the button to adjust the ring tone volume is easy to press by accident. I have accidently turned the ringer off many time without realizing it.

The volume on the phone's speakers is terrible. In order to hear on the phone at all, I have to turn the volume up to the third setting. Then I am only able to barely hear the person I am speaking to.

This is a CHEAP phone, both in price and quality. Do not buy this phone, you will be disappointed. I would not want this phone if it were free. I don't mean to be so negative, but I hope others do not waste their money like I did on this phone.'

American Weigh - american weigh, coffee

I recently purchased this scale and I completely love it. First off, let me say that I was very hesitant about buying this based on the "Two thumbs down" guy's review. I said heck with it and bought it anyways because it was exactly what I was looking for and in my price range. However, right out of the box I had the same problems. Scale was all over the map, sometimes even going negative. I scoured the manual for troubleshooting tips but to no avail.

Finally it dawned on me and sure enough, there were two pieces of cardboard in between the scale and the base for shipping purposes. I removed those and the scale works perfectly. Another thing is that the manufacturers website says there must be a 1g minimum in order to weigh. This isn't true. It weighs from .1g up with no problems.

It really is a beautiful scale. Very accurate, I reweighed several objects and they were dead nuts. The weighing platform is 4"x4". It's not the least bit chintzy and in fact has a very pleasant display. Moreover it comes with a hard plastic case that double as weighing trays!

I recently purchased this scale to help me in my coin and precious metal collecting. The scale is small and easy to use, while it is not the most accurate scale in the world it is accurate to 0.1 gram which is more than accurate enough for my use.

ONE MAJOR COMMENT TO ANYONE BUYING THIS SCALE, AS NOTED IN OTHER REVIEWS, THIS SCALE COMES WITH 2 PIECES OF PACKING CARDBOARD THAT IS WEDGED BETWEEN THE SCALE PLATE AND THE BODY OF THE SCALE. IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THESE THE SCALE WILL GIVE MAJOR MISS-READS. THE CARDBOARD PIECES ARE ALMOST UN-NOTICEABLE UNLESS YOU LOOK FOR THEM. THERE IS NO MENTION OF THESES PIECES OF CARDBOARD IN THE LITERATURE THAT COMES WITH THE SCALE.

All in all I like this scale and it suits my needs at an affordable price. I'm Pleased!

So far so good. I'm happy with the product though I've had it for but a single day. I am curious about the battery life but I'll see about that later as time goes by.

It works as is advertised. I placed a calibration weight on it and that was at 200g. I did a 100g and the 200g and that too was accurate. The trick is to keep it on a stable surface and to keep other electronic devices away from it at the same time.

There was/is a crack in the smaller of the two trays that come with it. (I've decided that the bottom case portion is to be used as a tray.) I didn't mind that much at all and it doesn't impact the accuracy or efficacy of the product either way.

good scale, auto shutoff (in about 60 seconds) makes it nearly unuseable. If you have to weigh multiple items precisely, like mixing paints, which is what I bought it for. You need everything out and open and ready to go and hopefully you can get it done in time... annoying.

I bought three of these scales for use in a coffee and espresso lab. The oldest of the three is still going strong, even though it has had water splashed on it, and has been in continuous use for two years now.

A new trend in coffee and espresso preparation is weighing everything - your whole beans, your ground coffee, your water, even the shot of espresso you're brewing. Weighing gives a much more accurate measurement than visual ml/oz viewing in a measuring cup or shot glass. This is especially true with espresso, given that crema can be large in volume, thus screwing up a visual measurement of the amount of liquid brewed.

This scale fits the bill, by virtue of the 2kg max weight while still resolving to 0.1g. It's not without its problems, but the price earns it 4 stars from me.

The large weight allowance allows you to put portafilters on it (then tare them out, and weigh the amount of ground coffee in the portafilter). It even allows you to brew a big 8 or 10 cup press pot right on the scale, accurately measuring the water used in grams instead of in mls (1g water = 1ml water).

The display is easy to read; blue with black letters that are readable from most normally used angles.

The tray is wide enough to hold most items I use on it, from press pots to cupping cups; it's a bit small for portafilters, but you can balance them on the scale.

TAREing the scale is very quick; startup is a bit slower, but not bad.

The price is fantastic, and earns an extra star from me just on that basis. If it were $35 or more, it would only get three stars.

Very accurate. I have some calibrated weights and it was bang on, right out of the box.

What's preventing this from being five stars?

- time out is too short. It's 60 seconds, but honestly, that needs to be longer, or at least user-adjustable.

- I had to put non-slip rubber bumpers on the bottom of it - otherwise it slid around too much

- there is a bit of a delay when you add or subtract items from the scale - it's not instant (takes about half a second sometimes to update)

Overall a great scale at the price. Could be better, but there's nothing else currently available that matches it features vs. price. - Espresso - Pocket Scale - Coffee - Accurate - American Weigh - Boy Scouts'

Tool - Woodworking - flashlight, tool - dewalt

i have a ryobi flashlight that needed a new bulb & the replacement bulb is the dewalt one (that's what home depot told me).

but i was turned away when i saw the bulbs are $8/pair...i thought what a rip off...so i went online & i saw makita had an 18v bulb (p/n A90261) that was similar to the dewalt. and the best part is it's $3.50/pair & i found at a website w/ a $0.01 shipping...couldn't beat that. i got the bulbs last night & it fits in my ryobi flashlight w/ out a problem. whaooo whoooo!!! DEWALT DW9083 18-Volt Flashlight Replacement Bulb, 2 Bulbs

The previous reviewer said that these are the same as Sears - they are not! The Sears ones are made by Dorcy and do not have the same shock tolerance as the dewalt bulbs. I know - I was suckered into the Sears bulbs and killed all of them (4) where I normally can go a long time with the Dewalt. They regularly tolerate shocks from the flashlight tipping. The sears ones blow everytime! Maybe I got a bad batch, but Ill never buy the Sears ones again!

Even though these are DeWalt light bulbs, I have successfully used them to replace Ryobi and Sears 18v light bulbs that come in the handheld lights you get in the rechargeable toolkits. If you drop a lamp, the bulb will tend to go (although they take a decent amount of punishment beforehand). I highly recommend keeping a few on hand. They are very bright and can fill a room with light.

I purchased these for a Black & Decker 18 Volt flashlight. I accidentally dropped the flashlight onto a hard tile floor and the original bulb broke. These replacement bulbs were a perfect fit! They last a very long time (unless you drop them!!!).

for those of you that own the DEWALT DW919 18V Cordless Flexible Floodlight with a dead bulb and looking for replacement try this first... just unscrew the flashlight lens and look right inside the rim... BINGO!... their should be an extra backup bulb right inside the flashlight... I found this out the hard way after buying the replacement pack... but if you've already killed both bulbs then buy the 2-Pack here while you can... these are kinda hard to find... and they probably won't last... these work great so go nutz!

This bulb was not as bright as the original Ryobi bulb that came with the flashlight.

I ended up buying the LED bulb for 20$. The LED makes similar amount of light as this bulb (so, the LED is not as bright as the original either), but extends the battery life to 6 times as much as before!

Bought these a while back and got the two-pack for about 8 bucks. I have both a DeWalt 18v and a Ryobi 18v flashlight. Both take the same bulb, and these DeWalt xenon bulbs are bright and hold up pretty well to shock and vibration (I've dropped both lights more than once and the bulbs -- as well as both of the flashlights -- can take a reasonably good beating). But recently I've found the same bulb (looks like same manufacturer, too) branded under the Craftsman name at both Sears and OSH (for those of you in California) selling for $1.49 each. Lots easier to find one there when you need it in a hurry.

It costs about 80 cents to ship these anywhere in the states via postal service, yet RFBDirect seems to have a flat rate of $7. They must be Lunar based. Also, these are garbage bulbs anyway. For the price of a Dewalt tool, you would think they could make a better bulb! - Flashlight - Dewalt - Light Bulbs - Tool - Dewalt'

Usb Hub - usb, usb hub

A 10 port USB hub might be the "Holy Grail" of tools to connect multiple USB devices.

As others have commented, however, the device feels cheaply made.

USB cables do not seat fully.

Most importantly, assess your power/charging needs before purchasing.

Many reviewers comment on the ability/inability of their USB devices to charge while plugged into various USB hubs. Some of this may be traced to the power supply for the hub. My personal experience is that, depending on the USB hub I'm using, if I'm trying to run a USB cooling fan, charge my iPhone and Blackberry at the same time (while other USB devices are attached), I will get an error message stating power is inadequate, or one of my devices simply won't charge.

Almost all (all?) USB hubs are powered by devices whose DC output is 5V. Most manufacturers do no list on their web site how many amps are provided by the power adapter. The amps can vary widely. On this 10 hub port, the output is 5V at .5A. I have other hubs that cover a range, with some having 4 ports at 3.6A.

So, if you may have the need to attach multiple devices at once, without much need for charging or powering the USB device, this 10 port hub may do the trick. If you travel, and are looking for something to connect and/or charge multiple devices at once, (bluetooth earpiece, Blackberry, iPhone, camera, etc....) USB hubs with low amps may mean only 1 device will charge at a time, while others may not even connect. This can be very frustrating.

It is also important to note the iPads will not charge with a random USB hub, nor will they charge connect directly to a computer. A special power adapter is required to charge the iPad. This is an iPad issue, not a USB hub issue.

It would be helpful if other reviewers would comment on the amps provided by the powered USB hubs they review, and if others could verify this observation.

Any other input by someone who knows/understands the power circuitry would be appreciated, as these are observations only by using various hubs in a trial and error fashion. For example, can one take a power adapter with an output of 5V 3.6 A and safely use this with another hub whose original power adapter has a lower amp rating? Black New 10 Ports USB HUB 2.0 High Speed with Power Adapter

This is one of the first 10 port hubs I have seen for this low of a price. And let me tell you, it is totally

worth it, ESPECIALLY since it is a powered hub. While the cord for the power adapter may seem short, I believe

its just designed to go from the floor straight to your desk, at least that's how it worked out for me.

There's enough power to charge my phone (HD7), and run two of my external hard-drives. Speed is great,

there seems to be no noticeable difference between using the hub and the built in ports of my laptop (Envy 17).

Overall - Highly recommended, especially for the price.

I really liked the number of ports and compact design on this USB hub, but the construction is a bit sub-par. USB devices do not plug all the way into the sockets, leaving room for the USB plugs to wiggle about and loose connection. I ended up using gaffer's tape to hold each USP plug in place so my devices don't disconnect.

I purchased one of these because I kept running out of ports. Best decision I ever made. I'm going to purchase more for other uses as I continue to add peripheral devices to my systems. You simply can't go wrong with this style/brand. I've tried several others but find this specific product to be the best there is.

I got mine last night, took it out of the plain white box, and got pretty much what I was expecting. I'm certainly not impressed with it so far, out of the box I had to adjust the silver decal on the top, it was humped over in the middle. The USB ports themselves seem somewhat wobbly, I'll just be careful with that, but the most important thing is that:

THE POWERCORD IT COMES WITH IS NOT THE POWERCORD IN THE PICTURE.

Also THE POWERCORD IS COMPLETELY UNLABELED

I don't have a multimeter so I can't check what the output actually is, so I have no clue what the capacity of this device is. If it's the same as the one in the picture I'm fine, if it's the .5A stated in other reviews I'm going to try and replace it. So far I have four devices plugged in, but they're all low power, a tablet, a trackball mouse, a pair of Razer Megalodon headphones, and a webcam, and it doesn't seem to be causing any problems, lights are lighting, cursers are moving, sound is... sounding...

So far it's doing everything I've asked it to. Ok so I just now plugged in my Samsung Intercept android phone and everything kept happening, not sure if it's actually charging, that's going to take a while and I don't have the time today, but the phone recognises the power source, didn't give me any errors, and has mounted onto my computer, no instability thus far.

One thing I thought was nice is that it does actually have slots on the back for mounting it with screws, it just doesn't come with screws, not that I'll have trouble finding some.

Overall I'd say I'm getting more than I payed for, but still I only payed like eight bucks. I hope this company releases a 20$ version, with sturdier construction and explicitly with a high capacity power brick. I'd buy it; but I'd probably buy another one of these if I needed it too. Despite the issues, I like it, just handle with care. - Usb - Usb Hub'

Dell Laptop Battery - dell battery, e1505

I bought this battery to replace the one in my Dell E1505. It arrived very, very fast. This seller actually cares about his customer and wants very much to make you happy.

The original battery that came with my Dell only lasted about 3 hours before it would go dead, then it died completely after 14 months. This battery fit my computer perfectly and I charged it exactly as the instructions that came with it said to do and I am happy to say that I am getting over 4 hours of life out it, which is even better than the original. Dell wanted almost $200 dollars for this replacement battery. I was very satisfied with the price that I paid for it with this seller. An amazingly low price and such great results.

I highly recommend this seller and this battery. I have no complaints at all.

Thanks! 11.10V,6600Mah,Li-Ion, Replacement Laptop Battery For Dell Inspiron 1501, Inspiron 6400, Inspiron E1505, Latitude 131L, Vostro 1000,

This battery arrived within 2 days of me ordering it, which is amazing. My old battery was the original that came with my Dell Inspiron 1501, and it had been pretty much shot for a while now. Even at its best, however, it only gave me 2 and half to 3 hours of power at full charge, on the Balanced power setting. With this battery on Balanced, I'm getting about 4 hours. Even on High Performance, I get 2 hours or so. I'm very satisfied with this battery, and the price can't be beat. Dell can take their ridiculous prices for replacement batteries and shove it where the sun don't shine. It is slightly heavier than the old battery, but unless you have the muscular strength of a wet noodle, it shouldn't be a problem.

I bought 2 dell replacement batteries recently. One for my own system and this battery for my wifes inspiron 6400. The one for my system gives me 1 hour of charge which is sufficient for my needs. I didn't expect this one to give any more but it performs as well or better than its original dell battery. We've only had it for a month or so but it gives 3 hours of charge reliably. We charged it up fully overnight as soon as we received it. I've since run the laptop several times for up to 3 hours without plugging it in and it works fine. It frequently runs netflix with volume on full so I've been surprised to reliably get the full 3 hours. If it works this well for 6 months and gives me a 1 hour charge for another 6 I will consider it a good purchase and would buy this one again.

It is indistinguishable from the original battery as far as the latpop is concerned. I've only given it 4 stars because we haven't had it long enough and durability is probably the most important thing.

A note re battery meter: The power meter in windows displays erratic and inaccurate results for the battery. With the battery fully charged it will show only 60% or so charged. After an hour of un-plugged in use it may show something like 27% and stay that way for the next 1 1/2 hours. I haven't looked at it recently so it may have settled down. I've yet to see the mystical art of battery charge assessment mastered by any device so I consider this irrelevant to a potential purchase.

I wanted to replace the (virtually dead) battery in my Dell Inspiron 1501, but couldn'e see paying nearly $100 for a computer I always use at home (arguably, because the battery is dead!). Anyway, I'm cheap and fairly suspicious of bargains, but positive reviews for this item conviced me to take a chance. I am really happy with it. First, it fits the computer just fine (there were some complaints that this was not the case for other Dell models), and the battery seems to work as it should. I get about 3-4 h of life from the battery, and have learned that laptops can be a little more convenient if you don't have to be tethered to the wall socket. Who knew? Anyway, I cannot speak for the durability of this battery, but I have used it for about 5 weeks with no degradation in performance. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a replacement battery for the 1501.

Needed a new battery for my Inspiron E1505. I bought one at a local store for $80 that would charge but not power the laptop at all, and this isn't the first time I've had trouble with batteries. This one arrived quickly, charged right up and I seem to get about 3 hours of use depending on what I'm doing. I'll probably have to replace this one in a year or so, but batteries just don't last long so that's reasonable. Dell wants $180 for it's own battery that is VERY poorly reviewed on the Dell website. Dell does offer a one-year replacement warranty, but for the price I can buy four of this one. I'm going to order another one just to have on hand. You can find batteries for less money, but the price and performance on this battery makes it well worth it.

I have noticed there are a lot of 1 star reviews from people who have a Dell Inspiron 1505 laptop, explaining how this battery does not work for them. I too have a Dell Inspiron E1505, (bought in the Summer of 2006) but this battery worked for me! My computer recognized it right away, charged it immediately, and the battery continues to work well. The battery life is great, I get about 3 hours no problem. My old battery had completely failed about 2 years after I got my laptop.I was running on AC power for 2 years before I got fed up and started shopping for a cheap(er) battery than Dell sells. I'm not sure as to why this works for some 1505's and not for others.

My only suggestion is to try it out, and if it doesn't work, just return it. (There is a good return policy with this seller, and they are backed by Amazon) That's exactly what my plan was except the battery has been working wonderfully! I'm sorry it didn't work for some of you. Good luck! - Dell Battery - Dell Inspiron - E1505 - Laptop Battery'

Dvd Recording - dvd, cheap

Quick Summary: Burns at 2.4x or 4x on Plextor 716A burner; Verbatim DVD+R DL burned with the Plextor 716A is PLAYABLE in EVERY DVD Player (at least 20 and counting) I have tried!!! Awesome.

Full article:

I recently used the Verbatim DVD+R DL media to back up a couple of my most popular DVD's. The original was 8.1GB in size and contained about 50 music videos. I couldn't get it to squeeze down to fit on a single layer disc. Verbatim DVD+R DL to the rescue!

Using my new Plextor PX-716A burner (an excellent DVD Burner!), I used the included PlexTools program to make a copy of my DVD. Note, the original DVD is not protected in any way.

I burned the DVD+R DL at 4x speed (approx. 28 min. to burn). There is a selection in the Plextor's software to "overwrite" the book type of the DVD+R DL so that it looks like a pressed dual-layer DVD to settop DVD players (to avoid a confusing older DVD players). I used this setting (it is by default) to burn the DVD.

When it comes to DVD burning, there is no better test than the compatiblilty and quality test of the burned disc. The test is simple, put the burned DVD in as many players as you can and see how many can and cannot read it. Well, I have to say that I have tested this DVD+R DL in over 20 DVD players so far, and ALL have played it with NO COMPATIBILITY issues whatsoever. This finding is as good as or better than all DVD+R and DVD-R (single layer) I have ever used.

After having read all the reviews on the web about how incompatible burned DVD+R DL discs are, I have to say, the Plextor 716A and Verbatim DVD+R DL combination blows everything else away.

Yes, the discs are kinda expensive, but if you have valuable or irreplaceable DVDs to back up, they will work for you. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Just a couple quick notes:

1. To ensure compatibility among all DVD-Players, be sure you set your recording software to finalize all DVD+/-R's with the DVD-Rom booktype. If you do not, older DVD players may have trouble recognizing the DVD's. The Plextor drives have a setting (via Plextools) that will allow you to force them to always finalize with the DVD-Rom booktype!

2. I have burned about 200 of these Verbatim DVD+R DL discs successfully and have used no other brand. I refuse to even try another brand. There have been only 2 out of all of them I had problems with. First one I put an adhesive label on, and the label warped the DVD. When I tried to "flatten" it, the DVD cracked center-to-edge and I had to toss it. Second disc had a few read errors on it near the layer switch. The bonding on that disc appeared to be a bit weak near the center, as some of the dye was inconsistent there. Go figure as to why the problem was at the layer break at the outer edge of the DVD. Verbatim 95014 8.5 GB 2.4x-6x Double Layer Recordable Disc DVD+R DL, 3-Disc Jewel Cases

I am burning these discs on a Lite-On LH-20A1S and a Sony DRU-810A, and they work flawlessly. Maybe it's the fact that they are on Sony's compatible list for the drive or that they are quality discs, I don't know. But what I do know is that the picture quality that I got from my copy was PERFECT. NO PIXELATION, NO DROPPED FRAMES, and NO PAUSES. A perfect burn.

I ran the Verbatim discs through DVDInfo Pro and it came back with write speeds of 2.4, 4.0, and 8.0 (see picture.) The box mine came in says "up to 6x speed," so you MIGHT be able to push it to 8x with a high speed drive.

For everyday, general consumer use you should find that these discs will give you a high quality, dependable burn. Some may ask if they are archival quality, and I have to say that my guess is 'no.' Unless the disc specifically says "archival quality" then I would assume that they are standard discs (which have been found to deteriorate over time.

I highly recommend these discs for your approved DVD+R DL burner. (Remember to check the media compatibility of your drive BEFORE you purchase these discs or any other disc! See your drive manufacturer's website for details.)

Verbatim DL used to be by far the best DL media available. Reliable, stable in storage, and consistent high quality made by Mitsubishi in their Singapore plant, one of the highest quality DVD production plants in the world.

Not any more. Verbatim has outsourced a large part of their DL production to a plant in India, and now when you buy this media you have a high chance of getting made in India - this product is poor, often with obvious physical defects in the media like bubbles, holes and foil delaminates.

It is possible to still find made in Singapore cakeboxes on store shelves, but if you can't actually read the disk label before buying you are rolling the dice when you buy.

It is a real shame Verbatim does not offer the Singapore product as a diferent grade. It would be worth a few extra bucks to get a cakebox that had a 95% success rate vs. the 50% rate the made in India product gives.

Verbatim has really gotten a black eye in my book with this stunt. - Dvd - Cheap - Dual Layer - Dual Layer Dvd'

Portable Speakers - desktop speakers, altec lansing

For under $20, amazing sound. I read the many reviews here before buying, and a few people complained of low volume, not enough adjustability, static and/or distortion. I just hooked mine up and am blown away by how good these sound. Listening to chamber music at good volume, the strings and piano come through with nice clear treble and mid-range, and with more bass than I would have expected from speakers the size of soda cans. I don't have any of the problems that some reviewers mentioned. Even at full volume, which is considerable, there is almost no distortion. No, they may not be "audiophile" quality, but if you're an audiophile, why are you buying $20 speakers? For the rest of us non-audiophiles who just want decent sound, you can't beat these with a stick. I'm going to buy a few more for Christmas giving. Altec Lansing BXR1220 2.0 Speaker System

I'm a small/travel speaker nut of sorts owning many systems from the only available in China Edifier systems, to small disc speakers, to the Bose MusicMonitors. My current travel speaker of choice is the Bose MusicMonitor which is overpriced at the retail of $400 but it is the best small speakers bar none.

However, these deserve 5 stars for two simple reasons.

1. They are by far, the best of the breed for USB powered speakers. There're no batteries or AC adapter required. It is absolutely UNFAIR to rate these speakers in comparison to other AC powered speakers since they are in different categories. I ran it off at full volume off my tiny 2 lbs laptop on battery power. Nothing else is quite like it terms of sound quality and volume.

Music is quite listenable, though not high fidelity. (Even the Bose MusicMonitor at $400 are not high fidelity.)

2. They are $20. Even AC powered $20 speakers would be hard pressed to be a whole lot better.

Other than the slightly large size, these are perfect laptop presentation speakers - more than adequate to fill a small room for a dozen people

Given what they are, definitely deserve 5 stars.

These inexpensive speakers have really impressed me, and I think they're a great buy for anyone who's not a sound expert and is just looking for a set of nice speakers. I'm using these with my MacBook, running on Snow Leopard (OS 10.6).

THE GOOD

-- Installation is easy. Plug and play; took only a few seconds on my Mac.

-- Sound is clear and crisp. Music sounds rich when played. Speech is clear when playing movies. No complaints here.

-- Design is sleek and modern compared to boxy speaker sets.

-- Don't take up too much space

-- Speakers seem well-made and durable.

THE MEDIOCRE

-- Not a big fan of the volume control dial. Seems like it's hard to find the perfect setting using the speaker's control. Instead, I put the speakers on max and manually tweak my computer's sound settings depending on if I'm listening to music/watching a movie, etc.

-- For me, the USB power is actually a negative. The speakers occupy one of only two USB ports on my MacBook, which means I have to use a USB hub sometimes just for the speakers.

-- The red light that let's you know the speakers are on is INSANELY bright, which bothered my eyes, which in turn made me cover the light with black electrical tape.

-- The "Power On" dial is at the back of the speaker, which is kind of inconvenient.

For the price I can't complain much, though. Overall, I'm very pleased with these speakers.

I bought these speakers because I wanted mini laptop speakers that were powered by a USB connection. Well these babies cost me 15 bucks so I figured they would be OK. When I hooked them up I was blown away by the quality of the sound. The highs are very impressive and the bass of course does not rattle the room but it does put out a full sound that makes these speakers a no-brainer if you want mini speakers. They are not the smallest of the pack but the reason is that Altec Lansing maxed the bass by making the box in the shape of a Bazooka type sub-woofer and even has port holes on the back, this design was very well thought out. I covered the holes on the back to compare the sound and it was a very noticeable difference. The only con i see is that they are to big to carry in your PC case but if you can deal with that I highly recommend them, especially for the price.

These speakers are just amazing.I hooked them up to my HP Pavillion desktop in less than 2 minutes. I wanted to test them so I logged onto my netflix and put on a movie. All I can say is "WOW" Do not let their size deceive you, for little speskers they pack a BIG punch. My wife was in our bedroom watching TV she ask me to turn the volume down and that's about 30 feet away for our desktop. Very stylish & unique design. Well worth the cost and them some. These were perfect for me. I have a very good 23" monitor, It would be a great monitor, but has weak speakers. I'm not a Gamer & I don't listen to music, but I watch movies, utube & all the news stations. This was a perfect solution. Thanks Altec Lansing for a beautifully design product. - Laptop Speakers - Altec Lansing - Desktop Speakers - Computer Speakers'

Stereo Headphones - rca, audio

This is our second set of these headphones and we have been very happy with the quality. At this price we expected some minor "issues" but they have performed well. My husband has hearing loss as does a friend. The two guys each put on a set of the headphones and they run off a single base (you can't charge while using headphones though!). When you first turn them on ... you hear hiss but once you have sound coming through it disappears. These have very good range as well. I have a split level home and we can go up a set of stairs and to the opposite far end of the house (even behind a closed door) and the sound comes through! They hold a charge very nicely but when they go ... they go with a pop and that is it. I love to use them late at night to watch our big screen without bothering those sleeping in the house. RCA WHP141 900MHZ Wireless Stereo Headphones

The quality of the stereo signal is excellent. However, depending on the input source, you must sometimes make sure that you have the sound source set to a VERY HIGH volume (or the "hiss" that others have mentioned will be more pronounced).

The "hiss" that is experienced with this headset can be described as a kind of windy sound that's added to the transmitted sound. It kind of sits far in the background of all other sounds. It doesn't distort the signal, it's just very distracting at times. It's an indication that the input signal isn't at high enough of a volume.

An example of input sources;

Connecting to my PC required me to adjust the PC sound output to a VERY high level.

Connecting directly to the RCA outputs on my DVD player delivered excellent sound.

I also purchased the Acoustic Research AW722 headphones as a comparison. There is less of an issue with "hiss" with the AW722, but the RCA headphones are more comfortable AND in my opinion deliver more of a FULL stereo sound (when configured correctly). Also, the AW722 has the WORST battery recharging method I have ever seen (induction). They stopped recharging properly within one day of owning them, meaning that you will have to resort to charging the batteries using an external charger.

An interesting note; The AW722 headphones (Acoustic Research) will work with the RCA transmitter (because the headphones can be manually tuned). Tuning the AR headphones to the RCA transmitter did not exhibit ANY hiss, which leads me to believe that the "hiss" on the RCA headphones is caused by the receiver in the headset. If you already own the AR headphones, you might find it usefull to know that you can still use them with the RCA transmitter (at the same time as the RCA headset if you wish).

There are certainly better wireless headphones out there, but if you get a good price on these (in the $10-$20 range), you'll probably find them to be fairly decent.

JM

In reading the reviews, I'm thinking some people do not understand how to use them correctly. When I set mine up, you have to have the sound input set very high. This will cut down on the hiss you hear considerably. Also, there is a power saving feature that will cut off the connection when no sound is being inputted into the base station. This is by design, and takes a little getting used to. Once I understood all this, I discovered they work really well.

The only thing I do not like is when the unit is in power save mode, and the headphones are on, you will hear a pop type hiss every so often. This is caused by the units attempting to make a connection though the base is in power saving mode. No biggy, but it is something that could have been better engineered. I have a different brand of wireless headphones that do not do this, but they do not have the power save feature.

I typically hate writing Amazon reviews, but I'll make an exception here.

First, to be fair, the sound quality and comfort is pretty good. There is minimal/no hiss if you know how to set up a sound output device properly (higher input sound, then use the potentiometer on the headphones to adjust the volume), which is not apparent unless you've played around with stuff like this before. Second, the person who complained about not getting the battery compartment open is functionally retarded; you twist in the same direction as the arrow that says "Open."

Anyway, here's why this goes 2 stars:

1. The headphones I received were clearly refurbished. This was evident by the minor scratches around the earpieces. Not really a big deal to me most of the time, but this should be explicitly and honestly advertised. Also, the typos in the tech. details should be fixed on this page.

2. Occasionally, the popping is infuriating. At short or long range, during DVDs or streamed content, at high or low volume, you will get brutally awful popping (at least I do). I suspect that this is the result of intermittent connection drop outs, and it's been really random so far. Sometimes it'll happen five times in a minute, other times it'll happen once an hour. This pushed me to the brink of returning them, but some improvement, the fact that I only use them when people are sleeping, and the general annoyance of returning online purchases made me stick with them. - Headphones - Rca - Audio - Cordless Headphones'

Small But Useful - multitool, keychain

I got this product for my boyfriends father for christmas and he absolutely loved it! He has it on his keychain and everytime we need to open something or unscrew something he pulls it out. This is a man that has every tool imaginable. So if he likes it it must be good! Swiss+Tech UKTBS Utili-Key KeyChain Tool with Bottle Opener, Knife, Screwdriver, Metal Gift Box

I owned one of these for several months. When they're new, they're a little difficult to open. The hinge will loosen substantially after the key has been opened and closed many times.

The fact that it's so small and feels like just another key on your keychain is great, but it also makes it hard to use it for any one of its six functions. I mostly used it as a bottle opener, but only as a last resort -- the opener is so thin and small that it takes several prying motions around the cap to finally get it off, and you can easily cut yourself in the process. Similarly, its use as a knife and screwdriver is really impeded by its small size.

Back on the subject of the hinge loosening, one day I took my keys out of my pocket and the Utili-Key just wasn't there anymore. I never did find it, and I don't plan on replacing it. I would not recommend this product to anyone as it offers little practical use.

I owned a few multi-tools in my life. I had the compact Swiss army knife, Leatherman micra, and other Asian made models with similar functions. I have to say - THIS IS THE BEST COMPACT MULTI-TOOL on the market. Why? First of all, it is extremely small. Most other compact tools require you to attach them to your keychain, regardless of their design, they will always get in the way of your keys, your car remote .. etc. This thing IS A KEY on your keychain. It coexists with other keys, does not takes up space in your jeans. I work warehouse, and this tool is always a life saver. Opening boxes, cut tapes, bundles, industrial shrink wrap ... I mean I use almost everyday for 6 month, and it is still just as sharp. What else do you want from a $10 tool?

If you want a minimalistic compact multi-tool, this is the one you want. Highly recommended!

If you're finding that your keyring is just a growing mass of metal, yet you want to carry a pocket knife, this is just the item for you. The Utili-key helps me to open packages and tighten odd screws here and there. It's true that you must be careful not to cut yourself when opening the tool, but once you get the hang of it, it's not an issue any more. My only problem is that it's SO small and unintrusive I sometimes forget I have it when I need a knife!

This is a great thing to have on your keyring; it's profile is truly no bigger than most keys. I've had not trouble opening and closing it despite other reviewers. Makes a great gift for the person who has everything. Not sure however if this would get by airport security; I don't think it passes the TSA requirements--I mean it's very unlikely the screener would even notice it, but if they do, you're gonna have to just throw it away right there at the checkpoint, so leave it at home when you travel by air.

handy little device. use it one time and it pays for itself. save the day, be a hero. you always at least have your keys, so you'll always have this. it looks so much like a key i'd be worried it could slip by TSA. when travelling be sure to leave this at home or risk it getting confiscated. well designed and quite useful.

I have carried one of these for years. I find it very useful and because it is on my keyring to be very convenient. I gave out a half dozen of these at Christmas time and every recipient marveled at their usefulness.

In my job I go between a wide variety of businesses. Sometimes I'm doing face-to-face consulting with upper management. Other times I'm working installing computer hardware on a shipping doc.

I used to cary some basic tools and a pocket-knife or two with me. However with people being so security conscious this has become prohibitive. Too many places wouldn't even let me in the door if I had "anything that could possibly be a weapon". My Leatherman multi-tool got me turned away more than once.

This tool however folds nicely onto a keychain and is inconspicuous. When I need it, it's always there!

Saw edge, straight blade, flat-driver, Phillips driver and can clip around small wires for extra weight. Only part I haven't used is the bottle-cap opener. - Gifts For Men - Small But Useful - Multitool - Keychain'

Remote Control - remote control, ipod shuffle

What job? To get rid of those awful and poor sound Apple factory headphones and to control either your iPod shuffle (latest version) or the iPod touch.

I just used them on a 5 hour flight, they were great since I could use my noise cancelling headphones.

The adapter looks well made, nice color (black), but the only thing that I did not rate it 5 stars is because you may get confused when turning up or down the volume with the center click, so you may get "pausing" your music instead of changing the volume. An another thing, since they're black, you will have a little of a hard time guessing if you're going to push the up or down volume button.

But I love this adapter for sure. iLuv iEA15BLK iPod Remote with Third-party Headphones Adapter for VoiceOver (Black)

Great idea, but flawed design. The insulation on the cable closest to the input plug cracked in less that a couple of weeks exposing the copper and rendering the device useless. This part of the adapter tends to bend frequently and there is not sufficient insulation on the cable to prevent cracking. I can not recommend this device with its current design.

Sadly, Amazon does not allow 0 star reviews.

Just received this adapter and it's DOA.

No matter what I tried, I couldn't get sound through any headphones I connected.

I read all those reviews about the crappy manufacturing, and chose to ignore them. "Hey, it's just a cable", I thought.

Wrong. This cable looks like it cost 3 cents to put together and you get what you pay for.

Will get my money back from Amazon, but will have to use the standard Apple headphones ("crappy" seems to be the theme for this post) for my upcoming trip.

Stay away.

I read a lot of reviews about this product before I bought it. I thought I'd try it anyway. It works just fine. Like all electronics it needs to be handled carefully.

The problem is Apple's stupid headphones and control design, This at least give you the freedom to use other headsets, plug it into speakers or your car radio and still control the playlists and volume.

I paid $15.00 for it, I see Amazon now is selling it 1/2 price. If your looking for a fix to Apple's dumbest product idea of the century, this is it.

The design of this product is great.

However, the volume buttons on my remote stopped working after less than two weeks. There was no rough handling at all. The remote stayed connected to my iPod which stayed in my car the entire time.

And this P.O.S. couldn't deliver. Took it out of the box, plugged it in and... nothing. Didn't work whatsoever. I read the reviews before I purchased it and knew some people had issues, but didn't think it could be THAT bad. Well, false. Take heed: this product will either NOT last or NOT work from the start.

I bought this item because the headphone controller on the last iLuv product (in black) wore out in less than six months. It was a necessity to control my iPod nano, and was relatively inexpensive, but expect to replace this unit every six months or so after heavy use.

Bottom line: This unit gets the job done, but isn't very durable.

This iPod remote is a good idea: a control for your iPod touch that frees one from the awful earbuds that are included with the iPod. The design is actually quite good: it has a center button that controls the playing, advances, and backs up a track. Flanking it are volume up and down buttons. It is very easy to use by touch, and I have very big fingers and hands.

The problem is that the build quality is awful. I had it for less than a week and the plug broke. Not bent, not chipped, broke. As in snapped off. I don't treat my toys badly: I stuck the iPod in a large cargo pocket on my pants, all by itself, and that's it.

At least it was cheap.

I give two stars because for the 6 days it worked, it was terrific.

I'm in the U.K. and can't readily get hold of this item, so I purchased 3 of these from another source in the U.S.A. and to me they were a bargain.

Tested all 3 sets straight after delivery and they all work spot-on with my 64Gb Ipod Touch

The cable is short but long enough for sitting in a shirt pocket or at the side of the bed and controlling the Ipod, which is all I really wanted it to do.

Had read somewhere that the unit has a microphone and could therefore be used in conjunction with the Voice Command functionality of the 3G Ipod Touch. It doesn't appear to have a microphone but controls everything else as expected.

Agreed, manufacturing quality isn't fantastic but i'm not complaining as I think they'll stand up to daily use fairly well.

Would Recommend. - Remote Control - Ipod Shuffle - Remote - Ipod'
