Band Saw

This bandsaw is identical to the most recent Sears Craftsman 10" bandsaw. The only difference is the Rikon paint job which is probably worth $50, however Craftsman had this same model on sale for well under $200 recently. The price is also higher here because of "free" shipping. For the most part this is a well made machine; however there are a few issues.

One, the upper blade guide twists out of square when the locking wingnut is tightened. This may be solved with some disassembly and workshop engineering, but most folks would not be able to do this.

Two, the bearing guides do not allow adjustment for a 1/8" blade, although you can put a 1/8" blade on. The rear roller guide bearing doesn't come far enough forward, resulting in the outer bearings riding on the teeth and premature blade dulling. This alone almost defeats the purpose of having a small 10" benchtop bandsaw. Possibly more engineering might fix this.

Three, don't expect the table to be square to the blade or the machine either. Made in China means square, flat and true are not important.

Lastly, this will not re-saw anything larger than 4-5/8", meaning 2x6's are out, let alone the power is inadequate.

With a 3/16" blade or larger this is a good amateur hobby bandsaw. The sole reason I purchased this was to cut out a large number of pinewood derby cars for Cub Scouts, which it did very well, much quicker and easier than a scroll saw. For the cost vs. limitations, it is a good value, and because I have young boys it will be in use for years to come. Rikon 10-305 Bandsaw With Fence, 10-Inch'

Blu-ray Player - video games, playstation 3

I purchased a refurbished PS3 on EBay because I wanted the 60gB model that is no longer being produced. I'd never purchased an extended warranty before, but decided to do so because it was a refurb. I am SO glad I did!

Unfortunately, the product failed about 5 months after purchase - it stopped reading games. This was a personal tragedy for my 11 year old, who LOVES his PS3. I contacted Square Trade and received an immediate answer, suggesting I first try a firmware update at home. When that didn't work, I emailed back and received a reply that a postage prepaid box wss being shipped to my home. I shipped the defective unit to their repair center and received a repaired unit in a couple of weeks. I received emails from Square Trade when the item was received, repaired, and shipped back, and I could check the status on their web site at any time as well.

The process could not have been any easier or more efficient. It was a huge relief for me to know that my expensive purchase was not going to become a doorstop (or incur huge repair costs elsewhere.) I would HIGHLY recommend this company for warranty service, especially if you are purchasing a refubished item. It's so rare to find really good customer service these days - I can't say enough about how pleased I am! SquareTrade 3-Year Electronics Warranty ($250-300 Items)

I can't say enough about square trade warranties, but can tell you it's great that you can buy them direct on amazon.com now instead of having to go to thier website after your purchase. A couple of years ago I bought a warranty from square trade on an ebay item I purchased and 5 months later It broke. I called square trade and they told me to send it back, they paid postage, and quickly sent me a check for the full amount I paid. No questions asked. And no hassles. Folks you realy can't beat them when it comes to service. This last Christmas I bought a new 46" flat panel tv, hidef dvd recorder, and cordless phones. And I bought the warranties from square trade without batting an eye. Three year warranties where a third of what my friends paid for thiers at best buy, circuit city, ultimate, and Amercas... Amazon.co and square trade, best of both worlds!

I Highly recommend purchasing a warranty from Square Trade! I had purchased an xbox 360 off ebay and had it about 2 mths until I started having problems with it when I contacted square trade the represenative was very nice and helpful. He emailed me a pre-paid postage stamp and I sent the xbox 360 and it only took a couple of days before they sent sent me the money to my paypal account...They are excellent!!! I will absolutely recommend Square Trade!!!

Absolutely a no brainer here. My HP Printer died on day 364 of the 1 year HP Manufacturer warranty. I fought w/HP throughout process, and they stated that my Warranty had expired 75 days prior--impossible, as I had the Amazon receipt to prove it. Tech could not fix it, and said it would be 7-14 days before someone could get back to me to inquire/fix the warranty issue. Of course, it would have been at least another week once I got the repair set up and complete. I called SquareTrade, who held an extended Warranty on the priner, and in less than 5 minutes, the rep told me he would make the claim and approve it once he got my receipt. I sent the receipt, received an affadavit to sign, and 3 days later...a new Amazon Gift Card Plus 5%. 5 days later I am still waiting for HP to call me, and I'll have my new printer next week--and purchased another SqT warranty!!!

I've bought multiple Square Trade warranties over the past few years. I've had to make claims on two items. One was for an mp3 player several years ago: it was malfunctioning so I mailed it in, couldn't be fixed, so I received a check refunding the full purchase price within days! My second experience with a claim was just last week when I dropped my iPhone in the toilet...fortunately I had purchased a SquareTrade warranty as Apple does not cover water damage. I filed a claim, received a package in the mail for me to send my phone in for repair (they covered all shipping charges--class act), and today it was UPS'ed back to me in perfect working condition. Voila! Why they're the best:

*SquareTrade always has the best prices on warranties.

*I love that you can purchase warranties through them regardless of where you bought the item.

*They interact in the most professional manner.

*They always make good on honoring claims.

I've had such excellent experiences with SquareTrade, that I will continue to buy ALL future warranties through them.

Getting a Square Trade Warranty was the best decision I made. I bought my son an xbox system on ebay and it broke about 10 months later. SquareTrade sent me a postage-paid label and I sent back the broken xbox. They sent me a refund directly to my paypal account within a week. No hassles, no worries. They e-mail you every step of the way with where you are in your return, i.e., they let you know when your package is picked up by UPS, they let you know when the package was received, they let you know the item is being looked at, they let you know that the refund is on it's way to you. I would definitely recommend a Square Trade Warranty. - Blu-ray Player - Extended Warranty - Video Games - Playstation 3'

Highly Recommend - wood puzzle, puzzles

I have a 28 month old grandson. I wanted some new toys for him to play with at my house. I wanted something that would challenge him. He has several other things that I have seen him progress with skills while playing with them. I thought this one would be the same. First, he would learn to remove the pieces and eventually progress to putting the pieces back in. He came over and I got this puzzle out. It started out the way I thought it would. He figured out that he needed to put the magnet on the metal spots, which he did. As he took them out, we talked about the picture on the piece. He wasn't ready to replace the pieces, which was okay. That could come later. What I was not anticipating, but probably should have, was him draping the string around his neck. Talk about choking hazard. We stopped that activity and then he started waving the pole back and forth. We managed to take it away from him before he hit himself or someone else with the magnet on the end. The puzzle is now in the closet and we will wait until he is closer to or past 3 before getting it out again. I want to challenge him, but not at the risk of injuring him. Melissa & Doug Deluxe 10-Piece Magnetic Fishing Game

The kids love using the magnet fishing pole and discussing their "catch". The only problem I have encountered is how much the 3 yr old loves to twirl the fishing pole causing much potential for disaster.

My 1 1/2 year old son loved this toy at a friend's house. I enjoyed helping him work on it as well. But when I ordered this newer version with more cartoon-like fish we are both disappointed. I think the fish and sea creatures look silly, and I can no longer name them. I definitely prefer the more realistic looking sea creatures on the older version and my son seemed more attracted to them as well.

Also with this newer version the puzzle pieces are more difficult to put back because it isn't immediately clear which way is up. I'm sure when he is older it will be easier for him. (I realize he is younger than the recommended age).

He does still enjoy "fishing" out the pieces. It's still a good toy, but we are going back to the older version.

I bought this for my almost-2 year old niece. She and her 4 year old sister both enjoy playing with it and, according to my sister, it provides some welcome QUIET play time (so many toys lately come complete with loud, electronic NOISE).

Recommended!

My son is 18 months old. His grandparents got this puzzle for him about two months ago. I thought he wouldn't understand how to do it, since the age recommendation was 3 years and up, and you have to have pretty good fine motor skills and control to swing and hold the fishing pole magnetic just right over the pieces in order to pick them up.

After about a week, he was a pro with it, picking up the pieces patiently. I was impressed and started teaching him the names of the sea creatures. So now I will tell him, "Pick up the squid," and he'll 'fish' it out and give it to me. He will do that correctly for each animal I name. He also tries to say "Octopus" "Jellyfish" "Dolphin" "Whale" and "SHARK!" (that one is yelled).

He loves this toy and it is teaching him patience and fine motor skills. It is well made and not noisy!! We love it.

My nine month old thought that this was the best thing ever! Magnet on fishing rod easily grabs the pieces, making it great fun and not overly challenging. Only complaint is that he chewed the pieces and some of the coating easily came off. Overall, lots of fun for hours. A must have!

I got this for my daugther and although she likes it I was a little disappointed. I know its a fishing game but it is also a puzzle and unlike the other Melissa and Doug puzzles (which I love)this game does not have a picture underneath the puzzle piece which is a bit tricky for my little one plus its not so colourful as it is just the wood underneath. Another point is it would be nice if the fishing rod attached to the puzzle to store it and then I would not have to go looking for it before we can play it again.

I know that it's meant for older children, but I let him play with it under supervision and he loves it. Even at 16 months, he was able to recognize the turtle specifically and only fish it out. It's a great, very sturdy toy, with lots of bright colors. I was initally concerned about the magnet in the fishing pole, but it's made really well and we've had no problems. Great toy!

I bought this product for my daubghter when she was about 18 months old. She is now almost 3 and still loves this toy. I origionally bought it because she has always loved fishing with Daddy and its such a simple toy for a younger toddler to figure out. The sea ceatures she can "catch" with the magnetic "fishing pole" come out easy and they are very easy to put back in. They are large enough so they wont fit in her younger brothers mouth. The string on the fishing pole is short enough so that when she gets a little too excited and flings it around, it wont usually whack her in the head. When we first got the toy, we had to help her fish and then we would put the creatures back in their puzzle homes. Now she has mastered the art of fishing with her pole and can put them all back where they belong. She can even tell us what each creature is now. The only reason I couldnt give this product 5 starts is because I think it should have some sot of way to attach the fishing pole to the puzzle board so it wont get lost.

My son is 21 months and he loves this puzzle. I just roll up the string around the rod and make a knot so that he cannot put it around his neck. Making the string shorter also makes it easier for him to control the rod. He loves this puzzle. We play with it at least every day. He is learning to identify the creatures and is happy when he gets the piece that I ask for. It is a great puzzle to have. - Puzzles - Wood Puzzle - Fine Motor Skills - Wooden Toy'

Hewlett Packard - wireless, multifunction printer

I purchased this HP C6380 printer a few days ago (not from amazon). The printer arrived yesterday afternoon and I hooked it up immediately. The setup of the printer was as easy as it could be. I bought this to use wirelessly so the setup involved configuring the WIFI.

Unboxing the printer was easy. Take all the blue tape off each compartment, remove the cardboard shipping supports and then load the ink. The printer uses 5 different ink cartridges but they all sit securely in the "trolly" which makes it easy to load. Once you get the ink put in the trolly you plug the printer in and open the compartment so the ink mount will move over and you seat the trolly in place and push down to lock it into place. Then you load paper and the printer goes a little wild for the next 4-6 minutes while it aligns itself and cleans the cartridges.

Once the alignment is done you are ready to hook the printer up. I can't talk about using USB as I am strictly using it for WIFI purposes. To setup WIFI all you do is select your network from the list that is detected, then enter your password and you are done!

Now you install the software. On my mac it had an issue and kept having crashes when I tried to use the scanner function. I uninstalled the software and downloaded the latest version from HP's website and reinstalled it. After doing that I followed the instructions to add my printer which took about 30 seconds and was ready to go!

The first test I did was printing. I printed a word document and it started printing almost immediately and took about 4 seconds for the page. I then printed a picture using the photo tray and was able to print a border-less 4X6 picture and that took about 8 seconds and the quality was amazing. Finally I scanned wirelessly. My last scanner was very old and took about 2 minutes to scan a picture. This scanner took less then 4 seconds to scan and transfer the picture to my computer wirelessly!!!

I am genuinely thrilled about this all in one printer/scanner/copier. It is fast, great quality and the fact it is wirelessly allows me to use it from my Mac and my wife to use it from her Windows laptop without connecting any cables. If you need a great quality printer I highly recommend this one.

Oh and one more thing I forgot to mention, this printer has pre-defined templates built in which is perfect for homes with students. The templates include graph paper, lined notebook style paper, large paper for the younger kids to write on, tasks to do list, mazes and many others. They really thought of everything in this printer. HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One Printer

After reading the reviews, this seemed like the perfect unit for me. Received it as a present last week and ran thru the setup. Took only a few minutes, and I was impressed by how easily the printer setup was organized and how easily I was able to enter my wireless router information (it detected my network; I entered the WEP password; it immediately said "great" and everything looked good to go). Instructions and quick start were very well documented and the coordination between the printer screen prompts and the written documentation was also very well done.

It printed the alignment/printer setup test page no problem. Then it was going to print the "wireless confirmation page". The printer lights showed a clean connection to the wiresless network.

However, within five seconds, the screen went blank and then blue and it gave me an error of B057D1D4 (no other words/errors on the screen) and jammed up completely. I unplugged it (all the switches and buttons on the panel were dead) and got error B05Cf1E0.

Installed again after a hardware reset and was able to install and print perfectly using a USB cable.

So, must be something in the wireless firmware or an issue with my 2WIRE wireless DSL router and the printer.

Called HP. After spending two hours on the phone with very polite, helpful folks they determined that they had no idea. We tried every reset known and I even did the full install process again with a tech support person on the phone after doing a hardware reset.

Word to the wise: Tech support can only send you a refurb unit, but since I had had the thing for 3 hours, I declined and called regular sales support for a new unit.

The new unit came amazingly quickly (I dropped on my broken one on the 24th and the new one arrived today the 26th morning).

Just ran thru the install and same as before. All is simple and good. But then the same errors.

Called HP support.

No clues.

Only option now is to return the printer. They won't send a second replacement unit, unfortunately.

Anyone know if there is a problem (I can't find one and HP doesn't know of any) with 2WIRE routers, maybe? Or maybe there is a bad batch of these things with a firmware fault? I'm tempted to go buy one from a local retailer in the hopes that it is a batch of defectives since after looking around I still think this printer would be ideal for me if it actually worked.

Blue screen of death on a printer. Who knew?

[30 minute pause]

I just got a call back from an HP escalations manager. She proceeded to quiz me about how it wasn't possible that I had the replacement printer sitting in front of me -- and asked me which department and who made it happen. I have no idea. I just dial 800 numbers until someone helps. She insisted to me that the 800 number I had called wasn't an HP line. Of course, I sit here with a replacement HP printer at my feet, so I must have found the HP printer elves in Santa's workshop. Her advice in the end was to take the refund since that was even more than she was authorized to provide, so she wanted to know who broke the rules by providing good customer support. (And why that wouldn't be in the records she has access to, I do not know...)

Sigh.

I have faith given my experience with HP, but they haven't made it easy this week.

Assuming I can get a working printer, I will edit this review and raise the ranking, but two defective printers that HP can't even diagnose is just not impressive. I expected more given my flawless history with HP printers.

This is my first rant review. And I fully hope that I am able to edit or delete or upgrade it, but for now my advice is to go ahead and buy this printer if it fits your profile. If it works, great -- it looks like a fantastic printer. If it doesn't, return it immediately and save yourself a nightmare; it ain't worth it for a printer.

I switched to the Brother MFC-490. Worked perfectly out of the box, including wireless set up without any fatal hardware errors (so it isn't my router). Also, smaller footprint, automatic doument feeder, and very well done wireless integration... AND CHEAPER by a significant amount. - Multifunction Printer - Printer - Hp - Wireless'

Tv Mounts - easy, flat panel wall mount

My wife and I decided to mount our 32" Vizio tv on the wall instead of utilizing an entertainment center. I will admit, I was a little intimidated with the prospect of mounting a semi-expensive TV on my wall. I had a flashback to a time when I mounted a lighting fixture on an apartment wall only to hear it fall in the middle of the night, scaring the bah-jeebuz out of us.

I looked through mounts ranging in price from $20 to $200 and decided to go with the one that included a stud finder in the box, the Amazon Basics Articulating Universal TV Wall Mount.

I ordered it with Prime and received it quickly. The box was heavy, but frustration free, as advertised. Upon opening the box, I noticed several bags including screws, brackets, and of course, the stud finder. I took out all the pieces and started reading the directions (to be honest, the type-face on the instructions is kind of small). As I looked through the instructions, I found them fairly easy to navigate and understand.

Here is the one knock, and it is not against the mount at all, but against myself. If you have a house built in the 1920's, you probably have thatch walls covered in plaster, this renders the stud finder useless. Live and learn. I did test the stud finder on a traditional wall in our finished basement and it worked fine.

The mount is easy to assemble and easy to attache to the wall, once you find the studs. You only need to drill four holes and insert the provided wall anchors, mount the backing plate with the built-in level, and then tighten down the screws. After that, attache the bracket to the back of your TV (this may require adding the supplied extension arms). After that, slide the bracket onto the piece you attached to the wall. There is a cable guide in the back which works well for running your power cord and other AV cables down your wall.

You will have a multitude of screws and washers left over when you are done. Since the mount is universal, you ca save those in case you decide to use the mount for a different TV later on.

The entire installation took me 20 minutes. If I could sum it up in one word, it would be easy. I firmly believe anyone who has ever hung anything on a wall (picture, shelf, cork board, whatever) can install this product and feel good about it. AmazonBasics Articulating Universal TV Wall Mount fits 10" - 40" (25cm - 101cm) Flat Panel Displays - up to 80 lb (36.2 kg) capacity - Black [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging]

I looked around, read tons of reviews and decided upon this wall mount. It was a great decision. The mount is incredibally sturdy, it has several swivel points, that lock into place, as well as a tilt feature. You can adjust your tv to pretty much any position and it'll stay securely in place. Seriously, you could probably just about do pull ups on this thing, it's that solid, so, it'll easily hold your tv. The mount has a built in level, so, if you can read and operate a hand drill and screw driver, installation is a breeze. This was a great buy, I'm sure that you'll agree.

I was a bit leery about purchasing the wall mount,as I have never purchased Amazon Basics products before. I am so happy that I did. The instructions are easy and the entire process took about 30-45 minutes, but the mount is VERY secure and sturdy. I am glad that I paid a bit more for the wall mount rather than purchasing a piece of junk. If you want a wall mount that is sturdy and will secure your TV to the wall, then look no further. My TV is a 32" LCD that weighs about 30 lbs. It holds it perfectly and the different options for tilting, swiveling are perfect. The mount that goes on the back would really fit any TV universally, it comes with so many options/bolts of all sizes and even extenders. Once again, all very sturdy hardware. The only thing that is not built well is the stud finder that comes with it. For $39.99 I was not expecting a $20 stud finder by any means, but I do recommend that you have your own just to insure that you secure the mount to an actual stud. Additionally, a power drill is a necessity as the bolts to secure the wall mount are rather large (once again a good thing).

We bought two of these mounts for a 22 inch and 32 inch TV. One TV is a thin led LCD while the other is a CCFL LCD. As any Amazon Frustration Free Packaging everything was easily accessible. The mounting material felt extremely solid and the wire management system is a hook where you wire all your cables through so they look like one big cable instead of 4 small cables. Installing the mount was the only minor annoyance, not because it was difficult to put together, but because the font on the instructions is tiny even though the instructions were very precise. Amazon should post a PDF version of the instructions online for easy access viewing, or just make the instructions bigger. When you put the mount together you will probably not use the 4 extenders seen in the picture. When buying a mount always check your TV's manual to find out the VESA compatibility. Even though this is a universal mount it will make your life easier if you just check the VESA compatibilities of your TV to ensure a smooth installation.

The stud finder is the cheapest part of the set, but the entire package for [...] is a steal. Please note to check that the stud finder will most like NOT work on lath and plaster walls which can make finding studs extremely hard. Also some plaster walls may not have studs. A good way to double check the stud finder is to find a stud first than move the stud finder 16 inches to the right or left. If the stud finder detects another stud than it is accurate because studs are suppose to be placed 16 inches apart from the center of the stud in houses. When mounting the TV make sure the bubble meter is between the two center lines to make sure you mounted the TV straight.

Once installed you loosen the top knob to tilt the TV a max of 15 degrees. Tightening the top knob tits the the TV back to its normal position. Overall the mount is well worth its price range. If I ever have to mount another TV, I will buy this mount again. If you have any questions or comments feel free to ask. - Tv Mount - Flat Panel Wall Mount - Easy - Lcd Wall Mount'

Lens Accessories - 52mm, photography

I bought this filter for my Canon 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens. The price was right, and I thought it would be a good way to protect the lens, which this probably does well. And while I am shooting under normal lighting conditions (flash or natural) the filter stays out of the way, but as soon as the lights go down this filter will ruin more photos than I can bear, due to an abundance reflective artifacts. If you take a photo of Christmas lights for example you will see the lights again in a faint green glow on the opposite side of the photo... VERY ANNOYING. Tiffen 52mm UV Protection Filter

This UV filter does it job to protect the lens well. The build is solid (metal construction). The glass is also descent quality.

About the performance, it absorbs some UV light. The UV light absorbtion is hardly noticeable, probably the sky 1-A and the haze filter version will absorb more UV light than this lens which is fine for me.

Now, about the one problem which is the internal reflection. I've heard many people say that it mostly happens during night or low light shooting. I found out that it is not caused directly by the low light/night situation. The internal reflection will appear when there is a strong/bright source of light in comparison to the overall exposure (the surrounding environment). To put it in example (which hopefully is easier to understand), when you take a picture of a lamp during nightime and the light is much brighter than the surrounding area then you will see the internal reflection. as you move the position of the light to be closer to the sides/corner of the picture (and not in the center of the picture), the internal reflection reduces and finally dissapear (if you move the light far enough from the center). And if the light isn't too bright/contrast compare to the surrounding environment then there will be no internal reflection. but of course most of the time, a lamp at nightime is often very bright. But the point that I'm trying to make is that the internal reflection doesn't happen all the time during low light or night time.

Additionally, the internal reflection isn't only happening at night. it can also happen in the afternoon if you are taking a picture of a sun for example. basically same rule as above, on how bright is the light source compared to the surrounding area, and as you move the sun from the center of the photo and near the side the internal reflection will move to the side/dissapear (also depending the angle). But the best way is just to remove the filter during these situations.

Hope this explanation helps you to reduce the occurence of internal reflection by identifying correctly when the internal reflection will occur and then remove the filter during those situation (which is not hard to do).

I'm actually not a fan of lens filter (any filter) as I think it will only degrade picture quality as we added another layer between the sensor and object, but I decided to use them anyway for all my lens. And I would recommend everyone to get one of this filter if you don't have any filter for your lens yet.

I use this filter on my 50mm f/1.8D lens and on my 18-55mm lens.

I got this filter before I understood the difference between cheap filters and ones that actually work well. I was getting such great results with my new 50mm f/1.8 lens during the day, but at night i was getting a lot of ghosting and flaring in my pictures. It took me a while to realize it was because of the filter. After doing some online research, I decided to remove the filter, and my pictures were all suddenly better with that lens. The glass was affecting my picture quality!

The glass used is cheap, and not very good quality, so it can actually degrade your pictures. It works well to protect the glass on the lens from scratches or dust, but it's a much better idea to pay $20 more and get a good filter that will actually help you get better pictures. If you don't want to pay the extra for a decent filter, you might be better off just leaving the filter off. I reccomend Hoya Pro1 and B&W filters; and in the 52mm size, the price is very reasonable. Once you start buying nicer lenses that require 77mm filters, that's where the good filters really start adding up. But again, you aren't going to want to put a cheap filter on a $1000 lens.

I know this review might sound negative, but if it helps someone capture a memory better because they decided to get a little nicer filter, it will be worth it.

Amazon lumps together ALL the Tiffen filter reviews. So unless you specify which specific filter you are reviewing, no one will know! This makes all those reviews that say something like, "this filter made my pictures too dark/light/red/green/whatever" totally useless.

Amazon tends to lump together similar products (like all or many cameras from one manufacturer), so in general it is a good idea to specify the product you are reviewing in your Amazon reviews. - Tiffen - 52mm - Lens Filter - Photography'

Personal Coffee Maker - coffee, single cup coffee maker

I love coffee. And, I'm kind of an elitist when it comes to coffee. I can only use really good beans-- right now I'm using Lavazza, but my every day coffee is starbucks brand. The problem is, I cannot produce a good POT of coffee for the life of me. I don't know why. I use filtered water. I clean out the carafe. My regular every day machine has a water filter. I don't know why my pots of coffee are horrid compared to my husband's pots of coffee, which taste as if they came from the local coffeehouse/espresso bar.

So, after getting a free senseo (YUCK!), and giving it to a friend, I bought this little coffee maker. IT makes a really good cup of coffee I have not messed up even one time. And, I use it 5-10 times per day. It is just excellent. I've been looking at the higher priced one cup makers, such as the Tassimo, but I'm not sure I need it. With freshly ground good beans, this little coffee maker does the job.

This coffee maker, by the way, makes a hot cup of coffee-- definitely as hot as every full-size coffeemaker I've ever had. I'm wondering if the other reviewer just got a machine that didn't work too well. Or, maybe he just likes it from boiled water. Whatever the case, if you're used to drinking coffee made from regular drip machines, this one is fine.

I've had this coffeemaker for at least two months now, and I literally use it 5 to 10 times per day. I keep expecting it to break, because it's definitely not made expensively, but it keeps going. I think it's a great choice for someone like me or someone in an office.

This comes with a durable reusable gold-colored metal filter.

I have had this product in my office at work for a little over a month, and so far, so good. The ceramic cup is very easy to clean, and the size of the machine itself is just perfect for my desk. The only "issue" I have with it is that it gets just a little noisy near end of the brewing. Otherwise, its perfect.

I bought this to save counter space and make just one cup of coffee at a time. It works well and the coffee is hot enough. To make sure after reading some reviews about the temperature, I rinsed the mug in hot water first to make it warm before using. The only problem which is slight is the small amount of splashing when it's dripping into the mug. It really should have a cover with a small hole in it to prevent this. I take a narrow piece of aluminum foil and just scrunch it around the upper part of the mug and no spills. I recommend this product as a good product for the price.

There is a trick to making hot coffee with this appliance. Leave the spout swung to the side (not over the filter) until the water is boiling hot, then carefully swing it over the filter. You will have boiling hot coffee!

Works fine, coffee is hot and good, no problem there. What I can't believe is that it does NOT shut off automatically when done brewing. I'm not sure what would happen if someone forgot about it for a few minutes. This is NOT SAFE at all and I will have to buy another unit, basically useless.

I bought this item because I was always brewing more coffee than I needed and wasting. This is an excellent single cup space saving coffee maker. Mine came with a mug AND measuring scoop, as well as reusable filter so it was ready to use when I pulled it out of the box. Wish I had known about these when I was traveling! GREAT PRODUCT !!

It is a one cup coffee maker and does just that. Nothing fancy. It is rather slow and splashes a little if you use a regular size coffe cup. I do think that it makes quite a good cup of joe though. Probably about the best bang for your buck if this is all you need. I am satisfied with it.

It worked fine for the first few months, then the brew began to leak a little from the bottom while brewing. Today the leak became a flood. At the rate of $5 a month to use this coffee maker, it is NOT a bargain. - Coffee - Personal Coffee Maker - One Cup - Coffee Maker - Single Cup Coffee Maker - Reusable Filter'

1600mhz - memory, 8gb

I used this RAM on a build with an AsRock p67p4 Extreme and an ASUS Sabertooth P67 motherboard. On both builds, the RAM worked very well and ran with stability at 1866Mhz with the stock 1.5v. I did not test any higher frequency as the performance gains were minimal(even from 1600 to 1866). This is nice RAM however beware on some motherboards the fins can be obstructed by some of the larger CPU coolers- yet most will work perfectly.

If you have any questions I might be able to answer for you, leave a comment and I will respond ASAP. Corsair Vengeance 8 GB ( 2 x 4 GB ) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) 240-Pin DDR3 Memory Kit for Intel Core i3, i5, i7 and AMD Platforms SDRAM CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9

Works flawlessly on a ASUS P8P67 B3 Sandy Bridge mobo. Given some memory problems w/ DIMMS that are rated higher than 1.5v, these installed and worked as expected. What more can you ask for? Sandy Bridge mobos are picky when it comes to RAM - these work and are recommended by Corsair.

I put this ram in the blue slots of my p8p67 pro motherboard. Works great!!! I had to adjust the frequency from 1333 to 1600. I also changed the voltage to 1.5. My old pc had 2 gigs corsair ddr2 800. Going from 2 gigs to 8 gigs ddr3 was huge. I couldn't be happier with my purchase, I highly recommend this memory.

Besides being good looking. This RAM Memory performs great!

Had to change frequency in EFI BIOS from 1333 to the factory 1600. One single click and voila. 1.5v is awesome is you plan to overclock your CPU.

Installed them on a new P67 Sabertooth MoBo. Recognized them like breeze.

Thinking of getting another pack of this RAM to have an overall of 16g (the pleasure of having several Adobe programs opened at once) worth it.

Works perfectly with my Asus P8P67 mobo and an Intel i7 2600K CPU. No need to use the MEMOK button, and these fit well near a Hyper 212+ cooler. Perfect memory for this board, considering the problems from more expensive memory not working well since they operate above the 1.5V.

I have 4 pieces of these running on a MSI MATX mother board. I actually had to file down the side of the processor fan because it hit the top of the heatsink on ram position 1. The board is very tight because they put everything but the kitchen sink on it. - 1600mhz - 8gb - Memory'

Iphone Cable - ipad, iphone

It just works.

This cable is great. It charges and it syncs both my iPad and my iPod touch. I'm sure it would do the same for an iPhone as well.

And *even with shipping included* I could buy three of these for the same price that Apple charges for just one of their cables. Quite a deal. (FYI I bought mine from CrazyOnDigital through Amazon.)

(Footnote: As many of you may know the iPad draws more current than the iPods or iPhones so the iPad's charger can run up to 10W [vs. the normal 5W of the other devices.] Not that it matters anyway, because that's just the charger not the cable. I mention this just in case someone is confused: yes this cable will work with the higher 10W draw for the iPad as well as the lower draws of the iPods and iPhones.) New Sync & Charge USB Cable for Apple iPad (Black, Color), also support iPhone 3G/3GS/4G, iPod Touch 2G/3G/4G, iPod Nano.

It's always been obvious to me that Apple is ripping people off BADLY by charging so much money for simple items like cables and chargers. It's shameless.

Here we have a cable that is currently priced at about [...] (including shipping), and is for all intents and purposes identical to the official Apple cable that came with the iPad. Actually, I'd give this [...] cable a slight advantage because it's black, and does not draw attention to itself, like the "official" white cable does.

This black cable is about the same size as the original -- perhaps 1 inch longer. Both connector ends of the cable are identical in size and shape to the original. The width of the cable is almost literally a hair thinner -- probably just a difference in the cable jacket material or something.

Functionally, there are no issues with sync or stability. Works great every time.

Also, a note to people who dislike getting tons of useless throw-away packaging: it was shipped in the smallest of floppy-plastic envelopes (that strong, stretchy gray plastic envelope material, but very small), and did not have any other packaging, aside from the little plastic loop holding it in a coil. It was shipped to me by ElectroshopUSA (nice job).

UPDATE March 2, 2011: It looks like the photo in this product has changed, and now there is some kind of storage pouch that comes with the cable. So this no longer appear to be the same product I reviewed here. It really bothers me that Amazon allows products to change like this without creating a new product in their catalog.

For the record, the cable in the photo does NOT appear to have the exact same connections that the original iPad cable has.

I know that I posted my review on the correct product because my order status at the top of this page still says that I purchased this item. ("You purchased this item on August 22, 2010.")

I'm not saying this cable doesn't work, but I am saying please verify the product yourself, because my review was when the cable offered here looked identical to the original iPad cable, just in black color instead of white.

The picture shows heavy duty anti-bend/break material where the cord enters the plug.

The sync cords that I received did not have this extra material.

They are just like the cheap ones that came with my iPod Touch and my iPad.

The ones that keep breaking at that joint.

If I wanted cheap junk, I could have gotten it for a lot less money.

Please do not assume that you will receive what is pictured.

I will contact the seller to complain about this misrepresentation.

I will also try to upload a photo of what was really sent.

Thank you for reading my review!

Have bought other inexpensive products from this supplier (importer520) before and had good results. However, the USB cables I received in this shipment look nothing like the image (which I've bought before with good result). They are flimsy and none work with any of our Apple iPhone 3G, 4G or iTouch devices. Junk.

Pros: Cheap, not white, reasonable length. Excellent practice for soldering or epoxy.

Cons: Pieces of junk. Ordered 2. Plastic around USB-A end of one broke the second time it was unplugged from PC. Second one lasted two weeks. Fools bargain.

Well the cables that are pictured are not the cables that i received. The cables that i received do work when plugged directly into my IPhone4, however I purchased this cable to use with my dock (Eigertec Black Sync Charger Dock Cradle for iPhone 4 4G Audio out Cradle) that I purchased from amazon as well. This particular cable will not connect at all to the dock. The connector seems to not be long enough to make a connection. It looks like you could file it down or remove the shell to get it to fit correctly but who wants to go through all that? Overall the product works when directly connected but is not like pictured and does not connect to the cradle I specifically bought for it. Disappointed at least a little bit. I will not purchase again from this seller due to the differences in what i purchased and what i received being different. - Iphone - Ipad - Apple - Ipod'

Sonic The Hedgehog - classics, video games

I never had a Genesis, so I missed out on a lot of great games. I've played the first Sonic, and some of these games in the arcade, but overall, I never got to experience the glory days of Sega. Also, it's hard to find PS3 games that appeal to my fiance, and she was excited at the prospect of playing Ecco the Dolphin & the Sonic games again.

There are nearly 50 games on here, and when you consider how much the various games would cost on the Wii virtual console, or Xbox Live arcade, this is an amazing deal. Even at $60, this would be a great deal, but at $30, it's a no brainer.

The presentation is pretty slick, the main menu looks like a Genesis unit, and the games are a stack of cartridges you sort through. You can rate games on a 5 star scale, and then sort them in the order you rated them, so your least favorite games will fall to the bottom of the list.

The only complaint I have is that the line "all titles have been converted to high def" is wrong and misleading. A filter has been applied to make the games look better at a higher resolution, nothing has been reworked or remade to take advantage of HD. The good thing is you can switch between 4:3 and 16:9 on the fly, and turn the filter off if you want. I will say that the games on this collection have looked a lot better than their Virtual Console counterparts on my TV.

Overall, you can't go wrong with this collection. Whether you're an old Genesis lover wanting a trip down memory lane, or someone who missed out on Sega's golden age and want to see what all the hype was about, this is a must-buy. Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection

+ Pros:

+ 40 Genesis games and 9 extra games for less than a dollar apiece

+ Setup options including widescreen, graphic smoothing, and button configurations

+ 3 Save slots per game

- Cons:

- No "Lock-on" option to play as Knuckles in Sonic 2 or 3

Ahh yes, the 1980's and 1990's. Two great periods of video games for the Sega franchise.

First, the arcade stand-ups - their machines called out to be filled with quarters offering level after level of difficult challenges to overcome. When the 1980's were drawing to a close and people were ready to move beyond the limits of 8-bit Nintendo games, Sega introduced their 4th generation home video game console, the Sega Genesis. This 16-bit system offered better graphics, longer Role-Playing Games, and one speedy hedgehog that tested the patience of even the most seasoned gamer.

This compilation combines 40 games from Sega's Genesis library, 7 of their stand-up arcade ports and 2 games from the Sega Master System, all on one disc.

Some of these games are initially locked, but they can be unlocked without much difficulty.

Graphics: First off, let's be honest - since these are 3rd and 4th generation video games, graphically they are not "cutting edge". If your earliest gaming console was a Sony Playstation, these games will look pre-historic to you. Most of the games have a faux background and the gameplay is centered in the middle of the screen in a 4:3 default format. The aspect ratio can be changed to letterbox (16:9) and there is even an option to smooth the graphics - but with games like these, smoothing actually takes away from the nostalgia.

Options: I love the options this compilation offers! Not only can you set your own button layouts and turn on/off the rapid fire option, but you can save your progress on every single game! Games like Sonic the Hedgehog were very unforgiving and had no save points when they were first released...but with 3 save slots at your disposal, you can take your time to complete the games at your own pace.

Gameplay: With 49 games to choose from, there are several genres at your fingertips:

Want a platformer? Try Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle.

Fancy a beat `em up? Altered Beast is calling you.

Itching for an epic RPG? Try Phantasy Star III.

How about a puzzle game? Stack up the Columns.

Maybe an action game? Suit up with ESWAT.

Side Scroller fan? Ecco the Dolphin needs your help.

Hack & Slash, eh? Grab some grog and try out Golden Axe.

Perhaps you prefer a shooter? Space Harrier is all about the bullets!

You'd like a good old fashioned Run `n' Gun? Look no further than Vectorman 2.

Whatever type of gameplay you like, it can be found in this collection.

Extras: There are interviews with several Sega employees made specifically for this collection. You can tell each person put their heart & soul into their game of choice...it was a different time. Nowadays, people like Hideo Kojima have 200 people at their disposal, whereas most of these games were made by very small teams. There is a brief history and graphic artwork for each game, a nice piece of nostalgia.

Trophies: The trophies for this game are a mixed bag. Some trophies are laughably easy (such as Ecco the Dolphin - this trophy is earned by simply talking to another dolphin!), while others like Dr. Robitnik's M.B.M. trophy (beat the game) are tooth-grindingly difficult. I thought the trophy for "Final Oasis" was a good example - the goal to free the water spirit took some time, but didn't require completing the entire game. I loved the trophy requiring every game to be played at least once.

As far as negatives, there is only one that comes to mind, the exclusion of the "lock-on" gameplay for Sonic 3, Sonic 2, and the Blue Sphere levels. This allowed gamers to play as Knuckles instead of Sonic, which could not be done at the time due to software/hardware limitations. Since the Playstation 3 is a 7th generation video game console, I was surprised these were excluded. I hope they will show up as a download from the Playstation Network before too long.

Conclusion?

If you want to take a trip down video game memory lane for a great price, this is the best collection to do it with - it breaks down to less than a dollar per game. For your portable needs, I strongly recommend the Sega Genesis Collection for the PSP. - Sega - Classics - Sonic The Hedgehog - Video Games'

Rubber Skin - htc inspire case, htc inspire 4g

"I was skeptical at first about ordering this item due to both the new seller status of the distributor, and the fact that it was coming from Hong Kong and would take almost a month to arrive. I can say I am so glad I ordered it and I am very pleased with the item as it fits my new HTC Inspire 4G beautifully. I had a lot of difficulty finding a protective cover for my new phone due to the recent release of the phone and everything that looked nice was sold out. I found this case and loved the look of it. When the item arrived it looked just like the picture and fit my phone great. It has a nice grip to it but also a polished look that slides easily in and out of your pocket. I emailed the seller about the shipping time, as I needed to protect my phone as soon as possible, and was responded to withn the same day. Although it stated a long wait for shipping I recieved the item fairely quickly. I actually purchased a second case as a back up because I liked it so much." Excellent Product and Customer Service! TPU Rubber Skin Case for HTC Desire HD, Clear Frost Smoke Circle

I was a little worried buying one of these for so little money, but it delivered. It fits the Inspire 4G perfectly. It looks great and is overall just a great purchase. I've purchase much worse quality for a lot more money in local electronics stores. The material also doesn't have that "stickiness" that the silicon skins have so when I put it in my pocket it doesn't get hung up on the fabric, yet there's still enough friction not to slide around in my hand when I'm using my phone.

I'm going to make this review short because there is not much to say about this case. It's simple to install, easy to use, and protects my HTC Inspire 4g for att from scratches and drops. It was estimated for arrival in one month, but it arrived in one week, which was pretty fast since it came from HongKong. The case fits superb, I was imaging it being loose and made of cheap material, but no it fits perfectly and feels great.

Overall it is a best buy!

This case is a great fit. Nice and snug on my HTC Inspire 4G. Has a good grip so it won't slip out of my hand when pulling it from my pocket. The volume controls are not obstructed at all and fits perfectly around camera, lights and ports. The power button on the top is a little off and it takes a second try or three to press it, but not a big deal unless you're in a hurry to put it away.

this is amazing. for 3 dollars you get everything you would want in a case, AND it looks good. Fits great, easy to put on and to remove, and nice sized cut outs and buttons that actually make the power button EASIER to push. Only complaint is that the case is more of a finger print magnet than the phone itself. But scratches are barely noticeable. Definitely the best case around the under $20 price range.

I was skeptical about buying this because it was so cheap because we all know that you get what you pay for but this is the exception. It is very well made and fits my phone perfectly, has a nice feel to it too. Not too tacky but not slippery either. It also looks great on my Inspire. The shipping was very fast as well. Go get one, you won't be disappointed!

this cover is great for this phone it snaps on securely and covers the phone nicely, the edges are raised from the screen so if you put it face down on something the screen doesn't touch the surface, the rubber is smooth to the touch but will stick to certain surfaces, like my dining table, overall a great protective cover that looks great for my expensive droid

I just received this cover for my Inspire and put it on. I purchased the phone about a week ago and was paranoid that I was going to drop it. I bought this to put on it until I could find a more permanent solution. It fits the phone perfectly, and it even made tapping the power button slightly easier. I didn't really care for the circle pattern, but for 5 dollars I can overlook that. It also arrived ahead of schedule by about 2 days, which was nice. - Rubber Skin - Htc Inspire Case - Htc Inspire 4g - Covers'

Travel Briefs

I am a size 29-30 waist and so I ordered these in size small. The waist fits fine and the fabric is great. However, there is *very* little room for your junk in these, and thus they are rather uncomfortable in the front. These do not have any kind of pouch or extra space to hold your goods, so unless you want your boys to be totally squished, I would recommend going a size up. Because there was so little room, I even checked the packaging to see if they were actually men's underwear!

I don't feel I can return these because they are underwear after all, and I did try them on. But for the price I paid, I am rather disappointed in the fit, and the fact that I now own a expensive, yet virtually worthless pair of underwear. I may try the medium eventually, but I think I will check out UnderArmor next as it looks like their men's underwear actually provides proper room for a man. ExOfficio Men's Give-N-Go Brief,Charcoal,Large

They seemed comfortable enough and like they would be good material for activities, but these are full rise briefs. I go for the mid-rise kind, and can't stand full rise, but if you like the old school full rise style, then by all means these are for you.

I'd been looking for moisture wicking briefs for several months to replace what I had but are no longer available. I bought three pair on Amazon based on the reviews here. The reviews previously posted are all true! ExOfficio Give-N-Go briefs are remarkable. They're thinner and more comfortable than the briefs I had but hold the moisture just as well. IMO, well worth the price.

I don't like this style of underwear. My review merely pertains to the quality of it. I bought two pairs for a thru hike on the A.T. So far, so good. They wick and dry quick. Washing is easy as well, specifically compared to cotton undies. For the price, which was under twenty for one, it was a deal. Patagonia and other like capilene products, though better quality (not by much) are far more expensive. If you need undies for traveling light under any circumstance, buy two.

I bought two pairs of these briefs for my husband for our last trip, just to see if they worked. Well I would highly recommend them for traveling and will buy a few more as spares. They are very lightweight and they really do dry overnight. Saves on space and weight in the suitcase which really helps now that we are being charged so much for luggage. My husband found them to be very comfortable. The fit is perfect and they are very well made (in the USA, I might add). These will last for years.

These were both comfortable, and practical. I wore three pair over 3 weeks, and washed them out each night and by morning they were dry and fresh. They are full cut, and very flexible, and comfortable on long walks and hikes. They really did work perfect for traveling, and enabled me to pack a bit lighter.

BUY THEM - Comfortable and Durable and Relatively Cheap! Construction of seam and rubber band looks good. Does dry out quickly after washing. A bit pricey. I wanted the black ones, but Amazon was out of them at time of order. More comfortable than the more abrasive Cool-Max briefs.'

Autoimmune Diseases - autoimmune diseases, lupus

As an woman with autoimmune condition, Graves' disease, I have been desperately looking for information to help me in my efforts to improve my health. I am very grateful for Mary Shomon's book, because it's a fresh approach, and doesn't back off of looking at alternative and natural medicine options, but does include all the standard information (symptoms, how it's diagnosed, traditional treatments) that some people want. As for me, I struggled for years with symptoms that were vague, and were pooh-poohed by the numerous doctors, until finally hitting on the right doctor to get a diagnosis. That was when my horror story just began, because I had to go through the dreadful maze of antithyroid drugs, radioiodine and thyroid treatment. What a mess. Since that time, I have suspected that I might have other conditions as well [symptoms of Raynaud's, arthritis, hair loss, I am even worried at times that I might be getting lupus], but most doctors look at me like I am losing my mind when I raise the risk of autoimmune disease, or complain about these symptoms as related to my Graves' disease.I learned a great deal reading about the more than 30 conditions discussed in depth. They're grouped according to the organs or systems under autoimmune attack (like hair & skin, gastrointestinal, and such), which I've not seen done anywhere else. There's a chapter that's just a list of symptoms and various things that put you at risk for autoimmune diseases. It's particularly detailed -- that list alone would have made this book worth its weight in gold to me back when I was struggling with mysterious symptoms and my GP and I couldn't figure it out. It would have saved me months of fear, and helped us narrow down the field pretty quickly, instead of going to a neurologist, an infectious disease specialist and a gynecologist before they figured out I had Graves' disease. The writer has included information I had not seen in any other book, including the use of antibiotic and anti-pathogen therapies, how supplements and diet can help the immune system without suppressing it, the role of diet, detoxification and food allergies in autoimmune disease, and natural antiviral therapies. I'm taking the book to my latest practitioner [my current doctor is actually pretty understanding on these conditions] and he and I will use the book to continue finetuning my efforts to feel better. (FWIW, I'm also using Elaine Moore's terrific book on Graves' disease, Mary Shomon's other book which is on thyroid problems, and the Paleo Diet, which are all helping as well.)As a fan of integrative medicine, I'm glad to see someone finally look at autoimmune disease from this perspective, and offer me some practical things I can actually do to help my own health. I can wholeheartedly recommend this book. Living Well with Autoimmune Disease: What Your Doctor Doesn't Tell You...That You Need to Know

I had been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, the doctors just did not know which one. There was a baffling array of symptoms that suggested that there were two disorders involved. Which two? The lack of information, and the lack of something specific to research, was maddening. This book helped it all make sense to me. Seeing all the possible disorders and all the possible symptoms, it became clear how difficult it was for the doctors to pinpoint a problem. It also helped me to realize that I did not need a label before I could begin working for a treatment. This book gave enough information for me to feel more in control and to familiarize me with the different diseases that were possibilities. Now I know which symptoms could be significant and should be reported. Things that did not seemed trivial before now have a different level of importance. But without guidance, I would not know what was worthwhile to report. Now I can be a better patient and can help my doctor narrow the diagnosis. This book was an excellent springboard to new topics to research and possible treatment avenues that might be worth investigating. The references for more information -- and why you would care -- was helpful too. This is a great book for those new to the autoimmune disease community.

In Living Well With Autoimmune Disease, Mary shows the reader how to successfully take charge of their autoimmune condition. Mary empowers her readers by showing how the best of both conventional and alternative medicine can be incorporated into a lifestyle plan. She not only teaches us about cutting-edge therapies, she explains how lifestyle changes contribute to healing. Showing us how diet, stress, and environmental toxins affect immune system health, she invites the reader to take charge and reduce their symptoms. By including anecdotes, symptom lists, and recommendations from a wide array of medical practitioners, Mary makes this book very user friendly and a welcome addition to any personal library.

Having treated auto-immune conditions for over 20 years, I am delighted to finally have a book on the subject that I can recommend to my patients wholeheartedly. Mary Shoman has done a truly superb job in collecting and coordinating a wide variety of very helpful diagnostic and therapeutic information. I am especially please to see the inclusion of both conventional and alternative approaches. In fact, her book makes more sense out of the auto-immune challenge than most of the medical textbooks I have read. Best of all, this richly packed comprehensive overview is easily readable and understandable. Her action plans are a compelling incentive for patients to take health issues into their own hands. Her detailed list of resources and references together rounds out a sparkling achievement. With auto-immune illness increasing dramatically all over the world, EVERYONE needs to read this book.

Having been diagnosed with an AD (Chrohn's Disease) six years ago and not changing my living habits, I found myself hospitalized and in need of surgery (double ostomy). Since this surgery I have found myself reevaluating my life. I have trying to absorb all of the information about Chrohn's and AD in general. This is the third book about AD that I have read and by far the best of the three. The other two were medical text books that contained a lot of technical information with little practicality. They went into a lot of depth about what AD is and current treatments, but they did not go into any depth about living with an AD.This book gives great information about all AD and what you as the patient can do to prevent getting more AD (yes if you have one it is easier to get another), and treatments (mostly herbal and general diet guidelines) that a doctor won't discuss with you.Although this is a great book in that it covers all AD, it does not go into any significant depth. What I came to realize is that all of the information that I had read (specifically with Chrohn's) was previously provided in all of the AD specific books that I had read. I learned nothing new about my disease (except that if you have one AD it is easier to get another). If you have just been diagnosed with an AD, then I would highly recommend reading this book, but I don't think it was worth adding it to my "medical" library (check it out from the library). After that explore you AD and use the information in this book to get started on your treatment. - Fatigue - Autoimmune Diseases - Lupus - Autoimmune'
