Yoga Accessories - manduka yoga mat, yoga

The Manduka mat is as good as everyone says it is; much sturdier and provides more support than a sticky mat; sort of like the difference between really good running shoes and spongy flip flops. The bag is good and this was a good deal on it. I wouldn't have paid full price to buy the bag separately. I did have problems with the bag's lining getting caught in the zipper initially and had to pull out my sewing kit. I probably could have returned it, but it was an easy one-time fix. All in all, satisfied. Manduka Black Mat Pro Yoga Package, Graphite, 71 Inch Mat

I read the reviews, bought the mat, took it to a heated vinyasa class. It was very slick the first time I used it. Took it home, used some simple green cleaner on it, scrubbed with a nylon brush. I allowed a couple of days for drying, and used it again with much better results. I anticipate it will get better with a little wear, and am quite satisfied with my purchase. It is quite heavy, and gives off a strong odor.

After reading all the good reviews about this mat I decided to give it a try. I practice ashtanga yoga and I was looking for something that could last a lifetime. This is what I found:

- It is more slippery than I expected. I was surprised to find out that my hands sweat more than usual while in contact with this mat's surface (I had tried the cheap mats that my gym provides and many of them are less slippery than the manduka).

- At first it had a strong rubber smell. I just left it under the sun for a couple of days and the smell diminished (I think that it will vanish completely as time goes by).

- It is heavy. I wouldn't recommend it for long distance walks (if you are walking one or two blocks with the mat, it is not a problem).

- Size is great (larger than most mats).

- Cushion is great (thick and firm).

- Corners don't roll. It behaves like a sticker on the floor. This mat has sides, so you have to turn it around to use it and then turn it again to roll it.

- Seems durable (and in most reviews it says that there are yoguis that have had this mat for more than 4 years and that it is still in great shape).

The bag is great. It is easy to put the mat in even if it is not rolled tight.

The Manduka BlackMatPRO mat is by far the very best mat that you can buy. Yes, it is quite a price jump from others, but it is money well spent. My last mat (Lululemon) started falling apart after two years of use - a disappointment, since I spent $65 on it. This mat has excellent support and traction.

My yoga instructor recommended that I wipe it down with a soft cloth with mild dishsoap and water before first using it, as it has a coating on it, which causes your hands and feet to slip.

This mat helps you get more out of your practice - the length and width of the mat also allow you to be on your mat for most poses.

An excellent investment! The only mat to buy if you are serious about your practice.

The MatSak is also amazing. There is ample space for your mat on one side, and your towel, straps, change of clothes and wallet on the other. Simply awesome.

One regular yoga mat wasn't supportive enough for me. For a while I tried two regular mats, but that was slippery, and after only a few months I could see signs of wear. I decided to invest in a quality mat. I asked a bunch of yoga teachers which mat to get, and several recommended the Manduka.

When it arrived I was skeptical--it didn't seem very cushy. But the first time I used it, I immediately noticed how much more support it provided. I left class with my wrists and ankles feeling great!

The mat does have a slippery coating on it, but that wore off after a few weeks of classes. I wiped it often with some regular yoga mat cleaner, and used a cut-off section of one old standard mat to brace my hands until the coating was gone. Now it's sticky, but not "eyeww" sticky. Just right! The surface is easy to clean--no bumpy texture to trap dirt--and it doesn't absorb the sweat that can lead to that old-sneaker aroma on standard mats.

I highly recommend getting the Mat Sak as well. It's a great bag--well made, and the ventilation holes are a good idea. As previous reviewers have mentioned, the mat is a bit heavier than some other mats, but the Sak is very helpful in that regard with a comfy strap that makes carrying your mat easy.

If you're looking for a great supportive mat that will wear a long time, Manduka's the one you want!

The Mat:

Perfectly thick

No slipping

Perfect length

The Bag:

worth getting since the mat is on the heavy side. has a great pocket for things/ accessories and it does have this mesh zipper pocket for keys and small things.

great buy... bit expensive but worth every penny

Like many other reviewers, I agree the mat is heavy, well made, with a thick durable rubber material that provides excellent cushioning. However, the surface is extremely slick even when slightly wet. Even after washing it several times, using it for almost 2 months (2x a week) and scrubbing it with sea salt as recommended in the online FAQ, it is still too slick for me. I do power yoga but I tend to sweat a lot, especially on my palms and feet so the slickness is an even bigger issue for me. If you sweat a lot like me or do styles of yoga that make you sweat, try it out first before committing to buy. My yoga instructor has this same mat but even after being worn in, it doesn't feel that much stickier than mine so I don't think it will get much better. I could get a yoga mat towel to place over it but I'd prefer to find a mat that doesn't need it rather than spend more money. I'll see if I have better luck with other yoga mat brands. Too bad because I really wanted to like this! I've heard good things about the Jade Fusion brand so will give that a try. - Manduka Yoga Mat - Yoga Accessories - Manduka - Yoga'

Playstation 3 - sports, video games

I would have to say that this is probably the most enjoyable football game to come out since the earlier NCAA Football's (i.e. 2005, 2006, 2007). There are many good changes that seem under the surface and are not extremely noticeable at first, but the quality of the game has definitely gone up for the next-gen consoles, although it's a disappointment that the next-gen versions have not caught up to the last-gen versions in terms of gameplay. This seems like it may be changing with the current iteration of NCAA Football.

Now, I'm not saying that this game surpasses the best of the NCAA Football franchise; it's just one of the best of recent times. The running style seems to be changed, which is great; the previous running style seemed extremely fake and unreal, and this one takes a step in the right direction. Jukes still don't factor in player momentum as much, but player acceleration does take a while, meaning that if a player goes from standing still to running or running one way to running the other they are forced to slow down, cut, and accelerate. This does wonders for the game. There are still some gameplay quirks, glitches, and whatnot, but that has to be taken with a grain of salt. Sometimes an option pitch will be caught by the defense when it would've been fought over or actually fumbled by the RB, and fumbles do happen more than occasionally, but the game is an obvious step up from last year's model and the year's before.

Road to Glory was not touched at all. That is a major disappointment to me :(. That was, and still is, my favorite game modes, and the fact that they payed no attention to it is sad. But the dynasty mode, especially recruiting, was taken off the hook to another level. Recruiting can be done on a PC, iPhone, iPad, probably even a Zune HD (HEY! I HAVE ONE OKAY?! AND THEY ARE COOL!), which immerses you even more and makes you feel like a coach. This may be a little over the top for some players, and that's fine; just do what you normally do. The online portion of NCAA Football '11 is really neat-o, and in my opinion it may be my most played game over the summer.

Dynasty is as fun as ever. Make your team the super team, take a terrible team all the way, continue an already established dynasty like Florida, Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, or Oregon and improve their dominance, whatever you want, it's still there. At one point my hopes went really high. I saw that there was an option for switching teams for conferences and I went all like "No way! They figured some conference shake-up would happen and made sure that you could put teams in other places! Cool!". But no, it was just a team switcher, you couldn't actually build your own super conference. That gave me a super sad face.

The interface is cool. The main menu looks a lot like the Xbox 360's UI, which was intriguing, but I got over it (I have both, so I know what the 360 interface is). Sometimes it takes a while to load, but that is forgivable. When it is auto-saving you can't do anything at all on the game. The scoreboard (onscreen) is a replica of the ESPN scoreboard and is very nice to look at, even though you probably won't be looking at the scoreboard that much, unless you're really bored. It's still a great feature and makes the presentation of the game more believable and a lot more "gameday-like", if you know what I mean (chips, beer [pop if you're under 21 like me], dip, hot dogs, the whole nine yards).

The graphics are awesome. If you're into just graphics, you won't be disappointed by these. EA games are meant to be played on the PS3, so if you have both consoles, get it on the the PS3. The lighting effects are great and the uniforms look vibrant and more beautiful than ever. The field looks nice, but when it does replays and shows you a long view of the field it is obvious that the grass doesn't pop up. I know that's not a deal breaker, but it would be cool and interesting to have, would it not? Helmets look great.

The commentary is still recycled, and recycled heavily. If you've played these games before -- which I assume you have -- you'll find yourself mouthing or speaking the sentences with Brad Nessler and Kirk Herbstreit (I miss Corso =[ ), or maybe just turning the commentary off altogether. It gets pretty annoying after a while.

I love it. If you love college football and were angry at the previous versions, I would highly recommend picking this copy up, because EA is starting to get the college football experience right.

EDIT: After a couple more days playing the game, there seems to be some more oddities within the actual gameplay, which is expected, but is also extremely annoying. In addition to the defense catching your pitch, sometimes players suddenly stop when they are running towards the ball or going to catch a ball, which is kind of frustrating as you'll be expecting them to continue forward like any self-respecting football player would do and then they suddenly stop. Running backs, at certain points, will cut back into the middle of the field -- towards the rest of the defense -- when there is a massive amount of open yardage on the edge and they most likely would've had a touchdown. These are just a couple of gameplay quirks that i noticed that really don't change how much I enjoyed the game, but for some people they will be deal-breakers.

ANOTHER EDIT: As I said in my previous edit, sometimes the players running will suddenly stop while going towards a ball. This killed me in one of my games. Michigan vs. MSU, I go down 17 to nothing, score 28 straight with the backup QB, MSU scores 17 more to make it 34 to 28, I score another TD to make it 35 to 34. 1 minute and 30 seconds left in the game. MSU is at their 19 yard line. They throw deep on the first play. I say to myself, "Let's let my computer controlled player run towards the ball so I don't accidentally make him run the wrong way". Seems sensible, right? WRONG. He runs...and stops. The receiver catches the ball at my 30 yard line. I stop them for a 3 and out, but they hit the field goal and go up 37 to 35. I can't do anything about it, I go 4 and out and they kneel the ball. GAH!!! (Played on All-American). Really?! NCAA Football 11 - Football - College Football - Video Games - Sports'

Kitchen Utensils - bonjour, butane torch

I was looking at a little cheaper one at first then realized many people had problems and recommended more expensive one. So, I decided to purchase this one and I am so glad that I did. This is durable, very easy to use and flame comes out so strong at the highest position which makes your work a lot faster and easier.

Like someone wrote here, mine came with full fuel. I couldn't see any air inside the window so tried to fill up and didn't go in. So I turned it on and noticed it had full fuel already. So, if you purchase this item, you should try using it before filling it up.

I made 2 creme brulee in 5" diameter dishes and used about 1/3 of the fuel. It hold enough to make 6 or more so you don't have to keep filling up. There is a small knob on the side at the top of this torch which I didn't know until I was done using it (read instructions!!!). It is to hold the frame so you don't have to keep holding the turn on button. BonJour Creme Brulee Chef's Culinary Torch with Fuel Gauge, Brushed Aluminum

Great little torch. A bit larger than I expected, but that's OK. The operation is flawless.

Of note: mine appears to have arrived full of butane. Highly unusual for butane products; so check the fuel gauge before you try to fill it: it makes a mess when you try to fill an already full torch.

The BonJour Chef's Torch is larger and significantly more powerful than the two other standard crème brulee torches we own. We use these torches in our home for cooking and in our our small business where we teach crafts. Here are my observations:

Pros:

+ Large Base; able to stand very stably on its own which is handy when locked on for hands free use

+ Comfortable Grip; the aluminum body is perfectly sized for medium to larger hands

+ Large Flame; has a good range of flame sizes, but lowest is still fairly high in comparison to other torches

+ Fuel Window; easy to see how much fuel is in the torch

+ Good Looking; this does not look cheap, which is good if using it in front of guests or customers (like we do)

Cons:

- Recessed screw holes on aluminum body are sharp, we filled them with modeling clay since it is unlikely we will ever need to take it apart

- Uses a lot more fuel than our other torches, but that is the trade off for the larger flame

This might be more than some people need, but it does work very well for our needs!

Highly Recommended!

CFH

I purchased this torch to use for Creme Brulee. Mine did not come full of fuel as other reviewers mentioned, so I was glad to have purchased a fuel refill. After filling it, it worked fine on the first ramekin, but continued to go out when I tried to use it on the second ramekin. I repeatedly tried and it just kept going out. I followed the directions and made sure the flame indicator was in the mid-range and even tried adjusting the air valve, but every time I use it, it just sputters out. The fuel indicator shows that it is full. I eventually get the crust I am looking for on the Creme Brulee, but it takes entirely too long.

I have always wanted a torch for Creme Brulee and I finally bought one. I am very pleased with the BonJour Chef's Torch. It is very easy to operate, I love that it has a viewable fuel gauge and it has a safety latch. I have aready used it for Creme Brulee and also to add a nice finished touch to some meringue. I recommend this to anybody looking for their first torch. - Butane Torch - Bonjour - Kitchen Gadgets - Creme Brulee'

Digital Camera - high definition, hd camcorder

I've had this camera for about a week now and have been loving it ever since. I've used another "flip" camcorder and the Bloggie Touch puts it to shame.

Pros:

1. Love the quick on and record. Great for spontaneous videos of the little one.

2. The touch screen interface makes it both useful and fun to use the big screen.

3. The still pictures come out brilliant, when the lighting and focus is good.

4. The battery charges up super fast and stays with you for a whole day of shooting.

5. The image stabilization is good. You can take decent video while walking around and panning too. Note that it is not optical, but electronic SteadyShot stabilization.

6. The lens is very good quality and the pictures are crisp.

7. Really like the "snap picture while recording" feature. I find myself using that feature the most. The video doesn't stall while the picture (full 12M resolution) is being taken and since the focus and exposure are usually locked well while you're in the middle of the video, the pictures come out great.

Cons:

1. In low lighting, there is quite a bit of graininess and using the digital zoom makes it much worse.

2. While the lens is good quality, the auto-focus mechanism is really very slow. If you move around the camera too much before focus has locked on, the auto-focus will almost never lock.

3. What I really miss with this camera is a flash. Even a tiny one would help with low light pictures.

4. Minor annoyance: to preview a picture right after you take it, you have to go through at least two clicks. Sony could have designed it so that it always goes to the last picture taken by default, instead of the thumbnail list of all pictures/video on the device.

I decided to purchase this camera over a still camera that can do video because:

1. This one is dead simple. One button to turn on, one to take video and one to take stills. This makes it both easy and quick to use.

2. This one can do 1080p video and 720p at 60fps.

3. Its under $200 and is smaller than your phone.

4. Its got internal flash and USB connector - no more SD cards or cables. 8GB is enough to get you through the day before you can come back to your laptop to dump the pictures.

I decided to purchase this camera over other ones in the same category because:

1. Its got a big display and the touch screen is fun to use.

2. Its got a better lens system than the others.

3. Its got (some) image stabilization. Sony Bloggie Touch (MHS-TS20/S) - 8 GB, 4 Hours NEWEST MODEL (Silver)

I wanted to like this camera, but it's been a complete disappointment. First and foremost, the automatic focusing is terrible. The image is often out of focus, and there's no way to tell the camera to try focusing again. (Why not add this and handle it like the iphone does? Just touch on the subject you want in focus.) Most portable video cameras like this (e.g. flip and kodak) have fixed focus, and I was looking forward to the Sony's ability to focus, since it helps get better macro shots. Instead, the camera is just constantly hunting for focus and often not getting it.

The ergonomics are also a problem. I often want to hold the camera vertically, because it's more comfortable, but still take the usual landscape wide angle footage (again, like my flip and kodak cameras handle it). Instead, the Sony switches to verticle orientation when you hold it vertically. So, you've got to hold it sideways all the time, which isn't wildly comfortable for any length of time.

Adding insult to injury, none of the useful tools for sharing footage online work with the mac (though it will import into imovie).

The touch screen is nice and responsive and the video quality is good when it's in focus (though with the Sony's typical slightly colder color/white balance). But the camera's downsides--particularly the terrible constant focus hunting & missing--far outweigh its pluses.

I purchased this camera a few days ago and I absolutely love it. I wanted to get a pocket sized HD video camera for under $200 and I was considering this item to the Flip Mino and Flip Ultra. I settled on this item over those two Flip cameras for the following reasons:

1. Can record in 1080p.

2. 3" screen over 2" screen.

3. Can take still photos with Bloggie. Cannot do this with Flip.

4. Can record in 16:9 or 4:3.

5. Bloggie has 4x digital zoom compared to 2x digital zoom for Flip.

The biggest selling point for me is being able to record in 1080p. It makes a difference if you are going to output to a TV (via HDMI) that can support 1080p.

Now, I will say that the accessories for the Flip are much cooler but I wasn't shopping for accessories.

Also, some people complain of the video quality in low-lighting. Duh! The Flip, Bloggie, Zi8 type cameras are not really designed for low light settings. If you want a HD video recorder/camera that fits in your pocket, easy to use, has a nice wide screen, and takes great video for under $200 I strongly suggest the Bloggie. If you want a HD video recorder/camera that is perfect for all situations in all sorts of lighting for under $200 you're not going to find it.

Edit on 12/29/2010: I just learned today that while I can have over four hours of recording when using the 720p 30fps setting I cannot record continuously for over 30 minutes. I'm still very pleased with the bloggie but the 30 minute time limit is a big disappointment. If for example you do some kind of martial arts class and you want to set it on a stand and record the entire hour long class you will not be able to.

Consider this to be a rebuttal of the reviews of the Sony Bloggie Touch which were badly written by non-photographers, whiners, people who don't read camera manuals, people who don't understand that a camera needs, YES!, light ... Like flash? Get one of the thousands of cameras that feature automatic, built-in flash. Do you understand that a camera, even one with anti-shake features, must be held as motion-free as possible for best results, particularly in poor light? Video cameras don't use flash. Sorry, incorporating a video light on this camera would at least quadruple it's really handy size. Don't like the touch interface? Are you a Luddite? This is the most fantastic camera interface I have ever used. A touch interface like this is the main feature that makes the iPhone, Touch, and iPad so popular with tens of millions of people worldwide.

The focusing is quite satisfactory - do you want a ring around the lens so you can focus yourself like twenty years ago? Do you think a very, very small form factor 1080p video/still camera which costs less than $160 with the touch interface making it the most easy-to-use camera of its type must do everything perfectly seeing that no camera is perfect regardless of price or class? I think the ergonomics are superb just as the iPod ergonomics are superb.

I like my iPod Nano for the same reasons I admire the Sony Bloggie Touch design: small, elegant, easy interface, excellent performance within the design constraints imposed by current technology. Attach the wrist loop, hold the Bloggie as instructed in the PDF user manual (did you read that?), practice for 30 seconds and Voilà! Success. If you have a tripod so cheap it doesn't have a vertical flip capability, you have no right speak about tripod use.

My use so far has shown the Bloggie Touch to be everything I hoped it would be in video and stills. I have numerous cameras including Nikon SLRs, Leicas, Fuji, and Canon from the days of film up to the present. Some photos I've posted online have gotten tens of thousands of views. I have been a press photographer. I love cameras and am inclined to say there are no bad cameras, only bad photographers. Having a camera with oneself and knowing how to use it with style and making use of its features, whatever they may be, is the mark of a photographer. You want quicker focus, get a Leica M9 and focus by hand. Get a Nikon D3 and a few thousands of dollars worth of lenses and other accessories to get the features you think the Bloggie Touch should have but doesn't. - Camcorder - Hd Camcorder - Hd Video - High Definition'

Furniture Arrangement - furniture arrangement, art

I can only speak on behalf of myself, who is a completely clueless when it comes to decorating a home! I have always lived with others in apartments or school dorms, so I never had a say on home decor. Now, in the process of buying my first home, I am completely lost as to how to decorate it and what to buy! I love entertaining and I love having visitors over. I love color and I love beautiful furniture... if it wasnt for this book, I'm sure I would have gotten tons of different focal points and tons of splashes of color (I was color deprived when I was young!). This book helps you organize your thoughts mentally, and helps when you are starting off with a clean canvas. I say it's helpful for the clueless because it is of tremendous help to me (very clueless!). I'm not sure how helpful it will be if you already have ideas about home decorating! It's also pretty modern (I'm 24) if that is the direction you are looking towards.

The last section is also really cool! It has a floor grid and cut-out furniture pieces and a checklist that I can't wait to play around with! The Nest Home Design Handbook: Simple ways to decorate, organize, and personalize your place

I purchased this book because I wanted some unique ideas in an easy to read format and sure enough, this is what I was given!!! I love it!!! It is FULL of pictures which makes it easy for my husband to flip through and say like it/hate it....and that brings a huge grin to my face ;-) Oh, we relocate every three to four years (nope, not a military family) and we ALWAYS have new places and spaces. This gives great advice on using what you have and really adding speacial pieces.

This book is perfect for the beginning home owner or renter who doesn't know where to begin in making decisions about how to decorate their home. The book has material you can't find elsewhere on layout, types of sofas, chairs, beds, rooms etc. The rooms are contemporary, up-to-date and fresh.

The book has useful charts and questionnaires which will help the reader in decision-making and it's very clear and easy to read. It's a wonderful springboard to begin to articulate your personal style. I teach a class on interior design through continuing education and find the book very useful for students as an introduction to a complex subject like interior design.

We're purchasing our first home and I felt overwhelmed at the prospect of designing every room from scratch but this wonderful book inspired me to embrace the entire project, including painting walls. It's elementary, the Nest Home appears to be geared toward newly marrieds, but for those like me who need a refresher on the basics, this works!

I really enjoyed looking through this book. I haven't read the whole thing though but what I have read is great! It gives great tips, pictures, a nice reference in back of the book, and some color schemes. This is a great book for just getting started with decorating, or if you would like some fresh ideas.

This book has helped me so much. I made use of the lists they provide for you in the back and when I went shopping for a room in my house, I had my list ready to go and picked everything out. It was so helpful. I love all the ideas and WOW, it is SO easy to read and easy to follow. This book has great tips along the sides of the pages and explains everything so easily, and it's easy on your eyes. The font and the way they designed the book layout is great, like I said, easy to read and understand. Very modern ideas that I love. Plus it's a pretty book to put on display. I can't say enought about this, I would recommend this to anyone who wants an easy read for fresh and modern approaches to interior design.

I am totally into home design and watch as many shows as possible on HGTV. I also love [..]. This book proves to be the perfect combination of the two. The pages are well designed and easy to follow. The tips are great and I think anyone who is into home design will like this book.

I bought this book a few days ago, and I have hardly been able to put it down since. I'm fairly new to decorating; I'm a beginning grad student renting a small single-family home. This book is by no means a complete reference guide to home decorating, but it has plenty of inspiring design ideas (LOTS of full-page photos) and basic information (e.g., types of carpet/furniture/lighting, how to arrange furniture and decorations, etc). These ideas can be incorporated into just about any design plan and any budget. However, it really is more of an idea/inspiration book and NOT a step-by-step guide to anything.

The book is organized into four main functional areas of the home ("live" = living room, "eat" = kitchen, "sleep" = bedroom, "stash" = closet/office organization), and it has a short planning and reference section at the end. This book is ideal for young decorators, and I believe it's actually intended for young newlyweds in particular (hence "The Nest" affiliation). Most of the designs feature contemporary style (think ikea), so keep that in mind.

Overall, a great book to get you started. I recommend it to all the twenty- and thirty-somethings out there looking to establish a sense of contemporary style in their homes.

As someone who knows very little about decorating and style, I found this book to be very inspirational and helpful. I consider it a must have. It covers furniture and art arranging, how to set a table, items to keep in a bar, explores color and creative storage ideas, just to name a few.

I love this book. - Art - Furniture Arrangement - Decorating - Furniture Arrangements'

Christian Music - free, free mp3

I LOVE listening to them and this free song was so wonderful to find. I don't have this CD. When I put in their music I find I can't help but stop and just be. I love their sound...I love how I can listen to them and really connect with God. Beautiful. Thanks for the free song! How Great Is Our God

The first half minute or so is pretty good but it soon deteriorates. The volume is inconsistent, with bursts of annoyingly loud singing. Even with a low volume setting, the song's screamy aspect makes it hard to focus on the lyrics. The singing quality is insufficient for the primary singer's style of adding much emphasis that flows against the music. At the time of my writing this, the mp3 is a lengthy 5:47 but the song nevertheless gets cut off before it completes.

I love this song, whenever I hear it I just want to lift my hands to the Lord God in praise and thanksgiving. What an amazing song that really makes you think of how Great our God really is! God Bless you for reading this and I hope you'll take the time and download and listen to this song - play it for your friends, family and everyone you know. Be a light shining brightly in the darkness. Lift up your hearts! Lift them up to the LORD!

I downloaded it to figure out how to get the MP3 on my phone before I bought some of my favorites from Steve Green. In the process I learned I needed to use the downloader, and ended up with a song that is great at any price. The song and her voice is indistinguishable from the very best out there. WOW!

First of all, Kimberly Rivera's voice is soaring and powerful and expressive, she really lets loose when she sings. I haven't heard anyone exactly like her. Her husband Alberto is excellent on the piano. This is a very worshipful, inspiring rendition of this song.

Their other songs are also highly recommended, they usually write their own material, whereas this is a cover of a popular worship song by Chris Tomlin.

Just a note that this song cuts off at the end where it is supposed to flow seamlessly into the next song on the album. I haven't bought the Deeper Still album yet but I may. I have their The Collection and The Longing albums and they are both quite good. I would describe them as free-flowing, meditative, "new age" sound worship. Good for "soaking" prayer. Some songs (such as Royalty) build to dramatic climaxes that give me goose bumps.

This song is captivating, seriously. What an amazing voice this woman has (and his is very nice too). It enticed me to purchase some of their CD's and I have not been disapointed in any of them. I would prefer that Alberto, I assume it's Alberto, would cut down on his "verbal coaching" during the songs & music. It interrupts the spiritual flow and fibe...with her voice & the cool music you do not need any coaching...it provokes emotion without it. - Free Mp3 - Praise - Free - Worship'

Birthday Gift - travel, tote bag

I bought the Garden/Leaf green tote, and it's the perfect sized work bag. Love the color and design- even cuter in person. it's got flowers and little birds on it. the water bottle pouch is a nice size, too. Happy about the key holder in the little internal pocket.

Holds my purse, a book, lunch, knitting, and a few files with a little room to spare.

Overall great value for the price. Exactly what I was looking for. High Sierra Abigail Tote Bag Backpack, Black

I purchased two of these bags on the 8th Feb and they were promptly delivered to my door in Australia by the 18th Feb. A 10 day delivery for an international destination is pretty fantastic!!! Back to the bags themselves!! I couldn't decide between the Black bag and the one with the Tree print, so I decided to be daring and get both!! What girl couldn't use an extra bag right?! Both are really well made, nicely lined with grey nylon lining fabric with handy mesh pockets, one for your drink bottle the other with a zip for keys, purse, whatever. The straps are just the perfect length for over the shoulder or to carry by your side. The size is perfect not too big not to small, just right!!. There is also a large pocket on the outside if the bag which will be very handy. The Black bag is made from a nicer nylon fabric which has a self pattern all over like tiny honeycomb, you cannot see this in the photos, but it makes the bag just that bit nicer than the bag with the tree pattern, not that there is anything wrong with it. If I had just ordered the Tree patterned bag I would have been just as happy, now I have two lovely bags I can alternate on different days..

I wanted to use this as a swimming bag for my daughter. It is just big enough and can hold

a change of clothes and towel as well as a shampoo bottle in a small inside pocket.

There is also a separate pocket for earplugs, keys and the likes. It still has space left to hold

another towel! The flat, wide outside pocket can hold a small book for me to read.

I bought the blueprint cartoon clouds and it is true to color and lovely.

The material feels waterproof and is nice with a matte sort of finish.

Good purchase from Amazon. Item arrived on time in good packaging.

I was looking for a good bag to bring my lunch, papers, and misc. stuff to work and also durable enough to clean if I spill something liquid. This is PERFECT! I got the black and white design, and it is so cute. I would use it as my purse, too. It's perfect if you're prone to spilling things, too, since it's nylon/polyester. I can wipe it down and not worry about stains.

I use this bag to transport things back and forth for my daughter's daycare. But, I find myself using on the weekend as a general tote bag as well. It has a mesh pocket for a bottle and is nice and roomy for her things. I bought the White & Black Trees & it looks gorgeous in person. The picture does not do it justice! I was also pleasantly surprised that it had a flat, large pocket in the front underneath the logo.

Overall, wonderful tote bag. Good construction! Good value for under $20!

I bought this bag to use as my purse during the school year so that I can toss in my notebooks for the day and go. I foresee it being a great multi-purpose bag! I do wish it had more pockets and maybe a zipper or velcro closing, but it has more pockets than most tote bags I've seen. It stands up well on its own with what I carry in it (wallet, notebooks, binders, cosmetic bags, water bottle...)I'm especially pleased that the water bottle pouch is suitably deep to fit any of my water bottles (except it would be too narrow for a Nalgene). I bought the garden/leaf green one and the design is even cuter in person! - Travel - Women - Tote Bag - Tote'

Patricia Walden - yoga dvd, yoga for beginners

I originally purchased this in VHS format. This is a very good program for absolute beginners, as I was when I started with it. However, even after using the program frequently enough that I have literally memorized it, I find that I enjoy it enough that I continue using it almost daily, although I now also have other sources of instruction. The program does progress slowly and does not focus much on the breathing, although there are breathing cues given at specific points. However, for someone who is just beginning to explore yoga, slowness is a benefit, not a drawback, and there is enough to worry about when trying to align the poses correctly without also worrying about trying to breathe in a specific manner, and the Iyengar yoga style in general reserves breath control beyond just trying to remember to breathe regularly and evenly for people above the raw beginner level. Patrica Walden does a very good job of explaining the basics for each pose, and if you read the booklet which comes with the DVD or the tape, you get a much more detailed description of each pose, as well as suggested modifications and suggested variations to try on your own. At first, if you are anything like I was (in pretty decent shape, relatively young - ok, 31 when I started with it - and not overweight but not the most flexible person on earth either), you will WANT the slowness, because you will be very tired, sore, and out-of-breath in between poses. Once you begin working more comfortably in the poses, you can use the fast-forward and skip buttons on the DVD remote in order to speed up the program and make things faster and more of a workout. Plus, the poses selected are a very good set of basic poses, primarily standing poses, and they quickly begin to build up your strength and flexibility, which makes the program a very good program to begin with. Also, almost all of the poses can be done entirely without props, although they will likely help, and the props which you will likely want can be fairly easily substituted with household items (i.e., blocks, a strap, and a chair), unlike some of the other beginner programs I have seen which utilize large bolsters in addition to blocks and a strap. In fact, I recommend this particular program so highly that I recently gave it to my own mother when she expressed an interest in exploring yoga, and I have recommended it to several friends. A complementary DVD is Yoga Basics, also by Patricia Walden, which gives more seated poses and twists. Although there is some overlap with this DVD, the two are worth having together. As for the bonus Yoga for Flexibility program, I thought it was made fairly clear that those poses are fairly advanced ones not intended for beginners, but I like having the program on the DVD because it gives me something else to work with once I have become more of a master of the other poses.I do recommend getting this program on DVD rather than VHS, especially with good single-disc DVD players down way under the $... mark and cheap adapters available at Radio Shack for those of us with elderly TVs. The DVD makes the program easier to fast-forward through when you are ready to work at a faster pace, and I wore the video tape just about out after using it nearly every day for months. Yoga for Beginners

I've taken a few Iyengar yoga classes, so the material on this DVD wasn't new to me. If you are interested in getting started with yoga I would suggest taking an instructor-led class, as the instructor will be able to give you immediate feedback on your poses. Trying to copy what an expert is doing on TV is difficult at best, and you could end up hurting yourself.

Having said that, I found this to be the best DVD on yoga among the ones I've seen. Even the short opening sequence where Ms. Walden does a series of poses in Death Valley is worth watching on its own. I found her to be a good instructor, not too spacey but also warm and pleasant to watch. Don't miss the bonus interview with Patricia, as she gives some good pointers about maintaining a practice.

If you've never done yoga before, you might find some of her instructions bizarre, like "Soften the throat". In my Iyengar yoga class several years ago the instructor said the same things, so when I heard Patricia repeat them I realized that this is part of the Iyengar program. And I've also discovered that many of the seemingly odd comments are actually useful for making yourself aware of what your body is telling you, even after the session is over.

At first I was a little put off by the extended instruction given during the exercises, which others have pointed out makes this not a workout DVD at all. I disagree--you can either skip over those parts or continue holding the pose while the instruction is going on. This is something you would have to experience during a beginner class anyway, so get used to interruptions when you're first getting started.

Also, don't expect to be able to do the poses exactly the way the instructor does them (or even close). Find your own limits and don't push yourself too hard to go beyond them. This is not a competition; it's about relaxing and feeling good about yourself, no matter what your ability level.

In short, don't expect Patricia's DVD to answer all your questions about yoga, but it's a useful tool that you can use to increase your flexibility, calm your nerves, and improve your life. Namaste.

This DVD contains two yoga programs that have been reviewed in VHS format: *Yoga Journal's Yoga for Beginners *Yoga Journal's Yoga for Flexibility. The Yoga for Beginners DVD is loaded with over 3 hours of content. The DVD format provides flexibility in using the programs for practice - fixing one of the complaints reviewers had with the VHS format of the program. For example, the programs have sub-menus that allow you to skip the prologues (i.e. Patricia Walden practicing backbends in Death Valley) and there's a section of the DVD main menu that allows you to choose poses to practice without watching the entire program. Yoga for Flexibility and a nice interview with Patricia Walden are located in the "Bonus" menu of the DVD. There's also a booklet that describes each pose demonstrated in Yoga for beginners. All in all this is an excellent introduction to Yoga practice and a lot of programming at an extraordinarily reasonable price. - Yoga Dvd - Yoga For Beginners - Beginners Yoga - Iyengar Yoga'

Dewalt Battery

A friend has converted me to a Dewalt believer over the last few years. And I've always loved his 18V cordless drill. When I spotted this set on sale I couldn't pass it up!

The drill is a 3 speed, 3 mode, adjustable clutch, locking keyless chuck MONSTER of a cordless drill. Three selectable speed ranges lets you maximize availble torque to suit material and application. I have mine in the middle range which suits most applications. Three modes: Screw, Drill, Hammer... The screw mode engauges the clutches to avoid stripping your heads. With 23 clutch settings I think you'll find the right one for your fasteners. Drill mode disengauges the clutches and lets you run your bits without changing your clutch setting. The final mode is Hammer Drill mode for masonry drilling. You gotta love that! I've never seen a keyless chuck that works like this. Holding the cylinder and turnin the chuck unlocks it then spinning the cylinder will tighten or loosen the jaws. Once the jaws are tight, turn the chuck again to lock. NICE! I couldn't be happier with this drill!!!

Also in this set are two 18V XRP DC9096 Ni-Cad batteries and a one hour charger. The packs aren't that much larger than the 15.6V I'm used to with my previous drill but definitely offer much more power. They are heavy but not so much that you care. The one hour quick charger is mode protected to prevent over charging and even has an indicator to tell whether it's charging, complete, or even if their's a problem with the battery. One word about your batteries...keep them charged ALL OF THE TIME. Batteries tend to devlop issues if they'll left in discharged state. Fully charged batteries will have better overall performance and a longer life. I just put mine on the charge every month or so to top them off.

6.5" Circular Saw. I haven't cut anything with it yet but I have an up and coming project involving 1/2" ply, 2x4s, 2x6s, and 4x4 porch spindles. I'll let you know how it did. As for the physics of it. It feels like a beast. A good heavy motor and cast body. It has a nice lever lock for the depth adjustment and nob lock for for the angle.

Reciprocating Saw... Again haven't cut anything with it yet, but soon. It feels good in the hand. With a pack inserted it feels about the same weight as my 7.5amp Craftsman. I have high hopes for this little beauty.

4" Angle Grinder... This and the price difference were the reasons I went with this set over the 4 tool set. I caught this one on sale and the difference was less than $50. I wasn't sure how this thing was going to work but man am I impressed. It comes with one thin cutoff wheel and it does DAMAGE. I used it to cut some 1.25" x 1/8" thick angle steel to length. It went thru it nearly as fast as my 7" 13 amp grinder. You can feel the torque! The safty sroud is fully adjustable for the best angle with a lever tensioner. The stablizer handle can be mounted on either the right or left side. There's not much more to say about it. Great for those little jobs and in tight spaces.

On to the "what's with this?" category. The impact driver I'm not as impressed with but then I wasn't expecting much or even really to use it. I thought I read somewhere it puts out 400 in-lbs of torque. I'm not even sure it this converts but assuming there's not some strange law of physics I'm unaware of that's something like 33-ft-lbs? Okay... But I suppose if your lazy or you have TON of little bolts to take off that are rusted on, then maybe...

Update 4-28-2011: I recently installed a full glass storm door on my parent's house. I used the drill to pre-drill the three dozen or so holes in the project. I finally figured out that the impact driver has a locking collet and is actaully a "impacting" screw gun. And surprisingly it works really well. It made short work of this project and I had NO...NOT ONE issue with rounding my screw heads. All-in-all VERY impressed!

The light is...well a light. Though I can say it's strong and bright! Honestly, I would prefer LED just because I hate wasting my battery power on these little portable space heaters. Seriously, if your cold stand in front of this thing for a minute, it'll warm you up. That said if power's no where to be found, this will light up your little corner of the universe.

It comes also with a nylon bag that once closed is just about busting with your new toys. It's not really heavy duty nylon but at the same time it should be fine. It also comes with a few accessories. As I mensioned before a single 4" cutoff wheel for your grinder. It also comes with one 16 tooth carbide blade for your circular saw and a tool to install it.

All in all, the price is amazing and so is this set. If you casual hobbist or a professional contractor you should be equaly impressed. These are battery tools and as such aren't going to be as strong or reliable as your bigger corded models. But trust me, if for no other reason than sake of ease, these will be the ones I grab first. DEWALT DCK655X 18-Volt XRP 6 Tool Combo Kit with Impact Driver

I originally wanted a Makita set but the price on the Dewalt was too good. Having used Makita for years I'm super impressed with the Dewalt gear, the light built into the drivers is brilliant, power is great, function is top notch. The angle grinder is surprisingly powerful as is the circular saw, and the light which folds out on it's gooseneck is perfect for late night BBQ's!

I come from a Makita family and had always planned on getting a Makita tool set. While I was at Home Depot these power tools were on sale, and my wife surprised me with them. It has been over 2 years and I am so glad she did. I love (LOVE) my Dewalt power tool set. I use the drill most frequently (of course) but I can't even count how many times the grinder has been the perfect tool for whatever job I have been working on. I try and take care of my stuff, but I have dropped my tools several times and they still work great. This has been such a great purchase and I absolutely recommend them to anyone.'

Cordless Drills - 18v, drill

I'm a contractor and our company specializes in erecting condos so we are more than familiar with our power tools. When I first started my job I invested in this DeWalt drill since EVERYONE has one. After using it for a while I feel that it is not all that it is hopped up to be, the battery life sucks and I had to replace the battery after a couple months because it stopped holding its charge. After trying out others I would recommend Makita for the price and performance, also do stay away from Ryobi that brand of power tools is a joke (I would get it for my learning teen but not for professional use). DEWALT DC720KA Cordless 18-Volt Compact Drill/Driver

As a matter of full disclosure, I am using this drill as a DIY homeowner on minor projects. This drill was my upgrade into the world of pro-grade power tools from a cheapo 14.4V Black & Decker drill. I upgraded primarily because I was frustrated by having to drill pilot holes for lag screws all the time due to the lack of power. Furthermore, my former so-called variable speed drill only had two speeds, namely 400 or 800 rpm, nothing in between so I was constantly stripping screw heads. After doing some serious research into Makita, Milwaukee, Hitachi, and Dewalt, I chose Dewalt. Why? Because of the power and construction of the tool. Dewalt uses its own measurement of torque (Unit Watts Out) whereas most other companies list max torque in ft-lbs. In my opinion, I best equate UWO to the amplifier rating in audio receivers. In receivers, many companies list their amplifier rating with only one channel driven. Rarely do companies list amplifier rating with all channels driven. UWO, to me, is Dewalt's real world sustained torque rating like all channels driven in an amplifier. So for this drill, although Dewalt lists it at 410 UWO, I think this probably equates to nearly peak torque of at least 450 ft lbs if not more. Also, I really liked the fact that Dewalt uses all-metal gears and it has solid magnet construction in its motor.

For whatever reason, although most companies have wholeheartedly embraced the Lion technology, Dewalt has chose to slowly move into it and, thus, still has a large portion of tools with NiCd batteries. I really debated about the whole NiCd v Lion thing. But really, for my purposes, I doubt I will be using the drill so much that I will use up 2 batteries. I really think having a back-up battery negates the charge time issue. Of course there's the weight issue, but again, for me, a difference in weigh of 6-8 oz is not a game breaker.

The closest drill to the DC720KA was the Hitachi DS18DSAL. Really solidly constructed drill with good power. Unfortunately, from a purely superficial standpoint, the Hitachi looks like a toy with the green molding. So I went with the Dewalt. In terms of real world performance, really happy so far. Was able to drill 2" long - 1/8" dia. screws into studs without a pilot, no problem. This sucker has power. Really like the LED light. The added heft of the NiCd gives the drill really good balance. Trigger felt right and was able to modulate speed very accurately (true variable speed!). I hope this review helps because other reviews just seem to spout off Dewalt sucks or "it's not lithium so it sucks" type comments.

I bought one of these about 6 months ago, used it and gave away to my brother in-law.

A week ago I bought a Ridgid R86007N which is identical to the DeWalt DC720KA except here is where the Rigid beats the DeWalt in all categories.

(1) Tested driving large screws into 2x4's The Rigid was able to sink the screw deeper with less effort.

(2) The Rigid is lighter by 1 lb. Less Hand fatigue.

(3) The Ridgid is more compact and smaller with more power.

(3) The Rigid uses a 18V Lithium-Ion Battery instead of a 18V Ni-Cad Battery. There no comparison between the Lithium-Ion which leaves a Ni-Cad in the dust. It has more power, lasts longer and takes shorter time to charge.

(4) The DeWalt has 3 or 5 year warranty. The Ridgid has a life-time Warranty.

For a manufacture to give a Life-time warranty speaks for itself in the confidence of quality in the product.

(5) There other minor advantages, but the con is, the Ridgid doesn't come with a Case. So I bought 2ea Husky cases for $9.98 a pair, while on sale.

Both the DeWalt and the Ridgid were on Sale for $99.00 ea. at Home Depot (2010 after Black Friday sale). I don't know how long the sale will last. Even though I have a workshop full of both DeWalt & Ridgid tools I feel one should give credit when credit is due.

This drill is exactly what I was looking for, small, relatively light, and has lots of power. The light onthe front is a great feature and the one handed chuck is great. It also uses my 18v XBR batteries as well...a nice feature if you are going to take it out somewhere.

The Drill is OK and my husband liked it OK. However, when I called the vendor and asked for specifics I was told it was a Lithium battery and on that basis I ordered it. When it came, it was a Nikad battery instead which is heavier. I was very disappointed. The drill itself is well made but I was not happy with the misinformation given me. I would not have purchased it if I had known. When I went back on-line to see what happened, I saw on the info sheet of the product that it said Nikad, but in the phone conversation in comparing various tools, I took good notes and I had specifically asked the rep if it was lithium which he said it WAS. Not good communication on his part or truthful. :( Service I would give only one star.

Bought this for my farmer/trucker husband who has no tools actually at the house because they're all on the truck or at the farm! Comes in super handy for all the curtains & pictures we've hung as well as putting together furniture, fixing bathroom fans, etc. Came with extra battery pack & carrying case: AWESOME! Great price too! - Drill - 18 Volt - 18v - Dewalt'

Ipod Accessory - kindle games, word games

Most of us grew up playing this game in some form or fashion - I can remember being in the back of the car on a long trip with a large pad of paper with a 100 square grid playing with my sister. We were usually good to be a little more quiet for ten minutes or so until one or the other would get frustrated with losing, or gloating a little too much with winning.

This game is pretty basic, with a 4 x 4 grid no matter what level you choose (easy, medium, hard): it would be nice if you could get a 10 x 10 grid, as the 4 x 4 grid goes really fast. I didn't find too much of a difference in the computer's level of play between the medium and the hard version. The speed of the game, in terms of how fast does the computer move as well as you being able to make your next move, is pretty good as compared to some of the other games I've played on the Kindle.

If you're looking for a quick "get away" game for your Kindle, you're probably going to like this and the price (free) is certainly worth it. Go ahead and pick it up and give it a try! Dots and Boxes

This game is fun and just like the one I played as a kid (and with my kids). I played my first few games on Medium against the computer and won them all fairly easily. Then I tried the Hard setting. Wow! The Kindle is really smart and very tricky. I played 3 or 4 games on Hard and haven't been able to beat the Kindle yet. I must say, it's a little frustrating.

All games are in a grid 5 dots across and 5 dots down, making for 4 boxes x 4 boxes. It would be fun to be able to play on a larger grid, but navigation might get difficult if the grid was too much bigger (thus making the boxes, dots, and lines smaller to fit on the screen). Navigation and game play is fairly simple and easy to get used to with instructions at the bottom of the screen to let you know what to do to select a line to draw. You use your arrows on the 5-way controller to arrow over to the box you want to draw the line in. The boxes are clearly outlined so there is no question what box you are playing. Once you are in the box you want, you select it by pushing the middle of your 5-way controller. Then arrows are displayed inside the box, showing you which lines are available for you to draw. You then arrow in the direction of the line you want to draw and the line is drawn. It's that simple. If you close a box, your "symbol" (either an elephant or a lion) is put in your box.

You can choose a 2 player pass and play version but i haven't tried that yet.

All in all this is a simple but fun game. Kids would like it especially on the easy or medium 1 player settings. Most definitely worth it for free!

Just like the paper version, however only a 4x4 square. Play against the computer or with 2 players. Keeps a running tally of victories. Great for playing with young kids. Very quick response unlike some Kindle games. The Price is Right! $0.00.

I feel that this game makes very good use of the controls on the Kindle. It uses the five-point cursor in order for the player to select a slot to place a line. First, you use the five-way controller to select the "box" you want to place a stick, then you select whether you want to place the "stick" on the north, south, east, or west part. Due to the comfortable interface, it makes the game fun and easy to play.

My only concern is this game might get boring after a while if it is too easy, otherwise it's a very enjoyable game which makes good use of the buttons on the Kindle.

It's free, it's fun, and it makes you think about the moves you make. After three or four games, I finally tied the Kindle on Hard. After the fifth or sixth game, I finally won. A fun and challenging game, I only wish the board could be bigger.

This fun little game is an amazing throwback to my childhood. Who didn't play this at some point as a kid when you should've been paying attention in class? In this game, you are trying to close the majority of boxes before your opponent can. You can play against the computer, or another person on the same Kindle. This is a great for passing a few minutes - I have played it several times when waiting to walk out the door for work. And it's free!

I never played this game as a kid, and after reading the reviews that others played it as a kid, I'm starting to wonder if I lived a sheltered life.

Regardless, the game is pretty cool - trying to beat the Kindle is a bit difficult - at Medium level, I'm getting beat regularly, but it makes for a nice distraction from reading. It would also make for a good game with kids that are say, under 8 (versus the other Amazon games) because it doesn't involve cards or gambling, but non-threatening lions and elephants.

It's free, so if you don't like it, then delete it. It's hard to argue with the value of something that's free.

My 6 year old son and I downloaded this and were instantly yelling out loud "lion" and "elephant." The game is faster and funner than paper. The graphics are georgeous. A great lead in to our reading time... Maybe a little "Life of Pi" Thank you.

This is a great game since I was little. My dad was the first one to teach me and now they made agame of this on the Kindle. This is a good game to pass the time. You can play with your friends or against the Kindle. You will never get bored of this or at least I don't. I remember playing against my dad and how he used to let me win but, now that I'm older he tries to win but sometimes he can't. I now play with my sister an it's getting difficult because we know a lot of little tricks to get the other one stuck. You can even learn tricks to get the Kindle stuck too. You will enjoy this game a lot. I sometimes play against my mom. I haven't bet her yet but, some day I will.Playing against my brother was easy but, playing against the Kindle was a lot harder if your playing difficult/hard. For one thing it's free and another thing its a great game to play. - Word Games - Kindle Active Content - Kindle Games - Games'

Automatic Self Wind - stuhrling, automatic self wind

I recently found myself needing to replace my trusty 10 yr old Seiko Kinetic. I have always enjoyed watches and rely on them so this was not a hasty purchase. After many hours of hunting and research I finally decided to buy the Stuhrling Original Raven Diablo (Silvertone) from Amazon. So far this has turned out to be an excellent decision and I am extremely pleased.

I had no specific brand in mind when I began my research-I simply wanted an affordable timepiece that met the following criteria:

-automatic mechanical movement

-rubber adjustable strap

-water resistance

-luminescent hands and markers

-quality crystal

-interesting (might as well enjoy it too, right?)

It is very clear to me that Stuhrling Original aims to make the purchase of a new watch a special event for the "common man". This was clear to me before the watch was even out of the box as the packaging is very nicely done. Not necessary, but certainly appreciated.

The movement thus far has proven to be very accurate and lost only 11 seconds the first 24 hrs and only 2-7 seconds over each 24 hr period since-excellent accuracy for a mechanical watch out of the box and better than I could have hoped for. The black silicone-like rubber strap is robustly built, very soft, flexible and "grabby" so the strap keepers actually work. I am extremely happy with the readability in the dark. My concerns in this area were put to rest the first night when after only 2 hrs out-of-box in moderate household lighting the hands and markers were still very visible following 8 hrs sleep.

The watch is very ruggedly built and I feel that the quality is outstanding for the price paid. I have received many comments on the watch and find myself looking at it more often than is really necessary. I definitely like the fact that it's a skeleton, and the moving parts are visible. There are a lot of nicely done details and I especially like the use of skeleton-ized carbon fiber on the dial and the black PVD coated case. I should also note that the bezel has a finely brushed stainless steel appearance and is shinier than what appears in some of the photos.

One potential drawback for some is the fact that this is NOT a small watch and with the grippy nature of the strap can create issues when donning/wearing tighter long sleeves. A minor issue for me, but one worth being aware of.

Time will tell in regards to durability and longevity of the watch but I am expecting good things. I'm extremely happy with this purchase to this point and feel that this timepiece is an excellent value. Stuhrling Original Men's 179A.331613 Sportsman 'Raven Diablo' Automatic Watch

Always have thought of Stuhrling watches as a bit of a joke but I couldn't ignore the design of this piece. It is a stunnin, skeleton movement in the vain of Bell & Ross watches and a fraction of the price. I own Tags and Omegas and this easily holds its own in terms of presence and design.

For $200 whats not to love?

To the service department of sturling,

July 14, 2009, I purchased a Sturling Raven Diablo watch. This past February I sent in my to be serviced because something seemed to be loose in the movement. Keep in mind, the watch was not even 1 year old and was returned to me 4 weeks later, fixed? Today October 8, 2010, to my surprise, my watch stopped working and when I pulled the pin to set the watch before winding, the pin came all the way out and the watch still does not work after manually winding it. !!! This is disappointment and unfortunately reflects badly on your product line. I am afraid to send in my timepiece because I should not waste another $20.00 and the fear that something else will go wrong.

I cannot in good faith every buy a sturling product or recommend one to someone looking for a quality timepiece.

Sincerely,

Todd Shrager

So apparently I got mine as it is being phased out. I had to spend about 20 minutes on Google searching for a site that still had black in stock. Amazon has the black/silver, but I just like the all-black better and it was worth the search for me. That being said, if the all-black was totally gone and I had to get the silver/black, I'd still be happy as a pig in slop. First, the watch is clearly a "knock-off" of the Bell & Ross. One big difference: this watch costs 5% or less of what the B&R costs. So, is it the same quality? No. Is it the same fit and finish? No. But it's sure as heck a lot more than 5% of the quality and fit and finish. Probably closer to 50% fo the quality and 60-65% of the fit and finish. So the way I see it, I got $2,000 worth of watch for $200. I'll take that. This watch is big and relatively heavy, but I am surprised at how comfortable it is on my wrist. Since I have not had it long, I cannot speak to the durability, but for now I am extremely happy.

DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS!!!

I am a watch collector and own several rare watches that i treasure. I was looking for something special. I always thought i wanted a watch with carbon fiber, but i was not impressed with what is offered on the market. Prices for Carbon Fiber-faced watches seem to range between the $500 - $15,000 range. But that wasn't the main issue for me. The main issue is how to you blend the Carbon Fiber with the technical aspect of an Automatic Watch? How to bring something Traditional and Modern together? I never liked the solutions i saw from Firms such as OMEGA, TAG HEUER, RAYMOND WEIL, BELL&ROSS, PANERAI, but to name a few....then i saw this watch! UNBELIEVABLE!! so beautiful in every detail. The pictures do not do this watch justice! I chose this version with the aluminum because it looked very technical and sporty and i liked the contrast. I love every detail of this watch. My personal preference is to have a leather band, as i do not like Rubber Straps. But, once again, even the Rubber Strap of this watch is special... it isn't a one-dimentional strap. It has detail, depth, character. It looks like the strap was chiseled out of a solid block of rubber. I really must say, the detail level on this watch is extraordinary. Even the screws that fasten down the crown have a special 'S' pattern to them that i did not notice before. The box and presentation (packaging) of this watch is also of the highest level.

I would have paid much more for this watch.

Not that it is important to me, but everyone that sees this watch asks me about it.... much more then my Omega's on Panerai watches that i own. - Skeleton Watch - Stuhrling - Automatic Self Wind - Awesome Watch'
