Makita Battery - charger, drill

I got this charger to replace a similar (though, not identical) Makita charger. I never knew a charger could simply stop working -- but, mine did. The old charger appeared to be working, but the batteries were not really being charged. The green light would come on, supposedly indicating that the battery was fully charged. If I removed the battery from the charger and replaced it in the charger immediately, the charging light would return to red (indicating that the battery still required charging.) At first, I thought the batteries were "bad". So, I disposed of them and got new batteries. But, new batteries also would not charge. (I even returned new batteries, thinking they were defective.) So, I decided the problem might be the charger. And, yes, it was the charger. It did not "go bad" all of a sudden. It apparently "went bad" gradually. I had no idea that the charger could stop working. It was not dropped or banged around, etc. There was no obvious event that occurred to make the charger stop working. So, Lesson Learned. Chargers apparently can simply stop working. Makita DC1414 Battery Charger

Three out of four old batteries (10 years or so) worked again after laying around unused for three years or so. Cleaned the contacts and conditioned them - a couple quit charging after 5 minutes and drained to nothing right away, then re-charged and was finally able to get at least 50% use out of them. The one new battery I charged worked like a charm. Good value & fast shipping.

This is the one. This charger does all that the product detail says it does. You just plug the charger in, the power light flashes and then you plug in your battery to charge. Status lights inform you of the battery condition. The charger even tells you when to replace your battery. Best deal. (Purchased at Amazon.com)

My old DC9000 charger died sent for this one DC1414 but got DC1804T Which is even better can charge up to 18V. Thank You Red's Supply, Helps me get back to work and got it shipped very fast Thanks again

I needed a replacment charger for my Makita cordelss drill and this does the job. There were other more expensive chargers that maybe had an extra bell or whistle but i only needed to get my batteries charged. For the price, this works.

I bought this charger to replace an old worn out charger. I didn't realize the old charger was bad until bought new battery and wouldn't charge. The lithium ion batteries charge quickly and hold a good solid charge. The older ni cads charge again but obviously don't have the capacity of the lithium ions. This is a great replacement for the original charger and seems to work better (faster) than the original.

I bought this after reading a review that stated it brought his old batteries back to life! I thought this would be worth the try since I have the older drill with Nicd batteries and Nicd charger. The newer charger will charge the old Nicd and the new Nimh. If you buy new batteries you will have to have a charger also to charge them. SO I bought the charger first and it worked! I recharged my old batteries and they seem to work like before. Also, when the Nicd's die I can buy the new Nimh and I have the charger already. Plus the charger is cheaper than 1 Nimh battery. win win!

The condition is listed as "New" for this product. However when I received the charger it was very apparent it was used/refurbished. The charger itself works great. I need a second one but will order it from another seller. - Drill - Charger - Cordless - Chargers'

Highly Recommended - 790cc, braun

I've accumulated quite a few electric razors over the years, with the three most recent being the new models from Norelco, Braun and Panasonic. So, thought I'd do a comparison to perhaps help those who are debating between these high-end models.

But first let's get a basic question out of the way: do you have to spend this much to get a good shave from an electric shaver? Absolutely not. Lower-end models such as the Braun Series 5, the 7000 and 8000 Norelco series and the Panasonic ArcIV are great shavers. What you get for the extra money is a slight improvement in the shave, a bit better design, and a few somewhat useful bells and whistles.

Build quality - all are very nicely put together. The Braun feels the most substantial; the 3D feels the most "plasticy."

Sound - the 3D runs very quietly; the Braun and Panasonic are far more "buzzy" but not too loud.

Overall feel - for me, the Braun feels the most comfortable to hold. Easy to grip even if your hands are wet. The Panasonic is a close second. The 3D feels the most awkward. Not horrible, but not all that comfortable either.

Dry shave: closeness - this is a tough call, with the Braun and the Panasonic both providing very close shaves. The 3D does a pretty good job, but my face does not feel as smooth as with the others.

Dry shave: speed - the 3D is the clear winner here. Just mows through my beard, with a total shave time of less than 3 min. The Panasonic takes about 4 min for a good shave; the Braun clocks in at about 5 min.

Dry shave: neck - this is the most difficult area for most shavers, and all of these models left a few errant hairs here and there. The 3D did the best but it comes at the expense of some irritation (see the next note). The Braun and Panasonic are about equal.

Dry shave: comfort - Braun is the winner for me, followed by the Panasonic. Zero redness even in the more sensitive spots (jaw line and neck). The 3D left me with some red spots on my neck. Nothing severe, but it is clearly a notch below the others on the comfort meter.

Wet shave - this is limited to just the Panasonic and the 3D. I'm not a big fan of wet shaving, but both of these do a very good job. The Panny works best with a very thin layer of gel-type cream; the 3D works best with a heavier lather (I got good results with Edge). Both provided close shaves, with the Panny a bit more gentle than the 3D. But, the 3D did a better job on the neck and jaw line.

**Update: Just tried the new Remington Alphagel shaving cream and that works very well with both the Panny and the Norelco. The scent is a bit heavy (menthol) but the no-foam consistency is a perfect match for a wet electric shave. Much better than any other shave cream I've tried. I reviewed the Alphagel if you want more info.

Maneuverability - this is where the Braun really shines for me. I have a mustache, and edging it with the Braun is a piece of cake. The 3D takes some practice, but it can do a decent job. Worst by far was the Panasonic - the huge head makes it very hard to create a clean edge around the `stash.

Auto cleaning - I love the cleaning station from Braun. Works well, cleans well, and the razor comes out lemony-fresh. The Panasonic cleaning station is OK, but is louder, takes longer, and the water-based cleaning solution is not as effective. I can't comment on the 3D station since the model I bought didn't come with it.

Manual cleaning - both the Panasonic and 3D are very easy to clean manually. They actually don't need the auto cleaning station (although it is handy for storage for the Panny). The cutters are removable from the 3D (unlike the Arcitec models) for extra cleaning every so often. The Braun can be cleaned with water, but it's hard to get it very clean since the cutter block is a single unit.

Lots more that I could say about these razors, but this review is already way too long. If I had to pick just one, I'd go with the Braun. While not perfect, it excels in several areas and feels the best. It also offers three settings (gentle, normal and intensive) that vary the speed of the cutters, a feature the other two lack. I find that very helpful. Plus, replacement heads are easily available and often discounted (as are the cleaning cartridges). But, the 3D and the Panasonic are also very good shavers and will get the job done. If you are willing to spend the money, any one of these would be a good choice.

Note: I have the Braun 790cc-4 since I was able to get it at a fantastic price (on another site - sorry Amazon!) on Black Friday. But, under normal pricing situations, the 760 is cheaper and a better value. They work the same, with the differences limited to color of the razor, type of read-out on the handle, and the fact that the 760 lacks the "quick clean" feature in the cleaning station. None of these are really significant, so if you go with the Braun, pick the one that is cheaper.

But, you have to learn how to use an electric razor properly to get a good shave. Some quick tips:

1) Don't press hard - use an easy touch. If the heads are getting warm or hot, you're pressing too hard.

2) Shave against the grain when using a foil; shave in circular motions when using a rotary.

3) Stretch your skin taut when shaving your neck

4) Wait at least an hour after getting up before shaving (everyone's face gets a bit puffy when sleeping).

Happy shaving! Braun Series 7- 790cc Pulsonic Shaver System, Silver

I've had a top of the line Braun 8000 series (8595) for about 6+ years. It just started to fail recently - I didn't feel like trying another replacement foil/blade and after over 2,000 shaves - I guess it's hard to complain. If this new one lasts the same duration, then it will be well worth the money for just over $0.12 per day plus consumables (cleaning solution & replacement foils).

I opened this new shaver morning (790-CC4), charged it, and started using it. I like the variable setting (3-steps) for mild to intense. I like the feel of it and although the display is less sophisticated than my old one, this one might be more practical in usage. It has a Li-Ion battery and so is a bit lighter, and seems well-constructed.

The real test is the shave - and this is the best result I've ever had from shaving with an electric. On rare occasions I'll use a blade for a special occasion and a blade is usually much closer than most electrics - but I've been okay with a slight sacrifice using an electric in the past. My face right now feels so shockingly smooth, I'd swear I shaved with a blade this morning... So the proof is in the pudding - and I'd wholeheartedly recommend this shaver if you're partial to electrics. - 790cc - Braun - Electric Razor - Pulsonic'

Reel - spinning reel, fishing equipment

This is a very smooth reel and I would have given this a 5 star rating except for two things, the item description and the included extra spool. The listing shows only one picture, but listed four different reel sizes but with no information to tell their actual size. I wanted a larger capacity reel and so I decided against the 20 and 30, and the next available size was the 60. This turned out to be a very large reel, and was not what I was looking for. Had the listing shown a separate picture for this reel or the description included the spool capacities for the different reels, I would not have selected this reel. Fortunately I have a very large catfish rod that can use this reel, but I still need the smaller reel. As to the extra spool, on the GUN 60, this is next to useless. One of the ball bearings is mounted in the main spool and helps make the drag very smooth. The extra spool does not have this ball bearing. In addition the space occupied by the line is approximately 1/4 inch longer on the extra spool, but the winder is designed for the main spool. This causes the line to wind up only on the rear of the spool, which then spills towards the front leaving the line wound very loosely. It would be better if they did not include this spool and reduced their price a buck or two. This may or may not be the case in the other size reels. One thing I noted which is not correct in this listing. It does not have 8 ball bearings, it has 7. The box lists the line roller as a bearing (7+1). This roller is mounted on one of the 7 ball bearings, so I don't understand how they can still call the roller a separate bearing.

Additional info: May 30, 2011,

I just received my newest Gunnison the 40 size. This is the perfect size for my 7 foot rod. Line capacities are as follows. 8/210 10/180 12/150 (lb/yds) This reel is slightly different in its ball bearing arrangement. It still has 7 ball bearings and the line roller mounted on one of the 7, however it has one less bearing in the gearing and two in the spool. The spare spool is only slightly longer the main spool and will probably work although I have not tried it. Like its big brother it has no ball bearing in the spare spool. This reel is still very smooth but does not seem as free as the bigger one. Eagle Claw Gunnison 8 BB Spinning Reel (Size 10)

This reel is not good...the pin holding the crank arm at the elbow falls out on mine..

The reel is made of plastic and flexes all over when reeling in, or maybe it is made of poo, that is what it feels like...The part that anchors the reel to the reel seat is made of flexible plastic... Overall it just sucks, it may seem smooth but only in the store when it has no line or rod attached to it... It does come with an extra plastic spool though... Pure crap... Did I mention that I hate this reel?... Waste of money, waste of space f#%@ this reel!

This is a very good reel.I was not familiar with the reel size specification (10, 20,30,etc) so I assumed the smaller number equaled the smaller reel. That proved correct. The reel was slightly stiff at the upper and lower end of travel, but the application of a little machine oil freed it up. I plan to purchase another Eagle Claw Gunnison 8 to use with my soon to be purchased 9' Crappie Hunter rod.

This real is one of the best reels I ever bought.I have been using is for only a month but it still works great the only thing I had trouble is the plastis is kind of cheap and with the berral that holds the string it was bird nesting I took some off and it works great I have put this reel in the water somany times to get the fish off the hook and it is water tight and smoth as the day I took it out of the box this is the reel that I would recomend

Bought the Size 10 a couple months ago for hard water fishing. It was so smooth I came back to get another, but this time moved up one notch to the Size 20. Needless to say, it's the same good quality and smooth as silk. The only really noticeable difference in physical characteristic is that the bail wire is about double the thickness of the size 10. No problem in my book! - Spinning Reel - Fishing Equipment'

Micro Pinner

I am an experienced finish carpenter & am VERY disappointed with this gun. Don't even think of using this gun to shoot 2" pins in any wood (not even pine). It will leave the nail sticking out every time. The only way it sets the nail is if you push hard while nailing which then leaves a dent in the material and renders the use of a 23ga nail pointless. They had the same problem with their 1" pinners & solved the it with a replacement driver that did fix the problem. I've spoken to other people who also have this gun & they have the same problem from day 1. The Grex is $100 more but well worth it. It effortlessly sinks the nails in! Senco FinishPro 11 23-Gauge Micro Pinner

I have used pinners before that only shoot up too 1 inch pins and loved them for small jobs. Since i bought this pinner i hardly use my brad nailer. The small pins will hold till the glue sets. I have allways had the pins set good, even with the 2 inch pins in hardwood. It is sold to only shoot 1"-2" but i have success with everything down too 3/8".

I do a lot of expensive natural moldings where the heads of fasteners are something needed but not to be seen. This pinner does a great job of securing the pieces during the glue / adhesive set times. The gun has plenty of power to shoot through just about every kind of wood, but as with all pinners, you need to be careful with the longer pins and hardwoods.

I did have a difficult time finding different sized pins when I first purchased it, but since then I've found a few good suppliers out there who stock just about every length.

im a professional carpenter and millwork installer. a 2" pin nailer is essential for an install that needs to be done fast with limited touchups to finish. i've used this senco gun everyday now for about 6 months and have been very happy with results. as stated above, it will occasionally leave head proud durring my compressors cycle but for the most part my customers cant even see where i nailed. this is good. i would have given it 5 stars but as of yesterday, durring a high pressure install, this gun decided to eject the base for the clip and all of the springs that push the brads into place for firing. this gun was far to new that BS.

This makes my fourth Senco nail gun. Took it out of the box and put some nails into wood. Performed flawlessly. I used nails as short as 5/8" even though it claims 1" is the shortest. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a 23 ga micropinner. My other guns are 18 ga brad, 15 ga finish and full round head framing. I am a hobbyist and don't use my nailers for production purposes, however I have never had one jam.'

Deal With The Devil - drama, movie

I guess I am just not as discerning, not as sophisticated, maybe just not as bright, or with it, or movie savvy as so many of the others who have taken the time to share their opinion of this movie. They would lead you to believe that your brain might turn to mush, that you may find yourself sitting in a corner drooling, perhaps beating yourself around the head for wasting the time and or money to pick up and watch this film.

Well I'm thankful that I am not like them, because I rather enjoyed it. I have yet to see a movie that is as bad as they make it out to be. Granted, "Hope Springs" is no "Citizen Kane", but then again it is no "Crimewave" (a 1985 movie that I think is the worst movie ever made). If you go into a romantic comedy expecting what most romantic comedies are, a pleasant diversion, then 99 times out of 100 you get what you expect. If you go in expecting high art, then you are bound for disappointment. Most the haters said they expected more out of Colin Firth and Minnie Driver. Many actors have made films that they are ashamed to include on their resumes, but I doubt that this is one of them. I personally would rather watch a movie like this than your run of the mill Tom Cruise $300M blockbuster that makes $100M on the 1st run (Colin Firth is an ACTOR, Tom Cruise is a movie star). Maybe they would have liked it more if some lesser actors were in it, but then they only watched it because of Driver and Firth, so they probably would not have watched it in the first place, and we then would not be having this conversation. I better wrap this up, I'm starting to confuse even myself.

Bottom line, I judge a movie on how I feel when it is over, when this was over I felt that I had spent an enjoyable 90 or so minutes and was glad I had taken the time to watch. Don't let the sophisticates scare you off, it was fun. Hope Springs

In BriefWhen British artist Colin Ware (Firth), discovers that his fiancée Vera (Driver), the love of his life, is going to marry another man he gets on a plane for America and ends up in a tiny town called Hope. Distraught, he soon finds more than a shoulder to cry on when his innkeepers introduce him to Mandy (Graham) a beautiful nurse. But no sooner has Colin forgotten about his old flame than Vera shows up. ReviewRomantic Comedies usually have that mix of candy floss content that makes you think you can eat a whole one, as how hard can it be to eat sugar whipped in air? Yet when you attempt it you realise that while there really isn't anything to it, you cant finish as its sickly sweet and forcing yourself to throw it away you are left feeling very unsatisfied. Now while that analogy may make you cringe you'll be thankful to know that Hope Springs certainly won't. Indeed this is one of those rare hybrid films that feature an Anglo-American crossover romance and succeeds in mixing sass and irony very well so that both sides of the Atlantic may appreciate its story. Following in the footsteps of Notting Hill and Four Weddings this slice of American apple pie sets the story in the ideally named small town of Hope, where a typically English gent (Firth) has escaped his long-term fiancée to find himself anew. Mandy (Graham) is the tonic everyman desires, and while its beginning to become a familiar story of estranged love finds new passion, both play their roles with a freshness that really lights up the screen. Steenburgen and Collison are perfect as the comedy cupids that help steer true love on its path. While the local residents of the small town all have a part to play in both hindering and helping the pairing of Mandy & Colin. Indeed, the local mayor played by Oliver Platt is a brilliant encapsulation of the small time business man turned big time thinker, and he brings a slightly toned down but nicely timed comic turn throughout. Like all romantic comedies the only major downside are their predictability. They all share the same fate, yet its an example of good filmmaking if the story can be remoulded as if to give the impression that its slightly original or at least engaging. Unfortunately Hope Springs is not original, but it does its job well and passes 90 minutes without temptation to make itself something far greater than it should be. The VerdictThis is the ABC of romance, told with such a sincerity by all members of the cast that you cant help but enjoy it. Colin Firth may have moved on from the wet shirt days of Pride & Prejudice and though he may no longer be Mr. Darcy I don't believe he will disappoint. A delightful pairing with Graham works well, and Hope Springs is enough to give anyone that 90 minute dream we all need sometimes.

Okay, first off this movie is not going to scream oscar winner but it's still a fun quirky movie with likeable characters. Yes, I'm a huge Colin Firth fan and no that's not why I'm not jumping on the bandwagon of bad reviews. Yes, the movie is a romantic comedy but I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it's predictable. Perhaps because I've not read the book that this movie was based on I did not come in with any kind of expectations. Who knows. I do recommend this movie as a nice way to spend a few hours.

I am an unapologetic Colin fan (much to my husband's chagrin) but even I feel the need to apologize for this one. If you cannot wait for Love Actually or Girl w/a Pearl Earring(the DVD is gonna be cooler than the movie with the 'lost' scenes from the book that a lot of us "firth-ites" were looking for! but I digress!) you would be much better served by purchasing some of the lesser-known films of Firth! Go get Fever Pitch (order from amazon.canada to get the more tastefull cover) or A Month in the Country w/Ken Brannaugh (bonus!) or if you are intrepid, obtain an Hour of the Pig/Advocate (both titles are the same movie. Even the absurd fantastical Mike Binder film Londinium/Fourplay is better. The problem is the book is quirky and a great deal of changes were made from book to screenplay. Things get muddled and the principle explanation for why he chose America is lost. Plus, to make the town in to Hope they lost the New Cardiff-old Cardiff Vera connection that explains out a lot more of the ridiculous points. Let's all hope that Richard Curtis does a better translation of BJ2 Edge of Reason...since missing from BJD was the whole rescue/Pride & Prejudice parallel with Darcy saving the family from disgrace. It would have been awesome! (Colin quite literally going around the world for you ending up with a chase where he's all unkempt and dishevelled....mmm) Anyways...I own this disc and have watched more than once. It really is very fluffy and silly. But since my collection also incudes Master of the Moor and Apartment Zero, I'm going for the complete over quality thing. Bottom line is Colin is always awesome even when paired with Heather Graham. To sum up: spend no money here... Instead: BJD, Fever Pitch(highly recommend!), P&P (of course!), English Patient(why would she...???), Tumbledown, Nostromo, Valmont, Donovan Quick, Hour of the Pig/Advocate, or save up for Love Actually & Girl w/pearl earring! Also remember Trauma and BJ2 coming to theaters soon! - Movie - Drama - Immortal - Deal With The Devil'

Eye Protection

I love these sunglasses. I wear hard contacts. The wind and dust usually bother me. With these glasses, I totally enjoyed my recent outdoor vacation. Note that the frame size is a bit compact. It fit nicely on my smaller face. Mask Wide Wrap Around Polycarbonate Sunglasses

Not much to say here. The sunglasses are inexpensive but functional. Side arms are solid black (you can't really tell from the picture). The screw brackets are just inside my periphery, which is suboptimal but still better than most sunglasses.'

Complete Crap - complete crap, case

This is literally the CHEAPEST (quality, not price) item I've ever bought on Amazon. I just got a lovely iPod Touch after many months of agonizing. So, of course, I wanted to doll it up a bit. I bought this case because it looks pretty in the picture, and seemed like a good choice in terms of price.

I received it yesterday, and it had CLEARLY been sold before and returned. The back of the case had scratches on it. The package wasn't sealed. It didn't snap together properly. Basically, it was a piece of junk.

I know the old adage "you get what you paid for." In this case, that's completely true. I'm going to buy a leather case for about $40. Why invest in an iPod Touch if you protect it with a piece of crap like this??? AVOID! Premium Design Hard Crystal Case Cover for Apple iPod Touch 4G, 4th Generation, 4th Gen - Pink Butterfly Print

I bought several covers for my iPod to protect it while not in my armband during exercise. This cover is fairly easy to take off and super simple to put on. It looks just like it does in the pictures and super cute. All parts of my iPod are still easily accessible with cover on. A trendy way to keep the iPod scratch free :) though like with other covers I did purchase several of the clear screen protectors in addition to the hard covers to make sure the screen is protected too. I searched around for the best prices and ended up getting several covers for cheaper than what many retail stores charge for one!

Just put mine on right now. snapped on nicely and looks very pretty. Only problem is you can tell it is cheaply made and the paint will probably scratch off easily...but it's pretty for now :)

I'll say overall, It's okay. Not awesome, but not complete crap either!

I am careful with my ipod; however I have dropped it on hard surfaces a time or two. The case cover feels good in my hand, was simple as anything to install and acts as it should...it protects the ipod. On one occasion it flipped out of my hand and the impact on landing caused the case to come partially apart but I was able to simply snap it together again. I put this case on when I received my ipod and have kept it on since then...can't imagine not having a case on this expensive and well used product. Additionally, I visit family members with identical ipods and my individualized case helps keep me sane.

The material was very cheaply made and it didn't snap together perfectly, leaving some access on the sides. It just didn't seem sturdy enough to protect the ipod although it did provide a cute cover. So, if you're just looking for something to look cute and minor flaws don't bother you, it's okay; anything more--you might as well spend a little extra cash to get a more sturdy one.

I ordered this case and I was very satisfied with my purchase. I received my order much quicker than expected and the case looks great on my phone. No complaints about this product, and I give it five stars!

It is attractive but does peel easily I've only had it on for 1 day and it arrived with a flaw on the back cover. I won't send it back because for the most part it does what it is suppose to and you get what you pay for.

Love this product. It is as pretty as it looks online. I have had no issues getting the case on and off. It is a little catchy, but if you take your time it comes off without breaking. I would definitely purchase more cases like this one. - Complete Crap - Case'
