Better Sex Through Yoga - history of sex, womens studies

"The Technology of Orgasm" is one of the funniest books I've read in a long time. Maines' ostensible purpose is an examination of the history of vibrators and other mechanical means to induce female orgasms. This subject is covered in depth and apparent thoroughness, but her real focus is "androcentric" definitions of female sexuality and their cultural and technological repercussions. In witty and humorous language, demonstrating that Maines has mastered post-modernism and even found a use for it, she lampoons men's refusal to recognize that for most women, insertion of a male penis into the vagina followed by a male orgasm is not necessarily a complete sexual experience. In droll tones, Maines discusses the long-held male claim, supported by what was called science, that if a woman did not achieve an orgasm from sexual penetration by a male, she was not "normal," although some 80% or more of women were thus "abnormal." And never mind that 80% of a population cannot, by definition, be abnormal. Maines is a good historian, and she recounts the historical medicalization of female orgasm, terming its inducement "the job nobody wanted." For hundreds of years, physicians or midwives were paid to stimulate manually the clitoris of women suffering from "hysteria" and thereby to bring about a therapeutic paroxism. Since this was a time-consuming task, doctors turned to hydrotherapy and then to electric powered vibrators to shorten the time necessary to induce such relief on each patient. HMOs would be proud. This is a book on a serious topic in western cultural history that could have been androphobic or, worse, terribly dull. Instead,it charms and educates with wit and erudition. I hated to see it end. The Technology of Orgasm: "Hysteria," the Vibrator, and Women's Sexual Satisfaction (Johns Hopkins Studies in the History of Technology)

for centuries, troubled -- or troubling -- women were diagnosed with "hysteria." the classic treatment for this vague malady was inducement of the "hysteric paroxysm" -- known to us contemporary types as the orgasm. according to rachel maines's wryly hilarious history, the first mechanical vibrators were labor-saving devices for doctors tired of inducing orgasm in their patients manually. who knew? this book is clearly her dissertation & primarily intended for academics, but i found it mind-blowing & frequently quite amusing. i frequently recommend it to friends & colleagues looking for a quick, smart, engaging read.

For her pains (the book took 20 years to research and write), according to Wired magazine, the author was apparently promptly sacked from the faculty of Clarkson U on publication. :( A great pity and another blow for academic freedom on subjects around sexuality.

There was an irony and sadness to the truth that in the face of immense male denial of women's actual sexual physical workings in intimate relationships and in male psychological advice, there was this actual historical presence of awareness by male physicians of how our bodies work, albeit at such an unintimate distance it almost can't count as awareness. It was as if our bodies were like machines.Great research. Essentail reading for everyone.

Anyone who reads social histories, biographies of Victorian women or historical fiction must eventually ask this question, "What the heck is neurasthenia and how come nobody ever gets it anymore?" The plague of wealthy Victorian women simply disappeared without a trace in the 1920s. Why? Finally -- here's your answer.

* *The dustjacket of Rachel P. Maines's new book, THE TECHNOLOGY OF ORGASM: "HYSTERIA", THE VIBRATOR & SEXUAL SATISFACTION, reads as follows: -*-*- From the time of Hippocrates until the 1920s, massaging "hysterical" female patients to orgasm was a staple of medical practice among Western physicians. Hysteria...was thought to be the consequence of sexual deprivation. Doctors performed the "routine chore" of relieving hysterical patients' symptoms with manual genital massage until the woman reached orgasm, or as it was known under clinical conditions, the "hysterical paroxysm". The vibrator first emerged as an electromechanical medical instrument in direct response to demand from physicians who, far from enjoying the implementation of pelvic massage, sought every opportunity to substitute the services of midwives and, later, the efficiency of mechanical devices... Invented in the late 1880s by a British physician, the vibrator was popular with turn-of-the-century doctors as a quick, efficient cure for hysteria which neither fatigued the therapist nor demanded skills which were difficult to acquire... Hysterical women presented a large and lucratve clientele for doctors, and vibrators reduced, from about one hour to ten minutes, the time required for a physician to produce results, significantly increasing the number of patients he could treat in the course of a single workday. These women were ideal patients in that they never recovered nor died from their condition but continued to require regular medical "treatment". -*-*--0-0-0-0-That male doctors were freely encouraged to perform sexual acts upon female patients is startling when compared to today's more regulated climate, and it inspires these observations:* The vibrator was not an amorous invention - no Cupid's dart - but a labour-saving clinical instrument to substitute for undesirable professional tedium the more desirable swellings of the wallet. Improved productivity is good for business.* Doctors were well-rewarded, respectable gigolos, weary as whores of the endless daily parade of hungry genitals and their distressed owners. Today, they would go to jail.* Activities that otherwise would be considered odd, transgressive, or exciting are permitted when they can be defined as, or safely packaged within, "medicine" or "science", controlled and validated by bourgeois professionals. This can be liberating as well as oppressive: clinical authority can licence the forbidden while defending the status quo, such as relations between the sexes. The clinic is where we pay strangers to intrude intimately into all our velvet cavities - wearing latex - bringing fresh meaning to the phrase, "the doctor is in". Quickly nurse, the proctoscope!* The doctor-patient relationship oppressed both parties yet remains charged with voyeuristic eroticism for the reader, paradoxically and perversely enhanced by references to the austere boredom of the clinician. The erotic relationship is toned by the pornographic whiff produced through the opposing tensions of: dominance and submission; demand and supply; buying and selling; need and numbness; control and abandon; restraint and convulsion; energy and fatigue; humiliation and relief; shame and paroxysm; tender, desiring flesh, and the subtly-perverse coupling of mechanical insult and pleasure. The clinical drama delivers a secret misogyny to be savoured as a thrilling, guilty vice by both sexes - a stolen cream bun for the soul. Spanking cures this sort of thing.* All of this occurred under conditions in which the only female orgasm recognised as "true" was the sometimes elusive one produced vaginally through intercourse with a male. The more independent and easily achieved clitoral orgasm was belittled as secondary and "immature" [see Freud]. This attitude supported male sexual necessity, authority, and privilege: only a cock can make a real woman of you - it's a magic wand. Today, women buy their own magic wands and connect them to the power station, harnessing those giant turbines and nuclear rods to their appetites.* It is widely recognised that some mental conditions are treated by electric shock but less broadly advertised is that others were alleviated by electric cock. - Sex - History - History Of Sex - Womens Studies'

Schlage - dead bolts, schlage

I recently bought one of these for our home after we moved in. Now I don't need to fumble with keys every time I need to ket in the house, and I don't have to worry about kids losing or forgetting keys.

Like other schlage locks I have owned, this unit seems to be very well made, sturdy, and easy to install. The programming of codes is simple, and codes can be added or deleted just by using the keypad. Keypad use as far as entering codes or even updating codes is straighforward. The fact that a simple button push "lights up" the buttons at night is also cool.

The buttons are also epoxy-coated, so the numbers won't "wear off" thus revealing the codes used. I have a separate code for each family member, and can easily add codes if I have a contractor stopping by.

A key can be used to open the lock if for some reason the electronic part stops functioning (too cold from sub-sero weather, perhaps?). Since this is a Schlage lock, it can even be re-keyed so that the key you have matches the other Schlage locks your house may have. Schlage FE595VCAM716ACC Camelot Keypad Accent Lever Door Lock, Aged Bronze

The other reviews have covered the product very well, so I am just commenting on the battery life. My 9 volt battery that came with the lock lasted 1 month. I just assumed it had been sitting in the package and was near it's exp. date. The 2nd battery I installed was a fresh Everyready Alkaline 9 volt. It lasted a total of 4 months. There are only 3 family members in my house, so I don't think it is a matter of heavy use.

My point is that 4 months is a long way from the 3 years advertised so consider this when you are thinking of getting this lock.

4/5/09 Another update...3rd battery lasted less than 1 week and when it failed the door sat unlocked all day, not good. Will contact Schlage for replacement, but do not like to have to return things and pay shipping

I timed my installation of this at a surprizing 15 minutes, including removing the old doorknobs and reversing the handles on the keyless entry. Usually everything takes twice as long with me! The only hard part was deciding which door to put it on- the main house entry or an outbuilding I use a lot.

An earlier review stated that the lock shuts down for 5 minutes after four consecutive missed entries of combinations. I timed mine at 30 seconds shutdown, confirmed in the owner's manual.

The thing is made well, heavy duty even. Easy to program and delete combinations. I was hoping to gain entry a tad quicker by "swiping" a finger across four digits in a row, but this won't allow that; it wants a discret push of a number on the keypad with a very short time between entries. So it takes 3-4 seconds to open the door.

No complaints, but I await the day the 9V battery gives out and I have to remove the inside portion of this lock to replace it. Then I may have my first gripe!

P.S. - I paid $118 (on sale) for mine in bright brass at Lowe's, Jan.'09.

Having just purchased a new home and in need of replacing the locks, we did a great deal of research on the various companies before settling on Schlage. Of course, they are a decent mid-level quality lock and there are much more secure, and much less secure lock ratings than found within this line (i.e., commercial, etc). We selected this keyless lock to use on an outdoor utility/laundry shed with the intention of being able to access laundry the laundry room easily without the need for keys. It has been wonderful, and we enjoy the bronze colored finish a great deal. I have heard that it can peel and crack, so be sure to keep your receipts in a safe place, or your original packaging, should you need to send it back to Schlage for warranty work (there is a lifetime warranty, as far as I am aware).

The lock is easy to program and uses a 6 digit master code for this purpose. You can store 2 four digit entry codes in the lock at at time, and they can be changed using the 6 digit code. As others have mentioned, this is useful when contractors need access to the home. For example, we were able to have the sprinkler system repair guy do some work on the house because of this.

As for the battery life, I can't comment much on it, except to say that we are still on the battery that came with the unit and it has been about 2 months. I would note, however, that we do not use this system on an entry door to the main house. Rather, it is in a location where it is not used every day. Nevertheless, we live in a very hot climate, which usually kills batteries at a faster rate, and have not encountered a problem with the lock as of yet.

Thus far, we have been very pleased. If I encounter any problems, I will be sure to update the review, but at present, I am very satisfied. A note of caution - be sure to retain the instructions included with the lock, as they contain the 6 digit code necessary to change the entry codes. If you happen to misplace this, you will need to take the lock apart to get the code, as it is inside of the lock.

I had all the same positive reactions listed by others when I installed this. After I had been using it about six months, the 1-4 digits stopped working - when I pressed them nothing at all happened, though all the other buttons worked. This was intermittent for a while and then they quit altogether, taking me back to using a key. I called Schlage and was told that they recommend replacing the batteries every three months. Wonderful! Anyhow, I replaced the battery and guess what?! Now none of the buttons work at all! I have messed with the connections and all, but have been unable to revive it. So how do you send a lock in for repair? Just leave your door unprotected when you send it in? Anyhow, I misplaced my receipt, so I'm totally out of luck. I guess I'm just back to living with fishing out my key every time I need to get in. - Keyless - Dead Bolts - Schlage - Keyless Entry'

pencil sharpener - pencil sharpener, pencil sharpeners

Just purchased this a couple of weeks ago.

Pros:

- Heavy Weight. Won't move around a bunch. If you put a lot of force on the pencil, you may have to hold it down with a finger (e.g. not much pressure)

- Sharpens pencils to a sharp point

- Blue light shows when a pencil is sharpened and auto shuts off. This is great for my 3 yr old who would grind a pencil to a stub.

- Motor seems to be a workhorse. I haven't had it long, but it has not even warmed up with the use I have had with it.

Cons:

- Big. This has a much larger footprint than I expected, but I didn't read the dimensions before purchasing.

- It takes a couple of inches of pencil to put into the machine. This just means you can not sharpen a pencil when it gets down to the last couple of inches.

Overall, I am happy with it. If I had to purchase again, I would either get this one or the "Teacher Pro" version. I am happy, though X-ACTO ProX Electric Pencil Sharpener with SmartStop, Gray and Black (1612)

Being a middle school teacher, I see all sorts of harsh treatment of school supplies, so I was a little bit worried about investing that much of my own money in a pencil sharpener, but so far, I'm impressed!

It takes a bit more force than you would think to sharpen a pencil, but man -- it's fast! I teach in an inner city school where kids sometimes are not taught how to treat things respectfully, but they just love this sharpener.

My biggest complaint is that my classroom has become a revolving door because of students coming in from other classes to sharpen their pencils in this beast! If it lasts just two school years, I'll say it was money well-spent and will buy another one.

I have had the sharpener for a month now, using it regularly in the classroom. It has worked wonderfully and has made my job as a teacher much easier each day. Kids are very happy to have a very sharp pencil to use. Definitely a worthy investment.

Works great! The moms at school got one of these for our "work room" we sharpen pencils for tests! I purchased this one as a gift for my son's second grade teacher. In a few seconds a mom helping can have a 30 new pencils sharpened, or the kids can re sharpen pencils in 1 or 2 seconds, the little blue light tells them the pencil is done! Perfect little work horse!

As a teacher I was trying to find a pencil sharpener that actually worked. I am disappointed in this sharpener. It was hard for even me to push the pencil in hard enough to get it to sharpen and it won't sharpen unless you really shove it in there and then the sharpener moves so I had to hold the sharpener with one hand and shove and turn the pencil in there with the other. The blue light doesnt always light up either. This was from the first time the sharpener was used! I have a $20 staples sharpener which works much better. Not buying another xacto product again.

I've been using this sharpener in my Kindergarten classroom for the past three weeks. Very happy with it. For those of you who do not live in North America like me (I live in Australia), you have to take into consideration of buying a Step down transformer (it costs me 30AUD)

Not good for kids because the pencil has to be jammed into the sharpener with a lot of force for it to function. The end-result seems to be a point that is not uniformly shaped. Cheaper sharpeners seem to work a lot better and faster.

This thing is large and heavy duty. It looks and operates like a quality product that should last a long time. Aside from its size, I am glad I purchased this product. For the money, you should expect to have one of the best pencil sharpeners for a long time. - Pencil Sharpeners - Pencil Sharpener - School Supplies'

Driving Force Gt - usb cable, extension

I came across this particular USB 2.0 cable when I was trying to find an extension cable for my logitech bluetooth radio. Most of the cables I came across were either white (I wanted black), too short, or too expensive for how much I felt was conscionable to spend on a simple USB cable. Then I found this cable. It is 6 feet long which is long enough for most applications, has male-to-female connectors (makes it behave as an extension cable versus a normal connection cable), and it is black. Not to mention it's priced right.

Although I have not tested specifics such as data transmission rate, I doubt most people care about those sort of details. Most people want to know simply, "Does it work?". The answer is yes, absolutely fine. The build quality is good, not exactly top quality, but it does feel like it is worth more than it's price ($4.99 at the time of this review). The female connector makes a nice solid and tight connection. What more do you need?

If you are looking for an inexpensive, black, 6 foot long USB 2.0 cable that works: this will serve you perfectly and I recommend it. Mediabridge - Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Extension Cable - A-Male to A-Female - (6 feet)

If you're looking for a reliable USB 2.0 Extension cable made to connect two standard male to female USB cables, made by a reputable cable company, then look no further! This cable is the perfect length(6ft) to connect to pretty much anything on or near your computer desk. If you buy a cable longer than you need, you're just hurting your USB speed, because the longer the cable, the longer the time it takes data to travel through it.(HDMI cable is an exception.) I have purchased many cables from MediaBridge over the years, and I will continue to buy from them because of their competitive price, and quality cable construction.

Worked flawlessly. Mine is Gold plated. Suppose to make a difference. Works fine and transfers data easily. I used this USB extension with a Logitech Driving Force GT racIng wheel. The cord on the wheel is really long but about 3 feet too short for my needs. I bought this to give it that extra few feet. The Data transfer has not suffered from what I can gather. Driving response is still very accurate with no hiccups.

works great and it's easier than crawling under my desk to plug in USB drives, etc. Great to avoid having a camera hanging on the front of your computer if you have a Flip or other camera with built-in connector.

I bought this to extend the charging cable with my iPhone 4. Works great. Other reviews mentioned slower charge times, I have not noticed this but I am primarily using this to charge overnight. Overall excellent for the price.

I use this little puppy to extend my wired XBOX 360 controller to the Media Center PC attached to a big screen. It sure does beat having to purchase a wireless receiver for $40. Considering I wrap this up with a controller and plug/unplug it often, no issues have occurred so far. - Usb - Usb Extension Cable - Usb Cable - Extension'

Pocket Camcorder - camcorder, flip ultra hd

This review is very similar to the review that I gave for the Flip Slid HD when it first came out. (Please see that review also...)

I have been a Flip camera user since they released the first gen. Flip Mino HD (not the new metallic model). I loved the camera. For what I needed it for it was everything I wanted. I soon became addicted to the Flip cameras and needed to purchase the newest one every time they came out.

I currently own the Flip Mino HD (1st gen) Flip Ultra HD (2nd Gen) Flip Slide HD, and now the Flip Ultra HD (3rd Gen with Flip Port). I also own a Canon GL2 and Vixia 30 video cameras and a Canon Xi digital SLR.

I got home from school on Tuesday and found my brand new Flip Ultra HD waiting for me. I had about 20 minutes to open the package, look and set up the features (time, date, etc.) before I had to leave for marching band rehearsal. During rehearsal I did some test shooting and I was very impressed with the quality of this camera, but I was worried about a few features.

I was reluctant at first to purchase this camera because of the 60fps feature. I did own a Kodak Zi8 and the 720p 60fps setting didn't not import into Final Cut Pro. I had to take it into compressor or some other software and change the file extension in order for Final Cut Pro to import it. Of course this causes a decrease in quality.

I was also reluctant because of the image stabilization feature. When image stabilization is added to a camera (of this size) video quality usually suffers. I know flips can be very shaky if you do not have a well trained hand. After a few hours a playing you will figure out the right movements that the camera can incorporate so your video will not come out shaky.

I don't use my Flip Slide HD because of the omni directional microphone. I can not record loud situations because the microphone distorts. This is my biggest fault with the Slide HD. I was a little concerned with the new Flip Ultra HD that it would have the same problem even though it uses a different microphone, but what really sold me on this new Flip was the accessories and the FLIP PORT.

Right off the bat I noticed all of the new accessories that they are pushing for the Flips, the aquapacks, the igo chargers, and my favorite is the magnetic Bower Wide Angel Lens. Flip and Cisco have finally started listening to its customers, but what put it over the top for me was Blue Microphones. Blue Microphones makes vintage and out of this world recording, studio, usb microphones. I own one of their USB Microphones called the Snow Ball and the quality of that microphone is amazing. When I found out that Blue Microphones was making a microphone (mikey) for the new Flip to be used with the new Flip Port, I purchased mine right away.

So the Review...

The Ultra HD has always been my favorite because of its size. I think the bigger it is the better control you will have and the less shaky video you will produce. The new Ultra HD is smaller, but not that much. It feels good in your hands. The controls and the screen are in the same place. It is a nice fit in your hand.

I was very shocked at how well the image stabilization worked. If you have used a flip before this one you know that the slightest movement will create shaky video. You can tell that this one has image stabilization. It still can produce shaky video but it might take a big jolt to do it.

The 60 fps was great. It was much clearer video and with the image stabilization it made everything much smoother and clearer in the view finder, even in low light situations. I did check when I got home and the 60fps does import right into Final Cut Pro for editing without any compression. (Probably cause the videos are in MP4 format)

Overall I think this is the best Flip Camera out on the market. I like this one better than the Mino because of the touch screen controls. Sometimes pressing the touch screen controls on the Mino will cause the camera to shake.

I hope this review was helpful. Please feel free to leave comments or questions.

See my comparison of my Flip Cameras below.

Flip Mino HD - Good Microphone (2nd out of all of them), doesn't have as wide as a shooting angle as the Ultra's. Very small in the hand, at times hard to control.

Flip Ultra HD (2nd Gen) - Good Microphone (3rd out of all of them) Wide Angle for shooting, Feels good in the hand, sturdy, wont break if dropped. Double A batteries only last a few hours, rechargeable battery pack has short life span. Unit can get hot when charging - may even shut down.

Flip Slide HD - Poor Microphone (in loud situations) - its omni directional so it picks up all around the Flip not just in the front like the others. (4th out of all of them) Touch controls are better than the Flip Mino, however this has no hard buttons. The Slide does have the largest storage capacity and is second in video quality only to the new Flip Ultra HD.

Flip Ultra HD (3rd Gen Flip Port) - Widest Angle for shooting, feels the best in the hand, has the Best Microphone and currently I believe has the best video quality. This also is the only unit that has the new Flip Port.

Thanks

Computer Accessories - sandisk, sandisk 8gb sd

Please note that this is a Class 2 card (Class 6 is the current "top of the line"). Class 2 transfers two mega-thingies per second rather than the six mega-thingies per second for Class 6 cards.

This transfer rate is fine for most devices, but takes 3 times as long to copy files back and forth from your computer.

Please also note that older card readers are not able to handle SDHC (HC stands for "High Capacity"). Some card readers are good for only 1 GB, some go up to 2 GB or 4 GB, but only the latest generations are capable of 8 GB.

Lastly, if you are using Windows XP, you may need to either add Service Pack 3 or add a patch before the high capacity card can be recognized by your system.

I recommend adding the patch rather than SP3. Some things haven't been working quite right since I installed the latest service pack from Microsoft - you may not wish to take that chance... SanDisk 8 GB Class 2 SDHC Flash Memory Card SDSDB-8192 (Bulk Packaging)

8GB is more than enough for my Canon PowerShot. I recently went to New York City for vacation and took more than 250 plus pics with the best pixel quality the camera could provide and still had more than enough memory left. Highly recommend this product. You don't need to carry any extra memory.

This card was purchased in 6/09 for use in a new Canon 780IS camera that IS sdhc compatible. At first it worked great and it was wonderful to have such a large amount of memory available for stills and video. then after about a month it got glitchy and I received intermittent memory card error messages that would resolve by removing and reinserting the card. After another 2 weeks it is useless, won't read, won't write not in the camera nor in my computer (where it worked fine before). It's not the camera because all the other SD/SDHC cards I've tried work fine. I know Sandisk has a 5 year warranty, but like a trusting person I did not keep the receipt so I guess that's that. Pity because i have never had problems with Sandisk products before.

BEWARE: This is what bulk packaging means for Sandisk: it has no warranty. Zilch. That's the answer I got from them. When I asked if the reseller was authorized to sell the product, they said they don't know, nor do they care, even though I provided an invoice from the seller.

I've bought CPUs, optical drives, hard disks in bulk packaging. All of them came with full warranty. This sounds like an outlet for cards that don't pass QA for Sandisk. I'm shocked that a name brand will do this.

This is the best value for the quality for a SD card of this size. I Highly recommend this to anyone that needs storage. I purchased this for my Nikon D40 Digital SLR camera, and it works beautifully. I have plenty of room to storage photographs.

What can I say? This product works perfectly in my Canon FS100 camcorder. No issues with corrupt data (knock on wood) and the write speed is adequate...no delays noticed during camcorder use. Sure, there are cheaper SDHC cards out there but I have used Sandisk in the past and have never had a problem with them. - Sandisk 8gb Sd - 8gb - Sandisk - Sdhc'

Mens Grooming - nose clipper, trimmer

I got this a Christmas present in 2009. It worked quite well until around Christmas of 2010 when the attachment I used most had the plastic cover break. There are 6 little plastic things on the plastic attachment that it used to select the length you wish to trim to. 1 of these broke so now I cannot use that attachment as any length I select will now trim unevenly and tugs at the hair.

I then began to use another attacment even though it did not work as well. The same thing happened to the plastic length guard for this attachment too and now I can no longer use 2 of the attachments!

These covers are incredibly cheap and probably would have broken sooner if I used the trimmer more than once every month. I have not been able to find any place that sells replacement attachment guards so now I must buy a whole new beard trimmer after only 1 year. The replacement will definitely not be a P-N. Awesome Hardwood Floor Vacuum - best vacuum, canister vacuum

While these provide a more convenient option than frequently cleaning the cloth bag that comes with the backpack vacs, cost will add up quickly. I have about a 2000 sq. ft. house that's home to 2 dogs and a cat, so there is a lot of fur; however, these bags fill up after about 2 or 3 cleanings. Even at the least expensive places I've found to order them, they cost over a dollar bag once you add shipping. I'll be using the included reusable filter bag once I'm done with these.

They look giant weird coffee filters and are easy to install, despite the lack of instructions. Remove the reusable bag to use. The interior cone (convex) goes over the HEPA filter inside the vacuum, the exterior cone (concave) sits in the bucket and the edge extends slightly outside the vacuum. Clamp on the dome cover, strap on the vac pack and you're ready to go. Disposable Paper Liner for Commercial Backpack Vacuum Cleaner, (7 bags per pack)

I don't understand why people have so much difficulty with these bags. They're really easy. I gave them only four stars because of the price, but quite frankly it's worth a dollar to me not to clean out the reusable bag by hand. Simply open the vacuum cleaner lid, remove the "cleanable/reusable" bag that it comes with and then just drop these in the hole. The tops might need a little wiggle so that you can make sure there is paper all around the top seal of the machine. These do not cause any reduction in cleaning power & they are so simple to throw out when you're done. If you have the cleaner & you're busy and don't want to fight with the reusable bag to empty its contents, then buy these bags. They work very well. - Best Vacuum - Canister Vacuum Cleaner - Hepa - Canister Vacuum'

Speaker Cables - audio, adapters

I've ordered a few of these from Amazon, and they are usually like toothpick guage wire. Not this one. This baby was a reasonable thinkness. The connectors have an anti-corrosion coating too. By far the best 3.5mm to 2 RCA I've gotten from the web (anywhere). Buy this one. Period. I mean it. Buy it. Like, now... Stop reading... Why are you still reading? Look, did you need a conversion wire or not? hahahaha! 3.5mm Stereo Male to 2 RCA Male Splitter Cable (12 Feet)

Fast shipment, accurately described product. I plugged it in and had sound on the 52" flat screen as a clone of the PC's widescreen monitor. Also needed a 3.5 splitter to route the audio to both the PC and the TV, but that's no big thing -- had one in the top drawer with my other audio odds-and-ends. Sound quality is good.

This item is exactly as advertised. My use for this was to attach my iPhone to my home stereo system. Instead of going out and purchasing one of these expensive docking systems, I opted to go for the inexpensive route, and I am glad I did! The sound quality I get is great, and the price can not be beat. I would definitely recommend this item for someone who is looking to attach a portable music device to a stereo system without breaking the bank! - Connectors - Audio - Adapters - Audio Cables'

Consealer - consealer, cover up consealer

I got this because I didn't want to cover up something that was unsightly with something that would make it worse. I have noticed no major healing effects with this concealer, so no miracle product but it at least doesn't make my spots any worse and that's what I was looking for. I am completely blown away by this concealer. First of all, thank you Neutrogena for producing a yellow-based concealer. This matches my complexion perfectly (I purchased medium 15). I have tried a few concealers including MAC, which were not skin friendly - at least for me. Then I've been using Murad's conealer for some time. It is very good and stays on all day with a matte finish under powder. However, the shades have pink undertones and it doesn't match my face like the Neutrogena concealer. This one outshines Murad - a BIG surprise given the relatively cheap price. It also glides on smoother and covers blemishes and imperfections very well. Moreover, even though it conceals so well, it is more lightweight than the Murad concealer.

Even better, it blends so well that you do not necessarily need foundation. I use it with Mario Badescu's Special Healing powder, topped with Maybelline Fit Me powder. I have not tried the Neutrogena mineral powder as these mineral powders do not agree with my skin (despite their popularity). I would consider the Healthy Skin powder be Neutrogena; but I fell in love with Fit Me. It really does "fit" your complexion perfectly! Anyway, I have also invested in one of the Neutrogena Skin Clearing foundation. It is also the bomb! Only use it when going out on the town though and maintain the abovementioned regime for day wear.

It should definitely be produced in a wider range of shades though to cater to darker skin tones. It's a great product and should be suitable for all of us ladies. :o)

Cheers

This concealer is pretty inexpensive so you can't expect too much but I was hoping that since it was neutrogena that it would be worth while. It covers blemishes OKAY - which is fine for the price. My problem with this is that it says "skin clearing" and it definitely is not that. I have normal/combo skin mostly its just the "monthly" breakout thing and this definitely doesn't irritate the blemishes/zits but it doesn't go away any sooner than if I wore nothing at all.

I'd say if its an emergency and/or you're looking for something inexpensive then this will work just fine, otherwise if you can afford to spend a little extra I would go with something that actually "clears your skin".

I use this with skin clearing mineral powder from Neutrogena and it works really well. If I do have something random pop up on my face after a workout or something, I just put this on with the powder and it is not visible. It is also nice to have the added medicine and not clogging my pores! - Cover Up Consealer - Consealer'

Keyboard Protector - macbook pro, keyboard protector

It keeps my keyboard clean and the area under it protected, which is what I'm assuming we all need.

Sometimes I have to lift it up to show people that it's not a custom red keyboard, but just a protective cover. I have the newer all white uni-body MacBook (13.3 inch), unlike the other reviewer with their black keyboard. So the keys really pop as red with the white lettering.

"Wow." They sometimes say. Wow, indeed. It covers the keys evenly and I can type as usual with very little keyboard discomfort. At first it felt a little powdery but once my greasy fingers flew across the keyboard a few times it started getting better. And my actual keyboard thanked me.

It matches my sweatshirt, drink of choice from Applebee's (Shirley Temple), and the blood that my gums bleed when I smile so much from having a stylish and effective product.

In all seriousness, I like this, I'm glad I chose it over black or clear, and it settles into my (new) MacBook 13.3 keyboard platform comfortably so nothing can slink in as long as I'm handling the laptop properly. GTMax Aluminum Unibody Apple MacBook / Pro / Air Silicone Keyboard Skin Cover - Red

if you want it to protect your keyboard it does just that. but i thought this cover would look really nice because i have a red cover for my mac but this cover is see-through and i can totally see the black keys under the red silicone. if you want to buy a keyboard cover for your mac just buy the cover with the black keys.

I like the red color and how it really stands out when the lights are low. It fits perfectly over the keys as it should. However, the letters on the keys don't line up with the real keys so when the lights are low double letters appear on the keyboard. Another slight flaw is that the trim of the silicone hangs over the dugout keyboard groove making it easier for one to accidentally peal it up. I recommend the black one by bargaincell it fits absolutely perfect for some reason.

i bought this product several months ago to protect my keyboard for miscellaneous things getting into it. It is a great product but it has done something to my macbook screen. i don't know if it ate it away or what but when i try cleaning the screen with a wet cloth, you can see where the keyboard cover outline was and it will NOT go away. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, or knows how to fix it, but other than that it was the only problem i had with it.

This cover is advertised to fit all macbook models, however it will not fit the 15" current generation macbook pro (it is a few mm to wide, so half the keys do not fit). However, I was able to get it to fit ok on a 2nd generation white macbook.

Otherwise, the product is pretty good.

Fits great. Looks great. Does a great job. Here are the minor flaws: 1. Some of the letters don't match exactly with the letters on the normal keyboard of the new (2010) Macbook Pro. This only becomes visible when the keyboard backlight is present. 2. The keyboard backlight buttons are not represented on this keyboard cover, probably to allow compatibility with other Macbook models that don't have a backlit keyboard. 3. You lose some of the joy of typing with this cover. It just doesn't feel as great. However, I can type on it just fine. Overall, I think it's worth the trouble.

Although cheap, its not worth the 2 dollars requested as, it sticks to the keyboard in some places since it is too thin does not match the keys well, has a wave to it and creates challenge in typing with it.

I also order the top-case which is another 2 dollars more, but worth it ! sits well, comfortable with typing and does not stick to key, rather fits it exactly !

Well yea some of the keys don't line up exactly with the keyboard, but it shouldn't bother you unless you are super anal about that kind of stuff...It serves its purpose, keeps my keyboard clean! It may take a couple days to get used to typing with the cover on, but you get used to it. =)

Its pretty nice, the color is cute and it does its job. Mine has never laid completely flush but I really don't even notice it. So far it has worn really well, none of the letters are wearing off or anything and its been a few months since i got it. It took me a few to get used to typing with it, but really it wasnt much of an adjustment. Over all its a great product for the price. - Macbook - Keyboard Protector - Macbook Pro - Dust Covers'

I have my Powershot A2200 for about two weeks now. I was a little concerned about the mixed reviews but I thought I would take a chance. I have and love my Canon G10 but did not want to carry it everywhere with me. I needed a little camera to carry with me and not worry about. I purchased my Powershot A2200 for 129. and could not complain about that. I liked how you can move through the different modes quickly and I especially liked the live mode. I am an artist and it is very important for me to control color and contrast and I can easily do that in the live mode. I understand the problems some of the other reviews complained about especially the blurriness. I too had blurry photos when I first started using it. This camera has a learning curve - it is a very sensitive camera and you have to become familiar with it and choose the mode ( program, live , auto ) that is best for you. Also there are several options to control in the focus of the camera. I suggest you become familiar with it to improve your results. This is a good camera for someone like myself that is familiar with using cameras and want options for controlling images. If you just want to point and shoot and not think about it - this may not be the best choice. I am really impressed with the photos I have taken. I mainly use the live mode - it is a very flexible mode - shooting well in low museum light and even out of a fast moving car. Given what I received for this cost I am very pleased. I love my little light canon camera. Canon Powershot A2200 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom (Black)

I purchased this a few days ago to replace an older camera, and I love it. All of my test shots have turned out beautifully when I uploaded them, and the new fish eye and miniature settings are fun to play around with.

My only concern is that the flap that covers the a/v out ports now opens in a new way, so that the pieces holding it on are under a bit of strain when it's plugged in to your computer.

Canon cameras have always been the best for the money, not this one. Although the camera has numerous features that are attractive there are two issues that detract, Lag time and battery life. When the battery is freshly charged the lag time is comparable to the SD line of cameras. After ten to 15 shoots the lag time gradually gets too long. I would not recommend using it for shooting pictures at a sporting event. The battery is a lithuim-ion, same as the SD series. However, it is rated at only 740 mAh compared to 940 mAh on the SD series. On a recent trip the battery died after seven hours of usage. Today the battery monitor said I had used 1/3 of the capacity in 2.5 hours. Unfortunately, I did not use it extensively and learn of the battery problem until after the 30 day period or it would go back to Amazon. I recommend spending the extra money on the SD series or buying a different brand.

I had a heavy DSLR and wanted a smaller camera to take to the park or just on small trips. I found this one at the store for a really good price, and bought it. I have never had a Canon camera before, but let me tell you this... I love it! They have won my sastisfaction! It is a good "beginner" camera, and takes wonderful photos. I love all the effects like fisheye, minature, poster ect. Its a some-what small camera I can fit in my pocket and take just about anywhere. I would reccommend it to anyone interested.

I just recently bought this camera for my mom on Mother's day and it was a total waste of money! The first time she used, she loved it and the pictures came out great! We went to a concert last week and brought the camera (second time using it) and right when we turn it on THE LENS JAMMED and now it won't work. We keep receiving a message that states lens error and restart camera. Mind you, we have NEVER dropped the camera and there was no dirt or anything on the camera. It was in perfect condition! I decided to do some research to see if I could fix it myself and it turns out that a lot of their Powershot cameras have this issue and people want to charge $100 just to fix it! Might as well buy a new camera. But I'm definitely not going to buy a Canon!

This is exactly what I expect from the Canon brand. The pictures look great, and the camera is super easy to navigate. All of the photo options are fun to tinker around with. If you don't like to mess with settings, then there is an auto mode that takes pretty good pictures. For those of us that like to have more control over the picture, there is a mode for that as well. You can't really change too much beyond shutter speed, iris, and other such basics. If you want to get really in depth, then you shouldn't be shopping for a point and shoot camera. The camera is light weight and compact. If you want something to fit into a pocket while you're out and about, then this is definitely the way to go. The last Cannon I had has held up for years. The only reason I bought a new camera was for an upgrade. Cameras have more oomph now than they did six years ago! And this one was worth the hassle of upgrading! I expect another six years of picture taking with this one. - Powershot - Elph - 300hs - Hd Video'

Snow Thrower - snow thrower, snow removal

I have used this item twice since purchase--a 2 inch and a 4 inch snowfall. It does an excellent job of throwing loose snow from my driveway. The only problem I have noticed is that the plastic scraper (also known as the snow spade) wears down rapidly. I am using the thrower on a concrete drive and pushing it across the concrete is like grinding the plastic away. Replacement scrapers are $20 so I hope I don't have to replace it several times a year. It seems to me that the scraper should have a metal wear surface that would hold up better than the plastic. I am in the process of trying to design aluminum "skid" for that purpose. Greenworks 26012 12-Inch 7 Amp Electric Snow Thrower

I live in a row home in a major city on the East Coast. I bought this thinking that it would peed up the clearing of my sidewalk and to dig out my cars on the street. The shovel works very in deep snow and is light enough not kill your back. The biggest drawback is that there is no way to control the speed of the blade. As a result, the shovel creates a 25 foot plum snow, which makes maneuvering the shovel very difficult. I spent a lot of my time ensuring that I didn't pepper my neighbor's house with snow or shooting the snow into the street.

I am a widow women going on five years now. I use to shovel my deck but thanks to the Greenworks Electric Snow Thrower it is a breeze shoveling the deck. Great price and FREE SHIPPING ALSO.

Greenworks 26012 12-Inch 7 Amp Electric Snow Thrower

we live in sw colorado, so this was a great purchase. my husband LOVES it, we got dumped on with snow this morning...so it came just in time

looking to purchase some added items from this company later on,

added bonus that they are a green friendly company

best buy of the year

This snow thrower is a terrific value. It has a couple of minor flaws, but on the whole I am extremely pleased.

I live in an older house, and so the 7-amp motor (what some might see as a disadvantage, was a real benefit to me) because it doesn't easily trip the household breakers. (It hasn't tripped them yet, in fact, after about 4 hours of usage moving substantial snow.) It also has a built in circuit protector which I have not yet tripped either. The reset button is convenient and well-designed. It throws the snow with enough force that it can make it from one side of the double driveway to the piles beyond the other. It's trigger system and dead man's switch work well, and don't require a lot of fussing to operate. Also, unlike several other electric yard tools I own, it has a clever looping system for the cord near the plug which makes it all but impossible to disconnect it by accident. It comes pre-assembled and ready to use out of the box. It is a bit heavy to move around, but certainly lighter than a big full gas-powered one.

I wish it had a handle that was 8 to 12 inches longer. It can be adjusted (which is nice) but its longest setting is a bit short. I am only 5'10", but I have to bend way over to get the shovel at the optimum angle for throwing snow over the considerable banks around the driveway. It wants to be used at an angle relatively close to the ground in any case, which a few extra inches of handle would make more comfortable. It also much prefers light and fluffy snow to the stuff that builds up at the end of the driveway from the snow plow. In a perfect world, its deflector would be adjustable to give at least a bit of an angle to the toss. But those are mostly quibbles over an $80 snow thrower.

The big snow last week, I spent three hours shoveling the driveway, with help some of the time from my son and some from my wife. This morning, I did the whole thing myself in just over an hour, and I'm not nearly as wiped out from the hour. The handle length is really the only design flaw that I feel could be fixed at this price point, but it's a real issue. If they fix that, I'll happily revise to 5 stars, and start giving them out as presents to all my friends!

I bought this for my husband for Christmas 2010. I was tired of seeing him shoveling snow with a regular shovel. I waited to put a review here until he was actually using it which is happening now. He has now begun doing neighbor's sidewalks just to see how high the snow is thrown which is considerable.

This arrived well packed from Greenworks and well constructed, easy to move around and obviously fun to use! My husband is 61, strong and healthy..........I'd like to see this continue just as much as the inside 'kid' who loves to play also continues!

This is a great product, worth the price and I know I can even use it too (I'm older than my husband)!

This product performed above and beyond what was stated. I had 7 inches of snow and it moved it all! I think i'm in love! it is not too heavy so you can do steps and different levels without difficulty.

With the exception of the on/off switch the Thrower works very well. So far I've used it twice, and it does a fine job on both heavy and light snow types. These snowfalls were in the 4-5 inch range. The problem with the hand switch is that it requires the operator to apply a rather heavy grip to keep the power engaged. I used a tie-wrap to permananetly keep the unit switched on and used the plug to turn it on and off. - Snow Removal - Snowblower - Snow Thrower - Electric Snow Blower'
