Camcorder - film making, camcorder

We are giving the Monosteady a 1 star because a 0 star is not offered as an option.

We bought a Manfrotto MonoSteady stabilizer to use with a small video camera. We're pretty good at using video equipment, but the MonoSteady absolutely, categorically did not work. We studied the instruction sheet that came with it and followed instructions exactly as described, we watched Manfrotto's demonstration videos on YouTube (you'll notice they make it look SO easy, a caveman can do it - excuse the pun! ;) But in reality it was impossible to use. It never balanced no matter how many ways we tried to make it work.

We went back to the store we bought it from and asked the video experts there to help us figure out how to use it, but even THEY could not balance it. We took the MonoSteady to Italy and met some Italian videographers videotaping a festival and we figured - Hey, Manfrotto is an Italian company, maybe the Italians know how to use the MonoSteady! The entire group of pro videographers could NOT balance the MonoSteady no matter how hard they tried.

Figuring maybe we got a bad model, we bought another one. Yes, HUGE mistake. It did not work either. The biggest waste of $200+ ever!

It's such a colossal disappointment that we did not even attempt to sell the MonoSteadies...we could not in good conscience inflict Manfrotto MonoSteady on another unsuspecting victim. Manfrotto 585-1 ModoSteady 3-in-1 Camera/Camcorder Stabilizer and Support System

I checked the bad comments review of this product and they were right, it simply does not work. I bought it for my iphone, I prepared a base for it and "noway" it never stabilized, I did a better job with my hand. I do have many Manfrotto products, all of them are very good but this one as a stabilizer is a garbage. Do not make the same mistake as me.

Good luck

While this product may have some uses, the instructions which are very difficult to read and understand state that it is for use with camera's that are less than 1.6 lbs. This rules out my Canon 7d with any type of lens. The description on this site doesn't make any mention of this limitation.

The camera (weight) makes all the difference in getting this to work. I popped on a Sony DLSR (light), made some adjustments per the instructions and it worked fine. I went to use it with my Canon HV-30 with wide angle lens (HEAVY)and this thing would not work at all. Finally figured out it needed more counter weight which I added near the second joint and that did the trick.

.....for $90 they ALL suck.

However, when used as a shoulder mount or table pod, you've got yourself a useful tool. So They really shouldn't advertise this as a stabilizer, since a simple tripod held properly can do the same job, but with should rest works well, and can improve many peoples crappy videos.

I gave it 2 stars because it is good as a simple tripod & shoulder rest, but the third of its advertised functions (and the most important one) is practically useless. Getting it to balance correctly is very difficult because it doesn't offer enough adjustments. The camera I used was a Canon Vixia HF21, which is a regularly sized/weighted camera. Even with all of the adjustments set all the way, the camera would still lean to the side. When I tried using a smaller camera, I was finally able to balance it out, but the resulting video was still shaky and had more sway from side to side than if I were to hold the camera in my hands. Very disappointing; Manfrotto could have made a really good product out of this.

No, its not one of the fancy, expensive, gimbel models you'll find out there. For compactness, ease of use - once you've spent some time with it - and multi-function capability, it cannot be beat. The design is highly functional and the amount of options for set-up and use, make it a must have for those of us using a lightweight digital video camera. I am using it with a Flip Ultra HD, a wide angle conversion lens and Delkin eFilm pop-up sun shade. With practice, my results have been pretty amazing. After all, no one expects any of these items; alone or combined, to really produce professional results. What I am getting and able to put together using Premiere Elements is pretty good. Even my first effort at producing a video for the place at which I work surprised a lot of people and its genuinely really nice to look at. - Film Making - Balance - Camcorder Accessories - Camcorder'

Salt And Pepper Mills - house essentials, peppermill

This is such a nice & festive set of shakers. The only problem I've encountered is after a year the plug on the bottom of the salt shaker seems to have shrunk, and the plug falls out. But I called the company's Customer Service Dept. and they were very good about supplying a new set of plugs. Olde Thompson 5-1/2-Inch Sunset Peppermill and Salt Shaker Set

I've owned 2 sets of these. Both sets came apart after about a year of use. The glue used to join the different colored pieces obviously is not strong enough. I also have experienced drying out of the rubber stopper in the salt shaker, as noted by another reviewer.

These are not your normal boring salt and pepper shakers that you find in every other kitchen. They are unique gorgeous eye-catchers that get constant comments from company. I fell in love with these in the restaurant of a nice hotel I stayed in, turned them over to find the manufacturer, and was thrilled to find them on Amazon. The shape makes them easy to pick up and use. The pepper mill operates smoothly and quietly. Everybody here absolutely loves them!

The pepper mill and salt shaker set were beautiful. They were a gift and she was equally impresed with them. The only problem was the sticker that was on top of the salt shaker didn't stick and the box left a trail of salt everywhere it was and I needed to do some cleaning before I could wrap it.

This set makes me feel good when I look at it and I have had 2 sets (Sunrise and Sunset) for several years. Recently a plastic part inside the peppermill broke and I mailed it to the company for repair. Yesterday I received a whole new set in the mail! There is a lifetime guarantee and they truly stand behind their products. So buy Olde Thompson with confidence. Love this set!

This salt and pepper shaker are beautiful and heavyweight -- they don't fall off the table easily! They are very easy to use as I have arthritis in both hands and it is not a strain at all to use the pepper mill. The colors are bold just as represented in your picture. They are a wonderful addition to my table.

I've owned this set of S&P shakers for at least 5 years now. They still look great and colorful despite daily use. I've never had any kind of problem with them. I liked them so much I purchased a set for my son, too.

As another reviewer said, this S&P set gets constant comments. They're unique, eye-catching and look great on the table and counter. Their shorter and wider shape helps them land securely when they are placed down (not like a taller, narrower set I have that always falls over). The colors are very vibrant and appear as pictured. The pepper mill works fine so far, I've had the set for a few months. If you're admiring these in the picture, order them -- you won't be sorry. - Olde Thompson - House Essentials - Peppermill - Tableware'

Doorknobs - kwikset

I consider myself a step above novice when it comes to fixing things around the house - I can rescreen a window or door screen, I can put up weather stripping on my windows, and now I can say that I can change door knobs. All you really need is a screwdriver, and within 15 minutes you too can have new door knobs in your house. The Kwikset Juno Passage Knobs are well made, turn smoothly, and most importantly, look good. I will update within a year to update on how well they hold up with two toddlers constantly yanking and playing with them... In the meantime, Highly Recommended! Kwikset 720J 15 CP Juno Hall/Closet Knob, Satin Nickel

I really was impressed with these knobs. The picture does not do them justice. These knobs are substantial in size, measuring slightly over 2" in width, so they are a nice handful. The finish is brushed nickel, you can visibly see the brush strokes from eight feet away. They look like they should have cost more.

I had a slight bit of trouble installing. As these are a larger knob, trying to place the screwdriver to tighten was a bit tricky due to the angle of the screw placement but was doable.

I am very happy with my purchase of the Kwikset Juno Venetian Bronze door knobs for my home. I am in the process of replacing all the door knobs in my home with these. What a difference and a quick way to spruce up the look of your home. My home had Kwikset brass knobs originally installed by the builder and after many years they looked dated and worn. The new knobs have drastically cleaned up the look of my home and actually make my doors look new again. I like they have a matte finish to them and are not glossy. They have a low, flat profile and do not stick out like the giant ball shaped brass knobs I replaced.

I purchased several of the passage knobs, dummy knobs, and lock knobs. No problems with install as I was able to easily remove the old ones and replace with these. I chose to go with Kwikset for ease of use since my home already had Kwikset knobs. I did not have to do any cutting of wood, it was an easy swap.

I just purchased this door knob to see if I liked it enough to replace the very cheap knobs the home builder installed. I also wanted to replace the solid brass finish with polished nickel to update the look of my home.

For the price this is a very well contructed door knob.

One thing I should note is the way this knob attaches to the door the screws are sunk in so that instead of seeing the screws you see 2 open holes. This does make it easier to install the knob but looks like there are no screws in it. It is a little different looking but I have no problem with the look.

I liked it enough I will be replacing all my door knobs and locks with this style.

Liked the keyed handset, this was really easy to install. Instead of having to screw the retaining screws in all the way, you click the screws in and then tighten no more than 1/4 inch.

High manufacturing quality.

I'll buy again.

I looked everywhere for this product and fortunately found it on Amazon. The rustic bronze finish is amazing and just this small detail made quite an improvement on the bedroom doors in my house. The directions for installing were easy to understand, allowed for a variety of scenarios, and I installed them myself. They function very smoothly and quietly.

We got this because my son removed the door knob from my daughters door so the little ones would not go in and mess up her room. He lost the screws, NICE! So....I was looking for something cheap with no lock. I was looking for cheap because he had to buy the replacement. Before you judge me, you have no idea how many things my son had "fixed" for me in the last two weeks! So, it was time to learn a lesson! This doorknob is a very poor design. the screws are tightened on the inside so it takes a long time to find the right fit. Then when you finally get it on and turn the knob it falls off! NO FUN! I am returning it. - Kwikset'

Inflatable Mattress - guest bed, inflatable mattress

I purchased a no name air mattress for fifty dollars at target and it lasted two months before it started to leak. Since I need a mattress for everyday use I decided to search for a good quality one to last. I looked at reviews and found nothing but good things about this company. The reviews were about the non raised version of this and I didn't find any for this one so I just want everyone to know how good this really is. I got the package fast and opened it up. It inflated in about 3 minutes and I got on it and started stress testing it. I had my elbows and knees support my body on it and it did not stretch like the one I used before in those spots. I was very pleased. The material used is very high quality and feels durable and stretch resistant. The seams are high quality and after sleeping in it the first day I knew I made the right choice. I'm 6'4" and 300 lbs and this mattress handled me very well i think. If you are looking for an airbed look no further this will do just fine. SimplySleeper SS-89Q Premium Queen Raised Air bed (airbed / air mattress) with Built-in Pump (Highest Quality Air Mattress Material in Market - Puncture & Stretch Resistant!) - Best material in the market!

It's a great product and here's why: my wife and I ordered this air mattress because we needed something to sleep on in our new house while waiting for our regular bed to be shipped. We slept on it for over two weeks and were completely satisfied. The built-in pump is great- no separate pieces to keep track of. The mattress stays inflated throughout the night. With other mattresses I've woken up on the hard floor with a sore back. Every couple of days we had to just add a few seconds of air. The Deflate mode worked fine too. In a couple of minutes it can be rolled up, placed into the included case and stored in a closet. In terms of comfort it's not as effective as a real bed to be sure, but definitely the most comfortable air mattress I've slept on.

I have bought many air mattress over the years this is a strong, strong mattress my guest loved sleeping on it unlike so many others that I have purchased. I have slept on many more expensive mattress with the same features this one stacks right up there but a lot less expensive. I would love to buy another one but they are curently out. Again the deflating process is wonderfull and the carying case is big enough to store your matterss pad too.

After much comparison shopping and having had several other air mattresses over the years, I'm thrilled with my purchase! This product is everything we expected and more - offers easy set-up and break-down, super comfort, seems as durable and holds its air as promised. I would recommend this mattress to anyone!

Although the bed has not been actually slept on or used much in the last 7 months, it has been up and inflated the whole time and so far no leaks. It is thicker plastic than most air beds. It says fully inflated without need for "repumping" more air into it which means there is not even "nominal" air leakage. Great product!

What a great mattress to put in the tent. It makes you feel like you are at home. Inflates in a flash, is solid all the way around and deflates quickly when you're ready to pack up and leave. Had 2 adults and two golden retrievers in the bed and it held up fine. Only thing to remember when camping is make sure the campground has regular outlets, not just 30 or 50 amp outlets. Otherwise make sure you have an adapter or a power inverter that is big enough to handle the load.

Bought this in mid June and have been using it every night since, so far no major leaks or problems with the pump. When aired up it is easy to move around. The pump airs up the bed fast, and was is also very handy is that the pump deflates the bed. Hopefully it will last me for a while, especially for the price. - Inflatable Mattress - Guest Bed - Raised Air Bed - Air Mattress'

Cheap Hdmi Cable - hdtv, hdmi

Briefly: right length for most uses, right price, certified HDMI 1.3/Cat 2 and a 'super savers' item (free shipping when ordering over $25 worth of Amazon merchandise). Can't get much better than this.

Given the 1 yr. warranty promise and the ability to easily return the wire to Amazon if you get a defective item, I see no 'negatives'.

[Anyone remembers the old "I am not going to spend a lot for this muffler" commercial?]

The 3-6 ft. are the optimum lengths to connect most electronics. I am actually using 3 ft. cables whenever the connected devices happen to be very close to each other because, when it comes to cables, shorter is almost always better :).

Just in case someone may feel guilty for not paying a lot more for a premium brand, it should be stated that at these lengths - 3-6 ft., you will get as good a service from a no-brand cable as you would from a super-expensive rip-off. An HDMI 1.3x cable should be able to carry, error free, all the signal your electronic equipment may put out. In fact, you can buy one or 2 extra 'cheap' cables, just in case. At these prices they're easily affordable.

The FUD campaigns, trying to attract buyers toward the more expensive brands make a series of claims. I will address them, as they may apply to this specific cable.

- Signal attenuation is less over a more expensive cable. - TRUE, BUT that's irrelevant on a 3-6 ft. length. The HDMI consortium stated that even the cables that were not 'certified' as 'Category 2' or 'High-Speed' will meet the requirements at lengths of 6 ft. or less. At 3-6 ft., it would be a waste to consider an 'expensive' alternative. In addition, the newer devices have sufficient processing power and are sensitive enough to properly interpret even the more ambiguous 'digits' they receive. Incidentally, the vendor claims that this specific item WAS certified as 'category 2' and HDMI 1.3a.

- The expensive cables are better engineered and their contacts are less likely to break. - TRUE, BUT how many times is one going to plug/unplug an HDMI cable in and out of an HDMI socket over the cable's lifetime? 5 times? 10 times? The 'better engineered' claim has no practical importance. If your cable works on 'day one' the odds are that it will be left in the back of your box for many months or years before it is unplugged and plugged back in. If this cable is purchased for home use, the 'better engineered' claim should not be of a major concern.

- The more expensive cables are 'future proof'. - NOT TRUE. Claims are made that, if you buy the more expensive wires you won't have to buy new ones when 'new standards' emerge because the more expensive wire will support them. This is untrue on 2 different levels. First, your cheap cable was purchased to work with some very specific devices which need HDMI 1.3 and will never support the 'new standard'. The new standards will be supported by new electronic devices but, for as long as you keep the existing ones, you will still need this cable to connect them. Second, the emerging HDMI 1.4 specs call for new features such as an Ethernet channel and an audio return channel, both of which can't be supported by the existing HDMI 1.3 cables so, no matter how large a bandwidth the existing expensive cables may support, it won't matter because you still won't able to use them if you are to take full advantage of an HDMI 1.4 device so... there goes your $5 invesment or... your $200, depending on your having purchased a 'cheap' or a 'top of the line' HDMI cable.

Swiss Army Watch - sport watch, swiss army watch

This is a great watch for the outdoors person, or it is good for weekend wear. It will look a little out of place with a suit or sport jacket/blazer.

I bought mine in 1994/1995 and it's only needed a few battery replacements. Victorinox Swiss Army Men's Renegade Watch #24228

The Renegade is a nice little entry-level watch from Victorinox. I wanted a simple, inexpensive watch with a PVC band...something other than a sports watch where I could sweat in the Dallas summer heat and not worry about the band getting crusty. The Renegade fits the bill nicely.

Note that the customer-provided photos on this page are a bit misleading in terms of the watch's size. [Miko, I thought I had small wrists!] The Renegade's smaller profile (39mm diameter including the winder) is a better choice for me and my small wrists than these spaceships that pass for men's watches these days. [Seriously, what is up with that? Guys are wearing satellite dishes on their wrists.]

Owned for about 15 months, 4 of which were spent in repair. Never dropped this watch, always took care of it. Wore it for 3 months when communting on my bike to work and class and needed a dependable timepiece to manage my active schedule. This watch mysteriously stopped and started again unpredictably and unnoticably several times per day. I was constantly resetting the watch and running late to boot. I sent it back for a repair and the movement was replaced for free, but I had to buy a Timex in the interim and waited 4 months until it was returned. Wore the watch for 8 more months during which the lumibrite material denoting the markers and numbers started to flake off and bounce around atop the watch face. At the 15th month, the start/stop problem with the movement returned...unexpectedly of course. I decided it wasn't worth the trouble as the 1-yr warranty had expired. Wish I had my money back.

I have had this watch for about 10 years now and was just checking around to see if it is still made, and to my surprise it still is, which is good. I have worn this watch to work almost everyday on from when I got to about 2006. I stopped wearing it because my cell phone has a clock and was using that. My wife took over the watch and started wearing it to work. Her job involved putting her hands in water and chicken fat daily throughout the day. I thought well that's it for my Swiss Army watch. Needless to say about 6 months ago I took on a job where I needed a wrist watch. I found my old watch, the leather band I had put on it was destroyed and the watch was not working. I brought to my local watch guy and told him to replace the battery. At first with the new battery nothing happened, watch didn't work. I told him, the contacts are probably dirty, the watch has been through hell. He took the battery out cleaned the contacts and put the battery back in. Voila, the watch is keeping perfect time! While I was there I purchased a new band and he cleaned the watch up for me with whatever they use. With the new band and the cleanup, the watch looks brand new again. He only charged for the battery, $5, and a new black leather band, $18. You cannot kill this watch. If this one every really broke, I would not hesitate to buy another in a heartbeat.

I've had my Victorinox Swiss Army Renegade watch since 1999 or 2000. Mine originally had a nylon strap, but it is essentially the same watch. it's been great over the years and I still include it in my watch rotation. Other than a single band replacement, and some new batteries, it has been a flawless, trusty companion. The design is timeless, and it's not a hefty as some newer watches, but that's part of its charm. The case is a tough back plastic; mine has developed some "personality" over the years, yet still looks great. This is a great choice if you're looking for an affordable Swiss-made timepiece. - Victorinox - Swiss Army - Swiss Army Watch - Sport Watch'

Digital Camera Accessory - filters, 58mm filter

I see that in the negative ratings here the people simply misunderstood what these are for. They are to move your camera in CLOSER to the subject and simulate a macro lens. What they do is essentially act as a magnifying glass. And like one, you need to move it in and out till you find the appropriate distance for it to work properly. This is not a tele-converter.

I find they work quite well. I have had macro lenses in which the subject takes up the sensor, a 1:1 ratio. These however allow for the subject to assault the sensor. Instead of life size these make for race of super giant monster sized. Ultra macro can be achieved with the small expenditure of fifteen bucks.

I find there is no outstanding vignetting or aberrations. At the highest magnifications there is an extremely shallow depth of field, so be sure you are prepared to work with that if you plan on working in those types of magnification.

Overall a great product, and with macro lenses starting at $500, I encourage you to sacrifice just a little of that macro lens fund to just give these a try and see if you can't go spend that extra money saved up on a hot date, camera geek. Digital Concepts 1 2 4 10 Close-Up Macro Filter Set with Pouch (58mm)

These are a great buy. You can't beat the price for added flexibility. They attach easily and do their job (magnifying the image) really well.

Couple of things to mention- one is that of course, once these are attached to the lens one has to use manual focus. That could be a problem for folks trying to shoot things that move quickly. Additionally, the DOF narrows significantly with the stronger magnifications. This could be a problem if you're shooting insects. Neither of these issues have to do with this manufacturer nor the vendor, but rather limitations of the product itself.

For me though, these diopters work extremely well for my purposes (artistic, abstract photography and flower macros.) I find the functionality to be excellent. My only complaint, and considering what I got for the price, it's a small complaint, is about the packaging. Personally, I would prefer a case with non-scratch surfaces, but the folding, wallet design is a good one. All in all, an excellent product and a great value for the money.

I use these to take picture of jewelry for an auction company and in a studio setting and they turn out wonderful. It is a little harder especially with +10 to shoot insects in nature as the DOF is so small you could focus on the grasshopper's body and the legs will be out of focus. Be sure to set a decent aperture.

It takes a lot of time to get a good picture but it is possible. No trouble with the other magnifications. (+1 +2 +4) I generally use the Canon 50mm f1.4 with this lens and it works well. perhaps a lens with a real zoom would work better. Cheap and worth it.

Some time ago, I had a 52mm +10 closeup I'd purchased from a local Wolf Camera. Was a great little filter to experiment with. I sold the camera and lenses/filters I had when I upgraded to a D80 w/ Nikon 18-200 lens, and never did find a 72mm +10 filter until I saw this set on Amazon. But I was hesitant due to the price. I paid $30 for the one 52mm +10 filter, and here are 4 filters, including a +10, for less than $15 total? Recently sold the 18-200mm lens, and got a couple Sigma lenses (18-50 and 70-300), and finally caved and added the 58mm versions of these filters. I figured as cheap as they were, even if they were pure crap, it wouldn't be a big loss.

What I've found is the +10 in this set produces far less distortion at the edges than the one I got from Wolf. However, the image is very hazy. It's easily fixable with some contrast boost, so it's only a minor annoyance (and the reason I went with 4 instead of 5 stars).

The best way to use these filters is to put them on your longest lens for maximum effect, set your lens to manual focus @ infinity, and get close to whatever your taking a picture of. REAL close. With the 70-300 @ 300mm and the +10 filter I can get within ~2 inches of my subject. Auto-focus will not work, don't even try. Instead, keep the lens at infinity, and physically move your lens closer or farther from the subject to bring it into focus. The depth of field is practically non-existent at this magnification, so make your movements very slow, and very shallow. Your pictures will also greatly benefit from a lot of light, ideally you'll use a ring flash, or set a slave flash to fire when you snap your shot. On-board flash may cause more problems than it's worth, and will likely produce a shadow from your lens. A hot-show flash will help some, but you really want the light pointing at your subject, and that's just too difficult when it's sitting back next to your face.

I will talk about the product and not the seller I purchased from.

Yes, this is a "macro" filter attachment that will allow you to get closer to your subject.

You can use auto focus but you will limit yourself to the amount of magnification that you can use to get as close to the subject as possible. Manual focus will allow you to get super close. I mean so close that is you are using a built in flash you will get a shadow from the camera lens. (thats how close you will be able to get)

These work great. They do drastically change depth of field so take that into account when you are first trying them out.

I am having an issue using some of my filters with it. The threads dont match up very well so I cant use my UV or polarizer because I dont want to cross-thread them. Also, I had to spend a lot of time when these arrived. They were dirty and two of them had some weird black goo on them.

Overall for the money, (I changed this)if you are looking for this item, you might want to pay a little more for better glass.

Update to my original review. This is cheap cheap cheap glass! While changing my 10X it fell 2 inches onto my cameras remote that was sitting on my bed. The glass is chipping, and continuing to chip. I cant use it anymore because I do not want to spread glass chips into my lens. Shop around and you might want to think about going with another manufacturer. - Macro - 58mm Filter - Close Up Lens - Filters'

Usb Adapter - computer cables, usb adapter

This product worked just fine and came with drivers and everything it needed. The only thing is that I was planing to use this parallel port to run relays, but the problem is that Windows will only recognize this as a printer port and can not control the pins individually. Windows will only see this as a printer, therefore do not buy this product unless it will be used only for a parallel printer. Syba SD-USB-DB25 USB 2.0 to Paralle/IEEE 1284 Port Adapter, Prolific Chipset

I thought I'd ad a quick review to let others know that this device does in fact work with Windows 7.

I recently purchased a new PC and found out that my motherboard no longer has a built in parallel port. I decided to buy this adapter as I could connect it to my existing cable (which stretches a good 6 feet to my printer). I'd heard about issues with Windows 7 and support for printers but hoped that my old HP LaserJet 4L was still considered a 'staple' on the drivers front.

After connecting the adapter to the cable and my PC, Windows 7 recognized the new device right away. I started to hunt around Windows for 'Adding a new printer device' but thankfully my LaserJet was auto-configured and seen in the control panel all on its own. I loaded up my word processor and did a quick print of some formatted text and it worked just fine.

(* One other quick comment I'll add to this post - I have been told that Windows 7 can be flaky with front panel USB sockets which often go thru an internal hub separate from the motherboard. If you experience issues with USB devices ensure you connect them in the BACK to USB ports on the motherboard itself. I have noticed this issue first hand with cameras & camcorders.)

All the best.

I used this cable to connect an older HP Laserjet printer to a newer Dell computer that didn't have the traditional printer port, only USB connections. Worked great, no configuration required. The new Dell is running Windows 7.

Despite opinions from some reviewers,

This product works straight from package to the pc without need of drivers.

One reviewer here says some one about "cable does not emulate a printer",

come on! how one cable can emulate one printer???.

One printer is a device very complex. A single cable can not emulate it. Not more to say.

The USB to PARALLEL adapter (like this) is a device that converts 2 different signaling communication protocols known as USB and PARALLEL.

When using this adapter, the computer sends data to the parallel printer using USB signaling protocol,

then this device converts the sent data to PARALLEL signaling protocol (this is the protocol that parallel printer understands), after this the printer responds sending to computer PARALLEL data too, using PARALLEL signaling protocol, then this device converts the sent data to USB signaling protocol, because for this connection, the computer is talking in USB signaling protocol.

This process is repeated between the Computer and the Printer until the end.

COMPUTER --> USB/PARALLEL --> PRINTER

PRINTER --> PARALLEL/USB --> COMPUTER

COMPUTER --> USB/PARALLEL --> PRINTER

..

..

This cable adapter is really a signaling protocol converter between USB and PARALLEL, and works VERY WELL doing your job.

I recommend this device (Syba SD-USB-DB25 USB 2.0 to Paralle/IEEE 1284 Port Adapter, Prolific Chipset) with 5 stars. It works without problems. Good construction and enough cable length.

One comment for GNU/LINUX Users: When configuring CUPS for use with this device, the Device URI must be: usb:/dev/usb/lp0

One last comment: Is better to use one USB to DB25 Paralle/IEEE 1284 Port Adapter (like this) than "printer adapters" (USB to Printer cable).

Happy printing..!

I used this cable to connect my ten year old HP Color Laser Jet 4500 - to a new Dell PC with Windows 7(64 bit Home Premium).

The cable came with a driver/installation mini CD, but it wasn't needed. Plug and Play was all it took and the parallel port was live.

I installed the printer through the Windows control panel and everything worked. I did have to click the "Windows Update" button on

the install page, as the printer was not initially listed, but that's all it took. I'm very pleased.

This product does not work. Nothing against the vendor. They sent me a second one and are willing to refund my money. But, I connected it to a printer that has a 36 pin IEEE 1284 parallel port and neither one ever worked.

I have an HP dv60t laptop computer with Windows 7.

I wanted to connect this computer to my HP DeskJet 722C printer.

This has been a good deal for me for 3 main reasons:

(1) This product was shipped to me within 3 days.

(2) The installation was "plug-and-go". The computer automatically found its own appropriate drivers. If it would have not worked, then the mini-CD which came with it would have provided the necessary help.

(3) In the end, it simply worked with no problems for me. My computer and my printer are now talking. - Computer Cables - Printer Cable From Usb Port - Usb Adapter'

Driving Force Gt - extension, usb extension cable

I came across this particular USB 2.0 cable when I was trying to find an extension cable for my logitech bluetooth radio. Most of the cables I came across were either white (I wanted black), too short, or too expensive for how much I felt was conscionable to spend on a simple USB cable. Then I found this cable. It is 6 feet long which is long enough for most applications, has male-to-female connectors (makes it behave as an extension cable versus a normal connection cable), and it is black. Not to mention it's priced right.

Although I have not tested specifics such as data transmission rate, I doubt most people care about those sort of details. Most people want to know simply, "Does it work?". The answer is yes, absolutely fine. The build quality is good, not exactly top quality, but it does feel like it is worth more than it's price ($4.99 at the time of this review). The female connector makes a nice solid and tight connection. What more do you need?

If you are looking for an inexpensive, black, 6 foot long USB 2.0 cable that works: this will serve you perfectly and I recommend it. Mediabridge - Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Extension Cable - A-Male to A-Female - (6 feet)

If you're looking for a reliable USB 2.0 Extension cable made to connect two standard male to female USB cables, made by a reputable cable company, then look no further! This cable is the perfect length(6ft) to connect to pretty much anything on or near your computer desk. If you buy a cable longer than you need, you're just hurting your USB speed, because the longer the cable, the longer the time it takes data to travel through it.(HDMI cable is an exception.) I have purchased many cables from MediaBridge over the years, and I will continue to buy from them because of their competitive price, and quality cable construction.

Worked flawlessly. Mine is Gold plated. Suppose to make a difference. Works fine and transfers data easily. I used this USB extension with a Logitech Driving Force GT racIng wheel. The cord on the wheel is really long but about 3 feet too short for my needs. I bought this to give it that extra few feet. The Data transfer has not suffered from what I can gather. Driving response is still very accurate with no hiccups.

works great and it's easier than crawling under my desk to plug in USB drives, etc. Great to avoid having a camera hanging on the front of your computer if you have a Flip or other camera with built-in connector.

I bought this to extend the charging cable with my iPhone 4. Works great. Other reviews mentioned slower charge times, I have not noticed this but I am primarily using this to charge overnight. Overall excellent for the price.

I use this little puppy to extend my wired XBOX 360 controller to the Media Center PC attached to a big screen. It sure does beat having to purchase a wireless receiver for $40. Considering I wrap this up with a controller and plug/unplug it often, no issues have occurred so far. - Usb Extension Cable - Extension - Usb - Usb Cable'

Sonic Toothbrushes - electric toothbrush, sonic toothbrushes

This is my second Sonicare product and I remain very impressed. I previously used the Elite for two years and my only annoyance was the design of the Elite brush head and handle. The Elite brush consisted of a screw-on dome that no matter how hard I tried to keep it dry and clean on the inside, it would always get dirty and gross and there was no way to clean it. Similarly on the Elite handle, a deep well that the magnet from the brush head would insert when brush and handle were joined would also collect dirt and was impossible to keep clean. This wasn't a health issue but it was just gross to look at when you disassembled the brush after each use. I found that if I didnt disassemble, a black mold type substance would grow. Even taking it apart after every use would not deter this growth eventually.

The new Flexcare brush fixes all of these issues. Gone are the deep crevices and unreachable traps for dirt and moisture. The brush head simply inserts onto a pin on top of the handle. The handle on the Flexcare is smaller than the Elite. As for the reduction in sound and vibration, I can't agree with the packaging because it sounds and feels the same as the Elite to me. There are many more cleaning modes however I just use the clean mode as I did before.

Both products clean my teeth nearly as good as the dentist. I always thought an electronic TB was a waste and was finally convinced by my dentist to try one. If you never have used one, you will be amazed at the difference from a manual brush. It takes some getting used to but you will see and feel the difference. See for yourself. After a couple of weeks try a manual brush and your mouth just doesnt feel clean at all. The package contains a charger, travel pouch, travel charger, UV brush sanitizer, 1 regular and one small brush head. My only gripe is that the travel pouch is soft where the Elite had a hard plastic case that held and cradled both the handle and brush. The new cloth pouch offers no protection from crushing or keeping the brush from hitting and possibly scratching the handle.

The instructions say you can put the handle in the dishwasher however at this price, I'm not brave enough to try that one. A Great product. If you are shopping for an electric TB, this is the one to get. Your teeth and gums will thank you. I also endure less scraping at the dentist since using this product so that alone is worth the price of this product.

I've owned a Philips Sonicare before this. I dont remember the model. But it was their top-of-the line brush about 4 yrs ago. It stopped working since the little green button got jammed. Both that model & this one have it sealed. So you cant fix it yourself, God forbid that happens. So go easy on that button.

As far as the brushing action is concerned, if you have NEVER used a sonic brush before, then yeah - its great. I've read some reviewers stating toothpaste flying about. You have to be a "leetle stoopid" not to figure around this, if you dont get it right the first time. Just apply the paste about on all your teeth till there's nothing sitting on the brush head. Then operate it.

Another comment was that the brush is a little loud. No its not. And I live in a quiet environment. Its not noiseless of course. Someone near you will hear it. Not the neighbours.

It has a massage mode that is quite nice. You still brush with the same bristles really. But the pulses are more controlled.

The 2 min brush cycle beeps every 30 secs or so to remind you to change position. Again, that's not a new feature over the old brush. Also, the most important point is IMO, the brushing action. I dont consider it to be superior to the prev Sonicare Elite. It did not feel that way at least.

It does have one advantage over the older model. No housing recess for the magnets. So there's no stinky gunk buildup in that chamber. You'll appreciate this if you owned the earlier models. Otherwise, disregard.

All in all, a good brush.

No I did not waste money on the sanitizer. Use Hydrogen Peroxide 3% from your friendly, or otherwise neighbourhood chemist. The sonic action with the peroxide should shake the hell off any bacteria in the bristles. Dont waste money on the sanitizer please. - Sonic Toothbrushes - Toothbrush - Electric Toothbrush - Flexcare'

Action Adventure - cables, playstation 2

Amazon asked me to rate the game and it's fun level...Well, the game I am playing is great fun and I love it, however that is arbitrary because it has nothing to do with the extension cable. However, this extension cable works fantastically and I quite like it! I have no problems with it what-so-ever, it works as it is described to. PS2 Controller Extension Cable - 6 Foot

Now that we're all getting bigger TV's, we're not sitting as close as we used to. For those of us who have yet to upgrade to a PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii, we have two options: Go and buy an expensive wireless controller (I'm not knocking on them, it's just... when you're playing old-school games, you're either nostalgic or on a budget) or pick up one of these bad boys. I haven't had a problem with mine since I got it. It's worked great. I've got two running off of a Ps2 slim. Get it! It's worth it.

What can be said other than it is a simple extension. It does what it's supposed to do. Originally purchased because I was tired of changing out batteries on the wireless controllers, So when I bought a set of Katana wired controllers, I did not want my boys to trip on the cable and drop the game system. However, after ordering these and the controllers at the same time, it turns out we did not need the extension, the controllers have a long enough extension. If you are looking to further the distance between you and the TV then these will do the trick at a good price. - Cables - Playstation 2 - Accessories - Action Adventure'

V3 Razr Battery - razr battery, great deal

The fourth one wouldn't hold a charge for more than an hour. Not worth the shipping to send it back but three out of rour isn't bad at this price. Be sure to oreder a few if this same problem happens to you. NEW OEM MOTOROLA BATTERY RAZR v3 v3r v3t V3m V3i BR50 SNN5696B

I got this battery and a month later it died and wouldn't hold a charge. I compared it to the original that came with my phone and I discovered something. If you look at the hologram on the original it says original and this battery did not have that on it. I pulled off the platic that said motorola to find other printings on this battery, Hmmm makes you wonder if your getting ripped off.

I bought 4 batteries hoping the law of averages would work in my favor. Well I've these pieces of junk for almost 2 months now. I used to have to plug my phone in ever night and the battery would be dead by the end of the day. The new ones are dead by the middle of the next day. The only thing better is now I have five relatively useless batteries. So i generally always carry around a spare. Totally stupid. I dont know if that is AccessoryOne's fault or not. But the batteries suck! I suppose it was almost worth the month spent.

RAZR v3/BR50 battery, purchased online thru an independent Amazon provider, turns out to have less than 50% of the same type of battery provided originally by Motorola with the phone when new, about three years ago. Charge, when full, lasts less than 2 days at full strength and is virtually dead on third day. Original BR50 still able to outdistance the replacement. Conditions of use: Phone on but not in communication.

Price for the BR50 was improbably low, and wouldn't you know???... So was the quality. This review based on several recharge events. results consistent.

Overall purchase process was satisfactory. Billing and credit charge debit was very prompt. Delivery was sluggish. Product appears to be a genuine Motorola item. Performance so far is up to par. Shipping and handling charge was out of proportion to size and weight of product. Multiple items on same shipment was not available, ergo I only ordered one.

The product arrived relatively on time. The quality of the battery is questionable, certainly a reconditioned one, not new as I assumed through the ad description. Only holds a charge max 3 days with minimal talk time used. My original new battery held a charge for a week. Oh well, that's why new batteries are twice as expensive! The battery I received looked new but is far from new.

Although it didn't arrive in OEM style packaging, the battery was as advertised. Charged it up and holds way longer then the year old battery it replaced. Mine is used in a Motorola PEBL. I will look for this vendor "SF Planet" next time I need a battery!

The product was delivered promptly. However, they were not the ones I ordered, and they did not work at all. They were not BR50 SNN5696B. When I attempted to charge, the battery died both times (I ordered two).

I won't order again. It is worth it to go to directly to the phone store and pay the $30 for a quality battery.

What started as a seemingly bright opportunity to get a quality product inexpensively turned out to be an opportunity for the seller only.

This battery is junk. I wish I saved the old battery that came with my RAZR V3; I thought that the old was bad... Well, this one is worse and I am buying another type; this time not Motorola but a clone.

If you think that this is just a single lemon, I actually bought two of these. Unfortunately, my daughter's RAZR V3 does not stay up long with her "new" battery either...

I would give no stars at all if there was an option like that. - Cell Phone Battery - Great Deal - Razr Battery - Br50'

Panasonic Cordless Phone - caller id, with answering device

This is without question, the best land line phone I have ever seen! Please look at my other reviews, you will see that I am NOT a paid reviewer to write what the manufacturer wants.

This phone does EVERYTHING! Sound is crystal clear. Both handsets and base unit have lit displays. Both have selectable ringer tones and volume. Each has independent "phone books" which can be copied from the base unit to the handsets or vice versa. Both the base unit and handsets have speaker phones. The phone books are super easy to program.

The answering system with date/day/time works terrifically! You can select pre-recorded message or make your own. The answering system capacity is 18 minutes or 64 messages. You can select between 2 and 7 rings before the answering system engages.

I like that the base unit works during power outages.

I especially like the five "speed dial" buttons to phone frequent friends or family with just one button. Great!

Call blocking works well.

Cordless handsets have great range and use rechargeable AAA batteries (included). The handset cradle recharges the batteries. The cordless handsets light up. You can access the answering machine via the cordless handsets.

It has a "handset locator".

It supports English and Espahol. Instruction manual is well written and easy to use.

It even has an "alarm clock" feature.

I have not found a better land line phone! Strongly recommend! Panasonic Dect 6.0 Metallic Gray Cordless/Corded Phone with Answering Machine (KX-TG1062M)

I was torn whether to rate this 4 or 5 stars. For my simple needs, it's definitely a 5, but it does have some quirks.

Good:

Great sound quality. Corded base for power outages. Speakerphone (which works great) on all components, both base and handsets. Access to answering system messages from all components. Functions as an intercom (and very well, too). 100-number phone book, which can be copied between units either in total or one entry at a time, and nine phone number groups that you can give custom names. Five-number quick dial buttons on base. Large, easy-to-use buttons. Uses rechargeable AA's (I *think* - might have been AAA's - standard batteries, anyway) instead of the expensive proprietary kind. Supports up to six handsets.

Not so good:

Some menus confusing. Direct-access to functions using "#" and a numeric code a joke, to me - I want to navigate to a function using an intuitive menu, not look up a code in the user manual. On base unit, LCD contrast is not high enough to read display without backlight (at least in the location we've got it). Does not have a memo function as our previous (but much lower quality) system did, so I'm in the market for a fridge magnet recorder thingie now - which is just fine by my husband, as he hated my leaving messages to myself on the answering machine....! ;-> ) Cannot copy phone number groups between units - if you use that function, you'd have to name the groups on each unit and put each phone number in a group individually.

The reason I gave it a "5" nevertheless is that the "not so good" things I listed mean virtually nothing to me for my simple needs, especially when bounced against the "good" things, which *do* mean a lot to me. Your mileage may vary, which is why I tried to list everything I've noticed about the unit so far.

I've owned this phone for just over a week and there are several things I like about it.

1. The handsets use two AAA batteries, instead of the specialized battery components common with digital phones. As my experience with my last phone, an AT&T model, left me without the ability to replace the battery, this one thing significantly affected my view.

2. Once you get the knack of the memory storage function that part of it is really quite simple to use, and much of the functions of the phone then become fairly intuitive.

3. The phone is operational when electrical power is out, which is a moderately common problem where I live due to thunderstorms.

There is one thing I don't like about this phone, but it is a small complaint: the voice control only raises the volume to a certain level and leaves me unable to hear at the level of volume that I'd prefer. However, this is a small complaint for the simple fact that if I pay close attention, which I should do anyway, I manage to understand all that is being said over the line.

The phone comes with a nice and unique ringer that can be heard from quite a distance. The handset use is very simple and easy to understand, requiring no reading of instructions to actually begin use.

Setting the timing of the automatic answering recorder is fairly simple as well. I've got mine set to record at six rings.

While I'm still learning about my new phone I must say that I am more than well pleased with it. It's far superior to the last phone I owned simply because of the type of batteries used. I appreciate Panasonic for actually considering the requirements of the user when they designed this phone.

I recommend it. This phone is very nice for the price and is as good, or better, than any other phone at this price level. - Caller Id - Corded Cordless Combo - With Answering Device - Panasonic Cordless Phone'
