Angry - cute, soft

My son wanted an angry birds plush, so I thought I'd get him this little clip on bird...he loved it! I think it was a little pricey for such a small item, but he enjoys it, and that is all that matters Angry Birds Plush Backpack Clip - Red Bird

One of my young nieces is an Angry Birds fan, so I bought this AB clip for her school backpack. It's very soft, about two inches in diameter, and has a plastic carabiner-type clip for attaching to things.

I don't know how durable it will prove to be, but it appears to be well-made, and for less than $6, it was a pretty good buy.

My niece loves it!

This makes a fantastic gift for any Angry Birds fan! I got it for a friend of mine who gets every special edition angry birds game that comes out and plays incessantly. He was absolutely thrilled! And now I know I can get him the rest of the angry birds clip ons as gifts for another time!

This Angry Birds plush backpack clip is just cute. I got it for my son for his backpack but probably won't use for fer of it getting taken. Will clip it somewhere safe. Just a fun novelty to have. It's about 3" in diameter and the clip is pretty sturdy. Gets adults talking and makes people smile. - Soft - Angry Birds - Cute'

With fast shooting high mega pixel cameras, the CF card can be a major performance factor. Why have one of these cameras and use a card that cannot keep up? When I bought my 8.2 mp Canon 20D, I decided it was time to get a second CF card so the research started.

The Ultra II cards write with a minimum of 9 mb/sec. and read at 10 mb/sec. These fast write speeds are desirable with large image files. There are cameras with buffers to hold images while writing to the card during continuous shots. At some point if the card cannot write fast enough, your camera will stop shooting until the buffer clears enough room.

This card has a high impact rating. For example; if you were to accidentally drop this card 10-foot up to then hit the floor, this card is rated to sustain the fall without damage.

Sometimes the trade off on price comes from power consumption. Lower priced cards may use more power to do the same job as this card. The low power consumption of this card means a longer battery life.

People generally want to know how many images a card will hold. This is a difficult question to answer and greatly depends on both the card and the camera it is used in. The number of images this card will hold on my 20D also depends on the settings used. Let me provide a few settings and image counts for an idea of what this card holds.

Shooting Raw w/ISO 100 - 221 images

Shooting Raw w/ISO 800 - 206 images

Shooting Large jpeg - 479 images

Shooting Medium jpeg - 825 images

Shooting Small jpeg over 999 images (the 20D cannot provide counts above 999)

I use both a 1GB and a 2GB card shooting primarily raw images. Sometimes the 1GB card is more than adequate, but other times I could easily fill the 1GB card quickly. There have been many days where I have taken 200-300 pictures without the opportunity to transfer my images. The 2GB card not only gives me more storage space, but also permits me to change the card in a slow moment before it completely fills up. It is truly aggravating to lose a shot because your card filled up. For these reasons I tend to prefer the 2GB cards. When considering the card size, one should attempt to balance convenience with capacity. Having one card for all your images may be convenient, but it is also putting all your eggs in one basket.

Worried about reliability? It's backed with a lifetime limited warranty outside Europe. The warranty excludes any defects, malfunctions, performance failures or damages to the card resulting from use in other than its normal and customary manner, misuse, accident or neglect; or improper alterations or repairs.

PROS:

Reliable

Fast read/write

Impact resistant

Low power consumption

Backed by a lifetime limited warranty

CONS:

None SanDisk Ultra Compact Flash 2GB Card (SDCFH-002G-A11) (Retail Package)

Two gigabytes in a pretty fast CF card for well under $100 (March 2006) is a pretty darned good deal. I have used this card constantly in my Nikon D70s with excellent results. While there may be faster cards, this one is plenty fast, and allows my Nikon to shoot approximately 258 RAW shots. Pretty impressive. While pros may notice a difference in image saving speed in situations involving top-of-the-line pro digital cameras and rapid-fire sports shots and the like, most amateurs will not, and most digital cameras probably cannot save images as fast as this card anyway, causing the camera, not the CF card, to be the bottleneck.

Right now 2 Gigabytes seems to be at the "sweet spot" of price/performance for these cards, and here Sandisk has produced an excellent product. I have used Sandisk CF cards for years and found them to be reliable and quick. This 2GB card is an excellent value.

Remember Goldilocks and the Three Bears story? In DSLR and CompactFlash cards story, run-of-the-mill discount memory cards are too slow. Top-of-the-line memory cards are faster than necessary. SanDisk's Ultra II series is just right.

Ask professional photographers which memory cards they use, they will probably answer Lexar and/or SanDisk. With increasing number of DSLR enthusiasts shooting in RAW format, which consumes between 5 to 15 MB (generally 1 MB per megapixel), the demand for high capacity and high performance memory card is higher than ever.

For Canon DSLR photographers, SanDisk has been more ideal choice. Although the problem should be fully resolved by now, there was an issue where Lexar's high speed CompactFlash memory cards sometimes lost images against Canon DSLRs. Sealing the deal is SanDisk Ultra II's excellent performance and lower price.

My DSLR is Canon Digital Rebel XTi, where each RAW consumes nearly 10 MB. In continuous shooting mode, the camera's internal buffer can hold 9 RAWs at 3 frames per second. With slower memory card, it can shoot 10 RAWs at 3 fps. With faster memory card such as Ultra II, it can shoot 12 RAWs at 3 fps. Here's the kicker. Even with faster SanDisk Extreme IV and Lexar Professional 133x memory cards, it did not exceed 12 RAWs.

On paper, SanDisk's Ultra II series is only so so. At 9 MB/sec for write and 10 MB/sec for read, it is 4 times slower than Extreme IV's 40 MB/sec for read and write ratings. Yet they perform nearly the same. What gives? The limitation lies in DSLR's CompactFlash interface. On Rob Galbraith's CF/SD Performance Database, none of the cameras exceeded 10 MB/sec. In fact, most DSLRs peaked at 8 MB/sec. In other words, SanDisk's Ultra II represents the real world maximum for DSLR use.

What about capacity? As I write this, 2 GB offers highest capacity per dollar. The trend will undoubtedly change and I am certain by next year, 4 GB will offer greater bang for the buck. Fearful of memory card failure, which does happen from time-to-time (particularly in challenging weather condition), many photographers prefer to carry multiple lower capacity memory cards vs. one large capacity memory card. Use your own judgment, budget, shooting style to determine which is right for you. As far as the performance is concerned, SanDisk's Ultra II series is just right for your DSLR. - Memory - Sandisk - 2gb - Photography'

Sink Pop-up Drain

I love this faucet, it lights up just like it says, however if you don't get all the water out of the glass the light stays on, so you have to turn it on and then shut it off real quick to get the water out of the channel. Another issue is if you have older plumbing be prepared to pay a plumber to install. I tried to install but there was a lot of problems getting faucet to go in. And then once it was installed the hoses leaked. For a 60 dollar faucet I ended up paying over $250 in plumbing cost to get it installed. It's a cool product but just be prepared for unexpected cost. Modern Single Handle Waterfall Bathroom Vanity Vessel Sink LED Faucet, Chrome

Other people have spoken of the pluses of this faucet so I'll just cut to chase with the flaw. The piece of glass that the water flows out of wasn't designed to drain properly; water surface tension keeps in water in the chamber. Since the LED light is triggered by the presence of water, it's constantly on.

Yes, you can run your finger along the bottom edge to break the surface tension but you really shouldn't to and guests can't be expected to do so.

If you can live with that issue, it's a lot of "gee whiz" for the money.

Aboslutely Love it!! Fabulous faucet adds style to our bathroom. The lever glides smoothly and easy to use. The LED light changes colors when the water temperature increases and decreases. The red light would flash to let you know when the water gets too hot. I highly recommend this stylish faucet, a great quality piece.

Overall, this is a good, modern faucet which really stands out in the bathroom. The LEDs work great and I have not had the problem of lights staying on due to water being trapped in the glass.

The only problem is with the design - the faucet is bigger than it looks and it actually takes up over a third of the sink, leaving less room than I'm used to for washing. Also, the spout is a little too wide so if your water valves are turned on all the way, the water will spill out of the sink. I have my valves partially closed to avoid that problem and that is working OK. The company offers a smaller size of this type of faucet, which would be worth looking into. All in all I am happy with this purchase.

We love the way this faucet looks, but installation was a NIGHTMARE! We had to buy a dremel, several new drill bits, a rasp and several diamond tipped dremel bits in order to make the sink hole large enough to fit the fauct bolts and supply lines. It took us hours. We even took the faucet to Home Depot because after our 4th trip there to try to make the sink's hole large enough, they did not beleive that the faucet would not be made to fit the hole. Buyer beware and be prepared to spend hours on the installation.

I just received this faucet 2 days ago and had the opportunity to install it today. I bought this for the unique design and the novelty of it lighting up. I went to install this in our guest bathroom, and as I got deeper and deeper into the job I realized this fixture is not what its cracked up to be. First problem is that the hoses were way too short, so a trip to 4 hardware stores and a plumbing supply store tell me it was a proprietary hose to this manufacturer and this hose is not available. I now also realize that the 1/2 inch fitting on the hose will not fit my 3/8 comp. fitting on my water valve. I was forced at this point to purchase two other small hoses for the reach and 2 brass adapters to unite these hoses together.I figured that even with the extra parts to buy I was still slightly ahead of the game financially on this project. I then proceeded to thread the hoses that came with the faucet on to the base of it and went ahead with my installation. When I tested the faucet with the adapters and extra hoses I installed, I noticed a major leak and it was not from the union of the hoses, it was coming from the base of the faucet. I removed the faucet and noticed that the O rings on these hoses was pinched and bulged out of the hole they were supposed to be in. I pulled the hoses off and tried to figure this problem out, I tried several more times to install them with the same problem. This is when I noticed the difference between American machining of parts and Chinese machining of parts, one of the holes was threaded slightly off center, and this was the problem. I then proceeded to try without the O rings and using teflon tape, no results. After hours of fooling with this poorly crafted piece of junk, I tried something that the manufacturer did not, the hoses had one end in a metric size, while the other was standard or American thread size, I went to my toolbox and found some old A/C O rings that I had when I had worked on import cars years ago. I found 2 metric O rings that were just a hair smaller than the ones on the hose originally, I replaced them, used teflon tape, and even with a crooked cut thread I was able to stop the leaking on this faucet. It seems to me that the people shipping these out to the US are installing standard O rings on metric fittings. I also replaced the drain with a popup type and that went a little smoother. In the end this faucet took way longer and more money to install, than if I had bought a US version of this not to mention the almost five hours spent on it. My suggestion, if you are willing to deal with some agravation and have patience, then the end result is worth it. Also I noticed that when you shut the valve off the LED's stay lit until the water drains from the glass housing, this can take a few hours. The fix for that is after you use the faucet, if the LED's stay lit rub your finger back and forth across the water outlet area and it will drain enough water to shut the LED's off.

I have a glass (bowl) vanity and this makes an excellent faucet for the same. The drawback is the LED light doesn't go off. Open and close the tap quickly or wipe off the excess water from the glass panel are the only solutions...'

Reciprocating Saw Blades - power tools, razor blade

I just got my Porter Cable tiger Saw (see my reviews), well the saw only came with one blade so the next day I bought these blades. They were just the thing I was looking for, wood cutting, metal cutting and heavy metal cutting blades. The case is the selling feature, both sides lock, good construction. The blades cut brass pipe like butter too. Buy them here, I bought at HD and paid $25. DEWALT DW4890 15-Piece Reciprocating Saw Blade Tough Case Set

First class DeWalt quality recprocating saw blades that are packaged in a compact case. Great for the homeowner or contractor. The blades are great quality and hold their sharpness longer then most blades. The best part of this package is the case to keep the blades in. Just buy replacement blades and fill up the case again. Fits into the same box as the saw.

This is a good solid case. I purchased my orginal case two years ago and it has survived several construction projects. It is great for keeping freash blades sorted and within easy reack. There are plently of compartments so I use mine to hold my jigsaw blades as well. No more hunting in the bottem of the tool box when a blade breaks or bends.

This is a great set of blades they are sharp and keep a good edge. I orderd these with my hitichi saw and they work great. However I did find these blades a little short, I needed to cut a double header out and had to run to home depot to get a longer blade.

This is a nice set for most people. Give you a good selection for most jobs. Really like the case. I can put almost all my blades in there and toss it in my bag with the saw without them getting all bent and mixed up. Would have given it 5 stars if the case were bigger to hold longer blades.

Great blades, everything you need with the exception of a longer demolition blade. The case is worth the price alone...holds lots of blades and fits neatly in my tool bag with my saw. I love my Dewalt tools.

I bought this more for the case, but the sawzall blades are of good quality and durability. Once you burn through the blades, just buy more to fill up the case! Its also helpful not to have a bunch of loose blades in your tool bag. - Razor Blade - Power Tools - Sawzall - Dewalt'

Really stunning men's watch! I received it very quickly from Amazon.com and am thoroughly satisfied. I purchased this for my fiance for his 50th birthday - the only thing I was disappointed with is the back of the watch is so inscribed by the manufacturer that there is no room for me to have a personal message engraved. I should have Googled images of it. Raymond Weil 9541-ST-00658 Men's Parsifal Stainless Steel Watch - Swiss Quartz - Chronograph - Watches - Elegant'

Great Stocking Stuffers - finger, led lights

I ordered these for party favors for my daughters 7th birthday. They are really cute. They each have an indivual tag on them, so you could give as gifts if you wanted. The only problem I had was they are made big. My daughter and her friends will have to use them as anklets, which I am sure will be fine with them. They would probably be perfect braclets for a pre-teen. Girls Elastic Rainbow Peace Bracelets Girls Party Favors: Set of 12 - Party - Finger - Glow - Led Lights'

Historical Fiction - world war ii, historical romance

I was privileged to read a version of this romance several years ago, and it was stunning. I've bugged the author endlessly about publishing it as an ebook, and, finally, she did it! As soon as I discovered that it was available, I bought a copy for my Kindle. Now, let me tell you why this story remained in my mind all these years.

More than likely one reason I was so attracted to this book was because my mother was a young woman during WWII. She kept scrapbooks about every aspect of that era. She played big band music from those decades of her youth, and I grew up listening to it along with rock and roll. Whenever there were old movies from the 1930s and 1940s on TV, I watched them and grew fascinated by what so many film students consider Hollywood's Golden Age.

Take those years leading up to the war, add some of the famous stars from the silver screen, toss in a young woman from Texas and a handsome worldly man unlike any of the boys at home, and you have the makings of a love story for the ages. Like all good romances, there must be conflict, and this story has the deepest, most entrenched conflict of all that was rampant then and still exists today: racial and cultural differences.

You see, the young woman is Anglo, and the man she falls in love with is Japanese American--and the time is an era when those citizens were being eyed with suspicion and distrust. Eventually so many of them were rounded up, their belongings confiscated, and they were placed in camps. It's part of the shame of the war years.

Love conquers all, they say, and Diane is willing to fight the world for the man she loves. This is the kind of love story you'll remember. It Had To Be You is what romance is all about. One woman. One man. Made for each other, regardless of what the world may say. It Had To Be You (A World War II Romance)

It Had to Be You is a sweeping novel set in southern California in the 1930s and 40s. Dianne Castle, small town girl from Texas, arrives in the fast-growing city of Los Angeles with an unusual ambition for the day--she wants to be a journalist.

As the story opens, Dianne witnesses a small plane crash. The tragedy changes Dianne's life, providing her with introductions into both the newspaper world and the Japanese community. These connections bring her into the orbit of the charismatic owner of Club Borneo, Johnny Honda. Passing events pull them together--and drag them apart.

The novel paints a vivid picture of Hollywood before World War II, as Dianne meets Humphrey Bogart at a poker game, spends a weekend visiting Marion Davies at San Simeon, and even rates an occasional mention in Louella Parson's gossip column.

On a more serious note, It Had to Be You follows the prewar bigotry and wartime persecution against the Issei (Japanese-born immigrants like Johnny's mother) and Nisei (first-generation American-born Japanese like Johnny and his contemporaries) in California.

Satisfying on all levels, It Had to Be You is well worth reading. - Historical Romance - World War Ii'
