Travel Adapter - electronics, travel

I purchased this set for a trip to England. The adapter worked like a charm with several different electronic devices that I brought with me. I stayed in three different hotels in different parts of the country and never had any trouble whatsoever. Plug this into the wall, plug your device into this adapter, and you are good to go. It was just that easy and worked perfectly every time. The only thing you have to watch is that whatever you plug in can run on the foreign voltage or you'll need a transformer as well. Fortunately, most devices are now made to run on voltage ranging from 110 to 220 but you should always check just to be sure you don't short out anything. Lenmar AC5 World Travel Adapter Plug Set

Bought two pairs (for myself and a friend). I tried plugging in my cell phone charger and my generic iPod charger, and both fit well into all 5 of the adapters without sticking. I bought these for our trip to Europe (both Ireland/England and continental Europe). A bit cheap construction, but for the price on Amazon, it's worth it. I'll see how well they'll work on our trip, but I'm sure they'll work fine. If not, there's a 3 year warranty.

EDIT: After trip - these worked great in ALL the countries we visited for three weeks (Ireland, England, France, Italy, and Germany)!

This set was exactly what I needed for my business travel to Europe. The adaptors worked well for my laptop, BlackBerry, cell phone, and personal care accessories. Make sure all of your electronics can handle the 240 voltage over there before pluging them in because these adaptors do NOT step the voltage down! Most newer electronics and chargers are rated for the higher voltage and will be fine but be sure to check.

I'm sure that this is a fine adapter set, but be advised that it is ONLY an adapter set. Because the title lists the item as an adapter/CONVERTER, that's what I expected to receive. I feel that this listing is misleading when it says "Product Description

Lenmar AC Plug, Converter Set, 5 Piece, International". I suppose if I knew more about what I was purchasing, I could've seen by the picture that this was only an adapter set, BUT I don't know what a A/C converter is supposed to look like since I don't own one yet. I was relying on the words to guide me.

I am returning the adapter set to purchase one that includes a converter, so I cannot fairly rate this product for what it actually is. Since I had no choice, I assigned the adapter set 3 stars. I'm basing the low rating on the fact that the countries of use are not written directly onto the plugs. Who wants to keep the package and take it along on vacation?

If all you want is every adapter possible, this set is just fine and way cheaper than some of the fancy versions. It came really quickly and packaged well. I needed the British 3-prong one for Oman (don't believe that the whole middle east has only one kind of plug) and it was great. There isn't a converter with these, so be careful. I didn't need one b/c I only wanted to charge my iPod, camera, and phone which auto-adapt.

At first glance, these plugs had a very cheap feel to them (which slightly worried me), but they ended up being great. I just got back from a month long trip to Europe (used the europe/UK plugs), and these plugs worked great. I had no problems whatsoever. For the price, you'd be crazy not to pick them up!

We purchased these for our trip to Europe and they worked great. In London and Europe we used the skinny 2-pronged plug. The fat pronged plug didn't work. In London the 3-pronged plug also worked. Some outlets in England have the 3-prongs and some have the 2-prongs. Because most newer U.S. cords run on both 110 and up to 250 amps, we didn't have any need for converters. Check all of your plugs to see what they need. Our cell phones, laptop, camera, camcorder, I-pods, etc., all state on the plugs that they run on all currents. The only thing that didn't was my hairdryer. Instead of spending a ton of money on a converter I purchased a dual wattage travel hairdryer inexpensively, and took it with me. What I discovered was that the 220 volt current made the hair dryer run very fast, much more than it runs on our current. Most of the time I didn't need it anyway because the places we stayed at provided hair dryers.

That said, I found these to be well-priced and worth the purchase. - Adapter - Electronics - Travel - Converter'

Wifi Radio - wireless music, pandora

Very happy with this purchase. Works even better than I expected.

Connecting it to my wireless network was a breeze. Well, using a single knob to enter my very long network key into the radio was maybe not quite a breeze, but you only do it once. Other than that it was a breeze.

The radio came with a bunch of chinese radio stations set. That was amusing for about 30 seconds. Cleaning them out and setting up something more to my tastes went quickly. There are way more choices out there than most people will have the time to explore. Fortunately it's easy to quickly find something that you'll like. And with access to Pandora (which requires extra steps (including setting up a free account with Grace Reciva (see below))) you can create stations that are tailored to your tastes.

Creating my free account on Grace Reciva to enable "premium" features was a challenge. The website didn't seem to be working too well when I first tried. Lots of "Oops, something seems to have gone wrong and we are working on it" type of messages. I tried later and it went a lot smoother. Linking my Pandora account to the radio was easy (once Reciva started working). Took less than an hour to get everything set up, with most of that time being waiting for Reciva to get their act together.

The sound of the radio is what you would expect from a radio. It won't thump your chest and shake your house. However if you want that sort of performance you can hook it up to your stereo system or a set of powered speakers with volume limited only by the power of what you hooked up. I hooked up a powered speaker system with a subwoofer that I had laying around from a past computer system. Works great.

Radio has pretty good range, but performance will depend on the quality of your wireless router.

I would recommend this unit to friends and family. Grace Digital GDI-IR2550P Pandora Wi-Fi Internet Radio

This is the first internet radio I have bought so I have nothing to compare this too but its a solid little radio. It was a little bit of a hassle setting it up, namely with syncing it up to my SIRIUS account but I got it working eventually. The sound quality is average which is fine for me considering I use it for SIRIUS talk mainly. The controls and menu are good. It only took a few minutes to figure everything out. I only had a few problems, one being the weight of the radio. It seems to be a little to light. You push the big knob in to select and when I push it in I have to hold the radio with my other hand to keep it from sliding (Small complaint, not a huge deal). Also the remote that comes with it is kind of trash. It seems to work really when every it wants, I am not sure if its just mine of what but it got annoying fast. Luckily when you create a Pandora playlist or select a station from SIRIUS or any other internet radio station it automatically saves. So the next time you turn it on it loads right up. My last complaint is with the Grace Digital customer service. When having problems with SIRIUS they had no real answers. In fact I called a SIRIUS rep and a lady helped me get it working and she has no affiliation or experience with Grace Digital. All in all its a solid radio with an easy to navigate menu, that puts out adequate sound. If your in the market for an internet radio this could be a nice choice.

This radio is not ready for prime time. I bought this with the purpose of replacing a clock radio on my nightstand. This radio is not suitable for that because the time of day display is too small, and the color and brightness of the display screen (even when adjusted) create a lack of contrast with the screen font numbers, making it pretty much unreadable. Also, the sleep timer setting is buried about three levels deep in the menu - there should be a button to push to activate this function to be set.

Grace should be embarrassed about the lame remote control included with this radio. Even when carefully used and aimed, it fails to function predictably. In fact, when using the remote to teach a learning remote the IR commands, under controlled conditions, about 1/3 of the buttons had to tried and retried to be learned - this, under controlled conditions, about 2 inches apart.

Worst of all for me, the radio failed to connect to and play a specific internet radio stream that I wanted. I had been checking the Grace web site and the Reciva site for several weeks before purchase, and the few days after my radio arrived, and the stream was noted as `passed the daily test'. Apparently, the "test" doesn't test real life Grace radios to see if they connect. Tech support had no rational explanation for this anomaly. (The station stream works perfectly in WinAmp, iTunes and on the SoundBridge Radio, however).

This could be a decent radio for some situations, but for none of mine. It's attractive (though so light in weight that you have to use two hands to use any buttons) and sounds ok for a one speaker radio. The Reciva web site is somewhat clunky and generates numerous security pop up boxes to dismiss because of careless programming. Using the web site/menu features, you can set up your radio menu to id a lot of radio stations that you can easily switch to - if they actually work, of course. Pandora is a great music service.

I am usually more careful in my research and shopping.

UPDATE at bottom....

I had reservations about ordering this radio... I am a huge Pandora fan. If you want a desktop solution for training Pandora, this Radio is the best available option on the market at this time. (3/4/11) As others have pointed out, the quality of the radio is mediocre at best....that is not what you are paying for. The radio is really akin to a mini internet wifi radio capture device, vs. a high quality sounding radio.

The beauty of the 2550 Grace WiFi radio is the on-board (radio and remote control) "thumbs up / thumbs down" training of Pandora. I am impressed with Pandoras ability to build you a custom radio station with your constant input. This radio simplifies and expedites the training process. At first I was running Pandora on my smart phone, but Android would get bogged down all the time. Not good... next I tried running Pandora on my PC, but again, it would bog down the pc a bit, and also interfere with other sounds that wanted to use the pc speakers... I finally bit the bullet and went with the 2550, and so far, it works... sure you gotta read the manual to set it up, you have to know a little bit about wifi, but there is Grace customer support, which did answer the phone promptly and helped me through one small issue.

Agreed with other posters, the remote is a bit lame, a tiny credit card type remote, with those clicky buttons..... close proximity and line of sight is important if you want success... if you respect that limitation, it seems to work fine. If you want good high quality sound, I would suggest a powered speaker set to go along with the 2550...if sound quality and volume is not very important, the sound of this radio may suffice as is, you can always upgrade the sound after you try it. Standard 3.5mm headset jack.

All products must be evaluated based on their performance vs. price. In that regard, the 2550 fits a small niche, those who want a primarily pandora based internet radio who desires the training tools close to them, i.e. to continually train your Pandora radio stations. If that is not the case, there is many Internet radios available with much higher quality, and of course higher prices.

For those who do not have great FM radio reception in your area, one of the nice features of internet radio is... you can output from the Pandora radio to an FM transmitter...I am using one on Amazon from Fail Safe Electronics, about $120. You broadcast the output of the 2550 into the transmitter, and transmit a user settable FM signal throughout your house, now all your radios in your entire house, backyard, garage, etc. will tune into the FM station you are transmitting on. This makes for a fabulous set-up to have great music wherever you are in the house, not just in the single location where the Pandora 2550 radio resides.

I would have preferred an LCD screen, vs. the scrolling digital screen. Not a deal breaker, but the digital screen with all the details and pictures in a large clear screen is much more desirable IMO. Of course it would probably add $50 to the price tag. I hope in the future Grace offers this... internet radio is still at its infancy, so lots of new products constantly emerging... So if its Pandora you are after, I would give this 5 stars, but as an internet radio, I gave it 4 stars.

UPDATE: I had to return this Grace radio... as others have pointed out, the radio is quirky, (IMO slightly defective) the remote is "hit or miss", IMO, its not ready for prime time... constantly fetching for data on a wide-open network. I confirmed later this was not a network problem. I ordered the Livio Pandora Radio, and it performed flawlessl. It is a much superior Pandora radio, here are the benefits after using them side by side...

1) Livio remote control although similar to Grace remote works excellent, fast reaction time...

2) Data fetching seems way faster, maybe more RAM, better buffering, not sure, but side by side the Livio never is choking like the Grace..

3) Livio has hardwire ethernet connection in the rear, I much prefer hardwire connection when possible, but WIFI is an option. There is two Livo models, only one has ethernet connection.

4) Livio gives you a slightly better display...and most importantly, the Livio display shows the "thumbs up" when a song comes on that you had previously awarded a thumbs up. Grace does not show this icon while song is playing, - a major shortcoming IMO, as you are often redundantly applying thumbs up to previously awarded songs - cause you aren't sure if you had previously awarded the song a thumbs up.... all other versions of Pandora have this, (PC, Smart Phone app, etc) Grace missed the boat on this one, a major oversight IMO, specially when using at work all day. Much less hassle knowing by a glance...

5) Livio has rear audio output, which does not kill the sound of the radio. On front is headphone jack which will kill radio sound. This is very useful as if you want to broadcast the audio via FM transmitter throughout the house, you do NOT need to buy another radio in the room the Livio is in. With the Grace, you have one headphone jack, it kills the sound of the radio, which was poor anyway...which brings me to final strong Livio point ...

6) Livio radio sound is much superior. Not even close, its a better radio... not the greatest in the world, but considering its price, its very good....good enough where the avg. person would accept it when used at relatively med. to low volume. This alone makes the unit very cost effective as you don't end up spending more money on speakers or 2nd higher quality sound output.

So when comparing the two, it seems Grace 2550 Pandora radio really missed a lot of very useful features which Livio includes. Thanks to Amazons liberal return policy, I now have a superior product.

Hope this review helps others wandering into internet dedicated radios, specifically Pandora radios.... overall, I am still very impressed with the entire concept, and now that the Livio has performed so well, glad I went through the hassle of getting all this right... there is nothing like a custom radio station that suits your tastes... - Tabletop Radio - Wireless Music - Pandora - Wifi Radio'

Quick Charger - charger, battery

The charger has been working very well. The lighted indicator and fast charging rate are my favorites. I definitely love this charger. Works very well on white and grey 12v batteries. Mine is a grey battery Power Wheels 12-Volt Charger

This charger charged my son's power wheels within 3 hours to a full charge! Our orginal charger took about 12 hours to fully charge, but it quit working so we are so excited to have his truck driving again. I am very pleased with this product and the price I received!

We have two new power wheels 12 volt batteries. They take a charge just fine with the charger that came with them. I bought this so we could use it as a rapid charger and it would take less time for the batteries to charge. I plugged them in and waited a few seconds. Both batteries had the flashing red indicating the batteries were either a wrong battery or bad. This will not charge the batteries for me. All it does is sit there and blink red. But the batteries charge just fine with the original charger. How can they be bad batteries if they hold a charge and we get hours of play out of them on a full charge. Funny that. Makes me wonder if it is a marketing ploy for people to run right out and buy a new $50 battery to replace the "bad" one. If it would actually work to charge the battery then it would be great. But we cannot get past the red light with ours. It is going right back to the store!!! It might be slower but we will stick with our original charger from now on.

this item was to assist in charging the power wheels truck second battery. Our grandson drives his truck often and a second battery charging while he used the first battery was just the ticket. This item works as advertised. Great service, highly recommended. Stan

Great charger, we had an old battery and the lights on the charger told me it was bad...which took the guessing work out of wether I should throw the battery out or not. It doesn't take long to charge the batteries at all.

This is a great charger and works great! As in all the other reviews, use it as instructed and it will save the day! I love the indicator lights that tell you when it is 80% charged and when it is 100% charged (80% being "quick charged" and can only be done every other time). We have 2 power wheels vehicles that use this type of charger and it works for both. With spring in swing it makes a huge difference especially when I've forgotten to charge at nite and I can still get 2 power wheels charged for use before the kids get home from school. - Accessories - Charger - Battery - Fisher Price'

Inkjet Printer Paper - epson photo paper, inkjet printer paper

I really love that this paper is water AND smudge resistant, plus it dries instantly and can be handled immediately after printing. I use to print on Kodak Premium picture paper and HP Premium Plus photo paper with my HP Photosmart 7760 printer. Any time even the smallest drop of water would get on the paper, the ink would come right off and I'd have to print the whole thing over again.

With this Epson paper, that's no longer a problem! I even tried spitting on the paper and rubbing it in and the ink stayed right where it should.

Also, because of it's instant drying, I can send a batch job to the printer and not have to worry about hovering over the printer to remove the finished print before the next one lands on top of it.

I highly recommend this paper, especially if your pictures are going to be handled over and over again by various people because you never know if someone with wet, clammy hands is going to touch your print. Also, if you actually like to do other things while your printer is printing a bunch of pictures, the instant drying is a great feature! Epson High-Gloss Premium Photo Paper, 8.5 x 11 Inches, 50 Sheets per Pack (S041667)

I have an Epson Stylus Photo R300M and this is my first time to print digital photos at home. The quality of the 8x10 and 4x6 photos I've printed out so far are nothing short of magnificent. I guess the highest praise you can give photo paper is the usual "you can't tell if it came from the photo lab". That's certainly true of Epson Premium Glossy Paper. Granted I haven't been able to compare it to the other brands, but I'm not so sure I need to find out, because I am very satisfied with the Epson's paper quality. One thing I do know - it's one of the least expensive photo papers out there. Bottom line is, it's a very cost-effective option for the price-conscious photo enthusuiast.

I've tried lots of papers for printing out photos, and this is dependably very, very good. I get great color photos and I've also done many in sepia tones of some very old family photos I've scanned. I've been very pleased with the results, and I'd highly recommend this paper.

I have tried several different brands and types of photo papers for printing out my own color photos. This brand is definitely the best!

I have seen so many photos people have printed out with other brands of photo paper and none compare to the Epson Premium glossy photo paper. When you order Epson photo paper, make sure you are ordering the "premium" photo paper, as they also make a lower grade photo paper. I have four printers......believe it or not......and I have come to the conclusion that the model of the printer is not really the determining factor when printing out quality photos, but rather the paper quality.

I've shopped around a lot for photo paper that is comparable to the Canon Photo Pro paper for my Canon i950, and this one is pretty much equivalent for half the price. I've found that Kodak & HP are poor, Konica QP is mediocre, and this Epson Glossy Photo Paper is the best.

I have an Epson printer and have been using digital camera for over two years have tried almost all Epson paper for printing this is the best. They are all great, I prefer the glossy. Excellent. You can't go wrong.

I have an Epson Photo Printer 820. Maybe because it is old, the only photo paper that works with it is manufactured by Epson. Other papers pool the ink or make bad copies. This paper gives me true photo quality prints. - Epson Photo Paper - Glossy Finish - Digital Photography - Inkjet Printer Paper'

Based On The Novel - holes, disney

I read "Holes" several years back for a children's literature course I took in college. I highly enjoyed it! It was one of the best books I read in that class. So when they introduced the movie, I was quite interested. Part of me was hopeful it would turn out well, the other part of me was skeptical that it would be anywhere near as good as the book. However, my fears were dashed. This movie was FABULOUS!The story jumps back and forth a little between three different tales -- the story of Elya Yelnats, the main character's "no good, dirty-rotten, pig-stealing great-great-grandfather"; the story of Stanley Yelnats IV himself; and the story of a legendary outlaw, Kissing Kate Barlow. The three stories are interwoven quite ingeniously. In some cases, you aren't completely sure what the connection will be, but then when you find out, it fits perfectly. The story IS slightly altered, of course, as most books-brought-to-movies tend to be. But it very much keeps the spirit of the original book. The boys are very believable -- I especially love Zero! Sigourney Weaver makes a wonderfully nasty warden. And John Voigt does a wonderful insane portrayal of Mr. Sir.This movie will keep you laughing and curious throughout. And if you enjoyed the book, you'll like this film! Holes (Full Screen Edition)

For accuracy, this film ought to have a couple dozen stars. The only scenes which are included in the movie but not written originally in the book are quite strongly implied in the book and need elucidation in the screenplay version. I have never seen a movie that stuck so amazingly close to the book from which it was taken, and so beautifully followed the descriptions within the book, making it a rich experience for those with vivid imaginations. When I first saw Mr. Sir, I was taken aback -- he looked EXACTLY like I had imagined. The rest of the characters were just the same.

For general quality, it deserves the highest rating one could give. The acting is superb, especially when you consider it was done by a group of teenaged boys, the script is delightful, much of it taken word-for-word from the book, and there is very little objectionable material: a perfect family movie. There's a great balance of mystery, suspense, and humor (in particular, the thread of Elya and Madame Zeroni is comically hyperbolic, reflecting the comically hyperbolice way that "Caveman's" grandfather looked at life), with the book's intricate play of symbolism.

I read the book about two years ago, and the appearance of a movie didn't excite me much, but now having watched it twice in a row this week, I can say nothing but that I was extremely impressed.

Great book, great movie. The author wrote the screenplay himself - the director wanted it that way. Way to go. My 9 1/2 year old smart as a whip daughter loved the book and couldn't wait to see the movie (our first DVD, yeah, so we're dinosaurs).

The extras on the DVD are not that great though - what a shame.

One reviewer mentioned that the film was too intense for her 6 year old. Well, duh, this is NOT for kids under 10. (Same people who bring their toddlers into a movie theater to see scary movies because they don't have a baby sitter. Is anybody checking IDs these days at the theaters - babies, helloooooo!!!

The kids in the film are great - it's basically Cool Hand Luke for kids meets Chicken Run/Stalag 17 meets Papillion. And it works due to great performances by all the kids and the adults too - Jon Voigt is an absolute hoot as Mr. Sir, Sigourney Weaver is the sexy Dominatrix warden. (Weaver's daughter is a fan of the book and asked her mommy to play the warden, Weaver tells us in the interview on the DVD version) The directing is very good, stylish but without undermining the story. Great soundtrack too, incl. one track with the kids rapping to the beat, yo! And did I mention that the one and only Eartha Kitt plays Madame Zeroni - she's perfect, of course. The story line with Kate and Sam was different and sexy. "I can fix that", Sam says to Kate. (Mmmm, bet you can.) Patrica Arquette is perfect as the school teacher turned bandit, still in love with Sam after 20 years. Very brave to have a story that includes an interracial couple's lovestory, and showing them kissing! How often do we get to see that in mainstream Hollywood!?

Also fun to hear Louis Sachar [pronounced "soccer" I believe] talking about his slow progress in writing the book - it took him 18 months I believe. A few pages every day. Very encouraging to hear this for a writer.

Unlike others here, I was never exposed to the book, so this movie was a mystery to me. I'd heard the generally positive reviews and read what passed for plot synopsis, but all I came away with was, "What?!?" This is a difficult movie to synopsize without giving away too much of the intricately woven plot. If this is what young teen-agers are reading, there may be hope for us yet. This is a movie that requires constant attention. The plot is revealed in fits and starts with modern day action intercut with flashbacks and clues in plain view at the periphery of the scenes. The story is about the bad luck Yelnats clan, all of which leads to the youngest family scion, Stanley (his first and last name together are a palindrome). There are actually five interrelated subplots:1) The origin of the family curse.2) The history of the site of the juvenile detention camp where the protagonist finds himself. This takes place in the old west.3) A story of Stanley's great-grandfather, who made a fortune and then lost it in events which touch on plot #2.4) The story of the camp warden and her family. This also relates to plot #2.5) The modern day plight of Stanley and his family.Sound complicated? It is, but it all entwines in some exceptional storytelling. The ending wraps up all five stories in an entirely satisfying way.So what is this and who would like it? Well, it's not a children's movie in any conventional sense. It requires attention and doesn't have a lot of "action". It's not riveting, but it is masterful storytelling. The film makers don't milk any scenes beyond their logical conclusion, so the intercutting between modern events and flashbacks could be disorienting to some viewers. The performances are all first rate. Jon Voigt is over the top as the dim-witted head guard, and Sigourney Weaver has her most deliciously evil role since "Snow White: A Tale of Terror". The juvenile roles are all excellent, especially the critical roles of Shia LaBeouf as Stanley and Khleo Thomas as "Zero". Eartha Kitt turns in a brief but effective performance as the old Latvian Gypsy who started the family curse. Patricia Arquette and Dulé Hill are touching in the critical roles as tragically star-crossed interracial lovers in the old west.If you let it, this is a highly involving film and time well spent. I was only going to give this 4 stars because it's not particularly showy, but wound up giving it 5 since it delivers everything it intends. The story is intricate, but still not particularly grand. But that's OK - this is a master work and deserves an audience. - Disney - Based On The Novel - Dvd - Holes'
