Display Case - makeup, organizer

I had reservations about ordering this organizer since there's really nothing in the description giving dimensions. For those of you on the fence, it's about 17 1/2 inches tall x 5 1/2 inches wide x slightly less than 5 inches deep. The drawers themselves are deep enough to comfortably store a MAC pigment pot, which is about 1 1/2 inches tall. My only complaint about the size is that the drawers are **almost** big enough to hold 9 MAC pigment pots in a neat square, but you can only get 6 in because they're just not big enough. I can fit 6 pigment pots in loosely. The drawers could have been better designed to take advantage of lost space on the sides. The tower has slots spaced about every 1/2 inch for drawers, which in turn makes the drawers much smaller than they had to be. If you see one in person this would make more sense; I wish I knew how to clarify that.

Anyhow, this is heavy enough to stay in place without being too heavy, plus it has rubber feet on the bottom to help keep it stable on a counter or desktop. I bought it to store makeup, but this would also be excellent for hobbies, crafts, office supplies, or any small items. It's nice to be able to see what's in the drawer without having to pull it out & dig. Most acrylic organizers I've found seem to be designed to use horizontally, lying flat on a counter/desktop, taking up valuable space. Because this is vertical, it takes only a very small amount of counter space, and you can store 3-4 times as much stuff. The drawers slide in & out easily, coming completely out with no trouble if you need to get at something in the back.

The price seems like a lot for some plastic drawers, but this is the best price on Amazon for this item, and I can't find these anywhere in stores. The seller is relatively close to me, so I got mine in only a couple of days, however your mileage may vary depending on your location. It was well-packed and I don't feel like I was ripped off for shipping. Overall, if you have a lot of small items lying around that you need to access regularly, but you don't have a lot of space, you'll find that this tower is fantastic, and you'll probably end up buying more than one. Acrylic Drawer Tower Organizer (Clear) (17 5/8"H x 5 3/8"W x 4 7/8"D)

I bought this to give me some relief from my overfilled cosmetic drawers. It's very sturdy and looks nice sitting on my vanity. I was able to use it to easily organize my lipsticks, eye shadows and small implements. Longer items, such as mascara, eyeliner, and lip glosses did not fit in the drawers. Larger eyeshadows and blushes also didn't fit, or took up an entire drawer on thier own. If you are using this product for small items, you'll be quite happy with it, but you will need to make another plan for any longer items.

I bought this Organizer from the Container Store several months ago and I have really enjoyed using it. It is sturdy, the drawers slide smoothly, and it has a small footprint for so much storage. I use it to store individual pieces of jewelry and it keeps long necklaces from becoming entangled in other pieces. The drawers are deep enough to hold a lot of different items. I have just ordered several more, but I found a less expensive price from [...] and there are several coupons on the web which also lower the price. I paid about $[...] each which included shipping. This organizer is very useful and attractive and I would certainly recommend it.

I've been looking everywhere for a good makeup storage tower similar to this one. I like that it is clear and doesn't make my bathroom counter appear cluttered. However, I do wish the drawers were a little wider. I'm able to fit most of my most used make-up in the drawers, but I thought it was more spacious for the price. I am pleased with the purchase, but only because I really couldn't find anything better.

I am using this box to organize my make-up on my limited bathroom counterspace. It is very sturdy quality and I love being able to see the stuff inside. This has already improved my getting ready in the morning time and temper. :-) Recommend it for whatever you need to organize!

This organizer is great...but like other reviews, the drawers need to be wider and a bit deeper. I'm an esthetician/makeup artist and I have a lot of makeup. I was hoping encase all my tools, including brushes in this organizer. I really should have read the measurements in more detail. Each drawer only fits about 4 single MAC eyeshadows...that's how big the drawers are. But overall, I like the look and the organization of some of my makeup.

I purchased this item to organize my makeup, it does look nice in my bathroom but the drawers are just too small. I can only fit small items and hardly anything fits in them. If you only want to fit small things in the drawers then it will be a good buy, but if your like me wanting it to organize your makeup then get a bigger one.

I placed this on my bathroom counter to hold cosmetics, creams, toiletries, and so on because I wanted them within easy reach but do not want them sitting out exposed to germs and water sloshing around the sink. It arrived in good condition, except for some black marks on one side that do not come off--not worth sending back though because no one else is going to notice. It does not take up much space horizontally, so works well on a smaller counter. It is tall so it actually holds quite a lot. Because it is clear, it does not look bulky sitting on the counter.

I am satisfied with the item for the money. - Organizer - Drawer - Organizers - Makeup'

Watch Back Remover - watch tools, great product

The watch case knife is too thick and useless. The screwdrivers are junk and the tips bend or break. The screw drivers wouldn't fit the battery keep screw in two of my watches. I tried to file down the tip of the smallest screw driver so it would fit the screw but it just crumbled. The tweezers quickly magnetized making it very difficult to set the smallest screws. The JAX is OK (why I gave the set 2-stars) so I would just buy it without the rest of this junk. 16 PCS Watch Tool Kit w/Jaxa Wrench

Fantastic value, and solved a problem (couldn't open a chronograph watch back to replace the battery) until I got this tool kit. Still much less expensive than a jewelry store would charge, and the tool didn't scratch the watch. As received, the 3-point case opener main size adjustment rod was bent so much, that it wouldn't turn/adjust. I had to disassemble the item, and straighten it out (10 minutes), and then it was good to go. Even with this quality miss, the product is still a very good value, and worked as advertised/needed. Great for watch collector/enthusiasts.

I was a little disappoint with the quality. Plastic is cheaply made, flimsy. Probably will break soon. The tools are metal, so not bad there. I would recommend for a rare occasion watch tinkerer to buy, but not a person with a lot of watches to fix. Hold out for a better product.

The quality of some of the pieces is a bit questionable, but not enough to get in the way of removing some links in a watch bracelet, or changing a battery in any style watch. For the price, you could get this to change one watch battery, throw it all away, and you would likely come out ahead of having a jewelry store do it.

I purchased this kit as a cheap alternative to get a lot of tools inexpensively, and to see if I like the hobby before spending a boat load of cash on tools. The case opening tool broke the first time I used it. I then tried to use one of the jewelers screw drivers and the bit was loose and just spun around freely. I tried to use another screw driver to tighten it, same thing. Overall this is a very cheap kit, that is basically worthless. On the plus side, the seller refunded my money quickly and was very supportive and understanding. If you need tools for watch repair, look elsewhere.

The 16 pc tool kit is fine. Some have complained about the quality, and admittedly it's not the highest, but it does the job. If one is careful and gentle (as small tools usually require), they'll perform fine. The knife is the only piece with which I'm disappointed. It's not sharp enough to do much. The Jaxa wrench was really cheaply made. The adjustment screw mechanism only somewhat works. Additionally, it only fits smaller watches. (It didn't fit my Casio sporting watch with approx 1.5 in. diameter.) That said, on a smaller watch it seems like it would work.

All it all, the 16 pc set is good, in my experience, for adjusting wristband links and similar tasks. If you are interested in changing batteries, this product will be a bit more hit or miss.

P.S. Have a storage case on hand for this since the 16 pc set doesn't come with any secure case. - Watch Back Remover - Great Product - Watch Tools - Watch Repair Kit'

Evil Dead - sam raimi, animation

I first got hooked on Evil Dead about 6-7 years ago when my brother rented Evil Dead II. Later that year I watched the other movies in the series, and have loved it ever since. The problem is, so little information was available about the movies. This year I found a number of fan sites, which were great, but still did not give thorough detail of everything from Within The Woods (forerunner to The Evil Dead) to Army Of Darkness. I ended up buying all of the special edition DVDs for all movies and learned a TREMENDOUS amount about the movies, but I still wanted more detail.I heard of this book a few weeks ago and finally picked up a copy last night. So far I've read a little over 100 pages of it, and let me tell you, if you worship Evil Dead, if you MUST know EVERYTHING you possibly can from BEFORE Within The Woods to Army Of Darkness, and want heavy detail, THIS IS IT!For the casual fan, don't waste your time. It will probably be boring to you, as this book is clearly targeted for the hardcore Evil Dead fan.The book includes a number of rare and unpublished pictures (albeit black & white), dates of filming, locations, who did what in all the movies, TONS of behind the scenes pictures and stories, interviews with many of the cast and crew, and A LOT MORE! BTW, I picked all of this up in the first 100 pages, so I'm not even half done with the book yet.MANY pages devoted to how scenes were filmed, equipment used, how camera work was done, how the woods chasing scenes are done, and much more! More detail than on the DVD commentaries!!This book includes a complete filmography for the crew, and even tells of some of their other work as well. From their first super 8 movies long before Evil Dead, up to some of their latest movies, but the bulk of the book is about Evil Dead. There are movie poster pictures, excerpts from Fangoria and other magazines from the early years, newspaper articles, and stories of hardships the cast and crew faced to bring us these movies.Couple this book with the web links in the back, and the special edition DVDs for all movies, and you will have enough Evil Dead knowledge to keep you happy for a long time! The only way you will learn more is to interview Bruce Campbell or Sam Raimi.Suffice to say, if you worship the movie (or are just a really big fan), you will love this book! LOTS of reading! The cover design is pretty cool too. A somewhat 3D necronomicon. Are you a HUGE Evil Dead fan? Then get this book! The Evil Dead Companion

It really says something about the quality of this book when most of the reviews can only grumble about that lack of color pictures, or the lack of in depth study given to Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn and Army of Darkness. While the lack of color pictures did not bother me at all, the rather abbreviated look at the making of the two sequels (as well as Raimi's other movies) left me wanting, especially in comparison to the wonderful amount of information in the first half on how this tightly knit team of friends became one of the most beloved cult movie producers of the 1980s and 1990s. Quite literally the books reads like a fly on the wall look at the filmmakers baptism by fire, then it shifts gears to..."and they went on to make this, this, and this and lived happily ever after." A little more depth and time about the professional differences in making Dead II and Army of Darkness from the first movie would have been rewarding. Not helping are the concluding chapters which offer nothing but detailed descriptions of the on screen action in the ED trilogy with parenthetical comments by Bruce Campbell. Author Bill Warren refers to it as a DVD commentary on paper. To this reader it just felt like padding. Nonetheless, more than a few fans will find reflections of themselves in this group of movie makers to be and I don't think any admirer of Raimi and Company will want to do without it. Highly recommended.

Bill Warren has done a hell of a job with this overview of Sam Raimi's cult-classic film series. Filled with insight into the process of low-budget filmmaking, this book is just as indispensible to Raimi fans as the movies themselves. Flawless!

I am a big fan of the Evil Dead series, and it in fact mad me take note of horror movies for the first time. This book talks about the lives of the creators leading up to the films, the times during the filming, and the difficulties they faced when putting the movies together. it is a well done account of Sam Raimi's early career, his relationship with Bruce Campbell, and his drive to do the movies. It is really just intersting if you are looking to discover what went on behind the making of these 3 great movies, and the effect it had on the major players behind it. I found it difficult to put down, and I really am picky about what I read, as it bores me. this book, though, I found myself reading during class, and had it done in a few days. A really good product for Evil Dead fans, or aspiring filmmakers that happen to be fans of the Evil Dead.

From Hulka.comMan this book is GREAT! It's a book I wanted to write, and when I heard Bill Warren was writing it, I gave up the idea hoping he wouldn't let me down, and he didn't. He surpassed my expectations! There's so much inside info in this book that you can't find on the net, straight from the horses mouths! Those horses being Sam Raimi, Ted Raimi and Bruce Campbell. Photos from the films Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness that have never been seen outside the small circle that took them. Great book, I've enjoyed what I've read so far, and I would recommend this sucker be on every aspiring film makers table! This book has limited distribution, so order from Amazon like I did to ensure you get a copy now!

A nice-sized and well-researched tome, author Bill Warren takes readers through the production history of Sam Raimi's EVIL DEAD trilogy (and the films in-between) in The Evil Dead Companion. While some folks might tire of the obsessive detailing the book provides about these classic flicks, I can never get my fill of the hometown heroes behind the EVIL DEAD films. Chronologically ordered, a three chapter blow-by-blow summation of the films (annotated by lead actor/co-producer Bruce Campbell) rounds out the book. While The Evil Dead Companion may not be the final word in EVIL DEAD study, it's a damn good start and well worth the investment for folks who think the EVIL DEAD films are altogether "groovy." Camera Memory - camera memory, sdhc card

The card is big, reliable, and fast per the specs & the SanDisk brand name.

The card's speed would be useful in two cases - faster shoot rate when the camera can write 200x in continuous shooting, or faster download to computer when the card reader can read 200x.

Unless you checked either camera or card reader to go beyond 100x (e.g. Canon 450D does 100x top, see card readers in another review), a 16GB SanDisk Ultra II card would be a better deal - you'll get the same performance & card size for less than half the price. SanDisk 16gb Extreme 30MB/s Edition SDHC High Performance Card

Don't buy a faster memory card than you really need for your camcorder. This is one case where faster is not better.... it's just faster. Most HD camcorders are designed to work with Class 4 SDHC cards at the camcorders best recording quality.

Installing a faster memory card than your camcorder needs, is not going to make the video quality better, or make the camcorder work better. In fact, installing a faster memory card than the camcorder was designed to work with, may create problems. There are some valid technical reasons for this. As the speed of memory cards goes up, so does the power consumption of the memory card. The increase in power consumption from a Class 4 card to a Class 10 card, can be dramatic. If the camcorder was designed to use Class 4 cards, the added power consumption of a class 10 card, may degrade overall performance. Another concern is that, as speed goes up, so do the levels of electronic noise, and that can be detrimental to overall operation. Faster memory, requires faster clock speeds, and if the memory's supporting electronic circuitry was not designed to work with these faster clocking speeds, that circuitry may not operate as predictably as it does with slower memory. In summary, there are a few really good technical reasons why a faster memory card will perform poorly when it is installed in a camcorder designed to work with much slower memory. Don't do it. The really fast SDHC cards are intended for high megapixel cameras with fast sequential shooting capabilities. The electronics for those types of cameras, have been designed to work with the faster cards.

Lastly, installing faster memory than your camcorder needs, is a waste of money. For Camcorders, you can't go wrong with a SanDisk SDSDHV-016G-A15 16GB Video HD SDHC Card. It is designed to work well with HD camcorders, and it is very reasonably priced.

This card is a must of you have a HD video recording device. Such is the case with my Canon EOS Rebel T1i. What I noticed right away is that if you don't use a type 6 SD card, you'll run into issues while recording a lenghthy video. This line from Sandisk is actually recommended by Canon within the owners manual. And it works perfectly. I can record in 1080P at 20FPS or 720P at 30FPS, with no issues what so ever. I picked up this for less then what it's currently being sold for, so you may want to wait until it becomes a better value.

Based on my experience and use, I would definitely recommend this for use with HD video cameras. It's worked perfectly for me.

Just bought the Canon Vixia HF S100 and this 16GB Extreme III card. the Canon instruction book say its needs a class 4 or higher to record HD (which is whole reason I bought the Canon in the first place...) but for some reason when I insert this card (class 10) I can record in regular mode but not HD. The camcorder says that the card is not compatible with any of the HD recording modes... The card works in regular recording mode and works in my Canon camera (SD 870). My old 4GB Extreme II card works in HD mode in the HFS100.

Not sure what the problem is here... I saw other reviewers using this card with HFS10 which is mechanically the same as the HFS100. I initialized both memory card before using.

Any suggestions? Otherwise I am going to return this card and just buy an Extreme II 32gb for the same money or less.

Thanks

With an amazing camera like the Nikon D90 that even with small and basic picture size settings you have an amazing picture quality, you can snap 13,200 pictures on this memory card! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. In addition to that, I used it in the Amazon (in Colombia's amazing jungle) with large RAW + basic settings and I was able to take 3 photos per second to the pink and grey dolphins jumping in the Amazon river. I was more than happy buying this card. It's not leaving my D90!

I purchased this card to replace my 2GB SD card. I set my 15.1 Megapixel camera to create two images per picture (1 14bit RAW and 1 large high-quality jpeg). This card allows me to take 486 pictures without having to switch cards or delete images. I have owned this card for two months now and it has been working great. I haven't had a single problem with it.

This card is amazing and has blazing fast speed. I have tested it on Canon T2i, Nikon D90, Canon 5D MarkII. It is totally worth the price. I will post the video review soon to show the performance of the card. This is the true Class 10 SDHC card, other brands do write class 10 on the cards but they do not give more than 15-20 MB/s of speed. I would highly recommend this card if you are into serious photography and would not want to miss that special shot. I timed the shooting on Canon T2i, its about 100 shots in 23 seconds at full resolution of 18 mega-pixel with all auto settings.

PS : I would not recommend the seller though because I received the card without original packing so u never know if he is sending you used cards and asking the price for a new one, because you will find many other sellers online that sell this card in the price range of $75 to $90 and guaranty brand new packed item.

Incredible speed! Incredible performance, incredible capacity. I ordered this product because I sometimes go out hiking and don't have a chance to download all my pictures into a PC and like to take pictures of nature, which sometimes I'd prefer to do in burst mode. I have 4 4g class 6 memory cards, which only took 2 pictures, then started to take one picture every 10 or 15 seconds, and guess what? Most of the times I would loose that great shot because of the lag. I feel confident this card is the solution, I tried it as soon as I got it, It was shooting the full 4 shots per second for about 8 seconds, then takes about 2 every second for about another 20 - 24 seconds. Amazing!!!

I have a Nikon D90 and shoot 90% of the time in RAW. When I inserted the card into my camera, I saw I had 1.0K of picture capacity, I double checked it was in RAW!!! If you have the cash to buy this, go for it, you can't go wrong. - Sdhc - 16 Gb - Sdhc Card - Camera Memory'

Voice Recorders - olympus digital recorders, voice recorders

I was looking for a voice recorder to capture my lectures but also be able to transfer them onto my computer for back up. The recording is very good quality but it's frustrating that I am unable to transfer my recording. So, if you are looking for a "record and erase" voice recorder, this is the right one. Olympus Digital Voice Recorder (VN 6000)

Get this for yourself or college student.

I went back to school after twenty years and bought this recorder incase i missed something during the lectures-boy am I glad I did! I have listened to the lecture recordings and noticed that I missed alot, even though I felt like I was paying attention.

works absolutly great! long record time availability-1 gig- long battery life and no problems picking up the teachers voice from anywhere in the room.

5 stars!

I teach piano and suggest that students record their lessons with a digital voice recorder. I've seen just about every kind you can imagine in just about every price range you can imagine! After using my students' recorders, I chose to buy this one. It's great. Even comes with a protective case. It's small, easy to use, and has lots of storage capacity It's definitely easier to operate than Sony's product - and definitely cheaper. Definitely priced well for the quality of the recorder.

VERY nice for the price. First set of AAA batteries that came with lasted thru 3 seminars, each 2.5 to 3 hrs in length, before getting the "LOW" battery message. Usually sit a good 25 feet away, give or take, from the speaker and it picks up EVERY word clearly - as long as its pointed that way. *NO PC connectivity (but that wasn't why I bought it)* Simple press of RECORD during recording puts it in Pause mode. NOT voice activated, if that's what you need. Need to read the manual to figure out how to manage all the folders and for playback - and you'll have the minor pain of re-setting the clock when you replace the batteries (but all recordings safe when you do so).

Technology is forever changing - I purchased this at a price which made it an excellent value for money. Given the archaic machine that this replaced, my father was AMAZED at the storage capacity and ease in which he could operate this slim practical document saver. He is not yet apt when it comes to the computer, is learning to use the internet ... as far as emailing goes ... I am afraid to mention search engines just in case he becomes overwhelmed ... however his little number was like driving a car, in other words, he never read the directions, grabbed it and flew!

A lovely gadget. I suggest you use it for the business AND for the reasons I purchased it, to capture the history of a wonderful man who at 70 has much to share. There is enough space on this little ditty for him to release his soul for generations to enjoy in years to come. Love the fact that downloading the gems and pearls of wisdom and reflections is so easy.

Get it!

We bought this for my 10 year old Son. He's loved the Home Alone movies and wanted to recreate those taping moments to play back to the bad guys. I had to write this after he was distraught because he couldn't find his recorder. We finally found it in a pair of freshly washed jeans. Luckily it was washed in cold and found before the dryer cycle. We pulled the batteries and let it dry out for two days. Put new batteries in and it came on. I thought it wiped out the memory, but after setting the date/time, it came right back where it left off all recordings in-tact and works as good as a squeekie-clean new one!

There is no way to transfer the recordings to computer?? I guess I should have read the description better but just figured from some like Olympus there would be a way to transfer recordings.

For me its useless.

I got this as a present to help a friend with some classes she is taking. After I got it I wanted to keep it. It was hard to let go.. :P

When I finally gave it to her I couldn't stop playing with it, "showing her" the features and things, until she finally took it from me. Now she loves it. I haven't used it too much, but I can say that the features are superb: recording time is surprising, audio quality is very good, you could record days of audio with this little thing. Haven't tried hooking it up to the computer yet but to me this was one of the main reasons for getting it. Plus the price, you really can't beat that. And to top it all off you can also plug in a microphone and headphones, which is an excellent touch. Also the controls are very intuitive and easy to use.

I want to get another one for myself now! - Olympus Digital Recorders - Voice Recorders - Voice Recorder - Digital Recorder'

1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die - christmas classics, christmas

Rather than review the content of this almost universally beloved film, I'm just going to comment about the quality of the 2006 60th Anniversary Edition DVD itself. I've since written an updated review about a new edition of this title, now available in a "Two-Disc Collector's Set." Please find that review -- which was posted on December 13, 2008. (Amazon has posted my 2006 review in both places -- even though the "60th Anniversary Edition" DVD is DIFFERENT from the "Two-Disc Collector's Set". Read my write-up for the "Two-Disc Collector's Set" -- again, it's DATED 2008 and too early to rank among the "most helpful" reviews -- to better decide which product you prefer.)

I've owned nearly every version of this title in almost every format available on home video during the past 25 years. It's true that the CONTENT of this Viacom/Paramount DVD -- including its special features -- is identical to the Republic Pictures Home Video release more than 10 years ago.

However, this 60th Anniversary edition is spectacular for several different and extremely important reasons. (I'll address the criticisms some people have leveled about the sound on this 2006 DVD in a little bit, so stick with me.)

You don't have to be a technical expert to immediately notice the striking improvement of the picture AND sound in this 2006 edition. The print is crystal-clear and in my view, has more vividness and sharpness than ALL other previous releases of this title on home video.

Proof? I put my "old" THX-version DVD issued by Republic Pictures / Artisan Home Video (the former DVD gold standard for this title) -- into my Sony multi-changer DVD player -- and watched and listened to every frame of this film AND its special features. I stopped and started this "older" DVD in several spots -- and stopped and started the new 2006 Paramount edition repeatedly -- so I could compare quality almost "side-by-side."

Hands down -- this 2006 version is fabulous. The spots and dirt have been wiped clean, the sharpness and contrast are arguably better than what film audiences saw 60 years ago. There are no ragged spots, no jumped frames and no lint, fiber or hair fragments along the edges or jumping across the screen. I believe the technicians at Paramount (which acquired Republic Pictures Home Video) -- digitally cleaned EVERY frame of the last DVD release -- so that the film now looks like a million dollars. It's almost too pristine, if there is such a thing. No jump cuts, no "jump ahead" sound breaks, no fogged-out scenes, nothing ragged -- with the result being the cleanest and purest version of "It's A Wonderful Life" ever issued in home video history.

It gets better. English subtitles were available on older DVD versions of this title, but the 2006 version has a cleaner typeface, wiping out some of the confusing and unnecessary attributions of "who's saying what" that were disruptive to some hearing-impaired viewers. In this 2006 version, you'll get a mostly straight, line-by-line reading of what's being said -- as it's being said.

Meanwhile, the DVD's special features -- which include the same pair of documentaries produced in 1990 and 1991 -- are identical in that they were shot on video tape hence there isn't much improvement in picture quality. However, subtitles that WERE NOT available for these special features -- are NOW available in this 2006 edition. The only "extra" to the previous "gold standard" that remains unchanged -- is the original 1946 trailer. Subtitles are not available and it has the same raggedness and dirt commonly seen with vintage trailers stored separately from the films they used to advertise.

I'm highly critical of re-issued DVDs that seem nothing more than an excuse to squeeze more dollars out of buyers for the same material with new packaging. But this 2006 Paramount DVD version of "It's A Wonderful Life" is the best to date. It is NOT in color. (I own a colorized version for younger people who can't stand black-and-white. Despite controversy surrounding colorization, know that the 2007 "Two-Disc Collector's Set" has the same 2006 60th Anniversary black-and-white edition you see here -- plus a new "colorized" version. This version uses the same pristine print -- but has the added bonus of boasting the best "color" hues ever seen for this film, using the latest image technology available. Despite my preference for black-and-white, the quality of this new colorized version is impressive.)

Meanwhile, let's address the criticisms about the sound on this new DVD. Go back a little bit. Much was made when Republic Pictures Home Video got the THX LucasFilm sound system seal of approval for "It's A Wonderful Life" during the 1990s. But it was still two-channel mono with negligible equalization of sound effects. In this 2006 DVD, you'll get consistent two-channel mono and decent sound equalization to minimize "booming" and over-modulated portions in the film. In the old versions, you had to turn down the volume a notch during the musical portions -- and turn it back up when the dialogue came back. It's a nit-pick, but you really notice the difference if you're crazy enough to do a side-by-side comparison like I did.

As for the digital sound "pops" that perfectionists keep bringing up -- they're right. They're even in the spots noted by another fine reviewer who listed time codes where you can find them. But in my view, unless you brace yourselves for them to arrive like a booming train -- unless you purposely crank up your speakers to carry sound throughout your house -- yeah, you "might" be annoyed if you demand the same perfection for a film made in 1946 as you would for a film made in 2006. Honestly, the disproportionate attention given to these digital "pops" is, in my view, giving fence-sitters the impression that they're supersonic cracks of lightning that will make people jump out of their seats. I didn't twitch at all. They almost "blended" into the 60-year-old soundtrack. Yes, I know they're digital defects, but do you remember the zillion "pops" scattered throughout dirty prints of "It's A Wonderful Life" with filthy optical soundtracks? The audio on this 2006 DVD still wins. You have EVERY RIGHT to demand perfection for your dollars. But as a person who's more fastidious than average -- I don't believe most buyers will care about a few "pops" in a film that's this old. Combine the overall improvements with the relatively low cost of this DVD -- and I still say this is the BEST experience of "It's A Wonderful Life" I've ever SEEN and HEARD on home video.

Finally, another reason to buy this DVD. It's old news to some, but it's not widely known that this version of "It's A Wonderful Life" can only be broadcast by NBC. It used to air a zillion times during the holidays on every TV station on earth. It was a quick way to get tired of even a super film you think you know by heart. But Viacom/Paramount now owns this version of "It's A Wonderful Life" outright and NBC has exclusive licensing rights to air it just once or twice after Thanksgiving. This is a good thing for future generations to appreciate.

So junk the old, buy this version and be happy. It may feel painful, but it's worth it. And no, I DON'T work for Amazon OR for Paramount Home Video. It's a Wonderful Life (60th Anniversary Edition) - James Stewart - Christmas Classics - Christmas - Christmas Movie'

Charcoal Grills - grill, charcoal

We love Weber grills and have been using a Smokey Joe Silver and larger Weber grills for 30 years. We like to camp and always bring our Smokey Joe with us so I purchased the Smokey Joe Gold becasue of the locking top and carrying handle. However, this grill has vents on the side, not on the bottom, so the air flow does not circulate through the coals as Weber grills are usually designed. It took twice as long to cook our food in the Gold as opposed to the Silver. It is good for transporting but not as good as the Silver for cooking. Weber 40020 Smokey Joe Gold Charcoal Grill

This is the third little Weber I've had in the past 20 years - I've never worn one out; the first two were stolen! I like the locking handle on the new model. One great feature of these grills is that when you are done cooking, you can close all the vents and the fire will go out in about 15-20 minutes, saving whatever's left of your charcoal for the next time. With the handle locked, it won't spill in the back of your pickup on the way home.It really does do a great job of cooking, as good as the larger Webers, just for a smaller crowd. We had a Mulberry tree trimmed in our yard and I saved all the chipped up wood to use for smoke flavoring. You still need a charcoal fire for heat; just throw in a handful of chips before you put the meat & corn on the cob in and close the top vent down to make it smoke. Mmmmm, Mmmmm! You can eat like a gourmet anywhere you tote this to! Just add a cooler full of longnecks.....

I got this grill on the advice of a friend when we were in grad school. She'd been trying to save money, and bought a similar type grill from a different manufacturer. It didn't vent right at all, and she was right, this one does. Brand matters.

I've lugged it with me through something like 5 moves, and it's still fine. The grill has eventually accumulated rust, but it's nothing you can't scrape off at the beginning of the season, and besides they're always telling us we need more iron in our diets, right?

If I hadn't left it outside for a couple of winters the rust might not have happened. It doesn't look like it's going to wear out in my lifetime, so I guess I'll never have a chance to find out on a new one!

I like using the charcoal made of real wood chunks more than the compressed bricquettes (they don't last as long, but they taste WAY better).

Couple it with the Weber chimney starter, and you have a way of getting rid of junk mail, too! (Just don't burn paper with colored inks, *blech*.)

I fed 12 people on links and venison last Friday night with just one of these babies, started with the chimney (that part took only 30 min, honest to Gawd). Afterwards there were still enough coals left to roast marshmallows on fondue forks. (We didn't have real sticks available, OK? You use what you've got.)

I have a Diversitech grill pad under it to keep the heat and crud off my deck, and it works great.

Enjoy!

I had one of the original Smokey Joe grills when I was single (a long time ago). I used it at my apartment and took it on camping trips. It worked well at home, but it was a pain to take camping. It was tippy and always fell over in the truck, sending the grates, lid and kettle all over the place. The Gold model remedied that shortcoming. The lid locks down tight for portability. The tripod leg system still isn't as stable as a four-leg system would be but the Gold model is not as tippy as the standard model I used to have. (I wonder whatever happened to my old Smokey Joe?)

The Gold model also remedied the other shortcoming of the original Smokey Joe--that silly pan to catch the ashes and cinders. It never worked well, the vent in the bottom would clog up, the ashes blew all over the place in the wind and it was a royal pain to clean up. The Gold model holds the ashes in the belly of the kettle so there's less mess. I line the bottom of the kettle with aluminum foil, set fire to the charcoal and, after everything cools down, I just pick up the foil and dump the ashes with little left to clean up.

The Smokey Joe works great for indirect cooking of small roasts or other small, but thick, cuts of meat. Put the charcoal on a side of the kettle with a vent, put the meat on the other side. Close the vent on the kettle on the meat side, open the vent on the fire side, open the lid vent and put the vent holes over the side with the meat. It creates a draft inside the kettle that works extremely well. The size of the grill prevents true slow cooking but this modified indirect method works extremely well.

I have to disagree with a previous reviewer who said the venting system didn't work and the charcoal fire goes out. It just doesn't happen if you get the fire going properly to begin with. I love it that the vents are on the sides of the kettle instead of underneath the coals.

The Smokey Joe Gold is for our RV. It fits in the storage compartment and if it tips over it doesn't create a big mess. It's perfect for cooking and relaxing around an isolated campsite or adding a little downhomeness to those concrete parking lots they call RV parks that we sometimes have to use when traveling. It's a great improvement over the original Smokey Joe if you need a portable grill to take along with you.

Though this is a portable grill, it is terrific for at home use if you're single, or have a small balcony apartment. It takes very little space, and is easy to maneuver when cleaning time comes.

I've used this gem for years. My apartments, on the whole, mandated the simplicity and efficiency offered up by the Smokey Joe.

A great feature is the rounded top. This enables better smoking, as air and smoke circulates more fluidly.

The downsides:

The legs aren't as sturdy as they could be. Given time, a bit of bumping around and general abuse, and the screwed on legs might turn askew. If you notice this while the grill is hot, you've a problem. The solution is to keep them tight during non-use.

The air intake at the bottom gets clogged with ashes. A key to good charcoal grilling is the manipulation of air flow. The intake might be open, but stopped up. If you are diligent to clean the ahes, you'll be OK.

Because the grill is so close to the ground, you need to be careful. Unlike most of Weber's grill, this one os also apt to getting kicked over, run into by dogs, cars and children.

I fully recommend Weber's Smokey Joe. Now, I'm hungry. Time to stir the coals and pop on a few brats.

Cordless Drill - cordless drill, 18v battery

Product is acceptable and delivery was ok. A warning to Home Depot customers: Home Depot's batteries ARE NOT the original 1700mah bateries - they are downgraded to 1500mah, with the same pricing! Buy this battery at Amazon.com! Battery Nicd Single 18v 1500mah Ryobi - Ridgid 130255004

I bought a cordless drill that came with a flashlight and another tool using this style battery. I took very good care of the battery but it has not lasted as long as batteries of other cordless tools I have owned. I think they must sell the tool at a loss in order for you to keep having to buy batteries for it. It is strange that a replacement battery costs more than I originally paid for the cordless drill and its battery.

I got sold on the concept after getting a drill/flashlight kit - then went on to purchase a string trimmer, a hedge trimmer and a leaf blower. All items functioned well initially for the price paid, but none of the batteries would hold a charge after less than a year of light use and with very few charging cycles. It is a shame that Home Depot would put these products on the market with this major design defect. They have probably spent millions on the development and marketing the product line, so why would they not keep their customers happy with a battery upgrade or replacement program under warranty?

The decision was whether or not to by new screw-guns to get new batteries - which used to be about the same price as just the battery. We got the batteries for 1/3 the price we paid the last time -- 2006 --- we bought (4) this time - great pricing for OEM !! Fast & Free Shipping.... Couldn't do much better.

I purchased a pair of these batteries 3 weeks ago. I meant to write a review sooner, but I've been busy.

I chose the battery that was listed on this page because it said it was SKU 13025504, which is the 1700mAh version of that battery that came with my drill. When they arrived they were not in any official Ryobi packaging or (hard to open) clamshell. They were just wrapped in a bunch of bubble wrap. On the outside of the bubble wrap was a sticker that said 1700mah 13025504. However, after unwrapping them I saw that the model number on the bottom of the battery said 130255004, which is the 1500mAh version. Hmmmmm. I was a bit worried because I dont like that kind of switcheroo, however, the batteries charged in my charger without any problem and have run my drills and saws with fine power and staying-power.

I finally had time to write this review and found that the page had changed (though the reviews were the same as when I had made my purchase - so its kinda-sorta the same product page.) The SKU has changed to 13025504 and the description now says 1500mAh. The seller was D-lowllc when I made my purchase, now the seller is mowtownusa.

So, I guess the bottom line here is that the product I got wasnt as described, but works fine. If you purchase here there's no telling what exactly you will get or who you will get it from. Fortunately in the worst case scenario I think Amazon would take it back. Nonetheelss, if I had it to do over again I would have bought the 1500mAh from Amazon (or Home Depot or whomever,) rather than this indeterminate source.

Good: Looks Original, price is cheaper than retail. Not sure about performance and life time.

Not so good: Description and SKU number received were inconsistent than originally purchased. It was 1700mAh and a different SKU online, but change to 1500mAh to another SKU when received. not in retail box, no warranty card or instruction.

I bought this because it is 1500 mah instead of the regular home depot on which may

1200 or 1300 mah

However, there is no way I can confirm this one is better.

HomeDepot has it for $50 for 2 ($25 for one) which can be cheaper.

Based on model number and no indiction of 1500 mah,

I think this is the same one as HomeDepot Unless I open it up.

I bought a set of Ryobi tools, as household/garage/farm tools. The tools themselves are decent, no Makita or Panasonic for sure, but decent.

Big problem, these batteries are near worthless. Circular saw, one 24" cut and its toast. Drill? 10 holes max, impact driver, 6 holes max, and you are done with any useable power. Seems like all I do is change batteries, and I have 4 of them.

For: Construction/Framing use, worthles / Busy homeowner, somewhat adequate / housewife, here are your tools, just be prepared for a lot of charging.

Ryobi tools are decent, for the money, but if you can, by any means necessary, buy a real set of cordless tools, do it. Ryobi is just a stop gap, till you can replace them. - 18v Battery - Battery Pack - Cordless Drill - Battery Packs'

Workout Dvd - beginners, workout dvd

OK i am totally a beginner in step aerobics so thought this was the right DVD for me to start. It was. Very thoughtful and well done. Explained everything, nice tutorial and was not overboard at all. Great for beginners. Absolute Beginners Fitness: Step and Dance Aerobics Workout for Weight Loss & Toning

I love this video! Nekea Brown is fun to watch, and her instructions are all clear and easy to follow. Compared to other easy or beginner-level aerobic workout DVDs, this one rates very high. In particular, Mirabai Holland's DVDs have good exercises but her presentation is rather bland. Kari Anderson's Step Workout for Beginners has good moves but gets boring after a couple of viewings. Nekea Brown keeps the workout lively and interesting. The dance moves are easy and feel good to do. And it's a great moderate-level cardio workout! I recommend this highly for anyone, particularly women over fifty, who want to increase their cardio health without beating their feet and knees into the ground.

I love Nekea Brown's DVDs because her routines are always creative. This one is perfectly suitable for beginners, but if you're a little more experienced, you can modify the workout by using weights or elevating the Step. I love that this DVD has segments for both dance and Step, which was exactly what I wanted. The only "down" side is that the DVD menu isn't broken down into smaller segments, which would give viewers optimal control over tailoring the workout. However, the DVD is still well worth buying!

I love this dvd. 20 years ago I was in the gym taking step aerobics 4 days a week. Let me be honest, life has gotten in the way of me working out. And, I needed a workout program that was something fun; yet, had just enough impact to get my heart pumping without making me feel fat, out of shape, and eventually defeated.. This dvd has me on the path to fitness. And, the steps/workout wasn't so difficult that I had trouble keping up. I was able to watch the dvd once and, then jump right into the workout. It was just that simple. I will definietly look for Nekea Brown's name when searching for more workout dvd's.

It was hard for me to follow the pace of the stepping because there was such a pause between moves and these moves were long and exaggerated. The music-boring, The dance workout didn't thrill me at all.

I took a beginning ballroom class in high school - 11 years ago. The steps in this video are SO easy that I already knew them. It is truly for someone who has NEVER danced. But if I follow it, I do get my heart rate up, it's quite repetitive and a little boring, honestly.

Have tons of step videos.don't like any of them. This is a great dvd! Great for beginners and people like me who are getting back into step again. Not boring, before you know it, you had a great workout. She has included dance to mix it up.You can step one day and dance the next. Would recommend to anyone.

Once you begin the workout you can't hear a word she is saying. Audio problem. There is music. It's like watching a film in another language. You know lips are moving but you don't know what they are saying.

Say What??????? Probably wont use! - Workout Dvd - Step - Good - Beginners'

Utv Winches

I spent the last few weeks looking for a winch and was real close to buying one from our local Harbor Frieght. After looking at HF's winch, I decided to wait and do some research, the seals around electrics weren't tight enough to keep bugs out let alone moisture and some of the plastics had cracks or pieces missing. Either really poor job putting out on display or packaging to store was grossly inadequate.

On to the superwinch....I researched google, many many atv parts and add on sellers, Ebay, and of course amazon. This winch was by far the best value in a name brand winch (you get a generic mount plate, remote (corded) switch, handlebar mount, relay, overload and all wiring necessary to mount the winch, and the more user friendly mechanical brake (units with these tend to cost more as well . On top of that most name brand winches were selling for similar money for their 2000 lb winch and this Superwinch is 3000lb. My only disappointment was....Made in China, though a producers that has higher product appearance requirements for products they're assembling for Superwinch. All in all very happy! Made in USA would have been better. Superwinch 1130220 LT3000 ATV Winch

This winch is one of the most quiet winches that I've ever heard. The supplied instructions are generic in the sense that it only shows you a diagram of how the parts are hooked together.

I mounted this winch on a 2006 Arctic Cat 650 H1. All total it took me roughly 3 1/2hrs to get everything mounted, wires ran, and everything hooked up. I bought a winch mount for my Arctic Cat 650 H1 off of Amazon.

The winch mount has the middle portion raised to compensate for the front tow hook welds. The middle portion of the winch mount is raised up roughly about 3/4in. The supplied winch mount for this winch doesn't exactly fit as described in the instructions. I turned the plate backwards on the winch because of the supplied winch plate design. If you put the plate the way the instructions dictate, the cable will rub the supplied winch mount when mounted on a Arctic Cat 650 H1.

I ended up having to go to Lowes and buy 4 8x1.25mm bolts to make the SuperWinch bolt up using the Arctic Cat winch mount. The supplied bolts (Arctic Cat winch mount) are about 1in too short.

Despite having to go buy new bolts (that fits), the hardest part was just running the wires for the SuperWinch. I have the solenoid for the winch mounted on the inside of the left side panel (right beside left knee). The wires running from the winch itself I ran up through the steering column area and around the airbox. The breaker box (about 2inches long) I was able to fit underneath the seat near the rear brake reservoir. The handle switch is mounted on the right side handle bar below the front brake reservoir. The remote control switch hookup is mounted on the left side of the ATV right below the left handle bar, 1/2in above the "Arctic Cat" sticker logo. The rest of the wire hook ups were fairly simple (just a matter of plugging them in).

Once everything was hooked up, it worked like a charm. After the initial test, I performed a strength test by running the winch cable over a huge oak tree limb and winching the 720lb Arctic Cat 20ft up into the tree. Strange sight it was, but the SuperWinch LT series 3000lb winch put my 4wheeler in the tree quite easily.

I needed a winch for my snowplow and perhaps occassionally to get me out of a tight spot in the woods and this winch seems to fit the bill perfectly. Great price from Amazon with free shipping; can't beat that. It installed easily and quickly on my Yamaha Grizzly and performs just as advertised and expected.

I purchased this winch mostly because of the price. Having burned out two Warns I thought I would give this super-winch a try. As I started to install it, I realized the winch plate that came with it(the plate that holds the rollers) did not match up with the mounting holes on the winch itself.

Also one of the internal mounting nuts was striped. I have to tap new threads. I was disappointed also with the circuit breaker part of the power lead. It has bolts that need to be covered so they don't come in contact with metal body parts from the quad. With space at a minimum this will be difficult.

I would assume the parts that shipped with this product would fit. They did not

I installed this winch on my new Kawasaki Brute Force 650. The mounting plate that came with it is worthless. I ordered one specifically for my bike, and it all went in perfect. I had no problems with the mounting hardware at all. The wirirng was a pain, only because of how little space there is. Took about 9 hrs to install completely. I took my time, so it would only have to be done once. Everything works great, and looks sweet. For the price it can't be beat.

The winch was an excellent buy. The mounting instructions were easy to follow, I had no problems. The price is unbeatable. Thanks Amazon .I Would recommend this to

anyone looking for a good winch at a reasonable price.

I'm deleting my previous review of praise because this winch has two major flaws.

The mounting hardware on mine was soft, and the nuts, integrated into the housing of the winch had trouble threading. One of them stripped and they were all hard to get started. There is no way to get at these and replace them with proper nuts.

Also, upon respooling I had the cable get outside of the reel. It damaged the cable and jammed the winch. The spool sides are too shallow, and the whole spool may have even shifted to allow a cable to fall into this area. Poor design if you ask me, and I've never had this problem with other winches.

Returning to amazon.'
