Contemporary Jazz

A Night Out With Verve is exactly what it's advertised to be, Wining, Dining, Dancing and Romancing. This is an excellent introduction to some of the greatest jazz music of all time. The artists represented on this collection are a virtual "who's who" of jazz giants. The highlights are far too numerous to mention, but I'll try. There's Miles Davis performing the Thelonius Monk classic 'Round Midnight, Perdido by Duke Ellington, But Beautiful by Stan Getz and Bill Evans and Isn't It Romantic by Benny Carter. There are also outstanding vocal performances such as Billie Holiday's It Had To Be You, Reaching For The Moon by the incomparable Ella Fitzgerald, Little Girl Blue by Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong and a most romantic reading of I Should Care by The Velvet Fog, Mel Torme. Considering the budget price of this collection, the sound, the packaging and most of all the music, this is an outstanding value. Weather your jazz collection contains hundreds of albums by these great masters or you're a jazz neophite, I highly recommend this wonderful box-set. There are many many hours to savor, as you wine and dine and dance and romance. Night Out With Verve

I bought this 8 months ago after hearing a single track. I don't usually buy boxed sets, but the price was great and I took a chance.I have been rewarded beyond all measure. This is a great buy at twice the price. This is one collection that I can play and play and play. It is not only stuffed with great music, but the selections and the way that they are arranged is nothing short of breathtakingly brilliant. A wonderful companion whether you're just listening, or wining, dining, dancing... or romancing!

I'm a die-hard Ella Fitzgerald fan, and when I heard her along with Louis Armstrong and such other greats as Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, George Shearing, Chet Baker, Dizzy, and others, I absolutely had to buy it. Have given it as gifts on many occasions, and everyone loves it....even the youngsters ( between 25 and 40)!. Great buy, and great gift for any occasion.

E. Perry

I ordered this CD with some trepidation, but I've been very pleasantly surprised. A great variety of music and artists, combined with a good song mix of favorites and unknowns, make this a must-have for anyone who already has a good collection, or is looking to build one. This volume and variety of music for this price is a great find!

I bought this box (paid a little more!) and it's totally worth it. Each disc sets a different mood with a mixture of standards and obscure tracks. Verve is one of the legendary jazz labels with many varied artists. The sound quality throughout is perfect. You can't lose.

I would highly recommend this set to anyone who is starting a new Jazz Collection. It has a selection of all the greats & even some contemporaries. This set gives you the chance to listen & discover all of these artists & then it is up to you to investigate those artists that appeal to you. You won't find too many sets i'd imagine that have all these jazz legends in a set like this especially at this budget price.

Absolutely love the collection from Verve's archives. Features some of the best and the most beloved performers of great Jazz era. Wining, Dining, Dancing and my favorite Romancing. Seems like there is a limitless list of absolute fantastic ballads and wonderful dance numbers. Beautiful music, will recommend to everyone I see.

I had great expectations for this product based on the other reviews. I have so far listened to the Dining and Dancing CDs. I am not a music expert, but even to me most of the songs seemed to be mediocre selections of the artists.

The dance music may be good for tap dancers. There was hardly any good swing selections. The Louis Armstrong selection is hardly dance music. There is nothing that says that a particular music relates to the activity.

But it is still a good selection from a wide variety of artistes.'

Winter Boots - wide calf, suede

I just got the boots today and I am very happy with my purchase. The bottom has good traction for icy conditions. The boots are true to size and they are knee hight. They have faux fur all inside including the sole which makes them very warm and confortable. I don't know is they are waterproof since I have not wore them in the rain but I am very happy with my purchase and would raccomend them to others. CL by Chinese Laundry Women's Magnifique Boot,Black,8.5 M US

Don't be fooled by the cute appearance of these boots. I'm just returning the ones I bought. The quality and workmanship are substandard--they look like the'd fall apart after a few hours of wearing. In addition, the boots run very wide in the calf (this coming from someone whose calves aren't skinny). Granted, they're slip-ons, but those ribbon decorations on the back could've been put to practical use with a more sensible design. - Suede - Wide Calf - Cold Weather Boots - Faux Fur'

Amazon Oddities - underwear, hands

Handerpants are very, very comfortable - more so than a traditional glove. They provide my knuckles with a decent amount of support and I never, ever find myself having to adjust them in public. While I have had a few cases of "swamp hand", especially on warmer days, the overall comfort level remains high. Loose fitting gloves have always been more of a problem, but now, with Handerpants, my hairy knuckles are gently cradled by the soft lining and I no longer have to be concerned when running.

HOWEVER -

These things are very, very susceptible to staining and, after consuming a relatively melty chocolate bar, I was ridiculed for having skid marks on my hands. If only these gloves came in other colors! :( Nothing is more embarrassing than having people point at the guy who looks like he doesn't know how to properly wipe his hands! Accoutrements Handerpants

I loved this product when I got it in the mail, I mean, they come in pairs! The white cotton is breathable and durable. Everything you'd want in underpants. I've been looking for these for a long time. These underpants come with all the necessary holes pre-sewn to accomodate 4 legs and a tail. It was tough to get them on Mittens at first but soon with a few staples and some duct tape, he's doing fine. No more unsightly furry male cat genitalia for upstanding citizens to have to be affronted by. Thanks, Handerpants!

As a genetic bio-engineer, I am working on architecting the growth of organs and appendages via biological induction grafting. For you dummies, that means I do things like grow human ears on mice. It's super cool.

One day I fell asleep at work, in the lab, and a couple of the office knuckleheads decided to prank yours truly. Here's what went down. See, we had this dick in the freezer - some Japanese guy kicked off and donated it to us. It's in his will and everything. Pretty wild, right?

So, other than occasionally pulling it out of the fridge and sticking it in Benny's ear for a goof, it doesn't get much action.

Currently we're working on growing a thumb - it's pretty great because all the mice look like they're doing the Fonz's "Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" as they have a big thumb sticking up on their backs.

Because we're so tied up with the thumb, we have no time to mess around with the freezer dick. Eventually we'll learn how to grow dicks, although more people need new thumbs than dicks, you know?

But, back to my story.

I passed out around noon after a particularly heavy Arby's beef and cheddar lunch. It was one of those five-for-five deals, and I put down the sandwiches in about seven minutes.

When I woke up, Carl was pointing at my hand and laughing. Those bozos has grafted the Japanese dick to my right palm!

Well, two weeks later and the dick's still attached. Apparently my body has "accepted" the dick, and if I have it removed, it'll die or something.

I know - totally bummed.

I reported Carl to HR - although, I did have to admit it was a pretty solid gag. But, walking around with a dick on my hand is a little inconvenient. Plus, it's embarrassing.

Most people don't like seeing dicks in public - there's actually a lot of trouble you can get in showing you dick around town. It's a big deal to the law.

I found the Handerpants on Amazon. It sucks to type with a dick on your hand, as I'm always hitting the "/" key accidentally.

I can now go out into public with ALL of me. My real dick and my palm-dick are both out of sight. And the gloves are fingerless, so I have a little hipster fashion thing going on.

Thank you Handerpants!

Attention public - if you see me walking around, do NOT give me a high five. That really hurts!

Meh. These are ok, but I have "big hands" if you know what I'm sayin', so I'm hoping for a pouch design that will help alleviate the unsightly palm bulge that has left me more than a little embarrassed on several occasions. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing a thong design for the warmer months. Nothing's worse than having a sweaty hand leave obvious streaks across your hand skivvies.

After having lunch at the 99 cent Taco and Indian food restaurant around the corner from my home i luckily (or so i thought!) managed to buy a pair of these before returning to work. They are completely useless! i was barely even able to get the pair of premium 95% cotton, 5% spandex men's briefs onto my foot; Nevermind up my leg! After a bit of contorting in the Texaco men's room, along with judicious use of some duct tape, i was finally able to get them on and return to work. i do not intend to use the second pair that comes in the package.

There are no more awkward moments of uncertainty, as the derriere stares at approaching hands that must certainly look ghastly or threatening. Rectum? You know the rest. Fear no more with Handerpants; there is familiarity, kinship. They're in the same social circle, the same gang. The fear associated with mud butt has a cure!

Softer than Charmin, there remains one major flaw with this product: the fingerless design. Let me just say that things get a bit messy regardless of hygienic techniques if you're finishing off a pint and a plate of nuclear hot wings.

Definitely worth the purchase to ease the rectal anguish

If you have ever longed for your hands to have that well-travelled, sophisticated look seen on the runways and locker rooms of Europe's most sophisticated cities, you won't want to miss out on Handerpants! The fit is perfection, the workmanship is devine, the price is just right and they are equally a delight on both men and women!

Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for HANDERPANTS!

I have to say, I was extremely excited to sport my handerpants for the first day of school. The fit and support gave me extra confidence, I even got up the nerve to say hi to that cute Brenda Bigchest at her locker!! ;-) But then that class bully Tommy Toughguy grabbed the band on my right hand and pulled it above my elbow. While I was rolling on the ground, writhin in pain, he did the same to my left hand! Then he hung me on the chain link fence by the bands. That's why I, Ned Nerdalert, is rating this product 2 stars. Save yourself the humiliation, don't buy Handerpants - just give the money directly to the class bully. - Underwear - Briefs - Funny - Hands'

Lcd Wall Mount - lcd tv, display

This is a secure mount. The only problem I had was inadequate mounting instructions. One of the problems encountered was no instructions on what to do if the ceiling is too low. We had to hack saw off a good portion since my ceiling in the basement is low. Also, it would have helped if we had instructions on which direction to mount it so that it swiveled and stopped in the right position which would have been directly in front of my treadmill. We had to take it down and drill more holes. Now the TV swivels away from the treadmill to 180 degrees where I can see it from my work area on the opposite side of the room. All in all, I would recommend this product. Wiper Blades

These are awesome for the price!! We bought a new (used) car and the next day got some rain and the wipers were so bad I had to pull over till the rain let up so I could see the road, so I got home and ordered this and some others, I need 3 different sizes for my car, and I have PRIME so there were here really quick and they worked better than the ones had purchased for my other car and paid double for!! I will only buy the rain-x for now on!! Rain-X Weatherbeater Wiper Blade - 13"

I have tried various wiper blades that claim they will last for years. Graphite,Silicon type etc: All have streaked in less than a year. Consumers Report, of the blades they tested rated all blades streaked after 6 months, except for the Rain-X. These are not expensive blades, as some I have tried. Do not yet have a history.'

Touch Screen Tablet Accessories - stylus, iphone stylus

I have been using a Pogo Sketch for quite some time and I can assure you that the Targus stylus beats the Pogo and every other stylus hands down! In fact, I recently was employed by one of the largest wireless carriers in their marketing department and worked closely with the person responsible for buying all accessories that are sold in our stores. She had tested and trialed dozens of styluses a d had determined that pogo was the best available stylus at the time. Last month, I visited her and showed her the Targus stylus. Like me, she was blown away. She is now going to contact Targus for samples to put through their tests. It works great with iPhone and iPad -- and especially great with Penultimate. It is high-quality and feels great in my hand. It is as thick as a normal ballpoint pen, and the clip is made of sturdy metal (not cheap plastic like the Pogo). The tip is soft rubber, but not at all sticky like some other inferior rubber styluses). Using this on an ipad is so silky smooth and a pleasure to use. Buy this, you will not be disappointed!! Targus Stylus for Apple iPad 16GB, 32GB, 64GB WiFi + 3G, iPad 2, iPhone, iPod, Tablet AMM01US (Black)

Here's what I found after trying a multitude of styluses (or is it styli?) after buying an iPad 2. I wanted to use an iPad as a sketch book and the pad like it's name...and go digital rather than filling up notebook after notebook. So the perfect stylus has to feel like a pen and work well enough on the screen to give the tactile feel of drawing or writing on paper.

I learned that styluses tips are of 2 main types - fuzzy fabric and rubber - with some additional quirky ones made of metal (O-Stylus) or even sausage (supposed to work like your finger!).

--Fabric tips:

Pogo stylus- also used by Apple Geniuses - have a fabric tip that's great for typing or selecting or gaming even but not so good for writing or sketching anything more complex than a smiley face.

Sock Stylus - There is a seller on etsy who is selling sock styluses with conductive fabric "sock" stretched over a wooden quill which has been sawed off for the perfect length. I found that stylus a little less sensitive than the Targus and you have to hold it at a certain angle for best results. However, if you're writing pages worth of notes on iPad then it tends to make the hand less tired than the Targus as Targus has a squishy rubber tip that can cause some fatigue.

There are other fuzzy fabric styluses out there sold by small stores - like the ones by the guy who has been advertising on all Mac forums and posting pictures of his store in competitors' item images. They claim that they have the best yet but I haven't tried those yet.

--Rubber tips:

The Targus in question has a rubber tip. Please check my uploaded pic for size comparison against some other styluses.

The rubber tip on this stylus looks pretty thick but is still thinner than our fingers. The problem is that it does block the view when writing or sketching just like our finger. There is also another 2nd gen ACase that has tried to eliminate some of that by creating a longer stylus and a thinner and longer rubber tip but failed to deliver as the thinner tip had to be held at certain angles to write well and became more squishy and less natural.

This Targus has been the best of the 4-5 styluses I tried so far (refer to the pic) overall as it is the most responsive of all and has a matte finish stem rather than ACase's smooth finish which makes it a little less slippery to hold. The iPad 2 is already so slinky, I don't want to worry about dropping the stylus too!! It performed well on Penultimate and UPad writing apps and SketchBook Express the sketching app and captured light strokes as well as the heavier strokes. The performance was a lot better than the Acase 2nd Generation Apple iPad / iPhone / iPod Capacitive Stylus (Jet Black) Newest Modeland a shade better than the Acase 2 in 1 Stylus + Pen for Apple iPad 16GB, 32GB, 64GB WiFi + 3G, iPad 2, iPhone, iPod, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy, BlackBerry Playbook (Black). And don't even bother trying the really cheap ones 3 Pack (Red + Black + Silver) of Universal Touch Screen Stylus Pen for Apple iPod Touch 2nd 3rd 4th Gen, iPhone 3G 3GS 4th Gen Generation, they're perhaps ok for tapping a little but not for writing or sketching. Although some people have suggested on forums that roughing up the rubber tip of the cheap styluses with a sandpaper makes them work better.

I've also heard good things about the Boxwave and Alupen but haven't tested them so I can't say if they're better than Targus.

So there you have it, Targus was the winner in writing and sketching on iPad but still not the perfect stylus as it is not as responsive as I would like. I'm still looking for that perfect stylus.

This stylus is smaller and more precise than my finger, and keeps the screen cleaner. It also works with a touch screen mobile phone and easily distinguishes between a touch and a swipe. Best of all is when using Pages or Numbers on an iPad, as one can hit the small icons with ease. The hemispherical tip ensures contact over a wide range of angles so the stylus can be held as one would a regular pen.

The stylus has a quality appearance with a chrome accent and a metal pocket clip. The top of the pen has a small hole through which a lanyard may be attached. It is only available in black, but that does not detract from its functionality. It is an excellent and inexpensive accessory for the iPad.

Update: After six months of daily use, the rubber tip has perished and the stylus must be replaced. Its replacement will be a stylus with a longer lasting polymeric material and not one with soft rubber.

At a staff meeting a couple weeks ago, we sat around comparing iPad accessories. Everyone agreed that a stylus was a must have for senior software architects with large and somewhat stiff fingers. (God only knows what we have done to stiffen them.) We passed around 3 or 4 different styluses. The general agreement was that the Targus was the best. The tip is has the right degree of softness and the clip is well designed. The electrical engineer who held out for a rolled up piece of raw bacon was ignored. I ordered a Targus stylus because it was sold out locally. It does work well. My only complaint is the silly string. The latch is hard to work and a stylus dangling on a two inch thread is wrong in many ways. The problem is easily and completely solved by throwing the string away. - Targus - Stylus - Touch Screen Stylus - Iphone Stylus'

Glue Sticks - pastes, art glues

I use these glue sticks myself and always have quite a number of them around for various needs and projects. My use of them is not what makes this product so great though. I have a slew of nieces and nephews that constantly invade my homes and as I am the single sister (translate that to "free child care specialist") I have been appointed the adult (that is a laugh) to house break the little critters.

I found out very quickly that nothing made my sisters, and sister-in-laws madder than to send their precious little urchins home to them with glue, dirt, grime and "stuff" all over their pretentious little designer clothing. I was constantly in trouble I can tell you! Well, I solved one of my many problems in this area by purchasing these nifty little glue sticks.

I always have projects ready for the little twerps when they show up; many of which require a lot of cutting, drawing and pasting. I was forever desperately washing clothing trying to remove glue stains and the like before the cubs were picked up by their fussy, neuortic and uptight parents. With these sticks this has cut a lot of that out. They are neat to use and when the little ones do get it all over the place, it is easy to wash out of their clothing and off of my table tops and off their grubby little (although I must admit...cute) hands. It, by the way, incase you are wondering, is easy to wash from dog fur when the little ones decide to decorate their four legged friends with cutout pictures, ribbons, etc.

Since I have noted that children like to use waaaay too much glue on their projects, these sticks are even more useful as they force the child to use less and be a bit neater in what they are doing. The last project we did was mounting dried leaves we had collected this summer and pressed. It was delicate work as the leaves were quite fragile and the kids did a wonderful job on them when they mounted them to the paper they prepared and then mounted the paper to the cardboard backing.

Good product and I highly recommend it. Avery Glue Stic, 0.26 oz, Pack of 6, (98095)

I like using these for school projects, scrapbooking, and most other paper projects. Sticky, not wet, so you don't have to worry about bleed-thru, even on regular notebook paper. They're so economical that you barely notice when one goes missing. This was advertised as a pack of 6, but I was lucky to get a bonus pack with 2 extra! They are non-toxic and washable which make them great for younger children.

This glue stick works better than any other glue stick I've tried. It can get a bit messy and runs out pretty fast, but they are secondary concerns. It does its primary job very well, which is to stick stuff to other stuff.

I've also used the purple version of this glue stick and they seem to do about the same job.

I like the small size because it's easy for me to tape my envelopes without getting glue all over everyting. I would order again. I still say the shipping and handling with Amazon is my only problem.

As all of you know, I am constantly looking around for products that will improve your life. No, I am not talking about those infomercials that promise you a blanket with sleeves when a cloth poncho will do, or those ab devices that promises a six-pack in 60 days when all it does is roll your fat around. Oh no people, I have done my research and the product I am reviewing offers no false promises. It's the real deal (just like me) so listen up!

As you all know, a busy famous Seer, like myself, collects a lot of memorabilia over time. I have tons of newspaper clippings to organize. I am sure you remember the picture of me dashinging into a limo with Lady Gaga to escape the papparazzi. Also me, on the cover of Esquire with Muhammad Ali and two beautiful Playboy Bunnies. Hmmm.... that was awhile ago, wasn't it?

And, along with all this, are many pictures that I have collected. Well, there's one of me and Lincoln on the train to Gettysburgh taken by Matthew Brady. It shows me, leaning over, and pointing to a few corrections to be made in his speech. There's one of me and Sondra the Seeress vacationing on the Riviera. Also subsequent photos of me in the hospital after the shark attack. I tell ya people, I have a ton of photos. Many are pictures taken with dignataries and foreign diplomats. I even have some of my spirit guides, Marshy, Guido and Chance. Unfortunately, when the film was developed, the only thing you could see were orbs. I had to hire a police sketch artist to finally get their likeness.

Anyway, I finally got photo albums and scrap books to organize all this, but I was dreading what to use to secure my treasures. Yes, I have used all sorts of things in the past. The scotch tape always dried out and the glue always oozed and got messy. The pages would stick together and the paste got all over my clothes. It got so bad that the running joke was that they should use me as fly paper. A Seer of my stature should NOT be treated with such ridicule! After all, I have a fan base to deceive!

And so, I recently purchased this product and it's an answer to my dreams. It's called Glue Stic and all you have to do is glide it over a surface (paper, photos etc.), set the object in place and press. That's it! Done! There is no residue to clean up and it does not stain your clothes or gum up your fingers. It glides very easily and is perfect for any project you want to do. Of course, this is light glue so don't expect it to bind that broken metal chain on your swing set. There are limitations and, and this price, don't expect miracles.

There is a twist turn on the bottom so you can let out more glue as you need it. There is on caveat though. One morning, before I was fully awake, I almost used it as a deodorant. So keep this away from the medicine cabinet people!

In closing, have fun using this. I think it's the best thing invented since white out (which no one uses anymore I bet). But, have no fear! As long as photos, cardboard and paper exist, there will definitely be a need for this. Now you must excuse me, I have to set this photo of me and Mick Jagger at Studio 54 into place.

Motion Sensor Outdoor - first alert, home safety

Needed to increase lighting in very dark front yard and sidewalk for visitors, also wanted to increase security. Saw this at Home Depot. Very easy to install in existing lamp post, just a few screws. Good directions. Simple to adjust settings although you have to unscrew and lift off post to make changes but this is easy, too. Had for 1 month so far, working perfectly.

Love 40% dim feature, provides enough light to see yard from window, increases to full brightness for 1,5 or 20 minutes when motion sensed. I set it to brighten x 5 mins when motion sensed, keep it on for 6 hours after dusk so it turns off entirely around 11 pm or midnight or later depending on season, then switches off completely unless motion sensed.

Only issue: wish it had wider degree sensor than 150 degrees, so it would sense motion over a wider area, perhaps 200 or 240 degrees.

Highly recommended. Heath Zenith SL-4100-BK-A 150 Degree Motion Sensing Post Light Sensor, Black

Purchased two of these motion detectors for pole lights in the front yard. Lots of settings (Dusk to dawn, 1,5,20 minute turn off, 3,6 hour after dusk etc.) Easy to install (comes with the conectors), attractive and a remarkably good motion sensor... works farther than stated (90ft!).

One drawback is with the usage of florescent lights (CFL)can be problematic. It would flicker on for the first minute after startup due to the "DualBright" technology. The simple fix was to use two CFL and one standard incandescent. This solved the problem and it's working great!

Easy install and better looking conversion unit than the previous one. Timer and sensor adjustments under post mount so needs to be lifted to make adjustments. However, this protects them from the weather.

I was tired of constantly forgetting to turn on our driveway post light. This is great! I just flip on the switch (and actually got a switch attachment to keep mt from turning it off), and the light turns on at dusk and off at dawn. In between, it dims the bulb after 5 minutes (there are other setting, I just chose 5 min.) until something else activates it.

Although this product was intended to sit on a post below a light fixture and control it, I'm using it on a short post on my entry porch to control a rope light mounted below the edge of a step that people often failed to notice. Now, when they walk up to the step, or come out the front door, the motion sensor detects their presence and turns on the rope light and makes the edge of the step impossible to miss. I appreciate the fact that the sensor only turns on the light at night and not during the day. It's been a great solution to a safety problem. For a nonstandard use like mine, it would be nice if they would offer an option of a closed cover to mount on top of the sensor to keep the weather out. Finding something to serve that purpose was a challenge. Never the less, the Motion Sensing Post Light Sensor is a well made, versatile, product.

very easy to install. dual bright is SUPER.. lights come on at dark at half wattage.. then when they see motion.. full wattage... i think every outdoor light should be like this.. Al Gore would like it LOL. of course you can adjust how long the light is at full wattage and how long after dusk.. i keep them dusk to dawn.. sorry Al. good luck please rate my review..

The sensor is working well. I bought it to replace one that had been installed years ago, but was the victim of ice thrown by a snow blower. Interesting that this sensor is made of plastic....the first one was metal. Time will tell how well the plastic performs.

The product was difficult to locate...glad it was on Amazon at a reasonable price.

Easy installation and works as promised. Do need to remove from lamp post to readjust but that isn't too difficult.

Mutiple setting options to customize how the light works, we live in a very dark neighborhood, now we do not have to leave the light on at all times.

Saving electricity with this motion sensing post light sensor was my priority. It is a good product to be considered by everyone. Decent priced, Amazon.com offered me the chance to buy it when nowhere I could find it. Thanks. - Home Safety - Home Security - First Alert - Motion Sensor'

Xbox Live Subscription - microsoft, video games

To start off, I'd like to say that X-Box Live is amazing and worth every penny. Online gaming is incredibly fun and quite a good way to pass time.

That aside, there are downsides to X-Box Live that can be avoided through prepaid cards. Number one, you always run the risk that unwarranted transactions will be made if your credit card information is stored on your X-Box 360 system. It may not happen all that often, but it's best to avoid it all together.

The biggest reason to buy prepaid Xbox Live card is the renewal process that happens when you don't use one. If you order X-Box Live through your system, it'll renew every time your subscription runs out. This wouldn't be a problem except that it's not that easy to cancel. Instead of canceling through your system, you have to go through the hassle of actually calling X-Box Live support. Even then, depending on the representative you get, you may be hassled to keep your subscription because they really don't want you to cancel it. I'm guessing that's part of their job to convince you to keep it, but it still is frustrating to the person that is trying to cancel it.

You'll have to go through this process every time you want to cancel if you don't use a prepaid card. Is that hassle really worth it? I don't think so. Therefore, avoid all of the problems by simply buying a prepaid card. You won't be sorry.

UPDATE: (3/6/2011): I updated this review about a year ago pointing out that you could disable the subscription on X-Box Live's website. As of this update, they've taken that feature away again. I'm guessing Microsoft must have seen a major increase on people who canceled their subscription, thus now forcing you to call their customer service hot-line again to cancel. Even if they add it back, just save yourself the hassle and get a prepaid card. You never have to worry about dealing with customer service that will try their hardest to get you to stay on as a recurring customer. Amazon also gives great deals throughout the year. You could save yourself $20 to $30 sometimes just by checking to see if Amazon has these prepaid cards on sale. What's not to love about that? Xbox 360 Live Subscription Gold Card [Online Game Code]

From what I can find this is the cheapest cost per month option available for a live gold subscription. Depending on the current price, it ranges from $2.9158 to $3.3325 per month. What I don't get is why this credit card sized subscription card comes in such wasteful packaging. It comes in a rather large plastic packaging, which requires it to be shipped in a box. You get free shipping, but how wasteful. Why doesn't amazon just offer the code online and not eat the cost of shipping and at the same time be a little greener?

Find the card on sale every so often each year. Don't pay the full price. The Xbox Live Gold is stellar and I love it, but I don't see how they charge $50 or more a year and you don't get any freebies...other than advanced demo downloads. They need to throw a bone for a free song or discounted DLC or a free rental every so often. I have spent well over $1000 in my 3 years with the Xbox 360 on peripherals, games and downloads. 2% of my money spent as a gift would have paid for 1600 points of DLC...that would be a nice thank you from Xbox 360 for keeping their community alive and well.

This is the BEST deal I have ever found on the Xbox Live 12 Month Subscription.

I looked 6-10 different places for a deal on this and only found 1 close to this and that was wal-fart but I dislike shopping there so Amazon was the place to go.

This should be a guaranteed buy and you CAN'T beat the Price!!!

I was worried that the card would not work in Canada, but it seems to be fine. Have been using XBOX LIVE for about a week with no problems, but will hang on to the card, as advised by another reviewer, just in case.

There's nothing more fun than being able to go online everyday day and being able to talk to and play with friends around the world. Xbox live is also a great way to meet new people and make new friends. This can be hard because there are so many immature people on Xbox Live. I would warn anyone with small children or those who do not like foul language to be careful because never in your life will you hear the F bomb or the N word as often as you do on Live. Of course there are parental settings and you can keep communications just between friends but still this is one of the biggest downfalls to Live. Another problem with Live is customer service. Yes, you can e-mail them or call them at 1-800-4myxbox (good luck getting help there) but the service is terrible. Even with these downfalls I still have to strongly recommend Live because being able to play videogames over the internet and keep up with friends and family that live far away is too much fun to pass up. - Video Games - Microsoft'

Liquid Ink Highlighters - school supplies, fluorescent

I'm an avid school supply shopper, mainly pens and highlighters, purely because I'm just this HUGE school supply geek. Usually, I use Pentel because I trust the brand so all of the pens and pencils I use are Pentel. However, one day I decided to branch out and use Bic. I use Bic pens sometimes so I decided "why not?" Plus, the brand is inexpensive so I wouldn't waste too much on it if I didn't like them.

So I bought these because I needed new highlighters. These highlighters certainly get the job done. They don't really bleed through but you CAN see the color on the other side of the paper so this wouldn't be great if you'd consider that a distraction. The design is very sleek so I liked that because it doesn't take up a lot of space. So, if you're not looking for anything special I suggest that you buy these. They're inexpensive and are all you really need to get the job done rather than any fancy highlighters.

However, the colors were not bright enough for me. I like highlighters that have color that just pop out in your face and sort of make you look at them. These highlighters don't do that for me. The pink is especially too pale for my taste. I did like the orange but it still isn't bright enough for me. Now, if bright bright bright highlighters give you a headache, then these are completely fine. I'm not saying anything is wrong with them but if you like bright highlighters, like myself, then I don't recommend them. Otherwise, I don't see why one shouldn't. BIC Brite Liner, Assorted Colors (5-Pack)

I bought these because of the design. Most highlighters are short and flat, but this one is more like a pen. I haven't had any problems with my green one because I don't use it very often. For being a highlighter, it is very dark and it usually soaks through the page.

I don't know where the negative reviews are coming from. Although I didn't buy these on Amazon, they are the same thing and the quality is great! I have had mine for a while and they have never dried out or leaked. I like the array of colors and the fact that I can use one color for each class, making my planner easier to read. I just bought another pack today to make sure I'm stocked. Affordable, good quality, and has ever let me down!

Are highlighters old school? Maybe, but I like them. I've been using Sharpie Accents for years. I was attracted to the Brite Lighters because a) they have a nice selection of colors and b) I've always found Bic to be a solid, reputable brand. But these highlighters are terrible ! And I didn't just end up with a bad batch. The ink literally runs out within a week or two of use

and one is stuck with a dried up non-usable marker. I must admit I'm surprised, because Bic pens have always been fairly reliable-- but it's back to Sharpies for me.

The yellow is fine, but the remaining colors are pretty cheap. The orange is a bit too dark to be called a highlighter, more like crossing something out with an orange pen. For the price I paid, I guess its OK. Sharpe highlighers are a bit higher quality.

I am constantly highlighting texts, both for school and personal use. I have tried various highlighters over the years, and the yellow Bic Brite Liner is far and above my favorite. In case you are a little confused by the various ways Bic Brite Liners are described on the many different options available from Amazon (I know I was), you will receive a total of 72 highlighters in two different boxes of six packs (36 highlighters per box) with this particular product. Since I recently spent around $5 dollars for a single six pack (like the ones inside each box), I can say that this is definitely a GREAT DEAL. Note: the price has close to doubled since I bought mine, but it is still a tremendous savings over retail.

The pens arrived in awesome time and they work just fine. But the construction, grip, and overall feel just isn't as good as it used to be. I see other folks have had poor longevity with this product. I will wait to see how these fare, but I can tell that they are not really well built. Oh well, they were like 2 bucks so I can live with that.

This is a great assortment of colors of highlighters. They are slim which I really like and very bright colors. They are cheaper here than in the store too. Perfect for highlighting notes and for using with word searches. - Highlighters - Highlighter - Fluorescent - School Supplies'
