Narrow Crown Stapler - staples, hitachi

I purchased this gun after purchasing their 23 gauge headless pin nailer. Overall its a decent gun. It does not have the same fit and finish of the 23 gauge though. The trigger is quite bulky and loading the staples is a little awkward. These minor things aside once you fire a couple staples this gun is sweet. Very easy to locate and it has a very smooth action. I very much prefer this gun over the porter-cable and senco staplers that seem to be very common. This industry standard machine offers economical flexibility, power and utility -- and does so for a very long time. The small, tight angle head can sneak a whole bunch of torque into some very small places. The head can easily be adjusted right, left, up or down giving the user a lot of options when facing a tight-place job. The balance of the machine as well as the thoughtful positioning of the controls make it seem as though your hands are fully trained in its use the first time you pick it up. The gearing and fine working right angle drive make it almost impossible to stop this durable motor. (But you can do it in a pinch - an ode to the motor design) Last year I had to change the brushes for the second time in 26 years of use. Most people get better wear than this, but in my renovation endeavors I have used this machine for everything between removing a tractor tire to a make-do winch. Other attributes: The auxillary handle is built as well as the machine itself, and is very useable. The box is standard Millwuakee tough should last through the life of the tool. If you install plumbing vents in frame houses every day, you would do better with the venerable 1676 Hole-Hawg by the same manufacturer. Otherwise strong consideration must be given to this machine as your standard 1/2" drill. Can't go wrong. Milwaukee 3107-6 7.0 Amp 1/2-Inch Right Angle Drill with D-Handle

I have renovated several houses and a cabin. One of the tools I always needed was a right angle drill. I bought it and have put it to use drilling holes for electrical wiring and running pipes for plumbing. This is a powerful 1/2 inch drill which will let you drill in between studs, joists and other tight spots. I strongly recommend the Milwaukee Selfeed bits which assist in the drilling process by drawing the bit into the wood. I bought the plumbers bit kit which includes a great selection of the Selfeed bits and auger bits in a convenient carrying case. I highly reccommend these bits. The only down side to this drill is that it will wear you out if you are using it all day lifting it up overhead. This tool has tremendous torque, so make sure you have good footing and use care while drilling because this tool can literally rip itself out of your hands. But if you are using this tool, you are looking to do some serious hole drilling. You will never go back to a regular drill with a spade bit or hole saw. No wonder you will find this tool in almost every electricians and plumbers tool inventory.

The Milwaukee Right Angle Drill 3107-6 applies allot of torque to spaces you otherwise would have trouble reaching with a regular drill. It is ideal for drilling holes between studs for electric, cabling or plumbing. The unit is basically their 7 amp variable speed D handle drill featuring triple gear reduction with a Right Angle Drive (RAD) unit attached that can be set in either low gear at 355rpm or high gear at750rpm. The D handle drill without the RAD will achieve 500 RPM. Changing chuck speed from high to low or visa-versa requires removing the chuck, reversing the RAD unit and then replacing the chuck on the other side. This is fairly easy but it takes about 2-4 minutes and requires a couple of tools that are provided. The Right Angle Drive (RAD) can be easily swiveled 360 degrees providing versatility to meet any drilling angle. Using the drill is a pleasure as it has so much torque it just seems to eat the wood up. No standard hand drill I ever used has this kind of power. The build quality of the unit is of the highest standard and will likely last a lifetime of moderate to heavy use. This model is also fitted with Milwaukee's "quick lock" cord allowing easy replacement in the event the cord becomes damaged. For remodeling, basement finishing, or extensions this drill really shines. Trying to accomplish drilling many holes in wall studs with a standard electric drill would be very time consuming if not impossible for simply not being able to fit one between the studs. If however you do this kind of work every day as a business I would consider either the Hole Hawg or the new Super Hole Hawg. These units are more expensive but feature higher chuck speeds and a transmission that allows you to select the high or low speed without the use of tools. This will allow you to get work done faster when on really big jobs. But for the home owner that enjoys remodeling this Right Angle Drill is really the best choice as it is two tools in one when you consider the D-handle alone with the RAD unit removed. Built like a tank and as much power as you could ever need this drill definately delivers. The only variable will be your choice of bits, I have to place my vote on the Milwaukee self feed bits as they cut very fast and will last a long time between sharpening. So if you have some branch circuits to run or some plumbing to install go get this drill and some self feed bits. It will make the job go much easier.

This is a great drill for making holes in tight spaces. I have gotton by over the years with a 3/8 inch electric drill and spade bits/hole saws to make all of my holes, but I dislike the spade bits because they take forever and quickly wear out, while hole saws often bottom out when cutting anything thicker than 2 by lumber. But this drill, combined with Milwaukee's and Dewalt's resharpenable self-feed bits, makes drilling holes almost effortless and I can now reach spots that I could not have before. The lower RPMs combined with the extra long side handle keep this high torque drill under control when drilling large diameter holes. I purchased a reconditioned unit for the equivalent of about 3 weeks of fees at the local rental center and it looked brand new. I have had good luck buying reconditioned gear and I tend to trust this stuff because I believe that they have been carefully examined and all the defects removed. There's no doubt that this is a specialized tool, but if you have a lot of plumbing and/or electrical work to do than it may be worth getting. It will save you a lot of time, grief, and sweat in the long run. - Drills - Right-angle Drills - Tools - Milwaukee'

Concealers

I've used several brands of concealers, and the most happy with this one. Other brands either gave great coverage, but would be too thick and dry or had too much moisture and sheer once applied. Plus you'd have to wait for it to dry before applying any other make up. I've been using this brand for over a year now, and love that it doesn't cake up on your skin. It has a enough moisture to apply and dabble on your problems areas, but not to the point where it's too sheer. The medium tone must be popular since I'm rarely able to find it in drug stores so thanks for having it here!! Neutrogena Healthy Skin Smoothing Stick Treatment Concealer, Fair 01, 0.10 Ounces (Pack of 2)

This concealer is simply amazing! I ordered "Fair" because it soothes my skin best and it actually goes to my skin really good. I'm not just endorsing it just because of its name but because I'm a typical costumer who usually have an allergic reactions to most of the beauty products here in US (I guess it is also part of my adjustment when we migrated here in US and might be because I'm used to tropical weather)... and I've tried so hard to find the best product for my skin, and then I finally found the best product for me... and since then, I've been using Neutrogena from facial wash down to make ups.... it is very light and gentle on skin (I have a very sensitive skin) as well. So girls, you better grab one cause it will rock your world! :)

Having pretty clear skin and a good complexion, I rarely have need for makeup. "That time of the month" is another story. I use concealer sticks to hide the odd blemish or two I get during this time. One stick will last quite a while. I decided to give this one a shot after my Maybelline concealer got lost during a trip.

Their lightest shade, "Fair 01" is a good match to my skin tone, although I wish it were a little bit lighter (I'm very pale!) I dab lightly and smooth it out to blend in and hide the offending zit. It conceals well and does not cause any further break outs.

Over all, very pleased and would purchase again.'

Milwaukee Braves - boston braves, milwaukee braves

Some books are as deep as a canyon. Others are like a Texas stream after a thunderstorm--a mile wide and an inch deep. Braves fans, welcome to Texas.

"101 Reasons To Love the Braves" is a fast read, mostly photos and captions. You'll learn a little about the Braves that you didn't know, and you'll be reminded of some things you knew but forgot. If you are a fan of baseball history, or better yet, if you are a devotee of the Boston, Milwaukee, or Atlanta incarnation of baseball's oldest continuous franchise, here is a wonderful little volume to please and enlighten.

If nothing else, you have to admire the photos. 101 Reasons to Love the Braves

I purchased this book as a gift and was sort of worried about the size of the book when it arrived. It's about 6x6 but it went over great! She loved it! The perfect gift for a die hard Atlanta Braves fan.

As previous reviews suggest this is a great book for a Braves fan! My husband really enjoyed reading it and loved remembering the great history of the oldest baseball franchise! Highly recommend and fast shipping!

I received this from a close friend, who happened to see it in a book store. Knowing my love for the Braves, she purchased it and sent it to me.

It's a simple book, very easy to read through. Yet there are a lot of photos, and plenty of facts covering the history of Braves from the very beginning in the late 1800's.

It will be a great piece to any sports collection, particularly a Braves one like I have. - Hank Aaron - Milwaukee Braves - Eddie Mathews - Boston Braves'

Bluetooth - ipod, cd player

Bought this for my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT as a replacement for the factory headunit. My car originally had the premium Monsoon stereo, but I was told while it had an external amplifier, it was held back by the not so great Delco head unit. I popped this radio in via a Scosche GM wiring harness from Walmart for $30 and it worked nearly perfectly. Sound is crisp and clear and a vast improvement over the old headunit.

I chose a double din radio because I want to preserve the "stock" look to act as a deterrent against stereo thieves (my 95 Suburban recently had its single din radio stolen). With this radio it's kind of a "have to look twice" to realize it's not the factory radio. And most radio thieves don't give a rip about factory radios. The only problem is that Clarion is on the front of the radio in large enough print. Perhaps I'll have to get a sticker that says Dual or Jensen.lol

Overall sound quality over all the inputs I've used has been very good. The bass is very good, almost too good in fact as my rear deck speakers are probably being pushed to their limits now. Radio reception is pretty good, not quite as good as factory, but good. And that may be due to the fact that I have to use an antenna wire adapter.

I love the customizable face colors. I have a Pontiac and they have red interior, at night the radio totally looks like it's the factory unit.

I picked this unit over it's older sibling the Clarion CX609 because of the way the Bluetooth is implemented. In the CX609 you have to run a microphone and a wire up your A-pillar or wherever you want it (I don't have the patience to do that) with the CX501 it's integrated into the unit itself and with adjustable gain/sensitivity it works very well. It's so convenient.

A weakness is the interface, it's not the most complicated radio I've used but the ease of use from a factory radio is definitely missed. Sometimes when in iPod mode if I'm in a playlist and want to select another song in the playlist, I have to go back out to the top iPod menu then >music>playlists>playlist I want>song I want. Other time it allows me to browse within the playlist without going through the menus again. And I can't figure out why it does that sometimes.

Also installation was kind of a pain. Both do to engineering choices by Clarion and by GM/Pontiac. The space behind the radio is very tight. I originally learned about this unit at crutchfield.com and they said I might have to modify the space to fit the radio. I didn't have to do that, but it's very close fit, and probably would benefit from cutting the rear support bracket. That said, the clearance issue wasn't due to the radio itself, but the RCA jacks coming out of the rear of the unit. Most radios I've seen have female RCA jack ports in the back for adding on an amplifier. This radio has female RCA jack wires in the back meaning that even if you don't use an amplifier, you still have the RCA jacks coming out of the back of the radio. And they go right up against the rear mounting bracket in my car. Had these just been empty ports, my installation would have been relatively easy. But it does work and it does fit in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am. It's not the prettiest install, but it is doable.

Also, the illumination/dimming feature doesn't seem to be working on my unit. I have the setting on, but when my headlights come on everything dims to the night setting except the radio. Now this could be a defect in my unit or a defect in my data harness (the one from Walmart). It's not a big issue though, at least not for me. I'm going to give Clarion the benefit of the doubt and say it's a problem with the data harness by Scosche, since I bought it from Walmart.

Overall, I'm loving this radio and am glad I decided to go with it. I recommend it, but if you have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, I'd keep a radio shop on speed dial, I came really close to giving up and having my local shop install it.lol

Oh, and the price here on Amazon is a really really good price. It's $50 less than Crutchfield and the few radio shops that carry it. Clarion Mobile Electronics CX501 - 2-DIN CD/Bluetooth/USB Receiver

I bought this for a 2005 Chevy Colorado. I used a Metra 95-2009 Double DIN Installation Multi-Kit for Select 1995-2008 GM/Honda/Isuzu/Suzuki Vehicles installation kit and an Axxess GMRC-01 Class II GM Chime Retention Interface to keep my chimes - my truck doesn't have On-Star or a separate factory amp. I also got the Scosche Mda-1B 1988 - Up Gm Micro/Delco Antenna Adapter because GM uses a small antenna plug. All parts were exactly what I needed. The radio fit perfectly WITHOUT cutting the truck's metal rear support bracket inside the dash. The truck has Boston Acoustic speakers in the front doors and factory speakers in the rear. As a result I keep the fader set to the front speakers only. This truck has no dimmer wire or illumination wire so the dimming feature will not work. I did not need navigation because I use my Droid and I don't need DVD or movies in the truck. I had that feature in my last head unit for three years and never did watch a movie in the truck.

I like that it's compatible with my existing Sirius SCC1 receiver - I didn't want to have to buy a proprietary Sirius receiver. That kind of thing just rankles me and it's a BIG reason I chose this unit. I just plugged it in and it simply worked. The unit will hold 18 Sirius presets and I can choose to display Artist and Track at the same time.

Also, the ability to read USB MP3 files is great - I like to throw audio books on a USB stick for long drives. The Clarion will remember the track position even after the truck is turned off and the USB stick removed so when I put the USB stick in again the unit will shift to the USB source and start playing where it left off. This is a great feature for audio books. Fastforward/rewind is accomplished by holding the Next Track/Previous Track buttons.

Good bluetooth connection with my Droid X - The unit connects automatically with both BT phone and BT audio at the same time. (My wife's much-more-expensive Pioneer AVIC will not connect both phone and audio to her Incredible at the same time; she has to choose one or the other and go through the cumbersome process to do it.) I can play music on my phone and sound comes out of the Clarion instead of the phone and I can pause, skip tracks, control volume, etc with the Clarion. The BT Telephone part also works great and the sound is fine. The microphone is built into the unit. The Clarion easily accepted my Droid X phone book although it wouldn't transfer the contacts in my favorites but I think that is a problem with the phone and not the Clarion - I'm still working on it. It is not possible to add single numbers to the phone book. The Clarion phone book stores all the names in Last Name | First Name order which I don't like. Calls are not that easy to start from the Clarion unless it is redialing a recent call. Trying to direct dial from the radio while driving would be crazy because its way too complicated. However, incoming calls work perfectly (and mute the radio during the call) and I can make outgoing calls from the phone while it sits in the dock and then it's hands free speaker-phone over the Clarion. Overall I'm extremely happy with the bluetooth and this is another BIG reason I am happy with this unit.

Aux-In jack on the front - haven't used this yet but its good to have.

Double Din - Big two-line text thats easy to read while driving. The buttons are not all mashed together and the volume knob is big. It's easy to control the unit quickly and safely. I appreciate this after driving another vehicle with a single-din unit that had dozens of tiny buttons and practically unreadable text and button labels. However, I can't see the clock at the same time as anything else which is a negative - in other words I can see Artist and Track, or Station or whatever but if I want to see the clock it will be all I see. They should have left a spot where the clock can always be visible.

The FM sounds pretty good - better than the Sirius music stations I think. I can't compare the FM sensitivity to the factory radio because I took out the factory radio long ago...

Music sounds good enough with my BA speakers. Not outstanding, but good enough for me. In my younger days when I was more into music I would have demanded more and probably used an external amp and sub-woofer, etc (and also bought a more expensive brand just because of the name!) but nowadays I mostly listen to talk radio on Sirius. However, like I said, music sounds very acceptable if I don't crank it up way too loud. I actually removed my external Alpine amp at the same time I installed the Clarion. I don't feel like I need it.

The ability to change colors is very cool. Right now I have it on a custom yellow which looks real good.

The remote, which I don't use, has a mute button but the head unit does not. However it's easy to turn down quickly due to the huge volume knob.

I did test the CD part which was fine, but I probably won't be using that either.

There are three ipods in my house so I could test that feature but I just don't care enough to do it. I can use my Droid over bluetooth if I want to play portable music.

Bottom line is that I am very happy with the Clarion considering it's price and would certainly buy again if I needed another head unit. - Cd Player - Usb - Ipod'

Eau De Toilette - mens fragrance, mens cologne

I have tried numerous French & Italian Designer perfumes over the past twelve years. None of them aged as well as the good old CK One. CK One embodies both feminine and masculine tones, it is rather light, yet significant to the nose. It has an interesting character that is subtle and charming, people around you certainly realize and appreciate it. It is suitable for all seasons, and never disappoints you. Ck One by Calvin Klein for Men and Women, Eau De Toilette, 6.8 Ounce

I really do love this scent, but was VERY DISAPPOINTED! I put it on and within 5 minutes the scent was gone.....so later I saturated myself with it and within 15 minutes the scent was GONE..GONE..GONE!!

Do not waste your money on this one. It's got to be a fake....a counterfeit. You cannot get your money back on any perfumes either, Amazon won't let you return it so I wasted all that money. Just go to the department store, pay a little more and get the real thing!!

This product I received from Amazon was definitely not up to their high standards. Product was either very diluted or a very old product. I would never order cologne, after shave or any similar product by the mail, as you never know what you are getting. Amazon was very good about a complete customer refund. Amazon always takes care of their customers. I would still order other items from Amazon, they are truly a great customer pleaser.

Wow I smelled this cologne on the counter at JC Penny and I knew it was really good so i bought it. I had prom coming up just a couple days later and I decided this would be the perferct time to try my new fragrance. While dancing the girls would get up close to me just to smell it! So I will definately be buying this again!

>>>>not myself. I loved the scent on the test strip, in the magazines, and then I tried it on me. It's a very clean scent, but on me, it felt a bit too mannish. BUt it is a really great scent to try out at an inexpensive price. Plus, if you don't like it, someone in your life probably will.

I love this fragrance, I have been wearing it for years. This fragrance is for those ladies (like me) that totally love the smell of men's cologne and have always wanted to use a man's cologne but were afraid to actually wear a man's cologne. This scent strikes a perfect balance between a womens and man's cologne.

Kids Fishing - outdoor recreation, kids fishing

Okay, starting from the outside in:

The "tackle box" this comes in is useless (even if the latch hadn't been broken), I threw it away.

In the way of lures, there are a bunch of the usual cheap jigs and plastic worms that come with all these kits. If you've ever bought a tackle kit you've already got plenty of these. What you might not have are the two nice spoons and cute little spinner rig that are in here.

The selection of sinkers is excellent, with an assortment of split shot sinkers in three sizes plus a couple of sliding "bullet" sinkers I didn't have. The four floats are nice.

Most of the 137 pieces are hooks, of course. Unfortunately all of these are too small for anything but bait fish. They do come in a handy little container that will keep them from spilling all over my tackle box. There are also some small spinners and snaps that could be useful with very light tackle. The small pieces came in a little divided spin-top box that I'm holding on to.

The little hand held line is a joke as is the multi-purpose plastic tool. The stringer line will useful.

All in all, worth about what I paid for it. South Bend 137 Piece Deluxe Tackle Kit

For what I wanted and for what I paid, I got exactly that. The kit was complete and suited my requirements perfectly. There's enough of everything to set you up for an enjoyable fishing experience. The range of hook sizes is adequate and there's enough sinkers to go around. There's a few lures and a fly or two, just what you need to get started.

I actually got the "Pocket Size Fishing Survival Kit" with shipping it came to over $12.00. I found this at a local store and it is much better kit and you get free super saver shipping. This is a great kit with a lot of sinker, bobs, lures and so on. If using for an emergency kit you can throw the packaging out and use a zip lock bag.

I wish I would have found this kit first I would have bought it over the survival one and saved myself money and trouble.

These combo sets of gear are pretty easy to find around these parts. And for the most, not a bad deal. There is nothing to stop someone that is in the mind of setting some youngin' up for his first fishing trip from buying most or all of these items separately, but I seriously doubt you could do it for cheaper than what this kit is made up of for the price. Although its true that just about all these tackle kits that promise a whole lot of pieces end up being mostly made up of small stuff, its also true that in the world of fishing, (especially beginner fishing) you will end up needing a whole lot of that small stuff. To put it simply, this kit gives you one of the best broad set ups of beginner fishing gear, along with a lot of smaller items that one will end up losing much of anyway that I have come across for the price. Since a lot of things like hooks, split shot sinkers, and rubber worms are destined to end up tangled up in trees or lost to the briny deep in tangles, all these little items are pretty much needed in the quantities they offer. Also, even though the hooks and nothing else here is really designed for anything but small bait fish, its also true that this is no doubt a beginners set, mostly for kids I would say, that aren't exactly all that ready to take on "Jaws" anyway. I bought this set for one of my grand sons, along with a small tackle box and it all has come off and performed quite nicely on his first couple of fishing outings. (With the single exception of the floats offered, I suggest you buy a few more of those separately). I was very satisfied with the kit, and the tackle box I chose. ( a good quality little two tier Plano box. Link enclosed at the end of this review). Apparently a lot more satisfied than many other reviewers that bought a tackle box that was supposedly preloaded with tackle. A lot of the reviews I read on those either ended up being shipped without the gear, or the tackle that did arrive was very disappointing. Not so with this kit. This is a really nice little set of gear that is perfect for the beginner, comes with free shipping when bundled, and I highly recommend it right here on Amazon... Plano 2-Tray Tackle Box

This kit is not perfect by any means, but for the beginner and the price, it is way worth it. I needed a beginner kit and a line to keep fish on. This kit has almost everything you need to get started. The bobbers and really poor quality, as are the split shot. The lures and ruler and fish line and hooks, etc more than make up for that. If you need a kit to get started, I recommend it. Just don't expect it to be perfect.

This kit is fine for essentials but don't expect much more. Two of the bobbers didn't work and the eye's in the jigs either were completely sealed or weren't a complete hole. Just go to your local department store and pick up a set for the same price or less at equal to better quality.

I don't like giving negative reviews. However, truth be known - this is a pretty cheap item. Bought for a trip we were taking. Thought it would keep our tackle organized. The case cracked before we arrived and it continued to get worse...

I would buy a proper small tackle box and fill it with the equipment you need. - Outdoor Recreation - Tackle Box - Hooks - Kids Fishing'

Ipod Accessories - ipod speakers, portable speakers

I'm sure this review, as with all other negative reviews, is going to get a "this was not helpful" rating. Look, I get it.. the X-Mini II is an AWESOME product and nobody should to talk bad about it, right? At least hear me out first.. because I've been using these for almost a year and have owned 3 of them. I think that earns me the right to an honest negative review. And remember, most people review products shortly after they buy them.. I've actually spent a lot of time using them.

I absolutely loved mine when I first got it. I showed it to lots of friends and all my coworkers, many of which have since bought their own. It's an excellent little speaker. The sound quality is amazing for such a small package.. the build quality feels very solid. Sadly, it's what's inside that counts.. and what's inside is junk. I've owned 3 of these speakers and all 3 are now dead. Here's the series of events that led to this bad review:

X-Mini #1 - Bought my first one about 10 months ago on Amazon. Loved everything about it. One thing that really stood out (aside from excellent audio quality) was the build quality. Very solid construction. I liked it so much I bought another one for a family member, which we'll call X-Mini #2.

X-Mini #2 - Worked fine, but I noticed the build quality wasn't as good as the first one I bought. The once soft rubber-like audio cable was now stiff, cheap, shiny plastic. The power switch was now flimsy and didn't operate as solidly as my first one. The sound wasn't quite as good, and it was a tiny bit lighter weight. After about 1 month, I started having audio hiccups from it and had to contact the store (possibly power surges?). They sent me a replacement and let me keep this one. The replacement they sent me is X-Mini #3.

X-Mini #3 - Same lower-quality construction. By this point it was obvious that X-Mi had started to cheap out on the materials of the speaker. The once rock-solid speaker now feels like a cheap toy. About two weeks after owning this speaker, the battery stopped working. It no longer holds a charge and has to be plugged in via USB or a wall outlet in order to play sound. I'm not going to bother the company I bought this one from because they already sent me a free replacement.. now it's up to X-Mi.

Now I have 1 good speaker (my original), one defective one, and one with a dead battery, right? Wrong.

Back to X-Mini #1 - My beloved original, now, after 10 months of light use (maybe 3 hours a week), is dead. The battery is having the same issue as X-Mini #3. It will no longer play sound without being attached to external power.

I'm done with these things. I want to love it.. I really do.. and several months ago I would have given this thing 6 out of 5 stars if it were possible. I can no longer do that. They simply don't last. I'm extremely disappointed with X-Mi for cheaping out on materials and have sent them an email explaining this.

If you've been able to snag one that lasts longer than a year, consider yourself lucky. I envy you. X-Mini II Capsule Speaker (Black)

I bought this and the iHome rechargeable mini-speaker at the same time. The iHome mini-speaker is much louder, but the sound quality of the X-Mini II is better for music, at least in my opinion. You get more of the high and low tones with the X-Mini II, and I am surprised that it does not have a tinny sound. The iHome speaker is good for movies or if you need a loud but small speaker for parties. The X-Mini II is slightly larger than the iHome speaker, but not much. I recommend the X-Mini II for listening to music, and it works really well with my netbook or with an mp3 player.

Even though the internal speakers on my Sony Vaio notebook computer are decent, I sometimes need a little more volume and clarity. When the need arises, I usually whip out the ear-buds. But recently, I've been wanting to play some tunes on my computer at work where it's not convenient to wear ear-buds. Hence, the "need" for one of these portable mini-speakers.

After reading the reviews on portable notebook/iPod/iPhone speakers, I narrowed my choice down to 3 products and ordered all 3. I thought that I would choose the best one, send the others back, and review them at the same time. So....my 3 choices were the X-Mini II Capsule Speaker, the iHome iHM60 Rechargeable Mini Speakers for iPod (Blue), and the Altec Lansing iM-237 Orbit Ultraportable Speaker for MP3 Players (Silver).

I tested all 3 speakers with my Sony Vaio notebook, my iPhone 3Gs, and my 60-gig iPod. All 3 speakers worked with all 3 devices, and the rating results were comparable.

One more thing: although 2 of the 3 speakers have USB charging cables, none of them are USB devices. The USB only charges the speaker; the sound is controlled via the headphone-out controls.

1) X-Mini II Capsule Speaker ---- This speaker is the most compact. I like the design, the lines, the feel, and the size. It just feels right. It looks like a little pill/capsule, and then springs open to reveal bellows that enhance the bass. The sound is focused and clear, but ranks #3 in loudness and bass quality. It is the only speaker of the 3 that I tested that has a volume control, but I really don't see the need for a volume control when the speaker is only 6 inches away from the sound source. It has a built-in speaker cord for when you want to run it on the internal rechargeable battery. There's also a combined USB charging/speaker cable....1 plug inserts into your computer USB port to charge the speaker battery, and the 2nd plug goes to the headphone-out on your computer (or iPod). So, if your speaker battery dies, just plug the 2 plugs into the computer and you're back up and running. If you're using the speaker to listen to your iPod or iPhone, you are out of luck if the speaker battery dies, unless you have a USB power source nearby. Unfortunately, both the attached speaker cable and the combined USB charging/speaker cable are very flimsy. It also has a speaker-out jack, which allows you to daisy-chain speakers together. Not really a huge selling point, since people tend to buy these speakers because they are small and compact...so who wants to carry 2 with them? But I suppose it does allow for more flexibiity, athough daisy-chaining 2-3 of these little guys together just doesn't make good financial sense. So, just like the volume control, the speaker-out jack is a non-issue to me. Also comes with a little carrying bag made of felt material.

Pros --- Looks and feels right. Small/compact. Decent sound, considering it's size. Rechargeable battery. Option of using built-in cable or combined USB charging/speaker cable.

Cons --- Worst performance in terms of loudness and bass (but still not bad). Flimsy cables.

2) iHome iHM60 Rechargeable Mini Speakers for iPod (Blue) ---- This speaker is very similar to the X-Mini II above. The major differences: it's larger than the X-Mini and doesn't look as "polished". It doesn't have a volume control, but who needs one anyway? It doesn't have a built-in cable....it only has a USB charging/speaker cable....but it's MUCH sturdier than the cable on the X-Mini. The sound is louder and fuller, with more pronounced bass.....probably because the diameter is bigger and the bellows are longer. Comes with a medium-heavy duty black carrying bag, which is more substantial than the felt used for the X-Mini II bag. Also has a speaker-out jack, just like the X-Mini II, for daisy-chaining speakers together.

Pros --- Ranks #2 in loudness and bass. Small/compact. Rechargeable battery. Sturdy cable. Nicer carrying bag. $10 cheaper than the X-Mini.

Cons --- Less "polished" look/feel. Not as small as the X-Mini. No built-in speaker cable, so you MUST use the more bulky USB charging/speaker cable.

3) Altec Lansing iM-237 Orbit Ultraportable Speaker for MP3 Players (Silver) --- This speaker is the largest, but weighs about the same as the IHome. It has NO USB charging cable....just a built-in speaker cable. It ONLY runs on 3 AAA batteries. I haven't used it long enough to test the battery life. The carrying case is a deluxe zippered case that really protects the speaker. It also includes a lanyard for the speaker and a little caribiner clip for the case. The sound clearly out-classes the other 2 in loudness, clarity, and bass.

Pros --- Best sound of the 3. Uses 3 AAA batteries (no rechargeable battery to die on you). Built-in speaker cable. Very nice carrying case.

Cons --- Largest of the 3. Uses 3 AAA batteries (rechargeable battery is convenient, but they often die.) Flimsy built-in speaker cable.

So.....which one am I keeping? That's a good question. I'm DEFINITELY returning the X-Mini II. It performed the worst of the 3, it has flimsy cables, and it costs as much as the Altec. Although the iHome requires that you use the bulkier combo-cord, it sounds better and costs $10 less than the X-Mini II. No-brainer.

How about the Altec? It sounds the best, but has some limitations. I might keep BOTH the Altec and the iHome. But I'm DEFINITELY keeping the iHome, which is the all-around winner in this speaker shoot-out when you compare sound, price, and features.

A couple more remarks. The iHome packaging is maddening. The speaker is wire-tied into the package, making it extremely difficult to remove. I ended up essentially destroying the packaging in order to remove the speaker. But perhaps iHome did that on purpose, so as to discourage returns. Very annoying, but not a deal-breaker. Also, the iHome's cable has a hard plastic clip attached that is supposed to be used as a wire-tie. I have very good manual dexterity, but I was unable to fold the cable back up and clip it back together. Nice try, iHome, but the velcro cable-tie of the X-Mini II is a much better design.....too bad they decided to include such a flimsy cable.

Hunting Crossbow - bolt, archery

As soon as I got these in the mail I swapped the 125 gr field points to 125 gr Slik tips, took 'em outside, and put all 6 inside a 4 inch hole at 30 yards.... if I had a longer range, I'm sure they'd hold pattern out to 60 yards. No problems whatsoever, no 'flyers', very consistant, and about $10 less than at Bass Pro Shops with the free shipping!!! Recommend - 7 port usb 2 hub, computer accessories

I purchased 2 of these and love the design. I was trying to find hubs that had the ports on the front with no wires from the back. I found that hard to find until these.

The USB cable is hard wired into the side. The AC is plugged into the same side and that can be disconnected. It is triangular shaped and comes with mounts to stick on a surface. I have both mounted under my studio desk with the ports faced in the back. I had to use superglue as the adhesive mounts kept coming off...probably had to do with the surface of the desk. Not a problem at all for me.

Keeps everything organized and easily accessible. Quality build and does not feel cheap. 2 usb ports are spaced out further to allow access to bulkier usb products.

UPDATED JUNE 1ST 2009

Lately I noticed my PC would hang when booted. I would have to disconnect the hubs. Once I did that the PC would boot. I tried to narrow it down to which USB device was causing the hang and no luck.

A couple days later I wondered about unplugging the AC from the hubs to see if that would help. So I disconnected them from the outlet and plugged back in...no more hang.

It's like it had to be reset or something.

Both USB ports are working like they should. I have 14 usb devices hooked up and all are working.

UPDATED JANUARY 27TH 2011

I purchased a new pc and switched the hubs over. I am now running Windows 7 and no problems at all. Macally TRIHUB7 Mini 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub with AC Adapter (Black)

I highly recommend this product. I can't stand the bright blue lights and big show you see with other usb hubs. This product is compact, discrete, elegant, and the usb ports are easily accessible--exactly what I was looking for in a usb hub.

I was reluctant to buy this product because it didn't have any reviews, but I'm definitely happy I made the purchase and highly recommend it to others.

It's hard to say very much about such a utilitarian item such as a USB hub, but let me try. I am using this Macally hub with my MacBook and MacBook Pro computers (though as with all hubs and most USB devices, it is fully compatible with PCs, I recently used this hub with my Mom's PC with full success). I withhold the final 'star' only because I only give 5-star ratings to items that are revolutionary and extraordinary. This hub is excellent, and highly recommended.

*Construction quality and materials are first rate. Lightweight, but solid. ABS plastic is excellent, durable, scratch and crack resistant. Cabling is good quality, silicone rubber. Good quality switching-type wall-wart PS.

*Devices plug in and detach positively and securely, and do not work themselves loose as in some hubs. Connectors appear to be made for the long haul.

*Low-profile, triangular design attractive and functional. Hub attaches to desk or side of notebook computer securely, and looks like part of the original design of the computer. You can use the manufacturer supplied adhesive, shock-absorbing pads, or velcro attachments (self supplied

*Operation with full 7 devices attached (two external HDDs, iPod, two USB flash drives, digital camera, and Flip video camera) works without a hitch. Hub supplies total of 2A from its external power supply. While that is probably not enough to run all seven devices, you never simultaneously use all at once anyway (USB is a serial interface, so even with microsecond level switching, you use each device in a CPU/USB bus assigned queue anyway, even when using the computers internal USB jacks, there is usually only one USB bus). I noticed no delays over and above what I see when I have multiple devices directly attached to Macs. I left everything plugged in for about two days, through two reboots (done after installing application updates), and worked with iTunes/iPod intensively, as well as transferring files from cameras to machine, edited them, transferred them to flash drives. In fact I tried everything I could think of to stress the USB hub and the computer's USB bus, setting up a number of tasks for different devices, transferring files among devices and computer. No problems encountered of any sort.

*Works well on its own as a charger. Charges my iPod Video faster than Mac's USB bus (max 500mA, that's the USB standard) or even aftermarket 1A USB charger. iPod gets a little warm during charging, but not hot, and reduces charge time from flat by over an hour over 1A charger and more than 2 over machine.

*Works just fine without power supply connected. This wont work with multiple high current devices connected, or multiple devices in charge mode, but for a fully charged iPod, an external HDD, a USB flash drive, and an SD card via USB adaptor, it worked well. YMMV, and probably will, dependent on the current demands of what you connect. Seven flash drives will be fine, seven external HDDs will clearly not.

Of USB hubs (powered or not) available on Amazon in March 2010, this is one of the very best. Of the 4 or 5 I have owned this is second only to another Macally I had that was mostly metal in construction, and looked like it came with the MacBook I used it with. Strongly recommended! Seven ports may seem orverboard, but think ahead to all the devices you may acquire later. Macally makes also a 4 port version of this hub that is identical in all other respects, if smaller size is essential (this 7 port model is about 5" by 1") - 7-port Usb Hub - 7 Port Usb 2 Hub - 7 Port Usb Hub - Computer Accessories'
