Emergency Light - weather radio, emergency kit

It picks up AM/FM channels strong and clear, has a good volume and sound for its size, and has several methods of charging the internal AAA NIMH batteries (which are soldered together into one plastic-wrapped package and uses a 2-prong plug, so not quite easily replaced if the batteries go bad - but NIMH are usually very good.)

The crank handle is solid, and does not feel like it will break easily (unlike other crank-powered radios!) The unit has a rugged, well-built feel to it.

I was not able to pick up the Weather Band with this radio, which seemed odd, as I can pick up WB with other devices quite easily. I am going to email the manufacturer and report it as a malfunction and see what response I get, hopefully they replace the unit with a functioning one. I'll revise my review then.

The 3-led flashlight is very bright and more than adequate. Overall I like this radio. I just hope the WB problem is this unit and not an overall design failure.

Update: Reply from the company was exceptionally fast (within a few hours), and their website indicates they pay return/exchange shipping.

[...]

Update2: Next day, was sent a UPS return-shipping label so no cost to me for the return, and at the same time a new radio was sent out to me.

I expect the new radio to be 100% functional, as I was assured it was tested before shipping.

I'm very pleased and impressed with the high level of service this company has shown toward standing behind their product, and the product itself is very high quality for the low price! Well worth the $20 I spent on it.

[...]

Update3: New unit was received quickly and performs much better on the weather band. It is sensitive to the noise coming from the computer but not so bad that I can't tune the station with the antenna and get a good signal. A few feet away from the noise source, the radio is crystal clear. I assume the original unit had some cross-over noise-filtering issues.

Tech support at Ambient Weather was exceptional.

I highly recommend this radio as an emergency radio/light/usb power supply. Ambient Weather WR-088 Emergency Solar Hand Crank AM/FM/NOAA Weather Radio, Flashlight, Cell Phone Charger (Red) with Cables

I have been looking for a while for an emergency small radio that I could hand crank. I wanted it small enough that I could throw in a back pack, not too heavy and not too cumbersome. Price is of course very important. I was really surprised when I found this Ambient on amazon for under 20 bucks. First let me be honest I have only used it a few times in my home and not in the field but I am totally impressed. It is very compact, has a rubberized plastic body and it works great. The reception is very good with and without the antenna extended. Just remember this thing has a small speaker so don't expect Bose sound quality, it is for emergencies. The solar panel charges the phone sitting in a window. I have it plugged into a USB AC adapter right now. It has a very good little flash light and the final piece is that it will charge my cell phone. I plugged into my LG and it started charging my phone without me cranking it. The USB cable is capable of accepting other cell charging plugs so if the two included in the box don't fit your phone then just head on down to Radio Shack and buy one and of course you can also buy one on amazon. This an excellent radio for any use. Throw it your back pack, in the trunk of your car, take it to the beach, or use it for your emergency pack. What ever this is a great radio for 20 bucks. I am probably going to buy one for my wife and put it her trunk for emergencies. I would buy it before they get wise what a great deal this is and increase the price.

I had a lot of time for self reflection during the Groundhogs' Day blizzard. I had a hand-crank flashlight to get me through - but it pales in comparison to this device.

Solid and bright flashlight. Decent radio. USB (regular and mini) jacks in the back and the bonus of solar panels.

Doesn't take much effort to get power for the light and radio - you will, however, will have to work it a bit to charge your phone.

Great value for the price.

The product had strong reviews which is why I purchased this item.

The first day I received this radio I exercised it's functionality AM and FM radio worked fine, however the weather band had no reception, and the top ot the telescoping pulled out.

Item was returned and I am now in search of a compact yet rugged emergency radio.

Edited on 02 Aug 11 due to seller feedback (see comments)

I give Two ( edited from: ONE) stars as the flashlight is good & hand crank works well to charge and it is a good design IDEA and external construction. But that is limit to "good" characteristics.

Also, increasing rating due to Ambient Weather feedback and my respect for a vendor who monitors ratings and comments made here.

Cons:

* Unit does NOT tune to any of three NOAA weather stations other two radios will pick up in the house, not even outside on clear night. Therefore, TOTALLY useless as a "weather" radio.

* Can only pick up 2 of 5 AM stations other radios will receive even when outdoors and then only poorly.

* FM reception seems only marginal also.

* Tuner wheel is much too hard to turn to get good lock on a station without a lot of fiddling with it.

* Sound quality is extremely poor even for a small radio and speaker.

Returning for credit and will order another brand for my use outside and on trips.

Edit addition:

-You can find MUCH cheaper hand crank back-up flashlights & USB charger, which is all the unit I received is good for and I don't even have a mp3/mp4 or other device of that type to charge & my cell phone is always charged as my usage is only 5 to 20 min. per month (some months 0, yes ZERO min.

Inflatable Kayaks - sea eagle, kayak

I tried out the 330 deluxe for the first time today and was impressed. I went to a local lake and set up on the beach. No one had a clue as I walked up with this bag what I was up to, as they were swimming. 7 or 8 minutes later, a kayak magically appears! That was fun in itself. It was easy to set up with the foot pump. It took 35 to 40 pumps to fill each of the 3 chambers, and no air escapes from the one way valves AT ALL. Then it's just a couple of pumps each for the spray shields, and 4 to 5 pumps for each of the 2 seat chambers, also with one way valves, and your ready to fish. I test drove in the shallows for 3 or 4 minutes to get a feel for the kayak, which was the first time for me in any kayak, and I was off to the nearest patch of lilly pads, and within 10 minutes caught my first pickerel, and then bass out of my new sea eagle. Sure beats car topping a canoe. Then after 2 hrs., back to the beach, unscrew the valves, roll it up like a sleeping bag, put it in the duffle, and back in the pick-up. The deluxe seats are extremely confortable, very firm and support your back better than most office chairs, let alone canoe seats.

This is a great way to fish any where you please, just on a whim. With no planning. Thats the only way to fish.

Sincerely, Mark S Sea Eagle 330 Inflatable Kayak with Deluxe Package

I cannot say enough good things about this kayak. I have owned mine since 2000 when I purchased it while living in Atlanta, GA. Inflation is simple, the bag properly stores everything you need, and the fit and finish of the boat are superb. In its time I have taken my Sea Eagle on calm lakes and rivers in the south numerous times without incident, but I have also tested it a fair amount. We have run it on Section III of the Chattooga in SC including Bull Sluice and also on the Nantahala including the Falls. While this is not the most demanding whitewater out there it is class II and III and I want to back up the mfr. claims that this boat can handle this water. We have also had it in the Atlantic Ocean numerous times and it's a ton of fun to ride waves and crash if you're not careful. We now live in Indianapolis and take it on the White River during the warm months and it is holding up just fine. I can recommend that if you are interested in this boat to look into alternative paddles, as my personal kayak paddle does a much better job for me than the included paddles. We also installed the skeg on the underside of the boat and have found that this improves the yaw of the boat considerably, although it is not a make or break addition. I hope this review helps anyone considering investing in one of these boats. Enjoy the water!

Got one of these and tried it down Stanislaus River (Calif) with my son. The raft actually did pretty well in a Class 1-2 river. The built-in skegs (2 of them) helps to stabilize the boat. I have 2 complaints about the supplied inflatable seats. First of all, they have the pool toy inflation valves (not one way Boston valves) so it's a real struggle to inflate them . Secondly, the seats can hardly provide any back support. Another thing about this kayak is that it can barely fit 2 people--in my case, me (5'7") and my 10 year old son and we already feel pretty crammed. There is no way to fit 2 adults weighing 500 lbs.

1. The boat is much heavier than advertised. Amazon says 29 lbs shipping weight. Sea Eagle officially says 26 lbs. I put it on a scale with all parts (boat, paddles, pump) inside the duffle bag and it's 38 lbs. This makes it very difficult to backpack or hike in to locations not accessible via car (which was my purpose in purchasing).

2. The boat is perfect for certain purposes: floating in calm lakes, streams, etc. Our test run was on the choppy Chesapeake bay in 1 ft waves and 20 mph winds. It handled adequately. In such conditions, the boat is difficult to point, but it's really not meant for this.

2. It fits 2 people and gear for an outing comfortably.

3. The seats require full inflation and good posture. The seat backs are fairly useless.

4. Inflation and deflation is very easy. It takes appx. 10 minutes to put together and take apart.

5. The material is quite strong. You don't really have to worry about rips and tears unless you're running serious rapids -- which you shouldn't be doing anyways in this boat.

6. Comes with a patch kit.

Overall, a solid little boat for relaxed, fun purposes. If you want to do any serious whitewater, you should look elsewhere.

This is our first inflatable kayak. It is quick to inflate, takes less than 10 minutes, & quicker to pack up. Seats & spray guards are a little tricky because of the valves though, you have to pinch it at the base & plug it quickly, but otherwise it's a cinch! We fit fine going tandem, my husband's 6' & I'm 5'5", he likes it better without the rear seat. We've taken the kayak out 8 x so far, mostly to Huntington Harbor & Anaheim Bay. We've gotten good at our synchronicity & can go pretty fast when we want to! We're in Southern California so no rivers nearby but are looking forward to catching some waves in the summer. Feels very durable, but make sure you screw the Boston valves on tightly. The 2nd time we took it out, we didn't realize it right away but the right side was deflating, we were about a 1/2 mile out when paddling & keeping it straight had seemed to get harder & harder, I thought we were in a current or something until I noticed the fold on the right side. We turned around to head back but it was very hard to paddle fighting with the strong pull to the right, but we made it & we're alive to laugh about it now! My fault, I didn't tighten it well enough. Lesson learned. Have fun!

6/4/10 Update, took my 50 lb Aussie Shepherd, unclipped claws & all, on a 2 hour tour in the harbor. Just laid a towel on a board, which she didn't stay on. She was all over the place, she's pretty excitable & not a water dog. Not a single mark or scratch on the kayak though!

10/01/10 Got another SE 330, they changed the pinch valves to Boston valves. Excellent improvement!

8/11 Took these to Kern River for whitewater, extreme thrills! Up to class 3 rapids from upper Powerhouse to Lake Isabella. Wear good life jackets & tie down your seats. Ocean kayaking is great, relaxing once you get past the waves. You can get pretty close to dolphins. Catching waves is fun but I always seem to end up sideways. I still take my dog kayaking in the harbor, she absolutely loves it & can't wait to hop in! I don't bother putting anything on the floor anymore. Overall I've probably had over 100 uses by now & had 2 small repairs, definitely got my monies worth! - Kayak - Boat - Inflatable Kayak - Sea Eagle'

white board - white board

I've owned this product now for about 2 months. So far it has worked great. I've been using the standard Expo dry erase markers and they seem to erase easily without ghosting or other non-erasable marks. The overall construction of it seems pretty solid. The marker holder could be better constructed (wider and not as flimsy), but does serve its purpose fairly well. The board came with stuff to hang it that worked fine. Overall I am pretty satisfied. The box it came in was quite large, and the board itself was boxed in a more form-fitting box within that box. I did not observe any damage to it. If you want a pretty cheap, and good quality dry-erase board of this size, this is a great option. Board Dudes 24"x36" Aluminum Framed Non-Magnetic Dry Erase Board (17253UA-1)

I am currently a college student. One day I had an idea that I should buy a white board to help me study for my science classes (specifically, organic chemistry). I stumbled upon this one on Amazon and decided to purchase it since it is relatively cheap. The box it came in was pretty big, but the board itself was placed into a smaller tight fitting box inside. The board is pristine and clean. I have been using it for a month now and it is still in excellent condition. Oh, and I managed to score really high in my organic chemistry midterm with the help of this thing :).

Highly recommend.

I bought this whiteboard with the intention of writing reminders/msges to myself on a daily basis. I also do a math problem or two on here when I'm trying to help my gf who is studying finance. It has been an awesome tool for me. Erases clean, hangs up easily, and isn't an eyesore, but works well in my apartment. THis is great for someone who wants a larger size msg board for their home. For a teacher, it might be a little small, but all other purposes it serves well. Doesn't come with markers so buy your own. also, i don' t thing magnets work on it, if that's what you are into, but you can totally put sticky notes on it if you wanted.

I'm always thinking of something, and my desk used to be cluttered with countless sticky notes and 3x5 cards with half-baked ideas on them. After awhile I figured there must be another solution, so I grabbed this white board. It has been an incredible benefit. All of my half-baked ideas now have new place to go, on the dry erase board, where I can embellish them every time I walk by.

A couple of friends and I run a podcast, and my fiance and I have a video series for one of our websites, and this board gets extensive use for jotting down notes and ideas for those projects. It's a great way to expand your brains creative arena.

The tray for the pens aren't secured to the board very well. If you bump it slightly the tray will fall off. I'm not sure if others have experienced this but I'm not totally satisfied with it.

Otherwise, it is a pretty standard whiteboard. You get what you pay for, I guess.

I got this board to use at home, so very basic one is fine with me as long as it does not break too soon. But when I received it, the frame was warped. See pictures. There are a few boards at less price, and even come with free markers, eraser and magnets... but this one is at higher price and no free accessories. I certainly had higher hope for this board. Considering I paid additional for markers and erasers, this warped board is disappointing. It does not worth the hassle to return, I kept it.

I was excited to purchase this (bought in my local brick'n'mortar store) at a sensible price. Mounted the board on a Monday, and by the following Thursday it had warped significantly. It no longer hangs flat against the wall (one corner is raised from the wall almost 2 inches). Admittedly, temperatures/humidity in my home office have fluctuated a lot over the last week (although other wall items were fine)

So, Pros:

- Cost

- Magnetic + Whiteboard is great

- includes a marker tray

- Includes mounting h/w

Cons:

- Material must be prone to warping

- Included marker tray is somewhat flimsy (but works)

I'll try some additional mounting brackets this weekend to secure this more tightly against the wall; perhaps it will revert to its flat shape with some added weight over the weekend.

I use several hundred dollar whiteboards on a daily basis and have to say this one holds its own.

This board is well constructed, although was not designed to take a beating. It writes and erases with the best of them, but will start to leave ghost lines if you leave writing up for longer than a couple of weeks (as any dry erase board will). I made the mistake of doing this and trying to clean it with a vinegar based cleaning solution (whoops). If you are wondering how to turn a dry erase into a wet erase, that would be how.

Assuming you plan to hang this up and use it as a dry erase board I would highly recommend (don't let the low price scare you off). If you are looking for this board to be portable and take dings on a regular basis you may want to look around for something slightly more sturdy. - White Board'

Not Recommended - not recommended, carpet runner

The vinyl carpet protector is not as heavy as I had hoped it would be. My wife and I share a home with our daughter and two children. We occupy the large room upstairs which has a sofa in it that we use often to watch TV. The area in front of the sofa became dirty quickly, so I purchased the protector to keep that area clean. It does help with that, but it does not lay flat and grab the carpet well. I am often straightening it out. For the price, it is adequate but not exceptional. The delivery time of the item was very good. Superior American 5300069 27x6' Vinyl Carpet Protector

It does the job. Heavy-duty, holding up very well. Not quite "clear" as advertised. There is a definite blue cast to them...but it's not obnoxious. I would have preferred truly CLEAR plastic, though, and think the add should admit that there is a slight color to the runners. Still, I'm glad I got it. It's working well for the purpose intended.

The Superior American 5300069 (27" x 6') vinyl carpet protector is a good deal if you purchase one for less than $10. It works well on lightly travelled carpets. However, the protector is also thin and it tends to curl up at the edges quite for a while after its been laid down. So, you'll need to find a way to handle the curls, particularly on the corners of the protector. Again, this is not a protector for heavilly travelled areas of your home: It's just too thin, making it prone to jostle out of position if traversed upon too much. However, for lightly travelled areas, it serves as a decent carpet protector for the price.

This product I received today, and I am using it for under the barstools, where the counter is in the dining room, to protect the carpet from food. So, far the only issue I have encountered is that it does not want to lay flat on one side, and I often step on the sharp part, so I am thinking about cutting off that side, maybe cutting that little piece off will help. Right now, my husband just stepped on it, as I was typing this lol. So, he placed a barstool on the end to try and flatten it, if that helps I will let you know. But, overall the product is great, and shipping was fast. Also, it is a great price! - Carpet Runner - Not Recommended'

12v Cigarette Lighter Charger - aspire one, acer aspire one

Product arrived in about a week. I plugged it in while driving to top off my ZA3 and it worked great...for about two hours.

Fortunately, I was sitting right there so I smelled it when it started smoking - so it didn't burn down my truck or anything exciting like that. Looks like maybe the internal fuse did NOT blow when the electronics started to fry. Now it has a melted spot on the side and I'm not about to plug it in to see if it still works or not.

I've had it about a week and I've sent a contact email to eForCity through the Amazon contact system. We'll see what happens. I'm not going to be very happy if I end up having to spend money to ship a $10 item back for a replacement. If I get good service, then I'll edit this review and say so. If I don't get good service then I'll do the same.

EDIT: Well I got a response...sort of. What I got was an email with a tracking number showing that the company had shipped another unit. No charge, no fuss, no bother and nothing was said about returning the burnt out unit. I sent the complaint message just before Memorial day, and the email with the tracking number of the new unit showed up just after Memorial day. That was pretty quick. At this point, I have NO complaints about the service.

If the replacement lasts a while then I'll be happy with that.

EDIT: So I got the replacement and it worked for quite a while, then it quit. I took my multimeter and stuck the tips of the probes to the openings on the back of the fuse and it was blown (no continuity). You can't reach the fuse with fingers, so I got a pair of big tweezers and tried to pull it out and it wouldn't come out. So I tried forceps...still nogo. So I tried small needle-nose pliers and it still wouldn't come out. Finally I gave up and took it apart (there is a screw under the label and then it just pops apart. Well...the fuse is soldered to the circuit board and is not replaceable.

Screw it...I tossed #2 in the junk drawer with #1 and I'm not even going to try to deal with the vendor to get any satisfaction. I guess if a Chinese product lasts a couple of months we're supposed to act like we got our money's worth.

There are other car chargers on Amazon for a few bucks more. I'll be ordering one of those instead of messing with trying to get this POS replaced.

Verdict: I recommend that you NOT buy this.

EDIT: What I finally ended up with is a beefier unit that I found from a vendor on that site with "bay" in the name. It was 18 bucks w/free shipping and has higher ratings than the unit here. Supposedly rated up to 90w, which considering the power supply that came with my ZA3 is only rated at 30w should be plenty. Input: DC 10v-15v 10a max. Output: 19v 4.7a continuous. Model: YD190-474. Vendor is dub-dub-dub dot sibusa dot com.

It charges my ZA3 faster than the unit I bought here (yea, I know - it shouldn't, but it does), and barely even gets warm. The two other units both got really hot. Car Charger for Acer Aspire One

Plug it in, turn on the laptop, done! It does everything the OEM power brick does, but through a cigarette lighter.

I checked the output voltage of this thing, and it's right at 18 volts. The OEM power brick output is 19 volts. Close enough!

The cigarette lighter side gets slightly warm while it has a load on it (charging the battery while the machine is powered on), but I wouldn't consider it any kind of hazard. It doesn't get anywhere near as warm as the OEM power brick does.

It just plain works like it is supposed to. Enough said.

It works just as expected, charging my Aspire One just as quickly as the standard adapter can. It does get warm, but not alarmingly hot. I only have one bone with this charger: the adapter tip feels very weak, with minimal plastic molding around the barrel tip.

I purchased this for my Acer Aspire One. It arrived quickly but there was a problem with the product. The center (Positive) push pin and one of the side (Negative) springs were dislodged. I had to pry it open, reset the pin and both springs. It's cheaper and easier than sending it back. The output is 20 volts DC which is the correct voltage for the netbook.

The seller shipped it in an expedient manor but whoever assembled it in China must have been having an off day. That's why I only gave it 3 stars.

It works great on my netbook. It runs suppriseingly cool compaired to the 110V power suupply. A very minor dissappointment, it does not provide enough power for my large old Acer notebook, but I never travel with the big notebook anyway as the netbook is so much more convient to carry.

The charger works fine. It's a great value for the money. I really have no complaints about it. It seems to be well manufactured. I'm surprised that the product is not available in any stores locally. If it were, I would imagine it would sell with every Netbook sold. The vendor got the item shipped promptly. I have no issues with them either. All in all... I'm happy. - Cigarette Ligher Charger - Acer Aspire One - Car Adapter - Aspire One'

Texas Chainsaw Massacre - leatherface, classics

First, the movie. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is probably one of the scariest movies ever made. It was unique for its time, and there's still nothing quite like it today. The plot doesn't sound like much- 2 women and 3 men make a drive to rural Texas to check out a graveyard that has been 'defiled', and to also relax and enjoy themselves. This last part of their vacation plan doesn't go real smoothly, as they make the mistake of wandering into an area where an insane, backwoods, inbred, cannibalistic sociopathic family live. Things get more and more horrifying from there.I've heard people complain this movie isn't scary and not gory enough. As far as the gore, it is fairly low-key by today's standards (though I'm sure my mother wouldn't want to watch it, and it couldn't be shown un-cut on regular network TV). There's not a lot of blood till the end of the movie, but the acting is so good, and the screams of the victims so wrenching, your imagination fills in the rest and it actually is painful to watch. I will agree that the movie is kind of slow to get started- I admit the first time I saw it as a teenager I was getting impatient for some action. However, the last half of the movie more than makes up for it.But if you think this movie isn't scary, I seriously doubt you've watched alone, at home, at night, with all the lights off. The first time I saw it was in the daytime, and it still made my hair stand on end. When I got the Special Edition DVD I unwisely watched it after midnight with the lights off. I couldn't sleep until the sun came up. The opening scene of the rotting corpse in the cemetery wired to a headstone alone made my skin crawl. The scene where Pam first discovers Leatherface's room, with the furniture made of bones and the chickens in bird-cages, gets scarier each time I see it. The last 20 minutes, at the dinner table, has to be one of the most grueling and realistic scenes to sit through ever made. The final few images--well, over 10 years went by between the last time I saw the movie and the time I watched it on DVD a few weeks ago, and I *still* could remember those shots so vividly it was like I saw it yesterday. The DVD is incredible-the transfer is so crisp that it seems like the movie was filmed last year instead of in the early 70's. Since I'd only seen it on "pan & scan" VHS, I never really appreciated how beautiful some shots of the rural setting are, and also how well-thought out and carefully put together most of the cinematography is. Breathtaking, actually. Until the commentary pointed it out, I never realized how perfect and effective the long, continuous shot of Pam hesitantly getting up off the porch swing and slowly walking to the screen door is. This movie does not look at all amateurish, even though it was made on an extremely low budget. The DVD is packed with cool and interesting special features. First, the commentary by Tobe Hooper, Gunnar Hansen aka Leatherface, and director of photography Daniel Pearl is fascinating. There's lots of subtle but powerful elements in the movie I missed till now-for instance, the lack of almost any score or soundtrack that gives it a documentary feel, making it that much more disturbing. Hardcore fans of this movie know already this was NOT an easy shoot by any standards, but their accounts of how much energy and work it took to get certain things right, not to mention the really tortuous things many of the actors went through...well, if any actor deserves to be paid millions for a movie, this cast certainly earned it. The dinner scene was the most horrendous- they could only do one take, it went on for 20+ hours, and this was in 110 degree heat with no air conditioning. Gunnar Hansen said that by the end, he was so out of it he started to think he wasn't acting. Kind of gives the tag line "Who will survive and what will be left of them?" a whole new meaning. There's also some deleted and alternate scenes, including some "lost footage" never available before. With many of them, you can read the script excerpt of the scene first. There's a hilarious blooper reel-the quality isn't that great, but you'll laugh your butt off. There's lots of production notes and stills, along with shots of rare publicity material. A couple scenes are broken down shot by shot, with Hooper explaining why he made the directing and editing choices he did. There's even more, I just don't have room for it all. The menu is also pretty great. I highly recommend the Special Edition to anyone who is a fan of TCM. You'll be able to spend hours enjoying it, and they couldn't have done a better job. My recommendation (for what it's worth) is to get this one fast, because it would be a shame if it went out of print and so many people missed this wonderful collector's edition. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

As a massive horror fan from the UK (where this film is banned) I had to wait many years to see this film, and after all the hype and expectations which I had built up I was half expecting to be dissapointed when i finally watched it...how wrong could I be? This film had me gripped instantly. The film builds up suspense like no other and when the murders do actually happen they are not ruined, like many other horrors, by almost comical deaths, they are nasty! This film is gritty and raw, with documentary like visuals which only add further to the sense of fear which you can almost smell. The acting is brilliant, its laid back yet energetic at the same time. Never have I seen fear portrayed as realistically as Marilyn Burns haunting display in this movie (but then again I never looked at myself in the mirror while watching the film). All of the factors in this film mix to make an evil couldron of depravity, that'll make you too afraid to look but even more scared when you close your eyes. This film is the freakiest i've ever seen and to say i enjoyed it seems kind'a sick as the killings are so realistic and depraved, but there's no denying it, I loved it. - Chainsaw - Classics - Leatherface - Cult Movie'

Active Skirts

So disappointed! The skirt is very cute. The length is perfect. But the shorts ride up. And when I say ride up, I mean you don't even have to move. They ride up when you put them on, even before you take your first step. So buyer beware. The shorts are not compression shorts, and they do not stay put. And while I am returning them and didn't try running in them, I can almost guarantee the inner thigh seams would rub and maybe chafe, if you tried to do a long distance. For running, stick with Skirt Sports. I'm giving the skirt 3 stars because, if you don't care about shorts riding up, the skirt itself is super cute, super flattering, and super comfy. Just won't work for my purposes. FYI: Based on Zappos reviews, I ordered a large; I'm 5'6", approx. 145 lbs. The fit was good, if not a tiny bit loose. Sugoi Women's Moxie Skirt, Black, Small'

I ordered two of these two and half years ago and loved them after a friend had a positive experience. This year I about four of the same suit, different colors. After having the pants hemmed, I am wearing what look like tailored suits. I have paid $800 for tailored suits (I know, not the highest end, but I am a value shopper) and they never looked this nice. Just wore one of these to a 45 minute business meeting and secured a multimillion dollar deal. Sweet! Definitely worth a try. Here is how I made this work. I went to a couple of stores and found the coat size that fit me best. Try that same coat size from various manufacturers to be sure. Then I used that coat size when ordering. You order by coat size. The pants are designed to fit a man wearing the particular coat size. When I first ordered suits this way, this made me pretty nervous, but (to my great surprise) it worked out great! I did not have to get the waist altered. These guys know what they are doing. Oh, and be sure to get a good pair of shoes, something to go with a tailored Italian suit. Gino Valentino Peak Lapel Ticket Pocket Suit Made in Italy Shiny Wool / Silk Mens Suit 150's Hand Made Two Button Canvas Front Jacket Modern Flat Front Pants Custom Working Buttonholes Business Suit Navy Faint Herringbone (42 Regular)

I expected a good suit but for the price I got an amazing deal. It fits perfectly both jacket and pants, and the finish is perfect. I thought I would need to tailor the pants waist but it was perfect, so I think they run a little smaller than american brands. Go for it no hesitation.

Im really not for writing reviews on my purchases but this suit is MONEY! As far as quality goes I am very impressed. I have several suits, Ben Sherman, Kenneth Cole, Ralph Lauren and a few other name droppers and this one is as good, if not better. I would recommend this to family friends or anyone who wants to look like a million. As far as fitting, I am 6'2", 200 lbs, wear a 16" neck and 34/35 shirt and a 34-36 pant. I got a 42 regular and its dead on. Fit was perfect, nice a slim. Pants a little too slim I had them let out 1" and they are great. This is the best $200 I've spent since my honeymoon! Wont go there. - Valentino Made In Italy - Valentino Made In Italy Suit - High Quality Suit - Highly Recommended'

Snrb Labs

I'll get to the review of the actual app.

If you have a google voice number, this is a must once you get it set up right. You will have to make some changes to your GV settings online so you can receive calls to this app. If you have your GV number forward calls to your "normal" cell number, then this app will still use your minutes. You have to forward the calls to your google chat so that when your google voice number gets dialed, it will ring on this app.

Having the ability to use this since it's tied into GV, over wifi is great. If you didn't know, GV doesn't work over wifi. It has to use a cellular signal like 3G/4G.

Since I'm active duty military, when we deploy overseas, most places and most phones don't have global capabilities. Also, carrier plans for overseas can be expensive. Now, wifi is available in a lot of places overseas so this turns your smartphone or even an android device that can use wifi, into a phone as long as you have a microphone on it or attached to it VIA a headset. This enabled me to call home on my phone if I didn't want to lug around my laptop. As long as I can connect to a wifi signal, it worked. Of course, the better the signal and strength of the wifi, the better the app will work. If it can work in Iraq, it can work in the U.S.

I can't comment on the bluetooth since I haven't used it.

NOW. The ONLY negative. Amazon app store takes FOREVER to update the apps. The developer updated this app on the Android Market on May 23, 2011. It is now June 3rd and Amazon still hasn't updated to 1.1.4 The dev. team is very active on Androidcentral.com's forums and they are there to help out with any problems you may have.

So, if you are reading this and haven't bought the app but have been looking for something like this app, get it BUT get it from Android Market place. NOT here.

EDIT* The dev. team just updated to 1.1.5 and what does amazon have? 1.1.4 and that was just updated today. Let's go Amazon. It can't possibly take this long to update an app once the developer submits to you. Get it together. GrooVe IP

Honestly, I was a bit dubious that this app would work, having tried some of the other Byzantine work-arounds for getting Google Voice, VOIP, etc working on Android tablets. Initially, I had outgoing calls but no luck with incoming ones. After exhausting my ideas and the documentation, I contacted the app's manufacturer but was not expecting much. Who does support these days, after all?

Instead I was FLOORED by the speed and thoroughness of the response I got. They systematically eliminated possible problems and did not give up until everything was working exactly as described. It's one thing to put an app "into the wild" and quite another to offer this level of fast, knowledgeable and thorough support.

I highly recommend Groove IP for anyone needing a Google Voice / VoiP solution. It'll change how you look at your Android tablet.

it works as advertised. I am using Wi-Fi from Colombia to make calls in the US. the call quality is very good. there is minimal delay. the quality of the call depends mostly on the quality of the Wi-Fi connection. I use an HTC EVO.

I have tried both sipdroid and csipsimple and GrooveIp is far better and worth the $5 for several reasons:

1) It is the only app that works directly with google voice, the others use sip providers

2) It is the only one that is actually free (sort of ironic). Because it uses google voice as a voip service by calling through google chat(maybe this is used only to create a recieving destination for the incoming calls not sure) rather than a sip provider (which i think is used to call your google voice number and then place a call, this is a guess). Anyway the point is that sip accounts and minutes cost money, it's just that when you make a pbxes sip account using sipdroid you recieve a "free" 2000 minutes/month pbxes account. As we should all know nothing is really free, there is a catch. The pbxes account will frequently "deactivate" (for lack of a better word), and you have to go into your browser and enter in your pbxes account and press submit on personal info again to reinstate the account. Anyway, i believe it is a measure to try and get yout to upgrade the account to a paid account. This really limits the number of free calls you make and/or recieve and is quite a nuisance.

3) Voice quality on Groove Ip is far better than what i experienced with sipdroid. Because it works directly with google voice rather than also using a sip protocol. I think the thing users need to remember is the voice quality can only be as good as google voice allows it to be, no more, no less. Google is allowing us to make free calls in the US and Canada so the quality is going to be of the "free" nature. It wont have the features of skype, but where google voice excels is its functionality (It allows you to use one number) and the voice quality is more than acceptable for causal phone calls (sometimes its flawless but other times good enough). I think this is due to the high variablity caused by using a cell phone (its not stationary like ur pc and if the other party is using a cell phone as well, its not equipped to handle variablity perfectly. Nonetheless, the dev for this app has provided many features (including echo cancellation, speakerphone, bluetooth, tablet support, audio processing, ect. to try and improve the voice quality to allow you to utilize google voice optimally. That is all you can really ask for.

4) The dev is very active. There are constantly updates and this app has improved alot over a short time of two months; i believe it is now fully functional and that is why i bought it. The user experience should only improve from now on. Sipdroid is an opensource project so alot of issues are left unaddressed, also it is more complicated because it has to deal with sip providers.

Note: I have only used Groove Ip with wifi, as i dont use 3g/data plan, so i have no experience using Groove ip with a mobile data connection.

Note: Alot of people (atleast i have haha) have trouble with incoming calls on both sipdroid and Groove Ip because of intermitent wifi connectivity problems when the phone goes to sleep. These problems are assoicated with the android OS and dependent on the hardware of the phone, and in my oppinion are not a reflection of the app. The dev has and is continuing to address this problem anyway and there are quite a few wifi fixer apps in the market that adequately resolve these issues as well.

I suggest Groove Ip for those of us who are really trying to make use of google voice (I use prepaid phone service so every minute counts). If you just want to save a few minutes here and there than i guess sipdroid is acceptable, its not as hard to setup as people make it out to be. However, The setup for Groove IP is virtually just entering your gmail account once.'

Drawing

My daughter is taking her third semester of a drawing class. Her original pencils were used to nubs, and I bought this larger set as a replacement. She was thrilled to get everything she needed -- lots of different lead weights as well as erasers and graphite. A perfect set for her classes. Royal & Langnickel Essentials Sketching Pencil Set, 21-Piece

My daughter loves to sketch and draw so we got her this set to allow her to feel a bit more professional. She loves it! The only thing I would have liked to see in this set would be perhaps a set of "instructions" as to what the different strengths of pencils are used for, or even what the strengths stand for. I am sure professional artists do not need something like this.. but for beginners like my daughter, she is kinda lost when it comes to knowing what each kind of pencil is or how to use it properly. But she goes on her merry way and is having a blast creating and using them as she feels is right.

Let me preface this review with I have no idea what I'm doing. I bought a pencil kit because I love to draw but have no formal training. I love the wide variety of graphite and charcoal mediums. It's great exposure to find what you like and invest more in your favorites. I'd love to have a nice storage case for everything, but that's a bit unrealistic considering the price.

I recieved this item super fast and got exactly what was described. Very accurate description, and very speedy shipping. I would highly recommend this seller and would not hesitate to buy from them again. As an artist who has been out of commision for several years, this sampler is great to get back into the groove of drawing. Good quality.

I bought this as a gift and kinda embarrassed to give it after seeing how small everything is. The pencils look like regular pencils and a couple of them were sharpened so much it was less than a pencil size. The chalk is extremely skinny making it look like it is going to break easily. I think this would be better for half the price.'
