Point And Shoot Cameras - nikon, point and shoot

Disclaimer: This particular review isn't being written from an avid photographer's point of view.

I needed a small, inexpensive, good-quality, easy-to-use camera for my job and the Fuji e510 I bought in 2005 just wasn't cutting it. The Fuji was good for its time, had manual settings capability, but had a painfully small viewer and was too complicated for my uses which require quickly taking good-quality indoor pictures with normal room lighting (no flash preferred).

I was looking at the Nikon L20/21's, then I saw that this new (Spring 2011) model L24 came out. I've used it on enough jobs to feel I can properly judge its operation and image quality and so far, I'm very pleased.

My job is a self-employed computer tech and I do a lot of on-site subcontracted work for companies that service electronics manufacturers' warranties. My main use for this camera is taking good, clear indoor before/after photos of various electronic devices and related components. My requirements are a large LCD viewer, the ability to use common AA batteries, have my settings (date/time, photo mode) retained after batteries were removed and replaced, and a quick way to transfer images to my PC's that doesn't rely solely on a USB cable.

Preferring not to have to deal with camera angle or cumbersome tricks to reduce flash reflection from shiny surfaces, I was hoping to find something that would allow effective non-flash settings where a semi steadily-held camera could take clear, acceptable indoor pictures as required by the companies that I do work for.

As much as I tried, I could not get good, consistent results with the e510 but I seem to have found that camera with the L24.

So far with the L24, I've taken pictures of HDTV televisions (displays powered both on and off), PCB boards, product labels, macro shots of venting capacitors, etc. - all without flash, using only ambient room lighting.

For me, time is an important factor and with these onsite job shots, I do not have the time or desire to do pre-shot adjustments or after-processing like resizing, gamma-tweaking, or cropping. The shots I take need to be ready to be attached to an email or be uploaded to technician portals. The settings that I have found that work for me is the "white balance" and "motion detect" set for auto, resolution set for 1024x768 (for email-ready small file and dimension), and flash set for "off".

As long as my subjects aren't in the shadows, the camera is held relatively steady, and the images framed properly, my pictures have been clear and all I have to do once I return home is transfer to my PC, attach and send. The settings as described above allow clear pictures for my uses in both regular and macro modes.

The camera remembers my settings with its AA batteries out and its 3" LCD viewer lets me verify a good shot (they've all been pretty good so far).

Connectivity:

All of my PC's have a card slot that accommodates the SD type, so if the included UC-E6 cable isn't handy, I remove the SD card from the camera and transfer images that way. If I needed more of these cables, I can get them for $4 each on eBay.

You don't have to use a SD card (camera has 17MB built-in) but I do recommend using a card for the extra storage and image-transfer/connectivity options.

When buying a SD card, consider the card-reading compatibility with your existing equipment if you intend on using using the card to transfer images. Some card readers do not read SDHC (high-capacity) cards, I was aware of this potential compatibility issue beforehand and bought a standard SD 2GB (not a SDHC) card.

I'm sure once more people buy this camera, more features than I covered will be discussed. There are settings on the L24 that I will probably never use. In my quick tour through the menu settings (haven't read the manual yet - haha) I didn't see where you can manually adjust aperture or shutter speed independently but there is an exposure control. The lack of manual settings might be a minus for serious photographers but like I said before, photography isn't a hobby for me - I just want to take good pictures easily and quickly. Nikon COOLPIX L24 14 MP Digital Camera with 3.6x NIKKOR Optical Zoom Lens and 3-Inch LCD (Black)

I purchased this camera for quick access during vacation and travel. Although the camera cannot zoom very far it still is a very good camera. Takes very clear pictures and can be slipped into your pockets very easily into my pocket. Transferring pictures is very easy just hook up the camera into the computer and click the you want and drag to the desktop. The only problem i have with the camera is that it has a hard time focusing on small texts. For example i want to copy a receipt and send it to the manufacturer it would come out blurry.

Overall this is a great camera and i would highly recommend this for travel or for quick takes - Digital Camera - Point And Shoot - Nikon - Best Digital Camera'

Camera Accessories - compact, camera accessories

Perfect size for my Canon Canon PowerShot SD950IS 12.1MP Digital Camera with 3.7x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Titanium). Very compact case, but enough room for a spare battery and extra memory. Well-made. Great quality. Will provide ample protection for my camera. Also well sized for Canon PowerShot SD850 IS 8.0 MP Digital Elph Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom. Lowepro Ridge 10 Camera Case (Black)

I got this bag for my Canon Powershot SD850IS. It's a perfect fit. The interior is nicely padded - soft and nice. It won't scratch the LCD and the camera body.

Pro:

- Perfect fit

- Nice and soft padding - won't scratch LCD and camera body

- Waterproof

- Have enough space to put additional memory card and battery (if needed)

- Compact

- Good price

Con:

- Belt Loop is closed - It's better if the belt loop can be opened.

This is a very nice small thin camera bag for certain digital cameras. It has a shoulder strap (a necessity) and a pocket for an extra card and/or batteries. It is in constant use because it works. It zips shut, but has easy access to camera quickly. It is great.

This case is excellent. I bought it for my mom for Christmas. She also has the Canon SD600. The case fits the camera perfectly and includes an extra pocket in the front perfect for an extra memory card or battery. The design is nice also.

I bought this for a replacement Canon SD750 when my SD450 was dropped. I looked at several different styles and brands, including the Canon leather case. This far exceeds them all.

With my SD450, I had the Canon leather case which was nice and kept the camera safe for a year in Iraq. But, the Ridge 10 has more padding, a more sturdy closure with velcro, a seperate slot for an extra battery (which I use thanks to the busted SD450) and another zippered enclosure just the right size for an SD Card (I keep two in mine). Additionally, the belt loops are easier to get on and off the belt whereas the Canons was a very tight fit, the the Ridge 10 also comes with a detachable strap. Excellent buy for this size camera- I couldn't recommend it any higher. Oh, it also looks good (I have the black) and the zippers are nicely embroidered with orange stitching making it easier to find the tabs, especially in the dark. Good workmanship as well.

I bought this case for the Nikon Coolpix L14 that I gave my seven year old granddaughter for Christmas. It's absolutely perfect both for the camera and for her. It's large enough to hold the camera, extra batteries, and an extra memory card. It has both an adjustable neck strap and a belt loop. The padding is plenty adequate to protect the camera.

I chose this particular case because I own two other Lowepro bags, one for my Canon 30D and at least three lenses (depending on the size) and one smaller for my video camera. The quality is excellent and the bags sufficiently protect my gear.

I must add that I find it amusing that some people blame the bag when their camera doesn't fit and then give the bag a one star rating! Get a measuring device and a clue!

A very high quality bag but a bit of a tight squeeze for my Panasonic Lumix FH-20 (but it **does** fit). If you have the same camera I'd recommend the next larger size bag: the Ridge-30. But if you have an ultra compact the Ridge-10 is a great choice. The main compartment is well-padded and is lined with a soft, velour-like material that won't scratch your LCD screen. It closes with a single wrap-around zip. The extra storage is exactly what you need: a gusseted pocket for a spare battery (the flat OEM types fit great but AA's might not fit too well, though) and the velcro-closed flap has a zip compartment that's perfect for extra memory cards. An adjustable neck-strap (which clips on) and a sewn-in belt-loop complete the package. I do wish the belt-loop closed with velcro or a snap, though -- I don't want to have to take my belt off to put the thing on but that's a minor quibble. I'll probably use the neck strap which adjusts long enough to wear cross-wise over one shoulder and rest on the hip (my wife taught me that!)

It's almost as if it was designed by someone who actually does walk around with a camera. - Camera Cases - Compact - Camera Accessories - Camera Bag'

Sandisk 16gb Microsdhc Card - 16gb, microsdhc

Though I wish I had waited a couple of weeks to buy this card (the price dropped 30 dollars in the past two weeks), I have nothing but good things to say about the card. Easy to load, easy to read. I managed to put about 11 gigs on here in the first three days (lots of music) and the access has been flawless. Word of caution, be careful with the card reader. My first attempt led to a corrupted card which I had to return. May have been a manufacturing defect (bought from best buy, not from Amazon. Best buy charged 99.00). I reccomend loading the card in the device before adding data rather than using the reader and then inserting loaded card.

All in all, a miracle of storage on a tiny card. I eagerly await the 32 gb in a year or two. 16GB Microsd Memory Card

Great card, works great, is exactly what it says, and comes with SanDisk's standard warranty. A couple things to remember, 16 "gigabytes" in manufacturer terms equates to about 14.9 true formatted gigabytes (because a kilo for a computer is 1024). Also the MicroSDHC standard is the same card and interface as the old MicroSD; the difference is in the compression method. This means that many smartphones that didn't support SDHC when they were made can support it if the software is upgraded. An example of this is any Windows Mobile phone that has been upgraded to WinMo 6.1; 6.1 supports SDHC.

I bought this ithem for the new Sprint HTC Touch Pro phone. After formatting it to the phones specification it worked like a charm, there's so much room on the card that I don't know what to do with the rest of it. It's the perfect Card for my phone.

The RIM 9530 comes with an 8GB Sandisk microSDHC already installed with phone. Despite same, I wanted even more storage on my new phone to accomodate a bigger (business) e-mail store, large work files and records (convenient availability and back-up when traveling away from office), and room for personal files including music, audible books (now have lots of room for these right on my phone), pictures, etc. This additional storage capability right on my phone allows me to leave my laptop (PC) at work/home for some trips - a blessing indeed given the hassles of air travel, luggage, etc. When phone is connected to your PC (or borrowed/public PC), the 16GB card can be readily accessed as a USB mass storage device. Very handy.

No problems with this (16 GB Sandisk micro sdhc) card - installed quickly and transferred/loaded all files without any problems. I have been using this since late November (including almost daily synchronization between phone and PC) and am pleased to confirm that as of January 12, 2009 I have not experienced a single problem with the card. Highly recommended for others using a compatible phone who can benefit from the additional storage capability offered by this fast, reliable 16GB microSDHC.

It's kind of hard to review something as utilitarian as a memory card. It does what it's supposed to in my phone (which will recognize up to 32 gig cards). I tend to install as much as I can on the memory card to conserve the limited space most phones allow the user. There's been no noticeable difference in program run or data access speed for anything on the card. Delivery was on time & without damage. The only downside was that I needed the card then & couldn't wait for prices to drop.

I bought this SanDisk 16GB Micro SDHC card to use in my Sansa View MP3 player and I love it. It works for exactly what I wanted it to, more space for songs, pictures and videos. Definetely recommend it, great storage space for the price.

I bought a Sansa Clip 4GB mp3 player and was looking for more space. The clip supported up to 16GB MicroSDHC cards so I bought this one based on price and reviews. I chose to buy it from the featured merchant - Digital media Source- based on its faster shipping for the same price as the default that Amazon was showing. It was a good choice because the item showed up new in sealed Sandisk packaging. I put the card in my mp3 player and at first my computer didn't recognize it, after thinking I got screwed I plugged it in again and it worked great. I filled it up with songs and have been working out with it for the past week with no problems at all. I recommend choosing Digital Media source as your vendor, I was happy I did. Since some reviews said the chip showed up by it self and not in a package it was not the case through them.

Great card. I've had it in daily use for about 3 months now, I use it as a backup storage space for large zip files. Data transfer speeds are great, it doesn't seem to get hot like some other brands I've tried, and I've never lost any data on it to corrupt FAT tables or other screw ups that a lot of flash drives seem to do.

You can never have too much storage, and this relates to smartphones as much as it does to PCs. My WinMo device (AT&T Fuze) has GPS, music, photos, video, spreadsheets, PowerPoint slideshows, Excel spreadsheets, etc. This card stores a ton of stuff (including a full set of maps for my GPS so I don't have to rely on a data connection). Together with the on-board storage, it gives me just a little more storage than the over-hyped 16G iPhone.

It is a Class 2 card, so its transfer rate is slower than some smaller cards, but I haven't noticed any problems with video or audio playback. Still, I'd like to see a Class 4 version in the future to allow for faster data transfer. Also, I purchased this card to replace my last 16GB card that got corrupted and became unusable (after about 2 months). I've had this one for almost 2 months with no problems so far, and the last one is going back to SanDisk (they have lifetime warranties). Cards of any size can go bad, but I'm hoping the last one was an anomaly. - Cell Phone Memory - Sandisk - 16gb - Microsdhc'

Ipod Accessory - audio cables, ipod cable

My new car has an AUX input jack so I bought this cable to use my mp3 player (Creative Muvo) with the speakers. It works seamlessly and excellently. Shipping was fast and I'm very happy with the product. InCarCables Car Stereo Ipod/mp3 Auxiliary Aux-in Input Cable 3.5mm (4ft/1.2m)

I purchased these cables to connect my iPhone to my Car speakers using Aux. Input and I am really pleased with the build and quality of these cables. Definitely worth spending few more bucks than buying any ordinary cable.

This particular wire turned out to be exactly what I needed to connect my SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 2 GB MP3 Player (Black) to the car stereo through the AUX port.

It's got the following going for it:

- Right size - 4 ft. seems to be the ideal size with the MP3 player placed under the dashboard.

- Good sound quality.

- Not-too-cheap looking connectors. And the grey-black style happens to match my car's interior.

- Price is not too bad. Not exactly cheap for what I got but, given free shipping, it's tolerable.

- There seems to be some customer support from vendor. InCarCables included a postcard with the shipment, offering to replace defective cables and even to ship the right cable upon emailing them if they sent you the wrong one by mistake.

Overall, it's the best value on this length/quality I found at Amazon at the time I ordered. I was inclined to award it 4 star because the price is a little high but, given the nice customer support commitment, I'm upgrading my rating to a 5-star. We should always encourage vendors that value their customers and promise to stand behind their product.

I looked around at a few cheapy cables and ended up getting this cable. I'm glad I did. It's really good quality and use it in my Escape through the AUX input with a few year old iPod Nano. The length is just right and I can let it lay in my seat or it is long enough for others to hold and use if necessary. Only had a short time but the sound is much better than my normal radio using this cable and iPod.

This cable works just great. I use it in my car to hook up my MP3 player to my car stereo system. Sound reproduction is as good, if not better, than headphones. So, the cable is definitely sending enough signal in sufficient detail and strength from my MP3 player to the MP3 socket in my R32's glove box.

I have two slight gripes. First, the cable is quite thick and makes it difficult to close the glove box door. Consequently, the door surround pinches the cable which I hope won't break it over time. Second, the free shipping from InCarCables is great, but you get what you pay for. Flimsy packaging. My cable arrived in a thin plastic envelope. It was absolutely fine, but could so easily have been damaged in transit. Personally, I'd have been happy to pay a few extra bucks for a padded envelope or a small cardboard box for the packaging.

Overall, don't be fooled into buying massively expensive cables thinking that's the only way you're going to get quality sound. This cable works just great. You'll see! Or rather hear!

The cable looks like it's excellent quality, but poorly designed. The head is too big if you have a case on the iphone. I'm giving it 2 stars because what good is an excellent quality cable if you can't plug it in all the way?

Update 3/31/11: Designing a cable to fit a myriad of devices (with and without cases) is imperative. I have purchased multiple wires since this one that all fit just fine because the designers gave it some forethought. The designers of this one didn't. Therefore, two stars. - Ipod Cable - Audio Cable - Audio Cables - Ipod Accessory'

Thumb Sucking Remedy - self-help, health

I've been a habitual nailbiter since I was probably around three or four, from what my mom tells me. I've tried everything from creams to bandaids to false nails to powders. NOTHING worked. I stumbled upon this listing while browsing on amazon, and the word "permanently" caught my eye. I bought it, thinking I'd have another "cure" on my hands, but that it was better than doing nothing. I read through it, got to the "treatment" chapter, and my first thought was this: "You've GOT to be kidding me. I just spent $14 on a book so some guy could tell me to snap a RUBBER BAND on my arm??? That's insane!"

But... misgivings aside, I tried it, and it took right away. Within the first few hours I was more aware of my inspecting and picking and nibbling, and by the end of the first day, I hadn't put my fingers in my mouth at all!

Still, a little expensive for the old rubber band trick (which I hadn't previously thought to try). Stop Your Nailbiting!: Permanently

the support offered in this book is great. if you are a biter, then i highly encourage you to invest in this book and try the remedy. Gilbreth Brown really understands what it's like and has researched the habit and is very passionate about helping the 20% of the population who bite their nails. the book is well thought out, a quick and easy read, offers a easy to implement permanent cure and on-going web-support. he speaks to you personally and gets results, no matter how sceptical you are, because you become empowered rather than just bandaid the problem.

could also be an invaluable christmas gift

Although the technique promoted by this book may seem simple, the explanations and discussions around nailbiting helped give me a better understanding of this awful habit. I've bitten my nails since I was 5 years old, and even though I've been able to stop for a few times throughout the last 30 years, I've never felt like I really kicked the habit. I've tried hypnosis, creams, anti-nail biting polish, gloves, band-aids - everything. This book and the technique has really changed my perspective. I was able to stop biting my nails almost immediately, and now it has been two months and I finally have hands that I'm not afraid to show. In addition, I feel confident that I will be able to resist the urge to bite, where in the past I always had moments of weakness (one finger was almost always sacrificed if I felt the urge to bite, and then soon the habit would be full-blown again). If you are a life-long nailbiter, or know someone who is, get this book. It's not much money, and there are many success stories (see the reviews for the print version).

I have been a chronic nail and lip biter/picker for 33 years. Like many others, I have tried various techniques with no success. This habit has caused me an incredible amount of shame, and until reading Brown's book I felt completely and utterly alone in my suffering. Perhaps equally powerful as the simple, yet brilliant solution, is all the insight and personal experience that Brown relays about the habit. For the first time I felt understood and seen, which is incredibly healing in itself.

Alcoholics go to 12-step meetings because the experience of sharing their common suffering with others has a great healing effect. There are no meetings or support groups for nailbiters. Therapists (I am one) aren't even helpful because they don't understand this un-researched area. Brown's book fills the gap and serves as a lifeline... finally shedding light on this "habit" that feels more like a curse to those of us who have struggled with it for most of our lives. I owe Gilbreth Brown a debt of gratitude!!!

Well, I guess bad publicity is better than none! :) Yes, while we do use the rubber band method, it is HOW this is used that makes the difference. Also, we do not rely solely on the band - instead, we use it in conjunction with a variety of other techniques (e.g., understanding that the habit is actually a two-part habit, altering unconcious behavior, etc). If you follow the directions EXACTLY as I have described, nail biting can be beaten easily, quickly, and permanently. We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee, see the site for many, many examples of customer case success stories.

The technique described in this book is GREAT--the day I started using it, I quit biting my nails (about a month ago). However, much of the book is just the same thing repeated over and over. This could have made a good pamphlet.

The technique contained in this book is simple and absolutely works. After decades of trying false nails, gloves, bandaids, and bitter tasting polish, my nailbiting was completely cured in less than 3 weeks. I've been biting my nails all of my 50 years, and my front teeth are slightly pushed in from all the pressure I've placed on them. That ugly habit is no longer tormenting my self-esteem. I'm forever grateful to Mr. Brown for providing this information and for his support. - Body - Nail Biting Solutions - Self-help - Health'

Droid Incredible - htc evo, htc evo 4g

Beware of buying from DB Roth. Not only is this billed as an HTC OEM product which it's not, but it also was supposed to include the car charger and an lanyard, which it did not. What a ripoff. I will be sending this back but am highly irritated that it's not what I ordered. Definite violation of truth in advertising. OEM HTC USB Travel Charger Adapter U250 / CNR6300 / 79H00095-14M

The AC adapter I received causes touch screen grounding issues that I do not have with the charger that came with my EVO. What some people are describing as "slow down" is actually the touch screen becoming unresponsive do to a charger with the wrong voltage, etc.

**Update**

This is definitely not Model # U250 and the voltages etc are different than that of the U250. Buyer Beware.

I'm not sure what happened but I did NOT receive the same type USB charger that came with my Droid Incredbile. I recieved some no-name USB charger. I don't know if it is the correct voltage and would rather not test it on my phone. I am in the process of asking "DBROTH" for a refund.

seems like the real thing but it did not come with the usb cord as advertised so I had to spend more to get the cord, if i had known it wasnt gonna come with a cord I wouldn't have bought it so beware when buying

Both of these plugs have a ground short. i.e. once a phone is plugged in the capacitive touch become inactive when using these chargers. I tried different wall sources, different wires, and different phones. The plug itself is creating a ground short on BOTH units I ordered.

Product arrived fast but was not as described. No car charger, no lanyard (don't care) but the charger I got has signs of use. Not in OEM brand new condition. Looks like they rolled up someone's used HTC charger + USB and mailed it. Charger makes strange noise when plugged into the wall. Thought I was hearing strange things but it was this charger. Do not buy!

When I ordered this item, it was listed as "3 pieces combo of HTC U250 CNR6300 Micro USB AC Travel Charger Adapter, charging data cable and MD Dual USB Port Car Charger Adapter for HTC 9292 EVO" and the description still includes the words "dual port USB Car Charger Adapter". So why have I only gotten a USB wall adapter and a cable? I didn't even get the little blue lanyard (which I didn't need anyway, but that's not the point). This seemed like a great deal for the bundle of wall adapter, car charger, and cable. Without the car charger, it's a ripoff.

This charger is definitely NOT an OEM HTC Charger and bears little resemblance to the OEM HTC charger that came with my EVO 4G. The manufacturer of this charger is 'Delta Electronics'. I am very disappointed with this purchase and the fact that this is billed as an OEM HTC charger. This item listing is completely false and should be taken down or changed immediately. On the plus side, it does seem to work. Still, I payed for the OEM HTC Charger and did not receive that. Again I am extremely disappointed and will be filing a complaint against this seller. **DO NOT BUY**

Bought this charger for Droid Incredible. It is the exact same wall charger that came with the phone when I bought it. Absolutely no issues, charges the phone rapidly as I would expect. I'd read about other, slightly less expensive chargers being hit or miss with the Incredible, with some of them freezing the screen, causing other problems, only giving a trickle charge--if you need an extra charger for your Incredible, and want one you know will work, this one does. Enough said. - Oem - Htc Evo - Charger - Htc Evo 4g'

Iphone Case - iphone case, holster

Although this may not be the "perfect case" for an iPhone, I found it to be a nice little case - especially for the super inexpensive price. I have seen very similarly made ones at Target for $20. This case is horizontal so it doesn't "bounce" as much as vertical ones and in addition to the clip, it has belt loops on the back to run through your belt if you wish. (I do not use it that way, but they don't bother me.) Premium Black Horizontal Leather Side Case Pouch with Belt Clip for iPhone 3GS / iPhone 3G / iPhone

If you're looking for an iphone case for light use, or a case to protect your phone in a bag or whatnot, then this case will do the job -- and the price is right. However, I put these cases on my belt using the clip. And after a month the clip had separated from the body of the case and I had to get a new case. It's held on with little more than some glue and stitching. I've had a lot of this type of case over the years, and for more the clip attachment is almost always the first to go. I got a similar looking case on Amazon -- QuickFlipCase for iPhone 4 (AT&T/Verizon Versions), iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3, Grantwood Technology's Premium Leather Horizontal Flip Case (Black) -- for a lot more money (but still under $20). It has two metal rivets that firmly attach the belt clip to the rest of the case. For me, it's been worth it. Your mileage may vary, but at least you can make an informed decision.

I was looking for a horizontal belt case for my Creative Labs Vado Pocket Video Camcorder (Silver) OLD MODEL and after looking at a Horizontal Black Leather Case for the Creative Vado HD with both a belt clip and loop option - a Gomadic design (for 40 bucks) found this case that's a perfect fit!

I got this item a week ago and so far it is still performing good. No thread coming off or any physical defect. The only thing is the item that I got is different from the image that is posted. Or maybe, I like the one that I got compared to the one image posted in here. =) But for a reasonable price, I am not expecting it to be the greatest mobile phone case pouch in here. If this case will last for a year or so, then maybe I'll give this an upgrade of a 5 star rating. - Iphone Case - Holster - Iphone'

Wrist Jockey - ipod nano watch, ipod watch

I have decided to review this product, since there are no other reviews worth reading, and since it is actually a fairly good buy. The choice can be difficult, because on average this product is more expensive than the other running docks for your ipod.

Firstly, let me say that I have only had mine for a day. I have the 6th Gen Nano. So, I cannot give any feedback at this stage regarding how this product will wear. I will try to remember to return in a month or two's time and post an update. Also, time from buy to receive was about a week, so I cant identify with the other comment about the lack of shipping.

- The product looks good, and is essentially exactly how it looks in the photo. The Nano fits pretty much perfectly. However, if you have a silicone cover on your nano it will NOT fit.

- It is easy to get the nano in and out, and because of the clip on the nano, when its in, it is secure, and therefore wont fall off the watch. This means its not the kind of "cover" where once its in, its in forever.

- The screen of the nano can be easily rotated to have the clock face, and the menu etc interface in the orientation you desire.

- The headphone jack of the nano points UP YOU ARM when the ipod is docked. I find this to be quite convenient as I use mine for running, and therefore want the cable pointing up my arm

- NB one: The docking platform between the two straps is PLASTIC (not metal). I believe this will have pro's and con's, given that plastic will wear better with the sweat, but may not last as long. Potential concern here. However, the plastic does appear sturdy, so will let you know how it goes.

- The size of the watch strap, and the holes make it possible to fit almost all size arms. I am a fairly big guy, and it fits me comfortably. However, if you have mammoth wrists, you may run into trouble.

Post comments, and I will try to answer them. All in all, a good product that is (imho) freaking cool.

UPDATE: March 10:

I have been using the product for about a month and a half. I used a small file to round the edges of the platic platform onto which the ipod attaches, as they were quite sharp and snagged on sweaters etc. My ipod fits snuggly into the platform, and doesn't move around. The plastic platform still looks good.

The silicone straps dont show any signs of wear yet, and I use my strap principally for running, so the straps receives a lot of sweat. Btw, if you use for running, get yourself a set of these babies: Sennheiser Adidas PMX 680 Sports Earbud Headphone with Volume control & Neckband. They are incredible, and dont move an inch when you run. iWatchz CLRCHR22BLU Q Collection Wrist Strap for iPod Nano 6G

I had always thought that a small mp3 player could always be worn best on the wrist. Clipping it to a band or cuffing it to your bicep wasn't always the most comfortable, secure fit. Obviously, the market wasn't out there for this idea until the 6G Ipod Nano came along. Before, the small size pretty much limited the total song capacity to about two, and there was no option to securely fasten the player to the wrist anyway- they were still too bulky.

This Nano, with its optional clock display-was made for this wristband (and vice versa). I got this watchband as a gift for my wife after getting her the Ipod for Christmas. The fit is tight and secure. The instructions are nonexistent- if you need to adjust the bands to facilitate positioning the Ipod (to not only display correctly but to have the headphone jack positioned correctly as well, you will have to study the pieces and intuit what needs to be done. Not a problem for me- but I am smart:)

In the end, with a little extra effort on my part swapping the bands around- this turned into an appreciated gift. My wife wears the Ipod daily as a watch. All that is needed is to plug in the headphones and the Ipod reverts back to its original purpose- only secured to the wrist (the headphones are positioned to run up inside shirt sleeves, helping to keep the cords from flaying around wildly when working out).

So yes, this is a very good product. No instructions in this case won't merit a mark down because any adjustments are easy to figure out and don't require extra parts/tools to accomplish. Once adjusted (and this may not be necessary for you) this watchband is well-made and obviously manufactured to fit the Ipod securely and attractively. This product complements the Ipod so well I expect Apple will come out with something similar to it, soon.

The part that holds the nano is flimsy and poorly made.

Problem one: very rough edge that hangs out beyond the nano.

Problem two: the whole band depends on one very thin piece of plastic underneath the nano. The piece broke after about 2 months of daily use.

The bad was great and very comfortable, but the piece that holds the nano is terrible. - Ipod Nano Watch Band - Nano Watch Band - Ipod Nano Watch - Ipod Watch'

Woodworking Joinery - kreg, tools

I have always been a big fan of Kreg products. This is another good one. I have used it for one composite Trex deck so and far and it is excellent. I have used all types of concealed fastening systems and this is so far the best for composite decking. Not sure about hardwoods but will probably be fine. I do wish the quality of the jig was a little better. KREG KJDECKSYS Deck Jig

The jig works as advertised...mostly. There are a few things that I did differently than the instructions, once I used the jig for a few courses on my 1" cedar deck. Never start on the end! Setting the screws caused the board to pull over and out of alignment, and the system doesn't allow you to use the jig and a spacer on the same joist with 4" boards. I used the spacers and placed it behind the first 2 joist after the butt joint. pre-drilled first 6 holes on the board (2 end 45 holes, and the next 2 joist front & back), then making sure that the splice was still in the center of the joist and the deck board was spaced and aligned correctly, I would set the board, but at the next joist, and maybe the next. The go back and do the end. This way the board was locked and would not be "pulled" by the sinking of the screw. Also you should know that this will consume ALOT of time if you follow their process. Switching drill guns all the time is VERY laborious.

Set 1 end of the run and cut your entire row. Then run down both sides pre-drilling the holes then set the leading edge, but for the whole course then screw the entire back at once. Save loads of time and as long as you pay attention to the joints and your spacing you'll be fine.

Lessons:

1. Set boards as above

2. Keep the jig flat on the board with pressure when drilling.

3. Double check your screw count from their website estimator

Should note that my Dad liked the jig so much that he bought one too. It will save you loads of money compared to the other hidden fasteners (tiger claw or the others), but you pay in time with this. So if you're in a hurry to get the deck done....spend the crazy money and face the claw.

Kreg came out with a great idea that kept my cedar boards from splitting on the ends. Kreg had produced high quality items in the past but they need to go back and beef this item up. Not enough plastic to keep it from flexing and those bolt on guides should be molded into the handle. I'm afraid it won't stand up to winter work. The thin plastic will be brittle and I don't need down time. I also went to the square drive bit after 3 screws for better performance. I loved the finished product of hidden screws and can go back the cheaper plastic deck boards.

Stay away from this jig if you are using wood decking. The boards will bow since they are only being held on the sides and not much downward holding. The screws also don't have that much of a head for screwing down stairs or overhanging sections. It does give a better look but I am afraid I am going to have to go back and use regular screws to replace some bowing. Also I had issues with the drill bit breaking and Kreg would not replace even though it is a known problem. Not a big deal since I could still use in a drill, just not with a quick release. I ended up using two drills.

After a week of trying to make a decision on a fastening system for my newly purchased trex decking I stumbled onto the Kreg Deck Jig. What a great product. I installed 250 sq feet of decking for a 3rd of the price of other hidden fastener systems, and 1/2 the price of stainless steel unsightly top screws. The jig is simple to use, and does the job very quickly with the use of 2 cordless screw guns.I recommend this product to anyone installing 5/4 decking.

I am about half way through a re-decking job using the Kreg Deck Jig. Overall I like the system but have a few complaints and suggestions. First, the requirement that use use only the Kreg Deck Screws can cost you a lot of extra time and $$. When I bought my Kreg Deck Jig at Lowes they did not have any of the Kreg screws left in stock so I found them at a nearby Home Depot. But when I burned through the first box of 700 screws ($49.95) and returned to HD for more they had none ;^( seems that they have quit carrying Kreg and I bought the last remaining box of screws........So I returned to Lowes hoping that they would have received new stock. First I checked their website and it said they did have the screws in stock. But when I got to Lowes I could not find the Kreg screws and neither could four of the Lowes employees. Two said they had never heard of Kreg screws. So I pulled out my Android phone and went back to the Lowes website and had the manager look up the item number in their computer. Sure enough his PC said they had three boxes........now if someone could just find them. Turns out they were stocked not in the "screw isle" with all the other decking screws but rather in with the power tools hiding on the lowest shelf. Bought their last box, another $49.95.

In use I found that I tended to rest my left hand on the jig's handle and slide it along from joist to joist. This became painful after a couple of hours but I took some closed cell pipe insulation and wrapped the bare plastic handle with two layers of foam. This REALLY helped reduce the pains in my left hand! In use I also was a bit frustrated that you really need to make four passes down each board. One on each side to drill the pilot holes, then one down each side again to drive in the screws. Unless you want to change bits at every hole, or own two impact drivers, I don't see another way. I would also like to see the jig made of aluminum rather than plastic as I doubt the jig will hold up for more that a deck job or two.

I finished my decking but I will not use the Kreg jig on any future deck jobs. It is just too SLOW.

Just finished a 12 X 16 deck with Trex composite boards. This jig and screws worked well for the most part. Very hard to see the screw holes unless you look for them. Did a nice job. I found that doing one side of about 4-5 boards and then going back to do the other side worked well. It allowed me to focus on setting the spacing first, and after the boards were in and spaced, I could quickly do the other side without worry. This might not work as well if the boards were cold and stiff, but it worked fine for warm, flexible composite. At times I wished that I had 2 of the jigs so I could drill the holes and have someone follow behind with the fasteners. If you have a really big deck to do, you might want to consider two of the units.

My only complaint is the stop collars for the driver bit. The screw that Kreg used is small and the allen wrench cheap. About half way through I noticed the collar was starting to slip, making me drive the screws in too deep unless I noticed. I ended up having to check the collar every couple few boards, which was frustrating. I ended up going to the box store and getting a hardened screw so I could tighten it better versus the allen wrench. There are no clearance considerations so I don't know why Kreg didn't do that from the get go. Or perhaps a flat ground on the driver bit. Finally, although the durability was good for a homeowner, I could see where a contractor under heavy use might wear this out in a few decks, at least requiring new driver bits and collars.

Worked great for what I need though.

UPDATE: Just posted a picture of my solution to the slipping collar set screws. I bought a 2-pack of stainless #10-32 X 3/8" socket cap screws and replaced the smaller black set screws in the collars. As you can see in the picture, it allows a larger allen wrench to be used and creates a lot more force, holding the collar in place for the duration. - Guide - Kreg - Woodworking Joinery - Tools'

Paranormal - horror, demons

This book is about a spiritual battle between good and the evil trying to take over, prophesies to be fulfilled and learning to have true faith. There are angels, demons, warrior priests, fallen angels and a young boy born with special powers to save the world. Ethan's confusion as he learns about himself and his unique abilities make you care for him. His alternating youthful over-confidence and insecurity as he is thrown into a world far beyond anything he is prepared for forces him to look beyond himself for help. As he grows spiritually, he learns that his strengths come from faith in a higher power.

From the moment you pick up the book, the author draws you right in with good character development, a great storyline, lots of sub-plots. Still, it flows quickly and smoothly, without getting bogged down in the details. There was no need for overly-graphic scenes, making the book appropriate for all readers! The ending was perfect to leave you wanting to read more, leading you into the next book in the trilogy! The worst thing I can say about the book was that it wasn't at LEAST 300 pages longer!

Great work, as are all of the books I have read by Mr. Somers! THE REALM SHIFT (Realm Shift Trilogy #1)

As an avid reader of Sci Fi and Christian authored books, I highly recomend this book and anything else by Mr Somers. No namby pamby is James Somers! He appears to understand the realities of life on this plane of Life. This book is entertaining, provocative and makes the reader want to jump to his or her feet to cheer the heros and boo the bad guys! Can hardly wait to read the sequels. May we see many more works from the pen of James Somers.

Okay, to save time I'll just review the whole trilogy here: I found the realm shift to be a very cool story. Book One introduces us to Ethan who is part of a prophecy but doesn't realize it. He's been wondering since he was very young why he can see demons and they can't see him. This is only the beginning of the cool powers he possesses though and the book is filled with lots of action and enjoyable characters. I especially enjoyed reading the scenes with Captain Bonifast--sort of a Han Solo or Jack Sparrow type of guy.

Book Two was even better...more development of the characters and some surprising twists in the story that I really enjoyed. There's more going on than I'd previously thought would be...this hits an ending like Empire Strikes Back where the good guy may have just become a villain or vice/versa (I won't spoil with the character name:)

Book Three rode the edge...waiting until nearly the end to reveal which way one of the main characters will go: forced into evil or willing to pay the price to remain good. Cool conflict throughout. never ending action. I was sad to finish, but it had a cool ending. Is there more coming? the ending seemed to leave a door open for another plotline with a different character?

I like paranormal stuff and Realm Shift mixes the usual epic fantasy quest with Demons as prime movers among the enemies Ethan must face. In fact, it is Ethan's special ability to "shift" from the physical world of men to the spiritual realm of demons and angels that makes him the focus of prophecy and everyone's attention. This power comes off in very interesting ways throughout the story as Ethan learns how to begin using his abilities, while on the run from soldiers and demons who want him dead before he can fulfill the prophecy. Demons can't see him in his physical form while men can't see him in his spiritual form...makes for some cool battles and fight/chase scenes...LOoking forward to reading the rest of this series!

OK this is a Trilogy so I would highly recommend buying all three because once you start reading this book you will want to read them all. The author was new to me but for a dollar I figured I'd take a chance. I brought all three books and was glad I did because once I finished the first one I had to know what was going to happen next. Is this a great work of fiction maybe not but it is worth your time. I would say the biggest issue I had with the book was the editing. It can be a little distracting when you find obvious typos but other than that the story moved along, the characters were well developed and I'll just have to wait to see how things turn out in the last book. Again I would recommend this book if you like the classic good vs evil story.

Get the next book in the series:The ORDER of SHADDAI (The Realm Shift Trilogy #2)

I really enjoyed the realm shift...the pace never lagged, exciting action scenes and charming characters I could actually care about. I highly recommend it for all ages! young boys will really get a kick out of it!

If you don't give a hoot about English, you might make it through these books. My comments refer to the first two books of the trilogy. Glad I only paid $1. for each. The author has an interesting story which is undermined by poor vocabulary and grammar. Examples: confusing reins with reigns, there with their, piqued with peaked, sleuth with sloop!! (yes, really!), using whom as a subject when "who" was called for (Ouch!) I could list more but I'd have to read the books again and that is not happening. Please, can't someone proofread these books and correct the errors?

I've been meaning to come write a review for this book for awhile. I read a lot of books that I don't bother to review, but this one stands apart.

I'm not sure if I'm getting pickier as time goes on, or if there are just fewer and fewer books that are able to keep my attention. Whatever the reason, I've been having a *really* hard time finding books that I want to bother to start reading, and even fewer that I actually bother to finish. "The Realm Shift" by James Somers was a rare treat in a sea of blah.

The main character is a teenager, and Somers manages to write him in a believable, likeable way (which is really saying something considering the fact that the character boasts spectacular powers-- and could easily be a shallow character). I actually cared about what was going to happen to him.

I also enjoyed the plot. Somers does a good job at pacing and keeping the story exciting. There's nothing worse than being engaged in a story and then the author slows the action/story down to relate mundane details (ex. describing room decorations ad nauseum, or wasting pages giving the menu for dinner). Somehow the author is able to have an economy of words. Enough to give you a vivid picture of what's going on, but not so much that you get bored or want to skim.

He also weaves a moral good story without being cheesy, trite, or heavy-handed.

To me a book is worth it, not so much based on cost, if its worth the reading hours I invested. Everyone's limited reading time is precious, and authors should not waste that time (neither should readers). Let me assure you, this book is MORE than worth it on both counts (money spent and time invested). I'm not sure exactly what brought me to James Somers page, but I am very glad I found it, and purchased this book (and am in the middle of thoroughly enjoying the sequel "The Order of Shaddai").

I am planning to check out many more of James Somers books and advise any readers that stumble across this review to do the same. - Horror - Demons - Paranormal Romance - Action'

Cast Aluminum - cast aluminum, outdoor furniture

I just received my two chairs! I just placed an order for two more! I did a ton of research on patio lounge chairs - pricing, quality etc. These chairs stand head to toe with restoration hardware, crate & barrel, pottery barn. They are the perfect weight.. not too heavy, not too light.

They look VERY expensive. WOW - sometimes I think these review are written by the manufacturer because they can be so glowing at times.. but I am just a customer so pleased that I got these and that they are this great. I was prepared to spend $555 per chair from Restoration Hardware.. but I got two for less than the price of one. Only other thing I would add though.. the cushions are not fantastic. I am thinking about ordering more comfortable ones with the all the money I saved. Strathwood Falkner Lounge Deep Seat Arm Chair, Set of 2

I purchased two chairs at first to test out the quality. I had been looking for a Wrought Iron patio set but I didn't want to pay the high prices I was finding. I really liked the chairs so I went ahead and ordered the WHOLE set! 2 loungers, love set, sofa, coffee table, side tables, and 2 more chairs. Honestly, I love the set! It's not your best quality but for the price I'm more then satisfied. They are heavy pieces but not so heavy you can't move them around. I had an issue with the sofa so I filled out the online return form and I'm telling you I have NEVER experienced the service I have received from Amazon. They processed a new order at NO COST TO ME and they will pick up the defective one when they deliver the new one. How great is that. Even Costco makes you purchase the new item first and then they will credit you once they receive the old item back! I order a lot online and I have to say Amazon has a great system.

I read all the comments of those who had ordered the pieces and decided that I would take a chance on this set and I couldn't be happier. I tend to be leary of ordering bulky items like this since returning would be a major hassle, but I won't be returning my set. The color of the set is a very dark chocolate color, borderline black. After reading some of the comments, I was concerned that the aluminum slates might be flimsy, but I am happy to report the slates are solid and not flimsy at all. I also was very impressed with how the set was shipped. The chairs come as a set in one box and shipped by Eagle USA. The packaging by Strathwood is very well done and completely protected within a very thick cardboard box. Even tho there is no assembly, it still took me 30 minutes to take all the wrapping of the sofa and chairs. I have to agree with other comments that the cushions do not appear that they will last very long (time will tell), but that was the least of my worries when ordering this set. I do recommend Scotchgarding the fabric.

These chairs (and the rest of the set) are fabulous! They are very very similar to sets sold by both Restoration Hardware and Plow & Hearth, but for a mere fraction of the price.

As others have said, I am not too impressed with the cushions, but the sizes are fairly standard so finding replacement cushions is pretty easy (and even after buying new cushions, the chairs are still significantly cheaper than those sold by other retailers). I recommend keeping an eye on the Restoration Hardware website. They have outdoor cushions on sale all the time, and if you happen to hit it when they first list a particular line on sale, it is easy to get a full set (dining chairs, lounge furniture, chaises, ottomans, etc.) I just bought fabulous replacement Sunbrella cushions from Restoration Hardware for six Strathwood Falkner dining chairs , 2 lounge chairs, a loveseat and a couple chaise lounges for roughly $600 in total. It would cost a small fortune at full price (over $2500!!), but on sale it was more than manageable. GOOD LUCK!

FOLLOW-UP POST: One season has passed and I still love the chairs. Another Amazon customer asked for details on the replacement cushions from Restoration Hardware. I bought the "Providence" collection pillows from Restoration Hardware. For the lounge chairs, specifically, the replacement pillows measure 24-3/8"W x 28-1/2"L x 5-1/2"H for the bottom cushion and 24-3/8"W x 16 "L x 5-1/2"H for the top cushion (they are currently on sale for $69 for the set, normally $295). They fit very well. If you happened to buy more than one pair of lounge chairs, you can buy a set of three pillow sets and save a little more money (listed as the "Sofa Cushion Set" at Restoration Hardware for $179, which translates to $59.67 per set). These pillows work for the lounge chairs and the loveseat as well (I am not sure about the larger sofa since I don't have that, but I am guessing it would be fine). I hope you love the set as much as I do.

THREE YEARS LATER: These chairs and the other pieces in the set are still fabulous after three years. I haven't had any of the problems that others have experienced with inferior joints and peeling paint. I leave the chairs on an open deck outside all year (in south carolina) and have moved them around a fair amount (banging them around in the process) and they look as good as the first day I got them.

I purchased this product in 2008 ( 6 club chairs, 8 table chairs, two chaise lounges and a table ) a year later the metal is expanding and deforming causing the paint to split and chip and the cushion covers frayed and fell apart after the first washing. I have tried to get the manufactuer's information from Amazon but was told they have no contact information but they are continuing to sell their product. I don't know if this is only the furniture that I bought or if this is a recurring problem. I would not recommend purchasing this product.

These are great chairs and well worth the money. The only grawback is that the cushions are just average, they could be thicker and the fabric lloks nice, but the quality is just ok. Still, they look great and even if the cushions need to be replaced or recovered after a 2-3 seasons, they are still a bargain. - Cast Aluminum - Strathwood - Patio Chair - Outdoor Furniture'

Headphones - headphones, x11

I purchased the X11 for use with Xbox Live because of the problem of being able to use a mic if you also play with headphones for game sound. It seems there is a distinct lack of headphone-mic solutions that have the proper size plug to fit the mic jack on the controller, and that also have independent chat and game volume controls (kind of important if you want to be able to hear chat over game sounds). Thanks to Turtle Beach and their line of headphones this problem is solved. I went with these because I don't mind a wired solution since I play at my computer desk using my monitor and distance isn't a problem.

These headphones work exactly as advertised. If you follow the directions and set your chat settings on Xbox to work through the headphones and turn the volume up to 10 you will not have any problems hearing voice chat without having to crank your chat volume to max, as a previous reviewer wrote. After a week and a half of using these for various games (mostly Bad Company 2) I would say the sound is decent and the controls work quite well. The game and chat volume controls as well as the mute switch are all on the little inline control box for ease of use. The cord is very long so even if you are sitting across the room it should not pose a problem. There is even a velcro strap for tying up excess cord. The earpieces are nice and big so they cover the whole ear instead of crushing your ears plus they are nice and soft, overall very comfortable. The mic boom is much better than typical ones found on other headsets. It's a little longer than most and flexes easily to get it exactly where you want, yet is sturdy enough to stay in place. The pickup on the mic seems excellent also, plus with mic monitoring playing a portion of your talk back into the headphones there is no need to shout into it.

I do have three gripes with these headphones though. One is that the cloth lining on the inside of the right earpiece ripped on the second day of use for no apparent reason. All I did was wear them a few times and just placed them on my desk when not in use. I have no kids or pets who could have damaged them. I fixed this by taking a covering off another headset I had, cutting it down a little and placed it inside the earpiece. I did this because the plastic that was exposed was bothering my ear and this solution worked great without degrading the sound at all.

My second gripe is that there is a constant hiss in the headphones when they are plugged into the USB port for power, even without the volume turned up much at all. I tested it on various ports on the Xbox and on my PC also and it remained. It is not overpowering and does not detract from game play once game sounds are going because you don't notice it over the game sounds. It's just a bit annoying during quiet times when you can hear it. I feel a wired version of headphones should not have this problem if proper noise reduction is put in to counter the powering of the amplifier.

My third gripe is that when I wear these for awhile and then place them down on my desk a blackish type stain is left behind after awhile. I think it might be sweat interacting with the dye on the headphones then dripping out. It is still doing this even after a week and a half of use.

Overall I am satisfied with the headphones because they do the job and fulfill a need for Xbox Live that most other headphones and mics do not, combining both into one. The gripes are minor except the hissing so I took a star off for that one. Otherwise they have decent sound, a pretty good mic, and are simple to use.

PROS:

+ Decent sound, certainly loud enough to hear both game and chat.

+ Very long cord.

+ Independent volume controls for game and chat, and mute switch, all in the same place for ease of use.

+ Excellent mic with great pickup so you don't have to shout.

+ Comfortable to wear long term with big earpieces to cover your whole ear.

CONS:

- The right cloth lining inside the right earpiece ripped, exposing the plastic (maybe just bad luck on my part).

- Seems to leak black dye from the earpiece, possibly interacting with sweat.

- A constant low level hiss when powered, not bad enough to overpower game sounds but still shouldn't be a problem on more expensive headphones.

EDIT (5-10-2011)

I have been using these headphones for over a year now and they still work just as described in my above review. I would have to say that speaks nicely as to their durability. Ear Force X11 Amplified Stereo Headset with Chat

I bought my X11s to improve my gameplay in Modern Warfare 2 and to play at night while my family is asleep. I am so glad that I did. They have accomplished both objectives with flying colors. The sound quality is excellent. I can hear absolutely everything, even the faintest sound cues I could never hear before. Just the ability to hear footsteps, the direction that they are coming and what they are walking on makes all the difference in multiplayer. Before ordering them, I read many reviews that mention a hiss when the headset is plugged in and was a bit worried that this might be an issue. There is a hiss, but it is so negligible that it isn't even worth listing as a con. Almost all the other reviews that I've read that mention this hiss also mention that you can't even hear it during gameplay. Doesn't that pretty much disqualify it as a con? Honestly, these things could play Home On The Range until I put my MW2 disc in the drive for all I care. There has to be absolute silence in the game in order to hear the hiss. As soon as any music or in game action starts, it is gone, in no way hindering your gaming experience. I also didn't have any problem hearing this hiss while using the X11s with my iPhone for music or YouTube. The ability to control both the game and chat volumes works very well. I've played several very long MW2 multiplayer sessions with friends and I haven't had any issues with my friends hearing me or vice versa. I love that when you raise the game volume, it automatically adjusts the chat volume so that the game audio doesn't drown it out. Which is a good thing, because these bad boys are loud as hell when you crank them up. I have literally jumped in my seat during unexpected explosions. The volume and quality of the sounds make for a very immersive gaming experience. They are also extremely comfortable. Most of the time, I can barely tell they are there, even when I've had them on hours at a time. My old headset sat right on my ears, which would make my ears very sore, very quickly. Overall, I have to give these a five out of five. For the price, they just can't be beat. - X11 - Xbox 360 - Headphones - Gaming'

Milwaukee - milwaukee, air tools

This is my third framing nailer. My first was a DeWalt D51823 which had cost me $275 and lasted 9 months. It misfired and jammed so often that it was barely useable. I replaced it with a Hitachi NR90AA which, along with the optional trigger, cost me well over $400. I used it for a couple of years and it rarely ever jammed nor misfired. I purchased a Milwaukee 7110 framing nailer to replace the Hitachi after it broke. At nearly half the price of the Hitachi and quite a bit cheaper then the DeWalt, I was worried that I might be buying something I couldn't rely on. Right out of the box, this nailer seemed like a VERY high quality tool. Very sturdy construction and with precise adjustments.

After 6 months of use, my worries are gone. This nailer is flawless. It has not jammed or misfired yet, which is extraordinary. It double fires on rare occasions, but only when switched to 'contact actuation'. It's very lightweight and rugged (easily brushed off a 15-foot story fall just recently). The ability to switch from sequential to contact actuation firing modes with a simple switch is ingenious (both my other nailers required disassembling the trigger assembly!). The depth adjustment works quite well (providing you don't use the non-mar tip) and firing is very smooth and balanced.

On the job, we use several Senco 701XP framing nailers. All of which have jamming, misfiring, and double firing problems, yet they cost $100 more then the Milwaukee. The Milwaukee is also the lightest of the bunch (7.0 lbs, compared to 7.5 lbs for DeWalt, 8.0 lbs for Senco, and a hefty 8.8 for Hitachi). The height is a bit longer (1" longer then DeWalt, 1/2" longer then Senco, but 3/8" shorter then Hitachi), but it has the shortest length and smallest tip, so it seems to get in smaller areas a bit better then the rest. Lastly, the air usage is a bit higher then the Hitach and DeWalt (.130 cfm for Milwaukee vs .072 cfm for DeWalt, .100 cfm for Hitachi, and .160 cfm for Senco), but that's a very minor concern for me.

One thing I would like to have seen is a case... I don't know why Milwaukee chose to leave this tool as their only air tool without a case to protect it during transit.

Overall, this is easily the best framing nailer I've ever used. Pair that up with it being the cheapest framing nailer I've ever used, and I can't help but solidly recommend this to anyone.

Also, I've seen a lot of erroneous information concerning who actually manufactures Milwaukee's line of air tools and the Rigid/Milwaukee relationship. Techtronic Industries (TTI) owns Milwaukee and Emerson owns Rigid. These are two entirely different companies and neither of which owns the other (which had been incorrectly claimed by another reviewer). Emerson has a deal with One World Technologies, a subsidiary of TTI, for Milwaukee to supply them with various tools to sell under their Rigid tool line, particularly Milwaukee's air tools line. These tools are 100% Milwaukee and are license to be sold by Rigid, with the only difference being the Rigid logo and body color. Milwaukee 7110-20 2- to 3-1/2-Inch Clipped Head Framing Nailer

I own four other tools from milwauke, that I have had for more than 5 years. They are very reliable and I love them. None of them pneumatic tools. I have 3 nailers, one a Porter-Cable and two Bostitch. Happy with both brands.

I went out on a limb when I decided to buy this Milwaukee nailer. They are not known for nailers and I thought they probably re-brand some other nailer. The price was right and it did say that it was magnesium housing.

It comes in a box, no case. My first impression when I picked up the box was that it felt that there was nothing in there.

But there is. For its size a suprisingly light framing nailer. Just the type I wanted. You also get a pair of safety glasses, throw those away, and a tiny oil bottle and couple of hex keys.

Easy to load, no jams so far, (used about 500 nails) and you can work with it all day long and not have a sore arm. I've used the single and continuous fire with no problems. I have used it in a house after demolition, with lots of dust and dirt around. I am used to just leaving my other milwaukee tools around on the floor and they have held up very well. This nailer is no exception, holds up well to abuse in on the site.

Overall an excellent nailer for the money, and if it is a re-branded tool, good choice Milwaukee!

Personally I've tried Porter-Cable and Hitachi framing nailer. Porter-Cable is heavy, you don't want to carry it for more

than 10 mins and is lacking some neat features like tool-free depth adjustment... Hitachi is light, but you gotta pay more bucks.

Milwaukee framing nailer is even lighter than Hitachi and at the saome time packed with features you wish for. Great nailer, buy it!

Lite weight framing nailer. Really like the single shot switch. Good for toe nailing without the double shot other nailers sometimes do. Been a carpenter for many years, found it hard to give up my hammer. Don't mind not using it as often now. Milwaukee took all the bugs out of framing nailers. Well worth waiting for.

These guns are great. I purchased 2 clipped head on one round head milwaukee nailers and they are all awesome. I have gone through 7000 nails in a month with no jams, or miss fires in any of the 3 guns.

I relied on the good reviews here on Amazon when buying this tool and I'm very glad I did. This is only the second pneumatic framing nailer I've used, though I've been doing woodworking and carpentry (not professionally) for over 30 years. I do have staplers and a nice Hitachi 16ga nailer, as well as a great palm nailer.

I switched to using screws for building my shop a few years ago and was pretty happy with the strength of the structure, plus the benefit that I could easily make changes as I went by just taking out the screws and re-doing it. This time I decided I didn't have the time and energy to drive that many screws, so I borrowed my brother's nailer. He's building a house next door and wasn't using his framing nailer at the time. It was heavy and kicked like a mule, misfiring often and turning nails into worms (though it may have been the low quality of the Chinese nails he had on hand). So I decided to invest in one of my own.

I thank all of you previous buyers for steering me to the best nailer I could have bought. It's light, soooooo easy to load and switch nail size, easy to adjust head depth... And for some reason the angle is and business end are just right that I had no trouble at all getting into tight spaces to deliver a nail exactly where I wanted.

Loading is so much easier with this machine than any I've seen. Most require opening hatches, unsnapping springs, etc. The Milwaukee just has a slot at the back where you drop in another clip and pull back an easy release on the side to push the clip forward. Removing them is as simple as pushing a button on the release that allows the clip to fall back to a spring stop, which you easily press and the clip comes right out the slot in the back... simple and ingenious!

Adjusting the head depth is as easy as turning a knob, because that's all you have to do.

But firing this baby is the neatest thing... it doesn't seem to be working at all to drive a full 3 1/2 inch 16d without any bounce, EVERY time... no misfire, no jam...PERFECT.

This tool saved me so much time on my addition I think it paid for itself the first week! Thank you Milwaukee and thank you Amazon for the great deal... and thanks again reviewers! - Nailer - Air Tools - Framing Nailers - Milwaukee'
