Frederic Delavier - anatomy, fitness

With over 450,000 copies sold, this book is arguably the best book of its kind. What's it useful for? Mainly to help the reader (from the weekend athlete to the athletic trainer to the professional bodybuilder) figure out what exercises work what muscles.

It's neatly divided up into sections (arms, shoulders, chest, back, etc.), so all you really have to do is flip to one of these sections and it will have detailed pictures of various exercises and exactly which muscles are involved.

A great reference to keep have around, I give it five stars easy. Readers who lift weights regularly might also be interested Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff to avoid shoulder problems a lot of lifters eventually get. Strength Training Anatomy-3rd Edition

Great book, very detailed. If you are looking to find new exercises to freshen up a stale workout, this is the book. It shows the exact muscle groups impacted by an exercise so you can focus on shaping and increasing that muscle group.

I bought the 2nd edition of this book well over a year ago when I was on a working out kick. Unfortunately life got in the way and I stopped going to the gym for several months, and even when I started back I only dabbled with cardio workouts. About 4 months ago I started back on weights and dug out this book. Prior to that I hadn't opened it. The book as it turns out had serious printing issues, making much of it unusable. It was long past the time frame in which I could have returned it to Amazon so I contacted the publisher, Human Kinetics, instead. Their customer service was excellent! They were aware of a small number of mis-prints that fit my description and were more than happy to replace it. The CS person asked if it would be ok if the replacement was delayed a few weeks until the 3rd edition was available which greatly pleased me. I received the new book about a week ago and it was in perfect condition. Many thanks to the HK folks for their fine customer service!

For those that don't already know what's in this book let me explain in detail. Everyone has seen the anatomy posters on the gym walls. The individual caricatures on the posters display a cut-away model of the human body sans skin. It highlights a muscle or group of muscles and then shows you an exercise that you can use to work that specific muscle. There usually isn't much more detail than that. Text is minimal. This book is at it basics a book version of those posters. However this book goes much, much further. The caricatures for individual muscles and muscle groups in this book usually have multiple exercise options. Text in this book explains in detail how to properly perform the exercise. It also provides useful tips on how to slightly alter the exercise to accommodate common injuries (ie, turn your wrists this way to not engage a torn wrist flexor). There are several pages of guides and background information on how to avoid certain injuries such as not fully extending your arms when doing curls to avoid tendinitis down the road. As another example the book goes into detail on how and why crunches should ALWAYS be performed with an inward curving spine (ie, fetal curve). This is to minimize the usage of the Psoas Major & Minor hip flexors and avoid the back injury they can cause. There are several excellent section of pure information in this book. The caricatures in this book are truly excellent. The artist did a fantastic job positioning and drawing the body to emphasize exactly what the reader needs to see and understand. The 3rd Edition also adds text on proper stretching among other things.

I highly recommend this book to every single person lifting weights at all levels. I've shown the book to friends, coworkers and people at the gym. I've even sung its praises to complete strangers in checkout lines and restaurants. I can't say enough good things about it. The only negative thing I can think of (more of a wishful thinking thing) is that it's only available in paperback. I wish it was also available as a hardback. Taking this to the gym with you will wear it out eventually. Of course for its low price replacing it is inexpensive. It's an excellent resource.

This book was recommended to me by my weight training instructor. She has a masters in kinesiology, and she used to be the US Women's National Volleyball Team, so I really trust her opinion. This book has great breakdowns of muscle groups and exercises for building them. The pictures really help emphasize which muscle groups are worked by which exercises. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in strength training.

This book is an excellent resource for anyone serious about strength training. Its illustrations are very helpful. It really helps you understand which muscles are being used during each exercise. It also gives good tips about technique, posture, and body types. It is also a good way to brush up on your human anatomy.

This book has great reviews so i won't go into the contents about this book. However i will comment on the most frequent negative (suggested improvement point) comments from the other reviewers. 1. This book doesn't fully explain form of the exercises described - Well its not supposed to! It however shows starting and ending positions and does talk about different grips. It does offer some suggestions on posture and variations on positions/grips which i found very informative. It also shows you exactly what muscles are targeted when performing the exercise in the mentioned positions/grip/posture. 2. Doesn't contain enough exercises for each body part - Are you kidding me! The book contains exercises that current pros use (Read Robert Keneddy's Encylopedia of Bodybuilding to see routines of the pros if you don't believe me). There are enough exercises in here. I'm sure future editions will contain more exercises. It also contains good advice on how to avoid injury which i found extremely useful. To get the most out of this book, use it as a reference guide along with either Arnold's or Robert Kennedy's bodybuilding books. Given that it shows exactly what muscles are being employed in different types of exercise, one can use that knowledge and experiment with low weights at the gym to hit the specific muscle and feel the pump! - Exercise - Bodybuilding - Anatomy - Fitness'

Wonder Woman Sleepwear - active pants, alkii

Sleepwear comes in two basic versions: Romantic and Non-R. These are definitely the latter. But oh my goodness, they are comfortable...soft as a cloud, light as a feather, and warm as a kitten. If it's a chilly night and the only thing you are cuddling up with is a good book and a cup of tea, these are the perfect pajama pants. But there is one caveat...they run big. Big? Try epic. And the darn things won't shrink down much either.

I say with some pride that I am the planet's foremost expert on "shrink to fit." I can judge to the nanometer the exact washer/dryer time & temp that transforms a Target t-shirt into one that fits like a French-cut Commes de Garcon. So I bought these Gilligan & O'Malley sleep pants in the largest size they had, figuring I'd sling 'em in the washing machine, boil the daylights out of them, dry them on "high," and end up with that perfect size...just a shade over medium...a nice loose, comfortable fit. Except they didn't shrink. Not enough, anyway.

On top of the lack of shrinkability, XXL is truly extra extra large. You could even throw in couple of extra "extras." Heck, you could pack a hippo into them and have room left over for William Shatner. I'm talking the biggest pajama pants this side of P.T. Barnum. Even the length is on a majestic scale. I always complain that sleep pants are too short. These I could pull over my head, pull the drawstring closed, and disappear. Which sometimes is a good thing. Anyway, because of the generosity of the cut, if you wear a medium and like your sleepwear to be very, very generous, buy a large and wash it in hot water. You'll lose less than half a size. And unless you play for the Lakers, don't go with "long." Still, it wasn't a total loss. I now have an interesting sleep outfit, I just pull it all the way up and Presto, an off the shoulders sleeveless pajama jumpsuit. As long as I don't wear it outside in a high wind, it should work. Gilligan & O'Malley® Modal-Blend Sleep/Lounge Pants - Heather Grey XXXL

I'm on the taller side and have been looking for comfortable, long pants for quite some time when I happened upon these Gillian and O'Malley lounge pants. These are the perfect pants for the days and nights when you just want to feel good, relaxed and comfortable. Mt only suggestion would be to go with the size smaller than what you would typically wear since these can run on the larger side, other than that I can assure this is a top notch buy and I will be buying more in the future and recommending them to anyone who is in need of the most comfortable pants around.

So, one of the disadvantages of being tall is that you can never find good fitting "home/lounge" pants. And frankly i hate those pants with wordings such as love/peace/hotmama either at the butt side or the thigh. These pants are awsome, I couldn't believe i found pants that are actually longer than my legs! very comfortable, long and flowy, non wrinkle and even sexy - says my husband :). Am 5'10 tall and 140 lbs. I bought these and brown pants in small-long. will be buying the rest of the pants.

I wouldn't consider these pants the kind you would leave the house in; they are slightly see-through.. But oh my! are they comfortable. They are definitely long- I'm 5'9" and normally wear an XL but I ordered these in L and Long-- if you're under 5'11" you DO NOT NEED LONG. - Sweat Pants - Active Pants - Alkii - Athletic Pants'

Memory Card - microsd, microsdhc

I've been impressed with the Sandisk 32GB Class 2 microSDHC card so far. I bought it with bulk packaging, which means it came in a small plastic clam shell case slipped into a little plastic envelope. There were no included adapters.

I'm using the card in my Android Nexus One cellphone. I've used a benchmark app on the phone to gauge performance of the card, and it is doing about 5MB/sec writes and 9MB/sec reads. This is with settings at 10MB test data size and 8KB write unit size. I saw similar write performance when the card was mounted on my PC via a USB 2.0 card adapter. These numbers indicate it's performing somewhat better than the minimum guaranteed for Class 4 cards, which is great. I'm coming from a 16GB Class 6 card and haven't noticed any performance hits, so far. SanDisk 32GB microSDHC Memory Card (Bulk Package)

I bought this to put in my new Samsung Focus Windows Phone. This card has not been certified by Microsoft to work with the operating system, but I have had no problems after a week. I didn't use the card in any other way before having the phone format it. The card performs well and I am sure that is would work admirably in a more tradition sense. And one more thing, the price was excellent for a 32GB card.

I'm no expert on data transfer rates, but in my new Droid X, this card has been great. Put all my music and movies on there, lickity-split, and has been chugging along with no problem. It might only be "Class 2," but seems superb to me.

As of December 2010, SanDisk has updated the Class on SDSDQ-032G from Class 2 to Class 4.

However, SanDisk is removing any mention of "Class" on non-ULTRA non-EXTREME card retail packaging in order to have the flexibility to package whichever class card the SanDisk factory sees fit. Unfortunately, SanDisk does not believe the average consumer cares about what Class designation is on the memory card, though many consumers do care.

Unfortunately, since SanDisk uses the same P/N and UPC code, there is no way to tell whether Class 2 or Class 4 will ship inside the package. This is compounded by not all vendors and fulfillment centers use FIFO inventory shipping standards and old inventory can persist for a very long time.

Customers seeking further information about this change may contact SanDisk customer service at 1-866-SANDISK.

I purchased this in order to give my HTC Incredible phone the same storage space as my iPod touch. This microSDHC card is perfect for that, and has given no issues thus far. Highly recommended for Android phone users (check to make sure your phone accepts microSDHC cards)

Got it in the mail, inserted it into my brand new Nook Color (32gb), plugged the machine into my computer and loaded books etc, got a "drive not ready" error while loading and could no longer see it in my computer and it failed to register on the nook drive dialog, so I took it out and used the adapter they sent with it and tried it on several computers in a newer thumb drive that does high capacity and windows wants to format it to 8mb! Sounds like defective merchandise to me.

Got this today and immediately installed it in my htc EVO phone.

Works great. Sees all 32GB.

I powered the phone down, carefully extracted the installed 8GB card, copied the contents from that card to this 32GB card, and installed the 32GB card and shazzam, it works.

Enough said.

Mine was sold by Prime 2 Daym - they appear to be labelling off-brand 4 GB cards as SanDisk 32 GB card and using a modified boot record to report them as 32 GB cards. Mine reports it as a 32 GB card, but when trying to load more than 4GB of data reports itself as out of space. This has happened in two different devices, including twice in my phone after resetting and reformatting. Complete and total rip-off.

I've been using this card for 3 weeks in the Samsung Focus, and it has worked flawlessly. I've maxed out the cards memory, used it, emptied it, and frequently tested the card, and it worked flawlessly without failure. I am glad I took the risk with this card.

Title says it all, works in my new Samsung Focus with Windows Phone 7. I know people have had problems with certain brands of microSDHC cards, but I slipped it in, reset the phone, and the system recognized it and made use of the additional memory. - Microsdhc - Microsd - Micro Sd - Sandisk'

Canon Black Ink - mp620, ink cartridge

I picked up a Canon MP620 as a new all-in-one for my printing needs at college. I prefer having paper in my hands to read assignments; it's easier to read than a computer screen and it gives me the ability to highlight important points. My Epson Stylus CX6000 wasn't getting the job done; the ink "ran out" too fast.

After printing about 350 pages or so in a month's worth of mostly black and white printing (yeah, it's a lot!), the Canon MP620 started to complain about running out of the PGI-220 ink. I rushed to buy this cartridge, fearing that I might run out of ink before it arrived. Well, it "ran out" soon after I got the cartridge. And... it's still printing just fine.

A great thing about the printer this ink cartridge runs on: you have the option to keep printing even after the cartridge's microchip estimates that the ink has run out. My old Epson printer did not give me that option, even though I knew ink was still left inside. 100 pages after "running out," the old cartridge is still running strong; I haven't even opened the replacement yet!

Long story short, you're definitely getting more out of your cartridge here than the microchip tells you. Just keep printing until it no longer prints! It's safe to say that you can get at least 500 pages out of this black cartridge, easy! The price you pay is nothing compared to the mileage you get out of this cartridge. Great value! Canon PGI-220 Ink Tank (Black) in Retail Packaging

I am the satisfied owner of two canon printers (Pro9000 and MP620) and am a relatively low volume, high quality printer user. I can't add anything specific regarding the quality or longevity of this ink, however I would like to point out that while the price is less on Amazon, Staples does have a very nice recycling program for used ink cartridges of all types. I would say that tossing these when they are empty may not be inline with Amazon's new greener packaging initiative, and return mailers (uninsured, and not tracked) may be a cost-effective way to improve overall user experience for this product.

I use this ink for my MX860, and I love how it has a clear body. When your printer says there is no ink left, there is NO INK! I never see a single drop left over from a used up cartridge. Also, I like Canon inks because they come with an LED that manually tells you how much ink is left. If the red LED blinks rapidly, then it means that there is no ink left. If is blinks intermittently, it is saying that there is less than 50% left.

I bought this ink because in the item, Amazon provides a drop down of printers that this ink cartridge works with. According to that drop down selector, it would fit my printer. I got the ink today, opened it up to put it in, and guess what? It doesn't fit. Now, because I have opened the item, I can't return it. I am very frustrated and wasted $15.

If you're like me, running your Canon printer on a Mac, you can save yourself a lot of headaches by setting your printing to Greyscale under the "quality" settings when you go to print something. These tanks last a while, unlike the color ones.

I could have gotten it cheaper at Walmart, but who really wants to venture in to the wild wild Walmart when I can get it for a buck fifty more from the comfort of my own lazyboy? It lasts long enough to keep me happy, it's easy to use, and other than the buck fifty more than the same product at Walmart, I can't complain... and for me that's saying a lot. I complain about everything. - Cannon Ink - Mp620 - Canon Black Ink - Ink Cartridge'

Subwoofer Cable - subwoofer cables, home theater

Before I was using one lead from a really cheap stereo RCA cable to go to my sub. I decided to go with a better cable to see if it made a difference. If it made a difference I can't hear it. The cable seems to be well made (much better quality than the cable I was using) but I guess you don't need a high quality cable to carry those low frequencies well.

I used Monster cable to connect my 3 front speakers and cheaper cable going to my surround speakers and I could not hear any difference going to the thicker Monster cable either. Don't get me wrong, my system sounds fantastic: I just did not hear any improvement by going with better cables.

Yamaha RX-V765 Receiver

2 x Polk Audio Monitor 70

2 x Polk Audio Monitor 50

1 x Polk Audio CS-20

1 x Sony Sub Mediabridge Ultra Series - Dual Shielded Subwoofer Cable - RCA to RCA Gold Plated Pro Grade Connectors (15 Feet)

In order to receive the best possible sound this type of cable should always be used. Ths same goes for all your speaker connections. The better the gauge the best your speakers will sound. I have read some reviews complaining about interferece with their new subwoofer. I think this may be a result of using the cheap wire that comes with the speaker. If your going to buy a new speaker why not buy a quality cable to enjoy it with. The Mediabridge Dual Shielded Cable is well built, and my new sub sounds great with it as my connection.

Can't say enough about the quality. Don't waste your hard-earned money on advertising hype and packaging. Go with this product--high quality look, feel and sound without the inflated price of accessories from the "big box" stores--you can't go wrong.

This wire is very similar too the very expensive "Monster Cable" This wire has very nice gold plated prongs, and is a very thick cable compared to an AV. One of the problems most cheap sub wires have, is the wire they use seem "Cheap, or thin" This wire for the price seems to be very heavy duty and I can already tell you get your moneys worth. Works excellent with my sub, Highly recommend for the price!

I had some doubts about this cable up front because the product description seemed to be focused on audio (primarily speaker) use and I was intending to run video signals over the wire. After hooking it up it is handling the video without any problem.

The cable is very flexible and well made. The end.

This wire is amazing. Compared to the cheap one I bought for 3 dollars this is exceptional. With the cheap wire too much base was being channelled to the reciever, but this cable seems to even out the base with the speakers. I wish I had this cable 2 months ago. - Audio Cable - Audio Cables - Home Theater - Subwoofer Cables'

Pampers - toddler, diaper

I am a stay at home Mom with 4 children. I have been buying diapers for the past almost 11 years and Pampers Baby Dry is hands down the best diaper on the market, and believe me I have tried them all! All of my kids have been "super soakers" when it comes to pee. These diapers way out perform any other brand including major brands and department store brands. The major selling points for me are:

1. They are thin, easy to pack 5 in a diaper bag.

2. Easy to unfold with one hand (if you, like me frequently have to use the other hand to keep baby still)

3. tabs are easily opened without extra unfolding and don't rip off like several other brands.

4. Doesn't leave residue on baby or smell like pee when really soaked.

5. wider in the front to prevent baby from peeing out the side (and my kids are experts at this)

One thing that may be helpful is to remember that Pampers fit better on children that are long and skinny. If your baby is short and really chubby in the bottom, then Huggies will fit your baby better. This, I believe, explains the few complaints about Pampers not fitting or leaking.

Hope this review was helpful!

I made the huge mistake of buying the baby dry after reading through the reviews. I thought that for the price, why not try them. What a huge mistake! I should have just bought a smaller amount to try them first. Instead we have been using these for over a month now and I have had to clean up a poop spill at least every other day. My baby was 4 months old when we started using these and since she is not eating solids yet, the poop is pretty runny. The baby dry don't absorb the runny poop and it tends to just go right up the back side of the diaper onto her outfit and usually whatever or whoever she is lying on. It's just not worth the money saved! I will only buy the Swaddlers from now on. Hope this helps someone wondering which to buy Swaddlers or Baby Dry, DEFINITELY go with the SWADDLERS!!

It must depend on your child because I tried the cruisers after always using baby dry on my son and they failed us several times. I went right back to baby dry and no more leaks. I have also tried other brands and I loved Huggies for my daughter but they don't work for my son. Funny how each is different. I am a mother of 4 and Luvs worked for my other son. You just go with what works for your child. I also have noticed that they work differently for different ages as well. Good idea to try a few out before you buy the jumbo packs.

Like other reviewers suggested, the size description is wrong. My five month old is about 15 lbs and a perfect size 2, and this size 1-2 is only up to 15 pounds. I'd say it fits up to size 1 1/2 comfortably. Pampers sells a size straight size 2 in smaller packs. Pampers diapers are great; easy to re-strap if you don't do it right the first time. The smell is pleasant, and the design cute sesame street characters. I recommmend, just make sure your baby is just barely out of size 1 to get this size 1-2!

I used to use the more expensive Pampers Cruisers but thought I'd try the Baby-Dry to save some money. I bought a pack at a local store first to make sure the fit and performance was good. I liked them just fine. Nice stretchy tabs, much like the Cruisers. So I ordered from Amazon. I ordered three cases to take advantage of a promotion Amazon was running. But the diapers I received must be old stock, before Pampers put the "flex" stretchy sides on the Baby-Dry diapers. The older expiration dates on the Rewards code confirms this. Maybe they've gotten rid of the old stock; then those newer diapers would rate 4.5 stars. These non-flex diapers barely close to fit my baby whereas the flex ones were plenty big. It irks me that Amazon posts a picture of the "flex" diapers and delivers a different, inferior product.

I love Pamper's Swaddlers. I've tried Huggies and both Pampers brands, and out of all of them Swaddlers are my favorite. That being said, the Baby Dry diapers are terrible. With Swaddlers you can adjust the fit, and the diapers are really soft. Baby Dry diapers feel like they're recycled and and I really dislike the sticky waist straps. They're shorter so you can't adjust the fit as easily, and the waist is always loose--with a boy that's a very bad idea because he tends to get his clothes wet through the TOP of the diaper instead of the sides now. I can't wait until we use these up because I will never buy Baby Dry again.

I have three children in diapers. My oldest is 4 years old and is autistic. We have not been able to potty train him yet.

We tried several brands only to find out that Pampers Baby Dry was always the one we went back to. No question! No leaks! But the cost of our diapers just adds up. Amazon has the absolute cheapest price I have found - in stores or on-line. And free shipping, and I got (...) off with a promotion for baby items over (...) prurchased. I made out! And never had to leave my door! Thanks Amazon! Really! - Diaper - Baby Dry - Toddler - Disposable Diapers'

Pants

These pants are light and comfortable, but the material is very, very thin - just about see-thru thin. The fabric may hold up well, but I'm not planning on wearing these out of the house, the material is just too sheer for me to feel comfortable in public with them. The pants I got are the oxford color, which is not 100% cotton, so other colors might not be as bad. These do have a very polyester feel. Russell Athletic Women's Workout Essentials Pant, Blackness, Medium

I bought these on sale for $9.99. I also bought a pair of Trecento Women's Yoga Pants for $7.89. I prefer these. They have a comfy, loose fit that doesnt hug your leg. The size is true also. An XL is an XL, versus the Trecento's XL which is more of a L. The material is thin but feels sturdier and will probably take more wear and washings than the Trecento pants. They arent as sharp looking as Trecento's but I plan on buying more.

These are wonderful for wearing around the house, working out and even on those days of running around doing nothing but errands. They are so comfortable that I am going to get more in various colors.

These pants are very true to size, the XL I ordered is VERY large, a little too large for me, and I'm not tiny, but that's okay because I use them for lounging around the house or for working out. They offer plenty of freedom of movement. The fabric is thin enough to be comfortable but thick enough to be cozy, I got them in the darker graphite color so I had no problems with a see-through effect others complained about. I like them, but I think I'll get the large next time if I order more! They aren't gorgeous or very flattering to the figure, so I don't recommend wearing them in public, but they suit my needs. The main problem is that the rise is really long, so if I pulled them up to fit in the crotch they'd be up under my armpits! I'm average height and I'm sure shorter women might need to know this, unless they want to wear them as a jumpsuit!! All in all, worth the ten bucks I paid.

These comfortable pants are perfect for lounging around the house or exercising. I am pear-shaped, and found the fit to be loose, not clingy. Other customers have commented that the fabric is too thin. I ordered a pair in black and can't complain. Incidentally, these pants are almost identical to the Russell Women's 1X1 Rib Open Bottom Pant.

I originally bought a pair of these Russell pants at my college bookstore many years back -- they are a lightweight, jersey knit material. Some reviewers felt they were way too lightweight, because they were expecting them to be sweat pants. THESE ARE NOT SWEAT PANTS! They are literally pants made out of T-SHIRT MATERIAL. If you want thick, fleecy material, look elsewhere.

I find them to be SO much more comfy than sweat pants. They are loose and a bit baggy. They have a drawstring that you'll probably never use because the elastic waist (which is perfect - and narrow enough so it doesn't "roll") keeps them in place. They are not long in length, but I actually find them to be perfect, because I don't hitch the waist up to MY waist -- I always wear them pulled somewhat low (beneath my belly button). But then if I need to take my dog outside and the ground is wet, I'll hitch them up higher so the pant legs don't get wet. :-) The waist also can be rolled/folded over well (which I know is fashionable especially with teen girls these days).

I am 5'8", and about 180 pounds. I wear the XL, but I also once bought the L when XL was sold out, and it wasn't much smaller, as I recall. I wear them frequently (at least twice a week), and they usually wear out in about 2 years. Do they last as long as sweatpants? No. But they are SO much more comfortable, it's worth it! I also think they're more flattering, because they are loose and have a lovely drape to the fabric -- almost like 'harem' pants.

A note about colors -- I own both the graphite and the black. The black (which is 100% cotton), shrunk a bit in length after washing and drying, and now they're a bit on the short side for me. The graphite (poly/cotton blend) has NEVER shrunk -- I HIGHLY recommend the graphite color because of this. They wear better and wash better. They do not fade in color. Normally I would think 100% cotton would be better, but trust me -- with these pants, get the poly/cotton blend. They still feel like 100% cotton anyway, and they wash/wear better.

I absolutely LOVE these pants, and I was so psyched to find them here on Amazon! You won't be disappointed with the graphite color's poly/cotton blend -- it pretty much goes with everything, and washes/wears beautifully.

Trendy looking. I bought these for my teen daughter, she's a "beach babe" and she is always looking for something she can wear when the sun goes down and she can just pop it on top of her bathing suit (bottoms). Yes, the fabirc is thin, but it's not THAT thin, it similar to the thickness of men's undies (think: white briefs). She rolls the waistband down once, and because these pants ARE huge they look like flowey hipster pants. Pair them with a pair of Haviana sandals and a form-fitting top and you have an authentic South Beach look. She has worn these pants THREE DAYS IN A ROW so you can guess how much she likes them (and she's normally a Juicey Couture velour sweats type).'

3 Button Suits - suits, made in italy 2 button suit

I need to preface this by saying that just a few weeks prior to buying my first suit from Darya, I had purchased a $1000 Ralph Lauren suit from Dillards on sale for $[...]. Then I discovered Darya Trading through a link on [...] and looked at their suits, but was very leery about buying a SUIT online. A million things could go wrong, right? But after going through all the suits listed, the WORST review I could find was a 4/5, so I decided to take the chance, thinking it might be worth the gamble on return shipping. I bought 2. When they arrived three days later, I was floored! They were GORGEOUS and fit like a glove! They're all made in Milan (my RL suit was made in China - seriously), they taper beautifully, the fabric is literally smooth as butter, and much of the finish work is done BY HAND!! - I can't say enough about them. Then I took them to my tailor for the trousers to be hemmed. He asked me how much I paid for them and his jaw literally dropped. "This is a G. Valentino suit! This is MADE IN ITALY! This suit would cost ME over $[...], and I would have to sell it for $[...]! You paid HOW MUCH!?" Then he pointed out all the fine detail and hand-work on it, while he kept shaking his head in disbelief. Then he said sadly, "Someone is losing a lot of money on these. The economy is so bad, I'm sure someone is buying a warehouse full of them just to move them out."

Well long story short, I purchased the two and after they were tailored and worn, I couldn't stand it and bought two more. . . and I have my eye on TWO MORE! I own three Valentino (wool/silk) and one Luciano (wool/cashmere). After hemming all four pair of trousers, the tailor said the Valentino suits would EASILY equate to a Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss or other New York Designer. But he said the Luciano was crafted so well being fully canvased with genuine horsehair and most of it was made by HAND, he said it was every bit as fine as a Georgio Armani and he could easily sell it in his shop for $[...]. I've had the suits a few weeks now and have been hesitant to rate them here because I've been wanting to keep them a secret for my friends. But they're all buying them now too, so it's time for the secret to get out. Anyway, I'm completely sold. Here are four suits I can honestly say are worth MORE than every penny I paid. Darya, THANK YOU for some incredible bargains!! Gino Valentino Made in Italy Wool / Silk Mens Suit 150's Hand Made Two Button Canvas Front Jacket Flat Front Pants Custom Working Buttonholes Business Suit Dark Navy (46 Short)

I was skeptical when I ordered this suit, but I figured at $150 for a suit, I really didn't have much to lose. These suits are an absolute steal at this price. They're well made and have a sharp look. I am slim, so I can't respond to the one reviewer who found the fit to be tight. I ordered the 40L, which is my normal suit size. It comes with 34 waist pants. I will have to have the pants taken in a bit to get the right fit. Due to my height, I almost always have to buy suits with unhemmed pants, so I typically am not able to go into a department store and buy a suit off the shelf. (For some reason, they all seem to think that people with a 32 waist cannot have a hem length over 34 inches.) Some retailers are now even limiting their online supply of unhemmed suits. It's getting to the point that I can't find suits except at a boutique shop, but I can't stand overpaying for anything, especially clothing. I am ecstatic to find an awesome suit at such a good price. Thank you, Darya!

Most of my suits are custom made with high quality fibers and craftsmanship. I have purchased a total of six suits after I received the first three and saw that they are equal in quality and craftsmanship. My custom made suits cost around $1,800.00 each and these range from around $100-$135. Now that is one of the best value purchase I've ever made.

Let me start by saying that I am 6' 2" about 225lbs. I bought this suit in a size 52R which comes with pants size 44 waist.

The suit arrived one week after I bought it, in a flat brown "box". It was not wrinkled, but it was not wrapped by anything to prevent it from being soiled, if the box was.

The suit looks good. It looks to be of good material (very soft wool with a nice sheen to it) and well made. However, this suit is not for everybody.

The price tag on it of $1449 is ridiculous. No way it sells anywhere for that price. It is worth the $149.00 they sell it for. The claim the suit is made in Italy, but I don't know how to dis-proof that, and it does not have such label. It might be designed that way, but I doubt it is made in Italy

Here is the problem I encountered with it. I have a large frame for a body. I normally wear a 50R, and rarely 50L size suit.

Being made as an Italian cut, I figured it would be a bit smaller than American cuts. Well, it is a LOT smaller cut. While the jacket barely fits, the pants, after being hemmed, just do not fit. The pelvic area is way too small. The leg portion of the pants is so tight, you can barely move, walk, or God forbids..sit down. The pants are very uncomfortable.

The jacket has no pockets on the outside. I never use these pockets, anyway, but just having them look like pockets is pretty weird looking!

I looked into some alterations, but there was not enough material to enlarge the legs or the jacket. And even if there was, it would cost more than the suit itself.

So my verdict is that this suit might suit a slim body. If you are a six footer and about 180lbs or so, this might be for you. but not for this guy. - Suits - Made In Italy 2 Button Suit - Great Value - Made In Italy'

Kindle Devices - ebook, drm

I grew up in the UK during the Britpop era, TFI Friday, and Chris Evans on the radio and telly.

When I emigrated to the US in 2000 I read the rather poor unauthorized biography 'Freak or Unique' on the plane, but this book obviously contains more reality. It's right from the horses' mouth so to speak, and I couldn't put it down.

Having seen the antics of the Ginger one on TV and radio I was fascinated to hear it from his perspective. After all, he lived a life less ordinary. He went from a working class paper boy to one of the biggest celebrities in the UK, rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous, ultimately marrying the beautiful Billie Piper.

Sadly the story ends right after he bought Virgin Radio from Sir Richard Branson. Yet to come is his famous melt down, retreat from public life with his young bride, and eventually his redemption.

I've always been a huge fan of this interesting man whose antics brightened the early 90s of Britain for us 20 somethings. If you remember the Blur vs. Oasis war and TFI Friday, you'll probably love this book. Just be prepared to buy the sequel due out at the end of the year to find out what happens next.

I read my copy on my iPhone, and like another reviewer said, there are no pictures on the Kindle iPhone version. But then it was cheaper and for me it didn't spoil the experience. It's Not What You Think

This Kindle edition has all the pictures missing, on my iPhone at least. It reads like images are an integral part of some bits of the book, as sometimes there's just a gap and what's written doesn't make any sense. Not the end of the world but I'd expect better for the price.

I live in the UK now and I'm a big fan of Chris Evans but I didn't expect to love the book as much as I did. I just couldn't put it down. It's been years since I had a book that kept drawing me back as soon as I walked in from work each day. I read it every moment I had until I finished it. Anyway I've just ordered his next book and I'm sure it will be as terrific! What a fascinating book and man! - Drm - Ebook - E-reader - Kindle Devices'

Verizon Wireless - bluetooth headset, jabra

I have a Droid X, and I bought the Clipper for very specific reasons. I've had very good mono headsets in the past (I liked the Aliph Jawbone the best), but I realized that I was talking on the phone through the headset less and less, and I was becoming very frustrated with wired headphones to listen to music and podcasts on my phone. So, I was looking for the best combo of serviceable phone headset and good music headphones, and the Clipper not only fits the bill, but is by far the lowest cost solution out there (that I could find, anyway).

The pairing and use of the Bluetooth has been very easy and no better or worse than my experience with any other modern Bluetooth device. Once paired, the Clipper has worked very well with my Droid X (both with the phone and for music with mspot or DoubleTwist), as well as my laptop, using different audio programs (Windows Media Player, VLC, etc.). As for the two main criticisms of the Clipper in the reviews (quality of earbuds and use of the clip), I've had a much better experience than many reviewers.

On the earbuds, I will acknowledge that these aren't anywhere near what you'd call high quality headphones. However, I think some of the reviews have exaggerated this. Maybe those people had fit issues, or maybe they've improved the earbuds slightly in a revision of the product (although I'm not sure why you'd "upgrade" your product from "horrible" to "mediocre"). In any event, my take on these earbuds is that they're far from the best, but they are OK, and definitely serviceable if you've lost your favorite earbuds or until you can buy a better pair.

I will say that fit is everything with the earbuds. They come with three sizes of tips, and I had to try various combinations to find the right fit (medium left ear, small right ear). If you don't get a good seal in the ear, you definitely would find these earbuds "dreadful" or "crappy," as some reviewers have. However, if/when you do get a good fit, you'll find that they are your typical, cheap earbuds. Muddy base and lacking in defined highs. But, as I said above, they'll get you through an afternoon if you don't happen to have your regular pair with you. Mids are fine, and voice calls on the phone are good with the included earbuds. Again, though, it's all in the fit.

As for the clip, I can see how some people might have issues with it. I've had no problem fitting it to any part of my clothing by holding the closed end between my right thumb and forefinger, prying the open end apart slightly (and CAREFULLY!) with my left forefinger, and using my right thumb and forefinger to hold the clip open as I slip it onto a collar or pocket (belt, strap, whatever). If you don't have strong fingers, though, this might be a deal killer for you. It does take some strength to hold the clip apart. And, as someone above said, if you just try to push it onto a shirt collar or pocket, it can be difficult get it onto stretchy material.

Because I haven't found the same problems with the earbud and clip as others have, I would say that I'm very pleased with the Clipper. The sound with my Sennheiser CX 300 earbuds is great. The call quality is very good, and the mic picks up my voice well when the clip is attached and I'm speaking normally. And, in my opinion, the best feature of all is that the part of every Bluetooth headset that frustrates most and fails first (the earpiece) is entirely interchangeable, so this solution should last much longer than any Bluetooth headset I've had in the past. Jabra CLIPPER Bluetooth Stereo Headset

So at the gym, have seen countless people on the treadmill drop \ yank their wire tethered phone or music device off the console. To an end where either they have the device broken, wiped out trying to catch it or just look like a disaster.

This solves that problem having the little Clipper in the pocket, hanging from dog tags or clipped on and has great sound. The clip is pretty tight do if you clip it on don't take it off when you are in motion.

I use it with my Droid X

Verizon still has it for $49 with free shipping at:[...]

Bought this to use with an Android phone and cassette adapter in my car - both for music and as a handsfree speaker phone.

The sound quality is decent, and what people need to realize is that the bit rate is set by the device connecting to the clipper. The clipper is 100% capable of high bit rate, quality sound - but many A2DP devices (such as some phones) are not.

If your phone is set to a lower bit rate or mono - you will get horrible sound through the clipper. Google "a2dp setting" and the name of your device to see if you can raise the bit rate.

All that said, the sound does frequently drop out for no explicable reason. I can have the clipper sitting on the seat right next to my phone and the sound will still drop out. I may update this review if I find a fix, but for now I'm just dealing with it. - Bluetooth - Wireless Headphones - Bluetooth Headset - Jabra'

Playstation 3 Controller - dualshock 3, controller

Well folks, now that the dust has settled from the Sony vs. Immersion lawsuit, Playstation 3 owners are finally able to feel the vibe again!

I purchased this controller today and I knew the only way to properly road-test it was on the game that made the Dualshock famous, Metal Gear Solid. After booting up the game, I walked down the hallway and got spotted by a guard. As he shouted, "WHO'S THAT?" the controller jumped in my hand - and I knew this was a smart purchase. As the guards shot at me, I felt the feedback of the bullets, just as I had 10 years ago on my Sony Playstation.

I picked out another old school Playstation game, Tenchu: Stealth Assassins. From Ayame's blades to Rikimaru's sword, each sword swipe and jump had excellent feedback.

Okay, so my Playstation games worked out. But what about my Playstation 2 library?

I popped in God of War, knowing I had to feel the swing of the Blades of Chaos. The controller vibrations felt a little lighter here, but the vibrations still occurred at the appropriate times.

Then I chose Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction. Who better to test a vibration controller than the Sultan of Smash? All the power jumps and smashes had the vibrations intact, but they still felt a little on the light side.

All right, so far I was two for two with my Playstation and Playstation 2 test subjects. But what about my Playstation 3 games? Could I possibly hit a trifecta?

I put in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and I decided to jump right into a heated firefight. The controller gave me feedback while shooting weapons and getting hit by enemy fire, but I knew my purchase was justified when Drake was near death: I FELT THE DUALSHOCK 3 PULSING IN SYNCH WITH DRAKE'S HEARTBEAT. It's one thing to hear that noise and know he's near death, it's quite another to feel the pulse in my own hands.

Okay, so the feedback on the older games was there, but a little lighter than I remember. The reason? Well, when I decided to go wireless on my Playstation 2 system, I bought a Logitec Dualshock controller. It turns out, that controller takes two "AA" batteries, and the vibration motors inside the controller handles are slightly larger than the ones in the Dualshock 3. That's where I felt the difference.

The Dualshock 3 vibrations may be slightly less than the Logitec controller, but it doesn't require the purchase of batteries.

The Dualshock 3 may be slightly heavier than the SixAxis, but it doesn't take up any extra space at all.

Sure, the price is about $15 more than the SixAxis, but it's a worthy upgrade for the Playstation 3 gamer who kicks it old school as well as new school. The only other drawback is the lack of an additional USB cable - but we can use the one that came with the system itself.

So what's the final verdict?

Order it, plug it in, charge it up, and get ready for the inevitable downloads from the Playstation Store to make the older PS3 games Dualshock 3 compatible.

I wouldn't recommend a feedback peripheral without providing my own feedback...

Enjoy! PlayStation 3 Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller

I was already extremely happy with the Sixaxis controller, but I could not resist getting the DualShock 3. Not only do you get the rumble, but also, it feels much better in your hands, even for those games that do not use this feature. The rumble function is fun, but on top of that, it helps with gameplay, because "feeling" what is happening provides a lot more feedback than just watching how your character or car reacts to the environment.

The biggest surprise of all was that the rumble works with PS 2 games in the PS 3 system. I am currently playing through "God of War", a game which had the rumble capability in PS 2. I thought that it was unlikely that I was going to get this feature with this new controller in the PS 3, but it worked perfectly.

I know that having to buy a new controller and basically discard the one that came with the system is not the ideal situation, but I have to say this product is really worth shedding the extra bucks.

The Playstation 2's highly regarded DualShock 2 controller was considered by many to be the best videogame controller of all time. So when you've got a winning design there's no need to change anything. However, because of a legal battle with Immersion over rumble technology, Sony was forced to offer their Sixaxis controller without rumble. The Sixaxis had the same Dualshock design but it felt too lightweight and cheap. Thankfully the lawsuit has been settled and rumble has come back to the Playstation.

For the most part, the DualShock 3 is almost identical to its PS2 precessor. But it has all the features of the original Sixaxis controller in addition to rumble. The controller is still wireless, can be charged by plugging it into your PS3 (or PC), rumble is compatible with all PS1 and PS2 games, and the PS3 supports up to 7 controllers at the same time via bluetooth. Rumble in the DualShock 3 seems more responsive in regards to the location of its vibration depending on which side you get hit on during the games. I don't know if this is something in the design or if it's the developers doing it for the games but I welcome it.

All in all this is currently the best designed controller on the market right now. The PS2's DS2 was incredible so "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here. I'll be enjoying rumble in my PS3 games from now on. - Controller - Dualshock 3 - Playstation 3 Controller - Ps3 Controller'

travel converter - travel converter, voltage converter

I bought one of these for a trip to South America. Was looking for something compact that I could use for a portable fan, battery charger & netbook. Overall, it worked flawlessly and the compact design (plus additional plugs) will make it useful for other trips abroad. Only negative was the weight, which seems to be a fact of life in these products. One caveat: You do have to pay attention to the manual 50/1600W settings. To its credit, Simran makes it very clear what settings work for what devices. Simran Dual Wattage Foreign Voltage Converter/ World Travel Kit

I bought this product in 2002 for a trip to Germany. I've since used it in Europe, Africa, and South America, mostly to keep camera batteries charged. It saved me a few times, like when the plugs in southern Spain were different than the north. I recommend this for any world travelers.

Bought this 2 years ago - and it works perfectly for converting US devices to Europe devices.

You have to be careful though with the 50w and 1600w option. The device fuse will break if you do this wrong setting - so be sure to have additional fuses in your travel bag.

I bought this converter because I was going to France and wanted to charge my cell phone. As soon as I tried to charge it, I realized that the converter, even though it said that it was for Europe, did not work in France. I have since returned this item.

I originally purchased two of these, took forever to arrive in Kuwait via APO AE. By the time I got them I used them twice and they overheated and melted the plastic housing. They would be great if they work but they dont. Unable to send back cause of the crappy return policy. Treat these like the plague.

Hi,

i have never wrote bad review.

and this is the first.

i bought this Simran unit for 900W product and it just doesn't work.

i tested it with multi meter and found that the 1600W option

return between 40V-70V instead of 110V-120V.

the 50W option works fine.

bottom line if you need to use it for product with more than 50W

this is just doesn't work!

save your money.

I ordered this before a trip to China, but since my husband and I travel a lot I wanted something with multiple plug converters so we could use it again. After reading the reviews, I gathered that as long as I didn't use it with a curling or flat iron (which btw it clearly states not to use it with in the product description) I would be fine. Sure enough it worked great! It is a little heavy, but I like how it comes in a compact case that contains all the plug converters and the power converter. Exactly what I was looking for and a good price. It will definitely be used in the future as well! - Voltage Converter - Travel Converter'

Pull Up Bars - pull-up bars, chin up

The assembly is very sturdy. The welds are all nice and clean. The paint quality looks good in dark metallic gray, almost black. The grips are covered with high quality foam and there is also a textured finish underneath the foam. It came with all the hardware I needed for installation. This pull up bar feels rock solid. Very good purchase. Ultimate Body Press Joist Mounted Pull Up Bar

I told a buddy of mine, who is a Doctor, that I planned on using the joist mounted pull up bar and he told me to use with caution. He recently had a patient who broke his femur because the joist snapped. I noted the caution and mounted it as high as I could so I wouldn't sacrifice the integrity of the joist.....just watch your head on the joist behind you!! I have been using this product for 4 weeks and I have had no problems although I pay attention as I use it. I don't have the "hammer" bars on the pull up...with as high as i mounted it, I dodn't think you can use them. Good luck.

It was very easy to assemble in one solid piece.

Mounting it require some time and tools. In my case the joist is 8" thick so the bolts in the package did not work for me. They are designed for 2" joist. However I got 4 big screws (6" long, 3/8) from my local hardware store for total $2.40 and mouned it with some pre-drilling.

Handles have comportable foam and you don't need gloves when using it. Love it.

It would be nice if the height is adjustable.

I keep recommending this product to my friends.

I've been using this bar for a few weeks now and it's incredibly sturdy. It's mounted in the basement on a floor joist and while it's a little cramped at the top, it hasn't stopped me from doing kipping pull-ups using this bar. I had no trouble mounting it and never worry about it moving on me.

This bar works exactly as my son and I hoped it would. It is very sturdy and the padded grips are comfortable. Instructions were clear.

As others have mentioned, mounting it directly to a floor joist makes it easy to bang your head on an adjacent joist. So I made an extension to hang the bar lower and avoid head banging. It would be nice if the bar included extensions so you could hang it lower without having to make the extenders yourself. That's the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5.

The pull up bar looks nice, and I would normally give it 4-5 stars, but the 4 main bolts that attach the pull up bar to the joist are too short!

Joist = 1 1/2"

Pull up bar = 1"

2 washers @ 1/16" each = 1/8"

Nut = 3/8"

Total of above= 3"

Bolt length: 2 7/8"

And, this also assumes that your joist is perfectly square/uniform. There should at least be 1/8 - 1/4" extra, which would make the bolt 3 1/8 - 3 1/4 ". Thus, the bolts that are shipped are ~3/8" too short.

I went to the hardware store to buy longer bolts 4 * 2.20/each = ~$9.50 with tax. I plan on contacting the manufacturer/seller.

Edit: after contacting Amazon, who sells this, and requesting some kind of partial refund or new bolts, all they offered was to return and repurchase. Why would I do this if I would expect to get bolts the same size? Rating now downgraded from 2 stars -> 1 star. - Chin Up Bar - Chin Up - Chin-up - Pull-up Bars'
