Brioni Made In Italy - linen suits, summer suit

I bought this suit online. I was a little leery at first, but after receiving it today, the cut is great, I am normally a 38 r and I took a chance and bought a 38s. It fits nice, the lining inside is good, and the fit is great!. I went to Nordstrom to look for suits, and the linen suits they had for three times the price weren't even as nice. Inflatable Sailboat - boat, raft

I debated long and hard between getting the Excursion 5 and the Seahawk II. I wanted a boat that I could immediately take out and go rowing, but one that is durable (sometimes there are branches sticking up in the shallow river here) and comfortable. I also wanted to get a boat that I could eventually mount a motor on in the future.

After reading tons of reviews -- and going to the Intex website and other forums -- I bought the Excursion 5 because some forums said the Seahawk II doesn't have motor mount points (this is not true -- it would be nice if Amazon's site would specify this) and some people on here commented that the Excursion 5 is made out of the same "Super-Tough" material as the Seahawk II (this is also not true, but it's very confusing and even the Intex website doesn't make it clear. The Seahawk II is more rigid, can be inflated to higher pressure, and is more puncture-resistant because it is actually a 3-ply system including Super-Tough PVC OVER a nylon fabric layer -- neither Amazon nor Intex website make this clear. I found out through the Cabela's website)

As soon as the Excursion 5 arrived, I realized I had bought the wrong boat for rowing my girlfriend and I around. The boat is too wide and oars too short to really reach into the water well, and the oar locks are fixed in place -- not rotational like the Seahawk II. These two factors make the boat nearly impossible to row.

I immediately ordered the Seahawk II and have taken it out and it is great to row around in (comfy for 2 people, I don't see how you could fit 3.) I thought about what to do with the Excursion 5, and I've decided to keep it because it is a bigger boat and seems like it could be fun to take a larger group (up to 4) people out on it, once I get a motor and mount.

So I want to set the record straight if you are debating between these boats like I was:

1) The Seahawk II is more rigid and durable than any other Intex boats except the Mariner. The Excursion 5 vinyl is nice and thick, but it's still soft and I am still concerned it could rupture if I hit a branch or rock the wrong way.

2) Many of the Intex boats have motor mount setup, including the Seahawk II -- the Excursion 5 can only support up to 1.5 hp because it is not as rigid (the Seahawk II is rated up to 2 hp and Mariner up to 3 hp)

3) The Excursion 5 is a bit bigger, so if you need to fit 3 or more people, it might be the boat for you.

4) Don't expect to go rowing in the Excursion 5. Get a narrower boat, preferably with rotational/swivel oar locks. Maybe if you had 4 people paddling (with an extra set of oars) the Excursion might work okay. Intex Seahawk II Boat Set

A couple of months ago we wanted to go rafting down the Truckee river in Lake Tahoe, but they wanted to charge us $35 per person and it was already late too. So we decided to come back some other time with our own boat and gear. About a month ago, I bought a Seahwak II inflatable boat from Amazon and some life saver vests for my boys. I had no previous experience rafting down a river, so I wanted to be cautious. The weather forecast was more windy and colder than the day before. However, after 3 and a half hours of rafting we made it! There were times when I thought the boat was just gonna break from the rocks and tree branches hanging on the river. Other times when the river became more aggressive we just hold to the boat really hard and the boat did pretty good. I was really impressed that at the end of the trip after hitting rocks, branches and bridges columns the boat looked like new. We saw other boats almost full of water and just about to die, but our boat looked just fine. I would highly recommend this awesome boat.

This is the best inflatable boat. Very stable, i have a minn kota 55lb trolling motor and they are great together (you will need the motor mount, you can make it or buy it). None other boat under 400 can out perform this one, except the Intex Mariner perhap. But that one is too heavy and expensive. However, like an inflatable, rowing is a challenge. If you want this infltables to last, DON'T OVER-INFLATE, DON'T LEAVE IT UNDER THE SUN MORE THAN YOU HAVE TO.

Pros:

-Easy to pump up

-Can sit on sides of boat without tipping over or water getting in

-Can stand up in it though probably not recommended

-Good quality material...survived an entire day of being scraped over large river rocks

-Good for the price

-Large enough for 3 people to be comfortable

Cons

-You won't be getting it back in the bag after you take it out. You will have to buy a bigger bag, or carry/drag it inflated.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

We took this boat over smaller rapids on a river with a lot of rocks. Very sturdy and didn't feel like it was going to turn over at any time.

Overall I think this is a great buy. The only bad thing I can say about it is the bag. - Boat - Raft - Boating - Intex'

Steve Madden - steve madden, pull-on

I bought these boots and glad I did. They are very comfy and cute, love the heel because it gives me height without the pain of other heels. Bought them in purple which is true to the color shown here. I also went up a 1/2 size just to make sure would have some room for thicker winter socks that way I would be able to wear them all year around. I do think that my size 7 would have worked too, but still rather be safe than sorry. Hope this is helpful. Naughty Monkey Women's Turnout Wedge Boot,Grey,10 M US

I loved the look of these shoes. It was the studs that sold me (they are not buttons....I thought they buttoned in the back. No biggie). I bought the black ones although I must confess the purple ones tempted me as well. I am still considering getting those. I was a little bit disappointed when I opened the box and picked up the shoe. Yes they are suede, but they aren't lined. So if you live in a particularly cold or rainy climate, like I used to in Oregon, you might end up with cold wet feet (I am pretty sure you can expect rain water to drip into the boot since the opening is pretty wide.

I wear a 9 1/2 normally, but when I purchase boots, I always order a ten since I know that I'll be wearing them in the winter and I'll be wearing them with medium weight socks (not thin but not super thick). I tried these on with summer socks and they were still a bit snug. They fit my foot like a glove which is nice but that often means if i have to put on heavier socks to keep warm, my feet could get cramped and hurt. Thank god I live in California now!

So basically this is a really cute shoe, the construction is "OK" but not great and I wouldn't wear them if you plan to be standing outside in the cold or in the rain unless it's from house to car or visa versa.

One last thing, I like my heels HIGH. These have a 3 inch heel supposedly but they felt like less to me which will probably make them more comfortable. I didn't really mind.

Otherwise, I like these shoes and I still might get the purples one too.

I love Naughty Monkey shoes and while these boots are really cute, I can't really get them to work with any outfit. I purchased my normal shoe size and they fit fine. They are comfortable and sexy, but when pulled over skinny jeans/pants they give the effect of having huge ankles. It might work better on someone taller. Sadly, I have only been able to wear them under jeans and dress pants, but they are of good quality and fashionable. I got the purples ones because I have plenty of black and brown boots; the purple is pretty purple, possibly also contributing the difficulty of putting an outfit together.

These are lovely easy boots to wear. Fantastic price & colour goes will loads of items. They are a dark grey colour and the suede is tightly packed. The leather with the studs is quite thin, so the edges can curl up a little. I like the idea of rolling them under to show off the wedge more. The wedge is very curvacious and should be seen. A great casual boot. Only downside would be the top is quite wide and noticable when worn with skirts. Overall, a great buy!

These boots are fantastic! I fell in love with Naughty Monkey after buying the detective boots (A very similar, yet taller version of these). The suede is very soft and thick without feeling too bulky. Great quality for 30 bucks! The black stacked heel is like a wedge heel and makes these very easy to wear for hours at a time. Plus, the height is PERFECT at 3 inches. The toe area is rounded and slightly raised so toes have plenty of wiggle room. I usually buy a size 8.5 in boots to allow room for winter socks, but the size 8 fits perfect with a thick sock. These are pull-on boots, which some have complained about being too narrow/ difficult to put on. I can't see that at all. For a normal sized foot and ankle, they slip on very easily. As another reviewer commented, the studs on the bottom of the suede can be hidden by tucking the suede under - making these very versatile, like two pairs in one. PLUS, naughty monkey includes an extra pair of rubber heels in all of their boots- awesome for the price! I am going to definitely buy another pair or two, before they sell out completely. FANTASTIC purchase, very pleased! Also ordered these at 5pm Thurs, received them Friday morning, even though I didn't opt for one-day shipping. Thanks Amazon!

I received these boots and LOVED them. They matched a jacket, I had bought, perfectly. But, alas, I couldn't get them on. They were too tight across the ankle and my foot wouldn't go into them. I showed them to my friend before returning them and she LOVED them too. With a bit of extra effort she was able to get the boots on her feet. Once she got them on they were very comfortable and looked great. Now my friend has a beautiful pair of boots and I have a matching jacket.

She gets a lot of compliments on her new boots and I get told I should get some boots like Donna's. :-( - Steve Madden - Pull-on - Comfortable - Boots'

Surround Sound - upconvert, home theater

What a great sound system. Fully capable Dolby Digital ProLogic II surround sound (meaning the speakers can independently play the correct sound on each one depending on the program whether it's a DVD or TV show broad casted in Dolby Digital Surround sound and HDTV.) Put in a Dolby 5.1 surround sound capable DVD or TV show and it sounds like you're sitting in a movie theater. You will hear things in shows you've watched before that you never know were even there. It's amazing, and this unit delivers.

Couple of things you will need - an optical audio cable for premium sound. (RCA's not only won't sound nearly as good but I don't believe they will allow the Dolby Digital 5.1 to work properly.) Also, you'll want to buy a HDMI cable to hook up the unit for DVD playing. The optical cable, assuming your TV or cable box is capable, is a necessity. I used RCA audio cables for a few days before buying an Optical audio cable and the difference is night and day.

Also, the rear speaker wire isn't really long enough to properly mount the two rear speakers where they need to go. I bought an extra roll of speaker wire and lengthened them so that I could mount them up on my walls, running them through the attic, under about six feet of carpet, and to my 46" Samsung 1080p LCD TV, with all of the wires hidden. All of the speakers have a plug on the end so even if they are long enough for your application you'll have to drill a 3/4" hole in the wall to route them through your attic. Or you can just cut the wire, run it through, then splice it all back together.

I'm a beginner at this stuff, first time I've ever done ANY wiring and only the second time I've ran wires through my attic. It took a few hours but it was well worth it. The extra 100 feet of speaker wire only cost me about $10 dollars (didn't use all 100 feet obviously) and an eight foot Optical cable was about $15. An HDMI cable will run you about $40 dollars for a six foot cable. But if you have an HDTV, you MUST use an HDMI cable for the DVD player and you MUST use an Optical cable for the sound. If not, you might as well just stick with your TV speakers you already have.

One thing - Comcast universal remotes do NOT support this unit, which was a big turnoff for me personally. Instead of being able to control everything with a single remote I now have to use the Philips remote just to control the sound. But again, with the absolute superb sound, quality of the entire unit, and ease of install, it is well worth it all.

If I had to describe this unit in one sentence I would say it is sound in HD, just as HDTV is video in HD. I gave it five stars for sure but if I could change anything I would make the "plugs" on the end of the speaker wires removable (for routing through walls,) make it compatible with a Comcast remote, and that's about it. Otherwise, it's very well-priced...a ridiculous value really...you get your moneys worth and then some, very easy to install (unless you're like me and you want ALL of your wires hidden, which requires a bit more labor but is still VERY easy.) I looked into wireless rear speakers and not only are they extremely expensive ($500+ or more) but they interfere with wireless Internet connections and the sound quality is compromised by interference. Wired is the ONLY way to go and Phillips delivers!! Philips HTS3371D/F7 DVD Home Theater with 1080P HDmi Upconversion

I bought this on the internet, but Model HTS3372 at Wall Market is the same and even better value now. We had trouble understanding what people were saying in movies on our LCD TV, before we bought this. Now we can hear clearly at much lower sound level. The kids can now watch a movie and hear it while we play cards just a few feet away in the kitchen. The remote controls the iPod also so we can skip to the next song if we want. The included DVD player works great. The small speakers make it easy to install without taking over your whole room. The small wire easily slides under the carpet without showing so that you can install the rear speakers. The plug in on the end of the speaker wire can easily be removed with a toothpick and then replaced after you run the wire under the carpet. My wife who is not into such things normally just loves it because it sounds so good and is easy to hear even when turned down low.

I bought this Home Theater because I already had some Philips computer speakers, so I knew this is a good brand in terms of audio electronics performance.

In summary, I can tell you that this system is awesome: it is very loud, and it looks much more pretty than in pictures, both the speakers and the console. There are some nice rounded egdes for the speakers and the bass is bigger than shown in pictures. The speaker cables are long and transparent, so it shouldn't be a problem when setting them up across the room. The iPod docking station works pretty good and the DVD upconversion is a nice feature too.

I bought this mainly because I really like music, so I got this connected to a Creative Labs SB1090 USB Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017QQQAE/ref=ox_ya_oh_product) via an optical TOSLink Cable. The sound is just amazing, with clear sound and a very powerfull, non-distorted bass, which is very important to me.

It is very nice to have the opcion to switch to 5-Channel stereo, so you can listen your MP3s using the 5 speakers.

All my friends and even my dad (which is not into the technology thing) has seen and listen this system and they said they are planning on getting one for themselves.

I really recommend this product to anyone.

I received this stereo/DVD system as a wedding gift and have since hooked it up to my TV and blue ray for awesome surround sound. It is easy to assemble, I am not very good at assembling things and I had everything together in about 30 minutes. This comes with adequate amounts of small wire for my living room (about 20'X25') and is a very versatile product. I plan to run through the ceiling and mount the speakers but haven't gotten around to it. The buttons are really easy to use and although there may be a couple second delay when switching sources, I have noticed that with many electronics that have multiple sources and it doesn't bother me.

THis product's sound is amazing! I have never had it past level 20, and I don't think my house or my ears can take much more than that- I have turned it on pretty loudly and walked outside my house just to see if I can hear it through my walls- I can. It's loud!

Also it's super easy to set up Ipod-either using the deck which charges it, OR just using the aux port. Both worked great for me.

This product is also a great DVD player, no complaints about that. Don't notice too much of a difference between my blu ray player and this on my 42 inch plasma. I used it with both an RCA cable and a HDMI cable. My untrained ears/eyes didn't notice a huge difference between the two. HDMI will give you better audio and video quality. An HDMI cable does NOT come with this set-up. - Home Theater System - Dvd Player - Home Theater - Upconvert'

Makeup Remover - cleansers, smooth

I have acne-prone skin and have for years overscrubbed and medicated to get my skin clean but hate the drying harsh effects of all that. Been using this for about a week and it's incredibly gentle but still suds so I feel it's cleaning. Doesn't strip my skin. Minimizes pores (not a miracle but definite difference). Leaves my face very smooth but not tight feeling. Looking forward to trying "Skin Genesis: Pore Minimizing Skin Re-smoother" for even more pore-minimizing and overall smoothness! L'Oreal Paris Ideal Skin Genesis Pore Minimize Gel Cleanser, 8-Fluid Ounce

I bought it here because I couldn't find it in the regular department stores anymore. It works to make my pores smaller and skin healthier all around. It doesn't do much for dark spots so don't buy this thinking it will help with that. It's safe and soft for even my sensitive skin. It also has the added bonus of removing ALL makeup in one gentle wash!

I wish I had taken a "before" picture. Then it would be easier to prove to myself that I'm not just engaging in wishful thinking! My skin is smoother, feels softer, and my pores are much less noticeable. The scent is not strong enough to be labeled "envigorating" but it is definitely uplifting--a bit of a mood enhancer. About six weeks ago I began using the L'Oreal Skin Genesis Pore Minimizer Gel Cleanser and Olay Regenerist UV Defense SPF 15. I'm quite pleased with both of these affordable products.

Olay Regenerist Regenerating Lotion with UV protection. Packaging May Vary, -2.5 fl oz

I really really love this product! My face feels really clean after using this, and my pores are definitely getting smaller and smaller. I will continue to use this for a long time from now on! I should also add that my face doesn't break out anymore, which is simply amazing. Awesome product, L'Oreal!

This product is great as it removes eye makeup as well as leaves my face feeling clean without a heavy lotion feel. I heard that this product is being discontinued so decided to order multiple bottles. - Cleansers - Face - Smooth - Skin Genesis'

Cult Classic - horror, zombies

Confused by all the Army of Darkness DVD releases (some in print, some out of print, some lingering halfway between)? I know I was. But I've done some research and figured it out, and here's how it breaks down:

1. The original DVD release-- was the original theatrical version of the movie with few extras. Good picture, good sound, S-Mart ending. If you just want to watch the best available version of the movie, you might get this one (if you can still find it; it's out of print now). It also has the familiar movie poster cover with an overly muscled Bruce and the hokey "Low on gas" slogan.

2. The director's cut-- with the silly Molly Hatchet cover and the original ending. There are many minuses: key lines are changed (not necessarily for the better). Much of the footage looks really horrible, including the entire concluding battle. All the deleted scenes have the feel of an eBay-purchased bootleg. Bottom line: AOD fans will like to see the material, but this is hardly the movie's best presentation. It's still circulating but they're not making any more of them.

3. The special edition-- probably the best DVD release of the movie to date. The 2 disc version (which, like the director's cut, is nearing the end of its availability) is great. It features both the watchable theatrical version and the borderline-unwatchable director's cut. It has commentary, unlike every other release, although the commentary is only available when viewing the director's cut. It has a making-of featurette.

The single disc version (now the primary version of AOD available) is only a slight downgrade; basically, it's the theatrical release, lookin' and soundin' fine, with the original ending as an extra, and the making of featurette also included. (The commentary is sadly missing.)

In summary: You can't go wrong with the single disc special edition or the even better double disc special edition. Avoid the director's cut unless you already own the original DVD and just want to see all the new footage in all its grainy glory. The original DVD is a fine purchase if you just wanna watch the movie, already.

2009 edit: to clear up some confusion in comments on this review, I wrote this eight long years ago. "Army" probably has five new DVD editions since then, and I'm sorry to report that I don't care enough to keep buying and comparing them. My experience so far has been that they keep releasing new versions with little regard for what people really want. In my eyes, a definitive version would be:

1. The main feature would be the theatrical version, fully restored and anamorphic.

2. Deleted scenes and the alternate ending would be cleaned up and well-presented as extras - I know this is possible because I own an Australian DVD of the movie that has them looking a lot cleaner than I've seen on all the older American versions. It would be also great if they had a menu option to watch the theatrical cut with some of the deleted scenes added back in - in particular the longer (and more cohesive) windmill battle with the mini-Bruces should never have been trimmed down; I'd love to see that in full as part of the movie. There's a cut that plays on some TV channel (AMC maybe?) that includes this scene, but unfortunately other parts are changed to their detriment - not a great trade-off. I think most fans of the movie prefer the original version of the movie - the S-mart ending, the original one-liners, etc. - but don't mind seeing some additional scenes thrown in.

3. Commentary, making-of featurette, etc. all included. The track record of this stuff on previous releases has been very spotty.

4. And finally do it right - put this version (probably a 2 DVD set) in print and get rid of the other ones, and KEEP it in print. Fans are tired of re-buying this movie just to find out that it's the same damn thing with a line or scene changed... if that. Let's tie a neat bow on this thing and be done with it. I'm as big a fan as they come and I stopped buying the new DVDs a couple versions ago.

2011 edit: Go to this page for a detailed look at all the notable Army DVD editions, including the ones I have not covered (be they Boomstick, Screwhead, or whatever else Anchor Bay/MGM/whoever has decided to foist upon this movie's beleaguered fanbase): [...] Army of Darkness

For the sake of clarity, I just want to say that there is no way I could review any version of Army of Darkness without giving it five stars. It is a modern classic which I can watch over and over again. Seeing the Tiny Evil Ashes take on Ash causes me to laugh out loud with every "My fair lady."Having said that, I can't imagine why they are releasing yet another SE DVD set of it. I own the 2-disc Limited Edition which came out a few years ago. I can't find anything different about this new "Boomstick Edition" that isn't on the old Limited Edition. Both have the original theatrical release and the director's cut with 15 additional minutes of footage. Both have the Men Behind The Army featurette. Both have the Raimi, Campbell, Raimi commentary. The only thing I've noticed so far is that the Boomstick edition comes with some kind of 10 page collectible book which my LE set didn't have. But unless they made some drastic changes to either the video or audio to clear up imperfections which I never noticed in the first place, I couldn't justify buying this new edition. But if you don't yet own Army of Darkness, don't be a primitive screwhead. Click on the Buy It Now link and get it.

Ok, for those who are wondering, this "bootleg" edition is simply the Director's Cut version without the Limited Edition numbers on it. Don't worry, it's not an illegal copy, more like an "Official Bootleg". It was done so that fans who missed out on the Limted Edition can still get the DVD and all the extra goodies. I for one am glad they did so because I happened to miss out on it myself. The cover is done as if someone made an illegal copie and used a brown paper back to cover up the liner. It has handwriting-like text on it in what appears to be a few notes from Bruce "Don't call me Ash" Campbell. The actual DVD inside is done up like a DVD-R (Not Really Recordable) and is very humorous. It contains the exact same movie and features of the LE in the exact same quality. The commentary from Sam, Bruce, and Ivan is hilarious as was their commentary from the other Evil Dead DVDs. That in combination with the deleted scenes and the original ending make this a must have for those who want the whole story. This is the version of the movie that was originally done before they were forced to shorten it to 81 minutes and alter the ending. So if you missed out on the Limited Edition DVD then this is for you. This is definatly one for the fans out there. - Cult Classic - Comedy - Zombies - Horror'

Egg Poachers - kitchen, egg poachers

Although it is not clear, this product comes with the large pan, the aluminum poacher cup holder, 6 non-stick poacher cups, and a glass lid. Make sure to use cooking spray in each poacher cup and you will love it! We have made eggs benedict like never before! Excelsteel 18/10 Stainless 6 Non Stick Egg Poacher

The pictures are a little deceiving. This is not really very high quality construction at all. It's typical cheap Chinese manufacturing.

I have no doubt it is made of stainless steel but the handle is thin, hollow and stamped to the edge of the pan. The pan itself is also very thin. When I put this in the dishwasher, water collected under the knob on the lid so I had to take that apart to let it dry.

It would certainly not be suitable to give to anyone as a gift but it probably would work ok for infrequent use.

Finally, a poacher that has more than 3 or 4 cups. This makes it a lot easier to feed more than one person at at time! This pan is very well made, not flimsy at all. If you spray the cups with Pam, the eggs slide out effortlessly. It's also great to be able to pick each cup up individually making it easier to put them on the plate. I love it and glad I purchased it.

I bought this egg poacher as I was having trouble poaching eggs the old-fashioned way for my family of 5. As other posters have mentioned, as long as you spray the cups with oil (I used olive oil spray), it does the job quite well. My two complaints are that I haven't figured out how long to cook the eggs (probably my fault, but maybe a result of the weird shape?) and that the eggs end up shaped like little upside-down cups. This may be the price one pays for poaching 6 eggs in one pan at the same time. It makes my eggs benedict very tidy, but it's hard to pretend that they came from a fancy restaurant. The little cups are a little hard to clean as there are lots of nooks and crannies. On the whole, I like this pan as it gets me done with breakfast very fast, but if I were a stickler for tradition, it wouldn't work.

I have searched for a good egg poacher for a long time, my family eats poached eggs almost every morning! The six cups are great and the eggs come out easily, we use oil spray. The only drawback is that the handle on the lid gets rusty, because when washed water gets in there. I have taken it apart to clean the rust out, so I believe it needs a better sealed handle.

I expect that when I cooking product has non stick in it's description that it would indeed be NON Stick. Even with butter or spray on non stick coating, eggs are difficult to remove from this poacher. If I could return the product, I would.

Look for another poacher if a non stick coating is an important feature for you.

I finally received this item yesterday. I used it for the first time this morning for poached eggs. My eggs stuck as if they had been glued in place. I don't understand. I read the directions which only said to wash with soap and water, which I did. The whole idea of the non-stick is so I don't have to use oil or spray.

Please let me know what you suggest. Sheri

The pan is of very good quality. It's stainless steal construction is very light weight, so I wouldn't try frying in the pan by itself, but I'm sure I'll come up with something else for the pan to do; steaming veggies maybe. The egg cups are also stainless steel with a nonstick coating. These release eggs perfectly with a light coating of PAM. Finally, all the egg cups can be removed at once using a little nob in the center of their holding tray (that's my favorite part). I honestly couldn't ask for more in an egg poaching pan! And it just made the best Eggs Benedict I've ever made! - Poacher - Egg Poachers - Kitchen'

Capacitive Stylus - stylus, iphone stylus

It works! You can definitely poke stuff on the screen and it responds. However, I sought a stylus for my iPhone because of the drawing apps. I wanted to be able to doodle on my iPhone in my off time without the tribulations of using my thumb for accurate sketching. This stylus works wonderfully when you poke the screen, but the rubber tip clings to the screen when you drag the stylus (even worse if you have a screen protector on there, even the oleo-phobic ones). If you're looking to use the stylus to thwart all those nasty fingerprints from normal use, you've found a decent product for such a task at this price; but if you want to draw with it or use it for games, I suggest finding another. Bye Bye Blemish - skin care, blemish control

I have been a Licensed Practical Nurse for almost 20 years, as well as suffered the juvenile and occasional adult acne problems. I came across Bye Bye Blemish by accident. I have tried the usual products with Salicyclic acid and Benzoyl Peroxide, both of which are drying, create redness, and take forever it seems to treat acne. Normally, in my experience they make the problem much worse before better. Bye Bye Blemish is made with Sulfur. It has a pink sediment at the bottom of the bottle and an alcohol mixture at the top. You DO NOT want to shake the bottle and mix it EVER!! Wash your face with a gentle cleansing soap, such as Cetaphil (another wonderful product!) or even DOVE soap (very gentle on the skin...and non-drying!) Both, recommended by my personal dermatologist as well. Next, take a q-tip and place into the bottom of the Bye Bye Blemish bottle, ensuring you get the pink sediment on the q-tip and place on the pimple. you want to do this as soon as you notice a red area, soreness, etc. before you get a whitehead if possible. If so, the Bye Bye Blemish will work that much faster! Also, if you use it before getting a whitehead, the pimple will not get as sore and come to a head at all! It will simply dry up over the next 24 to 48 hours and go away!! Another key to keeping the skin clear is using a good moisturizer, such as Oil of Olay. Even if your skin appears to be oily, it may actually be dry! A good moisturizer will help balance the skin's PH level and maintain a nice, smooth, young looking appearance! If your Bye Bye blemish bottle begins to run low on the clear top and still has plenty of pink sediment, I add some alcohol and continue to use it until the sediment is gone. It still proves to be as effective for me. This is the best product I have ever used for acne and it does work! I have recommended it to hundreds of people during my years of nursing. i have no problems telling people what products work and which ones don't! Trust me, this will be the best money you have ever spent on an acne product! Bye Bye Blemish Drying Lotion - 1 fl oz

I purchased this drying lotion since it was cheaper than another product at Nordstroms - it does help with those huge pimples that seem to pop up right when you have an important event to attend. Hopefully your significant other doesn't mind seeing you with pink dots on your face at bedtime. - Acne Treatment - Skin Care - Acne - Blemish Control'

Large Screen - large screen, gps

History with GPS Navigation:

I've used built-in Honda (Alpine), standalone Garmin, and Ford 'Sync' audio GPS navigation devices.

I loved the Honda navi for its size, and I hated it because updates were sparse and expensive.

I loved the Garmin for being up-to-date but I hated it because it always seemed to change its mind a lot, or direct me into strange areas.

I didn't really care for the Ford Sync navigation, as it wasn't a visual navi. Included for free with the car, but I choose not to use it. Maybe only good as a 'back-up' in case the TomTom fails-- though I don't think it ever will.

I sold my Honda and needed a new navigation system.

I bought the XXL 540TM for...

1) Screen size

2) Frequent map updates (4x a year + Map Share)

3) Ability to customize it (lots of settings to play with)

4) Well Known & Quality (I've always heard 'Garmin' is the best, but when I've tried Garmin, I didn't like it!)

5) Lane Guidance

6) IQ Routes (figuring out which roads were best to use)

By the way, in case you were wondering the "TM" stands for "Traffic" and "Maps", indicating there are free traffic and map updates. I had NO problems entering the "Lifetime Maps & Traffic" code provided.

What's in the box:

-> GPS device itself

-> Window mount (with suction cup)

-> Dashboard 'sticky' pad

-> USB cable (to connect to PC)

-> Car Power adapter

-> Set Up Guide

-> Slip of paper with 1 code, valid for Lifetime Map/Traffic updates

The first thing I did was hook it up to my PC and run all the updates. (A newer map was available + GPSFix + Map Share.) It took about 1.5 hours to update all of it. After it was done, it took up about 96% of the 2GB built-in memory. (I didn't check how much it used before updating.) Not a lot of 'wiggle room' to add more features. No built-in SD slot to add memory, either.

One major downside is that I don't like how easily the device 'pops off' the windshield mount. (See further explanation under "The BAD" below.) I am considering getting a (non-adhesive) weighted/padded mount to put on the dashboard.

The GOOD:

+ Screen size met my expectations. Easy to see everything on the screen

+ Startup time (including time to lock onto satellites) seemed fairly quick

+ Roads were up-to-date and labeled properly. Didn't find any errors

+ Allowed me to customize just about everything I wanted to.

+ It functioned perfectly as a Navigation device. This is where I felt Garmin was lacking. With all the features a Garmin has, it never seemed to 'navigate' the way I liked. Of all the features, the 'Navigation' is the most important, and TomTom does it well from what I've seen.

+ It pronounced some 'hard to say' roads perfectly! I'm sure I'll find some that are not right, but Garmin/Sync had a hard time saying road names.

The "OK":

+- Traffic is only updated by RDS (sent by local FM radio stations). This is what I paid for. RDS updated only major roadways (Interstates) and marked some accidents / road construction / road closures. It only worked when the power cord was plugged into the accessory power port on the car (as the cord functions as the antenna.) I would have preferred TomTom's GO/Live line of products which has a built-in 'cell phone' to grab more detailed and current traffic information. But, these were out of my price range. The XXL 540TM does "just enough" traffic to make it useful.

+- It takes some time to calculate a long distance route. But, I also know that it is using IQ Routes to choose the best roads. It seemed 1 or 2 seconds longer than it needed to be, but certainly not a huge problem.

The BAD:

- Internal memory not expandable. 96% used up without any 'extras' installed? Hope I don't need more...

- When browsing maps (dragging my finger) it is a bit 'laggy'. I don't expect perfection, but it seemed sluggish. Fortunately, I don't plan to browse maps often, so I'll deal with it. I tried turning off Points Of Interest (POIs), and turning off 3D maps (using 2D maps instead), and it really didn't seem to make a difference. I'm impressed with the detail it showed, but wasn't thrilled about waiting 10 seconds for the entire screen to finish 'drawing'.

- Windshield mount seemed to 'pop off' too easily. When suctioned to the windshield, I have to use 2 hands to 'hold' the GPS and keep it attached to the mount while I adjust. I suppose it is useful for people who leave the mount stuck on the windshield. I prefer to remove the device AND the mount and hide them when not in use. (I figure a thief will know that the mount is for a GPS, and that the GPS is hidden in the car somewhere.)

I have yet to try this out on a LONG or COMPLEX road trip, but I have no doubts from what I've seen so far that it will be just fine.

OVERALL, I'm happy with the device. Happier than I was with Sync, Alpine, or Garmin. I consider myself an 'Average' navigation user (not a beginner, not an expert) and will update the review after using it more.

Sidenote: I ordered through Amazon, using "Beach Camera" seller. It was delivered ONE (1) business day after I ordered it! I used 'Standard' shipping, and FedEx (Home service) had it delivered fast. Very pleased with Beach Camera's shipping emails and speed!

UPDATE 11/18/2010:

I thought I'd provide an update after 6 months of using this TomTom device:

1) I am still very happy! It's the 1st GPS I've used that "just works" and I'm glad I don't have to mess with it.

2) I've mastered the technique of adjusting the screen position while simultaneously holding the suction base. Back in May when I first reviewed it, I was concerned about how 'easily' it popped off. Now, it is still annoying, but I've minimized the amount of times it happens by holding it appropriately. It doesn't annoy me enough to buy a different stand/holder.

3) The suction cup still holds on quite well. It hasn't fallen off yet. (I attach/detach from the windshield every time I use it.)

4) Traffic Receiver: I've been satisfied with alternate directions/road closings. It is quite accurate, even in rural areas where I didn't expect road closures to be displayed.

5) Long-distance travel: I've used it for a few long trips (1000+ miles) and had no problems whatsoever with it. I found the 'estimate' of time to be extremely accurate. It was no more than 10 minutes off. (I calculated the time I stopped for gas and added it to the original estimate.)

6) Battery life: I've found the battery life to be holding a little less charge than it used to, but nothing that I feel is alarming. Most of the time, I have the power cord connected anyway (so I can grab the traffic updates with the antenna built into the cord.)

Overall, this is my favorite GPS. I've been hooking it up to the computer less and less (meaning I am forfeiting new 'map share' corrections). I even decided NOT to get the latest map update. Why? Well, I feel everything is working just fine the way it is. I may update if I have the free time. This is in sharp contrast to my previous GPS experience, where I'd pray for updates to fix stubborn issues. The TomTom is just fine and I have had no major complaints. I am NOT in the market to buy a new GPS because I'm finally satisfied.

UPDATE 06/03/2011:

Here is an update after 1 year of using this device!

1) The battery is holding less charge than last year, but it still lasts 6-8 hours without needing a charge. Not a problem for me, because I use the car adapter most of the time.

2) I drove to Canada, and the maps were accurate! In fact, I liked that TomTom still told me the speed limits of the roads. (Sign said 100kph speed limit, TomTom showed 60 mph limit.) I found this helpful so I didn't have to squint at the tiny "kph" on my car's speedometer. I've made this trip before in the past (without my TomTom), and I chose to "Avoid Tolls" on this trip. TomTom found a very nice route that I had not known about. It used IQ Routes to get me around the rush-hour traffic too! I used the "Itinerary" feature for the first time, and found it worked quite well. I programmed 6-7 destinations the night before my trip. The next day, I simply opened the Itinerary and it asked me if I wanted to travel to the 1st one. I also ended up re-ordering a destination to later in the trip, and found an option to re-order. Very helpful!

3) I updated my map just once (right before my trip to Canada). I installed this on a new computer. I was worried that TomTom wouldn't 'know' that I was eligible for free maps on my new computer. But, I had no problem whatsoever! For those of you who don't know, all your map updates, downloadable color schemes, icons (etc) are done through the TomTom HOME software. You create an account with TomTom, and the TomTom HOME software uses that account to 'know' you're eligible for Lifetime Map updates.

4) I did discover 1 piece that doesn't work for me. I cannot use the "Safety Cameras" add-in from TomTom HOME. I haven't researched it though. I got an error message when trying to add it. No big deal for me, since I only planned to add it for curiosity. A quick Google search didn't reveal it as a widespread problem. I'll update this review if I find a cause/solution.

5) Yes, the GPS still "pops off" the mount too easily. It bugs me from time to time, but still not enough to buy a different mount/base.

6) Am I in the market for a new GPS? Nope! Still very happy with this one. (I got sick of every other GPS within 6 months of using it. But, knowing I still love this TomTom after 1 year says a lot!)

Good job TomTom, you exceeded my high expectations. Thank you! TomTom XXL 540S 5-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator - Portable Vehicle Gps - Easy To Use - Gps - Large Screen'

Woodworking Machinery Books - woodworking

This is a great book, that will help you learn how to tune up your woodworking machines. It is written with wit and some very dry (Wisconsin) humor. The entire book is very readable and informative on woodworking in general, and on tuning woodworking machines in particular.I read the whole book, and used the information on tuning the table saw in great depth. I was able to take an old Taiwanese table saw that had serviceable tolerances, and tune it to maximum performance. Initially, I concentrated on measuring the run-out of the arbor to decide whether the machine was worth keeping at all. It was. A year later, after moving, I went back to this reference and found a problem with the trunion alignment. In so doing, I also found and fixed a potentially dangerous problem with the blade raising mechanism. Once identified, it was easily fixed, but I wouldn't have had the courage to look without the confidence inspired by the author's careful treatment. He made the process seem simple, and encouraged patience and perseverance in approaching the tune-up task. All of this was very necessary in the case of my old saw.The best sections, in my opinion, are the table saw and band saw, but he covers a number of machines, including the router, shaper, and jointer. Mastering Woodworking Machines (Fine Woodworking Book)

Home Theater - dlp projector, dlp projectors

First impression

With out-of-box (factory) settings and connected to my macbook via HDMI cable watching an Avatar trailer the sound of "WOW" was echoing in our room.

Previously

Earlier today, I had returned a new Optoma pico projector (PK301) to Bestbuy after days and nights of viewing in diverse lighting conditions, PK301 just didn't work well due to too weak brightness (<50 lumens) whenever the room was not completely dark. My conclusion: current (relatively inexpensive) LED based projectors are not just yet up to the task until they are capable of performing over 1000 lumens.

Online research

I did a quick research and found many positive reviews on Optoma GT720. I also checked and compared to reviews of Optoma HD66 which I first intended to buy via Amazon; Bestbuy however had a $100 discount for this model so I bought it from them instead with no waiting time as a bonus.

Application

My primary purpose (application) was presentation of business material such as slides and movies at diverse conference and exhibition halls; my secondary application was for use at home: home office, movies and TV (cable box, bluray, Netflix etc.).

Details and summary

My usual set of criteria for projectors are resolution, brightness, connections, placement, noise. This model from Optoma meets all of them. It displays HD material with performance almost comparable to our 32' Sony Bravia 1080 LCD TV, Mix it then with a stellar brightness performance, connected via HDMI cable, placed very close (short throw) to the projection wall and throwing a gigantic-size display, performing in Standard brightness mode with yet very low level of audible noise.

Said things makes one smile when experiencing a sub $750 projector in year 2010. Bravo. Optoma GT700 3D Game Time Projector, Great for Wii, PlayStation, and Xbox

Awesome! I am happy with the projector, it has replaced my 60 incher that is now sitting in the corner. The picture quality is amazing, even with the lights on. Ive used it for hours while using my Xbox, and it stays the same temperature, and is quieter than the Xbox itself. From 12 feet away I have a 155in Screen. My place has become the place to watch everything at...BUY THIS IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT IT!

I was originally looking at plasma TVs to hook up to a Playstation 3 and cable box to watch football and baseball games in HD. However, I was really impressed with a $2500 projector a friend had bought, but that was way out of my price bracket. I saw the Optoma GT700 and thought for $650 I would get a projector that was a quarter as good, but for the same price as a 50 inch plasma screen. How wrong I was! This projector is almost as good as the top of the range models and makes even the largest plasma and LCD screens look poor. Set up is easy, I was playing games and watching HD TV on a 12 foot wall within 20 minutes of opening the box. You are only restricted by the size of the wall you can project on. It works reasonably well in lit conditions, but really comes into its own in the dark, it's just like being in the cinema, but the snacks are cheaper! The only problem is that once you start watching TV on this you won't want to watch it on your tiny 52inch screen anymore. If you are looking for a TV for your basement, this is the one.

You will be surprised at the throw distance. From a very short distance, you can get a 120" screen overflowing.. Good and bad in a way. I live in an apartment and did not want to ceiling mount this. So table mounting was my only option. For a 120" 16:9 screen hanging from the very top end of the wall, you cannot seat the projector over 1 foot high from the floor. Very little zoom adjustment you can make so placement is very critical. Also there is no horizontal keystone, so kind of expect it to be placed in the dead center of the screen.

Other than for these, it simply blows your mind in the picture clarity. Also, since the throw distance is going to be very short, the intensity of the light projected is also not lost. This keeps the image bright even with significant ambient light (on a screen not ann unpainted wall) !!!!

Another nice thing is that this projector ships with its own carry bag.. Not a big deal but is something that can come in very handy.

So far I love this projector. Keystoning was a bit difficult to adjust perfectly and still tweaking this as I find a permanent spot for the projector. Lens/lamp tilts upwards rather than straight forward, which made it difficult to find the perfect spot in my house. It was a plug and play projector, which is great! Little tweaking needed to be done with this equipment. Sound on this projector is amazingly loud. So far no complaints, will update if I find anything I don't like.

First, let me tell you that I'm 22 years old and my primary uses include mostly Xbox 360 and PS3, although I do hook it up to my computer from time to time. Halo and COD: Black Ops are pretty legit, especially multiplayer. I wouldn't say that a bigger picture is an advantage in multiplayer, but it's definitely nicer just to have and rub in my friends' faces that I have a 10 foot screen. Movies are pretty awesome as well (think, The Room by Tommy Wiseau). ESPN3 on Xbox 360 is pretty cool, although your quality of video for live events is based on your internet connection. I can't comment on regular TV because I can't figure out a way to get the coax-to-HDMI or component going (other than getting a cable box). If anyone has any suggestions on how to do this, let me know. Blacks looks good, especially at night. Can't really comment on 3D.

One problem that I do have is controlling the volume. The remote that comes with it goes from 0 to 10 in terms of loudness and I usually keep it at about a 4. I also have it set to output sound through my computer speakers, so when I turn those up past half-way I can tell that the sound is coming out of the computer speakers and not the projector speakers. When the sound is below half-way on my computer speakers, sound comes out of the projector speakers. Obviously, the computer speakers are better quality, but it's just annoying that I have to adjust the volume all the time. I don't know if that made any sense, but whatever.

Anyway, it's still pretty B.A. to have such an awesome device that projects a picture so large. The screen I got was a tri-pod since I move around so much, and, as I've mentioned previously, it's 120". Yeah. [...] - Home Entertainment Projectors - 720p - Dlp Projector - Dlp Projectors'
