Nikon Lens - 55-200mm, vr

This lens is sharp even at wide apertures, the VR (image stabilization) works great, autofocus speed is more than acceptable, and it it is very light and compact. The fact that it costs $250 and has effective VR is pretty amazing - no other company offers a lens with this feature for anywhere near this price.

As for image quality, search the various internet photo sites, such as dpreview and nikonians for sample photos taken with this lens by real users. The results are impressive! My copy produces similar results. The previous reviewer must have a bad sample.

Of course, the lens is slow (like almost all consumer zoom lenses), in that its widest aperture is smaller than a professional zoom or prime lens, so it's not a good choice for action photography in lower light conditions (like indoor sports without flash or outside sports at dusk). But a fast telephoto zoom will cost at least three times as much and weigh a ton.

I give the lens 5 stars based on a combination of image quality, value, and compactness/lightness. Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR [Vibration Reduction] Nikkor Zoom Lens

I had the 55-200mm non VR version for about 5 months, sold it to essentally recover my cost, and bought the VR version as a replacement. The non VR version was very compact and light, and produced excellent photos, but the slightly larger VR version is so much more usable I don't miss the other lens at all. The VR works as advertised and allows me to take pictures at 3 times or more lower shutter speeds than the non VR version. While I would love the 18-200mm VR for the convenience, I will never be able to justify the $750 price, so my 18-55mm kit lens and this lens will likely cover my needs as long as I own my camera. I also seriously considered the 70-300mm VR, but couldn't accept twice the price for only 50% more reach. And at twice the length of the 55-200mm non VR version, it would be too awkward for me to carry around. I am very satisfied with this 55-200mm VR lens and if you are considering it, please give it a try. You will not be dissapointed.

My Nikon ownership goes back over 30 years to the days when cameras were made of metal and carrying one with a few lenses tested your stamina.

Times sure have changed. There's hardly a metal camera to be found and you can carry a bag full of equipment in one hand. The Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor is the latest lightweight from this heavyweight of the camera industry.

Plastic construction right down to its lens mount. This thing looks and feels like the label should say Fisher Price and not Nikon. However, looks can be deceiving as I soon found out.

My only reason for buying this lens was that I needed to fill a void in my kit until I saved up enough for a 70-200mm f2.8. I had no intention of keeping the 55-200 VR once the 70-200 arrived.

After shooting with the 55-200 for a few months I've come to appreciate what it can do. It's limited to use in good light as even VR can't change the laws of physics. In this case, it's not even the current VR-II but the original VR that Nikon developed a few years ago.

With sufficient light and good technique, the 55-200 is capable of very good performance. No, it's not as sharp and contrasty as the 70-200. It's also not going to survive the bad weather or a few solid knocks that professional use would expose it to.

Where the 55-200 excels is in its portability and above average performance. For travel or just walking around, it would be hard to beat this lens if it's used within its limits. I use mine on a D80 and have no problem getting excellent 13x19" prints.

As an added bonus, it works very well with the Nikon CL3T closeup lens and does double duty as a macro zoom. Again, it's not a substitute for a real macro zoom like the Nikon 70-180, but it's not intended to be.

Given my original opinion of this lens, I have to admit that I've gotten much more than my money's worth out of it. Instead of selling it, I'm going to keep it and use it when my 70-200 is just to big and heavy to carry around.

If you're on a budget or just want a nice, lightweight lens in this range, take a look at the Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR. Like me, you may be very much surprised at what it can do.

If you looking for something relatively inexpensive and fun to carry around, this is the lens for you. Quality is good in good light, most of the time, and can be exceptional sometimes. The plasticy feel doesn't bother me because I avoid carrying around a hunk of metal.

The VR works like a charm in good light.

However, I've noticed softness (at all apertures) often enough where I would not use this lens for any professional work. For example, the Nikkor 180 f/2.8 blows this lens away in quality of manufacture and resulting photos.

I've also noticed softness and noise in almost all of my night photos using this lens, even with a very heavy tripod and no wind.

The focusing system on the lens also is slow as molasses. I tried to capture the Blue Angels flying low over the homes in my neighborhood (an awesome annual occurence), and each shot was blown as the lens hunted for focus. Plenty of good light for high shutter speeds (midday, 1/2500s at f/4), but by the time the lens was focused, the subject had moved so far the photo was blown.

If you want to have fun and need a good lens, buy this one. If you are a professional or OBAM (obessessed amateur), save for the higher quality lenses because you'll be disappointed.

I wish more people would objectively weigh the positives and the negatives in their reviews so that those considering buying this lens can make an informed decision. While this is a very good lens on a tight budget, this is not a great lens directly compared against other similar (and more expensive) lenses. - 55-200mm - Vr - Nikkor - Lens'

Blu-ray Player - blu-ray player, home theater systems

LG LHB536 is a overall a good system for the price. Price will probably come down. So if you can wait to buy, keep an eye on the price. Sound is good and there are no wireless speakers but speakers are easy to hook up. The wireless connection is great for streaming video from Netflix. I love this feature. If you have cable set top box you connect the HDMI output from the box to an HDMI input on the LG system. Then you connect the HDMI out from the LG to an HDMI input on your TV. You DO NOT need a digital optical out cable if you connect using HDMI. The instructions that come with the system to set it up Stink but you can get good support by calling their support line.

PROS: Price, sound, picture, wifi with streaming video if you subscribe to Netflix, Vudu, cinemax etc., I POD connect, Bluray DVD. Good telephone support

Cons: The remote is not a learning remote, so it will not turn power on for your TV or cablebox. Manual is lacking details

Update to my review on april 18, 2011. LG has updated the software on this system to include Amazon VOD and additional premium applications. I have networked the Lg to my mac computer and I can listen to my music files and view my pictures on my TV. NICE! Amazon now has the best price on this system under $400.00. Buy it! LG LHB536 1100W 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System with Smart TV Integrated Wi-Fi

I normally would have ponied up for a real AV receiver and speaker setup, but my main issue was that I didn't have the room to fit a large Onkyo receiver. And in the small room I'm in, the little 5.1 system I had at the moment was fine, so I decided to look around and see what I could get that was smaller in size.

Pretty much all of my options had Blu-Ray players with them, which I didn't really need because I had a PS3, but I decided what the hell. I'm mainly buying this to have a 5.1 system that does HDMI, my old setup was using optical cables. Plus the newer DD and DTS modes is an upgrade for me and overall this is cheaper than buying a real AV receiver + speakers.

I'm pretty impressed with this system, it's got a lot of bang for the buck. For starters, this will be my default BD player now just because turning it on and starting up a movie is a lot faster than going through the PS3. Coupled with a HDMI switch, I have a total of 5 devices plugged into it, my DVR, a PS3, Xbox 360, a HTPC, and a HD-DVD player.

If you don't already have some type of HTPC or box for playing back video files and/or streaming, this device will take care of your needs. It plays MKVs and AVIs fine from a network or USB device, plays music files fine, has an app for online radio streaming that I love, and in an update last week, they added Amazon Instant Video playback, which is great for my free Amazon Prime videos. In the end, I'll still use my HTPC for my video playing because it gives me more features and options, but this is fine as a backup and I'll still use it for my primary online streaming playback. The online source it's missing though is Hulu. It does have Netflix, Vudu, and Amazon. (among others)

I haven't tried out the built-in radio tuner since what stations I'd listen to I can listen through the online streaming app, but this unit has an AM tuner unlike most of the other units out there, so if you want that for your sports radio/news/talk stations, you have that access.

I've been impressed with the LG SW updates too, there was an update already when I pulled the unit out of the box 2 or 3 weeks ago and an update last week that added some features, so they keep improving things.

It comes with an iPod/iPhone dock, I haven't tried my iPod but I've tested my iPhone 4 and it plays back ok. Unfortunately all playback is controlled from the player itself, not the LG. You'll want to fiddle with the sound modes because the Natural Plus that I use with TV (which mixes 2 channel audio into the center speaker) doesn't sound good with music.

About the only negative I have, which I didn't score against it because it's not it's problem, it's my remote's, is that there aren't any native codes for my Harmony One remote at this time, I had to have the remote learn them. But that's not a big deal, it's learned the codes so my remote works with it. The thing it's lacking is a direct code to switch between the HDMI ports, but that's not a big deal either because my HDMI switch has a remote with codes in the Harmony system, so all of my most used devices are on the switch.

Ok, I take it back, there was one thing I'd like to change, which is the speakers. I'd prefer to have speakers that had some type of protection over cones. That's just me, these do look nice and I've seen units from other vendors have the same type of lack of protection, so it's not a rare thing. The 535 cones had protection, but from I hear, the 536 pretty much fixes any flaws the 535 had, so I won't complain too much.

I don't normally do written reviews, only star ratings, but I had to put my 2¢ into the conversation. First of all, like some others I totally agree that it is ridiculous to expect a wireless speaker system if you know anything about systems at all, wireless or otherwise. The description is pretty clear in that the wireless term refers to the internet connection only. Anyway, I first bought an inexpensive RCA HTS, and would have been content except that the system was made defective from the factory (which I realized only after seeing reviews after I purchased- dumb not to research before I bought, I know). In disgust and in a hurry to try out the 3D on my new TV, I ordered this system and waited for it to arrive before returning the defective RCA system, and when I went from the old to the new, I couldn't believe the difference in the sound!! OMG, totally worth every penny spent on this LG system.

But, I do have a complaint. When changing inputs on the remote, the button descriptor is poor at best. I could figure it out, but my wife rolled her eyes when I tried to explain how to navigate through the new remote (so I know when I am traveling I will get the, "how do I put it on..." call). I was surprised that on the $160 RCA HTS, the system had 5 HDMI inputs and the remote had a button to match each input. The LG remote has 1 input selector called "Radio/Input" which each press scrolls through all the choices which cannot be re-named. They are HMDI 1, HDM1 2, AUX, etc.-- try explaining that to a non-tech-savvy spouse.

Back to the good points. The sound quality is what you want out of a system: thumpin' bass, crisp voice and good high end. I connected via LAN, and took advantage of some of the trial memberships in the first few days. Netflix online-only sucks, as the selection is limited to older releases. I quit Netflix a while back because of this, and thought they would have figured it out but hadn't. I canceled the trial membership the same night because I couldn't find anything we wanted to watch. Vudu was new to me, but this is the one for me. I watched an HD (1080p), 3D movie (streaming)with no hiccups AT ALL, and the picture quality was as if I had a 3D blu ray in the player-- amazing!

Bottom line: money well invested, and bringing our family together in one room to enjoy the new 3D TV/HTS system. Daughter now has the cool house, so we just need to keep the fridge stocked for all the teenage appetites! Now considering a cover charge to walk through our door. - Home Theater Systems - Blu-ray Player'

Outdoor Deck - outdoor deck

The BTR7 has been a great add-on to the receiver I selected for my outdoor deck sound system.

It is a shame that this is an add-on and didn't come with the original purchase of the receiver, but oh well, it still has been worth it.

I can sit outside my house with my phone that has Pandora on it and instantly the music on my phone is playing outside on the deck. Sherwood BTR7 Bluetooth Receiver (Black) - Outdoor Deck'

16gb Sdhc Memory Card - class 10, sd card

I purchased this for use with my new Canon T2i. I use it primarily for shooting full resolution 1080p video, although I shoot stills as well.

The camera choked on the class 4 chip that I originally purchased, but with this one, it is amazing. I can shoot rapidfire 18 megapixel stills (I've tested it up to 30+ shots in a row), and there is no lag. I've never had an error when shooting hi-def video.

Highly recommended! I'm buying another one. Transcend 16 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card TS16GSDHC10E

I bought this card for my Canon T1i. The card I had been using before ordering this one was a Kingston Class 6 micro sd card and it worked well enough for the type of shooting I did. Class 6 was the card speed that Canon recommended when I bought my T1i (Class 10 cards were not yet available) and it seemed fast enough for the way I used my camera - isolated single photos taken at Medium (8 MP) or Large (15 MP) jpg settings and 1280 x 720 video. And while I ocassionally took continuous photos, I had never much exceeded 5-10 photos in a row and had never run into a problem with my Class 6 card.

When I first saw the Class 10 cards I did some experiments with my camera. How many continuous Large photos could I take before the camera slowed down? It turned out to be about 30. And how many RAW photos could I take before the camera slowed down? It turned out to be about 9. SInce I did not generally take any photos in RAW and never needed more than about 10 continuous photos at Large, the Class 6 card seemed more than sufficient for my needs. But I wondered about the speed of the Class 10 cards enough that I finally bought one.

It turns out that the Class 10 card is sufficiently fast that there does not seem to be a reasonable upper limit on single Large photos. I have taken 60 on continuous without an issue. And although I still cannot take more than 9 RAW photos on continuous with the Class 10 card, when I am finished taking those photos the camera no longer displays a Wait - writing pictures screen. The RAW photos get written from the built-in memory to the card so quickly that the camera does not need to display the Wait screen.

So this card is fast! Given the way I take photos this purchase was unnecessary, but still I am glad I bought it. I know I will not run into a situation where speed is an issue with this card.

I will be writing this review for both SanDisk Extreme SDHC class 10 8gb and Transcend SDHC class 10 16gb.

I bought SanDisk class 10 and Transcend class 10 for my new Panasonic LX5. I got both card because no one really did a comparison with a compact camera and I was just going crazy trying to see if there is any big difference between the 2 cards.

SanDisk Extreme package box indicated it's water proof, x-ray proof, shock proof, temperature proof. I am not ready to spend $50 to see if it really stand up to it's words. And I don't think normal people would go through the extreme condition in taking pictures or videos.

Cut the story short, I really want to see if there is any difference in writing performance between the 2 cards in a compact camera. There is a continuous burst mode in LX5 and the manual indicated it is only limited by the condition of picture environment and performance of the SD card. Within the mode there are 2 different settings:1) speed priority or 2) picture/quality priority. The shutter speed is much faster with speed priority compare to picture priority.

I first formatted both cards out of box then put each card in series of test(3 rounds each setting for each card) shooting at the same object under same lighting condition. The results:

Speed Priority:

SanDisk Class 10 8gb

22-33 shots before camera stopped to allow the card to catch up with writing.

Transcend Class 10 16gb

22-24 shots before camera stopped to allow the card to catch up with writing.

Picture priority

SanDisk Class 10 8gb

34-46 shots before camera stopped

Transcend Class 10 16gb

27-33 shots before camera stopped

It seems that at a higher shutter speed, both cards performed very similar under the same shooting condition. But at a slower shutter speed the SanDisk definitely out perform Transcend. I hope this little experiment satisfied anyone with curiosity like me. Transcend definitely is a bargain with 16gb and almost half of the price compare to SanDisk. But I am going to use SanDisk Extreme as my primary card and Transcend as backup or on a second camera to ensure i would not miss any shots.

OK. this card was around $47 for a class 10 16gb. The other card i bought was a Sandisk class 10 8gb for the around same price. I did a 10 sec stop watch test on both cards with my Rebel T1i on raw and the Sandisk was only faster by 1 shot in a 10 sec burst. to me it seems trivial to pay 47 bucks for a Sandisk 8gig when you can get 16 gigs for the same price. yes i know, the Sandisk is good for arctic and desert temperatures... but i live in western NY... not Antarctica or the Sahara. If your looking for a good card, with more gigs for your buck, the Transcend is well worth it.

The "C10" is for "minimum sustaining speed" of 10mbps. The sustaining speed is critical if you're using for HD camcorder. There is other brand card that is also c10 but it costs more (2x) for its print of 30mbps on the card. It leads consumers into thinking that the higher price is worth for the 30mbps. However, the 30mbps is the "burst" speed. Burst speed is critical for HD camera and for doing copies. I have a HD camcorder and I'm very satisfied with this card after many hours for recording. I bought this card to do 100% of recording so it is the right price. I would buy the other high price brand card of 30mbps if I will do a lot of picture taking. The bottom line is to buy for the purpose of your usage. - Sdhc - Sd Card - Memory Card - Class 10'

Expandable Multi-handset - expandable multi-handset, cordless telephone

I wanted a corded/cordless phone system, with answering machine and expandability. After researching phones and reading reviews, I decided on the AT&T 6.0 corded/cordless system with two cordless phones; I then added two additional cordless phones. Described in reviews I read before purchasing, I was disappointed that the base unit did not have a blinking light to indicate a message. HOWEVER, when setting up the system, I read that you could program the base unit to beep, signaling a message. This has worked perfectly -- even better than a blinking light, since you don't even have to look at the machine to know you have a message. [You can stop the beeping by pressing the mute button.] I absolutely love this system!! Best features: speaker/hands-free on all units, all buttons clearly marked and intuitive, mute button also stops phone from ringing/beeping, easily programmed/great step-by-step directions, convenient intercom/transfer functions, dial a number from caller ID by adding a "1" and then pressing "send," battery holds charge (out of the recharger) for several days, excellent range, and, finally, I was able to go from five different phones to one standardized system. My only need/wish not met (a minor one) is that there is no clip on the cordless units -- all my old phones had clips, so I was used to clipping it my belt or a pocket and heading to another room or outside. Although I haven't tried it yet, I found an inexpensive clip at Best Buy that can be mounted to the back of the phone. After 3 months, I was so happy with this system that I bought the same one for my elderly in-laws; they also find it easy to see and use, and like the features & standardization (they had three different phones). A great product/value, so far.... AT&T DECT 6.0 Black/Silver Digital Accessory Handset Only (CL80109)

Remember that if you are purchasing this phone you must already own the AT&T DECT 6.0 phone system as this is just an extra phone for that set and will not work as a stand-alone phone. Having already owned the AT&T DECT 6.0 cordless phone set that came with three cordless phones, I already knew these cordless phones were of good quality. This add-on phone to the set is no different. The range and sound quality are both very good and it was easy to setup with the existing phone system.

This phone is good. We bought one set and two extra handsets. All four phones work well in the house. Sound quality is excellent, "feel" when holding and talking on the phone is good, and it's easy to use. I have two complaints. One, the handsets are preprogrammed "1, 2, 3, 4" etc. You can't, however, "name" the phones as I could in my old, similar set. So, if you are planning on using the intercom feature, you need to remember that "Handset 1" is in the kitchen, "Handset 2" is in the basement, etc. I much preferred being able to name the handsets. Now, I just have a piece of tape on the back of the phone with the location of all handsets written on it, but that's a design flaw. Two, there are LOTS of features on this phone, but the ones you'd need most often, such as "what number just called me?" aren't so obvious. You'll need to spend a little time with the manual to get this all figured out. Overall, though, I like this set and would buy it again.

We live in a well-built home with plaster over drywall. In some areas the walls are almost an inch think and the ceiling all have metal sheets to help the plaster adhere. As a result we've NEVER been able to use a cordless phone system because the signal would not penetrate the ceiling.

This AT&T phone system with DECT 6.0 technology has no issue at all with the ceiling. As a result I bought 6 more headsets (2 are backups) and we use the intercom feature all the time.

This phone simply works!

The only thing missing for me is a jack for a headset. I'm not sure why it doesn't have it but it's a great phone [system] none the less.

AT&T DECT 6.0 Black/Silver Digital Accessory Handset Only (CL80109)

We purchased these handsets to add to our existing system.

Pros: These phones work very well and we have not had any issues with static, interference or dropped calls. It does not interfere with our wireless router like some other phones have and it is not affected by the microwave oven. Controls are simple and well labeled. Volume levels are great.

Cons: We found two minor cons. The first would be the tacky looking silver plastic. It just looks cheap. The other issue is both the handsets and charging bases do not have enough weight added and are easily knocked over.

We would purchase this item again and recommend it to others!

After much research I settled on this AT&T cordless phone to replace a V-Tech, about 12 years old, that the buttons were failing on. Have been using it for about 3 weeks and am very pleased. The two things I'd change...being able to name the handsets instead of the numbers that are assigned to them and it isn't quite as comfortable in my hand as my old one - probably just a matter of getting accustomed to it. Would definitely recommend this phone. - Cordless Telephone - Dect Cordless Phone - Att Cordless Phone - Expandable Multi-handset'

Pashmina Shawl - shawl, scarves

If you are as confused as I was about which 'pashmina' shawl/stole to order, look no further. This one is beautiful. It has a lustrous sheen, good drape, fringe that moves like you want it to, and is amazingly soft. I bought it for my beach wedding, and know I'll enjoy wearing it for many years to come. It's a bit more expensive than some of the other suspiciously cheap wraps out there, but is well worth the money. It looks like silk, and the feel is even softer. Great product, would recommend to a friend, and am considering buying another in a different color. I got mine from Saka's, and have no complaints about the seller. 78" x 28" Eco-Friendly Bamboo Rayon Soft Solid Pashmina Shawl / Wrap / Stole - Ivory

I ordered this for our wedding-vow renewal, as I don't trust the weather (or the air conditioning at the church) quite enough to bare my shoulders in mid-November here.

I debated between several shawls, some of which were significantly cheaper than this one. I'm SO glad I ordered this one, though. The bamboo rayon is SO elegant and silky-soft! I've been meaning to knit myself a shawl from bamboo-rayon yarn, and after experiencing this shawl, that might just be my next knitting project. It is beautiful and will go with my dress exquisitely. It drapes beautifully, is comfortable, and even as a larger woman, this fits me more than adequately.

I do wish it had care instructions; initially, I will hand-wash it and hang it to dry, so as not to cause undue shrinkage.

You will not regret purchasing this shawl. I am absolutely delighted.

I ordered this shawl as an accent for a wedding, and it IS incredibly soft. The only negative is that, when I pulled it out of the packaging, there was mud on it. I don't believe it said anywhere that these shawls were pre-owned. My mother thinks they must be made in Sri Lanka or something. - Scarves - Shawl - Pashmina Wrap - Pashmina'

Automatic Battery Charger

This little charger works equally well when charging and maintaining both 6 and 12 volt automotive batteries. It's a good choice for maintaining batteries in cars which are driven only on special occasions. Schumacher SC-600A SpeedCharge High Frequency Battery Charger

It can charge both 6V and 12V batteries, with different amp selection. Different from some of the older style charger, this one will automatically shutoff when charge is full. So you can plugin, clamp on, turn on and walk away doing other things. Never worry about overcharge the battery.

It is light weight and great tool to have, if you have a lot of batteries around. We use it to charge and check the batteries for the large UPS power supplies in our office. Properly maintained battery can extend its life so much, worth many times the cost of this charger.

I purchased the product from Walmart for about $30.00. I purchased it as a compliment to a more powerful but not automatic charger I already have. My main purpose is to keep boat batteries charged during the off season. After reading the instructions and hooking it up it went through the charging and stopping cycles as indicated in the user's manual. All of the indicator lights worked as stated in the manual. So far I have charged two batteries. I hooked them up in the evening, the indicator light showed they were at about 75% charge. By morning they were fully charged and the charging cycle had stopped. According to the user's manual once the charging stops it goes into a maintainance mode where it monitors the battery and when it falls below a pre-set charge, it begins a recharge cycle again. The automatic function is nice because you dont have to worry about over charging. The 6 ft power cord and 6 ft charging cables are convenient because I could charge my boat battery in the garage without having to use an extension chord. I have only charged two batteries but so far, so good.

I tried to start my lawn tractor recently and found that the battery was very severely DEAD!!. I went online and purchased this Schumacher SC-600A speed charger. I hooked it up overnight and that battery was fully charged and quite able to start my tractor the next morning. Great performance, and very easy to use. Next, we're going to top off the car batteries before the really cold weather sets in.

This charger works perfectly. I have had other chargers over the years and have borrowed chargers from friends and family. The last one I used was from a neighbor and, although it said that the two batteries I tried were charged, they would not crank the car or lawn tractor at all. I put both batteries through a full charge with the Schumacher and both came up trumps. Both the car and lawn tractor fired up immediately. I returned the neighbors charger and have not looked back. It was well worth the price as I would have had to replace both batteries. Highly recommended.

I used this charger on 7 to 9 amp/hour batteries. At first it charged the batteries fine but I started to notice that when charging at 2 amps it wouldn't register as fully charged sometimes. It would stay to 4 bars but not go to the charged light even after a longer than normal time. I would change to 4 amps and then it would be fully charged. I worry that it may be overcharging some batteries.

I also noticed that it couldn't read some 6 volt rechargable lantern batteries (4.5 amp/hour). This is the main reason I bought this charger. I have a automated Schumacher 1.5 amp charger and thought well of the company, that is why I wanted to buy another Schumacher.

The charger seems to work fine on larger batteries automotive or motorcycle, so it is good for that.

I bought this battery charger based upon the Schumacher reputation. I've only used it twice so far, but very happy so far. The 3 ranges of current fit my needs well.

I also don't need to be concerned with overcharging since it's capable of switching to a trickle charge after the battery has reach the full charge state.

I bought the Schumacher SC-600A along with the Schumacher SE82-6 to see which one works better on my 12V batteries. So I tried both of them out this past weekend. The SE86-2 costs a little more and is completely manual. While the SE82-6 has a dial indicating the current charging/maintaining Amp, I found the SC-600A to be not only convenient but also worry free. I had to keep watch on the SE86-2 every 4 hours while it was charging and saw the Amp needle move down as the battery charged to full. On the SC-600A I just left it overnight (at the suggestion of other reviewers) and didn't worry about it. When I woke up the next morning the Green light was on to indicate the charge was complete.

The SC-600A also has a nice feature in it where it will Desulfate your battery if you left it uncharged for too long (according to Schumacher's website and manual). None of my batteries were left uncharge to that state so the SC-600A did not kick in to that mode. One thing I wish the SC-600A has would be the digital or needle Amp readout to indicate either the percentage of battery charged or current Amps. I know the bigger brother model SC-1000A and SC-1200A both have the digital read out but I wasn't looking for a charger greater than 6 Amps since that's enought for most applications. But for the price, you can't beat the convenience of the SC-600A charger.'

Walking Shoes - comfort walking shoes, comfort

I have a large feet (size 12 women). When I try on a 12 women sneaker it normally doesn't fit well or a little too short. I will purchase a men sneaker instead. This sneaker fit very well, I highly recommend it and it is true to size. These shoes are light weight and feels good when I walk. Well made. Easy Spirit Women's Punter Athletic Shoe,White/Lt Grey,9.5 WW

I've worn Easy Spirit shoes for years but I do believe these are the most comfortable I have ever owned. Perfect right out of the box. The free shipping and fantastic price from Amazon didn't hurt either! Highly recommend.

I walk for exercise 4-5 times a week and this is my shoe of choice. I keep re-buying Punter because it is comfortable, fits well and wears well. I wear an 8-81/2 in most shoes but always buy a 9 in athletic shoes and these are no different. I can use a thick sock and still have room in the toe box for my foot to expand during warmer weather. I never have to break them in--they're good for a long, fast walk right out of the box.

I purchased these as a birthday gift for my mother-in-law after she heard my wife talking about how great they were. The price on Amazon was 10 dollars cheaper than what they sell them for locally. My mother-in-law loves the shoes! She uses them when she takes her walk in the morning and said they are very, very comfortable. She highly recommends them.

I have arthritis in both knees and one ankle, yet I love to walk. I have repeatedly bought these shoes because they give me the most comfort and mobility. I have tried other walking shoes, but always come back to this brand. Amazon has, by far, the best price on these shoes, and I was delighted that they carry them.

Happy Walker

ES Punter is, by far, the most comfortable, embracing, walk-all-day, shoe I've ever had! When I found out that this style was no longer being made, I ordered these two pair. I'm sorry these will no longer be available and am glad I found them on Amazon! And I'm not "James"...I'm the wife!

I have had these Easy Spirits before and they fit me great. I have a narrow heal and want plenty of toe room and these walking shoes fit the bill. They do last for yrs,but the leather peeled off the front of the shoes before the wore out,not happy about that, otherwise I really like Punter. - Comfortable - Comfort Walking Shoes - Walking Shoes - Comfort'

Best Cancelled Tv Shows

A really outstanding series that started slowly but steadily built momentum over the season, finally rushing to a stunnning Season Finale climax complete with cliffhanger. It SHOULD have been renewed, and evidently was GOING to be until the last moment, when its cast, crew and audience were left shocked by its demise. Production values, writing, and acting are all first-rate, and I love the strong subtext of "family" -- broken families, blended families, families whose members have resentments and fights but still care for each other. Sheriff Tom Underlay makes a great, ambiguous central character who can be favorably compared to Shaun Cassidy's Sheriff Buck from his previous show, "American Gothic." (My feelings about Tom did a complete shift from suspicion to love during the the run of the season, thanks to the clever writers!) Hopefully this series can be saved by the grassroots movement currently gaining momentum, or a new network can be found for its home, but regardless of what happens, Mr. Cassidy deserves praise for this amazing series. At least we have the opportunity to obtain this first season on DVD, for which I'm grateful! Invasion - The Complete Series

Of the several shows that have tried to launch off of the LOST lead-in, this one was probably the best. Only just barely related to INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (in the sense of human bodies being replaced by alien replicas), the series revolved around a small Florida town in which a segment of the population had turned alien during a hurricane. This premise allowed for alot of promising drama as families and friends had to deal with certain of their members being turned while others remained human. To add suspense to the mix, the sheriff of the town was revealed from the get-go to be one of the lead aliens, along with his wife, while her EX-husband and family (including two children) remained human. Furthermore, as the series unfolded, we learned that there were competing factions among the aliens, some peaceful and concerned for their safety from other aliens AND the military, while the other segment was violent and bent on world-domination (usually resulting in self-destructive behavior). As for the rest of the drama and the many plot-points that arose along the way, you'll just have to watch to see for yourself. Just bear in mind that this is the one and ONLY season the show will ever have (unless another network picks it up, which is unlikely).

INVASION sadly got off to a slow start but by the time the mid-season finale was reached, everything was moving along nicely and the actors were beginning to fill their roles very nicely. Early on, the sheriff and his wife established themselves as the anchor-actors and characters of the show, and they were the reason I came back and stayed faithful to the show for its second half. But by the time the finale came, I had grown fond of ALL the actors and the characters they played. It's just too bad that they won't get a second chance to carry on the story, because they had sown many seeds for a promising second season.

What did the show in was not being able to capture the audience right away. I myself didn't get past the first episode, but tuned in at about episode 10, and by then things had gotten VERY exciting - but most people never gave the show a second chance. Let that be a lesson - taking your time with a story is a wonderful thing (despite what UK Ramsey said below in his anti-USA TV rant) - but you have to kick things off with enough of a bang to lock viewers in BEFORE you slow things down. What Ramsey's comments reveal is a sad truth about today's viewing audience - people are just too scatter-brained to give a story time to unfold. But hopefully, shows like LOST and INVASION will open the door for more series of the like that take their time and slow people down a bit.

By the way - if you liked the show and are interested in trying to get it renewed on ABC or another network, buy the DVD set. In fact, pre-order it and show the suits that there is a large audience for this show that is willing to spend money on it! $$$ is the only language the suits speak!!

Shaun Cassidy's INVASION is prepared to wrap up its first (perhaps only?) season with a 1 hour finale tonight at 10 pm on ABC. This is the 22nd episode in a season full of brilliant, intelligent, fun and fierce pseudo-science fiction. It's more than that...

INVASION is as much about family and the ever changing dynamic within two families as it is about the alien invasion that comes down in a hurricane in the form of lights and gradually takes over the small town of Homestead, Florida.

The show stars William Fichtner as creepy but effective Sheriff Tom Underlay, a man who seems to know what is going on, but may not be as "in the loop" as he thinks. His wife is Dr. Mariel Underlay (Kari Matchett), a family woman and town physician suddenly thrust seemingly overnight into a cold, detached disillusionment. She doesn't know what's happened with those lights in the sky, but her kids don't recognize her anymore (not "inside," anyway)...

Eddie Cibrian is Mariel's former husband Russell Varon, a park ranger who has two kids with his ex-wife and is currently married to Larkin Groves (Lisa Sheridan), a local news reporter with whom Russ is expecting a third child...

Those first two kids would be high-school-age Jesse (Evan Peters) and cute as a button 1st grader Rose (Ariel Gade). While Rose is wide-eyed with wonder over the events during and after the hurricane, concerned for her mother, confused by her sudden frequency of being missing, Jesse is growing increasingly paranoid - enough so to match his new uncle Dave (Tyler Labine), a conspiracy-theory-spouting blogger who is convinced (correctly) that some sort of alien force has come out of the sky in the cover of a hurricane and is plotting something...

Whether Sheriff Tom (who Rose calls "Daddy/Uncle Tom") is behind this "invasion" is up for debate, but the shifting dynamic between the two families is only magnified by the increasingly erratic behavior of Tom's own daughter, Kira (Alexis Dziena from "Broken Flowers"). She has never quite felt like she belonged, and the sudden "invasion" of her parents makes her feel less and less like she fits in...

The season took a real turn when it was revealed that a man named Eli Szura (special guest star James Frain of "Where the Heart Is..." fame) was behind the impending alien invasion, knew more than anyone could've about the hurricane, the lights in the sky, etc., and that he had been working with Tom, only to go behind his back and take things way too far...

Where it ends up is anybody's guess. Tonight is the season (series?) finale of "INVASION" entitled "The Last Wave Goodbye" (not a good sign), and yet it appears to end on a cliffhanger...

INVASION is a huge hit with critics like TV Guide and seems to be the best-received new show of the season critically. I hope ABC renews it, but that appears to have fallen through. Rumor has it that the new hybrid network the C/W (UPN/WB) will join forces to bring the show over to the new joint venture and that would be fantastic! What better way to watch a show about hybrids than on a hybrid network?!?'

Cleaning

This product does an excellent job getting grease and leaves a streak free shine. The pull out tubs dry out, so individually wrapped wipes are better, and they are convenient to put in a computer bag or backpack. I didn't give it 5 stars because there is some lint left on my screen, and I will probably try a different brand next time. Falcon Monitor Wipes, 24 ct. (DCW)'

Nail Biting Solutions - thumb sucking remedy, nail biting solutions

This product definitely has helped my three year old break the thumb sucking habit, but it should be used cautiously. The first time I put it on her thumbs, I painted the entire nail. She complained all day about the "yuckies" whenever her thumb accidently touched her lips (for example when she was eating her snack using her fingers). At bedtime, she stuck her thumb in her mouth and got a full taste which caused her to gag and throw up several times. (This is the simplified version of the story! You really don't want all the details of the hour long ordeal!) Of course, this product is not designed to come off easily (the instructions say to apply every TWO DAYS!) so I had to figure out how to get her through the night. I finally used nail polish remover to try to remove the product from her thumbs. I'm not sure if it worked, or if my daughter was just too traumatized to put her thumb in her mouth after that, but she didn't gag or throw up again. Now, I do still use the product but I only apply a very small amount to the tip of her thumb nail. As a side note, while preventing her from sucking her thumb, it also has effected her eating habits. Any time she eats anything with her fingers and gets a tast of the Mavala Stop product, she decides that she no longer likes that particular food! So, if you plan to use this on a young child, you might want to start out applying a minimal amount to the tip of the thumbnail, and be aware that the effects may be more far-reaching than you intend. Mavala Stop - Helps Cure Nail Biting and Thumb Sucking, 0.3-Fluid Ounce

This product is amazing. I've been biting my nails for more than 15 years (I'm almost 22), and I managed to stop completely in three weeks.

Mainly, I had to become aware of what I was physically doing so I could stop doing it. Because of the horrible, bitter, lingering taste of Mavala Stop, I gradually became aware of what I was doing and could consciously think about my actions. It forced me to be conscious of my bad habit. Secondly, the nasty taste removed any enjoyment or stress relief I got from biting my nails since it was so incredibly unpleasant. I became very wary, very quickly. This combination of factors made it possible for me to stop, which I thought I could never do.

The taste is really horrible. It's like acetone (nail polish remover), bitter, rotten wood, and some sort of fish put together. It has a very chemical taste with a sweet undertone that makes for a horrible experience. The taste is also very durable and lingering. If you licked a nail painted with Mavala Stop, it would take a few minutes to get the taste out. The taste was so bad, in my opinion, that getting it off of my teeth, lips, and tongue when I slipped up stopped whatever I was doing or thinking about. It's very, very gross. Two coats of polish will last for more than one full week before rubbing off. It can help to freshen it up during the week to keep the taste at full unpleasantness.

It ruined finger foods for me during the time I used it. My fingers periodically touched my lips while I was eating, and the nasty taste would rub off slightly. This made me lick my lips a lot to remove the taste quicker-- it's easier to get it over with quickly than to try to avoid it on your lips--which made them lose moisture and chap badly. So you should also buy some lip balm at the same time. If you touch a nail with a fingertip, it will rub off there, too, and from there can transfer to coffee cups, pencils, hors d'oeuvres, etc. Wash your hands before you eat anything that might touch them.

There were no English directions packaged with the product. I don't think this is a problem, since the directions are pretty much obvious (Shake. Paint nails. Gag at taste) but it might be a concern for some people. A great deal of other languages were represented in the instruction pamphlet, including German, Portugese, Spanish, French, and a number of Asian languages.

Mavala Stop has a shine comparable to clear nail polish, but not as shiny as premium or ultra-shine clear nail polish. Your nails will probably not look natural, but if that's a concern, you could probably lie and say it's just a nice, buffed manicure. It could easily be worn over nail polish and would probably work like an extra protective topcoat. The shiny quality rubs out over time. At the end of a week it will be duller and more matte, but also less effective.

The bottle holds roughly the same amount as a regular bottle of nail polish, but Mavala Stop seems to be of a slightly thinner consistency. I recommend carrying the bottle with you in a pocket or purse so that if you must do something to your nails, it can at least be a touch-up. Washing your hands seems to dull it out more quickly, and removes some of the taste, but not all, by far. It does not wash out with water and soap, but the power is reduced.

The only reason you would fail with this product is if you can't bring yourself to enforce it. You have to make sure you put it on and touch it up. The temptation of not putting it on or letting it wear off quickly is certainly there. I would advise getting someone else involved who will scold you or remind you about it.

I would recommend this product to anyone. The price is worth it as it works very well. I am very pleased with the result.

After months of encouraging/pestering our son to stop sucking his thumb (he is four), we finally decided to use a product to help. After doing some research, this one stood out as the most effective. Our son agreed that it was hard to stop on his own, and agreed to "extra help." The results are amazing. It has been 3 weeks, and he essentially stopped sucking after the first application. Now I think the urge/habit is really out of his system. We apply the product every 2 days, and plan to taper it off when it's been a little longer. One setback occurred when we had not applied it for 3 days (the bitter taste had dissipated), and he woke up and announced that he had sucked his thumb overnight. He seemed disappointed in himself for having sucked overnight and was initially resistant to reapplying the product. My recommendation is to be very regular in applying it during the crucial early phase when they need the most help. I am so glad we bought this product!!!! - Finger Sucking - Nail Biting Solutions - Thumb Sucking Remedy - Nail Biting'

18v Milwaukee Flashlight - wet-dry vacuums, milwaukee

This vacuum works great. I find that it works well even as the batteries are going down. It does eat batteries pretty quickly but I'm able to get everything done I need. I also vacuum more often now that I have it. One thing to keep in mind is that is does not come with batteries. It really only makes sense to buy it if you are already invested in Milwaukee tools. Milwaukee 0880-20 18-Volt Cordless Wet/Dry Vacuum

This is a great portable vacuum. My problem is that it was described as having "a long continuous run time." That time is actually, according to both Milwaukee (personal communication) and personal experience, about 11 minutes on a fully charged 18V battery. That was less than I expected and will necessitate buying a second battery. This vacuum with two batteries at $51.18 each becomes a pretty expensive proposition. I can recommend this vacuum only if you are already invested in Milwaukee portable tools and 18-volt lithium ion batteries.

One saving grace is that if you don't anticipate using the vacuum very long at any given time, the batteries do have a short recharge time, so one battery might be sufficient.

This is definitely the Milwaukee Tool quality that I have come to respect. It has plenty of pick-up power and best of all it works with my 18V Compact Li-ion batteries that came with my drill (It also works on 18V Ni-Cad batteries as well). The battery bay has two different mounts that allow the use of either style Milwaukee 18V battery (however, only one battery can be used at any given time). It has a float inside the pick-up chamber that turns it off if too much water comes in. The hose and cabinet are made from heavy duty material making it great for rugged use. It comes with two small wands one of which is for cracks and crevices and the other for general pick up. These are kept nicely tucked away under the lid in their perspective storage areas. The only thing I wish they would have added is a small brush attachment but that is a minor thing. My wife has already snagged it to use on the carpeted steps because of how easy it is to use. Very pleased indeed!

Can vacuum a whole car on one charge. It's very convenient when you don't feel like going for a power cord. The product was too costly when it came out, now it's priced more fair. It's a bit loud, however that is because it is powerful, so, i'm completely happy with the product.

Since I already own several Milwaukee 18V cordless tools and 2 batteries, this was a fantastic addition. For small jobs, this thing can't be beat. Lightweight, sturdy, extremely portable, great suction, good attachments. For jobs like vacuuming the car, picking up sawdust or drywall, and other small projects around the house, this is the first vacuum I go to. It's very well made, and I'm actually really impressed with the hose on it - really high quality and it stretches to probably 5 feet or so, but re-coils nicely. Much better quality than any typical wet/dry vac hose. And since it's a standard 1 1/4 hose, you can add a variety of additional attachments. Plus, you can use it as a blower too.

I have no idea what the continuous run-time is, I haven't used it for more than about 5 minutes straight. But, on a single V18 battery, I can use it intermittently for several weeks (1-2 minutes at a time every 3rd or 4th day) before I need to recharge the battery. This vacuum is compatible with all 4 versions of Milwaukee 18V batteries (V18, M18, M18 compact, and NiCad).

3 limitations: 1.) It's cordless, so don't expect to run it for a half hour straight and vacuum your entire house. 2.) To make it so portable, the storage for the attachments is small. It will only hold the 2 attachments it comes with, so if you add anything else (like a brush tool), you'll need to store them separately. 3.) It's got a special lock-in hose, so you can't take any 1 1/4" shop-vac hose and plug that in.

For what it's worth, my wife rolled her eyes when she saw this show up (thought I was just buying another toy). But she had to admit that she loves this thing now too. Keeps it in the hall closet and it's the first thing she grabs to vacuum up the cat litter off the floor.

If you have the batteries already, it's a great addition. But if you're just looking for a portable vacuum, this is probably close to a $150 investment by the time you're done (just look at the "frequently bought together" section of this page).

I have used it a few times. I love it for cleaning up after house projects. chances are a house project requires another 18v tool so i just bring the vac along and clean up when i am done. not as strong as a regular shop vac but strong enough to suck up screws that fall as well as sawdust.

i would buy it again for sure.

I love this thing for cleaning the car! Just grab it and go, rather than carry the huge house vacuum down, find an outlet, fight with cables and hoses... This thing is easy to pick up and get to where you need it, and even though the hose is quite short, it gets into every place you need it.

Battery life is ok, an XC battery lasts about 10 minutes, but the standard batteries are somewhat useless. I went through one XC and two standard batteries on a thorough cleaning of my car. Just enough juice to get through. You definitely need to be careful to turn the vacuum off when you're not actively using it, because there's not much battery life to spare.

The suction is great, on par with a household vacuum. Dust busters are simply useless compared to this.

I'm in love with Milwaukee lithium tools! If you have xc batteries, or a bunch of standard batteries, I'd recommend this. Having only two standards would not be enough to clean a whole car IMO and would be frustrating. If you had to buy batteries and a charger to run this, it would be way too expensive for my taste.

Two things I wish for:

1. Two speeds to extend the battery - for most things half the suction power would be enough.

2. A rotating brush. - Vacuum - 18v - Wet-dry Vacuums - Milwaukee'

Good Cheap Watch - watches, cheap watch

I'm on about my fourth or fifth version of this watch, and will keep on buying them as long as I can. They're very inexpensive yet very accurate, losing about a second every two days versus my atomic clock. It's also attractive enough for dress-up events. I have very small wrists and can't wear many expansion band watches, so this one works very well for me.
