Alegria By Pg Lite - Fun And Comfortable - alegria by pg lite - fun and com, clogs

I own both the Alegria Feliz and Palmoma styles (the two types of mary janes).

If you cannot afford $100 shoes that last 3-4 months only with heavy use, pass on them. If comfort and style reign supreme, go for it. I have had literally hundreds of complements on my shoes.

The good: These shoes are more comfortable than Dansko's and come in a variety of very fun and cute styles.

The bad: The base of my Paloma-style already has a crack after four months of heavy use. I have not had problems with the velcro and love the shoes so much that I would have them repaired at a shoe shop when that wears out. My Paloma's, though cracked, are still functional (for now).

The ugly: For the cost, these shoes ought to last like Dansko's (forever), but they are clearly not going to. Alegria By Pg Lite Fel-509 Suede Floral 41

I bought these shoes because of the style, they are unique and everyone likes them, including myself. After about 25 days the velcro on the strap was worn out and now I have a pair of $100.00 shoes and can't wear them. I wouldn't buy them unless they have a button for a strap!

I had ordered some sandals of the same brand over the summer so I knew the shoes would probably be just as comfortable. I was not disappointed, these shoes are extremely comfy and so cute. I ordered black but received black snake. I wouldn't have ordered snake embossed but I am not sending them back; the snake just makes them a little shinier.

This is a great pair of shoes. The first day that I wore them I was able to wear them for my full 12 hr shift. Very light weight. Very pretty and stylish. Slip resistant. I am very glad that I chose to purchase these shoes. - Alegria By Pg Lite - Fun And Com - Clogs - Comfort Shoes - Womens Clogs'

I bought the cable for use with a canon SD780 camera. It securely attached to the camera and my HDTV. I found that the miniHDMI side was adequately narrow to fit into the plug on the tiny SD780. It works perfectly. I was a little concerned by some bad reviews, but figured I'd give this cable a try considering that it was 1/3 the price of other miniHDMI-HDMI cables I looked at. I'm glad I did.

NOTE: HDMI is entirely digital. The 1's and 0's either transmit or they don't. You won't get a "better" picture by using more expensive cables. Here, because this cheap cable works, there is no reason to ever get a more expensive one. Tripp Lite P570-006 6ft HDMI to mini-HDMI, Digital Audio - Video Cable, 6'

I bought one of these to go along with my canon HG10 HD camcorder. Using the cable, the picture was grainy and miscolored on one TV, and didnt work on another TV. I did an amazon return/exchange (great btw) and the next one didnt work *at all*. I started to doubt the camcorder thinking maybe the mini HDMI port was bad. I took the camcorder to a Fry's Electronics store, and bought a different brand cable (30$) and tested it out on the spot. Worked like a charm. If you are getting this for a canon HG10, I would beware.

I bought the Canon HF-10 a week ago - it is a great camcorder. I also bought this Trip Lite Mini-HDMI to HDMI cable. When the items arrived, I tested the camera and was very happy. I then tried to play videos over mu Sony 52" HDTV through the HDMI port with this cable. It did not work at all. I began to worry about whether it was the cable or the HF-10 HDMI port. The component cable supplied by Canon worked great on HDTV in 1080i but not the HDMI. Finally, after a lot of investigation (several hours) I had my wife buy a SONY cable (about $40). It worked superbly! It appears to me that the quality control on these Tripp Lite cables is very poor. Reading the review you see that a lot arrived and did not work. I think Amazon should withdraw this item. I know that cables are a high profit item for electronics vendors. You can get them cheaper on e-bay if you shop around. Going for the Tripp Lite version cost me waste a lot of time. The HF-10 camera surely is great!

Dr. Bob Brown, Jr.

With the mixed reviews on this item, I ordered this cable with some hesitation. But what the heck! I'll take a chance. I just bought a similar cable at my local computer store. I paid $40. The more expensive cable not only doesn't perform any better, it doesn't appear to be made as well as the cable I purchased here for only a few dollars. Unlike the cable I purchased here, the more expensive cable doesn't even have gold plated jacks. Needless to say, the more expensive cable is being returned. I am using the Tripp Lite cable with my Panasonic Lumix ZS3 camera. It works great!

I like the quality of this cable even though I wish I could use a regular one, but unfortunately Sony puts a mini HDMI connector on their HD camcorders. It works perfectly between the Sony and a 1080p HDTV.

I ordered this cable with some low expectations because of some of the reviews. What i got was a perfect cable cable with no issues. I am sure that some people may have received a defective cable but most of the problem may be that the cable not being properly installed into the equipment.

I however would have to say go ahead and try it. What do you have to lose for the price.'

Highly Recommend - lens cleaner, 28mm

If you want to read the opinion of a professional photographer, read on...

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The TX10 is NOT Compatible with Sony Marine Pack Enclosures or any other enclosures.

Pros:

1) The TX10 shines in low-light still photography, it eliminates most of the noise even at ISO 800.

2) The small form factor means you can easily hide the camera from "predators."

3) It is water "resistant' but not truly waterproof aka. you shouldn't go scuba diving with it.

4) It's High Definition 1080p video is pretty good compared to other digital cameras in this price range.

5) Zooming while videotaping is possible. Most consumer digital cameras can't zoom while in video mode.

6) Surprisingly good wide-angle (you don't need a wide-angle adapter)

7) The panorama mode is cute and effective but not very high quality (noise is introduced due to panorama cropping).

8) Excellent flash coverage.

9) Choice of MPEG or AVCHD recording. MPEG is the best choice for compatibility and editing but it takes more space in your memory card. AVCHD is a pain to edit compared to MPEG.

Cons:

1) Compared to my old Canon HV20 the TX10 is simply unable to stabilize the image. Not a deal breaker but you may want to bring a tripod with you at all times.

2) Battery life is dismal, I cannot get more than 80 minutes of continued video shooting from a fully charged Sony battery. I understand third party batteries fair worse (if they work at all). This is a particularly poignant issue if you are near water since you cannot open the camera to change the battery then.

3) The TX10 can charge the battery "in-camera", it does not come with the standard battery charger, instead Sony has included a USB cable and a USB adapter. This is a terrible problem for travel photographers since the battery life is short but it takes several hours to recharge the a battery inside the camera, obviously, while it is charging, you are unable to take photos or videos. This also means you cannot charge your "spare battery" at the same time. In order to solve the problem, you would have to buy extra batteries and an external battery charger, so now you have to carry two chargers. This could have been easily avoided if Sony had included their regular battery charger as they do with older models.

4) All the 3D shooting modes are useless gimmicks, ignore them. They just take precious space in your memory card and you can't view 3D without special equipment.

5) A Mini HDMI to HDMI cable was not included, it could cost you up to $30 to buy a Sony cable. Just get a cheap one for a couple of bucks, don't buy the Sony one, HDMI cables are all compatible.

6) The interactive touch sensitive menu can only be described as a complex labyrinth, extremely awkward to navigate. If Sony was aiming for a friendly interface, they failed miserably.

7) The LCD touch screen is hyper-sensitive and the tiny icons are way to close to each other, the end result it that you rarely press the icon you were aiming for, by the time you solve the mess you created accidentally, your subject has fled the scene. You can help this by "hiding" the icons but then, well, that also requires extra time. Results in an above average learning curve.

8) This camera is extremely slow sometimes, mostly because the 1080p video and the larger 16.2MP pictures require more processing time. Not an ideal camera for action photos.

9) If you like manual exposure controls, forget it, this camera will make you crazy mad. It is automated, albeit it has a nice white balance mode. On the other hand, the auto presets do a better job than a human would in many cases.

10) In video mode, the color saturation is lacking and the video is overexposed 1/2 stop, this creates a somewhat washed out bluish appearance. I suspect they rushed this camera to the market and it just needs a firmware update to fix this. On the other hand, the still photo color balance and exposure is much more pleasant. Sadly the camera "forgets" your manual exposure adjustments when you turn it off.

11) The digital zoom is surprisingly the worse of its kind, quite useless, but I never use it anyway.

12) Attention Divers: The Sony "Marine Pack" enclosure is incompatible with the DSC-TX10.

13) For amateur divers: TX10 is NOT truly waterproof no matter what Sony may want you to believe. The camera is only "water-resistant" at best. It is possible to open the battery latch underwater by accident (there is no secondary locking mechanism like Panasonic's) and the seals are not strong enough anyway. Remember, all it takes is one tiny drop of water to fog your camera lens from the inside.

I have yet to see an "waterproof" consumer camera that can last more than a few hours underwater without a case. The internet is full of horror stories regarding this issue. There is no need to gamble with your investment. However, I highly recommend the TX10 for use in the rain or the snow. Maybe even kayaking.

Overall, I like this camera, it takes superb photos, not as good as a Nikon SRL but the color balance is pretty decent for the price but if you don't need a water "resistant" camera then get the recently released Sony HX7V, it takes better pictures and it is less expensive.

By the way: I returned the TX10. The issues mentioned above became too much of a nuisance. Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX10 16.2 MP Waterproof Digital Still Camera with Exmor R CMOS Sensor, 3D Sweep Panorama and Full HD 1080/60i Video (Black)

I own the TX9 which has been stellar thus far (with the exception of the flash failing and needing replacement from Sony) with excellent video quality and very good photo quality. My review of the TX10 is based on my experience with the TX9.

Rather than getting deep into a wordy review of this camera I will give good/bad qualities:

Good:

- Water proofing to 15 feet is a really handy feature. This camera handled pool water like a champ with no issues of water infiltration anywhere.

- Sharp video with beautiful color saturation. Compared to the TX9, the TX10 has slightly better video quality.

- Quick functioning zoom, especially during video recording and compared to the TX9.

- Menu layout is a bit more intuitive compared to the TX9.

- Camera body is smaller compared to TX9.

- Fish-eye effect seems to be less compared to the TX9 at wide angles. (but it's still there)

- Steady shot seems more aggressive compared to TX9 which makes video more enjoyable to watch.

- Ability to snap photos while taking video.

- Slightly improved low light performance especially in video.

Bad:

- Audio seems muffled compared to TX9. I believe this is due to the water proof material that encapsulates the microphones, but there is a noticeable degradation compared to the TX9.

- Terribly slow start-up, especially taking video. Time from turning the camera on to taking a photo is, on average, 6 seconds. Time from turning the camera on to taking video can take as long as 9 seconds.

- Superior auto mode and intelligent auto mode has lackluster performance compared to the TX9.

- Zoomed video is less sharp compared to the TX9.

- Because of the smaller form factor, I find myself catching my fingers in photos and video more often compared to the TX9.

- On the TX9, you can be in photo mode and have the option to immediately take video at the push of a button on the touch screen. On the TX10, there is a video record button on the top of the camera, but when you push it in, it takes about 5 1/2 seconds before video recording starts. On the TX9, it is immediate.

- Don't notice a real difference in picture quality with the 16.2 Megapixels.

- Eats batteries compared to the TX9. Not sure why, but I only got 25 minutes of video from a full battery where I get 40 minutes on the TX9.

- Does not come with a plug in charger like the TX9, but rather a USB cable that plugs into the phone to charge the battery.

- Smaller LCD compared to the TX9, with what I perceive to be lower resolution quality which makes it somewhat difficult to determine if a photo is properly focused.

- Auto focus is not as quick during video compared to the TX9, sometimes resulting in fuzzy video especially in low light.

- Menu uses swipe technology similar to iphone and Ipod touch. However, it is not nearly as responsive and often results in selecting items you did not mean to select.

Overall, I like the camera, but I think that unless you will use the waterproof ability on a regular basis I think the TX9 is a better buy. They are very close in image quality with the TX10 slightly edging out the TX9 in video quality. The smaller form factor may be an issue for those with larger hands. My original intention was to keep this camera and sell the TX9 on ebay, but I actually think I'll return the TX10 and wait for the next generation. - 28mm - Cybershot - Digital Camera Battery - Lens Cleaner'

Cordless String Trimmer - trimmer, weed whacker

I wanted to replace my Homelite 14" dual-line string trimmer as I finally had enough of the noise, pollution, starting issues, mixing/storing of gas & oil, engine maintenance, and the constant need (and effort) to replace the pre-cut line strips.

Cordless is the way to go. However, given the current limitations of battery technology, I was concerned about finding a string trimmer that had the necessary balance of power, run time, weight, and charge time. I also wanted a reliable unit that would give me years of trouble-free service.

I did my usual due-diligence, and spent hours reading reviews and handling a few units at the local hardware stores. I work in the computer/electronics field, so I am very familiar with battery technology and the other parts of a string trimmer. I know I wanted Lithium Ion batteries with >30 minutes run time. I was also more interested in the highest AH (Amp Hour) rating than Volts (e.g., 18V, 20V, 36V, etc). Marketing is pushing the voltage rating (largely because the lower-cost Ni-cad batteries have a lower Amp-Hour rating in comparison to Lithium Ion batteries of the same weight). However, voltage is a poor indicator of how powerful and long the trimmer will run. For example; both a tiny hearing-aid battery and D-size flashlight battery have the same voltage rating (1.5V), however the D-size battery has a much higher Amp-Hour rating. If you replaced the D cell in a flash light with the tiny hearing-aid battery, the light would barely be visible and would drain the battery in less than a minute. Whereas the D cell would light the lamp at full brightness for over 30 minutes. Same basic principle applies to a trimmer. Choices as of now (2010) for Li-Ion batteries range from 1.3 Ah to 6.0 Ah. 6 Ah is a huge amount of capacity! 1.3 Ah is small, and given the amount of current (Amps) required each minute to spin a string-trimmer motor powerful enough to cut grass, is only suitable for a postage-stamp sized yards.

For comparison; as of 2011, a hi-capacity laptop Li-Ion battery is ~ 4.5 Ah.

In addition, Li-Ion batteries do not have the memory effect that NiCad batteries do, so I do not have to totally discharge the battery before recharging. That is a major weakness for Ni-Cads because you always end up charging the battery for the full 12+ hours before each use. Furthermore, Li-Ion batteries hold their charge over a much longer period of time than a Ni-Cad. I can fully charge a Li-Ion battery and, a week or so later, top it off with a quick charge (say 90 minutes) as required over the season.

Unfortunately high Amp-Hour Li-Ion string-trimmer choices are very limited at this time. The Greenworks 21602 and Troy-Bilt TB57 are really the only choices; the TB57 being the cheaper of the two. They are basically the same unit. They both use the identical Li-Ion 6AH battery and 4 ½ hr. charger. The only real difference (other than color) is the shaft, throttle switch, and the swivel hinge for edging on the Greenworks. BTW: you could buy the TB57 and use the battery on the Greenworks leaf blower. I handled the TB57 at Lowes, and I agree with the negative reviews about the short shaft and force required to hold the safety switch in.

In the end, I ordered the Greenworks mainly because I am 6' tall and the TB57 was just a little short (even with the telescopic shaft at maximum) and I know my finger would get numb from holding the power switch down.

I really struggled with the decision to buy this particular brand of string trimmer. I was hesitant to buy an unknown brand; especially since the Greenworks web site did not list any near-by service locations to drop the unit off for warranty repair (only option is mail in), and reading two reviews on Amazon where the warranty hot line was non-existent or unresponsive. That makes Greenwork's four-year warranty worthless. I am also concerned about the longevity of the electric motor. Will it last +5 years? I noticed two people already experienced early-life motor failures (one Greenworks and one Troy Bilt). I plan on giving the Greenworks a good workout and return it to Amazon if I find anything I don't like during the first 30 days.

Well I got the Greenworks four days after ordering it (selected the free shipping option) from Amazon (exceeding my expectation and one of the main reasons why I buy from Amazon).

Assembly was very easy (needed a Philips screw driver for the one screw). Build quality seems good. I do agree with one reviewer that the plastic handle feels a little cheap as it flexes a bit. However, that flex does make the unit even more comfortable. The shaft is long enough for me. The balance and weight are very good.

Regarding cutting power; this is not a commercial grade trimmer that you use for a landscaping business. The power is sufficient to cut through dense grass; however I have to move a little slower than I did with my gas trimmer. This trimmer is suited for yards that have been maintained well in the past. I would not recommend it for a yard that is, or often becomes, overgrown (i.e., grass or weeds over 12" tall).

The automatic line feed works very well. Each time I start the unit it feeds ¼" of new line. The only drawback is that I go through a lot of line when I move from tree to tree; stopping the unit each time to save battery power. The four hour charge time is adequate as it does keep me from missing a scheduled grass cutting if I forget to charge the battery the day before (can't do that with a 12 hr. Ni-cad charger). Like any battery powered trimmer, the noise level is very low. I am now able to trim the yard in the early morning (before I start using the lawn mower) without getting my neighbors upset. So far I am satisfied with this purchase.

However, I did notice the motor slow down to about 1/3 the speed while using it. The speed returned to normal when I released the throttle and pressed it in again. This happened three times already. I am not sure if the motor has a built in thermal power reduction (which is good as it would prevent the motor from burning up). If it starts to happen more often, I will return the trimmer to Amazon.

Update week 1:

Battery life is excellent. I have used this trimmer over a five day period on the original charge. After +30 minutes of use, I still have three of four battery status lights on.

I have noticed that the motor air vents clog with grass clippings after a few minutes of use. This may contribute to the motor overheating/failure problems some are experiencing. I now make it a practice to clean the air vents (wipe off the external grass and blow out the grass inside the motor) every few minutes. I think Greenworks should design a thick foam ring that fits over the motor to trap the clippings. Then all I would need to do is periodically rinse the foam ring in soapy water.

Update week 3:

After 3 weeks of use, I am very pleased with this trimmer. It took awhile to get use to the fact that it is always ready to go with just a push of a button; no need to charge before each use, no worries bout prepping the motor and trying to start it, etc. I now find myself pulling out the trimmer when I come from work and spot a few weeds while walking along the driveway or sidewalk. The battery status bar finally dropped down to 2 of 4 lights; so I charged it up to give the battery charger one more test before the 30 day exchange period with Amazon ends.

I have not experienced any more slow downs. I suspect that was caused by clogged air vents.

I used the edger for the first time last week; just pushed the big button on the shaft near the motor and the shaft pivots 90 degrees. The wheel rolled smoothly and the angle of the shaft was perfect as it gave me a good view of the cut. It was much easier than I thought and produced consistent results; far better than the free-hand edging method I have been using for years.

I have already used all the string on the one spool and inserted the free second spool (BTW - easy to change). I went to Home Depot and purchased a 300' re-fill package of the .65 blue line to re-fill the spools as needed. For ~ $7, I have enough line for years.

However, the real shining star is not the trimmer, but the 6AH Lithium-Ion battery. The capacity is perfect for all but mega-size yards.

I received the Greenworks 24602 blower for Father's Day; it uses the 20V/6AH Li-Ion battery from the trimmer. Now I can trim the yard and use the blower to clear off the grass clippings from the driveway and sidewalks. The blower with this battery makes it very convenient to use and makes it more versatile. For example, I used it to blow dry my car after I washed it (beats ringing out drying clothes). I also opened the car doors and blew out some dog hair and dust from inside the car.

I would buy the Greenworks chainsaw (also uses the same battery) to cut up the many small limbs that blow down after a storm. Unfortunately, the current $69 10-inch chainsaw is too expensive and large for what I need. A 6-8 inch model (with a lower cost) would be ideal to cut up limbs and small tree shoots into small enough pieces to toss them in a trash can.

Bottom line: "It's the battery stupid" (I think that's a Bill Clinton quote); the fully capable string trimmers (either the Greenworks or Troy-Bilt) and leaf blower only exist because of it. Pink Flower Headband - flower headband, baby head bands

This is an adorable headband for baby girls, but unfortunately too snug. It put a deep red mark all the way around my 3 month old daughter's head and the indentation remained nearly all day! My husband wouldn't allow her to even wear it for pictures because he was worried it was hurting her. Maybe if the elastic was replaced with looser fabric it would be better. Mud Pie Baby Perfectly Princess Head Band, 0-12 Months

I love this headband, I thought the price was reasonable and the headband itself was super cute.

It was a little tight on my 6 month old baby's head though. That is the one complaint I had. But other than that, it was nicely packaged in a little box, and I just hope I can buy more of these cute headbands!

I bought this darling head band to go with the mud pie perfectly princess tutu dress and it just made the outfit even better. The flower is beautiful and the poka-dots are playfull. This headband can go with so many other baby clothes you might already have and just make the outfit. Since my baby is not born yet, I can not say how it fits, however, I'm hoping for the best!

As much as the band is adorably cute the width is too wide and heavy for the age mentioned. It keeps sliding off my daughter head that I just give up. I would think with its thickness and type of fabric would be better for 2 year olds.

If you're looking for a cute headband with a big flower, then look no further! The flower on this headband is just the right size - big without being too big. I also bought the matching pink and brown booties and the two together are very cute.

I purchased this product as a gift for a friend's baby. It arrived promptly and is absolutely adorable. The baby has worn this with the rest of her outfit to make it complete. The mommie loves it and it is precious on Arabella!! - Flower Headband - Baby Head Bands - Baby Headband - Brown Polka Dots'

Upright Vacuums - upright vacuum, upright vacuums

We call my wife the Vacuum Lady. All she does is Vacuum .When she gets home from work the first thing she does is grab the vacuum. We've had our 5 amp professional Eureka Vacuum since 1977. Although it's pretty beaten up it is still running fine.I wanted to buy her a new one. We bought a new Eureka lightweight and brought it back the next day. The sound was too high pitched and it felt like a toy vacuum. The brush is made out of plastic. In fact with all my research I found out that most are plastic not metal like the Eureka C2094G .The metal ones last forever. Now we finally found the exact replacement the Eureka Heavy Duty Commercial Series . It has a 50 foot cord and that's the longest you will find.Instead of putting all extras and accessories into the vacuum it is just pure raw power .If you want a vacuum that lasts 25 years this is it. Eureka C2094G Heavy Duty Cloth Bag Upright Commercial Vacuum

I used to work in vacuum repair and this vacuum is fantastic. It is tough and it should withstand a fair bit of abuse, and when it comes to cleaning carpet, it will do at least as good a job as many of the far more expensive vacuums. I wanted to get this vacuum for my wife a year ago, but she insisted on a B*ssel for $90, and she has regreted it. Now that I got her this one (I didn't give her an option this time), she wishes she had listened to me last year. She loves it.

This vacuum holds much in common with the S*nitaire commercial vacuum series (i.e. 600 & 800 series). In fact, it uses many of the exact same parts as the S*nitaires. The part numbers are also the same. The majority of parts are interchangeable and very inexpensive. The single most expensive replacement part is the motor, and a careful shopper can find it online for around $60. The disturbulator (beater bar) bearings are easily replaceable (and inexpensive) should the need arise, and replacement wheels and switches are VERY cheap ($2.66 for a rear wheel, $4.44 for a front wheel, and about $6 for a switch). Cord retainers do break, and that may be the weakest part of the vacuum, but a replacement set is only $6.61.

The vacuum is simple to repair and maintain. The most complicated task is changing the fan should it ever break. This involves a Philips head and possibly a T15 torx (if I remember correctly). Two screws underneath hold the cover on, and then four screws (I think) hold the motor in place. Take the motor out, then remove the pulley (it screws off backwards, I believe), change the fan, and reverse the process. If the foam gasket on the bottom of the motor breaks or is useless, it is easily replaceable as well. If you don't have a replacement gasket handy, then bead some silicon caulking around the base, then remount the motor, but you won't be able to use the vacuum until the caulking cures, which should be left alone overnight.

This is not the most beautiful machine in the world but it sure gets the job done. I had owned a very basic version of this type of vacuum before and gave it away. I kick myself everyday for that. These are the only vacuums that I have found that get all of the dog hair out of my berber carpet and that is not an easy task. I hope I will never own any other type of vacuum again so I hope Eureka keeps on making these for many years to come.

OK, let me keep this short. In the past 11 years, I have gone through 5 vacuum cleaners. Most of these machines were flimsy, awkward, poorly designed, dirty, noisy, and just burnt out after awhile. I've been looking for a vacuum that will LAST me and one that actually CLEANS carpets the proper way. I don't care about "bagless cyclonic action" or "horsepower" ratings(which don't mean a thing anyway). Nor do I want a machine that looks like it came from outer space, that weighs about a ton, and features attachments that I'll never even use... I mean I just want a machine that does what it's name implies-VACUUMS. Well, I finally found it in the Eureka C209...

Just for the record, this is sold primarily as a commercial vacuum(for hotels, businesses, etc) so you're not going to find this thing in the aisles at Wal*Mart or JC Penney. Being fed up with the mass-market cleaners, I went to a local independent vacuum store to purchase this. Yes, it is pricey, but you get what you pay for. This is *STRICTLY* a carpet machine. There are no hoses, attachments, or other gadgets included. The 50ft power cord is more than enough to reach into many areas of my home. There are six different positions to set the cleaner to the proper height, for vacuuming everything from old shag carpeting to low-pile berber. It is a little noisy, but that doesn't concern me. There are no filters to clog, and no hoses with strange twists and turns that always seem to plug up... This is the type of machine your mother used to have--the way they USED to build them. The kind that lasts you 30 years, not the throw-away vacuums that flood the market today. Is it worth every penny? YOU BET. This should be the last machine I'll ever need. Solid construction, metal body, and chrome parts ensure a long life. Try it and see for yourself. Even Consumer Reports said that most vacuums today are just cheap, throw-away toys. Go for this and you'll never look back. Thanks Eureka! I'm finally happy, and what a difference it made in my carpets!

This vacuum came in a fairly small box and was easily assembled in about 10 minutes. This cleaner doesn't have any hoses or attachments, but is just a basic, old-fashioned vacuum cleaner. All the parts are heavy duty and it is solidly constructed. This is the best vacuum I have ever owned.

I have never owned a vac that worked as well as this one. I purchased a Eureka hand held vac to use for cleaning stairs and corners, but this vac does an amazing job at just cleaning carpet. I decided to get rid of my bagless vacuum because it was too dirty to clean, and the filters needed to be washed every time I vacuumed. I found this at Sams*Club for 140 delivered. It is well made and is definately a vacuum to last a couple of decades. - Sweeper - Upright Vacuums - Cleaning - Upright Vacuum'

Samsung Lcd Hdtv - samsung monitor, 1080p

UPDATE; July 2010: It has been nine months since I have been using the monitor and thought it was time for an update. The monitor has been used heavily; an average of 18 hours per day for work and recreation. Several things have changed; the computer that drives the display was substituted for a new one running at 64 bits with the new Intel I-5 (3.2 GHz) processor. The new graphic cards is a NVIDIA GT 260 with 1.8 GBs of memory and the RAM installed in the computer is 8GBs. The VGA cable was substituted for a DVI and said changes result in a total Windows Experience Index; WEI of 5.9. The limiting factor for such a relatively low number is the HDD since the video card WEI is 7.1. The resolution that the monitor currently has is 1370 x 768 (which is the optimum for my needs of side by side screens). The SyncMaster has not had any problems in spite of such heavy use and it is regularly enjoyed as a second TV. The current price for this device on Amazon is $271.00.

The comments received on the original review have been greatly appreciated and hope that this & other reviews continue being useful to all consumers.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Samsung's SyncMaster P2570HD offers plenty of inputs, a descent HD-TV monitor, basic speakers, and a remote control with all necessary features. Also, great style and very good performance are included in a panel less than 2" deep. But, no VGA cable included, no height or tilt adjustment and Samsung's website does not have an updated driver for Windows 7. Best for those of us that need (or want) a new big screen monitor that might be also be used as a TV.

It is an LCD Display with 24.6 diagonal inches of screen and I paid $339.00 On Line. After searching on the Internet for reviews on the new Samsung's (not many found), decided on giving a try to this new product. Has multiple inputs; from VGA to HDMI that and an integrated TV tuner, speakers and even the power supply (connects directly to an outlet) in a fairly light device.

Is an attractive device with lots of shine, transparent surfaces and a matte screen. The base is a glossy black oval with hues of red on the perimeter. A transparent glass bluish neck anchors the monitor [pic1]. The aspect ratio is 16:9 which makes it very modern looking when compared to the Apple products. The borders of the screen have a 5/16" clear area [pic4] and on the rear, all input jacks are recessed about one inch and face backwards, not downwards like other monitors/TVs [pic6]. This can make hard flush wall mounting the device. Two small speakers face downward and there is an 18" area on the rear upper part for heat dissipation (remember that the power supply is inside the device).

I tested the monitor with a 2002 Dell XPS running Windows 7 [pic3]. Tried to get an updated driver for the new OS but none yet available. Refresh rate was awesome, colors were bright, blacks were not seen and no distortion or bleeding of the screen was noted. In order to "stress" the video card to its limits (plus the shared RAM), was able to work with eight screens at the same time and even play a DVD trough the WMP-11 and at the same time, play that same movie stored on an External HDD trough VLC [pic5]; no problems!

Then decided to customize the settings for the display and used the remote control for this (instead of the touch sensing buttons on the lower R front area). The Remote [pic5] is quite intuitive and settings were very easy to adjust for optimum viewing. Brightness and contrast had to be decreased to 67% compared with the factory settings which were 80% for both. Something unexpected, when switching from a regular 17 inch LCD monitor to this big screen, the mouse needs more area to properly work. Otherwise, adjustments need to be made for said device but I'll try that later.

After one month of using my Samsung P2570HD solely as a Computer Monitor, I connected it to the cable TV and DVP player to evaluate its performance. Because neither the DVR nor DVD player had more than one HDMI outputs, the comparison needed to be done by stages. The cable from my Cable TV provider [not the DVR/descrambler] was directly connected to the TV input of the Samsung and auto scan was programmed [pic7]. Then, searched for a TV transmission in High Definition [pic9].

Connected the Philips DVD player to the Samsung and to my 40" Sony Bravia LCD. First trough Composite [pic3] and later trough HDMI [pic 10]. Compared picture quality and trough the "custom" setting, tried to make the image of the Samsung as close as possible to the Bravia [pic 11]. The screen adjustments were made using a specific scene from Zefirelli's Traviatta because the only illumination for Violetta's party scene is by candles. On the second configuration [pic12] adjustments were not necessary since the Samsung had been connected through its HDMI input.

Results:

1. As a stand along TV set, the television picture quality is great with plenty of adjustments for us to customize to specific room/ambience[s].

2. The TV itself took about seven minutes to scan the 900 channels of my Cable TV provider and classify them as High Definition or "normal". Worth to mention that the auto scan did not select any inactive or scrambled channels; great!

3. The audio is not the best on the lower frequencies since the speakers are fairly small and face downwards. But, this device is intended to be used mainly as a TV/Monitor with external speakers and supplemental bass boost. So the bass module or subwoofer of your computer's audio devices compensates those modest integrated speakers.

4. Having so many input alternatives, users can select the one (or the best one) for the source device(s) be HDMI, Composite, S-VHS or even the regular three prongs A/V [pic6].

Compared with the LCD Sony Bravia:

1. The screen of this 25 inch (24.6 actually) monitor/TV is almost 2/3 the size of the 40 inch Bravia.

2. As expected, trough Composite, picture quality of the Samsung is lower than the Sony [pic10]but thanks to the many adjustable settings, I was able to almost have the same display in both devices [pic11].

3. Trough HDMI, the Bravia picture is still better [pic12] because of its size and Sony markets the Bravia as a TV, not a TV/computer monitor.

Conclusions:

As a stand along TV, the p2570HD is a great device and will not disappoint anyone as long as they do the proper connections and setting adjustments. As a video playing device it performs excellently especially through its HDMI input. Composite is almost as good but you have to see what output capabilities your specific equipment has. As a computer monitor has been performing in an excellent way, especially with a new inexpensive EVGA GeForce card that increased the WEP from 3.5 to 4.9

Having stated all this I would recommend this device to be used for anyone who wants a great Computer Monitor to be used in a home office that occasionally will become a guest room. Have not mentioned but the Remote is quite handy allowing users to switch between devices and even adjusting picture, contrast and so many other features that will take users to the optimum viewing situation. If you are looking for a TV that can be used as a monitor or hooked to your computer, perhaps, there are some other better alternatives but that was not my need. Pic2 shows you a size comparison with a 10" NetBook and the I-Phone.

In September, read that a specific warehouse was selling this device for $350.00. I called all of them within a 50 mile radius of downtown Seattle and none had it. While you decide on which monitor/TV is best for your needs, here are some photos of the monitor so you can see what it looks like since obviously, you are considering it. As a monitor and DVD playback device, I would give it five stars. As a TV, would give it only four because of the speakers.

Overall, the Samsung p2570HD is a great device and most of the consumers will find a place/setting for its optimum use. And also, works perfectly with Windows 7. Have fun searching for your next Monitor/TV and hope that this review was useful for your selection. Iphone Headphones - iphone, iphone headset

I purchased these headphones under the impression that they came with 3 different sized earbuds (my friend has them in white, she also got them from amazon and those came with 3 different buds), but mine did not. I wouldn't mind except they are big on me and uncomfortable. Other than the fit though, they do work with the IPhone3G, and they can be used to control music playback, answering the phone, etc. High Quality 3.5mm Black Color Stereo Handsfree Headset with Answer Button for Apple 3G iPhone/ Apple iPhone 3G S

I got this to replace the standard RIM Blackberry headset which comes in all new Blackberry boxes. Its a headset that makes the pack-in iPod headphones sound good, so its not difficult to be better. The mic isn't fantastic, the fit on any of the three canal rubbers isn't perfect for me, but its just seven dollars... I bought these for talking on the phone, not for listening to music, so the sound issues listed above aren't really a concern for me. Voice quality is fine. If you want to talk without a bluetooth headset, go ahead and buy. If you want to listen to music, buy good headphones.

It is a headset, and it has an answer button, and it works with the iPhone.

Does it deliver good sound? No. the audio sounds like it would if it were under water, and passing though a tin can. It does have a good headset, and the earbuds are sturdy and snug, but there is just no life behind the drivers. If you do not use the iphone any music or videos, then this is just right for you. It does work well as a good noise canceling backup haedset if your other high quality pair gets lost or broken.

I was looking for a cheap replacement for my standard iphone head phones that broke. I bought this pair and another pair of head phones. This one was my favorate to start with. The cord length was the best and the sound was decent. One thing I noticed right away is both head phones were labeled Right. Which is fine for $5 I don't expect perfection. However after a day sound would only come out of one side. - Iphone - Iphone Headphones - Iphone Headset'

Emergency Supplies

I love this backpack has some extra room - so you can add essential items for your family that aren't included. Overall - a really good start. I added a Swiss army knife, some gum and hard candy, pull ups (I have small kids), sanitary napkins, and a few other odds and ends to make this a more complete bag for our family.

I used this as a start, then created my own bag (we have five in our family). I would feel very safe with just the contents that came in the bag though. The things I added were just "extras" that were important to me.

If you don't have a 72 hour kit - go ahead and purchase this one. It will get you at least moderately prepared and you can build from there. The bag is small, so it will easily fit in almost any trunk and I "think" would probably even fit in a motorcycle carrier. So, just like jumper cables should be in every trunk, this would be an easy way to be a little more safe. The food products and water are good for five years, so you don't have to think about it and rotate things out every six months as you would with something like bottled water. Quakehold! 70280 Grab-'n-Go Emergency Kit, 2-Person, 3-Day Backpack

This kit has almost everything you need for an emergency. It is compact, and easy to take with you. I only needed to add an emergency radio, flashlight and some batteries. It is a time saver also. It is easier than trying to gather all the products that are included in it. A real bargain!

Hello

I highly recommend this Grab and Go pack, just to have in the car or home in case of emergency. My comment about the size notwithstanding, it has everything to get me by for a few days should something nasty happen. I have supplemented it with my own first aid and fire starting additions, and it should prove handy if I ever need it.

I purchased this as kind of a starter kit, and while it helps to give you an idea of some useful things to put together, it really falls short in delivering several of them. What I found was that it had the cheapest possible versions of everything it was providing. After getting this and looking what was in it, I pretty much started from scratch with a new bag (the one that came with the kit has a single stitch that was already failing when I first opened it with a 3-inch tear by the zipper).

For ~$40, you get a good starter kit, though:

Emergency food bars

Water

Emergency Blankets

VERY basic first aid kit

Light sticks

Dust masks

Nitrile gloves

Whistle

Ponchos

Tissue

My problems are as follows:

The backpack was falling apart from the get-go.

The first aid kit was too basic to be very useful (it's the kind that you might toss in your back pocket for daily carry).

The emergency blankets are pretty standard and cheap to buy.

The 12-hour light sticks are easily and cheaply upgraded to the 200hr LED glow sticks for $5 per 3-pack at Home Depot.

Dust masks can be had at the dollar store.

Gloves are really cheap (the ones that came in my kit were replaced immediately as they were just too cheap to rely on).

The whistle is just a whistle.

Ponchos are pretty standard and cheap to buy.

Tissue could be replaced with a ziplock bag of tissues and be just as effective.

If you're looking to build a cheap emergency kit, look at the individual contents of this and decide what you need. If I were ever to rely on this, I would be a bit afraid. That said, after buying this I had a lot of fun rebuilding it with an "I can get better" attitude and ended up spending quite a bit more buying "better" versions of its contents and filling some gaps. $40 isn't too bad a price to get at least part way there, but I can't see why they even bothered with such a low quality backpack to hold it all, as I'm pretty sure I use higher quality grocery bags.

This product makes no false statements. You get what it says. It is very much only for an emergency. The bag is small enough to make it a daily travler in any car. The first aid kit is just enough for basic cuts and such. The bag has about a 4" by 4" section to keep additional items like a multi-tool and flashlight. Do not expect a large bag for "survial" equipment, it is a basic emergency kit.

I order "Quakehold! 70280 Grab-n-Go Emergency Kit" for $45 but then also ordered "Deluxe 2-Person by SurvivalKitsOnline Perfect Survival Kit for Emergency Disaster Preparedness" for $99 and you get so much more with that puppy. The Quakehold pack is 1/4 the size and full. The SurvivalKitsOnline pack is larger with way more pockets and has room for other items to be added. I stuffed the Quake items into the SurvivalKitsOnline pack. Also added a knife sharpenter and military compass, 5-in-1 shovel, bowie knife, 150 feet of rope and cord, all-weather gloves, plus more to be added. It still has room. Sure the pack tops around 40+ #'s but you have everything in it. Prepare your bug-out kit bB4 you need it people!!

This is great for an emergency, the pack has the vital things like water food bars. enough for three days

I think this pack is a great starting point. I think it would be good to create your own grab and go. I put things in there that are not included in this pack. plus I bought my own back pack which is far larger.

This pack is small. Some of the items in my larger pack quality compass paracord leatherman 300 multi tool waterproof matches. magnifying glass. water treatment tablets extra emergency blankets flint starter. A small hammer

Extra bandages, I am not finished with this yet, but you get the idea things you may not be able to do without

in any emergency situation. I do recomend the quake kit!!!But also make your own you can never be over prepared.

This kit has a bunch of good stuff that would have taken me weeks to find, buy and figure out and probably cost me a whole lot more. I like the convenience and mix of products. I added some personal stuff to the kit and put it in my car. With all the threats of attack, earthquakes, fires and floods, I don't think you can ever be too prepared! The only thing I added were goggles because I remember the people from 9-11 trying to escape with all the dust in their eyes.'

Grand Carrera - tag heuer, grand carrera

I got this watch for my birthday! Although it was not purchased from amazon this is a great price, about 1200 less then what was paid. very stylish and gets lots compliments. I do have smaller wrist and the watch still looks great! TAG Heuer Men's CAV511A.BA0902 Grand Carrera Chronograph Calibre 17 RS Watch

Upon receiving the watch, I embraced its fully glory -- truly amazing time piece. TAG Heuer created a watch that has a, nice, sturdy weight to it, an amazingly fluid and accurate mechanism and to top it of, comes with one heck of a luxurious box that weighs around 3-4 lbs. Though, there is one caveat: This watch is an automatic. That means wearing it everyday is recommended to keep the mechanism going - that'll mostly stop it from losing time. If it loses more time than you like, setting it back up will only take minutes, if not less.

If you're in the market for a luxury watch that actually tells time accurately, get this watch. You won't be disappointed; I give my word on that.

Side note: The watch Amazon sells did not come with papers of authenticity (Amazon doesn't send them for TAGs - at all). That caused some issues for me. Nonetheless, this review is for the watch, and it's fantastic.

Classic Luxury Watch, my only comment is the stopwatch minutes dial on the left is hard to read.. Its a good size, its quite chunky but doesn't weigh the arm down like a breitling or other large watches

I purchased the Tag watch for a cousin's fiancee. She wanted to surprise him with the watch as a wedding present. Amazon does not accept paypal and my bank kept refusing to allow the transaction because of the cost of the combined online purchase. I had to use a credit card and then pay it. Stressful and annoying as it took days before Amazon and my bank could figure out what the hold up was on the order and I had requested next day shipping! When the watch arrived I found that although the picture showed a black face on the watch it was actually brown. Also the watches are "allegedly" original Tag Heuer but the men's watch was missing the authenticity card and the pamphlet for servicing. All in all, I will never purchase a multi thousand dollar item via Amazon. - Carrera - Chronograph - Tag Heuer - Grand Carrera'

Construction Staplers

Just bought a Senco SNS65 to do the siding, sheathing, soffit, facia, etc. on the house I am remodeling. It works great, plenty of power for both 1" and 2" staples. I'm using 1" rough cut siding on the log house and it drives through and flush every time. I'm glad I bought it. Senco SNS45XP 16-Gauge Construction Stapler

SENCO has been around a long time and it shows, it's a top of the line product. Well made, tough construction, lightweight, comfort plus, makes this product worth the money. It's depenability and craftmanship make the investment worthwhile.

I work in roofing and I used Porter Cable nailers for a long time. When my last Porter Cable nailer broke down on me in the middle of a job I went with Senco under the recomendation of my friend whom is also a roofer and a former construction worker. Ive had this stapler for almost 9 months now and it still amazes me every time I use it.

Fire rate is amazing. It honestly sounds like a machine gun and every staple it drives goes in correctly and without jams. Its really light and the handle is very comfortable. I can drive staples all day in plywood and not have a blister on my hand or have sore arms.

In the 9 months I have used it it has only jammed about three times, and those jams were when I changed brands of staples that had a really sticky and cheap varnish to them which caused the gun to go haywire.

My only gripes are that the front end spring that holds the driving assembly in place can get loose causing your gun to misfire. Simple solution for that though, just get some pressure pliers with a wide mouth and compress the spring enough to hold it in place. Also the finish on the piston head chamber can get really worn out really fast. But hey youre buying this tool for work not for looks right? The CFM required to use it is a little high but if you need the kind of power this gun delivers then you shouldnt really have a problem with that. If you need something more casual I suggest the SNS40

I highly recommend this nailer for all professional contruction workers, last a long time and when they do eventually break down its very cheap to fix.

I RECEINTLEY BOUGHT THIS GUN FOR NAILING OFF PLYWOOD. I COULDN`T BELIEVE THE SPEED IT WOULD SPIT OUT THE STAPLES; IT SOUNDED LIKE AN UZI. THIS IS MY FAVORITE AIRTOOL I HAVE BY FAR! I RECOMEND THIS GUN TO EVERY HOMEBUILDER!

I bought this nailer back in October of 2004 and since the the first day of use there has been nothing but trouble. It jammed on me many times before I realized it needed to be lubricated several times throughout the days time. It is now January and I went to use it on another job and it just didn't work at all, it is now in for service and I hope the warranty will cover the problems.'

8gb Compact Flash - compactflash, cf card

This card is speedy enough for my tastes. Shooting w/ my Nikon D70s in burst mode: I can record 3fps (frames per second) in raw for the first four shots and average 1.5 sec between shots thereafter (by comparison, my extreme IV 2 GB card gets 5 shots off at 3fps and averages 1.0 sec between additional shots). If I shoot with the transcend card in the maximum jpeg setting the results are even better: 3fps for the first 11 shots and 0.9 sec between shots thereafter.

I was able to read 786mb off the card in 48sec (51sec with extreme IV) using my sandisk extreme usb reader. Writing 786mb to the card from my computer (which I never do) was, however, slow: 105sec compared to 57sec with extreme IV. Transcend 8 GB 133x CompactFlash Memory Card TS8GCF133

First, I am not an expert on compact flash cards. However, I use them in my photogrpahic equipment, such as a Nikon D300. I normally use the SanDisk Extreme III CF. I am concerned with two time measurements. The first is how long the CF card takes to record the image after I press the shutter release. The second is how long it takes to download the contents of my CF card to my computer using a card reader.

I bought the Transcend because the record times appear to be very similar to the SanDisk, and I thought I could save some money. The Trascend was less than half of the price.

The Transcend has great recording times. No complaints there. But to download data from the Transcend to my computer using a card reader takes about 8 - 10 x as long as the SanDisk. I don't know why, nor do I really care.

If money is the driving factor in your purchase, and you don't care about download times, then buy the Transcend. If time is money or if you can't wait 45 - 60 minutes to download 4 GB of data from the disk to your computer via a card reader, buy the SanDisk.

I use this compact flash card with the Canon 20D. I picked this particular brand because of its price. It's frustrating to pay top dollar for new technology only to have something faster and large storage capacity come out at a cheaper price is a relatively short time.

The Transcend 4GB card didn't disappoint. I tried it just a few days after receiving it at a track and field event at the local high school. The amount of photos this card will hold will depend upon your camera settings and on the ISO level you set your camera to. (The lower the ISO or light sensitivity setting the smaller the file size.)

The card performed well and one must remember that card speed is only half of the equation. Your camera's internal buffer also plays a role. I had been using an 80x speed card and this particular card I'm reviewing is a 133x speed. I didn't notice that much of a difference in terms of writing time to my card while using the shutter and I think I was faced with a buffer issue. I was taking continous shots of hurdle jumpers and long jumpers and taking as many photos per second as the camera could handle. It was nice having a large card to handle all the photos and not have to worrying about swapping cards.

I think this card is a terrific deal and I think I will get another!

This card is not 133x (Class 20). It is Class 4 at best. Now I see how they can sell it so cheap.

I suspected something was wrong at first when I was recording paltry 640x480 video on my Canon 5D.. This is a 2MB/s task.. I got the little 'buffer filling' warning on the right hand side of the display, indicating the card was not keeping up with the bit stream! What the heck!? This is ridiculous for x480. A good rule of thumb for compressed video is 2Mb/s for 480P, 4Mb/s for 720P, 8Mb/s for 1080P. Find those numbers any number of places. 133x should give me 20MB/s+

So, sick that I had just wasted my money, I plugged the CF to my PC and ran CrystalDiskMark with a 50MB file size, representative of a RAW+JPEG write. To my shock and horror, the card is a CLASS 4! (26x). Ran it again simulating a video stream, same result. Now I understood why the card could not keep up with my Canon DSLR.

I posted the picture proof in the 'customer images' go check it out. If you have an older camera or only need x480 this card would work; but will you patronize a company that lies to you?

Unfortunately, shipping is more than the cost of the card; I'll keep this as an emergency backup for when I forget my quality card.

This card surprised me. I expected it to be considerably slower than my Sandisk Ultra II cards. But once I got a high speed card reader that let me access the full performance of the cards I found that it's actually considerably faster for reading, and only fractionally slower for writing.

I get between 5-7 megabytes per second in my write speed tests, which is roughly on par with what I get from my Ultra II cards. But in read performance I got speeds of almost 30 megabytes a second. Compared to around 10 for the Ultra II.

I should specify that this was with a UDMA capable card reader, the Lexar Pro UDMA reader, among the fastest USB 2.0 card readers out there. Performance on gear that isn't UDMA compatible may be different.

There certainly are faster cards out there, if you're willing to pay for them. For comparison, a fast enough camera can achieve three times the write speed of this card with a card that costs around $85 for an 8 gigabyte model. But you need to ask yourself if you both need that kind of speed and have gear capable of utilizing it.

If you're not in the habit of routinely filling the buffer of your camera, if you don't find yourself constantly having to wait for your camera to write enough data to the card for you to be able to take just one more picture, and you're not currently using high end, high speed cards, this is a card to consider.

Four stars out of consideration for the price/performance and capacity ratio. It's not the fastest card out there, but for the price it offers performance and capacity that's hard to beat. - Compactflash - 8gb - Cf Card - 133x'

Mens Health - strength, mens health

We bought "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Weight Training" shortly after getting a Marcy Classic Standard Bench with Arm Curl and Best Fitness BFMG20 Sportsmans Gym to make sure my son and I knew how to do the exercises properly. This is great starting point and will likely save newcomers to the "sport" from a lot of wasted effort or dangerous practices. Here are my observations:

Pros -

+ Authoritative Advice; the authors are actual athletes (a female powerlifter, a male Kayaker, and a male cyclist)

+ Safety Focused; everything is presents with a "safety first" mind set

+ Inclusive; has information on free weights, machines, and cardio

+ Easy to Follow Format; starts with the basics and progress to more advanced concepts (really needs to be read start to finish)

Cons -

- Pictures; while there are a good amount of pictures, they vary in usefulness

Misc -

* Humor; the authors included a lot of humor and idle banter that I enjoyed, but more serious reads might find it distracting

I strongly recommend reading this book all the way through as it really doesn't get into the actual lifting until Chapter 6 and it might be tempting to avoid the sections on nutrition, gym selection, and stretching, but there is a lot off really good information to be found in those earlier chapters.

The sections on debunking myths are very helpful as well, especially with the "weight vs reps" debate that is common among gym lifters.

Highly Recommended!

This book provides fantastic easy to use information for the beginning weight-lifter. If you are more advanced, you may already know the information in this book--though it sheds light on faulty techniques commonly seen in the gym.

"The Complete Idiot's Guide to Weight Training Illustrated, 3rd Edition," offers a comprehensive and quick introduction to weight training for the beginner or intermediate. There are 21 chapters. All the chapters are short, usually being a quick read, with photos and diagrams of the body. Here's a sampling of what's covered in some of the 21 chapters.Chapter 2 Food and supplements

Chapter 4 Stretches

Chapter 5 Technique and form safety

Chapter 6 Physiology and reps

Chapter 7 Legs

Chapter 8 Back

Chapter 9 Chest

Chapter 10 Shoulders

Chapter 11 Arms

Chapter 12 Abdominals

Chapter 13 Programs

Chapter 14 Form safety

Chapter 15 Techniques including superslow, plyometrics, negatives, and spotting

Chapter 16 Programs

This book is more than meet's the eye. It has muscle diagrams for each exercise in the book so you can see exactly which muscle you're targeting. For instance, some exercises only target the middle deltoids, while others work on the rear or front.

Also, this book takes a more scientific approach to weight lifting instead of just repeating common sense and personal intuition of some olympic weight lifter. For example, it says that contrary to popular belief, multiple scientific studies have shown that just doing one set of an exercise is just as effective as wasting hours at the gym doing 5 or 10 sets like some guys do. Doing 1 set is MUCH more efficient than doing 5 or 10. Especially for beginners.
