Exercise - exercise, fitness

This isn't specifically for the Gymboss interval timer and has nothing to secure the timer to the armband. It's just an armband; you have to clip the Gymboss onto it (after purchasing this, I just clipped my Gymboss onto an iPod armband I was already wearing, and it works just as well). Gymboss ARMBAND

The Armband is elastic with velcro. All you have to do is simply wrap it around your arm, forearm, etc. close it with the velcro, and clip on the Gymboss with its belt clip which is really sturdy. I see this armband lasting for a while, well worth the 3 bucks

This armband is advertised w/ the GYMBOSS interval timer, HOWEVER, it's not really for it... at least I don't think so. There isn't really a way for it to "fit" and then ware it around your wrist... IDK... a little confusing. I have to wind the band around my wrist (which ends up being around like 3-4 times) and then clip the GYMBOSS onto it. I think an iPOD holder would work just fine or just clip the timer onto your pants.

Not much to say except that it does what it is supposed to do. I put on my forearm during my workouts and it is tight enough to stay in place and not interfere with my arm movement. It would be difficult to use the timer without this band, so I'm glad it works.

I purchased the Gymboss in hot pink. Loved the color. The one purchased didn't work properly. The seller sent me a replacement, and I returned the defective one. It takes time to get used to using it as programming is a little tricky for a new user.I had to visit the Gymboss Youtube instructional video to get it right. So far so good. - Interval - Fitness - Interval Timer - Exercise'

I bought this to replace my 2-year-old TomTom XL 340S, mainly because I wanted lifetime map updates which were not available when I bought my XL. I hooked both units up in my car and drove around for an hour to compare them. A couple obvious differences are that the VIA units are slightly thinner and lighter than the XL series, and the VIAs have a slightly better screen, although honestly I could barely tell the difference. Diagonal lines are a little less jaggy on the VIA if you look closely, but the increased resolution does not make much difference. The font size is slightly different as well. The font for the current street is a little larger on the VIA, but the font for the next street to turn onto is slightly smaller, which you can see in the screen image on this site. The street name is green and white and meant to look like a highway sign. The fonts were perfectly fine on my XL, and they are fine on the VIA as well. One thing that they changed, and I think this is new for the VIA line, is that when you are approaching your destination it will tell you if it's on the right or the left. With previous generation TomToms you could see which side of the street your destination was on by looking at the screen, but it didn't announce it audibly. It's a slight improvement, but not a big deal in my opinion.

As far as navigation, the two units were pretty similar when giving directions. I noticed that in some places the Lane Guidance screen would kick in on the XL while it did not on the VIA. I think they have tweaked the software a little after realizing that there were times when Lane Guidance was coming on when it wasn't really needed. Also, I noticed at one exit that the XL said to exit and "go straight on," (although the screen showed a left turn with an arrow) when in fact it should have said exit and turn left. The XL got it wrong, the VIA got it right. Again, that was probably just the result of improvements that have been made to the software in the last two years. Also, the XL would say "take the exit toward Erie, PA" (spoken as "pa" as in "papa"), whereas the VIA just said take the exit toward Erie, and didn't mention the state. It's kind of pointless to say the state in that instance, so just saying a city and leaving it at that is fine.

And now for the best feature. The reason I would not consider any other brand of PND right now is because TomTom is the only brand with the excellent EasyPort Mount. I only use my PND when I travel by air and then rent a vehicle. In my opinion, having the mount built-in to the unit is great. It is much easier to pack and carry than it would otherwise be with a mount that is a separate piece of hardware. I've had no problems with the EasyPort Mounts on both of my TomToms. They work great!

I didn't want the traffic or Bluetooth options, so I went with the "M" instead of the "TM" and the 1405 instead of the 1435.

Overall this is a great PND. I highly recommend it to anyone who takes along a PND for use in rental cars. The EasyPort Mount is excellent and makes for a compact and easy to transport device, and TomTom is the only company that offers it. TomTom VIA 1405 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

I just bought this a few weeks ago and sent it back within 3 days. Why?

1. Lifetime maps code was invalid at the TOMTOM WEB SITE. I called customer support and they wanted me to scan and send the UPC, The original packing slip, and the plakard with the original activation code before they would do anything. Woa, stop! This was a BRAND NEW PURCHASE with a bad code in THEIR database. I expect a solution and service, not suspicion and hoops to jump through. Customer Service gets 1 star because I don't want anyone to think I skipped it.

2. Nothing in the POI db. I tried it a few times as is and it didn't even find simple things like older restaurants.

3. Wouldn't find satellites until I plotted a route. I wanted to know where I was 1st, kinda handy to have that info when out of town.

4. The VIA won't synch to the full client on the desktop. This acts more like a rushed to production BETA.

AVOID! Get the Garmin instead. not enough letters in the word "sucked" to properly emphasize the suckiness of this product.

I recently purchased the TomTom Via 1405, 4.3 inch GPS unit as an upgrade to a 2007 vintage TomTom One, Third Edition. I was planning an extensive road trip through Canada and wanted something a bit newer, faster and bigger. I also wanted the "lifetime map updates" which are a popular, inexpensive addition at the time of purchase now-a-days. The purchase through Amazon was a piece of cake - as usual.

Some impressions - the unit is light, well put together and starts up fast. However, I noticed right away that even with the screen brightness turned all the way up, this unit is noticeably dimmer than the old TomTom One. On the dash, in the right lighting, it is very difficult to see. I never had that problem with the old unit. Second - the power plug has changed from the widely available, familiar "Mini-USB" to the less available "Micro-USB". Also, the port is in a recessed hole, making some aftermarket charge cables difficult if not impossible to use. The included non-coiled Micro USB power cord is quite long. My dash mount is about 15 inches from my cigarette lighter plug so I have about 3 feet of extra cable to deal with. I have tried two different coiled, shorter Micro USB 12v power cables but neither have worked properly with the unit. One I had to shave down quite a bit to get a proper fit but it still would not work right. On the old TomTom One, you could use just about any Mini USB cable to power it.

Another annoyance is that the unit, when mounted on the dash (not hanging from the window) causes the "L" ended stock cable to point up in the air before making a 180 degree turn to drop down to the cigarette plug.

The new mount is totally built into the back of the unit. My experience is that the rubber suction cup gives up it's grip long before the unit quits working. I am making it a point to un-stick the mount every time I park the car for more than a few minutes. It does not look like this suction cup will be easy to replace. The mount itself seem to hold well on a clean surface although it does not place the unit very far from the windshield. Any radical angle causes the side of the frame to touch the glass.

The Via units also use a new software interface to connect with TomTom for updates, etc. I do not like it compared to the older TomTom Home software. The new interface is a connection to a web page. It does not allow for remote operation of the unit, like the old TomTom Home did and it is confusing to install updates, initialize your map subscriptions, etc. It took me several tries to get my lifetime map subscription up and running and it felt like I happened on the solution by accident. Thinking back, I can't remember what I did to get it to happen but after several attempts, it just worked all of a sudden.

For those who are familiar with the older TomTom units, the new interface is nice. It now shows street and POI's in proper style - no more all lower case names, etc. The map routing is quick and easy to understand. A frequent route I take is now listed correctly the first try in lieu of the custom routing I used to have to invoke to get it to work on the One series. The POI database is up to date for the most part and quick & easy to operate. Complicated interchanges are now displayed in a clear, temporary display which give very precise lane guidance, etc.

All in all - I still like the TomTom units. I was quite surprised at some of the steps backward I feel the new units have taken however. I think TomTom has to work on the software interface and would like to see the Via units incorporated into the older TomTom Home stand alone software package...'

Dvd Storage Case - dvd case, dvd holders

The product is what you pay for. The cases are functionable. They are very bendable and break easily. When I recieved them, they came in a very nice box. When I unpacked the box and took the cases out there were several of them that were cracked and had pieces broken off. The plastic covering on the outside of the case to put your cover under, are thin and dent/rip easily. I can't complain for the price though. They are a good deal! Vact 7mm Slim DVD Cases 100-pack

I just received my first order for these slim DVD cases and I'm very pleased with them. I bought similar cases from Sam's Club in the past but they do not carry them anymore. Anyway these cases are even better than the ones from Sam's Club. They close easier and the middle tabs are so much better. I have over 3,000 DVDs in my collection so I know about DVD cases and these are worth the money. I've switched from the regular DVD cases to these slim ones so I can put more DVDs on my shelves. I will order another couple of hundred of them soon.

these look and function just like verbatium dvd cases, but there the comparison ends, unfortunately these cases are made with a much thinner and more brittle plastic. they will split at the folds on the first opening and will break apart where they snap together again at the first use. i dare say they won't live up to a lifetime of wear. so far i have had 3 break even before they came near a dvd and had to be thrown away.

I produce approx. 200 dvds a week. I buy inexpensive cases all the time...but these take the cake! I have bought better from the dollar store(4 for $1). About every fourth case I "try" to open breaks. HUGE waste of money, there are cheaper cases out there that are much better quality. I really hope that the ones that did not break for me won't break for my customer.

I agree that these are fragile, but if you handle them carefully while inserting the sleeve they work okay. I did not realize they were so fragile But they are a great buy for the money. So when I hurriedly try to sleeve one I broke outside plastic and after that I just handled them more carefully and it hasn't happened since. When you burn hundreds of dvds like I to this is the most practical solution.

They are thin.. that's for sure.. I wanted to shrink the size of my collection, and with these being about 1/2 the size of a normal case.. I can fit twice as much.. right? They are thin.. and I found if you try to open the case from the center, you can easily tear the plastic. If you take a little extra time and finese opening the cases from the edges, I can see them lasting a long time.

I have used this product for years from multiple suppliers. They are constructed pretty cheap, but are good enough for what I need. You always seem to get a few broken ones in the box (especially if UPS decides to throw them), but for the price it's worth it.

How can "molded rubber" DVD cases break as opposed to the standard plastic Jewel case? What more can be asked than having in my possession these lovely nearly unbreakable, quality presentation cases which are provided with room enough inside to house a pamphlet, and CD/DVD, while at the same time enabling me to promote my work outside (case exterior) with sufficient space enough available to easily designing my front and back labels all in one swoop? Two labels are easily constructed from only a single sheet of ordinary printed copy (Memorex Disc/Case label maker), and then inserting this single sheet (& two labels) into the case. Voila! No cutting, now two labels. I'm finding these Vact (7mm) superior cases, 100-pack, fit the bill not only in their cost efficiency & durability alone but in saving me time (on my other labeling projects) and money (cost to replacing the broken Jewel cases that I broke) as well. - Dvd Holders - Dvd Storage - Media Storage - Dvd Case'

Exercise Bike - home fitness, affordable

This elliptical trainer was another surprise for us (when you compare with other people's experiences). When we ordered it we were told it will take 4 to 6 weeks to arrive. The surprise: one week, good packaging again, nothing missing inside, no problem putting it together.

It works the way was meant to work. Good for average exercisers and has a seat to be used as a bicycle. Listed on Amazon for a max of 220 lbs weight for a person, but the manual lists it for 250 lbs max, which is good for me. It is a good construction, no noise, no wobbling. Body Champ BRM3671 Cardio Dual Trainer

We bought the Body Champ "Cardio Dual Trainer" for use in our cramped basement and it works nicely for our needs, with the following observations:

Setup -

+ Took my son and I about 1.5 hours to build it from unpacking to plugging it in

+ All parts were included and clearly labeled

+ Although the instructions look daunting, they really were easy to follow

+ Included all of the tools required (screw driver and wrenches), but using a rubber mallet (on Step #3) and adjustable wrench sped the process along

Pros -

+ Versatile; use as a standing elliptical or sitting cycle

+ Effective; provides a good workout in both modes

+ Electronics; monitors heart rate, adjusts intensity, and provides "programed" workout

+ Small Size; takes up about as much space as a traditional stationary bike

+ Affordable; this is a fairly inexpensive choice for a good quality machine

Cons -

- Stride Length; I am 5' 10" and find the stride length a little shorter than would normally be natural

- Sturdiness; At 230lbs, I am on the larger side for this machine and find it does wobble a bit at higher intensities

Misc -

* My 5' 11" son has very long legs (34") and finds that the cycle mode is slightly uncomfortable to him, but is fine for me (30" legs)

This machine was a good choice for us since it has so many important features at a price that was somewhat lower than we expected to pay when first starting to shop for this type of equipment.

Recommended!

CFH

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this exercise machine since it only cost $265. It is super sturdy and very well made. Its weight is pretty heavy and is equivalant to any exercise machine you would use at a professional gym. Having the dual trainer as a bike and a stepper/walker takes up half the space of 2 separate machines. I highly recommend it!

This Body Champ BRM3671 Is perfect for workouts. Its very sturdy, quiet, assembly was simple and had great instructions. The size of this unit does not take up too much room and gives a great workout as a bike or stand-up run. Can't beat it for the price.

I bought this on an impulse buy since my girlfriend wanted to purchase an elliptical trainer and this had the best reviews for its price range, so it was the natural choice.

- Building time/difficulty: It took me approximately 1.5 hours to built with no help and it was very easy. All the pieces were in the box and instructions were fairly clear.

- Use: The machine is very easy to use. I've used it both as an elliptical trainer and an exercise bike and have no complaints. I actually didn't read the instructions on how to use it after I built it and had no problem figuring out how to set a program, find the calories burnt, etc.

- Cost: The cost of this machine is amazing for what you get. Everyone that has seen it complimented how good it looked for the price we paid for it.

- Quality: The machine is VERY sturdy, almost similar to an actual machine you would use in a gym. Some of the pieces are plastic but it's a very strong plastic.

With all that said I'm glad we purchased it. I actually put some Velcro below the screen part so I can attach my iPad whenever I'm working out and watch movies, listen to music, etc. I do not want to take any liability if you do this and your electronic device falls, I'm just saying that I did it and it's pretty fun (although not the safest thing to do).

Although my husband and I put this trainer together just yesterday, and I've only used it twice now, he used it only once, it is awesome! The directions were easy, but you MUST READ them, not just look at the diagrams, trust me!! Also, we were very pleasantly surprised to discover that all the nuts, bolts and screwdrivers were very secure in nice, organized labeled "kits" to better assist you! About 20 min. assembly.

It took me at least a full month of searching to find a machine small enough for my home (we are fulltime RVers), and one that is under $500. This is that dream realized!

The machine is easy to use, with the computer supplying the resistance. So far I am only using the first minimal resistance because I found that even the first pre-programmed mode was tough for me!! That makes this machine even better!

Using both the elliptical part as well as the bicycle part in conjunction with each other, I am getting a really good workout, but comfortable. After a few minutes of elliptical walking, I have to sit, so that's where the bicycle comes in play and I don't have to stop working out to rest. I simply bicycle for a few minutes and stand up for the elliptical!! Easy.

It is a great quality machine for the price, I do think it will last for the duration in which I require it, and I am so pleased I'm pink. Well, I'm off to try to work out some more on this wonderful piece of equipment. Hurry and get one for yourself and get moving!

This is a fantastic elliptical. It was packaged very well and all of the labels and numbers helped with the assembly. I am very impressed with the quality of this machine and I like the LCD screen. I have recommended it to others. I give this a 5 star review. No problems with this unit and it sure beats the machine that I purchased from Gold Gym Walmart. I like the size of the machine too. It's also not noisy. - Exercise Bike - Home Fitness - Affordable - Elliptical'

Wall Plate - gang recessed plate, wall plate

This cable feed looks great. I put one behind my wall mounted TV and one closer to the floor by the components. Very easy to install and use. The only thing I didn't think about was I was using it on an exterior wall, so the opening allows cold air to enter the house. I solved this by taking a wad of attic insulation and shoving it into each opening. Problem solved. DataComm 45-0001-BK 1-Gang Recessed Low Voltage Cable Plate (Black)

This is made of good quality plastic. The hole is big enough to pass through most connectors. It's been a while since I ran the HDMI to DVI cable through it, but I believe the DVI side did not fit through (so I just ran the HDMI side through).

I originally bought 2 of these about a year ago to run cables in my bedroom, and now I am buying them again to run cables in my family room.

i wish i could rate this item with five stars, but we did not receive it. ups has delivery information and we contacted smarthome about this but have not heard back. our first order with smarthome went fine, but this lack of customer service has me concerned about ordering from them in the future. - Gang Recessed Plate - Wall Plate'

Inkjet Printer Ink - hp 564xl, inkjet cartridges

I loved my HP Photosmart D7360 Printer which used the 02 ink cartridges. The colors were clear and bright and the 02 individual ink cartridges ($9.99) lasted longer than the tri-color cartridges. I would only replace the ink that was low.

My new HP photosmart D7560 uses the 564 ink cartridges which were the same price as the 02, however the 564($9.99) ink cartridges don't last as long. To print the same amount of pictures as the 02 cartridges I have to purchase the 564XL ($18.99) cartridges which are 2x the cost!

I was very disappointed that with the newer models the standard ink cartridges now have less ink and the color is not as vivid. HP printers have always performed well for me the the cost and volume of the 564 have been a disappointment! HP 564 Ink Cartridges, Combo Pack in Retail Packaging

There seems to be several misunderstandings about ink replacements.

1. OEM from the manufacturer

2. Remanufactured from a ink distributor

The inks are basically the same, where do you think the OEM company gets the ink? In order to charge more to cover overhead and profits the OEM companies develop things like chips to "read' the ink. When you buy a remanufactured ink product they will not have the chip and "CAN" read empty misleading people into thinking the cartridges are partially empty and they got a bad deal. In reality they just dont have the chip so the computer misreads the info. It is simple to go into the printer software and turn off the chip reading service and everything will work fine except the ink level readings. They arent really accurate anyway. If getting an inaccurate reading of how much ink you have left is that important to you then you will need to buy the expensive OEM ink for that feature. If you want the same ink just a lot cheaper, remanfactured is a much more economical choice. Be sure to check out the company selling the remanufactured cartridges as with all companies selling anything on the internet, some are good and some are bad. The OEM companies have strict guidelines and only buy from the good companies. You need to research and do the same if you decide to buy remanufactured. The cheapest option normally isnt the best, It's the chepest for a reason. There are several reputable companies here in the USA and regulations are more stringent. I would look for that 1st.

Also keep in mind all black inks from either are not the same, some are for Photo and some are for printing. An example is the HP Black XL 800 pages and the HP Black XL photo 290 pages. It is confusing if one dosn't read the box for the intended use. The photo cartridge actually has a greyish color and is for photo usage only and is not interchanable with the Black XL.

If you are in any way handy, several people find buying refill kits easy and the most economical way to significantly reduce printing cost.

Ink is ink for the most part. When it cost more to buy ink than it did to buy the printer you have to ask yourself how the OEM companies "really" make their profits. Especially, when they dont manufacture the cartridges or the ink they put their name on. They purchase BOTH from the companies that ARE selling them to you as remanufactured at a discount for obvious reasons. Are the OEM cartridges and ink really better just because they stuck a label with their name on it and charge us a 300% mark up for a chip?

You will have to decide, but be educated and know your options before you spend.

I purchased a set of five replacement cartridges recently (not really a set, I had to get them from a few different Amazon sellers) because my printer was new (Photosmart Premium, which I LOVE) and I figured that the cartridges which came with it would not last long. Actually, I did a LOT of printing with them. However, when replacement time came, I took out the black xl (not the photo black), twisted the "arm" off of it (I HATE this system they use to get open their cartridges for placement in the printer) and ARRRRGGGGG...the entire "cap" thing came off, spilling black ink everywhere. RUINED my yellow LL Bean shirt, ink in my keyboard, ink on my synthesizer (Kork workstation which sits beside my computer table)...it was a dreadful mess, and three days later, my fingers are still stained.

Anyway, I called HP tech support, who referred me to the design department (which is, I hear, working on a DIFFERENT design because of this problem.) They have overnighted me a replacement cartridge! For free, of course. So even though the design of these cartridges stinks, HP service has always come through for me.

Do not purchase these replacement ink cartridges. We purchased a HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One Printer from Amazon, which we are satisfied with, but these replacement cartridges will not last. You need to order the XL type, it seems to be worth the extra $$, the XL cartridges actually do last longer. - Hp Photosmart - Hp 564xl - All In One Printer - Inkjet Cartridges'

Lens Accessories

you get what you pay for. The first two days the sticky foam kept detaching from the lens. On the third day the elastic snapped off of the band rendering it utterly useless. I would not recommend this product. Zeikos ZE-LCH1 Lens Cap Keeper

Purchased two of these and the first one fell apart just putting it on the lens. Was trying to figure out the best place to position the strap when the elastic just unravelled! Had to be extra careful attaching the second one. Tried it once and so far so good but should have bought a better one in the first place. Don't buy this junk

The adhesive on the cap holder didn't last long. The product broke within a week. It is very cheaply made. I do not recommend this product. It is especially ineffective for longer lenses. The tension on the elastic was too much when used with a telephoto lens. It was constantly coming off.

Bought this lens cap keeper less than four months ago, it has fallen apart.

The adhesive no longer sticks, the string has broken.

The lens keeper I have for my old Nikormat has lasted 30 years, they just don't make them like they use too.

I would not recommend this product at any price.

I bought this for my canon 70 200 2.8 lens. I was ordering the canon shutter release and was falling short by 2 bucks to be eligible free shipping so added this product to the cart :) ..

I like the elastic ribbon design which helps you practically use this with any lens of any size. The down side being the riveting done to the couple the elastic with the thread that holds you lens cap is made out of crude sharp metal. It has left scratches on hood when placed in storage position. I am sure it wouldnt spare other items in your camera bag. I had to wrap the metal with tape to avoid it from tampering its neighbors once in the camera bag.

Its a cool product. but for the issue mentioned above

Others have had problems but mine works like a charm...this product has saved me so much time....before i would have to remove the cap then find a place to put it: like my pocket, my shirt pocket, my jacket pocket, or just leaved it in my hand....and ever since i bought this i just remove the cap and LET IT HANG...love it....'

Safety Can Opener - zyliss, ergonomic

I have several products made by Zyliss and have found them to be excellent quality, but this Zyliss Safe Edge can opener is a great disappointment for both ease of use and safety. I have found cans vary in ease of opening, but some cans are very difficult to open with this. After going around three or four times, the lids still did not pry off, but I had to bend them to get the product out. A greater concern is that it leaves small filings of metal on the lid that fall into the pan when the contents of the can is poured out.

I really like the edge type openers and will try to find another.

As others have mentioned, this can opener requires an extra step to get the lid off after it is opened. I found that to be a pain.

After 2 months of use, it has stopped opening cans for no apparent reason. I am thinking the blade has worn out already. This opened is going back.

I will never go back to a traditional can opener. Instead of sharp edges and the chance that a dirty lid can fall into the can, this takes off the lid in one smooth piece. The first time you try it, you will not be sure if you actually opened the can because of where it cuts the can. This is safe for kids to use. I used to only use electric can openers, but hated the sharp edges. You can open your can just as quickly with this and tuck it away in a drawer. It seems that we have so many appliances on our countertops already, so no need to have a can opener there as well. I highly recommend this product. I am surprised it is not more mainstream by now!

As others have mentioned, this Zyliss can opener works in a completely different way than the traditional ones. If it bothers you to have to figure out and change how you do things, as is my wife, you don't want this. However, if you're interested in design and looking for a better opener, this is a great choice. I'll repeat what others have said but with a little different wording and description. I would say that the mechanism pries the entire lid off in the reverse of how it was put on. You lift the lid off intact, separated from the body of the can. The opener doesn't touch the food and there are no sharp edges. While it is dishwasher safe, this opener stays clean. Traditional openers cut through part of the can's top, leaving the lid's edge in place, whereas the Zyliss just takes off the whole lid.

Design and build are excellent: nice weight, good grips and easy to turn. I can't imagine that there is anything to wear out for many years.

I like edge can openers. This one functions well, but I had one previously that functioned better. The only drawback to this opener is that after you cut open the lid, you have to unlock the blade and relock the tip of the can opener on the lid in order to take the lid off. The previous can opener I had would take the lid off in the locked position after the lid was completely cut.

This is a good-looking opener. It feels nice in the hand. The handle is easy to turn. The whole thing locks and has a nice magnetic lid grabber, so you don't have to push your dirty lid into your clean food.

Unfortunately, like others have reported, after going around the lid, it fails to ultimately sever the lid from the can. It does this consistently. I have not had a single lid come clean with this opener. Thus the nifty lid grabber is worthless.

I'm sending it back.

The mechanism to close the opener on a lid is a little strange, and you have to get it just so, but even that process only takes a split second once you work out what to do the first time.

Ultimately, the thing opens cans like it claims to, and does it with a minimum of effort. We have left-handed and right-handed people, big and small, strong and weak, young and old using this can opener, and no one struggles after the first time.

Locking this can opener onto the top of a can might take a little getting used to the first time you do it. After that, you just turn the handle until you are done. I imagine you might need to use it to lift the lid on rare occasions, but it won't usually be necessary.

The blade wheel, which is the black and stainless steel wheel, is set back about 2mm from the sides of the recess for the can, and it also slants to one side. So if the can gets big enough, you will reach a point where there's not enough curve to allow it to fit. The breaking point is a bit smaller than the size of cans you get in warehouse stores or see in restaurant kitchens.

On a typical sized can, this opener is easy to use, does a great job, and leaves a clean cut. But the first time I tried this opener, I had to use considerable force and eventually gave up. I then noticed that the edge of the can rubbed through the opener on one side, and the force was needed because the can was jammed against the opener. DON'T USE THIS ON LARGE CANS!

I'd recommend this for left handed users, even though the blade tilt makes the can opener technically right handed. But you can turn the top handle clockwise with your left hand if you want to. If you turn it the other way, it will slip off. Clockwise is not truly "backwards" as it is with a pseudo left handed cheese grater, or other similar item with a handle on the side.

The bottom line is that aside from the cosmetic damage caused by using this on a big can, I still have a good opener. - Kitchen Gadgets - Zyliss - Ergonomic - Safety Can Opener - Kitchen - Manual Can Opener'

American Girl has always been one of my favorite magazines. I started subscribing when I was about seven, and I'm still getting it now, at age 13, in addition to the typical "teen magazines." This magazine has great craft and party ideas, and stories about real girls who've had different kinds of interesting experiences. From reading some of the Amazon reviews, I've gotten the idea that some girls are upset by the fact that American Girl publishes hardly any stories about boys, puberty, and makeup, and they have too many articles on crafts and parties. However, I think the fun craft and party ideas are part of what makes American Girl a great magazine. Although pre-teen life doesn't revolve around back-to-school themed sleepovers and Christmas ornament crafts, a girl doesn't need to shut crafts and parties out of her life the day she turns twelve. If you're looking for a magazine with advice on how to put on lip liner and deal with your crush, this may not be the magazine for you. But I think there are plenty of magazines with advice about makeup and boys, and American Girl is a great magazine, even if it doesn't talk much about those topics. I think many girls will enjoy this magazine, especially those between the ages of 8 and 12 (although there are eleven-year-olds who feel to old for the magazine, and fourteen-year-olds who still read it faithfully). American Girl

American Girl magazine is geared to girls aged 7-13. Much younger than that and many girls aren't reading at the appropriate level yet. Much older and they may be ready to move on. But honestly I'm surprised to read so many reviews by 10 or 11 year old girls who feel they're too old for this magazine. I don't believe girls that age NEED magazines based solely on makeup tricks, flirting with boys, etc. AG has articles such as dealing with relationships with friends. Like when you and your best friend start to grow apart. Or when she moves away. Articles like one about a girl whose family travels around the world on their sailboat for two years. Crafts that you can actually be proud to give at the age of 10.

Several reviewer have complained that the magazine is short and expensive. It is. But here's why: there is NO advertising (short of anything American Girl related). In many magazines, advertising accounts for easily half the pages. And advertising enables publishers to sell magazines for a low cost. AG has no advertising and so has to charge a fair price to produce it. I'm more than willing to pay for that kind of publication.

Parents ordering for your daughters, you know your girl. If you've got a 10 year old going on 16, this may not be for your child. If you have a precocious 6 year old, she might like it as well. AG is the kind of magazine I'm glad my daughters enjoy.

I am a sixteen-year-old former reader of American Girl who looked forward to it every month during elementary school. This magazine (as well as the entire company's products) encourages learning, thinking, creativity, independence, appreciation of the past, love of diversity, and self-expression. Finally in a world where half the women are encouraged to just be sex toys and the other half are taught that they should be obedient, unambitious, lower-class citizens and somehow enjoy their subhumanity, there is a voice telling girls to dream big, play hard, and explore themselves and their world. Educational, entertaining, and inspiring.

I ordered this magazine for my daughter for her eighth birthday, and she loves it! She is approaching her 11th birthday and she still loves this magazine. There is something in it for girls from every background. This magazine gets my highest possible recommendation.

READ THIS! READ THIS! ..American Girl magazine is good for girls who are about 8 to 10. But older kids 10 and up should read something else like New Moon or Girls Life. The reason for this: when kids are younger they really like American Girl, because it is filled with fun party ideas and crafts, which is what they are interested in. but when girls get older, (take it from me, I am 12) they want something a little more mature that has more things they can relate to. I mean, here's your average girl, who is changing and become older and probably scared. She is afraid to talk to other people about it, but is curious. she is starting to experiment with make-up and wants to feel grown-up, but all she can get is "how to make a christmas craft"!?! When I felt this way i started reading GL, which talked about girls that are facing the same issues as me. It made me feel a lot stronger and secure about myself because I knew that I was the not the only one out there who was curious about life. Beleive me, try another magazine if you are above 10!!! If you are below 10, AG is the mag 4 u!!!

I'm a magazine major in college, and I'm studying AG this semester. I actually wanted to thank you all for your great comments on Amazon- beleive it or not, they're really helpful for my research paper!

I was a huge fan of AG as a young girl, and honstly, even at 18 I'm finding that more than just researching the magazine, I'm really enjoying reading it. This is, in my opinion, the only respectable magazine left for young girls. It will never ask you to grow up too quickly or to change who you are. It will never tell you there's a certain way to act around boys, or wear your hair, or paint your lips. It doesn't insult with dribble about scandals and celebrities. AG glorifies girls. It asks their input, and really cares about the feedback (yes, I found out from interviewing the founding editor that they actually file every piece of reader mail for future reference). I urge you to get this publication for your daughters. It is truly exceptional.

Even though I am 14, I still think American Girl is a wonderful magazine. This magazine has absolutley NO ads. However they do include little tear outs to renew or subscribe.

In this magazine, there is a spot for about 4 or 5 letters from readers. They also teach you a new word, called the "buzzword" and they hide it somewhere in the issue and you find it. AG includes true stories, awesome ideas, polls, Art Gallery, quizzes, crafts and more.

Also, in each issue, there is "Heart to Heart." Girls can express themselves. The topics range from most embarassing moments to the nicest thing a friend has ever done for them. In the back, "HELP!" is when girls send in questions, like about growing up, frendship problems, and more and AG answers them.

The average issue has about 48 pages. I would recommend this for girls ages 8-12 most, but girls of any age would enjoy it. - Kids Magazine - Childrens Magazines - Tween - Ages 7 - 12'

Digital Camera - camcorder, mp3

I love this MP3 player. The only difference between it and the Ipod touch are the Apps and about $150 in the price. This player works smoothly with both itunes and windows media, and is a snap to upload music to. One thing to note is that it holds it's charge much better if you charge it through the USB port on your computer tower, and not through the USB port on a cable box or other things. The sound is much better with a pair of quality earphones, like Skull Candy. Bought this in November on another site, and so far no issues. If your player doesn't work properly, I suggest returning it for a new one. Every product has it's bad apples. I highly recommend this player. Coby 8 GB 2.8-Inch Video MP3 Player with Touchscreen, FM, Stereo Speaker, MiniSD Card Slot and Camera (Black)

Weak touchscreen, feels really cheap... but then again it was.

Music plays fine, havnt had any lag or quality problems. Built in speaker works well, nothing special but about standard built-in speaker quality. Camera is better than I thought it would be. Overall its a decent product, works well for music and video, navigation does not flow as well as i would like but is still pretty intuitive. Good price for a touchscreen with a camera, but only get it if you dont mind the lack of quality.

Okay so this thing was good for a while, but I ended up returning it for the following reasons:

1. the touch screen doesn't work too well

2. the volume isn't controllable

3. the range for the radio isn't the best

4. it doesn't like to turn on very well and turns off randomly

5. I never could get the pics to work

I got this because I am in iraq and didnt want to buy an ipod and have it break out here. But mostly because Im cheap. I always figured why spend hundreds on an Ipod when I could get this for way less.

I have since bought an Ipod.

These are very cheap, very very cheap. Short battery life, I cant stand the menus, the camera is very fuzzy, and the speaker is barely worth using. Within 2 days of having it the screen cracked and it no longer responds to touch. I wasnt even doing anything that should or would have damaged it. just from having it with me.

Aside from the screen breaking, my biggest complaint is that there is no key lock feature... every time I have taken it from my pocket the damn thing is dead.

I say, save yourself the money and hassle... Just buy an Ipod, if your cheap like me, then get a used one...

you wont spend much more, but the difference in quality is enormous.

The Coby MP828 has a battery life of about 2 hours which is a joke for this class of product and this is just playing music. The touch screen is balky and hard to use, some times it works ok, other times it is very hard to get a command to input. I have a MP620 which works well and has decent battery life, it is half of the price of the MP828 ans is a much better product. COBY really droped the ball on this one.

good player if you dont mind lag

takes 640x480 video

as well as pictures

watch videos take videos

watch pictures take pictures

radio (suky)

overall would realy recomend if it didnt have a laggy screen

i say with the 50 dollers you buy another mp3 liek a sandisk ;)

the mp3 only worked for me because of the SD card port. when i plugged it into the computer it would charge, but wouldn't recognize it in the USB. When i tried to go farther in to find out why, my computer said that there was no driver. computer's are supposed to be able to make them as soon as they're plugged in. no matter what i downloaded from microsoft or the coby website, there was no driver, thus i couldn't upload music onto it. also, when i plug the mp3 in to charge, it messes up the thing it's plugged into. i have a digital clock, which is conveinent for charging the mp3, which has no wall charger. my clock turns on and off dozens of times, and now the time is wrong and it glitzes sometimes. i don't know if it's just me, but that mp3 player is nothing but trouble!!!

This is nice if you just want to listen to music. I like to be able to search for music on my mp3 player. This does not do it. Plus it won't accept my 16 gb SD card. It will accept a 2 or 4 gb card. Dont expect to download a lot of music to this mp3 player. Another thing, the touch screen is terrible. I have to press hard on the screen to have it work. I am in fear of breaking the screen for pressing so hard on it. Get an ipod or Zune, you will be much more pleased!

The best features about this mp3 player are that it has a camera and it holds 8gb of memory. The coby website stated the battery would last 25 hours but it only lasts 3 1/2 hours at the most. I listen to my mp3 all day, 3 hours doesn't do it for me. The worst thing is the sound quality does not have enough bass, my music just doesn't sound as good as it did with my previous mp3 player. Also the touch screen doesn't respond too well either. This is the last time I try to save money by buying something cheap. - Mp3 - Music Player - Mp4 - Camcorder'

Garmin Charger - nuvi, chargers

I received the first wall charger from United Integral and it was DOA. No LED indicator, no charge. The company was very quick to respond and sent me a second unit. This one lit up the LED when plugged in but the Nuvi 1450 began acting very strangely (it was about 2/3 charged). First it went into mass storage mode so I unplugged the charger then re-plugged it. It started to boot in Nav mode but then went back to mass storage mode. From that point on it seemed to alternately boot between the two modes about once a minute. I wanted a simple AC charger that I could use in NAV mode while charging (still learning how to program routes, etc) so already it was looking like this was not going to work for me. I left it hooked up for a couple of hours and then the low battery warning came up. Eventually the Nuvi was totally discharged, I guess, because when I disconnected the charger and tried to power up the Nuvi it no longer worked. I plugged it into the car charger overnight and it now seems to work OK. Two AC chargers are now on the way to the trash. Garmin Nuvi 1450 Standard Red LED Wall / AC / Home Charger!

Excellent value. Satisfying time delivery. Everything I have purchased through

Amazon has be great, pricewise, delivery. I will continue to purchase items as needed through you. Excellent communication with your customers. Thanks Much

Joe

I bought the wall charger because I bring my Garmin into the house each night. I thought it would be easier to have it charge at night for use the following day. Now I don't need to use the car charger unless the battery gets low during extended use.

Regardless of what you may think YOU DO NEED a wall charger. Not always are you going to have a pc where you are or even a car charger if you are a biker. So a wall charger is a real necessity and its surprising that Garmin doesnt include it in their basic pack. Plus this one is much cheaper than one after market bought from Garmin.

This charger does not work for the garmin NUVI 1450 LMT. It was cheap enough but you get what you pay for. Sometimes I think certain companies do this on purpose because the cost isn't worth the hassle of sending it back. Hence pure profit for them. Needless to say, don't waste your money.

wanted a spare charger to keep at home for my gps.

this one works fine and gives convenience at a low price.

i keep it plugged in at home to use there. the other chargers are packed in a bag with the gps for when i travel. no wondering to remember if i packed the chargers for travel or left it at home.

in a pinch, should the car charger fail while traveling, i can use the other a/c charger with my inverter to keep going until i can get a replacement.

the usb charger that came with the other set i bought is totally useless. i wish it had two a/c chargers instead. if i have a pc then i have a/c and would not need a usb charger.

but this one was cheap enough that paying for a useless usb cable from that other company is not that big a deal.

This does not charge your Garmin. It only provides power to the GPS. DO NOT buy this if you are expecting it to charge your battery in your GPS. My battery steadily lost power as it was plugged into this device. The seller was great though and refunded my money without me even asking and obviously mistakes can happen. Just make sure your device charges if that is what you are looking to buy. - Chargers - Garmin Charger - Nuvi'

Xenon Home Charger - wall charger, lg charger

We lost one of our LG chargers while on vacation - I think it was model STA-U12WR. I was hesitant about ordering this item when I read two recent reviews about it not working, but it was so cheap compared to the phone store. After two weeks of daily usage, it has worked perfectly, charging both my LG Cosmos and an older phone, the LG Chocolate 3. The Cosmos came supplied with a charger called the Travel Adapter STA-U12WD that could also be plugged into a USB port. This charger, model STA-U32WSI, can NOT go into a USB port - it can ONLY be plugged into an electrical outlet, but that's all I ever do anyways (note the name states "AC wall adapter"). OEM LG (Original) AC Wall Adapter Home Travel Charger Micro USB for AT&T LG Xenon GR500

The original charger that came with my phone, after a year, decided it no longer wanted to work. I was going on vacation & needed a charger & found this one on Amazon. It works great, I have had no problems with it at all, it came with the usb cord. You can't beat the price, had I gone to a phone dealer, I am sure they would have charged me way too much for the same item.

I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend, who'd lost her original charger, and she reports that the phone never seems to charge very well with this one: the phone always seems to be on "low battery" no matter how long it's connected. She never had that problem with her previous charger, so I don't think it's a problem with her phone (which is pretty new).

When my phone is plugged into the wall, it makes a screeching sound an it seems like it's going to explode or something like that. When I unplug my phone, the noise stops. Also, my phone gets really hot. It was not what I expected.... - Droid - Lg Charger - Wall Charger - Chargers'

Gangster Movies

Steven Schneider and a team of 30-odd film critics, writers, professors and film buffs examine famous gangster movies of the past 80 years in this 2009 release. Part of Barron's 'Movies You Must See Before You Die' series, it offers up a smorgasbord of classic and little-known crime flicks.

101 GANGSTER MOVIES presents a decade-by-decade survey of the genre. The first film covered is THE MUSKETEERS OF PIG ALLEY, made in 1912; the last, 2006'S EASTERN PROMISES. Though most of the usual suspects are included - PUBLIC ENEMY, HIGH SIERRA, GODFATHER 1 and 2; BULLITT, THIS GUN FOR HIRE, THE ROARING TWENTIES, GOODFELLAS, WHITE HEAT, etc. - surprisingly, DIRTY HARRY and MALTESE FALCON, among others, are nowhere to be found.

In any case, each film gets a two-page write-up with two b&w and/or color photographs. Though some of the entries give away the film's ending, I enjoyed GANGSTER MOVIES, moreso than the companion 101 WAR MOVIES volume. Though GANGSTER MOVIES used some of the same reviewers, the entries in GANGSTER MOVIES were interesting and informative without sounding too academic, unlike several reviews in WAR MOVIES.

Film buffs should enjoy this latest MUST SEE entry. Recommended. 101 Gangster Movies (101 Movies)'
