White As White Can Be

If you're looking for a new and unusual surface to print on and incorporate into your artwork then look no further than this ebook. You'll find everything in here that you need to know to turn the humble soda can into an intriguing new component in your artwork and it's a lot easier than you think! Kathyanne starts at the beginning with how to actually cut open and clean the can so that it can be prepared for printing with an inkjet precoat. Once your cans are coated and ready for printing she walks you through attaching them to a carrier sheet so that they can be fed through the printer. Kathyanne's instructions are clearly written, easy to follow and accompanied by a full color illustration.

In the second half of this ebook Kathyanne shows you the many different ways you can alter, assemble and incorporate your printed beverage cans into your artwork. These are accompanied by photographs of her own artwork created with printed beverage cans that you'll find hard not to be inspired by. Each piece is beautifully photographed and gives the view a nice look at the rich textures and color of the artwork.

If you're interested in exploring the medium of digital printing then I highly recommend this book as well as Kathyanne's other ebooks; Inside Sensual Surfaces and Designing Intriguing Surfaces. The Complete Guide to Digital Printing and Assembling Beverage Cans'

Multi-region Dvd Player - multi-region dvd, dvd player

I will only buy region free DVD players. This is super easy to use, weighs next to nothing, and doesn't take up much space in my cabinet. I plays DVD's from Germany, the U.S. and just ordered a DVD from Amazon UK. I have a few DVD's that are slightly scratched and haven't had any skipping with this player like I did with my older player. If you ever think you might be purchasing a DVD outside of the U.S. this is the economical player for you. PIONEER DV-220V-K 1080p HDMI UPSCALING REGION FREE DVD PLAYER w/ USB Input

I have several region "0" DVDs which will NOT play on my older Toshiba DVD player plus a few region 2 which won't. After reading the reviews on this product I purchased it from World Wide Distributors. It arrived in 2 days complete with an HDMI cable (you DON'T need to buy it separately if purchasing from this company) which is of no use to me as I have a SONY WEGA TV, before HD days. Simply pluggged the included red-white-yellow leads into the player and the TV, powered it up, and immediately without any adjusting it played a region 0 which would not play on the Toshiba player, a region 1 of course played fine, and then a region 2 played as well. A friend has a recent model player from another company, much more expensive, in which you must enter a variety of codes to make it play the various regions. Not so with the Pioneer - insert the DVD and the player figures out what to do to make it play. It will also play my photo CDs - a nice bonus. What more could you ask for in this price range! Fantastic, highly recommended!

I bought this to play .avi / divx files and the upscaling feature is incredibly good for the price. My old player would show the pixels if the file was of a lower quality but this player delivers a high quality version.

I did a lot of research before buying this unit and it paid off.

Spare yourself some time and go with this one if you are looking for an inexpensive multi-media dvd player.

My wife also likes the easy to use remote control.

I picked up this dvd player to replace a used region free dvd player, and i was not dissapointed. I picked up this pioneer region free 1080p dvd player for the price of a new xbox360 or ps3 game, 60$ brand new and i absolutely love it. I use to watch my dvds on my ps3 but since I have purchased this dvd player its all i use for 1080p upscaling. Basically If you need a player that plays dvds from all around the world and you want them to look great on your hdtv do yourself a favor and pick this dvd player up.

There are actually 2 different models of this Pioneer DVD Player, it's a bit confusion, but let me try and clarify...

There's the DV-220V-K (US Version) and the DV-220KV-K (European/Asia Version) aka "K" Version. Please note, the extra "K" in the second model stands for Karaoke and will come with a microphone Jack and echo effects knob in the front for optional karaoke. For whatever reason they are both listed as just the DV-220V-K on the title page, but if you double check on the product details & model number below, the region free one should indicate DV-220"K"V-K.

Here's where it gets a bit technical...

Some of the "K" versions from Europe (Region 2) were originally designed to handle 220v-240v (this is not what you want for use in the US). But most "K" Versions from Asia like Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia or Singapore should indicate on the back of the unit that it will handle voltages ranging from 110v-240v just like most laptop adapters do, making them more suitable for international usage. The K Versions comes standard with a European/Asia Pin type Power Cord, but the sellers should give you a U.S. Prong adapter Plug to fit into U.S. Socket Outlets, because it was not originally intended for the USA. Also note, The US version (Region 1) can only handle 110V.

Tech Bonus...

The "K" Version also has a twin wave laser pick up system,(which reduces noise and increases the units durability, since 1 laser is dedicated to playing CDs and the other laser is dedicated to playing just DVDs) and it's the only "TRUE" Region Free Player, because it has the Dual system Playback ability to handle both NTSC (USA Dvds) and PAL (European & Asia Dvds) disc formats. The US Version can only handle NTSC, but not PAL format.

This would explain why some buyers who purchased the player and got the US Region Free version, complained that it wouldn't play some of their discs, b/c it's probably a PAL formatted disc and you need a region free that handles both NTSC& PAL, so be sure to check the seller's note to make sure you're getting the region free K Version, aka DV-220"K"V-K.

I brought this DVD player after reading all the good reviews but no one wrote about the USB port supporting the portable hard disk....but i decided to go for this DVD player.

When i get this DVD player i directly tried to play the movies from my portable Western Digital 320GB hard disk(FAT32) and for my surprise it recognized my hard disk and played AVI file movies which i downloaded.

I liked this DVD player a lot the video quality is good, supports external hard disk,it played my scratched DVD....thats more then enough for me :) - Multi-region Dvd - Dvd Player - Region Free Dvd Player - 1080p'

Baby Boomer - 720p, lcd hdtv

This is my first HDTV, but not the first I've had experience with. I wasn't sure what to expect with it when I hooked it up but I am not at all unhappy with this television.

My main uses for this TV include:

HD Gaming (Xbox 360)

SD Gaming (Wii, PS2)

and DVDs

Usability:

The remote is easy to read and easy to use. It's far more streamlined than my previous television's remote and easy to get at what I want to. It's easy to set the Input channels: TV, Video out, Colorstream HD (the channel for the composite hook-ups), HDMI 1, HDMI 2, and PC. You also have the choice of 6 ways to display what's on screen, which is handy when switching between game consoles that are HD to one that is a bit older and displays in non-Progressive SD.

Screen Quality and Clarity:

The screen displays BEAUTIFULLY, crisply, and cleanly. The reaction time and contrast is very good just looking at it with a discerning eye. My HD video games play really well and whether I'm playing RPG's or a fast paced FPS games, everything comes out clear, crisp, and with no artifacts when the picture is moving fast. DVDs display sharply and clearly and I don't have to squint or toy with the contrast to make anything out, even in darker games or movies.

Another great thing about this TV is that you have to move at very odd angles, sometimes even almost completely facing the side to get a major loss in viewing quality. You don't have to sit straight across from it to get the only good picture, sometimes I sit on the floor a few front of the TV looking up at it and it's still clear and perfect. So if you're pressed for space like I am, this is a great TV.

Sound:

It's a bit tinnier than my previous set's bombastic sound but it's still great without an added speaker system. The volume is really good, and it sounds gorgeous for the sounds of my 360 games. With or without a home theater speaker system, it sounds fantastic.

All in all, this is a GREAT SET, doubly so if you are looking to have BANG FOR YOUR BUCK.

I am a regular DVD watcher and hardcore gamer and this perfectly suits my needs, as well as my family who just like to use it to watch television.

The ONLY gripes I have with it are that I wish that it had one more component cable hook-up and one more composite cable hook-up, but it's fine for what I'm using it for right now. Toshiba 32C100U 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV (Black Gloss)

General:

I bought this TV to replace my beloved Toshiba CRT HDTV. I was a bit worried about the fact that Toshiba does not like to post the contrast ratio as well as their response time, but I knew that my CRT had a great picture and thought I would give this TV a chance. I am glad that I did. First this is not a high end TV so as a result the picture quality is definitely not going to blow you away. The picture is decent though and has accurate color and works well for all kinds of viewing: HD sports (nbc football), Television programs (HD and cable tv), Blu ray (LOST), and PC (actually a mac hooked up through the HDMI). Where this TV really shines is the features, especially if you own a PS3.

Features:

This TV only displays 720p (1366x768, like most 720p LCD's) but you are able to input 1080p so that the TV down-scales to 768 lines from 1080 lines of resolution to give you a great looking picture. This TV also accepts the 24hz 1080p signal from a PS3 or other blu ray player to give you the closest experience to film quality which this TV does a decent enough job handling this conversion, however to be honest there is not a whole lot of difference between having the 24hz on or off on the PS3. The Regza link is awesome. I have a PS3 hooked up through a Sony HDMI receiver the link controls the receiver power and volume with the TV remote it also controls the PS3 playback and XMB menu. Basically the link allowed me to go from 3 remotes to watch blu ray to only one and allows me to switch back to watching cable only using the TV remote (I should note that I have unscrambled cable, no cable box).

Picture:

The contrast ratio is definitely helped by the dynalight feature that locally dims parts of the picture that are black but you will still need to tweak the backlight settings depending on weather your lights are on or off. The main problem with the picture is dark scenes in movies in a bright room. The dynalight helps to keep blacks dark, but it would help to have 2 picture settings that were user defined for lights on and lights off, because the movie picture setting is pretty much useless unless you are lucky enough that it works for your setup. Also I have noticed the TV has trouble going from black to white in quick cuts in movies. You can see pixels that go from really dark to really bright are struggling to keep up with the rest of the picture. The picture quality is very good for a Television at this price. I struggled getting a LCD Television because I hated the pixelation that I noticed on all of my friends Televisions that adopted LCD and Plasma early. This TV has verly little pixelation, the picture is sharp and has spot on colors. For cable and OTA signals the cable clear helps to make pictures look smooth and clear. I own the first 5 seasons of lost on Blu ray and this is the most beautiful it has ever looked.

Gaming:

As you might have guessed I am more of a movie buff than video gamer, but games are important. I've played a few games and I must say the gaming mode is for real. I played Gran Turismo 5 prologue and the picture was perfect and experienced no noticeable lag. Do not be confused the gaming mode is not just another view setting, it turns off all the unnecessary processing to allow there to be less lag between the gaming system and the display. My CRT was perfect for gaming, CRT's are great because there is no lag, and this LCD does it's best to mimic the little to no lag CRT.

Sound:

Let's face it TV speakers are not going to blow you away. So this TV is pretty average. Where it really excels is it's ability to work with a linked receiver. It knows when I switch to my PS3 to let the receiver do it's thing and when I'm watching cable the TV tells the receiver to switch to the TV input. Also any audio input on the TV is passed on to the optical digital output. The sound coming through the receiver is great and the intelligence of the input switching through the link is so much better than just having a universal remote.

Final Thoughts:

This TV will not be the center piece of a demo quality home theater set-up, but at the price it is good at what it does. Which is display great HD for a 32inch TV. The great thing about this TV is it provides all the functionality without charging you extra for bells and whistles that will not improve your experience.

Pros:

Regza Link for HDMI controls PS3 and HDMI Receivers

Dynalight helps contrast ratio

Decent picture for all sources.

24hz input compatibility for Blu ray

1080p input compatibility to get all 768 lines of resolution on TV

Gaming Mode

Good Value

Cons:

Black to white response time could be better.

Only one set of user defined picture settings.

TV Sound alone is sub-par for this price range. - Lcd Hdtv - 720p - Hdtv - Toshiba'

Soft Pencils - art products, prismacolor

I read the reviews that complained about the brittle fill in these pencils and they are all true, if you accidentally drop one or in my case the cat knocked the box off the table you have pretty much useless color pencils and the leads have shattered and you cannot sharpen past them.

Loved the colors and blendability wish my pencils were still useable as ot seems the leads are broken about 3/16 inch apart. Prismacolor 92807 Prismacolor Scholar Colored Woodcase Pencils, 48 Assorted Colors/Set

My prismacolors were definitly a good investment. However, colored pencils break very easily when dropped and a few of the leads in mine were broken when I received them. I do not feel like they were packaged properly.

I was looking for a colored pencil set that had a wide variety of hues for art projects that I want to do. Based on the description of this product, it appeared that this set would meet my needs. I have been using this set for a few weeks and this product has met my expectations.

When I opened up my package of colored pencils I was so excited to use them. I started drawing with light wide strokes, the colors were vivid and blended together nicely.

Then as soon as I wanted to darken an area... the lead fell out...! I decided just to use another similar color. Everything was fine for like two minutes then the lead broke out of this pencil too! So I tried a third pencil with the same results.

I sharpened the three broken pencils and went back to drawing. Within minutes all three pencils were broken again.

I guess these pencils would be nice for very light drawing. I would not recommend these pencils.

This was my first set of Prismacolor's I got. And everyone told me they would be a great starting tool saying that if I start out with the Premier I might press to hard and break the lead...I dont think that was good advise for me being a older starter, I wish I would have just started with the Premier. Although, I do see for some younger starters this would be a GrEaT starting set.

The colors are virant and wonderful compared to Crayola...I dont think I could pick up a Crayola colored pencil again! Compared to the Premier pencils though, they go much quicker then them...meaning I have to sharpen them much more than Premier...so they will not last as long, therfor the price you pay for Premier is worth every penny!

Poorly packed. When I received them, the plastic casing had popped open and pencils were everywhere. Very fragile. These were too expensive to be packed so poorly as well as being so fragile you couldn't drop one without damaging it.. VERY disappointed in this purchase.

My granddaughter is an aspiring anime artist. I wanted to give her a NICE set of colored pencils but wasn't ready to spend $100 on a set at her age. She uses this brand in her art class, so I thought this set would be a good quality choice at a reasonable price. She was excited to receive them on Christmas. But these pencils are TERRIBLE! They are brittle and constantly break, are impossible to sharpen, and they do not color smoothly or evenly! She said that the cheap ones from the craft store are better, and these are now going unused. We will splurge on a better set for her birthday. Don't waste your money on these! - Prismacolor - Soft Pencils - Art Supplies - Art Products'

Siding Nailer - siding nailer

I purchased the Freeman siding nailer to complete the cement siding installation on my mother-in-laws home. I looked at other options but the next best thing was 379.00 siding nailer at Home Depot. Not wanting to hand nail or spend that much for a nailer I took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. Power, depth control, weight and overall comfort were spot on. I will use more of Freeman tools in the future. The only change I would suggest is adding a carrying case for us guy's that only use occasionally. Freeman 2-1/2 -Inch Coil Siding Nailer

I would like to say this gun has operated without a single misfire.. After roughly 2000 nails.. the main issue is the depth adjustment does not work so i had to turn down my air pressure, and there are exposed screw ends right where you hand will grip and I have been caught a few times but I wear gloves so no cuts but just annoyed.

I would say this has worked as great as my Bostitch coil gun but I needed one with a smaller nail head for siding and fencing and this worked great!! minus the annoyances with the gun.

I have used guns that are double this price and never again will I spend that kind of money, when this one is perfect and quality! I have used it three times already, once to side a whole house, once to put up 600' of cedar fence and another time to partially side a garage. Never jammed one time because of the gun malfunctioning. once in a while because the nail coil I put in was bent up, but that has nothing to do with the gun. It works great and i'm buying another one right now.

Thank you Freeman for making a quality tool at a more affordable price!

I bought this nail gun about a month ago have put about 1000 nails through it putting up cedar lap siding. It works great, 1 or 2 jams but only takes a minute or so to un jam. Light weight and is doing a great job for the price. The only complaint I have , and it's not really a compliant, is that to turn the exhust you need a allen wench, some of the more expensive models are tool less to turn the exhust. Other than that I would highly recommend it to anyone. great value.

First of all, I cannot figure out how these guys are making any money selling this gun for this price. The quality is way above what the price would suggest. I had never heard of these guys so I called the 888 number and a PERSON answered. She put me thru to a salesman and we talked about their product lines, company history, future plans, and warranty. I must have wasted 15 minutes of this guy's time but I was satisfied and I ordered it right up. I shot a few thousand 2.5" nails thru advantec and into yellow pine trusses without fuss. Maybe only 5-10 missfires. As good as any big name I have ever used. I tell all who will listen about this company and I will look to them for future needs of other guns as well. Do not hesitate because of the lack of exposure to this name.

The coil nailer arrived quickly with the air fitting installed. I loaded up 1 3/4 ring shank nails and worked three days on a ceder fence. No problems and I used over 3000 nails. Great little nail gun.

I used this gun to put hardboard siding on a house. It miss fired a few times but is easy to fix. I had several double fires, but started bumping the gun instead of pulling the trigger. The main problem is that it did not want to sink the 2 3/8 nails all the way into the siding when going in to 2x4's. It worked well going into osb. The door of the nails also popped open about 5 times. I should be able to address issues within the 7 year warranty period.

I bought this based on the other reviews. I'm currently using it for hardie board. I first used it for the 7/16 OSB plywood (waferboard)that went on first. Lots of double firing with the plywood, but no misfires. The trigger seemed very sensitive, I had to get used to it. Of course it may be the nails I'm using. Now, with the hardie board, It has misfired twice, and I've used about 3 or 4 nail rolls so far, and only double fired a couple of times, so no big issue there. As one reviewer said, there does seem to be a small issue with the depth adjustment. I have to adjust it fairly often. Otherwise, a GREAT gun with no complaints. I've nailed about 27 4x8 sheets of hardie board in the last 2 days, and I'm very happy with the guns performance. I'd highly recommend it. - Siding Nailer'

Entertainment - gift card, gift certificate

Do not buy from this seller. I ordered 2 gift cards. Both required activation codes that arrived a month after I placed the order (1 I had to call and request), and 2 weeks after the gift cards had arrived at their destination. The receiver of the gift cards had no idea that they required an activation code, and were simply told that their gift cards had a zero balance when they tried to use them. This is a ridiculous system. Just go buy a gift card and mail it yourself. Much easier, and less confusing to the receiver of the gift card. AMC Gift Card

I ordered card on Dec 18,2009. My nephew tried to use, card had 0 Bal. They wouldn't active the card because it was bought in July. Card took over two weeks to get and he still can't use it. I'm getting the run around from AMC and Amazon, now I'm trying to get a refund, becaue it seem like no one can active the card. Sucks!!

I ordered a couple of weeks before Christmas. This morning, CHRISTMAS EVE, I get a notice that this card (and one other gift card) were being refunded because my email address was rejected. Hm? On the same order, I received all the other items I ordered and emails regarding them without trouble. Now I have 2 nieces without gifts, but their siblings have gifts from the same Amazon order. I will not try to order a gift card this way again.

I am very annoyed about this product. I ordered this gift card as just that, "a gift". I was very embarrassed to hear that when the person tried to use it, there was NO MONEY on it. I quickly checked my credit card and found that it HAD been charged. Now I have to call them and figure out how to fix this. I am so embarrassed.

I order this gift card with 2-day shipping on the 19th of december for xmas. Today is the 24th of December and I don't have my item. Therefore someone will be without a christmas gift this year. I definitely want a refund as soon as possible. Infact under my track package button it says that the destination isn't even where I live.

It's going to englewood co, and I live in connecticut. I tried to track the package by ups however they have told me they didn't even receive the package yet. Very unhappy. Be warned everyone.

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM GIFT CARD MALL! I KNOW I WILL NEVER AGAIN! I ordered 3 Gift Cards from Gift card mall on December 3, 2010. I NEVER RECEIVED THE GIFT CARDS even though I was sent a confirmation that they would be delivered before christmas. I called them on December 17 and they told me the gift cards had gotten lost and they would cancel the order. LONG STORY SHORT, I'VE CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE EVERY FEW DAYS SINCE DECEMBER 17 (IT IS NOW JANUARY 19, ALMOST TWO MONTHS SINCE I ORIGINALLY ORDERED THE GIFT CARDS) AND THEY ARE YET TO REFUND ME THE $300 FROM THE GIFT CARDS WHEN IT WAS THEIR MISTAKE!! EVERYTIME I CALL THEY GIVE ME AN EXUSE AS TO WHY THE MONEY HASN'T BEEN REFUNDED AND FOR TWO WEEKS NOW THEY HAVE BEEN TELLING ME THAT THEY MONEY WILL COME ANY DAY NOW!! SAVE YOURSELF THIS TROUBLE! AT THIS POINT, I DON'T THINK I WILL EVER SEE MY MONEY BACK AGAIN!!! GO SOMEWHERE, ANYWHERE, ELSE TO ORDER GIFT CARDS! TERRIBLE SERVICE

I ordered a gift card to be sent to an address in Indiana, not sure when it was delivered, because the card did not say who it was from. I asked the recipient if he had gotten my "present" (did not want to say what it was), he kept saying no, so after about 3 weeks, contacted the company, claiming a lost card. A few days later, got automated response, but in that time he discovered that the card had arrived earlier, just didn't know who it was from. I contacted the company to report it was not lost, but keep getting auto replies asking me what I want to do about my lost card. Disappointing service, won't order gift cards here again. - Gift Card - Gift Certificate - Gift Cards - Entertainment'

Belt Clip - junk

I bought this cause I thought there would be 2 clips, turns out this is a single clip with the lock piece considered the 2nd piece. I guess it's my mistake for misunderstanding what was being sold, but I think the title of the item is a little confusing "2 piece set".

The case for my G1 costs the same amount and comes with a clip, so I see no point of buying just a clip itself, unless the case for your phone costs much more. REPLACEMENT BELT CLIP for SNAP-ON COVER HARD CASE - 2 PIECE SET ATTACHES TO MOST PHONE COVERS

cheap plastic, don't buy this garbage. Worst part is my nokia 5800 took a 4 feet fall because this clip broke. And now my phone is showing problems, don't think the manufacturer is going to speak up to cover the cost of my phone repair/replacement due to their junky belt clip.

Auxiliary Input - car stereo, cheap

The sound is good. But with in days the mechanical tuner stopped working in cold (32 degree) temps (slippage). It worked again when the car got warmed up. It will repeat a CD song but will not play it in random/shuffle mode. Other features don't seem to work. Naxa tech support did not bother to reply to my request for help. I am returning it ASAP. Going to put out a little more $ for a better brand with better tech support. Naxa Detachable Stereo AM/FM Car Radio MP3/CD Player USB Input, SD/MMC Card Slot and Aux-in Jack

this is a cheaply made stereo, the usb, sd, and aux input work and sound good, however the tuner has bad reception and the buttons need to be pressed firmly to function. shipping was fast but I would rather have spent a little more on a better quality system.

3 - No control remoto.

- Car Stereo - Cheap - Auxiliary Input - Sd Card'

Computer - bluetooth headset, samsung

I needed to purchase more replacement earhooks after the clear plastic OEM replacements broke in under a month each. Although these aren't the soft, rubberized earhooks that came with the original Bluetooth headset, they still withstand bending and flexing and are comfortable. I use mine daily--still on the first one after two months. Would definitely recommend. 5 Pack of Black Ear Hook Earhook Replacement for Samsung Wep460 Wep470 Wep450 Wep475 Wep600 Wep700 Bluetooth Headset. BENDABLE & FLEXIBLE. Custom Design. Made in USA By Ez-flex, Inc.

Works better than the brittle clear earhooks that originally came on my Samsung headset. The curve is also smaller so it fits tighter to my ear. It also works better for my wife who couldn't use the headset with the original hook because it was too big for her.

After the one hard plastic ear hook supplied with my headset broke, I needed a replacement. Local stores were no help. I found these online.

The price is good, though I doubt I'll ever need this many. They are flexible plastic and are comfortable. They should be more durable though I haven't had them long enough to tell. They clip on my Samsung WEP460 perfectly.

I am very disappointed with these "compatible" ear hooks for my Samsung Bluetooth headset. Each time I wear one, it breaks! It seems that they are too small for a grown person's head. They may fit my grandson!! Cheap plastic, very thin. Avoid buying these as you will regret it!!

Buy the "MOTOROLA OEM H17 H525 EAR LOOP HOOK EARLOOP EARHOOK REPLACEMENT by Motorola" it's the same PRICE and all you have to do is super glue it to your WEP350, you will never have to replace the hook again! It's the best solution to a REALLY crappy ear loop! This is what I did because I got sick of these breaking. The circle on the Motorola ear hook fits right over the ear piece and it is such a relief to not have to worry about this anymore, it's a sturdy ear piece! It will work with all the Samsung WEP Series Bluetooth headsets and you won't have to keep buying cheap replacements!

I am also very disappointed with these ear hooks for my Samsung WEP350 Bluetooth headset, which have been breaking at a rate of one a day. I have a larger head, so maybe that's the problem, although other ear hooks have lasted just fine and required me to do something that broke them. - Bluetooth Headset - Accessories - Samsung - Bluetooth'

Fun For Little Hands - kids, fun for little hands

I bought this kit for my 2 granddaughters, ages 5 and 3. It is simple, clean and lots of fun for them. The final product is so cute and they love to play with their home made bugs! They are raising butterflies from caterpillars, so this fun little project intensified the enjoyment of their current interest in bugs.

Although the project is simple, they do need adult help and supervision. I do not mean that the adult had to do the project while the child watches - the kit has plenty of simple and rewarding tasks that a child can do for themselves while an adult instructs, but the adult caregiver needs to be completely involved. Count on a little bit of frustration and crying when attempting the first project. Our little ones experienced a learning curve, but after the first bug was completed, and they felt the satisfaction of having the final product, the other bugs went much smoother because they understood the process better and had a vision for the finished artwork. It has been a good patience building activity - they had to overcome some hurdles, but they experienced success in the end.

One BIG negative: The GLUE STICK has several problems:

The first con is that the adhesive is not strong enough, so the project keeps falling apart while in process. This could have been a disaster, and the tears were flowing freely until I got the idea to reinforce their glue jobs with a stapler. THE STAPLER SAVED THE DAY - DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS PROJECT WITHOUT A STAPLER AND PLENTY OF STAPLES! And liquid school glue won't hurt to have on hand either. When we did the ladybug, the legs were made of Popsicle sticks which were too heavy for the glue stick adhesive, and too thick for staples. We glued them with school glue and let it dry overnight.

The second con is that there is only ONE glue stick! If you are working with only one child, this is not a problem, but if there are two children, you can expect them to fight over the glue stick. THE GLUE STICK IS VITAL, AND IS NEEDED FOR EVERY STEP OF THE PROJECT. Just realize that before starting the project that you need an extra glue stick for each extra child.

ALSO: I do not recommend trying to do this project with more than two children, unless they are unusually gifted, or one of them is older than 6 years old OR you have two or more adults to help. Some people think this would make a good party activity, but I say that is asking for trouble unless you have at least one adult for every two children. The projects are simple, but an average child needs plenty of help - especially on the first time. You will be in over your head if you try this with more than two small children at a time. The ideal is one on one.

This is a wonderful and fun project if you are prepared for the few minor pitfalls. My granddaughters have made all the bugs in this kit and are begging for another kit. I am planning to get them the paper bag puppet kit next! Really REALLY glad I got this for them. Alex Toys Paper Plate Bugs, Alex Little Hands Art Series

If you are like me, time crunched, busy and not so very artistic, then this is for you. I love doing projects with my son, but am not very artistic when it comes to ideas for projects to do. This is a great way to have time together and really create cute art. I have several different kits from Alex Toys and my son enjoys them all. He is 3, and he loves the glue and mess that art makes, he does not have a preference, but he likes looking at the pretty things we make. These art kits have saved me from endless hours in the craft store trying to buy all the separate things needed to make cute crafts with my son. You will love it!

My daughter received this as a gift for her fourth birthday. We did the first bug project this afternoon, and although she was happy with the finished product, there were some frustrations along the way. There is no way these projects can be done exclusively with the included gluestick. In fact, we used the glue stick very little. Instead we used packing tape and some tacky glue to help hold everything together. I think a stapler probably would have been helpful too. The plates are tricky to join together because they don't lay completely flat. I did most of the "assembly" and she did the decorating. For the price, this does seem like a good option for kids who like to do projects.

This product was alot of fun for a group of 4 yo. With very little help they were able to follow the picture directions to make 'bugs'. Each bug was in a separate envelope with everything required. The only problem was that the large glue stick really didn't stick everything well enough, but we used the large stickers to glue things on too. Not really meant to be a durable product which is a good thing too!

I bought these for my 2 y.o. son. There are small pieces that are choking hazards, but I was able to watch him closely. It was very easy as they were in prepackaged bags, so we can choose which bug we want and open only that bag. However, because the paper plates are curved (like normal paper plates) at the edges, it is difficult to glue some of the pieces on. We've had a lot of fun doing it, but I'm needing to help a lot, and sometimes the glue isn't strong enough so I'm ending up stapling pieces on. They do look nice on his walls though, and he's asking to do more bugs!

I love this product! A box of single packaged arts and crafts projects that are fun to do with minimum mess. The finished products look great. My 2.5 year old loves them - asks to do them again and again. I've started buying this as a gifts and the recipient families have also loved them.

My 3 1/2 year old daughter really enjoys making these bugs. I just do one every time that we have down time with her, and she loves all of the colors and variety of things she can choose to make. The glue is washable, which is a must, and they give you pictures of the bugs so that you know what to do if you want instructions. Also, each bug is packaged separately, which makes it easier to organize to do at a later date. - Kids - Fun For Little Hands - Crafts - Creativity'

Discovery - sea, discovery

I figure if one is reading this they already know the film and are questioning whether to buy this upgraded version or not - I would have to say a resounding yes.

Knowing how he filmed this and with what equipment I had very high expectations on clarity. I tested this thoroughly by pause checking over 50 different scenes and light levels (dark, dim, bright, motion, fine detail, etc.) and I could not find fault in anything; The running water scenes, moving pans through trees - all of it. The colors, contrasts and light level all came across beautifully. The smaller LCD panels looked wonderful, but I even scrutinized on the larger Plasmas and it still looked awesome. The sound has the TrueHD and English 5.1, and the mix maintains being able to crank up the volume above normal listening levels as to immerse in the sounds/music but still hear the dialogue adequately.

This is the 172 minute version with the 10 part documentary series from the other releases included. I am very happy with this preservation so I hope that those who enjoy his work will appreciate this package. The New World: The Extended Cut

I watched this movie on DVD, and that probably made a difference in my experience. With that said, I found this movie very poetic and beautiful, but rather slow moving and in need of editing.

On the plus side, I admire Colin Farrell, who always offers a powerful performance, and newcomer Q'orianka Kilcher was marvelous and has enormous potential for future roles.

On the other hand, while I appreciated the lengths that the cast and production crew went to present an authentic Native American tribe, the director's "noble savages" perspective quickly grew weary, a problem that was compounded by the length of the film.

Probably not the film for everyone, but if you have time and appreciate aesthetics in films, I would recommend watching this movie.

The tale of the English settlers at Jamestown gets a wonderful retelling here revealing the hunger, struggle, disease, hardship, cold, and superstition that the early settlers encountered in the new world. I actually think this film does a wonderful job of revealing the wonderful paradise that was the new world before the arrival of the Europeans. The native people here are shown as primitive aboriginals, complete with tatoos, rituals, a power hierarchy and complex societies. The views of Virginia are stunning in their beauty, what a wonderful sight Virginia must have been to these early European arrivals, and how dreadful their lives could become as they learned how to survive in a world full of plants, insects, and animals they had never encountered before. The film gets 4 stars for giving us a glimpse of what the encounters between the old and new world must have been like for all parties involved.

The love story between John Smith and Pocahontas is dream-like, a world not unlike Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Yet the story is one of JOhn Smith's betrayal of Pocahontas and the incredible price she pays for her loyalty to him. Yet the film is also one of her recovery from this obsessive love so that she is free to accept the love of her husband, John Rolfe. Colin Farrell does a great job of playing the brash, brave, adventurer John Smith. Smith sees the time he and Pocahontas were in love in her father's village as a dream that he must leave behind. She on the other hand saw it as a reality that she wished to pursue to the end.

Thus in some ways the film is also about obsessive first love and the strong mature love that holds relationships together for decades. Christian Bale plays Rolfe, a tobacco farmer, who loves and marries Pocahontas, and fears losing her to Smith, but is finally rewarded in the end when she realizes that Smith was an obsession that is now passing and she must cling to the true love of her life, her partner, Rolfe.

I found the Wagner music grand, sweeping, and perfect for the grandeur that is found in North America. This is a tale told with images rather than words. It is well done and not typical.

I remember about a year ago when I saw the previews to this movie while at the local cinema. "Oooooo," I thought, "I can't wait for this to come out!" Well, I waited and waited and waited and still nothing ever came out. To my surprise, I discovered earlier this spring that it had already had its run at the box office and apparently none of the cinemas here in Memphis, TN. desired to carry it. So . . . I waited for the DVD to come out and rushed out to Circuit City to grab it on the morning of its release. I was full of anticipation all the way home about how good this "historical" movie was going to be. Would it be like "Braveheart," or "The Patriot," or maybe "Troy," or even "King Arthur" or "Alexander"? So I settled down and waited for the intense action and suspense to unfold. And I waited and I waited and I waited!

If you, like me, are under the impression that this movie is an "epic" telling or re-telling of history, or if you desire the intensity of action then you had better look elsewhere. For all of these reasons I was totally disappointed. Yet, you might ask why I would give it a 5 star review. Hmmmmm, well let's see. This movie is great for one, even if it is completely NOT what I expected.

At the center of this movie is a love story. In fact, it's more of a love story that just so happens to be set in 17th-century Virginia rather than a movie based on the founding of Jamestown that just so happens to include a love story. Does this make any sense? I've read a few other reviews that call this movie "poetic" and I can't agree more, although I've never really thought of a motion picture as being "poetic." If we want to run with the poetry analogy then I'll say that this is more of a "Tintern Abbey" than a "Rime of the Ancient Mariner." It's a "Dover Beach" as opposed to a "Dulce et Decorum Est." In other words, it's subtle, reflective, surreal, and even pensive. Sure there are a few short battle sequences, but it is centered more around the spoken thoughts of Pochahantas/Rebecca, John Smith, and John Rolfe. It's sort of a dramatic monologue if we wish to keep the poetry analogy alive.

While Christian Bale and Colin Farrell occasionally give convincing portrayals of brave, adventurous explorers, it is not really this aspect of their character that is highlighted. Instead, we delve into the innermost confines of each character's soul as this movie unfolds. We see firsthand the inevitable UNcompatibility of European and Native cultures and how diificult it truly must have been for the earliest settlers of this country. Indeed, the movie places quite a bit of emphasis on the harsh conditions faced by these first settlers and actually exposes the pitiable circumstances that rendered them virtually helpless. One may stop and wonder if we could do the same thing today. Who for the love of God would leave England with it's bountiful fields, lush gardens, paved streets, and brick houses with glass windows for the rustic "stick and mud" abodes of the New World? The contrast between the two worlds is certainly striking from the European perspective.

I had high hopes of showing this movie to my high school class, and I suspected it would be worthwhile for a U.S. history class or an English class that focuses on American literature. I suspect, however, that most adolescent minds will be bored to tears with this one. While I can't wholeheartedly recommend that you go and buy it today, I will insist upon at least a trip to Blockbuster for a weekend rental.

Again (and pardon me for sounding arrogant), this is a "thinking person's" movie. If you want action and adventure, then buy "The Patriot" or "The Last of the Mohicans." - Love - America - Sea - Discovery'

Screen Protector - screen protector, shade

Manufacturer attached two adhesive stickers directly to the film, one identifying the back and the other the front. Unfortunately, the sticker identifying the back, the side intended to be placed against the iPad, would not come off cleanly and left part of the backing of the sticker and lots of adhesive residue behind, rendering the film unusable. Shade Anti-glare Film for iPad

I have placed several anti glare films on iphones with no trouble. I spent over an hour trying to get this one on and there is still dust under the film. I think it came with dust attached!! The power support film made for the iphone is much better, wait for that one to become available.

It came with chalk like pebbles statically stuck to the protector which were impossible to remove. When I used the included soft card to press out the air bubbles, these chalk like things actually punctured holes in the protection screen. This is a poorly made product and a waste of $25. Do not buy.

Don't waste your time or money. Unless you can apply in a clean room, you'll be disappointed. No matter what you do, the airborne particles will screw it up and the bubbles are impossible to get out.

The product comes in an envelope with no instructions. Applying without a million bubbles is impossible even for one with great manual dexterity. The glare reduction is neglegable. Don'tg wase your money. - Shade - Anti-glare - Screen Protector - Film Making'

Multimedia Drive With Hdmi

I purchased the WD Live Plus HD Media Player to watch movies from my Windows Home server. I got tired of all the DVD's and no where to store them so I built a WHS from an old computer and ordered the WD Live plus. I ran a CAT5 cable to my LCD, hooked up the WD Live Plus and it automatically connected to my WHS. I was up and running in as little as 5 minutes streaming a video on the big screen. The 1st movie played flawlessly until I started to watch the 2nd movie. Towards the middle of the movie, WD Live started to freeze up. At first I thought it was my server so I rebooted the WHS and was back up and running again. Started to watch the movie and froze again. Now I'm getting very upset. Now I powered off/on the WD Live Plus and same issue. Some movies played with no issues and some movies just locked up. Now I'm getting upset with this media Player. I checked WD's website and could not find any solution to the device freezing so I ordered the "Asus O! Player" unit to replace my piece of crap WD live Plus. I was already to mail it back and connect the Asus O! Player but something told me to check the WD support website one more time before I mail back WD Live Plus HD Media Player.

I found this on their site:

"When playing a movie over a Network location on a WD TV Live HD Media Player, the video may slow down

Problem:

When playing a high bitrate movie from a Network location (computer or NAS), after a period of time, the video may slow down and jitter.

Cause:

Samba (the method the WD TV Live uses to read a network location) cannot play back high bitrate movies.

Solution:

If this problem is encountered there are two solutions:

1. Try playing the content from the Media Server selection on the WD TV Live HD Media Player. This may require installation of a Media Server on your computer. Windows Media Player 11 has a built in Media Server. There are other alternatives such as TwonkyMedia, and TVersity which may also work for these videos.

2. Copy the high bitrate content to a USB drive, attach the USB drive to the WD TV Live HD Media Player and play the content from the local drive".

I said Hmmm, "playing a high bitrate movie from a Network location", well this was my problem. I went to TVersity and they explained how the software transcodes any video depending on your network speed and devices for proper streaming settings. So I installed the software on my WHS. During the installation it prompted to install the additional AC3 codec. So I installed it on my server. After installation completed, I configured TVersity to use my Video folder on the WHS and behold video was streaming to my LCD with no issues. Actually I believe the video quality is slighter better now than it was before.

So I'll take that back about calling the WD player crap. Now I can say I'm very happy with WD Live Plus and will give it a 4 star rating now. TVersity is excellent software for streaming videos and will help any media player handle video streaming. Oh did it mention that it's free! So go ahead and purchase the WD Live Plus HD Media Player and install TVersity on either your WHS or desktop/laptop and the 2 together they'll make a perfect couple.

Enjoy. Western Digital WD TV Live Plus 1080p HD Media Player

I just got the WD TV Live Plus and I have to say that I've finally found the perfect media streamer (for now).

I've had the WD TV Live (not plus version) for about 5 months and it's served me well, streaming up just about every type of movie file that I've ever encountered. When I purchased the non-plus version, the only two features that I really wanted that it was missing was NetFlix support and full DVD menu support.

Yes, I am a bummered that my existing non-plus version can't support NetFlix, but I very well knew that what I purchased it.

Please Note: Most of the non-plus version marketing material says that it doesn't support full DVD menu navigation, but WD just came out with a firmware update that DOES add DVD menu support - Kuddos to WD for listening to their customers and giving them what they want.

Regarding the NetFlix support, the PLUS version has a different chip inside of it that is required for NetFlix support (something about copy protection). The non-plus version does not have the required chip in order to support NetFlix so if you read some rants about WD trying to !@#$% their customers, it's probably non-plus owners who feel cheated that they have to buy a new product to get NetFlix support.

I understand their frustration, but the truth of the matter is that there is nothing WD can do in order to get the non-plus to support NetFlix.

On the other hand, they *have* just added DVD menu support to the non-plus version, so anyone who says that they stop supporting the older products doesn't know what they're talking about.

To the point of the review, the NetFlix supports both queue playing (when you already have stuff added to your play now queue) AND browsing.

This is my first NetFlix player (other than my PC) so I can't really compare it to other NetFlix players. I know the Xbox also supports browsing, but I think that most other stand alone players do not support browsing.

The activation process was surprisingly easy (I just went to the NetFlix site and entered a code the Plus gave me).

Regarding HD content, I'm not 100% sure if the Plus supports this, but last night I was viewing some 30 rock episodes and it looked *really* good, better than viewing a DVD.

When starting to view a NetFlix video, it took about 15-20 seconds from when I clicked on play to when the video started playing. I don't know if this is good or bad. No streaming issues once it started playing. My device is connected directly to my router.

I also played around with the new MediaFly feature. Never heard of it before. Basically it aggregates some audio and video podcasts by topic. I saw some CNN and NPR content which is cool.

Overall I'd say this is the best media streamer ->currently<- on the market.

I emphasize currently as I REALLY wanted to get a POPBOX, which sounds like a better option (at least on paper), but it still isn't out and I got tired of waiting for it to be released.

Lastly, I know I didn't cover other aspects of the PLUS, but other than NetFlix support (and I think MediaFly support) the plus and non-plus devices are identical so go read some non-plus reviews for more info :)

[UPDATE June 21]

A few people correctly mentioned that the DVD menu support for the non plus version isn't officially out yet since it's still in beta.

You can see the entire thread of people who have download the beta version and successfully played DVDs with menus on the non-plus version here:
