Fountain Pens - lamy, pen

Somehow, I find some humor in the fact that this pen is so well rated, yet most reviewers take care to point out that it isn't the prettiest, most overpriced, or fanciest pens around. Unlike many companies, Lamy makes pens and pencils. They don't use pretentious euphemisms for pens like those other companies, nor do they charge 10x-100x what the pens are worth. They do make awesome pens like the Safari, which are indestructible and feel good in the hand, and they make some incredibly smooth nibs.

The Safari does make an awesome starter fountain pen, but it's a starter pen that'll last you your entire life. I recommend a Fine or Medium nib if you're new to a fountain pens. You can even buy spare nibs for the Lamy so that you can swap between different sizes. Lamy Safari Fountain Pen - Charcoal - Fine

The Lamy Safari is not my favorite fountain pen. However, this is the only pen that I always have with me. Well, I actually have the clear version as well, so I always have one of those two with me. The quality of the nib is excellent and writes very well. It feels OK in your hand - not as nice as some of "finer" pens, but nice. It used to be that I kept my fountain pens at my desk and carried around a ball point pen clipped to my shirt. The reason was the price - I didn't want to risk losing a pen by leaving it somewhere. That changed when I discovered this pen. I still don't want to lose it, but at this price, I am willing to risk it. The payoff is having a very good fountain pen with me for whenever I need to write.

I recommend this pen for someone first fountain pen, or for a fountain pen lover who wants an excellent "every day" pen.

Bought a cheap Cross many years ago just to see if I liked fountain pens. Cheap it was, and my interest died. Desperate for stocking stuffer ideas, I put this on my wish list after reading the wopping two other reviews.

Writes very well, and seems well built and durable. As a fountain pen novice, I didn't realize the ink was not waterproof - d'oh! I need durable ink. Bought the converter (available on Amazon) and Noodlers Bullet Proof Black both direct from WorldLux site. Works great - ink's topsoil ran under the tap, but that's all. The writing remains and highly legible.

No instructions for any of the above, but all fairly idiot proof.

Bottom line: a quality introduction to fountain pens at a reasonable price.

The Safari is the entry-level "school" fountain pen in Lamy's product line, and it shares the attributes of most Lamy pens: they're functional, sturdy, and entirely unpretentious. Most low-end fountain pens from other manufacturers are either cheaper versions of their more expensive models, or intentionally tarted up to look like more expensive pens (Waterman's Phileas with its faux art deco styling and printed marbling pattern comes to mind.) The Safari, on the other hand, is a clean, simple, and unadorned original design.

The construction of the Safari is bulletproof. It's made of ABS plastic, the nib is a steel point that's very easy to swap out, and both the Lamy standard cartridge and the optional converter hold a ton of ink. The clip is a bent wire, like an oversized paper clip, and when you put a Safari in your pocket, it'll stay right where you placed it. The Lamy steel nib is somewhat of a standard among their pens--the same nib that's on the Safari can be found on their more expensive Studio, Accent, CP1, and half a dozen other models. It just pulls straight off the feed for cleaning or replacement, and you can swap it out in five seconds for a different size. (The standard Lamy nib is inexpensive and comes in many nib sizes, from extra-fine to broad, and they even make calligraphy versions in three different widths.)

For a starter pen, the Safari represents the best value on the market. The nibs are uniformly good, the pen is damn near impossible to kill (it was designed for rough-and-tumble school use), and it can be had in many different colors. With the optional converter, you can use the many bottled inks out there, which is half the fun of writing with a fountain pen. Many fountain pen aficionados have started with a Safari, and many who did still have theirs as part of their pen rotation, because they're so tough and useful.

A note on colors and textures: the Charcoal version of the Safari has a slightly rough finish, which some people prefer over the slicker plastic finish of all the other Safaris because it's less slippery. Also, the Safari's section (the part you have your fingers on) is indented into a triangular shape to steer your fingers into the proper orientation for fountain pen writing. Most users are fine with it, but some don't like the Safari's slightly unorthodox section.

For around $30, you get a first-rate fountain pen that will hold its own against pens of three or five times the Safari's price point. It's a very utilitarian design, without a bit of "bling" on it, but when it comes to entry-level fountain pens, I can't think of a better pick for the money.

I decided to switch to a fountain pen for ecological reasons (maybe that was just the excuse I needed to justify the expense). The last fountain pen I owned was a Mont Blanc I had treated myself to after graduating some 25 years ago. That pen was very scratchy and turned me off on fountain pens in general. I was hesitant about buying another fine point after the experience with the Mont Blanc, but the reviews were so good, I thought I'd give it a try. This pen is incredibly smooth. I ordered the pen (cool white color), converter refill and some Noodler's ink from Pencity.com. Their price was great, they had everything I needed and the customer service was wonderful!!!

I was so happy with this pen, I ordered the medium point because I often prefer a slightly bolder stroke. I think it is a great pen and the low price is just a bonus. This pen is perfect for my writing style. It's a little bolder than the fine point but not too bold. Writes even more smoothly than the fine point (didn't think that was possible).

A PLUS for the fine point - good pen to keep in a purse, because of the fine line it can write on any quality paper and still be readable. - Lamy - Fountain Pens - Ink Cartridge - Pen'

Recording Equipment - laptop, recording equipment

I wanted an external audio interface for recording music into and through my laptops, which have unacceptably noisy mic inputs. I went with the Behringer UCA-222 because it was dirt cheap. So far it's fine for my purposes, nothing fancy, but I didn't expect anything fancy. Here are a few observations that may help other buyers, things Behringer doesn't really clarify in their documentation and advertising, or otherwise might be relevant and helpful to know before buying.

1) I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how the UCA-222 differs, if at all, from the slightly cheaper UCA-202 (Behringer U Control UCA202 USB Audio Interface). I finally concluded that the only differences are the name (202 vs 222), the color (222 is sports car red), and the software included. The units are otherwise identical. This is useful to know, since I've read people on other forums wondering this too. Behringer seems to go to lengths not to say this in so many words. I have a theory why (just a theory) and it involves the other main difference, the software that comes with the 222. Now more on that:

2) The 202 comes with the free and open source Audacity, and with Kreatives' Kristal Audio Engine (also free)--(neither one is the best free choice out there). The 222, on the other hand, also comes with Energy XT2.5 ("Compact Behringer Edition") and another disk with "over 100 virtual instruments plus more than 50 effects plug-ins including VST host-, audio- and podcast-software for direct start-up." For me, the question became, is the 222 worth $6 more to get this software? I decided, what the heck. Some notes on this software:

EnergyXT2.5 Compact: EnergyXT is a more or less full-featured digital audio workstation that Behringer is also promoting as their exclusive sequencing solution, in several packages (overpriced, imho, see for example: Behringer energyXT2.5 Portable Digital Audio Workstation (Standard). You can download and buy the full-sized program for 59 euros, and the upgrade from the limited compact edition sells for 29 euros. So, doing the math, the retail price for this program is about 30 euros (~$37 by today's exchange rate). The compact version is limited to 8 tracks (so you'll have to bounce down to get extra space), 8 simultaneous instruments (not a big limitation), 2 global send effects, and 2 insert effects per mixer channel (which CAN be a BIG limitation!), plus a couple other details (see EnergyXT website to dig out details). I have other workstations that I'm used to and prefer, so this wasn't a great addition for me. But all audio recorders know that having another piece of software, with its internal effects and abilities, on hand can come in handy at times. (EnergyXT for example has a nice internal drum machine). Another note: EnergyXT is more suited to MIDI than to audio (it looks and feels a lot like FruityLoops), whereas I like Reaper, Cubase, and Magix better. Like Reaper, EnergyXT is small, light, and seemingly pretty fast (I haven't used it enough to know whether it lives up to the speed and stability that they tout for it)--and it does get a 9/10 user rating on kvraudio.

The "U-Control Ultimate Software Package": There are indeed a lot of good things on this disk. But most if not all of them are free for the downloading (as free- or shareware) online. Knowing something about the VST world, this is more or less what I expected to find, when Behringer was giving away "150 vsts!" for about $6. That's actually the sneaky little secret in this product and how it is marketed, but you can't really blame Behringer too much. It doesn't make very good ad copy to say: "And we'll throw in a CD that includes over 150 pieces of freeware and shareware that you could download yourself. But hey, they're all here in one place, organized on a disk. That should be worth something, right?" But the bottom line is, that is worth something, even for those (like me) who have all or most of this stuff already lying around in my downloads and already installed in my VST folders. But I hope at the very least that Behringer has arranged some sort of profit-sharing deal with the many hobbyist, semi-pro, and struggling pro software developers that made this stuff. I mean, it would be sleazy of them if they're just bundling up freeware to add value to their product and not paying for it. On the assumption that they ARE paying the software developers for it, I feel good about contributing a bit to all those great VST developers, even if it is pocket change and via a big pro-audio hardware company.

Again on the assumption that Behringer is paying the free software developers for distribution rights, I'm not going to go ahead and write up a list of the exact VSTs and other software that is included (as I initially intended to do). If you know what I'm talking about here, chances are you've downloaded and used and enjoyed much of this stuff for free for years. If you're considering whether to buy the 222 or 202, and wondering whether the $6 or so more you'll spend (by Amazon's prices) is worth it, just ask yourself if you want or need a licensed copy of EnergyXT and/or a CD with a bunch of great (and middling) shareware VSTs and VSTis all organized by type on a CD, for easy loading on any new computer. If those two things are worth $6 to you, go with the 222. If not, go for the 202. Same piece of hardware (except of course the sporty cherry red: in the end, that was one reason I went for it, I liked the color a bit better).

The UCA222 itself is pretty bare-bones and basic. I use it to connect my laptop to an external mixer into which I route my guitar amps and microphones. It uses the Windows Legacy Audio Drivers, so you don't have to install any driver (though Behringer does provide one, but I did not install it, since I use ASIO4ALL to perfect satisfaction). The unit's output maps onto a standard Windows Audio Software Mixer and the volume is controlled at the software side. The unit's input is far more basic: it does not even generate a slider in the Record side of the Windows Mixer. You'll have to go into a program that records (your sequencer), set the input to the USB device, and arm an input to detect it. This took me some time to figure out (and I generally understand how these audio devices connect to programs)--in fact, I thought my unit's inputs were defective for a little while till I figured it out. But in the end it worked (with a little bit of annoyance and time wasted).

Another thing to know is that the unit is strictly 16 bit audio. This will definitely matter to many recording enthusiasts. 24 bit devices are readily available these days, and if digital quality is of the utmost essence, you will probably not be satisfied in the end with the UCA-222 (or 202).

Bottom line: It's hard to beat Behringer's bare-bones units for price. If you have a need or use for the extra software--and it's a good bag of goodies--throw in another $6 for the shiny red 222. Samsung - samsung, led

Use the picture settings in my Review listed at the end and the Samsung un55d7000 will look awesome. First off I notice major black light bleed out of the box & even after tweaking the TV on my own until I found the right settings from a other users.

What I really like about this tv is that my playstation 3 is synced with the tv. My tv come's on when the playstation is turned on and I can control my ps3 with my Samsung remote nice feature. The tv is nice a thin not very heavy. The 2d to 3d conversion is total crap some stuff looks good but for the most part it's a BIG gimmick. Movies & stuff filmed in 3D look amazing sometimes it's a hit & miss. So far my favorite 3d movies are : ( Monsters Vs Aliens ) ( avatar ) ( Despicable me ) Resident evil looked like crap & I really didn't like monster house. I am hoping the studios will improve 3D filming and make live action films pop out more. I tried some playstation 3 games in 3d I like the idea but WoW it really makes your eyes hurt after awhile.

Setting up the tv was pretty easy I did found setting up the wireless on the Tv to be a real pain. I am pretty good with computers and wireless network it was still a pain. I have a netgear router and I was not able to link it with normal settings the tv kept saying my pass word was wrong password ended up doing the button method on my router and samsung tv. Right away the Tv found the router and no more issues.

Now for the calibration settings that will make your set look amazing and reduce the famous Samsung clouding issue and black light bleeding which I couldn't stand until this ! Make sure you have a hdmi 1.4 cable I did notice a issue with my old hdmi cable and the 1.4 cable solved the slow lag, any cheap one will do as long as it's 1.4

I'm going to cut down to the chase.

The TV has so many good features (especially design) that are too many to list, thus, I will focus on the two things I have encountered that I know someone else might have experienced or will experience and are rather disappointing...but don't lose your hopes just yet!

1) Backlight bleeding - My TV came set up for 'store' usage mode, instead for 'home', which increases the bleeding drastically.

Changing to 'home' is quite challenging so you have to read the manual. After I changed the usage mode to 'home', it decreased considerably but was still noticeable.

I visited some forums, websites, and some even advised to put pressure on the screen with my fingers (until I see the screen changing colors), etc, but nothing seemed to work.

I decided to contact Samsung support and they advised me to change PICTURE MODE to 'STANDARD' and adjust the 'BACKLIGHT' to the value of '7'. The support guy/girl mentioned to leave this setting on for 3 weeks. After the three weeks, I should be able to change to any picture mode and to any value for the backlight. Finally, it was mentioned that if I did not see any changes, that a service ticket needs to be placed at this link (you will need to register your TV with Samsung): [...]

I made the change today 4/15/2011 so I will wright another review within 3 weeks to let you know the end results.

2) Sound stops working - I only have a PS3 and a DirecTV satellite box connected to the TV via HDMI cables (hight speed and 3D capable). I have noticed the TV produces no sound for like 1 second and then gradually comes back at a lower volume until it reaches the original volume. I have also noticed it only happens when the picture is set to 'STANDARD' and have only noticed it when the source is the DirecTV box.

I do not run the PS3 on standard mode so I can't compare, but I will do so and pay attention to the results.

In summary, I have to wait for the 3 weeks picture test, and also test the sound using the PS3 source on standard mode.

I know it's a hassle but for a TV that costs over $2000, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get a "perfect" picture and normal working sound (although you would not expect to do this since you are paying a lot of money)

...And if you got this TV from Paul'sTV (whether by Amazon's reseller program or directly from them) expect to pay 15% restocking fee and $100 shipping if you plan to return it.

Hope this helps and please post any questions/comments you may have, and I will try to answer them as soon as possible. - Led - Samsung'

These bulbs do exactly what they are meant to do. On my ceiling fan/light, I have 2 ordinary soft whites and two Reveals. The difference is clear. The soft whites give everything an obvious yellow tint. The Reveal bulbs do not. More colors come out. My eyes are more relaxed.

I often spend hours at my home computer, so anything that reduces eye strain is welcomed. One issue that the previous rater mentioned is true - their light is somewhat dimmer than of the soft white bulb of same wattage. It does not feel different enough to require a 60W instead of 40W, or to require a 75W instead of 60W. I'm fine with the same Wattage as before.

btw, I previously used a similar bulb from Philips. It may have been called "Natural Spectrum". It performed in the same way. GE 48688 60-Watt A19 Reveal Bulbs, 4-Pack

I've spent years working & living with fluorescent & regular bulbs & have been happiest & more relaxed under these bulbs! I can't afford the true full spectrum bulbs (which are paradise for the eyes & brain!) so I tried these "Reveal" bulbs. What a difference it has made to me! The eye strain I used to feel is gone, the dull head feeling is gone; the colors stand out much more brightly & so make me even feel happier. I now use only "Reveal" bulbs in my home. Not everyone will notice a difference as not everyone is affected by color & light the same ways. If you ARE feeling eye strain, that 'dull' feeling in the head or even the winter blues from lack of sunlight, these may help! Light & color affect our moods & feelings of wellness, so , buy a pack on sale, give them a try. I hope they work for you as they have for me!

I have replaced all lights in the house over last 2 years with GE reveal. They seem to have a long lifespan and the difference in color is amazing... walls that once were yellow tinted are now white... colors are more vibrant... especially poinsettia plants at Christmas! The rooms seem more lush and vibrant. Whatever room you do first... be sure to replace all the bulbs or else he mixed effect may cancel out the benefit.

I have been using Reveal as well as other full-spectrum bulbs. I generally get these because they give off a great light and tend to be about half the price of the Verilux and other full-spectrums I like.

However, they seem to last about 2/3's as long, sometimes half as long as the Verilux and I spent the last year installing them side-by-side with the Verilux to give them equal testing in the same light array(I have a 4 bulb light array in my office and they all answer to one switch).

I do love how much easier it is on the eyes to read under this light, and everything, including my art and carpet, look much better with this.

I am reluctant to switch to compact fluorescent due to the pollution they cause and the rare earth metals that are being depleted by their use and I am starting to stockpile the incandescent bulbs and picture a time when they will only be available "speakeasy" style after the law takes effect.

Compact Florescent light is harsh, white and I find causes eye strain when reading under it.

Using the GE Reveal light bulb my house ( and especially my reading room) has been looking better. It was doing a room makeover by only buying a new light bulb. The words now jump of the page. The pages (and the room) look brighter and whiter. I too was skeptical. However, when BzzAgent.com sent me a free package of light bulbs I had to take the plunge. Since installing my first reveal, my friends and family have all commented positively. - Ge Reveal - Lighting - General Electric - Compact Fluorescent'

Kind of a blunt title for a review, but I'm cutting to the chase here. I'd been wanting to take a multivitamin, but every time I tried one, I threw up. Every. Single. Time. It was not pleasant. I had trouble pinpointing what was making me ill at first (when you start one healthy trend, it usually coincides with others -- like eating healthier and exercising) but it was definitely the vitamins. I did a Web search hoping to find one that would be gentler on my stomach. This one popped up, so I tried it. I'm very happy with it. I can take it with or without food (though I err toward food, just in case). I haven't had a single stomach problem. I've felt a lot better in recent weeks, too. This one isn't a crazy MV with 4,000% of anything, which is another thing I like. It's in the 200-400% range on most vitamins, which is just fine by me. I'm really happy to have found one that doesn't make me ill. Rainbow Light Just Once Iron-Free Multivitamin SafeGuard Tablets 120 tablets

I was doing a little research and stumbled on these vitamins. I was a little skeptical when it says gentle on stomach, I have tried different ones that stated the same thing and was false. Once I took that first pill I felt great and no stomach problems. These vitamins are very pure and potent and in my opinion you will not find a better multivit for the money. I really think I found my everyday multivit. I like the fact that it has whole foods in it also, and is iron free. I reccomend to all that you should try this wonderful product!!!!!!!!!

Rainbow Light Just Once Iron-Free Multivitamins are the best vitamins I have ever taken. These vitamins do not have any after effects unlike every other vitamin I have ever taken. Originally I had gotten them through a local health food store, but Amazon prices beat theirs by a mile. Fast delivery, excellent service!

Best multivitamin in my opinion and because have iron in my daily food with meals (meat), there's no need for extra iron and this vitamin is iron free. Yes it is gentle on your stomach and works very well. I have been taking Rainbow Light Vitamins for years. - Rainbow - Gluten Free - Rainbow Light - Whole Foods'

Action Thriller - action thriller, books for boys

The Resnick family has just moved to the most boring place on earth, Brewster, Pennsylvania. The kids, Ryan and Regan, can't figure out why their parents choose to take this job. Their parents had been offered plenty of great jobs all over the world and they'd always declined. Then, out of the blue, their parents suddenly tell them that they are moving to the middle of no where.

What Ryan and Regan don't know is that their parents are keeping a secret from them, an extremely large secret. There is no Proact, the company where the children's parents are supposed to work. Their parents actually work on a super secret project called Prometheus. The truth of this project is absolutely out of this world.

Trapped is a complete thrill ride. These kids use their brains and their creativity to get them into and out of the most amazing adventures. I enjoyed the story so much that I've already picked up a copy of the next book in this series. The Prometheus Project: Trapped

After six weeks in Brewster, Pennsylvania, Ryan and Regan Resnick are looking for anything at all to help relieve their boredom. So, when they discover their scientist parents are working in a top-secret facility where something seems suspicious, they want to find out what's going on.

Getting in requires some logic and skill, but they soon find that getting out might pose a larger problem, as will saving their mother from certain death.

As they explore this fascinating location, they come across challenges that test their intellect and reasoning ability. Using the scientific method, they need to discover how to navigate this strange environment that occasionally turns hostile on them. And saving their mother will be the ultimate test.

This book held my interest from the moment I picked it up. Just like Ryan and Regan, I wanted to know what was happening in Prometheus Alpha, and I tried to solve the puzzle of how to get in right along with them.

The alien city was reminiscent of Harry Potter's Hogwarts, where anything could happen, and there were no limits to the places they could go or the things they could do. I would have loved for the kids to spend more time exploring, but under the circumstances, they had no time to waste.

The unique puzzle they needed to solve to save their mother made my head spin, but ultimately their logic was right on. It certainly will give kids something to think about.

This is a well-written and enjoyable science fiction adventure. I highly recommend it.

Reviewer: Alice Berger

Bergers Book Reviews

"The Prometheus Project: Trapped" by Douglas Richards lives up to its press release which had these among others:

* The California Department of Education added it to its list of "Recommended Literature for Math & Science.".

* National Geographic Kids senior editor Catherine Hughes wrote "Captured is a page-turner that kids -and their parents-will love reading".

* The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, a home schooling publication, wrote "unlike any book that I have ever read."

The last one captured my interest. As a home school Dad who helps with math and science anything that helps me out works for me!

This is a science fiction book. Sci-fi is a genre I grew up reading. My favorite was Issac Asimov, whose books were always based on factual science, and this is what I expect of my Sci-fi, a little learning with the fun. Trapped did not disappoint me!

The main characters are an older brother and younger sister whose parents are brilliant scientists working on a top-secret project exploring an alien underground city. The kids use their smarts to break into the city and with the help of the telepathic computer teacher in the city, saves their mother from a deadly accident.

I read the book in 2 days, splitting the reading at Chapter 14. The first half seemed rather slow. The only science was a using talcum powder to `see' the laser sensor beams trick, and then there were 2 word puzzles used to figure out the secret passwords, which I liked. However, the second half really packed it in!

The scientific method, gravity and falling objects, nano-technology, and problems of observation and hypothesis are just of few of the lessons the kids learned. Add to that courage and determination to solve these problems and you've got what makes this book special.

An added bonus was the dialogue. The adults didn't talk down to the kids, but they did talk at their level. The kids were respectful while arguing and standing up for what they wanted.

I highly recommend this book, and I look forward to reading the next!

A very entertaining book. Thanks to the other reviewers because without their recommendations I wouldn't have gotten bought this book. You know what they say about Chinese food, how it is delicious and very filling but thirty minutes after you are done you are hungry again? Well, this book is the opposite. It is such an easy read and so fast paced that you go through it effortlessly and enjoy it a lot, but then hours, even days, later you find yourself still thinking about some of the ideas the book introduces and the complex but very satisfying plot (it ties up what you thought were loose ends beautifully). For example, the idea of nanorobots building a complex city from a single robot in the same way a human rises from a single fertilized egg is fascinating. I will definitely be looking for any future books that Richards writes to buy for my family.

This book is an excellent quality thriller. It is the story of two young kids who seek adventure and mystery, so eventually they find themselves involved in an extraordinary situation. Their parents are at risk so the kids try to help them by entering a forbidden area and they discover an alien site. What will happen to them? Are they going to survive? Are their parents going to help them?

It is a story with a tight plot, a lot of action and a lot of science. The author involves nano-technology, the internet and a lot of maths throughout his story so the readers will be educated as well as highly entertained. It is a valuable book, quite original and easy to read. The gripping storyline will make young readers read this story in one sitting and want a sequel. The author has written another book, The Prometheus Project-Captured, as a sequel to the first one.

I strongly recommend this book to all young ones up to 13, and to older kids as well. It is a story full of clues that feed the mind and educate. It is full of action, fast paced and exciting to the very end, and it is like watching a movie. I will certainly recommend this book to my younger students who learn English-it can be used as a reader in ELT too.

I find the average ladies sock doesn't work for me with a 10 1/2 size foot. Despite the fact that many socks suggest they fit up to a size 11, I often find after one washing (cold water only) there is too much shrinkage and the socks are completely unwearable. This sock is comfy and holds up to the washing machine. Light compression on the top of the foot and relaxed at the cuff, not binding or tight at all. Pros:

- Perfect fit (I'm a size 9-9 1/2)

- I love the little bit of arch support. I have really high arches so it feels great.

- Just a little more padding on the bottom makes them quite comfortable.Cons:

- Don't breathe very well and definitely aren't moisture wicking. - Whales - Women - Ankle Socks - Short Socks'

Kindle Accessory - reading light, best book light

The company that manufactures this light is called Mighty Bright, and for good reason! The lamp gives off more than enough light to read by in a pitch black room. It has two brightness settings, one with both LEDs and another with just one. The LEDs in this lamp are so bright, that only one is really needed, having two is an added bonus. I'm not using a power adatpter, I'm running off of 3 AAA batteries. LEDs use such a small amount of power, those batteries should last me a year or more. Overall I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of this light. With such a fair price I didn't think it would really hold up, but I'm definitely going to recommend it. Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Book Light - Purple

My wife who loves to read in bed after I have gone to bed, has tried many, many book lights over the years. The complaints have been many about each one, and pretty much the same. Small circle of light, have to move it from side to side to see good. So last Christmas I went on an internet hunt for the ideal book light. After a few days of research, I decided on this one for her. Now 7 months later she wants me to buy one for our daughter, and a spare for her (in case I lose or break it) cause she says could not live a night without it now. True story. It is bright and evenly covers an area of two pages of a large book without trouble, no hot spots. Seems to be the perfect book light. Battery life is excellent with the LED bulbs.

I have purchased MANY book lights in the past, but never have I owned one that was actually bright enough to read by. I usually keep moving the light around and around and around so I can see the page . I ordered the power adapter but it hasn't arrived yet, I am using 3 AAA batteries and this is a awesome light. It has 2 lights in the head you can use both or just one, the light spreads across both pages of a paperback in either mode one light or two, I haven't tried a hard cover book yet, but I really don't think this light will have any problem at all. Very Very Bright. I definitely recommend this light .

Know what is as essential in my luggage as prescriptions or deodorant? My book light! A book light is essential to a reader, or at least to me.

Whenever I go overnight or longer, my book light is packed. I don't sleep at night as most people, especially in "strange" places. So I rummage, actually, no, I don't rummage, I always know where exactly where I packed my book and my light, and slip off to the bathroom, get comfy on the bathmat and read until I get sleepy. I don't need to turn on any lights because my book light points the way. In another place I can go to the living room and snuggle in a chair, clip on the light, and read away. Last time I stayed at my mother's I tip-toed into her walk-in closet, found comforters, and read away. She's used to me.

But the best reason for a book light is when the lights go out as they are wont to do during thunderstorms or ice storms. My book light and a flash light are right in the drawer next to my bed. There are two other flashlights stashed around the house. Find one, light candles, go to bed, and read. I used to fret and fume over the electricity snapping out. No more.

In case the LED lights go out, I bought two replacement bulbs. I also own three other styles of book lights, but Xtra Flex 2 LED Book Light,Silver is the best of all. It has double LED lights, but only one is necessary. I need bright light to really see to read and this product meets my demand. Plus, the graceful curve of the neck and the sophistication of the silver make this an attractive product. It also comes in lime, purple, and bold blue. Take the clip at the bottom, snap it onto the back cover of the book and several pages for stability, click on the light, once or twice for your brightness, and enter that other world.

New technology has led to the book or craft light that will be the end to all others.

Its incredibly bright--with no shadows--, lights both pages (no shadows), is by far the brightest light (maybe double), spots only onto the book (the room remains dark), completely flexable shaft so you can direct the light exactly on what you want, AND lasts 40 hours on 3 AAA batterys!

Like comparing a Corvette to a tricycle! See to beleive.

I have to say that the Might Bright XtraFlex 2 is a wondefully bright light. If I position it correctly, it easily lights both pages for comfortable reading. It's so easy to adjust that there is never a problem getting the light where you want it. The price is great!

The problem arises when you turn the page or shift your own position. This light has a clip that does not secure well to the book. No matter how many pages you clip it to, it will swivel around and tip to the side. I get weary of righting it time and again. The clip is too bulky and I found myself missing the Itty Bitty Booklight that slips so nicely onto a back hard cover or a few pages of a soft cover, and then stays put. That is the only problem, but it's a substantial one when you're trying to read, thus the 3 stars. Right now, I'm hoping for a merger of the Itty Bitty and Might Bright. Perfect Pushup - home fitness, perfect pushup

Sounds great - mount a pullup bar in your standard door frame and make workouts easy. Unfortunately, they didn't tell you that you need to be short in stature to use the thing efficiently. By the time you mount the PP system in a standard door frame, and hang the grab handles on the bar, you're hanging so low that (if you're taller than 5'4) your knees are resting on the ground, making a full arm extension impossible. The screws that mount the brackets into the door frame are dangerously short and install very close to the outside of the door frame. If your door frame was shimmed out during installation (a common practice), the supplied screws might be too short to go into the studs, with potentially disastrous results. For your own safety, you might want to get some screws at least an inch longer from your local hardware store. You also need to consider carefully which door frame you install the brackets to; the PP bar swings out pretty far, and if your door frame opens into a hallway or near anything within four feet, you're going to bump into things while using the PP system. In my house, there are only two doorways that have enough clearance to use the PP effectively, so now I have brackets on the dining room entry - a great conversation starter. If you're using the ab straps, you hang almost as low as you do when using the grab handles, and my ab straps DID NOT come with the metal carabiners shown in the ad pictures, so in order to put the straps on the bar, you have to DISCONNECT the whole bar from the brackets each time, a big PITA! Evidently the carabiners are a bit expensive, so they've deleted them and now show the ab straps in a closeup picture, not showing how they attach to the bar. Unfortunately, they didn't lower the price, though. All-in-all, in my opinion, the Perfect Pullup is an interesting idea, poorly executed Bodyrev Perfect Pullup with Ab Straps - Black

I've recently installed the Perfect Pullup in my doorframe, and here are the observations:

1. I'm 6'2" and when hanging on the grab handles and fully extended, knees DO touch the floor. This only happens, though when you completely relax and allow your shoulders to fully extend. It was easy enough for me to do normal pullups without banging my knees on the floor.

2. Carabiners for ab straps are NOT included in the setup, but are readily available in any Home Depot. I got the ones branded WorkForce HANGALLS Jumbo Carabiner. $2.99 each. Rated at 150 lb. max, so if you're under 300 lb, you're fine.

Bought the Perfect Pullup with ab straps and I must say that it works quite well. I had no problems installing the brackets using the screws provided. I'm just under 200 lbs and the screws are long enough to hold me. I live in an older home with low doorways so I do have to do the pullups from my knees...which isn't a big deal. It's more a product of my low doorways & the fact that I'm 6'2. Some other doorway pullup bars I've tried did not work with my doorways but this one is fine. Once installed, the product is very easy to use. The bar is easily removed from the brackets for storage in between workouts..and they reattach perfectly. Same goes for the ab straps.

I would definitely recommend this product.

I have used the Perfect Pull-up with ab straps for about 6 months now. This is a high quality, well thought out design and the materials and manufacturing are really top notch. I used slightly longer drywall screws to install the hardware to insure screw penetration into the wall studs with no problems.

I also bought the Perfect Pushup handles and continue to use them with equally good results.

I am 5'11" and with this system installed in a standard 6'8" doorway my knees don't touch the floor while hanging from the ab straps or pullup bar (with handles attached). If you are taller and your knees touch - it's pretty simple to just pull your knees up off the floor momentarily when you are in the extended position - really a no brainer in my opinion.

I run trails, mountain bike your round and ski tour in winter-spring, and thus my lower body is toned and I am getting a good cardio workout. I rely on this system to keep my upper body toned and am quite happy with the results. You only get out of a product like this what you put into it. If you are willing to commit to the workouts and schedules that come with this product you will see rather dramatic upper body results - at least I did. There are also many more tips, techniques and workouts available at [...]

Compared to other similar products that I have used this one is the best definitely deserves 5 stars -

This is perfect for anyone that loves to workout and wants to save space. The abs straps are a great bonus to the setup because other pullup systems make you buy them extra. This is a great product and i would recommend it to anyone.

The bar itself is a sold design and really good in handling heavy weight. I just found that trying to get the hardware in was a bit tricky and there were no directions on how to mount the bar. I wish I got the old fashion bar over this.

My review has no negatives towards the product. Its just that many men are too tall for this product to work in any hallway, or bedroom doorway. It is very easy to install, & I feel secure when utilizing it, I just wish I had a taller doorway so that I could stand when using this. The handles are great if you had a tall bar that you needed to reach, but ineffective since the bar is already too low, using these handles even lowers your reach significantly more.

I have not given up, I will think of a way to make these work.

I love the different pull-up variations you can do on this! And the handles feel solid, though I noticed one reviewer said they broke. The "hook" portion is steel but the gray part is plastic. Like any other bar that fits

in a door frame most of us have to bend our knees, so I would be a bit worried over concrete. Mine is over a carpeted floor so I don't worry about it. If the handles were all steel I would rate it 5 stars. - Pushup - Perfect Pushup - Fitness - Home Fitness'

Youth Football - wilson, ncaa

It's a great ball to play with. Been using it for more than a year. Here's a story for you:

So we played with this ball during our flag football game. We dominated. I had 3 TD passes, etc etc. I was so happy that I forgot to put it in the trunk of my car as we were leaving. I left it on the ground. Next thing you know, as I'm backing up, I hear a big thump and felt like I ran something over. I was like OH CRAP WHAT WAS THAT! I pull over, and a friend of mine goes to take a look. As he gets out of the car, I realize it's probably my football (this one)! I was like oh man that thing had to have blown up. He comes back. It's fully in-tact and it looks like nothing ever happened to it. This thing stayed perfectly shaped and everything after a 2 ton car ran over it. End of story.

Durable? Yes. Wilson NCAA Supreme Football, Brown

I've had this ball for over 5 years now, and my guy friends and I always use it for pick up tackles and 2 hand touch games whenever we're back from college or over the summer. It's held up great. I haven't pumped it one time since; it's held the air that well with the bladder.

The grip is not super super tacky like some of those nike footballs, but more than adequate. I actually prefer the more realistic grip of this ball. It's also pleasing to catch. great unbeatable price!

I have played QB my whole life, this is a great ball to throw. I is easy to throw, nice grip on surface as well as laces. Easy to catch, easy to see in the air with the bold white strips. I bought several of these for practice ball and everyone grabs them up first. Wonderful ball for the money!!!

This official size and weight college ball is a fantastic deal at around fifteen bucks. It has a good tactile feel, is well-made and durable. Unlike some other balls in this price range, it is also true in its shape, with no irregularities that would effect spiral and loft. This is a tremendous value for the serious player.

The boys at my place needed a new football and this one was the right price. We were all pleasantly surprised when it arrived. I was afraid it might be low quality, but that was not the case. The ball has a nice tacky coating and has taken quite a bit of abuse without showing any wear. It is the official football size. The boys say it handles well.

Five stars from the guys!

(Yes, I know girls can play too, and I encourage that, but I'm just not into football much myself...)

Best pick-up game football... no questions asked. Easy to catch, perfect size for throwing, awesome awesome awesome. It does get a bit greasy and needs to be wiped down from time to time, but that is hardly enough to bring this below 5-stars.

It is a solid ball. Very soft and pretty easy to throw. The only problem is if you plan to use this on concrete, with a few too many drops the composite leather ball will begin to split apart. This is probably true of mist balls, but after about 3 weeks, mine now has a huge bubble and the stitching is coming loose on two seams. Great price though and keep it to grass. - Ncaa - Wilson - Youth Football - Hip Hop'

Waterproof Camera - waterproof camera, finepix

Just took the new camera on a white water rafting trip down the Grand Canyon. Clearly the camera met the specs for water tightness and shock ability as this type of trip had both. Pictures were of low quality, with little ability to handle a mix of shadows and light. Shutter is slow and unresponsive to the moment. In bright sunshine, or very low evening light, the lack of a view finder rendered most pictures a pure guess. Controls at the top of the camera for on/off and snapping the picture were too low a profile to allow for handling in tough situations. Worst of all was dismal battery life--only able to get about 100-125 pictures, while carefully turning the camera off in between, before battery was exhausted. Overall--very disappointing. Fujifilm FinePix XP10 12 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD (Silver)

Took the Fuji XP10 out twice; once camping at Lake Tahoe and again at Kern River. The Fuji functioned well on the first outting, but started developing problems on the latter camping trip: moisture started developing in the lens area, causing photos to appear foggy. The display became disrupted, as the moisture that permeated the camera began to make it's way through the housing.

I sent the Fuji XP10 back to Fuji in hopes of getting it replaced, but received an invoice stating, "Water damage in camera not covered under warranty."

Um, no kidding.

The invoice also requested a payment of approximately $118 for an exchange of the same camera, with $100 of the cost going towards "labor"... Labor for what?!?! That's like buying a new XP10 with a little over a $20 discount over what I paid originally!

What's the point of marketing a "waterproof" camera, when it's not really waterproof and Fuji won't even honor the warranty to make things right? It would serve Fuji well to learn from other companies that unconditionally back the products that they sell, like Pelican Products and Strider Knives. Don't claim your product is waterproof, freezeproof, dustproof, and shockproof, unless you can back your product under warranty. I'm going to pass on Fuji's offer to exchange my camera for the $118 fee, which I can use towards an Olympus Tough camera! ;-)

As clean and compact as the Fuji XP10 appears, I will suggest to potential buyers of this camera to spend the extra money for the Olympus Tough series, which I am now considering. The Olympus Tough series may not be aesthetically pleasing as the Fuji XP10, but, like the AK-47 and Glock, the Olympus will probably work.

Buy the Fuji XP10 at your own risk.

I got this camera to replace my previous underwater / shockproof Canon D10, which died after about 8 months for no apparent reason. When I got the D10, it was the only low-cost point-and-shoot I could find for light underwater use, which made it good in its own way, but the electronics and sensor and etc. were already a couple of years out of date on the Canon, plus it was really big and bulky.

I don't do serious underwater work, but do want a camera I can take out in the rain and occasionally in a swimming pool or to the beach, without worrying about it. Also with small kids, the likelihood of a camera getting dropped is high, so a sturdy model is key.

This little Fujifilm advertises the same kind of water- and shock-proof characteristics as the Canon, but it's a whole lot more modern in its features, and a whole lot smaller, which is great. I haven't used it underwater yet, but for everyday use it takes good pictures.

A few issues I have with it. One, the cable connector is nonstandard. It should be mini-USB, like so many other things - I keep a mini USB hanging off my computer anyway, and if I lose a mini USB cable it's easy to find another, vs. the Fuji cable which doesn't match anything else I own.

Second, the mechanicals are not quite as polished as I'd like. The waterproof cover for the cable connector doesn't seat well - it's very hard to get in. And the battery cover has a strange hinge device that was confusing to figure out and I fear will not last well, since I have to open it frequently to extract the memory card, because the cable connector is nonstandard and hard to reseal.

All in all I would still recommend this camera, and I hope these few flaws get corrected in a future model.

I bought this camera for the waterproof feature, for beach and snorkeling photos. I took it to the beach and within 30 minutes it broke. The camera was never more than 2 feet underwater and it never hit anything. Water began leaking in the back display screen and the camera stopped functioning. Water also got in the front lens area and battery. Fortunately I was able to get the photos I had taken off the memory card.

Picture quality was really nice and the display screen size is large for easy viewing. But if you plan on taking it in the water I suggest buying a different camera. - Digital Camera - Finepix - Waterproof Camera - Weatherproof'

Make-up Brushes - makeup brush set, makeup brush

I just got it in the mail today. Overall, I am very impresed with the selection and quality. I mostly got this particular product because of the variety of eyeshadow brushes. The brushes are super soft, and seem very durable. The bigger brushes come with plastic 'brush guards'. My favorite brush is the foundation brush which feels amazing on my skin. Not only are the brushes soft, but they are very full. The only concern with the brushes is the small fan one-it seems a little less full than what I wanted. But, it does seem sturdy/durable. With regards to the case, it is amazing. It not only can fit the brushes that came with the case, it can hold other brushes as well. I have my large ELF powder brush, fan brush, a revlon dome brush, and several other brushes. The case even closes with extra brushes in it. This will be amazing for travel. The reason you can fit extra brushes is becuase the pockets for the smaller brushes can streatch just a little bit to hold two small burshes or just one smaller brushes. So far, I highly recommend, and will hopefully update after I have washed and used them for the first time. The kit has enough for a beginner while also providing room to grow. If you want additonal brushes, I highly recommend E.L.F. While the cheap price may throw you off, they are amazing. My favorite is ELF Eyeshadow "C" brush. 37 Inch Lcd - flat screen, 1080p lcd hdtv

I guess I'll break the ice and be the first to review this TV.

I searched for a decent 37" TV at a reasonable price and looked at several different brands. I almost bought a Vizio because of the price, but then I found this Toshiba for less than 600$. Here is what I can say about it so far:

This TV has a very good picture especially on the Directv hi-def channels. It has some interesting features that I have not yet used such as:

the ability to play picture files (like a giant digital photo frame, and

the ability to play MUSIC files, like a giant Mp3 player.

When I press the "mute" (to mute the sound)button, it will mute half way, then another press of the button mutes the sound completely.

It has a computer terminal for connecting a PC.

It has 4 HDMI inputs.

The reason I gave this TV 4 stars is the viewing angles--like most LCDs, you need to sit almost directly in front of the screen. If you try and watch it too far off to one side, the colors get a bit washed out.

For an auxillary TV, this one fits the bill. My home theatre TV is a 50" plasma, and that TV blows this one away. But if you just want a fairly large TV for everyday watching and not the whole "home theatre" experience, you will be pleased with this unit. I think Toshiba is a decent brand and most of the reviews on other Toshiba models have been pretty good. Toshiba 37E200U 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV (Black Gloss)

I just purchased this TV to replace my Samsung 27" tube HDTV which was an absolute beast (147 lbs!). This TV is WONDERFUL! It's the 3rd Toshiba LCD in my house (also have a 32" in my bedroom and a 19" in the home office). The picture is crystal clear with rich, bright, vibrant colors. I watch a lot of sports and play video games on this TV and it performs great for both. There aren't noticeable tracers when watching fast action. I wish it had a regular a/v sound output (red & white), but it only offers a digital audio output which doesn't work w/ my out-dated receiver (not the TV's fault). I compared this side-by-side to LG's similarly priced 37" model and it blew the LG away. The picture was brighter, clearer, and lost less quality at an angle. I've noticed some reviews that are critical of the TV's sound, but I'm not having any issues with it. I'm sure it doesn't compare to the sound quality of a home theatre system, but it isn't any worse than any other TV I've owned. If you're looking to get the most bang for your buck on a moderately priced lcd TV, this is the one.

I'll keep this one short and sweet. Ive had this TV for several weeks now, and couldn't be happier.

The picture is awesome. Our other TV is a Samsung 40 inch, which is another highly rated LCD, and I made my own comparison by watching a Stanley Cup Hockey game on both TV's and could not tell any difference. A Hockey game broadcast in HD is a very good test for your TV's clarity, and this Toshiba did not disappoint.

The dynamic aspect ratio works great.

The fact that Toshiba doesn't publish the contrast ratio should not be a deterrent for getting this TV. Contrast ratio is a marketing gimmick, and the determination should be that if you look at the picture, and it looks great to your eyes, who cares what the actual contrast ratio is? The blacks look black, and the whites look white, and there isn't much more to worry about.

Good price for a great TV!

I took ownership of this HD TV yesterday and all I have to say is this thing is great!

* easy to setup

* easy to program

* picture quality is incredible

* paid $483 USD for it and it's worth every penny

* More HDMI slots than devices to hook up to it

* setup the XBOX 360 on the port on the side panel with ease

This HD TV has to be comparable to a Samsung, with a much lower price point. I strongly recommend this HD TV.

Let first comment on the TV...its fantastic! Great picture in either standard or high def. The sound is great as well. I replaced a 4 year old 32in Westinghouse and this just blows it away. Absolutely no complaints about the TV.

Now, as far as shipping goes...I can't believe Amazon uses these people. The company is called Ceva Logistics. These people were the most unprofessional individuals I have ever delt with (when it comes to shipping companies). I see my package is due to be delivered on the 4th...ok sounds good. It didn't come. Fine, I now the estimates are usually just that...an estimate. So I check the status and I see that the package is at the destination location (about 7 miles from where I live). So, i figure it would come the next day (friday). Well, I'm at work and i get a call asking if I want to come pick up my TV from the distribution center...what?!? I ordered it online and wanted it delivered. That is what Amazon is all about...ordering from your computer to your door. Neither me nor my wife have cars (we rely on public transit and bikes) so picking it up was not an option. They tell me that since I can't pick it up myself that I'll have to wait until monday and schedule a delivery appointment....when asked why they couldn't just deliver it because my wife would be home they got an attitude and said "thats not how we do things". So I asked to schedule an appointment and he told me to call back monday....seriously, the TV had been there now for 2 days! So Monday rolls around and I call to make and appointment and they give me a four hour window between 10-2pm. So when does my TV get delivered? 2:45. I have never had so much trouble getting a package in my life....I hope Amazon stops using these people! - 1080p Lcd Hdtv - Flat Screen - 120hz - Toshiba'
