Kids Camera - disney, kids camera

I originally thought this camera was ok (see my original review below), but now the camera just sucks the life of every battery I put in it and therefore the camera will erase any pictures that are saved in it. I guess you get what you pay for, but I'm in the process of trying to return this item to the manufacture (because it's past the 30 day amazon.com return time limit apparently).

Update:

There really is not much support for this either. I can't return it. They say to make sure you but new batteries in the camera and immediately upload any pictures so you don't lose them. I would spend a little extra and get a kids digital camera that has a preview screen and a manufacture that has decent customer support.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

This camera is by no means a great camera that takes quality digital pictures and has fancy settings... or even a viewing screen BUT for the price, I think you are getting what you pay for. I felt this would be a good introductory camera for a child who's never really used a camera before. I wasn't ready to spend $60-$100 on a kid's camera yet so I chose this one. It will, at the very least, teach her the basics of how to take a picture (like keeping the camera still when pushing the button - lol). The pictures come out ok if the photographer keeps still while taking it. We have not used the software in depth yet, so I'll have to update the review after we try that out... but initially - it is easy to install and seems to be pretty user friendly. Our first upload of pics from the camera to the computer was successful and simple to do.

If you are looking for a camera that takes high MP quality photos do not buy this camera because you won't get that. Overall, I feel it is an excellent less expensive option for a young child with no camera experience (and that may break the thing within a few months). Digital Blue Disney Pix Micro Camera Creativity Kit - Toy Story 3

Bought this as a gift for my nephew and it was about half the size of a regular digital camera. It is a childrens camera so I would expect it to be at least the same size of a regular digital camera. I though the picures shown made the camera look like a regular size, but I did like that the cords to connect to the computer came with it which I knew my sister didn't have.

Ok toy but the picture quality is really poor. It could be a lot better but I guess it creates the illusion to my son that he is actually taking a picture. It serves its purpose as he has left my camera alone.

We bought 2 of these cameras for our sons. I can't believe this is something Disney allows to put their name on. The pics come out completely black. There is nothing to fix this unless you were standing on the sun. We're hoping to get our money back. WE got these as a gift and the person who bought them didn't know better. You are better off, for $20, getting a real camera you can put your own memory card in and one that comes with a screen you can review your pics. Unless your a professional, who looks through a camera hole anymore?

Very cute product but not what we expected. I was looking for a digital camera for my 5 year old to start out with but there is no flash on it so the pictures come out horrible if you are inside. Plus there is no way for you to know when the picture is being taken so my son doesn't understand that you have to wait for it to take. If I knew that this was just a regular camera and not a digital, I wouldn't have purchased it.

I would not recommend this camera. It is extremely small like a mini camera. The picture on Amazon was very deceiving. The camera does not have a screen to view the photo that was taken. You have to connect the camera to your computer with the USB wire (included) to view the photos. After doing so and downloading the software to view the photos, the photos were horrible quality. I would have returned the camera but the packaging had already been thrown out. Not worth $25. - Kids Camera - Toy Story - Disney'

Dremel Attachment

This thing is cool! It turns your kirby into a dremel tool! I haven't actually compared numbers but I imagine the kirby uses a lot more electricity than a dremel, so it's probably not the most practical thing (if you already have a dremel), but I've used it for a couple small things that I was too lazy to go downstairs to get my dremel tool for. It works great! Kirby Handi-Butler NEW Handy Butler Vacuum Attachment'

Best Photo Paper - canon paper, photo paper

I have used HP Glossy Paper for Years, but with a new Canon printer, I decided to try the Canon Glossy Photo Paper in 8x10 format. The colors are even a little more "intense" than the Hewlitt Packard paper, but it truly should be left to dry for 24 hours before you frame it. It remains tacky for at least 12 hours, and with the cost of INK (not the paper which was reasonable), I wasn't taking any chances.

Further, the thought did cross my mind that the brilliance of the colors may be another way for Canon to get you to use more ink. Therefore, I tried several where I did not check "Vivid" in the color choices, and the results were more than acceptable.

Which would I use? Although HP costs a bit more, overall I like their paper better because drying time is less than 45 minutes. Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II, 8 x 10 Inches, 20 Sheets (2311B025)

i have been very impressed with the quality of the paper. although my hp printer has a hard time feeding in the paper, the resulting images dont smear and they look very nice. i am even more impressed because today i made copies of the prints at kinkos today, and in comparison, i got 2x the quality on 25% of the price.

I have a Canon Pixma MP500, and a laser jet; the Canon for color, the jet for text. I use mostly a Plus Glossy 4x6 paper and the rendition of scenery as well as TrueBAsic-generated images amazes me each time with their faithful reproduction.

When ordering this paper be sure that your printer will support it. I have a Canon i9100 and i9900 and it will not print borderless 8X10 prints on these printers. When I contacted Canon, they danced around the issue and offered me a 10% discount on a new printer, which isn't what I wanted. I don't see why they can't update the printer driver to accomodate this new type of paper. - Canon Paper - Photography - Photo Paper - Photo Quality Paper'

Small Tripod - small tripod, travel tripod

I just received this little gem a few days ago and I could not be more impressed. I have a couple of table tops and they are just fine IF you are not using a zoom lens, and just need something super compact to toss in the pocket of your camera bag. I needed something that I could use with a heavy, 72mm zoom, and feel comfortable that it would be supported.

After I did some online research, the Vanguard VS-82 was what I came up with, and I figured it was worth a try.

It is like a little tank! The legs are super sturdy and I love the way the large, ridged feet angle down from the legs to give ultimate support for the unit. In my opinion, this is very well made.

You can expand the legs for additional sturdiness and height. The 'neck' also gives additional height and can be adjusted to exactly the extent that is perfect for any given situation.

It does not have a quick-release shoe, but that didn't matter one whit to me. I am happy that my full-size tripod DOES have that feature but, for a table top, it is not necessary for my use although I feel it should be mentioned.

If you are looking for a table top tripod that will not only support your camera, but support a heavy lens (I believe it says it supports up to 5.5lbs), and be nearly impossible to knock over or slide...this might just be the one for you. Vanguard VS-82 Table Top Digital Camera Tripod

This is a great little tripod. I have used it for about 3 months with a Bushnell 20 x 50 small spotting scope. It is stable, sturdy, and well made - even more than I expected on ordering. I have also mounted a 20-60 x 80 Nikon spotter just to see if it would hold it without problem. It does. For those who want a small, inexpensive tripod for table top use, this could be the bargain. Recommended.

I needed a small stabile platform to place my camera on to take photos of my daughter's wedding. I didn't want a large tripod because I didn't want the pictures that the hired photographer and others to include a tripod, which I think would really look bad. The location of the ceremony allowed the use of a nearby flat surface to put the tripod and camera on. I aimed the camera at where the bride and groom would say their vows. I used the remote control for my camera to take the photos. This was an outdoor wedding next to the ocean. There was a stiff breeze that day. After retrieving the camera and tripod I looked at the photos hoping the wind did not move the camera during the ceremony. All of the pictures were dead on. Looking closely at the edge of the photos at the background details I could tell the camera never moved. This tripod is handy. Its small size made it easy to grab with the camera attached. Things are rushed at times during a wedding. I had to grab the camera and tripod and still make it to the recieving line. I made it just in time. Had I used a larger tripod I would have spent more time collapsing the unit for travel. Well built? Yes. The joints are all well fitted. The leg extentions slide easily and when tightened they are rigid. The pan and tilt are smooth and lock down tight without cranking on the knobs. This is a great little tripod. The leg length adjustments allow for use on uneven surfaces. There is no bubble level on the unit to allow you to set the camera perfectly level. This didn't matter to me. I can look through the viewfinder and use something like a window sill (These are usually level) to level my camera shot. By making the ends of the horizontally level (window sill) item an equal distance from the bottom edge of the viewfinder image i can usually count on the photos to be level.

It's a very good table tripode, you can put on it a big camera like Nikon D300 with big lens (one pound more) and it's very stable. Leg's are extendible. I don't like you cant put the camera in vertical position, even than it's a good product.

I loved this tripod when I first got it. But after just a short period, I can't get it to hold my camera in place; it falls over. I have tightened it as much as I can, to no avail.

Am I the only one who has had this problem?

This is a fine little tripod. It is well designed and sturdy.

I did return it because it wouldn't fit in my new Caselogic SLRC-202 Medium SLR Camera Bag (Black). The bag arrived after the tripod. I then purchased the Slik Mini Pro V Table-Top Tripod with Pan Head which is equally well built and it fit in the bag (in case anybody should care).

I needed a small tripod for my Nikon and was having trouble finding one that would support the camera - most small tripods seem to be built for point & shoot cameras. This one works very well and transports easily. Set up is very quick. Only drawback for me is that there is limited mobility as far as setting the camera angle.

I bought this for my avchd camera in places where a large tripod just would not go (cruise ship) and it worked perfectly. The attention to design detail here is great:

1 - feet are beveled to keep it level on a flat surface

2 - all 3 legs extend (amazing in a tripod so small)

3 - sturdy - enough to hold much more weight

4 - lens allignment stud compresses when used with non-camera gear like audio systems

5 - Best for last - small enough to get onboard a flight with a TSA agent soing through your bag of gear. I had another small tripod like this that folded 3 different sized legs together - that one looked like a gun in x-ray and got my bag open every time - with this, all legs are equal and it looks like a tripod - goes through xray without a hitch.

Would I change anything? no. It's fine the way it is. I even used it to secure my marantz PMD-661 recorder on a helicopter flight with the seatbelt of the next seat over. The PMD-661 has a tripod mount underneath and with this I made a secure position that allowed me to see the vu meters during flight. - Mini Tripod - Photography - Small Tripod - Travel Tripod'

Portable Speakers - iphone speakers, iphone dock

I had agonized over the ideal dock for my iPod Touch with the stipulations that it had to be a reasonable size (I've lost some interest in big component systems.), and it would need at least an FM radio. While I've wanted to try HD radio, my understanding of availability in my area was that it could be if-y. So, good FM access would be fine. It seems like a small thing, but I'm legally blind and don't drive, so casual access to something like a car radio is fairly rare for me. My first, and most familiar, choice was a product that I had some familiarity with - the VERS system, with newer models incorporating a highly visible FM tuner. I had eventually tired of shipping delays for this device and gone to Best Buy to find the Sony.

Not only did the Sony dock have better sound than the VERS that I once owned, it was smaller, stylish and has the best receiving FM tuner that I've ever found in a portable or non-portable device. I've tended to live in older homes with older wiring and cloth wrapped interference bleeding electrical systems. The reception on the Sony dock is unlike any that I've ever owned, even with the convenient telescoping antenna in the stowed position. And the sound is rich and vibrant - certainly comparable to the similar Bose device that sports no FM tuner at twice the price.

The controls at the top of the dock are easily accessed and perform all of the functions found on the remote. As I noted above, I'm legally blind, but depend just enough on the tiny amount of eyesight that I do have to make use of digital displays. This one, unfortunately, and while not a deal-breaker, is terrible. It could be larger, though it's not unreasonably small. The problem is that it's abysmally dim - of almost no use to me. If this was an adjustable - and it wouldn't have hurt if it was larger - the dock would have received 5 stars from me.

In all, the RDP-XF100iP dock is not just a fine dock that does what I'd expect a dock to do, but is a nicely put together package that represents Sony quality first represented for me in my first Trinitron to my latest HD television. Highly recommended. Sony RDP-XF100IP Portable iPod Docking Station

I have an Ipod touch 3rd generation 32mb. I have been looking at several docking stations and the cheap ones sounded like cheap ones and the expensive ones (Bose) sound awesome but are 4 to 5 times the cost ($399). The Sony came out just recently and it definitely sounds just as good as the Bose and is at least $150 less expensive. The bass is full and deep and the highs are crystal clear even at high volumes. Besides a cheaper price, another bonus this has over the Bose is the FM tuner, which the Bose lacks. It is portable and the battery can easily run 6-7 hours straight. Bottom line is if you are willing to spend a little more for the Sony over the cheaper ones, you will not be disappointed!

I compared this radio to the one from Bose that lists for $399 at Best Buy. I wanted a unit that had an internal rechargeable battery, remote, and the ability to have high volume without distortion. The Sony delivers on all three for $150 less. Plus, the Sony has a fm radio built in and the rechargeable battery can be replaced unlike the Bose.

I purchased the Sony RDP-XF100IP a couple of weeks ago and I really put it to the test !!!! I compared it along side of my Bose SoundDock Portable! I had read so many good things about the Sony RDP-XF100IP, and some even dared to compare it to the more costly Bose SoundDock Portable.

So how does the Sony RDP-XF100IP sound ? It sounds really good and for the money and the size of the unit it sounds great! When I was in "Best Buy" I listened to the Logitech s715i and I compared it to the Sony RDP-XF100IP, the Sony won hands down, the Logitech s715i sounded a little tiny and weak compared it to the Sony RDP-XF100IP !

But still I can say that the Logitech s715i sounds better than any portable speaker it's size that I have ever heard ! As far as the Logitech s715i goes I would never buy that unit because when it is ran by battery power it cuts the bass in half and it also cuts the volume down, to me that is a deal breaker, but if the Logitech s715i gave me a choice to turn off the battery saver mode, I would buy it in a heartbeat !

I hate the fact that when you run some units by battery they automatically go into battery saver mode and then they cut the bass and volume way down "Harman Kardon's Go + Play" does the same thing and I hate it !

I used my mp3 player, playing the same songs, when I compared the Sony RDP-XF100IP sound to the Bose, I noticed at first that the Sony,s mid-range sounded a little colored, you might say a little dark or bass heavy, while the Bose sounded perfect. After I adjusted my mp3 player and removed some of the bass, the Sony sounded almost as good as the Bose, and with some songs just as good if not better. But I must say over all I think the Bose sounded just a little bit better !

But for half the price I think Sony did a really good job!

I also compared the over all volume of each speaker !

This is where Bose beats the Sony hands down !!!!

When I was indoors the Sony played reasonably loud but when I went outdoors around a lot of traffic, and playing the Sony at "Full Volume", the Sony got drowned out!!!

For some reason the Sony can't play really loud !

On the other hand the Bose can scream,I have taken my Bose around heavy traffic many times with no problem what so ever!

Matter of fact the Bose gets so loud until I'm afraid I might get in trouble for disturbing the peace !

If 10 was the loudest volume the Bose could play at , I would say in comparison, the Sony plays at about 6 1/2 to 7 !

Now lets talk about the Rechargeable lithium-ion Battery's !

The Sony comes with a very small Battery that fits inside of the unit, on the other hand the Bose has a very large Battery that fits on the back of the unit!

The Sony battery lasted less than 2 hours while playing at a high volume for the Sony !

On the other hand I have played the Bose for 5 and six hours "with battery power left over" at a louder volume than I played the Sony at for less than 2 hours!!!!

The Bose battery is far superior to the Sony's !!!!!!

The comparatively low volume and the weak battery life of the Sony was a deal breaker for me, so I returned the Sony !

But if you can put up with the volume of the Sony and the weak battery life you could save $200 !

You have to decide for yourself !

Now lets talk about the Bose a little more , I have owned the Bose SoundDock Portable for about a year now and it is without a doubt the best sounding portable speaker for it's size !!!!! There are a few larger portable speakers that sound a little bit better than the Bose when ran by AC ! To name a few that may sound a little better, Harman Kardon's Go + Play, Kicker iK501, Altec Lansing iMT800, Bowers & Wilkins'Zeppelin, iPod Hi-Fi, Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 !

What do all of those speakers have in common? They are all much larger than the Bose, about twice as large!!!! None of them run on a long lasting Rechargeable lithium-ion Battery like the Bose does !

Bottom line is Bose is the Best "Pound per Pound" battery powered portable speaker system for it's size !!!! I have the Harman Kardon's Go + Play, I had the Altec Lansing inMotion iM7,the Sony RDP-XF100IP, plus I have many others and I can't find a small "around 5.2 pounds" speaker system for any price that beats the Bose !!!

I don't want to carry around a unit that is larger or heaver than the Bose SoundDock Portable, so if you think you know of a "Better" Battery Powered Portable Speaker System that weighs around the same or less than the Bose with the battery included, please let me know, I don't think one exists at this time ! - Ipod Dock - Iphone Speakers - Iphone Dock - Ipod Speakers'

Photography - flip video, hd camcorder

I bought this specifically to record band rehearsals and performances. I think I might take it back because it is missing a couple of essential features, although it is quite easy to use and has surprisingly good audio quality.

When I started looking for a handheld camcorder to record music rehearsals and performances, I quickly narrowed down the field to the Sony Bloggie, the Zoom Q3 and the Zoom Q3 HD because of their listed attributes and the great reviews on these products. The Zoom Q3 was the front runner as far as audio quality was concerned (according to reviewers) but was not 1080p. The Bloggie was 1080p, but didn't have the audio rep of the Zoom. The Zoom Q3 HD had both. I finally settled on the Sony Bloggie because the Zoom Q3 HD was a little out of my price range, and because I could find it locally and I needed it ASAP.

So here's the review:

The Bloggie came in a slick little box which can also be used as a carrying case for all the paraphernalia (USB cable, carrying cord, manuals.) The device is also very smooth and slick looking, and feels substantial in your hand. The first thing you need to do before using it is plug it in to your computer. Editing software will then be downloaded into your computer automatically. (The editor is very primitive, but does the job for basic applications.) The instruction manual doesn't really tell you much--- it is one thick card, and doesn't help much at all! You kind of have to figure out how the thing works on your own. Luckily, it is pretty straightforward. Press the red button to record!

The battery came charged out of the box, which was nice. It is recharged through the USB, so you don't ever need to buy batteries.

I tried a quick little vid in my bedroom and uploaded it to my harddrive with no problem. According to the specs, there is an internal flash drive (which can't be upgraded) which allows 2 hours of recording in 1080p. This seemed to me to be a little low for what I would need it for (band rehearsals,) but close enough. I erased the test vid from the memory, and went off to rehearsal.

Since I didn't buy the optional stand, I sort of balanced the thing between two books and pressed record. It seemed to be working fine (it has a built-in video screen), so we started rehearsal. About two hours later we quit, and I went home, all excited to download the vid and take a listen to what we had done.

After plugging the camera into my laptop and opening the editing software, I selected "import." A couple of minutes later, the file had finished, and (with great anticipation!) I pressed play to watch it. Listening to the video with headphones, I was surprised at the sound quality for such a tiny camera with no external mike! The video was pretty good, too, although that wasn't my main concern. The audio quality was my priority, and the Bloggie seemed to pass that test.

Unfortunately, at that moment, I noticed that the video was only 29 minutes long! Where the heck was the other hour and a half of rehearsal? I had no idea! Gone into the ether! I never touched the camera once I set it up, but for some reason the thing quit recording at 29 minutes! Gah! What a waste!!!! I was sick. I read the (non)manual, but could find nothing about this issue.

I also realized that we had played for about 2 and half hours, so even if the camera had worked, I would have missed the last half hour because of the lack of memory.

After I got home I went on line to do some research. At some camera website with the Bloggie specs and review, in the very last footnote at the bottom of the page, it said "movie recording is limited to 29 minute segments."

GAHHH!!!! Really, Sony? Really??? Even though there is still an hour and half of memory left? REALLY???!?!!

So, what that means essentially is that if I want to record one of our shows, I have to set up the camera, then a half hour later leave the stage to press "record" again? Then a half hour later, leave the stage AGAIN to press record AGAIN?

Epic fail.

The second problem I have with the Bloggie is that there is no way to expand the memory capabilities. With the Zoom you can upgrade your memory to be able to record up to 16 hours of video! With the Bloggie, you are stuck with two hours, but in 29 minute segments.

So here is my final summary:

PROS:

Surprisingly good audio quality for such a small camera.

Good video quality at 1080p.

Simple to use.

CONS:

Unfathomable 29 minute limit on videos.

Non-expandable memory.

Poor and useless tech manual.

For my needs, the Bloggie doesn't quite cut it. However, the audio quality is very good. Still, I think I will be forced to return this device.

I'm sad!

UPDATE AUGUST 16, 2011

I've been listening repeatedly to the audio on the recording that I made with this product, and the more I listen to it and compare it to the audio I have heard online of the ZOOM Q3, the more that I like the sound from the Bloggie. I am very torn at this point on whether I am going to return the Bloggie. The sound this little camera captures is really good! I will update again as I spend some more time with it and record some more with it. I also found that, according to Sony, the reason the camera shuts off at 29 minutes is because of heating issues. Still an epic fail, though.

UPDATE AUGUST 17 2011

OK, this camera has got to go! I tried using it a second time at one of our rehearsals. This time it only got through 20 minutes before shutting itself off (must have overheated.) I tried to start it again, but it just wouldn't record again. I had to wait over 20 minutes for it to cool down before it would begin recording again. Even then, it only lasted another 13 minutes before shutting itself off again, this time supposedly for no battery charge--- even though it was fully charged when I started. All of these things are entirely unacceptable. It is really sad, because the 33 minutes of video I did manage to get have really great, lifelike sound. The sound is good! If only the rest of the camera worked as well.... *sigh* Sony Bloggie Camera with 360 degree Lens Attachment (Black) - Flip Ultra Hd - Flip Video - Hd Camcorder - High Definition'

Excellent Product - dado blade, dado

Let me start off by saying that I have never used a high end Forrest or Freud Dado set but this is by far the best dado I have ever used; in comparing price I can't imagine the others are twice as nice. Excellent outer blades and six tooth chippers really gives you a smooth operation with a nice flat dado cut. I tried it on a number of veneers as an experiment and it never split or separated the outer layer, I am very happy with this set. I would actually give it 4.5 stars, it misses all five because of the "case". It is just a cardboard box; that will probably get damaged in shipping. I built a case and now have a high end dado set for half the price of the better known names. Oshlun SDS-0842 8-Inch 42-tooth Stack Dado Set with 5/8-Inch Arbor

I've only used this set a few times but am very impressed with how clean it cuts. Nice flat cuts. Very well packaged though I would have liked to see it in a better built box. But considering the cost versus the really expensive sets, this is a very good buy. The blades are packaged with styrofoam between each blade. I am a cabinet maker by trade and if these last near as long as my expensive set did I'll be happy. The directions are very well done as to what chippers and shims to use for each size of cut. I may look into their other blades. This is a very good buy.

For 50 years I have endured the less then satisfactory results from my Sears adjustable dado- not that it didn't performed as advertised.

This Oshlun is like from heaven. All my dado's are letter perfect.

That plus the rapid delivery from Amazon satisfies all my needs.

I had been indecisive on which Dado stack would replace the lousy Skil (rebranded Vermont American) High Speed Steel set. I had to stick with a 6" set to go with my Ryobi BT3100-1 table saw. It was going to be either the Freud SD206, or the Oshlun SDS-0630. It came down to personal recommendation from a local woodworking club, and price.

I can honestly say, the Oshlun SDS0630, is about as close as you can get to Dado stack perfection while still holding price within the realm of reasonable cost...

Fine width adjustments with 1/16", and 1/32" chippers, combined with the nice selection of shims make fine tuning your dado to the funny sheet goods sizes easy as can be. And if you aren't sure how to set it up and adjust it, Oshlun includes a fairly straight forward instruction sheet.

The blades are clearly marked as to direction and proper position to insure foolproof installation. The chippers are clearly marked for thickness, as well as rotational direction.

This set leaves laser perfect smooth cuts, and bottoms in everything I have thrown at it, from MDF, Melamine board, Baltic Birch plywood, white oak, pine ply, solid pine etc...

The objection otherwise mentioned here to the fact that this ships in a cardboard box is not misplaced, but honestly, what we are reviewing here is the Dado set, not the storage box. If you want a solid storage case, build it. You are a woodworker right? Yes a nice case would have been a good addition, but at this price point I think the manufacturer would have had to cut back on the quality of the blades to fit a proper case in the budget. Not a good trade off. Heck, use the Dado stack to build your storage case for the dado stack! This thing honestly makes cutting dadoes precise, accurate, fast, and even somewhat fun...

I have not had this blade set long enough to give a fair assessment of long term durability, but from the way this thing is built, I do not expect there to be any problems with it holding up well.

Oshlun dado set is of excellent quality, perfectly balanced

for cero vibrations and neat cuts. The set is very easy to install and use.

Furthermore, Oshlun customer service is trully the best you can get. Recently I dropped one of the blades over

hard metal and damaged a couple teeth,... wrote to customer service about it

and immeditely got a new replacement blade. I am very impressed and pleased with the Oslum service and

very reliable products. That is why I am giving Oshlum much more than five stars.

I am using this dado set on a 10" Delta Contractor's saw. The dadoes I have cut are very smooth in the bottom and on the sides. The way the teeth are set on the outside blades leaves a small "v" groove on each side of the dado at the bottom. This seems to help prevent tear out. I am using this set mostly in plywood so the edging covers these tiny groves. I don't think they would be objectionable in solid wood either. Of course a blind dado will cure that if it's a problem. The extra teeth on the chippers seems to account for the smooth cuts. I would recommend this blade to any serious hobby woodworker. I'm not sure how it would hold up in a commercial shop setting but a great set for the home shop.

Sure, the cardboard box is cheesy, but that's not why I bought this set. I'm making a chest that requires hundreds of dado cuts. I'm an intermediate woodworker and this dado set helped make quick work of it. The only issue I've had is some tearout when cutting cross-grain dado cuts in the edge of 3/4 inch oak, but I suspect this might have been an issue with any dado or maybe with my feed rate. Maybe finer teeth would help, I don't know... but that might compromise other performance. It seems very easy to get the exact cut width I want and the set looks like it will be very durable.

Oshlun SDS-0842 blade set arrived on schedule in excellent condition. No chips in carbide teeth. Like many I have a 25 yr. old set of Sears "Craftsman" stacked blades. (There is absolutely no comparison to the new set.) I have used the new set on several projects and once set up they work just as advertised. I'm sort of hobby/pro because I do sell most of my work and I can't think of any reason to spending any extra money on dado blades. Highly recommend this set if you're looking to buy. - Dado Set - Dado Blade - Dado Blade Set - Dado'

Programmable Timer Switch - programmable timer switch

I bought this about 6 months ago and attached it to a table lamp in the living room with a 14 Watt CFL bulb. Twice during this period it lost the settings and had to be reset. Finally it just died. Very disappointing. GE 15089 7-Day Plug-In Digital Timer

I bought two of these timers for our screen porch lights. The directions for setting the timers were a little confusing to me, but once I figured it out, they work like a charm. Come on and off within 1 minute of each other.

This item works fine once you figure out how to program. Not particularly intuitive. Don't lose the manual or you'll never figure it out.

Mine died after about a year of continuous use. It appears that the battery died. There are weird screws on the case (head shaped like a "Y"), so you can't open it to see if you can replace the battery. Just threw it out. Seems like quite a waste.

Wouldn't buy one again.

After only a year of service, this timer did an accurate impression of an IED. The bang was quite loud and disconcerting. I discovered there is a battery inside the case, and apparently Chinese batteries (this whole product is made in China, thanks GE!) are downright un-American and want to go on a Jihad and tried to burn my house down. How this product could be sold as a safe device is beyond me. Time to go back to the old fashioned dial models...

Do NOT buy this timer unless you have good home owners insurance!

I've had one of these operating a CFL light in our home for the past week, and it works great..no flickering or buzzing of the CFL (this timer is CFL compatible, unlike the older mechanical style timers). The unit is small, quiet (no clicking of whirring of the gears), easily programmed and is energy efficient itself (draws less than 1 watt, vs 3-4 watts for the traditional mechanical timers) It has a manual override button, which is handy if you need to turn something on outside of its programmed schedule. It also has a variety of programming options (single day, weekday/weekend programing, every other day, random, countdown and some I don't remember). If the power shuts off, it has an internal battery so that you don't have to reprogram it. It claims to have a daylight savings offset, but I haven't used that yet.

I'm giving it a four rating vs a five because the instruction sheet that comes with the unit has almost unreadable small print and useless figures. In addition, the manual override feature on this timer requires that you must also manually turn it off and put the unit back into auto (timer) mode (with the mechanical timer units, you can manually override, but the units automatically go back into timer mode after 30-60 minutes.. a nice feature).

We use timers to control many of the lights and a hot water circulating pump in our house to save energy, but I was surprised to discover that the old mechanical timers themselves draw 3-4 watts. I cannot detect the power draw of this device using a Kil-A-Watt unit. With the high utility rates in our area (southern California), I estimate that it will take about 18 mos for one of these units to pay for itself when used to replace a mechanical timer. Not bad for something that is superior in just about every way. - Programmable Timer Switch'

Kindle Devices - craptacular, ebook

There are great. They are durable enough to wear and work in and still look dressy. I do recommend to order a size up because they are very clingy. But overall and excellent product and good for the price. Dickies Womens Plus Size Relaxed Straight Stretch Twill Pant, Black, 22 Regular

The vendor sent this well within the timeframe and in fine condition. No complaints. Bravo in fact.

The pants are classic dickies. They fit ok, a bit long in the leg for me (size 14 and 5 foot 9") so I will have to hem the pants.

In fairness I have to wait till I hem the pants for getting the fit correct, but for now, they are "ok" The color runs to a yellowish sand. For those whose skin color works with that color it will be fine. It tends to make my skin look a bit sallow not not the best for me.

I remain a fan of the metro dockers which fit me perfectly and look a bit more dressy, but all in all, fine pair of pants. More casual than I expected in look but fine.

This is my first time purchasing a pair of these pants. Most pants (even in tall sizes) are too short or fit wrong in all the wrong places. I needed a comfortable pair for work (will invest in more colors in the future. I must say that they are quite comfortable and fit loose enough (not to loosely) where I don't look like I'm going to the club while at work. :) I recommend this to any tall or curvy women out there.

With pants it is hard to judge quality in a short time-span. One needs to see how they do over time. The crotch is a little short for my liking, but still a comfortable fit. The one big issue I had was, I am on the shorter side, and these are regular length, so I knew I would have to hem them. Usually regular length requires a 1 or 2 inch hem...these requires a 4 inch hem, totally crazy!

So, if you normally wear regular length be prepared to hem these. - Kindle Devices - Ebook - E-reader - Craptacular'

Arch Supports - back pain, arch supports

I "sprained" my lower back really bad about a month ago. I went to the dr. and got the usual round of muscle relaxers and pain pills which were helping a lot but every time I would have to do some yard work it would hurt again. I saw a commercial for these and thought I'd try them. I can't believe the difference it makes. Less than a week after the original injury I could mow my yard without any pain at all. I have tested it by doing things with and without them in my shoes and it is really working to emliminate the pain. I'm not an expert on back pain or remedies for it but these have really helped me. Dr Scholl's Back Pain Relief Orthotics, Women's Sizes 6-10 (Pack of 2)

I walk 6-8 miles per day with my little dog. Since I have extremely narrow heels, I have a terrible time finding shoes that fit.

The only ones I've found that fit me without slipping in the heel are Nike 'fashion' sneakers. The problem is that there is basically no support or cushioning in them and after a couple of miles, my feet and back would ache.

I discovered these insoles at Target and bought more here because the price is better & there's no sales tax.

I like the fact that they are 'cut to fit'. The orthotics that can't be cut don't extend all the way to the end of the shoe and I end up with blisters on the balls of my feet from them.

These last about 4 months if walking daily in them.

As a teacher, I stand all day long. It would be nice if I could wear good shoes with adequate support for the job, but I have to look professional, so dressy flats are the best I can get. On top of all of the standing, I am constantly bending over to help students or picking up crates of heavy papers.

When I injured my back recently, I was searching for something that would support my feet better, and I found these orthotics. On the first day, I could feel the difference. Usually, my mid-back was burning by noon, but when I wear these, I go home feeling great with no pain.

Although I don't think that these take the place of proper bending at the knees or chiropractic care, they are a miracle addition to proper back-treatment methods, and I would highly recommend them. - Arch Supports - Arch Support - Insoles - Back Pain'

Bathroom Sink Faucets

I ordered 2 of these faucets for my Master bedroom remodel. The faucets are beautiful, very solid, and before packaged in separate boxes, they were placed in cloth bags to prevent scratching. One of the faucets, however, had a scratch on it. Customer service was exceptional!! My email was responded to within hours and I had a new one in the mail to me the next day, which was in perfect condition. I would definitely order from them again!! You won't find a better price for the quality of the faucet. Contemprary Single Handle Waterfall Bathroom Vanity Faucet, Chrome

Pros:Heavy well made faucet.Looks good.Works good.reasonable priceCons:No instructions. There was an instruction booklet but it was about other faucets by this manufacturer. No instructions on this faucet. The booklet says the the faucet is guaranteed. It doesn't say for how long it is guaranteed or where to get service. No address and no telephone number.I was surprised how noisy it is.Undersink metal bracket is not well designed. Too small and too thin. Have to be careful when tightening down faucet so that the bracket will not buckle through sink faucet hole. Also the nuts rub up against water supply hoses and bracket gets caught on the hoses and has to be tweaked when tightening the nuts.Hoses should have been for 3/8 fittings. Most home installations have 3/8 angle stop. Had to purchase new angle stops for this faucet.Faucet only. No drain, etc included.SEPTEMBER 22 REVIEW UPDATE: Vendor, WTEvergreen LLC - Amazon Marketplace, contacted me and addressed all my concerns with me and the manufacturer. In the future, specific instruction booklet will be included, adapters will be supplied to fit 3/8 angle stop, etc, etc. I HAVE now CHANGED TO FIVE STARS. Very impressed with their customer service and I would have no hesitation to order from them in the future.

First of all, I'm a french canadian, so my english might not be perfect. But you should understand my comments! :-)

Very nice faucet. I really like the fact that this model is really different than what you would usualy see in a bathroom. And the price... So cheap!

Keep in mind the base is very wide (larger and deeper than what it appears to be on the pictures). This faucet would not fit every sink. We had to switch the faucets from downstair with the one upstair because we have a sink like this one ([...]) and the base of the new faucet was too big.

Doesn't come with a pop-up drain, so buy one.

Shipping was fast and the packaging was ok.

I loved this faucets, I buy two of them and when they arrive I was surprise! It was bigger and better than I suppose !

I received itvery fast and I am very glad with the product!

I really recommend this faucet! It is gorgeous !

Bought this for our masterbath remodel project. This is outstanding! Very nice quality and looks great on our new granite countertops. Would recommend to anyone looking for something different with flair.'

Leather Banded - leather banded, lightweight

This is a very nice looking watch, with a surprisingly thin case (only 5mm!), but I only got to enjoy wearing it for a few months before the crystal spontaneously cracked in my dresser drawer one night. When my wife took the watch to a watch repair shop, they quoted $55 to replace the broken crystal. That's five less than the sale price of the watch - no thanks. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted, but I won't buy another one to replace the first - twenty bucks a month is a bit high for a watch rental. Skagen Men's 433LSL1 Slim Brown Leather Watch

My wife bought me this watch for our 20th anniversary. It keeps good time and looks classy. I can wear it to work with a pair of jeans and a casual shirt and then keep it on for a night out in slacks and a button down. Good watch.

I bought this as a gift for someone, and it has turned out wonderfully. It is a very slim and stylish watch and has great quality. I would definitely recommend buying it on Amazon or with another discount seller. I saw the same watch (with the same model number) for double the price on other websites.

Bought this watch after my friend (another skagen enthusiast) referred me. I think this is the most elegant semi-formal watch I've owned. It's style is really subtle and unlike all those chunky chronographs, it does exactly what a watch is supposed to do: tell time. The watch face is also big enough for the time to be easily read. Some people seem to complain how this watch breaks easily (or at least the crystal). I haven't had any problems with it (though I've only had one for 4 months so far), but I don't think I really will. The crystal looks as delicate as any semi-formal watch I've owned. Unless you work in in an industry like construction or have a tendency to bump into things, I don't think you have anything to worry about minus battery issues.

I have had this watch for a few months now and it is absolutely amazing. It is comfortable, light weight, sleek, sexy and also quite durable. It is a great casual and dress watch. I would definitely recommend the Skagen brand to everyone. They make accurate and awesome watches.

For the price of a Timex, you can have a sleek, modern work of art. Great quality leather band, great quality watch. I've received complements from total strangers. Nothing wrong with a Timex, I have several, but from a design point of view, this is heads and tails above your typical "wear everyday" watch.

Saw this watch at a major department store for $110, checked Amazon $70, checked back again later that night AND IT DROPPED TO $61... uhh... can we say "sold?"

I love my new watch. The face is actually thinner than the band! super lightweight! Stylish for dress or casual!

I bought this watch for my boyfriend and it's perfect! It is very nice, with a good and beautiful leather strap and a clear, classic, and somehow subtle and soothing typeface for the watch face. It's one of the most beautiful watches I've ever seen without being flashy but having just obvious good style. - Skagen Watch - Beautiful Watch - Lightweight - Leather Banded'

Wireless Network - youtube, wireless network

Chose this model because it had streaming, DLNA, and wireless built-in (you don't need a separate dongle). I have not been disappointed in any of its functions. Wireless connectivity was a breeze - setup was straightforward and this model accepts a 32-character WPA2 security key (unlike previous LG TVs and Blu-ray player models which were limited to 18-20 characters, as I discovered when I bought a wireless dongle for our TV!). The wireless connection seems to be much more stable than with the other wireless devices we have. I occasionally have to turn off and on again to get a connection on startup, but this is unsurprising given how flaky our router is ... :-)

Blu-ray playback is really good. Our first Blu-ray disc looked grainy and I was concerned until I read various forum discussions that criticized this movie transfer. Many Blu-ray movies are apparently intentionally grainy because this duplicates the "film" experience that the director intended. You can use the movie mode on your TV to reduce graininess as this lowers the sharpness setting. Our second Blu-ray disc was really smooth and detailed, as were most of the other discs. Playback resolution is excellent, you can see every pore on someone's face and the depth of field is amazing. There were no stutters, freezes or glitches with any of the discs we have played. DVD upscaling is also good - I decided it is not worth replacing any DVDs with Blu-ray discs as the upscaled playback in 1080p looks just as good as Blu-ray playback.

Wireless streaming from Netflix was absolutely painless, once I worked out that the "Netflix ESN" that the player provides in the network setup menu is NOT the code that you need to use for Netflix connection setup. You need to select the LG Premium menu icon which accesses premium streaming services, select Netflix and get the connection code from the setup menu there. Enter the code once on the Netflix website ("Activate a Netflix ready device" in your account settings) and Netflix streaming works automatically after that. Hopefully my experience will save other people hours of trying to connect with the wrong code! Netflix streaming is excellent quality, much better than broadcast TV for most shows. The player seems to stream seamlessly from Netflix with almost no stutters or degraded resolution issues, even for HD movies. The only issues I have seen are when my internet connection is congested (Comcast net access is pretty bad on Friday evenings and Saturdays in my area). I am impressed.

A recent firmware update (April 2011) added Amazon Video on Demand, which also works great! It is really cool to have these services. The device also offers Vudu, Pandora, Napster etc. but I haven't used those. Firmware updates are easy, although these do take around 5-10 minutes to load via wireless connection - you need to keep your nerve and not turn off the player, thinking nothing is happening. Eventually, you get a message saying that the download has loaded and the player turns off and on again. If the download fails (which did happen once), the device is not affected (good design).

I was really impressed by how painless it was to set up media streaming from a PC using DLNA. A copy of Nero Home Media Server essentials was supplied on CD - I installed this, the player automatically detected my PC and presented me with a list of files I could play from the media folder. This was *so* easy! DLNA file-streaming has worked brilliantly: I only experienced problems with one, huge (10 GB) home movie file that stuttered and stopped. Then I discovered the USB connection on the right-front panel of the player. I had been so taken with all of the streaming solutions that I overlooked the easiest way to play media files, which is from an external hard drive or flash drive! The BD670 played the huge file from an external hard drive with no problems. Since then, the player has played everything I have thrown at it: AVI and MKV, etc. using lots of different codecs. With 3 firmware updates in the month that I have owned it, I have a lot of confidence that it is being updated constantly to play all of the latest disc and file formats. So I am a very happy bunny indeed!

UPDATE: *** Hulu-Plus just appeared on the premium services (network access) menu, as of the July 30th software update! I can't vouch for the quality, because I am not a member. But the demo videos seem to play just fine ... :-) LG BD670 3D Wireless Network Blu-ray Disc Player with Smart TV

I bought this player a month ago and wanted to wait and get some ample use time with it before I left a review. The LG BD670 is my second standalone blu-ray player, where my first was the LG BD390 (2009 model). (It also really says something when in 2009 I paid $330 for the BD390, yet only 2 years later pay only $154 for the BD670.) I decided to go with LG again because of my experience with past performance and they give all the features I want. As with most blu-ray players like this one firmware updates are a must, so as soon as I got the player connected to my network (wireless) I got it updated to the latest firmware. So far I am pretty impressed with most, but not all aspects of this player. There are 3 main viewing methods I use to watch videos with this player: discs (30%), USB (30%) and streaming/wireless (40%). I'll give detailed reviews of these since they're what I use.

* DISCS: With both the ability to stream AND watch video files via the USB port (as with the 390) I don't watch as many discs as I use to. There are now of course 2 types of video discs, DVD and blu-ray. What some people don't understand is that DVD and blu-ray are 2 completely different formats, each with there own disc format. The only thing that they have in common (besides playing A/V streams) is that they both have the same SIZE disc.

- Blu-rays: ** See UPDATES @ the end of my review about this! ** When I first watched a blu-ray on my BD390 paired with my (then new) Vizio 42" 1080p 120Hz HDTV I definitely saw the improvement over DVD with a much sharper, clearer picture with much more detail. In fact it sometimes sucks to have that much detail for some of the older/low budget movies that I have on blu-ray because it allows you to see just how bad some of the special effects were (wires, etc.)! I thought the picture couldn't get any better on my Vizio because I thought that what the BD390 was giving it was as good as what the TV could produce. Well, when I watched some of my blu-rays on the same TV with the BD670...it turned out I was wrong! This player gives noticeable improvement when it comes to playing blu-rays when compared to the BD390. The picture IS actually even sharper/clearer and the colors are more vibrant; not in any grand, vast improvement kind of way, but it is noticeable. I've played about a dozen or so blu-rays on it thus far, but it's been able to play them all without any problems whatsoever...say for one title (so far). "Daybreakers". I know this title plays just fine because the disc would play in the 390. When I put this disc in to play in the 670, it starts to load up the main menu with its movie icon/progress bar, but then stops about 3/4 of the way through. However the sound will continue to play for the trailers with just a small patch of the video on the screen showing beside half of the logo. I "next track" all of the trailers to try and get to the menu (pressing the "disc menu" button only gives me the "circle cross" icon telling me it can't do that), but once I'm past all the trailers and the menu is suppose to load up...nothing. It just sits there and doesn't load up anything. I called LG to make them aware of this problem and the woman I talked to said she would pass along this info to their firmware dept. and look into fixing the problem. (Who knows how long that might take though?!) Hopefully this one title is a rarity, but it makes me wonder out of the over 100 titles on blu-ray I do own and have yet to play on this machine, how many of those might encounter this same kind of problem?

- DVD's: ** See UPDATES @ the end of my review about this! ** Surprisingly, this unit DOES have a slight problem when it comes to playing DVD's! You think the one thing they could get right for this player is to play DVD's with no problems whatsoever, but sadly no. The audio/video plays fine, but every chapter change there is a half-second skip in the play (more for the audio than the video). It's barely noticeable, but it IS noticeable. It's not enough to really bother me, but I can understand other people being bothered by it. If it happened more often in the play, then it would probably get on my nerves more. This is a problem that LG is already aware of and says is working to fix in a future firmware update, but still I contacted them via email about this just to add my complaint to the list. Other than that there is no other problems I've experienced. The audio/video quality is great and every single DVD loads up and plays, even some region 0/PAL DVD's I got from Australia.

* USB: This is the main reason I bought and have stuck with the LG model blu-ray players. I have plenty of USB flash drives, not to mention external HD's where I have all my media files backed up on, other things I download from various sources. I just transfer them to a flash drive and plug it into the port and start watching. This player is a bit different from the 390 in that the USB, not the disc source is the main source it defaults to. I can have a disc already loaded in the unit when I turn it on, yet if you have a USB drive plugged in, it will ask if you want to play something from that first instead of loading up the disc. So far, it has played every single video file/format (.mkv, .mpeg, .avi, .mp4, .m4v) I've thrown at it with no problems at all. I LOVE this ability.

* Streaming/Wireless: Not only does this unit have the USB port up front to play video/music/picture files off of external drives, but with the wireless it has the ability to use DLNA to stream media from your computer (which I haven't messed with yet.) This unit has dual-band wireless, meaning it uses both 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz bands. This is especially useful for those who have a dual-band router (such as myself), so there is less chance of a dropped connection or decrease in connection speed. Mostly all of the streaming I do with the 670 is from LG's Premium service, i.e. Netflix, Pandora, etc. This is definitely where the 670 has improved over the 390 with a lot more services and better interfaces. The interface menu for Netflix has VASTLY improved from the 390 with more choices to look up movies and easier navigation of the "instant queue". The only other Premium service I've used so far is Pandora which is nice too. I have yet to try out any of the other services, and don't plan to for the foreseeable future. I will note that when I first did the firmware update (no problems) then loaded up the Premium service, it started to do an update for the program, but said it failed and just loaded up Premium as normal. The second time I loaded it up it attempted the update again and was successful. All of the movies I've streamed have played fine with no dropped connections/rebuffering and the quality has been at least DVD or better.

Overall, for the time being, I'm satisfied with this player; but only with the understanding that the problems it has will be fixed in future firmware update(s). As these blu-ray players get more and more complex with all the different features they have, it also means there's more chance for various and unforeseen bugs like the ones this player still suffers from will pop-up, hence the need for the firmware updates. I know a number of people believe that they should be like the old DVD players and just work straight out of the box and I wish they did too. In a perfect world they would, but this is far from a perfect world isn't it? These players are becoming more and more like computers, various hardware and software meant to work together to perform certain tasks without errors or conflicts. However ANYONE with a computer knows that it's not that easy. I modify/upgrade hardware and some programs (software) on my system all the time and sometimes these changes cause conflicts. A change in hardware, even with the latest drivers can cause unforeseen problems with other hardware or software. A new update to a driver can cause the hardware it's suppose to improve to work less efficiently or program update can cause conflicts with other software. Most of the time this doesn't happen or can be easily resolved, but sometimes it does. This is the same for these new players. A firmware update meant to fix one issue can cause another. The companies that manufacture these players can only do so much beta-testing before they have to release them into the real world. That is when we, the consumer whom these devices are intended for, put them through their real world paces that the manufacturer simply can't do. There are so many variations (different DVD's, blu-rays, vidoe files, streaming, etc.) made by different studios and other companies that all use various manufacturing/specification standards that it would be virtually impossible for the manufacturers to try and test them all on these players, when they themselves have their own standards and specifications. Read reviews for any other blu-ray player out there right now and I defy you to find one single player that has no complaints against it. I'm not trying to defend this players shortcomings, I'm just saying I understand (more than some people) why they exist and at the same time am trying to make other people understand why they exist.

With this review I am trying to inform you, the consumer about this player. It is a good player and will be an even better one once these small problems it has are fixed in firmware updates. If you buy this player now, be aware of the aforementioned problems and be patient for the firmware fixes. If you are turned off by these problems I have experienced and/or problems mentioned by other reviewers which I have not experienced; either wait until these problems have been addressed to purchase or simply look into buying a different player. Once firmware for these problems have been released and fixes the player, I will update by review accordingly.

**UPDATE: 6/15/11**

After contacting LG a couple times and browsing the AVS forums, it seems that the DVD skip was introduced in the latest firmware update that was put out in late April. It should be fixed in the next update along with a few other little things. So the fault lies not in the player, but the latest firmware. (Just so people will know.)

**UPDATE: 6/20/11**

A new firmware update was released just after my last update. It didn't come up automatically, I went into the "Setup" section to check (like I do every few days, just in case). I updated to this newest version to see if any problems were fixed. For the DVD "chapter change" 1/2 second skip problem, I can say it's been fixed for the most part. I've only watched 3 or 4 DVD's so far (a couple movies and a TV series episode) and I only experienced the skip intermittently or not at all. For 1 or 2 of the movies the skip happened like once in the beginning and a few times closer towards the end, for the other movie and the TV episode I watched, I didn't experience the skip at all. For that particular blu-ray title problem "Daybreakers", this has been fixed (or maybe it was half my fault from the start)! What I discovered is that the reason "Daybreakers" wouldn't load up in the first place is because I always had a USB drive plugged into the front when I tried to load the movie! I don't know why this interferes with this particular title ONLY (so far) and not any other I've loaded up, but it does! I want to say that before this newest update I HAD already tried having the flash drive unplugged from the front to see if it made a difference, so I'm not sure if this update had anything to do with it or not. If you are having trouble with a particular blu-ray (like "Daybreakers") not loading up AND you have a USB drive plugged in, THAT could be the problem! I updated the rating for my review to 4 stars since LG is starting to release firmware updates that are making improvements and are getting the player to proper working order again.

**UPDATE: 6/25/11**

Yet another update was released on 6/21 which, it appears, COMPLETELY fixes the DVD skip problem. I watched some more DVD's and I haven't experienced it on ANY of them, so I guess that problem has been squared away. Since any of the problems I've experienced have now been fixed I'll stop doing these updates, especially since their making my review even longer than it is already!
