Magsafe - macbook charger, magsafe

This was the best price I found on this charger. I've had my macbook for 3 years and my first charger just broke a month ago and I have to admit I was pretty rough with it. I was hesitant in purchasing this item anywhere but from Apple themselves but so far I've been very pleased with it. Received item quickly and I've had no problems with its operation. The only issue with this item is not from the seller but from Apple. Sadly there is a flaw in these in that the wire does become disconnected over time. I do agree with previous posters though that being fairly careful with the cord and not pulling it out of the socket by the cord, etc will extend its life. Apple Mac Charger

i haven't had any issues with this charger. i've had it about a month now. hopefully the cat won't chew on this one...it's the only reason i had to replace my original. the model # is different, but it doesn't seem to matter. not sure how apple does their numbering but the V, Hz and A are the same so i (hesitatingly) plugged it in...worked like a charm.

Good product, but needs extra cord. It does not come with the white extension that Apple gives away with new computers. Because I was replacing a 3 year old charger, I already had this cord. Try looking for a charger that includes this extra extension.

Some reviews here say that this isn't a mac product, but it is in fact! It came very protected and it has mac's signature everywhere!

The same product as the one that came originally with my macbook

No bad review to give... it has an amazing design and the magnet feature that prevents your macbook to fall in the floor when you get trapped in the cord is just brilliant!

The charger totaly failed after 30 days, have already ordered from Apple Store as the situation was critical. Child is in college in Minnesota 1200 miles away and had to have the computer up and running so there is no time to mess around with faulty equipment. - Macbook Charger - Magsafe'

Blu-ray Disc Players

I was pleasantly surprised with the LG BD630! You get a whole LOT for the money! I am going to try and pick this thing apart somewhat in this review , so if you are interested then Read On Mc Duff!

I purchased this unit for my 81 year old father who has taken to watching Xvid and MKV files from the internet, usually documentaries on WW2 and other history programs. Of course he also watches DVD's but has not until now delved into Blu Ray or Netflix streaming. I needed something for him that had a very easy to follow menu system and worked WELL with a minimum of glitches.

The player itself is very basic on the outside. The BD630 features an on/off , eject, play/pause and stop buttons on it's face and a USB slot covered with a little rubber trap door on the right hand side with the disc drawer in the middle. It doesn't exactly exude high build quality on first glance, but what makes this little player SO good is the software inside. (more on that very soon) Mind you, it isn't totally cheap looking and as the saying goes good things can and DO come in small packages.

This is a very small (not very deep) unit and also a very lightweight one. It came packed with a decent PRINTED manual , basic cabling (you will need an HDMI or Component cable) and a functional remote that uses only 1 AAA cell, also included. It comes with a couple of printed adverts for Netflix and even a small sticker on the top of the unit that screams NETFLIX at you. (easily removed) The power cable is attached. You get composite video out, stereo RCA audio outs , Component Video and HDMI Out , a Coax Digital Audio out and a LAN port for connecting to your home network if you wish to use the Netcast features such as Netflix and You Tube.

Being at the low end of the LG food-chain, this particular player is NOT DLNA enabled and to play your video files (other than blu ray and DVD) you must stream from a USB device be it a thumb drive or external hard drive. You can not connect this unit via the Ethernet connection to your computer. LG starts including THAT feature a few more models UP from this one. I guess that is understandable given the price point.

The connectivity is very good really, you can use this device with everything from an analogue standard TV all the way up to 1080p HDTV and your audio options are just as good with the analogue stereo outs, or the Coax digital which can handle up to 5.1 Dolby Digital or DTS and the HDMI which can pass thru the uncompressed Dolby TruHD or DTS Master Audio tracks that accompany much of the blu ray releases. You can set the Video output to match your TV resolution, set picture aspect ratio to play 4:3 programs as is or to stretch them to fill your screen. The USB port can be used to connect a USB thumb drive or even an external hard drive. It isn't too picky about the formatting of the drive and can also support up to 4 drive partitions. That alone is amazing for the price and a nice touch.

This brings me to my first and only MAJOR complaint about this machine. It is SO lightweight than when you plug in your USB drive or cable to it, the unit itself tends to push backwards. Perhaps adding some non slip little rubber feet to the bottom with a couple drops of super glue would easily solve that.

Just be aware that if you are not careful, you run the risk of knocking the thing over when accessing that feature. Note: To access any BD Live features you may wish to download and view, a USB drive is required as there apparently is minimal onboard memory. I personally disable BD Live on every machine I have as this tends to slow loading times.

Set up took less than two minutes after connections were made. The machine boots quickly. Easily as quickly as my Oppo BDP-80. Things got VERY interesting when I loaded a Java heavy Blu Ray disc and it loaded VERY quickly. I can honestly say this machine loads a Blu Ray disc FASTER than my Oppo (a nice fast machine) and that blew me away just to see it happen. Playback was as expected. GREAT! DVD up-conversion to 1080p was average for a new machine today, but better than average for machines only a year or so old. And the disc tray itself is solid and goes in and out without any sort of loud rattle of worrisome grinding noises. (a complaint for some Oppo BDP-80 and 83 users)

The Netflix GUI is about the same as on the current crop of LG TV's. Your performance is going to depend more on your internet connection and speed than the LG software which in my opinion is very good. Navigating my Instant Queue was a bit sluggish but I have the same problem on ANY of my Netflix enabled devices. Once you start playback and it loads, things work just the way you would expect and want them to.

It is noteworthy to mention I had NO problems at all playing DVD-R and CD-R discs. Discs containing Xvid and other video file types also loaded quickly and played perfectly. Just for fun I put in a region free Pal disc and it spit it back out with an on screen message telling me it was the wrong region. (I had to try) So basically, this thing will play ANYTHING I or my Dad owns EXCEPT for Pal. OH well, you can't have everything!

Basically, it works and works well. You can update the firmware via the LAN port or by downloading from the LG site and burning a disc or putting it on a USB drive which is what I did before attempting to play anything. Time will tell if LG continues to support this machine with further firmware updates as they become needed to play some of the more Java intensive titles such as the new Alien discs. If updating firmware intimidates you, find someone you know who is an old hand at it and let THEM do it so you don't accidentally 'brick' your player. Really, it isn't that difficult. (just don't turn the machine off while updating)

I personally own an LG 47 inch LE 5400 television and as expected the software in the BD630 is almost identical for playing computer files, mp3's looking at photos, etc. IN some aspects , they have improved the software and I was duly impressed. It is smooth, easy to see what you are doing with logically laid out screens , easy to identify the individual file names and the transport controls are solid and responsive when playing everything from an Xvid to a 720p or 1080i Mkv file. We didn't have any 1080p files to test so I can only speak for the others. They all loaded reasonable fast and played glitch free. Pause and resume worked perfectly. You can access the info screen while playing the file. Audio synch was a non issue. Basically this is everything a person could want in local media file playback. (6-7-11 EXCEPT playing Divx files, see my update below) Try as I could, I encountered NO glitches of any type other than having to set our Harmony remote response time to shorter as it was giving double commands for the left and right direction buttons.

Just the local media file playing ability of this unit alone is worth the purchase price. Add THAT with great Blu Ray playback, VERY fast loading times (depends on the Blu Ray title as some discs will load quicker than others) more than decent DVD up-conversion , Netflix streaming and much more and I think LG has a winner at a price point you just can't argue with. I remember just a few years ago Sony was selling their flagship Blu Ray Player for 999.00 and it didn't do 25% of what THIS machine can do. Good stuff and a FULL one year warranty for Parts AND Labor!

Oh yeah, my 81 year old father is having NO trouble making this thing work at all. I just caught him playing a HD video file that he had loaded himself and I thought to myself "now THAT is user friendly" !! If I run into any future problems or software glitches with this thing I will update this review and add whatever else I have learned.

UPDATE 5-13-11 The LG is still going strong. We have yet to run into any file that will not play and unlike some reviewers have not experienced any player malfunctions with standard DVD playback including my Lord of The Rings extended editions. NO freezes, disc jams or failure to loads encountered so far. I still stand by my earlier statement regarding the Blu Ray disc load times. They ARE faster than my Oppo BDP-80 which is pretty fast to begin with.

IMPORTANT UPDATE 6-7-11 I found out the hard way last night that this player does NOT support any Divx files. I should have read the spec sheet more carefully as they do not list Divx as a supported codec. SO if you want to play any Divx encoded files you will need to 'trans-code' them using a program like Handbrake (freeware) and change it into a codec the player DOES recognize. I was surprised to find this out as my LG HDTV WILL PLAY files with the Divx file extension. Go figure! SO FAR this is the ONLY type of video file I have run into that will not play. (Apparently LG didn't want to pay the licensing fee to Divx) LG BD630 Network Blu-ray Disc Player'

Leather Kindle Cover - kindle covers, kindle accessory

I wanted to find a better alternative to the official Kindle cover, as well as something that used the corner system rather then the hinge system. This leather mCover from ipearl seemed to be exactly what I was looking for! Initially, I wanted the black cover, but since that was sold out, I decided to go for the blue.

The cover that arrived is a bit darker than the blue pictured on the product page, which is actually fine because I LOVE the color. It's a bit.. well, TARDIS blue, for you Doctor Who fans. The elastic on mine is tight and has no trouble holding the cover securely.

After two days, the case still has a weird chemical/plastic smell, but I'm assuming it will fade over time.

The one thing I am disappointed about -- the thing keeping me from giving a five star review -- is that the upper left corner of mine seems to be sewn a bit wrong. The left edge is too short and is not the correct height to hold the Kindle. As a result, the upper corner pulls towards the spine of the cover, which is rather unattractive and annoying. Blue mCover® Leather Folio Cover Case for Amazon Kindle 3 (Fits 6" Display, built-in inner pocket)

Update: My Kindle still sits in this cover. Easy to keep clean, charge, and read with the cover folded back. Now, it looks just like a nice Journal Cover. Protected the Kindle when Cat decided to dance on it and knock it on the floor.

When folded back for night reading - its best to clip the Verso light on the Cover and not the Kindle (reading in the Kindle Forums taught me this lesson). I hope you enjoy the price savings and your mCover as much as I have.

***********************************

I did a lot of research for covers. I purchased the Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G + Wi-Fi, 3G Works Globally, Graphite, 6" Display with New E Ink Pearl Technology on December 17th, and wanted to check it out before deciding on a light and cover.

I watched videos on Covers, You Tube Videos, and reviews about the non-lighted Kindle Covers causing reboots.

I wanted something that would allow me to take the Kindle out, but also carry securely. I also wanted no hooks to the kindle itself (reports in the forums of kindles getting cracked if someone opens the cover incorrectly). This puppy does the trick. Just slide the top of the Kindle into the edge corner holders, and the slip the bottom corner holders around the bottom edge. Slip the elastic band over the cover, and walla - secure kindle.

Its a deeper blue (I wanted black, but they were out of stock). However, it looks good, and now I don't mind. Easy to keep clean. You can either store things in the pocket, or cut the included insert to size, slip in - and use as added screen protection (I haven't done this yet - but have kept the insert). The corner straps don't cover anything vital, no keys. Its the perfect fit.

The cover itself is seemingly patent leather feel, the pocket and right edge of top cover feels more vinyl like. The inner is a suede/felt type material - all is blue.

I would keep this cover in a purse or backpack. If you are taking out solo in the elements - then perhaps a freezer bag wrapped around - since this doesn't cover the sides of the kindle.

Now, I wanted the red one of these: Verso Clip-On Reading Light for Kindle (Turquoise), but again they were out - and the turquoise matches the cover.

My preferred choices when you want to save more money to spend on books ;-)

Edit to Add:

The smell seems to be part of the construction, and does wear off as time goes on (had mine since 12/27/2010 - again, speedy shipping from Amazon).

I have included some pictures above, which demonstrate the corners inside, and the actual color of the cover.

I spent a lot of time looking for an inexpensive cover for my Kindle 3. There are a lot of nice covers out there, but the average price of a cover seemed to be between $30 and $40, and I just wasn't willing to spend that much for something so basic.

Surprisingly, my searches on Amazon hadn't turned up the mCover, I stumbled across it in an independent review of Kindle covers that included many I hadn't seen before. The mCover seemed to be exactly what I'd been looking for: a decent cover at a very good price. I ordered it without hesitation.

To my delight, the mCover has turned out to be pretty much everything I want in a cover. I've been using it daily for a number of weeks now and have not found any fault with it at all. The major selling points are:

1) It's thin. One of the things I like best about the Kindle is that it's thin and light -- if it weren't I wouldn't carry it. The last thing I want is to stick it in a bulky cover. The mCover doesn't add a lot of bulk. Closed, it's just over 1/2" thick, about the size of a thin paperback. It feels very comfortable in the hand.

2) It's protective. The front and back are hard covers which do the job of protecting the Kindle from any knocks it might take in a bag, backpack, or from being inadvertently dropped.

3) It's secure. The mounting system is simple and unobtrusive, with a vinyl holders on each the four corners. It covers very little of the Kindle, but I have no worries about the Kindle accidentally coming loose.

4) It's well-made. Overall, the materials and the fabrication are better than I've seen on covers that cost three times more. The stitching is neat and clean, the vinyl and fabric is good quality, and there are no indications of sloppiness such as glue blobs or crooked seams. It looks and feels well-made.

5) It lies flat. One of the things I don't like about nearly all other covers is that they use a rigid spine. When the front cover is folded around behind, these covers create a wedge shape. Not only to I find this annoying to hold, but when you set the Kindle on a table to read it, such as during a meal, it lies at an angle. The mCover has a soft spine, so when you fold the front cover around back it stays flat. Thank you ipearl!!

OK, I have ONE very minor gripe about the mCover, and it's hard to even call this much of a gripe. A couple of the vinyl corners that hold the Kindle in place are sewn on a little out of square with the corners of the cover. In at least some instances this seems to be a side effect of an intentional decision rather than sloppiness. For example, the bottom right holder is sewn on so it mates up with the elastic cord that holds the cover closed. This junction is now aesthetically pleasing, but this has pushed the bottom of the holder out a little bit to the right, which makes it out of square. On mine, the upper-right holder is also not quite square. You can see this in many of the pictures of the mCover. I will note that this doesn't affect function at all, but to a perfectionist's eye like mine it's always noticeable.

Overall, I can't see any reason to buy any other cover. There might be fancier covers, or ones made of real leather or other nice materials, or covers that are thinner and lighter than the mCover. But unless those covers begin to approach the mCover price point, I'm simply not going to buy them. The mCover provides everything I need at an excellent price. - Kindle Accessory - Kindle 3 Covers - Kindle Covers - Leather'

Dell Latitude Battery - dell latitude battery, dell battery

When I was looking for a battery, I did not expect to find a brand new one for so little. It was a wonderful deal and the bonus was a little written instructional manual about how to correctly discharge your battery and reset it to its maximum charging capacity. Which makes it take a better charge and last longer (something the Laptop manufactures don't want you to know!) I preformed the total discharge for my other laptop and reset my battery and now it will hold a 4.2 hour charge. Thank You! Thank You! Laptop Battery Compatible with Dell® Inspiron 500m, 600m Series, Latitude D500, D505, D510, D600, D610 Series, Precision M20, Workstation M20 Series

As the Dell battery from Dell is expensive, I thought I'd save some money buying a replacement battery on Amazon. The battery I got wouldn't even power up my laptop. I assume it's a defect with the specific battery I got as opposed to the entire product line, since other people indicate success.

Since it was processed by Dekcell (available for Prime shipping), return was super easy. May try again.

I'm running a Dell Inspiron 600m.

I tried this battery as an alternative to Dell's overpriced replacement batteries. I use it in a Latitude D610. It was a little quirky at first. When I plugged in outlet power after drawing down the battery a bit, it didn't consistently begin charging. After using it for over a month, the problem appears to have resolved itself. Aside from that temporary quirk, the battery has performed well, and I consider it a great bargain.

The battery was delivered promptly and fit into my Inspiron 500m the same as the original. It has been working adequately in the month since it was installed.

There are three issues to document:

1. The battery was fully charged when received based on the fuel gage on the bottom. It also reported over 90% by the time MS XP SP2 had booted and has charged up to 100% with normal use. While I have not timed the unit precisely, I do get 2-3 hours of normal use on a charge, which is adequate. However, when I booted the laptop with XUBUNTU, which has a much more informative battery status monitor than the Microsoft OS, it reported that the battery (still brand new) was only in 'Fair' condition. This info comes from the battery pack, not from the OS or the PC. Microsoft will report that the battery has 100% of its capacity, but does not say whether the capacity has been internally derated from its original design specifications. The battery now reports (after only a month of use) that the capacity is 'Poor' (59% of rated), that the original design of 53Wh has now been reduced to 32Wh. It appears to have stabilized at that level. It is still worth the price, I suppose, but I would imagine that it will need replacement in a year, unless the performance increases with use. Of course, it might be the XUBUNTU, but I believe that it is simply reporting info provided by the battery pack's built in electronic monitor.

2. I also received a warning from the XUBUNTU OS the first time I operated with the new battery pack that the battery MIGHT be subject to a recall, but no wandering about the net revealed any supportive info for that and XUBUNTU no longer reports the warning. Not quite sure what to think there, but the laptop has not burst into flames....... yet.

3. The last is a minor thing. The rubber foot built into the battery pack is of an inferior grade of rubber compared to the original foot, since it leaves black skid-marks on the table tops on which the laptop has been used. I replaced it with the rubber foot off of the original battery and that problem is gone.

Since the price, including shipping is less than a third of the Dell OEM replacement part, I guess it is still a deal, though I certainly cannot give it 5 stars.

There are different levels of mAh in this batteries

My labtop works with 4,4 mAh and the battery came with 5 mAH this difference makes that the battery only charges to a max of 17%

If you are going to order check the mAH or you will be disapointed and the vendor does not specify this

While the battery fits in the place provided, and seems to be working, the specs do NOT match the description provided by the seller. Rather than a 4400MAh battery at 11.1V, I received a 2200MAh battery at 14.8V. I think this is a difference of 4 cells vs 6 cells in the design, but I paid for a 6 cell battery.

Caveat emptor, sometimes you get what you pay for. I really should have listened to my gut on this one.

Price seemed right, but that was the only positive to this product. Mechanically, there's really only one thing that could go wrong with this battery, and sure enough, the spring-loaded latch on mine was broken when I received it. Decided to request a replacement, but wasn't permitted to do so. Instead, I had to return for a refund and then reorder. Seemed a bit counterintuitive. - D600 - Dell Latitude Battery - Replacement Battery - Dell Battery'

Micro Four Thirds

I was looking for a second camera to compliment my DSLR and provide a lighter, smaller, option with similar image quality and handling. I compared all the EVIL cameras on the market at the time (September 2010). The Sony NEX series looks good, but is larger with a lens attached and significantly more expensive. The micro 4/3 cameras have good accessory support built up already but I wanted a larger sensor and a tighter total package.

The NX100 is comparable in size to a film rangefinder, but much lighter. Handling is superb - I can reach the top scroll wheel easily without looking, and while the thumb wheel take a little movement to reach that's not an issue with the i-Function lenses. Let me take a moment to talk about the i-Function. This handling advantage was the tie breaker over a Sony for me. I don't use it very often since I'm still not used to having it there, but it is a really great addition and improves the overall handling a lot. One of the big things I like about my DLSR is that all the functions I want to use or adjust are on the face of the camera - I can tweak, flick, and flip without moving my eye from the viewfinder. This is basically what the i-function emulates without all the bulk and complexity of the larger cameras. I haven't used the auto and scene modes too much, but Manual, Aperture Priority, and Shutter Priority work great and the interface is well sorted for these. The menu system is a little rough, but not as bad as you might think and luckily you really rarely have to use it for anything after the initial setup.

Manual focus is quick and direct feeling, though not as satisfying as a manual connection to the helicoid like in a traditional lens. The trade off is a smaller lens with a smaller, quieter motor and a really tight collapsed package - I'll take it. The focusing action is about a half-turn from near to far and the motion is easy and fluid.

Auto focus is a little iffy in low light or low contrast but overall is totally usable and works great in normal to bright lighting. All of the EVIL cameras use contrast-detect auto focus and are thus slower than the phase-detect auto focus in SLR type cameras and the NX100 is no exception. This seems to be par for the course in the EVIL class and hasn't really been an issue so far, but I would like to see faster AF.

Focusing is nearly silent and the included 20-50 compact zoom is an excellent performer. I'd like it if it had a slightly bigger aperture, but the camera's high ISO performance makes it usable in modest low light situations. So far all my ISO 1600 shots have been more than usable with just a little noise visible zoomed in.

The screen is bright and beautiful. I'm looking to try the accessory finder as soon as it's available, but for now using the back screen like a point-n-shoot is fine and works like any other camera this size.

The reviews I read online indicated there was some problem with write speed, but in my use pictures are written to the buffer and then the card very quickly. I shoot raw + fine jpg with a Sandisk extreme class 10 SD card and have had no trouble in rapid-fire single shot or the burst mode shooting.

Lens and accessory selection is a little light still, especially i-Function lenses. I also picked up the 30mm f/2 lens, and it is a great performer on this body. The stock lens collapses quickly into a tight little package, but the 30mm pancake really makes this camera small for the sensor size. It's not quite pocketable, but would easily slip into a jacket pocket or small bag. The included strap works well over the shoulder and the camera tucks away behind my arm without any noticeable weight. The strap does say Samsung on it, but it's not nearly as obvious as the Nikon or Canon straps are and so is pretty discrete.

Samsung has a lens road map on their website that indicates they'll be pushing more glass out for the NX mount over the next year. In the mean time the basics are covered - small wide to normal zoom included, a 50-200 tele-zoom is available and there are 20mm and 30mm f/2 primes on the market now. A macro normal and portrait oriented mild tele are planned. There are also adapters available from third parties for most mounts, so existing glass can be put to work.

I'm very happy with the NX100 and would recommend it to anyone looking at cameras in this class. Samsung EV-NX100 Digital SLR with 14.6 MP and HD Recording

I compared this camera to the DMC-G2...Both are great cameras...The G2 has more options, touch screen and very nice picture quality..The NX100 lack 2 important things...EVF and a built in flash....and you can add the lack of image stabilization in the kit lens to the negatives...But there are few important things make this camera a winner...

The size is great...Close to the size of P&S...

Shape is beautiful.

Focus is very accurate.

Price is reasonable.

The picture quality is fantastic;this waht made me keep it...The colors are vibrant and oily...The DMC-G2 colors are great but harsh if you campare to the NX100.

Now there are many web sites offering great discounts like free flash and a hundred off each lens...Look at b h and cruchfield...So the flash is not a big deal...

If you are looking for picture quality, then this camera is a good option....I think it's under rated.Sadly it's not sold by amazon yet.

I returned the G2 and I'm keeping it...

Update 12/6/2010...

The 50-200mm lens is simply great...The image stabilization is fantastic..Picture is razor sharp...Focus is speedy.

The flash that came with the camera as bonus is also great...I think as long samsung will ship this flash for free, then the fact that this camera has no built in flash is a plus:)

One disadvantaged is that the face detection is week..But again you can use the spot focus and the focused subject is razoe sharp.

I did not notice until now that I'm missing the image stabilization in the kit lens...Maybe because I use always shutter speeds more than 1/30s...

I do blieve now that the absence of flash(as long as you can get the bonus flash) and image stabilization should not be a deal breaker.'

Disk Storage - disk storage, dvd holders

I read the reviews from others and I guess I was expecting a little more cushion between discs. Yes, the flaps are still intact and you have to "open" each one before you can slide a disc in. Annoying but do-able. It's an okay little case. Zipped close it looks like one of those expensive ones, so be careful where you leave it. I bought two and it's serving its purpose. Inland Pro CD Travel 40 Case

I thought for sure this would be great, because how could you beat the price?!? And it's not like I'm going to be carting it around or anything as it's only holding my dvd's under the tv. Nope. Not worth it! And I'm all good with generic and not the best - but this ripped just putting the dvd's in for the first time! When removing the plastic 'tabs' I'd say 80% ripped more or less than they were supposed to. No, I did not remove them with care, because after the first few ripped I was aggravated. Noting this, I tried to be careful and when I tried to carefully remove the tabs, the sheets themselves started to stretch and rip out of the binding. So the rest were hastily removed. I have to order another because this was not enough after all, but I'm happy to be replacing it.

I got it a few days ago and the first thing I saw I had to do was remove the plastic sections sealing each pocket because they hadn't already done so. Without removing that plastic area, you couldn't put in a CD. This was a real pain to do and took over an hour. Other than that, it is working out good so far.

I bought this for just a few DVD's that I have backed up so I wont be using it alot. The price lets you know exactly what your getting. Its VERY cheaply made. For my purposes it will get the job done but the sleeves you put the DVDs into feel like they are made of tissue paper. If your looking for something an adult will use occasionally, this is a good product for the price. Children would destroy this in minutes though.

I order this to have for my car to keep track of all my kids DVDs. It works well. Easy for the kids to use. The strap that I guess you are supposed to use to carry it, was frayed when I received it but it was no big hinderence to the use of it. It serves the purpose I bought it for.

It's what you'd expect from a cheap carrier for CD/DVD. It works perfectly for my kids DVDs. The case isn't anything special but it seems to withstand 4 kids regular usage. The plastic organizers inside seems to be withstanding sliding the discs in and out a lot which was a pleasant surprise. Definitely worth it's money I think.

I bought two of these CD cases and I'm very pleased! Very quick delivery, and when I opened the package, I really wasn't expecting much for such a bargain basement price...but I was very pleasantly surprised! Items are well constructed, a kind of "leatherette" feel to the outside, and the inside cd pockets are made of clear plastic on the front with a white sort of "fibery fabric" backing. They work very well for storing discs, and I'll probably buy a few more just like these! - Disk Storage - Dvd Wallet - Dvd Holders - Dvd Case'

Curling Iron - curling iron, infiniti

My hair is straight but is very puffy and frizzy looking. I have been using a flat iron for years to smooth it out. The flat iron does the job, but the ends look a bit brittle and don't have any movement. This Conair CS54 iron lets me flatten my puffy hair and gently tuck the ends under so my layered cut actually moves around and doesn't just hang flat. Overall it totally serves my purpose.Infiniti by Conair CS54 Nano Tourmaline Ceramic Curler & Straightener, Black

I'm just learning how to use a flat iron, so - as I become more accustomed to using it, I will add to my comments.

It's difficult to tell WHO is actually rating a product, but the first review sounded like a competitor, with a one star rating.

I like the the 30 sec. instant heat, It has the tourmaline ceramic technology - most seem to have this, too.

The first time I used it it was easy to handle, and seemed to do just as advertised.

The controls are in a place (and embedded) where you can't accidently change your settings. It does automatically turn off in 60 minutes.

The iron can also be used to create curls. The directions are illustrated, and easily understood.

I was very excited by the claims Conair made for this ceramic curler/straightener. It does have some great features: it is very lightweight, and it does a good job straightening hair, as long as your hair isn't too thick or too curly. However, I could not make it curl my hair in any way that looked good or remotely like the ads. For the record, I have a great deal of very fine, curly hair, down to the middle of my back, so its a challenge to style it in the best of circumstances. I gave up trying to use it for curling and now only use it to flatten and straighten my hair. The quest continues for the perfect curling iron!

This product makes curls easy! It's sooo easy to use and works perfectly for straight hair. Little tip for any new users-wait at least a day after you wash your hair to use the product. Your hair responds a lot better to the curl if it's not freshly washed.

I've had this flat iron for a few months, having "upgraded" from an older model with wider plates. This one heats up much faster and is a lot easier to use since it's lighter with narrower plates. I get my hair done faster and love the results. The curl feature is an added bonus; it's worked well for curling hair under and creating gentle waves. I saw similar flat irons that cost double or triple what this one cost. Get this iron - you won't be disappointed.

I just got this in the mail today and after playing with it was ready it, was ready to return it. I mainly wanted it for the curling feature and I couldn't get it to curl at all. I watched the brief dvd and tried again and was amazed at the curls...and that they last in my super fine, thin, straight hair. The commercial I saw on tv and on the internet make it look lie you just pull straight down and you get fabulous curls, that doesn't work. You have to twist the iron around as you pull down the hair, and it will work perfect.

I bought this iron a couple of months ago and i have to say i was a little nervous. But i ended up liking it. Im sure its not the best iron out there and the curling part doesn't even really work, but if your just looking for a flat iron that heats up really quick and is cheap, go with this one. If your looking for a curling iron, its not the best choice.

Pros:

heats up quick

cheap

good flat iron

lasts long

Cons:

doesn't curl hair well

only has three heat settings

even on low, burns hands

I've never had much luck curling my hair before. This handy little tool creates shiney, soft and bouncy curls. The people who did not have any luck with this possibley didnt watch the instuctional dvd (wich is very clear and makes the process even easier) or probably tried to curl lockes of hair that were too thick (does much better with thinner lockes and be sure to twirl hair with finger). The more I curl my hair the easier and faster the process has gotten. Havent tried to straighten with it, but I dont see why it wouldnt work. Very good product overall, would definitley recommend to anyone who has trouble curling their hair with conventional curlers and curling irons. - Infiniti - Curling Iron - Conair - Tourmaline'

Bath Faucet Attachment - bathtub sprayers, pet sprayer

I didn't expect much for under $10 but this product is actually worse than I expected. It's like a toy imitation of an actual product. The hose is unbelievably thin-walled. When warm water is used, the hose becomes like a wet noodle. If water pressure is increased moderately, the hose forcefully disconnects from the faucet adapter (i.e., the product comes apart) spraying water everywhere in the process. At least you can put it back together by slipping the hose back into the adapter. Wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. Go to a hardware store or the world's largest retailer instead. Profiles Spa Shampoo And Color Rinse Sprayer

We pruchased this product to make bath time with baby a little more fun for her and easier for us. It works out well. The attachment is pretty universal for kitchen sinks, you just push the round flexible rubber end over the spout. It is good to note though, the product has no options for water control. So, you can not stop water flow unless you just turn the sink spout off. This also means that you only control the pressure from the sink. Anyhow, I like the product - it will probably behandy for something else in the future too.

ok, so this product has quite a line of negative reviews. When i first got it, i immediately boxed it up for return. But then i went to Sally Beauty supply, and they sell pretty much the very same kind, no better than this. I looked for other brands online too within this price range and I didn't find anything i liked more. This is of poorish quality mainly because the plastic is a little flimsy, but it serves it purpose for me which is washing my hair on the sink. No leaks so far. Time will tell how long it holds but for the price, its ok.

I Received the sprayer very promptly and used it immediately. I was very pleased with it.

I put it in my slop sink in the laundry room which has a small faucet. However, I don't think it would be good for a large spout faucet such as a bathtub faucet.Profiles Spa Shampoo And Color Rinse Sprayer

This sprayer works as advertised, however, the hose is pretty thin as is the faucet attachment. We bought this sprayer to replace a similar looking sprayer that finally broke after several years of hard use in our laundry room sink. It was used for everything from washing grill parts to washing our dog. This one looks the same but we seriously doubt that it will last as well. - Dogs - Bathtub Sprayers - Pet Sprayer - Hair Styling Tools'

Kindle 3 Cover - kindle sleeve, belkin

Sure we would all love a leather case for our Kindle, but they can be a little expensive. Upon receiving this case I put it on my Kindle and found that it fit the Kindle very well. The case is very comfortable in my hand and the zipper is a plus too because it adds extra protection. The price for this product is wonderful and you get a great case for a great price. Belkin Grip Kindle Sleeve (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle), Black/White

I got the Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G + Wi-Fi, 6" Display, Graphite, 3G Works Globally - Latest Generation for my birthday and I absolutely love it. I like the feel of the Kindle without an attached cover but I wanted something to protect it when I carry it with me. This sleeve fits the bill perfectly. It protects without adding bulk and will fit in pretty much any bag I have to take with me.

The only problem I have with this product is that if the Kindle is inserted with the slide switch at the outside corner it will inadvertently turn the Kindle on as the slide switch can be pushed to its on position as the Kindle is inserted into the cover. If turned so that the slide switch is at the inside corner everything is fine as the slide switch is pushed in its natural off direction.

At first I was going to buy this case until I could get the leather case with the light. When I got it, it looked WAY too small to fit my kindle 3 wifi. It fit like a glove. I'm not normally one to gush over products but this one is awesome. it fits the Kindle so perfectly that it doesn't take up extra room in my purse and it has enough padding to protect it from minor drops but not so much that it takes up too much room. Honestly I think if you are looking for a case to protect it from damage in case it drops, chances are you'll drop it without the case too.

I had the neoprene case for my second generation kindle and LOVED it so I naturally ordered the same brand/similar case for my new kindle. Bad idea. It is much thicker, the zippers don't go all the way around, and it just is odd looking and ugly. I loved the sleek look of the other one, that I could pull my kindle out of the top, and that I could put it in and still charge it - you can't do any of that with this case - the zippers only go part way around top/bottom. You have to pull it out of the long end. I am returning it. Hope I find something.

After looking at all the Kindle 3 cases for my new Kindle Kindle Wireless Reading Device, Wi-Fi, 6" Display, Graphite - Latest Generation, I decided on this one.

The purple color is exactly as shown, the Kindle fits easily inside and the zipper is easy to zip, it is not sticky and not noisy at all.

I like the middle grip part too, makes it easy to carry, especially if your hands are full and you need to tuck it under your arm for a moment.

You can charge the Kindle with it unzipped too.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced case that is not bulky and does the job of protecting your Kindle, than this is the case for you.

There are many other colors to choose from too, if purple is not your thing.

When I had the second generation Kindle, I had the equivalent Belkin case for that product, and I was quite happy with it, so I was looking forward to the new case for my new Kindle. While I believe this is one of the best cases available for the Kindle, I do think that the quality of the case for the second generation outdid this one. The zipper on this case has a tendency to feel "sticky". It doesn't get stuck, but I feel like it doesn't zip as cleanly as the other case.

If you're looking for a good value case with a zipper rather than a sleeve or something like this, this is definitely your best bet.

Since there are so many positive reviews already, I wasn't going to leave one. However, there are several negative reviews about the snug fit and the zipper quality.

Concerning the snug fit, yes, the Kindle is a bit tight when you first purchase the sleeve. But after a few days use, it loosens up just enough so you can close it without any hassle. I think this is what you want since you don't want your kindle moving around in your bag. The idea, I think, is that the sleeve does the shifting while the kindle stays in place. So in the end, the snug fit is what makes the product what it is--a safe haven for your kindle!

Now it is true that the zipper is quite light, but this doesn't necessarily mean it's cheaply made. There are no apparent problems with the quality so unless it snaps off (highly unlikely) these complaints seem unfounded. Besides, do you really want a bulky fully metal zipper?

This is a great product for those who don't want to read their Kindle inside of a cover. The product does exactly what the manufacturers claim--it protects your Kindle.

When I decided to buy the Kindle, I planned to get a case at the same time so that it would be protected from any, er... accidents. I looked over the types of cases that were available which were only a few since the third Kindle just came out. I immediately knew that I wanted a case that would not attach to the Kindle because that always seems to be a little iffy to me, but also one that could completely incase the Kindle to protect it; so the book style cases and the sock style cases were out. I was a little afraid that I would harm the Kindle with the envelope style covers because of the Velcro style closer can be hard to open without a firm grip. The Belkin case was the perfect one for me because not only would it completely cover my Kindle, but it was water resistant and only $25 so it was not too expensive. I am able to slip the Kindle in and out of the case when I am reading or finished for the day very easily. When I bought my mom a Kindle for her birthday, I got her the same case as me, just in pink.

Protection: I give this a 4/5 because it does protect my Kindle well but it is a soft case so any hard hit will damage the Kindle if you are not careful. I usually wear cargo shorts so I just slip it into my side cargo pocket. I have slightly bumped into things but my Kindle is always fine. I have put it into my backpack a couple of times, and everything was fine. I have yet to drop my Kindle while in the case (or at all unlike my mother who has accidentally thrown her uncased Kindle across the parking lot) so I cannot comment on how well the case will protect the Kindle in that instance. If I ever do, I'll edit my post to include that.

Water Resistance: I give this a 5/5, not because of anything I did to my case, but what happened to my mother's case. My dad was reaching for a remote on my mom's side table, knocked over her glass of coke which split right onto her case and her Kindle was in the case. In panic, I lunged forward and got the Kindle out as soon as possible, only to find that it was perfectly fine. My mom got it and toweled off the excess coke before looking inside. The case wasn't even slightly wet on the inside. When I had to wash the outside my case (see why in the Out of the Box and Experience section), I put a paper towel inside and ran it under the sink faucet. I went around where all the seams were and all around the zipper part while rubbing the water into the case. I dried it and then took out the paper towel which was completely dry. So, I think that the case is pretty water resistance. I think if you were to get to the case quickly, then it will protect the Kindle from getting wet.

Case Style: I give this a 4½/5 because I do like the case. It is sturdy and does what it advertizes. The zipper is strong and opens/closes well. There is a nice grip action, however, I wish there was a strap on the back of the case so that when you carry it, your hand can go through the strap for a more secure grip without squeezing too hard. On the inside, there is some extra protection by the way of a raised so that when you zip the case closed, it cannot scratch up the Kindle. Overall, the case is well designed and does exactly what you need it to do.

Feel: I give this a 5/5. The case feels well made and it does not feel as if it was cheap. The main fabric on the outside feels nice and has some grip to it. The rubber grip in the middle has a nice feel to while it provides two things, one-a better place to grip and two-it offers a little more protection for the Kindle screen for where you grip the case. The inside is very soft so you know the Kindle and the screen will not be scratched by the inside.

Out of the Box and Experience: Before buying the case, I read the few reviews that there had been. A couple of them said that the case smelled coming out of the box; which, in my case, was true. The case did smell of chemicals or something. I let it air out for several hours and the smell went away. However, here is another warning. A few days after getting the case, I had been reading for pleasure before I had to read a DTB (Dead Tree Book) for school. I put away the Kindle in the case and pulled the large book to me. I licked my fingers so I could turn the pages in the book and instantly a horrible taste filled my mouth. So, the moment you get the case, I would recommend that you wash it to avoid what happened to me. Washing it will remove that unpleasantness.

Overall, the use of the case has been great. I've had it for about five months now and I have used it pretty regularly. I have not seen any wear or tear from constant unzipping and zipping up or handling of the case, and it goes in and out of my backpack or cargo shorts' pocket frequently. It is a very sturdy case that is fairly cheap. - Kindle 3 Covers - Kindle Covers - Belkin - Kindle Sleeve'

Portable Tv - kitchen tv, digital tv

I bought this TV to use in the kitchen, intending to hook it into my DISH satellite system. Although the box indicates it will work with "cable", this is not exactly the case.

After messing with this for about a week, I finally realized it had no pre-set channels on it. Therefore, I could not set it to channel 3 or 4 so it could receive the signal from my DISH box. I called Philips Customer Support and confirmed this.

This TV will only work with systems that do not require a box to de-scramble the signal. If that is your intention you should be okay, and this little TV has an absolutely gorgeous picture.

I also suggested to Philips that hardly anyone is familiar with a TV without channels and they really should do a better job of advertising this on the box. I expect we'll see lots of these showing up at a reduced price in the "opened box" category. Like the one I am returning. Philips PT902/37 9" Portable Digital HDTV with FM Tuner

Setting it up took a long time. Setup did not come on automatically the first time I turned it on. Just press options, then make sure it is set to AIR if you are not hooking it up to cable....otherwise it won't receive any channels. Then select channel installation and do an automatic scan. If you don't get enough channels you can try rabbit ears or a better antenna. I used rabbit ears, but the plug on the TV is so restricted that it's very difficult to screw on most antenna connections. Terrible design there. I had to modify a push-on antenna connection with a Dremel tool so it would fit. I couldn't get some of the local channels on the included antenna or rabbit ears (rural area). I finally put the rabbit ears about six feet above floor height in a window and got good reception of local channels with an excellent picture. The remote is poor, with no volume control or on/off button. It does have mute. Sound is what you would expect from a small TV, but acceptable. After all that I am very happy with the TV.

Great picture quality. It takes a bit of time to figure out how to program the channels but besides that, the TV is worth its cost. The TV does not require a converter box to tune the local air channels. It is a great small portable TV for the kitchen use or for taking with you to places. The FM radio feature and cable TV capabilities are a plus as well.

I bought this tv as a gift for my sister to replace a bulky 9 inch tv in her kitchen but as mentioned in another review, this tv will not work with a cable or sattelite box so it did not work for her. She llives in a rural area so just using it for over the air channels would not work either. Unfortunately I didn't give it to her until after the time to return it had passed so I am stuck with it. I can get local channels in my area but am still not happy with this product. The picture is fair but I have noticed you have to be at just the right angle to see it clearly. Also, there are no buttons on the tv to change the channel so you have to use the remote to do that which seems silly since the thing is so small and sitting right in front of you.

Cable TV to expensive, this could be the set for you, i work 3rd shift so i don't get to watch to much TV,..anyway i ordered this after seeing what a good picture it had at thanksgiving dinner over my brother's..for $89.00 it's a great deal,i keep mine plugged up all the time, so the antenna is in a stationary position all of the time,.. i have not tested the battery life,i have not had a reason to take it any where yet so i can't comment on the battery life. The only time i had trouble with receiving channels was when the weather was bad outside! The FM tuner is pretty good also, the overall sound quality is good,...I'm very satisfied with this little TV

Several of us at work purchased this for our boss. He loves it! He has it mounted on the wall in the bathroom so that he can catch up on all the news as he gets ready each morning. He said the picture quality and reception are excellent.

Some design flaws: Why is there no On/Off button or Volume control on the remote? We use the TV in the kitchen and because of where we have it, it's a pain to have to use the slide off/on switch on the left side of the tv, and to have to use the rolling wheel volume control located just above it.

Changing from channel to channel takes a couple of seconds. There can be a lot of delay in the response from the remote...sometimes it just stalls out.

Set up is not intuitve. Manual does not tell how to add Favorite channels...had to call support.

The picture is okay. Seems to get good reception via the antenna. Sound is okay.

Overall for the price, it's decent. If they had the on/off and volume on the remote, probably would give it 4 stars. - Digital Tv - Dtv Ready Portable Tv - Lcd Tv - Kitchen Tv'

Detailing - microfiber cloths, cleaning

I clean homes for a living (Love It); and have been using microfiber cloths for several years. As I like to try new products for my profession, I have cleaned with several different types and brands. This brand, in my opinion are by far the best ones I've ever used.

Previously I used the Zwipes and had thought they were great until I tried these. If you are a serious clean freak or a 'detail' person, or simply find yourself with a 'rag' in your hand a lot, you can't go wrong with these.

Very seldom do I write reviews, but I just had to oooze about this one. Eurow Microfiber Cleaning Cloths 12" X 16" 300GSM - 36 Pack

These towels are high quality. They are excellent for dusting (they actually pick up the dust instead of spreading it) and cleaning. We use these in lieu of paper towels. When dirty, just wash them in the washing machine.

We bought these for cleaning. The price on Amazon seemed very good to us. They are great! We love them for dusting, cleaning, dishes, cleaning eye glasses. We even used one to clean up a toner mess from our laser printer--it just picked up the dry toner in the dry cloth and held onto it until we washed the cloth. Durable and low-lint. We love these towels. - Microfiber Cloths - Cleaning - Detailing - Microfiber'

Noise Cancelling - noise cancelling headphones, headphones

Initial impressions (may add more later on) - currently my rating is ~3.5, leaning towards 3 instead of 4:

This model seems to targeting the lower-end models of other brands, Sony's and JVC's mainly. I have to admit, compared to them, it performs better. (the same can also be said for ATH-ANC1, as it is targeting the market for the highly popular Sennheiser models and in my opinion, Audio Technica did pretty well in that aspect)

Noise-canceling is there, but so is the hissing. Unlike the more expensive ATH-ANC7 model, this model introduces a fair amount of hissing. But, since the hissing stays at a constant level and does not vary in time unlike other noise-canceling headphones (like all the Able-planet models that I tried), it does not have the potential of causing headaches, so for me this is acceptable. The performance of the noise-canceling is also acceptable. I think, if you exclude the hissing, the performance is similar to the ATH-ANC7 model (cannot say it is a golden standard but pretty close).

Regarding the design, well, not unexpectedly it is also on the lower-end of the scale. I think the outer layer of the cups is designed fairly well. The problem is mostly related to the padding. Also, they kept the size of the padding section of the earcups pretty small, so unless you have small ears, you may have hard time fitting inside. Also the material used for the padding is a bit on the tougher side. It is not soft and that means longer listening periods may become quite uncomfortable. I am guessing the same material is also used for the headband, which gives an enhanced discomfort effect! (frankly, right now, it feels like a tough object sitting on top of my head, instead of making itself fit nicely to the environment)

On the good side, the construction seems to be good, so unlike the currently-expired Logitech noise canceling headphones, I don't think it is going to break any time soon. Also, for the battery placement, I am glad they followed the second generation ATH-ANC7 model, and make it easier to replace the battery.

The accessories that come with the item are the same as the other models (a hard-shell case, airplane adapter, etc.). But, since this is a given for almost all the newer models, it is not a differentiating feature anymore. The only interesting thing I noticed is that the cable has a locking feature. You can lock the cable end that is inserted into the headphone. I don't know whether this is a needed feature or not, but maybe it was for some people.

I was planning to write about the audio quality after I use it for the next few days. But, after a few hours of use, it became really tiring for my ears. It feels as if the headphone is not only canceling the lower-frequency noise outside, but the lower frequency audio on the inside too. Interestingly the audio sounds better, when the noise-canceling feature is not turned on (at least it sounds more comfortable). When the noise canceling feature is on, the high-frequency content is enhanced more than needed (possibly, a side-effect of the hissing). You can change the settings of the audio player to reduce that effect, but it would have been better if that was not needed in the first place.

At the current price range, I can say it is a fairly acceptable model. If they hadn't missed the mark regarding the comfort and the sound, I would have given this model a 4.5...

(And if I were Audio Technica, I would reduce the price of this headphone and change its title to Quiet-Discomfort...Who knows, it may actually help them sell this product...) AUDIO TECHNICA ATH-ANC27 Noise-Canceling Headphones

I purchased a set of Audio Technica ATH-ANC27 Noise Canceling headphones five months ago because I was working in noisy places and also doing a fair amount of traveling. I have found these headphones to be a reasonable compromise between low end headphones and the high end $300 Bose models.

This type of noise canceling technology is best at counteracting smooth, steady sounds such as the incessant roar of the jet's engines, or the whir of a computer server's fans. When you put them on and turn on the switch, these sounds magically disappear. Conversations and other random types of noises are muffled but do not disappear.

When you travel by air twice a week, as I am doing, noise canceling technology really makes a difference. It just makes the flight time go by faster and more pleasantly. Similarly, when you are working in an office with lots of noise, it minimizes the noise and puts you into a kind of cocoon of privacy.

The phones use a single AAA battery and I have found that it lasts quite a long time. Typically I change the battery about every 2-3 weeks. I don't use the phones all day every day, but probably about 20 hours a week, so I would say it uses power very efficiently. An LED indicates when the phones are on (unfortunately it makes it easier for flight attendants to spot it and make you turn them off during takeoff/landing, silly though it sounds). The on/off switch is easy to find with your fingers and the phones do work if the battery's dead or the switch is off, albeit they don't sound quite as good and of course there's no noise canceling.

As headphones go, these are middle-of-the-road quality, with good bass and moderate high end. They come with a cable and several types of adapters for archaic airplane headphone jacks and 1/4" jacks. The cable is a standard stereo mini-jack at one end and a micro-jack at the other end to plug into the phones. Thus, you can wear the headphones without a cable hanging down if you just want to use them to muffle sounds. Note that this cable is rather specialized and you don't want to lose it. I think they should have used a regular mini-jack on the headphones. The phones do come with a rigid, zippered carrying case so you can keep all this gear together, and the earpieces rotate so it can lay flat.

The main problem I have found is that the phones are a little bulky and have a tight, heavy feeling on my head that gets annoying after a few hours. And after about two hours my ears start to get sore from the pressure. Bose makes a lightweight model that supposedly is quite comfortable to wear, but for $300 you would expect it to be pretty close to perfect. For $50, Audio-Technica is a reasonable alternative and you can save the $250 for a nice Android phone or iPhone or iPad to enjoy on the flight. - Noise Canceling Headphones - Noise Canceling - Headphones - Noise Cancelling Headphones'

Home Office - printer, wireless printer

Got this printer couple of weeks ago and it has been performing up to my expectation. I still cannot believe the price of this AIO printer. Even at the MSRP of $99 from Canon, it is still very well below a comparable unit from other brands. I like a good bargain, so originally I had 2nd thought on getting this because it was only $10 cheaper at Amazon than list price. However, after comparing other AIO printers with similar features like wireless, fax, auto-document feeder, this became a no-brainer.

Pros:

- AIO with fax.

- Mac friendly software

- Price point

- Sleek symmetric design vs. other brands (i.e. all trays are closable to create a neat look)

- Self opening output tray if tray is closed. I had other printers where if I forgot to open the output tray, the paper would just cumple up.

- Easy Wi-Fi setup

- reasonable replacement OEM ink cartridge prices.

- iPhone/iPod touch app for printing photos from your iPhone or iPod touch.

- USB cable included, useful and a must for initial setup

Cons:

- so far I have not been able to fax from my MacBook wirelessly, though faxing from PC wirelessly works.

- slow start-up like most other users have experienced

I have owned AIO printers from HP, Lexmark, and Epson before. This model by far has been the best price performance for me. Canon PIXMA MX340 Wireless Office All-in-One Printer (4204B019)

This is a good printer for the price. I had a little problem setting up the wireless because the manual is not very clear in the instructions but I was able to set it up. I work as an IT so I dont know if this is going to be a problem for others. Also, when I tried scanning to the PC wirelessly, I got an error message from the computer about the MP Navigator. I went to the product website and found out that you need to install a separate software to get the scan to PC to work. Now, everything works except for a couple of things that this printer/software leaves to be desired -

1. OCR only scans text into notepad. Scan to Word does not work.

2. When the color ink runs out, you can not even print B/W copies.

The print quality is good and it print fast but Canon needs to fix the above 2 issues. It just doesnt make sense. My older printer which is a Brother MFC 210C can scan to word and I can still print B/W even when one of the color inks run out.

My ancient HP G5 All-In-One finally croaked, so I ordered one of these. I didn't really expect it would be any good considering how cheap it is, but I have been pleasantly surprised. The construction is really excellent, and it looks a lot better than most of the flimsy competition I looked at from HP and the rest. There aren't any floppy pieces dangling off it waiting to get broken. I am using it with an iMac 30" running OS X 10.6.3.

Setup was fairly straightforward using the wireless connection. The manual takes about 50 pages to get round to telling you that all you need to do is hit the menu button on the printer and find the LAN sub-menu, then choose the network and enter the password. The software for the iMac pretty much installs itself.

The included software is good. This is usually a problem with Macs and printers/scanners, but not this time. The scanner will scan straight into Mail, or into your Pictures folder, in jpg, tiff, or pdf. The scans are excellent, much better than the stand-alone HP Scanjet I paid $300 for not so long ago. Print quality is quite good, and reasonably fast, but I really got this for scanning and faxing, with just light duty printing when I don't want to walk over to the laser printer.

I am still laughing to myself over the insane value this represents. I honestly can't remember ever getting such a great piece of gear so cheap. It cost more to buy the Airport Express that hooks it to the LAN. I have never posted a review on Amazon before, but this machine is just so great that I had to.

The Agony:

I've been setting up equipment all my life (and liking it!) and I've got to say this has some of the worst documentation I've ever come across. The printed manual is a joke, leaving out huge blocks of information.

I tried following the manual as long as possible, but after reaching a dead end, my best option was to tinker and hope for a friendly user interface. Fat chance.

Another reviewer had mentioned disregarding the first 50 pages of the manual and setting up the wireless via the LCD display. That was the best advice I'd had all day. Even so, entering the router password was hardly intuitive, especially with caps, lower case, and special characters involved. Hint: cycle through the character types via the * key.

It turns out that the documentation on the installation CD is more complete, though it has more twists and turns than a plate of spaghetti. In Canon's defense, the machine does have a lot of features--but that's still no excuse.

Some of the CD contents seems unnecessary, especially for Mac users. At least Canon allows a custom installation and a pretty good explanation of what you are (or aren't) installing.

I'm used to scanning from within Photoshop and believe it or not, that is possible. I found a plugin and manually installed it in the appropriate Photoshop folder. It worked.

Obviously, Canon won't make any money on this until you go through a few ink cartridges. And judging from the small size of them, finding a reasonable price is a must. If you're considering this machine, remember it locks down functions when the ink is gone AND it uses color ink even when printing / copying in b/w.

The Ecstasy:

Print quality is simply outstanding, and that's coming from a longtime graphic designer who's very particular about output. My first page was for a final logo design and everything was flawless (on Konica glossy stock). No jaggies at all, even under magnification.

The scanner quality was passable and extremely quick (150 dpi color scan 6x4) taking 10-15 seconds. I expect better results once I have a chance to tinker with the software.

My wireless network was automatically recognized and integrated once the password entry glitch was overcome.

For me, the bottom line of quality and value far outweighs the gruesome setup and ongoing costs.

July 12 edit:

After recently installing Adobe CS5, I learned that the Canon scanner plugin (and all scanner plugins, for that matter) will not work with Photoshop CS5's Import menu. It has to do with the switch to 64-bit. So now I can either open Photoshop CS3 to scan within PS or use Canon's funky included scanning software. This isn't Canon's fault, but it is something you should know. - Canon - Canon Multifunction - Wireless Printer - Printer'
