Leather Banded - carrera, tachymeter

It's handsome. The face is large, and the case is thick in line with today's trend to larger and heavier watches. My prior watch was a very thin twenty five year old Raymond Weil, but the change has been easy.

Here's what I think you'll want to know:1. This watch looks great. The details are just right. Handsomer on your wrist than in a photo. It can be had in white face, with metal band, etc, if you prefer.

2. Large face means Day/date and the second hand counter (at nine o'clock position) are easy to see.

3. Waterproof. My watch is often under gloves or at least splashed with water many times daily. There is an option for a handsome rubber strap, too.

4. The buckle adjusts on the strap so you can precisely choose your fit. It's not plus or minus one link, no jeweler required. You can adjust it anytime in seconds.

5. Amazon is not an authorized dealer. So you won't find a TAG Heuer warranty card in the box. Amazon provides their own two year warranty which covers pretty much everything. That's double TAG's one year warranty. I find it has advantages over the "authorized" deal. I am comfortable with it because Amazon is trustworthy in my experience, and they are everywhere. Not so TAG dealers. This is the trade off for the better pricing. You decide if you are comfortable with it.

6. You have a 30 day return window. This was key for me.

7. Amazon's customer service for fine watches is different. Very impressive. They call and email you, and you have a toll free number to call without the usual procedure used to get a call back from customer service.Someone commented that Amazon's price is $600 too high. I haven't found better from a dealer one can trust. Kudos to anyone who does. Let us know! TAG Heuer Men's CV2A10.FC6235 Carrera Automatic Chronograph Day-Date Watch

bought this watch about a month ago and it is beautiful! watch works perfect! haven't a problem but only reason why I gave 4 stars is because I got a 2 year limited warranty through amazon and not Tag. Meaning if anything would happen I would have to ship it to a dealer through amazon instead of Tag. But not planning on having a problem within a year which is what Tag's warranty is. - Leather Banded - Chronograph - Carrera - Tachymeter'

Smokedetector - smoke alarms, smoke detector

I bought 2 of these alarms to replace a couple other alarms in my home as they were about 15 yrs. old & thought it might be wise to "update". The long-life lithium batteries was a real selling pont to me. The one thing that concerns me about these new detectors is that aren't nearly as sensitive as my old detectors were. My wife ocassionally burns things while cooking, or gets the oven too hot. My old detectors would "go off" when this happened. These new ones have not signalled when this happens but the old ones still do. I tested the new ones by heating an iron skillet on the stove with a bit of grease in it. LOTS of smoke bellowed out, the old detectors sounded immediately but it took a couple minutes longer and a lot more smoke for the new ones to finally signal. Hope this isn't over-reaction on my behalf but I sort of like the sensitivity level of the older detectors compared to the new ones. First Alert SA305CN Smoke Alarm with Long Life Lithium Battery

After reading that smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years, and not knowing the age of some in the house, we replaced them all with these devices. They're inexpensive, and if they operate as advertised the lithium battery will cost less than 10 years worth of alkalines. Besides, I get tired of getting out the ladder for the one in the high ceilinged room and with these there's no worrying about remembering to change the batteries. I just wrote the month and year installed with a Sharpie on the one in the basement and we'll replace them in a decade or so.

I was happy to see this model come out with a long life Lithium battery. I have about 4 of these in my home and it annoys me to have to change batteries at 4:00am to stop the chirping. Installation is simple, detector is loud and easy to operate. Worst complaint is the ugly design as it looks a bit too industrial for indoor use.

My experience so far with this smoke detector (which I've owned for about 3 months): It has gone off twice. One time was because I burned something in the oven. This did create a significant amount of smoke, and the smoke detector is placed near the entry to the kitchen. Although an inconvenience, I was glad that it went off. There is a button on the face of the detector to quickly silence it when this happens. The other time was after I took what must have been a particularly lengthy, hot shower. I was a little disappointed that this set off the alarm, but I have had similar experiences with other alarms. I think it is merely poor placement on my part (so close to the bathroom when I don't have an exhaust fan).

Overall, I think it works fine.

I replaced several of my old smoke detectors with the First Alert SA305CN, and it was quick and easy. These are "no frills" basic detectors, but the lithium 9V is a nice addition. While the lithium batteries will last much longer than alkalines, don't trust them to last 10 years. Even so, it saves a lot of trouble of having to change the alkaline 9V every year, especially if you have it mounted on very high ceilings.

Connect the battery, attach to ceiling, and sleep soundly. What could be simpler?

The California building code requires smoke detectors as follows:

1. On the ceiling or wall outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of bedrooms.

2. In each room used for sleeping purposes.

3. In each story within a dwelling unit, including basements but not including crawl spaces and uninhabitable attics.

This seems to work really well - no false alarms thus far.

The reason you bought this model was because it comes with a 10 year battery. That is pretty much the selling point for this and I'll have to report back in ten years to tell you how well it lived up to the hype.

One flaw, and the reason I deducted one star, is that it is not really obvious which direction the battery goes in ( + and -) when installing. I guess it really only fits one way, but there are no indications of which side is which.

Also - not sure if this is in the description - the base removes for easy installation.

I bought these smoke detectors because they have the lithium batteries included. I like the idea of not having to change out the batteries for long periods of time. I would have gone with the type you wire into your home electricity, but the locations I needed to place the detectors were not conducive to hard-wiring. They seem to work ok. Haven't had to really use them yet...knock on wood. - First Alert - Smokedetector - Smoke Alarms - Smoke Detector'

Worlds Best Pen - gel pen, worlds best pen

Normally I'm a grab-whatever's-nearest kinda gal, but I've started keeping track of this pen. I carry it with me. I use it for everything from taking notes at meetings to jotting down lists to doodling sketches for design projects. It's not a drafting-quality pen - the gel ink dries just slowly enough to smear if you're in a frenzied hurry, but it does dry much faster than most gel pens (oh Gelly Roll, our affair was cut short by your messy habits). Smooth, even ink flow -- none of that fading-in-and-out nonsense. This pen allows a strong, sassy style. I can't believe I'm putting a box of pens on my wishlist, but these really are my favorite thing to write with. I find myself writing unnecessary lists *just to use the pen*. Pentel EnerGel Liquid Gel Pen, Medium Metal Tip, Silver Barrel, Black Ink, Box of 12 (BL17-A)

This really is probably the best pen I've written with. It writes very smoothly..no scratchy feel. The ink is dark and dries instantly. With other dark writing pens, if you accidentally drag your hand through what you've written, you wind up with ink all over your hand and a smeared page. Not with this pen. I am amazed!

All the other 5 stars have extolled the dark ink, smooth flow and other great characteristics of these pens. I just want to add that I do crosswords in ink, in bed, and these pens do NOT stop writing when the point is higher than the barrel. I remember the story of picking the Fisher pen that was developed to write in space in the sixties: I bet this one would do the trick! Absolutely the best pen I have ever owned. And yes, hard to find in the previously wide distribution so hopefully not on the slate for discontinuing!

I'm no pen fanatic but I do hate cheap pens.

My G-2 Pro recently crapped out on me, and the refills for a .38 tip (AMAZING BTW) cost more than 4 of these. I am extremely right-handed, so smearing is a problem for me as I tilt my paper 20-50 degrees to the left.

I personally love professional-stlyed pens, and this pen doesn't look too good. I would love to see a stainless-steel or aluminum version of this pen, without the bulky cap.

The grip is nice and grippy, as expected. No slipping at all.

8/10 stars. Would like to see a finer point like .5mm in stores. .7 is only in stores.

Yep, call me another oddly attracted fan. They write smoothly,

easily and boldly. I got them because the gel is the safe type

that can't be easily dissolved off of checks by would-be forgers,

like typical ball-point inks can. It never smears for me (a leftie),

and it never blobs up at the start or has a varying/fading line.

This is my absolute favorite pen! I don't know, it's just something about how it writes. I regret that I gave half of my supply to my husband, LOL. I have already used all of mine, and I want to steal his back...but I guess I'll just buy some new ones. :-)

Pentel is my new favorite gel pen. I used to only use uni-ball, but lately all my uni-balls have been getting scratchy and seeming to run out of ink even though the gel level is still high. These Pentels are smooth and write very well. I've ditched all my uni-balls for this. Pentel rocks! - Worlds Best Pen - Gel Pen'

Trouser Socks - trouser socks

These socks are great!! After buying Gold Toe casual socks for years, I decided to try these and I'm very pleased. They are lightweight, but not thin like hose. I'm 5'7" and they fit about an inch below the knee. Gold Toe Women's Micromodal Trouser 3 Pack,Black,9-11

I wear primarily slacks to work, and trouser socks are a must. These are good quality, comfortable, and TALL ENOUGH! I have relatively long legs, and these easily come up to my knees. They're thin enough for dressier shoes, but not flimsy.

I was delighted with the sock's design as a trouser tub sock because having big feet makes it practically impossible to find sock that fit. But the first pair I wore ended up with a hole in the toe, the second pair left my feet black and the third pair I got a hole and black feet. I had washed prior to wearing so black feet were really not acceptable and the since the toe was not reinforced, holes happened after the first wearing.

I would not recommend this product. - Trouser Socks'

Cold Weather Gear

It didn't fit. So I thought, no problem - I'll just send it back and exchange it for the correct size. But no exchanges! To get another one, I had to pay an additional $20+ for it. I did it this time, but never again. And from now one I will read the fine print on everything I order! I was not thrilled with Amazon this year. Caterpillar Mens Heavy Insulated Parka, Black, Medium

I'd been looking for a heavy coat for a while as it gets cold here in Maryland during the winter months and my down jacket was coming apart. I'm also anemic so I get cold very easily. I didn't want to spend a ton of money but I still wanted a something nice and fucntional. I figured if Caterpillar could make good heavy machinery then they could make a good coat. [^_^]

It most certainly keeps you warm. Even when it's gusty it does the job very well. I like that the sleeves are wind proof. There's a good seal with the stretching inner cuff in the arm. There are lots and lots of pockets to keep all your things in both inside and out. I like the security pockets in between the flaps closest to the main zipper.

I would rate this coat @ a 4.5 out of 5.The only points off are for the main side pockets on the front of the coat. They're lined to keep your hands warm but they could be angled a bit to be more ergonomically positioned. If they were tilted a bit even at a degree angle these pockets would be awesome. Also it gets really warm during normal walking. That might be just me because my internal temp gauge is broken haha That's just nit picking though. It's a solid coat/parka.

Although not as puffy as I might have wanted, the coat is surprisingly warm and definitely windproof. Just after receiving it we had temps of 17 degrees F. with wind chill of -10. I was out photographing the recent snow and the coat kept me pretty comfortable. The pockets are a bit too small to store bulky hat or gloves in though.'

Pen Refills - fisher space pen, bullet pen

This refill will fit most Fisher pens and has an adapter for use in Parker pens. I use it in a pen that has a Parker refill and it works great. It will right on most surfaces even greasy and slick ones. It will write when other pens won't. Fisher Space Pen SPR4F Black Ink Fine Point Refill

This has got to be the best refill fisher makes. I love fine tip pens, but it is hard to find a good one. These are smooth, fine, and come on... it's a space pen. Not much more to be said... BUY IT!

And no I don't work for any of these companies. Just a consumer.

I love Space Pens. They give so much geek cred. Anyone can have a Montblanc or a nice Parker, but Space Pens are for those "on the know". This are their refills, they fit perfectly on the pen (and they ARE the actual pen, since this is the part that has the upside-down-writing properties).

There's not much to it.

What else is there to say ? It's pressurized ink, that can write in space, underwater, and anywhere else nutty that you want to give it a go. Enjoy. You wont be disappointed. Chuck Norris was even impressed.

Great product when it is new. I would give it 5-stars, however... as they age, they have a real tendency tocollect a blob of ink at the tip that must be wiped away before you start to write. I don't know if it is because the cartridge is pressurized or what. It has happened to me with the last 3 or 4 refills. I love the size of the pen. It fits in the pocket of my pants. - Space Pen - Bullet Pen - Fisher Space Pen'

Blue Topaz - blue topaz, jewelry

The earrings are nice, but not blue like the picture. They are a very light ice blue, almost white. Only a very, very small hint of blue. The stones are large and the base/basket is very deep, so they sit off the ear a lot. Otherwise, nicely made etc. Just not blue. Sterling Silver Blue Topaz Oval Earrings

These earrings are just the right size, perhaps a bit bigger, for studs. They are a lovely shade of NATURAL (not color treated) light blue. Great for the summer, but fine for the winter. The settings are very sturdy and the gems sparkle. At this price, I would treat myself and think ahead to the holidays and the December birthdays. These would make a magnificent gift, paired with the available ring and pendant, for a special person!

I bought these earrings as a present for a girlfriend of mine who likes big stud earrings. When these arrived, they were significantly smaller than what I expected - to be fair, Amazon does have their dimensions written down, but I did not have my millimeter ruler handy & from the pictures provided, I assumed they were going to be larger. The color of the earrings that I received was not as vivid as the picture - the earrings I received were a very pale blue, unlike the radiant blue pictured. The earrings are beautiful and well-made, just not quite what I was expecting.

Amazon sells good gemstones for the price. The quality is better than mall kiosk stores and department stores in this price range. I like the large stones because I have large ear lobes. These may not be comfortable if you have small lobes.

They are beautiful, I thought that they would be a little smaller I was getting them for my second piercings in my ears and they are too big for that. Other wise the color is great and the pics just don't them justice.

Amazon provide a very accurate description, complete with dimensions, of these earrings. They don't tell me if the stone is natural, and digital images can make colors look better than reality. However, my disappointment with the earrings is simply that I didn't look to make sure I knew what I was buying.

This is perfect jewelry for a young girl, but probably too demure for a more mature lady. - Blue Topaz - Jewelry - Stud - Jewlery'

Bosch Icon Wiper Blades - wiper blade, bosch

For more than 30 years, I've searched high and low for the perfect wiper blade. Being a little tiny bit obsessive about my car, one of the things I can NOT tolerate is a chattering, noisy, smeary, streaky wiper blade. Driving in the rain is hard enough without feeling like you're trying to look through a wax-paper windshield.

In the past, I'd put new wiper blades on my car two or three times a year and sometimes more, just to make sure I never had to deal with wiper smear or worse, wiper chatter. That sound is like fingernails on a blackboard to me!!

I'd also clean the rubber edge several times between blade changes, to keep the leading edge clean and free from debris and gooey tree gunk and junk. Due to my desire to keep the finest quality blades on the car, I'd only buy authentic Toyota blades for my 2003 Camry and then one day...

An associate at the local Toyota dealer talked me into buying the rubber inserts for the blades, rather than the whole blade assembly. For 20 minutes, I waited and watched as she fiddled around trying desperately to get the inserts into the arm assembly. Two days later (and 10 minutes of use later), while driving in a light rain storm, the whole thing came apart in pieces, scratching my windshield in the process. It was a Sunday afternoon (dealer was closed), so I drove directly to the auto parts store and told them I wanted the most expensive wiper-blade they sold. They took me to the Bosch Icon and said, "these are the best, but they're pricey."

I couldn't be more pleased with the quality and performance of this product. The two blades I bought for Cammie cost less than $50 which isn't THAT much contrasted against the frustration of not being able to see clearly through the windshield when it rains.

April 2008 UPDATE: I am on my second pair of Bosch Icons and I'm saddened to say that I am no longer "raving" about these things. While they're just swell for the first 60 days, they deteriorate quickly after that and become streaky and smeary. When I was buying wiper blades for my daughter's car, I asked the auto parts guy about the Bosch Icon. He replied, "I'm not that impressed with them either. They don't last long." Bosch 424A ICON Wiper Blade - 24"

I just installed my second set of Bosch ICON wiper blades on my BMW. As with the previous set, they perform beautifully in rain, silently clearing a completely streak-free path, as expected. They also work as advertised, preventing snow and ice build-up in throughout the extremes of Minnesota winters. The clean look and security provided by the latching hook cover is an added bonus.

However, their lifespan is limited: both ICON blades began leaving hairline streaks after 12 months' use, so I replaced them with another set of ICONs. Why the ICONs again? I did my own little CR testing over the past year on our vehicles, comparing the Bosch ICONs with the Trico and Anco competitive models. The ICONs offered cleaner wiping through rain and snow (when new), plus have a slightly better appearance installed. The Trico and Anco blades provided a more consistent performance as they aged, but I preferred the cleaner wiping performance of the ICONs over the longer lifespan of the Trico and Anco blades.

In other words, you can decide for yourself which is more important: shorter-term performance or longevity. If you are willing to sacrifice a bit of longevity for superior performance, the ICONs are the ideal choice!

I bought a pair of these Bosch wiper blades for my 2010 Ford Fusion and they are pretty much shot at 3 months. This blade leaves streaks and smears on most of the driver's side which I think is due to the length of this blade. This happens even though I clean the windshield and blades often. The shorter passenger side seems to wipe better but is still not great. The driver's side blade has now developed a nick in the blade resulting in a bead of water that is never removed from my field of vision. I actully put the original blades back on and they perform better than the Bosch blades ever did. I recommend not buying these blades.

After thorough research I bought these in late 2009 to replace stock blades on a 2006 Honda Pilot. They worked well for about 3 months and then started streaking and skipping (very annoying on long drives). The stock blades worked much better. I am now replacing and would not recommend this Bosch ICON model for any SUV.

UPDATED Review - June 3, 2011. In my original comment on these Bosch ICON blades, I was generous awarding 2 stars. I finally replaced these blades in April 2011 with Good Year Assurance blades, and I am sad that it took me so long to do so. With the Bosch blades I cringed every time it rained as they were very streaky and failed to remove water from the wind screen. I had to constantly adjust my seated position so I could see the road through the streaks. These new Good Year blades made a 'day and night' difference.

The ICON wipers are the best I've used. Do not pay attention to the fit guide. It can be misleading. My recommendation is to check out user forums for your vehicle and ask if anyone else has used them. I drive a BMW X5. The ICON fit guide says they do not work for the 2005 model year. This is simply not true. I removed my factory wipers and replaced them with these with no problem.

Installation is VERY easy. No more clipping wires, changing inserts, threading rubber through metal. Put this wiper assembly on, clip it in and you're done. Yes, they are more expensive than replacing inserts, but they are worth it.

As far as the quality of the "wipe," it is very good, but not perfect. Better than most I have tried, and thus the 4 star review. But I noticed some faint lines and streaks, just like most other wipers. My first set lasted 1 year and probably could have been longer. Overall a nice product. - Wiper Blade - Best Wipers - Bosch Icon Wiper Blades - Bosch'
