Bellydance Fitness - bellydance fitness, amira

This is the DVD to get for your first bellydance instruction workout. I can't say enough good things about it, but let me start. First, the production values are high. The setting is lovely and restful, with beautifully sensuous pillows and gauzy drapes hanging in the background. The music is exotic and hypnotic, and Amira's voice and pleasant accent make you feel you're on a nice vacation, far from your own stressful world. The exercises are explained carefully and done slowly, so that you can pick them up. They are filmed in such a way that you can see the movement (no cutting away to a face while you are trying to figure out what the hips are doing.) There is a warm-up at the beginning and a gentle stretch at the end. If you skip the combination, which you might want to do at first, while you're learning the movements, you can do the whole dvd in an hour. The sections are short enough so as not to tire you out or frustrate your beginner's attention span. At some point this workout might become too basic, but I suspect I would always want to come back to it sometimes, on days when I'm not feeling so strong, or when I just want to de-stress. I love this DVD, and I hope Amira makes more! Amira's Bellydance 101 Belly Dancing Basics For Beginners - Bellydance Fitness - Amira - Belly Dance Dvd - Bellydance Dvd'

Corolla Door Handle - handle, corolla

Great price, and a quick and easy installation. A very slight difference in the color shade from my original handle, but that's probably because my old ones are a bit faded from parking in the sun. It's certainly close enough for a 14 year old car, and the fit is perfect. The only thing keeping me from giving this five stars is that it didn't come with instructions, but a quick search of Google and eHow did the trick. Also worth noting are the previous few comments -- it does NOT come with a mounting screw, and the job is much easier if you don't drop the rod inside the door panel. If only all car repairs were this simple and inexpensive! Dorman 79500 Interior Left Hand Door Handle

Just what I was looking for, and it fits perfectly.

Just unscrew the old broken handle, and insert the new one, no need to take the whole door panel off.

Simply 5 minute do it yourself job.

Toyota dealership wanted $40 for the same thing.

I got mine in two days with prime membership too!

Thanks!

This handle is exactly like the OEM. It fit perfectly, and only took one minute to replace. You do NOT need to remove the entire door panel to replace this handle. Just remove the screw in the center of the handle and slide the handle towards the front (towards the dash). It will unclip from the door frame. Then just remove the rod from the small yellow clip. Don't drop the rod, or you will have to fish it out from the door frame. Pop the new one on the same way and BOOM, your done!

I'm a relatively handy person but car repair can be daunting - even cosmetic things. I've been riding round with two missing interior door handles for the past 5-6 months. Both driver side handles gave out and I've been pulling on the little metal hook to open the doors since. I snapped these new handles in, screwed in one screw and was back in action! I really wish the handles came with a spare screw as I had lost mine. *If your handle gives out, KEEP the screw until you can order these! I'm sure I saved a ton of money by doing this myself.

When the door handle to my 2000 Toyota Corolla broke, I wasted a week corresponding with people on Craig's List and junk yards to no avail. I can't believe I found this on Amazon! It matches my car perfectly and was easy to install (thanks YouTube)!

I'm really happy with this item, super fast delivery, very nice package to protect the item from being damage, the instructions on the package were so clear I installed in 5 minutes, it took more time to extract the broken one than install the new one. The color of the handle match perfectly, no body can tell the handle was replaced. I'm honestly very happy with the purchase and will not hesitate to buy again from Dorman.

Thank you so much,

Federico

PS- I forgot to mention the price, which it was great too!...No complains, highly recommended.

Not an exact match to the OEM color/size/quality on my '99 Corolla, but it fits fine and functions well. It's not OEM price and that's all I cared about.

I didn't remove the entire door panel, just the 1 screw in the handle, slide handle towards front of car, pull out. The little white plastic retainer rotates to release the metal bar. I couldn't figure it out until I saw the replacement, but it's quite easy. Snap the new handle in, place back in door, replace screw. Took me 5 minutes.

I'll update this review if I have any durability problems.

I was looking for a door handle for my 2002 Chevrolet Prizm, but could not find one in tan made specifically for that model. Since the Chevy Prizm is really a Toyota Corolla with a different name and grille, I took a chance on this part and was pleased to find that it was a perfect replacement. The part has a quality feel and installation was fairly easy with a screwdriver and needle nosed pliers. One hint is to make sure to have the door lock in the locked position. It makes pulling the wire that connects to the handle easier. - Corolla - Handle - Interior - Door Handle'

Canon Photo Printer - canon ink, photo printer

I own the Canon Selphy CP760 Pink Compact Photo Printer (3255B001) and this item is everything I need in one complete package. It comes with three sets of ink/paper cartridges. Each cartridge can print up to 36 photos giving you a total of 108 colored photos after using the 3 packs. I love the concept that the ink cartridge and paper fit in one convenient unit. Makes it so much easier and hassle free. The photos come out clear and vivid with no smudges. You get professional looking quality photos for less than 30 cents a print.

Amazon sells this at a great price, much better than any other online retailer. Canon KP-108IN Color Ink Paper Set (3115B001)

I love the Canon Selphy CP800. It was an EXCELLENT buy, so getting a well priced 108 sheet WITH ink... even better. Just be careful as to which seller you get it from. Some lack customer service, some rip you off on shipping (the package is a third of a shoe box) some are just plain over priced! BUT, the product itself is EXCELLENT!

I just received this printer yesterday and couldn't wait to test it out. I purchased it to print out pictures at our school holiday fair. It was so easy to set up and use that I didn't need the directions. I was amazed at the print quality of these pictures. The pictures were really photo lab quality. This is a great little printer to travel around with and make quick prints. The toner and paper is a little more pricey than other printers but worth every penny. The price of the printer was a great deal. - Canon Photo Printer - Printer Paper - Photo Printer - Canon Ink'

Suspense Thriller - action, adventure

Linked table of contents and formatting look and work great on my Kindle and also on my Ipod Touch.

This is fun stuff. If you like Tom Swift, Danny Dunn, or Tom Corbett, this is written in the same endearing way.

All six books match in quality, so if you liked the first book in this series, you'll like them all.

Ahh, the good old days where your word and honor counted for something... Great Marvel Collection: Volume One (Six Novels in One Volume)

It was about 72 years ago that I decided these books were too juvenile and too absurdly unscientific for me and gave them all away, They'd be worth a lot now! butt hat's not why I wish I'd kept them. They're fun, and they reflect a saner, happier time in this country, Some will find the black man's character racist, but he's a gifted engineer, and all treat him with respect.

Textbook - textbook, finance

This is a very good book on personal finance. It is laid out well and easy to understand. Unfortunately, once you get past the basics (personal budgeting, cash flow statements) and start getting into more specifics, the information contained within the book is no longer accurate. With the turmoil of both the banking and finance industries over the past few years, several parts of the book no longer contain accurate information. While I am not a fan of publishers releasing updated versions of their textbooks, this is a rare case in which a revised edition is warranted. Personal Finance

This book seems to be a good one for my class of Personal Finance. Can not say much more than that as I'm still reading it and still in the class. But it is a pretty easy book to read. It has lots of 'story problems' and tips and hints. Which breaks up the 'boring class' reading a lot I believe.

I would without a doubt purchase from this buyer again. Book arrived with some damage on the first few pages, however, the seller did not hide this as the damage was stated before I even purchased the product. Shipping was also very timely. - Textbook - Finance'

50 Inch - plasma, hdtv

I ordered this from Amazon for $694 and I got $10 off with a coupon I had plus the shipping was free and they brought it right up into my apartment so all I had to do was install it. The install is very simple just screw it into the stand, plug in all the wires and then there is an automated setup process so you just pick your options along the way.

The stand feels very secure, it's a big black platform about 2'x1.5' with steal rods that go up inside the TV and screw in, there are 3 screws in each rod that connect it to the platform and 2 in each that connect it to the TV. I was able to do all that by myself but just barely and I'm a pretty big guy so considering the size and weight of the TV it should be at least a 2 man job.

If you get the version with the built in Ethernet adapter you can connect to your Netflix, Pandora, Napster and a number of other sites to watch or listen to whatever you want.

Then of course the inputs, 2 HDMI, an SD Card reader, 1xRCA and 1xRCAHD, of course read the specs carefully because there are different versions of this same TV (i.e. one version with an Ethernet adapter and 1 without and there might be one that is also 3D ready but it might be more expensive then the one I'm reviewing)

The color and picture are beautiful, I play a lot of video games so picture quality was important to me, if you're a gamer this TV is for you. I play halo on Xbox 360 and one of my biggest issues was ghosting (when you look around too quickly and everything blurs) with this TV that issue is almost completely taken care of, there is still some blur but it's extremely mild.

As for the picture quality being 720p...well there a lot of people who will say a lot of stuff when it comes to the differences between 720p, 1080p, 720i and 1080i and I can only speak from experience but I do have a 23" computer monitor that is 1080p and I tried to play the same things on there that I did on the TV (and I have a very good computer with a high end graphics card) and yes I know it isn't a perfect test but it's the best I could do and from what I could tell there was very little difference. So in my opinion for the size, quality and price it's a very good deal.

The only real problem with it that I've noticed so far is that if you get too close things look...grainy almost like you can see black spots everywhere on it however if you are even 1ft away you can't see them at all and considering it's 50" I hope you're sitting at least 1ft away lol. Panasonic VIERA TC-P50X3 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV

This is my 2nd Panasonic plasma display and the quality of the picture is absolutely great. This TV gets 4 stars because the display has a glossy finish and not a matte finish. This matters in any room that has windows or lamps. You'll see the reflection of these light sources on the TV screen. Honestly I have no idea why anyone would want a glossy screen over a matte screen.

This is a 720p resolution TV, which is why the price seems low for a 50 inch TV. 1080p sounds great but in reality most folks are not watching _true_ 1080p content. Even with a lot of bluray content, the original content was a lower resolution (often DVD 480p) and it was simply rescanned into 1080p for the bluray disk. If you really want a 1080p TV, go for it of course. There is some true 1080p content out there and it looks great if you have a 1080p TV.

I purchased the P50X3 over a month ago so now I can give a fair review. Overall, for the price of the TV and size (50'), you can't get much better then this. I own another Panasonic Plasma (400U) and to compare picture quality, pretty much on par. The fact its 720p really makes no difference IMO. I play Blu Ray movies and unless you are completely picky about minute subtle differences, you really can't tell a difference. I have not yet had a chance to hook up this TV to my network for use with Netflix, but I have used my laptop with Netflix via HDMI and the quality of video is decent. My only "issues" with the TV is there is a slight glare I can notice at times. However, this is somewhat dependent on the location of my TV in the room with light and windows. My other "knock" is the sound quality compared to my other older Panasonic. My 400U Panasonic had amazing sound and I was hoping for similar sound with this TV. Now, I'm not saying the sound is bad, but it doesn't compare to my older model. It is still good (7 out of 10) versus (10 out of 10) of the other. In conclusion, if you are looking for a large HDTV for under $800, I would recommend this TV.

Thanks Amazon, for doing such a great job with my most recent purchase. I had never bought anything so large and costly by mail before, but now I'm a believer! Fast free delivery and outstanding price. The TV works fantastic and all my friends were quite impressed with how flawless this order was filled and delivered. The picture quality is very good and the TV looks well built. Lots of features that are on more expensive models are on this model as well. I'm a very satisfied customer and I wont hesitate next time I'm looking for a large item and I want the best deal in town.

TV was as described. Original one came with a broken screen however delivery crew repackaged and shipped back to amazon at no charge. Received a refund and reordered. Second TV came and works great!

My toddler loves >and I mean LOVES< watching all his HD pre-school shows on this big screen. The colors are very bright, the image sharp and the sound is superb. It has a media menu that I found to be very useful considering that I enjoy listening to Pandora radio, watching movies on Netflix and so forth I dont even need my computer to access all these pages I can sign up directly from my TV without the need of extra cables whatsoever :) Very nice!

I purchased my set in June, 2011 it's the beginning of September now and my set has worked for maybe three weeks altogether.

I had a TIVO HD connected to HDMI 1 and my computer to HDMI 2. These were the same connections that I used successfully on a Sony TV for three years. I worked fine for two weeks and then it stopped. I called Panasonic Service and they sent out a repair crew (from Tampa..a 200 mile round trip instead of using a local repair firm) and they told me that the main board had burned out. They said that Panasonic would send the replacement board to me and when I got it to call them and they would come back to install it...which they did.

One week later the main board burned out again. Now Panasonic has the nerve to tell me that it is my TIVO unit that is burning out the boards. They say that it is very common for any cable box or satellite receiver to burn out HDMI sockets. They said that they would replace the board this time but my warranty would be void after that. I was told to call a local repair company for service. The new company came and picked up my set to repair. They called me a week later and told me that Panasonic had changed their mind and would not pay for the repair and if I wanted it done it would cost me almost $400. I told them not to do the repair and they said that I still owed them $60. I will pay them the $60 just for the satisfaction on taking a hammer to that piece of junk.

In the mean time I had hooked up a 32" Sanyo that I moved from our kitchen with the same connections and again they worked fine. They are still working fine today. The problem is NOT with my TIVO unit. The problem is with the Panasonic set...and with Panasonic employees.

My advice....stay away from Panasonic products. Their customer service sucks!!! - Plasma - 720p - Hdtv - Panasonic 50 Inch Plasma'

Pearl Earrings - pearls, earrings

These pearl earrings are a good size, nicely round, color matched, and very well-priced. They look quite nice on but I was more than disappointed when a pearl fell off one of the posts just three weeks after I bought them. This isn't a case where they were worn every day or were abused. Fortunately, the pearl fell off into my hand so I can Crazy Glue it back onto the post. If it had happened while I was wearing them, I easily could have only 1/2 a pair. 14k Yellow Gold 8-8.5mm Freshwater Cultured Pearl Stud Earrings

I wanted a classic pair of pearl studs without making too big of an investment, and these fit the bill quite nicely. I was a little nervous that they were described as "semiround" but they certainly look nice and round. Great value, lovely earrings.

Beautiful pearl earrings! I needed a nice pair of pearls that wouldn't make my ears get infected. These are perfect! 14k yellow gold posts are gentle to the ears and the pearls are great for everyday wear.

I felt very comfortable ordering these pearl earrings sight unseen, after reading other reviews. I am very happy with the quality for the price. They are beautifully shaped and fit securely on the studs. I'm keeping my hair short just to show them off!

The pearls that I purchased are very lovely, just the right size.I would recomend these to everyone. I bought these for my wife, she said they are the perfect size, not to small or to big, lots of gold on the posts. bree1943

These pearl earrings have great luster and are substantial in size. The gold is substantial as well (the earring posts have adequate length and the buterfly backs fit snuggly on the posts). They are a great value for the price!! - Pearls - Freshwater Pearls - Earrings - Jewelry'

Reconditioned Tools - nail gun, framing nailers

This is the Cadillac of nail guns. Now that they make the offset full round head nails to go in the clipped head nail guns, you just can't beat this gun. The 100 nail magazine makes a big difference, you really notice how many fewer times you are reaching to refill the magazine. Also, the rafter hook works great. Toe-nailing tight spots is a little difficult, but I am very glad I bought this gun instead of one that shoots plastic collated nails. I was sick of the plastic pieces flying around and hitting me while I was working. The wire collated is a big improvement. Factory-Reconditioned Bostitch U/F28WW Clipped Head 2-Inch to 3-1/2-Inch Framing Nailer with Magnesium Housing

I have been using the older and heavier version of this gun for a while. When it came time to get another one I was a bit hesitant about the magnesium housing. My arm however is overjoyed. It has just as much balls as the older version. I have never had any trouble with this gun. I prefer the wire weld nails so there really was no other gun for me.

This thing is nice and light, the bottom of the magazine has a plastic cover that is pretty chewed up. It also came with a nice dent on the side of the magazine where you slip the nails into the back. This was causing the spring bottom to 'catch' and stop about 1/3 from the top of the magazine. I straightened out the metal with a pair of needle nose pliers enough to get the spring to move up and down freely.

Judging the overall condition, I'd say this unit was used at a construction site and was dropped from a good height, which broke it. The fall caused the damage to the base of the magazine and dented the side of it as well and probably broke the air hose nipple (the nipple looks new now). There are chips and scratches all over the main body.

It's a nice gun to work with, the light weight is noticable making this thing feel almost like working with a finishing nailer. Toe's in very nicely, weird angles are usually not a big problem. Handles smaller nails and large nails equally well.

The only other thing I would mention is that for a home user like me, nails aren't all that easy to find. The hardware man at Home Dpeot was baffled by my nail gun requirements, "28 degree wire collated? huh? We don't have anything like that...". Lowes didn't have any either. Ace does carry them (wierd in my opinion), but only one or two types, so you will have to order what you need. Probably better to special order them at a store than buy online and pay extra for shipping.

Have used this nailer for several months now and am very satisified.

No trouble finding nails as they are carried at local Home Depot and online from Amazon.

Pros: Works very well, no jams yet, for low volume usage a small compressor works ok, nails are available.

Cons: hard to use in tight places, exhaust will stir up a lot of dust in confined spaces, lost protective tip in about a week, falls off too easily.

I'd purchased this nailer from CPO which sold them reconditioned with a full factory 1-Year Warranty. Mine arrived and appeared like new, with hardly a scratch upon it. The only issue I'd noted was the nailer was missing the hanger-attachment which allows the nailer to be hung from a rafter when not in use. CPO assured me they'd remedy the situation, and a new attachment was sent within a few days. Overall I really enjoy the nailer, it's intuitive in its use, and a breeze to set the nails depth. It does have some kick-back, but it's not unmanagable, and I suppose it's to be expected when you trade weight in lieu of recoil. As for someone elses comments about the nailer be extinct due to Bostitch not having round headed nails... They're completely wrong! I researched this prior to purchasing the nailer, as I didn't want to buy something I couldn't use (i.e., not to code). Bostich offers round-head nails that are wire-collated @ 28 degrees and I'd purchased a box of them @ Lowes (same price as the 1/2 head, similar length). Overall, I'm quite happy, as I'd saved over $75 from our local merchants, and I have a nail gun that works like new!

I'm an avid DIY'er, not a professional so this is from that point of view. The gun showed up, looked new. Worked flawlessly. I've used it about a dozen times to build a deck and some knee walls. I have always been hesitant to buy a framing nailer, but so glad I did. I've had it about a month now and not a single issue. The only small issue I will note it the release for the nails (pull back to put in nails and then push the level to release the lock) is a bit stiff. I don't think it's defective, and it works, just takes a little doing. I really like this product and would highly recommend.

I bought this nailer before starting a large deck project. I've used a brad nailer for years, but never a framing nailer. I was totally geeked out by this thing! It must have cut my construction time in half. Nails and accessories are readily available at Lowes, Menards, etc. - Framing Nailers - Nail Gun - Reconditioned Tools - Nailer'

Ryobi 18 Volt Battery - rechargeable batteries, good

This review is for Damlow Prices aka DLOW - Total garbage! The item came used and open without original packaging which voids the warranty.(wrapped in a thin layer of bubble wrap) The batteries would not even hold a charge. If a seller wants to save money on shipping they should not unpack the items from their original box, and if they are that cheap then perhaps they should be selling on ebay and not Amazon.com. I wound up returning these and getting THE SAME PRODUCT at the Home Depot for under $46 (identical two pack, unused, and SEALED with warranty)No where in the description did it state at the time of my order that these were OPEN or USED and the 3 or 4 other people that left reviews about the price are 100% correct. Its a shame that with so many negative reviews this seller is still selling this garbage on Amazon.com (READ ALL OF THE REVIEWS PRIOR TO ORDERING) Ryobi 18v P100 Nicd Battery 2-pack

I received these two batteries loose in the box which seemed odd. They were not in the normal clear two pack plastic container. Both batteries will not hold a charge and are worthless. This certainly was not a good deal and I will never do any future business with that company.

These batterys work (for a short time) but have a very short charge life and deteriorate in charge life very quickly. I'm constantly changing and recharging whats left in the life of the batterys. Unfortunately I bought a Ryobi tool kit including 6 tools. The tools are OK but not very good quality and I will never buy Ryobi tools again because of the lousy batteries

The Ryobi 18 volt batteries 2 pack, only lasted 7 months. I would expect at least one year of use for a $75 battery pack . Used under normal conditions, no abuse,I have owned other brands that lasted a year and a half. I will no longer buy Ryobi tools in part for this reason .

Not sure some of the reviewers of the Ryobi Ni-cad battery understand that...

--- all Ni-cad batteries degrade over time regardless of the brand, get real.

I don't know about Amazon's source, but I buy mine at Home Depot...

--- all have lasted at least 2 years+ and I am on my 8th battery.

--- never had a failure out of the box, but if I did, no hassle return to HD.

I use my Ryobi tools on mission work where if I lose them, or others abuse them, I'm not out $250-$500...

--- some tools, like the big drill and impact driver, are better than the others...

--- and you can say the same about every other brand selling cordless tools.

Ryobi fills a niche; if you want the best, then spend the money on some other brand.

Since the product description did not state anything as to its condition, I innocently believed that it would be brand new. The batteries came in bubble wrap with no proper manufacturer packaging, instruction, or warranties. My new Ryobi charger did indicate that both were fully charged without any complication, but I haven't actually tried them yet and don't know how they will perform. So much disappointment for receiving open box items without knowing. Two-star rating generously goes here to praise their ability to get charged. But, if the battery life is shorter than new ones, the seller only deserves ZERO star. Honestly, I think this is a gimmick which Amazon.com neglects.

I needed newer batts to replace my 4 yr old ones, can't afford IONs and charger just yet. Found Home Depot selling 2 18v P100 batts, charger, 1/2" variable drill and carry bag for $69.00 !!!! Price might still go down with approach of Father's day or summer specials.

STAY AWAY! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME!

This is the most ridiculous company with about the lousiest attitude ever!

After several 18V +one batteries started to fail (fast discharge, not holding charge, capacity loss) within a year to year and a half I contacted Ryobi since the original vendor only "warrants" 90 days but Ryobi oh so "proudly" offers a full 2 year warranty.

I was instructed to call one of their contracted 3rd party "service center" on their list which one can find via area code etc.

The nearest to me is Craig & Green, 40 miles (one way) away in San Francisco.

Upon my call to Craig and Green and polite inquiry I not only was put on hold and disconnected but upon my second call I got besides a rude person an attitude stating that Quote: I have to bring all my tools, chargers and batteries for warranty service." End Quote.

Upon asking why ALL TOOLS and CHARGERS and how long this takes I received a non qualified answer: Quote: That's how we do it for warranty service and I can't tell you how long it will take. End Quote.

So in the mean time it sit idle and can't do any work? I'm a contractor. Does Ryobi reimburse me for the loss of income?

I made A HUGE MISTAKE TRUSTING THE RYOBI BRAND! I'm better selling all off and buy a brand who stands behind his warranty commitment.

Ryobi has about the lousiest customer and warranty service I ever came across! I will not hesitate to write to management about this so called "Customer Service" as well post my experience everywhere on the web for others to know. They are absolutely preposterous if they think this is warranty service by referring you, the customer, to a 3rd party business with an attitude which demands that all tools and chargers be submitted as well, or else. This so called "Warranty Service" is more a fraudulent deterrent to avoid their obligation and commitment to the promised 2 year warranty. It frankly stinks sky high.

On top of that, in my case I would have to drive over 80 miles round trip twice, pay $ 11 in toll fees twice not even knowing if I will get my batteries replaced or just another excuse delivered that it can not be done.

Are they serious? I have to drive a total of 160 miles in gas and time and $ 22 in tolls fees?? This "2 year warranty" service is of fraudulent nature and is nothing short of "defective services"!

Stay away from it! Don't buy Ryobi products! Buy a brand who lives up to their warranty. They don't live up to their performance (at least the 18V batteries)and when you need service you'll get the round around! - 18v - 18v Battery - Rechargeable Batteries - Good'

Game Programming - game design, video game books

I get a lot of game books sent to me for review; I let Game QA&Testing get lost in the stack, assuming it would be some "idiot's guide" for people who want to get into the industry but don't really have a shot... I was completely wrong. Game QA & Testing is an excellent book for anyone seriously considering QA as a career. It explains the advantages and hurdles as well as brings a level of professionalism to the profession which is often lacking in the industry.

This is a book that I would not only recommend for every QA person and QA hopeful but also for producers and designers who want a better understanding of how QA should work.

James Portnow

CEO Divide by Zero Games Game Development Essentials: Game QA & Testing

As with all the Game Development Essentials I found this book to have plenty of information on Video Game QA & Testing as well as giving you a heads up on how to get in to the industry as a whole. I found this incredibly helpful and I've read it from cover to cover a few times in the last few weeks.

This is first review I have written for amazon. Usually I am inline with what other write about a book and feel no need to add any comments.

However, the comments on this book are way off base. I am profession programmer with 20 years experience. I have a background in enterprise development, including testing, agile, etc.... I was looking for a book about testing for games to see who the best practices differ from the world I am part of....and this book spends less than 5 pages talking about automated repeatable test suites...instead it talks about just about everything else. It is full of tales of what others have developed, but spends almost no time on how to test!!!

As an introduction to game development, this book may be ok, but even for this, purpose I think there are better books out there. I would strong recommend NOT getting this book.

Luis and Jeannie's book is an invaluable resource for anyone looking for a way to get into the video game industry or to start up their own company. Testing and Quality Assurance (QA) is often overlooked by newcomers, but the process is vitally important in getting a game polished, finished and shipped. This is a great introduction for students as well as for industry professionals.

I particularly enjoyed the first section which put the whole testing process in an historical perspective and went into detail on the kinds of testing involved in finishing a game. The last section also has great advice on how to move from testing onto a game team. Scattered throughout the book are lots of insights from industry pros. Finally, the DVD included in the book contains a rich lode of relevant materials - test plans, design documents and even a bunch of games! As with the other books in the "Game Development Series," this book gives the reader fascinating insights into the game industry.

Jeannie and Luis have done a great job with this book, lots of inside advice from professionals in the gaming industry. A very worthy addition to the Game Development Essentials series. Highly recommended.

Luis and Jeannies book; Game QA & Testing is a must have for any aspiring game tester. It covers everything from what to expect before we start in the field of Video Game Testing, all the way to dealing with the testers responsabilities once we finally land that job and make it to the next plateau!

Game QA not only gives you the tricks of the trade, it also helps you build a professional mindset into this exciting field.

This is an excellent book for anyone who is considering being a Video Game Tester but doesn't know where to start. Thanks guys!

GDE is a series of books developed solely for collegiate learning regarding technology and gaming. This specific title is geared to QA testers and 'wanna-be' QA testers. It speaks in depth how lowly of a position QA testing really is. It's not simply an easy job to get and hold. You will fight long hours and hard times, all looking for the hope of moving up in the industry.

The book goes into great detail on types of bugs to spot while QA testing as well as their specific names and examples. It is wonderful as college material as there are questions after every chapter to brush up and review.

Like many in the series of Game Devleopment Essentials this title, Game QA & Testing is a must have for any student of the game. - Game Design - Game Programming - Video Games - Video Game Books'

Automatic Movement - skeleton automatic, skeleton watch

Received this watch as a gift, bit of a skeleton watch fan. I have an Invicta Skeleton and it never kept time accurately, the hour and minute hands never lined up at 12:00, etc. This is everything the more expensive Invicta should have been.

I've gotten numerous nice comments on it from coworkers, and it's my favorite daily wear watch at the moment. If you like the look, you can't go wrong with this one.

I've had it for a little over 5 months now, and the only instance where I've needed to reset the time were the ones where I let it unwind after a few days of not wearing it. Keeps time as well as a quartz (from my inattentive perception, anyway), but looks a lot sexier.

Note: This watch, while not a delicate flower, isn't some mil-spec monster that can take being run over by a tank without a scratch. I've been a bit too inattentive at times in rough environments and put a few scratches and scrapes in the metal. So don't go around scraping it against rough concrete walls and you'll be good. Kenneth Cole New York Men's KC1631 Skeleton Dial Automatic Analog Leather Strap Watch

The picture does not do justice for this watch. The quality is very high for a watch of this price and being an automatic, you don't need to replace the batteries... ever. The face is a little larger than I expected but it looks very classy. The time is easy to tell despite the "busy" skeleton face. I am really happy with this purchase and will wear this one often.

Size and Shape:

The diameter is 1.5", which is large, but not horrible if your wrists are big. The bigger problem was how tall the case is; it sticks up very far from your wrist and interferes with sleeves, putting on jackets, and cuffs of shirts. Also, the watch mechanical parts only extend about 1" in diameter, then the see-through ring around the edge (you will see your skin through it) is just extra space to make the watch face bigger, and doesn't house any parts.

Defective Movement:

When I first got the watch, it worked fine and did 4 ticks of the second hand per second. This is a nice feature, since you can watch the gears / parts swing back and forth twice for each second, and the second hand itself appears to be a continuous-drive one, since the 1/4-second ticks are small. After only about 2-3 days, problems with the second hand started developing, and it would stutter or "hang" at several points in each 1-minute revolution. There are videos of this online, since other Kenneth Cole watches use the same cheap movement. It seemed to catch up, but it was irritating that the second hand would pause for 3-6 ticks (about 0.5 to 1.5 seconds), then "jump" to catch up. To summarize, the second hand movement is cheap and broke almost instantly.

Summary:

I ended up returning this watch. The leather strap is very nice and comfortable, but the watch is too big and the second-hand movement was defective.

The photos does not do this watch any justice. You just got to see it in real. Brilliant and beautiful watch. The moment I got it, I was appreciating it already. It's China movement though and not japanese movement but the beauty of it makes up for it. Will definitely wear it for functions and dinner. This watch also made me wanting to get a watch winder because it's automatic.

I've received many compliments while wearing this watch. Leather strap and skeleton design makes this watch look classy and modern at the same time. Glow in the dark hands and some gear is a nice addition to this watch. The price is definitely a huge plus. This watch is little on a bigger side, and might not look as good on skinny guy.

I got this watch for a good friend of mine as a Birthday gift.. Just received it today.. what can I say.. IT IS SIMPLY AMAZING! Very strong built, genuine leather strap, big face big dials.. & the Classy Look. Almost made me change my mind about giving it away as a gift.. haha.. I'm definitely getting myself one. If you like watches, especially leather strapped.. you need to get this. Truly a masterpiece from Kenneth Cole, and for the Unbeatable price.. you cant go wrong ;o)

There is no question that when it has came down to watches, there are few of the definitives that make them completely worth their money. One of them is price, but also complete convience. For Kenneth Cole, they've had some watches that have been completely worth their money, and others like the touch screen watch that really were wastes of time. For their New York Automatic watch, it actually handles well. This noble watch handles well by the simple motion of the self-winding movement of the wrist. It handles absolutely well. It really works brilliantly in its price, but also the convience of the watch. I liked how simple it is through its movement, and how you see the gears move through its skeletal design. If you are looking for a nice automatic, without the weight of a hefty price, than try this Kenneth Cole Watch out for size.

Historical Fiction - henry viii, anne boleyn

First off, let me say I am not a fan of Philippa Gregory, mainly due to her blatant disregard for history (although she claims to do extensive research for her novels, she uses no primary sources (first rule of historical research = use primary sources) and her secondary sources (which from reading the book, she appears to have only skimmed over) are often outdated or don't stand up to the test of time). I watched the movie mainly to see the costumes (I'm a Tudor period fanatic) and to see if it would be better or worse than the book.

The Tudor period is a fascinating time, and it doesn't need to be changed or altered in order to make it more interesting. There's plenty of love, sex, betrayal, political scheming, etc. so I'm not sure why PG felt the need to completely alter the story so much.

I won't go into all of the historical inaccuracies here, if I did, I would be here all night. Besides, there are many other amazon reviewers who are better-spoken than me and have far more knowledge of the Tudor period than I do (I'm only a student), and they have written some wonderful reviews pointing out errors (head on over to the TOBG book page, or check out forums on IMDB).

My main problem with this movie was that it seemed much more like a TV Movie (Lifetime channel anybody?) than a Hollywood film with well-known, highly-paid actors and actresses. The Henry/Mary relationship was almost non-existent, they have a few sex scenes, but nothing to show that they might have actually cared for one another. Henry and Mary have TWO very short conversations before they sleep together. And this is supposed to be our heroine, who has fallen in love? This is preposterous even to romance novel readers. There is no character development or relationship development between the beginning of Henry and Mary's affair and Mary conceiving. So when Anne comes back and "steals" Henry away from Mary while she is pregnant, do we really feel that bad for Mary? Not really, since we haven't seen anything to show us that Mary is in love (at least in the novel there was an actual emotional relationship, one-dimensional as it was).

The one main thing that *really* put me off of this film was the rape scene with Henry and Anne. Henry certainly was not a wonderful guy, history has clearly shown us this, but is this scene necessary? As far as history goes, Anne held off Henry for many years, so a rape is very unlikely (not to mention she wasn't pregnant when she and Henry married secretly (winter 1532, second ceremony in London January 1533, Elizabeth born Sept 1533)). I'm not really sure if this scene is here to show us that "you'll get what's coming to you" if you act like a shrew, or if it's supposed to make us feel a hint of sympathy for Anne. Yes Henry and Anne's relationship (obviously) fell apart, but it fell apart over a period of years, not months. *SPOILER ALERT* Also, the ending with Mary storming into the castle and grabbing Elizabeth from her caretakers and walking out with her seems pretty preposterous. Henry had gotten rid of Anne, but he still did show regard for his children and made sure they were properly raised. Snatching Elizabeth, especially after the king has warned you he will not tolerate you, your pleas to him, or your family anymore, seems like asking for some major punishment to me. *END SPOILER*

Strangely enough, considering that Ms. Gregory considers herself a "feminist author," the only characters remotely resembling anything feminist was the Boleyn mother, Elizabeth, who encourages her daughters to be well-educated and shows her objection to the Boleyn-Howard males pimping out their daughters for political gain (gains which usually fell to the males), and Katherine of Aragon, who acts honorably and respectably at all times. I don't think these are the characters we are meant to admire, but Anne is made out to be a self-serving, conniving shrew and Mary is too meek and mousy to be likeable.

One major (non-historical) error: Mary is married to William Carey, but midway through the film William Stafford asks her to marry him and leave court with him. Um, what happened to Mary's husband (He died of the sweating sickness, but the film never shows this)?

I was hoping for some great costumes from this film, and I was very disappointed. The fabrics were very modern (some of them looked like 1970s curtains) and seemed very out of place. Natalie Portman basically wore the same version of a dress, just in different colored fabrics, through the majority of the film (same for Scarlett). Tudor fashion is amazing; the costume designers could have shown so much more variety with the costumes. The accents of Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson were incredibly bad. Portman's accent seems to have gotten worse from when she did V for Vendetta. Also, at times certain scenes were so dark that I had to readjust the settings on my screen (which I've never had a problem with).

The one positive thing about the film is that they chose to leave out the incest plot-line that was very strongly suggested in the book. The Other Boleyn Girl

Seeing that this movie is from a novel based on historical events, the general gist of the story may not be unfamiliar to most, although the accuracy of some of the content may be debatable.

Short Attention Span Summary (SASS):

1. Henry VIII (Eric Bana) was a handsome, hunky, hunka hunka burnin' love

2. Anne Boleyn (Natalie Portman) and her sister Mary (Scarlett Johansson) were babelicious babes

3. Married Henry didn't have an heir, so he wanted to pick up a spare

4. Sir Thomas Boleyn had tons of ambition and a couple of daughters to spare

5. Henry picks up the wrong one, who might have turned out to be the right one, if not for ....

6. ... the other Boleyn girl

7. Abstinence can make the heart grow fonder but befuddles the brain

8. The lady may have been in waiting, but the King wasn't

9. By George! I think she's done it

10. Off with her head!

Warning to students: Quoting the above in History class may be detrimental to your grades.

More hysterical drama than historical drama, this movie seems more "Desperate Housewives" than period piece, but there's no denying that the costumes and sets are stunning, and the lead actors and actresses simply amazing, despite the lack of the proper accents.

I'm going to vote for the entertainment factor here.

Mainly wanted this for the steps while moving into a new home with new carpet. Didn't stick as well as I would have liked. Started peeling back while moving, making it more difficult to carry things up the steps. I'm sure it is fine for flat carpeted areas.
