Fourth Of July - glow bracelets

These appear to be better packaged than other brands I've purchased in the past and the colors are very vivid. A word of caution though...one of first bracelets I activated leaked all over my hand. I haven't gone through very many of them yet so I'm not sure if this is an isolated occurrence. I'm told that the chemical inside is considered non-toxic but I would still be cautious when you first put these together and not give them to younger children. What did leak out cleaned up easily with soap and water. 100 8 inch Glowstick Glow Stick Light Bracelets Assorted Colors

I came back to this page to re-order and seeing that there was a very average 3-star review, thought I'd offer my own experiences. Our GROWN kids LOVED these. They combined them to make necklaces, "armor", & light sabers. They played a tossing game with them, late at night. In fact, this box of glow-sticks was one of the highlights of a recent summer party. (Hence, I'm back for more.)

Bottom line:

... they only last one night, so they are not a long-term toy.

... none of ours leaked anything but if yours did, DO NOT DRINK THE CONTENTS and you should contact the seller. I would.

... they look beautiful when they're paraded around in the dark.

... Kids of all ages love 'em.

Another viewer mentioned this but I thought I'd mention it again. These are not Wizards Wand and you will get a package that is not the yellow one pictured. You will get the blue package. I don't know much about the different brands. However, the one that I tried out after receiving the package didn't stay bright very long ~5 minutes very bright then started to dull quickly.

I'm sure they will be fine for handing out during Halloween but I'll definitely not be able to snap them all and hand them out during the night. They will have to be snapped right before I give them away. Definitely not like the store-bought "thick" sticks.

UPDATE: After purchasing various glow bracelets from various stores (Target, Dollar Tree, etc) I've found that these sticks are just about the same as any.

This may not matter to those of you who don't care what kind of glowsticks you get, but I wanted to order Wizard's Wand brand because I've heard they are the most durable. The product description says: "You will receive ONE tube of 100 Wizard's Wand Glow magic glowing bracelets." Instead I received a package of glowsticks with Chinese characters on the front (presumably the brand name) above the words "Glow Stick". Please be careful when ordering glowsticks to make sure that you get the brand you asked for and not some cheap knock-off.

The product came in a couple days early and was neatly packaged. These glowsticks were worth every penny. They were very bright, staryed lit for about 10 hours and made my party much more fun, and for only 5 dollars- there's no comparison. I would definitely consider buying again!

These are pretty cool. Just don't bend them until you are ready to use. These are just like the glow sticks that kids carry around at Halloween. Once you bend it, it glows. Don't know how long the glow lasts because we haven't used it yet for the purpose it was bought, but at least for a couple hours, Which should be plenty for whatever activity it is being used for.

Ordered these for our guests to use as we left the wedding reception. They came packaged in a big tube, which made them easy to store, transport, and distribute quickly to guests. They had a blast with them and the different colors were really pretty! - Glow Bracelets'

Grill Accessories - accessories, stove accessories

This is what I needed and seems to be good quality. Minus one star because the price is so high.

It was hard to tell from the description (here at Amazon and other web sites) if the connectors on this hose were correct for my needs and how it attaches. I ordered it anyway and luckily it is what I needed to connect a propane tank (the type that is normally used for an outdoor grill) to my 25-year old 2-burner Coleman camp stove. One end of this hose has the same connector you find at the top of the small 16oz Coleman propane cylinders -- so it attaches to the metal tube connector that normally goes between a 16oz cylinder and the stove. The other end of this hose attaches to larger propane tanks like the new one I just bought. I don't know what a 20# tank is, but mine is like 3 gallons in size -- the usual kind that people use for outdoor grills. I found out, however, that it does not fit the quick-release connection that I have on a different propane tank that came with my Weber grill. I'll have to see if there's a (quick release) adapter available so that I can use this hose with that other propane tank also. Coleman High-Pressure Propane Hose and Adapter

This thing is nicely designed and built. Just to emphasize what others have already said - it connects the 20 pound propane tank to the regulator on the stove. *It does not connect directly to the stove - you still need a regulator!* The regulators on the newer stoves are on metal tubes with 45 degree angles, the regulators on the older stoves are on rubber tubes.

It makes so much more sense to use a refillable big propane tank than to dump those little empties in the land fill.

Bought this for my portable Weber 386002 Q 100 Portable Propane Gas Grill; works perfectly with 20lb propane tanks.

Works like a charm, but CAUTION: If you plan on disconnecting the 20lb tank with the hose, you may receive some propane blow off. THIS IS OK! It is just the build up within the 5 foot hose.

HOW TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE:

Towards (or at) the end of cooking, close the propane nossel to off while keeping the grill turned on high. This will burn off all the leftover propane in the line. I usually turn it off within 3 minutes left of cooking as to not waste it; sometimes it'll continue burning, slower and slower, for 5 minutes after.

EXPERIENCE: The only problem that I have with Coleman, is that most of their propane gear is designed to use the small propane cylinders. This forces us to spend $25.00 on a high pressure hose adapter. And Coleman knows that you are going to need it, as you can't run a stove for very long on a 16-OZ propane cylinder. I guess for most of you that go camping, wouldn't need this at all. But for those of us using this at home, you need this to hookup to your 20-gallon tank.

I have not had any problem at all with this hose adapter. However, I feel the need to put a warning out there for you folks. This side of the hose which attaches to your propane tank, does not use right handed threads! You must rotate it counter clockwise, to get it to attach to your tank. Get it tight, but not too tight either!

The hose has a nice 5-foot length to it, so this way you can keep your propane tank a good distance away from the stove, I like that. The other end of the hose attaches to your stove via right handed threads, so just go clockwise with that one. I don't even need to open the valve on my propane tank all the way, just one turn is enough.

The stove uses a fixed regulator setting, so no adjustment is necessary. All I have to do, is hold the flame of my barbecue lighter up to the burners, and then open the valves. They ignite almost instantaneously, and then I can began cooking my food. I have had 0 issues with pressure flow, so I believe this hose to be a quality piece.

CONCLUSION: You may not need this hose adapter if you are going on camping trips. However, if you plan to use this at home, you probably should consider getting one. I have had 0-issues with this hose, and I highly recommend it. 5-STARS

THIS IS A FABULOUS ADD ON FOR ANY GAS GRILL PURCHASED TO USE WITH A SMALL BOTTLE OF PROPANE, IT IS VERY EASY TO FIT INTO ANY LARGE OR SMALL PROPANE TANK BECAUSE OF THE HANDLE. THE PART THAT FITS TO THE GRILL NEEDS TO BE VERY TIGHT THOUGH, IF YOU DON'T TIGHTEN IT VERY WELL THE GAS WILL NOT FLOW INTO GRILL, TAKE THIS IN CONSIDERATION IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET FRUSTRATED WHEN INSTALLING IT.

This was exactly what I was looking for. I have a Coleman stove/grill combo and this adaptor connects perfectly to the big propane gas tank. Small tanks are portable, but for longer usage this adaptor really helps.

To help understand, Amazon should show an image connecting the stove's L-shaped metal connector to the adaptor cable, and would help future buyers a lot (I mean the pic which is on the product manual)

I purchased this to hook up a standard propane tank to a tabletop heater, which would normally use a baby propane tank.

Works great, no propblems or complaints.

Much better throughput than the smaller tanks.

Cheers,

Kimball Morgan

I recently purchased the Paul Jr. Designs Coleman RoadTrip Grill and wanted to connect it to a 20-lb propane gas cylinder. I looked up and found this Coleman High-Pressure Propane Hose and Adapter on Amazon.com, and from the description, it said "Great for use with coleman road trip grills or lanterns." I saw other hoses that were selling at lower prices but I wanted to pair the Grill with the hose from the same company.

I connected the hose to the regulator and connected the regulator to the grill with no problem. Then when I tried to connect the hose to the 20-lb gas cylinder, I found that the threads are left-hand threads (counter-clock wise). Once I realized that, the hose connected to the tank perfectly.

The quality of the hose seems high. The connection was perfect. The steaks were done perfectly. Just remember to shut the tank first after cooking is done before turning off the burners. This will burn off the residual gas left inside the hose. - Coleman Grill - Grill Accessories - Accessories - Stove Accessories'

Kayak Storage Rack

Not only was this an easy set up, but getting the kayak belted in was easy. I throw my misc gear in the cockpit (vest, water bottle etc). On the top we not only put our paddles but 3 sets of skiis & poles, 2 golf drivers & other stuff we didn't have a home for in our garage. It holds 250lbs as long as its mounted propperly so why not? We mounted this up high so I can still put my freezer chest down below our boat. This was a great storage solution for us! Malone J-Dock Hybrid Kayak and Gear Garage Storage Racks

My husband tried to make a pulley contraption to put a kayak on the ceiling of the garage, it didn't work. So I searched and found these on amazon and he was delighted. We put them on the garage wall the day they came. Easy to install and strong. We put our larger kayak on the racks and hung the smaller hobie from them, so it only took one set of the racks to store both boats. They are nicely accessible and very affordable.

I purchased two sets of the Malone J-Dock Hybrid Kayak Racks. They are clearly very sturdy, well-made, and easy to install. For this they get 5 stars. However, be aware that these are not padded in any way. The black areas are a solidly built hard plastic and only the bottom plastic support has a small patch of ridgid hard rubber for a small degree of cushioning.

That said, these have held our 12' kayaks for over two years now without any sign of stress or give, and no apparent marring of the glossy finish of the kayaks themselves.

I have a Malone carrier (with extender) which works well for my wife when loading and unloading solo. Consequently, I had no problem buying the Malone garage storage rack. It was inexpensive and easy to install. I have a 'Tarpon 120' kayak, which is flatter and wider than most boats as well as being 12 feet long. The storage rack not only holds the boat well, but I have had no need to secure with tie down straps. Granted, not all kayaks will fit as well as mine, but the fact is that I feel that my rack is being used optimally, yet is not being strained in the least.

Hugh R. Fojut

I love this rack. It was easy to assemble and mount on my garage wall and holds the kayak securely on its side. The only thing I would have like better is if it had a more secure paddle holding system.

I purchased the Malone J Dock for my Hobie 2 person kayak. It was very easy to mount on the garage wall with enclosed wood screws. Just make sure you get them into the studs. My kayak weigh about 90 lbs. and the rack holds it very stable even without the straps. If small kids around I would probably use the straps for additional safety.

I bought these around 6 months ago and they are still doing great. They were super easy to put up and they've been holding both mine and my wife's kayaks ever since we bought them. This was a much cheaper solution to storage than other devices I saw and the materials are very high quality. I'd definitely buy this again.

I installed the storage racks today. This is a high quality product. I put a tarpon 120 on top and hung another 120 on the bottom. Racks can easily handle the weight. The kayak hanging from the bottom was right up against the wall. The kayak on the rack had a slight angle back to the wall. This is a very affordable way to store two kayaks.

We looked all over trying to figure out how to store our newly purchased kayaks. This has been a great solution for us! It was easy to install and easy to get the kayaks into/out of. I have been really pleased with this storage system.'

Ron Livingston - comedy, jennifer aniston

I'm not sure it is essential to have worked in an office to enjoy this film, but I'm certain it will hit home for those who have. The movie was a complete bust at the box office, which utterly mystifies me, because it is hysterically funny and reflects the experience of millions of people across the United States (and I assume elsewhere). In an age where companies are seeking to lay off workers at any possible opportunity, this film has perhaps even more relevance now than it did when it came out in 1999.The humor of the film works on multiple levels, but for me so much of it is funny with a twist of the knife, for much of the humor hints at a much more serious fact: modern work is genuinely dreadful and alienating. Perhaps many office workers love their job, but I hate mine, and I assume that I am merely one of millions. No one in this film has a meaningful job. Even Lumbergh, though the boss, has an absurd position. Peter Gibbons is at least able to be honest about the ridiculousness of his plight during the incredibly funny sequence in which he is hypnotized. The film is a collection of many, many wonderful moments. I started laughing from the second that Peter Gibbons gets trapped in the traffic jam and is passed by an old man on a walker, and didn't stop until the very end. The film is a parade of very funny bits, from Michael Bolton and his passion for gangsta rap to Joanna's boss urging her to wear more flair (played by director Mike Judge) to Peter's neighbor who would yell at him through the walls to Peter's bizarre fantasy in which Lumbergh is making love to Joanna holding a cup of coffee in one hand and her ankle in the other to virtually any conversation involving Lumbergh and Milton. Some of the humor is a bit too broad. For instance, although I defy anyone not to find Milton's sequences funny as heck, they don't fit in quite as neatly with the satire of the rest of the film. I wouldn't, however, want to trade them in for a tighter movie. In a way, this movie has made my life easier to live. I suspected my job was absurd before seeing this film. Now I know it is. But somehow knowing the truth makes it easier to get through the day. Office Space (Special Edition with Flair!) [Blu-ray]

This movie made an almost "psychic" connection with me... the first time I saw it, I had just come home from my nightmare job -- many of the same things depicted in the movie had happened to me that very day, including the printer jam with that exact message "Error - PC Load Letter", while trying to print a report that was already late (what the heck does that message mean, anyway?!). I related so well to this movie's honest, astute, and technically correct observations of office culture in the 90's, that the brilliantly original bits of commedy were almost incidental to me (I must have annoyed the heck out of my wife with outbursts like "Oh my GOD, that's so TRUE!" every two minutes). I caught some of the more subtle humor in subsequent viewings. I'll admit, the movie lost its hold on me about 2/3 in, when the main character (who had by this time become an icon to me with his new found "no fear of consequences" attitude) took a strange criminal direction, and his angst began to return. This seemed to break the consistancy. I wan't too thrilled with Jenifer Aniston's performance either, although I suppose that had more to do with her script. In any case, the second time I watched the move, none of this bothered me as much.I've since purchased the DVD, and have worn this disk out playing it for friends. I'll never get tired of this movie... even the sound track makes me laugh. It's a wonder that it didn't get better reviews, although I guess one really would have had to have experienced office politics in the 90's to fully relate (I wonder when was the last time in the 90's that Ebert heard, "Don't forget to fill in your timesheets!")Some reviewers gave it low ratings claiming that it was "lightweight"... okay, so it's no Citizen Kane, but it certainly doesn't claim to be either! Give it credit for what it is -- as a lighthearted observational commedy, it's brilliant. And that's not to say that it was a total no-brainer either... on an intelligence level, I'd rate it much higher than say... any movie ever made by the Fairley Brothers (and certainly much lower on the "obnoxious bathroom humor"-scale).It's a pretty sad testiment to the intelligence of the average North American that movies like "Me, Myself, and Irene" brought in more money than Office Space. I hope Mike Judge doesn't let this stop him from creating another gem.

If you've ever worked in a tiny cubicle, pushed papers, and fought a worthless fax machine in an attempt to earn a living, you will love this movie. OFFICE SPACE is a hilarious movie that deconstructs everything that makes an office worker's life so miserable: from morning traffic, to catch phrases (it looks like somone has the Moondays), to bosses that totally ignore their workers. This movie had a low budget, but Mike Judge is a brilliant filmmaker. He takes a relatively unknown cast and is able to milk hilarious, yet totally lifelike performances from each actor and unites everything together in a coherent conceptually comedy masterpiece (e.g. the fax-beating scene with the ganster music playing is just pure brilliance). Of course, the film says a lot about the actors as well, they don't seem to be just characters or caricatures: they seem like real people. There is no sex, relative little violence (well, there is a lot of violence toward inanimate objects), and relatively little cursing words (most of the foul language comes from the film's soundtrack). A movie that's destined to become a modern comedy classic.

If you have ever worked in a cubicle farm for a technology company, or ROFL after reading Dilbert cartoons, and know what ROFL means, you will love this movie. Mike Judge (creator of Beavis and Butthead) digs into and makes fun of the things that people hate most about their jobs, with such accuracy that he must have consulted Scott Adams himself while developing the screenplay. With company names like "Penetrode", this movie takes numerous humorous stabs at the idiocy foisted upon the modern working class by the "management class", those highly-compensated stuffed-shirts with no more qualifications than an MBA hanging on their wall. These are the people who abuse you every time you make a mistake, and try to convince you that they are really your buddy in a thinly veiled attempt to keep you submissive and cooperative. Office Space tears into the very heart of the manipulative phony friendship ploy that so many managers think of as their "brilliant" management technique. So if you're tired of being shocked every time you touch a door knob, and sick of having half a dozen different "bosses" giving you conflicting work assignments, then I highly recommend that you buy this movie and blow off some steam, before it's too late! This film is a lot of fun to watch, but if you're looking for an intellectually challenging work of art, this is not the film for you. The story is quite simple; it is a single-layer story that conveys the same information on subsequent viewing as it conveyed during the first viewing. The visual and audio elements are interesting and entertaining, but not artistic. This is a fun comedy that a lot of people can identify with, not deep social commentary. However, the social commentary that IS in the film couldn't be more timely. The DVD itself is mediocre. No extras to speak of, other than cast bios and one trailer. Transitions from one menu to another are slightly animated, and the way the DVD starts up is cute, but overall the power of the DVD medium is not utilized.Movie ------- Originality: B+ Creativity: B+ Complexity/Depth: C+ Relevance/Message: A+ Artistic Merit: C Overall Entertainment Value: ADVD ------ Transfer Quality: A Extras: C- Use of Medium: C+ - Gary Cole - Jennifer Aniston - Comedy - Mike Judge'

Shimano Sahara - abf-90, spinning reels

These reels are nice for those that want a good real but don't want to pay the big bucks for the extra stuff that only the true pros can enjoy about a reel. The discs are large enough to take a strong run yet still smooth under load. The handel is crank mounted so there no added play to worry about. It's also quite easy to switch RL. It's a long stroke for more line with a smoother cast.

I have been useing their 6730 (small) for quite a while for every kind of fish I can catch in my part of the world. The most impressive was a 6.65 lb large mouth I hooked on 4lb test in less then 4 feet of water near some fell trees. As soon as I felt the pull I knew I had a nice one. This was a true real world test of the drag and line feed. It took me nearly ten minutes to get it In while chaseing it in the jhon boat. It took some vary strong and sudden runs (you know what I'm talking about), but the real handeled nicely and was smooth the whole time. I was actually crappy fishing and got a nice bass by mistake. Ultralight gear all around and was not setup to catch this fish but did thanks to this reels smooth and simple operation.

The larger 6735 I have has yet to let me down bass, cat or carp fishing. Catching fish well over the 5, 8 and 12 pound mark off the same real. Pflueger President Spinning Reel, 115-Yards/9-Pound Clam

I am somewhat of a "gear junkie" and like most guys I really enjoy getting a new toy so with that thought in mind I set out to the store to buy a new reel.I have tried reels from almost every manufacturer and over the years I have settled on Shimano as the only brand I can always depend on to get the job done.Just about any reel will work if you are fishing for trout or other smaller fish but when you are going after a larger more powerful fish like steelhead or chinook salmon you need a reel that can handle the powerful runs of these fish. Feeling it was time for a new "toy" I set out for the sporting goods store to buy a new Shimano reel. While looking over the selection I got to talking with one of our local fishing guides who takes clients on some of the bigger rivers in this area to catch Coho and Chinook Salmon and he recommended the Plueger President. I was somewhat sceptical since I have tried reels from all the big names and have been disappointed in the performance of all of them except Shimano but he said the Pflueger President was the reel he has on all of his rods and that they perform flawlessly.

After carefully examining the reel and testing its operation as much as can be tested in the store with no load on it I decided to give the Plueger a try. The first time out I hooked a nice Coho and the fight was on. The reel was very smooth and the drag system worked flawlessly.I landed the fish and Pflueger landed me as new fan of their products.

I still enjoy using my Shimano reels but I find myself picking this reel more and more often when I head out.

The only flaw I have seen is in the handle which seems to somehow unscrew itself while in use. This is not a problem if you just check it occasionally while you are fishing but you need to be aware that this is a possibility and make sure it is screwed on tight.

The Pflueger 6725 is an excellent ultra-light reel. I recently had the opportunity to go trout fishing on a private lake for some Nice cutthroat trout fishing and test my new reel in the field. I mated my Pflueger reel with a St.Croix Triumph series TRS56ULF2 5'6" Ultra-light 2 piece rod. The system is balanced nicely and you can cast all day with minimum arm fatigue. The Reel, with is 10 bearing configuration is butter smooth and the drag adjustment is precise in micro increments that is reliable to accommodate light 2 lb. test line with assurance. Also the color combinations are pleasing to the eye. Great Reel for the money!

After I bought this reel I took it out to the river and began catching 10-14 inch Smallmouth which this reel handled with ease. Great reel, worth the extra money! I am very pleased with it and I am planning on buying a 2nd one.

Solid construction, quality materials, smooth spin action combine to make this premium feeling reel for the price that is easy to justify. If you are looking for a spinning reel for occasional fishing trip, like I did, this is it. It sure feels that it will easily last few decades with minimal maintenance. Looking forward to casting with it once more as soon as winter ice thaws around Chicago. - Spinning Reel - Spinning Reels - Shimano - Abf-90'

Ipod Dock - docking stations, ipod alarm clock

I purchased this alarm clock for my 14 year old. We have tried numerous other alarm clocks for her, even the ones with the bells on top that clang. She has slept through them all, sometimes even when they go off for 30 minutes near her head. This year she started high school and has to get up much earlier. The iLuv has woken her up much more quickly than any other alarm clock! I no longer have to get up and drag her out of bed. I would recommend this for sound sleepers! iLuv iMM153WHT Dual Alarm Clock with Bed Shaker for your iPod - White

Here is the rundown:

Pros:

+Docked flawlessly with my iPod nano 5g.

+All buttons worked.

+Ability to have auxiliary input.

+Wake up bed shaker is a nice touch. (and it has a very long cord)

+Alarm is a beep that gets louder over time (and can be used in concordance with the bed shaker)

+Can customize both alarms to incorporate different alarm types (ie. Shaker and beep, shaker and playlist, etc)

Cons:

-Sound was absolutely unbearable with any bass (even with ipod EQ settings set to bass reducer)

-Wake up bed shaker is not as strong as I hoped it to be.

-Product "feels" cheap (thin plastic, cheap buttons).

-Time setting is clumsy and difficult, why not just have it sync to the atomic clock (my $15 walmart clock did that)

-There are two bass "holes" in the back that appear to do nothing (I don't hear anything coming from them)

-Many comparable docks have remotes included. This does not.

-The screen does not look like it does in the image. It has a bright blue backlight.

Bottom Line:

This is great if you want an alarm clock with multiple alarm features that will also charge your iPod. You should not get this if you want to listen to music on it.

Why I gave it 2 stars:

I got this so I could listen to my iPod while I go to sleep. The sound quality is so unbearable that I stopped using it. It still has nice alarm features, but is overpriced for what I wanted.

A great concept let down by a few design flaws.

My intent for buying a new alarm clock was two-fold:

1) To enable me to set an alarm which would wake me, without disturbing others

2) To have a way to dim the clock so it would not disturb my sleep with too much light in the room.

Having this connect to an iPod Nano was a bonus.

The first thing that impressed me from the specs on this alarm clock was the bed shaker. Now, take note, this says Bed Shaker - and it truly is. Anyone sleeping on the same matress will feel their skull vibrating almost as much as yours, even when you place the vibrating disc under your pillow. 9/10 points for effort - 4/10 points for implementation

The second thing that persuaded me to this model was that it appeared, from reading through the reviews that the brightness on the clock was settable from 0 (no backlight) to 9 (bright enough to read a book by). This seemed great as this would allow me to have the backlight off for sleeping and adjust it if/when I needed to read the clock... However, the implementation of this is a fatal flaw for me with this product. Let me explain in detail:

a) The brightness change requires you to set a new overall brightness level; so if you are at 0 you click the Dimmer/Snooze button and it goes to 1. To turn the light off you have to click the button another 9 times to cycle back to 0. This is awkward, though is way surpassed by the loud clicking made by the cheap switch which wakes anyone else not wearing earplugs...

b) Insult is added to injury with the design of the Dimmer/Snooze button. Imagine you're sleeping with the backlight off (Dimmer 0) and the alarm occurs - you hit the button to increase the brightness, but it's a joint-function Dimmer/Snooze button... So, the alarm snoozes - and no matter how many times you hit the dimmer/snooze button again, to turn the brightness up to see the time, nothing happens. It appears the the clock is in "alarm mode". The only way to see the clock is to fumble for the alarm off button, turn off the alarm permanently and then hit the Dimmer/Snooze button again to now increase the backlight on the clock to level 1.

I know, and apologise, if this appears like a rant - and maybe my unit is faulty as the Dimmer 1 setting is incredibly bright and disturbing to sleep.

On the brighter side. The iPod functionality works well, even on the new iPod nanos, and the speakers are ok - definitely not hi-fi, but for a bedside table to listen to music whilst reading a book, they are adequate.

Anyway, please take the review as is, and if you we looking to an alarm clock with similiar prerequisites steer clear of this one. I wish/hope that these flaws are corrected and welcome any feedback to highlight better alternatives.

Hope this helps,

I personally don't regret getting this alarm clock, there are some downsides but they are easily negligible.

Pros:

-The bedshaker and alarm is very effective

-The sound quality of the speakers is decent

-The time on the clock is clear

-The alarm clock is multipurpose, can serve as a speaker system for your laptop or computer if you desire

-The radio is pretty good, the antenna is small and can provide decent service

-You can change the brightness of the screen display

-iPods work in general, and this clock charges it

-You can use it without an AC adapter by batteries

-Snooze button is easy to access when you're dead asleep

Cons:

-It is confusing to use at first, you might adjust to the controls

-The buttons are very loud, so you might disturb the other person if you share your room

-iPhone 3G shows up as not compatible for some reason, but you can charge it perfectly

-May cause problems in your iPod if you use sleep

-Bit overpriced

In all, this alarm clock is good, but there are small things that can be fixed. It's a bit overpriced, but I really liked the design which brought me to buy it. Amazon has some of the price slashed then if you bought from the original company. - Clock Radio - Docking Stations - Ipod Alarm Clock - Alarm Clock'

Health And Diet - health and diet, diet

My fiance did the Body-for-Life challenge and lost 40 pounds in 12 weeks! Currently we are 2 weeks in to another Body-for-Life challenge and we've found the biggest problem for us is lack of interesting food to eat. We decided to pick up the Eating-for-Life book to hopefully get some better recipes and all I can say is WOW! Bill Phillips really outdid himself with this book. This book starts with 70 pages describing many of the ideas about food he covered in his bestselling book, Body-for-Life. As he explains, diets are BAD. They are impossible to maintain, so 95% of people who go on diets end up gaining back everything they lost (and often MORE than they lost). His philosophy is to eat balanced, nutrient-rich meals six times a day. This keeps you full, so you never feel like you're starving, and also signals to your body that its getting the nutrients it needs and can stop storing all the fat. This is the first time I've seriously done the Body-for-Life challenge and I've already lost 8 pounds of fat! The biggest problem for me, as I said, was how BORING I thought healthy foods were. This book has shown me how wrong I was! The first day I got it, I flipped through it and salivated at all the delicious recipes! There are over a hundred GOOD recipes in here, including shrimp scampi, chicken noodle soup, filet mignon, chicken fajitas and SO much more. There are even several healthy dessert recipes, including fruit crepes, cheesecake and walnut brownies! The recipes are not only healthy, but extremely easy to prepare and very delicious! A lot of people have said that Bill Phillips plan takes a lot of dedication and hard work, and that's true. But there is no "easy" diet out there. I've tried some of the "fad" diets, including low carb diets and diet pills. While they sometimes work, I found them impossible to stick to and maintain weightloss on. With Body-for-Life, and especially now with this AMAZING cookbook, I can eat healthy, delicious meals AND lose weight. Plus, with Body-for-Life, you have a free day every single week (usually Sunday) where you can eat whatever you want in whatever quantities you want. I highly recommend checking this book out, even if you aren't interested in the Body-for-Life program. The recipes are better than I've seen in most diet books. Eating For Life

I have been doing the BFL plan, and lost over 30 pounds. The problem I had was finding ways to have variety with my eating plan. The food list is small, but after a while you ran out of ideas for meals.

This book is perfect, and I'm so happy he put it out. I really enjoy this cookbook. The title of the book says it all. Eating for LIFE. This is NOT a diet, but a way of life. Diets do not work, they are temporary solutions, and you don?t want a temporary solution, but a lifestyle solution. If you want to win the battle of the bulge, this book with the BFL book is the perfect lifestyle solution. If you exercise and eat the recipes from this book you will lose weight. You can?t do one without the other. Exercise and proper eating go hand in hand, and Bill stresses that. "Eating for life takes the guess work out of eating right.", and it really does.

There are some really easy and very satisfying recipes in this book. My favorites:

1. Taco pasta salad

2. Turkey Rueben

3. BLT wrap (I especially enjoy the mustard/mayo spread I make from another BLT wrap recipe!!!)

4. Zesty Italian Chicken

5. Grilled Salmon

6. Spaghetti and Meatballs

7. Balsamic Salmon Salad

8. Baked Chicken Parmesan

9. Sloppy Joes

10. Spicy buffalo chicken sandwich

11. chicken noodle soup

12. chicken tenders

13. strawberry cheesecake

14. berry parfait

15. Spanish omelet

16. ham & Egg sandwich (I don?t eat ham, so I use turkey)

17. Turkey bacon melt (this is simply delicious and easy!!!)18. eggs Florentine

19. turkey sandwich

20. chicken Caesar

21. chicken pita pizza

22. cilantro burrito

23. chicken quesadillas

24. mile high baked potato

25. turkey burgers

26. BBQ chicken pita pizza (I love this pizza, healthy and very tasty!!!!)

As you can see my list is long, and I just love this book. You can find something different to eat daily if you plan, and shop for everything you need.

I?ve noticed some people complain that the recipes are bland. I have not tested any of the dessert recipes mainly because I eat fruit when I want something sweet. But for a lot of the meals I use my own special touches by adding spices to snazzy up my recipes. You can do some amazing things with basil, oregano, and other spices. For instance I added more pepper to the spread used for the BLT wrap, and it came out excellent! This is a great addition if you are following the Body 4 life fitness plan, but at a loss of meals to eat. This book has a lot of variety, so if you try something new you will never run out of meal ideas.

I bought this 405-page book by Body For Life guru Bill Phillips, sight unseen via the internet, because I'm a fan of the BFL exercise/nutrition philosophy - although, sadly, not faithful follower - and I enjoy cooking. I've made quite a few of the recipes and can report they are easy to follow, reproduce good results and give budding BLF types some badly needed ideas for sticking to the nutrition part of their Challenge. Several recipes are outstanding; my personal favorites being Mom's Chicken Enchiladas and Turkey Sloppy Joes, while some are unappealing to my taste which is par for the course with any cookbook. One unique aspect for BFL buffs are 69 useful pages in the front that explain "Eating for Life Facts", and in the back are another 54 pages with a section of recipes and comments from typically inspiring BFL Challenge winners, two weeks of BFL meal plans using recipes from the book, and some useful basic cooking tips for neophyte chefs.

Now, three warnings: First, quite a few "recipes", perhaps 5%-10% of the total, are really BFL meal/snack suggestions that don't need a color page of instructions (e.g., half a cantaloupe and cottage cheese or two sliced hardboiled eggs with a sliced orange). More problematic is that there is absolutely NO nutritional data - e.g., calories, protein/carbohydrate/fat mix, etc. - for the recipes. This is particularly disappointing because even cookbooks that don't claim to support a physical transformation program often have this information. Yes, I realize BFL emphasizes controlling portion size rather than calorie counting, but I'm a little suspicious that many recipes are heavy on the carbo side of the protein/carbo equation because so many have bread, tortillas or pasta which Mr. Phillips normally discourages. Along this same line many recipes are "comfort-food" to most Americans that rely on some form of cheese, sauces or dressing; without taking GREAT care to use fat-free ingredients these will easily become comfortably negative component of one's physical transformation.

I recommend this book to people looking for recipes that combine the BFL protein/carbo philosophy with basic American-palate-friendly family type home cooking. But to avoid blowing your BFL Challenge you'll need to be VERY careful about ingredient choices and focus intensely on portion control, which is the ultimate key to BFL nutrition success. - Cookbook - Diet - Body For Life - Health And Diet'

Choose Your Own Adventure - science fiction, action

I've started looking for choose your own stories for my son. We read books together each day. He loves mysteries and I thought this sounded like a great adventure. Several of the paths taken lead to your disappearance... or whatnot. There are a few other promising twists, BUT, you have to get the next book in the series to continue your adventure.

I was expecting an all-in-one book, not have to get the next in the series to finish your story. Disappointing. We won't be continuing on with the next book...

You should note, the story is geared towards middle school and older readers. The Golden Path: Into the Hollow Earth (Choose Your Own Adventure: The Golden Path Vol I)

Some may find it hard to imagine how, with a printed book, the reader can actively participate in the adventure...but it's true. The popular Choose Your Own Adventure has been revamped, re-energized and relaunched, to the utter delight of parents and young adults everywhere. With this ingenious series, the reader has the opportunity to make multiple choices throughout the novel, which changes the plot twists, the characters that you will meet and at what stage you will interact with each. The right choices will lead you, as one of the main characters, into a secret world that exists beneath the Earth's crust.

As one of the main characters, you (the reader) are, quite literally caught up in the action and your choices effect the other characters and the progression of the story. The Golden Path: Volume One opens with an interesting, scientific prologue, which sets the tone for the scenery, ideologies and difficulties that the people in author Anson Montgomery's future face on a daily basis. The first chapter opens with a scene every student can relate too...three friends, in the library, studying for a big exam. And through the creative imagination of CYOA, you (the reader), are one of the three. The heart of the story revolves around your parents archaeological dig at Carlsbad, New Mexico and a very odd shard of pottery your friend Peter found outside the dig site. Convinced the artifact once belonged to a culture that predates the American Indians and utilizing the individual talents of each of your friends, the three of you receive special permission from your teacher to work together on the AP History project. It's true that history effects the future, but you and your friends had no idea how that piece of pottery would devastate your present and put your future in jeopardy.

Choose Your Own Adventure is an entertaining, adventure series that engages reader, however, flipping back and forth, skipping numerous chapters only to go back to them later may be confusing for younger readers. A mix of ancient history, futuristic adventure, scientific learning and creative imagination, woven around three best friends who must use their individual strengths to solve problems together. Utilizing age appropriate narrative, the book deals with family issues, friendships, loss, jealousy, grief and ultimately survival, understanding and healing. I would recommend this book (*& the series) to children who enjoy a book that doesn't fit the normal definition of "book." The characters are believable, with just enough futuristic karma to grab the attention of today's high-tech kids. With four story lines developed to move from Volume One to Volume Two, your individual choices play-out before your eyes. I think parents should be made aware that it is necessary to purchase both volumes, because without the second volume some "choices" are not available, thus changing the outcome. With the website, more information should be available and it allows the kids to participate in activities related to the stories. Definitely worth reading, a solid 3.5 and destined to get better with each new installment.

Happy Reading!

This book is fantastic. Check your soul at the door, pay the ferryman his gold and prepare for darkness. Is that a cold skeleton claw-fist knocking at the door? Or a smutty boned visage sneeringly telling us the instructions: 'Wanderer, choose wisely'. Where the heck are we?!

Beware! As we have learned from previous CYOA installations, all that appears 'Golden' might be the very path that dashes our hopes on the rocks of the past, present and future. There is something below the surface of the water. We've once again separated the name from from meaning, discovering the contextual evidence of a CYOA adventure. Are we prepared for the consequences of our subjective moral decisions? Can we hold our decisions up to the Golden light? I refuse to surrender to the night. I shall wander and touch my hand to the 'Golden Path'. This book provides a light across the steaming river Styx. Something awaits on the other side. - Adventure - Magic - Science Fiction - Action'

School Supplies - school supplies, smelly markers

These were sent as a "Just because" gift to my granddaughter who is 9 - she loves them - as do her older sister - the scents are bold enough to tell but my daughter says they do not "stink" - the colors are pretty and washable if necessary - great product at a great price!!! RoseArt Scented Broadline Washable Markers, 11-Count (3433VA-48)

I bought these for my girls and they have performed pretty well. The markers have nice bold colors with a variety of scents. The only problem I have found with them is if my 4 year old colors and entire picture with one marker (which she is prone to do) the marker gets dried out. But I would think any marker would do that.

Thought I would give these Rose Art scented markers a try, because the Mr. Sketch ones are a lot more expensive, and my kids can't keep their hands off of my Mr. Sketchs. Well, you get what you pay for in this case. I might have been happy with the Rose Art ones, if I did not already know what the others were like. The Rose Art ones have much less scent, a few of the scents you can't really smell much at all, not enough to figure out what they are. Some of them are very pleasant smelling and robust. I would rate them as "okay". - School Supplies - Smelly Markers'

Great American Songbook - big band, jazz vocal

If you're contemplating buying a Sinatra allbum, it would be difficult to go wrong with this one -- most of what is included here really is among the best of Sinatra's work at Reprise. To some extent, however, this represents the most commercial of his later recordings, which means that many artistic highlights are excluded. On the plus side, the 1963 re-recording of 'I've Got You Under My Skin' is sensational, even if the 1956 Capitol original is often mentioned as the best popular song of the century. 'Summer Wind', from the 'Strangers in the Night' album of 1966 is perfect, but the title track -- included here because it was a huge hit when released -- is schmaltz. Sinatra said he hated it when he recorded it and rarely if ever performed it. In contrast, 'Wave' (not included here) recorded with Antonio Carlos Jobim, rated as one of Sinatra's personal favorites and it is a piece of vocal nirvana -- but it was less successful than 'Strangers' and so is omitted. A magnficent 1967 collaboration with Jobim ('The Girl from Ipanema', 'Corcovado') is inexplicably not represented here.'Luck Be A Lady,' a Billy May arrangement that originally appeared in the Reprise Repertory version of 'Guys and Dolls', is one of the most exhuberant Sinatra recordings ever. It swings, and the vocals are a tour de force -- when he sings that 'a lady doesn't wander all over the room', listen to the inflection and the long lines without obtrusive breathing. Astounding.'Night and Day' and 'All or Nothing at All' are Sinatra standards that he recorded for Columbia, Capitol and here Reprise. While the Capitol version of 'Night and Day' is one of Sinatra's best recordings of all time, this version is especially stately and grand and worth hearing. 'The Theme from New York, New York' and 'It Was A Very Good Year' may be the best here, because they are not remakes, and the deepened baritone of 1965 FS ('Very Good Year') and the coarsened 1979 version ('NY NY') serve these tracks well.Overall, some great material. Any collection will overlook significant recordings, but even the listener who owns 50 or 60 Sinatra albums would find occasion to play this one. If this album is your introduction to Sinatra, consider Reprise's 'The Very Best of Frank Sinatra' instead -- mostly similar material, but with 'Wave', 'Witchcraft' and some great early Reprise material with Johnny Mandel ('A Foggy Day') and high octane Count Basie ('Nice Work if You Can Get It'). Also, I cannot recommend urgently enough that you consider a 'best of' set from Capitol and, once you are completely hooked, the 'best of' set from Columbia. There is probably no more perfect musical experience than listening to Sinatra singing Cole Porter in the evening, drink in hand, through your favorite speakers. If you have not yet experienced the original concept albums -- well, then the best is yet to come. Reprise: The Very Good Years

Why was Frank Sinatra considered one of the 20th century's greatest singers (some say THE). Sinatra Reprise The Very Good Years is one of the key Sinatra CDs that'll show you precisely why. Sinatra fans will love this collection. And young people who are interested in singing-non rock (in his final years Sinatra's biggest fans included some of the rock's biggest names, who publically attested to his influence and their admiration for him) can find in this recording not only a good role musical model but proof (as rock's Bruce Springsteen now also clearly shows with The Rising) that a teen idol CAN age, create, innovate and wear well musically. Talent doesn't evaporate at age 30 or 40. The 20 tracks on this CD are somewhat unusual since they're incredibly diverse, include some re-makes of his earlier Capitol hits and even a "live" performance in front of an audience. Usually you can't find a collection that gives you the studio and live recordings in one. This CD's songs reflect the 60s/70s/and-yes-80s Sinatra, the show-stopping singer who had survived being a washed-up teen idol and had been born again in the early 50s as a "swinger" using only the best arrangers and orchestras at Capitol Records. By the 60s/70s and 80s Sinatra had managed to pierce the rock charts and get extensive radio play as many of his easy listening/jazz contemporaries vanished from the airwaves, not due to lack of talent but due to musical/demographic changes. But Sinatra's work, talent and song selection were so overpowering that his songs not only were played but SOLD while still getting critical rave reviews. My favorites here include the often-imitated theme from New York New York, ending in his final sock-em chorus where with gleeful pizazz he elongates the word "annnnnnnnnnnd"; My Kind of Town (Sinatra's zestful ode to Chicago, from one of his films); I've Got You Under My Skin (a slightly inferior remake of the1950s Capitol records version with the same lengendarily explosive Nelson Riddle arrangement); Strangers in the Night (a song he didn't really like and barely sung in concert); My Way (matched only by Elvis' unique but equally rousing version); That's Life (an almost harsh 70s-style rock-blues influenced number that he almost shouts); the Lady is a Tramp (Sinatra gave Cole Porter standards new life). There are many others. Fans of Tv's "Married With Children" will find his remake of Love and Marriage, the theme song on that show. But there is one song on this CD that I think is WORTH THE WHOLE COST of the collection: The Summer Wind. Here he returned to his 1950s innovative roots, producing an original version of this song artistically satisfying as it builds to its emotional show-stopping conclusion....with Sinatra then punctuating it with a final, unusually low, soft phrase. It's a homerun.Sinatra perfected this kind of singing. The Reprise label was his own and, as usual, he used state-of-the-art and only-the-best musicians and arrangers. STRONGLY recommended for Sinatra fans, young people who want to learn why Sinatra was considered great, and for young people interested in learning this kind of singing or using some of its techniques in their own music. You cannot learn from a better master than Sinatra -- and he has left a ton of great CD "instruction books" behind. - Big Band - Jazz Vocal - Traditional Vocal Pop - 1960s Pop'

Cell Phone Accessories - cell phone accessories, car charger

I bought it to charge our iphones in the car, or an iphone and ipad. Its not clear in the description if it works with those (some don't) and found out when I got it that only ONE of the two ports works for these devices, and the other port doesn't (it says so on the device itself too). It was so cheap it was worth the experiment, but doesn't work for its intended purpose of charging both our phones at once in the car.

** Update **

Used it once, and worked for a while and quit while on a car trip. Took it apart and found a bad solder joint. Re-did that, and it worked for a hr more or so, then quit altogether.... Skip this one and just get a Griffon charger; worth the extra money. 2-Port USB Car Charger Adapter for MP3, Cell Ph,...

I ordered this charger hoping to finally be able to charge my phone in the car. Unfortunately this piece of junk worked for one hour and broke after that. It is not worth the money... even though it is so cheap!

No way was u gonna pay $40 somtlething dollars for an iPhone charger, especially not one of those over priced ones from Apple. For about FIVE DOLLARS I get a TWO phone chargers because of this USB charger. Love it. Works great. Love it.

Great car adaptor for charging or using 2 usb devices. Most smartphones, bluetooth headsets, and tablet devices can charge off usb ports, so this works great. The only downside is that is about 1 inch longer than most 12-volt adaptors, and so does not fit properly in the center console 12-volt plug in.

Hi B0ught it with intention that it will be helpful for charging i-phone while driving along with My GPS. But only one port work at a time ,you either can charge Phone or GPS. Not of use for which i ordered it ..totally waste of money

I bought this for a road trip to charge my phone and iPod. It worked great for the first day and half then completely broke and not only stopped charging the devices, but also drained my devices faster because we didn't realize it was broken. - Car Charger - Cell Phone Accessories - Usb Adapter - Iphone'

Rechargeable Batteries - duracell, battery

[Updated Dec 24, 2008]

I was only half-right when I boldly proclaimed that "Duracell Pre Charged AA are rebranded Sanyo eneloop cells" in my original review. It turns out that the first batch of Duracell AA cells I bought from Amazon are made in Japan, and those are identical to eneloop (both mechanically and electrically). But lately I bought some more Duracell AA from a warehouse club. Those are made in China, and they are identical to the Rayovac Hybrid.

[Original review follows]

Judging from similarity of technical specifications and physical shapes of (+) and (-) terminals, I am convinced that the Duracell Pre Charged AA is actually SANYO eneloop AA underneath a different wrapper. Therefore all the good things you heard about eneloop apply to Duracell 'Pre Charged', too.

My own testing has shown that the capacity of eneloop AA cell is slightly above the claimed 2000mAh, and it is able to retain at least 85% of its charge after 5 months in storage. The Rayovac Hybrid AA starts with slightly higher capacity at 2100mAh, but it 'only' retains 80% capacity after 5 months. For all practical applications, both are equally good. Just pick whichever brand (Sanyo, Rayovac, or Duracell) is on-sale, and you can't go wrong.

One small problem with the Duracell 'Pre Charged' cell is that: it looked too similar to the well-known 'Copper Top' alkaline cell. So there is a good chance that people may mistaken it for a disposable cell. Personally, I prefer the distinctive-looking white case of the eneloop cell. But lately I bought some more Duracell AAA from a warehouse club. Those are made in China, and they are identical to the Rayovac Hybrid (see my scan in the Customer Images section). Note that the Rayovac Hybrid AAA has an average capacity of about 780mAh (compared to about 830mAh for eneloop AAA), so is not as good a value.

[Original review follows]

Judging from similarity of technical specifications and physical shapes of (+) and (-) terminals, I am convinced that the Duracell Pre Charged NiMH cell is actually Sanyo Eneloop underneath a different wrapper. Therefore all the good things you heard about eneloop apply to Duracell 'Pre Charged', too.

My own testing has shown that the capacity of eneloop AAA cell is slightly above the claimed 800mAh. The Rayovac Hybrid AAA is usually cheaper, but its capacity is slightly below 800mAh. Both brands are able to retain at least 85% of their charge after three months of storage. Just pick whichever brand is on-sale, and you can't go wrong.

Pros:

-For a rechargeable battery, these batteries does not need to be charged before you use it for the first time; right from the packaging into your gadgets.

-They last a long time.

-Does not need special charger. You can use your existing NiMh charger.

Cons:

-You can confuse them with regular Duracells and mistakenly thrown away after losing charge.

-This later technology is still expensive.

I also like Eneloops by Sanyo. But they are not easily available at your local stores.

I have been using these for a few months in my camera, Logitech Harmony remote, and in my Wii remotes and they have been great.

However, I was looking at batteries at Walmart today and noticed their new stock of Duracell Precharged batteries are being made in China and no longer have a white cap. They shoved the Japan made white cap batteries to the back of the shelf. This makes me think they are no longer Eneloops. I am a little nervous to buy another set of these as the only reason to make that switch in my opinion is to save money yet charge the consumer the same. This usually leads to an inferior product. The originals I have are made in Japan.

Anyway, maybe the battery review guru of Amazon will do a little comparison test of these new China made precharged batteries vs the Japan made batteries that seemed awfully similar to the Eneloops. I really hope the new version stands up to the old.

Pros:

-For a rechargeable battery, they do not need to be charged before you use it for the first time; right from the packaging into your gadgets.

-They last a long time. I use it everywhere, portable speakers, Wiimotes, toys, Panasonic, Dect 6.0 phones, 2-way radios...

-No need for a special charger. You can use your existing NiMh charger.

Cons:

-You can confuse them with regular Duracells and mistakenly thrown away after losing charge.

- It has been several years and still the price hasn't really come down.

I also like Eneloops by Sanyo. But they are not easily available at your local stores.

These batteries are great. The new 'precharged' technology is great where it can sit unused for a year and still have most of its charge unlike the older rechargeable technologies. These 800 mAh actually last longer in my noise canceling headphones then the 1000 mAh (non-precharged) of the same brand.

I had previously purchased Energizer rechargeable batteries and found that after only a couple of weeks of non-use they would be dead.. so every time you went to use them they would be useless. After getting these Duracells and also some PowerEx batteries, I realize that the Energizer batteries are cheap Chinese junk. oh, the duracells are made in Japan and are very nice quality.

Anyway I definatly would recommend the precharged Duracells to anyone. - Duracell - Nimh - Battery - 2009 Amazon Frustration-fre'
