Power Plug Adapter - travel converter, europe

Upon receiving the product, I first verified that it worked in the U.S. without the converter enabled as a simple pass-through adapter. Once it passed this simple test, I gave it to my girlfriend who successfully used the converter in Hong Kong to step down the voltage at her hotel and at the airport. In addition, her roommate at the hotel was from Beijing, China and was also able to use the device to charge her phone and use her laptop.

The adapter itself is made of plastic, so it's as durable as plastic can be. The knobs that slide along the side lock in place once you've fully extended the prongs. It's a little bulky compared to other adapters, but that's because it contains several mechanisms for various prongs and the voltage converter circuitry. It also holds the input plug very snug, and the output plug also feels like a sturdy connection to the wall outlet. Travel Smart By Conair Adapter/Converter Combo with Surge Protection

The unit is easy to use. It worked perfectly for my laptop. I did notice that for the camera charger, in the converter mode my charger became hot quickly so I could only charge for a few minutes at a time. And for my curling iron, the converter mode barely heated the iron while the adapator mode over-heated.

We purchased this Adapter/Converter for a trip to Thailand ..... fortunately, we had a back-up adapter/converter. The Travel Smart by Conair didn't work from day one. It's a poorly constructed, cheap plastic. No surge protection....and none of our appliances (hair dryer, electric toothbrush, etc) would work with it. In fact my hair dryer burned out the first time I used it with this device. It's priced cheaply, but definitely a waste of money.

I took this on a trip to Israel and had a bit of trouble using it at first. The plugs tend to weigh it down and pulled it out of the outlet. Not sure I would purchase it again... and choose the small individual ones instead.

I was in Europe and this product stopped working on day 3. i just repackaged and tried to send back to the seller. this option funny enough had expired the previous day. Thanks seller for a terrible product and thankyou amazon for being unreasonable with your return policies. Let me guess, my comment will be deleted. Diamond Blades

Tree roots lifted one section of a concrete patio (a real tripping hazard). Instead of busting & patching the lifted corner, I decided to try cutting an arc in the concrete. Using a small chain to anchor the circular saw, the saw equipped with the diamond blade, easily cut the arc with just 3 passes (adjusted deeper each pass). The blade stayed cool with a little water, just alot of dust. See customer supplied photo. Skil 79510 7-Inch Dry or Wet Cutting Turbo Rim Diamond Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch or Diamond Knockout Arbor for Masonry

I used this blade to dry cut several dozen bricks for a path. It worked quite well and saved me from having to rent a brick table saw for $70. It gets very hot so I kept a bottle of water handy to cool it down between cuts, not sure if that helped extend the life or not. Over all I was pretty happy with it for how much it cost.

I bought 2 of these saw blade so I can cut a big slab to of the concrete into square so it can crack along the cut line. I cut total of more than 200 feet of line 1.5 inch thick with one blade and it still look great. all you need is to feed it with a lot of water and it will do the job.

Used this blade to cut through some ceramic tile....cut thru like butter.. I also cut through some wood underneath the tile. That didn't workout as well but it still made the job easy...highly recommended blade.'

Scrub Brushes - water bottle, oxo

This brush is perfect for Nalgene bottles. It was not easy to find just the right brush, but now that I have, I am very happy. Another reviewer said that this brush was too big to fit in to a Nalgene bottle. That is not true. My Nalgene bottle has a 1 1/8" opening, which is the smallest opening I've seen for a Nalgene bottle, and this brush goes in and out of it with very little effort. The bristles are soft, which I like. It cleans much faster than my old brush because it's easier to control.

I have not reviewed many items, but I had to take the time to review this brush because every Nalgene bottle owner should have this bottle brush.

When I received my brush in the mail, some of the bristles on the end were flattened out from being in the box. After sitting on the counter overnight, the bristles had straightened back to their original form. So if yours has "bed head" when you get it, don't freak. It'll probably go back to normal with a little time. OXO Good Grips Bottle Brush

This is the first decent bottle brush I have found that fits through the neck of the narrow mouth Nalgene bottles. It's nice and soft, too, so I feel safe using it on my nice wine glasses. This brush was so hard to find so I was excited to find it here. Oxo better not ever discontinue this brush or I'll sue!!

This bottle brush is well made and GREAT for most things, but it has a THICK stem that will NOT go into regular size water bottles, so don't buy it for that! I tried to use it on the VOSS water bottle I use (recycle,) and for spice bottles, and my sport jug - it was hopeless. You need a regular old fashioned "baby bottle" brush with the thin wire stem for regular drinking bottles. OR TRY this incredible brush: Way Clean 33030 Bottle Brush which is under four dollars AND has a thinner shaft to fit more bottles, glasses, etc, and which is SLANTED to facilitate a thorough cleaning!

I have tried and bought over 5 baby bottle brushes in the past 2 months. I looked all over for one that cleaned well and wouldn't fall apart after a week! I am so happy I found this one. It looks like it would be stiff, but it's not. The bristles are soft and works great for baby bottles, water bottles and glasses. It really gets in to clean all the corners. I don't worry about it scratching the plastic at all. It has a long handle and it's well made. It even has blue bristles at the bottom so you can see through the suds.

I have had this brush for over two years now and I use it constantly. The colored end bristles are a little stiffer then the white ones so it's great for the bottom of jars especially the ones you have to clean for recycling. Makes hard work a breeze. After extreme daily use it still looks brand new, I just put it in a glass with bleach and water every so often to keep it nice and fresh. I purchased two and the other one is still under the sink with the tag still on it because I just can't wear this thing out! I LOVE THIS BRUSH! I bought one for a friend who looked at me like I was insane when I raved about it and now she tells all her friends to get one too! Get this brush, it is an amazing very well made cleaning tool!

I had been searching for this item for over a year. I decided to search on the web for it. And Whalla there it was. I did not let any grass grow under my feet. I ordered not just one but 4 of them. I rarely wash my dishes by hand at the sink. I use the dishwasher only. This brush is the perfect item to rinse the dishes off before sticking them in the dishwasher. It gets in the corners and crannies. I like doing this because I only run my dishwasher in the evenings only. Food never gets caked on. This little brush never scratches any dish or glass but is tough enough to clean out a pot or pan. The bristles are very soft so if you add a tiny amount of dishsoap to it, the lather builds up due to the softness of the bristles. Love it!!!!!!!!!!!....Mg

This is one of my favorite bottle brushes because the bristles are soft and evenly dispersed, including the tip of the brush where we need to reach into corners, crevices and bottoms of vessels such as thermoses, carafes, baby bottles, wine and drinking glasses without scratching their surfaces. The handle is sturdy and won't bend like wire-made brushes. I recommend this brush.

This is a good brush for the following reasons: 1) it's narrow and can fit into bottles/ Thermos flasks with narrow openings, 2) the stick bends slightly which makes it easier to get it into corners, 3) it has a comfortable handle. I can't think of any negative points.

I'm not sure which brush some of the other reviewers were using, but it clearly isn't this one. It easily fits into narrow necked bottles. Our family uses SIGG bottles and it does an excellent job with both the .6L and the 1L versions. Though it's barely long enough for the full size 1L bottles, it does work well. As other reviews have said, the neck of the brush is flexible, but that may be misleading. I was concerened when I read those because I thought that it was "pose-able", but no it just bends under pressure and straightens back out. The bristles are probably soft enough for plastic, but are stiff enough to clean around the small dents in an aluminum bottle. Really the biggest problem for me is; where do you store it when you're not using it? :)

PROS:

OXO tactile rubbery grip

Excellent balance between too soft and too firm bristles

Long bristles and narrow head to clean almost any type bottle

CONS:

VERY close to being too short (effective length __)

May actually be too short for some of the klean kanteen bottles I've seen

Back Pain - back, back pain relief

This helped me immediately, gives better support than one more than 3 times the cost. I purchased 2, and they arrived quickly. My only concern is that the elastic strap that goes around the back of the chair seems a bit flimsy, and may not last as long as I would like. Improving Lifestyles Mesh Back Lumbar Support

My chiropractor told me to get a lumbar support for my chair at the office, so I purchased this one as I had used a similar one before. The price was unbelievably low and the quality is very good. It is perfect for what I need. I highly recommend this product and this vendor for their prompt shipping and low prices.

I was disappointed in this product. I had seen a similiar one in a store that was much firmer (as I thought this one would be, as they looked alike.) It gives some support, but not enough. I'm not happy with it. - Lumbar Support - Back Pain Relief - Back Pain - Back'

Blu-ray Player - home theater systems, blu-ray player

LG LHB536 is a overall a good system for the price. Price will probably come down. So if you can wait to buy, keep an eye on the price. Sound is good and there are no wireless speakers but speakers are easy to hook up. The wireless connection is great for streaming video from Netflix. I love this feature. If you have cable set top box you connect the HDMI output from the box to an HDMI input on the LG system. Then you connect the HDMI out from the LG to an HDMI input on your TV. You DO NOT need a digital optical out cable if you connect using HDMI. The instructions that come with the system to set it up Stink but you can get good support by calling their support line.

PROS: Price, sound, picture, wifi with streaming video if you subscribe to Netflix, Vudu, cinemax etc., I POD connect, Bluray DVD. Good telephone support

Cons: The remote is not a learning remote, so it will not turn power on for your TV or cablebox. Manual is lacking details

Update to my review on april 18, 2011. LG has updated the software on this system to include Amazon VOD and additional premium applications. I have networked the Lg to my mac computer and I can listen to my music files and view my pictures on my TV. NICE! Amazon now has the best price on this system under $400.00. Buy it! LG LHB536 1100W 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System with Smart TV Integrated Wi-Fi

I normally would have ponied up for a real AV receiver and speaker setup, but my main issue was that I didn't have the room to fit a large Onkyo receiver. And in the small room I'm in, the little 5.1 system I had at the moment was fine, so I decided to look around and see what I could get that was smaller in size.

Pretty much all of my options had Blu-Ray players with them, which I didn't really need because I had a PS3, but I decided what the hell. I'm mainly buying this to have a 5.1 system that does HDMI, my old setup was using optical cables. Plus the newer DD and DTS modes is an upgrade for me and overall this is cheaper than buying a real AV receiver + speakers.

I'm pretty impressed with this system, it's got a lot of bang for the buck. For starters, this will be my default BD player now just because turning it on and starting up a movie is a lot faster than going through the PS3. Coupled with a HDMI switch, I have a total of 5 devices plugged into it, my DVR, a PS3, Xbox 360, a HTPC, and a HD-DVD player.

If you don't already have some type of HTPC or box for playing back video files and/or streaming, this device will take care of your needs. It plays MKVs and AVIs fine from a network or USB device, plays music files fine, has an app for online radio streaming that I love, and in an update last week, they added Amazon Instant Video playback, which is great for my free Amazon Prime videos. In the end, I'll still use my HTPC for my video playing because it gives me more features and options, but this is fine as a backup and I'll still use it for my primary online streaming playback. The online source it's missing though is Hulu. It does have Netflix, Vudu, and Amazon. (among others)

I haven't tried out the built-in radio tuner since what stations I'd listen to I can listen through the online streaming app, but this unit has an AM tuner unlike most of the other units out there, so if you want that for your sports radio/news/talk stations, you have that access.

I've been impressed with the LG SW updates too, there was an update already when I pulled the unit out of the box 2 or 3 weeks ago and an update last week that added some features, so they keep improving things.

It comes with an iPod/iPhone dock, I haven't tried my iPod but I've tested my iPhone 4 and it plays back ok. Unfortunately all playback is controlled from the player itself, not the LG. You'll want to fiddle with the sound modes because the Natural Plus that I use with TV (which mixes 2 channel audio into the center speaker) doesn't sound good with music.

About the only negative I have, which I didn't score against it because it's not it's problem, it's my remote's, is that there aren't any native codes for my Harmony One remote at this time, I had to have the remote learn them. But that's not a big deal, it's learned the codes so my remote works with it. The thing it's lacking is a direct code to switch between the HDMI ports, but that's not a big deal either because my HDMI switch has a remote with codes in the Harmony system, so all of my most used devices are on the switch.

Ok, I take it back, there was one thing I'd like to change, which is the speakers. I'd prefer to have speakers that had some type of protection over cones. That's just me, these do look nice and I've seen units from other vendors have the same type of lack of protection, so it's not a rare thing. The 535 cones had protection, but from I hear, the 536 pretty much fixes any flaws the 535 had, so I won't complain too much.

I don't normally do written reviews, only star ratings, but I had to put my 2¢ into the conversation. First of all, like some others I totally agree that it is ridiculous to expect a wireless speaker system if you know anything about systems at all, wireless or otherwise. The description is pretty clear in that the wireless term refers to the internet connection only. Anyway, I first bought an inexpensive RCA HTS, and would have been content except that the system was made defective from the factory (which I realized only after seeing reviews after I purchased- dumb not to research before I bought, I know). In disgust and in a hurry to try out the 3D on my new TV, I ordered this system and waited for it to arrive before returning the defective RCA system, and when I went from the old to the new, I couldn't believe the difference in the sound!! OMG, totally worth every penny spent on this LG system.

But, I do have a complaint. When changing inputs on the remote, the button descriptor is poor at best. I could figure it out, but my wife rolled her eyes when I tried to explain how to navigate through the new remote (so I know when I am traveling I will get the, "how do I put it on..." call). I was surprised that on the $160 RCA HTS, the system had 5 HDMI inputs and the remote had a button to match each input. The LG remote has 1 input selector called "Radio/Input" which each press scrolls through all the choices which cannot be re-named. They are HMDI 1, HDM1 2, AUX, etc.-- try explaining that to a non-tech-savvy spouse.

Back to the good points. The sound quality is what you want out of a system: thumpin' bass, crisp voice and good high end. I connected via LAN, and took advantage of some of the trial memberships in the first few days. Netflix online-only sucks, as the selection is limited to older releases. I quit Netflix a while back because of this, and thought they would have figured it out but hadn't. I canceled the trial membership the same night because I couldn't find anything we wanted to watch. Vudu was new to me, but this is the one for me. I watched an HD (1080p), 3D movie (streaming)with no hiccups AT ALL, and the picture quality was as if I had a 3D blu ray in the player-- amazing!

Bottom line: money well invested, and bringing our family together in one room to enjoy the new 3D TV/HTS system. Daughter now has the cool house, so we just need to keep the fridge stocked for all the teenage appetites! Now considering a cover charge to walk through our door. - Home Theater Systems - Blu-ray Player'

The product advertised is not even close to the product they sent me. Even now, when I look at the product in the top right of my screen, it has a drawer and room for three phone, two additional accessories, and whatever fits in the drawer.....THEY SENT ME A LITTLE BOX THAT BARELY HOLDS MY ONE PHONE!!! When I called the gentleman said I would just have to send it back. No apologizes, just, send it back. They originally offered to pay for return shipping until they realized the shipping would cost more then the product. Once that was realized he started trying to negotiate a price that would save them the shipping. Once he dropped the price to 7 dollars I was done even talking to him. In their defense, they did credit my account the difference, 6 days later.

The overall all feeling is that you are being lied to by this company about the product and that when you are not satisfied, they don't care. What stinks is I really wanted that charging station! Digipower CVE-CH Executive Edition Charging Valet - Cherrywood

I intended to give this as a Father's Day gift, but I am returning it for several reasons. First off there is a huge quality issue. The "leatherette lined" compartments are all thin sheets of plastic that are barely glued down and curling up around all edges. Some of the box joints had gaps on the corners and rear. On the functionality side, the power strip is configured such that you can't plug in more than two items that have transformers at the plug in(the big boxes like almost all small electronics have for charging). This fact alone makes it mostly useless for what it is intended for. If the manufacturer replaced the power strip with one that rotates the receptacles 90 degrees then it would be much more useful. Perhaps the quality issues were an exception, but giving one-star because this is what I have in hand.

We love our cell phone station charger. My husband and I store our cell phones there along with gift cards, watches, keys, and little change within the drawer. It can hold alot! I love that it is stylish. It can be left on the kitchen counter, but yet be in the bedroom. The price is great. It is a must buy!

I was very disappointed with the quality of the product. The pleather that lined to product was cheap and peeling. It was for my husband's birthday and needless to say, I was embarassed to give him the gift. I would not recommend this product or purchase it again.

Came as pictured. Power cord works. Did have a bit of a mix up (received wrong item at first) but was quickly corrected. Anniversary present for my husband. He is very pleased. He uses it all the time.'

Judy Garland

My new Judy set arrived today along with DRG's release of Judy's "The Letter" (will review separately). I didn't know what to expect, since I've purchased the previous issues of Collectable's complete Judy 2on1 albums. I thought the sound on those issues were pretty good. In this case, with an all new 2007 Remastering from the original session tapes, there is significant difference. The sound is vibrant and crystal clear as you would probably hear it being recorded in the sound booth at Capitol in the original high-fidelity mono. The packaging is gorgeous. The blue color is becoming to accent the black & white photos of Judy, some I've seen for the first time. Unique to this release is the complete JUDY IN LOVE album from 1958 is issued in Mono for the first time. The mixing for the mono release vs. what has been mixed and released in stereo is different and packs more of a punch. It is nice to have this version of JUDY IN LOVE, plus two comparing tracks added on Disc 3 of ZING...and I AM LOVED in 2007 remastered stereo. One track from THE LETTER and one from GARLAND AT THE GROVE makes this package. Still waiting on a complete CD release of THE GROVE concert recording. The London Sessions are also represented with two alternate takes that are previously unreleased. STORMY WEATHER and OVER THE RAINBOW are alternate TAKE 1's from these sessions in their complete form. Jacket notes state a combination of takes were used in the previous released versions.

Capitol/EMI here in the US should have considered a set like this when issuing CLASSIC JUDY GARLAND a couple of years ago. Though that is an excellent set, as is this new gem, both are not complete, so you need to keep both. The new set is a must for the extras and the extrodinary beautiful remastering. It keeps Judy alive and makes her best recordings shine so brilliantly. Very Best of Judy Garland: The Capitol Recordings 1955-1965

The Very Best of Judy Garland: The Capitol Recordings 1955-1965 gives us a remarkable 72 tracks on three CDs all proving beyond a doubt that Judy Garland remains the world's greatest entertainer. The sound quality is very good (at least on the copy I purchased) and the artwork reflects good taste, too. The liner notes are very informative.

The first CD starts with a stunning medley from Judy's LP entitled Miss Show Business. "This Is The Time Of The Evening/While We're Young" introduces Judy with a chorus that sings sweetly; and when Judy comes in her voice never sounded better! This is followed by an even better medley of "You Made Me Love You/For Me And My Gal/The Boy Next Door/The Trolley Song." Judy performs this second medley with great panache; she enhances the beauty of each tune with her singularly beautiful voice. The strings add to the arrangement very nicely, too. "Rock-A-Bye Your Baby With A Dixie Melody" has great brass and strings to accompany Judy's sublime vocals; Judy sings this with all her heart and soul. This number lacks nothing--it's THAT good.

"Over The Rainbow," is, quite naturally, given the royal treatment by Judy Garland as this was her principle signature song. It's perfect! "I Feel A Song Coming On" gets a snazzy arrangement and Judy doesn't sing a single superfluous note! Listen also for "Maybe I'll Come Back;" this old vaudeville song was reportedly one of Judy's father's favorites--but in any event Judy delivers this brilliantly! "Lucky Day" sparkles like gold when Judy sings this with heart and soul. "Me And My Shadow" begins with a musical flourish from the strings; and when Judy comes in this number truly takes flight!

The second CD is equally beautiful. "I Get The Blues When It Rains" is a striking torch song that Judy aces easily; and the strings on this tune are fantastic. "Just A Memory" is another torch song that Judy enhances with her singularly beautiful rendition of this ballad. "Zing! Went The Strings Of My Heart" was always one of my very favorite Judy Garland songs; I could never tire of this one! The percussion, brass and strings greatly enhance the natural beauty of this song. "Do It Again" has Judy singing a rarely heard opening verse; and as Judy sings the main lyrics to "Do It Again" this blossoms into a lush love song. There's also the zesty "That's Entertainment" from the LP of the same name; Judy attacks this number with all her might and she truly gives blood to make this perfect! I love it!

The third CD gives us even more. "Just You, Just Me" has a fine piano arrangement and Judy makes this sound fresh and new even if you've heard this a million times before! The "Judy At The Palace" medley gives us "Shine On Harvest Moon/Some Of These Days/My Man/I Don't Care." "I Don't Care," from the movie In The Good Old Summertime, thrills me every time I hear Judy sing this with all her might--it's a brilliant performance from Judy--as usual! The strings and more enhance the melody to make this extremely pretty and sweet. After being treated to an alternate take of "Over The Rainbow," we hear Judy performing another signature song, "The Man That Got Away." The horns make this so beautiful along with Judy's voice; this live track really is electric! "I Could Go On Singing" is from the movie of the same name; Judy delivers this so smoothly it stuns me every time I hear it. Listen also for two duets Judy sings with her daughter Liza Minnelli; we get "When The Saints Go Marching In" and "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands."

If you're a fan of Judy Garland this is a must have CD set for your collection. It's also a wonderful CD set for people who appreciate classic pop vocals and even some of the "oldies" songs as well. Get this today and enjoy!

As a member of the production team, I noticed and inquired about the comments that CD #1 had a manufacturing defect. EMI London looked into this with the plant, to learn that it did accidentally occurr on a few pressings, and it has been corrected. Our sincere apologies. It should not happen again. My information is that anyone who has a defective CD should be able to return it to the seller, and they will be supplied a new one. This is most unusual, and again our apologies. We were very pleased to see the comments on the booklet and excellent audio quality, as a great deal of time was spent on them. These recordings are glorious, and we wanted them presented in the best way possible.'

I just finished this book and frankly, this is a book that needed to be written. I have a significantly long training and coaching history, and most consider me to be well read and very aware of the subject and material.

Most books fall into two categories:

1) Your basic commercial garbage and gimmicks that while not always horrible range from overly simplistic to downright ignorant (most anything at your local bookstore and certainly this is mirrored in poor quality on the newsstand)

2) More advanced texts on the subject most of which are hard to find in addition to being beyond what most people are able to digest and be able to apply (Siff's Supertraining as well as the Russian works translated by Bud Charniga and others)

There is really no place for someone without a lot of experience and exposure to go to and learn real training and programming from the ground up. This book is unique in the respect that it provides what are considered very advanced topics and implementation in a book intended to be digestable for someone who is not an experienced coach or expert on the subject. That's not to say this is written at the idiot level, it's an in-depth read, but nothing that interest, motivation, and general grasp of the English language can't easily make it through.

On to the book.

To understand programming and organization, it's necessary to understand the responses to training, the constraints imposed by the body and how both change with the developing lifter or athlete. The authors provide all of the relevant systems and physiology including very thorough explanations of periodization and dual factor theory. The real value here is that this is perhaps the only work that clearly shows how and why programming will need to change as the athlete develops and this is far beyond the usual commercial garbage but down to the very nut and bolt level of managing training loads and volume always with the fastest progression available as the goal.

All of that background builds into the second half of the book where detailed plans, guidelines, and examples are laid out. This is probably the most useful piece as all the theory in the world won't help someone who doesn't understand what implementation should look like so working and evolving models are provided and examined in depth. Here they separate chapters into Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced trainees as categorized by the amount of time and work required to break through previous levels. A novice adapts and supercompensates on a workout to workout basis, an intermediate on a weekly basis or weekly periodization, and an advanced in multi-week mesocycle blocks of 4-8 weeks. They omit the Elite lifter (annual or semi-annual progress) acknowledging that it is beyond the scope, highly specialized and tailored, and that very few will even reach the need for the advanced stage let alone Elite. This organization makes a lot of sense in that trainees are not categorized by years of experience or weight lifted but by ability to make progress and what an appropriate program may look like for where they are currently regardless of how their lifts stack up to someone else's in the weight room.

The beginner section programs are laid out in detail and could almost be followed like a road map. The book explains what a program should look like, why it should look like that, ties it back to the theory and explains exactly what to do and why to do it when progress stops at a given point. This is not saying it is over-strict but it presents the plan as an example and discusses the issues as they arise in timeline- like fashion as well as offering choices and advice for selecting the best option in each situation. The intermediate centers around managing loads and sessions throughout the week and presents various progressive plans for how training will look as the athlete continues to develop. Building upon that is the Advanced where various periodization models are explained from the classic Russian models; to Mike Stone's, Head of Sports Physiology at the USOC, methods; to new research in hormonal fluctuation models and Glenn Pendlay and Mike Hartman's work on that subject to aid in pinpointing the precise levels of loading an athlete can handle and thereby instead of making educated guesses know exactly what amount can be and is being tolerated and exactly when to back off. A great deal of information here used by some of the very best athletes and coaches in the world.

A number of plans and methods at various points are laid out and explained in detail as well as plans for sport specific training and peaking for events consisting of accumulating different training capabilities and how to order them properly at points in time to arrive in best possible overall condition.

There are also many nuggets of practical information concerning anything from how to return from long layoffs, older or masters level lifters, to implementing weight training programs for those already very fit from other sports (high level sprint cyclists are an example).

I can't recommend this book enough. I've read just about everything and it's the only book that truly lays out a career (for most) or near career (for the most talented specialists) development plan as well as provides bottom-up background and theory to understand why the plan might look the way it does at any point. It is not pitching a best or only way or some revolutionary new discovery, it is patiently explaining what is known about the subject by the very best and presenting clear examples to guide one through implementation.

If one is interested in real training or looking to get the most out of oneself or one's athletes, this is the book to own. This is the whole science in a nutshell from the most basic to cutting edge implementation. It is how to develop a human from totally untrained to a full or very high level of potential with why and how things change along the way. This is a low-cost investment that will not only provide large returns in the short run but will continue paying off for your entire career. I can't recommend a book more strongly. My PC recently died and I replaced it with a new iMac with Mac OSX 10.5. I love my LaserJet 4 since it is so reliable and cheap to operate, and didn't want to rely exclusively on my inkjet printer. I decided to give this cable a try since it had good reviews. I took a risk using it on a Mac since it didn't state that it supported Macs, but it ended up working perfectly.

Installation was a breeze. Note that this cable does not plug directly into the printer, but plugs into the computer end of the existing parallel cable. I'm OK with that since it gave me more length. When I plugged it in, the Mac recognized it as a new printer with a generic driver. All I needed to do was change the driver to the HP LaserJet 4 driver and it worked fine.

I initially tried plugging this into a USB hub, but it only worked for a couple of sheets and then gave me a message that the printer was offline. I then plugged it directly into the Mac and it has worked perfectly since then. I also have another Mac and a PC on the network and they recognize the printer and print fine.

This cable is an ADAPTER for your existing printer cable. It will not plug into a centronics port. However, when combined with my existing printer cable, it worked great! I didn't even have to take any extra steps to add my HP Laserjet 6 printer to Windows XP.

I have an HP Laserjet 4L which is about 14 years old and I really did not want to part with it so I bought this parallel printer cable. I have four laptops, three with Windows XP and one with Vista Business. Like a good customer I followed the instructions that came with the cable but I could NOT get anything to print. I did a little research on the web and found the solution:

1. Do not install any printers or drivers or anything. Windows already has the drivers for HP printers.

2. Make sure your computer is turned OFF.

3. Plug the cable into the printer (printer is ON).

4. Plug the USB end of the cable into your computer.

5. Turn the computer on and the computer will do everything for you.

Verify that your printer is installed and print a test page. Set the printer as the default printer if needed. It was that EASY. This worked on each of my laptops. I'm really happy with this product - it was inexpensive, the print quality is excellent, and the print jobs even come out a bit faster!

The best advice I can give someone is to do just what you are right now: read online reviews! Lots of them. Go to the online sellers that have reviews (amazon, buy, new egg). You will eventually have to realize that the well-known name brands are more likely to work, but failures seem to be totally random and unpredictable. So be prepared to return it for a refund. I really think the manufacturers must be aware of the problems and they are choosing not to warn us.

I tried this adapter on four different printers and it only worked on one, which was, luckily, the one I really NEEDED it to work on. I also bought a cheap, no-name adapter off eBay which would not work at all and had to be returned.

I have a PowerMac running Tiger (OS X 10.4) and a Apple Laserwriter. Initially, print jobs would print, but only the first one after powering on the printer; subsequent jobs would fail. This was unacceptable. It turned out, however, that I needed to reinstall and update the OS on my MAC, and after that, printing was just fine with this adapter. There is a freeware print buffer enhancer called 'usbtb' which supposedly assists in this situation; I tried this and it prevented me from printing altogether!

I have a friend who has an iMAC running Leopard (OS X 10.5) and he has 3 HP printers. He and I were hopeful that this adapter would work for him and we decided to test it before he bought one. The Laserjet 2100 would just print blank pages. The old LaserJet 2P+ would not do anything. The LaserJet 4L would occasionally print something, but most jobs would not print and we could not really find any rhyme or reason behind this. So my experience is 25%, but even that is seeing it optimistically.

What's wrong with these things? All I can figure is that printer drivers/firmware at each end of the cable are not all that robust and have some tight communication timings such that an adapter like this will introduce slight time delays that can throw things off.

I purchased a new Dell computer with Vista and was surprised to see that it didn't have the 25 pin printer port as all my previous computers had. I have an HP Laserjet 1100 and didn't want to have to throw it out given it works perfectly fine. This adapter cable was easy to install and Vista had no problems identifying it. The adapter comes with instructions which you must follow to properly install the cable and attach the printer. Worth the money!!!

I use these cables to connect an HP LaserJet 4L and an HP BusinessJet 2250 to an XP computer with no parallel ports. Works seamlessly. Just remember to set up your printer to connect to USB port 001, 002, etc., instead of an LPTx port. From what I've read they even work through USB hubs. Super product!

UPDATE: I have now connected 3 printers using these cables, and all through USB hubs.

Recently I made the switch from a PC to an iMac. The transition has not been as smooth as I was hoping. It's taken me awhile to get used to the iMac and while I really like it for the most part, I'm still finding my iMac freezes up and crashes almost as often as my PC ever did--mostly when I have like 4-5 programs open and the internet going simultaneously. Kind of disappointing. Still, I like the iMac overall. And there is one thing I love about the iMac. You can plug almost anything into it and in my experience the computer almost always recognizes it immediately. That's what happened with my old printer and this cable.

When I made the switch to iMac I found out that my old workhorse HP LaserJet 4L wouldn't plug into my shiny new iMac because there was no parallel printer port on the iMac and there was no USB connection port on the printer. So my old printer sat dormant for 5 months while I exclusively used my inkjet printer and tried to decide if I should junk the Laserjet and buy something new. Then a friend told me there were cables out there that could make the connection. So I checked here on Amazon and sure enough there were several options.

I read a few of the reviews and decided on this cable since another reviewer had gone through virtually the same situation I had and made it work with his iMac. When I got this connection cable I plugged it into the end of the printer cable (Note: this connection cable doesn't plug right into your printer, you have to plug it into the end of your printer cable which is fine with me because it adds extra length).

Taking the advice of another reviewer I plugged the new USB end of this cable directly into the back of the iMac (as opposed to plugging it into the USB hub I have). And dramatically...nothing happened. No window popped up on the iMac telling me that a new printer was installed or found or anything. Bummer, I thought. The thing didn't work.

I looked at the instructions that came with the cable and there are NO instructions for using this with a Mac. There are only Vista instructions. So now I'm thinking either this thing doesn't work with a Mac after all or I'm going to have to go out on the internet and find a driver, etc. But then, out of curiosity I opened up System Preferences panel on the iMac and looked at the printer cue. Amazingly, there sat my HP 4L. Wow, I thought, the iMac never told me anything but just quietly hooked up my 4L ready to go.

Sure enough, I opened up a Word document and tried to print it out on the Laserjet and it worked like a charm. So I don't have to junk my old HP LaserJet 4L after all. For the $17 I paid for this cable it was totally worth it! - Printer - Usb - Cable - Parallel'

Swimming - thermal, swimming

I ordered this thermal suit based on the previous review which was saying it's a real wetsuit and was very disappointed- it is very thin, probably 0.1 mm compared to normally 2 mm for really thermal wetsuit. It is really a good quality item, well manufactured, looks great just like the picture, probably with a little thermal protection, we did not try it in the water because it was about 10 times thinner that the one we had before. I think it does provide UV protection as advertised and a little bit thermal protection, but the previous 5* review was very misleading to me. The manufacturer never claimed it was a wetsuit- that is why it is not called one. Speedo Kid's UV Thermal Suit, Blue, 4T

We have had our 2 yr old in swim class since summer and we are now in the fall class and they had reduced the water temp a lot!. Since the start of the fall swim our daughter has pretty much cried the whole time due to the water being soo cold and all she wanted to do was get out. We did some internet searching for toddler wet suits and came across this one even though it only had 4 reviews with only 1 being a bad review. We took a chance and ordered last week Thursday and got it by Friday. We ordered a 3T and it fit perfect!. On Tuesday 10/5/10, we went to swim class, and it worked! Our daughter enjoyed swim class again..yea! There were a couple of other kids in the pool with teeth chattering and some whining but not our daughter, she was soo happy! I would recommend this and I did to some of the parents at swim class last night.

I bought two of these speedo suits in pink for my girls 2.5 and 4.5. I got them in size 6-6x although I should probably have gotten my younger one a size 4T. I was looking for a size 5T but they don't have any so I got her the size up thinking that the 4T would be too small. This said, they both wore their suits on a trip to a water park where I knew the water temperature would be rather cold. The water was too cold for ME but THEY were fine. Also, because of the UV50 protection, I didn't have to worry about sunscreen...

I absolutely love this suit. It fits well, it is comfortable and has kept my daughters warm. I also love the bright pink color. It made it easy for me to spot them in the crowd. We plan to use them for their swimming lessons at the local pool.

I highly recommend it!

I am happy with the fit. It is not as tight as a wet suit and doesn't provide the same warmth as an actual wetsuet, but for the purpose of keeping my boys warm in the pool for swim practice or lessons it has been great. One of my boys doesn't like something tight around his neck so the crew neck with a zipper in the front is perfect for him

i wrote this review in July 2009...

"The suit is wonderful.

Pros: sporty, easy to get in/out, keeps my boy warm in/out of the pool even on a warm July day. I noticed a few wimpering/shivering kids around me, but we were happy.

Cons: smells like neoprene. Sizing worked out well for us, but could be a bit tricky. Customer service told us to get a 3T.

My boy is 2 years 8 months old, 37" tall, 36 pounds and wears 3T shirts, 2T pants. Based on Amazon reviews and the weight recommendation of Speedo, we bought the 4T. The suit is a little wide around the thighs and belly, but otherwise everything fits and works well. I figure this gives us some room to grow into."

AND NOW HERE IS A 2 YEAR UPDATE:

LOVE THIS SUIT! So now my boy is 3 years and 8 months, 46" tall and 46 pounds. He wears size 5 shirts and pants. The suit remains in very good shape. The suit still fits my boy serviceably. Yes, the shoulders and neck-line hang a little bit low, the thigh cuffs sit a little high on his mid-thigh. But it fits ok overall, and my boy still enjoys wearing it. One thing - he does put on a thin rash guard as an 'undershirt' for a bit of extra warmth (and he'll last for hour long pool sessions). We could probably make it through another summer, but I'm going to order the next size up and wait to pass this one along to his younger brother.

Received item in a reasonable time, in new condition and as described!

My son is 5 1/2 years old, I purchased a size 6-6X and it was a good fit.

Wasn't tight against the body like most people might wear it but wasn't loose, just about right. The quality was great and the colors were awesome. Thanks!

Though the swim lessons were at an indoor pool, my daughter stated she was very cold swimming in the pool. I wasn't sure if I wanted to purchase a wet suit or this "Thermal" suit for her. The differences were in the thickness and price tag. I picked the Thermal suit because I read it's more flexible than the wet suit. I didn't want the suit to restrain her movements during her lessons. I am happy to report the suit did its job. And because the water in the outdoor pools can get very cold, I will also be using it during the summer months.

Love this thermal suit. My 8 year old son is on swim team in AZ and this suit is perfect for him. It keeps him warm while he swims during practice and his swim meets. If it wasn't for this thermal suit he would have had to give up swimming during the winter season. The suit is well made and easy to wear while swimming laps because it's not that thick. I would highly recommend this thermal suit.

- Swimming - Speedo - Thermal - Swimwear'

Warm Socks - warm socks, izod

I agree with the previous reviewer: these are quite thick for "crew" socks. They are as thick as sport socks. Nevertheless, they are true to size and good quality. Fast shipping. Great colors. Great under jeans. IZOD Men's 3-Pack Multi-Color Casual Cotton Crew Sock 3 Pack, Earth (Brown/Green/Beige), One size

I like these socks. They feel a little thicker than the normal cheap sock. They are also fairly soft. I've had them for several months now and they are holding up well. I haven't used the dryer on them. I just wash them and hang them up to dry.

This is a nice set of brown socks for fall/winter. I took off one star because 2 of 3 of these sets are suprisingly tight on the top. That makes me concerned that it isn't elastic enough to last.

Other than that these are very comfortable socks, a hard-to-find 3-pack of browns for a reasonable price, and they helped keep me warm over the last couple of weeks of cold winter weather in Cleveland. I will probably get another set of these next Fall if they're still holding up.

I was tired of buying socks and having them wear out in six to eight months. I decided to buy these and am glad I did. They are comfortable, they fit well. The only negative I can think of is that I find they slip to the side when I am walking around the house and I have to fix them when I sit down. I do think they are worth the money spent. - Warm Socks - Izod - Socks'

Inflatable Boats

This boat is very durable but not heavy and a great buy for the price. We had it inflated in about 10 minutes (the pump works nicely), and deflated in about 2 minutes (it has quick-deflate valves).

We fit a man, a woman, a large bag, and a small cooler in this boat. It was a bit cramped but manageable (it seems like you could almost fit three small people in the boat, though that would make rowing very difficult).

I was a little worried about the paddle-blades as they seemed a bit flimsy, but they've worked great on our two trips and are sturdier than they look. This boat was a fantastic buy and a ton of fun. Intex Seahawk 2 Boat Set

This boat is working out great. I use for fishing ponds nearby. It seems very safe and I can manuver it around. I did order the high speed pump and that I like. Also, I ordered 3lb river anchor for this boat. When fishing a slight breeze will move you on the water. Overall, I am very pleased with the product.

I love this little boat. I use it on the lake for fishing and it has been awesome, its lets me fish in spots the i normally couldnt from the shore. the oars seem flimsy but i have had no problem with them, i even use them to push me off/on shore. i have had this boat for about 4-5 months and used it probably around 20 times. i recently got a small hole and i mean tiny(more like a tear, probably from a fishing hook) in the side. the boat comes with a patch kit but i just put a small piece of duct tape over it and it still worked like a charm.

I have had two adults in this boat multiple times, with two people it is a little cramped but is still usuable for fishing(with two people its best to sit sideways with you feet/legs hanging off the side), for one person its a great size and i can basically lay back and fish. (do not forget to have PFD's for each person in the boat even if your in 3 ft of water or you will get a $130 ticket from the game warden like i did! >.<)

Like it says it will still float with just the inner chamber inflated, just makes it alot harder to get around (they day i found out there was a hole). The only negative about this boat its pumping it up, its takes about 7-10 mins, it says to never use an electic air pump (even amazon tries to sell you one?).deflation its very easy although the floor chamber takes a bit of effort to deflated cause you must pinch the hole to let air out. for the money this boat has made my fishing so much more fun!!

o and if you use it like i do, dont forget you'll need to buy a little anchor, i use an 8 lb mushroom anchor with just some regluar string to conserve space, i dont know what kind of string it is but it looks likes a big roll of shoe string, it was on the same aisle with the anchors at academy.

This boat is a great value and honestly is very well built. Its not something I would enjoy spending any lengthy about of time in, but its perfect for camping adventures when your just dying to get across a small to medium lake. The Rowing position is a little awkward and takes some getting used too, but two adults can reasonably fit and enjoy and outing on the water.

Im ten years old so my standards are very low. I got this boat for a birthday present and even with my low standards I was impressed. Every year we have a family reunion and it just so happens that we had it this year at a lake. I have five cousins that I had to share the boat with and even with all the wriggling the boat seemed very stable. the boat did get one tiny hole but we bought a patch kit and that was easily fixed. This is an outstanding boat. it holds 440 pounds. I wouldn't reccomend two adults in it though. One would probably work the best. All in all, you cant beat this boat. You wont be dissapointed.

This is a great boat. The person with the one that let out air must have been a dud. Mine is perfect! I can carry it the 100 yards to the lake. The 3 air chambers have not let me down! If you can, put a motor on it, but I am fine without one. I just took it out yesterday and got caught up in some brambles, but no cuts or scratches! I love it, trully do! If you want a cheap but sturdy boat to mess around in, then get this one. No kidding. Its roomy enough for a person and gear. Not to comfortable for 2 people, so get the bigger one if you want it for more than 1 person. I had a bookbag with the boat gear, 2 medium sized tackle boxes, a fishing pole, a lunch pack, and myself. Perfect for one person, get bigger one for two people.

Went down the river with it, my wife was very comfortable. It fits one adult comfortably, and the oars were a great help. The only negative comment is that the oar holders provide limited mobility, we just used the oars without having it in place. Definately recommend.'
