Kindle Reading Lights - kindle accessory, kindle book light

The light has really only got to do two things well: stay in place and provide glare-free light.

The clip mostly works, though it can be dislodged rather easily. The clamp is not a levered-clothespin, but a parallel clamp that doesn't exert a whole lot of pressure when in place. Not a dealbreaker for bedtime readers, but just don't expect to leave this thing in place while walking around the house or transporting in a bag.

The LEDs put out as much light as a decent flashlight. It's not a peaceful, soft glow but a serious task light on a gooseneck. It's bright enough to annoy a spouse... even a spouse that's watching TV. If Belken knocked the lower setting down to about 1/3 its current brightness, it'd be plenty bright for reading the Kindle. The switch is on the lamp head, which itself is pretty small. Flicking the tiny switch with a thumbnail isn't that bad, but it's easy to flick right past the lower setting and end up lighting up the whole bedroom for a second --before switching the thing off by accident (missing the lowest setting, again). By doing this you end up creating a momentary disco effect in the bedroom just trying to get the thing turned on.

Having AAAs instead of coin batteries in the light is a welcome convenience. You're more likely to have AAAs around the house than some little watch battery. Changing the batts is as simple as changing the batts in a TV remote control; there are no little screws contend with. I haven't had it long enough to judge its battery life, though.

But be aware that the using 3xAAAs in a light does add a considerable amount of weight to the top of the Kindle. The concern isn't really with the weight it adds, but the way it affects the balance and ergonomics of the Kindle. I found the I had to hold the Kindle up a bit higher than I was used to. Holding something for an hour or two, you find that a little change can make a big difference. I found I liked clipping the light to the bottom of the Kindle to keep the center of balance low. But, this covers up the space bar and some other keys. The next best thing is to clip it to the side of the Kindle I'm holding, just above the page turn buttons.

Pro:

AAA battery's easily available and simple to replace

2 brightness settings

Flexible head is easily adjustable for glare-free reading

Con:

Too bright. Even on it's dimmer setting, it lights half the bedroom.

Heavy, affects the handling and balance of the Kindle Belkin Clip-On Reading Light for Kindle (White)

Like Periwinkle I have been collecting various lights for my Kingle 2. After reading Perkiwinkle's review, I bought this light. I absolutely love it. It is much lighter than all the other lights for the Kindle 2. It can be adjusted where there is no glare. I have been using it every day for going on a couple weeks. I do a lot of night reading so the weight, amount of light is important to me. I find this to be the perfect lightweight and the amount of light perfect.

Now I have to figure out what to do with those other lights as this is the perfect light for the Kindle 2.

I have a gel cover on my Kindle 2 and the light fits over it very well. Admittedly it is a snug fit, but that what I would want.

I would give this 100 stars if I could.

So i've been surfing around for a light for my kindle for a bit, the only requirements being that it lights up my kindle and wont hurt it/scratch it. As per these preconditions i've been hesitant to buy some of the others that you can get like the Great Point Light Flex Neck Clip-On reading light or the M-Edge e-Luminator2 Booklight because i also like to read with my kindle 'naked'.

So i saw this one and decided to give it a go -

- Does a great job lighting up my kindle, there are no glare spots that cant be coaxed away

- Fits on my kindle like a glove, an im not worried about any damage done because of the anti-slip grip

- It's nice and light so you barley notice it when your holding your kindle

- It squishes up for easy travel

- And kudos to the 'guaranteed frustration free packaging' which i just found amusing

Overall, i am very happy

For those of you who have tried to find reading lights for your Kindle, you know there are surprisingly few to choose from on Amazon (at least at the time I looked). After reading reviews on the ones available, I decided on this one. I can't compare it to others, like some reviewers have, but I can say I love it. It's light and compact and easy to carry and use. The light has 2 settings, high and low. High is a little too bright for the 6" Kindle but may be needed for the DX. The low setting is fine and even tho there is a bit of glare, you can adjust that by moving the light a bit to counter. So far, the batteries (3 AAA) are lasting a long time. I am very happy with this purchase and hope my review helps in your decision. - Reading Light - Kindle 2 Book Light - Kindle Accessory - Kindle Book Light'

Cordless Saw - lithium battery, lithium-ion

I have owned a set of Makita tools with the LXT batteries for a couple years now and I have noticed absolutely zero power loss or any other problems. I use them quite regularly whether building concrete forms, decks, remodels, etc. I can think of three things that may be happening to the batteries of those who have commented on bad performance or longevity; (1) Occasionally, batteries can be bad from the factory (I have yet to own a milwaukee tool with the new "V" or "M" series battery that holds up past a few months. I have both V28 and M12, and have had ALL packs replaced) (2) It is possible to have a bad charger which is damaging the batteries itself, or (3) Perhaps the users are taking them all the way to the point of stalling and complete discharge, and for that the batteries are truly not made to do. It is best that once you notice the battery pack is wearing down, to grab a fresh one and put the discharged on the charger to cool down and refresh. Also, if the batteries are being stored for most of their life, it is best to keep the charger plugged in and rotate batteries through it to keep everything active and refreshed. Lithium batteries have computer chips and sophisticated circuitry, allowing them to constantly be charged without damage. Ni-Cad on the other hand are not supposed to be charged over and over again because they typically have memory effects and lifetime charging limits. It is best to mostly, not completely, discharge a Ni-Cad before replacing back onto the charger. Because a consumer only has ultimate control of this last variable, it is a good idea to read the owners manual and find out what the manufacturer thinks is best operating practices. Only those who are using the batteries and tools know how they are being treated, and you may very well be doing everything right and not fall into this third category. Being that my kit is from a couple years ago, and my newest battery packs (purchased just for continued use because I have many LXT tools) were purchased last year sometime, it is possible that the newer batteries are of a lesser quality, and that would be unfortunate. What I can say is this; I own many Dewalt tools, which I have only had to replace a couple Ni-Cad battery packs in the past 5 years. (Dewalt tools are mostly made in Mexico) I have owned MANY Milwaukee tools in which their Ni-Cads held up pretty well, but their Li-Ion line is absolute crap. Several years ago when their tools were still made in the US, their quality was impeccable. Their tools are now made completely in China. (Yes, many of the Makitas are also) I own several Bosch as well, and their batteries and tools are right up there with Makita's quality. As far as Skil, Black and Decker, and any other cheaper or knock-off brand goes, I would personally never purchase them. For one, you are supporting China, and secondly you would be purchasing a tool that is undependable. Hitachi has an excellent warranty, and makes excellent air nailers, however I'm unsure of the quality you may find in their power tools, both corded and cordless. I hope this was helpful. Makita BL1830 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Battery

Really, these batteries provide seemingly endless power. They hold their charge for weeks with very little loss. I can use one battery for drilling and driving throughout an entire (moderately sized) project. They are extremely lightweight and charge in twenty minutes or less usually (in hot weather it takes longer). All three of mine slide on and off easily, with no issues of binding or falling off. With all the praise comes a VERY important caveat. DO NOT run these batteries into the ground. The instructions state that as soon as you notice a loss of power, stop and charge. If you over-discharge Li-Ion batteries, you can seriously degrade the life of the battery. These batteries are 1/3 cheaper on Amazon.com than at the home centers, so buy from here! Also, only the cells themselves are made in Japan, all other parts are made and final assembly is in China.

I love the drill but the battery life is a real problem. I had both original packs replaced under warranty when the charger reported them bad. Now one of the replacements is flashing bad on the charger. These have been cycled maybe a dozen times. I'll be complaining to Makita and also reporting this on the various woodworking groups I support.

I replaced a 14.4 Milwaukee NiCad with a Makita LXT and noticed that my old Milwaukee NiCads outlasted these in terms of longevity. Run time is solid, but lifespan is short. Two dead after one year, I'm only a homeowner. I've only done a few lengthy jobs such as putting cement board down in a 10x20 room, and building a deck with these, in addition to the other basic tasks of drywall, and other light construction needs. Love the light weight though. Now, I need new ones. Somewhat disappointing.

I went ahead and invested in a pair of these batteries despite the mixed reviews, figuring I'd at least get a year out of them with the warranty. So far, they've performed just fine, even on tools that are supposed to only use the BL1830. I mostly use them on the BHP454 drill (note: this is one of the tools that's keyed for the 1830 pack) and BTD141 impact driver when I'm not going to be using them for long, so the decreased runtime doesn't bother me. I also use them on the angle grinder and recip saw (after removing the little tab on the tools) for light work in tight spaces. I wouldn't want them to be my only batteries, but they're a great addition to a couple of the larger batteries if you have a few tools that can use them.

These slim packs are very handy on the drill, impact, and flashlight- the lighter weight and smaller size are noticeable, especially with the smaller (BDF/BHP452) drills. However, buyer beware when it comes to using them on the 'heavier' tools, as they are keyed for the larger batteries because they can draw more current than these smaller batteries can provide without damaging the cells. So you probably shouldn't slap one of these on your circular saw and go ripping 2x12s all day, or you'll kill the pack very quickly. Makita isn't trying to screw you into buying more batteries, they're trying to make sure you don't kill your batteries.

Another note, considering how many complaints of defective packs there are: don't run these batteries down to nothing, and try not to store them fully charged. Running them into the ground is a sure way to damage the cells, and I've read estimates of up to 20%/year capacity loss for a fully-charged pack, compared to as low as 2%/year for a pack stored @ 40% charge.

And of course, like any cordless tool/battery purchase- shop your options before buying batteries separately. I got the BHP452HW kit for only $50 more than 2 batteries. That's a cheap, easy way to have a spare drill or driver and charger for around the house, or to sell to recoup the extra cost.

I'm knocking off one star because Makita doesn't do a good job of letting people know that these slim packs only work on certain tools- and not very many, either. That's been a complaint for years now, and it's still not mentioned anywhere in their literature or website- even my local Makita dealer didn't know they weren't compatible with all LXT tools. It's not like it's standard practice- Bosch's and Milwaukee's slim packs fit their entire lineup, AFAIK. - Lithium Battery - Battery Packs - Makita - Lithium-ion'

Portable Headphones - bose in ear, in ear

I've had a set of the Bose® In-Ear Headphones since spring and really like them. They have great sound and the in-ear fit works really well. They are pretty durable too. One earbud even landed in my coffee one day and survived.

They've got me hooked on the sound as well. I've got a spare pair over over-the-ear headphones at the office. When I was drying out the Bose, I pulled the other set out and was amazed at the difference in sound. It's what you would expect from Bose.

The cord is a little longer than I expected. But, it works well for both my iPhone and laptop. The rubber tips will come off some force if you are yanking them out in your pocket. I would recommend storing them in the case to prevent wear and tear.

The price is a little steep for a set of earbuds but they are well worth it. Bose® In-Ear Headphones - (44437) Black Cord

I got the bose earbuds last december, and i have loved them ever since. Absoutely great. The sound was incredible and it fit in my ears perfectly

but after about 9 months of use, the left earbud cut out. There is a problem with the wiring and connection jack. a problem that should not arise from a $100 set of headphones.

Wall Stickers - wall decals, wall stickers

These wall stickers are very cute and look just like the movie characters! My kids are thrilled to have them on their walls and I would buy again!

The only slight negative is the packaging from the manufacturer, they are wrapped up so it took a day or two to flatten them out before we could stick them on the wall without curving. RoomMates RMK1428SCS Toy Story 3 Peel & Stick Wall Decals

I bought these for my son's room as he is a Toy Story fan and they are SO easy to use! They stuck beautifully to his wall with a flat paint finish and they are easy to peel off and restick in a different position! I would HIGHLY recommend these! They are so full of detail and are so bright and colorful!

These decals were a huge hit for my son, he loves them. The stickers are nicely detailed and the characters are good size. The stickers take up quite a bit of room on his bedroom wall, they easily stick, and are movable.

I have two boys, 3 years old and 20 months, and both love these wall clings. They are easy enough for the older one to peel off the wall on his own, and they relocate so easily without losing their stick factor. They are a good size and there are plenty of them (big and small) to play with. The bigger ones have stayed on the wall where they first placed them, but the smallers ones they keep peeling off and relocating them for fun. Great purchase.

My 2-year-old is obsessed with the Toy Story movies and that is all he will watch on TV now and we watch them over and over. A few weeks ago we were at the store and he saw some Toy Story products and got so excited and started yelling "Woody and Buzz!" so I decided these wall decals would be perfect to decorate his room. I live in family housing on campus so I can't paint or do much to decorate here and I hate plain white walls. I had been unsure of what to do to decorate my son's room. These Toy Story wall decals are perfect!

The wall decals came off the sheets easily and went on the walls well with no bubbles forming, which I've had with other wall decals. Between this set and another set by another seller I had just enough to go all the way around my son's room at a height where he couldn't reach them to pull them off the walls. They are removable and don't damage the walls at all. Another thing I was happy with is that these decals are a pretty good size, not too small and not too big, which you can't really tell from the picture. I saw there are some larger Woody and Buzz decals and I considered getting those but these were perfect!

My son was so excited when he got home from daycare and saw the Toy Story decals on his walls and I didn't have any problems getting him to bed that night which is a big plus to me!

They stick great to the wall. Good variety of characters. I had to remove them a couple times once I figured out how exactly I wanted them on the wall and they still stuck perfectly! No problems with them peeling or anything. I also bought another brand of these and they didn't do quite as good. Roommates seemed to have the better quality. Great and cheap for adding to my son's Toy Story themed room! Everyone has commented on how great it is that they just stick on so smoothly and come off without any damage to the wall when you change things. Brilliant idea!

I had been interested in this product since we moved into our new apartment. I knew that we weren't able to put things on the walls but my almost 3 year old needed something to spruce up his drab room. These were perfect. They can be moved around and used over and over. We can move them around the room if he wants them changed. There were a lot of wall stickers in the package too! I will definately reccomend them! - Wall Decor - Wall Stickers - Wall Decals - A Bugs Life'

Cloth Diaper - swim diaper, cloth diaper

Bought this Bummis swim diaper along with trying the Flap Happy and iPlay brands (wrote rviews for those as well).

-Pros for the Bummis reusable diaper: Very cute styles, very easy to get on & off due to the velcro (works more like putting on a diaper versus pulling up swim diapers on a wiggling 1-year old). The pool center where my son takes swim class requires BOTH a disposable little-swimmers like diaper and a reusable or swim short over top (so much for being green). This diaper works especially well over a disposable. Also, they seem very true to size. Bought the large for my 1-year old ~23lbs and it fits him but with plenty of room to grow (and over a disposable).

-Cons: No absorbant layer or padding inside, just a mesh lining. The iPlay swim diap is much better in terms of leak-proofing. Also, since the legs and waist aren't elastic if, god forbid, there's a #2 situation I wouldn't trust this diaper to hold anything in. I won't be using this swim diap on its own in our community pool, but I will use the iPlay brand solo.

-Toss-up: The velcro sides make for easy on/off but can cause snags and collects fuzzies when put into the dryer with our pool towels.

Four stars for using over a disposable for those of us who have to. Would rate lower if worn solo. Bummis Swimmi Cloth Diapers, Turtles, Large (22-30 lbs)

We bought a couple of these for our two weeks in Maui for our 4 month old twins, 12 and 15 pounds - girl/boy. The colors/patterns were very unisex and looked super cute on both of them with their blue and hot pink rash shirts. My dad was super paranoid about the babies in the pool because the week before (they live there) someone's grandkids contaminated the pool and they had to shut down and he didn't want to be "that guy." Despite his paranoia we swam swam swam and the diapers seemed a snug but comfortable fit and I felt good that poo wouldn't escape. I will warn you that they are not water tight so urine goes right thru - fine for pool and beach not for in the condo on the couch when you are trying to get second baby dressed and sun-screened for pool. I think the only swim dipes with absorption are the disposable but even those are not the best and you have to take them off right out of the water and replace because they are swishy soaked. These you can leave on and let the child dry in the air or take off and put on lounge chair or umbrella where they dried very rapidly. Great for my little ones probably super good for older baby / toddler that pees less often - mine are still like puppies - just letting lose at every cool breeze.

This product works well. It is just as effective as the little dipper swim diapers that you can buy that are disposable. The best part is that you can use it over & over. Bear in mind what they are used for. If you arent comfortable with cleaning something up that has poo in it then maybe these arent for you. They fit well but when I ordered them I was concerned that a large may be too big. Unfortunately my son has already outgrown them. I guess it is hard to tell when you are ordering a product like this online. He is not quite 2 years old and of average size. There have been some floaters that have escaped while in the pool but no worse than any other product. Somehow its ok if my son makes #2 in the pool. Anyway I think you would be hard pressed to find anything that is completely effective at preventing escapage until you have a kid that is potty trained. As gross as it is there really aren't any alternatives.

I purchased the Large Swimmi (22-30lbs) because my 16 month old just reached the 22lbs pound range. I returned it to purchase the same in Medium (15-22lbs) because my son is built very thin and has no tush. The Medium fits well and I think it will still accommodate him for awhile. Even if it doesn't and I have to re-purchase the Large, it is still cheaper than having to buy a pack of disposable swim diapers.

This diaper was what I expected. It is very cute and comfortable for him, easy to put on/take off for me. I bought it because I was spending a fortune on disposables. My son wore this in the water and I changed him as soon as he got out because they definitely do not hold pee. Luckily he has not made a shidoobie in it yet so I haven't had to deal with that. Overall a nice product.

Love this swim diaper. We use cloth diapers normally, so did not want to use disposable swim diapers. Our daughter goes to swim class at the Y so is swimming all year round. In the previous size, I bought the only reusable swim diaper available locally but it pulled on and off like underwear. It contained the accidents fine, but my husband really didn't like trying to change her after, which could get messy. So, I ordered this one because it velcros like a diaper to make changing messy diapers easier. She has not actually stooled in this diaper since we got it, so I can't be certain how well it would work for it's intended purpose. However, it does fit well and seems comfortable for her. It is also very cute. It does not hold urine, but no swim diaper (even the disposable) does. - Swim Diaper - Cloth Diaper - Cloth Diapering'

Decorating - design, decoration

Undecorate. Provocative title. Does it mean to go minimal and spartan and dispose of all the the trappings of interior design and decorating?

On the contrary, it means infusing your home with personality, color dense and/or neutral, and mixing it up with high and low things of every age, vintage, antique, and contemporary.

The book is filled with real people who just happen to have a super real grasp for decorating. Even though the book plays down the professional decorator or designer, all of the homes have owners who are in a creative profession, sometimes as design professionals, decorators, stylists, artists of every type, and writers. But rather than eschew typical rules and regulations of creating home decor, these folks embrace the unique and beautiful.

The title includes: "The No Rules Approach To Interior Design", that kind of implies that doing what each home owner did was just throw it together without thought to what good design means. This is so not true! No rules does not mean no talent, or no educated eye editing and arranging these spaces. Each home is meticulous in it's details, even though the process unfolded in a natural, no rules, organic manner. It would be great to have anyone of these creative home owners come over and help do up your home.

Common threads unite all of these spaces. You will see collections, color, antlers, art work, books, typography as art, pattern, hide rugs, mid century modern, modern and vintage textiles, French antiques, and naturally and artfully edited spaces that look lived in and inviting. And there's a sense of fun and whimsy and wit in these rooms too.

All of this makes the book user friendly. The reader feels that this kind of undecorating is within their reach.

Add to that Christiane Lemieaux's (with Rumaan Alam) heartfelt, honest, and expert writing and you have a book to look at and to read. The photographs by Melanie Acevedo capture a true clear light that makes each page luscious.

With chapter titles like: "The Imperfectionists", "The Career Opportunists", "Decorators Without Borders", (and more), it makes you wonder how your own decor might be defined and described.

If you loved the defunct and much loved Domino, and are a fan of Lonny, love to read decor and design blogs, you will love this book. Undecorate elevates and takes their editorial viewpoint a few steps further.

If you'd like a breath of fresh air, and a finger on the pulse of how people decorate now, and will continue to do so for many years to come, get this book. Gone are the days of theme decorating like "Tuscan", "French Country", and even "Eclectic". Here is the new mix based on real life and the enjoyment that comes from living it in your home, and sharing it with all who live there and enter your door.

The book is not ageist either. Christiane includes photos of the home owners, and both younger and older alike have that certain style sizzle and pizazz.

Christiane and company traveled the country seeking out these homes, many of them found via decor and design blogs, truly the paradigm for anyone interested in decorating and design. She got to know the people whose homes she writes about, and the book is so genuine, more so than most decor books churned out.

In short, now that I have gone on so long: Buy this book. Undecorate: The No-Rules Approach to Interior Design

this book makes you feel good about your less than perfect home. It is about real homes where real people live and enjoy what makes them happy. No rules just a commonsense approach life is messy and not often picture perfect.

I'm always on the look out for inspiring interior design books and when I came across "Undecorate" I was in awe. What a fabulous collection of interiors! Not only were the photographs wonderful, this was an interesting read with such clever explanations on these brilliant interiors. I want to be a part of the "undecorate" world!

Gorgeous photographs of beautiful, unpretentious, creative homes and lovely stories about the people that live in them. A great book for anyone who adores creating (and looking at) charming homes with a heaps of style and personality and very few designer labels or hospital corners. I can't wait to purchase this book.

I sat and read this entire book in one sitting. Yes, actually read it. Which is unusual for me and a decorating book. Most times....I just browse the photos and there isn't any good descriptive copy included. Such is not the case with this book. This book shows many homes decorated by the owners. And the accompanying stories tell how these owners came to the decisions they made in their decor. Yes, this book is not about hiring a decorator but instead living with the things you love. Letting your space evolve over time. Making a statement with a collection. Yes, all rules broken in this book of decor. It encourages all to think out of the box. To create spaces as individual as the occupants themselves. Gorgeous photography. This book will be one I will go back to over and over again to see certain images and remind myself of how great it looks to mix things up and follow your own drummer.

An inspiring and impressive documentation of a rising movement in interior design...and in the design industry in general. This book delves into the pulse of what's happening in the modern day design-minded home, as opposed to documenting a decorator's work.

The images in the book feel very real but are aspirational at the same time with (as the book says) rule breaking decorating. The book is packed with examples of how living with what you love can enrich your life and interiors - such as leaving a daughters birthday decorations up as decor, wallpapering one's ceiling, and living with a Jaguar collection...

The homeowners themselves in this book are inspiring - and a candid peak into their lives and homes makes for so much more than a coffee table design book. - Design - Decoration - Interior Design - Decorating'

Everlast - boxing bag gloves, everlast

These wraps are well worth the extra money IMO. I went with the natural ones so my skin doesn't absorb any dies during my long heavy bag workouts. I just train as a hobby and for the workout, but I train hard and I can already tell that these will hold up much better then my others. "This Side Up" is printed at the front end off the wrap to ensure the velcro is right side up every time, nice! The velcro itself is very securely stitched into the wrap, much more so then others I've used and the cloth is thickly woven. Definitely "professional" grade wraps. Micro Usb Cable - android, micro usb cable

This is the second time that I am reviewing this, because somehow the company DELETED my previous negative review.

United Integral says that this is a "Blackberry" cable and even uses a picture (illegally) of a Blackberry cable, an OEM one. This cable is NOT Blackberry and doesn't work as a data and charging cable for my phone. DO NOT PURCHASE this if you want a cable that works.

United Integral told me that they are sorry for the "Listing Error". United Integral even had the audacity to ask that I reconsider my review (then they had it deleted) and I told them that I would not because I don't want other buyers to get defrauded by them. AND, they still have not changed the listing. BlackBerry USB Cable Micro USB 1.0m (Black)

I should have noticed the review another customer posted previously, but missed it. This cable is not a micro usb as advertised, it is a mini usb which is larger and NOT the new standard most phones are using. The cable does not fit the droid which requires a micro usb connection. The item description needs to be changed, it is not accurate.

yea thanks for misleading me on this one. i'm sure it's a great cable...just not for the phone i need it for. this is a mini usb, not micro. it will not fit the droid i need it for. luckily, i can put these cables to use because i always need these type of cables for cameras and stuff....but not what i ordered them for.

This is the first review I've ever written on Amazon. I have not had a bad experience until this one. I ordered 3 of these cables because I have had blackberry's in the past and the cables worked on my Evo. The earlier reviews rated this item very well and that is what convinced me to purchase these. The OEM shop sent me Micro USB cables and have not responded to any emails. Horrible customer service and now I have 3 usb cables that I can't use. BUYER BEWARE OF THE OEM SHOP!!!! It's been over a week and I still have no response.

The product wasn't a blackberry cable. It was a generic, and not even a decent one at that. It didn't work with my phones, unlike other generic micro USB cables I've purchased (at least mine was micro, and not mini which some reviewers received). All I can say is that it was cheap. Considering the dirt cheap price, it wasn't even worth my time to try to return them.

This cable is much thinner than the cable that came with my Motorola Droid. Other than looking too thin, it looked like a fine cable. This cable worked for a week, then stopped working. You get what you pay for. This cable is cheap and cheaply made. Don't buy it. - Android - Charge - Micro Usb Cable - Usb Cable'

Makeup Removers - eyes, neutrogena

Has the formula recently been changed in Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover? I have used this product for many years and loved it. Over the last couple of weeks, however, the delicate skin around my eyes has become red and peels after using this product. I have not made changes in any of my other cleansers, sunscreens, or makeup products. I can't figure out why my skin is so irritated, and I am ready to discontinue using this makeup remover. Neutrogena Cleansing Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover, 5.5 Fluid Ounce

I picked up this item in the store at a friends recommendation, and I don't want to use anything else. I used various other products and I still had a residue of makeup left over. With this product it just a wipe away, and I used q-tips to get to the the fine lash areas around my eyes.

I bought this product a while back in Walgreens, and I have been more than happy to finish it!

The first words on the bottle say "oil-free." It is definitely not what it claims because I always have an oily residue on my face after I use it. I even have to shake the bottle to mix what looks like oil and water before use. On top on that, this make up remover doesn't do a good job at removing my make up. I've used cotton balls and cotton wipes; none of them seem effective. I don't cake-on my make-up either; just mascara, eyeliner, some eye shadow, and the occasional blush. I'm always left with lingering mascara around my eye, no matter how many times I wipe. The excess oil doesn't make things better.

Overall, the Neutrogena Cleansing Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover is too oily, despite its label, and doesn't do a good job. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

This works well as an eye makeup remover and lasts a while. The only problem is that after shaking the solution and using it, it tends to leave an oily residue behind on the skin that has to be wiped off with a wet cloth.

This stuff definitely works! It gets even the toughest eye makeup off without any struggle. It DOES leave a little bit of residue, but it doesn't bother me. I use this BEFORE I use cleanser, so I end up washing the residue away with the cleanser. Love this product and will continue to purchase it.

This product says that it's oil-free, but it feels very oily and leaves an oily residue on your eyelids that you can't wash off with just water. It feels weird and it does separate, as another reviewer mentioned.

It does remove makeup well, but the the oily residue it leaves all around the eyes is more than unpleasant (and difficult to get rid off).

I have used this product for years and I am very happy with it. It easily removes waterproof mascara and really gets it all. I wouldn't say it's oily, I would say it leaves a bit of conditioning behind. Couldn't we all use a little of that? I rinse with water after I use it, if that would be helpful for anyone to know.

I love many Neutrogena products, like their sunscreens and their combo peel/scrub. They do what they advertise. This product, on the other hand, was a huge disappointment. Take everything it says on the label and disregard. Effective? No. Doesn't remove makeup well. Gentle? Maybe, but who cares since it doesn't work? No oily residue? Whatever is in there (can't be oil, of course) separates in the bottle and per the directions has to be shaken before use. It's probably the most oily feeling remover I've ever used.

Save your money and buy the Loreal product in the blue bottle that this product is trying to compete with. Or get the Target version, which is less expensive and smells like rose. - Neutrogena - Eyes - Makeup Removers'

Samsung - samsung, 240hz

These glasses work great for me. I use them with the Samsung PN59D6500 3D plasma and the picture quality is breathtaking. I had gotten two pairs of these with the Shrek/Megamind starter package, bought another pair from BB for $150, and just picked up two more pairs for just under $50 each on Amazon. I liked them at $150, but loooove them at less than $50.

I actually prefer that these are not rechargeable, because for a family it's a pain in the butt to rotate 4 or 5 pairs through charging, figure out which ones need charging, etc. Its a whole lot easier just to keep some spare batteries around. Besides, these use Bluethooth, and as such get great battery life. I have used two pairs of these glasses for over 48 hours worth of 3D viewing and the batteries are still running strong.

The lenses also seem to clean easily without scratching. Samsung SSG-3100GB 3D Active Glasses - Black (Only Compatible with 2011 3D TVs)

These are the 2011 model 3D glasses that ship with the Shrek/Megamind 3D starter kit, which in my case was included as a free promotional item with my 59" D8000 television.

In actual use, they're great. A button cell battery installs into one of the "eyecup" pieces; the on/off switch is conveniently located on the right top corner of the glasses in an easy to find / easy to use location. Pairing occurs automatically and the television recognizes when the glasses are on and synced. I have not had any problems with crosstalk or sync issues and, being Bluetooth and NOT relying on line of sight IR reception like last year's glasses, I have no problems when I look away from the screen.

There are a couple of negatives.

- These glasses are not rechargeable. I haven't run out a battery yet as I don't have enough 3D content to blow through, but I imagine I'll need to stock up on button cells to avoid inopportune interruptions.

- These glasses sit a tiny bit high on my large nose. This forces me to slightly lower my head and look at the television dead-on, to avoid the resulting "uncovered area" between the bottom of the lenses and my cheeks. This isn't *necessarily* uncomfortable or unnatural, but it does force me into a more upright posture and doesn't facilitate viewing from a reclined position (eyes lowered). This is a common problem I have with sunglasses, too, and probably isn't an issue for those of you with more "normal" apportioned schnozzes. (I mounted my TV "mid height" on the wall -- not at "above the fireplace" height which might eliminate this problem, and not at "sits on a TV stand height" which might exacerbate the issue).

- The wide lenses (my theory) result in reflection from any surface or object directly behind my seated position. I had a box stacked behind the couch with some lettering on it, and the lettering shows up in the periphery of my lens. Two solutions: dark back wall either with lighting or with paint, or longer eyecups /sideguards along the sides of the glasses (yeah, I'm talking about cardboard or construction paper!!) to eliminate the entrance of this light.

Of my criticisms, #1 is solved by Samsung's rechargeable glasses, but #2 & #3 would appear to be common problems based on appearance.

These, being the least expensive glasses of the Samsung lineup, are probably a good bet to have on hand in the event friends are coming over to watch a 3D movie, if you're so inclined.

These glasses are really great! These are for the 2011 and up model Samsung TV's. They are very comfortable and will even fit right over your glasses. My 4 year old daughter even wears them without a complaint. So they do really fit everyone. They are lightweight and the battery life is great. Generally I get about 70 hours out of a pair. I buy a 10 pack of replaceable batteries for a couple dollars and they will last me a year or more.

Its nice that they have upgraded these to bluetooth. Now you can go anywhere within a decent range and they will still work. They work right out of the box. All you have to do is load up a battery. They are only compatible with the current Samsung TV's. Although every manufacturer makes their own glasses and generally none are compatible with each other. I believe the active shutter glasses are much better for "3D" than the passive technology. But that seems to be a choice among manufacturers. Sure the passive glasses are cheaper but personally I don't think the 3D effect is as awesome. However the only experience I have had with passive glasses is watching the TV's at my local best buy so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I am very happy with these glasses and they make 3D movies look wonderful! Samsung has dropped the price to about $50 now so they are very affordable. I have 3 pairs of these glasses and 2 of the rechargeable's and these are much more comfortable on my head. They are lighter and balanced better. They are also quite a bit cheaper than the rechargeables (plus the rechargeables don't fold up).

One pair I received from Amazon was cracked out of the box but Amazon was quick to make it right. Don't hesitate to get these glasses! They are great! - Samsung - 240hz'

Planer Knives

Although I have sufficient experience with Freud products to be comfortable with the quality I could expect, one other review gave me some concern as to wether these blades would fit my Grizzly machine. Well put that concern aside because they fit just like the original equipment. I am a big time Freud fan so anytime I can get a product of their quality for less than the OEM accessories I consider that a real bargain.

Ed Freud C045 15-Inch x 1-Inch x 1/8-Inch Planer Knives - 3-Piece Set

I have a Grizzly 15" planer and after planing a lot of hickory I found it was time for a spare set of blades while I got the originals sharpened. I checked with Grizzly and Amazon. Amazon's Freud blades were less money than Grizzly's. I thought I'd take a chance since I have purchased Freud saw blades and router bits and have been well pleased. The only problem that occurred was when I went to replace the blades I noticed they were a little thicker than the originals. I had to find a thinner wrench that would fit on the nuts so I could tighten the blades in the holder. After installing the blades I ran several hundred board feet of hickory through the planer. The blades were as good or better than the originals and time will tell whether they will have the same longevity. With what I have seen of their operation I would recommend them.

I just replaced the blades on my Delta 15" Planer with the Freud Planer Knives. To say the least, these are some great blades. I used only Freud blades on all my saws and they can't be beat! The price of these blade will make me come back.

these knives dulled after only taking 1/16 off of 100 or less bf of hard maple. delta knives were doing 350 to 450 bf of hard maple. I will have them sharpened and hope for improvement but I doubt it.'

Cell Phone Car Charger

First things first: IF (and that's IF) you get the genuine OEM Motorola charger listed here, the SPN5400/P513/89143N, it works great with modern smart phones like the Motorola Droid, The Incredible, The Google Nexus One, etc. Basically, if your phone has a micro USB connector (and almost all of the newer generation smart phones do), then this is the charger for you.

That said: Not every seller is selling the right item. There are lots of reports of people getting the wrong charger (I've had this happen myself). Your best bet: Amazon, who not only IS selling the correct charger, but has the best price, when you factor in shipping, provided you qualify for free shipping from Amazon (either with Prime, or if your order is > $25).

The Amazon-as-seller listing for this charger can be found here, at least at the time of this review. Search through the sellers to find Amazon. Their price, if you get free shipping from Amazon, is the cheapest, or close to it. And you are guaranteed of getting the correct item, brand new, retail.

OK, that said, here's the rest of my review:

There are so many sketchy sellers selling phone chargers out there, that it can be a bit scary. The problem is that if the charger is poorly made, the output of the charger can be out of spec and can, in some cases, fry the phone you connect to it.

For that reason, when it comes to phone chargers, you should stick to name brands. (They are all made in China, but the name brand ones are usually subject to stricter QA).

When I found this charger on Amazon, SOLD BY AMAZON, I jumped on it. It's a MICRO USB car charger, made for Motorola and sold under the Motorola name, in retail packaging. The rated output is 4.75-5.25V and 950mA.

This charger should work fine with most any phone that uses the MICRO USB connector. The key number to pay attention to is the second one, the rated amperage. This is the MAXIMUM amount of current that the phone can request from the charger. A typical USB port on a PC provides as little as 100mA, and few provide more than 500mA. So this charger should charge your phone faster than when it's connected to a PC. A few phones out now can use up to 1000mA. But that just means they CAN use that amount. If 950mA is provided, they'll still charge, just a bit more slowly.

Note that the amperage (second number) merely tells you how much the charger CAN supply, if requested. The phone itself is responsible for asking for the current. That is to say, if this charger can provide 950mA, but your phone can only use 300mA--no problem. Your phone asks for 300mA and the charger provides all of what is requested. If, on the other hand, your phone can use 1000mA, this charger will provide all it can, which is 950mA--a wee bit less than the max asked for. That's also not a problem; it just means your phone will charge a little bit (not much in this case) more slowly. The rated voltage for this charger is presented in a range of 4.75-5.25V. The "ideal" voltage for a USB charger of any type if 5V. And most chargers for home use are rated right at 5V. But car chargers work in a noisier environment and thus you have the range. This is where a cheapo charger can really do damage, as some of them are poorly regulated and can provide voltages that are WAY out of spec. Again, when you can get a name brand charger from a seller you can trust (Amazon) for such a reasonable price, it's very foolish to consider the cheapo no-names.

This is an excellent quality name brand travel micro USB charger at a price that beats the no-name junk from third party sellers. What's not to like?

BE SURE TO ORDER IT FROM AMAZON AND NOT ONE OF THE THIRD PARTY SELLERS, as some of those have been known to make mistakes with respect to what they ship relative to the listing. I can confirm that Amazon is shipping the P513 /89143N /SPN5400 charger, as pictured.

One last note: This charger is alternatively sold as the P513, the 89143N OR the SPN5400. These numbers all refer to the same charger. A different product number is assigned depending on the channel through which the charger has been sold. But they are all the same. Motorola Vehicle Power Adapter micro-USB Rapid Rate Charger'

Photography - nikon dslr, digital slr

This is very simple, if you are a Nikon shooter looking for a new camera then stop reading and buy this camera. It's that good.

Handling

This camera is brilliant to hold and use. Nikon has done it again and has made the user interface more usable and streamlined. What to change flash modes. Press the flash pop-up button and rotate the control wheel. Sweet. Want to change create and use a User defined mode? There are two. Set your mode up. Go to the menu and save it. To use it rotate the shooting mode dial to U1 or U2. Presto you are there. In the D300 and D700 you to have to setup things in the menu and switch in the menu. Also, there were 2 sets of things you could change and they were not all inclusive. It was all horribly confusing and I never used it. Speaking of shooting modes. There is now one position on the shooting mode dial for scene mode shooting. You change through the different scene modes with the control wheel and the type scene shows up on the back screen. Sweet. I can go on and on but needless to say Nikon have really improved their interface. One caveat, I don't think it is quite up to par with the GH1 to change exposure compensation (IMO the most important control) but still a huge step in the correct direction in handling. I like the handling of the D7000 better than either the D700/300.

Low Light Shooting

The D300 wasn't that great for Hi ISO. It shoots clean at 400 ISO and usable up to 1600. (The D90 and D300s were better) The D700 was fantastic. Clean at 1600 ISO and usable up to 6400. It opened up new worlds. The D7000 is close to the equal of the D700. Enough said. Just to give you an example. The bouquet toss at a reception is often done in poor light. By using 1600 instead of 400 you get the equivalent of 4 times more light. At ISO400 you flash may need to use 1/4 power and you can get 1 maybe 2 shots of the toss and catch before the flash needs to recharge. At ISO1600 your flash would only need to use 1/16th power and now you can get 5-6 shots. This is huge.

Picture Quality

Like all modern DSLRs it takes great pictures. I don't pixel peep so I can't really say that I notice a difference between the pictures from the D7000 and any of my 12mp cameras. It makes really nice pictures and that is all I care about.

Useful Photography Features (Not Marketing Features)

--100% view finder! Big bright with 100% coverage. No more guessing of your framing. (It is not as bright as the D700. However, it is 100% vice 95%)

--2 SD slots - When your getting paid to shoot a wedding or any gig, my card broke is not an excuse. Very useful feature. For the home user put two smaller cards rather than one big card and save some money.

--Smaller and lighter than D300, D700, D3s, D3x- When you stand on your feet for 9 hours shooting the wedding and reception, you start to feel every ounce you are carrying. Often you will be carrying two bodies with a fast tele zoom and fast wide zoom. That starts to get heavy. Light weight here we come.

--2016-Segment RGB Meter- for spot on exposure and white balance--No one touches Nikon on this and this one is fantastic.

--1/8000th -- Very useful for shooting into the sun wide open with a bright lens

--1/250 -- Could be better (1/500th for D40) but could be much worse. Auto FP helps.

--Magnesium body and better sealing -- Shoot in dusty environments without messing up the inside your camera.

--Uses the ML-L3 infra red remote -- Small and cheap. IR sensor on the front and back of the camera.

--Autofocus focus motor for non-AF-S lenses

Marketing Features that will sometimes be Useful

--16Mp -- Nikon was obviously getting creamed in the marketing wars on this. This is going to lead to bigger files requiring larger hard drives and faster computers. Occasionally it will be useful if you can't frame as close as you would like and you need to crop or you need to print big. Alien Skin Blow Up 2, Image Resizing Plug-in Software for Photoshop, Macintosh & Windows and Genuine Fractals 6 Professional Edition 1-user Full are two very nice programs that can increase the size of your photos for printing large. 16 MP is nice by not necessary.

--39 Point Auto Focus -- To me in some ways this is better than the 51 point of the D300 and D700 as that gets too unwieldy. However, you really don't even need 39. However, still useful on occasion.

--6 frames per second-- I very rarely ever put my camera in 3 frames per second. When I do so it fills the card quickly. If you are shooting the big game then 6 is nice. Or it is nice for some cool special effects shots. Other than that you won't really find yourself using it that much.

Video

The other thing I am not really going to dwell on is the video capabilities. In my opinion all the various video options are mostly marketing hype really targeted at a niche market. Shallow depth of field video is difficult and time consuming to shoot and edit properly. The average family home user has neither the time nor inclination to do this. With that said, it is nice to only have to carry one device to take still pictures and video. So I do enjoy that feature, however 1080 is not really necessary. In fact with up converting DVD players standard def is still very usable and takes up far less space. Suffice it to say that the video capabilities are very good and should do anything a home user would need it to do. Can be used for pro Videos as demonstrated by Chase Jarvis.

Intangibles

This is a very nice camera and it feels very solid in your hands. It feels far more substantial than the D40/D90 without feeling like a brick the way the D300/D700 do. I am sure the D300 has more marketing features than the D7000 but I would have to research them to figure out what they are. As for the lens, I am not really that hot on this lens. It will do fine but the Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S ED VR II Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon DX-Format Digital SLR Cameras is far more useful. Also, you can buy the Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens and Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR [Vibration Reduction] Zoom Nikkor Lens for about the same price as the difference between this and the body only.

Conclusion

In the end it all comes down to what is important to you. Smaller weight and size is becoming much more important to me and this camera is a very good trade off of features for size and weight. Anything that is missing I don't even use so I am not sure what it may be. My D700 was recently stolen and while I miss it, the D7000 is a worthy replacement for it. I opted to get the D7000 and Panasonic GH2 and save the $300 difference for a lens.

Pros

--100% view finder!

--6 fps (7D is 8. However, I think this number is overhyped in most cases. Even shooting at 3 FPS will fill up you card with photos that look remarkably similar) 8+ is needed for professionals shooting professional sports. Not enthusiast shooting High School etc.

--16mp sensor (a marketing increase but still nice to allow some room for cropping)

--14 bit photos

--39 point auto focus sensors (19 cross point) this is a bit of a marketing thing but it is still nice and it does not matter about the 51 on D300s and above. Still very nice.

--2016 scene meter - compares against data base for WB setting and color settings

--Excellent battery life

--MD-11 Optional Battery Grip

--2 SD card slots for back up redundancy or double the card space! Outstanding

--Magnesium used to make camera stronger

Cons

--16mp senor (takes up more storage on your hard drive) (12mp JPG 3mb 12 mp RAW = 12 mb 16mp JPEG = 5 mb 16 mp RAW = 16 mb. This is for 12 bit. 14 bit would require more)

--Camera heavier than it used to be

--No swivel screen - after using the GH1 extensively you really miss this when shooting at weird angles. You especially miss it for macro photography.

--No full time live view - Ditto from above. Live view is what you see is what you get. Forgot to change white balance-- you will see that when people are yellow, blue or green. Have it set in manual and blowing everything out-- you'll see that as a white screen.

Decision Matrix

Nikon

For the Nikon shooter this is a no brainer. If you are in the market for a camera, then skip the D300s. The D700 is getting long in the tooth and many people are buying the D7000 while waiting for D800. If you already own a D700 then this camera is a very good complement to it. Use the money you saved over the more expensive camera to buy a nice lens.

Here is a breakdown vs other Nikon DSLRs

D3100-- Two completely different classes with the D7000 being worth the difference in many. However at the end of the day they will both make nice pictures. Also, the lenses are more important than the camera. You can get the D3100 and 18-200mm for the same price. Something to think about.

D5000-- Good sensor and nice camera. D3100 comments also apply here.

D90--Tough choice. The best DX sensor of its generation and still better than most. If you can't quite stretch to the D7000, this is a very tempting proposition.

D300S-- Irrelevant. The D7000 has a much better sensor, is smaller, lighter, cheaper, and better metering.

Nikon D700-- Would be a good complement to the D7000. Use D7000 when you need the 1.5x crop on the long end and a deeper depth of field due to the smaller chip (about 1 stop deeper) and D700 for when you want to isolate a subject with a shallow depth of field or you want to use the full width of a wide angle such as the 14-24mm. If you don't need the shallower depth of field of a FX sensor and you have the lenses to cover the 1.5x crop then the D7000 should suit just fine. D3s and D3x -- Different leagues altogether. However, the D7000 is 90% of the camera for 1/4 to 1/6th the money.

Canon

The 7D is an outstanding camera and while I think the D7000 is a better camera (better sensor, 2 SD card slots, 2016 RGB metering, Price) it is not that much better to warrant switching if you are already invested in lenses.

Sony

The Sony SLT-A55 is a great camera but not in the league of the D7000. However it is $350 less and does have so unique properties. It is rumored to have the same sensor as the D7000 but Nikon always does their magic and makes it better (D3x vs A900). The translucent mirror allows for fast shooting but loses 1/3 a stop of light. Still a very nice camera.

Non-DSLR Owner or DSLR owner with just the Kit Lens

When you are buying a DSLR, you are really buying into the lens system. So factor that into you decision making matrix. For that reason, if you have not spent a fortune on lenses yet then I recommend the m4/3 as in my opinion that is the future. The sensor of the top m4/3(GH2) is every bit as good if not better than the current crop of DX sensors and almost as good as the D7000. It is getting to the point, the sensor doesn't matter as much. At this point handling, size and weight start to become more important.

With this in mind I would recommend the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 16.05 MP Live MOS Interchangeable Lens Camera with 3-inch Free-Angle Touch Screen LCD and 14-42mm Hybrid Lens (Black) to anyone not invested in a lens system. It is smaller, lighter, more capable on the video side and in many ways better on the stills side. It needs a faster flash sync speed, faster shutter speed and the construction is not up to Nikon or Canon standards (In all fairness this cuts down on weight and I have not had a failure with my GH1.) It is probably not quite as good at the high ISO. On the positive side it has a multi-aspect sensor as it is actually an 18mp sensor (16:9, 2:3, and 4:3 will all be 16mp not crops of one aspect ratio) It sells for $899 body only, $999 with the 14-42mm and $1499 with the fantastic 14-140mm 10x zoom. The lack of a mirror flipping up is a benefit in all cases. Also, you can use just about any lens ever made on this camera. Nikon, Leica, Canon, Pentax, C Lenses. You lose auto focus on any auto focus lenses and there is no accurate way to adjust your aperture on G series lenses. While the GH1 sensor was by far the best M4/3 sensor and equaled most DX sensors of its generation, it did not quite stand up to the D90 sensor. I expect the D7000 to have a higher Dynamic Range and be an overall better sensor. However, that difference will not be noticeable to the lay users. What you get is a noticeably smaller and lighter camera that out handles any DSLR on the market and has the best video capabilities. In my opinion the GH2 will be the best all-around camera of its generation. The GH1 is the camera I reach for 90% of the time when I shoot for pleasure. When Panasonic puts out a full Pro line of lenses, I will use it more in the Pro situations. I am sure the GH2 will be my new go to camera.
