Usb Hard Drive - 250 gb, usb hard drive

UPDATES IN THE LAST PARA

I have clarified a few things that other reviews had issues with and gave it a low rating.

For Starters: Since I use Both Mac & PC, I can 1000% say that it works on both these operating systems.

Some customers had issues with the drive going into sleep mode after 10 mins or so. Well, the copying process does not stop, just because the drive has gone into SLEEP mode.

You can take this SLEEP feature off by:

Process 1: Downloading a Free Seagate Manager program available on the Seagate website.

(I did not do this, I used process 2, described next)

OR

Process 2: Formatting the drive and remove the pre-installed Seagate software. Then the drive will NOT go to SLEEP Mode.

How to Format a Drive in Windows:

Plug the Drive --> Go to My Computer --> Right click on the Seagate icon--> Click "Format"

How to Format a Drive in Mac 10.4 or earlier:

Open Macintosh HD --> Click Applications --> Click Utilities --> Open "Disk Utility" --> Select the Seagate disk listed on the Left Side --> Click "Erase" tab --> Choose Volume Format to "MS-DOS" (I chose this so that I can use it on Windows & Mac).

(For the newer MAC 10.6.1 or later, I guess Format is : "Mac OS Extended (journaled)", as rightly pointed out to me by a learned customer IB...Thanks dude!)

Design: Compact & Sleek. Little bigger than the iPhone, but lighter than the iPhone (8GB)

Connection: NO A/C Power outlet needed. Only single USB port is needed, everything provided in the box. So you just take it out and plug it and use it.

Compatibility: Both PC & Mac. Although on the box it says "FOR PC", it was detected by my MAC and will work with both.

Size: Though it says 500GB, we get 465.35GB. And this is the case with most hard drives.

Speed: Forget about the specifics - it is FAST!!

Well worth your money, right!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many customers have asking me why the format process did not work for their Mac?
The reason is, I have a Mac version 10.4.1 and I clarified that in the review.I guess there are a few changes for 10.6.1 and I added that too. If your MAC OS does not fit the description, the best way to start is by finding out OS version of your MAC & then search online on how to format it OR take it to an apple store.
Basically, the STEPS on how to format remain the SAME. But you might find some different Volumes Format based on your OS version. Volume Format will change as new Operating Systems (OS) keep sprouting.
When I bought this drive, there was not a single review which spoke about MAC Compatibility, let alone the other issues. But I took the risk and bought it for $100 or so.
Also, if you compare other reviews vs. mine. My review does not speak about how many songs I have on my drive, who gifted me this, how my life has changed with the new drive, how my office folks like it, how it fits in my pocket although the it is a trouser from my high school.
No offense, they are good individually. What I mean is....one review answer about plug n play....another spoke about light weight (by how much they didnt say)...another complained SLEEP issue...But none answered MAC compatibility, Format, Weight etc
My review has even answered everything that can happen with this drive. (Except that "What will happen if it breaks down" :P ) Seagate Expansion 250 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive ST902504EXA101-RK
---update at end---
I purchased this drive a few weeks ago and have been very pleased with it. The only junk it was the warranty registration program. Run it then delete it. Disk comes pre-formated for NTFS. I went ahead and did a quick format to get rid of the existing folders on it. The drive goes into standby mode after 5 minutes bye default. This is quickly remedied and set to your liking with free Seagate Manager program available on Seagates website. Also this program give you the ability to do backups, and computer syncs.
Pros -
Quiet drive
very fast
small and sleek
no power supply needed
only requires use of one usb port
Simple/Custom Backups with Seagate Manager
Sync Option with Seagate manager
Cons-
Goes into standby in 5 minutes by default. Easily changeable with Seagate Manager
Case Logic Compact Portable Hard Drive Case listed as an option to purchase with this is TOO SMALL for this drive. This is an issue with Amazon not the drive itself.
Overall I am very please with this drive I have used it on multiple laptops and pcs without issue. I would suggest this over the new WD essential drives that come pre-installed with a bunch of crapware.
------UPDATE--------- 12/17/2010
First Google seagate freeagent download select the Seagate link then select Free Agent GO link. File name is FreeAgentCN.ZIP
I have have used this drive for the last year still performs as well today as it did a year ago. This is still a great buy.
I bought this drive for three reasons:
1. Large capacity in a small form factor,
2. The ability to power/access it from a single USB port,
3. It was on sale at Amazon for under $70.
I started using it on my laptop when it arrived yesterday and was impressed: small, and it worked well with the short standard mini-USB cable. Then last night I plugged it in to my desktop and went to transfer over my 400 GB movie directory. It kept failing after about 10 seconds, at which time Windows 7 would report that I had just attached it. My first thought was it was due to the "sleep" utility, so I downloaded and installed the Free Agent tool from Seagate and set the timeout to Never. Didn't make any difference. I then used the test tool in the utility software and the it reported a drive failure at about 8%, and said I should contact Seagate for an RMA. All my other small external drives (except for an ancient 30 GB) need a splitter USB cable: one end connects to the drive and the two other ends connect to the PC, using the extra USB port for power. As I had nothing to loose, I gave one of those cables a try - it works fine. So, it appears that the drive needs more power than my PC can provide on a single USB cable.
I'm tempted to send it back, but I'm off on vacation tomorrow and it is a perfect drive for that. I may contact Seagate when I get back - maybe my drive is bad?
- - - - Update - - -
It worked perfectly on my trip, and it was nice to have the space. I've now tried this drive on four PCs - my desktop, my father's desktop, and two laptops. It works fine with the single cable on all but my desktop. This is strange, as I've tried the on-board USB ports and the ports on two add-in cards (one as USB-2 with four ports, and the other a USB-3 with two ports) and the drive will only work if I use a USB splitter cable. So, I have to say that the experience I reported in this review is unusual, and I can understand why others report it works fine with the single cable. - Seagate - 250 Gb - Portable Hard Drive - Usb Hard Drive'
High Definition - 1080p, internet tv
I had the c8000 55" LED for over 3 weeks and loved the bright and clear picture, but it was hard to get the settings right for normal viewing, the viewing angle was atrocious vs. even LCD screens, and parts of the screen in dark scenes still have some clouding. I sent the LED back and purchased the c8000 58" plasma. I'm very happy with it so far, especially after tweaking the settings. Now, I have all the pop of the LED but with consistent colors, better blacks and unlimited viewing angle. The details. . . .
Pros
Great uniform picture - great price the $ vs. LED. Easy to self-calibrate vs. the LED Samsung.
Remote is very nice compared to the bluray remote (same as the c8000 LED remote), but I'm using a Harmony 900 for all my components so it isn't used.
You can turn off the motion judder canceller and ditch the soap opera effect when watching movies. Cinema Smooth makes high-end movies look great.
Bright screen compared to plasmas I've had.
Real 3D content (Monsters v. Aliens) looks great (even with a 1.3 highspeed HDMI cable -- however, 2D to 3D conversion of regular programs gives only nice depth - not pop out 3d.
Very thin TV - fairly lightweight for a plasma - nice stand (stainless) and bezel (dark gray), but not as cool in my opinion as the LED version which has a stainless bezel.
Netflix app works through both through the TV and the bluray and surprisingly has good pic quality - not bluray like, but close to DVD quality with no glitches (assuming you have a fast internet connection).
Much less screen glare than the c8000 LED. This TV does not have a matte screen like many other LCD HDTVs, but Real Black Filter kills the glare much better than the c7000 plasma I saw at BB. Note that the c8000 LED has an incredibly shiny screen, making it difficult to watch in a bright room.
Like all plasmas, the screen looks the same despite your seating position in the room. The c8000 LED has a good picture when straight on - but move a few feel off center and the picture would fade substantially. No such problems here.
Cons
TV isn't wifi - need a $80 adapter or have to hardwire it - TV firmware didn't update through the adapter - had to update on Samsung site with USB.
Overall a top notch TV that is larger than the LED, has a better and more uniform picture, lower glare, better off angle viewing and is cheaper. What is not to like? Here are my settings after having the TV a month. If you have a bright room or if you like the "pop" of the LED, these settings will blow you away. If you have a dark basement or watch only at night, dial the CellLight back to 10 or so and maybe put the color on normal vs. cool and you'll be set:
CAL-DAY Mode, Cell Light 20, Brightness 50, Color 50, tint 50/50, Sharpness 40, cool, native, MJC off, Filmmode 1, black (darker), dynamic contrast (med), gamma 2, other settings on auto. Cinema Smooth to "on" but it only works on bluray 24p input. Samsung PN58C8000 58-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV (Black)
The first 5 weeks with this TV were fantastic, very similar experience to all of the positive reviews - we were more than happy with our purchase. That ended after 5 weeks, we had turned the TV on, went into the kitchen to make lunch, came back to a black screen. When we looked closely, we saw a spider like crack underneath the glass and the TV would not turn back on. The TV had been sitting on its TV stand since amazon had delivered it without being touched or moved. We are currently working with the Samsung warranty to get this problem fixed but I just heard back that they say it is "physical damage" and not covered under warranty. After some research, I found a forum on c-net dedicated to this issue - hundreds of angry consumers with the same exact experience we had - all flat panel samsung tvs that mysteriously cracked under the glass without anyone touching the unit. In most cases it took them weeks/months of complaining and filing to get resolution from Samsung - usually with first a rejection under warranty. It is just not worth the trouble. I am hoping Samsung comes through to fix the issue, but it is not looking good. At this point, I'd recommend avoiding Samsung all together (believe me, I did not think that a couple of months ago - I thought they were top of the line which is why we were willing to spend so much on the tv) - the complaints I found were on Samsung brand tv's specifically. They obviously have a defect issue with the number of complaints I have seen. This is my first ever negative review and I have avoided posting anything until I gave Samsung a chance to fix the issue and after hearing that we incurred the "physical damage" and that is not covered, I have to say something and post this review - it is just not right what they are doing. I plan on filing with the BBB and joining all the consumers on the forum who have already filed with the NJ Attorney General's office.
An amazing plasma TV! Wanted to upgrade from a bulky and heavy projection TV upstairs to new flat screen TV to make a media room in finished basement. Wanted latest 3D technology that wouldn't become obsolete so soon. Didn't go to local stores to view demonstration of TVs since don't know how well they are set up. Instead relied on Internet reviews posted on various models by owner of new TVs. Samsung PN58C8000 plasma recived lots of good reviews including comments on how picture didn't change with viewing angle or across screen, 600 Hz sub-field motion, deep blacks and only 1.5" thick.
This was most expensive purchase we've made thru Internet & it turned out fine! Order was completed on a Tuesday morning, set was shipped Tuesday afternoon and arrived at our Ohio home that Friday morning in fine condition. Set was placed on VAS TV stand we got from local Walmart that allowed 70 degrees rotation left or right so it could be viewed at kitchen or media room. Stand that came with TV provided 20 degrees left or right rotation. Used HDMI 1.4 cables to connect Samsung 3D Blu-ray disc player BD-C6900 and cable box. Set had no noticeable buzzing with or without ferrite cores on power cord which smooth out power voltage spikes. Set was manufactured in June 2010 so buzzing reported by some earlier reviews must have since been fixed by Samsung. We have not yet used Internet to upgrade TV firmware.
2D
After using and testing this plasma PN58C8000 TV for over two & a half weeks, it is capable of providinig an essentially perfect picture at any angle and across screen from edge to edge. It is amazing how picture has much better detail, bolder colors, brighter screen and very sharply outlined text than older 1080i projection TV.
Many adjustments can be made to picture in Mode, Advanced Settings and Options menus. Most can be left either at factory settings, Auto or changed once for viewer preference. Mode provides six pre-set picture type configurations of cell light, contrast, brightness, sharpness, color and tint(G/R) plus BD Wise configuration for Blu-ray discs playing on Samsung 3D Blu-ray player. These allow picture settings to be selected for one's preference, program source & time of day. Write down factory settings for each picture type before making any changes to them. TV remote is a nice contemporary design that allows quick access to picture Mode using Tools or Menu buttons.
Samsung 3D Blu-ray disc player has inter-connectivity features of BD Wise and Anynet+ of this TV that automatically sets optimum resolution and other linked operations thru HCMI 1.4 cable. It is one-half the size of older Blu-ray players, loads discs in one-third the time and has neat contemporary touch controls with blue see-thru disc window and logo. Has built-in wireless LAN which we haven't set up yet. Provides great picture for Blu-ray and DVD Movies & is frequently bundled with Samsung 3D TVs.
There are two test patterns for settings on shades or colors in Menu- Picture- Advanced Setting- Expert Patterns. But much more comprehensive HD set-up & tests are on Blu-ray disc, DVE HD Basics, available from Amazon.com. It explains how to set-up TV HD picture & Audio for optimum capabilities. HD video calibration patterns are provided for brightness, contrast, color, sharpness, resolution & geometry plus 1080p advanced video test patterns & demonstration videos. For Cal-Day picture mode, the TV was run thru video calibration & basic set-up patterns. This plasma TV passed every test pattern & could be set-up for exact reproduction of the incoming video.
Setting for Cal-Day mode provided by another reviewer of this TV at Amazon.com works good and only slight changes were made for viewer preference. My settings for perfect picture reproduction in semi-dark basement are: Cell Light 10, Contrast 90, Brightness 50, Sharpness 0, Color 50, Tint 50/50. Advanced Settings- Black Tone Dark, Dynamic Contrast Low, Gamma +1, others Off or Auto. Picture Options- Color Tone Normal, Film Mode Auto 1 or Cinema Smooth (only Blu-ray 24 Hz), rest normal, Auto or Off (Motion Judder Canceller Off). Cell Light can be increased to 15 or 20 if room is bright or just want very bright picture. Note that Sharpness adds artificial edge whitness not in original video & should be set to 0 for best picture fidelity. For personal preferences may want to increase Sharpness to 20- 30 or change other settings such as Black Tone, Dynamic Contrast, Gamma, Color Tone and MJC. Any of Picture Mode Setings can be changed for viewer preference.
3D
Only true 3D content available at this time was 3D movies Monsters vs Aliens and Cloudy With Chance Of Meatballs released at end of June. Viewing Monsters vs Aliens was amazing with great picture depth & occasional pop-out-of-screen events. Much, much better than old eye fatiguing red/blue 3D glasses. Shutter battery operated glasses that came with Starter Kit are very light weight and comfortable. They can fit over regular glasses & operate way off-center & up to 20 ft from IR emitter on TV's lower left corner. One neighbor viewing 3D movie on this TV said it was better looking than 3D shown at movie theaters. Samsung 3D Blu-ray disc player interacts with 3D TV so the 3D movie is automatically set for 3D picture.
It is very important to initially set 3D View Point to -1, factory settings of 0 or plus 1 resulted in ghosting & double background images for 3D Monsters vs Aliens movie. Access thru TV Menu- Picture- Enter- 3D- View Point. Once familiar with TV settings one can always go back to View Point & make adjustments to see what happens. For personal preference, Picture Options- Motion Judder Canceller can be set to Standard or Smooth. Picture Modes available for 3D movies are Standard, Movie & BD Wise.
2D to 3D
With only three clicks on remote, any incoming video from cable or Blu-ray disc player can be converted to a 3D picture. Hit 3D button, Enter & then on left double single person icon. Be sure to set focus/depth of the 3D image in Depth to 8 or 9 to give better 3D effect rather than factory setting of 4 or 5. Access thru TV Menu- Picture- Enter- 3D- Depth. 3D effect is not as deep as 3D movies & doesn't have pop-out-of-screen effects. But it gives a more realistic picture to any movie or cable program including some commercials. Like watching out of a window with background off in distance.
HD programs such as entertainment & sports benefit much from conversion to 3D. Blu-ray and even DVD movies take on a nice 3D effect- particularily with foreground/deep background scenes. Avatar 2D Blu-ray movie converted to 3D was pretty awesome, especially the flying scenes. Other movies meant for 3D, such as Journey to Center of Earth, have many scenes of foreground/deep background that have good 3D effects. Animated movies like Up, Cars, etc., really benefit from 3D conversion providing more immersion & enjoyment. Flying movies like 2012, Pearl Harbor, Amelia, etc. achieve great depth in the flying scenes. The series Over America, Over California, etc., and Wing Flight (available from Amazon.com) are really awesome when flying over cities, mountains and alongside the birds.
This TV was worth it just for the amazing 2D to 3D conversion of programs and movies since true 3D movies & cable programs are so few right now. It is entertaining just to review past viewed movies to see how more realistic the picture is.
Audio
As expected, the built-in small two speakers audio is poor, typical of flat screen TVs. It is mandatory that at least a 5.1 receiver/speaker set-up be used to get nearly the theater experience. Doesn't have to be very expensive or new system to achieve the enjoyable surround sound to go with fantastic looking movies. Samsung 3D Blu-ray disc player only has one HDMI 1.4 output, one digital optical output, analog 7.1 output & 2 Ch analog but no HCMI 1.3 output for current receivers. Newer 7.1 audio receivers have HDMI 1.4 pass-thru to TV & best Dolby & DTS capability. Otherwise a 5.1 receiver that supports lower quality Dolby Digital & DTS thru the optical connection to disc player is ok, like our 2001 audio system that can still rattle the walls. We plan to up-date to 7.1 HDMI 1.4 pass-thru system later.
Summary
A TV capable of giving perfect reproduction of original video at any viewing angle and can adjust many things for personal preferences of picture. 3D movies are awesome & gives occasional pop-out-of-screen effects. 2D to 3D conversion of cable programs & movies can give really nice realistic effect when have foreground with deep background- particularily flying & mountain scenes. TV is worth it just for 2D to 3D convesion. 3D glasses are comfortable & fit over regular glasses. Samsung 3D Blu-ray player is outstanding with small compact design, amazing quick disc load times & contemporary design with touch buttons & see-thru window above disc. This plasma cons are the poor audio which is universal with flat screen TVs making at least a separate 5.1 or better audio system mandatory for theater like expeience. (Didn't deduct rating for audio.) Also, this size plasma set uses 440W of power compared to 201W for old 57" projection TV & more than same size LCD flat panel TVs. But this is equivalent of only 2 more light bulbs being on and is small price to pay for exceptional picture with 3D capabilties. - 1080p - Samsung Plasma - Internet Tv - Hdtv'
i have had two other cuff leg straps from other sources that have fallen off and been lost while riding. these seem more substantial, seem thicker and seem to have more velcro to keep them on then my previous cuff leg straps. however, being thicker seems to make them hotter and heavier than other products but i would only wear them in the winter time anyway. Cannister Vacuum - pet hair vacuum, vacuum
I did not realize Black & Decker made a full sized plug-in vacuum cleaner so I gave this one a try for our basement. It is beautifully designed and made and really works well. It comes with a whole bunch of attachments (I haven't even used them all). It is powerful but sounds quiet and high quality when turned on. It's easy to empty without getting your hands dirty and feels as well made as the dyson I have. It also has a great cord rewind feature which makes putting it away much easier than the dyson.
I definitely recommend it, especially for those looking for a high quality canister type vacuum cleaner. Black & Decker Bagless Canister Pet Vac
I've just run a test drive on this vacuum, and I have 3 dogs so I can verify there is a lot of fur and dander in my carpets. The vacuum has a LOT of suction power, which is fine for hard floors; the rug attachment DOES NOT do anywhere near good enough job on the rugs. I know, I'm crying great big tears. Back it goes.
I bought this vacuum because it was the only one I could find that is bagless, has a retractable cord, and a telescopic wand. The suction is just barely there when ANY of the attachments are on. I have to take the attachments off to get corners clean. Forget about pet hair, it wont handle it! The attachments don't snap onto the vacuum, with the exception of a clip that goes onto the hose that gets in the way. So none of the attachments you need are ever around when you need to switch them. Carpet attachment wont even work on my short pile persian rug, and wont roll easily. The beater bar stops the second you put in on the floor. It is quite large and heavy to move around. I should have sent this back!
95% of my floors are a hard surface. We are a family of 2 parents, 5 kids running in age from college down through 1yr old toddler, 2 jack russell dogs, and three cats. My husband is a landscaper (read: dirty!)
I LOVE this vacuum! I have to constantly clean the floors and I don't like lugging around the stick style vacuum...the canister vac pulls easily behind me, the hardwood floor head fits easily under counter cabinets, couches, beds - and pops off easily for me to attack the baseboards, corners, cobwebs, couch crevices, etc. The bagless dirt container empties easily. The "self clean" feature 'flicks' the filter during a high-speed spin when you push the button, which knocks the tiny dust particles out of the filter (think of the old-fashioned beating of a rug to rid it of dirt) which allows the suction to stay very strong. I have used/abused this vacuum for almost four years & its still running strong. The one feature that may not be as great as the rest of them: use of the carpet beater head for carpet cleaning does not seem to have the great results that the hardwood version has on the floors, just so-so. But, if I had mostly carpet in my house I would use a stick vac anyway.
This vacuum (B&D) is lightweight and great for hardwood floors (and for use by the elderly as it is lightweight). It is great for fragile furniture as the all-plastic design will not bang up walls or furniture legs when inadvertantly hit.
Useless for carpets and rugs... For carpets and rugs, I ended up buying a a Hoover equivalent at Walmart for slightly less.... the electric powered attachment is good for carpets and rugs... more heavyweight, chromed-metal design, however too heavy-duty for hardwood floors or around fine furniture... heavy and bangs things up too much.
So now I own 2 vacuums, one for each task.
This thing is amazing! After going through several vacuums throughout the years and never really finding one that works with pet hair, I'm ecstatic with the Black & Decker Bagless Canister. It gets hair off of hardwood floor and carpeting, and does wonders on furniture, shades, etc. It gets stuff from underneath furniture and other hard to reach areas with it's suction power and great attachments. It really does the trick no matter what you need to pick up. It handles any job with ease and has the power, features and usability of a very expensive unit. It's easy to clean, doesn't fill up quickly and is an all around excellent buy for anyone in the market for a vacuum, not just per owners. I highly recommend this vacuum!
I was in the Black and Decker outlet the other day and saw this item as a refurbished product for only $89! I had been looking at an electrolux canister for over $300... I already own an upright Dyson, which is large and quite cumbersome, especially on stairs!
This little canister is VERY powerful... I have three Newfoundland dogs, so I know what dog hair is like! The floor attachments were great, the wand and brush attachement also were great. The only thing I didn't tackle were the oriental rugs... the carpet attachment is NOT powered, so I have a feeling it isn't going to do the carpet as good as the Dyson, but overall I am extremely happy with my purchase and even happier with my price! (I had a small canister with bags and it was horrible)
Staple Gun - wire stapler
This is a great product when you are working alone running romex. It works easily to just hold wire in place and it's fast. You can run your wire and with one hand get it held in place. The staples easily pull out so no mater how many staples you shot in, you still really need to go back and hammer in a few standard staples. I use this stapler to put in one every three feet or so and then with both hands free and the wire already held in place I can easily put in a few regular staples - so much easier than holding the wire while trying to hold a staple and working the hammer. Get lots of extra staples when you order this - you go through them fast. One drawback is the gun only holds 20 staples so plan on a way to carry a box of staples back into that crawlspace or when you are tiptoeing and balancing on the floor joists up in the attic. I would recommend this far anyone trying to make their wiring task easier. Arrow Wire and Cable Staple Gun no. T72
I think Arrow has almost got it with their T72 Staple Gun, It fires nicely but they still haven't found a way to get the staples to grip better, they claim they have put a coating on the staples that is supposed to make them hold, but what they really need is some kind of barb on the staple to hold it in !!!
When I fist bought one of these I thought it was a great product. It provided a quick, cheap and easy way to run RG-6 cable. The first one lasted about a year, then started to "misfire" by not fully ejecting the staple leaving it stuck half way out of the gun. This happened once in a while and became more frequent until it would not set any staples. I do satellite TV installation so just thought it was wore out. I purchased another but within a couple of boxes of staples it started doing the same thing. You would think for $50 it should not be too hard to make a reliable staple gun. If you plan to use it only lightly and do not plan on putting more than a couple of boxes through it then this should work fine. On the other hand you can buy the more expensive and better screw cable clips and save money.
Good product, however the straps it shoot (T72) are a long way off from being reliable. Keep an eye on this. When Arrow inproves the straps, this will be a good staple/strap gun to use for running romex.
The big advantage is being able to hold the cable with one hand and staple with the other. Like another reviewer, I have found that depending on the age/hardness of the wood, I sometimes need to go back and tap the staples further in with a hammer. I have not found any need to add ordinary staples; once installed these seem to hold pretty well. I've always found the nail-in staples awkward, perhaps due to my mediocre skill with a hammer. This is a lot easier and faster. - Wire Stapler'
Markers - permanent markers, markers
Shapie markers are simply the best permanaemt markers for just about any use. We use them for making quick signs in our shop, putting names on clothing (on the inside), and in the woodshop to indicate cut lines.
The colors are bright and do not fade over time. They are also pernanent, so some care should be taken.
Highly recommended! Sharpie Fine-Tip Permanent Marker, 24-Pack Assorted Colors
Although I ordered this item, I actually received the "80's Glam" color set with 24 fine markers, which is almost the same but about 10 markers are different (the ones on the far left in the picture). I also ordered the ultra-fine version: Sharpie Ultra-Fine-Point Permanent Markers, 24-Pack Colored Markers (32893).
Both sizes are suitable for writing - these "fine" are much finer than a standard chisel-tip marker, for example. The ultra-fine are much finer, more like a pen than a marker. These are great for posters and coloring when we want permanent or water-proof, or writing on packing boxes, etc.; and the ultra-fine for general writing, such as labeling CDs, ziploc bags, etc., and detail work on small posters.
These are top-quality permanent markers. If you want a large variety of colors, this is an excellent set; we've had no dripping or bleeding. Just keep in mind colors may vary from the picture.
Always love Sharpies, bright, long-lasting, and fun. Note that the 5 markers on the left side of the front row may not be the same as the ones pictured, since they are the limited edition ones... was a little disappointed that I didn't get the "Caribbean Colors" set, but love them just the same.
These are bright colors and they seem to last forever as long as the caps are on tight. I think I've had mine for a couple of years now. I can't keep my daughter's hands out of my markers! Therefore, I am getting her a pack of her very own for Christmas.
I always had to deal with never finding a marker when I really needed one. So I got this package, and now I have markers throughout the house! The different colors make labeling more fun. The only negative is the lighter colors are a bit tough to read, so I haven't found an appropriate use for them as of yet. The darker ones are great, though!
I bought this for a friend in a nursing home. She hand-makes greeting cards and these were exactly what she needed for a new project (wanted lots of different colors). It was easy to order them for her, they weren't expensive and they made her so happy. I'd say this purchase was a hit. - Color - Permanent Markers - Markers - Marker Pens'
soap saver - soap saver
We have always had an issue with soap sitting in its own water and getting all soft, melted, and gross. This dish solves that problem. The little wooden insert keeps the soap out of the water that drips off it. The insert is removable so you can wash it in the sink every once in a while. If your bar soap has been driving you nuts this is exactly what you need. It even looks pretty! Now I won't feel guilty about buying lovely scented soaps at the farmer's markets. White Porcelain Soap Dish with Wooden Grate
A very attractive, heavy, and solid soap dish. I bought it to hold a one pound bar of Marie's Chef's Soap 16-Ounce Bar of Biodegradable Kitchen Hand Soap, and it fits perfectly. Looks great sitting by the sink as well. I rub the wooden part with Howard Products Butcher Block Conditioner BBC012 every now and then. It helps keep the soap from sticking.
I bought this soapdish for my guest bathroom. I was a little concerned that it would be too big but it actually looks very nice. It is larger than standard soapdishes and yet it looks beautiful in my bathroom. I think I will buy another one for the master bathroom. My only negative comment is to the picture that the seller posted here. How can you have such a nice product to sell and use such a terrible photo to show it to the world. - Soap Saver'
Workout Towel
I purchased this towel because I needed an affordable, but absorbent hand towel for hot yoga. I did not want to spend the money on the expensive yogitoes version and decided to give this one a try. It wicks away sweat with ease and dries very quickly. I'm glad I chose this towel over a more expensive brand. Gaiam Small Thirsty Towel
I really love this towel! I use it everyday for hot yoga and it's held up great for months. It stays odor-free. It's large enough to cover the entire face in one wipe, and it's soft and cuddly and a pleasure to wipe with. The color hasn't faded even with frequent washings, and the thick absorbent towel will probably last several more years. There are absolutely no pulls or fraying in the towel at all. It's so strong that sometimes I even use it in place of a strap. Can't go wrong with this one.
This small-size towel is perfect for my Yoga sessions. I can roll it up to support my neck, fold it to cushion an ankle or knee, and place it beyond my mat to keep my hands off the dirty floor during forward bends. It washes and dries well, and it comes in attractive colors. Oh, yes - it doesn't skid around.
I feel weird about this towel. Here's why.
Let me start by saying that I lift weights and do cardio almost every day, and my time at the gym is 3-4 hours, so I sweat A LOT. My normal white hand towel always "fills up" with sweat before I'm done working out, so I decided to try this towel to see if it was any better.
So here's my assessment: It absorbs great. It never "fills up" with sweat. Therefore I never feel that I've used up all the dry spots. It's a great size for the gym. I can easily toss it over my shoulder and move from exercise to exercise without it getting in the way. I can toss it over the hand rail of any cardio machine and it's long enough that it doesn't fall off. The color is cool. It looks good. It dries fast... You'd think that would be more than enough to deserve 5 stars. But it's not.
The reason? Well, it just doesn't feel good when I wipe my skin. It's a little hard to describe, but basically, it doesn't glide smoothly. It's by no means rough or scratchy. It just seems to catch ever so slightly to my skin and I personally don't like how it feels.
Bottom line is that all the other reviews are correct about this item; it is a great towel. But for some reason, I'm sensitive to how this towel feels and I personally don't like it at all. Only one other review here shares my opinion, so if I were you, I'd buy it and try it. If you don't like it, return it. That's what I'm going to do.
This towel is exactly what I was looking for. I needed a small, absorbent towel that I could use while exercising, and I wanted something I could wash with my workout clothes- which are all dark colored. The white towels microfiber towels pick up color easily, and I knew that they would soon turn grey if I tried to wash them with dark clothing.
The towel is a great size for hanging around my neck without being obtrusive, and it can more than handle my workout sweat. I bought one, then bought two more after I received it and tried it out, so I can always have a fresh one.
This towel has a strange texture, but I have gotten used to it. If you can get past the texture, it's a great towel. It absorbs a lot of sweat for its size, and I think the price is really reasonable compared to other yoga towels.
I don't understand the comments of other reviews about the towel leaving "fuzzies" behind on their skin? Perhaps they were using it before washing it for the first time (not sure), but I haven't had any such problems at all. The towel is very soft and absorbant and I've washed it plenty and it keeps it color (not that I care what color my sweat towel is anyway), so I don't understand those comments on here either.
I think this towel does a great job and at a great price!
After reading some of those reviews before buying this towel, I was worried--but I let the majority of the reviews rule and purchased it. I have no idea what the negative comments are all about because that has not been my experience.'
Slim External Dvd Rw - acer, external dvd burner
I bought 3 Acer Aspire One computers as Christmas presents this year and needed at least 1 external drive to share between them. 2 of the computers had Windows 7 Starter as the operating system ansd the other had Windows XP. The drive was basicly plug & play on the XP computer, but would not work on the Windows 7 computers at all. The disc that came with the drive had old drivers on it that didn't include Windows 7. The instruction sheet was of no use at all. There was no manufacturers name or model number on the drive, nothing I could reference any kind of a search with. I downloaded several different codec's but none would operate the drive. Fianally I called Acer for help and found out that they hadden't released any drivers for the Aspire One with Windows 7 Starter. The reason, "Windows 7 is too new, and to keep checking back with them."
The seller of the drive wasn't aware that it was not compatable with Windows 7. I gave it 3 stars overall rating because it did work fine with XP computer. I only gave it 1 star for ease of use and ease of installation because I had so much trouble with it trying to get it to work. I don't think the vender screened the product for compatibility with Windows 7. USB External CD DVD RW Burner Drive For Acer Aspire one
Ok, This is a great little CD-DVD player and burner. it does not required to install any CD it install by it self, true to the Plug and Play :D This DVD Player is able to play CD and DVD without any problems, You can view your DVD with free software like Windows Player or Real player, or with tons of freeware DVD players. It also can burn CD and DVD with free software like Windows, Itunes, Zune or any other free software. The Only bad thing is that this little monster will drain you laptop battery fast when burning a CD and DVD, it takes some power to do. Which its fine. Plus its really small and kinda hard so you can carry it with you.
I'm pleased with it, it's the best you're going to get out of USB 2.0, and it works as well as the drives twice the cost. It looks the same as the $100+ drives too.
It requires either a second USB port, or an external adapter (not included) so factor that in. It's not a criticism (it takes that much power to burn a DVD), it just may not be obvious beforehand. USB 1.x is acceptable for power, if you're using it on a machine that has both types or have a spare "charging" hub. Not surprisingly, it does not play nice with my unpowered hub -- it needs a full 500 mW to each port.
My drive was shipped with no software or drivers and it did NOT come with a DVD decoder. I installed it on an Acer Netbook with Windows XP Home Edition. Initially Windows did not recognize the drive, so I had to uninstall the device using Windows Device Manager and rebooted the computer.
Once I did that Windows successfully installed the drive and I was up and running. However I was not able to play DVDs and had to purchase a $[...] DVD decoder download to play DVDs with Windows Media Player. After that, the drive functioned normally and produced smooth video on my netbook screen. In order to burn CD's and DVD's I believe most computer users will want to buy third-party software which should be considered in the total cost. This bare-bones package includes no disks, no external power supply, no carrying case and scant documentation. More expensive drives include those extras.
To burn disks, the drive requires connections to two USB 2.0 ports to get enough power. Total travel weight of this drive with both cables is 11.6 ounces. The drive is just a fraction of an inch wider and deeper than a DVD or CD and is just thick enough for the drawer to accommodate a disk. If you're looking for one of the least expensive external DVD/CD reader/burners you can buy, this drive may be just the ticket. However if you need a complete package including movie-making software, DVD decoder, carrying case and external power supply you might want to buy a more expensive drive that includes them in a bundle. That would probably be cheaper than buying this drive and all of those other items separately.
I'm stuck using a little netbook while my desktop is in the shop. But, this little DVD reader/burner hardly makes me miss my desktop at all. It's been great for watching movies, and burning info to CDs and DVDs. It's small enough to take along for travel and road trips if need be. I have NO REGRETS at ALL with this purchase and highly recommend this product!!
I got it for my HP Mini that came with Windows 7. I plugged it in and in under a minute the pop-up said that my device was installed and ready for use.
I popped in a DVD and it wouldn't play. Yikes! one may think, but this is not the fault of the player though; I needed the codec that is easily downloaded from the internet.
The player itself gave me no issues and I would recommend it for the HP Mini w/Windows 7.
I have a netbook, so there is no optical drive. I needed to upload some software plus some music and this drive fit the bill perfectly. It worked as advertised, I plugged it on to the USB and started using it immediately.
In order to watch DVD's I did have to download a DVD decoder, it was Microsoft approved and cost $14.99. It downloaded easily and I was able to test out a few DVD's and they worked fine.
I can't comment on the burn ability, since I would use my desktop computer for that, but I found this a very inexpensive way to get software onto my netbook.
Yes, you save some bucks, some weight, and a lot of battery life by buying a Netbook over a conventional laptop or notebook. But you really need one of these drives. The good thing about getting one external burner like this is that you can bring it with you if you need it; and it can double for so many further uses. This one has no connectivity issues at all. Just plug it in, and you're working. - External Drive - Netbook - Acer - External Dvd Burner'
Flip Ultra Hd - flip video, flip ultra hd
Overall I love this camera. It's easy to use. Easy to set up. Easy to get my pics and videos off of it. The picture quality itself is excellent. While I admit I AM a big fan of Sony (am typing this on my Vaoi Laptop), that's only because they keep delivering value. For the price you can't beat this video / camera combo.
Only one thing I would request - a stronger light and / or a flash option. That is the reason for the 4 star rating under feature set.
Also, my technophobe husband was able to pick this up and use it with no instruction from me. Priceless. Sony Bloggie Duo Camera (Violet) NEWEST MODEL - Flip Ultra Hd - Hd Camcorder - Flip Video - High Definition'
