Rechargeable Batteries - laptop batteries, e1505
Just a little tidbit for everyone using laptop battaries(specifically LI-Ion)
Most battaries that favor a constant charge and recharge capacity work in two different forms. Your standard Ni-Cd or nickel cadmium battery is a slow drain slow charge type battery, a complete drain and recharge is a standard that most of us know. Not the case with Li-Ion, the lithium battery, and newer Metal Hydroxide batteries work better and last longer using the 100-40-100-20-100-40-100-40-100-20% recharge plans. On your initial charge of 100% charging you let the battery drain to 40% and then recharge to 100% and then the second depletion to 20% and back to a full recharge cycle. This helps maintain the battery condition and in some aspects the "Brain" of the battery so to speak is set in motion and maintains battery health througout time.
I myself thought the cycle was complete depleation of the battery on each recharge which actually shortens the life of the battery.(learn something new everyday)
Another item to remember is that when you plug in your laptop, and the indicator says fully charged, the battery is still being used in most cases and recharging. A good note is to remove the battery while in use of a power outlet and set aside until going mobile. This will also help prolong the battery. Hope this helps anyone who may be having to replace batteries often.
(P.S.) also good for cell phone usage (have had my phone for 4 years with no problems in keeping a full charge of battery life for at least 2 days, havent replaced the battery yet)
Enjoy :) Laptop Replacement Battery for 312-0428, 0UD260, KD476, GD761, Inspiron 1501, Inspiron 6400, Inspiron E1505, Latitude 131L
Hi All,
I have been a great fan of all products and customer reviews provided at amazon. This is the first time that a product that had 17 4+ reviews failed miserably. The battery seems to be not recognized by Dell. Once I put the battery in my Inspiron E1505, on booting the laptop, i get the warning message stating
"Warning:The model number of the primary battery can not be recognized by Dell
The battery would not be charged."
I spent almost 2 hours trying to resolve this issue, upgraded my bios from A03 to A17 but still nothing changes. Either all the 17 4+ reviewers were affiliates of the seller and are bogus or my case is a one of scenario. Whatever be it, I am highly dissatisfied by the product and would appreciate if anyone knows of a valid solution for the 50$ spent on this item.
In spite of Amazon's product title, this battery is not compatible with my Inspiron 1505. The 1505 does not recognize this battery, and it does not charge. Save yourself the aggravation, and avoid this product.
I read all the favorable reviews about this "Laptop Replacement Battery" and bought this product on September 10, 2009. I received it via USPS on September 24th. The battery was about 62% charged when I got it. I have a Dell Inspiron E1505, and I had checked before buying that this battery was compatible with E1505.
Now the problem.
The battery is not recognised by Dell at bootup. I upgraded by bios, with the same result. After the complete charge of the battery was drained out, i have tried charging it, and it does not charge at all.
I think I have been thoroughly duped. I bought this for $51, and I now see that the price has been reduced to $39.
I am going to figure out a way to return this product and get my money back. A complete waste of time, and waste of money.
Save yourself $50 and don't buy this piece of crap.
The laptop battery arrived promptly with USPS priority mail.
I left it charged fully over night for about 6 hours.
It functioned for a full 3 hours before getting down to the 10% recharge level. The usage was heavy 2 hour disk and CD drive work as I was installing web cam software twice as I goofed it up the first time and had to unload the software and load it again. Last hour was email and web usage.
The battery performed better than expected. The battery meter at one point indicated that it had 5+ hours left. I am sure that would be just web usage.
Great deal versus the Dell $150+ price tag.
This battery is compatible and works well with the Vostro 1000. Instructions are confusing. I simply installed and followed good battery practices - completely charged the battery, completely drained the battery, then repeated.
UPDATE: One year later and this battery is still working like a champ! :)
--------------------------------------
I've needed a new battery for my Inspiron E1505 for several months, but just didn't want to bite the bullet and spend nearly $200 buying it from Dell. On a whim, I thought I'd check Amazon. I found this and saw that most reviews were good, so I took a shot.
I've had the battery for a little over a month now and it seems to be working well. I'm very glad I didn't spend the money buying a Dell battery when this one works just as well for 1/4 the price. Even if it doesn't last as long as a manufacturer's battery, it won't be that heart-breaking to lose $50 bucks.
The only VERY MINOR complaint, if you can call it that, is that the indicator lights on the battery itself (showing you how much juice is left when you press the button,) doesn't seem to work. I shaved off one star because of this, but it's really not a big deal to me. - Laptop Batteries - E1505 - Dell Battery - Laptop Battery'

Micro Four Thirds
I use it with the NX100...Simply a great lens...Razor sharp,feels solid,fast focus speed.
The only thing that might be considered a disadvantage is that it's heavy and large...Heavier than the NX100...But not to the point to take a star from the rating.
I noticed that the image stabilization is great...Much better than the Panny Mega one..
Well done Samsung.
I got it for one fifty with the NX100...What a price. Samsung 50-200 mm f/4-5.6 Lens for NX Series Cameras
This lens is priced inline with other consumer lenses with the same specs (Nikon / Canon / Panasonic) - mid-to-long telephoto in the f/4-5.6 range with stabilization, but the build and image quality is exceptional.
Handling on the NX100 is a little different than with a similar lens on other systems - the lens weighs a little more than the body and drastically changes the balance. In practice it works well as you support the bottom of any zoom with your left hand anyway, so shooting is comfortable but different in that all the weight is in that hand since the camera weighs so little. Carrying the camera on the strap with this lens mounted will also leave the lens pointed down, rather than out, but the zoom is tight and there is no barrel creep. (The other system lenses are so small that the body usually lays flat against your torso on the strap.)
I own the Nikon 55-200 f/4-5.6, and have used the canon equivalent in the past. In comparison this lens is more solid with a better feel in your hands. Zooming feels smooth and purposeful, while the Nikon version feels cheaper and more plastic. The Samsung mount is metal (plastic on Nikon), and overall fit and finish are superb.
Images are sharp and vibrant, stabilization is smooth and quiet, while the focus is quick and silent. The Samsung system lacks a direct connection to the focus helicoid, but manual focus feels nearly as direct and the results are just as good. Near-to-far focus is about 1.5 turns, excellent for precision work. Autofocus is quick and quiet, more so on both accounts than the comparison lens.
I expected this lens to be similar to the competing systems in terms of quality and performance, but I have been pleasantly surprised in every way.'

Cd Storage - dvd case, cd holder
Like the other Case Logic CDW wallets, this one has removalbe pages, holds the discs securely, and has room for rather substantial liner notes. Those that won't fit in the sleeves will fit in the pockets up front.
Because of the unique design of the locking system however, inserting papges is not particularly easy -- the rings lock in front of the first page, so to insert a page, you have to pull out all of the pages in front of it. It would have made more sense to have it lock in the back -- that is where you would either want to add pages, or remove the extra ones.
All in all, we are pleased ... it is a great way to store our cd's, it gets rid of that major shelving system we bought only for our discs, and, frankly, the discs are more accessible, than in some of those fancy jewell cases.
My favorite aspect of the wallets is that we actually listen to our music more -- we were storing our discs in our library -- away from our stereo, so you actually had to make an effort to pull the discs if you wanted to listen to them. Because these books are so much more portable, they are where our stereo is.
I foresee the future holding all music electronically, on demand. But in the meantime, several of us own thousands of CD's and this seems to be the best way to store and protect them.
(PS I understand the hesitation of actually tossing the jewell cases -- all I can say is DO IT!!! It feels fine. And if worse comes to worse, pull them open and save the inserts.) Nylon 320-Disc CD Wallet (Black) plus 16 CD/DVD Fast File Holder
the first cd wallet of this magnitude i ever bought- was the fellowes one. (my review is in there somewhere) I have two of these case logic wallets now (i bought one on sale @ amazon and my friend sent me one from my wish list). I'm ordering a THIRD case logic case because they withstood hurricane Rita... well... actually there wasn't much of a hurricane in Houston - BUT i did have to lug all of three of my 320 cd wallets around during the evacuation. (house to car to 2nd floor apartment to car to house)
both brands are made well- neither of them broke during the evacuation- which is amazing seeing as how- with all my cd's and dvd's inside each wallet weighs 17 to 18 lbs.
I have decided to purchase another case logic cd case- for many reasons...
1. The Fellowes is made well- but you can't take pages out and organize them. The case logic case- you can- it's a pain in the butt though- especially if you want to change a section in the very back... but it's still nice to have the option- and still way better than having to move the cd's out of the sleeves.
2. The Fellowes is made well- but the construction doesn't have as much heft to it as the case logic. when both are empty and you're holding one in each hand- the case logic is a little heavier. the case logic- has nicer smoother nylon feeling fabric- rather than the coarse canvas fellowes. the case logic's has more seam reinforcement. the fellowes has a little bit more padding- but i don't really see how it makes any difference in protecting the media inside.
3. both are difficult to zip- and i'll probably have to rub soap or wax on both brands eventually---- but the thin fabric on the fellowes makes it REALLY hard to zip- where as the case logic - has more hefty fabric which instead of moving with the zipper pull- it stays in place.
4. the binder like quality of the case logic- allows you to use this case frequently without fear of damaging or ripping out pages- ie... flipping around for half an hour trying to figure out what dvd you want to watch.
i keep cd's in the fellowe's one- because it's just for storage. (I highly recommend the 4gb ipod nano opposed to the 2gb fyi) i would NEVER get a fellowe's to house my dvds. These two case logics get thrown around a lot... literally because they're heavy. the pages get smacked around- back & forth, back & forth... they've taken a lot of abuse and that is why this case get's a 5 star rating. i know if i used the fellowes case for my dvd's that thing would have been broken after the first month.
It is wonderful grabbing one of these cases and flipping thru the pages to find my CDs, rather than pawing thru jewel cases, knocking over the stacks of them, and giving up after a half hour of searching. I have 3 CDW-320's, each holding a different genre of music. In a fire, I could grab all three cases and go, where that would've been impossible before. By my calculations, the physical space used by my CD collection has decreased by 40%!
The way to do what I did is to get rid of the jewel cases entirely. To do that, do this for each CD you own:
1) Each side of each CDW-320 page has four pockets. Put the CD in one of the two top-most Pockets on a page.
2) Put the CD's booklet in the pocket underneath its CD.
3) Finally, pop open the CD case (it takes just a little force) and pry out the back-of-the-CD card. Straighten out the folds of that card, and slide it in sideways into the bottom pocket, behind the CD's booklet. It will stick up over the top of the pocket, but since it's in the bottom and the CD's in the top, it doesn't hurt anything. The back card will just cover up a little of the CD.
Continuing in this fashion will allow you to fill up the wallet with 160 CDs, since each CD takes up two pockets. Double and Triple CD cases work similarly, and just use up more pocket-pairs.
When you take out a CD to play it, you can take out the booklet too, and see the back-card with the tracklisting through the clear pockets. You never have to take the back-card out, which is good, since its straightened-out folds may be delicate and may rip with too much handling.
Finally, you can recycle the jewel cases, saving a few in case you want to lend a CD to someone.
One other plus to this one over the other Case Logic cases: not only is it the biggest, but it allows the pages to be removed and shuffled. Like another reviewer said, it's a pain, but at least it's doable. The smaller cases do not have this feature. - Cd Storage - Cd Holder - Dvd Binder - Dvd Case'

Ceramic Flat Irons - flat iron, ceramic
I shopped around on Amazon before buying this one because I had specific product requirements: ceramic hotplates, rounded edges so it wouldn't catch and tug/tear my hair, multiple heat settings and not overpriced. This one has all these features and it came with free shipping. So far I have not had any problems with it, it does exactly what it advertises and it makes my hair look great - I have thin hair but it has a lot of body/wave to it and this iron makes it sleek and it will stay for most of the day. Because my hair is thin I don't have the heat setting too high so I don't toast it, you can set it really hot, so if I was going out in the evening it only takes a couple of minutes to touch up. This thing heats up real fast too.Ceramic Tools CT2555 1" Professional Ceramic Flat Iron
I've had this flat iron for about a year - never had a problem. Gets seriously hot - my thick, ultra wavy hair is totally tamed by it. Slides through with no problem, and my hair actually feels HEALTHIER now - not the heat stroked, dryed out mess I feared after such long use.
10 minutes every other day and people actually think my hair is naturally straight! A couple of people even asked if I'd had a straight perm ... that is serious results for a girl who has been fighting with a flipping, curling, wavy mess her whole life.
I have medium hair and like the 1 inch - for anything longer than the shoulders I would get a 1.5 or 2 inch.
After 4 years I had to replace my old straightener and decided to get this one after some research. The price and great ratings are the main thing that caught my eye. After paying 16 bucks for my old straightener which worked great, I wasn't shelling out 50+ bucks for another one. So here's a breakdown:
Pros:
1. Heats up quickly. 25 settings for any hair type. I consider my hair more on the thin side, but I like to keep it set to around 20 when I straighten my hair, I could honestly keep it a bit lower and still straighten fine.
2. Glides over your hair smoothly, no pulling. It feels like a straightener isn't being used on my hair at all.
3. On/Off Button.
4. Exceptionally long cord with a swivel feature (good if you need to straighten someone else's hair or don't have an outlet right next to your mirror).
5. Eliminates any frizz or flyaway hairs I have and straightens each section in one go.
6. Easy to flip or curl the ends of your hair.
7. I saw a comment about the plates having a gap, which is something I don't like about some straighteners. But with this one the plates get pressed together perfectly, no gap.
8. Great Price!
Cons:
1. It does get very hot. I wouldn't recommend the highest setting, unless nothing lower works. I can see how people would burn their hair using this if they just set it to 25 right away.
2. No lock feature to keep it closed when not in use. I loved this about my old straightener.
3. It has a piece of plastic that comes down after the plates in the middle of the straightener. I think this is to help limit the pressure put on the plates when squeezing the straightener closed. Sometimes my hair gets caught in the plastic 'tooth' when I straighten. But this is just an error on my part for trying to straighten too much hair at once or putting my hair too far back in the straightener and not realizing it.
Overall I highly recommend this straightener. I don't see the need to pay $100+ for a Chi, when people I know have had them break so easily. I can straighten my hair in 5-10mins and even though my hair normally curls like crazy in the Florida humidity, it stays straight throughout the day after using this.
The main issues I have with this iron is that it gets incredibly hot on the outside felt area (near the ceramic tongs), and that in combination with the problem that the hand clamp (when used as intended, with your hands on the half of the iron near the cord) does not entirely depress the tips of the ceramic iron together means you have to clamp down further up on the iron (using the felt area) in order to get it to properly depress all the way. Since the iron is poor at keeping the heat only in the ceramic iron part of the tool, you're probably going to be getting your hand burnt if you really want to use this tool effectively.
To me that is a fundamental failure in the design of this iron and I can't recommend it at any price.
I was skeptical of this product but I figured for 35 bucks, I'd take a chance. A few years ago I bought a Conair straightener for nearly 70 dollars and it was worthless, so I was a bit skeptical as I said. However, when I got it in the mail yesterday evening, I plugged it in and I was amazed. I have rather wavy, tough, thick hair. I thought the only way to tame it was a chemical straightening, which I did 2 years ago and it was soooo expensive. I plugged this straightener in and it heated up within seconds. Not minutes, people. The first time I ran it across a bit of my hair, I was shocked. This is an amazing hair straightener and I am sooooo happy I purchased it. It turned my thick hair into something that looked so amazing. I've never seen anything like it. I would highly highly highly recommend this product for anyone who had coarse thick hair, or just anyone who wants straight hair. It's amazing. - Ceramic Flat Iron - Ceramic - Hair Straightener - Flat Iron'

Dog Clippers - dog clippers, pet grooming
My dog is a Poodle corgi mix with a thick undercoat. I was tired of cutting her fur every month with scares and having her have a bad hair day for weeks until her hair grew back. I really don't want to spend $40-$60 on her getting professionally groomed every time she needed togo short. I came a cross these clippers on amazon.com and noticed it was at a good price. Doesn't come with DVD but for the great price you get clippers, the blade attachments, a comb, oil with brush, and a case to store everything. All I did is youtubed a grooming clip and tahdah I'm a pro. She looks so cute and I feel so proud of myself:D Wahl 9160-210 Pet Clipper Kit
This was definitely worth every penny, it's a no brainer to use. I do suggest watching a tutorial on grooming dogs on YouTube before actually grooming your dog. But this does the trick time and time again. Don't bother getting the more expensive one, just buy this one and call it a night.
I have a toy poodle. Absolutely love the breed and have no complaints other than the maintenance of their coat. My little 6lb pup I have had for a year now and every 6-8 weeks I have paid to get him groomed which costs about $30-35 before including a tip. Needless to say this gets pricey. Let me also start out by saying I have had good and TERRIBLE experiences with groomers.
Finally I saw this and thought "this will cost less than one visit to the groomers" and decided to try it. It works pretty well except does not do well cutting out matted hair (luckily I brush my dog and he has barely any matted hair) but even the hair that is a bit tangley it doesn't like to work through. For the most part I am satisfied (even though the product came used when I thought I was purchasing new). My dog's hair is a bit uneven (probably due to my inexperience as a groomer) but I think I will get better at it. It actually makes me wonder how people I am paying $30 to cut my dogs hair can do a worse job than I have done. Obviously the good groomers I have had experience with do a much better job than me but still there are a ton of bad grooming jobs I have had to deal with while finding a decent groomer. Anyway, the guards that come with the tool make it practically idiot proof. Paws are a bit more difficult to do because you cannot use a guard.
Honestly, I will still have to send my little guy to the groomer 2-3x a year just to have it done properly but I think that this will enable me to save quite a bit of money since I don't mind doing it myself. Let's hope it lasts!
I'm not knocking Wahl products, I've used their clippers on my dogs for years. I dropped and broke the last pair; my own stupid fault. I thought I'd save a buck and get these for a replacement, and they are TERRIBLE. You'd be better off using first-grade safety scissors. I spent about 2 hours trying to trim a schnauzer and finally just gave up. Spend 20 or 30 extra bucks and get the better Wahl clippers, you'll be glad you did.
I am no barber for sure, but I wanted these clippers to cut my dogs hair.
I cannot believe how easy it was to operate. I felt like a pro the first time I used them.
Not only did my dog get a nice haircut, but I also use it to trim my beard.
These clippers are awesome.
I highly recommend them.
This pet clipper is not worth the money even though it was quite cheap initially, but after what I paid for return mail it ended up quite expensive as amazon only paid a fraction of the return postage compared to what it actually cost. I sent the item back as faulty, whether it was or not I don't know but it was so noisy on turning it on that it made me cringe and there was no way I could get my dog anywhere near it. I have asked around and apparently there are very noisy and expensive clippers out there. It would have been helpful to know what sort of noise levels to expect.
This apparently does not include an instructional dvd. I received the first one and was disappointed when I opened the box and there was no DVD. I contacted customer service and explained the box doesn't even list DVD in the "contents of box" " and there was no dvd in the package. I was told a replacement needed to be sent and they were rushing it. I had to wait in line at the post office and mail back the old one and patiently waited for the replacement. Just got the replacement and it is the exactly the same as the first...no dvd anywhere to be found. I haven't decided if I even want to try the clipper or just return it and this point. - Dog Clippers - Pet Grooming - Grooming - Pet Clippers'

18v Milwaukee Flashlight - vacuum, 18v
This vacuum works great. I find that it works well even as the batteries are going down. It does eat batteries pretty quickly but I'm able to get everything done I need. I also vacuum more often now that I have it. One thing to keep in mind is that is does not come with batteries. It really only makes sense to buy it if you are already invested in Milwaukee tools. Milwaukee 0880-20 18-Volt Cordless Wet/Dry Vacuum
This is a great portable vacuum. My problem is that it was described as having "a long continuous run time." That time is actually, according to both Milwaukee (personal communication) and personal experience, about 11 minutes on a fully charged 18V battery. That was less than I expected and will necessitate buying a second battery. This vacuum with two batteries at $51.18 each becomes a pretty expensive proposition. I can recommend this vacuum only if you are already invested in Milwaukee portable tools and 18-volt lithium ion batteries.
One saving grace is that if you don't anticipate using the vacuum very long at any given time, the batteries do have a short recharge time, so one battery might be sufficient.
This is definitely the Milwaukee Tool quality that I have come to respect. It has plenty of pick-up power and best of all it works with my 18V Compact Li-ion batteries that came with my drill (It also works on 18V Ni-Cad batteries as well). The battery bay has two different mounts that allow the use of either style Milwaukee 18V battery (however, only one battery can be used at any given time). It has a float inside the pick-up chamber that turns it off if too much water comes in. The hose and cabinet are made from heavy duty material making it great for rugged use. It comes with two small wands one of which is for cracks and crevices and the other for general pick up. These are kept nicely tucked away under the lid in their perspective storage areas. The only thing I wish they would have added is a small brush attachment but that is a minor thing. My wife has already snagged it to use on the carpeted steps because of how easy it is to use. Very pleased indeed!
Can vacuum a whole car on one charge. It's very convenient when you don't feel like going for a power cord. The product was too costly when it came out, now it's priced more fair. It's a bit loud, however that is because it is powerful, so, i'm completely happy with the product.
Since I already own several Milwaukee 18V cordless tools and 2 batteries, this was a fantastic addition. For small jobs, this thing can't be beat. Lightweight, sturdy, extremely portable, great suction, good attachments. For jobs like vacuuming the car, picking up sawdust or drywall, and other small projects around the house, this is the first vacuum I go to. It's very well made, and I'm actually really impressed with the hose on it - really high quality and it stretches to probably 5 feet or so, but re-coils nicely. Much better quality than any typical wet/dry vac hose. And since it's a standard 1 1/4 hose, you can add a variety of additional attachments. Plus, you can use it as a blower too.
I have no idea what the continuous run-time is, I haven't used it for more than about 5 minutes straight. But, on a single V18 battery, I can use it intermittently for several weeks (1-2 minutes at a time every 3rd or 4th day) before I need to recharge the battery. This vacuum is compatible with all 4 versions of Milwaukee 18V batteries (V18, M18, M18 compact, and NiCad).
3 limitations: 1.) It's cordless, so don't expect to run it for a half hour straight and vacuum your entire house. 2.) To make it so portable, the storage for the attachments is small. It will only hold the 2 attachments it comes with, so if you add anything else (like a brush tool), you'll need to store them separately. 3.) It's got a special lock-in hose, so you can't take any 1 1/4" shop-vac hose and plug that in.
For what it's worth, my wife rolled her eyes when she saw this show up (thought I was just buying another toy). But she had to admit that she loves this thing now too. Keeps it in the hall closet and it's the first thing she grabs to vacuum up the cat litter off the floor.
If you have the batteries already, it's a great addition. But if you're just looking for a portable vacuum, this is probably close to a $150 investment by the time you're done (just look at the "frequently bought together" section of this page).
I have used it a few times. I love it for cleaning up after house projects. chances are a house project requires another 18v tool so i just bring the vac along and clean up when i am done. not as strong as a regular shop vac but strong enough to suck up screws that fall as well as sawdust.
i would buy it again for sure.
I love this thing for cleaning the car! Just grab it and go, rather than carry the huge house vacuum down, find an outlet, fight with cables and hoses... This thing is easy to pick up and get to where you need it, and even though the hose is quite short, it gets into every place you need it.
Battery life is ok, an XC battery lasts about 10 minutes, but the standard batteries are somewhat useless. I went through one XC and two standard batteries on a thorough cleaning of my car. Just enough juice to get through. You definitely need to be careful to turn the vacuum off when you're not actively using it, because there's not much battery life to spare.
The suction is great, on par with a household vacuum. Dust busters are simply useless compared to this.
I'm in love with Milwaukee lithium tools! If you have xc batteries, or a bunch of standard batteries, I'd recommend this. Having only two standards would not be enough to clean a whole car IMO and would be frustrating. If you had to buy batteries and a charger to run this, it would be way too expensive for my taste.
Two things I wish for:
1. Two speeds to extend the battery - for most things half the suction power would be enough.
2. A rotating brush. - Milwaukee - 18v - Wet-dry Vacuums - Vacuum'

Inflation Devices - inflatables, air mattress
Purchased to use with our inflatable Kayak. Easy to work. Both inflates and deflates. We use it in tandem with one the connects your car battery. The gauge guides you in topping off your inflating. It also works on smaller air chambers like a dream. Advanced Elements Double Action Pump with Pressure Guage
This pump works like it says and the price is good.
The pressure gauge helps see when my inflatable kayak reaches the required 1 psi, which is surprisingly quite high.
The guage reads up to 16 or so, 1 psi appears just above 0, but it is readable and seems reliable.
It's slower than an electric pump, so I use an air mattress pump to do most of the inflating, then use the hand pump to top it off at the required pressure.
So while it's not that easy to use, it always works without the need for batteries, and I would definitely buy one like this again.
It looks sturdy enough to last a long time. Supposedly you can unscrew the base to take apart to oil it, but found could not easily do that by hand, (may need some kind of vice for that, if necessary.)
This pump works AWESOME! Pumps up my advanced elements kayak in no time at all because of the double action. And it is very very smooth. Not hard to pump at all in my opinion.
However, the pressure gauge does not seem to read correctly for me. If I pumped the kayak up according to the instructions and basing it off the gauge I'm sure the kayak will explode.
One other thing I should note is that this pump is HUGE! It may not look that big in the picture but its pretty dang big. It mentions in my manual that depending on the temperature that I maybe have to 're-inflate' my kayak. I can't picture bringing this pump on my kayak with me because of its sheer size and I really couldn't imagine actually maneuvering the pump to fill the kayak up whilst sitting in it.
I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the gauge and because of the VERY annoying attachments attached to the end of the hose which flap in your way. Especially when the nozzle attachment comes look and you have to re-attach it.
Overall it is a very good pump though and I would recommend it.
We are glad we paid slightly more for a pump that has a gauge and that deflates. This one
works very nicely for our inflatable kayak, especially as we can see exactly what pressure
we are applying. The pump is also light to carry and comes with nozzles to fit all.
This product is great, BUT, the adaptors fall off frequently while pumping and of course you have to start over. Easy fix, put a piece of masking tape on the adaptor. The extra thickness keeps the pump adaptor from separating from the pump hose. If AE would fix this problem, the pump would deserve 5 stars. This pump fills up the AE Convertible with about 5 minutes of pumping time.
I purchased an Advanced Elements Advanced Frame kayak from a local dealer with the AE electric car pump. I must say that the double-action hand pump is wayyy better than the car pump. It pumps my kayak up faster and easier than the electric pump, no car required! The gauge is also nice so I can be sure to inflate to full capacity without over inflating.
If you're debating on which pump to get, I would encourage you to get this one. I am a young female and I take my kayak out on my own often. The kayak and this pump are very easy to manage! :)
The shipping on the item was great as well. It arrived when promised, thanks Amazon!
Purchased this pump after reading inflation instructions for my Advanced Design kayak. The manufacture warns against over inflating, "not to exceed 2.5 PSI" and the pump I owned did not have a pressure gauge. Now that I have used this pump, I am not sold on the accuracy of the gauge. The construction and filling performance is no better that the one I bought at a local "box store" retailer.
This pump does inflate the kayak, and is easier than the foot pump, but the guage doesn't work very well, if at all. We couldn't tell because the needle jiggled but didn't give us a reading. We still had to just 'guess' about the pressure. This product is not worth it for the extra money. It comes with 4 tips, which is nice. The overall height is low to the ground, so you might want to consider something else if you have problems with your back.
This pump makes quick work of pumping up a Straitedge 2 kayak, or at least the job is done before I get too tired, maybe ten minutes of actual pumping time start to finish. The pressure gauge is a must-have, don't be cheap and save a few bucks on the version without. The nozzle does tend to be a bit slippery and fall out, you really need to jam it in, then I worry about breaking it or the boat valve, but so far, so good. - Air Mattress - Inflatables - Inflation Devices - Pumps'

Bad Business - chia pet, bad business
Our chia pet is absolutely lovely thus far. I will say that the stalks of the seed grow much longer than I expected, and that the leaves do not blossom as far as I expected.
This does not hinder our chia growing experience at all.

Ipod Dock System - iphone dock, ipod speakers
I had agonized over the ideal dock for my iPod Touch with the stipulations that it had to be a reasonable size (I've lost some interest in big component systems.), and it would need at least an FM radio. While I've wanted to try HD radio, my understanding of availability in my area was that it could be if-y. So, good FM access would be fine. It seems like a small thing, but I'm legally blind and don't drive, so casual access to something like a car radio is fairly rare for me. My first, and most familiar, choice was a product that I had some familiarity with - the VERS system, with newer models incorporating a highly visible FM tuner. I had eventually tired of shipping delays for this device and gone to Best Buy to find the Sony.
Not only did the Sony dock have better sound than the VERS that I once owned, it was smaller, stylish and has the best receiving FM tuner that I've ever found in a portable or non-portable device. I've tended to live in older homes with older wiring and cloth wrapped interference bleeding electrical systems. The reception on the Sony dock is unlike any that I've ever owned, even with the convenient telescoping antenna in the stowed position. And the sound is rich and vibrant - certainly comparable to the similar Bose device that sports no FM tuner at twice the price.
The controls at the top of the dock are easily accessed and perform all of the functions found on the remote. As I noted above, I'm legally blind, but depend just enough on the tiny amount of eyesight that I do have to make use of digital displays. This one, unfortunately, and while not a deal-breaker, is terrible. It could be larger, though it's not unreasonably small. The problem is that it's abysmally dim - of almost no use to me. If this was an adjustable - and it wouldn't have hurt if it was larger - the dock would have received 5 stars from me.
In all, the RDP-XF100iP dock is not just a fine dock that does what I'd expect a dock to do, but is a nicely put together package that represents Sony quality first represented for me in my first Trinitron to my latest HD television. Highly recommended. Sony RDP-XF100IP Portable iPod Docking Station
I have an Ipod touch 3rd generation 32mb. I have been looking at several docking stations and the cheap ones sounded like cheap ones and the expensive ones (Bose) sound awesome but are 4 to 5 times the cost ($399). The Sony came out just recently and it definitely sounds just as good as the Bose and is at least $150 less expensive. The bass is full and deep and the highs are crystal clear even at high volumes. Besides a cheaper price, another bonus this has over the Bose is the FM tuner, which the Bose lacks. It is portable and the battery can easily run 6-7 hours straight. Bottom line is if you are willing to spend a little more for the Sony over the cheaper ones, you will not be disappointed!
I compared this radio to the one from Bose that lists for $399 at Best Buy. I wanted a unit that had an internal rechargeable battery, remote, and the ability to have high volume without distortion. The Sony delivers on all three for $150 less. Plus, the Sony has a fm radio built in and the rechargeable battery can be replaced unlike the Bose.
I purchased the Sony RDP-XF100IP a couple of weeks ago and I really put it to the test !!!! I compared it along side of my Bose SoundDock Portable! I had read so many good things about the Sony RDP-XF100IP, and some even dared to compare it to the more costly Bose SoundDock Portable.
So how does the Sony RDP-XF100IP sound ? It sounds really good and for the money and the size of the unit it sounds great! When I was in "Best Buy" I listened to the Logitech s715i and I compared it to the Sony RDP-XF100IP, the Sony won hands down, the Logitech s715i sounded a little tiny and weak compared it to the Sony RDP-XF100IP !
But still I can say that the Logitech s715i sounds better than any portable speaker it's size that I have ever heard ! As far as the Logitech s715i goes I would never buy that unit because when it is ran by battery power it cuts the bass in half and it also cuts the volume down, to me that is a deal breaker, but if the Logitech s715i gave me a choice to turn off the battery saver mode, I would buy it in a heartbeat !
I hate the fact that when you run some units by battery they automatically go into battery saver mode and then they cut the bass and volume way down "Harman Kardon's Go + Play" does the same thing and I hate it !
I used my mp3 player, playing the same songs, when I compared the Sony RDP-XF100IP sound to the Bose, I noticed at first that the Sony,s mid-range sounded a little colored, you might say a little dark or bass heavy, while the Bose sounded perfect. After I adjusted my mp3 player and removed some of the bass, the Sony sounded almost as good as the Bose, and with some songs just as good if not better. But I must say over all I think the Bose sounded just a little bit better !
But for half the price I think Sony did a really good job!
I also compared the over all volume of each speaker !
This is where Bose beats the Sony hands down !!!!
When I was indoors the Sony played reasonably loud but when I went outdoors around a lot of traffic, and playing the Sony at "Full Volume", the Sony got drowned out!!!
For some reason the Sony can't play really loud !
On the other hand the Bose can scream,I have taken my Bose around heavy traffic many times with no problem what so ever!
Matter of fact the Bose gets so loud until I'm afraid I might get in trouble for disturbing the peace !
If 10 was the loudest volume the Bose could play at , I would say in comparison, the Sony plays at about 6 1/2 to 7 !
Now lets talk about the Rechargeable lithium-ion Battery's !
The Sony comes with a very small Battery that fits inside of the unit, on the other hand the Bose has a very large Battery that fits on the back of the unit!
The Sony battery lasted less than 2 hours while playing at a high volume for the Sony !
On the other hand I have played the Bose for 5 and six hours "with battery power left over" at a louder volume than I played the Sony at for less than 2 hours!!!!
The Bose battery is far superior to the Sony's !!!!!!
The comparatively low volume and the weak battery life of the Sony was a deal breaker for me, so I returned the Sony !
But if you can put up with the volume of the Sony and the weak battery life you could save $200 !
You have to decide for yourself !
Now lets talk about the Bose a little more , I have owned the Bose SoundDock Portable for about a year now and it is without a doubt the best sounding portable speaker for it's size !!!!! There are a few larger portable speakers that sound a little bit better than the Bose when ran by AC ! To name a few that may sound a little better, Harman Kardon's Go + Play, Kicker iK501, Altec Lansing iMT800, Bowers & Wilkins'Zeppelin, iPod Hi-Fi, Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 !
What do all of those speakers have in common? They are all much larger than the Bose, about twice as large!!!! None of them run on a long lasting Rechargeable lithium-ion Battery like the Bose does !
Bottom line is Bose is the Best "Pound per Pound" battery powered portable speaker system for it's size !!!! I have the Harman Kardon's Go + Play, I had the Altec Lansing inMotion iM7,the Sony RDP-XF100IP, plus I have many others and I can't find a small "around 5.2 pounds" speaker system for any price that beats the Bose !!!
I don't want to carry around a unit that is larger or heaver than the Bose SoundDock Portable, so if you think you know of a "Better" Battery Powered Portable Speaker System that weighs around the same or less than the Bose with the battery included, please let me know, I don't think one exists at this time ! - Ipod Dock - Ipod Speakers - Iphone Dock - Iphone Speakers'

Wireless Pointer - laser pointer, presenter
I've used both this version and the previous version of this device and have found a few significant changes.
First, the laser button also puts Powerpoint into presentation mode, a feature absent on the previous model. However, rather than presenting the current screen in presentation mode, it goes to the first page of the presentation. I could see this being a disadvantage if you want to use your laser pointer while being in the normal view mode. However, others had previous complained that there was not a way of automatically going back into presentation mode if you accidentally exit out of presentation when you're on the last slide -- something that this feature really doesn't fix.
The USB transmitter that plugs into the computer is nearly half the size in the new version, which is nice, given the bulky size of the previous version.
The device now runs on AAA batteries instead of a smaller, disc-type battery. This is nice, since you had to go to a store to pick up replacement batteries for the old version.
The new device is also slightly heavier, but not significantly so.
Otherwise, the device seems the same (color, texture are slightly different) Kensington 33374 Wireless Presenter with Laser Pointer
I love the Kensington presenters. The best aspect of them is the simplicity. If I am running a conference, I can just hand it to speakers (academics mainly) and they can use it right away. So having a new version taking AA batteries was very exciting. It's not that the old disk batteries were that bad: I just never had a small screwdriver to get to them!
This new version has some improvements: the USB thingy now stays in its holder better, so it doesn't fall out in my backpack. The overall feel of the presenter is good. But I need to find a small screwdriver, put in a new disk battery, go back to my old presenter and give this one to someone else. As others have noted, pushing the laser has the side effect of sending an F5 to the system. No problem if in powerpoint, but for any other program, this leads to all sorts of weird behavior. For instance, when I switch from powerpoint to illustrate something in Excel and press the laser, up pops a "Go to" window. Confusing and annoying to all concerned.
The advantage of being able to start a powerpoint presentation (which is what F5 does in powerpoint) is vastly outweighed by the inability to use the laser pointer with any other software.
I've compared about 5 or 6 presenters in actual use for a corporate application. All work well and get the job done. This one worked flawlessly -- plugs in, recognized by pc, and buttons are working immediately. The functionality is limited to 4 buttons though and a laser, which is fine for basic needs. If that's all you need (forward, back, stop, laser), then this is a good choice. I prefer the Logitech for the added convenience of having a volume control and timer, but if those features aren't important, this is an equally good unit.
I bought this item on Amazon several months ago (as an awesome lightning deal nonetheless) and I've been able to use it and test it. I own and primarily use a MacBook Pro (now 1 generation old) running OS X 10.5 Leopard so my main concern in purchasing this item was its compatibility with the Mac OS and IWork '08 version of PowerPoint (namely Keynote). I am happy to say that the item seems to function without any trouble with Keynote! For various reasons, I also run Microsoft Office 2008 Mac - and I'm happy to report that the device also functions with Powerpoint. Perhaps the best thing of all with this wireless presenter is that there is no software to install. Note to Mac users - when you put the receiver into the USB port OS X will prompt you with a wizard thinking that the receiver is actually a keyboard - just close the dialog, no harm no foul. Overall, a great buy, highly recommended!
The Kensington wireless remote with laser pointer works exactly as advertised. Put the USB receiver into a PC's USB port, give it a few seconds to be recognized (we tested this with Windows XP SP2), fire up a PowerPoint presentation (we use PowerPoint 2003), and the buttons move the presentation forward, backward, or hide it. We had no problem using it from the back of our lunchroom, about 50' to the laptop.
Caveat: putting the receiver back in the main unit turns it off, which is good, unless someone wants to use just the laser pointer. The receiver is very small and could get lost easily (even if someone puts it in a pocket, it would be easy to forget). If you pop out the receiver slightly but leave it in the unit, the laser is on but the receiver won't get lost.
The Kensington pointer is half the price of competing units but better designed and functions better than others. The case is sturdy, has a no-slip outer coating, has a comfortable feel in the hand, and even includes a trench that serves as a holder for the receiver when not in use. Placing the receiver in this trench automatically disconnects the laser so that batteries do not have to be removed to prevent the laser turning on when the unit is packed for a trip or placed in one's pocket. And the advance and go-back buttons function all of the time, not just most of the time! The only thing holding this from being a 5 star item is the weak laser pointer. I would be happy to pay an extra $20-$30 dollars to have this same pointer with a bright green laser. Nevertheless, a very well designed, functional unit. - Powerpoint - Laser Pointer - Presenter - Remote'

Shredder Lubricant - shredder lubricant, shredder
We only buy Fellowes shredders and have found them very reliable. I originally purchased the oil for the cutters directly from Fellowes a couple of years ago; the bottle was smaller and more expensive at the time. I was quite pleased to find this product available from Amazon at a good price and larger bottle.
I think a lot of people buy a shredder, not knowing that it does need some maintenance to keep it in top shape. Besides not overloading your shredder's capabilities or shredding material that you shouldn't, the next best thing you can do to protect your investment is to regularly lubricate the cutters. This reduces wear, noise, and can prevent the teeth from breaking.
Be sure to read the instructions for your particular shredder, however, about the type of oil to use and the frequency. You may be tempted to use other types of oil you already have around your house or WD-40 or something, but many of those things are flammable and will only serve to damage your shredder or worse.
As another reviewer said, be careful when cutting the tip on the bottle because if you make it too big, the oil will be harder to control. Fellowes Shredder Oil, 12 oz. Bottle with Extension Nozzle (35250)
This is a just a quick review to let you know about Fellowes (and other shredder branded oils) versus your standard kitchen vegetable oil.
Remember that vegetable oils go rancid quickly; they're meant for eating and not industrial lubrication on a regular basis. The use vegetable oil trick is actually intended for people who use their shredders OFTEN, not OCCASIONALLY. I have a giant bottle of canola oil at the office for the big shredder, I use the branded oil at home. The amount of shredding most offices do is enough to warrant using vegetable oil since more than likely by the end of of a typical maintenance cycle, the oil is long gone from the blades and feeding mechanism.
Do not use olive oil, corn oil, cottonseed, peanut, palm, or ANY vegetable oil with an odor. Unless you want your shredder smelling like food, stay away from any vegetable oil with a distinct odor. Canola oil is the best substitute for branded oil. Also look for lower grade canola cooking oil, the ones you often find in thrift stores or 99 cent stores. It should look more "watery" than viscous.
If you think Fellowes is taking you for a ride in selling shredder oil, think again. It's like someone mixing food coloring and water to make "ink" for their printer. Sure the price is way more than it should be, but that also doesn't make the home alternative absolutely correct all the time. Use the Fellowes oil if you shred papers ocasionally and pretty much find yourself oiling once in two weeks. One 12 ounce bottle should last you QUITE a long time. If you're in a heavy office or shredding daily, then go for the canola oil alternative. The last thing you want is to have sticky, smelly blades that have rancid vegetable oils on them.
Fellowes oil has no odor and is quite "watery". If I could buy this stuff cheap in the gallons, I would for all my shredders. Vegetable oils have the caveats I mentioned above, but they DO work if you're in a pinch or trying to save some money.
As a side note, always use shredder bags when possible. They save you from dealing with the "dust" that shredders create. And yes, you can use generic 4-11 gallon trash bags instead of "shredder" bags! That's ok.
I have a Staples 15-sheet shredder for which I purchased the Fellowes lubricant oil. After a single thorough application, the shredder gradually returned to its optimum performance. I used the generic office store brand oil before, and it seems that Fellowes lubricant delivers a difference you can hear.
I spoke with Fellowes, they say it's OK to use regular cooking vegetable oil (canola, etc.) in their machines, but only temporarily, not in the long run, because regular vegetable oil may become sticky and start smelling rancid. I'll stick with the dedicated oil and give it just 4 stars since there exists an alternative. I will, however, give Fellowes 5 stars for their candor. Also, as others have pointed out, be careful not to cut too big a chunk of the dispenser nozzle's tip, so you won't waste oil when oiling your machine.
This is the best priced shredder lubricant out there and it's from a shredder manufacturing company. Though there are other options to lubricate your shredder (such as lubricated paper), there is no substitute for the real thing. All you do is pour this directly onto your shredder and it will keep the blades from rusting and losing it's edge. Recommended for any shredder (not just confetti-cut as it is being advertised as)
My wife and I shred just about everything, but you only need a few drops each time you change the bag. If I am still alive when this bottle is empty, then I will consider myself lucky. Maybe we can put it in the will for our grandchildren someday. - Fellowes - Shredder Lubricant - Shredder - Cross Cut Shredder'

Vitesses 1.7L (7-Cup) Electric Kettle - electric tea kettle, electric water kettle
I spent hours researching every electric kettle available (and looking at them in person, in stores) before settling on this one. I've owned it for about 6 months now, and it's been great. The concealed heating element and the simple one-piece plastic jug design make it very easy to clean (not that I've needed to) and leak resistant (I assume, from a design perspective, since mine has no leaks yet). The only way it could leak is if the grommet sealing the metal bottom piece to the plastic jug developed a leak, whereas most of the stainless steel kettles being sold have several parts, many seams, and thus many places a leak could develop. There is some mild browning of the plastic inside the jug, I suppose a reaction to the high heat. This same thing happened with my roommate's older plastic electric kettle, so it's to be expected. People complain about plastic vs. stainless steel, I settled on plastic for one primary reason: it is a better insulator, so not only will it keep the water hotter for longer, it will be safer to handle in general (ie. it won't burn you or a child if it is accidentally picked up by its sides while it contains hot water). People complain about plastic "leeching chemicals" into the water, I haven't noticed any difference in taste, personally, and I doubt stainless steel would be much "safer" than plastic in this respect. The switch works great, and mine has never spilled water or over-boiled it (as long as it contains the minimum recommended amount of water). The spout and handle shapes make it easy to pour, and the locking top makes it pretty tough to spill. Definitely recommended, I'm buying another one for my parents right now.
PS - While researching electric kettles, I frequently saw complaints of how kettles designed for use in the USA don't heat water as fast as those in the UK. This is for a very simple reason: UK uses 240 volt power, USA uses 120 volts. Most electrical receptacles are rated for 15 amps (though the kitchen are often has at least two 20-amp circuits, per NEC recommendations). Watts = volts * amps, which means that UK kettles can get up to 240 volts * 15 amps = 3600 watts, while USA kettles can get up to 120 volts * 15 amps = 1800 watts. Manufacturers might sometimes avoid approaching this limit, perhaps due to safety or liability issues? Just note that this 1750 watt Tfal kettle is very close to the typical USA receptacle wattage rating. It's just about as high as you'll be able to get in the USA...most other USA electric kettles only go up to 1500 watts.
I got more than I expected. Which is good, because it seemed over priced when I bought it. But it was the only one I could find with a truly variable temp control. Now, I think the price was fair.
Pro's
- Variable temprature: This is why I picked this product. I wanted full control of the temp of the water.
- Filtered spout: I don't use it. Could be useful for keeping tea or any other particles in the pot while pouring.
- Dock station: The pot is easily removed from doc, so there is no cord in the way when pouring.
- Hidden Cord: Cord winds up inside the dock. Makes it easy to hide extra cord, if you have that luxury. See Cons :(.
- Insulated: Keeps water hot for a long time.
- Auto off: Turns of when it gets to temperature.
I bought this electric kettle mostly for making coffee in my french press. However, I use it for much more. I never realized how much an electric kettle would help around the house. I now use it for the following... coffee, tea, cocoa, instant oatmeal, ramen, any cooking/baking that calls for boiled water, pre-boiling water for pasta, and even hot water for cleaning around the house.
Pros
-Heats water FAST! (1750 watts, as another poster listed, is just under the 1800 W US limit)
-Keeps the water hot for a good bit of time. (Put it this way, I make coffee, throw it in a thermos, and leave for work. When my wife wakes up 45 minutes later, it's still plenty hot to make instant oatmeal)
-Cordless pouring/filling
-Adjustable temp (drinkable cocoa temp to full boil)
-I haven't experienced any plastic taste that other commenter mentioned, even when allowing the water to cool as he/she mentioned. (Anyone who feels a need to mention their credentials in an online product review is usually over-critical or full of poo... in my humble opinion)
-Viewing window for filling/knowing how much water is left.
-Cheaper than most comparable kettles out there right now.
T-Fal Vitesses 1.7L (7-Cup) Electric Kettle
I spent six months in the UK and when I came back, I immediately had to get an electric kettle since I was so dependent on one when I was in the UK. Unfortunately, it was much more difficult than I expected to find one that looked decent and felt well-constructed. I was sad to discover that the highly-rated Braun kettle was no longer sold in the US. I checked out a number of the other popular kettles at local stores and found some flaw with all of them.
The T-Fal kettle was the one that looked most similar to the kettles they sell in the UK. I have used the kettle for a few days now and am extremely pleased with its performance. It boils a liter of water in about 4 minutes. The temperature knob is really useful since you're not supposed to use boiling water for more delicate teas.

Cd Radio Player - cd radio player, gift idea
This is a very nice cd player for the price (I paid $24.99 from Amazon). I got it for my husband so he could listen to his CDs while he was working in the garage or outside or while he was doing his exercises. It works very well, the sound is rich and full for a little, inexpensive player and doesn't sound tinny at all. It is easy to use and is not big and bulky - very portable. Since it was so inexpensive, it doesn't even matter if he manages to scratch it up or drop a tool on it or something.
Also, it is a nice shape - not like those strangely shaped round cd players that look like bug's heads and the speakers look like bug's eyes!
As an added benefit, it has a port to plug in your MP3 player so you can listen to music or audio books you have on your MP3 player as well.
Also, it comes with a remote control which I didn't see mentioned in the description at Amazon. All in all, a nice cd player at a very nice price! It was so nice, I ordered one for myself as well! GPX Portable CD Player with AM/FM Radio, Line in for MP3 Devices and Remote Control (Black)
We bought this for our daughter's 4th birthday. She LOVES it. She has her own radio, and uses it nightly to fall asleep to music. We've burned a variety of CD's for her, and she thinks she's sooooo cool picking out her own music and taking the radio with her to different rooms in the house to play music. The sound quality is acceptable - to be expected - we didn't buy this with audiophile interests in mind. It's inexpensive, VERY simple to use, and the battery life is good. Our daughter had the CD functions figured out after about three days with no instruction from us. The styling is pretty nice - kind of simple and clean. It doesn't look like some transformer-toy looking boom-box, and takes up very little counter space. Great for listening to CD's at low-volume levels (office environments). The tuner is OK.
I bought this to listen to audio books in bed, and for this purpose it is just right. I'm hard of hearing, so the quality must be a little better than reasonably good or I can't understand what is being said. The sound quality is perfectly adequate for a spoken word recording. I don't know how it is for music.
There are no frills for the CD player, which is another plus for my purpose. It's easy for me to turn off without having to turn on a light or even sit up. I can just reach over to press the play/stop button, which I can distinguish by touch, and turn off the power using the switch on the side (also easy to distinguish by touch).
It looks pretty decent on the headboard shelf too. I'm pleased to have found what I need for such a low price.
I ordered this player to use with my MP3 player while I am on my computer. I don't use headphones because I want to be able to hear other things happening around me. My only disappointment is the remote control. It only controls the CD functions - prog, repeat, play/pause, skip, and stop. Everything else has to be done on the unit itself. Overall, this is a great player for the money. I am very happy with this purchase.
The first unit I received was defective. If anyone has a problem with buying on line, Amazon.com makes the buying and return process easy and fool proof. I returned the unit with no cost to me for shipping and ordered a new GPX CD, AM/FM player/radio. This GPX unit works to my complete satisfaction.
This item has been ok. Easy enough to use. The CD player plays for awhile then starts to skip or gets hung up on me repeatedly regardless of which CD I am playing. This has been a hassle. I like the slim design.
First, I want to note that this is a super CD player for the price as far as sound quality and design(we put it in a kitchen with black and white kitchen with stainless steel accents). But there is one MAJOR problem if you don't plan to use batteries - the cord falls out of the back of the player very easily. If you want to scoot or move it even a tiny bit on a counter or table, the cord is going to fall out. Count on it. If you use batteries, you get around this problem but who wants to be limited to ONLY batteries? If you run out of batteries and are somewhere with electricity, it is nice to have a player that has a reliable cord. I rated everything high on this one except the ease of use because that cord issue is so annoying.
Also, the remote control is VERY tiny and could be easily lost. We keep ours in a nearby drawer.
Now for the PROS:
1. I haven't found a player that has the same sound quality for the price.
2. It looks very sleek and has a nice, clean look. It could fit in both modern and retro designed rooms. I can't quite picture it with country decor, though.
3. It is light and portable. But either have battery backup or put it somewhere you aren't likely to move it.
4. It can connect to other devices but we haven't tested this out yet so I can't give any feedback about that.
5. Nice features include the ability to skip tracks or keep a song repeating.
6. Equally solid radio station reception, whether AM or FM.
Final analysis? I am basically happy with this CD player and absolutely love the way it complements our kitchen decor. The CDs fit easily into the player. If you can put up with the small remote and annoying cord issue, this could be a best buy! - Cd Player - Cd Radio Player - Boombox - Gift Idea'
