Family Films

Disney's The Lion King is finally available on DVD. Considered the cream of the crop of all the Disney animated features by many, it is definitely worth owning. I don't think I'll go into the story, which I'm sure most of you know. Chances are you've already seen the movie and are just waiting to own it on a piece of media that won't rot like your VHS tape that probably fell apart by now. Even if Disney released a sub par release of this movie, you'd buy it. Luckily, this is one of the best releases ever.Video and Audio is supreme in this release. Especially vibrant is the 5.1 sound. Of all the older Disney releases, this one benefits the most I think, with the powerful music and sound effects present in this release. Hearing James Earl Jones as Mufasa blaring in thunderous 5.1 sound is quite amazing. Likewise the excellent music, such as the opening Circle of Life. Present in this release is the original theatrical version as well as a version with new music/song. I actually didn't care for the new song, but some may. The extras are quite numerous, contained on a second DVD and are mentioned in Amazon's product details...I haven't had the time to go through them yet, so I cannot comment on the extras. I just watched the movie again. To be honest, the movie would be worth it as a single disc release so I'm happy as it is.Some interesting trivia for some of the people who are not aware of it is that The Lion King seemed to be heavily "influenced" by an old Japanese anime, Kimba The White Lion. Those wishing to see the "similarities" would do well to check out that series as it has also been released on DVD. Carbon copying aside, I do love the Lion King. It still manages to grab you whether you are 4 years old or 40. Two thumbs up!! The Lion King (Four-Disc Diamond Edition Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy)

After the movie Little Mermaid came out, Disney would make 3 other animated masterpieces: Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King, that would change the way we looked at animated films, somthing new, something wonderful. But of all these 4 great animated films, in my opinion The Lion King was the greatest. The music was just, beautiful, and Scar was probably the most EVIL Disney villain the was ever drawn on a piece of paper. You hated him, but you almost liked him, because he was so great. But probably the best part of the movie was Simba's pal's Pumbaa and Timon, the BEST Disney characters EVER!!! The scene where Timon was doing the hula, I thought I was going to die from laughing. Anybody from toddler to 10 year old to 60 year from boy to old woman to teenager and so forth will, without a doubt, LOVE this movie, everyone.

I am a great fan and admirer of Disney animation. As a child, I would watch the movies of the new generation (starting with The Little Mermaid) religiously and enjoy the songs and characters. As an adult, I appreciate them even more for their moving storylines and deep meanings.

To preserve these movies in my collection, I re-purchased certain limited edition DVD's even though I already had all of them on VHS. The Lion King was no exception. However, I am a bit disappointed with this DVD release of the movie...

Several viewers have pointed this out before, but I was really surprised when seeing it for myself: when The Lion King was released to IMAX theatres a couple of years ago, the animators decided to "enhance" the film experience, partly because the film's dimensions would now have to accomodate a larger format screen. What started out as a few color touch-ups and brush-ups ended up being a RE-ANIMATION of some of the scenes. If you are a huge fan or serious collector of Disney memorabilia, you might be interested to know about a few of these changes.

Let's start with the opening castle logo: it used to be blue/white, and now it's black/orange. I understand Disney trying to match the color scheme of this movie, but I feel like it took away from the traditional openings that we have loved all those years!

What about the "Just Can't Wait to be King" sequence? The CROCODILES with the birds in their mouths have completely been redrawn! This may sound trivial, but I never forgot how the original crocs looked; they seemed to have a very unique flare to them and stood out. When I saw the ugly green things with the deformed noses they put in now, I was taken aback.

But that's not all...Watch the "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" sequence. In the scene where Nala and Simba are climbing down to the waterfalls, the entire background is now completely different! Everything from the waterfalls, to the rock, to the colors is re-animated.

The part where Mufasa re-appears in the clouds has been slightly altered though that's not as butchered as the other parts I just mentioned. When Simba falls down in despair and blows away the petals and moss in the wind, they fly to Rafiki. The movement and patterns of that have been re-drawn as well.

Supposedly, the Disney team thought these changes would make the IMAX experience better. And at least they promised us the original theatrical version on the DVD, so I expected to see the movie I grew up watching. Upon seeing both versions, I found out that their idea of the original theatrical is the same re-animated scenes version minus the "Morning Report" song. So basically everything that you remember about The Lion King is now gone.

I think that when a movie is released and experiences as big of a success as The Lion King did, it goes down in history and should be respectfully preserved. It's one thing to change something for a re-release and call it a "Special Edition" version, but it's another to tamper with the original film in terms of its animation and exclude the first sequences altogether. It's not so much what they changed, but the principle of the thing.

Final thought: the original 1995 film is, at the moment, unavailable. The only way you can see the actual animation is by watching your old VHS tape or laser disc. Both the Special Edition and the Theatrical are the changed versions on this DVD release. If you aren't bothered by these changes, you might enjoy having this DVD set in your collection simply because of its presentation (two discs, dust cover, collectable value). If you are a Disney perfectionist, as many people out there are, there is always a Blu-Ray version in the works that might come out sooner or later now that Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Beauty & the Beast are/have been released.'

Product Management - marketing, business strategy

After founding a leading market research firm and teaching New Product Development at Harvard, I found this book so compelling that our firm has completed a review of our entire new web research product strategy, and come to some startling and highly productive insights on how to proceed and succeed. It is by far the most practical, in-depth guide to achieving competitive new product development strategies I have ever read. The book shows clearly how to answer the critical questions: 1) Where do we want to go, 2) How will we get there, and 3) Why will we be successful. It shows how to create a Core Strategic Vision that is the foundation for new product success. And it shows how to use that vision to create highly competitive and profitable product lines, particularly in high technology.Having tested new product ideas for hundreds of companies over the last 25 years, it is difficult to think of more than a handful who couldn't have benefited from not only reading this book, but doing what it recommends. Product Strategy for High Technology Companies

There are countless strategy books out there. Each one has an overriding framework that the entire book is based on, that often warrants only a 15-page article. This book is loaded with practical frameworks that together provide a thinking and creativity-channeling approach. Better yet, every framework has been proven in practice at dozens of companies by the author's implementation-based consulting firm. Each chapter is filled with examples from a broad range of technology-based companies. When applying these frameworks outside of technology-based industries and large companies just use common sense to strip them down to their essence and don't worry about the fancy techno-speak. You can also use most chapters as stand-alone strategy tools. I personally like "vectors of differentiation" and wonder how so many companies blow it when it seems like common sense. But then again if common sense were common, books like this wouldn't be needed. And then there's the issue of actually implementing what you come up with...

I love this book: the concept of a "vector" for product development is a terrific way to think about competition.IMHO, this book is a must-read for all product managers, product marketers and people involved in strategic decisions,i.e. all senior executives. That said, speaking as a five-time startup engineer, the adviceand examples in this book seem geared towards the core productlines in larger companies, where you can credibly talk about"two years from now" as opposed to wondering if you'll even bein business, which is also the problem for new product lines atlarge companies. The experience for the book comes from thePRTM consulting firm, which was made famous for their work withparallel product development at Intel. We hired them in theearly days at Inktomi, and found mixed success with theirprocess because we were terrified of immediate failure, andthey wanted to talk about version 3. Obviously, there's asuccessful middle ground because Inktomi was a huge success in the short term, but ultimately lost its strategic direction.

In his richly illustrated Product Strategy for High Technology Companies, Michael E. McGrath rightly describes product strategy as a management process. Like any process, product strategy defines structure, timing, responsibilities, and skills. The process architecture reproduced on page 359 provides a practical framework starting with the definition of core strategic vision. Core strategic vision requires answering three questions: 1. Where do we want to go? 2. How will we get there? 3. And most critical Why will we be successful? Core strategic vision determines the criteria used for reaching a strategic balance in the product development process: Focus vs. diversification, short-term vs. long-term, current product platform vs. new product platform, business Alpha vs. business Beta, research vs. development, and high risk vs. low risk. Available resources influence the outlook of strategic balance.Core strategic vision, strategic balance, core competencies, and competitive strategy are together the foundations on which the often-ignored product platform strategy is built. Product platform strategy is the lowest common denominator of relevant technology in a set of products or a product line. Product failures in high-tech companies frequently can be traced to an incomplete product platform strategy according to McGrath. Strategic balance, product platform strategy, and competitive strategy are together the foundations of product line strategy. Product line strategy is where specific product offerings are defined.Core strategic vision also influences the competitive strategy that high technology companies must define. McGrath provides an in-depth, practical review of differentiation strategy, pricing strategy, and supporting strategies. Supporting strategies are first-to-market and fast-follower strategies, cannibalization, and global product strategy. McGrath's examination of both time-based strategies and cannibalization is particularly interesting because both subjects are rarely covered in such a luxury of detail. McGrath finally examines the optional expansion strategy and innovation strategy. High technology companies only need them if they want to invest in expansion or innovation. To summarize, Product Strategy for High Technology Companies is a practical guide to a management process from which even product managers from outside the high tech industry can draw useful lessons and more importantly apply them to their own product strategy.

This is a key book that provides an innovative look at a critical subject. After infinite books on "how" to get products to market, here is a very valuable analysis of "what" to bring to market, how to leverage and extend a company's capability base. Product Strategy will have an enormous impact on the senior managers that read it and on the companies that implement its findings. It is full of useful methodologies and gripping examples, and provides a great balance of strategic vision and operational guidance. - 2007 - Strategy - Business Strategy - Marketing'

I bought this in 2006 and it worked as advertised, taking about 20 charges over 18 months, then it got to the point where it would last only a minute or two and then wouldn't take a charge at all. Shrinky Dink - arts, shrinky dinks

I remembered these from when I was a kid so we got some for ours. These are fun. The color goes on easy and you are free to use a stencil provided or to make your own stuff. If you write something on them small and then shrink them it is like micro printing a special message. When they shrink they get a little thicker and hard so they ring a little when they hit stuff. These make great cell phone charms. Use good markers to color them before shrinking. You can color both sides but it is difficult to match sides. It is cool when they shrink because it starts out so uneven like crinkled paper and in about fifteen seconds after it starts it evens out just right. We used our toaster oven with the pan covered in tin foil. Alex Toys Shrinky Dinks Kit, Jewelry

My 6 yr old daughter really enjoys coloring and making jewelry with shrinky dinks! We like to watch them melt, curl up, shrink and somehow magically turn into tiny pieces of really cute, durable artwork. I like them because they are not messy!

This was another christmas gift for our daughter. She loves arts and crafts. She also is a huge jewelry fan. This kit encompasses both of those things. She really enjoyed coloring the pieces and there were a suprisingly large amount of them. But the best part, of course, is watching them shrink in the oven!! The only downside to the product was the beading string that came with it. It is not very sturdy. I would recommend buying a stronger variety on your own.

My 4 year old and I spent an entire evening making every last bit of jewelry possible. Very fun pieces...and plenty of them. They all cooked and shrank just like they were supposed to. We highly recommend this to all shrinky dink fans!

Got 'em for the 5 year old in the house but I have to tell you they are SO FUN. There is something magical about things shrinking the way these do. They become these awesome hard button like things that look even better shrunk than not shrunk. Another one of those things, that at least with this brand, has not lost its quality in lie of profit. I'm buying the fairy set next then some blank sheets to make necklace items.

(How Being Ill Got Me Arrested)

Bought this for my 4-year-old daughter's birthday. We've pulled it out as an afternoon activity about 10 times, and she LOVES it. She turned some pieces into jewelry, and the rest are just her little "treasures." I've used this as a mother/daughter activity, a "go play by yourself" activity (just the coloring part), and a fun project for her and her friends. I'm a big fan.

I loved these when I was a kid, way back in the 70's. Still so much fun. Anyone who rates these as less than 5 stars is crazy. Fun shapes, easy to color, easy to follow directions. My 5 yr old made them all in 1 day and we had to get more the next weekend. Plus she was quiet for 2 hrs and didn't need or want any help. Awesome product! I would recommend them, the only thng was Alex Toys should have a jumbo pack avaible for parties, schools, etc......

I loved this as a child in the 1970's. I decided to buy them for my 9yr old niece this Christmas. She loved them just as much as I did in my childhood. Just goes to show you good creative toys still rule!

My 7 year old daughter loves this kit. I love that the patterns are already outlined and cut out, so all she has to do is color them in with the pencils included, and they turn out really cute. For the price, you can't beat it for keeping little girls occupied and having fun - there are plenty of pieces. My daughter has spent more time playing with this than virtually any other gift she got this Christmas! Highly recommended. - Shrinky Dinks - Crafts - Arts - Kid Crafts'

Carbon Monoxide Detector - carbon monoxide detectors, 2009 amazon frustration-fre

The manual is at http://www.firstalert.com/pdfs/2007/06/08/m08-0152-002e_co600_web.pdf

The product is simple and easy to install - just plug it in.

DO NOT LOCATE THIS CO ALARM:

* In garages, kitchens, furnace rooms, or in any extremely dusty,

dirty or greasy areas.

* Closer than 15 feet (4.6 meters) from a furnace or other fuel

burning heat source, or fuel burning appliances like a water heater.

* Within 5 feet (1.5 meters) of any cooking appliance.

* In extremely humid areas. This Alarm should be at least 10 feet (3

meters) from a bath or shower, sauna, humidifier, vaporizer, dishwasher,

laundry room, utility room or other source of high humidity.

* In areas where temperature is colder than 40° F (4° C) or hotter

than 100° F (38° C). These areas include non-airconditioned crawl

spaces, unfinished attics, uninsulated or poorly insulated ceilings,

porches, and garages.

* In turbulent air, like near ceiling fans, heat vents, air conditioners,

fresh air returns, or open windows. Blowing air may prevent CO

from reaching the sensors.

* In direct sunlight.

* In outlets covered by curtains or other obstruction. First Alert CO600 Plug In Carbon Monoxide Alarm

I chose this alarm because it was the easiest to use. Just plug it in and that's it. I have a gas fireplace and was told that I needed a carbon monoxide detector. Plugged into a regular outlet, it has a dim light to let you know that it's working and you can test the monitor at any time to make sure it's "alarmed." Hopefully, I'll never have to see how well the monitor works in an emergency but I feel safer knowing that I have one.

I purchased this for my Mom, who has a very low tolerance for any type of electronics that has more than one button. This fits the bill perfectly -- just plug it in, and it works. Other models have more advanced features, such as a digitial display or a batter backup, but if you're looking for simplicity and a low cost, this is a great choice.

I just ordered this item for a rental unit and was informed by my property manager that this specific model does NOT comply with Colorado law, which requires plug-in units to have a battery back-up. If you are ordering in this to comply with new state regulations, make sure you are buying the right model. I've asked Amazon to note it on the website, but thought I'd just alert everyone in the mean time.

This product works as advertised. It is simplicity itself to install, and does not cover up all outlets when plugged in. This indicated to me that some thought went into its design. I purchased 2 units, and both are working perfectly.

I feel that these are a necessity especially if you live in colder winter climates where you may have the windows closed for a few months.

I prefer this model as it plugs in to an outlet rather than battery operated units.

I found the models through Amazaon were several dollars cheaper than stores around my area.

I bought this first alert CO alarm for my home in Wisconsin.

When I started to read the instructions I found that this product is not UL list! How can a safety item like this not be UL listed.

I did some research and found out first alert changed testing labs to save a few bucks and do not use the most well known UL. What's up with that...

So I returned this CO and purchased the Kidde KN-COB-DP-H Plug-In Carbon Monoxide Alarm. The Kidde unit cost less too, so I saved a few dollars! Always pays to READ THE FINE PRINT.

This is a wonderful product, it works as the manufacturer said it would. It was easy to install, and gives peace of mind where the threat of carbon monoxide is concerned. Like any other product of this sort, there is a minimum amount of maintenance weekly to make sure the unit is operating properly. I have had other carbon monoxide detectors, but this unit is by far the best. I give it five stars, and would give it more if possible.

This is the third different model of First Alert Carbon Monoxide Detector which I have purchased. I have never bought anything but First Alert Detectors over the several years I have owned my homes. There has never been a problem with any of them.

I chose to purchase the plug-in model since I only have an oil burner which could produce carbon monoxide. I figured that if the power was out, the oil burner would automatically be out as well. Since I do not have a wood stove or other heating or cooking source of monoxide which may operate without electricity, I did not feel I would need the battery back-up feature.

The only factor which should be reviewed prior to purchasing this model is the status of any state or local ordinance for monoxide detectors. I have noticed that certain states/cities require a battery back-up model in every case. I did see that First Alert offers this model for about $8.00 more.

Well, don't know if it would have worked, but not having CO around is good, right! After not quite four years of sitting on the wall, it started warning beeps out of nowhere, when there wasn't a possible source of CO around. Tested it on a few different walls and in another building and it still beeped, so its apparently malfunctioning.

I guess it got bored after four years. I hope it was working properly all this time. - Carbon Monoxide Detectors - Alarms - 2009 Amazon Frustration-fre - Co Detector'

Best Fishing Line

This line is excellent--and I have seen and heard others complain about bird nesting and losing lures--99% of those issues are user error! You have to be careful spooling your line--keep a steady amount of pressure on the line and keep the pressure point at at least the 1st eye of your rod away while spooling. As for losing lures, almost everyone I know who used braided line loses a few--because we don't tie braided line knots and this stuff will un-knot itself in 1 or 2 casts--and that again is our fault, not the line.

It may take a little more care to prep te line on your reels, but it is well worth it if you fish in and around a lot of structure. I fish for big bass with ultra-light tackle and generally the reel or the rod gives out before this line on those fish.

Read the directions carefully, spool you r line with consistency and learn some new knots and you will have no trouble with any of the issues people are listing on here. Spiderwire Stealth Braid 300-Yard Spool (Moss Green, Pound/Diameter 30/8)

Used properly, this line really performs well. If you are using a coffee grinder, make sure you dont overfill the spool and make it a point to slightly "underfill" it. I have also got into the habit of pulling the line tight with my free hand after I close my bail to avoid knots in the spool. I have found that what most people call "wind knots" start as a loop in the spool when the line goes slack after a completed cast. The only time I have had knots just appear in this line is when I overfill or completely fill the spool.

I bought this line a few weeks ago and was amazed at how easily i felt fish bite and it has worked just great, cast really well!!I did get knots but realised i didn't spool correctly once i redid it had no problems would recommend it anytime.

I've been using this stuff for a couple of years now and am very happy with how well it works. I've used several other types of line and looked at a couple of different braids, I think this is the best. Had to learn some new knots since what works well in mono doesn't necessarily work well braided. San Diego jam knot seems to work well for me. Had one problem where the line was slipping on the reel. Seemed like the drag wouldn't tighten up and I was able to pull line off of the reel without much resistance. A little black tape on my arbor knot and all was well. And just in case you care it's made right here in the USA. Something I wish Amazon would declare on the stuff they sell.'

Black And White - klipsch image s4, earbuds

CNET recently released their top 5 choices for best earbuds under $100 and so I figured since I already had the V-Moda Vibes (in need of replacing... the 4th broken pair of em) I would buy two other pairs (Klipsch IMAGE S4 In-Ear Enhanced Bass Noise-Isolating Headphone,Ultimate Ears SuperFi 3 Studio Noise Isolating Earphones (Black))and compare the three. CNET had the S4's at the top and after two weeks of solid use I couldn't agree more. Klipsch's buds seem to trump the other two in every way. The S4's cord doesn't conduct sound from rubbing like the Vibes, and isn't perma-kinked like the Ultimate Ears. The S4's are as stylish as the Vibe's though seem to be almost as durable as the rugged Ultimate Ears buds. As far as the sound goes the S4's have slightly tighter bass than the bass heavy (which I like) Vibes and more crisp highs than the Ultimate Ears. So here's the break down in my opinion.

Durability 9 Klipsch IMAGE S4-WH In-Ear Enhanced Bass and Noise-Isolating Headphone (White)

For starters I'm going to address several key observations that need to be considered when looking at the Klipsch IMAGE S4 earphones and then tackle my "listening experience".

First: These earphones, from my experience, are possibly one of the best values in electronics today. Not just IEM, not just headphones...all electronics. Does that mean they are THE BEST in ear monitors on the market? No. But they are very, very, very good overall and outstanding once price is factored in. Based just on sound quality, comfort and features, the S4 is a 4 star item...based on that and price it's more than a 5 star. I keep seeing reviews where people are saying these are overrated because they don't stack up against model x, y, z and when you check prices on x, y, z they are four and five times the price of these. Would you expect a $20,000 car to stack up against an $80,000 car? No. But if you found a $20,000 car that stacked up against a $50,000 or $60,000 car you'd be thrilled, right? That's the S4, which is easily the best in ear monitor for under $200. That said, there are a multitude of personal preferences when it comes to earphones and the S4 may or may not meet those preferences as I will discuss later.

Second: Do NOT send these back or be upset with the sound of the S4 if you have not done burn in. For those not familiar with what this is, it means playing music through the earphones at approximately 25% to 50% above your normal listening volume (not while you are listening to them of course) for anywhere from 50 to 80 hours BEFORE using them normally. With dynamic earphones like these it is even more important and the S4 in particular seems to require it; out of the box, my pair sounded tinny with no bass and I was pretty annoyed by that (as have been some others in reviews on this site). However, after doing just 50 hours of burn in, they sound incredible.

Third: Fit will be a problem for some and even those its not a problem for due to size issues, it will be a problem because you have wear these differently than other "normal" earphones. The included eargels are, in my opinion, overly small. Even the large eargel seems a tad undersized and the small double flange and small normal (which seems more like a medium) just fall out. It's not like I have huge ears either as with most earphones there is usually an included size that is too big for me so, while I am able to get a seal with the large, I find it disconcerting that I feel like it might fall out. I attribute this to the patented design and the fact that they need to be inserted not straight in like normal earbuds, but at an upward angle; I am going to order the large double flanged eargels from Klipsch in the future in the hope it will help lock them in, but I am a little frustrated that I have to pony up another $13; they really should have included another $5 or $10 in eargels like they do on their Custom 2.

Listening Impressions:

The S4 is incredibly balanced, which seems to both win it fans and alienate others as it doesn't bias any one aspect of the listening experience; it reproduces the mix of the music as it was done in the studio. If you like large amounts of artificial bass, the S4 is NOT for you as its about realistic reproduction which means, if the track wasn't mixed with a lot of bass or doesn't have any, you won't hear any. Otherwise, if bass is part of the track mix it is plenty powerful.

Instrument definition is outstanding; you can hear the separate percussion instruments and multiple guitar lines. When someone slides their finger up a chord or a singer inhales before a high note, you can hear it. I'm amazed but what I am hearing in my music that I never knew was there before-entire parts and nuances to songs were totally missing with other headphones. Plus, you can HEAR quiet parts...especially at the ends of songs as they fade out. Some reviews speak to the harshness of the upper range with these...but I don't hear it. Maybe I'm just not attuned to that as much, but all I know is that nothing about the music I hear coming out of S4 is "harsh" in any way shape or form.

I listen to a wide variety of music: Classical (Mozart), Jazz (Pat Metheny), Bluegrass and Country (Alison Kraus, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, etc), Classic Rock (Eagles, U2, Boston), Rock (Nickelback, Vertical Horizon, 3 Doors Down, Daughtry) so I can speak to what the S4 is able to do across multiple spectrums of music. While it shines across the board, I feel the S4 is at its best (insofar as sounding MUCH better than the competition) on more complex music. I listened to Tim McGraw's Southern Voice album and Brad Paisley's American Saturday Night album back to back with Nickelback's All the Right Reasons album and Daughtry's Leave this Town album and with the former two, the detailed and intricate instrumentation jumps out of the S4 into your ears in a way I've never heard before. With the latter two, the sound quality is certainly better than others I've listened to...but its not like the "hearing the music for the first time" of the other albums because the musical arrangements are pretty simple and singular (just a lot of guitar, drums and bass all smashed together).

Finally, for a few final recommendations if you choose to purchase the S4:

The tin they come in is a little goofy. If you really want to fit the earphones in it, you have to pull out the padding that is inside or you will crush them. It's compact and its sturdy (more so than an unreinforced zippered case would be) so that is excellent, but its like they needed to make it bigger but didn't out of fear that it would be too bulky.

There have been a multitude of comments about the wires on these in that they seem thin. I agree...they seem a little thin; emphasis on little. Its not like they are the size of fishing line--they're just not fat. I will say this though...the wires, while thin, seem very sturdy. They don't bend in your hand like other lower tier wires do so I don't think breakage will be an issue if you treat them well (as you should if you are paying this much for earphones). Plus the wires are long enough without being too long so that they get tangled in everything. One last thing with the wires: they are really tightly wound in the package and, due to the sturdy material they are made of, they take awhile to naturally straighten out. I would advise you hang them from a safe place at night for a week to hasten that process along.

Finally, though this is not directly related to the earphones themselves, I feel the need to throw out some advice with regards to music quality and the S4. The S4 was specifically engineered for compressed music and it works well with it (whereas higher end phones like even the Klipsch Custom 2 make compressed music loss more evident)...BUT: please, PLEASE, if you have large amounts of music compressed BELOW 160 MP3 or 128 AAC, don't buy these-you are wasting your money. You will not be able to experience the fullness these provide with compressions that high and, in some cases, I found the S4 picked up artifacts in highly compressed music that ruined the listening experience. I had a lot of compressions in my music collection, but when I go these, I re ripped everything I had on CD to 196 AAC with VBR and it's a HUGE difference over 128 MP3 (and a pretty good difference over 128 AAC). I still have a mix of 128 AAC, 160 MP3...but the collection is 80% 196 AAC.

In the end, if you are primarily a compressed music listener (MP3, M4A player, iPod etc) who wants more clarity and definition in your music and you have (or can have) less compressed music files, then the Klipsch IMAGE S4 is, bar none, the best value in ear (and possibly the best value in any headphone) phone on the market today. I would recommend it above ANY other currently retailing under $200 today. - Earbuds - Klipsch Image S4 - In-ear - Earphones'

Christianity - hero, nails

I am not one to put down any one or any company but why would I look at this product twice when I can get the same size Plain Shank Full Head Framing Nail in a 4000 pack at Lowes for $30.00. That's over 3000 extra nails for the same price. It will be interesting to see if this review shows up. I have used this brand and see no difference then other brands for less money such as Grip Rite. I have looked at the (review guidelines) I do not own stock in any home building supply company but I would like to see my fellow tool users get the most value for there money. Price, quantity and quality go hand and hand with any product. My name is Scott I am a tool addict. Thanks for letting me share.

ADDED 5-4-2011.. Good nails but shop for the better price. DON'T BOTHER WITH HOME D. CHECK LOWES EVERYDAY PRICES B & C Eagle A312X131/22 Round Head 3-1/2-Inch by .131-Inch by 20 to 22 Degree Plastic Collated Framing Nail (500 per Box)

If you have a Porter Cable FR350, for some reason finding nails can be a slight problem. The mega home store with the orange sign has them, but not consistently. So these are a good stop-gap until you can find more. They drive well and seem to hold well.

If you are looking for the highest quality nails for your nails gun then you better get these. I have used these forever and they have performed to the highest extent the whole time. They have never jammed or messed up my guns. These are top of the line

These may be great nails, but they'll probably jam and misfire with the Porter Cable FR530 nail gun. The FR530 needs plastic-collated nails, not paper-collated like these are. I made the mistake of buying a ... case of paper-collated nails, only to have non-stop problems with them. Only on the Porter Cable website does it mention that the gun uses plastic-collated.

I used these nails in a Porter Cable round head framing nailer. They worked very well and I have not had a single misfire or jam. I can only speak from experience for the Porter Cable nailer, but highly recommend them for this particular nailer.

I would like to see a better match for the gun, and larger quantities at local store prices. The nails have yet to jam; however, the gun stops ALWAYS with about 3 to 5 nails left in gun and I just need to keep adding some more to keep gun going.

These are 16d nails that measure 3.5" ... I used these nails to frame 2x6 walls and to frame the rafters on a 20x 16 garage... these nails never jammed or misfired... have recently ordered more of these nails.. - Hero - Christianity - Nails - Bill'

Hdmi Cables - belkin, hdmi cables

You can't go wrong with a Belkin mini-HDMI cable for five bucks.

Shipping was quick with Amazon Prime. The cable looks sturdy and well built. Worked flawlessly with my Canon HD camcorder. Don't fall into the $50+ HDMI cable trap from stores like best buy or online. That is where they make most money and have huge markups. This one is as good and reliable. These are digital cables, so unlike analog, there is no drastic difference in quality with price, if any.

I am highly satisfied with this product so far. Will update post if this changes later. Belkin AV22303B06 Mini HDMI To HDMI Cable

Great name brand Belkin HDMI cable for $7.50. Works absolutely perfectly with my Canon HD camcorder. One of my pet peaves is the high prices charged for cables in the usual electronic and "discount" stores. How can a cable cost $60? Its just a bunch of wire that comes spooling off a machine at 100 MPH. It should cost pennies to make. At least there is some sanity on Amazon. There were a few cables listed cheaper, but I went with this one because of the brand name and free shipping. Shipping was super fast. You won't be disappointed with this cable.

I got this cable to view HD camcorder video on HDTV. I really wanted a small packable cord since this type of cable is not supposed to be used for permanent installations but for temporary hookup to view video on the go. This cord is built to last though, very large diameter wire and very sturdy. Seems to have been built to last forever. The price was right.

You don't have to pay 25+ dollars to get your hdmi thing going ... this is a very good affordable option, i tested this cable with my 7D on my 52" HiDef LCD tv and it just blows, the image quality displayed from my camera to the TV is just stunning ... you need this if you want to impress your clients when reviewing their images from your camera when working on-location !

Looks good quality, works on Panasonic camcorder sdc-600P, but does not works on canon t1i. I ordered another brand abacus also from amazon, works on both. Don't know why but would like to share here. I have many other cables from belkin, likes them, but have to return this one.

Works as advertised. Worked well with my Canon SX230 HS. Cord seams durable and thick, however, it also makes it slightly difficult to hold your camera while plugged into the TV. But the connections were solid. Doesn't pull away from TV or camera.

An excellent quality, strong and heavy duty cable. This is just like your monster cables but for a fraction of the cost and is Belkin not some no name cable maker or adapter. Would highly recommend, especially for the low price. It fits fine on my EP121 Tablet PC and SONY NEX-5 Camera not too bulky like some say.

I had ordered this cable for hooking my DSLR camera to the HDMI TV. infact i had ordered it 2 days after ordering the DSLR camera, but the cable came before the camera. Thanks to 'TheImagingWorld'. The cable is very sturdy and durable and exactly what i was looking for. The images and video are crystal clear on the TV. All in all a very good product. I would recommend it.

The quality on this cable is great.

It feels thick and at the same time flexible enough to make it bend

easily to suite your installation.

My first impression would be how durable this cable is specially if it

is going to be used a lot where you are constantly plugging and unplugging

the cable which most likely means lots of bending and movement.

I also bought a mini-hdmi to hdmi adapter just in case I wanted something

extra portable and tiny in size.

Rainwear - rainwear, poncho

I bought this poncho and liked that this poncho had draw strings to pull the hood tight. While it was good for the first few uses, it ripped on the side snaps within 4-5 wearings. By the 10th time I wore it it tore a hole in the neck area. So, overall, good at keeping you dry, but not very durable.
