Flash Drives - flash drive, usb flash drives
This is a great little piece of machinery. It's straightforward, functional, and--what can I say?--truly cute. It's one of the teeniest USB flash drives I've ever seen, and for me, that's a good thing. I needed a USB drive that could fit into the back port of my Xbox 360 (the original white Arcade model), and the HP v165w does the trick beautifully. It also works great as a storage device for your computer.
Here's a breakdown of its features:
>> The package
The v165w comes in a thin, minimal-plastic package that looks exactly like the container shown on the product photos. It's basically a plastic holder sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard. Nice to look at, hard to open (just like most electronics packaging). Inside, you get the actual USB drive and a tiny lanyard similar to something you'd find on a cell phone charm. No other instructions or slips of paper are included (not that they're needed).
The back of the packaging lists the following system requirements:
- Windows and Mac compatible
- Operating systems supported:
Windows: 2000, XP, Vista, 7
Mac OS: 10.3 or later. USB 2.0
>> It's tiny!
This is a very small USB drive, which can be good or bad depending on your needs or tendency to lose small things. The entire drive could almost fit on a U.S. quarter, meaning it can go all the places a quarter can: a pocket, a wallet, or underneath the sofa cushion. With the lanyard, you can easily hang it from your cell phone as an ultra-techie decorative charm. It won't crowd your keys, either. If you're a person who needs some on-the-go storage available at all times, this ultra-portable drive won't let you down.
The translucent blue covering is a great color, too. With its sleek, concave styling, it's almost reminiscent of a bite-sized blue Xbox 360, which brings me to my next topic...
>>It plays well with the Xbox
The v165w is one of the few USB drives that actually fits into that secret USB port at the back of most original Xbox 360 models. It also fits quite nicely in the front two ports, if you prefer to use those. It's small enough that it'll fit snugly without sticking out of any of the ports, and yet you can pull it out if need be.
The great news is that it passes Microsoft's performance tests with flying colors. Once I formatted it for my Xbox--a total of 14.5 GB were available--I got the thumbs-up that this USB drive met specifications. Awesome!
Update Nov. 30, 2010:
It seems some people have been having problems with the 4GB version of this USB drive when using it for Xbox data storage. I wanted to come back and say that I have not encountered any problems with my 16GB drive at all. Since this drive is supplementary to an official Xbox hard drive I have on the system, I don't keep any vital data like my profile or current game saves on this 16GB USB. I do, however, save all my videos to it, and I'm able to play back all videos without a hitch. I've also put old game saves and downloadable content on the USB without any issues. My recommendation is to use this drive as a companion to your official Xbox hard drive in order to free up space on your primary HD. Likewise, I suggest keeping the USB connected to the system if you decide to use it that way, so the Xbox continually recognizes it as a data storage device.
Since I haven't tested the other sizes of this USB, I can't accurately review them. But I continue to recommend the 16GB version of this USB drive as supplementary Xbox 360 storage.
>>It plays well with computers
Before commissioning the USB stick for Xbox storage, I tried it out with my computer. I was happy to see that the v165w is a straightforward storage device with no hidden or extraneous software pre-installed. You pop it in, wait a few seconds for your computer to recognize it, then open up the folder to find 15.1 GB of fresh space waiting to be filled. Beautiful.
I'm not a speed maven, so I didn't do any special speed tests with transferring large files and such. I will say that it seemed as quick as other USB drives I've used--maybe even quicker.
The v165w also works perfectly across Windows and Mac platforms. Files saved on one operating system are easily recognized by the other.
>>Things to note
* This USB drive comes with a cap, meaning the cap can be lost or misplaced. It fits very snugly on the drive, though, so it shouldn't come off on its own.
* There are no LED lights or other indicators to let you know the drive is running. This is understandable, because the whole point of the v165w is portability. Still, it's something to keep in mind.
* You get 15.1 GB of computer storage and 14.5 GB of Xbox storage because the Xbox uses up about 500MB for storing settings and other hidden data once it formats the drive.
>>Closing comments
Overall, I love this tiny drive! It's cute, straightforward, and ultra-portable. It works with my computer and my Xbox, and it fits in all the places I need it to fit. Highly recommended for folks who want something small and powerful. I'm still amazed they could pack a whole 16GB (15.1GB, really) onto something so tiny. It's great! HP v165w 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive P-FD16GHP165-EF (Blue)
I wanted a thumb drive that I could plug into the USB port on my car stereo that could hold a lot (16 gigs) of music. This fulfilled those requirements. The added benifit is that its small, so it doesn't attract a lot of attention.
PROS:
-Small
-Tight cap (won't fall off)
-Holds a lot of (music) info
CONS:
-None for me!
Other Thoughts: Its so small that I can plug it into my netbook and leave it there without worrying about it snagging on anything (like a case). - Usb Flash Drives - Flash Drive - 16gb - 16 Gb Flash Drive'

Camera Backpack - lowepro, backpacking
1. There are a few things that I'd like to put out there prior to getting into my overall impressions of the versapack:
a. There is no perfect photo backpack (or camera bag)
b. Since there is no perfect photo backpack, trying to find the one perfect camera bag is a futile exercise.
c. If you accept the above points, then you'll realize that one needs multiple photo bags, based on the gear you need to carry for the particular occasion.
2. With the above being said, the versapack is a very good photo backpack with the following pros / cons:
a. Pro: it's made by lowepro--> ie very good construction and it's comfortable. Furthermore, unlike the other similar products (ex: that sling type bag or... quick type backpack; sorry I forgot the official names), this pack has a waistbelt (very important in my book) and a sterum strap (also very important to have)... AND, it has a fairly decent tripod holder. I know most folks don't need the tripod holder, but it may come in handy once in a while.
b. Pro or Neutral Feature: for me, I wanted a pack that would enable me to quickly access my camera and thus this one has the ability to open the side pouch and grab the camera without having to take the entire thing off. Unlike the lowepro fastpack, the versapack can be opened from either the right or left side; ie some folks might have a preference over which should to sling the bag, with this thing, you choose. With the fastpack, you can only do it via the right shoulder. As far as getting your camera out of the slot, it works fairly decently. Anytime you're dealing with this type of system, it's going to take some getting used to. There are always going to be trade offs etc...
c. Pro: Carrying Comfort: Compared to the slingshot (which I've used) and the fastpack (which I've also used), this bag carrys a load much better, especially compared to the slingshot.
d. Pro or Con: the actual photo carrying capacity is limited, but this is to be expected. The overall bag size is perfect; not too big, not too small and it's fairly light. As a result, this bag is for those folks with a smallish DSLR (ie, not for those with a full frame camera or an APS-C DSLR with a batt grip etc...). obviously everything depends on your particular system, but I have an Olympus E620 (ie pretty small DSLR) with 12-60mm (fairly decent sized zoom). This bag will easily hold that camera / lens, + extra smallish zoom, + flash or whatever else.
e. Pro: the extra open compartment above is nice, where you can put extra photo gear if so desired or whatever else.
f. Con: the only or main negative I have with this bag is the how the zipper opens to the main open compartment. I suppose based on the overall atypical design of the bag, they had to do it this way, however because of the design (you just have to check it out in person), opening or closing that zipper is a two handed affair. I just wish that they used a more traditional design, like the rover series. Now why didn't I get the rover? The rover doesn't allow for the rapid access of the camera etc...
3. Anyway, sorry for the longwinded analysis. Bottomline, this is probably the best camera backpack IF you require rapid access of your smallish DSLR AND want the most comfort and stability. Very good job Lowepro. Next time, get the zipper deal right. Lowepro Versapack 200 AW Camera Backpack (Black/Gray)
I am going to begin by stating I am not a very experienced photographer and this is the first serious camera bag I have owned. I once owned a fairly cheap sling bag so that is my only comparison.
I really wanted a backpack for my new DSLR (Canon T1i/500D), kit lens, and 70-300mm IS USM lens. I did not want a sling bag because my old one bothered my shoulder when wearing it for more than 2 hours at a time. The primary use for my camera bag will be for wildlife safaris in addition to light hiking.
I need a backpack that is slightly smaller than normal as I am a 5'1" female with a slight build.
I have not had the chance to use the tripod holder yet.
CONS:
1. Like the previous reviewer stated the upper zipper compartment can only be used two handed instead of single handedly. I would prefer the ability to zip and unzip the compartment with one hand for the sake of ease and time.
2. I like the sternum strap and as long as I have it tightened as much as it can go the straps do not rub too much. I carried my bag around for 8 hours in 90 degree heat last weekend and I had a swollen, sore spot where the backpack strap rubbed against my skin when the sternum strap was not tightened all the way.
3. The backpack is a tiny bit too long for my frame size and it doesn't fit quite right even with strap adjustments. I doubt I will find a bag that is perfect for my frame where I can fit all my personal stuff plus camera equipment so I think this bag was a smart purchase for me.
4. I wish the top "personal" compartment was either a bit smaller (so there would be more room in the bottom compartment) OR the personal (top) compartment was as heavily padded as the bottom section. If it was more heavily padded I could put extra lens in it without worrying about the safety of them.
5. The bottom section when unzipped fully opens but if you don't have the top section fully zipped or if you have pens in the pen holders stuff will fall out of the top. It happened to me multiple times because I was too lazy to take the time to zip the top compartment fully. This "con" is probably just operator error.
6. I wish the memory card pocket was on the inside wall of the bottom section of the bag. I was on a safari last weekend with my bag and in order to switch out cards I had to open the bottom section of the bag fully because the pockets are rather tight. If the memory card pockets were on the inside wall instead of the "ceiling" of the bottom section the swap would be faster and easier.
PROS:
1. With the exception of the bag rubbing my skin on the 8 hour day walking around it was extremely comfortable and never bothered my back or neck. I added about 15 pounds of gifts to the top section and the backpack was still comfortable.
2. I love the accessible pockets for writing utensils, cell phone, and other small items.
3. I had to use the All Weather cover at Victoria Falls and it worked extremely well. I do not rely on the AW cover 100% but for the times we walked through the mist it worked like a charm.
4. I love the inside mesh pocket in the top compartment; it is perfect for storing my camera manual.
5. If I remove and change the set-up of the bottom compartment I can fit my camera with 70-300mm lens attached in the bottom section which is the lens I use 90% of the time.
6. The backpack by itself is fairly lightweight and feels comfortable to wear.
7. In a pinch I can use this as a laptop bag by removing the section that divides the bag into top and bottom halves. The top half is not padded but if you're careful a laptop would be safe. Our laptop measures about 16.5" diagonal.
I realize there is no existing "perfect" bag. I do not expect a perfect bag. I will possibly look to invest in another bag for the long safaris I plan on going on but for everyday use and 5 day or less trips I love this bag.
If I can figure out how I will post pictures with my review to make some of my cons more understandable. - Versapak - Camera Bag - Backpacking - Lowepro'

Easy To Use - tomtom gps, tomtom
History with GPS Navigation:
I've used built-in Honda (Alpine), standalone Garmin, and Ford 'Sync' audio GPS navigation devices.
I loved the Honda navi for its size, and I hated it because updates were sparse and expensive.
I loved the Garmin for being up-to-date but I hated it because it always seemed to change its mind a lot, or direct me into strange areas.
I didn't really care for the Ford Sync navigation, as it wasn't a visual navi. Included for free with the car, but I choose not to use it. Maybe only good as a 'back-up' in case the TomTom fails-- though I don't think it ever will.
I sold my Honda and needed a new navigation system.
I bought the XXL 540TM for...
1) Screen size
2) Frequent map updates (4x a year + Map Share)
3) Ability to customize it (lots of settings to play with)
4) Well Known & Quality (I've always heard 'Garmin' is the best, but when I've tried Garmin, I didn't like it!)
5) Lane Guidance
6) IQ Routes (figuring out which roads were best to use)
By the way, in case you were wondering the "TM" stands for "Traffic" and "Maps", indicating there are free traffic and map updates. I had NO problems entering the "Lifetime Maps & Traffic" code provided.
What's in the box:
-> GPS device itself
-> Window mount (with suction cup)
-> Dashboard 'sticky' pad
-> USB cable (to connect to PC)
-> Car Power adapter
-> Set Up Guide
-> Slip of paper with 1 code, valid for Lifetime Map/Traffic updates
The first thing I did was hook it up to my PC and run all the updates. (A newer map was available + GPSFix + Map Share.) It took about 1.5 hours to update all of it. After it was done, it took up about 96% of the 2GB built-in memory. (I didn't check how much it used before updating.) Not a lot of 'wiggle room' to add more features. No built-in SD slot to add memory, either.
One major downside is that I don't like how easily the device 'pops off' the windshield mount. (See further explanation under "The BAD" below.) I am considering getting a (non-adhesive) weighted/padded mount to put on the dashboard.
The GOOD:
+ Screen size met my expectations. Easy to see everything on the screen
+ Startup time (including time to lock onto satellites) seemed fairly quick
+ Roads were up-to-date and labeled properly. Didn't find any errors
+ Allowed me to customize just about everything I wanted to.
+ It functioned perfectly as a Navigation device. This is where I felt Garmin was lacking. With all the features a Garmin has, it never seemed to 'navigate' the way I liked. Of all the features, the 'Navigation' is the most important, and TomTom does it well from what I've seen.
+ It pronounced some 'hard to say' roads perfectly! I'm sure I'll find some that are not right, but Garmin/Sync had a hard time saying road names.
The "OK":
+- Traffic is only updated by RDS (sent by local FM radio stations). This is what I paid for. RDS updated only major roadways (Interstates) and marked some accidents / road construction / road closures. It only worked when the power cord was plugged into the accessory power port on the car (as the cord functions as the antenna.) I would have preferred TomTom's GO/Live line of products which has a built-in 'cell phone' to grab more detailed and current traffic information. But, these were out of my price range. The XXL 540TM does "just enough" traffic to make it useful.
+- It takes some time to calculate a long distance route. But, I also know that it is using IQ Routes to choose the best roads. It seemed 1 or 2 seconds longer than it needed to be, but certainly not a huge problem.
The BAD:
- Internal memory not expandable. 96% used up without any 'extras' installed? Hope I don't need more...
- When browsing maps (dragging my finger) it is a bit 'laggy'. I don't expect perfection, but it seemed sluggish. Fortunately, I don't plan to browse maps often, so I'll deal with it. I tried turning off Points Of Interest (POIs), and turning off 3D maps (using 2D maps instead), and it really didn't seem to make a difference. I'm impressed with the detail it showed, but wasn't thrilled about waiting 10 seconds for the entire screen to finish 'drawing'.
- Windshield mount seemed to 'pop off' too easily. When suctioned to the windshield, I have to use 2 hands to 'hold' the GPS and keep it attached to the mount while I adjust. I suppose it is useful for people who leave the mount stuck on the windshield. I prefer to remove the device AND the mount and hide them when not in use. (I figure a thief will know that the mount is for a GPS, and that the GPS is hidden in the car somewhere.)
I have yet to try this out on a LONG or COMPLEX road trip, but I have no doubts from what I've seen so far that it will be just fine.
OVERALL, I'm happy with the device. Happier than I was with Sync, Alpine, or Garmin. I consider myself an 'Average' navigation user (not a beginner, not an expert) and will update the review after using it more.
Sidenote: I ordered through Amazon, using "Beach Camera" seller. It was delivered ONE (1) business day after I ordered it! I used 'Standard' shipping, and FedEx (Home service) had it delivered fast. Very pleased with Beach Camera's shipping emails and speed!

UPDATE 11/18/2010:
I thought I'd provide an update after 6 months of using this TomTom device:
1) I am still very happy! It's the 1st GPS I've used that "just works" and I'm glad I don't have to mess with it.
2) I've mastered the technique of adjusting the screen position while simultaneously holding the suction base. Back in May when I first reviewed it, I was concerned about how 'easily' it popped off. Now, it is still annoying, but I've minimized the amount of times it happens by holding it appropriately. It doesn't annoy me enough to buy a different stand/holder.
3) The suction cup still holds on quite well. It hasn't fallen off yet. (I attach/detach from the windshield every time I use it.)
4) Traffic Receiver: I've been satisfied with alternate directions/road closings. It is quite accurate, even in rural areas where I didn't expect road closures to be displayed.
5) Long-distance travel: I've used it for a few long trips (1000+ miles) and had no problems whatsoever with it. I found the 'estimate' of time to be extremely accurate. It was no more than 10 minutes off. (I calculated the time I stopped for gas and added it to the original estimate.)
6) Battery life: I've found the battery life to be holding a little less charge than it used to, but nothing that I feel is alarming. Most of the time, I have the power cord connected anyway (so I can grab the traffic updates with the antenna built into the cord.)
Overall, this is my favorite GPS. I've been hooking it up to the computer less and less (meaning I am forfeiting new 'map share' corrections). I even decided NOT to get the latest map update. Why? Well, I feel everything is working just fine the way it is. I may update if I have the free time. This is in sharp contrast to my previous GPS experience, where I'd pray for updates to fix stubborn issues. The TomTom is just fine and I have had no major complaints. I am NOT in the market to buy a new GPS because I'm finally satisfied.
=========================
UPDATE 06/03/2011:
Here is an update after 1 year of using this device!
1) The battery is holding less charge than last year, but it still lasts 6-8 hours without needing a charge. Not a problem for me, because I use the car adapter most of the time.
2) I drove to Canada, and the maps were accurate! In fact, I liked that TomTom still told me the speed limits of the roads. (Sign said 100kph speed limit, TomTom showed 60 mph limit.) I found this helpful so I didn't have to squint at the tiny "kph" on my car's speedometer. I've made this trip before in the past (without my TomTom), and I chose to "Avoid Tolls" on this trip. TomTom found a very nice route that I had not known about. It used IQ Routes to get me around the rush-hour traffic too! I used the "Itinerary" feature for the first time, and found it worked quite well. I programmed 6-7 destinations the night before my trip. The next day, I simply opened the Itinerary and it asked me if I wanted to travel to the 1st one. I also ended up re-ordering a destination to later in the trip, and found an option to re-order. Very helpful!
3) I updated my map just once (right before my trip to Canada). I installed this on a new computer. I was worried that TomTom wouldn't 'know' that I was eligible for free maps on my new computer. But, I had no problem whatsoever! For those of you who don't know, all your map updates, downloadable color schemes, icons (etc) are done through the TomTom HOME software. You create an account with TomTom, and the TomTom HOME software uses that account to 'know' you're eligible for Lifetime Map updates.
4) I did discover 1 piece that doesn't work for me. I cannot use the "Safety Cameras" add-in from TomTom HOME. I haven't researched it though. I got an error message when trying to add it. No big deal for me, since I only planned to add it for curiosity. A quick Google search didn't reveal it as a widespread problem. I'll update this review if I find a cause/solution.
5) Yes, the GPS still "pops off" the mount too easily. It bugs me from time to time, but still not enough to buy a different mount/base.
6) Am I in the market for a new GPS? Nope! Still very happy with this one. (I got sick of every other GPS within 6 months of using it. But, knowing I still love this TomTom after 1 year says a lot!)
Good job TomTom, you exceeded my high expectations. Thank you! TomTom XXL 540M 5-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator (Lifetime Maps Edition) - Tomtom - Gps - Easy To Use - Tomtom Gps'

Cocyx Bone Protection Pillow - cushion support, cocyx bone protection pillow
I have been using this cushion for a couple of years now. I use to be able to buy it at Walgreens but they no longer carry it. I was so happy when I found it on Amazon. I have several of the cushions around. I keep one in my car, one at home, one at work, and now I have one to travel with. I take it on airplanes when I travel. I have broken my tailbone twice and the shape of the cushion takes pressure off of the tailbone. I have recommended it to relatives and friends and they all pruchased it and love it. AS SEEN ON TV SESMC6 Seat Solution Orthopedic Seat Cushion
This is a great cushion. It has a zip-off removable cover. It is light, thin, wedge shaped, and does a great job. Mine has one side of non-slip material, and the other a vinyl type material. It relieves pressure on the tailbone and allows me to sit comfortably in front of my computer for hours. Better than the custom cushions that I had made for me.
I had a broken pelvis & tailbone 8 years ago and I can not sit longer then 25 minutes without shooting pains through my legs, pelvis and back.
I got a job 5 months ago where I have to sit all day and this seat is my life saver! I am able to sit for hours and not have the pains I had :)
At first this cushion seemed to do the job, but after a few weeks the cushion bottomed out flat. It does not retain its' shape. I weigh 180, so I think I may do better with a thicker cushion with less give. And now my tailbone still hurts. The sellers here are great but this product just didn't do it for me. I guess I'll keep shopping for that right one.
This cushion seem to be helping my siatica when I have to sit for exrended periods of time. It is a bit of a nusiance to arrange it in place evey time I use it, but I expect all simialr products would have the same problem. I liked it well enough to get one for another member of my family.
I bought this mainly because I have lower back pain if I sit too long or not sit up straight in the car.
First I must tell you, this does not work (for me), at least not in my car. (I have a smaller Honda Civic). And here is why I don't like it.
(1) The construction of this seat cushion is nothing other than an uneven seat pad with a hole in the middle. With literally just a piece of cheap foam inside. Very soft and there is no support at all, especially when I only weight around 140 lb. After 3 weeks of daily using in the car, the seat cushion is already in bad shape.
(2) The size of this seat cushion is too small to cover the entire car seat, hence it shifts around every minute of the ride. Every time I get out, I almost drag it off the seat (unavoidable). That means everytime I get in the car, I have to adjust the cushion again to be able to sit properly. That is getting annoying and tiring.
Overall, I do not see or experience any of the features being described, regarding their "special" design. Not worth the money (I paid $18 at a local store) and I am going to look for something else. Meanwhile my back is still suffering.
Hi, I recently bought 2 of these ,1 for my car and one for work, I got them quick, however they flattened out completely after me sitting on them for 2 hours, flat like a pancake. this does not support my tailbone at all, if anything I think it may be making my back worse. save your money. this type of cushion in my opinion needs to be made of something that withstands the weight of a human torso, I went out to my local fabric store and bought some industrial stretch couch foam and cut the same shape out and it works a million times better and comperesses somewhat but not much. save your money $5.00 peice of foam from a fabric store and some scissors will be a much better job.
My hip used to hurt awfully after driving my Crown Vic for an hour.
I bought one of these at Walgreens and have used it for 2 or 3 years with great relief. My hip no longer hurts and I can drive three or four hours easily. The cushion shows no sign of wear.
This cushion works great for relieving the discomfort caused by pilonidal cysts. Also helpful for those recovering from surgery for the same. My wife swears by hers. So much that we bought 2 (one for at home and one for at work).
i injured my tailbone a year and a half ago, so badly that i cannot sit for more than 10 minutes without paralyzing pain. this cushion seemed like the solution to my problem, and i had no complaint about it until my 220-lb husband sat on it. this product is NOT designed for heavier individuals. I wish a weight reccommendation had been stated in the packaging, because now i will have to find something else. - Cushion Support - Back Pain - Coccyx Bone Injury - Cocyx Bone Protection Pillow'

Carrying Case For Garmin Nuvi - carrying case for garmin nuvi, garmin 255w
Eva Case for Garmin Nuvi 255W, Black
I was not expecting the very good quality case I received for this price. I was happily surprised at the quality, price, service and convenience I experienced when ordering this case. It is exactly what I wanted/needed for the Garmin nuvi 255W. Eva Case for Garmin Nuvi 255W, Black
The title about says it all. It's a great little case but there are stray threads and the zipper can bind at the corners a bit. It was well worth the money I paid for it though. It also comes with a little wrist strap in case you want to carry the GPS with you. I'd recommend it if you can overlook the detail work (after all with technology being as replacable as it is you'll probably replace the GPS before the case ever has an issue).
First I have to say that I highly doubt you could find a better product for $4!
In the photos this appears to be a rubberized hard clam shell design. I was surprised when it came that it is actually elegantly wrapped in a heavy nylon fabric. It has a good durable zipper, a wrist strap and clip. Although quite rigid, it was not as HARD as I expected.
When you open the case there are elastic straps on one side to hold the GPS in place. On the other side, a net pocket and a flap with slots to store extra memory cards.
My one big complaint is if you put all your cords and cards and stuff in the case with your GPS, it is overfull. When you close the case anything you have on the other side crushes right into the screen, so I'd suggest putting the GPS in the case face first.
If you plan to just use the case to protect your GPS when you toss it in your purse or backpack, then I definitely recommend it. However, if you are looking for a case to keep ALL your GPS accessories together, this probably isn't the ideal product.
Case came pronto and price was excellent. Overall construction is very good and perfect protection for our 255W especially given most of the time it lives in our car's glove box when not in actual use. Case is molded nylon material and is semi-rigid. Inside web pouch (keep quick reference manual here) and slots for extra cards are a bonus. Two elastic straps hold GPS snug and help keep inplace when opening. Although case is not thick enough to hold our power cable, not a problem as our cable is in a section of the console where we don't need to move out of the way. Note: our actual product was a bit different than pictured but had everything we expected. - Carrying Case For Garmin Nuvi - Garmin - 255w - Garmin 255w'

Model Trains - multitool, hobby tool
First off, this is a "mini" set (i.e. each piece is the size of a dime [cone shaped ones] or a half dollar [pinwheel ones]). Although the description does list the accurate sizes, the picture is deceiving. This did not factor into my review rating but thought I would mention it.
Second, it is made in China and the quality is lacking. I used a brass piece on a small cast iron skillet to remove simple surface rust and it didn't even make it passed half of the bottom of the skillet and there was nothing left of the brush! I have used these before but this set was the worst. These brushes are cheaply made.
Third, on the BOTTOM of the box it says that the pieces contain lead. After I discovered that, I just threw the box out. Not worth breathing in lead (I do use a mask) or getting on my hands or clothes. Better safe than sorry!
I would avoid this product and do not recommend it.
Thanks for reading. I hope you found this review helpful. 24 piece Wire Wheel and Cup Brush Set
This brush set is a real bargain. Great purchase for those that do alot of small detailed rust removal and such with a rotary tool. The brushes aren't quite Dremel quality, but they get the job done and you can't beat the price for the amount of brushes you get. - Dremel - Hobby Tool - Rotary Tool - Multitool'

Keyless Lock - keyless lock, code
I was a little afraid that, for the price, this lock would be flimsy and poorly made. I was pleasantly surprised. I installed it myself. It fit right in the space where the old doorknob went, no drilling needed. Being programmable, you have to rely on the manual for instructions. Luckily this is one of the easiest electronic gadgets to set up I have come across. The manual is obviously written by someone for whom English is a second language, but he did a pretty good job. The instructions are JUST understandable. Still, I wish they would spend a few bucks and get a natural english speaker to re-write it. The lock is electronic and depends on batteries to power it, but it gives a specific warning beep when the batteries get low and you have 10 days to change them, standard aaa type. They also give you an emergency power supply you can plug in to the lock to operate it. You can put in up to 10 different codes. All in all I would say it is a great product for the money and could be installed by almost anyone with any mechanical talent at all, especially if you already have a standard type doorknob on your door. Keyless Electronic Digital Door Lock
I shopped around for an electronic door lock that didn't break the bank. Every other manufacturer was nearly double the cost of this lock, and given the fact that it doesn't get a lot of use, I opted for the cheaper variation. Man was I impressed when I opened the box. I thought I'd be getting a cheap feeling, sub-par quality lock that I may or may not have to modify to fit. I was wrong! The lock is incredibly durable, it has a very nice weight, feels great and works incredibly well. You can program a single master code & multiple user access codes that can easily be removed/reset if need be. The master code needs additional steps to be changed, involving disassembling the blank door knob and gaining access to the electronic assembly.
Bottom line is that I was weary of the quality, but once I received the door lock, I couldn't be happier with my purchase!
Thanks!
- Update - February 5, 2009. These things are awesome. Bought several around August of last year, and I really love these things. Have had no problems whatsoever. My only gripe is that I wish the whole keypad would light up at night when you push a button, but other than that it's a GREAT product! (I did lose my manual though, so if anyone has one or a copy of the programming info I'd love to get a copy)
I operate a small property management firm and have been looking for ways to increase security to storerooms and off-limits areas; all the while making sure that the door remained locked (we have since installed automatic door closers to complement this lock.
I didn't expect a whole lot from this product with its relatively low price, but I went out on a limb and ordered two--one for our tool room and one for the gardening storage shed. I've come to be friends with our locksmith--who happens to be a master locksmith with quite a bit of knowledge and is always frank with me. He too was skeptical when he looked at the lock, and had not seen one before, and told me that the push button dead bolts cost hundreds of dollars typically (which I knew from research).
He had several things to do around the complex, and to my surprise he told me that the locks were well made, and he was interested in finding out how to get hold of some. We've had no problems with the locks (we have three now, and I'm about to buy more). It's easy to change the codes, and helps protect valuable tools and supplies.
I'd recommend it for anyone in a similar situation. I'd have one on my front door if I didn't already have a Medeco M3 deadbolt installed in antique brass. As much as I'm in and out, it'd be nice to have the door constantly locked.
This is a substantially-built lock. Heavy. Solid -- surprisingly so. Easy to install and easy to program and the light up feature is excellent. The last variant of these digital combo locks I bought (different brand) did not work well below 20 degrees. I am really hoping this one does because everything about it seems great so far.
this is a great product and well worth the $70. very easy to install and it works like a charm. you can set different codes for different users and there is also an encryption tool! great lock! will buy more!
I bought this same lock several years ago, it worked great at first when I installed it, then I started to experience problems with it.
I found out that some of the wires inside became stripped from the normal everyday usage of the knob, I tried to fix it, it was a pain to get it apart from the inside, I managed to locate the stripped wire and corrected the issue, but at the end the lock did not work properly, (was not making the proper contact locking) I'm planning on just getting rid of it and purchasing one that does not require batteries. Like I said at first it work fine, but then the inside wires will fail. The construction is well made, it's just the inside wiring that's the problem.
I bought mine from eBay not Amazon, but regardless after a couple years I don't think you would be able to get a refund.
I still have the User Manual too.
I've been looking into a product like this for a long time now, and they usually start at about ~$130 - so needless to say that when I found one for so cheap (payment+shipping=$94) I was a little skeptical. I ordered it, waited about a week and a half to find out that USPS had lost my first item - I was furious. I contacted the company and ended up being embarrassed at how I acted. They were more than helpful and offered to send me an additional unit at no extra cost, which I really appreciate. Installation was crazy fast (1 Philips head screw driver), I was up and operational in about 10 minutes. Master code is all I need, but I did a quick user programming to see how easy it was - basically a trained monkey could do it! I HIGHLY recommend this item, and this seller! - Code - Keyless Entry - Electronic Lock - Keyless Lock'

Abf-90 - spinning reels, okuma
The fish are coming in and I can't use my new reel. I have had the reel for less than 2 months and had my first breakdown. When I would reel in, there was a drag in the reel. I thought it would loosen up, but it just got worse. Since I am in Cabo San Lucas, it is difficult to just send the reel back to the manufacturer, so I took it apart and found the gear post was cutting into the guide and causing the drag. I called the manufacturer and they were very responsive in getting the parts sent to me. However, the jury is still out on the quality of this product. If or when I get the parts replaced, I will be able to provide a more substantial user evaluation. Daiwa Saltwater Bite & Run Spinning Reel, Regal Plus Bite & Run 5500, with Spare Aluminum Spool
Aright ive been fishing for 16 years now ive had penn daiwa shimanno finn nor And i am a huge fan of daiwa i have two baitrunners ones the old shimanno black and silver version and i have fished with there new version and i have to say its just as good prefect for the price i love first time fising with it hooked on a 3 and a half foot jack landed it weighed about 30lbs and this reel(with power pro)Handles great before you go and buy a shimanno try this reel out i know your gonna love it its great and very smooth and awesome drag!
Received my reel (5000 BRi model) yesterday, mounted it on my new rod, lined it.
I'm happy to say, I caught three nice Bluecats, no problem with casting or bringing in the fish.
I read the other two reviews, fortunately I didn't have the problems one of the other reviewers had, (time will tell). I also have quite a few Daiwa reels, different models, some are bait runners. If I can get the service I got from them, I'll be very happy with this one. Price was great, specially with my gift certificate ($21 bucks).
This reel is fantastic, Excellent engineering and great all round appeal.
Adjustable drag for playing larger fish and adjustable bait runner drag for using live baits.
A single turn of the crank arm disengages bait runner clutch to start winding in the monster fish. This is a bit larger than the reels I'm used to and the crank arm has a slightly larger turning diameter, so just a bit of getting used to.
Another bonus is the spare spool. If their not biting on the lead sinker, then a quick change of spool with thinner line is easy. One dislike is that the spool is fixed with a thread not a quick release button, but for the price and overall quality this is a minor point. I ordered one to start with just to see, and as is the next 2 should arrive in a couple of days.
Great reel, smooth workings, great quality and sits great in the reel clamps with no wobble. - Spinning Reels - Okuma - Diawa Reel'

Weller Soldering Station
We use this model soldering station at our business. We first purchased the previous version of this model and still have it. This version works basically the same way with the only difference being the way that the LED light on the front works. On the older version the LED was just an On or Off indicator, but on the newer version, it also indicates what heating state the iron is in (I.e. heating, or at temperature). We now have 3 of these units. Our company is in the Analog and digital panel meter business, and we are also a modification/repair center, so these units see daily use and sometimes use all day. These units have a great advantage over traditional soldering irons due to the added temperature sensor in the tip. This helps to avoid any overheating that may occur in a standard soldering iron. The price on these units as well as the nice tips they come with makes the choice between a cheap soldering iron and this unit simple. I would reccommend this to anyone who uses a soldering iron on a regular basis. Weller WES51 Analog Soldering Station
Works well. Nice selection and availability of tips. Only negative I report here is the temperature control knob shaft broke on mine. Upon taking off the rubber feet and the 4 screws holding the case together I found the knob is way too flimsy (very tiny plastic shaft) for the tiny variable resistor control it turns. Just poor engineering/quality - the knob to control connection should be much more rugged for the price of the iron. Otherwise a nice functional tool.
I've been using this solder station for a few hours a week for the last year. The durability seems fine, the temperature dial and on/off switch still feel crisp without slop. The iron stand has a ceramic holder ring mounted in the typical spring which keeps from banging soft tips on the steel. The stand base also has holes to store extra tips so they're on hand instead of missing in a drawer somewhere.
The ET tips that work with the included soldering pencil are great, from a 1/64" conical tip for SMD to a 3/16" screwdriver tip for chassis work, it does many jobs well. The soldering pencil is light and nimble so I don't get hand cramps with extended use.
This has been a great tool that's gone through 5 lbs of solder without a hitch. It's no frills and all business but a huge step-up in quality from the $15 irons I used until I purchased this. The end justifies the means.
The Weller WES51 is without a doubt the absolute best soldering iron that a working man can justify spending the money on. It's the ONLY heavy duty iron you'll ever find that allows exact temp settings for under a hundred bucks. It allows you to set the temp only a few degrees above the melting point of the solder, greatly enhancing the quality of your work. And it's a heavy duty unit, so unlike the cheap lightweight ripoffs. The rugged and user friendly design reminds me of something made in the 1950s or 1960s. Well done, Weller!
The Weller WES51 (Analog Soldering Station) is amazing. I had been using whatever soldering iron was on sale whenever I needed one, only to have it fail after a few uses. After the last one broke I decided it was time to move up to a decent iron. I researched several and decided the WES51 would meet my needs - the best bang for the buck. It has performed flawlessly. I could have spent much more money, but I don't think I could have bought a better tool.
I got the WES51 station for my first soldering experience, replacing bad/blown capacitors in my older G5 Imac, and it worked great. (25 capacitors replaced successfully!)
I purchased based on positive reviews and the price seemed good. Never having soldered before- and frankly never having worked on the guts of my computer before- the project was daunting; I didn't want to spend a lot of dough on a tool that I may never use again and for a project that I perceived had dim prospects for success. Having used it successfully, I now consider this to be an excellent tool and a tremendous value for the price.
When I first opened the box, I thought the unit looked antiquated- something you might unearth from underneath your grandfather's workbench. It has one LED to let you know the unit is on and heating, and a dial. The machine is solid, though, and has the look and feel of quality.
The iron itself is light and the soft foam rubber makes it very comfortable to hold over time. Also, the coating on the handle keeps your fingers cool- I used it comfortably for hours. The cable from the iron to the station is thoughtfully long and made of high quality silicone that is very flexible- these features made the iron very easy to use. I spent hours on my project, holding the iron constantly, and never felt I had to put it down due to fatigue or because it became too hot to hold.
The iron heated to its designated temperature very quickly- seemed to me a matter of seconds from a cold start. The stand that comes with it is durable and the coiled receiver protects the iron well (and me from the hot tip!) and is a good angle for constant use. All in all, I am impressed with the quality and ergonomics of this kit. The products I used with this that worked equally well are Super Solder Super Solder Wire 60% 1.0mm Diameter - 1lb Spool and Tech Spray Desoldering Wick Tech Spray Desolder Braid,Pro- Wick, #4, Anti-Static, Blue, 5'
The only thing that was challenging when using this product was desoldering on my Imac circuit board. I hear that they use a solder with a higher melting point (lead-free silver solder?) and the iron just barely melted it. Everything turned out OK, but I felt I was lingering a little too long with the iron on the board to desolder those leads. I'm certain this is not a flaw with the soldering station, but it may be relevant to those who might need a bit more oomph from their iron. It did flow the Super Solder very well and easily, however.
I am very happy with this product and recommend it highly!'

Imse Vimse - pool diaper, cloth diapers
Since committing to using cloth diapers, I just couldn't stomach buying disposables for swimming. A blog I read recommended this and it's been perfect. My daughter has used the swim diaper weekly for the last 6 months and I've never had any problem with it. Launders well (just make sure to 'close' it so the velcro doesn't stick to your other laundry), wears well, and we have yet to be kicked out of a hotel or public pool for 'improper attire'. Drill Presses - woodworking, drill presses
the table does not line up with the base, which does not affect the machine workings but does throw the user's eye off. i have yet to find the stops for drilling consistent hole depth. the laser is totally useless and flimsy. the belt adjustment is not easy. there is a grinding noise coming from the spindle. i would say this item is not worth the price asked, but i got mine on the initial offer which had 100 off, maing the price 50...and that is about what it is worth.
i have since writing the above had more time with the machine and like it even less. the motor is not at all powerful; when drilling thru 1/4" steel the press easily gets overloaded and stalls out. this makes for tedious and long drilling times; having to go slow and all to keep the thing from stalling out under this modest load. Hitachi B13F 10-Inch Benchtop Drill Press with Laser
I recently purchased this same tool at Lowes for $139.00. I usually buy from Amazon due to their excellent pricing but I needed the press quickly. Its ok. It lacks power and bogged down and stalled when drilling 1/4" teak with a 4" hole saw. I used it for production drilling of rub rails for my boat and it worked fine for that. It pretty much meets my needs but could be a bit more robust.
I purchased this for our business (light and occasional use in wood). It would not come on after assembly, then I noticed the motor housing was crushed on the bottom pinning the fan. I took off the cover and the cheap plastic fan was in pieces. Called and they would not send me replacement parts but said I had to return the entire unit. Not worth the trouble so I have used it without the fan. The lasers are too bright and makes it harder to see what you are drilling. The table will not stay tight and swings to the sides easily making aligment for precision work difficult. This is a $99 drill press and worth $99.....but no more.
Who would imagine a drill press not lasting a year?
A year later, mine was on the scrap pile. The motor began emitting bad noises and wouldn't run. Before that, I kept encountering a long series of quality disappointments. I had hoped for more from Hitachi.
For almost exactly the same $129 I paid for this one, I bought a replacement from Harbor Freight which has held up way better.
Also, having an MT2 chuck mount gives you a lot more choices than the JT33 found in lower end drill presses. The HF has an MT2. This press, a JT33.
I bought this a few months ago. Unfortunately, the chuck has become loose. Which means that now even under the slightest of loads, I cannot get any drilling done. Replacement is about $40. This would made the whole press's worth less than $60.
I'm very well satisfied with this bench top drill press. It went together easily and is well built for a drill press this size. If you're looking for a bench top drill press for ocassional use then you should consider the 10" Hitachi B 13F1 10.
Purchasing this item through Amazon.com gave me a great deal and the transaction couldn't have been any better.
I have a lot of tools and out all the bench drill presses I've either used or owned this is the best for the price and it has very quick change drill speeds.... You won't regret buying this model of Hitachi drill press.
Ten years ago, you could always count on Hitachi to produce a solid, percision, dependable product, but then they moved their factory to China, where there is NO quality control no matter what Hitachi claims. I have learned the hard way from this drill press and one of their compound miter saws (both of which I have now sold in yard sales), and I will never waste money on a Hitachi product again.
I ordered the Drill press via Amazon because of the good price and the free shipping. However, the unit arrived damaged. The Drill including the box weighs over 61 pounds and shipped in the original manufactures package. When the box is not handled correctly, e.g. dropped on the floor, the belt guard cover (which is made out of very thin sheet metal) bends into the head assembly of the drill. During the impact, the heavy weight of the head assembly also deforms the base of the pulley cover. I then returned the first unit to Amazon and they shipped me a second unit as a replacement. Unfortunately the second unit also arrived with the exact same damage. UPS or whoever else was handling the two units did a lousy job by most likely dropping the box or not being careful enough for this type of packaging. I also returned the second unit. I can't say much of the product quality itself but if the way how the package is holding up in transit is any indication I don't expect much. - Power Tools - Drill Presses - Woodworking - Hitachi'

Jewelry Boxes For Girls - music boxes, girl gifts
I bought this music box for my 5 year old daughter for Christmas. Although she had so many other gifts, she said that this is the best gift of them all. The pictures on the music box is beautifully colored and the quality of the workmanship is outstanding. It is nicely put together and sturdy. A lot of attention to detail was put into this box. There are four pull out drawers. A small drawer on each the right and left side. One in the front of the box (I wish the front drawer was a little deeper) and one in the back of the box. This is the reason the front drawer does not go back deeper because the bottom space is split between the front drawer and the back drawer. When you open the lid or top of the box, there is a mirror, and a white horse that spins as the music plays. To play the music you wind up or turn the gold knob at the back. A gold colored top latch, and gold round pull out knobs for the drawers completes this beautiful box. Enchantmints Sweet Fairy Wrens Music Box
I bought this for my 6 year old granddaughter when we were attending All American Quarterhorse Congress in Columbus Ohio. She picked it out for herself and couldn't be still until we went back and bought it. This is a very nice keepsake that I am sure she will have for many years to come and all the little drawers made it fun for her.
I purchased this music box for my daughters 5th birthday. She opened it at the party and it was an instant hit with all the little girls! It has several little drawers which are perfect for storing her little "treasures". She loves to wind it and watch the horse spin while listening to the "pretty music". Several other moms wanted to know where I bought the music box so they could get one for their own daughters. Truly a worthwhile purchase!
My 3 year old daughter expressed much interest in having a jewelry/music box. I didn't want to spend a fortune and my biggest concern was that she would just break it. I found and bought this one as a Christmas present last year. She absolutely loved it. Her favorite is playing the music and watching the horse dance. I love that it is pretty much unbreakable, made of a sturdy material, and not very expensive. My daughter (now age 4 1/2) still loves it and puts her special treasures inside. Although the side drawers are not very big, they can still hold several play rings. Each large drawer holds a few beaded necklaces and the top compartment is large enough to hold my daughter's sunglasses.
Gave this as a gift this holiday, what a great reaction. Our friend's 7-year old daughter and my 5-year old daughter were over the moon about this. It looked great and really fit their whole magical princess play. Very nice!
My daughter LOVED this box. She is 5 yrs. old and really wanted a music box. She is also crazy about horses, so this was the perfect gift for her. She loves putting her little "treasures" in and out of the drawers and is very fond of the music and the spinning horse inside. However, she can be a little rough with her toys, so we'll see how durable this box turns out to be. Trouble is, she has a 3-year-old sister who also loves to get her hands on it and that does not help. Overall, a very pretty toy and fun for a girl who is into little knick-knacks and needs a special place to keep them safe.
I would say the only thing good about this musical jewelry box was the beautiful paintings on the outside. Otherwise, its junk. I know it is a relatively inexpensive jewelry box BUT..it came to me with broken hinges, scratched inside and the screws were loose..someone didn't inspect this before mailing it to me..unfortunate. I wouldn't purchase this product again.
Got this for my 5-year-old for Christmas. She loves it. It has so many clever little drawers and the quality is pretty good. It is printed paper (not painted), so it probably won't last forever, but the construction is good and I expect this to last beyond her early childhood years. Music is good, too.
great musical box. i wish i had one when i was a little girl, but now i can enjoy through my daughter, vicariously of course! it doesn't actually fit much, so it's not so practical as a jewelery box or something for hair clips - but it's a fun toy and it has secret compartments all around. - Girl Gifts - Horse - Jewelry Boxes - Music Boxes'

Cell Phone Charger - ac-dc converter, power inverter
We needed an adapter for our portable DVD (kids broke the cord). None of the "universal" adapters fit our ports, so we began to look at this kind. Many are very low output and do not provide enough continuous output to run a device, only charge it. Very happy with this product. Great continuous output for our needs. Gets a little warm after 4 hours of use (but so does every other device, including the player). Have not tried using the USB port at the same time yet. Takes a little getting used to the bulk of it when plugging in, but green indicator light lets you know when you've got good contact.
Would recommend in a heartbeat! DBTech® 175 Watt Portable Micro Power Inverter With USB Port --- 12v AC to 110v DC Car Plug Converter For Your iPod, iPad, iPhone, Droid, DVD Players, Laptops, Netbooks, And cellphones
Be cautious to consider buying this product. The device is loud, in that it has a fan inside and this fan runs all the time.
The product gets hot within a few minutes and remains hot while in use.
So hot in fact that one may worry that it is overheating. In addition, the net battery recharge gain to a regular Dell laptop in terms of recharging a battery while driving is nominal.
One thirty minute drive/charge yielded less than thirty minutes of renewed battery.
Obivously, in an emergency or to convert a cars dc to ac for use while driving; this device works.
It is not a very successful converter. Sorry to have to be unsupportive, but hopefully the manufacturer will upgrade the product.
Replaces a much more cumbersome unit. At some point I may wish it had more power, but it will charge my computer or portable speakers while on travelling and camping, which was the main purpose for this purchase.
Bought this 3-21-11 and have used it once briefly to verify it works.
The first time I plugged the inverter into the cigarette lighter I already had my laptop charger plugged into the inverter and the other end of the charger plugged into the laptop before doing this. That blew the 20 amp fuse in my cigarette lighter. So after putting in another fuse I decided to plug just the inverter in first, then the laptop charger, then the laptop. That worked fine and I tried that several times and it worked fine each time (Dell D600 laptop and charger and laptop which probably draws no more than 90Watts on average)
Possible order matters as the laptop charger appears to have a big capacitor in it and possibly trying to charge that up and power the laptop plugged into the charger draws to much current all at once initially.
Also verified the inverter would drive a 60watt light bulb as well.
Will report back after our vacations this year as to how well it has worked over time.
Greg
Great product, works great to charge anything and everything on long car trips. The only knock I have against it is the connection between the devise and the car isn't snug enough so I had to rig up a holding wire so it won't fall out.
This is the smallest 175 watt inverter that I have been able to find. I use it on planes when I need to plug in my laptop or charge items with USB (which is everything theses days). I also keep one in my car for emergencies. Works great.
when i bought this product with the price that it had on it, I didn't think it was going to be worth my money. When i got it I put it right to the test with a cross country trip. I was in the car for over 100hr in a few weeks. I always had my laptop (MacBook Pro 13") Plugged in charging. After a little bit you could start to hear the fan that was in it. But if you have music on even at a low level you cant even hear it. Best product i have ever used for charging my laptop in the car.
I just got mine today from Amazon.com. Upon opening the sealed package, I noticed a rattle inside the inverter.
Turns out that there was a loose screw in the inside. Other than that, the 175w easily powers my Dremel_100 (145watt) for emergency lock cutting and on the road emergencies. Connected fine to my portable booster battery's
cigarette lighter. A portable dremel comes in handy for that once in a year situation.
The plastic looks really cheap. I won't rely on this quality for daily use. Given the cheap plastic, I just hope this thing is fire safe. Nevertheless, the price is right. - Car Charger - Power Inverter - Ac-dc Converter - Car Adapter'
