Acne Treatments - adult acne, acne treatments

I am in my mid-40s and have been suffering from ever-worsening acne for some years. It was much worse than when I was in my teens, and had gotten to the point where I felt truly embarrassed about my skin. It was especially bad with the hormonal fluctuations of my menstrual cycle. I tried MANY different products, both over the counter and prescribed by my doctor. Nothing seemed to make the slightest difference. I had tried Pro-Active, as well -- nothing. Acne Free Sensitive has made a HUGE improvement in my skin! I won't say it is perfect all the time, but blemishes are much fewer, smaller and clear up much faster, without leaving a mark. It worked better when I started being fairly liberal with the step 3 (benzoil peroxide) cream. My one complaint is that you can't buy each product seperately. I don't need a lot of moisturizer, so I always have lots of that, but run out of the other things. Bottom line: I think everyone's skin is very individual, so this product may not work for you -- but lordy, I sure am grateful it has worked so well for me! Good luck. AcneFree Sensitive Skin Acne System

Tried alot of acne systems, this is by far the best! I use this one because it is for sensitive skin. Very gentle, and it lasts a LONG TIME! Unlike something like ProActiv that you pay 40 dollars for, and it only lasts a month. You pay not even 20 for this and it lasts me about 3 1/2-4 months! Great! Love, love, love this and would reccommend it to anyone!

I have been using this for almost 2 years now and I am very happy with the results. 1-2 months after using it, my face started to clear and it has been clear ever since. Suffered adult acne for 10 years, I am now in my early 30s and I am just happy something finally worked. Was on oral antibiotic in the past, planned for pregnancy and stopped the meds. Acne free worked well and got me through pregnancy as well with clear skin. I noticed that I start to break out if I don't use so it is definitely doing its job. I only hope it could be sold separately because I run out of the lotion first more than anything else. I hardly use the terminator, cleanser lasts a while but I always have to buy the whole kit just to get the lotion.

I am not usually in the habit of writing reviews for products because there is almost always someone who has already said it better than I myself can. However, because this product has so few reviews as compared to the non-sensitive skin system, I thought I'd give it a go.

First off, let me say that this worked wonders on my skin. For a little background, I am 21 years old and have never really struggled with acne before last year. It was mostly small, under-the-skin bumps all over my cheeks and then, more recently, I started to break out terribly on my forehead. I tried everything from all-natural solutions to Proactive to Clean and Clear but nothing made my skin any better. After a year of spending money and trying everything under the sun and with my acne worsening pretty clearly, I decided to make my way to Amazon to find something completely new to me.

I went with the sensitive skin system, as my skin is extremely sensitive and dries out so quickly with new products. Within a week of using this product, my skin has cleared up tremendously. No more forehead acne at all! And there are very few bumps left on my cheeks so I am sure that they will clear up pretty soon. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to look in the mirror and not try to count how many blemishes I am going to have to attempt to cover up today!

A word of warning, however: this did still dry my skin out. The second day was the worst; right under my eyes was so dry and red but I could already see a slight difference in my acne and did not want to give up on it. I persisted on and it was definitely worth it. I found that my skin was mostly dried out by the facial cleanser and so I switched to using a gentler wash while still applying the AcneFree lotion and, when needed, the terminator spot control. My skin is still a bit dry on the tops of my cheeks but it is nothing noticeable unless you are touching them. So, if you have a problem with it drying your skin out then I might suggest using a cleanser that is considered very mild, perhaps from Burt's Bees or Cetaphil, every other day or once during the twice daily uses of this system so that it reduces the dryness caused during the use of this product.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this to someone attempting to get rid of acne. It worked so well for me and I was incredibly skeptical of it, as I have used nearly every (expensive!) three-step acne solution out there. Definitely give this one a try, it just might work for you!

This works wonderfully, as long as I remain consistent. I have noticed that as soon as I miss a day, the acne is back. I am very pleased with this though--it has worked better than some prescriptions that I've had.

I purchased this kit in hopes of helping my struggle with acne. The price was definitley a good price and made it worth buying to try. The cleanser has a nice texture but did not feel like it truely cleaned my face. I would wash once before with a basic face wash to remove my make up and follow with the AcneFree cleanser. The hydrator has a lightweight feel. The spot treatment is similar to any other benzol peroxide spot treatment you would buy. This kit is definitely worth trying because of the price if you are struggling with acne. I have not found anything to help with my acne in ten years so I am not suprised this did not work for me.

I have been using this system for about 2 weeks now. Already, I have noticed a huge change! My face has not gotten anymore acne and the acne that I did have is nearly cleared up. I highly recommend trying this out. It doesn't make my face dry out or make me extra itchy. I love it!

I have mild to moderate acne plus dry, sensitive skin. This acne system works very well for me. My skin is a touch dry since starting this system, but isn't as prone to oiliness as it was before. My skin looks better than it has in months!. I've also tried Murad's acne system, and I think Acne Free delivers better results--at a fraction of the price! Also, A.F. is a three-step system, whereas Murad is four steps. I've notice my compliance has increased with A.F. simply because there are fewer steps to follow. - Blemish Control - Acne - Acne Treatments - Adult Acne'

Indoor Antenna - tv antenna, rca

I'm a first timer at getting OTA HDTV. This has been an experiment in progress for the past 5 weeks. I have gone through four antennas (they are all here as I write this) before finding something that's satisfactory (rather than tolerable).

I live around 25 miles from Manhattan, where the towers of most TV stations are located. I am also aware of the directional information from [...], and have experimented accordingly with its effects on reception. My apartment's windows all face north, while the signals all comes from southwest. I cannot get signals from where it comes from, and thus needed to get signals from deflections perhaps off nearby buildings and trees. It's a very poor circumstance for over-the-air reception, maybe just slightly better than being underground. Signals are weak, and are affected by weather. Stormy and windy days have shown effects at disrupting signal reception.

With this said, and without going into much detail, let's talk about the antennas. Now all these antenna have been tested with the same equipment, setup, directional adjustments, location, etc. etc. and have been tested through good an foul weather, day and night, to observe differences.

1.Terk HDTVa Terk HDTVa Indoor Amplified High-Definition Antenna for Off-Air HDTV Reception- After reading some rave reviews and high ratings at [...], log periodic types (looks like a fishbone) seems to be the way to go. I got the Terk HDTVa first, thinking that the amplification and VHF antenna should nail my reception problems at the start. However, after more than two weeks of fidgeting around ad nauseam (directions, locations, amplifications, different devices, etc.), I only managed to pick up two ATSC channels' signals, and even those don't have strong enough signals to display anything. I thought maybe it's just my poor location, and that I should probably give up on the attempt. The included in-line amplifier dongle doesn't work at all. Powering it on makes no difference in signal strength readings, which hovered around 5-10%.

It is well built, looks nice, good concepts, but it just didn't work.

2.Phlips PHDTV1 Philips PHDTV1 Digital HDTV-UHF Indoor Antenna- The venerated "silver sensor" which was previously sold under the Zenith brand also had great ratings and reviews. It's in fact nearly legendary. I decided, in desperation, to try it out, even if it doesn't have amplification. It seems all my local HD channels are in UHF anyway, so I won't miss the VHF dipoles.

The unit has startlingly poorer build quality compared to the Terk. It has paint bubbles, hairs and dusts trappings in the paint, sharp edged cheap plastics and much thinner metal blades that's covered in oil and has some dings and bendings. I wasn't impressed with the quality, and didn't expect much from it as I set it up.

To my surprise, it picked up 9 working channels (note: the terk got two channels' signals, but they didn't work) from the start, even if it's randomly placed. It's thrilling as it was the first time I saw OTA HDTV. After some adjustment and location experiments, I was able to receive 19 channels. However, not all of these channels work well given the same direction.

The directionally sensitive antenna needs to be adjusted as I switch channels. e.g. NBC and CBS seems to work well in one direction, while ABC has its own favorite direction, which works also with FOX. I tried as best as possible to find a compromise point where everything works. I couldn't. It just needs to be adjusted constantly.

The transmission is often dogged by reception fluctuations. Signal quality tend to fluctuate quite a bit, especially affected by weather. That means the TV playback would get choppy at times, with its severity dependent on the direction I point the antenna at. I didn't think fluctuating signals was a characteristic until I tried the latter two antennas later. I also found that I had to constantly play with the directional positioning to get a stable signal from each of the stations.

It works, and I was impressed, but then in retrospect it could only be best described as a "tolerable" HDTV experience as I struggled for a smooth signal delivery.

3.RCA ANT111 Basic Indoor Antenna- While shopping in stores, I saw this basic and classic RCA loop/dipole antenna for less than $[...]. I couldn't resist the temptation to try it out, just for the heck of it. It is also a different type of antenna than the previous two.

Again, I was surprised. This cheap antenna worked well, especially considering how it's only a fraction of the price of the two I'd tried. I ended up getting 17 channels, a few less than the PHDTV1, with the same location and setup. Some channels also don't work, even if signals were detected. The quality of the signals seems to be the key.

So what's so special about it? It strangely had better signal delivery for the channels that worked. It's not as choppy, and quality level is very steady. It is also not as affected by directional positioning. I was for the first time able to view FOX, ABC, CBS, NBC without adjusting the antenna. However, the lack of directionality also makes it ambiguous when I lost the signal. It seems that there's no "favorite direction" for the channels, which also means I can't pull in stronger signals at my choosing. It is also quite susceptible to weather changes, particularly wind (which probably affected signals reflected by trees?)

The signal strength also seems to be a little weaker, though the signal quality tend to be higher in general. That probably contributed to the smoother video delivery. It also tempted me to get a similar design that has amplification.

4.Philips MANT510 Philips High Performance Amplified Indoor Uhf/ Vhf/ Fm Antenna- This unit has a "digital TV optimized, patent pending UHF panel array". I thought I'd try it out just for the slightly different antenna design, if not just for the adjustable amplification.

Well, it works, and works quite well. The antenna doesn't work without power, and with amplification turned off it works a little less than unpowered PHDTV1 and ANT111. Yet with the amplification turned on, I get 24 channels, with strength up to 81% (compared to 3-10% unamplified, and quality consistently above 60 and usually in the 70-90%+. That generates the most reliable video delivery of all the ones tried.

While thunderstorms still managed to distrupt signals, it's much less often and only momentarily. I also don't have to worry about hunting for signals as I just point it in one general direction and I get everything but three NJN channels (they are even further from here.. maybe a good 50 miles).

I finally can just set the antenna and forget it. It lets me focus on the programming rather than antenna adjustment. While it needs to be powered, it gives me the confidence to finally enjoy HDTV, rather than tweaking and tolerating it. It's good enough that I can probably stop searching. I hope it'll be helpful to you who may be going through the same purchasing decision nausea as I have. Basic Indoor Antenna - Antenna - Hdtv Antenna - Tv Antenna - Rca'

Camera Cases - compact digital camera case, camera cases

I have the Canon Powershot SD890 and this case fits like a glove. The little interior pocket fits a spare battery and memory card. Perfect case cause it's not bulky and it keeps my camera safe from scratches and bumps while fitting into my purse. Case is well made and a great price.

Micro Dot pattern is very cute and the inside is bright red. Would definitely recommend to a friend. Built E-SSC-MDT Soft-Shell Camera Case (Micro Dot)

This case is a perfect fit for my Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3. Normally, I do not like Built products because they design many of their products with extra wasted space -- wide corners - which looks cool but not practical. This case is one exception -- it is actually nice to have the slightly extra wide corners to help slide the camera into place -- the camera is slighly wider on one end, so it is a perfect fit.

The case also has an pocket inside that you can slide extra memory cards or batteries into. Perfect!

The only thing I wish it had was a loop on the outside to hook a carabiner clip to - so that I can clip it to my backpack or purse. I also wish there were other colors or pattern choices. (Black is too boring, pink is too bright and clashes with my red camera, the dots is cute and fun but definitely girlish)

I bought this for my Lumix DMC-ZS5. Although I can get it in, it's too tight to slip in and out quickly. My wife has a thinner Casio, so she got it. In my opinion this case is best suited for cameras that are relatively thin. My LUMIX has a protruding lens and grip which make this case just a bit tight for my liking.

I have a Nikon Coolpix camera that fits very well into this case. There's even some extra room in there for additional memory cards, batteries, or if you want to put a couple credit/debit cards or cash in there if you're going to be somewhere where you're taking your camera but also might need some $$ and dont want to carry your purse as well. It has a pretty good firmness for being a soft shell. Seems to be very well made. The zipper is a little funny as it starts from the back of the case, comes up around and over and ends in back behind the case again, but no biggie. The colors are more vibrant in real life than I was expecting which is great because I love bright colorful things!

We bought this item for a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3. The zipper opening is smaller than the camera itself. The pouch is made of flex material that with a a slight stretch, you can get the camera in and out. The actual pouch size fits the camera, it's the way the zipper opens that reduces the opening size. Otherwise the pouch is great. - Camera Case - Camera Cases - Compact Digital Camera Case - Blueproton'

audio splitter - audio splitter

I liked the idea that it didn't contain lead, but sad to say- within a week, the sound through both headphone ears became intermitent and only worked after I adjusted it and even after that, I had to make sure I didn't move and knock it out of place. CTA Digital 3.5-mm Headphone Splitter for iPod and MP3 Players (White)

This splitter is great for use with portable DVD players/Music players. The size is right and the color is nice if you're using white devices with white cords. At this price you can't complain too much.

One thing to keep in mind, and this is true of all splitters like this one, it will reduce the power to each set of headphones and in turn reduce the volume. Keep this in mind if you plan on using a big set of cans that would otherwise need a lot of power to drive.

Unfortunately, depending on the type of case you have on your iPod or iPhone, you cannot use the splitter without removing the case. The casing around the jack is too thick to easily fit with all cases. Works just fine if you don't have a case, but I think most users have some sort of case for protection. - Audio Splitter'

Faucet Water Filter - faucet water filters, brita

Brita and Pur faucet filters don't last. The Brita handle becomes impossible to turn. The Pur broke soon after installing it. Water trickles from both Brita and Pur faucet filters. Water flow from the WaterPik faucet filter is strong. The filtering mechanism automatically turns off when the water flow stops & the lever is easy to move.

As is typical (unfortunately) with on-tap water filters, and threaded parts seem to be made of soft plastic. This unit was fine the first day, but after using it for a week or so, the leaks began, spraying water in all directions whenever you try to use filter. And if you bump the filter, it falls off the faucet. I didn't even get through the first filter before I had to give it up as a bad job.

Don't get this one. It's as bad as the Brita.

Check the reviews for the Amazon product Instapure F-8 White Water Filter System

at the associated link (WaterPik just adds its name and boosts the price). It looks like this faucet attached system has the same problem as all the BRITA and PUR faucet attached systems ... the faucet attachment is not robust and starts leaking after a couple months of normal usage.

Ipod Touch Microphone - ipod accessories, ipod touch

I have an iPod Touch 2G. Got this to record my stand-up classes and ended up using it for interviews as well. Great recording quality, easy to use.

You do need to purchase the iTalk premium app ($2 or so) and make sure you download Italk Sync to your computer.

Great quality, even in less than stellar rooms with lots of background noise.

Can't go wrong with this, esp considering the price.

Only drawback: you can't listen to it while you're recording because it uses the headphone jack. But, I just set it and forget it until I'm done recording.

Then I sync with my Mac and open with iTunes. Done. I've even dropped it into Bias Peak and other audio editing programs so I could send portions of the audio to classmates.

All very convenient and quick. Mini Microphone for iPhone 3G/iPod/touch/classic

I am using a non jailbroken 3G 64GB Ipod Touch and I can confirm that Skype works. Both the mic and the speaker can work at the same time, I believe Skype is the only application where this is possible. You make calls via speaker phone at all times, there is no option to keep the phone close to your head. This is simply because of the design of the device and the only way you can use voip. The build quality is very good, and there is no reason to purchase a competitor's mic which will cost 300% the price of this one. At less than $5, every single person with an ipod touch immediately needs to get this mic so that they can start making ridiculously cheap voip calls on an ipod of all things.

Edit: So I have been using Skype and this mic for a while now, and they work well most of the time. I have had several 30min-1hr conversations while other people were driving on the highway etc and they all remarked that the call quality was good. However, there are some people who I seem to go straight to voicemail, which I do not understand. So far this is only one person, but as he is using an AT&T iphone, I am not sure the problem. I have gotten a skype number and unlimited calling for 1 year plus voicemail for only $60. The touch can ring when other people call if skype is open or in the background. You are now able to jailbreak the latest 3.1.3 firmware so running skype in the background is easily doable. To run apps in the background, download backgrounder. To keep wifi on all the time, download insomnia.

If the mic is plugged in, however, you will hear no ring. You could keep the mic unplugged and connect it whenever you receive a call, but this obviously sucks. I suspect there will be some fix to this relatively soon, but this is so far the biggest roadblock in using the ipod touch as my main phone. Another downside is that receiving texts to your skype number is not as easy as simply texting to that number. Google voice, which is semi out now, does not have this problem. In any case, its worth paying $30 to get unlim calls for a year without the online number right now. Sending texts via skype is also somewhat expensive at 11 cents. On my jailbroken iphone that i use with tmobile, I only pay 10cents per text on a prepaid plan.

I used it for 3 meetings in a single day to do some basic recording for later review. Sadly when I tried to pull it out of the iPod the 3rd time the outside case came off in my hand. I would not buy this if I were you. Spend the extra money and get a quality product.

I thought this would be a nifty device to not only use for recording but also perhaps as a microphone for live chat on Skype using my iPod Touch g2. Unfortunately (unless I am doing something incorrectly with the plug in of this device), since it is plugged into the ONLY mini jack on the iPod it seems to record but while the device remains plugged in it cancels the sound, so you cannot hear what you just recorded unless you remove the device first. And so maybe a Skype conversation would be one way unless you removed the device between sentences "walky-talky" style. "Over...." Not an option. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

As far as the footprint of the mic, I take ALOT of vitimin supplements. I'm a bit scared this will go down the hatch some morning when I'm not paying attention!

updated review October 2009: I changed my stars from 5 to 1. The mic is not working anymore. I don't understand why. I take good care of my ipod and the mic and both experience regular wear and tear. It occupies memory space in my iPod but, there is no audio. Warning: Buy item at your own risk. You get what you pay for!

In Sept 2009 I said"It's cute. It's functional. I use it to record lectures with my ipod classic. It works great. I plug in my ipod to charge and the lectures go straight into my voice memos folder in iTunes. The downside is, the battery usage. Once I 'turn on' the voice recorder mode in my ipod, it totally drains the battery much faster than when I use my iPod to play regular songs. There's a little lag and also some freezing that happens on occasion, but not enough to bother me, since I paid less than five bucks for the gadget."

I was going to buy a $50 digital voice recorder, the olympus ws 400 s.

But after purchasing the recorder iphone app ($1) and purchasing this microphone attachment ($4), i have saved $50 and now i have a recorder that is just as good as olympus ws 400s and even better.

The recorder app + iphone + $4 microphone can:

1. transfer files to my computer via wifi or email,

2. can record phone calls,

3. i can see the level of the recording with the on screen display of the app,

4. you can edit the recording (trim at specific points,

5. no need for another device because its an app in your phone.

I will post a picture of the microphone attached to the iphone running the recorder app.

This is one of the few accessories you should need for your iPod Touch, not sure why Apple didn't spend another 15 cents and include a built-in mic.

This is a nice little mic, it plugs into the 1/8" headphone/mic jack on the bottom of your iPod Touch and enables the Voice Memos app that ships with the iTouch to work. You could also use the mic on the earbuds included with the iTouch, but I don't usually have those handy. I purchased this mic primarily for Shazam, the app that can identify a song just by hearing a bit of it, and it works well for that.

As others have no doubt noted, when this mic is plugged in you can't use the headphone port. This isn't usually a problem for me.

I have a vinyl case/bag for my iTouch and just leave this mic in the bottom so I'll have it with me when needed. With the protective cover on the silver part of the mic it is well protected. - Ipod Accessories - Ipod Touch - Microphone - Ipod Touch Microphone'

Inkjet Printer Ink - photosmart c6380, hewlett-packard

I purchased my printer in February 2009 and I believe that I have had to replace the regular size black ink cartridge at least three times. I would say that my print load is average. This time (the third time) I decided to get the XL size. I put it in April 10th and now (May 10th) the ink level is at 3/4. I am sure that with the regular size catridge I would be getting ready to change the cartridge again. I also like that the price via amazon was significantly cheaper than purchasing from staples or target. And it arrived quickly. I recommend using the XL no matter what, so that you don't have to change so often. I also recommend this vendor based on my experience with them. HP 564XL Black Ink Cartridge in Retail Packaging (CB321WN#140)

The starter cartridges that came with my HP C309a All-In-One were the standard 564 cartridges, which only lasted a couple weeks -- and I don't even print that much. I replaced the regular black cartridge with a 564XL, and even after a couple weeks of my usual (occasional) printing, the ink gauge is still at around 85%.

HP inks aren't cheap, but even worse is having to buy them so frequently -- I usually run out right before I need to print something important. The XL cartridge is a good value and lasts a good long time. This should be the standard HP inkjet cartridge.

The biggest complaint for personal inkjets is well.. ink. It's always expensive and you feel like you are spending the lionshare of your purchase on the fancy packaging and plastic delivery mechanism. We use our printer for casual use and a decent amount of photo 4x6 printing. These XL inks definitely last longer than the std versions that shipped with the printer, and yellow always seems to go first. But they work as advertised, and never last as long as you want them to. We've had our printer for 2 years and replaced inks once a year now.

The colors seem to pop when using the special 4x6 papers and drying time is very fast. I haven't seen any fading in pictures that were printed 2 yrs ago with these inks, and they are advertised to not fade, so i guess its working as advertised.

Office Depot and Office Max sell the 564XL for $10.00 less than what Amazon.com charges. At the time of review this ink cartridge cost ($32.00). I wish I had checked those places earlier than buying from Amazon

This is a warning to buyers of this product. First HP has changed the size of this cartridge, it is now half the size that it was a few months ago, so if you buy it you are now getting half as much ink as you used to. Second none of the sellers of this product on the Amazon website are advising buyers about the fact that you are now paying and will be receiving a cartridge that is half the size of the old one. Third if you want the best price deal it is no longer on Amazon but rather HP is now selling it directly from its own website at a considerably cheaper price.

I ordered HP black cartirdges from this site and was charged 2x the now "new" HP price for cartridges that print half as much!

I returned the cartridges and have not heard a word from the seller. HP holds us hostage to overpricing and now things are worse.

HP ripped us off again. Smaller size cartridge lasts less then 1/2 as long as the bigger fuller cartridge which was made for my printer when this printer first came out. Dumping HP and moving on.....

I find it very strange that this HP-564XL black inkjet printer cartridge is going for $30.93 on Amazon. I was at Best Buy only a few hours ago earlier tonight, and this very item is selling for $17.99 there, and it's not even on sale at that store. None of the items at Best Buy were marked for sale or on sale this week or in any other way discounted. All of the 564XL cartridges are going for $17.99 at Best Buy. I repeat, none of them were on sale. The cardboard retail packaging is exactly the same as pictured here. (These prices at Best Buy don't include the sales tax yet.) I thought Amazon was supposed to be cheaper, not more expensive. Am I missing something here?

My experience with 564XL Black has been fine so far, no issues at all, my five stars are for the quality of this cartridge and have nothing to do with Amazon or Amazon's pricing of this cartridge. - 564xl - Inkjet Printer Ink - Hewlett-packard - Photosmart C6380'

Media Storage - cd storage, cd case

I just received the CityGear case that holds 320 CD/DVD. Don't let the few that have down-graded or complained in these reviews steer you away. I've owned many cases over the years and this is quite fine. First, Targus provides a lifetime warranty - within reasonable limits. Second, if you can get this item for $30 or less then your getting a fair deal. I would say this is very similar to the Case Logic CD/DVD holder - I have many. It has a quality zipper, high quality holder with top flap, and excellent stitching so your case does not fall apart. The outside looks nice. The only negative is the handle which is a hard plastic. I prefer strong material but is the least important aspect of the case and my personal preference - not a big deal. Hope this helps you. Targus CityGear 320 Capacity CD/DVD Album Case TDP019US (Black with Grey Contrasting)

I needed a case to gather my DVD collection which are over 150. This case is very strong. The outside is very elegant and the pockets are very thick and hold the DVDs well. Flipping through the DVDs the best thing ever. The DVD pockets are divided in such a way so that on maximum capacity they look like an elegant encyclopedia WITHOUT piling up & being difficult to flip through. I bought colourful separation tags that I stick to the pages to create different "sections" since I have such a bid collection. Would definely buy another one or two very soon for my next collection.

I bought this because I ran out of room with our old Slappa case. I used it for all my son's DVD's. It is nice looking and seemed sturdy enough. Compare it to the Slappa cases and it is inferior. It is hard to open and shut. The flap around the zipper when you open the case is cumbersome and gets in the way. Sometimes we would be in and out of the case 10 times in one day and it just wasn't worth the annoyance of how difficult it was to open and shut.

Ultimately I ordered a bigger Slappa case because the sturdiness of the outside and how easy it is to get in and out of. The one thing I don't like about the Slappa cases is a positive for the Citygear. The Citygears 320 capacity holds one dvd per pouch and you can see the DVD. The Slappa cases have 2 slots one for the album cover and one behind for the CD. Since I am using the case for DVD's that feature is useless and it takes away from its capacity since I need to see the DVD's. I don't store any in the 2nd slot. So if you don't plan on using this case multiple times during the day and it is mostly for storage than it serves its purpose.

I was very please with the quality and design. It holds far more disks then the other cases I have and inserting them into the sleaves is easy. When you're looking for a selection you have 8 disks showing as you turn a page instead of 2 or 4 like the smaller cases. I would buy this item again if the need comes up. Thanks for the good price and service Amazon.com!

Citygear, also known as Targus has ruined over $6080 worth of my dvds.

After just filling up the last slot of my case, i play one of the older dvds i had put in it and found it froze and ultimately couldn't be played. I look at the disk, and notice a small round curve of blotches of smudge/scratches on the top of the disk. I look at my other disks, and notice to my horror... all my disks have this same round scratchy edge. I try and play a few of them.. and they are all messed up. Most of my disks are burned copies, and even the authentic dvds have the scratches and cannot play.

I know for a fact the top plastic flap is what has ruined my disks, as every time you take a dvd out or in the top flap scratches at the top of the disk. I even tested this with a perfect, non-scratched new dvd-r, and after taking it in and out it had the same markings. I've looked at different reviews from citygear/targus cd holders and found people are having the same problem.

You have no idea how upset i am.. I am NEVER, EVER buying from this company again. All my movies are destroyed, and movies are my life. I feel like killing myself. Do yourself a favor, and please, please never buy this cd/dvd case.

(I have the 320 disk capacity model, which is the same as this one)

Citygear, also known as Targus has ruined over $6080 worth of my dvds.

Desktop Switch - switch, networking

Bought one of these for under $15. I have a powerline Ethernet adapter connected to my router. On the other end of the second powerline adapter (which uses your house electrical wiring), I connected this switch. To the switch, I connected my DirecTV DVR and also an Ethernet to USB adapter to connect to my series 2 TiVo (which only has a USB connection). Everything works perfectly. No configuration needed (obviously, couldn't do it when connecting to non-computer devices). It just works. Both the DirectTV DVR and TiVo DVR work fine, simultaneously! D-Link DES-1105 5-Port 10/100 Desktop Switch

I Bought this at Fry's for under $20. and it works great I have my slingbox, Directv DVR and Xbox connected to it and all work great with no lag I have a cable modem (6MBPS D/L 512KBPS U/l )and a wireless router connected in font of it it is an excellent product

This is my third purchase of the D-Link "Green" series switches. My third purchase not due to defects, but because they are such great products.

These switches are EXTREMELY easy to set up, work as advertised, and save energy over other 'regular' switches to boot! It has auto sensing ports, so they are easy to link together and it 'just works'. My only complaint would be they get a tad warm... but what electronic device doesn't?

I would recommend this switch and this entire series to anyone.

I am very happy with this DLINK switch. I purchased it to extend my home network for an XBOX 360 and another needed port for my new DirecTV receiver.

Price was great!

The product worked out of the box. It was as easy as plugging in the power and the network cables... works like a charm.

Great for the price. I purchased this when I needed to add a connection for my blu-ray player. I have a wireless router in the office. I use an electrical ethernet connection to get the ethernet signal to my Family room where I needed to connect my DirecTV and the new Samsung Blu-Ray player. I hooked this up in the Family room and connected the two boxes to the switch. That was it. Nothing to set up or configure, it just worked. Both units have Internet access and work great. My only confusion was that it stated it was a five port switch. Well you need one port for the input signal that leaves you with 4 outputs. Fine for me but it was a little confusing at first.

Have had this product for a month now, and I have to say it does a pretty decent job.

Installation was straight forward just plug in the required devices power them up & that's it, no configurations needed.

My biggest problem thou; is while surfing the web on Vista with this device connect I would lose connection via web browser, (can still use skype, yahoo, msn), which is weird. I don't get this issue while using Windows XP, or linux.

All in all I would say that if you are looking for a low cost switch to connect like an xbox 360, PS3/2, etc, with a PC this is for you.

I had no problems installing and using this switch. I have a wired network in my home and needed to expand ports in my living room. I had used an earlier switch from D-link in my office upstairs and it worked fine so I decided to use D-link again. I would recommend this product for wired network users. Wireless may be quick and easy but wired is secure. - Networking - D-link - Switch - Network Switch'

Contact Grills - cuisinart, kitchen wishes

I love this grill. Yes, it's big, but for a family of four that's good. Problem? The non-stick surface is beginning to bubble after only 9 months of light use. At first, I thought it was just food left on the grill, but, alas, it is the surface coming away. It might be possible to make the grill last another year or so, if one were careful, but I don't think this should happen so soon. I don't think I have used it more than 25 times. I have sent an email to Breville asking for information on returns/repairs. I'll update this post after they respond (assuming they do).

UPDATE:

I contacted Breville via email, and they promptly replied with information on how to send it back. Assuming they concur with my assessment of the bubbling problem, I should receive a replacement. Can't ask for better customer service than that! A+

The 800RXL is a "manly" grill that will be enjoyed by all. However, know that it is large in size and that that is both an advantage and a disadvantage. For a small person, man or woman it might be a handful to lift and store. That being said, it is a wonderful kitchen appliance. It both looks and works great. The tiltable bottom plate is a very nice feature as is the adjustable top plates ability to lock at verious hights so as not to squash more delicate items.

It takes a few minutes to warm up and to cool down, but that is not surpizing given the size of the grill. The timer works well but is mechanical and sounds like an old fashion kitchen timer and it does not stop or start the cooking process. This grill iteself gets hot enough to sear meat nicely and yet folds out flat to grill and griddle at the same time.

I am impressed with the Breville quality and inclined to purchase the brand in the future. An extremey well made grill. Easy to clean. Easy to use.

I regret that the plates are not reversible, and that with this grill you are always limited to one side a grill, one side a flat griddle. Good thing it is so large. But if the plates were reversible, this thing would really deliver the goods. As it is, excellent quality, good looks, good performance (fast!), and feels like it will last me years.

Better plan on giving it counter space, this thing is heavy - too much to be lugging in and out of cupboards for as often as you'll want to us it.

I wish I could recommend the Breville Grill because while it worked, this was a great machine.

In the world of indoor grills, those that open flat give you twice the grilling area. The GRXL 800 does open flat giving you both flat and ridged surfaces at the same time. The non-stick grilling surface is huge, (the biggest in it's class). The top and bottom plates are designed to drain grease away from your meal into a single slide-out tray tray (though I can't say that it always worked when opened flat).

This unit made fantastic steaks and chicken and veggies and makes a pancake breakfast a cinch, and of course, perfect paninis. It cooks evenly from corner to corner and stays true to the temperature it's set at. The power source has a unique design that makes it incredibly easy to unplug; the cord is very sturdy and extra long, giving you a good deal of flexibility in where you lay this 22 pound powerhouse. There is also a handy lock built into the handle that doubles as a brace to hold up the lid if you don't want it touching your meal when the lid is closed.

The controls are basic; an on/off button with a single red LED, a temperature control, a timer (just a timer, it doesn't turn the unit off when the cycle is compelted), and a tilt control. The knobs are all large, making it easy to dial if you have wet fingers. The tilt control allows the bottom plate to lay flat (for sandwiches, pancakes) or tilt forward (so that grease and juices can drain into the tray).

Unfortunately, Breville only provides a 1-year manufacturer's warranty. I never dreamed that I'd need it, as the grill felt sturdy and well built. After just 15 months though, it completely failed to turn on. For about $180, I expected more. Luckily, I had buyer's protection on my credit card that doubled the warranty, so I was able to replace it with the Cuisinart Griddler... which also opens flat but has interchangable plates and a much more generous 3-year warranty.

Added Feb 24 08:

Finally I was contacted by a Breville rep that seemed interested in what I had to say and we covered this review point by point. BUT: at no time did he express any concern that he had a VERY dissatisfied customer on his hands. Two "Goods" that I should have mentioned are the "Briefcase Storage" and the finger hole in the plug (both most clever and useful ideas). And after a few days the "Boa Constrictor" cord relaxed noticeably, a good thing.

Breville800GRXL: The Good, The Bad, . . .

First: am I the only person in the cosmos that notices shortcomings in design and execution?

The Good:

1. Solid, seems well-made.

2. Seems to heat more evenly than most.

3. Does a good job of cooking (caveat: see 2 & 3 below)

4. Fantastic for cooking several full slices of bacon at one time (five large strips).

5. Would you believe? It does frozen fries quite well.

6. Grease recovery design is very good, quite clever even. BUT: if you have to empty the drip pan in the middle of a long cooking session, be sure to put paper towels under the drip area. A spout (a la teakettle) on the rear would be most helpful.

The Bad:

1. Not nearly so non-stick as the hype claims (rather poor compared to some other non-stick cookware that I use). Can be quite difficult to clean. If the top surface is allowed to touch an egg, the egg will stick to it (when you lift the top surface, the egg will go with it ("hang from the ceiling"). I have even had bacon stick and lift in this manner. "Incredibly easy to clean" is a stratospheric flight of fancy. Well, I guess there's hype and then there's "hype."

2. Cooking surfaces won't stay parallel (unless you manually hold it for the duration - and if you let go you may screw up the food).

3. "Thickness" adjustments are balky/klunky/iffy. And the adjustment control can get too hot to touch.

4. "Thickness" adjustments are too coarse (ie, you can't make fine adjustments for food thickness). It's a case of (usually) too much or too little.

5. The leveling handle (top right) and height slider can get too hot to touch.

6. You just about have to get on your knees to read the control panel.

7. The top surface, if allowed full weight against a burger, doesn't put "stripes," it puts ditches. Here's an instance where parallel surfaces and fine adjustment are really needed. And note: a 1-1/2" thick sandwich will be squished to 1/2" at the top, 3/4" at the bottom. And have ditches, not stripes. DO NOTE: it's advertised that the height control gives "precise" control for paninis and delicate fish. There's nothing precise or delicate about height (thickness) adjustment increments of 1/2" and crushing weight.

The Ugly:

1. Drips grease on the counter behind the unit (a BIG mess, the more you cook the bigger the mess).

2. Messy to clean because it is so difficult.

3. To clean it at all, it must be hot enough that it will BURN you.

4. Overall, it is NOT user-friendly; too many things that it should do but doesn't. One example: having to manually hold settings is not acceptable, especially when the leveling handle gets too hot to touch.

5. The cord is packaged (as all usually are) so that it has a "set" like a Boa Constrictor. Python? It would be SO easy to do better.

I always wonder: do the people that design things such as this ever take them for a test drive before putting them on the market?

If the manufacturer would correct the deficiencies, this would be a fantastic product.

Added Feb 4 08:

Two weeks prior to writing this review, I talked to Breville CS. The lady was very personable and her overall response to all the above complaints was "Gee, that's too bad." I was promised a follow-up call which I never did get, so I wrote this review and sent a copy (email) to Breville. I got what I perceive to be a sarcastic one- sentence brush-off from Jomal Bush ("Is there anything I can do to assist you at this time?"). Note: IT HAD ALREADY BEEN MADE CLEAR to me that Breville had NO INTEREST in any corrective action of any kind.

And, it seems, customer comments or suggestions are of no interest or value. - Grill - Kitchen Wishes - Contact Grills - Panini Grill - Breville - Cuisinart'

Gang Recessed Plate

This is a great product! But if you are running a lot of wires, like I did, then I recommend you buy the double gang plate. I ran my surround sound(12 gauge), 3 HDMI cables, 1 TOS link, 1 coax, and 1 Cat 6 cable and barely had enough room.

Someone mentioned that you cannot do this without having back access or a new build. That is false. Just need to take your time when cutting the wall and boring through the studs. DataComm 45-0001-WH 1-Gang Recessed Low Voltage Cable Plate (White)

I mounted a TV on the wall of my kitchen and was looking for an inexpensive way to hide the wires. This is ideal.

It's simple to install. You just need two of these and two low voltage brackets like this: Arlington LV1-1CS Single Gang Low Voltage Mounting Bracket Device You use a stud finder to make sure you're not looking to put this in a stud, and then use a drywall saw to cut the hole. Repeat to put the one down below. (Use a level to ensure they're straight.) Insert the low voltage mounting bracket in both the upper and lower and then put the plate on the upper one. Start fishing cables through the wall. (It's easier to leave the plate off the lower one until you fish all the wires out of the wall first.)

Through a one-gang plate, I have an HDMI cable, a VGA cable, a set of composite cables with sound, a 1/8" headphone jack cable, and a network cable. It's tight, but everything fits.

Order these plates. You won't be disappointed.

This is a simple cover plate for a wall hole that provides a neat, orderly way to feed cables from your Home Theater system into the wall, or out of the wall at the TV Monitor location. It lets you buy one, long set of cables, rather than one set for inside the wall and two patch sets for home theater receiver to the wall, and wall to TV monitor. If you have more than one type of connection, this will make your install much less expensive!

Things to know:

1. You will need TWO, if you are going to use a single set of cables!

2. You will need a old-work, low-power wall box for each one purchased. You can get these for $1-3 each (depending on style) at your local "Big-Box" hardware store. (Check both the electrical area and the home networking areas to find both styles.)

3. When planning your installation, recognize that the clump of wires coming out of the wall will not make many wives happy! Plan to have both boxes hidden by the TV or Home theater cabinet.

4. If moving connections horzintally from one wall location to another, you are likely to run into one or more studs. If you do not have experience with blind drilling large holes, you will be much happier taking the cables into the attic or crawl space in one stud space, and back into the wall at the new stud space.

The product is as shown. It's bright white, sleek, with a nice sized, deep opening to send many wires through. I have 5-14 gauge wires and an HDMI cord running through mine with plenty of room to spare. (Uses about 1/2 the space available.)

The down side: it is only the face plate with no mounting bracket. so to mount it to stay on the wall, you either need an outlet box, or buy the metal low voltage mounting brackets at Home Depot for about $1/ea. However, it is still cheaper than buying the whole assembly at Home Depot for 3x the price.

[...]

What can you really say about a cable plate? Apparently enough to warrant a review! This is THE item you need to finish off your wall-mount tv installation. I purchased two of these, one to go behind the tv, and the other at the level of the power outlet below. It's easy as pie.

If you're doing a wiring job where you have bare wires going through a wall, this is the thing to get. Looks great. I did a speaker wire installation and wanted the wires come out of the wall directly and this was the perfect way to do that.'

Surge Protection - surge protection, power protection

I had a power surge in my house. The only thing items that got damaged were the ones on this surge protector. It made loud pops, smoked, and arced until I unplugged it. I called file a claim but the policy is such that

1) you only get reimbursed for the value you could resell your damaged products before the damage occurred

2) you have to go to a repair store (lugging your tv and electronics) and pay the repair store to give you a quote ($40 fee) just to have a chance at a refund

3) you have to pay to mail back your surge protector

4) Belkin may request you to mail your damaged devices for them to check at your own cost (seriously, mail my dead tv?!?)

After multiple phone calls with Belkin (whose customer service is polite), I've come to the following conclusions. This is a scam. The $5 surge protectors did their job. My laptops were fine. The expensive surge protector made a mess, let my equipment get toasted and resulted in a lot of hassle that didn't even help me get a replacement tv.

I wouldn't recommend this to an enemy! Belkin BE112230-08 12-Outlet Home/Office Surge Protector with Telephone and Coaxial Protection

There are a lot of reviews on this product, but I had to add mine. After lightning struck a tree next to our house, our neighbors suffered several appliance failures, including a blown TV. Ours, including our computer survived (plugged into one of these). More amazingly, the outlet this was plugged into blew out of the wall, frying the protector, the TV lost its color for 3 days, but then popped back in and we are still using it. Our electrician says, he's never seen anything like it, but he's recommending this surge protector now.

Good, clean design and layout. Flexible enough to accommodate up to 6 power bricks without blocking the other outlets (4 on the wide face, 2 more on the ends of the narrow face). A "Not Grounded" warning light is a great feature that provides additional peace of mind.

I mounted it on the underside of my desk to get all the wires off the floor. The thoughtful design extends to the keyhole for screw mounting which gives you the option of forward or sideways engagement. It works even better when upside down because the cables hang down instead of draping over.

On the quality side, the on/off switch feels flimsy, and 3 prong, grounded plugs take some effort to pull back out. Belkin probably figured these actions aren't frequent enough to warrant complaint, i.e. most people just plug in, switch on, and forget about it for the next three years, and cost reduced these components to keep the price down. It's a good compromise. I'm very pleased with the product and the price!

I had a lightning strike near my house which wiped out my router, network switch, and motherboard-based network adapter. I had a UPS so assumed I was safe but it looks like I got a voltage spike on my cable tv line which then spread from the router to my ethernet cable. Now, my cable, ethernet, and power connectors are all protected should such a thing ever happen again! Plus, the wide spacing of the outside outlets on this Belkin surge protector allow me to connect all my network gear, two computers and monitors, and my entertainment center. I did considerable research before selecting this surge supressor and am very satisfied.
