Framing Nails - 2009 amazon frustration-fre, porter-cable

Woo-hoo! Nails! I'm hardly a connoisseur of fasteners, but these nails worked just fine for me when I was nailing down deck boards. I don't recall any mis-fires that were caused by the nails (they were all my fault). The corrosion resistance seems good, too - a year later, the heads are still nice and shiny (I used the nails at a camp in the Adirondacks). So my advice is to try a 500-pack to see if you like them, and then load up on 'em if you do. B and C Eagle A238X113HDR/22 2-3/8-by-0.113-Inch 20-to-22-Degree Round Head Plastic Collated Hot Dipped Galvanized Ring Shank Framing Nail, 500-Per Box

For the DIY homeowner, who owns a power framing nailer , it's difficult to find compatable collated nails , in reasonable quantities , at local building suppy stores. Most stores only stock limited nail types, and usually in large quantities ( 10,000+ nail/ boxes ). Thru Amazon , I was able to purchase the relatively small quantity (500 ) of the specific type of nails I needed , at a reasonable price. The free shipping feature made the cost comparable to what I would have had to pay at the so called " Discount Building Supply Chains "-- and I didn't have to buy a lifetime supply size quanity. Amazon had a tremendous amount of ; sizes, types ,and quantities available--with excellent product descriptions.

I got these for nailing 1/2 inch CDX plywood sheathing for a small shed. On the most part they worked well, but occasionally at the end of a sheet the feed would jam up requiring to slide back the spring lock, adjust the nails and release. I didn't have this problem with the larger 3 1/2 inch nails of the same manufacturer. These smaller nails also didn't survive shipping quite as well and so there were some nails that broke off the sheets and couldn't be used. I would use them again regardless.

While I can't disagree about the quality of these nails, I am disappointed in the cost, considering the small quantity. Locally, 2500 nails cost about $30.00 to $40.00; for less than $10.00, these would be worth trying. These would be better offered as a "sample pack" for a lower price.

I had to add $14.00 for shipping, making the cost not worth it (I wish Amazon would offer more shipping options, beside UPS).

I have to agree with everyone on cost. Way too much for 500 nails, but what are you gonna do if you got to have them. I bought some 31/2" back in 2005 and they cost a lot also, $34.00 for 500. Since Amazon is the one selling these nails, I have to ding them on the price, even with Free Shipping. # rating because of cost. Have not tried them yet, but they better work real well.... - Bills - Porter-cable - 2009 Amazon Frustration-fre'

Usb To Sata - usb hard drive adapter, usb

I couldn't get this device to work under Mac OS X or WindowsXP, gave up and called for a return authorization...but the support person told me this: For IDE drives, the drive's jumpers MUST be set to "MASTER" (not cable select), UNLESS the brand is Western Digital, in which case the jumpers must be set to "SINGLE" (i.e. remove all jumpers). Sure enough, it worked after that! Hope this helps someone else. Sabrent USB-DSC5 Serial ATA or IDE 2.5-/3.5-Inch to USB 2.0 Cable Converter Adapter with Power Supply

I'm nonplussed at reviews mentioning how it's being used as a full-time connector for a SATA or IDE drive. It's clearly not aimed at that market at all. This is a kit designed for rescue/ recovery operations of someone else's HDD. Case in point: me.

I wrecked the partition table of my primary work HDD. All in-situ attempts failed, so I brought the laptop home, mounted the HDD to my SATA cable kit, and ran the excellent TestDisk tool from Christophe Grenier. My partition table recovered, I wrote it to disk and bright the HDD back into the laptop. I'm back up and writing this from the work laptop now (don't say anything).

I would never look at this complex jumble of wires and adapters and think "well, I'll just hook it up and let it go for a few years". No, sorry, incorrect application, despite the instruction manual showing you how to do it. This is a stripped-down kit designed to travel with your rescue ops laptop when making a house call, like to Grandma's PC. I find it's easier to run virus scanning, defrag, etc when the HDD is controlled by my known-good laptop.

I withheld a fifth star because it's a complex mess of wires. I don't know how one could make it look elegant and preserve its functionality, but whoever can do it merits the fifth star. Wholly recommended product for rescue operations.

-Fred

This is not meant to be a long-term, set it on your desk, solution. Its a quick cable to transfer data off a hard drive or between hard drives for an upgrade. I've used this with SATA, IDE and laptop IDE. All worked great. I was able to plug the USB device into either my Windows or Mac computers. Very happy with this product!

Its great for cases where a laptop gets destroyed, yet the hard drive is fine. I know someone who spilled water on their laptop, and pretty much fried it. But the hard drive was fine. Using this device I copied the hard drive files to her new computers.

I've owned devices in the past that can do this, but the 3-in one interface setup is awesome.

Kudos to the other reviewer who pointed out the difference between Western Digital Drives and others. The instructions make NO mention of this at all.

Here is the step by step procedure that I followed and it worked perfectly on a Win XP machine:

1. Attach the power supply to an outlet and plug into the hard drive's 4-pin power receptacle.

2. Attach the IDE adapter to the hard drive.

3. Plug the USB into the computer.

If you plug the USB in first, then the IDE to the drive, you have to take the USB out and plug it back in for it to recognize the drive.

Drive select should be Master for drives other than Western Digital.

No jumper at all for Western Digital devices.

4 stars for the stupid instructions and complete lack of website mention of this as well. Other than that it works fine.

I tried using this adapter with two SATA hard drives and experienced errors on Windows XP SP2 (fully patched).

The first time I was copying about 120GB of data to a 160GB Samsung hard drive. About 20GB into the transfer Windows gave me a bunch of "delayed write" errors and said the written data may be corrupt.

The second time I was using Western Digital's diagnostic utility to zero-out a WD 500GB hard drive. This failed about 10% into the operation with strange write errors that I attribute to this adapater.

Fortunately I had another adapter, the "Sabrent Serial ATA (SATA) to USB 2.0 Cable Converter," which is a very similar adapter except that it only supports SATA and not IDE. I repeated both operations with the SATA-only adapater and everything worked. I had no trouble coping all my data to the 160GB Samsung drive and I successfully zeroed my 500GB Western Digital drive. Since the only difference in configuration between the failed attempts and the successful ones was the adapter I used, I can only conclude that this particular adapter caused the failures the first time.

So while I can't endorse this particular adapter, if all you need is SATA support, then I highly recommend the similar Sabrent Serial ATA (SATA) to USB 2.0 Cable Converter.

what makes this better than other ones i've seen in its class is that it has lights. the adapter will tell you when the hard drive is connected via USB successfully. it also tells you if there is hard disk activity on the IDE or SATA hard drive. I don't use the 1.8-inch hard drive feature, but I'm glad its there if I ever need it. I might need to rescue my iPod hard drive one day! It works great on my old iMac running Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). - Ide Adapter - Usb Hard Drive Adapter - Usb To Sata - Usb'

Tilting Wall Mount - lcd mount, lcd wall mount

We have installed (2) of these mounts. (1) on a 26" LCD and (1) on a 32" LCD. Both installations were easy, with the product meeting expectations. The second mount we installed was missing a couple of minor parts so I sent a quick e-mail to Cheetah mounts. An hour later, I had the 2nd day air tracking number for the remaining parts. While it was frustrating to be missing the parts, I was amazed by the quick response. Cheetah Mounts ALAMLB LCD TV Wall Mount Bracket with Full Motion Swing Out Tilt and Swivel Articulating Arm

I like this mount. It is strong and holds a 30" TV no problem. The extension is very nice and the tilt helps with the glare from the dome light in the ceiling. It can turn all the way to the side and lets the TV face the kitchen counter. Our TV used the inside holes which are VESA 100 but it has wider holes as well so we could use it for a larger TV in the future. A torpedo shaped level comes with it which is now a nice addition to the tool drawer. Basically really liked it. The only issue is the TV being level. The TV tilts just slightly to the right. Enough to bother me. Only annoyance on an otherwise good product.

Update: I called Cheetah about the TV not being level. It turns out the screw behind the TV which controls the tilt Also allows the TV to twist a little. Now our TV is level!

We just mounted a 26" LCD and this mount worked perfectly. Well constructed and super easy to install. Before purchasing I called the company to verify the TV would work with this mount, I was only on hold for a few seconds before speaking with a rep who was more than helpful. I highly recommend, especially at this sale price.

I was trying to save some money on a wall mount and came across Cheatah Mounts which sells mounts that look like the ones you see at a store but waay cheaper. I was excited and ordered. Once delivered, I installed the mount (I have experience installing 3 mounts previously for various TVs). THIS IS THE WORST MOUNT I have ever installed. Installation was easy, but the metal arm sags away from the mount badly, making anything you mount on it crooked. I was really disappointed in this mount. The return policy does not cover shipping, so BUYER BEWARE. CHEETAH MOUNTS LCD TV ARTICULATING ARM WALL MOUNT FOR 23-37" DISPLAYS BLACK

UPDATED: - The company cantacted me by phone expressing their concern about the RMA I requested. The representative was extremely helpful and wanted me to know that it was most likely a manufactuing defect. They sent me the RMA number and shipping label and are giving me a full refund. I was very impressed with their reponsiveness and would consider purchasing from them again as I know that they seem to stand behind their products and have excellent support.

I can't imagine why anyone would rate this poorly. Those that do, are doing everyone else a disservice. I almost passed this one up because the poor reviews and low price made me apprehensive. This mount is well built, well packaged, attractive, easy to install, and how can you beat the price? I can only imagine that those who rated it poorly don't know what they're doing with tools and/or can't or won't follow instructions. For those that complained of insecure and sagging mounts, they probably know nothing about wall construction and didn't bother reading the instructions. YOU MUST INSTALL TO A WALL STUD OR MASONRY!!! For the other mounting complaints, I can only repeat, these people either failed to read the instructions or with no offense intended, are not mechanically inclined. You only have yourself to blame, not the manufacturer. If I ever need another, I will definitely buy this one again.

good price for this mount and is a decent deal. desc says "single stud mount" but mine apparently arrived only with the docs and h/w for installation in a concrete wall....nevertheless with some deck screws we solidly installed it into a stud anyway. mounted a 37" Vizio tv with no difficulty whatsoever. this is definitely strong enough for a 37 lcd w/o prob. seems to be decently made w/good enough materials for this type installation anyway. satisfied enough.

Bought the CHEETAH Articulating wall-mount arm for a 32" LCD TV. Before I mounted it to the wall, which was quite straight forward, I inspected it and checked it over. It seemed as if the arm movements were very tight and difficult, so I loosened the adjustment screws per the instructions. Part of the arm mechanism still seemed very tight and difficult. After installing the arm on the wall and attaching the TV to the arm, I still had difficulty making adjustments for the arm to move smoothly and freely. I never could could get it to the point where the arm moved smoothly. It bound up no matter how much I adjusted it, making it very difficult to move and swing the TV around. Bottom line - the articulating arm doesn't articulate very well at all. Now I have to go through the royal hassle of removing the TV from the wall mount, and removing the mount from the wall to send it back. The other problem I had was not being able to secure the mounting face plate ( the plate that attaches to the TV) adequately to the arm bracket. No matter how much I tightened the face plate bolt, it still moved, which put the TV out of level. This is one product I DO NOT recommend. - Tilting Wall Mount - Lcd Wall Mount - Lcd Mount - Tv Wall Mount'

Vga Splitter - vga y, dual monitor cable

Does exactly as its supposed to, ghosts a tiny bit, but for what I wanted it to do it is negligibly noticeable able at best, so i am very happy with this product. The guy who got the block thing was obviously sent the wrong item because the one I got is exactly what appears in the photo. Works great for having two monitors off one vga card. VGA 1 Male to 2 Female Video Splitter Cable

I know I'm not the first person to write this in a review, and it's a minor thing, but the item shipped is not the item shown above. Instead of two output cables, the item I received had a single block with two output ports. I would have preferred the cables, but the block wound up working well enough.

It splits your video output, with no noticeable loss in picture quality. Because my TV and my monitor are so different, Windows, and certain programs, kind of freak out when trying to pick a resolution. Most programs (including windows) will allow you to "force" a resolution, even if it doesn't come up in the choices they give you. Keep poking at it until it works how you want it to.

K

Bought this splitter to go dual screen. The splitter works great but i needed to upgrade my graphics card but i already knew that just was going to give it a try. Very inexpensive and seems to be working very well.

The splitter I received was not the same as in the picture. It works like a charm so thats ok. If your looking for a spitter which has two seperate lines coming out of it then dont order this one. This is a stacked splitter where both of the connectors are coming off of the same connector. As noted, it worked very well. I was splitting a signal for two computer monitors.

1 cent is what you get...1 cent worth...

Running from a dual monitor high end video card splitting line one to feed a 42 inch lcd screen via a 35' shielded and choked cable (I also got here), this 'dongle' introduces RFI interference to both my 22" Viewsonic pro monitor and the 42" LG flatscreen. No issues with them both on at the same time, however, the RFI 'stripping' is apparant on both even after adjusting the color, voltage feed to the Viewsonic and adjusting the color balance and contrast on the LG....needs to have RFI chokes on the split sides of the 'dongle'. Gonna try some snap-ons (chokes) from Tandy to overcome the issue. The brightness of both devices is also less...but thats to be expected I guess...after all, this is a cheap non-powered KVM solution. Goodluck, if you're performance oriented!

It does split the video, but the monitor connected has a blurry, shadow like image. When i remove the splitter and connect the monitor directly, image is crystal clear. May be good for video, but not text. You get what you pay for.

I work in a school situation in Norway and needed a way of splitting the VGA output from an older desktop so it could be viewed similtaneously on both a screen and video cannon. I could not locate anything like this locally but searched and found it on Amazon. It was a very simple, effective and cheap solution to my problem. The ordering process was easy and effective, the international delivery prompt and reliable and the result exactly what I needed.

Bought this unit to save me from not having to disconnect my PC every time I need to use the monitor for dual screen with my laptop. Purchase turned into a loss. The cable distorts the signal so much, the screen just blurs out. It's not useful for me at all. Buy it at your own risk, maybe you'll be the lucky one. - Dual Monitor Cable - Vga Y'

All In One Printer - canon, laser printer

I bought the Canon imageCLASS MF3240 about a month ago, and so far it has exceeded my expectations. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who is in the market for a multifunction device without the need to print in color. If you prefer getting your digital photos printed by an online or in-store photo processor, a laser multifunction is usually the way to go -- since it's a lower cost per page, it's faster, and the output is better quality than an inkjet.

APPEARANCE/CONSTRUCTION:

You can tell that it's a sub-$200 machine by the construction. Don't expect the same kind of solid feel that you'll get from a much more expensive piece of equipment. A few of the plastic parts feel a little flimsy, like the paper tray. But they all seem to work fine, and I don't have any concerns about durability. Unless you're really tough on your office equipment, you should be ok.

The MF3240 isn't the sexiest looking multifunction out there (if you're looking for a great looking device, try the Canon PIXMA MP830, which uses inkjet technology so you can print in color too). In fact, it kind of looks like a cooler sitting on the desk. But the buttons are laid out logically on the keypad, and from the investigating I've done into a lot of different multifunction devices, the footprint on this one seems to be a reasonable size.

PERFORMANCE:

So far, so good. If you're really a stickler for the highest output possible -- if you need the most crisp, darkest text and flawless images -- this probably isn't the machine for you. Don't get me wrong...the output is very good, borderline excellent. But you can tell that it wasn't printed on a $1,000 heavy-duty laser printer.

This baby is fast! Total time for the first page to arrive in my hand after clicking the Print button (including warmup time) was 13 seconds. It's considerably faster warming up than my old HP laser printer.

It's not the quietest machine I've ever heard, but I wouldn't call it too loud either.

It has a toner saver mode, but I'd call this an annoyance. You're supposed to be able to set the toner saver either directly on the printer control panel or through the printer driver. I've tried a number of times to set up two profiles: one that uses toner saver and another that doesn't. It works sometimes, but other times it'll end up in the wrong mode. Even when I get it to work, I don't notice much of a difference in output between toner saver mode and the regular mode.

I've also been having a minor problem with the fax. I have the MF3240 hooked up to my phone line, and a phone extension hooked into the fax machine. The fax machine is set in Manual mode, so it shouldn't do anything unless I take action on my own. But I've had one or two phone calls on the extension that's hooked up to the fax where the machine hangs up on the person I'm talking to after about 10 minutes! If I can't get this problem to stop, I may end up getting a splitter for the phone line and hooking the phone extension into the line separately.

SOFTWARE:

It comes bundled with a light version of OCR software. I tried it once, and it seemed to recognize every single word on the page I scanned. I was quite impressed -- much better than older versions of OCR I've tried (although I must admit this is the first OCR software I've tried in at least 6-7 years, so I'm sure the technology is much better now).

It also installs a piece of software called Canon Multifunction Toolbox 4.9. This is the most pleasant surprise I've experienced with this printer so far. It allows you to click one button, go through a couple simple settings, and then get a scan and go straight to an e-mail, or straight to a PDF, etc. The smartest feature is that it allows you to pick a target file size, and it'll adjust the resolution to achieve that file size. So it eliminates trying to scan something and then finding out the resulting file is 20MB, then needing to go back and re-scan it at a lower resolution before you e-mail it. You simply pick your target file size (let's say 1MB) and the software will scan your document at the proper resolution to achieve that file size. Very smart!

OVERALL:

Amazon has even knocked ten dollars off the price since I bought it...now it's going for about one hundred fifty bucks...so it's an even better value today. This is a very good multifunction device for light/moderate home or home office use. Given the chance to do it all over, I'd definitely buy the MF3240 again.

UPDATE 9/2010: The Canon Multifunction Toolbox software doesn't work with Windows 7. It's not a huge problem, since you can still use all the main functions of the machine. But you will lose a little functionality, such as the one-touch scanning capability. Canon imageCLASS MF3240 Monochrome Laser All-in-One Printer

Pros:

- Inexpensive (I paid $155.99/free shipping here at Amazon which is amazing considering all the functions I get from this solid machine)

- Good computer printing... it does what a b/w laser printer is supposed to: great on text and ok on graphics. It does a comparable job as my previous HP LJ1100 laser printer. Internal paper tray which holds 250 pages is an improvement over my HP.

- Appropriate scanning result. Good for document archiving purpose. I tried to scan an old color photo and print it in another color inkjet printer. The result is beyond my expectation.

- Copier does what it is supposed to. Pretty easy to operate and configure different settings.

Cons:

- FAX function in general is a dispointment. First, if I connect the printer with my phone (i.e.,in-line or serial), the printer "wakes up" from idle mode whenever I pick up the phone. I have to use a splitter to avoid this nuisance. As a result, I pretty much need to set it to Manual mode for FAX. Also, as other people mentioned, there is no auto feeder for FAX. Fortunately I only use FAX occasionally.

- A little too loud for my taste. I have seen many other models that are much quieter than this.

Bottom line:

If you are like myself who does not use FAX that frequently, you will love this unbelivable bargain. It does everything I used to get done at Kinko's at $156! - Multifunction Printer - Laser Printer - All-in-one - Canon'

Woodworking - bosch, sander

Bosch has hit a home run with this great redesign of an already great tool. This is an update of the popular Bosch 1295DVS(Variable Speed) random orbit sander. The Bosch 1295 was rated the best value AND the best overall random orbit sander in the August 2006 issue of Fine Woodworker magazine. It beat out the equivalent Festool, DeWalt, Makita, Craftsman, Rigid, Ryobi, and Porter-Cable.

I bought the ROS20VSK for $69.97 +tax at a big box retailer. I used the 1295DVS several months ago and now this one for a few weeks. They are very similar in performance. Same smooth start-up and great motion yet relatively low vibration and easy to control. Same vigorous removal of material but with a very even, smooth pattern. I'd like to see a side by side performance test of the ROS20VS and the 1295DVS because their internals are somewhat different, the most significant of which is the ROS20VS's less powerful motor.

The visible differences in this model are the features that were the biggest complaints from reviews of the 1295DVS. Bosch seems to have been listening: dust collection, sanding pad durability and ergonomics are all improved.

Ergonomics - The top has been given more form and elongated, similar to other random orbitals, but Bosch has made it's "tail" a bit more substantial than most. I thought it might get in the way and make it clunky but it doesn't. The shape allows for solid two handed sanding if needed and many other secure & comfortable hand holds. The variable speed dial has been moved to the back so there is no chance of accidentally adjusting it. Molded rubber has been added to all the right places for hands. There is even a small patch of rubber in the back above the dust port that is prefect extra grip for an index finger or thumb.

Sanding Pad - It comes with a standard soft backing pad with patented "Hook-Tight" backing. Bosch claims these extra tiny velcro hooks are more durable and thus make the pad last a lot longer. They also say it holds discs better and doesn't get clogged with dust as easily. My first use tells me the latter two claims are right. Time will tell on the pad's durability. The hooks are quite tiny, much more so than on any other hook & loop sander I've seen.(see picture above) Also... good feature: Bosch offers optional extra-soft pads for polishing and hard pads for finish removal... very thoughtful feature: Bosch provides space in the case for one of these optional pads.

Dust Collection - It seems a common complaint of the 1295DVS was its lack of an included vacuum attachment. If you wanted one, you had to shell out another $10. With this sander a vacuum hose attachment is included, it fits both 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 " vacuum hoses, and there is a special space for it in the case. Also, the dust outlet port is no longer a weird oblong shape but a 19mm cylinder with a rubber o-ring so you can use it directly with a Bosch hose if you have one.

The on-board dust collector has a larger translucent canister and comes off easily with a twisting motion. Because of the o-ring, it seals back on air-tight. It also has an easy to remove pop-off top with a pleated paper filter. (The filter is welded to the plastic top so a replacement filter would include a new top; the manual stresses not to wash the filter, dry clean only.) This collector is great for small jobs but it is so good at sucking up dust, you have to empty it regularly especially when using coarse grits. Having a vacuum attached is the way to go for bigger jobs.

No big complaints so far. Bosch has made a great sander better and when you add the case that has room for accessories and a bunch of discs, I think this is the best 5" variable speed random orbit sander in it's class... certainly the best deal.

--- UPDATE September '08 --- This sander has gone up in price since being introduced.(exchange rate) It's still worth every penny though. I have come to love the on-board dust collector; it is awesome! Very little wood dust escapes the powerful suction created. You must empty it regularly!!! If you don't, dust can block the filter and a large amount of air is forced back out through the pad's holes causing an undetectable air-cushion. I've found that this reverse air pressure can cause the disc to be released from the pad's hooks (too much dust collection is a nice problem to have).

--- June '09 --- Still running strong & smooth. At 5" and 2.2 amps, this efficient sander is, by nature, a finish sander. There are other types of sanders for other uses. That said, with 50 or 80 grit, this sander will tear through old finish, raised grain, scratches and cut marks... smoothly. If you plan to do a lot of coarse grit sanding, the hard sanding pad (Bosch Part No. RS035) improves performance substantially. Bosch ROS20VSK 120-Volt Variable Speed Random Orbit Sander Kit

I took over a kitchen remodel from a contractor that disappeared mid-job. The intricate tile work behind (and on) the new butcher-block counters was impressive. Unfortunately, it prevented me from removing the unsanded, unfinished countertops. I knew my belt sander and 20-year-old pad sander would be of no use. The Bosch ROS20VSK was recommended to me by my local tool distributor who claimed to have sold 25 in the month since he first received them. Skeptical that anything this small and lightweight could actually work as well as promised, I soon became a fan.

No, it is not perfect, but it comes close. I took the sander back to the job and attached a 60-grit piece of paper, easy enough with the guide incorporated in the annoying plastic case. Good, tight grip on the hook and loop. My first few passes were not pretty...the sander wanted to wander and it seemed to bog down. I soon learned that it worked best with little or no pressure on the machine. Lightly resting your hand on the comfortable rubber pad is enough to accurately guide the sander in straight lines. The temptation to add some pressure will result in some chatter and a reminder from the unit to ease up. The 60 grit ate through the rough butcher block with ease. The dust collector works, really works. Sure, with course paper you need to empty the little box every few minutes but it keeps the air clean. I probably put more dust in the air emptying the thing than when using it.

I worked my way through the grits, down to 320 (or up to 320). Still no dust and less frequent emptying. The pad on the sander spins but does not rotate, preventing swirl marks and leaving an incredibly smooth surface. The soft edges of the pad made it possible to get right next to the tile without leaving any marks or breaking the tiles. The wheel controlling the speed it somewhat useless unless you lift the machine and play with it. Maybe it was my fat, arthritic thumb that rendered it impossible to control.

I spent less than an hour sanding 28 feet of butcher-block counter. The finished result was more than acceptable, it was beautiful. No swirl marks, no sanding lines, just a smooth, almost glossy surface. I finished the countertop with Behlen Salad Bowl Finish and realized that my old pad sander would no longer be kept in my van.

Overall, this sander may not be revolutionary but it will change the way you sand. Gone are the days of heavy machines with ineffective dust collectors. Perhaps the greatest quality of this machine besides the lightweight is the fact that you can use this machine in a client's home without spewing dust throughout the place thanks in part to the pleated micro filter.

I must confess to being a Bosch head. Over the past few years, I have replaced my Porter-Cable, Makita, and Dewalt tools with Bosch. The quality is there and their service policy is second to none. My local dealer provides 24 hour turn around on most repairs and only once in about 10 purchases I came away with a bad unit. My dealer replaced it on the spot, thanks to Bosch's 3-year contractors program on some tools. - Bosch - Sanders - Sander - Random-orbit Sanders'

Ipod Accessories

I purchased this longer cable so I could talk on iPhone while keeping it charging but the cable doesn't work. I plug it in and I receive NO response from my iPhone. I tested cable with 2 other iPhones as well and it doesn't work! I tried AC adapter and 3 different PCs (USB ports). The cable is physically undamaged yet doesn't work. 6 Foot Long USB Data Sync Cable For iPod, iPhone 2G 3G 3GS, iPad, iPhone 4, All Models Compatible

This cable arrived on my doorsteps faster than I promised, and I was excited. When I opened it, it was as long as promised, and looked to be exactly what I needed. I plugged in my ipod, and everything seemed fine. A few hours later, I noticed it was not charging. I unpluged it, and was still at half battery. It look a lot of wiggling for the cable to charge my ipod again. I tried a buddys iphone, with the same problem. Now, after about 2 days of ownership, no amount of wiggling seems to make it work.

When my shipment first arrived I was upset to find that I had received the 3 foot cables instead of the 6 foot. After an initial difficulty contacting CablesOnline, they were very forthcoming and very easy to deal with. Within a week, they sent the correct cables at no extra cost and gave me the first set of cables for free. I recommend both the product and the seller.

I agonized over which, if any, of these cables to purchase. There are so many negative reviews and comments on the 6 foot USB iPhone connector cables. But I decided to take a chance and I'm happy to report they all work just fine.

I ordered from the seller Shivser, but when I checked out, the seller name displayed as Tavas. The return address on the box also said Tavas. Because of all the negative product reviews, I wanted to order with a seller whose orders were fulfilled by Amazon.com so if the cables did turn out to be defective, the Amazon.com return policy would apply. I also decided to order four cables, just in case some were defective, I would have a better chance of getting one that works.

All four cables are new, 6 feet long, white (all what I ordered), and they sync AND charge just fine as far as I can tell. I tested all four cables on both an iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.

All four cables were just a little tighter connecting to the iPhone data port than I'm used to, but as far as I'm concerned, that's a positive, not negative. It seems my phone is always falling off my nightstand and getting disconnected. Hopefully with a tighter connection, it will not get unplugged as easily.

It remains to be seen how long it takes to fully charge the phone from a nearly empty battery. Some reviews claim the phone appears to charge, but doesn't really, or charges sloooooowly. We shall see and I'll keep everyone posted.

And finally, I ordered using the Free SuperSaver Shipping and placed my order on Tuesday, March 8 at 10pm. By the next morning, my order had already shipped. The estimated delivery date was March 14-18, which would have been 6-10 calendar days. Much to my surprise, it arrived just 3 days later on March 11th! This has not been my experience with all Free SuperSaver Shipping offers, so I'm very happy to have received the cables so quickly.

Love this cable! I've had it about a month and its definately worth its weight in gold! I travel alot with my job and unfortunately there is rarely an outlet close to the bed. My phone is also my alarm, so it is imperative that its close to me through the night. Problem solved with this cable. Of course it's great at the house too. I bought one for my overnight bag and one for my house. It works great for syncing too. My computer recognizes my iPhone 3GS quickly, transfers quickly. No complaints really. Also surprising is the build quaity. Nice, thick, and sturdy! Definately would recommend to anyone.

I ordered this six-foot USB cable to use with my iPhone and iPad. The first picture on the amazon product page for this cable has what looks like a generic connector that you plug into the iPhone/iPad. That's the type of connector that looks bigger (fatter?) than the slimmer connector that you see on the current real Apple cables. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the cable that I actually received had the connector that was just like the ones you see on the more current real Apple cables. See the picture that I posted at the top of this product's amazon page for the cable that I received.

I bought this cable from amazon marketplace seller 'The OEM Shop' for under three dollars with free S&H. I received the cable very quickly in five days. I do NOT work for 'The OEM Shop' or for Amazon, but I mention the name of the seller because very few people seem to mention the name of the amazon marketplace seller who they bought a product from in their reviews. These cables are "generic" and it is often difficult to tell which seller sold the product that the buyer is either complaining about or praising in a product review. Also, a lot of buyers don't seem to realize that they can select a particular seller and not just take whoever is the seller who may be appearing as the "default" seller on an amazon product page. I don't know what determines who is the "default" seller, but I'm guessing that Amazon comes first if Amazon has the product in their warehouse(s), but if not, then maybe the other sellers are possibly rotated as the "default" seller on the page, and so on and so forth. Anyways, I think it is worth mentioning who is the particular amazon marketplace seller is in a review - especially if the product is generic like this cable and if there are a lot of sellers who are selling the product via the one single amazon product page.

Anyways, the cable that I bought is indeed a nice long six-foot cable. It looks like the real thing. And it was new. I was able to charge my iPhone and iPad by using this cable when connected to a charger plugged into the wall. And I was able to sync my iPhone and iPad with iTunes on my macbook. The cable was also able to charge my iPhone via the USB on my macbook. For my iPhone, I've tried charging with both a real official apple power adapter and also a generic power adapter - and both worked. (Of course, for my iPad, I had to use the 10w charger that came with my iPad because you can't use anything else when charging from an electrical outlet in the wall.) I will be using this nice long six-foot cable for whenever I want to charge my iPhone or iPad for like when I want to use my iPhone or iPad when I'm in bed or if I'm sitting elsewhere like at the kitchen table and if I want to save the battery for later. (I would be keeping the shorter original cable that came with my iPhone/iPad for use with my macbook for syncing the iPhone/iPad.) I'm happy with this purchase and with this cable.'

Laptop Power Adapters - power cord, power cables

I was initially sent the wrong cables. When I informed Cables unlimited of the error, they were very easy to work with and overnighted the correct cables to me without any hassles. The product was just as described and although they made a mistake with the cables, they rectified it immediately. The cables were just as described. Cables Unlimted 6-feet Mickey Mouse Power Cord

I got home from my annual beach vacation and realized I had left my power cord at the beach house. This is a perfect replacement. It is a round cord, nice and heavy. No worrying about whether your laptop is getting enough juice. The fit into the power brick is excellent.

I was a little worried about buying a "cheap" replacement, but when this cord arrived I was pleased. I might order another to leave plugged in at my desk so i don't have to reach down to the surge protector anymore. If you need a replacement or are just thinking about buying another for convenience, go for it.

The cable was lost for my laptop so I looked around locally first. Only one I could find was used and did not work. Luckily the store took it back. So I decided to look online. Found this cable the price was the same as the used one I had purchased and $65.00 dollars cheaper then best buy, so I ordered it. It works great and my wife is happy her laptop works.

My laptop power cord for my IBM ThinkPad has been flaky for a year. After twisting and turning the power cord (the part that goes into the transformer), I could usually get it to work. Pricing that part gave me a bit of a shock. It was $21.95 at CompUSA. Checked here, and found it for $3.99, plus $4.99 shipping. Doesn't look all that fancy, but it seems to work fine. What a relief not to have to fool with the power cord anymore.

I purchased this item to replace my laptop's Mickey Mouse Power Cord that my daughter's puppy chewed through. I chose this particular item in large part because of the great price but also because the picture looked identical to my original cord. However, when the item arrived, the cord was not flat, as pictured, but instead round--a purely cosmetic issue since THE ITEM WORKED PERFECTLY RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.

SIDEBAR: Be sure when you're shopping for a good price that you check the shipping charge as they vary a great deal from supplier to supplier. - Power Cord - Power Cables - Computer Cables'

Sensor Pouch - shoe pouch, nike plus

This Tune belt case is just what i needed, I didn't want Nike + Shoes, but I wanted to safely stow away the Nike + sensor. This does an excellent job of securing the sensor, and the instructions are impressively comprehensive considering they give you diagrams on the slip of paper and subtitles to them. Easy to use, can be used with every shoe. Keeps your sensor out of dirt and water, I ran with it in rain today and it's still working fine. I'd recommend this over other plastic holders due to its durability. Tune Belt Sensor Pouch for Nike+iPod Sport Kit Sensor

I don't own the Nike shoes, so this is a perfect way to adapt any pair of tennis shoes with your Nike Plus. I went running in the rain and it protected the sensor from getting muddy and gross. Don't know if that even affects the sensor, but I'm happy with it.

I've previously purchased two (2) "Tune Belt Sensor Pouches" for both my wife and daughter. They liked it so much that I recently decided to buy one for myself for use in Wisconsin winter running.

It's an excellent product as it snugly stores your Nike+ iPod sensor in a soft fabric pouch, enveloping it in a sturdy, classy-looking leather skin, and then securely locks it down with heavy-duty velcro (easy-to-follow directions are included). And rest assured, there's no problems with communication between your iPod and the Nike+ iPod sensor in your "Tune Belt Sensor Pouch."

All-in-all, the "Tune Belt Sensor Pouch" is stylish, rugged, and does exactly what it was built to do.

This a great product, especially for the price. I was even able to put them on my leather flip-flop like shoes!

By the way, make sure you don't put the sensor in upside-down like I first did, or the reading will be wildly off.

I got this after reading the other positive feedback on this item. It works as described and saved me alot of money. Nike+ shoes are so expensive. This allowed me to use my other shoes that fit better and achieve the same results.

Had bought a pouch that laced into my shoes previously - bad move!! It made changing shoes impossible! This little guy solved all problems. Works great, low profile, no jiggly, and easy to change shoes for the conditions. THANK YOU! - Ipod Accessories - Shoe Pouch - Nike Plus - Running'

Point And Shoot - kodak easyshare, camera accessories

I have used a myriad of pocket cameras in the past, including other Kodaks. Sometimes it seems as if Kodak will hit a home run and then take two steps back, but it seems as if they've broken through with consistent improvements (V550, V1253, M341, etc.). If it's one thing Kodak has understood well since they invented digital photography, it's make a camera easy to use, and produce pleasing photos.

Generally, on the point and shoot side, Kodak's attributes have been ease of use, beautiful display, great video (especially since they started doing HD a few models back), and beautiful, vivid pictures. They also make it pretty easy to update the camera's firmware when they correct a bug or improve a feature. Typically, Kodak pocket cameras have been weak in low light, sharpness has tended to suffer greatly under borderline lighting conditions, and speed to set up can be slow.

Recently they've really improved things with features like face recognition, the camera's ability to analyze scenes and 'figure out" your composition, and other attributes that make life easy for point and shooters, but unless the light was with you, you had to work at it more than you should.

It's been in a lot of Kodak's traditionally weak areas where I found this camera to have so many improvements. It's substantially faster than earlier models. There's no time to play a little "boot up jingle" because when you hit the power button, this camera is ready for action before you are.

Taking pictures in questionable light, with or without flash, is noticeably much better than in my past experience. Before I would have to fiddle with a "scene mode" and/or the flash, and/or the aperture setting to get something I could reasonably use when conditions were nominal. That's great when you have the time to fiddle with it, but not so hot when you're at a poorly lit reception or some other indoor event and you have to act fast.

What originally attracted me to the camera was the 8x zoom and previous success with features like smart capture (intelligent scene detection and analysis), and panorama mode. I know my wife will love face recognition - the ability to quickly find pictures of the kids among the hundreds of photos she accumulates on a memory card. Of course the ease of use is big...

I just got back from a "cruisin' weekend" at the beach with some buddies - thousands of classic cars. Nivana. My buddy had his Canon pocket camera and was reading the manual so he could figure out how to delete pictures. I looked at it and couldn't see the markings on some of the controls, much less figure out how to delete something. Kodaks always have had dedicated delete and review buttons. Also a menu button and joystick with 4 other controls for quick access to common features, a flash toggle button, scene mode button, etc.

You really waste no time getting up and ready to shoot. The main thing is we're instantly taking pictures and shooting HD video of hot rods that suddenly appear on the boulevard without staring at the back of the camera. Something I would take for granted - quickly deleting things we don't want were a luxury for him. That model he had might have been easy, but my attitude is, if you can't figure it out on the fly, then it's more complicated than it needs to be. If anything, that's a Kodak attribute, but I think some people overlook the deeper features because they assume the camera must not be very sophisticated because it's so easy to use.

The bonus this time was the near instantaneous readiness, clearer night shots, better color in low light, and less fiddling to try to make a useful shot in questionable conditions. It's obvious to me Kodak took a lot of the criticisms to heart, kept the good things, added a quality 8x optical zoom, and made the other things better. Kodak EasyShare M580 14MP Digital Camera with 8x Wide Angle Optical Zoom and 3.0 Inch LCD (Purple)

I read that ppl had trouble getting the battery to fully charge and that the camera would just freeze up for no reason, so that they had to pop the battery in and out to get it to go again so they could at least turn it off. I ordered it anyway hoping that those ppl just got a bad apple or they didn't know how to use it correctly. I just wanted something small enought to stick in my pocket, with a decent zoom and easy to use. It did have all that, but Unfortunately the bad reviews were right. I charged it for over 24 hours, kept going back to check on it but it never fully charged. I was going to NYC for the day so I took it anyway. It kept freezing up just as I had read it might. It took 53 pictures before the battery died. Too bad too because it took great pics, very clear, easy to use, the zoom was great. But who needs a camera that takes days to charge? And the freezing up for no reason is just annoying and makes one wonder if one of those times it just won't turn on again. So don't waste your time with this one! I returned mine and ordered a nikon. Amazon was great, which is why I shop here. They accepted the return for a refund and no shipping charges! - Kodak Easyshare - Point And Shoot - Freezing - Camera Accessories'

Sand Table - outdoor play, toddler toys

We got this for our just turned two year old daughter. She LOVES it. We use it as an inside toy - in our living room with rice in both sides. I tried water in one, but she wasn't really interested. She loves scooping the rice into buckets and bowls (Note, though, that the rice doesn't drain through the toys that come with it.), hiding and digging her hands in it and, of course, flinging the rice everywhere. Not a big deal, I can vacuum it up. But, I decided to put a plastic shower curtain under the table to help make clean up easier. She wakes up asking for it and goes to bed asking for it. A great educational toy (Is the bucket full or empty? Which bowl is heavier?, Can you find the buried toy?...) - plus it will be better OUTSIDE in the summer! Sand and Water Activity Table

We have played with this toy several times, with sand, water, and rice (inside the house). My daughter loves this toy and has played inside and out. It's drain plugs are easy to use and it's a quick assembly. Just the right height, too for a 1-yr old. The toys fascinate her, too. Great product.

I bought this for my petite two year old daughter. Table is only 17 inches tall, so she could easily reach down into the table and scoop out sand and play with it. Unfortunately, the wheels that are suppose to turn when sand is poured onto them didn't work. They were on too tight to spin and I couldn't fix it without breaking it. Table is very colorful and she loved playing in the sand, but for $50, I wanted everything to work! I did return it to Amazon and they gave me a full refund since it was defective. This was the first time I've ever had to return an item to Amazon and they were great about it! Will always continue to buy toys from Amazon for this reason!

Love this table. My friend had one from a couple years ago and I wanted one but could not find it anywhere. I think they stopped making it for awhile. So glad I found it. It is nice and deep unlike some of the other tables out there and comes with a nice lid that can also be used to play with cars on top (has a road). LOVE IT!!!

If you have a little one who enjoys playing in sand or water, this table is great. My little guy will spend 40 minutes pouring water and sand through the waterwheels, etc, before he gets bored and starts splashing. The only thing to be aware of is that it is high enough to make it a little dangerous for climbers...all things considered, however, couldn't given this product a more favorable review! - Sand And Water Activity Center - Sand Table - Toddler Toys - Outdoor Play'

Battery Pack - tools

I called vendor to get return due to the battery being the incorrect model for my drill. They said they would not take it back because it was not their fault. Whether you feel that is incorrect or not is up to you. My own opinion is that I would rather pay more and buy from The Home Depot. Then I know if it is incorrect they will take it back no questions asked.

Now I have a 14.4 volt battery that I paid $35 that is worthless.

Anyone need a battery? Ridgid 130252003 14.4-Volt Ni-Cd Battery

Works like a top and brings my drill and impact driver back up to operating capacity in my wood shop. I was lost by having to wait 30min. for just one battery to recharge. Now I can keep on drilling or screwing without lag time in my shop. - Tools'

Samsung Car Charger - car charger, samsung

Considering Samsung's own website states that it had "quick charging technology", I expected at least an output of 950ma like the other more popular Motorola car charger.

I like to stream Pandora through my phone's Bluetooth and occasionally use the GPS as well, so I'd like to have a charger that can handle that as well as top off my battery. Unfortunately, this product doesn't fit that bill. At 700ma, its certainly enough if you just want to occasionally charge your phone, but definitely not for heavy usage.

I'd get the cheaper, sexier and more powerful to boot Motorola charger on Amazon. Theres absolutely no reason to get this charger over that one unless you absolutely have to have Samsung written on your charger. Samsung CAD300UBEB/STD Standard Car Power Charger

Works just like it should. Haven't had a single issue, and has the thinner plug for recessed USB port on the Samsung Captivate. If you need a car charger for your Galaxy S phone, this is the one to get.

As most have said about this item, it sure beats paying 30-40 bucks for the Sprint one. I just got the item today and after a twenty minute charge in my car, I am glad to say it never stopped charging. But I guess that should go without saying since this is a genuine Samsung product. Highly recommend anyone in need of a car charger for their Samsung Epic to buy this one. As a matter of fact I'm sure this will even work for the HTC Evo since my gf and I use the same home charger for our phones.

This charger works fantastic with my Samsung Vibrant. Oddly enough, unlike other chargers I've had on which the power light is on when the charger is receiving power from the lighter, this one does not turn on until power is getting to the phone. Works great and fits into the armrest socket in my vehicle. - Samsung - Car Chargers - Galaxy S - Car Charger'
