Ipod Car Mount - iphone, iphone stand

I ordered, by mistake, both this dash holder as well as the Kensington model and I'm glad I made the mistake! Although the Kensington model works well enough, this Arkon has the GREAT benefit of a spring loaded system that, once grasping your phone with cushioned legs, will not let go when you do not wish it to. Honestly, this did not happen very often with the Kensington but it happened a couple times and that really is enough if I know there is something else out there that will NOT drop my iPhone. I wrote this review because, basically, if I had the choice between the two models, knowing what I know of both, I'd pick the Arkon and thought that insight might help someone deciding between the two. Well worth the money. Arkon IPM512 Mini Friction Dashboard Mount with Travel Mount Deluxe Mini Windshield Pedestal for iPhone 4

I bought this really cheap from Amazon.com for $20 including S&H. The product is high quality to my surprise. Perfect for my iPhone 4.

The base has good velvety bottom and heavy enough to stay onto the dashboard without any need for an anchor/hook such as the one that is included in this kit. No problem for abrupt braking or quick acceleration.

The suction detaches easily if you want the phone holder to be placed on to the windshield (which is illegal by the way in California).

Phone holder fits any phone's width as it is adjustable, wide or slim such as the iPhone 4, and with a quick release knob.

The product's image is slightly different from the one I got from the vendor (which is better actually). The Amazon product image, which I ordered, has it on top and bottom. The one that was shipped to me has the holder positioned on the sides which I actually prefer. I guess the vendor did a complementary gesture for me for being patient and waiting a day or two until they finally got it in stock.

This is a perfect accessory for my iPhone 4.

I haven't tested it though to see if it will stand heat as I hide it when not in use to be discreet.

I'm very impressed with this item. I did quite a bit of research to find a holder for my iPhone 4 (with case). I first tried Griffin GC17093 TuneFlex AUX Hands-free for iPhone and iPod since I had a similar Griffen product for my iPod Touch. The Griffin was terrible so I returned it. (Check out my review on that product, if interested.)

When this product arrived, I was pleasantly surprised.

Pros:

> Sturdy and well made

> Highly adjustable

> Looks good -- not cheap

> Includes a safety hook (I was rear ended last year and my Garmin friction mount flew to the back of my van.)

> Solid base is heavy so it stays put

> Works for any device

> Arms are adjustable so can be set to avoid headset jacks and chargers.

> Includes two extra, longer arms

Cons:

> The extra, longer arms cam in their own package with no instructions. Took me a few minutes but eventually I figured out I needed them for my iPhone.

I highly recommend this product if you need a friction mount. With that said, I've changed my mind on mine. I'm still using my Garmin so two friction mounts on my dash is a bit much. In addition, in my car, the friction mount puts the iPhone just a bit far from my fingers so it makes it a little tough to accurately hit the mutitouch screen. (With my Garmin, I set and forget. With the iPhone, I find myself changing playlists, and updating the Wave navigation app when I'm stopped.) However, I'll keep this for occasional use in one of the other cars instead of returning. (I only return bad products. This one is worth keeping.) I'm hoping to find a vent mount for the Arkon.

Extras, I bought two other products that work well with this mount. You might want to check them out. Kensington K33497US PowerBolt Duo Car Charger, iPhone 4 Compatible provides a USB charging cable and two USB charging slots for the accessory power. This is great. I also bought Scosche motorMOUTH Plug and Play Bluetooth Handsfree and Streaming Audio Car Kit. This device is great for getting the audio from the iPhone to the stereo in the car (assuming you have an aux input on the stereo. I'm still not convinced about the microphone for phone calls but the bluetooth alone made it worthwhile.

I have always preferred the friction mounts for our various GPS systems but needed new ones for our cars as we switched the GPS services to our iPhones.

I ordered this model as well as the Arkon SM412ARKON SM412 MINI FRICTION DASHBOARD MOUNT WITH WINDSHIELD MOUNT OPTION & MEGA-GRIP SMARTPHONE HOLD. Both mounts are absolutely identical but the holders that you clip the phone into works quite differently.

This mount uses pressure created by some spring mechanism that you do not see through the dark plastic. You have to pull the bottom two clips down, slide your phone into the holder and let the clips snap back up. It is cumbersome to use as the clips that hold the iPhone 4 in place constantly either cover the audio out, the on/off switch (top) or the power plug and microphones (bottom). A few times, the clips slid out of the holder and had to get reassembled. I was wondering when I unpacked the unit, why it came with 2 spare clips. I wonder no more as I am sure at some point soon one will either fly into the great abyss or just snap off. To make a long story short, I am returning this model today and will switch to the generic holder Arkon SM412 (linked above).

That model should work for any smart phone so when you are ready to dump your iPhone for a smart phone with actual phone reception, I do not have to buy a new mount. That may never happen as I enjoy all other non-call related iPhone options for many years now. - Ipod Car Mount - Iphone Stand - Iphone'

Cell Phone Case - faceplates, droid

I've only owned the case for a few days, so I can't comment on it's long term durability. However, the case appears to be as strong as you would expect... durable, yet flexible and thin so as to keep the DROID's screen and keyboard from becoming obscured or hard to use. I will say that at this price, even if it broke after 4-6 months of use I would consider it money well spent.

As with other cases, you have to remove it before inserting into the OEM car mount. This doesn't appear to be a problem though, as the case is easy to remove because it is so flexible. I may even end up returning the OEM mount anyway. It seems pretty flimsy and I already have a RAM mount that I could buy a universal smartphone holder for which would hold the DROID just fine without having to remove this case.

The only complaint I have (which lowers my rating from 5 to 4 stars) is that the case I received was not painted evenly. You can tell on the sides that the spray paint was running low or something as they are a lighter blue than the rest of the case. The identical case I bought for my wife in Red does not have this issue.

Overall though, great case for anyone who doesn't want to spend much to protect their DROID. GTMax Dark Blue Durable Rubber Hard Snap On Crystal Cover Case for Verizon Motorola Droid A855 CDMA Cell Phone

This is a really cheap case, so I was expecting it to be badly painted or not fit. I'm glad I was pleasantly surprised! It looks really, really nice- it's a dark blue with purplish tints, and it fits on my Droid really well. Can't really ask for more!

I received it today and it is exactly what i ordered. it fits perfectly on my phone which is the original motorola droid.even though it is advertised as blue it DOES often look purple so if you dont like purple definitely dont order. also, it doesn't reek of spraypaint and no paint rubbed on my face.

Along with the snug fit I get a lot of compliments on the color. Great choice for a buy if you are considering. I purchased a black cover just like this from another vendor, and it did not fully fit over the corners of the phone right so it was a waste.

Pretty good for a "cheap" case. Only used it for a couple weeks. Dropped phone a couple times, the screen bezel popped off when it hit the ground, but it protected the phone from the impact. Only complaint (if you wanna call it that) is the dark blue looks almost purplish. - Droid - Faceplates - Motorola - Case'

Ipod Touch 4g Case - case, ipod touch

I was a huge fan of the Speck case for the 2G/3G iPod Touch (Speck PixelSkin Rubberized Case for iPod touch 2G,(Black)), so I waited a bit for the new 4G case to be released. Overall, I was not disappointed. The case is the perfect size for the 4th generation, although it does seem a bit less bulky than its predecessor. Surely, that's because the new Touch is smaller, and, therefore, they wanted the case to be smaller, but it gives the impression that it's not as protective as the 2G/3G case. Nevertheless, I'm fairly confident that the corners won't be damaged much by a drop.

But note that I only said the corners. The 2G/3G case had some material over the home button that, in addition to protecting the button and the bottom part of the iPod, also provided some rigidity to the bottom of the case, where an opening is required for the headphones and USB cable. Well, the 4G doesn't have that, meaning it takes minimal effort to push the bottom part of the case upward and, thus, expose the bottom edge of the iPod itself (i.e. the area around the ports) to damage. If you're unlucky, the iPod could drop in such a fashion that damage would be incurred there.

But, I'm still giving this case four stars. It provides sufficient protection without swallowing the iPod whole, has a great feel, and fits the iPod perfectly. It just has a few vulnerable areas, and loses some of the ruggedness existent within the 2G/3G case. Speck Rubberized PixelSkin Case for iPod touch 4G (Black)

I had a Pixelskin case for my Touch 3rd Gen and was very happy with it and this one is not much different. Like the other, it's not the most attractive case, but it will get the job done and has the advantage of being one of the first "big names" to market so I bet it will do well.

Some notes:

I was surprised at how little this adds to your iPod profile since it looks really bulky. Despite its low-profile, it provides just enough protection for your iPod to get you through daily use. It's no Otterbox, but it's a great in-between. You can also lay your iPod down on its face without worrying about scratching it up since there's enough rubber around the front of the case to keep the iPod itself suspended.

The case has rubber nodules built up around the power and volume buttons which makes them really easy to push. No more having to hit the power button with your thumbnail.

Could be a little bit tackier. The case is *almost* slippery and I wish the rubber they used had just a little bit more tack. It's not a deal breaker, just something I've always wished they'd done.

One disappointment: around the bottom of the case, there is only a thin strip of rubber dividing the sync-cable opening and the face opening. This is unlike their 3rd gen case which had rubber coming all the way up and actually covering the Home button. This strip is *really* narrow and just kind of flops around down there and I worry about it getting caught on something and tearing. That's what prevented this from getting 5 stars from me.

Aside from that, this is a top-notch case that fits perfectly and is not so outrageously expensive as some of the others out there.

I originally bought a older spec case for my second gen ipod touch that included the rubber case, screen protector film, and a belt clip that worked great. So when i upgraded to the 4g ipod touch i know exactly what case i wanted to get. this case case doesn't come with a plastic screen protector if you want one you'll have to purchase it separately another thing to note is the rubber that covered the home button is no longer there, its also harder to adjust the volume because on the 4g itouch the buttons are angled, the rubber doesn't seem as thick either but that may be to accommodate the fact that the 4th gen itouch is slim-er too

While I was never too interested in getting a screen protector for my new iPod Touch 32GB 4th Gen, I was interested in getting a case with it to protect it against normal daily use by a responsible adult. After reading many reviews I settled on this one, though it looked a bit bulky, especially for the extremely thin new iPod Touch.

My experience with the case after a fair amount of use is that it is a strong, solid, rubberized case that does a good job of protecting the iPod from regular usage. It is easy to apply and remove and yet maintains a snug and secure fit, though the bottom front of the case isn't as tight (which is a common issue with most cases, as the material at the bottom only covers a very small part of the iPod). It seems like it would also protect fairly well against short drops and bumps, and it's got a generous ridge surrounding the front of the iPod, which means that when placed face-down, or if it falls face-down, there is a good 1/4" or so of space between the screen and the surface.

The unit has the appropriate openings for the camera and microphone on the back, as well as the bottom of the unit, where the external speaker, docking port, and headphone jack are located. The bottom strip of material that covers the bottom of the iPod is more solid than most I've encountered, but it's also the unit's standout problem: the ridge comes right up against the bottom of the home button. The iPod Touch 4th Gen is slightly smaller than the previous iteration of the device, and as such there is less room for the home button. A bulkier and more solid case like this one doesn't block the Home button directly, but it does get in the way somewhat, since the average thumb that presses the home screen is larger than the home button itself. The back of the case also has the brand logo marked prominently on it, and this part noticeably sticks out while holding it, interrupting the uniform grid design on the back.

The case also has cover-integrated buttons that allow the user to control the exterior buttons without holes or case removal. The hold/lock button on the top right of the iPod is pleasingly easy to press. The volume buttons on the side, however, are much harder to navigate, and often require that I hold the unit with one hand while hitting the volume buttons with another. For a device that is so easy to use with a single hand, this is a small but notable issue.

The case is also less tacky than I'd hoped, at least at first. It's not completely lacking, but it won't stick as tightly to a non-porous surface as I would have liked (though it sticks extremely well to paper). After a few months, I noticed the unit did become more tacky, however, and it is less likely to slide around on a desk, office station, or table.

My case is black in color, and while it makes for a stylish yet neutral look, it does make my iPod difficult to find in low-light situations. This may or may not be an issue for others, but in retrospect I think I'd take the hit on style for something that stood out more for ease of identification.

The Speck PixelSkin HD is a good, rugged case that provides solid protection for your iPod, not only for the sides and rear, but also with a nice buffer for the front of the unit should it fall face-down. There is a small price to pay for all of this armor, however, and the volume and home buttons aren't as easily accessible as they could be. It's a solid case and I still recommend it as a nice insurance policy against regular daily use, but some may consider the added protection not worth the compromise and instead would opt for a thinner, more pliable case that offers a more seamless control experience. - Ipod Touch 4g Case - Ipod Touch - Case - Ipod Accessories'

Digital Audio Cable - digital audio cable, ipod cable

The price on this item was great, however when I tested it in my car with my iphone I found that it only works correctly if you do not move the cable/plugs while in use. After plugging it in, as soon as I moved my iphone to set it down the sound started to cut out. I then tried to test it by wiggling the plugs on both ends, and it appears that the plugs aren't sturdy enough to make a good connection with either device. I currently have a Dynex brand cable for my car for this purpose and it works great with no issues....when it is plugged in, no matter how much you move the cord or plugs the sound stays strong and doesn't cut out...it is much thicker and the plugs much sturdier than this cable which I believe to be the reason it works so much better. This cable was going to be for our boat stereo, however I went ahead and ordered the Dynex cable for just a couple dollars more and will trash this one....not worth sending back for the cost. Hope this information helps anyone who is considering buying this item. Professional Cable ST35MM-06 Stereo 3.5mm 6-ft M/M Cable - Black

Upon measuring the cord, I found that it was truly on 5 feet long, which isn't a big deal for my purposes, but may be an issue for others looking to purchase. Other than that, it is a good product at a good price.

I have had this now for a few weeks. The moment I took it out of the package and hooked it to my stereo i knew there was a problem. My reason for buying this was to use to connect my ipod to my stereo. At first I thought maybe a speaker was out. But no, i started to move the cord around when moving my ipod and the music was cutting in and out. Now I have to sit there and move it around until it finally works. I wouldn't recommend this unless you have extra time on your hands....

You know what they say, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". The cable is thick and the connections look substantial, but looks can be deceiving. The connections are poor, resulting in that awful crackling sound that is made while you twist the connection trying to get the sound to come through clearly. I tried it with two different IPods and the problem remained. For the price, less than $3.00, it was not an expensive mistake, but it was still a mistake.

These cables do not work well. When I took it out of the package I was not impressed with the thickness of the wire. They seem very cheaply made. Considering the price, I guess it's not surprising. It wouldn't be a big deal if the cable actually worked. The sound is intermittent when connecting my mp3 player to my car stereo. The wire needs to be bent a certain way for the sound to work. I will be throwing it away and purchasing a different cable.

Works just as i wanted to. I have a cable like this before but it wasnt long enough so i got this in a longer length. I connect my computer to the back of my Sony Bravia 40" HDTV and I have an optic cable from my tv to my Sony 7.1 AV receiver so i get the surround sound from my receiver for all the programs i run on my computer. Lots of different uses for this cable, not just for headphones, ipods or mp3s. Enough said.

I bought this so I could connect my MP3 play to my vehicle's sound system. The cord feels durable even though it seems "thin". The rubber feels very strong, but it is flexible unlike thicker, traditional audio cords, which allows for easier folding to get it out of the way. The sound quality is superb through it. - Cable Connectors - Ipod Cable - Audio Cables - Digital Audio Cable'

Monitor Cable - pc to tv, cable

Like I write in the title I use this from my laptop to 32" LCD TV! Only reason to do so is to play Netflix instant movies from the "net" without having to watch them on the laptop's 15" screen! At 10' I can pretty much place the laptop anywhere I choose.

You'll need a 3.5 stereo audio cable to tranfer the sound. It plugs into the earphone jack on the laptop.

You could just as easily do the same thing with your desktop PC to your LCD TV, so long as you have the connectors match up.

Lastly, it is a way to use your TV as a monitor, whether or not you play movies. Cables To Go - 28012 - 10ft Pro Series HD15 M/M SVGA Monitor Cable with Ferrites (Black)

Recently moved some things around in my home office...including my PC which meant my 6' monitor cable that came with it was too short...rather than use an extension cable because I've heard they are not as good as an option due to loss of signal strength etc., I opted for this as a replacement cable. I looked at several others in the 10 foot range...read somewhere over 12 feet and you start to lose signal strength and I just needed a couple more feet. The others I looked at...a Belkin for over $20.00, and another for $4 bucks and change...neither had Ferrites and this one did for around $8. Tiger Direct sent it so fast I almost found it on my door step after I hit Place Order on Amazon.com...very nice. I have a big 21" Nokia 445PRO from a long time ago...and this cable give me a nicer picture than the original cable that came with the monitor...no Ferrites there on the original either. Anyway...quality product...great seller.

It works, it connects laptop to flatscreen tv and a projector (not at the same time!). Image quality looks good to me. I see no fault.

If you're wondering - YES you do need a separate audio jack cable to connect the sound output from a laptop to your tv.

Thanks for the excellent cable! I used this cable to connect my laptop to JVC 1080p HD TV (video only, no sound. This cable means to connect to TV as monitor). The display on my TV is much better than my LCD laptop display. The cabe is really thick but very soft and flex so it can turn conners.

Note everybody that the cable is not SVGA but it is UVGA that is the highest quality available and supports HD 1080p. You can check that from the vendor's web. The price is cheap. I saw an SVGA cable in one local store for >$50! So go for it. Now I can use my 40" digital TV as a huge monitor!

Was looking for a way to get Netflix Instant Movies to my LCD TV. The LCD has many different connectors, one being a VGA. Tried and older cable, but it was missing some pins and the image was not crisp. My laptop has WiFi and has bandwidth for movie. Got this cable and everything worked great. Had to reconfigure the display driver from 1200X800 to 1360X768 and it worked like a charm.

I'm getting beautiful 1920x1080 on my LCD TV from my computer with this cable. However, I think I should have gotten the shorter length, this length was to reach the coffee table, now I think it's better to have the computer near the TV, and use a wireless media center keyboard instead.

I ordered a cable so that I could hook my computer to my TV. The cable came quickly and worked well for a time. After a few days the cable stopped working. I contacted the company and they replaced the broken cable with no questions asked. It's good to deal with a company that cares about the satisfaction of their customers.

This was a great buy. A friend of mine purchased it and he loves it as well. Some complain about a missing pin, who cares? It will work perfectly for hooking your computer/laptop up to your HDTV (if it has the right port available). - Pc To Tv - Vga Cable - Cable - Vga'

Alternative Health Books - ibs, healthy living

Huffnagle's "Probiotics Revolution" is written by a reputable scholar and scientist in an approachable but not overly simplified manner. The book is organized in 3 sections:

Part 1: The Promise of Probiotics (4 chapters) gives the scientific background for by the book by describing immune system functioning, the effects of antibiotics, and the relationship between immune system functioning and inflammation, which is at the basis of so many diseases. A key idea is that, for optimal functioning, we need to populate our gut with "good bacteria" to crowd out and make life inhospitable for "bad bacteria."

Part 2: Preventing and Treating Disease (5 chapters) deals with particular diseases that are benefitted by the use of probiotics, particularly digestive and urogenital diseases and allergic responses, plus discussion of the general use of probiotics for health and more speculative discussion of the potential for probiotic benefits for other inflammation-based disorders such as cancer and cardiovascular disease.

Part 3: Promoting Microbial Blanace: What You Can Do (7 chapters) discusses food and supplement sources of probiotics and "prebiotics" (foods such as fruits, veggies, and whole grains) that provide nutritional support for the probiotics. (Although there is no separate chapter, another key term from the book is "metabiotics," the metabolic products of probiotics, which provide some benefit even when the bacteria themselves have died--this is why cooked foods such as pasteurized yogurt or sourdough bread can still show some benefit.) Detailed charts discussing the particular species content of different supplements and indicating which species have been scientifically demonstrated to benefit which disorders are included. The book concludes with a general food plan, a discussion of how to get kids to eat more healthfully (illustrated with amusing anecdotes with his own children), and some recipes, focused mostly on recipes for those with a busy lifestyle who do not want to spend a lot of time on food preparation.

I highly recommend the book for its scientific basis and accessible presentation. My one criticism is that I thought that the recipes section was a little paltry, particularly with regards to its selection of main dishes (only two, one of which was nachos, not something I normally think of as a main dish). Overall, an excellent and practical resource.

I have read many books on the topic of probiotics. This was the best one by far. It tells you the latest studies on the subject and discusses all it can do for you. It includes diet as well as supplements. It was enjoyable learning about this topic. It doesn't claim things that are not proven yet. The best part was the wonderful recipes at the end.

After several courses of antibiotics, my health had deteriorated and no longer responded well to more antibiotics: infections would get better for a week or so and then get worse again just as I thought I had gotten better. I turned to probiotics as a last resort and now wish I had turned to these 'good bacteria' long before. Huffnagle & Wernick's book not only explains how these good bacteria work inside our bodies, it also has a list of probiotic products that have been tested and shown to be effective. I took the book with me when I went to my local health food store and used the product list. For that alone, this book is a great resource. If you have recurring UTI or impetigo, give probiotics a try!

I bought this book in conjunction with purchasing a home yogurt-maker. It's written in an easy-to-understand style and makes a great argument for including probiotics in your daily diet. With all of the antibiotics in our medicine, food and soap, it's important to know how to replenish the good bacteria in our bodies.

I have read this book all in the same day I picked it up from the library. It is well written and does not condescend to the reader yet thoroughly explains the science behind probiotics, and how to apply this knowledge. I intend to read more and thoroughly revamp my diet.

The anecdotal bits and the studies cited were enough to convince me of a connection between probiotics and many major health issues. I intend to conduct my own study using my, and my family's health!

Thanks!

Author & Book Views On A Healthy Life!

Book Review: The Probiotics Revolution by Gary Huffnagle and Sarah Wernick

Probiotics are the good microbes found in many foods. In short, they keep your gut bacteria in check, helping to prevent gum disease, ulcers, and other diseases by enhancing the immune system. Dr. Gary Huffnagle, author of The Probiotics Revolution and Professor of Internal Medicine, Microbiology, and Immunology (University of Michigan Medical Center) researches probiotics. He states that probiotics should be "one of our essential food groups because they provide nutrients just as important to our health as vitamins and minerals." Practicing what he preaches, Dr. Huffnagle has his family eating probiotics daily.

Most of us have heard of yogurt containing these beneficial bacteria, but few know about kefir--a fermented milk drink. Found in health food stores and larger supermarkets, it like yogurt is available both plain, lowfat, fruit flavored, and organic. Kefir is prepared by mixing milk with a starter called "kefir grains," and then allowing it to ferment. This optimizes the probiotic content. Dr. Huffnagle explains that the amount of probiotic content in kefir is inferior when compared with yogurt, but the variety of good bacteria is better. In fact, the bottle of kefir in my refrigerator contains ten varieties of live cultures, whereas my yogurt has three. For better digestive and immune system health, eat both yogurt and kefir. Incorporated into a healthy diet, Dr. Huffnagle recommends one to three, 8 ounce servings of fermented dairy daily.

Wireless Accessories - cell phone, wireless accessories

I bought what was supposed to be an unlocked blackberry storm 2 from Mojos Closet. When the phone arrived and on inspection the phone was not new, it had a verison number and was defective and no manual. I spent over $400 USD and I am without a proper phone. This was my worst experience and I intend to take this matter to Amazon for a resolution. I contacted Mojos Closet all I received was a rude and disrespectful feedback. I will not recommend Mojos Closet ever again if this is the service granted. Blackberry Storm2 9550 Unlocked Phone with Touch Screen, Wi-Fi, 3.2MP Camera and GPS - Unlocked Phone - No Warranty - Black

After experiencing problems with the original Blackberry Storm, Verizon eventually upgraded me to the Storm 2. I have to say that, for the most part, I have been satisfied with this phone. The touchscreen keyboard is only functional for me when it is in the wider landscape mode. When I try to type in the portrait mode, my fingers cannot hit the correct keys simply from the standpoint of spacing. The keys are just too close together. The one issue I experience consistently is when I try to hit the "a" button I instead get a "q" which I do find frustrating. From the standpoint of overall ease of use, this phone is pretty simple to operate. A good number of apps are available including internet based radio from Slacker, Pandora, and i-Heart radio. You can use an aux cable to connect the phone to your car's radio and play these stations through your sound system. The calendar function, contacts, and e-mail all work extremely well on this phone. Occasionally, the phone does freeze which requires a soft reset by removing the battery. For whatever reason, these issues seem to have been minimized over the past six months or so. After a somewhat rough start with the Storm line of phones, I would now have to say that I do enjoy the Storm 2.

First of all, for a long time blackberry user coming from a hardware keyboard to a touch screen, I find it miserable dealing with blackberry storm 2 touch screen keyboard. My confident level of typing correct words is lower than 50%. I own a ipad, tried iphone, no comparison there. RIM, this is something that really needs to be improved on.

Orientation response is also slow, Pinch and swipe are slow too. It makes me feel like I'm using a 386 PC or a 56K dial up if you know what i meant. Picture rendering is also slow.

Overall, a thumb down.

Given the usability and power of the Blackberries I have used so far, I was having high expectations when I bought this Phone. But it lasted only until I got the phone. Setting up the phone was not so straight forward. Not because of the UI or anything, but RIM's much touted implementation of touch screen. While every other touch screen implementation is a "touch screen", RIM's implementation is a combination of touch and click. So if you want to click a button, the touch will select the button and pressing again to click will trigger a real press on the button. While in theory this can save the user from unwanted clicks, the main issue with this is that the click doesn't work really well in every part of the screen. Especially when you have a button on top left corner, clicking that will take all the energy you have. I almost felt like I will break the screen. The clicks on the center of the screen as smooth enough so its not a big deal for most buttons. Except when you use keyboard. I really dont know how a company like RIM is allowing such a product to be released to the market when such a big usability issue exists.

the next big problem with the phone is with the network service. While it supports data via Wifi and 2g/3g networks, I dont see an option to force the phone to use only the Wifi network for data. ( Or at least this is not so intuitive if such an option exist).

Installing and using apps also was not so simple. I downloaded and installed Google Talk, and on trying to login, it keeps giving me a message that The service is not enabled for this phone. I am not sure what this means at all. For comparison, I have done this on an Andriod phone and that was pretty straight forward. No issues at all..

In short, If you are a techie who wants some adventure ( really?? There are so many better ways to get the thrill than setting up and using a phone). Stay away from this.

Or if you need enterprise email etc and have an IT department to help you setup this for you, then you may consider this. Or else never even think of it. Android is way better for the common man.

I've been using an iphone then a Blackberry 8520, so:

PROS:

-it came with 16GB micro sd card from blue electronics. thats great!

-camera photos and video quality.

-BB software stuffs: messengers, browsers, etc.

CONS:

-would be hard to write on the touchscreen virtual keyboard if you've ever used a normal qwerty keyboard. In general, iphone touchscreen much better than 9550 touchscreen.

-when you click something you really need to click it pressing down the screen like a button, that's weird. its the first touchscreen that really meant the click action.

-this smartphone has 3G SINGLE BAND 2100.... too bad

Compact Refrigerators - compact refrigerators, vemma

I needed something to fit in the old space where a trash compactor was in my kitchen. It looks very nice and sleek, better than I even expected. I am satisfied with my purchase, but wish it were a bit quieter and kept the drinks a bit colder. That being said, I am now used to it's "hum" and the kids and husband find the temp just fine. It is great for juice boxes, cans or wine bottles... the interior allows for a flexible arrangement. We even have oranges in there now. So overall, 4 stars as a second drinks fridge. BCA31SS Beverage Center

If you want a refrigerator, order one. This is a drink COOLER. It is quite tall so it may sit above the height of most office furniture if you plan to use it as a stand-alone. It is a very good looking unit. The LED lights on the inside don't offer a uniform illumination but do have a pretty blue hue.

The fridge itself will accommodate anything from sodas to full sized champagne bottles, however, you may want to get some additional organizer racks for soda vending as the unit is set upmore like a standard fridge than a vending machine.

The unit is quiet, elegant, and efficient. It does not make ice. Again, if you want something that gets your drinks ice-cold you will have to do without the glass front.

We purchased this product because the old fridge we were using broke down for good. Now with this new fridge they can see the sandwiches in the window prompting them to buy more sandwiches thereby increasing our profits to help with paying our bills/ This purchase helped achieve our financial goal and will continue to help us in the future I owe my thanks to Amazon and Avanti. - Compact Refrigerators - Vemma - Verve - Beverage Fridge'

North America - 3d movie, canyon

I haven't seen that many IMAX films on the Grand Canyon so I won't be able to give any real comparisons, but I will say this one does at least deliver on what I was looking for: Nice wide footage of the Grand Canyon. Although most of the footage is personal shots of the expedition you do get some really good aerial footage as well as other impressive nature shots.

The difference between this particular documentary and what I would normally expect from a Grand Canyon is that it has a conservation message tied to it. Instead of focusing solely on nature's wonder there is a lot of footage on the effects of drought and siphoning of the Colorado River. So if you are looking for a full-on nature safari this isn't exactly it. At the same time it's not like you aren't getting any absolutely amazing footage either. Just not as much as I was expecting.

Like many IMAX films coming to Blu-Ray the AVC transfer is breathtaking. The 3-D on this release is indeed in full 1080p as opposed to the 720p some studios are mulling over for their 3-D BD releases. Every little detail will stand out, even on the included 2-D version (even if those details won't come out and touch you). The audio is equally immersive with the DTS HD MA 5.1 track getting you wrapped up in the sounds of the canyon all over. There is also a German DTS HD audio track. Unfortunately like the original Blu-Ray release I think there are no subtitles of any kind. There are a somewhat respectable list of extra features on this release, which I suppose is better than expected. Most of the extras are standard definition with the exception of one. Here is what you get:

- 30 Minute Making of Featurette chronicling the challenges of shooting in IMAX 3-D.

- Music video by Wade Davis' daughter, Tara singing "Water"

- IMAX feature trailers in HD

It looks like they took out some of the features that are on the 2-D only Blu-Ray released a little while back like the HD MFF IMAX Productions retrospective, conservation tips, fact sheet and trivia. I guess you can say it's small price to pay for the 3-D aspect. Still some will miss the retrospective.

Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk is a very worthwhile documentary that shows the real beauty of the Grand Canyon... if you don't mind the preachy parts. Of course conservationists will really appreciate the fact filled message as well as the eye candy. The IMAX theater release was also in 3-D so now you get the full experience of this 40 minute feature... well... aside from the massive IMAX viewing screen of course. IMAX: Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk [Blu-ray 3D]

My ratings are based mainly on the QUALITY OF THE 3D, not the video content.

Not counting a few shallow effects, there are 11 out of screen effects. 4 that extend about 10% of the way, from the screen to the viewer and another 3 around 25%. Bubbles float around extending up to 50% for 90 seconds. Grinding sparks shoot out for 15 seconds up to 50%. A fishing net hangs out 35% for 15 seconds and there is a floating window at about 20%. The effects in the menu are also very nice.

No real complaints about the in screen 3D. Most of the footage is clear and excess parallax only showed itself a few times.

*** Nice scenery and wild river shots ***

*** The bubbles floating around in mid air are pretty cool ***

MY 3D RATING = GOOD (poor, fair, good, very good, excellent)

Note: As far as the percentages go, everyone's eyes are different. What I see at 25% you may see at 15% or 35%. To fully realize how far something is out of the screen for you, pause on an effect and direct a partner with an extended finger to the tip of what you are seeing. You may be surprised.

I just got a 3d TV in July 2010. This DVD is by far the best Bluray 3D to date. I am buying all that are generally released since so many are being tied to buying the sets now a days. (A practice that is hurting the very customers that support 3D by buying a 3D TV, then can only get certain movies)

An interesting story, that is a little one sided, but nevertheless truthful, tied together with breathtaking cinematography.

One of the few 3D movies released to date that not only shows 3D depth, but sends the picture towards you. Other 3D movies do this, but only for a moment or two. This production is great at that. The resolution is crisp and clear. The colors of the canyon really get shown off. Beautiful. Makes me want to go there on my next vacation.

A great film of one of our most treasured natural resources. The best 3D to date. You can't go wrong here...

The 3D isn't all bad, but if you are looking for some 3D material for the sake of 3D Blu-ray this is not it. Yes there is 3D and some short shots look decent, but all in all the 3D is poor and the story is even worse. I watched half the disc and couldn't make it through... put it on eBay and got it out of here. I am an environmentalist, but the doom and gloom and preachy story about water conservation was just over the top and incredibly lame. IMAX could have at least made the visuals good, but they failed on this as well. Don't buy.

This is a well done 3D disc. The video quality is fantastic. Discs like this should be included with every 3D tv to showcase the new technology and potential of it. If you own a 3d tv this is a great disc to showcase your tv to friends , its not too long , the video quality is great.

I figured that for $10.99, I couldn't go wrong. It appears I was right. The photography was excellent and the 3D effects very good, over all, having only a very few areas that seemed a little flat. I found it quite enjoyable and thought its message was pretty much on target.

I'd like to address those one star reviews. With the exception of the guy who didn't realized special equipment was needed to view the film in 3D, they all come from the political right. Mention conservation or ecology to them and they immediately foam at the mouth. They've bought the gospel of Exxon-Mobile, Chevron, et al, hook line and sinker. There was even one guy who declared global warming defunct. I wonder how he explains disappearing glaciers and melting polar ice caps. - Grand Canyon - North America - Canyon - 3d Movie'

Ipod Touch Accessories - stylus pen, stylus

These stylus are very well made and work very well, if all you want to do is find an alternative to pressing the onscreen keyboard. However, these stylus are totally useless for use with a drawing program because the rubber tip will not glide across the screen. If you use your iPhone outdoors and you are wearing gloves, these stylus are for you. If you want to draw, then you'd be better off with a stylus with a soft foam tip. 3 Pack of Universal Touch Screen Stylus Pen (Red + Black + Silver)

Short and sweet:

I've tried three of the stylus brands offered on Amazon: The $15.00; the $11.99 aCase; and the cheap three-pack "Universal Touch Screen Stylus.".

It is easy to tell you which not to buy: the cheap ones. The rubber tips on them have too much friction. You can't write or draw easily; you literally feel like the Stylus is getting stuck on the screen. Guaranteed, one zillion percent, you will hate it.

Now, to the Boxwave vs. the aCase.

This isn't just a draw; there's not even a fight, because the two products are exactly the same (there's one subtle difference in the way the little headphone-jack string insert is attached to the pen. One uses a tiny, carbiner-type hook, and the other a ring. You'd probably never notice the difference, because there is non.

So, which to buy? The aCase is three dollars cheaper, but it only comes in black. That's it.

Boxwave: http://www.amazon.com/review/create-review/ref=cm_cr_dp_wr_but_right?ie=UTF8&nodeID=172282&asin=B000ETU944&store=electronics

aCase: http://www.amazon.com/Acase-Apple-Capacitive-Stylus-Black/dp/B003ULE6GU/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_0_1

Three-pack: http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Touch-Screen-Stylus-Silver/dp/B002BBJMO6/ref=pd_cp_e_3

I should have read the reviews carefully.

Do not buy this if you want to use it with your iPhone to draw, slide the screens or do anything cool.

The tip is very soft and you need to put some effort in pressing it against the screen. If you try to slide it, you are in danger of damaging the screen since the tip moves away and the hard plastic of the stylus can scratch your precious sceeen.

This is probably good if you are missing a finger or you are wearing gloves and your apps are in the main screen.

There are three (3) types of touch screens, buy the correct stylus for your screen.

From eHow:

Resistive-type screens lack the clarity of other touch screens but they tend to be very durable and can be used in a variety of environments. Resistive-type screens are the most common in use today.

Capacitive screens are resistant to outside elements, making them very durable, and they still maintain a high clarity. Unlike resistive and surface wave screens, which can be used with stylus, capacitive panels must be touched with a finger.

Surface wave touch panels are the more advanced of the three types, offering the highest clarity. But they are more easily damaged by outside elements.

[...]

The iPad has a capacitive touch screen, your gloves won't work, and that plastic stylus from your old Palm PDA won't work either. Buy a capacitive stylus for your iPad.

For reaching those peskly small areas on your iPod Touch screen, the Universal Touch Screen Stylus Pen does the trick! They are comfortable in the hand and helps to make some of those tasks easier on the iPod Touch. If you have trouble with fingers that don't quite work the way you wish, then this is another reason to consider purchasing these pens.Silver Universal Touch Screen Stylus Pen for Apple Iphone 1st Gen, 3G 2nd Gen, Ipod Touch

The price and shipping time on this item are great. Sadly, the item itself is basically useless. I bought this for my iPad and it works but you have to mash really hard and then it leaves a funky streak mark and it's hard to get it to work and then it isn't very precise. I bought it to have a stylus to use with a drawing app and given how big the tip is and hard I have to mash to get it to work it's much less useful than simply using my finger.

This is a very nice stylus with a soft rubber tip. They work great on my Instinct and with the rubber tip there is no fear of scratching the screen. My only "issue" is that the stylus are to thick to fit into the stylus pocket on the stock Instinct case... but the size does make the stylus much more easier to control so you're more accurate with them. I'm glad I ordered the three pack because I can just keep one at work, one in the car, and one at home.

With fat fingers and hands that sometimes shake, these styluses worked great on my iPad AND my DroidX phone. I often give them away to friends and have ordered about four packs so far! For the price, it's worth a try! - Ipad - Stylus Pen - Iphone Stylus - Stylus'

Black Ink Cartridge - brother, inkjet printer ink

I cannot believe the quality of this ink at half the price of the brand name Brother ink. It's incredible. I was scared to order it b/c it was half the price. The Brother ink cartridges are [...] for black and [...] each for the other 3 colors. I was sitting here for weeks out of ink b/c I didn't have [...] to spend on ink.

It's funny too b/c I only bought the printer this spring and it was out of ink w/in 3 mos. The manufacturer knows they're doing that and that is the "scam" in my opinion.

I'm very happy with this ink and this distributor. Will always buy the no-name brand ink cartridges in the future. Thanks to all the other reviewers for giving their thumbs up and pushing me to take the chance too! You will not be sorry. Great quality. 10 Pack Of Non-OEM LC61 Ink Cartridges (4Blk & 2 Ea Of Cyan, Magenta and Yellow)

I have already reviewed the product once and gave not so much the product, but the supplier a low rating. The original issue was that there was no instructions provided with the product. The product had a slightly different packaging configuration from the original manufacturer. It was not obvious how to provide access to the ink, and removing the sealed cover was not an easy task. I was not sure if covering to the ink had to be removed completely or just some sort of hole made in the hard glued on plastic covering. I could not find easy access to the supplier, which after a lot of research on my part I determined was somewhere in mainland China. I then attempted to communicate with them to get further information. It was not until I left a low rating on their product that they contacted me, trying to get me to change my rating. This was a "fox was already let into the hen house" kind of thing. One does not change a rating just because the vendor wants you to do so. They seemed not to understand this rationale. I received a couple more emails requesting that I change my rating. For this new rating, I have increased my rating by a couple of stars due to the fact that the product seems to be functioning well. However, I am not sure I would order this particular product again due to the inability to communicate adequately with the supplier. They need a stateside customer relation and support group that can understand and respond promptly to any inquiry about the product.

I don't normally write reviews, but this is too good to be true. Low Cost, excellent quality and they last quite long. This is the second type cartridge from this brand that I have purchased (my previous Brother printer was struck by lightning) and both printed excellent quality and the price is unbelievable! I would say the quality is a little short of the brother brand, but I printed wedding invitations for my Sister's Wedding on a transparent material and they looked great! Incidentally, I tried to print the invitations on a similar HP multifunctional machine and a HP laser printer and both had problems with the ink/toner adhering to the surface. I am cheap so I love the fact that I can print with out a worry of how much this is costing me. Only reason it's not four star is because I don't believe in giving 5 stars and 4 1/2 was not available.

This is my second order on this non-OEM ink. I was very skeptical as I've tried other non-OEM inks in the past with little success. However, this stuff has worked great so far in the few weeks that I've had them installed. You cannot beat this price for a such a reliable product.

i just installed the black ink cartridge and at first everything appeared fine but a few hours later the ink LEAKED ALL OVER MY PRINTER!! on the instructions it says to remove only the yellow tape - but there was no yellow tape. since i ordered a multi pack, i opened another cartridge and this too has no yellow tape.

Is there anything i am missing here?

First the good. These are quality ink cartridges, vacuum packed as you would expect. They come in boxes marked www.gener-ink.com, and appear to be made by Zhuhai Reasson Electronic Co., Ltd. - China. See here: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/275284288/Compatible_ink_cartridge_for_Brother_LC.html and here:http://www.reasson.cn/en/product/ink/2009/1207/51.html. They are sold here on Amazon by ink4print AKA: David & Jonathan Trade of FL http://inksellonline.com/.

Now the bad. I ordered 3 of these 5-packs. Unfortunately, they shipped the wrong ink cartridges (LC-51 instead of LC-61). They "don't do prepaid return shipping labels", so I had to pack them up, take them to the post office, and ship them back on my own dime. They DID credit my Amazon account for the return postage and DID ship the correct ink cartridges pretty quickly, so I'm only deducting one star for the mistake.

So far, this ink is a great deal, and I'm happy I bought it. I ordered this with my Brother MFC-490CW Color Inkjet Wireless All-in-One Printer, and it has worked great so far. Instalation of the replacement ink was a breeze, and the price was amazing. No complaints here, and I will be purchasing again. - Brother - Ink Cartridge - Inkjet Printer Ink - Ink Cartridges'

Grant Wood - nike plus, shoe pouch

I was looking for a Nike + iPod sensor pouch that would attach to the velcro strap on one of my Vibram Fivefingers KSOs. Most of the pouches for this sensor are designed for shoes with shoestrings, and would either not fit or be so loose the sensor would flap around. This pouch fits tightly on the velcro strap, looks good, and is a good price. Highly recommended. iArmBands Shoe Pouch / Sensor Case for Nike + iPod Sport Kit for iPod nano / touch / itouch (Black)

The pouch itself seems to be made from a nice cushiony black material and I think that it should hold up well. The accuracy has been slightly variable but not enough for me to complain too greatly about it.

The problem is that after approximately 6 runs with this in two shoelaces, the red strip of material on the back became loose and the whole thing fell off. Luckily I was on the treadmill to recalibrate my sensor and it only flew back a couple feet. The stitching that keeps that strip attached is very weak. When I looked at it again it seemed to be attached about about 4 loops of stitches and it wasn't very sturdy.

Fortunately I've just looped the flap under my shoelaces and velcro-ed the flap over the shoelace to keep the pouch in place. The velcro has held on thus far for an additional 20 runs and I seriously hope it holds on for a while longer or else I will be extremely disappointed by the product.

I really like the the armband carrier. Stays securely

fastened on the shoe when you run it through your shoe laces twice.

The only draw back is that it's off a little with tracking your pace. It doesn't track as well as when the sensor is

embedded in the sole of a shoe. Overall it's a good product.

I purchased this sensor pocket used it, but found my Nike +iPod distance to be very inaccurate. Fastening it using the lace hoop through one set of laces didn't work well at all. Stretching it some and running two sets of laces through that loop caused me to be concerned. The small amount of hook and loop fastener keeping the flap closed seemed like it could let go. I stopped using it since even with both sets of laces holding it the accuracy was just so-so, and not worth loosing my sensor. - Running - Belkin - Nike Plus - Shoe Pouch'

Lens Accessories - lens accessories, canon lens

I would suggest anyone who is considering purchasing this hood to strongly reconsider. A rubberized collapsible hood is the way to go.

While the 50mm f/1.8 is an exceptionally affordable lens and produces great photos, it has substantial weak points due to its plastic construction that prevent the use of a lens hood. The lens hood is very susceptible to sideways knocks which are exacerbated when the lens hood is attached. I bumped mine and as most people found, the front element dropped off. The interior of the lens is held together by four plastic clips. One or more of the tabs will be broken and while it is possible to re-attach it, the lens will be wobbly or have a much grittier auto-focus noise.

So, buyers beware: The increased leverage on the front element produced by this lens hood will break apart the lens upon a sideways impact especially when the front element is extended. Fotodiox Dedicated Lens Hood, for Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens as Canon ES-62

I read the reviews on the Canon ES-2 lens hood for the Canon EF 50mm lens. Some reviewers commented on it being a 2 part hood and having difficulty with the clips. So I ordered the Fotodiox instead and am glad I did. It simply screws on to the lens like screwing on a filter, easy on and easy off. I use a 52mm UV protective filter over my 50mm lens and the hood screws on to it perfectly. The Canon lens cap also fits over the lens with the hood on, so I can store my lens with the hood attached. The lens cap actually expands to the sides of the hood instead of going over the lens, but it works and stays in place. The Fotodiox hood is plastic but seems to be well made and serves the purpose of blocking light from the sides. Overall, an excellent product.

I purchased this hood thinking it was an identical-functioning replica of Canon's official 50mm hood. While it functions well and is a great deal for a much lower price (than Canon's), please be aware that you cannot easily "unsnap" it from your lens/filter; it needs to be screwed on or off. That being the case, you also cannot apply your lens cap without unscrewing this hood and removing completely (kind of a pain). Nor can you fit this hood on backwards; like you can with Canon's hood, in order to fit your camera into a tight case or compartment.

But again, for 1/3 the price of Canon's, it's still a great deal.

I went with this lens hood for its significant lower price than the Canon one. It screws onto my Tiffen UV filter perfectly and I find that I have plenty of room to access the manual focus ring. However, it looses one star because I can not securely attach my lens cover. It kind of sits on a small ledge in the lens hood and will stay in place with no jostling what-so-ever, but it does not "snap" on as it does to the UV filter or the lens it's self. If this lens was a more expensive lens, I'd probably send the hood back, but it will do for a $100 lens. (Canon hood 1/4 of the price of the lens???? They've got to be kidding)

I received the Fotodiox Dedicated Lens Hood, for Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens as Canon ES-62 today (March 23, 2011).

Installed directly on top of the Tiffen lens filter, the fit & finished are outstanding with a fractional cost

when compare to the original Canon ES-62 that is cost much more.

I also be able to use the original Canon lens cap that provided with the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens,

the lens cap is seated inside of the lens hood's bottom rim perfectly!

For the cost, finished and perfect fit it is an excellent product. Highly recommended!

Got it quickly from seller that I can say I was pleased. But the hood lasted 1 hour.. THATS IT!!!! The screw in part was no good it doesn't lock and I wouldn't recommend anyone buying it. I am careful person when it comes to using my camera, and very dissappointed in the quality of this product. Never going to use it again because it can't lock in or be used for anything else.. - Lens Accessories - Canon - 50mm - Canon Lens'
