Gas-powered - good value, gas-powered

As stated in title - this seems to be a nice inexpensive chainsaw, my reason for purchasing. Price from Amazon was less than I found elsewhere. Case was smaller than other brands for this size saw (desired); the other major comparable brand was an ugly slime green color. The saw starts easily, runs smoothly, etc. Anti-vibe handle is uncommon in this price range. My only caveat is the cheesy plastic choke linkage. When it breaks (and I suspect it will) it can be replaced easily with some coat-hanger wire. McCulloch MCC1635A 16-Inch 35cc 2-Cycle Gas-Powered Chain Saw

Just got this McCullough saw today. It is a replacement for a 2.0 cuin. Homelite I have had for 12 years. Observations:

Packaging of saw is poorly done with it (the saw) being fully assembled and the bar sticking out (cardboard covered) to where it could be warped during shipment. Mine seemed ok but time will tell on bar wear.

Plastic covers and things like the choke are really crude compared to my inexpensive old 16in Homelite that was plastic as well. The gas and oil fillers have small openings and are placed side by side which I also do not like. The caps and stays are just poor quality.

After fueling and priming, saw seemed to start ok though it was hesitant to throttle up but being as it was 33F this might be the reason. Just did not run perfect during cutting some trees (oak about 10in thick) away from their stumps due to hesitation of pickup. Though with warmer weather this may improve.

Bar is not very good quality and might need replacement with a good Oregon manufactured one.

It is too bad that things just get poorly built these days. I had looked at comparable priced chain saws and they are worse than the McCullough in terms of quality. I would only recommend this saw to the hobbyist and not to anyone needing a production saw. I doubt it will last the 12 years my old Homelite did and the 30 years my bigger 24in Super XL Homelite is still going (not used as much the last few years). New Homelite chainsaws are not worth looking at. Oh well, I never had luck with Stihls in the past so not to many brands to choose from other than the real expensive saws.

The McCulloch MC1635A 16in. 35cc 2 cycle gas chain saw is a super machine. It was designed to reduce vibration and is very efficient with the gas and runs great. The automatic oiler is a no brainer, just fill with oil every time you fill the gas/oil mixture. Perfect size to cut down most trees. I cut down 3 large trees no problem with at least 14" trunks. Quick shipping. Excellent machine for the price!

I've run this saw's 14" brother, same but for chain-length, for 3+ years, cutting various hardwoods up to about 2' diameter, with consistently good results. It's had no problem ripping some big pieces to haulable size, also without clogging with chips.

Engine is surprisingly powerful for 35cc, well-silenced for both exhaust and induction, and well isolated via spring mounts; hearing protection still advised. Carb is supposedly not user-adjustable; I've not been tempted. Choke control needs a little upwards force to work smoothly. Saw routinely runs for ~1 hr. on its little tank (of 50:1 synthetic.) Mfg says 40:1. Clutch shows no tendency to slippage even when aggressively cutting seasoned black locust. Only maintenance so far has been occasional cleaning and hand-sharpening.

Overall combo of factors- weight, noise, vibration- enables long run-time per day, often negating power advantage of its "big brother." Fatigue reduction is a real plus for safety and long-term productivity. Automatic chain brake is very effective; DAMHIKT.

Quibbles:

My 1435a actually has an effective cutting length less than 13".

What appear to be small bucking teeth on crankcase casting next to bar are too rounded to grip, and knock cutting length below 13". There are drilled & tapped holes apparently intended to mount a set of teeth- which would further reduce cutting length. Likely its next bar will be 16", someday.

Oil and fuel tanks are molded into the _black_ plastic of the handle, making it difficult to see level while filling tanks; bar & chain oil is quite tacky and makes a real mess.

Overall:

Very nice package for the price. Overall operator safety obviously big design factor. Capable of cutting any piece of wood it can reach into, it's my saw of choice, along with similar-spec Poulan, except for cutting really big logs lying on the ground.

In the global economy, McCulloch is now owned by Husqvarna, as are Jonsered, Partner and Poulan; mine was made in Taiwan. Not a problem here.

This chainsaw is light weight and very easy to handle. It is good for small jobs like cutting off branches and cutting down small trees. If you need a chainsaw to haul wood, I think a bigger one would be necessary.

I ordered the McCulloch Mcc1635A 16 inch chain saw because McCulloch was at one time a great product, but I was unable to start it even one time. Called in to find out where I could take it and took it into the autorized dealer and was informed that it was an older model and they could not find the part needed. Now what do I do with this saw, as this is an item that cannot be returned to Amazon?????????????????????? Help is needed.

I reluctantly bought this saw because I had 5 good chains from my old Mac saw. However, it has exceeded my expectations and I have been very happy with the saw using it to cut down several large trees within a month. I would have given it 5 stars, but I did have to adjust the idle setting to get it to run properly due to the cold weather.

"CAVEAT EMPTOR" "BUYER BEWARE". I truly like this new saw. Trouble is it wouldn't run right out of the box. I called the Company 800 number and was told to take it to their authorized dealer. Which I did. After a $35 service charge it runs and cuts great. The dealer told me that if I had bought it from him in the first place, there would have been an under-warranty "no charge". This will be the last time I buy anything mechanical online.

Battery Backup - smoke alarm, smoke detectors

I didn't know about replacing smoke alarms every decade until very recently. The units in my home were two decades old, hardwired AC with no battery backup. They tested fine but after twenty years it is certainly time to replace them by any standard. There are three in my home, one on each floor.

After doing a bit of research and being a smart consumer, I decided the PI2010 was the best choice out there. I purchased them up at a local big box home center because the price was highly competitive with Amazon and I didn't have to wait for shipping (even free super saver shipping).

In the box was a mounting bracket, three-wire harness, instructions, screws, and the smoke alarm.

Installation was a breeze - shut off the power at the circuit breaker first, removed the old alarms and harnesses next. The instructions with the PI2010 made it clear to not pull out the battery shipping tab until the units all had AC power applied. The mounting bracket was able to use the existing screws so I didn't have to even remove them from the ceiling box. The harness wired up easily and after plugging it into the alarm it only took a small twist to secure it to the mounting mounting bracket. After turning the power back on, I pulled the battery tabs out of each alarm. I tested each one, and had a friend make sure the units on the other floors sounded also.

The alarms in this model are about twice as loud as my old smoke alarms, almost ear splitting loud so I believe there's no chance to sleep through it. A green LED tells you it has AC power and there is a red LED that flashes every so often to say it's working. I may find the 'hush' feature useful for my occasional kitchen disaster, but fanning a cookie sheet is my usual move when I burn something too crispy.

The fact that the battery compartment is on the backside does not detract from the alarm. just a simple quarter twist and the unit comes off the bracket. On that note, it does have an anti-tamper feature that if you choose to activate, removing it from the bracket requires a read through the instructions and a lot more effort.

All in all, it was a breeze to install, it looks and feels professional, it is the loudest alarm I've ever heard, and the hush feature is great.

I plan on extending the wiring and installing these in each of the bedrooms, above and beyond minimum code. Kidde PI2010 Smoke Alarm Dual Sensor with Battery Backup, White

Just bought a house and the smoke detector was over 20 years old. After looking at the various smoke detectors on the web, realized that I needed a dual alarm with both photoelectric and ionization sensors for best coverage. Most of the cheaper alarms are only ionization. This unit met my needs perfectly...

Dual sensor

Hard Wired (previous detector was hard wired)

Battery Backup

Hush button (for false alarms)

Got the alarm a few days before the estimated arrival date. Pulled the pieces out of the box (instructions, bracket, unit, and wiring harness), did a quick look through the instructions and went to work. It really only took me about fifteen minutes to install...most of that time taking the old units bracket down and putting up the new one. The wiring harness has three wires...black, white and red...but the red one has a plastic cover over the end in case you don't need to wire multiple alarms together.

After attaching the needed wires to the house electric with wirenuts and electrical tape, just attach the bracket to the wall, make the sure the included battery is isntalled in the unit, plug the wiring harness into the back of the unit and attach to bracket. Piece o' cake.

If your home already has a certain wiring harness, and you don't want to mess with electrical, I believe there are adaptors available for the back of this unit as well that can accept other shaped harnesses. Very convenient, if you need them. For me, it was pretty simple to cut the power and hook it up myself.

The battery replacement is not nearly as bad as others have described. Just twist the unit off from the mounting bracket, pull off the wired plug, and flip open the battery case. I was also happy to learn that if your house has the red wire, all the smoke alarms are interconnected. That is, if one smoke alarm detects smoke, all the alarms in the house will signal an alert. HOWEVER, all the smoke alarms must be the same! That is, when I initially installed my first PI2010, it kept beeping 3 times every few seconds. I later found it's because I hadn't disconnected my old smoke alarm in the second area. Once I installed both PI2010s in my house, everything worked fine.

I purchased 7 of this item because the smoke alarms in my home needed to be replaced (> 10 years old). This item is a replacement of the highly rated (Consumer Reports) Kidde model PI2000.

I can't rate the performance of this smoke alarm yet, but I wanted to warn other prospective buyers about what I consider a poorly placed battery compartment. The battery compartment for this item is located on the underside of the unit. To replace the battery, you have to unscrew the unit from the base plate.

I was considering returning my order, but read in the owner's manual that the unit will operate using 9-volt lithium batteries for backup. I did a little research on 9-volt lithium batteries and they supposedly will last longer than 9-volt alkaline batteries. I purchased 9-volt lithium batteries today and hopefully they will last at least 5 years. If not, replacing the batteries in these smoke alarms will become a pain.

I have 7 detectors in my home, the units provided by the builder 7 years were junk and malfucntioned at 2 years, numerous false alarms at 3:00AM (not Kidde). I realized i had disconected all but one of the crappy builder supplied units. A few months ago i installed 7 new units from Kidde. I used 5 dual sensor units, 1 with dual smoke and Carbon Monoxide, and one single unit photo electric on the main level close to the kitchen, some say the photo electric is better if it's closer to a kitchen range/stove. After 6 months, not one false alarm, they look nice, they are interconnected. I emailed Kidde prior to purchase to verify that these 3 units can be used together and are compatible when interconnected. I highly recommend Kidde, the dual sensor unit is a little pricey but worth it. - Smoke Alarm - Smoke Detectors - Battery Backup - Smokedetector'

David Guetta - Usher

For the hardcore Guetta fans out there, this album seems to offer a little bit of everything for everyone. Disc 1 includes the poppy collaborations we're familiar with over the span of the last few albums but disc 2 offers an awesome set assisted by Afrojack for a energetic music riot. If I had one gripe it might be the song "Repeat" with Jessie J (but this could be because I don't entirely like her music to begin with) but Jennifer Hudson's vocals on "Night of Your Life" are fantastic. Dev also gets in on the action with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Afrojack to produce a fun, Dev-typical song. If you like David Guetta already, you need this album. If you're just starting to like electronic music with hip-hop influences, you'll probably benefit from getting this album. Its not Tiesto or Armin Van Buren by any stretch of the imagination, but it also doesn't disappoint. Nothing But The Beat

I would've given it a full 5 stars if werent for the fact that most long time Guetta fans will be a bit disappointed.

If youre a long time house lover, look no further because youll feel betrayed with his new cd, full of more pop and hip hop elements.

However, any casual listener or pop lover (like me) will have a blast with this new record! Its full of promising top 40 hits and makes a good party mix.

Nothing But The Beat starts out with the two quick hit singles, "Where Them Girls At" (featuring Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj) and "Little Bad Girl" (featuring Taio Cruz and Ludacris). These two party jams and gems definetely make this CD, theyll be spun the most. Track 3 is the catchy yet easily forgettable "Turn Me On" (featuring, you guessed it, princess Nicki Minaj). Next is a Snoop Dogg remix originally produced by David Guetta, mostly instrumentl and might please original DG fans a little more. (Oh yeah, its called "Sweat"). Track 5, "Without You" (featuring Usher) is a definite highlight that no type of music listener will resist. Great vocals and touching lyrics. Tracks 6 and 7 are what will really piss off long time Guetta fans. Titled "Nothin Really Mattters"(featuring will.i.am.) and "I Can Only Imagine" (featuring Chris Brown and Lil Wayne). Although Chris's singing is a nice touch, both tracks are heavily auto-tuned and take part in the new hip hop/dance craze. I like them, but most wont. The next song, "Crank It Up" (featuring Akon) is worthy for a one time listen. Otherwise its more of an annoyance hearing it. Track 9, "I Just Wanna F.", (featuring Timbaland and Dev) is a collab of both Guetta's and Timbaland's mixing. VERY ANNOYING. Sounds nothing like DG, more like Missy-era beats. Avoid It, its the only song here I have to say is just TRASH. I Think where this record really shines is the last few tracks, "Night of Your Life" (featuring Jennifer Hudson), "Repeat" (featuring new star Jessie J), and "Titanium" (featuring Sia). These last three tracks are all brilliant dance cuts, with powerful vocals and meaningful lyrics.

Disc 2, with guest mixing from Afrojack and Avicii, will please the hardcore house audience. All 6 tracks, "Lunar", "Sunshine", "Toy Story", "The Future", "Paris" and "Glasgow" are all longer, sunny instrumental dance tracks. I highly recommend spending a few extra bucks on the deluxe version so you can get these 6 worthy compositions.

By the way, If you use itunes, theres an exclusive Nothing But the Beat track called "Im A Machine" featuring Crystal Nicole. GET IT!!!! its a massive club banger!

The album's fun to listen to, hearing contributions from cool A-list stars like Nicki Minaj, Usher, Afrojack, Jessie J, Akon and more.

Overall, your reaction to Nothing But The Beat just depends on your taste. As Ive mentioned MILLIONS of times, all pop, dance, and hip hop lovers will have a few favorites, while strict David Guetta fans will be very displeased. Thanks for reading, hope it helped your purchase blah blah blah.

Honestly, the CD is not that great. His last album, One Love, really grew on me, but this one, I just find myself skipping track after track until I give up. It's a shame becuase he has some great people on this album: Sia, Dev, Jennifer Hudson, etc. Jennifer and Sia's song are Okay at best. I wouldn't recommend it, cause I didn't find anything outstanding one here. Too bad.

One Love rocked.... it was a great balance of pop, techno, dance and had really nice variety from track to track so it was fun to listen to. For Nothing but the Beat, there seems to be a conscious decision to use the same formula for every track - it gets stale - very quickly. Without You (feat. Usher) is nice. But imo, there is a complete sell to poppy/trashy lyrics "atypical": Where Them Girls At, Night of your Life, I'm a Machine, I Just Wanna F. type of songs that unless you're 18 and hot to chase tail, this isn't an album for you. Bummer because One Love was such a great work to release crap like this right after is a lost opportunity.

I was born and raised in the South Bronx where hip hop and rap started and this guy is ruining this style of music and this CD is too commerical for my taste, and there is nothing aspiring about it. I saw this guy at the 2011 Electric ZOO festival and it look like he was faking it and plus he added a corny sample of the Legend of Zelda he tried to play trance but failed. When this guy decides to write his own music and create his own beats then he will be something someday. He needs to quit hanging out with these hip hop and rap artists, I heard a few tracks and this is not worth buying. I have seen and heard how hip hip and rap is revolving but this guy GUETTA needs to take lessons from Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, COSMIC GATE and Above and Beyond to learn how to mix Electronic Dance Music or at least do a better job incorporating hip hop pop into Electronic Dance Music. There is no substance to his remixes AVENNCI track is alot better and he did a remix for ARMIN VAN BUUREN's which is better than anything this guy puts out. All the trance DJ's that I mentioned could remix these hip hop and rap records better than GUETTA and it would not be just a 3 and a half minute song it would be anywhere from 6 to 7 minutes long.I have been listening to electronica for over 35 years (I stopped listening to rap and hip hop a long time ago) and trance for about 12 years and this is what hip hop and rap could offer then that style of music is in trouble. GUETTA, SWISS BEATS and Dr. Dre are only producers while the DJ's I just mentioned are both. They put more effort and creativity in their remixes, this is why trance comes out with more remixes than you can count. If you do not believe me just go to the website called A STATE OF TRANCE so you can hear what a remix suppose to sound like.'

Kohler Kitchen Faucets - pull-down faucets, kohler kitchen faucets

I've installed a number of faucets. None have been a breeze like this.

The Hot/Cold flexable hoses attached to the faucet have 3/8" female threads. On one hand this was great (no messing around with copper pipes as I've had in the past). On the other, I had to use a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter for my hookup.

The bottom of the faucet that connects to the counter top (I used it with an undermount sink, but you can use it with a surface mount sink too) had a really good rubber seal to stop leaks. Fastening it was easy using their mechanism, requiring only a screwdriver (no fiddling around with a large wrench in a tight space).

Finally the hose for the pull-out spray is the best design I've seen so far. Which is good, because I've found this is the one thing that has leaked on cheap faucets. It has a weight that fastens to the end of the hose to make returning the spray back to it's position very natural.

The black button on the top of the spray head to change from spray to stream was a nice touch :) KOHLER K-15160-CP Coralais Single-Control Pullout Spray Kitchen Sink Faucet, Polished Chrome

We're on a well system, so our water pressure is low anyway. We replaced a similar design non-Kohler faucet that provided adequate pressure. With this Kohler faucet, we get little more than a trickle on hot OR cold, despite all valves being fully open under the sink. The faucet was installed by a plumber who replaced the values and fully tested the system. He showed me the swivel point in the design of the hose on the faucet that greatly restricts water pressure.

Our faucet also arrived with a small blemish on the tip of the handle where the cream finish is missing. We couldn't wait for another unit though as our old faucet was broken. This was a disappointment, though.

Watch out for quality, and if you already have low pressure, look elsewhere.

I bought this to replace one that had been given to me that wouldn't stay together and leaked about every 4 weeks. The water line inside the flexible hose under the sink kept popping off the fitting. After having a plumber look at the way the old one went together and being told it was a design flaw I decided to replace it with this Kohler. The faucet installed quickly and looks gorgeous! This one has a more secure connection in the flexible hose to keep the water line in place. Its water line connections are shorter than the previous one so I had to get extensions to connect it without stressing the lines. The flexible hose is also shorter, but that just means it can't catch on the pipes and knobs under the sink which is part of what caused the old one to come apart. The weight on the flexible hose is also different. The old one had a doughnut-shaped weight that moved along the hose. The Kohler's weight attaches to a single spot and stays there. It doesn't slide along the hose like the old one which I think may also have contributed to the leak problem.

It's been installed now for just over a month, and there have been no problems and no leaks so far. Its operation is also smoother than the one it replaced, both for turning it off and on and changing water temperature. One difference I've had to get used to is the old one automatically reverted to stream whenever the water was turned off. This one stays in whichever mode you put it until you change it. Turn the water off with it set to spray, and it will still be set to spray when you turn it back on. It's just different from what I was used to, but I think I like it better.

Between the faucet itself and Amazon's great price on it, I am very, very pleased with my purchase of this Kohler faucet.

We had new Corian counter tops installed and choose this faucet as a replacement for our old faucet. We really like the clean look. The faucet's one touch spray or stream feature works very well. The pullout feature works as expected. The faucet being new we have no idea how it will hold up over the years but would expect with Kohler's reputation and the price paid it should last for many years. Very satisified!

We bought this to replace a Hans Grohe faucet that was installed in 1992. The Grohe was also a single handle white faucet and was an expensive faucet that served well for 17 years. About a month ago I noticed that the water pressure had dropped in that faucet while all others in the house were fine. I understand that this is usually caused by small particles of sediment and such clogging the cartridge. A replacement cartridge for this old faucet was somewhere north of $75.00 and we decided to replace it.

Since we needed a white faucet and liked the single handle with pull out faucet, our options were limited to about 18 in a reasonable price range. We went with the Kohler k-15160 after reading many positive reviews. It arrived in great shape and with good instructions. Getting the old Grohe out took me 6 hours of trying to loosen the retaining nut under the sink in cramped conditions and little access using a hammer and long screwdriver to s-l-o-w-l-y manage to turn it about 6 revolutions. After this frustration I found that I had loosened it enough to slip a hacksaw between the base of the faucet and the escutcheon. About 45 minutes later I had sawed through it and had it out! I decided on a few fingers of Jameson's on the rocks and a good night sleep before installing the Kohler. The next morning I dreaded positioning myself under the sink again but was amazed how easily the faucet installed. It was in and running without leaks in less than 45 minutes.

The faucet looks great and works smoothly and flawlessly. I especially like the longer handle that it has compared to the old Grohe, it is very easy to work and set to any temperature or flow. The pull out spout works very well also, the Grohe was made of metal and was awkward to position around the sink and return to the retracted position. The Kohler pulls out effortlessly and feels much lighter; it has a swivel between the hose and spout which makes reaching any corner of the sink a breeze. The spray is operated by the black buttons on top of the spout with the front of the switch turning the spray on and just behind that the button to turn it off.

I looks great and has a solid quality feel. It is all metal (I read in one review somewhere that the spout was plastic...not so). The only plastic is the black rubber-like strip covering the spray on-off buttons. We are very pleased with our choice. Just consider how old and accessible your old faucet is to remove before tackling the installation yourself. - Kohler Kitchen Faucets - Kohler - Pull-down Faucets - Kitchen'

Rechargeable Batteries - impact drivers, awesome tool

This is my third attempt at owning a compact drill/driver kit--I've owned the Bosch 10.8V and Milwaukee M12 combo kits previously and borrowed my tile setters Makita 10.8v kit, with the cool anvil type case, on lots of jobs. The Bosch and Makita have their place, but not in my lineup and the Milwaukee disappointed me so badly, I have realized they are not the manufactured they used to be, and I will most likely never buy a new Milwaukee tool again.

When I bought my first compact kit, I was hoping to find a drill that was light, easy on the shoulder (if you've ever tried to use an 18v XRP drill with a fully extended arm and your older than 24, you know what I'm saying) and small enough to navigate in tight places. I needed a drill for doing trim outs, removing appliances, installing fixtures and just general light duty work.

The problem a professional contractor will soon discover, these small drivers/impactors are so convenient and easy to use; you will start pushing them to their limit quickly and get frustrated with the lack of power.

The key to being successful with one of the small kits, you have to recognize they will not and cannot compete with the 18v tools, and none of the compact driver kits I have owned will drive 3" screws successfully (I typically screw my framing on small remodels and basement build outs, so I have a bit of experience here).

This DeWalt kit has the best power and balance combination of the kits I've used. It will not fit into as tight of a spot as the Bosch and Makita, but it has the minimum power this contractor can live with.

I have used the DeWalt on two jobs this month.

I installed new kitchen cabinets (20 boxes) and absolutely enjoyed using the impact driver for driving the wall screws and the drill for the drilling and screwing the boxes together, and I'm absolutely positive, using the drill to install the hardware will be a joy.

Also, I just completed the demo and electrical rough in on a small remodel and I found myself reaching for the 12v more than the 18v.

My only real complaint, there is no bit storage on the tool. You don't realize what you've got till it's gone :)

You won't use these for framing, and cant drill tile and concrete or set Tapcons(no rotohammer setting), but for lighter work, this set is awesome.

Quick charge time, descent power and compact design gives this tool a permanent spot in my tool trailer.

This DeWalt kit is the best of what I've owned and used to date. DEWALT DCK210S2 12-Volt Max Screwdriver / Impact Driver Combo Kit

I just bought this drill and was debating with this one or the Makita LCT203W 10.8-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Two-Piece Combo Kit.

I was able to test both before buying and could see the pro's and con's in each model.

I was a little hesitant with the DeWalt because it is new and there were very few reviews on it.

First off the main comparisons:

Weight:

DeWalt weights slightly more than the makita. I believe it is 2.2lbs vs makita 1.9lbs.

But believe me that is not the critical factor. What makes the difference is that the DeWalt is better balanced.

The top and bottom is balanced vs makita which has all the weight in the head. Some may think that is not a factor,

but when you drill something upside down the makita will give you more fatigue over time. Also sideways drilling

will be easier using a well balanced unit like the DeWalt.

Shape:

Again because of the shape this allows the DeWalt to be better balanced. It has the traditional drill shape with

the battery at the base. Drilling with the drill parallel to the ground is easy because the hand is balanced. Makita

is top heavy so you tend to tilt your hand and compensate for the weight distribution. Finally the Makita has the

battery in the grip. This makes the grip much larger than the DeWalt. For some people with big hands this may not be

a problem. But for others with smaller hands the DeWalt will feel much more comfortable. The pistol grip of the DeWalt

feels more natural to me rather than the round stubby grip of the Makita.

Size:

The Makita is slightly smaller and takes less room. However the DeWalt has a flat bottom which allows for the drill to

stand on its base. I found it is easier to pick up a drill when it is standing upright. For example if you are standing up

and the drill is laying on the ground it would be much easier to crouch and grab a drill standing straight up rather than one

laying on its side. Although the Makita can headstand, it is very top heavy and can be easily tipped over.

Power:

The DeWalt claims to be 12v, but this is misleading because under a workload, nominal voltage is 10.8.

Makita - 2-speed design

0-350 / 0-1,300 RPM

DeWalt - No Low Speed

0-1,050rpm

Makita Impact (Variable speed)

0-2,400 RPM for a wide range of fastening application

800 in.lbs. Max Torque

DeWalt Impact

0-2,450rpm

950in-lbs Max Torque

So as you can see the Makita drill is actually better than the DeWalt because of the 2-speed and RPM range.

The DeWalt Impact has more Max Torque.

I found it easier to feather the DeWalt. The trigger seemed more sensitive allowing me to slowly drill or quickly.

While the Makita felt a less sensitive and took more concentration to feather the trigger.

Looks:

Personally I like the DeWalt look. I may be biased because I own DeWalt and not Makita. But also I like the bright yellow colors.

It makes it easier to find the drill and it looks like a construction working tool. The white is nice, but I would guess it would

get dirty quite easy with dirty hands. I also like the DeWalt because it looks like a mini-drill. While the Makita looks like a

hobby or back-up drill.

LED Light:

The Makita has 1-LED and the DeWalt has 3-LED. I much prefer the 3-LED because it is way brighter. However one downfall is that you cannot turn off the light on either drills. Sometimes you just don't need it or want the light. The DeWalt also uses a type of CREE LED rather than a standard LED. This is way brighter and hurts your eyes if you look at it directly.

Accessories:

The DeWalt has a nice belt clip that you can add or detach. This is nice to hang off your pants or tool belt. But it also makes it slightly more bulky.

Finally the one and only major downfall of the DeWalt is the packaging. I own quite a few DeWalts and they always came in a hard black plastic case. DeWalt finally decided to skimp and just include a cloth bag. That was a major letdown because I think all good

tools should have a strong storage case. The Makita comes in a really cool looking silver case. Looks great and functions great. It

is a little big for the drills, but better than nothing. DeWalt needs to step up and include their plastic cases.

Improvements:

With all new products there is always room for improvement. The DeWalt should have an on-off light switch. It also needs a magnetic or clip holder for extra bits. That was a major disappointment that there was no place to hold extra bits. Finally I understand the impact driver is for pre-sized bits, but it would be nice to allow attachments to allow a head which accepts larger bits.

Hopefully this review was helpful. My vote goes to DeWalt and that is what I ended up buying. - Awesome Tool - Cordless Tools - Impact Drivers - Power Tools'

Yoga Mat Bag - manduka, yoga

This is a good bag as it's well ventilated and large enough for my 71-inch BlackMatPro. I like that it's made of canvas and easily washable (it smelled when I got it new).

One big flaw for the high price: The metal links of the strap dig into the shoulder and HURT! It has a strap pad but if you're carrying the bag vertically up and down your back, the position is so that the metal clasp is right on the meat of your shoulder. It's tolerable for walking from the car to the studio, but if your trekking from home, you may need to cover it with foam or something.

This is one of the most expensive bags available, so for ~$50 I'd say it's okay; I haven't found one any better. Manduka Mat Sak (Large, Graphite)

and worth it but if you're most concerned about price there are much less expensive, functional bags out there, albeit not as good looking. The bag lacks a secure place to store small items such as ID, cell phone, keys, etc...but has a generous sized side compartment which comfortably fits a towel, strap and bottle of water.

The bag is very well constructed and (mostly) well designed- plenty of space for the large mat and one change of clothes thoughtful pocket for keys, etc...but the zipper jams on the interior lining if you're not careful.

I loved it for the first three uses...but then the zipper jammed for the 3rd time.

Fumbling for my keys through the jammed zipper opening, I triggered the car alarm. Then I just ripped the bag open.

That is all.

Namaste.

I bought and then returned this bag. It's cute, but the zippers wouldn't open fully (they got stuck about two inches from the end). Since I own a large mat, not being able to completely open the zippers was a major problem.

I bought this to carry my new extra-long Manduka yoga mat. You can't see it well from the pictures, but there are two zippers...one side for the mat, the other side for extras. That other side is a great fit for my yogitoes mat towel and there's also a smaller zippered compartment inside for keys and such. Very practical and the padded shoulder strap is nice.

The bag is very sturdy, but the only thing negative about is that the yoga mat has to be rolled immaculately so it fits in the bag snugly, otherwise you will have to keep re-rolling the mat to make it fit in the bag.

I bought this with my extra long Manduka mat. It holds the mat on one side and holds a pair of jeans and a polo shirt easily in the other. Not much room for anything else though but that's good I suppose otherwise it would look like carry on luggage. Zippers are heavy duty and strap is comfortably wide. I like the handle on the side, too...comes in handy when I pull the bag from my backseat.

I am really glad I bought this bag. I have the 85 inch mat and this bag holds my mat, manduka towel and eye pillow. There is also a mesh pocket where I keep my keys and cash.

I would highly recommend this bag. The manduka mat is heavy and the padded shoulder strap is great! - Manduka Mat - Manduka - Yoga Mat Bag - Yoga'

The shirt is as pictured, except that there is a small corporate logo (two mountains and a silhouette of a pitcher) underneath the right side of the tomahawk. It would look better without that added logo, but it's not a big deal - this little logo is just a quarter-inch high and 1.25 inches wide. The T-shirt is heavy cotton and runs very big; a Large is 24 inches across the chest and 29 inches from collar to hem. I'd recommend ordering a size smaller than you usually get. Bad Product Cd Case Disc Labels

I have purchased these lables for years and they are the best for a full face DVD or CD label. There are other brands out there that claim to have full face labels, but the center is still perforated, so you can see a line in the label when it is on the DVD or CD. I have never had a single problem with these and will never use anything else! Avery Cons Inkjet Full-Face Cd Labels, Matte White, 40/Pack

I was expecting jewel case inserts, and got a pack of disc labels, and their idea of inserts were these tini little spine labels. The disc labels have dog ears that have to be torn off after applying the label to the disc. What's up with that? It would cost more to return the product.

Very let down.'

I've read a sampling of reviews for Season 3, most stating that 3 isn't as strong as Season 2; I heartily disagree. Season 2 felt disjointed, like filler to me (though of course I still loved it!), but Season 3 keeps the story moving forward. I like that the characters are maturing, unlike the Friends characters who irritated me acting early 20's well into their 30's. There's a natural progression here, that includes some sentiment and drama in addition to the comedy. I simply love this show~ BRAVO to the entire team that creates and excecutes it. How I Met Your Mother Season 3

The HIMYM gang [again guided by director Pam Fryman] returns with 20 more legendary episodes in How I Met Your Mother - Season Three. When Season 2 of How I Met Your Mother ended, Marshall and Lily had finally hooked back up (and tied the knot), but Ted and Robin had suddenly split up. The situations were reversed when Season 1 ended. Season Three picks up sometime later after Season Two with Robin introducing her new Argentinean lover, Gael (Enrique Iglesias) to the gang and Ted hooking up with a wild tattooed woman (Mandy Moore) after going out to party with Barney. The end result from that encounter later leads Ted (in "Ten Sessions") to a chance meeting with Stella (Sarah Chalke, fresh from NBC's recently ended Scrubs), a dermatologist and possible "mother" candidate who he falls for in the season's most engaging story arc. Props must be given to the series creators for the attention to continuity featured each season as past acquaintances (Trudy from Season One's "The Pineapple Incident" returns with a tempting opportunity for Ted in "Third Wheel") and plot devices ("The Goat" from Season One's "Milk" and Season Two's "Slap Bet" in "Slapsgiving") are revisited this season with hilarious results. Guest stars include Britney Spears (in a comeback role and the show's highest rated episode ever), Danica McKellar ("The Wonder Years"), Busy Philipps ("Dawson's Creek," "ER"), Maggie Wheeler ("Friends"), James Van Der Beek ("Dawson's Creek"), Wayne Brady ("Whose Line Is It, Anyway?"), Will Forte ("Saturday Night Live") and models Heidi Klum, Marisa Miller, Alessandra Ambrosio, Selita Ebanks and Adriana Lima. How I Met Your Mother - Season Three

Highly Recommended!

PLEASE NOTE: This review contains SPOILERS.

I've been a fan of How I Met Your Mother from Day One, so I don't use a phrase like "starting to slip a little" lightly. But the fact is, season three just doesn't quite measure up to the previous two.

The main problem, as I see it, is that the writers felt the need to create ongoing conflict between the core group of friends. Sure, conflict is necessary to keep things interesting. But I think the ensemble in this show is better served by external conflicts (e.g., Barney and Ted's various problems with the opposite sex, Marshall's work-related stress, etc.). Watching Ted and Robin try to one-up each other after a painful breakup last season was. . .well, not that funny. Later in the season, Ted and Barney's friendship was on the rocks.

Otherwise, there were plenty of well-written and funny shows. Here's a few highlights:

"Slapsgiving" pays off the long-running joke from last season's "Slap Bet."

"We're Not From Here" allows Barney and Ted to cut loose, posing as out-of-towners.

"How I Met Everyone Else" introduces us to a classic Barney Stinson gimmick: The Crazy/Hot Scale.

"Ten Sessions" introduces Ted's major love interest Stella (Sarah Chalke), probably his most memorable girlfriend since season one's Victoria. His manic (and successful) attempt at a two-minute date is probably the high point of the season.

"Sandcastles in the Sand" brings back Robin Sparkles. . .and culminates in an ending so shocking, you'll be grateful you don't have to wait another week to see what comes next.

I guess it's fair to say the good outweighs the not-so-good in season three. At its heart, How I Met Your Mother is the longest tease in television history (yet a few tantalizing clues as to the identity of "mother" are dropped this year). I hope they can keep it fresh awhile longer, even though the inherent illogic of its premise (just how long have Ted's kids been sitting on that couch listening to Bob Saget?) may soon start weighing heavily even on fans like myself.

Season 3 has been a very awkward time for HIMYM fans... But over all was a very great season. It started off very strong and i believe that thhe writers strike affected this show in a very bad way... But all in all it turned out to be an amazing season. I just felt that they had too many filler episodes and not enough plot. And when they finally did a plot running they ran out of time. Still the writers never cease to amaze me... They dropped alot of classics and alot of hints towards who the mother is.. but knowing HIMYM it will not go the route every one expects it to go. and i believe this is the reason i have continued to watch and i recommend not only that buy, but let a friend watch as well. Chance are you and your friend will become as addicted to this show as i am...'

Cell Phone Accessory - cell phone accessory, gps

The output rating for this adapter is 1000ma or 1 amp which is about 1/10 of the power available from the battery in a car through the cigarette lighter socket. This is why a few reviewers found that it would not power their high-power devices such as air inflators and spotlights. However, it is ideal for lower power consumption devices such as GPS and most cell phones and it allows you to take them on trips without having to drag along all their associated AC adapters.

We also provide a toll free consumer hotline so customers can talk to a customer service representative regarding their application, and we encourage customers to call with any questions or concerns. Powerline By Original Power 0900-56 12-Volt DC-AC/1000 mA Power Socket with Enhanced Digital Power

I recently purchased this nifty little adapter and have been very pleased with its performance and continue to find new uses for it. I first bought it for use in hotel rooms when I travel, to charge my cell phone phone thus saving me the hassle of bringing both an AC and DC charger.

I've also found that it will power ANY DC product from a standard electrical outlet. Our family has used it to charge our GPS unit and well as operate our DC TV/DVD combo from a regular outlet. Now all the DVD's we bring on road trips we can be watched on our combo unit becasue this little adapter allows us to power the unit from and AC outlet. I also like the folding blade feature - I can thow it in my glove compartment or suitcase with out it snagging on my clothes or other things. Very cool.

The adapter unit is 1000mA UL Listed, with folding wall socket blades, and an attached end cap on the cigarette lighter socket as well. A well made adapter ... It's easily packed, stored, or carried. It is the solution for devices like my Jabra BT5050 speakerphone which only comes with a car cigarette lighter charger. Jabra charges perfectly Indoors now.

This is a super handy little device. I bought this to use with my bluetooth speaker that only came with a car charger. You just plug the car charger into it and then plug the PowerLine-Power Socket into the wall. It has fold-down plugs for easy storage and would travel well. It has a little light that goes from red to green when your device is fully charged.

I bought this as a gift to accompany a Ryobi 12v DC inflator/flashlight, with the notion that the inflator could then be used indoors for blowing up air mattresses. We tried it out; the light worked great, but the inflator did nothing (even with the light out). A quick check in a running automobile and the inflator ran fine. Then it hit me: the inflator draws more than 1 amp of current (no specs were found with the inflator, but this is obviously the case.) So, this adapter didn't work for the purpose for which I intended, but I understand why. Other negative reviews that said this adapter didn't work, or made funny noises, didn't say what they were trying to use with it. I think it would work great with cell phones, GPS's etc., but check the *total* amperage requirements of all devices you'll want to use this for first. Amazon's service was great as usual.

I have a mini frig that only has a car adapter...I wanted to bring the frig upstairs to use for baby bottles so I don't have to go up and down the stairs every night to the kitchen. this works great! It doesn't get hot and I've been using it for about 2 weeks now about 12 hours a day. Highly recommend.

I bought a GPS about 6 months ago, and there was no way I could program my trips in my home. I went online and found that I needed this product. I am very satisfied, since I could not find it locally.

This is the coolest thing. We use it for everything from our handsfree unit in the car to our kids ipods. I wish we knew of this gadget a long time ago. Received this item in a few days of ordering. Great service.

I compared similar products and the reviews and thought this one should do the job for a reasonable price. Along with charging low draw electronic I wanted it to power a 12 volt inflator. I could blow up an air bed from the car, but not in the house, this solved the problem perfectly. I figure that's the top 'draw' I'll experience and also guess it's pretty high, it performs flawlessly. Now it just need to last. - Gps - Charger - Power Inverters - Cell Phone Accessory'

17 Inch Laptop Bag - laptop bag, 17 inch laptop bag

I purchased this item as a gift for a family member. When it first came we loved it. It was the perfect size for a 17 inch laptop and had plenty of room for papers and a book or two without being too bulky. There are a bunch of pockets for storing mp3 players, etc.

However, after less then 4 months of normal every-day use the shoulder strap is completely frayed and falling apart. It is still usable but it looks terrible - you can see the foam padding inside the strap. I'm really shocked that HP would put its name on a product of such poor quality. HP RU350AA Backpack Case for 17.0-Inch Notebooks

I purchased this bag because my current bag could not handle a Calculus book, a JAVA book, and a laptop. But this bag can hold it all!

--Now to let you know I usually hold the JAVA book, because it puts a strain on your back with this much weight.

It has so many compartments for all your laptop accessories, and protects the laptop amazingly, extremely well insulated and cushioned. Now, to let you know I have a 15" notebook and use it for it and not a 17". With my laptop it still has room for a 2" Calculus book and a .5" notebook (or a JAVA book [about 2"])

The laptop part of the bag has zippers with the ability to accommodate a lock for added security. I am very much enjoying my bag, and plan to get a great use out of it for years to come!

I did a lot of research on a lot of bags, backpacks and messenger bags. For the price this is a great bag. My Toshiba 355 with the 17" screen fit perfect in the padded slot that has a velcro strap to keep it in place. This backpack also has two other compartments for books and ect. Plenty of pockets, compartments and extras. Lot of backpack for a small price.

This bag is just what I needed! I have a 17in widescreen HP and it fits perfectly! Lots of room to spare in the other compartments and very easy on the back with lots of padding. The price was great! I also love the fact that unlike most backpacks the harness is all one piece and not sewn on! Very sturdy!

This item doesn't need a long review, it is just a damn good product for an even better price. That saying, "You get what you pay for" doesnt apply to this HP backpack. I'll make it easy for you, you cannot go wrong with this item. It manages to safely and easily hold my massive 17' Dell Precision M6400 workstation laptop, power supply and even has room for a few large books. This backpack serves its purpose well without making a dent in your pocket book.

Great Product.

I just returned the second one of this exact model. The first I had to replace after about 6 months as both of the shoulder straps were severely frayed and the partition between two of the sections was coming unstitched from the outer shell. The second I return after just one month as one of the shoulder straps was faulty and tended to fold/twist when worn. Perhaps I shouldn't have purchased this a second time, but I has such a difficult time finding a pack that fit my computer I went with this because I knew it would fit.

I received the bag in first week of December and it has been one week I have started using the bag.

The design is good and there are a lot of pockets. So you can put a lot of small things in an organized

way. But the stitch of the handle on top of the bag is not so strong. Since this is a 17" laptop bag, it

should be rugged enough to hold heavier load than usual. I am not so happy with this feature.

Update: April 25, 2011

I am happy that it still looks good.

Looks great, convenient compartments, but the one attribute where it is woefully inadequate is DURABILITY. I bought this thinking I would have it for at least a year or two & the darn thing started coming apart after a few months of use. The shoulder strap began to unravel, foam cushion spilling out the side. I sometimes carry a lot of paper for work in addition to my laptop, & I do often carry it using only one strap but come on...I would expect it to hold together for at least a year! I am now shopping for a new laptop backpack & I am willing to spend a little more this time for durability - I hate buying cheap crap that doesn't last under normal use conditions. Cheers! - 17 Inch Laptop Bag - Laptop Backpack - Laptop Backpacks - Laptop Bag'

Laser All-in-one - multifunction, canon

Overall, this is a good all-in-one laser printer for its price in consumer class printers. Here are some detailed comments.

1. The automatic paper feeder is well designed - the situation that multiple pages go-through at once never happens (in HP 3050, this happens a lot).

2. Canon provided a well designed user interface - functions are easy to follow and operate, including scan / printer / copy.

3. The automatic duplex print is excellent and make the printer worth what you paid for. But when using automatic double sided printing - the print speed turns to be less than a third (instead a half) because the mechanical parts need a lot of time to flip the paper.

4. As some of you may have concerned, the latest firmware (02/09/2009) makes scan function smooth on a Mac - all you need is to press the scan button. This is tested on a Leopard Mac Mini.

5. In case some of you want know the compatibility with printer servers, this printer is full compatible with Netgear PS121 printer server under windows vista (including automatic duplex) x86 and x64. It is NOT compatible with Netgear PS121 under Mac Leopard (no idea why - installation smooth and prints went through - nothing comes out of printer). This printer is NOT compatible with Maxtor Central Axis printer server function.

To summary, this is a good printer for its price. However, concerning its powerful function, you may want spend some extra money for the 4370n to enable every function on network - if you are working in a networked environment. Canon ImageCLASS MF4350d Laser All-in-One Printer

I purchased this machine on Amazon in November. Overall, I've been happy with it. Duplexing was an important feature to me, and Canon appears to offer that on less expensive printers than other companies.

I don't have a lot of experience to base my judgments on, but I think the print quality is very good, with a couple exceptions. First, the printing is sometimes crooked on the paper, especially on the back side when duplexing. However, the Canon rep I complained to said that a variance within 2mm is considered acceptable, so I measured and this printer is within that tolerance. It's visible, though, especially on forms, such as printer checks. (Actually, my cheapest of Dell inkjets printed straighter.)

The other problem also appears when duplexing: on the back side there's a strip of blurred printing from top to bottom where the toner didn't bond. This only appears on the first sheet after the printer has sat idle awhile. The Canon rep had no answer, had not heard of this before.

Yes, you can scan from the machine if you download the firmware update.

I think I'd buy it if I had it to do over. It's quick and has really crisp printing. If you want to compare, some similar Canons I looked at are the MF4150, MF4370dn and MF4270.

I am a bit disappointed after I've played with this copier ImageCLASS MF4350d. Note that Canon calls this a copier, not a printer. Thus, when you call Canon or search its site for help/technical support, make sure you select the "Copier" category.

This ImageCLASS MF4350d has been in the market for a while but no one reports this problem: up to this moment of writing this review, the machine cannot scan a document by using its own START button. Everything must be scanned via the software "Toolbox" from the computer.

I bought it a few days ago. I called Canon 1-800 for help but it was useless. Then I went back to the store and tried their demo machine; it has the same problem. Whenever I push the START button on the machine for scanning, there is always a beeping sound as a return but the LCD doesn't show any error - it always indicates "Scanning Mode." So I called Canon again to go over the story. Finally they admitted the problem and said that they are aware of this issue; their engineers are working on the new firmware to fix this. However it won't be soon. The new firmware may be possibly released next month but could be later. I also wrote an email to Canon support to confirm this information one more time, besides their verbal confirmation over the phone.

In addition, the scanning has no detection senor. Thus, the scanned document (scanned from the computer) will go as large as the paper size, which is usually the Letter/A4 size depending on your settings. The scanned document will NOT be resized automatically according to the actual object(s). It is different from its ink jet printers, which usually detect the size of the document or photo and then resize automatically.

If scanning a document directly from the machine's START button is important to you, you should wait to buy until the new firmware comes. If resizing the document or photo automatically is important to you, this copier or printer is not for you; you may consider others or Canon ink jet type printer. After all, this all-in-on laser printer is classified a copier internally by Canon. - All-in-one - Multifunction - Canon - Laser Printer'

File Folders - ampad, colored

I loved the rich, dense, interesting colors these come in...exactly as pictured here. And they'll probably be quite adequate for one-time use or for files you stash away and rarely need to get into. But now that I've been using these for a few months, it's clear that they're all wrong for top-of-the-desk files one consults frequently, or files that go to meetings etc. They're just way too flimsy and prone to tearing and curling up at the corners to stand up to that kind of use. Nowhere near as sturdy as standard manila files. Ampad 100% Recycled Color File Folders, 1/3 Cut Tab, Letter Size (8.5 x 11), Assorted, 50 per Box (35115)

I really support purchasing 100% recycled items, even if it costs a little more. However, these are of rather poor quality. I will not buy them again. I'll switch to recycled boring manila folders, if I must, because these are not worth 8.00$. They are barely thicker than construction paper.

These are great, reasonably priced, Earth-friendly, and come in an assortment of beautiful jewel-toned colors. What's not to love?

Yeah, black marker doesn't show up well on them, but so what? Use a silver or gold marker... or use a label.

These folders DO NOT HAVE the rich color intensity as pictured. The 'evergreen' folders are 'teal' and the 'warm violet' folders are 'dark plum' and finally the 'imperial gold' had a variety of shades to them. These folders do not match the Hanging Folders which DO MATCH their picture - nice! Unless you don't need matching hanging folders or don't care about the off shades, go with a different more reliable color scheme. The folders themselves are as expected for Recycled --- fibery and more flexible than standard folders.

If you put your own labels on these so you can read them, and if you don't mind file folders that are very limp, then these are for you. My husband likes them for his business because he puts printed labels on them, and the thin quality takes up less space in his file cabinet. I need heavier folders to provide things to clients so it won't wilt in their hand. Recycled is always nice but doesn't have to be so thin.

I have almost always chosen the manila folders but really like the different colors for my current filing project. For my purpose, the quality of the folders is suitable and I ordered more than enough for other filing projects. Like almost all Amazon orders I receive, the boxes of file folders were packaged well and arrived earlier than expected.

I needed folders fast, and these where received within the same week I ordered them. No small feat for shipping to Alaska. The colors are very dark - you'll need to stick on white labels if you want to see what you're labeling them. The paper is speckly and recycled looking. Quite pleasant, and I'd certainly order again.

they came sooner and they are a great seclection of colors they are dark but they won't get lost in the drawer or pn the desk. I use a different color for each letter to be sure whoever ends up filling my clients can't misfile - File - Ampad - Office Supplies - Colored'
