Adjustable Ankle Weights - exercise, fitness

I researched several brands of ankle weights, noting that many reviews showed that small weights (1/2 pound) can become dislodged without adequate velcro fasteners on each weight. The TKO 210 AP 10 lb Pair Ankle/Wrist Weights do NOT have that problem. They were a little more expensive than some other brands, but well worth the cost. I had to do therapy starting at 2 lbs, then 5 lbs, and then 7.5 lbs. These worked wonderfully, allowing easy adjustment, and no weights dropped out! I am very pleased with this product. TKO 210AP 10 lb Pair Ankle Weights

I bought these to complement my workout at home and I don't regret it at all. They're a bit pricey (but so are all comparable adjustable weights!!). They're nice and soft around the ankles and the adjustable feature is really good to intensify or lighten the workout as the case may be. I really like the versatility of it (I can incorporate it in any workout I'm doing).

Its paded and comfortable. It's easy to adjust the tightness of the Velcro straps. It's also very easy to adjust the amount of weight. The weights are small half-pound iron or steel bars - about ½ diameter by about 2.5-inches in length. There are ten little weight bars per ankle "bracelet". Each weight is slid into its own pocket on the ankle straps so it's easy to keep the weight evenly distributed around the ankle bracelet. Each weight pocket has a Velcro pocket cover to keep the weights snug and secure in the bracelet.

It's a good product. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends.

This is a great product. What I really like about these ankle weights are the following:

- Fully adjustable weight setting. Add or remove the weighted bars as needed. The bars can be removed and added pretty easily.

- The velco strap holds. Never had a problem with the strap getting loose. It will stay in place.

- Possibly machine washable. I have not tried it yet, but seeing how you can remove all of the weights, and are just left with the fabric, I don't see why you couldn't wash them. Something I will try soon and report back about.

- The velco that holds the weighted bars in place, works well. Just be mindful that it is velco, so if you do some sudden and really fast moments, there's a potential to slip out, but it will only slip out in one direction since each weight goes into a pocket. Again, you really have to do some fast movements, or you did not secure the velco securely.

Well worth the investment. I've even managed to have them double as a 20 lb kettlebell with a handle and strap that I have some a resistance band set I have.

i walk for 45 minutes each way to work - when i first got these, after a 1 week break-in period, they were great - comfortable - and the velcro was secure. after a few months of walking the bottoms of the weight pouches started wearing out from where they rubbed on the top of my shoes - i started covering the pouches with duct tape to protect them. finally, after a few more months, the velcro strap pulled out of the weight band - it is only tacked in with the seam stiching - so the constant tugging on the band from walking pulled the stiching out and the band came loose.

I found the reviews on Amazon for ankle weights to be particularly helpful because I'd never owned any before and wasn't sure what features to consider. I had been in P.T. for a lower back problem, using machines, and it was recommended that I continue at home with ankle weights. These were the highest rated by far, and I concur. They are easy to use, the weights don't fall out. I am small but they're not too loose and would also have plenty of leeway for someone larger. Other than the fact that they don't come in purple, I can't find a thing to criticize. ;-) And I don't think I could have found anything in stores local to me that would have been of nearly this quality for this price. I'm happy. - Strength Training - Fitness - Exercise - Adjustable Ankle Weights'

Bellydance Wear - hip scarf, costume

This hip scarf is really pretty. I bought it for a class that I'm taking. Its is very pretty but the only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because the actual fabric the coins are attached to is very delicate. I can see myself poking my finger through it while trying to tie it on. Overall, a good buy. BellyLady Belly Dance Hip Scarf, Gold Coins Waves Style, Tote Bag Included

The picture is a little deceiving because the gold circles you see are not little pieces of metal but are plastic-type confetti things.. not really sure how to describe it.. but they don't really make any sound.. there are some pieces that clank together to make a sound but with the proper movements.. it just doesn't feel right.. but it looks super pretty!

I love that this scarf has a lot of coins attached so it makes a pleasing amount of noise when dancing. The pink is a very nice color and it appears to be constructed well. Including a tote bag is a nice touch, too.

THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVE IT BUT THE ONLY THING IS I THOUGHT IT WAS BLACK I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED BLACK TO MATCH THE PANTS SO I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE COLOR OF THE SCARF I DON'T LIKE THAT COLOR SORRY BUT OTHER THAN THAT I LOVE THE COINS AND STYE OF IT THANKS AGAIN IF YOU HAVE A BLACK ONE WITH GOLD COINS PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP! THANK AGAIN SELLER!

I didn't care for this coin scarf because it looked cheap in my opinion. Lots of coins but not very stylish. Gave it another dancer who was happy to have it and thought it was cute. Probably being nice because she was getting it for free. LOL

Love this hip scarf! Flashes well when dancing and sounds great. I tie mine very tight and have never had any issues with tearing. I use it for a zumba class and it has taken a lot already and is working very well. bought one for my instructor and she loves it also. I wasn't expecting it to be such a HOT pink But I am very happy with the color! :-)

Out of all my scarves this is by far my favorite. the color is exceptional the the intricate crochet and pailettes v-pattern is stunning. the pictures do not to them justice and lets admit the pictures are beautiful, but in person, well, breathtaking. i love it! my teacher insisted we "trade" lol yeah right! you will not be disappointed with this belly dance hip scarf! - Bellydance Wear - Costume - Hip Scarf - Belly Dance'

Hardwood Flooring Nailer

Was skeptical, as I usually am, but this tool lives up to its name.

Have installed alot of 3/4" 2-1/4" plank oak flooring with it so far, have had 1 misfire. Instructions say to not hit it too hard, but I found that it takes a good solid whack to get it to fire completely. Once you do that, it's a breeze. Always seats where it's supposed to, and fires the nails to the right depth. Too light a whack will not sink the nails.

It's really solidly built and balanced really nicely.

One drawback, I wish I could check magazine level without opening it up, but it's not too bad. It makes a hollower sound when you're dry firing. Ramsond RMM4 2-in-1 Air Hardwood Flooring Cleat Nailer and Stapler Gun

I as a shopper often depend on the Amazon customer reveiws for product research. No one had reveiwed this nailer yet, however based on feedback on other websites, I decided to take a chance. I purchased this nailer as opposed to the Porter Cable nailer because I do not use a flooring nailer that often. I just couldn't justify the 4oo.oo plus expense. This nailer as well as another couple, and I suspect also the Porter Cable nailer have such obvious similarities that I feel they are probably made in the same factory.

Upon arrival the nailer seems well made for a more economically priced nailer. Machinings and castings aren't perfect but adequate for a 200.00 nailer.

Likes: The handle, and the fact that it will drive either nails or staples and can be adjusted for various flooring thickness. The color, which has nothing to do with functionality, but this nailer does look cool.

I received the nailer and fired some test nails into scrap flooring. The nailer shoots nicely and seems to function properly.

Dislikes: The bargain basement mallet. The manual could use some more detailed photos. Most of the logos are in the form of decals, not painted on, call me picky but I like to keep my tools well maintained, and don't like decals falling off over time.

I am giving this nailer three stars for now. I will try to report back after I get more time in with this gun.

Reveiw update. Since the last reveiw I have been working on my floors and the gun has performed very well. I have shot over 1500 cleats through the gun and had no jams or misfires. The only thing in use that has been a problem is that the rubber coating on the handle is so grippy that it tends to give a blister.

Overall, I am really pleased with the product, and would like to add another star.

As most other people who bought this flooring nailer, I couldn't justify spending 400 plus on the Bostich or Porter Cable. I don't like renting tools from the home improvement stores because I like the freedom to use the tools whenever I want so I can do the job at my own pace. I gave it 4 stars because when I first hooked up the air supply, I heard some air leaking from where the handle meets the body of the nailer. I found that some of the bolts were not fastened down all the way. I just took the wrench that was supplied and tighten the bolts and it hasn't leaked air since. The other reason for 4 stars is that the logo's and SN are just stickers, and the user manual is not that great for beginners like me. As far as the functioning of the nailer, it gets 6 stars! I put down 3/4 inch pre-finished oak floor and the RMM4 worked perfect without a single misfire! Overall, I would recommend this tool in a heartbeat, especially to those who are trying to decide whether or not to buy or rent.

I bought my Ramsond flooring nailer/stapler on e-bay. I used the last part of a box of nails then went to staples based on what a professional floor guy told me. The gun functioned flawlessly. It is easy to use, the stapling action drives the t & g flooring tightly together eliminating any gaps. It works just like my pro friend's Bostitch.

I installed about 200 sq feet of 3/4" x 2 1/4" red oak flooring and stored the tool in my dry basement for almost a year. I started installing the same material in a 400 sq ft room. It worked well for about 100 sq ft. And then the nailer broke. The pin which holds the staple driver to the piston snapped, and the driver was now free. This part looks identical to the Bostitch part.

Ramsond sells the gun with a package of o-rings, hex wrenches and a stamped steel wrench. Disassembly was not easy, but I was able to get down to the piston/driver assembly. When I tried to take this apart, the aluminum pieces broke. I went to e-bay, emailed Ramsond (actually Padova Imports) and the next day had a reply to call their parts dept. They shipped out a new piston/driver assembly for about $35 with shipping and I had it in less than a week. (I cannot blame them for the gun being out of warranty.) WRONG PART. I'll return it tomorrow and see if I can get the correct part.

While it worked, this flooring gun was great. But mine did not work for long.

There is a difference between a name brand (Bostitch) tool and a Harbor F&S or a Ramsond tool. Quality materials and quality control make a difference. In general, I have not had good luck with the off brand, cheap tools but still buy them in hopes of hitting the jackpot. I guess I never learn. Bottom line, my pro flooring friend has gotten years of trouble free use out of his Bostitch, and while I admit one tool does not a statistical sample make, my Ramsond failed after a few hours use, and the support was questionable.

If you buy Ramsond, may you have better luck than I did.

I read all the reviews and ordered the nail gun. I opened the box, oiled up the gun and off we went (boys with new toys) it worked great until I disconnected the air compressor on the 2nd day and when I hooked it back up it developed an air leak on handle the bolt where coming loose and the gasket had slipped out the side so I shoved the gasket back in and tightened all the bolts and it worked like a charm.

I'm only 200sqft into a 600sqft project, not one miss fire and the only problem I had was with the bolts being loose on handle. I would recommend this nail gun for the price, before using check all bolts, it was easy with the allen wrench right on the tool.

I gave this a 4 because the handle on the hammer is loose after 4 days of use. A little better made hammer would be nice.

Good luck!'

Andrea Ambandos - yoga for beginners, beginner yoga

When it comes to yoga, I am definately a beginner and don't do it often because some yoga programs are too challenging for me. This one is great and I'm glad I decided to give it a go. I didn't get it the first time round but I'm finding it getting a little easier with each go and now I'll be enjoying the challenge of progressing to a higher level of it.

This has a gorgeous setting outdoors by the ocean and so that in itself is nice and relaxing. The AM segment is done with standing movements to help energize you and the PM segment is more focused on relaxing and elongating your muscles and nice stretches. I find down dog and sun salutation to be my two favourite moves here. Ellen is a great instructor who has the perfect soft voice for yoga teaching and the way she describes the moves, helps you visualise them without necessarily having to look at your tv set.

While I'm new to yoga, I do find this great. As I mentioned, yoga usually seemed intimidating yet this workout isn't that at all. So if you haven't tried it before (or you have and didn't like it), I think this workout will suit you. It's easy to do and relaxing. I highly recommend it. Element: Am and PM Yoga for Beginners

Let me say first that I'm not a beginner to yoga, but my partner is. We bought this dvd because we both are

fairly inflexible (I still struggle with poses after many classes of yoga postures), and we wanted good stretches and the beginning poses. I also have Tendonitis in both wrists.

While this dvd is set in a beautiful place, the teacher (at least in the A.M. portion of the dvd) quickly leads the viewer/participant through several faster-paced Sun Salutation moves. She does a nice job of explaining the first few moves, including Downward-Facing Dog, but she does not offer modified suggestions -- such as Dolphin Pose or putting towels under your hands -- for those of us with bad wrists. Downward-Facing Dog is also not the best exercise for those of us who struggle with flexibility. Plus, Plank, and Downward-Facing Dog are horrible for the wrists. I did the first few minutes, and ended up taking a few Ibuprofen because the pain in my wrists was so bad. I also had to look up alternatives (listed above) to these traditional postures.

My partner, who has never done yoga (shocking!), felt that she went too quickly. My partner has hip issues, and Downward-Facing Dog hurt her hips.

There are many postures you can do in a beginner's yoga class, and I'm not sure why Elena Brower chose The Sun Salutations poses. To me, they are tedious and also cause pain.

In short, this is a decent dvd for those with no injuries to hips or wrists, and for those who have done yoga before and want a normal-paced class on Sun Salutations. It is not for people who want a gentle, modified yoga for injuries or inflexibility.

I have Elena Brower's other DVD for beginners - and I liked it. This one seems a little jargon-y and wierd - telling us to breathe into our LEFT lung, and to feel the space between the hemisphere's of our brains.

Perhaps you should use it with the sound off - the poses are fine.

Very good DVD with excellent and complete verbal instruction matching what Ms Brower is doing. The pace is very reasonable, not so slow you become bored and yet it is not rushed. Importantly, compared to some other "beginner" DVDs there are enough different poses that one gets some of the potential breadth of yoga. Also, the accompanying verbal description is complete and detailed enough that it can be followed with only episodic need to look at the screen to see exactly what is going on. She also gives the names of the poses so that as one progresses to more complicated routines, the names can tell you exactly which pose you will be going into. My personal opinion is that this is one of the better beginner DVDs

LCW on September 27, 2008 wrote a great detailed review explaining the moves in the 25-30 min each two sessions.

Elena Brower did a great job here of creating flow & keeping the pace calming, slow enough for you to be able to feel how the poses benefit your body, yet fast enough that today's rushed feeling population won't feel bored. She has a great voice that is never irritating or forced slow voiceover like some other yoga dvds. She teaches YOUR left/right so you can mirror her image & follow easily. I've tried over 150 yoga dvds & there are not that many I feel have body awareness like Elena. She has done a great job of telling you what body parts to be aware of in terms of changes & she's very accurate. She will ask you which lung feels more open & to breathe and put focus on them so they are both more open & I never realized my left lung felt soo tight & in the several seconds it really helped open up my breathing capacity. Everything she said was perfect, not too much info, not too little. Even though I was in a rush & normally I'll FFW through child's pose or simple resting sitting poses, I didn't want to miss anything she might teach/say.

This is for beginners, the AM will be more likely to make you sweat, though it's for beginners. If it's not hard enough, you can always go deeper into the pose, hold harder poses longer (replay portion/pause dvd as well), do downward dog with only 1 leg 3 legged down dog), etc. Yoga dvds are very versatile depending on endurance level & beginner dvds tend to have more rest periods, so you can hold or re-do a hard pose while they are resting. If you want it easier, you can get out & rest sooner then the instructor. The PM is more about easy stretches that won't make you sweat & to relax you to help you sleep.

I find any workouts that don't incorporate body awareness is a waste as well as boring. To be taught to be more aware is empowering as well as feeling of more benefit other then calorie burn or muscle building & positive feeling during & after. This feeling will carry over to mood as well & effect your interaction with the world around you in a better way.

The only yoga dvd instructors I love that are very calming w/o being boring or annoying w/TRUE body awareness are:

Rodney Yee, Rainbow Mars, Seane Corn, Gurutej Kaur, Kristin Mcgee, Wai Lana, Kristen Strohecker, Max Strom, Teigh McDonough, Ateeka, Jacquie Noelle Greaux, Shiva Rea (only for those with endurance) & now add Elena Brower.

Non-yoga/non-belly or latin dance fitness body awareness instructors:

Duncan Wong, Kari Anderson, Liz Gillies, Stephanie Herman, Rael Isacowitz

If you want to take charge of your health, not just lose calories/build muscle (though yoga does that great as well), more body awareness w/o feeling it a mindless workout, give this a chance. - Yoga For Beginners - Yoga Dvd - Beginner Yoga - Elena Brower'

2005 Acura Rl Ceramic Brake Pad

It looks like these rear pads fit a variety of cars. I installed them on my 2004 V6 Accord, and they're fine. The cast metal portion that the pads are mounted to are a little wide, so it took some work to get a couple of them in but they do fit.

The rear factory pads on my Accord wore out in less than 30K miles, and that surprised me. At that time, I swapped out all of the brake pads on the car and I went with cermaics because they don't leave black dust on the alloy wheels. I purchased that first set of ceramics from a national automotive chain store, and I was happy enough with them. It turns out that that first set doesn't have a lifetime replacement warranty, so I'm trying out the Wagner version this time around. The impression I have from reviews on the Web are that Wagner pads are far better than the ceramics that I previously had on the car, and the Wagner pads are also less expensive through Amazon.

The Wagner pads have a nice finish and build quality. They don't come with the shims installed like the factory pads and the last set of ceramic pads that I bought. The Wagner pads are shrink-wrapped in a box with instructions about the use (or not) of shims; no shims and no adhesive are included. I applied shims to the back of the Wagner pads and popped them onto my car. Stops the car, no black dust, and completely silent (as expected). Happy enough! Wagner QC537 ThermoQuiet Ceramic Disc Brake Pad Set

Amazon shipped the product very quickly, package arrived in great conditions.

These are for my 2007 Honda Accord rear disc brakes, replacing the original pads. So far very satisfied with these pads. Very quiet, no to no dust, leaving my alloy wheel shiny and clean. Stopping power is great, no fading, I even want to say its stopping power is a little bit better than the original Honda pads. Really like these ThermoQuiet QC series pads, would definitely use them for my other car as well.

Threw these on my 2006 Honda Accord. Fit perfect, very quiet and smooth. Did not come with shims or grease, instructions say to to use any. I still greased up the backs. So far so good, I'll post again in a month or two.'

Black Leather Purses

I was very happy with the condition of the purse, and also the scent of the leather. Sometimes when leather is delivered through the mail, it has a stink smell, not with this!! Delivery time could have been faster, I found myself waiting awhile. The price is very reasonable, I was surprised to find this purse at such a cheap price!! I would buy it again if I had to, I may just buy a second to have when this one wears out! BNF Leather Backpack Purse; Color: Black

This purse is awesome - I gave it a three because the thing that closes the purse broke (not sure what that piece of plastic that is used to tie the purse shut is called - but this "lock" broke so now the only way for me to close the purse is to tie the knot myself. I like the purse a lot so it isn't a big deal but enough to knock down the rating I would give it.'

Fein Multi Master Attachments - fein multi master attachments, e-blade

I use the Fein Multimaster almost daily in my contracting business, and have found it to be one of the most useful tools on my truck. I use it primarily for cutting out areas of wood rot, and it does this with almost surgical precision! In my opinion, the Universal E Cut blades are a significant improvement over the other E Cut blades that have a Japanese saw tooth pattern. The tooth pattern on the Universal Blade looks similar to a hacksaw blade, but even with the smaller teeth it seems to cut through wood more quickly than the larger Japanese pattern. The Universal Blades are also less expensive, and will cut through nails you encounter with ease. The other more expensive E Cut blades shatter when you are unlucky enough to encounter a nail, brick or concrete surface. I would like to see Fein offer some wider versions of this superior blade design, and re-evaluate their pricing strategy for all of their blades. Fein 6-35-02-151-02-0 1-1/8-Inch Universal E-Cut Blade, 3 Pack

Several reviews complain about the exorbitant cost of the blades for the Fein Multimaster. I compleatly agree with this. My solution was to start making my own. I bought a replacement dozuki blade, cut it in to three sections, welded each section to a piece of 16 gauge metal in which I had drilled the proper mounting hole. This week I was doing tile work so I bought a tungsten carbide hacksaw blade, cut off a couple inches and welded this piece of 16 gauge. These blades work Great! and at a small fraction of the cost Fein expects to get.

The Fein machine is the most versatile tool I have. The blades I purchased for it do what they claim to do--cut right through wood, laminates, drywall, and light metals. I wiuld have given them a five-star rating, but the pricing on these blades held me back. Great tool, but Fein has to do something about the cost of the blades.

These blades work great for making cuts where no other tool can go. They produce a very clean edge in wood an can go through a nail if you find one hidden in the wood. The ability to plunge straight into the work in a controlled manner is great. A bit pricey, but worth the money when you would otherwise be stuck in a tight corner.

As a remodeler and handyman, this producet can save countless hours of labor. It cuts through wood and hidden nails, screws and staples. Cutting out interior panels and hardware in built-in cabinets is made possible by by these unique blades. My only gripe, and it's a big one, is the price--$75 for 3 blades. I've learned to be very careful not to use them when another tool will do the job. Even though they are made to cut through metal, striking a relatively thick nail, screw or bolt will ruin the blade very quickly. So if what you're cutting is easy to get to, use your sawzall.

These blades are amazing. I highly recommend this tool and especially these blades. The multimaster is the most universal remodeling tool I have ever used. The only complaint is the cost of the blades. They cut wood with ease but be cautious with metals. If you force the cut and don't let it cut at its own speed you will damage the blade. - Multimaster - Fein - Fein Multi Master Attachments - E-blade'

Cuddy

A lot of extra 0.7 mm leads for my Pentel automatic pencil. I don't know what 'high polymer lead' is, but it makes nice clear marks on paper and doesn't break very often. The leads fit perfectly and are probably going to last me for the rest of my life, but I can leave the left overs to my son--he writes a lot. Pentel Super Hi-Polymer Lead Refill , 0.7 mm Medium, HB, 90 Pieces of Lead (C27BPHB3-K6)

I am normally not a huge mechanical pencil fan, but since it seems that most pencils are now made with some weird wood look alike, which the leads separate from and then break, I've moved back to mechanical pencils. Pentel's Twist N Erase pencils have been the best ones I've found. The leads (they are equipped with this type) are not easily snapped and the refillable, long erasers make them a good choice for my math classes. This is the first time I've liked a mechanical pencil enough to buy refills instead of trying yet another type of pencil.'

Cotton underwear. I like the cut. I like the fit, which is pretty standard. The color assortment is very varied. I got bright colors with maybe a white or two. No big deal to me, though. No one's going to be judging. Fruit of the Loom Women's 6-Pack Cotton Bikini,Assorted,6

The most important thing about cotton underwear is to be able to forget them once they're on. These succeed perfectly.

I would not have chosen the colors and patterns that I received, but how boring would life be without surprises? Here is a chance to embrace the unexpected.

I bought these out of necessity working long hours and no time to go shopping. Howeveri found them to be much scratchier (even after several washings) then Hanes Her Way (less expensive at Target. Served its purpose but won't buy again.'

Ankle Weights

I wear these around the house all day long (I am a 62 year old female)...walking, up and down the stairs, doing leg lifts side to side and back kicks, front kicks. My legs are more toned and finally strong (I had really weak legs). When I go out without the weights on my ankles, I can walk forever! Well worth the price. One hint: if the weight beads become hard and hurt your ankles, just take a small hammer and "pound" the beads lightly to loosen them. Sometimes the beads meld together and harden, but easily soften after "mushing" them. I have had these for months and they still are like new. No wear and tear at all! My daughter used them to train for months before she entered "Tough Mudders". Highly recommend! Reebok Adjustable Ankle Weight (10-Pounds)

I bought these because they were Reebok. But unfortunately having a big brand name is not a guarantee of quality. The fabric began to rub through after less than one week of use. In addition, the iron filings used for weight seemed to have been magnetized, and would congeal into hard painful mass.

I really dislike how the velcro is on these weights. The way the velcro is makes them perpetually slide off your ankle on one part of the weight. I don't understand why they wouldn't have made the velcro extend just a little further. Maybe they aren't designed for people with smaller legs. They are very big and VERY bulky. I bought them to wear under the legs of my pants while at work so I could get toned up while walking back and forth in my busy job. But I can't wear them discreetly under my pants at all, and even if you remove one/some of the weights (a nice enough feature) they are STILL too big to fit under your pants. I'm talking Hulk huge. But they are good quality. I'd also have liked if the weights had some sort of buffer so they weren't rubbing on your ankle bone but I suppose that would make them even bulkier. It's got to be a trade-off for a larger amount of weight, I suppose. The biggest issue IMO is the stupid velcro straps! They won't secure to part of the weight.

Well they're approximately 5 pounds each and they attach to your ankles with the straps, that's what is advertised. At first when I felt the material on the weights inside I didn't know if it would hold up for extended usage so I wrapped the weight pouches with a few layers of duct tape, no more worries there

I got these today hoping to take my work-out to the next level and I couldn't even wear them for more than 20 Minutes. They HURT so much! The sand bags feel like wearing a bear trap around my legs. Very, very uncomfortable. I will be returning them.

This is gotta be one of the nicer comfortable ankle weights out there. I've used the blue plastiky ankle weights at the rec and must say these are more comfy around your ankles.

The sand bags was a bit difficult to takeout/putin so -1 star. Not sure how often one needs to do this. Otherwise, the straps and cloth material are very nice.

I live on the fourth floor of my dormitory, and we don't have an elevator. It's hard to maintain a regular exercise schedule at university, and the ankle weights are great for getting a little bit of a workout by just putting them on and going through my daily routine!

I really like that the weights themselves are sandbags, so they form to the shape of your ankle after a few steps, and that they're easy to put on and take off. The only thing I would warn other potential buyers about is that they do take some getting used to, and if you don't wear them with socks, they tend to chafe. Also, be careful when wearing them -- if you use these weights correctly, they'll be great, but if you don't pay attention to how they change the way you move and work to correct it, you can do some serious damage to your knees. The added momentum when stepping forward can hyper-extend the knee and lead to repetitive-motion injuries.

As long as you're careful, though, and use these correctly, they're great. Two thumbs up.

I bought these years ago...used to use them quite a bit, just now fished them out of the closet again. Mine came from a Big 5 store.

They're pretty versatile...yeah, you can use them on your ankles but I've used them rolled up as hand weights, and, if you put them together, you can put them around your waist which doesn't tone anything in particular, but still makes you work harder if you're doing squats and lunges.

Really useful and I haven't seen a great many better solutions.

The biggest issues I have with wearing them often are that they get uncomfortable..it would be nice if there was some gel padding but there's not...just a fabric with sandbags which form hard spots. They especially hurt over the ankle bones. The fabric is rough too (some synthetic like what they make gym bags out of) and if you don't wear socks it can chaff.

Finally, I don't think I have super small ankles (female in my 20s), but I generally use them with all the sandbags. It's a good thing too or they'd fall off. Even at the "tightest" setting, they still tend to slip down. Only my sneakers really hold them up. If I'm barefoot (around the apartment) they'll scrape the ground like socks that won't stay up.

These are well made and do the job. However there are two things I don't like about them. They are adjustable, but not enough. When the product description says "adjustable from 1-5 lbs" I assumed that meant I would have the option for 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 pounds. Unfortunately there are only 4 weights of 1.25 lbs each. For a small amount of weight overall, jumping up by 1.25 lbs is a lot. Now that I have these and have tried them, not only would 1 lb increments be better, but I think I'd prefer 1/2 lb increments.

My other issue with them is that the weights are bags of sand, and if you frequently need to adjust the weight (I do in every workout), it's a bit too difficult to stuff bags of sand in and out because they take a bit of manhandling to coax in. It's not that bad, but too much fuss in the middle of a workout when you're trying not to have much of a break. I think a metal weight would slide in and out much easier. So.... now that I've tried these I'd really prefer metal weights in 1/2 lb increments. I'd return these but I'm worried the return shipping will be so high because it's 10 lbs total that it won't be worth it.'

Knitting Design - ethnic, interesting

"Knitting Out of Africa" employs the abstractly modern traditional designs of Mali mudcloth, Zimbabwe basketweaving and other designs to create wonderful designer garments. The knitting is mostly suitable for the intermediate to advance knitter, mainly for the colorwork and assembly techniques.

My favorite designs in the book are the ones taken from basketweaving. There is a funnel neck pullover and a long tunic, both inspired by these baskets. Another great design is a modular knitting domino, rather like a kimono, with flap collar and wonderful black-white-gray geometric design. There are some intarsia animal prints, as well. All are modern looking, quite stylish and would make one-of-a-kind, elegant garments. Some designs could be adapted for men, but these are primarily women's sweaters.

Big thumbs up if you like pattern or colorwork. Knitting Out of Africa

As the title suggests, these are not sweaters for the inexperienced knitter. They are intricate works of art, and the recommended needle sizes show they are not for the impatent knitter. Read through the knitting techniques mentioned in the introduction, and if you aren't familiar with them, and you still want to make the gorgeous sweaters herein, then learn the technique elsewhere before tackling these sublime designs. You'll be amply rewarded for your efforts.

I am very fond of this book. There is a sophistication of color in the designs that I find appealing. I prefer fingering weight yarn and if you do as well, you'll love the designs in this book. I'm not a fan of zippers in sweaters but the patterns which include zippers could easily be turned into a v-neck, etc.

I was surprised at how many of the patterns used steeks. Steeks require you to cut your knitting in a variety of ways (for sleeves, cardigan fronts, necklines). All of these can be reconfigured if you dislike steeks. Be aware of the need to noodle with the patterns if you choose not to steek.

The sleeveless giraffe pullover is to die for!

I was hoping for more true tribal/regional patterns but this book is more about the author's interpretation of what "seems" african-like.

The patterns are all shapeless and look more like standard fair-isle/intarsia patterns to be found elsewhere.

Do not buy if you are looking for true African-inspired patterns.

I love anything that has a sort of "wild" flare to it, and this book is filled with it. The patterns will certainly give you a good challenge, which we all need now and then. The tutorials are written so well that if you are a "medium" knitter, you will probably feel very comfortable trying these patterns.

I love this book. Having been to Africa I can vouch for the authenticity of the patterns. They are indeed reminiscent of traditional African design.

Some of the patterns are relatively easy but most require an intermediate to advanced knowledge of knitting. The kits for all the patterns can be purchased from the author. I had a question for her about one of the patterns, e-mailed Ms. Isager, and received an immediate and helpful answer.

I can't wait to decide on the exact sweater I will knit. I am torn between two. I'm lucky that it's just two because almost every sweater in the collection beckons to me.

The designs in this book are truely gorgeous and though the patterns are well written, I would strongly recommend reading through very thoroughly before embarking on any of the projects. My only issues with the book are first, a small one, and that is that the lengths of the sweaters are not given in the overall Materials/Guage/Measurements section before the instructions and secondly, as another reviewer has written, so many of the sweaters require steeks. I understand the appeal of steeks but don't exactly love them myself nor did I think they were necessary for a lot of the sweaters. Also, not all of the sweaters were shown on models and that's something I think is really necessary to get a feel for how it hangs and looks on a real person - or even a mannequin. I would have given the book of five star rating if there were fewer steeks or alternatives to using the steeks. Otherwise, it's a lovely book even if you're only going to look at the patterns and imagine wearing them.

I was uncertain how I would like the sweaters in this book but after I saw them I realized there isn't a bad one in the bunch. They're classy interesting geometric designs. I'm not sure which one to make first. The only possible concern with this book is that a number of sweaters require fingering yarn.

Well worth the purchase and well worth knitting!

I like this book--although the patterns are very involved and not for a beginner. I intend to try some of them when I get a chance. I am an advanced knitter and the colors of the projects are stunning. - Knitting Books - Ethnic - Africa - Interesting'

Bosch Wiper Blades - razor blade, bosch wiper blades

I had purchased these wipers after my other silicone wipers had failed me, they even had a lifetime warranty. After not wanting to deal with sub-par wipers I bought these, through a friends recommendation, and will had pressed to use another brand of wiper. These wipers were so great that I bought them for my other vehicle as well. Had them for over a few months, and during rain, snow, and the weird cash wash they have endured. I personally have recommended them to my friends and family and none have had anything bad to say about it. Hope this helps. Rain-X Weatherbeater Wiper Blade - 24"

I was looking for inexpensive replacement for my 2001 Honda Accord's wiper blades. This one works great and very easy to install. Took me 5 seconds for each wiper. I needed a 24 inch and a 19 incher for both sides. No water streaks at all.

Made in Korea, assembled in China.

Great wipers, and this is the second time I've purchased them for an Xterra and Subaru. However, the shipping pack was poor and arrived damaged. Fortunately, I was able to repair the bent 24 inch wiper.

These wipers are offered at many local retial stores. They do not fit the Audi A4 base and quattro models. Reason being is, that while the wiper blade control arm is a 'hook' form, the way the outer part of the arm is designed, the hook space is actually much more narrow than your standard wiper blade. Basically, you need a wiper blade which has a smaller clip on space. Like much of the other blades offered at retial stores, the wider clip on space fits great on other vehicals, just not on Audi. I was thinking of purchasing the Bosch ones for mine, but now I am a little skeptical, considering I am being recommended a wiper I know for a fact does not fit my car.

Great product so far. Bought it back in November 08 and hasn't shown any problems. Easy to install also

It kind of sucks that it only has one wiper blade when 2 are shown so it threw me off a little. Plus, I didn't know that my car had 2 different sizes for driver side and passenger side. - Bosch Wiper Blades - Razor Blade - Bosch - Wiper'
